Amazing food!!

We had such an amazing gastronomic experience in this restaurant !! The bar/club section upstairs was a little loud for us so we relocated to the second floor and it was perfect!!! The rib was fantastic!!!!!!Def recommend it !

Good but not what I expected

By JVDocs |

We chose this venue to celebrate my mother-in-laws 60th birthday. We had researched restaurants with a ride variety of food and ambience (moroccan was the theme). We looked for a place with a belly dancer and good reviews. Let me first say, that it is not exactly a restaurant. It is more of a lounge. We were seated on sofas, which wasn't bad if you were having a drink, but to eat your meal, it was a bit awkward. The food was fantastic, although we went to this restaurant specifically because online they stated they had lobster - they did not. They also only presented us with the pre-fix menu and we had to ask for the a-la-carte menu which they seemed resistant to offer up. The food was however excellent, but the bar did not offer several items such as flavored vodkas or specialty drinks. They did make the birthday celebration exciting by offering a sparkler and singing "happy birthday" but the belly dancer made her way to our part of the place only once, and that was the end of it. We have been to many places where the dancers circulate many times, and this was not the case. Overall, it was great food - just not what we expected as far as ambience. The music was also too loud to have conversation, it could have been turned down just a tad and been much more enjoyable.

Birthday Brunch

By Michael B |

WOW, my significant other bought this as a surprise for me from PULSD. Ok so I though $35.00 how good can it be, we've been to other places and not so good. But, the food, fried chicken and lamb burger outstanding. And Sammy our waiter amazing attention to our needs. And they weren't skimpy of the alcohol that was put into all drinks, or how many we had. We sat outside, which is very nice just that it got to hot- too many Drinks me think! Lol. Next time, which will be next month we'll be inside upstairs where the music is hopping. Definitely a go-to joint for us now! Thank you Sammy and management!

Great Hookah

By Elizabeth S |

Wondefully intimate Hookah bar with great belly-dancing entertainment and middle-eastern style food! Would love to go back just for the Hookah!

We came here for brunch and had the worst experience. Maybe the server was new but the management seems also passive aggressive but towards aggressive at the end of our restaurant experience. Food is good not bad for the price 🙂 Come for the food but not for the service.

Bottomless Brunch

By Michael B |

Great joint, this was our second visit for their bottomless brunch. Nice weather we sat outside. Chicken and Waffles 👍👍Lamb Burger 👍👍. Service was outstanding, food was fresh and tasty. We sat for almost 2&1/2 hours. Well worth it.

Forget it

Use to go there before Now the doorman is asking money for himself to let people enter. This is very sad and not commerçant , we ll never go back ever !!!

Delicious food, fun ambience

Trendy ambience. Food was excellent. I am a very healthy eater and there were lots of great choices, both vegetarian and meat.

Great Place to Party

By Jojo H |

I've been here on a few occasions and only to party. It gets really crowded but there are more isolated VIP sections that have less college craziness surrounding. I would recommend the spot nearest to the DJ booth because no one can bother you in those areas. I like the variety of music that gets played especially the hookah. But for people who come here to dine. Try to get there before 9 pm because most restaurants start transitioning for lounge at 11. Although it should not excuse any rude manner.

It's more about the atmosphere rather than the food.

Economic, generous prix fixe

By GilBagnell |

Arriving in the area early before a show we wanted to find a reasonably priced place to eat. They have sidewalk seating here, which would normally have been ideal, but it was hot so we opted for indoor seating, which is in a darkened room on the third floor. It was a comfortable place to dine, although it apparently gets filled later in the evening. The tables are low so you cannot get your knees under them - a bit awkward. There were a few folks smoking hookahs, and we had to change tables because the low-level smoke triggered my smoke allergies. As for the service, it was friendly but slow. Because we changed tables, there was confusion whenever food was brought, since our table number had changed. We had some time to kill so this worked well, but had we been in a hurry it could have been a problem. The food was generous, very reasonably priced, and tasty, although without much distinction. We had couscous, one "royale" and one with lamb. The lamb included a truly enormous lamb shank, which was quite tasty in itself but without much added spice. The "royale" was similar. but with a lot of lamb as well as chicken, and also some vegetables. The underlying couscous, similarly, was tasty enough but without much in the way or characteristic spices. The accompanying harissa was not the bright red spicy condiment one would expect, but a rusty-brown puree of hydrated dried mild peppers. The dessert, included with the $19.95 prix fixe, was two large slices of baklava and a scoop of icecream. This was a bit undercooked and sparing on walnuts but, again, tasty enough. So bottom line is that if you are hungry and want a reasonably priced and quite palatable meal, this is a good choice. If you want to sample real couscous, you would need to go elsewhere.

Go Early for dinner

By Jason C |

We had a great time despite some poor reviews. It is a bar in the evening so if you go early and avoid the crowds it's great. It was my first Mediterranean experience and the food was fantastic. Check on Groupon before you go, we found a half price deal.

Fun Time!

First time experience with the entire Moroccan experience. Got a special for a five course meal for two including Hookah. What a great time we had. The staff was attentive, food and music was good. It was a great escape!

A nice surprise

By 21504 |

When you enter this restaurant you do not realize how lovely it is. Walk up the stairs and you are in another country-dramatic and middle eastern., The dinner is plentiful. First a wonderful middle eastern soup and a large wonderful salad. Then wonderful cows -cous and red snapper and veggies. A wonderful pasty desert follows.. Service was friendly and excellent

Tourists beware!!!!!

By Erika S |

Be forewarned this place stinks!!!!! In every sense of the word, I came to visit my friend who works here, so we decided to go here and the and the guy who owns it MARCUS JACOB is the biggest creep ever, firstly when me and my girlfriends arrived in he started by plying us with alcohol then proceeded to try and get us wasted by offering us cocaine!!!!! My friends was only 19 and doesn't drink very often so was wasted, the OWNER followed her to the bathroom near the end of the night...I don't know how it is in America but where I am from you DO NOT DO THIS!!!! Doi not go here unless you want the door staff and owners to creep all over you!!

Groupon deal

By Jinny T |

I got he Groupon voucher to celebrate my friend's birthday here. The deal was pretty good. We each got a 3-course meal and shared a bottle of Prescco. When I first got in to the entrance, I love the rose petals on the stairs. The restaurant decoration is very cute and good for dating and group hanging out. We were first served the bottle of Presco and sat at a corner seat with some huge champagne bottles. We ordered lamb sausage and tomato appetizers. Both of them are good. I prefer the salad because it's fresh and light. For the entrees, we got paella and short ribs. Both of them are decent portions and taste nice but their food is a little bit too salty for me. The dessert we got saffron pistachio ice cream and chili chocolate cookie & cream. I do like the special flavor of the ice cream. It's not too sweet. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here. We would come back again.

Club manager is rude and not professional

By 2eloquent |

My friend had her bridal party this weekend there and when she left, the club supervisor or whatever he is came there and basically embarrassed us in front of everyone by taking away the bottle that we chipped in to pay. He is a mean and nasty human being and as much as I can, I will escalate this matter to the owners of the place. Poor service.

Should have left when we saw the condom in the flower box

By Kate M |

Our 1st water glass was dirty. Later, glasses of water had floaties poured in them. Our server disappeared. Our drinks were watery and awful. Update: MULTIPLE servers disappeared on us and all were confused. Seeing condom in the flower box should have been our 1st clue but we didn't know it at the time. Update #2: We have to ask for the check 4 times. Update #3: Place next door advertises glowing drinks; place across street two doors down has TWINKLE LIGHTS. Definitely regretting decision Had stopped into this place for quick cocktail. Ended up leaving 35 minutes later; left untouched cocktails on table. Have never done that before.

good brunch food but not a good place to have a conversation

By Melanie T |

I was searching for a brunch spot to go to, when I came across Le Souk on Pulsd. For $35, you get two entrees and unlimited bellinis/bloody marys/mojitos/margaritas for two hours. Plus, I had previously been to Le Souk for a Yelp event and remember the food being pretty good, so I decided to jump on the deal. My friend and I came in with a reservation for 1 pm on a Saturday, and the place was packed. That being said, you definitely want to make one because I saw a lot of people crowded around the bar waiting for a table. Le Souk is a lounge, so it's dark and loud in there. If you are not lucky enough to nab one of the four tables on the second floor, where there is sunlight, and music isn't blasting, then you will be seated on the third floor. This is where they have lounge-style seating, making it extremely uncomfortable to eat a meal. Forget about having a conversation with whoever you're with because it's SUPER loud in there. Aside from this, the good was pretty good. I ordered the lamb merguez burger, which I was hesitant about. Usually, when I get any form of lamb burger, it's dry and gamey. Luckily, this one was neither of those. It was juicy and flavorful. However, after eating it for a while, it started tasting pretty salty. It comes with a side of home fries, which I did not care for. My friend ordered the fried chicken, which I considered as well but was afraid to get some dry chicken. She let me try a piece and it was actually pretty good! As for the drinks, I stuck with a bellini the whole time and I like that they don't overdo it on the juice. Our waiter was great about bringing our second drinks out - we didn't even need to ask him. He saw our empty glasses and brought it out. But after the second, it took forever to get the third. If you're looking to just party with a group, then Le Souk is probably a good place - there were tons of groups having birthday brunches here. But if you're not looking to do this, make sure you can get seated on the second floor, where you can actually hear your thoughts.

Horrible

By aquarius007 |

oK SO I went there about three months ago for a friends' birthday and it was just horrible. The place is nice and this was my second visit and I don't know what went wrong. The waitstaff was rude as anything and then when we finally finish dinner, they're rushing us out of our seats bc we didn't reserve a table even though we had already spent $1200 on dinner and drinks. Then my friend had put her friends on the guestlist and when they show up ON TIME, they weren't allowed in, and we went to speak with the people outside, but they acted as if they owned the place. RUDENESS. I mean I understand it's a business, but you still have to treat people with utmost respect. We asked to speak to the mananger, who was actually the hostess, and it wasn't going anywhere. She proceeded to curse me and the birthday girl out, and her guests. I wouldn't go there. It's not the only moroccan/hookah restaurant place in ny and they need to know that.

Love the 3rd floor!

Great ambiance and drinks!!! Small space to dance, though, so a table with hookah and bottle service is the way to go to remain social and have your own space. Young, hip, fun, sexy crowd!

A little bite of the sandpit in the Big Apple

By AndaluciaDubai |

A great night spot with a fabulous vibe on Bleecker street. The theme and music keeps changing and they have awesome hookahs to puff the night away all while listening to cool tracks and watching the live belly dancer strut her stuff on the bar counter. Worth mentioning was Josh, our amazing Waiter of Irish Lebanese origin who was always attentive ... kept checking in on us and ensuring that we had a great night. It reminded me once again of how service and staff attitude makes or breaks ones experience and in this case Josh really made the evening memorable for us ... thank you for your hospitality!! Don't forget to checkout their great dining deals like their steaks with 4 paired Vinos on Tuesday or their Couscous night on Fridays. They also have outdoor seating with hookahs which makes for a nice casual evening.

Horrible service. Rude management.

By anicolej |

I really want to give this place no stars. I've been here twice this year and both were bad experiences. Sometime after 11 it turns into a club. Even if you are still eating, bouncers will come and literally move your food, etc to the next table and TELL not ask you to move over because they have a bottle service! They pick up the outside chairs even if you aren't done to make way for a dance floor. We paid for food and drink and they make you move so they can get someone else's money. One of the ladies actually stacked a dirty plate on top of my sister's unfinished salad! I asked to see a manager and he was very rude and unapologetic. I told him they should reserve spaces for bottle service and wait until patrons are finished eating and leave their table before removing chairs. It's horrible customer service to do it the way they are now. He said "everyone does it this way and walked away. They don't tell you this when you come in so it's really a surprise. I thought this time would be better because it was a Monday bit it was exactly the same. The food is good but I prefer to enjoy my meal sitting down. Word to management: I am very disappointed in the customer service standard here. Patrons should at least be told they will be forcefully moved from their table even if they aren't finished with there meal, dessert or drinks to make room for bottle service patrons. Removing chairs before patrons finish eating to make room for a dance floor is rude as well. A better way to handle this would be to start marking empty tables for bottle service only around 10:30. Then mark the other table as patrons leave. Don't force people from their table. Just like the patrons pay for their bottle service, I paid for my meal, dessert and drinks. I am just as important as they are.

Just meh especially for people of Color

By Kenisha C |

I plan to write a review for trip advisor as well as Facebook and any other place I can get my hands on. We came here to celebrate my birthday and worked with a promoter to get in. The place is what you would expect a dank hookah bar / restaurant. The paintings on the walls were kind of cool. I can't speak to the food. We noticed that all the promoters were being seated with their party of girls while we waited a solid 10 to 15 mins before being seated in the very back, out of the mix. Well ok we thought since we weren't paying for anything beggars can't be choosers:). I'll give you a hint of what separated us from everyone else; we were African American, Indian, and Spanish while everyone else in the club was white except for the promoters who were predominantly black males. Seems like a lounge for black male promoters and caucasian females. Anywho, we weren't feeling the vibes nor the glaring looks our way. We had a right to be there too; I mean we got in via a promoter for free like everyone else. Lol. We were dressed properly and well put together. We are all educated and well spoken. The staring got to the point where one of my friends felt the need to say hello to the person staring. Lol. No response. We sat in the back for an hour or two before we decided to go. Music was a mix of top 40. There was some hiphop here and there which is when everyone started to move / dance a little bit. A good quote would be "everyone one wants to be black, but no one wants to be black." You'll sit there and enjoy hiphop music yet stare at girls of color like you've never seen them before. This is not a reflection directly of the lounge, but it is the crowd they try to promote. This lounge was just meh. If you like the crowd I just described then this place is for you!!!!! Go for it!!! If you like a place with a little bit more diversity then I would go someplace else. I shouldn't have to wait for hiphop night to enjoy a place or feel welcomed! Enjoy!

Fun and acceptable food

By debralynn108 |

My first problem was that the seats are regular height but the tables are low so seating is awkward and uncomfortable. The other issue was that they were out of half the wine list and some of the dishes..and this was on a THursday night. Service was inattentive but the food was very decent although the lamb sausages were too chewy. The trio of appetizers were hit and miss but the salmon dishes were acceptable.. THe belly dancer was fun to watch for a unique experience. It isnt a place I would return to

Food and service was great. There was five of us having dinner and we tried four different meals and we shared each one so everyone had a chance at all the different flavored. The restaurant was a little dark lights very dim asked to be moved to table by the window. All and all would recommend to try it Guess I found another kind of food I like

We came on a Friday night to celebrate our friend's birthday. The food is really good, authentic Moroccan, very tasty. We ordered multiple small plates for our tables. The big disappointment were the drinks, really bad, big names poor concoction. It look like the bartender just change the juice and add the alcohol ( miserable amount) the sangria was good when ordered individually but when we ordered a pitcher to share it was like a cheap wine mixed with Tropicana juice. The music gets better as the night progress. Good vibe. We didn't have hookahs but it seems like everyone was enjoyed them. We had a great time!! The staff very nice

Personal service and flavoursome dishes

We dined at Le Souk around 6.30 pm on a Saturday evening. We are a 60 year old couple who was greeted at the sidewalk and invited to discuss the menu. We were led to the third level and courteously shown to a table. The waiters were both friendly, attentive, patient and helpful with our dining. We would recommend the poulet pastry for starters and for mains, the steak and beef ribs with a side dish of vegetables. Both mains were well prepared and tasty. A bottle of temperanello complemented our food. A memorable experience and we loved the internal Moroccon ambience. Thanks to the waiting staff.

white-taped fingers drummer

By Eytan R |

We went for drinks. It is a club-style place with disco music. It is fun and crowded. There was no cover but mandatory coat check (only $3). The deejay was not amazing but ok. During the night an arab white-taped fingers drummer appeared on the scene. At the beginning we liked it but after a while we realized that he just had a single rhythm in his repertoire. He also used to take a break every few seconds to adjust the tape in his fingers. Drinks were bad.

Total Disappoinment

By Shay N |

Le Souk is perfect if you are only there for drinks and hookah. It has the ambience more of a lounge than a restaurant. I took my husband there for a surprise dinner. Well the surprise is on us! First off, the waitresses are totally inexperience. The service was a little slow and the food is mediocre. The waitress at least in 3 separate occasions brought food that were ordered by other tables around us, our drinks never came, probably went to another table and the salad never arrived until I called the manager and explained the situation. The manager stood in disbelief as I told the him my gripe and offered as a consolation to give us free drinks. I refused to take it but if I am paying for services and food then the quality of service should also be provided. The salad came in the middle of our dinner and we opted to have our desserts to go. Not impressed at all!! The food as I said is mediocre.

The worst dinning experience ever.

By lovefortrav |

I wish I did not have to write about this experience because I really want to forget about it, but I am inclined to do so to prevent others from giving this place a chance. My friend and I chose this place because it looked appealing and with available seatting. We were seated outside at our request and were offered drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine that arrived with FILTHY glassware. I pointed that to our server and he seemed mortified, offered to replace it ad came back with stained, wet glassware without clearing the filthy one. We proceeded to let it go and ordered food. Our salads arrived. We did not have silverware. We had to ask for it. In fact our server never returned to our table. Our main courses never arrived! You know this is one of the situations when you just leave cash on the table and leave, but we decided we were not going to do that. We asked for our bill at least three times and the backwaiter said that he was sorry, but our server was just 'too slow'. Finally we had to go inside the restaurant and pay...and they could not figure out how to charge us only for what he have consumed! They finally 'did'. We left to then realize that they had charged my friend's card twice! My friend went back trying to make things clear, to get his money back...and they 'did not know how to'. I could go on and on about how unprofessional, incompetent this place is...I mean, one of the female servers was wearing a cross body purse! The manager was never aware of the situation until my friend returned to try to get his money back. This place is not out there to even provide mediocre service, we just did not get any.I wonder what the real purpose of their business is, because they do not have a clue about how to run a restaurant. You go to a restaurant to have dinner...to get some food. And they failed to deliver, atrociously.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money Here!

By rugbyplaer |

I visited Saturday January 8, 2011 and was totally disappointed! My friend and I ordered the Poulet Roti and the Bronzino. Neither meal meal had no taste, to the point that airline food was more tasteful and exciting. The gravy on the Poulet Roti totally tasteless. The bronzino was supposed to have been deboned, but had had all the meat and meat removed with the bones left. The food was totally without taste and flavor. The scary part of this meal was that the food came out about 5 minutes after we placed our order with the waitress. Which says the that the food is sitting in the kitchen just waiting to be served. Not a nice way to prepare and serve restaurant food. Several of the waitresses seemed to have some sort of attitude problem, that they seem too good to be serving patrons The only decent part of this meal was the belly dancer that did about a 20 minute show. This place should be left to the university students that live in the area. Much better Middle Eastern restaurants in NYC. Le Souk converts to a club about 10 PM so if you are still eating they will hurry you along to finish eating so they can remove your table to open the space up. .

Great brunch

By Tricia L |

My friends and I went for brunch on Sunday and the food was really good. They had s special chef that day with his team, Omar's kitchen, and all of our dishes were to die for. Absolutely perfect!!!! The next time that chef and his team are there I would go back. The lounge itself was just ok. The decor was dated and the tables were a bit low. Music was perfect and the staff was friendly. The waiter annoyed us just because he kept repeating that they only can take cards with the chip after we already gave them a chip card to hold as a deposit.

Loved the food, Enjoyed the hookah! Great place to visit in NYC

By JTTraveler50 |

My girlfirend and I ate dinner here on a Thursday night. We loved the food...we didn't even know some of the stuff we were eating but it was all very tasty. The service was good. After dinner, we enjoyed a hookah and partied upstairs where it can get a little wild and crazy. That was really fun as well. Definitely something unique and fun to try if you haven't been here.

Nice play to party any day of the week

By Joe K |

This is a nice place to party any day of the week does not matter if is monday or Sunday or whatver day they always have something going on, Go to the 3rd floor that's where the action is. Is not very fancy but good ambiance if you like nightclub kind of vibe.

Weak drinks, average food, poor service

By Ange516 |

We came here for dinner on a week night and were a bit disappointed. It looked very promising, both the ambiance but they don't live up to that. The drinks were super weak, really disappointing actually. We ordered herb infused cocktails but what we got tasted like prosecco. My friend had couscous and the vegetables were off. I had lamb which was actually quite nice. The starter we had was also nice. The service outside was poor, in the end, once it started transforming to night club they basically forgot about us and we had to go inside to find someone to attend to us... I guess it's a good dancing spot during week nights up on the third floor, that's what were told at least.

Rude manager

By Juliet L |

Worst customer service I have encountered - they over booked their restaurant and as a result didn’t honor our booking. As a result our party is left without plans on a Saturday and will be very difficult to find an alternative booking at such late notice. The manger finished the call by saying ‘I’m not even concerned about it’ and hung up. Unbelievably rude.
