this restaurant has it all. Vibe, staff, service and the food is absolutely great. Not even marginally better. Really phenomenal! The service was as exceptional as the food. Plenty of good attitude and it matches every element of the great food and drinks. Great wine list as well and mixed drinks are great. This place gets an A+ from me. The restaurant is elegant and exceptional overall, without being stuffy and uncomfortable. Great for couples, friends, business...

The servers were very accomodating, the food was quite goos, but choices should be enlarged. Was a pleasant surprise service was included!

Horrible location near the industrial hell hole that is Hudson years. Overpriced food ($60 for garbage risotto) and rude staff. I have severe gluten allergy and the bartender told me vodka has no gluten. Just the close the place now.

This place is a good addition to the nyc food scene, done by the same people as Charlie bird and Pasquale jones. Beautifully decorated interior w dim lighting. Went here with some friends and between the 4 of us, we shared everything. Started off with the crudo; good but very very small portions for 4 people and not enough fish to share, We proceeded with the octopus, risotto, and duck with a side of squash. The octopus (the right amount of charred on top of a purée ) was delicious but a small portion (even for 2 people). The entrees of risotto and duck were appropriately porportioned . I have to say that the duck was one if the best ducks and best dishes I have ever eaten. It had the right amount of salt, was cooked to perfection. I wish I had it all to myself. I would come back for the duck alone. We didn’t try any of the cocktails but stuck with a bottle of wine. They have a pretty good selection of wine, even though it’s marketed up like usual. The deserts were good but nothing to rave about. We could’ve have done without. The service was good and fast! Overall good dining experience. We will definitely be back.

Legacy records is a great addition to the NYC dining scene. The energy and atmosphere are dynamite, and the food and drink are superb. We sampled almost the entire menu and loved every item. I recommend, but bring your expense account!

I was hosting for a business function and I chose Legacy Records as a quintessential NYC spot which offers unique atmospheres and excellent food. We booked the test kitchen which allows you to observe and even stand in the kitchen while preparations are taking place. The skill level of the chefs here are incredible! In terms of price, even for NYC this place is very expensive, so be warned prior to arriving that the bill will likely be more than you are thinking. In my opinion, for the experience it was mostly worth the high price.

We were looking for a brunch place before visiting the new Hudson Yards and we didn't want to eat inside the complex, so we tried Legacy Records. What a great find! It was low-key, relaxing, great vibe, beautiful interior, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly. We arrived early but were seated promptly and given a nice booth. Everyone from the hosts to the servers, bussers, and manager made sure we were having a good time and getting everything we needed. The music was mellow but lively Motown -- Donny Hathaway, Temptations -- which just made the food taste even better. An awesome new addition to the neigborhood!

My wife and I had dinner at Legacy last night. The service was impeccable, from the waiter to the sommelier and even the bussers. They did their jobs with class and accuracy. The food was quite good, delicate flavors all well combined. The only ‘negative’ I’d have is that it was pricey. Food was at fine dining New York levels - to be expected, but the wine was quite expensive. I’m sure some of their premium wines (a 2000 Bordeaux or Barolo) were not as inflated, but the better than decent house Chianti was about 3.5 times retail. So go, enjoy, but expect to pay accordingly.

Only dine at this restaurant unless you know that there is absolutely no chance that you will have to cancel under any circumstance. They will charge you $30 per person for any cancellation after 12pm the day before. I have to pay $90 to a restaurant that will have no problem making up this reservation as they are full every night. Additionally, there is no phone number available giving you no chance to reason with anyone in person. Extremely disappointing customer experience.

We were a group of 6 including a tween and would consider ourselves foodies. I am typically unimpressed with many of the high end NYC restaurants I have frequented. Overpriced, average food and pretentious. Legacy Records is very different. The food, service and ambience were excellent. We had the duck, branzino, ribeye steak, agnolotti, crudo tasting, and cavatelli plus a couple of bottles of wine, veg sides and desert. I would recommend and will return

Very cool 80s vibe, loud but not obtrusive Marvin Gaye and soul soundtrack, very busy even at 6.30pm. So, first to say is it’s not cheap. The much hyped crudo (four different fish) was beautifully presented but frankly underwhelming especially at $26 per head. On the other hand, the honey lacquered roast duck with satsuma ($41) was truly outstanding. Superb, in fact. Wines by the glass were good quality and - small detail- served in beautiful glasses. All in all we enjoyed it - if you can afford it, go.

I was in a tradeshow at the Javitts Convention Center and this fantastic restaurant is just few blocks from there. I went there after the show for dinner and the ambience , service and the food were incredible!!!

My spouse and I visited Legacy Records for brunch on a Sunday in mid-February 2020. Legacy Records is open daily for dinner and for brunch on the weekends. Guests can book a table using the online RESY reservation system. Legacy Records opened in March 2018 on West 38th Street near 10th Avenue in the Midtown South/Hell’s Kitchen/Hudson Yards neighborhood near the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. It occupies the street level of the Henry Hall Apartments. The Delicious Hospitality Group owns Legacy Records and also operates neighbors Parcelle, Ada’s Place, and Easy Victor Café (in the same building), as well as Charlie Bird in SoHo and Pasquale Jones in NoLita. The L-shaped restaurant space offers a lounge/bar area upon entry as well as a coffee corner. The main dining room occupies the rear of the space, with stand-alone tables in various sizes and configurations, a few booths, and some more private tables that share two banquettes in two sort of recessed pockets in the dining room. Large windows open onto a narrow strip of outdoor space. High ceilings, cloth wallcoverings, leather tabletops, metallic finishes, and pops of green color complete the décor. The restaurant’s name comes from a recording studio that once stood on the same site, and accompanying music reminds diners of that fact. We shared two appetizers: the beet salad (red and golden beets and something else incredibly tasty that we could not quite place, perhaps a Japanese yam?) and the duck sausage (two homemade patties nicely grilled and topped with a piece of crispy sage [this item is listed as a side dish on the menu]). We loved that the beet salad contained mostly beets, whereas so many other restaurants use mostly greens with just a few small slices of beets. As our main dishes, we ordered the tonarelli cacio y pepe (pasta with a pecorino and peppercorn sauce; this dish was a bit undersized) and the fried chicken (which is listed on the menu as a side dish, albeit a very hearty and entrée-priced side dish; alternatively, you can order the fried chicken as a sandwich). Disappointingly, the only dessert offered was three flavors of ice cream (we passed). The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We enjoyed our brunch at Legacy Records; the food, service, and atmosphere made for a pleasant experience.

My wife and I went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary this weekend with food being the top priority - we were not disappointed. The Ravilo Doppio alone is worth the trip, this is one of the best pastas I've ever had. The wood roasted octopus was also incredible and normally we would skip desserts but because of our anniversary, we indulged and I am so glad we did, so make sure you do the same. Legacy Records is a hard reservation to get but worth the effort and somewhere we will absolutely be going back to in the near future.

First time here. Place does not look like much from the street. Cool bar when you come in with an awesome bar tender and some great cocktails. We were seated at a wonderful U shaped booth for dinner. Service was OK to good. We ordered food and it took about 30 min for the bread to come out. The octopus was some of the best in NYC, seriously. The foie gras starter was interesting and good. The pastas were good, the suckling pig one stood out. The Wagyu main was excellent and the duck main was off the charts good. Some of the best duck I've ever had. The sommelier was good and picked out a few good bottles for us in our price range. Overall I didn't love the service (but it was fine) but the ambiance and food would bring me back!

This is the second time we went to Legacy records and loved it. Everything was sooo soo delicious. The presentation of each dish was beautiful and artful and the execution was wonderful. We started with the Montauk oysters with jalapeños totally delish and the scallop crudo. Next the foie gras (divine) and the duck for two - which I feel is there "stand out" dish. The only tiny tiny nit was that the red wine was too cold, but otherwise everything else was utter perfection! If you are bargain hunting be aware it is pricey, but I felt it was worth it!

Group of 20 enjoyed the private dining upstairs at Legacy Records. Destination added to what we were doing - welcome on arrival set the tone for our night and service was some of the best we had in New York over a week of night life. Food was really delicious off a fixed choice menu - the mushroom and borlotti bean ravioli was so good we all talked about for days afterwards. Sitting in what was the board room of a New York record company you couldn’t help but think about the stories the space could tell. We really enjoyed this place.

My new favorite place in New York City. Great atmosphere and service. Enjoyed the crudo tasting, great bread, pasta, rib eye steak and duck over polenta special. Everything was perfect. It's not a pretentious or stuffy place.

Legacy Records is beautifully designed in a relatively intimate space. It’s Instagram paradise. Nice variety of cocktails. The Lee’s Knees is really good and fresh. The menus are varied (and unique in design!) with an assortment of crudo, small plates and entrees - pasta and meat. We ordered the crudo for 5, which was really good and beautifully displayed. Entrees are on the smaller side. The torchio was one of the bigger plates in our group. It was really good. Dessert is also great. We actually got one of everything and the standouts were the apricot crisp and cherry dessert. Service was really good. Prompt and polite.

This was an anniversary surprise dinner to a fun place which had been written about well and got good reviews. We were seated almost immediately even though we went early and that was good. The server was prompt and great energy. I thought “this isn’t bad.. I could like this place” then the food arrived. Do not have the Mozzarella in appetizers .. it was chewy and hard. The roasted cauliflower didn’t fare better. No flavor and too crunchy for my taste. Finally ordered the “special” pasta which was made with sage, butter and shaved truffle on top. I had to ask for black pepper since the taste of the sage or the butter didn’t come through. The truffle wasn’t fresh and didn’t add to the taste. Probably the dark chocolate gelato for dessert was the only nice thing on the menu that we had. The bill at the end def outbalanced the flavor and vibe. One time visit for me.

Beautiful, elegantly designed restaurant with excellent and friendly service. Very enjoyable evening with friends! My vote for outstanding dishes have to be. 1. The honey lacquered Duck for 2, pickled cherry, pistachio! Mind Blown! 2. Casoncelli, sweet corn, charred onion, morels, parmigiano. Perfection!

Business dinner. Service was as you would expect. Food was very good, very flavourful. Slightly strange approach to the menu with lots of the dishes being described as small when ordering.

The Charlie Bird Team restaurants are popular with the celebrities for good reason. They have spared no expense to create a new dining experience that is upscale, yet not uptight. From the warm welcome and unique and spacious decor to the tasteful music and delicate French wine glasses, we savored every moment we spent here. Of course, the food and spirits were amazing. One visit will make you a regular!

This was an exceptional experience. A tasteful room, attentive and relaxed staff and food that was clever without being too fashion conscious. Grilled octopus with harissa, Oysters with jalapeno, the most amazing, perfectly cooked glazed duck with rhubarb and hazelnuts (if you were going to be picky more rhubarb would have been great), puffed rice and chocolate mousse was relatively simple but a perfect finish. Wonderful wines and cocktails. It was expensive but worth the money. In all, we loved it and will make it an NY regular.

Went to Legacy Records for dinner with my partner. Upon arrival we were immediately seated and server quickly came and offered water and drinks. Space was buzzy and very noisy. Loud music playing. Shortly after receiving a cocktail the guy who seated us asked if we’d like to move to a different table as he explained ‘that a large noisy group’ would be seated next to us. We agreed. Turned out they really just wanted to combine our table with the one next to it to seat a party of four. Be honest next time. We started with octopus and fluke crudo and both were good. Then both had the $48 rib eye which was immensely disappointing. 3 small slices, probably not more than 4 ounces. Obviously cooked sous vide, under seasoned and pretty tasteless. Was expecting a lot more for $48! Wine list is somewhat ridiculous. Very large list but very little under $200. Service was however very good, although we were never once asked how our food was. Would not go back.

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. I came for a business dinner and had high expectations. The staff more than met my expectations, but the ambiance and the food didn't quite live up to what I had built up based on the reviews. It is a cute place, but with a name like "Legacy Records" I expected more uniqueness or flair. The food ranged from delightful (the hamachi) to just okay (the black bass). I wouldn't take it off the list for a 2nd visit the next time I'm in NYC, but it's not at the top of the list.

It’s a good walk .. about 15 mins after a show but easy to find . Very cool menu .. we shared plates .. oysters were good .. $5 each .. but tip included. Quail amazing and the best The Duck .. do it order the duck .. it was really special. Cool atmosphere and good service .. remember this is a non tipping restaurant 👏👏👏

Ex recording studio turned restaurant. Went with large group of 6 pax. Appetizer portions can be small, and not great for sharing. Nothing stood out. Pastas were excellent. Mains course highlight was the duck. Beef was avg. Wine list deep but very overpriced. Service very good.

Visited with 2 friends and we sampled a number of dishes. The best, by far, was the duck breast (although a couple bites seemed too salty). Next was the agnolotti pasta, which we all enjoyed. We had a veg dish that had beans and greens, with tiny tomatoes, that was also pretty good. A special dish was a seasonal squash dish that we also liked, as well as the sprouted bread dish. The most disappointing was the branzino - slightly overcooked, way too salty, and riddled with small bones. At a fancy place like this, you shouldn't expect to be picking bones out of your mouth. We didn't have dessert. Service was really efficient and friendly, although it was clear they wanted us to leave when we were done. No hanging around for conversation. With one drink each, our bill was $320. One final note: all food and drink prices include service so no tipping.

I like my country and feel that I need to support it as much as possible. I like legacies like music, and catalogs and all that good jazz. I am New Yorker and have been since 0 years old. I am a writer and my pen name is Victoria Abby. I studied English Literature. I worked in music A&R!!! with my partner Simon Cowell. Thank you for letting me opload all my life. It is great to write here and tell you about me. New York is brighter because we are all happy people in New York.

Our group of eight thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Legacy Records. We started in the bar area with some pre-dinner cocktails. There are many great options including a number of daily specials - the Manzanita was a standout. For dinner, we ate family style sharing appetizers and mains. The best starters were the crudo, bread basket and scallops. The cavatelli pasta was outstanding (with sausage, pecorino and mint) as was the ribeye (very tender and tasty). Service was decent and the room modern, comfortable but quite loud. Prices are high but then this is NYC.

Waiter messed up multiple times. Food was good, not great, but portions were a rip off. Had a great bottle of wine which gave our friends and us some sense of positivity for this place. The fact that it was a Saturday night and the place wasn’t busy should say it all. So many places to eat in NYC. Don’t make this one of them.

Finally, there's a cool, relaxed and sophisticated place to eat at the theatre district / Hell's kitchen. The place is like a Soho brasserie that landed at the edge of this area. An area that is known for its noisy, bustling and usually cheezy eateries (with a few exceptions). The dining hall is slick, the staff is quite and efficient and the food moves between contemporary American takeoffs on Italian cuisine to worldwide fashionable influences. The pastas are amazing!!! and the fish was good too but the size of the dishes moves between very small to small. So it's great for a pre theatre noosh or for drinks and side dishes, but if you are really hungry - you'll have to order more.

We had drinks upstairs in the bar and dinner in the restaurant and everyone in our party enjoyed themselves because it felt like a single continuous delightful evening. Matthew S, our dinner advisor (waiter) was a delight. Friendly, hospitable and interested in our enjoying our evening. The food was delicious - none of us left hungry and all of us said we'd love to go back. A definite recommendation.
Hudson Tracks
This restaurant referred to as the first to open in "Hudson Yards" is on the outermost edges literally along the dirty and very sketchy entrance to the lower deserted tracks along with a few strip clubs and some dirty auto mechanic shops. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully designed with the lighting being the highlight. They have done a masterful job of including design noise reducing elements. Unfortunately we were greeted at the the entrance by 2 hostesses dressed like they were hunkering down for a night of Netflix binge watching who openly disagreed about the tabletop put us at. Once delivered to the table I could see why it was 2 seats next to each other facinga wall about 1 foot away. This is a table that should be reserved for those conducting illicit affairs who do not want to risk being seeing. After much ado we were finally reseated at a table that was actually part of the restaurant. The wine list is extremely overpriced in comparison to other NY hot spots. Although the food was acceptable, there was a very small menu which we initially thought was the specials listing. If you are ok with a crudo starter, paying for your bread as a "small plate" and having Braznzino - very bony and delivered in an extremely unattractive way - duck, chicken or ribeye with no accouterments as your only options than perhaps you will be less disappointed in this restaurant than I. It has received a lot of hype, but I predict in short time they will be begging for the reservations they now require a CC with strict cancellation policies to get.
