Who would imagine that the best thing you could get at an italian place would be macaroni and cheese. You definitely need to get macaroni here-- if not as your main dish, get some for the table to share as an appetizer. It's really good. The rest of the food was decent italian food.

Decent Italian in the heart of Chelsea. Open for Brunch and Dinner. In the evening ask for a table out the back where they take better care of you! Apparently the Post voted the meatballs the best in NYC but I wouldn't put much faith in that. All the basics available at a decent price.

Wonderful, wonderful food and attentive service. Great beef bolognese, delightful duck breast, terrific Manhattan cocktail, and a delicious Gavi wine. Not a budget restaurant but worth every penny!

Small, intimate, noisy, homestyle Italian yet elegant dishes, wine or martinis in the lounge, dinner in the galleria, totally New York - be a native and hit this trattoria. One of our favorite restaurants when we're in the city.

I recently came down to NYC for a long weekend. A friend recommended Le Zie, a venetian italian restaurant with an extensive creative menu. The food was so good, we had to pass it around to share tastes. The braised octopus was to die for. The fried calamari and zucchini had a spicy dipping sauce with a wonderful kick. Some of our table's favorites were the monk fish, spaghetti with chicken meatballs and salmon with horseradish crust. The food was spiced perfectly to all our tastes, the presentation was very nice and service was excellent. While I always try to find new restaurants when I come down to the city, this one will most definitely have a return visit!

Had dessert after a show - chocolattissimo and ice cream. Incredible! My wife had creme brûlée - also outstanding.

Le Zie is one of neighborhood standbys, both for dining out and ordering in. It is a casual, convivial restaurant with great Italian food and reasonable prices. We eat here often and the food is consistently well prepared and served with professional and friendly service. Favorite dishes include the chicken picatta, rigatoni with rosemary veal ragout and the buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes. The tiramisu for desert is always good too!

I came for the lunch special. The steak was juicy and tasty and the fries were very good too. The baguette was excellent and the butter was really good. Overall this was a very good lunch special. I will return!

Met my son for lunch and he took me to LE Zie after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. From the outside as we were walking in, there didn't appear to be many diners, so initially I thought maybe our pick was a mistake. Slowly others did arrive, and I relaxed and enjoyed what turned out to be a lovely lunch. The bread was the good chewy kind and there was oil with garlic and olives to dip in. I ordered prosciutto with melon which was delicious. The melon was perfectly sweet against the saltiness of the prosciutto. I would have liked it even more with a balsamic glaze. My son ordered one of the specials, a pork chop on a bed of mashed potatoes. He gave me a taste and it too was delicious, great infused flavor that I believed was a result of a marinade. It was moist and thick, what more can you ask for? My potato gnocchi consisted of tiny soft pillows that melted in my mouth. Wherever I have ordered gnocchi, the sauce is different. Some make the sauce thick and red, others thin and orange. Some make it plain where the gnocchi is the star, others add bits of the freshest of mozzarella. This was a more plain style, with lots of large slices of garlic, and a thin sauce, and tiny bits of basil. I think I've had better, but this was well worth the price and I enjoyed it. The service was very good and attentive. I don't know if I'll go back as there are so many restaurants to try in NYC that I would probably like to visit them all!

Le Zie is my favorite local restaurant. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious (with generous portions), there's a great wine list, service is friendly and efficient, and prices are reasonable, especially for Manhattan. I've never had a bad meal at Le Zie. After the good bread with olive oil that's served at dinner, my starter of choice is the buffalo mozzarella: a nice ball of fresh cheese, some basil leaves, a few thick slices of ripe tomato, with olive oil and vinegar on the side. My favorite main dishes are the pastas, all of them. I have it on good authority that the seafood and dishes are also excellent - I don't eat them but I've never heard anything but raves from dining companions who have. The front room of the restaurant tends to have a high noise-level at prime mealtimes, so patrons who prefer a quieter atmosphere should ask to sit in the back dining room or - if it's open and not reserved for a private party - in the upstairs dining room.

Great little Italian place in Chelsea. Dined with locals in upstairs private, quiet dining area. Food was excellent. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. We shared appetizers and a variety of desserts. Entrees were reasonably priced. They offer a nice selection of wines. Would dine here again if in the area.

We have been in this restaurant during one month as we were spending one month in New York. Knowing Italian food and specially from Venezia, as I grow up in Ticino, I can really recommend this place as a true Italian restaurant. Manies are named Italian but not so manies are really Italian.

We've been to Le Zie many times over the years. The back room is our favorite. We recently went there for a birthday dinner with friends. The food is not fancy but good and the ambiance is lovely in the back room. Not a fan of the front room at all. My disappointment this time was the restrooms need a good cleaning. The stench of urine was overpowering (think a week-old litter box). This needs to be addressed ASAP. I'm surprised no one else has posted this as a problem.

great value in NYC; nice neighborhood restaurant, good portions, good prices, decent wine selection.

Went here with a group of friends based on it being conveniently located for us and some other reviews online--amazing choice! Everything we ate was exquisitely delicious! The service was friendly, fun, and professional. The atmosphere was perfect for a good night out with friends but I could see it being good for business too. Looking forward to coming back!

this place is a gem. Unpretentious with great, beautifully prepared Italian cuisine. The are polite efficient creative and just downright terrific. The place ain't noisy and you are never rushed. We sat for three hours and could have stayed longer. But it is the food and it is bright and heavenly and it won't break the bank either. Just go!!!

Love, love, love this place! I've been twice already. Food, atmosphere, and service are amazing! Very romantic too.

Good food in a good atmosphere but overall the dishes are very pricey. The cicchetti are excellent but also fantastic for them to make good money ($24). The markup on the salad must be outrageous. Some pasta dishes are between 20 to 25 dollars (portions are not generous). My friends were not happy with their branzinos but they did not say a word. Overall a good experience but pricey. It is mostly a neighborhood restaurant and people just bump into each there and start talking etc. etc. and occupy tables for hours. Service is actually average.

We love Venice and selected this restaurant because of its connection. Here's a recap of our experience. While quiet on entry at 5:45 PM, this small restaurant became intensely and painfully loud over the next hour. This interfered with our enjoyment. Some patrons haven't learned to use their "inside voices" -- and not just the 6 raucous young women at the next table (who topped off their evening by accidentally lighting their tablecloth on fire). Then there was the increasingly disturbing and frequent subway right beneath. Quite the atmosphere. Noise-cancelling earphones would have been gladly accepted and perhaps should be on the menu card. The decibel level and aural percussiveness would not be allowed by OSHA in an industrial setting. Maybe that's just New York City but it's juvenile. Visually the atmo is less than sophisticated with odd art and with upside down Santa dolls surfing on decorative waves above us. On the good side, servers were experienced and attentive enough. The cichetti plate for two (11 or 12 small selections of seafood and meats) was fine and would, with bread and wine, been enough for a light pre-theater meal. Wine by the glass was adequate. Tap water in tableside bottles was a nice touch. A special, a branzino cooked in salt was delicious, and after presentation at table, was expertly deboned by a headwaiter, who also sprinkled it with lemon and olive oil as an option. A slight but good side of boiled potato and escarole made it all a very nice item (though the $29 put it about $10 above regular entrees. The veal canelloni was okay but perhaps a little gummy and less than exciting. Pannacotta dessert was fine. The vin santo (dulcis) was way fruitier than real tuscan vin santo and was not enjoyed. The brachetto d'aqui was like a fruit juice rather than a wine but evidently the absence of alcohol is part of that dessert "wine." The $152 experience was a bit more than we had desired to spend. But we really wanted to enjoy it and to recall our experiences in Venice. The loudness during a meal (which in Italy would be regarded as awfully rude) took the experience from what could have been delightful and made it into kind of an endurance contest.

This place it's a delish! love how classy and friendly atmosphere.Perfect for a date! Bar,food and deserts all to die for!

We had a business dinner in the back room. The family style dinner allowed us to try several apps, salads and pastas and they were excellent. I’m not a big chicken parmigiana fan, but this one was so good.

We visited Le Zie twice: for lunch and for dinner. Generally speaking the food is very good and the service excellent. The fixed menu at lunch and the dinner are overpriced.

Had dinner here on November 16--very good meal, very good service and staff. Arrived when it was pouring rain and felt like a drowned rat! Excellent bread (ate so much, but could still enjoy my dinner and dessert). Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Much better than most in Little Italy without the touristy crowds. Don't eat at the chains either, you can go there at home and it will be the same stuff.

I originally stumbled over Le Zie while doing the "tourist thing" in Manhattan in 2000, and have since returned many times, and never been disappointed. Portions are generous and meals finically prepared when ordered - pasta's never been overcooked, the gnocchi I've had here have never been mushy (= precooked) or tough (= made with potato flour), and everything from cicchetti to dessert is accompanied by excellent selections of wine. Tell the waiters how much you can afford and they'll guide you to the best-for-your-buck bottle or glass.

Just what I needed: good Italian dinner, and the desert was very nice too. Good place to have a dinner after a busy day.

Excellent food!!! Delicious salmon, delicious Gnocchi. Good service! Had dinner there twice and both times had excellent food. Would go there again.

Had the pleasure of dinner at Le Zie recently. Very nice in every way. We had a quiet table in their charming back room. Very good Italian food (I had the vongole, one of my favorite Italian dishes). Good service. Quite reasonable prices, considering the quality. Convenient location. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Extremely pleased w this little gem of a restaurant. Our first time visiting nyc in awhile and I was searching for a memorable street side dining experience. This was it! Super staff, food and outdoor cafe ambience. We had tuna tartar, octopus, goat cheese app and a sepia pasta special along w a superb beverage! Outstanding! Good job guys! You’ll get back there and thanks for a memorable experience!

Slightly bizarre dinner in NY. As a paid food critic in the U.K. I’ve never experienced being pursued out of the door and up the street before. Worst of all, our server was also at best ‘unpleasant’ towards other members of staff as we tried to enjoy our dinner, creating a terrible atmosphere. The food was 3/5 but expensive for what it was - average food. Oh and probably my fault being a Brit but I’ve never been chased out of a restaurant for misunderstanding the tipping process. Awks. Dine elsewhere is my advice - or bring better running shoes…

I've eaten at this restaurant dozens of times since it opened years ago and I've never had a meal that disappointed. It doesn't try to be trendy and has held up while most of Chelsea had turned into chain stores and restaurants appealing to the suburbanites who flock to Chelsea on the weekend or overpriced nouveau cuisine appealing to those who need overpriced restaurants to match their overpriced apartments. True standouts are the very generously sized appetizer platter for two, fish cooked in salt (frequently Snapper), just about any of their lovingly tender braised meat dishes and their rabbit special. It's often very hard to decide because there's so many dishes that hold fond memories. Service is always friendly and professional. You'll be unlikely to find the bitter struggling actors (only waiting tables until they achieve the stardom to match their perceived talents) taking your order. I confess I rarely have room left for dessert but when I do, it never fails to disappoint. It is Manhattan so tables feel annoyingly close when the restaurant gets crowded. I enjoy going at the "off" time between lunch and dinner when it's rarely crowded. The wine list is needlessly long and as overpriced as most restaurants but you'll always be able to find the perfect wine for whatever you chose to eat. Restaurants come and go in Chelsea but this one is well into its second decade. I hope it stays for many more.

The new lounge is cozy with a nice selection of appetizers. Great after work spot.

Always excellent. The tortellini is to die for, the truffle Mac is heaven, and the fettuccine with truffle is addictive. Attentive service. Relatively quiet. Owner hovers to make sure all is well. Best Italian in Chelsea.

It's a little loud and smells like fish, but the food is solid, and the place is like an old friend. Go there once in while for the mini meat balls and spaghetti and the branzino.

It hits our triple play - great food, enjoyable ambience (you can even hear each other speak ) and superb service. It was our first time and we had tickets for a theater in the area and they could not have been more accommodating when we discovered we might be late. Our first visit but not our last

Really worth trying the mango mohito and the place has nice music and a cozy environment in the heart of NYC. Recommended!

I first went to Le Zie about 8 years ago with my wife and have been back at least once on every trip to NYC, including twice in January 2012. Le Zie is a neighborhood plavce but I see it as a destination restaurant -- everything I have ever had there is excellent. I like risotto and they always have one as a special. All of their pastas are excellent. The beef and lamb dishes have been uniformly delicious. I usually get their bronzino (Mediterranean sea bass) baked in a crust of salt, which is then served nicely separated at tableside; this is a very mild but tasty fish. They also have numerous unusual appetizers with a Venetian influence. The wine list is very good, and service has always been friendly and efficient. It's expensive in absolute terms but that's Manhattan for you.

We love this restaurant and have been coming since it opened. It's the perfect place to get great great Italian food. We had the Vongole, ravioli and lobster risotto with truffle. Eat here 😊😉.

Our family of four loved this place. All of our meals were excellent (chicken parm, gnocchi, chicken piccata). Fabulous space with 3 bars and dining room options. Will go back.

We had the prix fix lunch. Pear Salad, eggplant Parmesan, Branzino were all excellent. The desserts were exceptional: panna cotta and tiramisu. Nice lunch atmosphere. Wine by the glass was also well chosen.

....you typically enter on 7th Ave, but Zie has a number of rooms, and a very cool bar, tucked away inside. Dinner was delicious, all in our party liked their meals. Large wine list, excellent service, and reasonable for the quality and value. Will return.

We went to Le Zie in January and were so pleased that we decided to go back when we needed to choose a place to eat on our recent trip back to NYC. Great location for dinner just before a show at The Joyce Theater. The Italian food is delicious, the portions just right, and the variety is also great. I have food allergies and did not have any issues whatsoever. Some of the wait staff seems to be new at the job, but did well despite that. They also have a good selection of wines. The food is excellent and it was prepared with care but did not take forever. Definitely something important when you have tickets to a performance. We will definitely go back when we go to NYC again.

We were a group of 6 for a dinner. It was pure fun. All the dishes were tasty the wine was great and the atmosphere good. What else can you ask from a place. Good dishes that were on the table - prociotto and Burata, artichoke salad, ravioli with fish, white clam sauce pasta and others. Highly recommended

My frend recommend me Le Zie so I had high expectation. Unfortunately my visit was not worth of the money. Service was poor and finaly we ended up to take a risotto wich was not worth of the money - 30$.

The lunch menu was really a buy. You would spend more at a second rate chain, except for the wine (which was in line with most restaurants). The atmosphere was very pleasant and the wait staff friendly and attentive. There were mostly regulars when we were there which attests to the restaurants staying power. I will be going back for dinner. Let me know if you agree.

The artichoke appetizer is quite possibly the best thing I ate during our week in NYC. My son liked his tuna ravioli, but my daughter wasn't crazy about the spaghetti and meatballs. The ambiance is charming, and the service was good.

I have been to this restaurant many times and have never had a bad meal. You can enter on a side street , 20th Street, I believe, and they have a small cozy bar where you can start your evening. One of the nights I was there they had delicious bread sticks on the bar. Their signature drinks were great but expensive. One of our visits was on a pleasant summer evening and they had the large bar windows open..so relaxing. The food is Italian, fresh and flavorful...specials are always great. The main dining room in the front of the restaurant can get loud, but there are back and upstair rooms also. Prices are reasonable for Manhattan. I have been here with relatives and friends and they all seem to enjoy the restaurant.

I am a HUUGE fan of this place. A neighborhood restaurant that has a warm and friendly feel to it. From the minute you enter the hostess and waiters are gracious and efficient. The food is top notch. I can honestly say we have NEVER had a bad meal here. When our friends ask for a place to eat when they go the Garden for an event we always tell them take the ten block walk and eat here.

For the second year in a row, we ate at Le Zie (means Aunt in Italian) and were once again impressed. We spent almost 3 hours there with a friend and enjoyed the Arugula/ Feta Salad, the Clam Linguini, the salt encrusted bronzino (you have to ask for it) and the thin flank steak and pommes frites. The house chardonnay is also very good and reasonable. Desserts (pictured) were amazing. Service was excellent and its reasonable quiet so you can carry on a conversation. The Bronzino is completely encrusted with a heavy layer of salt and then then baked. The salt crust is removed at your table and this fish is very good! I mean good!

Fettucine with mushrooms was very good. Carefully prepared with mushrooms and mushroom sauce, not just thrown together. Mezzamaniche sausage also excellent. Profiteroles excellent dessert. Good selection of reasonably priced wines by the glass.

Usually I don't go to Italian restaurant been an Italian I prefer go to more exotic flavored that I can't cook myself, say do and said also that it wasn't my choice, I was really impressed by the place a two floor restaurant and by the quality of the food, we was ten people and it was after a long week shooting for a catalogue, we share most of the plates the selection of the wines was outstanding, the waiter was knowledgeable about the plates and the price are in line with almost any restaurant of this quality in the city!! If you like Italian food and good service it's a place to try:)

We were underwhelmed by first impression of sidewalk seating, but we’re led through the kitchen to a side area with sidewalk seating on a quiet street. We had a leisurely lunch, no noise issues and decent service.

Been here a couple of times and always seems to have a nice meal. They don't rush you out of here. You can relax and have a good meal and linger over your coffee if you want to. I had the risotto with shrimp. Nice and creamy with that bite to the rice that you would expect from this dish. Wonderful! My bride had the bacon wrapped monk fish which she said was cooked perfectly. We finished off with the profiteroles. Yummy! Do yourself a favor, visit this neighborhood restaurant which is close enough to the Garden if you're going there for an event.

Went therr for brunch last weekend. They were the doughiest pancakes I've ever had. What a disappointment!

"The best spaghetti and meatballs" in New York are no better than those at Sbarro's. The waiter refused to bring a spoonful of the artichoke soup for tasting (even frozen yogurt shops offer that!). We had to ask three times for a bit more olive oil for the bread. Although zesty, the beets in the salad were pickled. And the coffee was stale. This is diner food with high prices. I think I'll look for a diner next time.

Great service, genuine, friendly atmosphere. Food delicious. Have eaten here many times with our favorite New York friends.

I went with three friends for dinner on new year's eve. This restaurant reminds me of the old days: candles, no loud crowds, a place where you feel like sitting up straighter. I ordered the lamb shank which was delicious with small roasted potatoes. And I had mango sherbert for dessert. Our waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. The only problem was I couldn't see the menu without my phone's flashlight, so remember to bring your phone! The meal was more pricey than I'm used to, but that's me.

I thoroughly enjoyed my strong old fashioned, my grilled pork chop and the sorbet. Nice little restaurant with a great atmosphere and staff.

the bolognese sauce has a unique blend of veal and pork. There are added ingredients that make this special! The black olives in oil, warm bread and even warmer welcome make this one of my favorite haunts to visit. Unlike some snooty NY restaurants, a solo diner is made to feel as precious as a party of ten! I have often popped in here by myself to grab a delicious meal on a busy night and I am always treated well! This is a great place to eat after shopping in Chelsea or the flatiron district !

When in NYC I always like to get back to this place. Good Italian food wonderful ambiance and feel good place. The spaghetti with meatballs was great and the burTa was also wonderful

Came here in late fall, the night before Halloween. I was very pleasantly surprised by how warm and cozy this restaurant is. I loved the beautiful lighting especially. My pasta was delicious, and it paired really well with my Pinot noir.

We had an enjoyable meal and the wait staff was excellent. However, the food tasted just average to us despite glowing recommendations from friends and media. It may have been the dishes we ordered...but that is all we had to judge. Our main complaint was that the dishes seemed to lack any significant flavor. We had ordered the Pici which was pasta handrolled with asparagus and other vegetables and the gnocchi. Both dishes seemed bland and uneventful. The roasted beet salad was also nothing extraordinary. The wine was extra delicious though!

My dinner date and I ate here last Thursday and due to lovely weather, were able to sit outside. They had many specials of the day, appetizers as well as main courses. We shared a soft shell crab appetizer and then I had Risotto with shrimp in a lemon sauce which was divine. Service superb and we had several glasses of vino a Fun place with great food and good value

Food is always good, ambiance comfortable. Outdoors or in, always a good experience. Tiramisu is great.

Sophisticated, casual restaurant and bar scene in Chelsea. Fresh, well prepared local foods in Venetian style. Super chic small bar on 20th Street, leads to romantic back room. Interesting mix of Europeans and downtowners. Very good value wine list and eclectic menu with comfort Italian food, too. Feels like the real thing. A visit is like going on vacation to Italy or maybe San Francisco. Charming manager/owner Claudio oversees all, formerly of Remi in Santa Monica.

I met a friend (a local) here on her recommendation. It is close to where I used to work, but I had never been before and it was really delicious. I had never heard of it before, but it was a nice surprise in Chelsea! Good value, nice ambiance. I had chicken picatta and it was prepared well and I ate every bit of it! Dessert was good too.

We have been living in the neighboring area and were interested to have an Italian dinner in a good venue that offer quiet and comfortable sitting. Le Zie has realized our expectations. We were sitting in the back-hall and surprisingly the restaurant was much larger than we could think. the staff is friendly and you do not wait for your table.

I must say, they're known for their spaghetti and meatballs (the spaghetti is nothing short of spectacular!), but I think the real star of the menu is their lasagna! It's velvety in texture and utterly decadent. I've now had 2 of my holiday parties here, but am also a very regular regular. They have a mustard vinaigrette that is simply to die for too! So many standout items on the menu, all further enhanced by the incredible service.

Most Italian restaurants in Manhattan are either waaaayy overpriced, stuffy or both. Le Zie is the antithesis of those establishments -- intimate, cozy and of great value. We arrived between 8-9 pm and were seated immediately at a cozy table near the front window. The expansive wine list and a thorough trip through Italian culinary options (including about eight daily specials) introduced us to Le Zie. The goat cheese in tomato sauce appetizer is phenomenal. We highly recommend it. For entrees we selected the potato gnocchi and the tuna ravioli, both delivered very fresh in a creamy tomato sauce. Both dishes were delicious -- we recommend both. For dessert it was tirami su and ricotta cheese cake with strawberries ... though there were about five or six other options we "almost" went with. Likewise, our choices were again excellent, as was the service and the setting.

Small restaurant charmed our group of 6 on a Saturday night. Authentic dishes prepared perfectly, from starters through to dessert. Ample staff kept us taken care of even when our primary server was busy with another. Tables are close so not as intimate for some, but I felt it was pretty typical for a NY restaurant.

I had an experience here that I never would have thought possible at any restaurant, much less one that came recommended by a friend. We went on New Year's Eve for dinner, expecting a nice Italian dinner, with a reputation that was very strong. Our dinner was ok, though the waiter told us they were out of 4 of the entrés. We understood being it was late on NYE. However, you must be careful eating here. The staff are a questionable group, with criminal-like behavior. I was given a "complimentary" shot from one of the staff members after the midnight hour and encouraged to drink it...on the house. The drink was soap (yes, I could not believe it either). They apparently had novelty bubble mix that was put into little champagne bottles. I was on the phone wishing some family from out of town a Happy New Year, and the employee came over and said "Happy New Year! Drink this! On the house.". I took one small sip, and my throat was on fire. What happened next was just as unbelievable. When the staff member was approached, he returned with some guys from the kitchen and, in a very threatening way, approached me and my party. He was acting as though he did not know what we were upset about, but then got aggressive. I have written to the owner, but have not heard back. Things happen when people are partying on NYE, but one does not expect to me given a toxic, dangerous drink as a prank (? was it a prank?) by a restaurant employee. If this is what happens at Le Zie, I'm not sure what else is happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. I will not be returning to this restaurant (nor will my friends who originally recommended it), and I suggest you do the same.

A sidewalk cafe on 7th Ave in Chelsea, the real jewel is the bar located on 20th street. It is a true delight. Cozy with nice lighting, there is a small bar with a few cozy booths, Sunday Tuesday and Thursday the bartender plays an amazing soundtrack of 60s and 70s from the best of Phila International, Motown and others that sets a chill mood.Al Green, Bill WIthers and so many great songs you've forgotten, like At Last. The menu of Grappa, Scotch and Whisky is varied, as well as cocktails.

Fun and cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant with Venetian overtones. Not fancy decor but good food and service. Recently went for brunch on a Sunday and they had a brunch menu with eggs and other brunch favorites but also offered pastas and pizzas as well as we could order from the full menu too. We had the chicken liver brochettes which were awesome, followed by a beet and cheese salad and a typical arugula salad with feta, cucumbers and red tomato slices. The salads and main courses were served with delicious fresh bread and a dish of olive oil with olives and roasted garlic cloves for dunking. For main courses we had two different pastas both delicious. For dessert we had an order of profiteroles and one of a warm chocolate cake with a hot chocolate center. Both delicious and both big enough to share, unfortunately when we asked the server about the size of the desserts he was not forthcoming and did not tell us how big the portions were. So I recommend that you press your server on the size of a dish you might want to share it. The same thing happened when we asked about the size of the salads, we could have ordered one for two since they were large. Also do asked the price of the specials not on the menu since we found out they are normally more expensive than the menu prices.

My husband and I both had pasta dishes. In our opinion his lasagna was dry and could have had some sauce and my mushroom pasta was dry to the point that I used some of the olive oil for the bread on it. Upon telling the waiter of this concern, he indicated that the dish I ordered is supposed to be dry. I have ordered this particular combination in several retaurants and have not experienced this extreme dryness. This restaurant was recommended. However, it was disappointing for us.

We came late, were amazed by how big this place is, i.e., so many rooms connected by passages. Tables are close together, so can be noisy. Service impeccable. Drink orders immediate. A manager came to move our table away from next party for more privacy. We had appetizers of eggplant, sardines; mains of lamb shank, pasta, beef. All in Venetian/Northern Italian style that differs from the South. No room for dessert. A little on the expensive side but basically a top-flight find!

Basics done well.

We went to Le Zie as it was only a block or so away on a rainy night. Welcoming at first but we later wondered why you'd put a group of 4 out-of-towners in a small back room nearly full of couples having quiet Sunday evening conversations when the front of house was pretty empty. The starters were excellent and the wine very reasonable. However, the marinara was spoiled by the garlic being burned and everyone had cold (not cool but cold) plates. When we were asked how our meals were, we told them and were given complimentary biscotti but were not spoken to on leaving and had to retrieve our own coats. There were good aspects here but with too many other options in NY, we'll probably not go back.

Good Italian food done well. Nothing flashy or surprising. I would go back again to continue to try out the variety on the menu.

We have been neighbors for 15 + years but for some reason I only went to Le Zie two months ago. Since then I have been there at least ten times of lunch and dinner. I am now recognized as a regular. The evening specials are special and change in a way that makes it clear that the chef is driven by the availability of fresh ingredients that trigger his imagination. The back room is more quiet and the bar is charming. Worth a visit and fairly priced.

We have been going to Le Zie for years and we always enjoy ourselves. The staff is attentive and I'm impressed that there have been familiar faces for all the years we've been going there. The specials list is always long and worthwhile so be sure to hear it before you get too far into the menu. The pici is a longtime favorite although they call it Hand Rolled Strigoli now. The bar entered from the side street is wonderful for a cocktail or light fare.

The appetizers were wonderful and the food very good. Really enjoyed sharing various menu items and the drink menu was very good. Try to be seated in the front dining room.

We started with eggplant rollatini. It was delicious. I had the rigatoni bolognese (at the waiter's suggestion). It was very flavorful but not too heavy. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs- they were some of the best meatballs I've had. They weren't dry, they were light and flavorful. We then had profiteroles for dessert. There were 3 little ones on the plate which made it perfect for sharing. I'd eat here again in a heart beat.

This neighborhood destination in the heart of Chelsea offers great Italian fare at reasonable prices. They tout a "best spagetti and meatballs in Manhattan" review and, while meatballs and sauce are very subjective tastes, it comes as close to my Sicilian grandmother's as I've had. They have knowledgeable bartenders and an extensive wine list, and though the main dining area can get a bit loud, there's a very quaint back dining area and a cozy cocktail lounge which offers the entire menu. I've been going there as long as I've lived in the neighborhood and though I often want to branch out and try new places and neighborhoods, I'm always drawn back to Le Zie where I'm sure to get a great meal from a friendly face.

We met friends here while in the city over Memorial Day weekend. We first stumbled on this place a year and a half ago while walking thru the neighborhood, and were highly impressed. This second visit didn't disappoint. We started with the calamari starter with fried zucchini chips. One of the menu specials was a duck ragu over handmade pappardelle pasta, which was excellent. The rest of the party had the rigatoni Bolognese, and the lasagna. For dessert we had one of the best cakes I've had in a long time, and a trio of vanilla, chocolate and lemon sorbets. Hint: if it's not to late and the weather is good, go over a few blocks and get on the highline for a nice walk. Overall, a great neighborhood restaurant that makes its own pastas.

I ate here with some business colleagues during my first trip to New York and very much enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lovely, and the dining room seemed buzzing with life. I ate a simple and lovely mushroom garlic fettuccine. The service was attentive, although even considering that we had a group of 8, it did seem as though it took a long time for our server to get drink orders figured out. After our server finally did take our dinner order the food arrived in a reasonable time frame. But the total time from sitting down to receiving our food was an hour. Thank goodness for great bread! Like I mentioned, I was here with business colleagues, and it was a great atmosphere. But I could see myself coming back to this restaurant with my fiance if we ever visit New York together. The dishes all looked so good on the menu that I had a hard time making a selection. We arrived at Le Zie by way of the Subway, but to top the night off I took advantage of some great weather and had a very enjoyable walk back to my hotel.

must say, very good italian kitchen, good wine

Went there on a recommendation from our AirBnB host. My wife had the Rigatoni alla Bolognese and I had the Spaghetti with Meatballs. Both dishes were plenty and delicious. Service was friendly and great - we never were short on ice water. Unfortunately, we had no room left for dessert, but we had cappuccino and espresso, which were tasty. The atmosphere was intimate and candlelit. A bit on the expensive side, but overall a pleasant neighborhood dining experience.

Ate there or take out 4 times. Eating in, romantic atmosphere , good service and consistently good food. Ate take out twice. The chicken is wonderful comfort food and I loved the Pici. For NYC, good prices.

LeZie is a beautiful space in a great neighborhood. It was within walking distance of my hotel and seemed to have decent reviews. Having visited Venice, I was hoping to relive that culinary experience. When we arrived, the place was packed, which is also a good sign. But unfortunately, Le Zie is just simply underwhelming. It is also EXTREMELY NOISY. We looked forward to our appetizer of "Fried Calamari and Zucchini, Spicy Tomato Sauce" ($13). The calamari was underfried (or fried in oil that wasn't hot enough) and rubbery. The tomato sauce was over-the-top spicy, even for those of us used to it. The best part was the slightly crispy zucchini. But the entire dish was swimming in grease (see photo) I chose the quintessential dish of "Venetian Style Calf’s Liver, Sautéed Onion, Polenta" ($22). The veal was underdone and swimming in an underflavored onion sauce of sorts rather than a delicious mound of caramelized onions. The polenta, as well as another 'mystery' puree that was on the plate, was simply bland and unappealing to the eye. The entire entree was basically the same texture. This dish was just aching for something that wasn't the consistency of baby food, something crispy and green...and some flavor. (see photo) My dining partner chose the "Rigatoni, Rosemary Veal Ragout" ($18). This entree was much tastier, with added herbs and cheese. But the veal was at a minimum within the sauce. Not bad, but not great either. Just sort of meh. The decibel level of the noise in the dining room was absurd. It got louder and louder over the course of the dinner, making conversation across the table inconvenient and uncomfortable. The tiny table was just enough to fit the necessities. We were squeezed in like sardines. This is certainly no place for romance. This is not a restaurant that I would return to on my next visit to NYC.

The service was attentive without hovering. I ordered one of the specials--a lamb and winter vegetable risotto and it was outstanding. My dining companions had the gnocchi and the monkfish respectively and they were delighted with their choices.

Excellent Italian food, good service, pleasant atmosphere, busy, but not too loud, reasonable prices.

We arrived around 9pm and the restaurant was packed but we were seated promptly, but in an awkward corner table. Tables were very close together and it felt like we were dining with the people at the next table! The food is excellent. I had the linguine with clams and my partner had the gnocchi, the bread was fresh and the olive oil (complete with olives, herbs, & garlic) was perfect. (We got a second helping of the bread...wish I could have some more of that olive oil!) Desert was creme brulee and profiteroles, both were well prepared and delicious (especially the creme brulee!). The best part - it's very affordable. Entrees are about $13.

Continues to not disappoint. Sun is back out so sit outside and enjoy a good lunch menu with a glass of rose. True Italian food or stick with eggs.

Had a fabulous meal here last week with friends. Claudio and his team took great care of us ( Ari and Jimmy ) Great service , apps and the Bronzino was top shelf. Excellent Italiano red vino. Topped off with the cappy and creme brûlée.....a real winner. Grazie e ciao

Been going here for 10-15 years. Amazing array of wines and dishes and I've never had a bad dish. More likely I've been knocked out by the quality and price and variety. Proprietor always on premises and a wonderful reserved and elegant but in charge spirit. Staff stays with restaurant over years and years. Wonderful clientele that ranges from locals to celebrities (yes, more than once I've spotted). Chelsea at its best. NY Italian food to die for. Front and back rooms as well as bar/banquette area with food, and an upstairs. Impressive bar selection and wines from bargain basement to out of your league. Fish here is tremendous...but oh the pasta!

I loved the atmosphere… relaxed yet classy. Went early on a Saturday. Enjoyed my cocktail, appetizer of fried calamari/zucchini, the duck ravioli and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. It was a celebratory night and we weren’t rushed. The waitstaff was superb. Even enjoyed an after dinner drink at the bar. By 8 pm the place was packed.

We were looking for a cozy, quiet restaurant near the Rubin Museum of Art, and I was lucky enough to choose this one. We had a 4:45 reservation, since we (non-New Yorkers) were heading to a lecture at the Museum at 7PM. Service was wonderful and the food was great. Both my husband and I ordered from the "specials" menu. I had Pappardelle with Pork Ragu, which was delicious. He had the spaghetti chock full of Mediterranean bass with garlic and onion and cherry tomatoes. Yum. The pasta was freshly made, of course (you can always tell the difference). For dessert, I had the panna cotta with strawberries. Excellent. It is a pleasure to recommend this restaurant!.

5 stars Arugula Salad 5 stars Leek & Potato soup 5 stars Ricotta cheese cake 4 stars Eggplant Appetizer 3 stars Gnocchi with tomato and cheese sauce 1 star Worlds Best Spaghetti & Meatballs (my husband got sick) 1 star Arrogant Server with dramatic Italian accent I wanted to like this place but for $13.50 per person more, you get a better food with a less pretentious attitude.

Just popped in on the off chance at 6.30 and got lucky with a table for two. Lots of home made bread and olives and garlic in oil before we even chose. Chose the mixed main dinner of different Italian delicacies (cicchetti) for two people which was only $29 ( not each but for the whole thing) and nicely presented too. waitress helped us choose a quality red wine whilst I stuck with prosecco. Main course filling but we shared a lovely strawberry ricotta cheesecake anyway and a nice muscat as well. Pity I had no space for the homemade ice cream. All for under $90 just. VERY attentive waiters but not pushy and quality food.

Chelsea Italian at its best. Nice quiet room in the back worth a try. Specials every night! Martini was very generous, Leek soup was tasty and did not separate. Bread was fresh and plentiful. Oil not served separately but with bathing olives. the shrimp pasta was fresh and not skimpy on the shrimps. Seasoned just right. Family friendly but booster seats and no high chairs. Prompt service. A good bet.

We had dinner at Le Zie while visiting New York and cannot say enough about the service, food, or ambiance. I called ahead to find out if a menu item would work for our picky eater and the woman who answered the phone went to the kitchen to ensure that her answer was correct. When we walked in, the space felt intimate and welcoming and then … just kept going. We were seated on the third floor but the service was still superb. Our server was friendly and accommodating, the food and wine were delicious, and there was a staff member posted nearby to ensure that our water glasses stayed full and that we had everything we needed. The roasted half chicken (which does include a breast, if you’re wondering) was tender and well seasoned, as were the chicken piccata and braised short ribs. If you are in Chelsea and looking for a luscious Italian meal look no further.

We happened upon this jewel on New Year's Eve. We had no reservation but there was no problem. We felt welcome; service was excellent, menu very unusual and just delicious.n We were attending a late night party and wanted to eat light. So many choices to fit any palate!

My large group was able to arrange to have the full restaurant for the evening for a terrific price. The staff was amazing, kind, and warm. The food choices were all delicious. Having our reunion at Le Zie was a wonderful decision.

We made it to Le Zie after an incredibly full day of sightseeing. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat us immediately. Our server recommended a delightful wine to accompany our meal when we couldn't make up our minds. We both loved our dinners -- my husband had the ricotta and spinach tortelli, and I had the special which was a pasta with Italian sausage and a light red sauce. Mine was perfectly balanced -- sauce was not too heavy, but enough to work with the crumbled sausage -- delicious! The raspberry souffle with chocolate gelato was a light and tasty way to end the meal. I wish that we had not been quite so tired, as I think we would have enjoyed many other options on the menu as salads or appetizers, but we just kept it simple. Guess that will be for next time!

We had dinner at Le Zoe in the main dining room on Monday 6/4. The dining room had an odd aroma somewhere between sardines and dirty cat litter that kept wafting. Food was marginal at best, the staff inattentive. We love the bar space that’s around the corner, but won’t be returning to the main dining room ever again. Disappointing.

One of the best dinners I had in NY and at half the price of meals at other restaurants that were not nearly as good. I walked in without a reservation and the staff made me feel welcome right away. Service was excellent throughout the evening, which is something I don't always find when eating alone. Would be a great place to take a date - quiet for NY, great atmosphere, a lovely dining room. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious - sea bass and broccoli raab. It was a nightly special, but definitely order it if they have it. I will definitely return.

I dined at LeZie with a coworker on 9/19. We arrived at approximately 6:45 and were immediately seated; within an hour, the restaurant was full. The menu offers plenty of choices. I had the roasted beet salad, which was fine, but not excellent, mostly because some of the beets were grilled to the point of being burned. I chose a special for my entree; it was a white fish cooked in a salt covering. It was perfectly cooked, both moist and slightly sweet. As a previous diner mentioned, the bread is wonderful. There were several choices along with a garlic and olive infused oil. As a result, I chose to have coffee and Sambuca rather than dessert. My co-worker enjoyed her chicken piccata, although she would have preferred a more flavorful sauce. Despite the recent health scare, we both had steamed spinach with our entree; it was delicious. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant for good food at fair prices.

casual and simple italian. meatballs are good and there is a decent wine list. the branzino is always good. try to get a table in the back by the garden though

Le Zie has become our "go to" for Italian. Not your average "red sauce" place although the spaghetti and meatballs (beef or chicken) are excellent. Salads are always fresh, often with an unexpected twist. My husband often orders fish - the salmon is terrific and cooked perfectly. Bartender Constance is the best!!

With the renovated Irish Rep reopening, we looked forward to revisiting Le Zie, a short walk from the theater. Our last visit was three years ago. Unfortunately, the trattoria has slipped a notch; prices are up and portions are down. Two of us ordered Sea Scallops with asparagus risotto and peas; the entree was served with two scallops and watery risotto. The Horseradish Crusted Salmon with snap peas, carrots and sundried tomato was quite good. Wine prices are up about 25% since our last visit ($55/bottle for Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay vs. $43 last time), so we just ordered by the glass. Our waiter's recommended Gavi di Gavi was bitter; came from a bad bottle. It was replaced The flourless chocolate cake that we shared for dessert was excellent, although the extra whipped cream my wife requested never appeared.

Really stumbled into this place. the staff could not have been more polite and attentive. We sat by the window which was nice, although the couch was a tad uncomfortable. The food was really good. Excellent bass special with a great salad, and really good lamb chop. We found a nice Italian Nebbiolo wine at a good price and we lingered and had a nice time. No rush. A nice find

A great restaurant is a little bit like a family--you start to recognize the people who work there from year to year because they are glad to stay with a well-run kitchen. The maitre d' at Le Zie seems to know us personally, and settling in for a meal is a great feeling. They have an excellent wine list. The food is always fresh, well-balanced, never too rich, elegantly presented, and the flavors rising to your palate have authentic character. The basic ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves and do not have to be covered up to hide any sins. The espresso is so rich it doesn't need a dessert to go with it, although the sweets are tasty too. Go early for crowd energy or go late to enjoy tete a tete conversation after the noisy mobs have drifted away.

It's hard to get bad Italian food in NYC and this Chelsea neighborhood spot doesn't disappoint. With sidewalk tables in the summer, to a happening bar in a separate room, the intimate ambiance is as appealing as the food. The appetizers were delish-- including meatballs, braseola with braised leeks and arugula, and squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta. The main courses of rigatoni with veal ragu, chicken piccata, and tuna ravioli, were all very tasty and well prepared. The wine list is all Italian so a bottle of crisp white Vernaccia from San Gimigagno paired well with everything. A clientele of locals, and even families filled the chic rooms on a Sunday night. Definitely recommend.

Went early evening - awesome Martinis. Enjoyed ravioli stuffed with duck. Service friendly and quick. Recommend for casual dining.

Ate here following recommendations on this site. Good Italian food (nearby subway rather noisey!) and excellent service.

This was recommended by a lady where we were staying and was a great little restaurant with very friendly staff and good food. As a vegetarian my choices were limited but despite that the food was very good. I would go back just for the goats cheese in tomato sauce that I had for starter alone!

If you are in New York's Chelsea are you really must try this fab place, great atmosphere, very efficient, happy staff, superb food.

I eat at LeZie quite often. A good place for an intimate dinner in the back patio or to take large groups. The food is always perfect, authentic Italian, not too pricy. Great neighborhood restaurant in Chelsea with friendly staff... reservations are helpful

Good Italian wine list.

I live across the street and dine here frequently! Most items are a must, but my favorites are the Sauteed shrimp appetizer with white beans, the Roast Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and the Rigatoni with sausage pasta dish. Bursting with flavor!!!! Also, they have a reasonably-priced bottle of Malbec from Argentina I really enjoy! There is a cute bar/side entrance and I recommend sitting in the back room which is more intimate and less noisy!

Went to Le Zie for the first time last Thursday night before a performance at the Joyce Theatre. Turned out to be an excellent choice. Not crowded (but a weekday night), quiet and very nice dining environment. Extensive menu and very good service plus well prepared food. Excellent martini and generous wine pours. Highly recommend.

Along with friends, we often attend plays at the Irish Repertory Theater on 22nd St., followed by a short walk to dinner at Le Zie. Our most recent visit was marked by superlative service, very good food and an early departure before the noise level peaked. The Chicken Piccata with lemon sauce and sautéed spinach, Monk Fish wrapped in Pancetta with braised leeks in a white wine broth and slowly cooked Salmon with horseradish crust, snap peas and carrots drew rave reviews, as did the Swordfish and Lamb Shank. However, a Scallops and Saffron Risotto special was soupy with undercooked rice. DiDi, our server, knew the menu and specials inside out and provided sound advice and exceptional service. The wine list is extensive and includes some bargains (e.g., Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay at $43/bottle). Pasta entrees are under $20 and other entrees generally are under $25. When you book, ask for seating in the Galleria.

We were looking for something a little special for a last night in NYC, and chose here because of good reviews and we were staying nearby. We were really pleased we did. Great fresh bread and some very fine arancini to start. My gnocchi was excellent and my wife’s lasagne was one of the best she has had. Shared some good wine from extensive list, coffee great too. Our waitress was super. There are cheaper choices elsewhere but this is definitely worth it.

Reasonably close to Penn Station where we met or friends. Great bread, always a good sign. 3 of us had rigatoni bolognese, excellent. Add a Cesar salad, nice atmosphere and service excellent! Saturday night in the NYC... Don’t skip the profiteroles!

LE Zie was very good, but it is not inexpensive. The service was very attentive in a typical intimate New York setting. I had a handmade pasta dish with asparagus. It was nice but a bit bland. I think that it would have been better with more vegetables. My wife's chicken chicken picatta was very good. It wouldn't be my first choice in the neighborhood, but I would go back.

With 3 different types of setting, a wine bar, formal and more local feel out front you can choose how you want to enjoy your meal. All food is fresh and tasty with a good supporting wine list. The food never disappoints.

I have been visiting le Zie for years and it has never let me down. It is a very good neighborhood Italian restaurant with consistently excellent service. The kitchen is famous for its meatballs and spaghetti but most of their pasta dishes are great. It is worth listening to the daily specials (one, the branzino baked in a salt crust is always on the specials list) - the tagliata is particularly nice and is also often a special. The restaurant is also notable for having some of the strongest cocktails in New York. The trick here is always to ask for a table in the back room as it is way, way nicer than the front room or the street (which being on busy 7th avenue is pretty challenging).

Been going here for nearly 8 years. Always good, always classic, always busy. Good food, good wine choices and fair prices.

We went to my nieces graduation dinner at Le Zie. Great atmosphere - not too noisy but has nice energy. Waiters are attentive, pleasant and professional. I recommend the fresh buffalo mozzarella, basil and tomato salad to start. We had a homemade ricotta and spinach tortelli dish for the second course. Melted in our mouths. I split my main course and had a superb dish of linguine with tiny clams, garlic and parsley. There was a touch of red pepper flakes which added a nice touch to the dish. We also had Bronzino cooked perfectly, moist on the inside and a nice crust on the outside. We split the desserts. They also served complimentary biscotti's and tiny treats!!! Enjoy, I know you will.

We came for an early dinner. It was lovely and quiet. Unfortunately our waitress was TOO quiet. None of us could hear her go over the specials. When we asked her to speak up, she replied that she had a cold. They got all three of our orders wrong. Food was cold. The manager who was standing nearby didn't bother to apologize. The waitress brought us a plate of biscotti as a way to make amends. Over $100 for three lousy meals. On the way out I spoke to the manager and he was defensive and rude. There are better Italian restaurants nearby. Try Zio on 19th between 5th and 6th. They are warm and the food is too!

Le Zie has been on my short list of NYC restaurants for many years. It is comfortable, but a bit loud. You may have to wait for a table on off-nights, and definitely on busy nights. There are two dining rooms, one of which is in the back through the kitchen area. The front (main dining room) is preferable. I love the whole bronzino fish...it is prepared beautifully. It is a whole fish, but they can filet it for you tableside. It is affordable and fun!

I love this Chelsea place. It is small and cozy and serves good hearty Italian food. This time we were two and not that hungry. We shared Muzzarela with tomato and basil which was what you expect. Good cheese fresh tomato and good balsamic. I would add more olive oil. Then we had two classics - linguini with clams and lasagne. Both were good tasty and extremely satisfying. We skipped deserts (not hungry...). One glass of Valpolicela made this meal a very good one.

This neighborhood jewel offers well-executed fare delivered with care and attention to guests. Start with calamari and zucchini. The zucchini is paper thin and lightly crisp. Eggplant rollatini an utter pleasure to eat and share (reluctantly). We had whole branzino perfectly baked in salt filleted and drizzled with olive oil and lemon. . . fabulously simple, succulent and right. Even the spaghetti and meatballs were great. Go but don't take my table.

Lunch arriving in NYC is always a sure bet at Le Zie. The Branzino with potatoes was delicately cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu was exceptional. Possibly the best.

Went there for a late lunch. I really cannot say enough about this place. The eggplant rolletini appetizer is excellent as is the linguini with clam sauce. Service is superb but not overbearing. I did not have dessert but several people in my party did; all give the thumbs up.

We write as folks who live in Manhattan, and spend several months of the year in Italy. We are often disappointed in Italian food in NY restaurants; it doesn't taste authentic. This restaurant is owned and run by a man from Venice. I wish all the restaurants in expensive Venice were this satisfying! We have come over the years, and have brought several sets of friends here at least 4 times. No complaints from anyone, only high praise. The Cicchetti plates are a great bargain (small plates of various Venetian specialties). The wine we had was excellent. We like going at lunchtime, when the restaurant is not crowded, and we can enjoy each others' conversation. This would be a great place to eat when browsing the Chelsea art galleries.

Le Zie means "The aunts", and it still bears a familiar atmosphere. Good foos, simple place, honest genuine Italian dishes. Try the pasta.

In the heart of Chelsea you'll find Le Zie. The name means the "Aunts" and is a nod to where many on the recipes originally came from. I have gone there nearly from their opening day and have found it to be one of the most consistent, well priced Italian in New York. The menu is the right size -- a nice selection but not overly complicated. Specials round out the assortment. Pastas are the star here and among the best are the pici pasta, linguine bolognese, spaghetti and meatballs, spaghetti patarga and seasonal risotto with truffles. The main room can be noisy so for a quieter experience, ask for the back room.

My husband and I just recently visited this restaurant based on reviews from this website. We loved the food we ordered and the service was great. The only thing I was not expecting was the price on the house wines, was too expensive, other than that I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Our daughter is attending FIT in NYC and we wanted to find a good restaurant not too far from campus! Le Zie delivers !! The food and service are terrific, and the prices are amazing for Manhattan. The ambience is understated but lovely. They have a front area, back room and upstairs private dining. We enjoyed scallop risotto, lasagna bolognese, and spinach/ricotta ravioli. The goat chesse appetizer was superb. If you enjoy great dining at reasonable prices you will love Le Zie. If you want something opulent and over priced, this is not for you!

We went to Le Zie based on a recommendation from friends - and we had a wonderful experience. Courteous and knowledgeable service, good food, a nice atmosphere - what else can you ask for! We will without hesitation recommend this restaurant to anybody.

My husband and I have loved this place for years. We celebrated our 30 th anniversary here with friends. Elegant yet relaxing; old world service and an imaginative menu that is always grounded in classic Venetian cuisine. Recent meal: Superb red wine matched with a perfectly cooked duck breast. Caesar salad and fried artichokes. Perfect espresso. No room for dessert but they gave us a plate of tasty biscotti and chocolate treats.

Momentarily, I will be enjoying my forth meal since recently discovering the excellence of Le Zie! Here I will experience delightfully simple, yet incredibly delicious Italian Cuisine. Previously I enjoyed the Tri Colored Salad, the Spanish Octopus and for brunch yesterday, it was the Lobster Benedict! But tonight, the Veal Shank. So many great things to say about this treasure of a restaurant, but my dinner awaits. Oh, the Panna Cotta is a definite must!

A friend and I were hungry and walking when we spotted this place and decided to give it a try. It was a very enjoyable dinner. While the menu doesn't have a huge selection I was able to find a couple of items on the menu that stood out. I decided to try a crostini with sauce and goat cheese.. It was incredibly tasty and delicious. I also got the eggplant rollantini which was also good. My friend had the chicken piccata and raved about it. Service was also good, very attentive staff but not overly attentive.

My compliments to the chef and to the chief of waiters. We were a group of 30 people. They kept great care of us, with great timing. The event was a complete success. Everyone left rejuvenated. Ingredients were top notch. AMAZING wine list - I dare any restaurant in town matching it. You go from 50 to 800USD of Barolos and Amarones. This is a Trattoria, not the high street restaurant. You get first class truly Italian food in a friendly ambiance with great service. 2nd time here, it won't be the last.

Our Day Trip group of retired women visited the Rubin Museum and chose to have lunch together at Le Zie. The wait staff made a large square of tables for 12 diners, so that we might chat with everyone during lunch. They know their women! Lunch was very reasonable, certainly very filling and served with a smile, no matter what the request. Everything from the Italian Frittata to the Le Zie Burger(w/Caramelized Onions, Fontina, Truffle Aioli, Arugula w/Italian Fries was delicious. Outstanding was the tuna ravioli and the Eggs Benedict. .The Chicken Paillard and the Tuna Nicoise Salad were also terrific. We were encouraged to relax, have another cup of coffee and take our time. It was a wonderful lunch experience!

Always a great visit to Le Zie. Claudio - the proprietor - greets us warmly and, with his staff, always ensures we get a space in the back room of the restaurant - which is a little quieter than the front. Cozy, warm, and engaging environment. People clearly are enjoying the food, the atmosphere, and the company. While you may sit a little close to other diners (where in NYC don't you?), it is an enjoyable vibe. Across our group of 4 (most recently), we enjoyed several of the specials - a seafood entree (cod) and a special summer salad, plus the perennial favorite tuna tartare. Main courses from the regular menu that hit the spot: salt-encrusted branzino, the salmon, and the Mac & Cheese. I enjoy the TriColor salad on most visits - a very filling salad with wonderfully crisp, flavorful bacon on top. A plate of iced biscotti closed out a very nice evening at Le Zie. Enjoy.

Went there with my son and grandson. He had excellent clams with linguine; I just had Venetian bean soup. Plus burger and fries for the kid, and one (very good) carpaccio starter between us One bottle of Vermentino - excellent. Glad I wasn't paying, but very good food and charming service.

I've been going here for the past four years when I am looking for someplace reasonably priced and good. Th decor is nice and you can usually hear your guests talk, something not always possible in NYC restaurants. The welcome is always warm and service, very good. They specialize in Venetian cuisine and the cicchetti assortment is always a good way to start, especially if you are hungary. They have lots of specials each night and the branzino baked in salt is especially good. But sometimes I just want spaghetti and meatballs and this is the place for that! The wine list is excellent and their bar is a nice place to meet before dinner.

We stopped staying in Midtown years ago, opting instead for the neighborhood feel of Chelsea and its markets and restaurants. That's how we discovered Le Zie a dozen years ago and we've returned every time we come to NYC for a visit. We sample new eateries all the time, but this one sill stands out. This year we noticed a new look that opened the space up and made it even more inviting. Our dinners were excellent as was the desert. Our cappucinos were tepid but were replaced quickly. The owner and manager are always moving about the space making sure that everything is to the customers liking. The Branzino baked in salt is to the best I've eve had. There's nothing like Le Zie in the Detroit area.

So said one of three older women (one in head-to-toe leopard) who had finished dinner and were heading out past the bar where I was sitting, reading and eating alone. Her two companions turned to gawk at me. Now, despite that, Le Zie is exactly the kind of place where a woman can sit at the bar, read and eat alone, feeling comfortable and divine. The staff and managers couldn't do enough to make me feel more comfortable, including bringing a candle over to give me a bit more light. Dinner was simple dish of gluten-free penne with meatballs, served piping hot with a well-prepared red sauce; not too sweet, dark and rich. The meatballs were tender and delicious and it all went very well with a smooth and savory glass of Chianti, rich with coarsen tannin and perfectly able to cut through the meatballs and tomato sauce. The back room, where the bar was, was packed with diners, including a table of eight and a table of four with a woman whose laugh continually pierced the room. What did H.L Mencken say? " How little it takes to make life unbearable: a pebble in the shoe, a cockroach in the spaghetti, a woman's laugh." Happily, a good book and a good glass of Chianti can temper a lot of things. Le Zie is charming.

Food was good but very overpriced. Waitress was not friendly just doing her job. We had a large group. Drinks were also expensive $11 for fries. Come on this is New York but don’t gouge tourists! Would not go back For this reason!

Le Zie delivers again and again. Never fails. We had a summer dinner the other night--- 5 of us -- all were in heaven. I had the tortelli with spinach and goat cheese. A bottle of their Sancerre was delicious. The tiramisu is perfection. Outdoor seating available. It is quiet inside. Good, friendly service.

indifferent service, marginal presentation, appetizers lacking in substance, and an overall disappointment. A special was soft shell crab....there was more sauce than crab. nothing to suggest a visit would be of value....there are better choices up and down seventh ave. and the surrounding neighborhood.

A recommendation from our hotel concierge led us here. Waitress was lovely but the food was great. During our stay we visited some greatly over priced and uninspiring places but the food was reasonably priced and was lovely. I had the lasagne which was awesome I would totally recommend. Lovely place and a highlight of the holiday

Specials that change daily and are special. Regular menu of consistent Italian dishes. Lasagna is a standout. I have been over 20 times for lunch and dinner. The staff are friendly and worry about you if you have allergies. My friend has an unfortunate allergy to garlic but the kitchen can work around it. A good selection of mostly Italian wines. The kind of restaurant that makes a NY neighborhood special. 4 blocks from home.

Not fancy, just good food served in a very friendly unpretentious manner. Christine was our Server mid week and service was excellent. I typically take my kids here on a Sunday and the quality is consistent. Pastas are great Linguini with Clams and Spaghetti /Meatballs are recommendable. Among appetizers, Shrimp cakes and octopus are lovely. I really like the wine list and they have nice Italian white selection well beyond just Pinot Grigio ! Christine selected a nice Chardonnay for us. Host and all staff super friendly. Fairly priced too. Good for lunch also.

We live in the sea and are regulars here and this neighborhood gem that is filed with locals. The food is authentic and very tasty. Out favorite appetizer is the Cicchetti, a large plate of Italian tapas. Recommended 2nd courses include their amazing lasagna, truffled Mac and cheese, slow cooked lamb shank, the salt crusted Bronzino and of course pay attention to the many specials which change daily. It's always a boisterous happy crowd. They don't take reservations but magically you will never have to wait for a table even when they're very busy. I can't explain it but it's true!

I've dined at LeZie 25+ times over the last four years and have found the food to be consistently good and reasonably priced. My favorites are the horseradish crusted salmon and the chicken piccata. The front room is generally somewhat noisy. So, if there is an available table in the back, take it if your prefer lower decibels with your meal.

The food is very ordinary and rather badly cooked, the welcome is not at all pleasant and the prices are excessive. We certainly won't be going back!

I held my husband's birthday party for 25 family members last month at Le Zie. Everything from the lovely room, the delicious food and the gracious and helpful staff was excellent. It made a momentous occasion very easy to plan and carry out. I would recommend it to anyone considering a small party.

I will return as soon as possible. It was a comfortable ambiance. Too many restaurants in Manhattan are slick and too modern.

Attractive front room with white table cloths and linen napkins. Good ratio of wait staff to customers. Waiters know the dishes and can explain ingredients and preparation. Extensive wine list with a glass priced from $10.00 up. Pear salad at $11.00 was delicious. Greens were in manageable bite size pieces and lots of pears and cheese. Veal Parmigiana at $29.00 was very good topped with their own blend of 3 cheeses. Smoked trout appetizer was a disappointment. It tasted very good but it was a large, crusty piece of bread with the trout smeared on the top. Difficult to cut into bite size pieces and was more bread than trout at $16.00. Dessert favorite was strawberries with whipped cream. Lots of calories but lots of great taste. Restaurant does not take reservations for small parties but early on a weekday this was not a problem.

I have to be honest when I say that I have not visited this restaurant in about a year, but the 7 years I have been going before that have all been excellent. Love the spaghetti and meatballs!!!

Le Zie never disappoints. The menu is authentic and you can always count on several interesting specials. There's a great wine list and a small bar on the side street, which is part of the restaurant. The food is prepared with care and the servers are knowledgeable and attentive.
Pricey, but comfy
We have eaten here many times. The food is delicious. Very comfortable white tablecloth restaurant! Extra quiet! Great service!
