Run of the mill Thai local restaurant

By TangoNY |

Run of the mill Thai local restaurant. The Tom Yum was rather average nothing special. Rasul with tofu was better. It’s ok if you are in the area and up for Thai food. But if you are looking for a special place, keep looking.

Warm place on a cold night

By 1212cge |

After doing a little too much walking and sightseeing on a very cold day in New York, Lan Larb was exactly what we needed. The service was warm without being intrusive and the food-especially the soups were very appreciated and comforting. They are not reinventing anything, but presenting Thai favorites in an imaginative and innovative fashion. The food all looked as good as it tasted and at extremely reasonable prices for NYC

Yummy

By TIFFANY F |

I went here for dinner and everything was so good, fresh, and flavorful. I recommend the assorted appetizers, wing zaab, orange chicken, and salmon mango. The staff was great and attentive, the environment was clean and comfortable. I would definitely return.

Hidden gem - fresh, high quality & great ambiance

By itsme |

If you feel like Thai food in the City this is the place. After trying several other places, Lan Larb proved to be the best, most authentic place around. Every dish is meticulously and precisely made to order. The staff is amazingly pleasant and nice, without making you feel rushed. The decor is nice and relaxing (good for both families, or a intimate night out.) The dishes are very consistent, always prepared fresh, made to perfection. Top it off with extremely reasonable prices and a 1+1 happy hour on drinks!

Small restaurant with tasty and authentic food at a reasonable price. We experienced a very friendly service! Been there twice and would come back!

Authentic Thai food

By Tat C |

Authentic Thai food with good price. They have a lunch menu, and you can choose between dumpling or spring rolls as appetizer (both are delicious). I recommend the Pad Thai and crab meat fried rice, both are delicious.

We enjoy the Thai Lunch

By Tomberra |

We had the set lunch. It starts with a very good soup and the a small starter and then a main course. We ordered Red and Green Chicken Curry. As usual, we enjoy well spiced dishes. To the with had cold ice water. A good lunch and we will be back.

Love this place

By Mark S |

I am in New York quite often for business, and this is one of my favorite places for dinner. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly, food is nicely presented, colorful, and full of flavor. My favorite dish so far is the pad khee mao noodles. It's full of vegetables, and the noodles are great. Nice and quite spicy but with lots of flavor. The Thai iced coffee is always a good choice, too.

My favorite place to eat while traveling on business to NYC!

By Renee W. |

The atmosphere is cozy, quiet. The ambiance is classy and contemporary. The food is absolutely incredible and authentic Thai. The Thai iced tea is a must have - so refreshing. The tom kha and tom yum soup is delicious! The flavors are layered. I highly recommend the basil fried rice. I have been here multiple times on my own and always feel very comfortable. The service is friendly! If you love Thai - this is the place for you!

A good dinner.... Simple & spicy

By Marco B |

Small restaurant with thai food. Very good the larb dish with duck meat and the som tam (a salad with green papaya). Low cost price. 3 persons for $ 53

Tasty and inexpensive

By Gloria |

After visiting the Morgan Library, my husband and I were looking for something relatively quick, but substantial before we caught our train out of the city. We found Lan Larb online and it was perfect. We were given the lunch menu, but were also able to order off the main menu as we wanted a couple of apps. We ordered the wings, the pork skewers, and the papaya salad with shrimp off the regular menu and 1 pad thai off the lunch menu. First of all, that was 1 appetizer too much as the portions were all generous. The food was really, really good though and we managed to eat it all. We asked for the papaya salad to be spicy and it was! But it also had a nice flavor with the spice. The pork was tender, not dry as it can come sometimes and the wings (7 or 8 of them) were well cooked and flavorful. The pad thai was also really good, with plenty of chicken and a nice sauce mixed into the thin noodles. We also had a couple glasses of wine and because it was the afternoon, they were only $4.50 a glass. The restaurant also has a nice decor. If you like Thai food and are in the area, go there! You will enjoy it for sure.

I'm A Regular - Enough Said

By Youngryman |

I eat lunch here approximately once a week. I usually rotate between chicken fried rice with a chicken larb appetizer and curry chicken with noodles and the spring roll appetizer. I find it all delicious, well-prepared and a bargain to boot. I should explore the menu a bit more. Depending on the weather I sometimes finish with a Thai iced coffee.

GREAT !!

By Dr Vivienne Finnegan |

Larb is good quality, clean, tasty Thai cuisine and very reasonable prices. It is a small restaurant, nothing flash but perfect for a casual dinner. I enjoyed the duck wrap and a delicious fried rice dish. Friendly service.

Lunch specials

By Tunaidi |

Good, cheap Thai food. Lunch specials include an appetizer and a large-portioned entree. There's also bar area, but only four stools. Lunch can be busy, so time it right.

Good food

By Dagwoman D |

Good basic Thai food. Looks quite popular, less busy after 20:30. Red curry was quite salty. Pad Thai excellent, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Jasmine tea rather disappointing as it was served as a t-bag in a glass, rather than tea leaves in a teapot.

Fine Meals in a Low Key Place

By ROBERT I |

Our meals were both excellent as we made our first visit here. In an extensive menu we found a very flavorful pad Thai, duck and pot stickers. The pad Thai stood out from others we have tried. The duck breast was tender and combined with a flavorful sauce. The venue is small snd low key. A very good discovery.

Delicious neighborhood Thai

By bartoncobert |

Small, busy Thai restaurant. Coconut based soup with shrimp excellent. Drunken noodles with seafood also delicious. Fried calamari tender but breading was over cooked. Still fine. Good portions and reasonable prices. Attentive service.

Terrific Isan Thai

By Comandante-of-Fun |

They do justice here to this great region of Thai cuisine. Only had time for a quick visit so just sampled the the Ubol Noodle Soup, a signature dish. A fantastic fusion of udon, pork rib, and pork sausage, in a broth with fried shallot and scallion. I can't wait to return and try the acclaimed larb and other dishes.

Authentic Tasty Thai

By Peter G |

Authentic Thai restaurant/cafe in Midtown NYC. We had spring rolls, Thai green curry and chicken pad Thai. All served quickly and hot and fresh. Would definitely recommend. Washed down with a couple of Chang beers, it was a great find. Looks like it was doing a roaring trade in take out too!

Favorite Thai in the neighborhood

By danielleinnyc |

The food here is always good! I'm partial to the crab rangoon and the cashew chicken dish. Delivery is always fast, but they have good dine-in specials. They have a really large selection, and I've never been disappointed with any of the dishes I've tried. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This place is awesome

Loved it! It’s very cozy and nice place. Good food, low prices and friendly stuff! Absolutely recommend !

Real Thai food

By Nichakarn F |

I and my bf travelled from UK but we are originally Thai. The compliment dish came as larb, the taste is not what we expect it's plain for us because normally we eat really spicy food. Som tum (Spicy papaya salad), Pla goong (Spicy King prawn salad), and Pad kee mow (Spicy fried noodles dish) We confirmed that these dishes have a similar taste to our hometown dish. But for tom ka kai (Chicken in coconut milk) is not meet the our standard since it's not original taste, however if you like less spicy dish i would recommend this one. This restaurant is very warm and cozy. The staff are nice and friendly. i would recommend this restaurant to who would like to try Thai food!

One of the best value for money in town

Very mediocre “Thai” food

By Melanie T |

Ordered for delivery at around 7 pm on a Saturday to our hotel, and it came when it said it would. We decided to try a bunch of different things: Assorted Appetizer (2 curry puffs, 2 spring rolls, 2 chicken and shrimp dumplings, and 2 coconut crusted shrimp) - I loved the curry puffs. It was packed with flavor. The spring rolls and dumplings were super basic. Shrimp was good, but it's nothing you can't find at your local Costco freezer section Papaya salad (green papaya, tomato, peanut and long bean in spicy lime dressing) - the spicy lime dressing was perfect. However, the papaya was a bit soggy; kind of like it wasn't made fresh. Maybe they just make these in big batches in the morning for the entire day Nua Yang Esaan (Thai grilled steak) - this was a bit dry and it needed salt. However, I must say that the jaew sauce made up for everything. It's a sweet, spicy, and tangy dipping sauce that I probably would have taken shots of, if it wasn't so spicy. Even though I loved the sauce, this dish is definitely not worth its $25 price tag Pad Thai with chicken - chicken was a bit tough and bland and the pieces were huge (not in a good way). The flavor overall wasn't great. I think it could have used a bit more salt or a bit more of a tangy factor Thai iced tea - I get this is supposed to be sweet but this was sickeningly sweet. We took a few sips but couldn't stomach the rest. We also ordered a coconut water, which they forgot but we decided it wasn't worth it to make them come all the way back to deliver a drink Overall, the food was very mediocre. At least we got 20% on GrubHub since it was our first order here?

Loved the two dishes I tried and will definitely go back here again soon.

By Johnny W |

Tonight was my first visit and both my dishes were excellent. I had the mango salad with shrimp and the pineapple fried rice. The food was very tasty and came fairly quickly. The service was fine. I was by myself. Sat at a nice, small table at the window. Another great thing the music was in the background and not the usual deafening sound that I have been subjected to in many NYC restaurants. I will definitely go back to this restaurant and take friends with me. Really good Thai food.

Authentic taste

By Imliooper |

We went here for lunch and started by ordering from their lunch menu. The arrangement is that you start by choosing the starter. Then pick the meat which you’d like added to the curry and rice, noodles, pad Thai etc to make the entree. They all come together, plated. Then having realised we had not ordered anything from their specialist area of north-eastern Thai fare, we got some pork skewers. For dessert we had the Tao custard and banana fritters served with sesame seeds in honey. Every thing was tasty and delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. The food did taste authentic

Decent Thai Food

By Bmac2012 |

Very convenient location with okay Thai food. I'd recommend the Roti Massaman Chicken for an appetizer and the Thai Fried Rice for an entree. I also split the spring roll and veggie dumplings with friends but both were just okay with the veggie spring roll being the least favorite among all my friends.

Solid Thai food option in Murray Hill

By Nicholas B |

Solid Thai food in the Murray Hill area, a few of our dishes were great (Green Curry and one of the Northern Thailand meat dishes). The others were only ok, Service was very good and a great range of Thai options. This is definitely a restaurant I would return to.

Great for lunch

By Booface13 |

This is a great place for lunch. They run a lunch special both week days and weekends. The value is very good, both food and service are quite fine.

A good Lunch Restaurant

By Tomberra |

We have been looking for a good Thai lunch restaurant since Thainy closed down. Believe we found one. We had Chicken Curry Rice and Chicken with Basil sauce and were also served a vegetable soup to start with. We like spice food and got it and it was good. Included was also a small starter as vegetable spring rolls. We enjoyed it and will come back.

Welcoming and pretty Thai with inspiring food and great service

By Ilias A |

Lovely Thai was a chance find for a late lunch on a Sunday. Surprised it was extremely crowded at this late time. No wonder! This is a very welcoming restaurant with warm and professional service, great food and reasonable prices. We had a most enjoyable lunch and therefore recommend it highly

Tasty with nuance

By Andy Loug |

Smart interior, tasty snacks, good choice for daytime happy hour drinks (margarita)... but after we left money with tips already, saying "no change", the waitress came to us again and really demanded several times to leave additional tips. We always leave tips in all the places we go, but that was the first time we faced with such strange way of treating the clients. Even if we hadn't leave them, do the restoraunt workers have such a right in the attitude of their customers? Doubt. And of course this spoiled the impression and prevented us from going there again.

Some times you just get lucky

By Steven S |

I discovered this lovely neighborhood gem solely due to its proximity to NYU hospital. I was with a foreign co-worker on a business trip when he suddenly required emergency medical attention. Many hours later I was able to duck out for dinner when he went for testing. Sometimes you just get lucky. The Tom Kha Chicken soup was delicious and just the comfort food I needed. The Chicken pad thai among the best I have ever had. This little neighborhood spot is good for the soul! Fortunately Co-worker was released from hospital a few days later no the worse for wear.

Best Thai in Midtown

By acaciasNYC |

I'm a local, and I eat a lot of Thai food (a LOT!). When my former favorite place went under new management, I tried quite a few before I found Lan Larb. It is terrific. From the signature Larb, which is a must in either chicken or pork, to the fresh curry puffs or spring rolls for starters to the Bangkok street food menu, of which we've tried almost all, to my absolute favorite, the jumbo shrimp massaman, you can't go wrong here. A bonus is the happy hour, where very good wines and beers are half price. The most expensive dishes are $20, and most are quite a bit less. If I could give it more stars, more I would dish out!

Flavors good but overcooked meat and shrimp

By 4NY2VA |

We ordered 3 dishes - green curry with chicken, pad see ew with beef, and stir fry with shrimp. We thought the three dishes had good flavors and good portions; but could've been more spicy (we asked for medium). The disappointment was we felt the chicken, beef and the shrimp were overcooked and tough or dry. We went just before 7 on a Friday night and the place was filling up when we left around 7:30pm. There's happy hour prices until 7 every day but we didn't order any drinks.

Quality Thai Food

By Tyler S |

I live around the corner from Lan Larb and it's my go-to spot for Thai meals. I usually order the Pan Ka Na Moo Krob over rice and it was very tasty. The meat is high quality and the spices are tasty.

M15 and M34

By LR1 |

This Thai restaurant in Murray Hill is conveniently located in close proximity to two major bus stops; the M34 crosstown bus and the M15 Select bus (going south on 2nd Avenue). I was trying to catch the M34 crosstown bus going west and I decided to try this restaurant. I had the Pad Se-ew, flat rice noodle, egg, Chinese broccoli in black bean sauce with chicken ($10 USD). It was delicious, full of flavor and the broccoli was crisp, just the way I liked it. The restaurant itself was small, very clean and beautifully decorated with warm mood lighting, rich, dark wood tables and elaborate mixed metal wall decorations. I would definitely eat here again. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience for me.

Bland Panda.

By KillerRabbit |

Not exciting. Basil beef had a baby kick. Chicken pad see yew had no flavor but wasn't bad. Noodles OK. No flava at all, but if you're hungry it does the job. Just add hot sauce. Tastes like Panda.

Neighborhood gem

By MK330 |

Our good old neighborhood gem of a Thai restaurant. Room is cozy, clean and nicely decorated. Service was friendly. Food was great...authentic ....

great service, great food and excellent value.

By anorth52 |

I do not know how many times we have walked past here? It was Friday night and we couldn't get in any where so we though we'd give it a try. What a treat? Very friendly and efficient service. The food was very good and it is excellent value, we will now become regulars.

It Has Joined My Lunch Rotation

By Youngryman |

Of the four Thai restaurants within a few blocks of my studio, this is the one I prefer. It has earned a place on my regular lunch rotation. The lunch deal is quite a bargain and of a very good quality. I usually start with the chicken larb which may be a bit too spicy for some people. I finish with the very nice Thai iced coffee which has just been thrown in as a freebie with lunch - an unbelievable year-end bonus. Good luck to them.

Great lunch

By Pimmsno1 |

This was a great find. We were just passing and went in for lunch. The food was amazing. I had the crispy chicken with rice and it was so good and loads of it. The staff were lovely too.
