Delicious gluten free chinese

By Jessf1223 |

My family of 5 went to Lilli and Loos since I can have gluten free Chinese food which is haven’t had since being diagnosed celiac 5 years ago. I had the general Tso’s chicken and it did not disappoint. My son also had regular general tso chicken and loved it. They made Szechuan chicken for husband and he enjoyed it. My daughter had sushi which she really liked. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We would definitely eat here next time we’re in NYC. Highly recommend!

Don't get the Pad Thai with tofu

By R C |

I was looking for a Thai restaurant in the area and settled on Lilli. I am reminded why I don't like pan-Asian and fusion restaurants. I received a large bowl of noodles and a crazy amount of tofu. But no bean sprouts or scallions. It was explained to me that with tofu you don't get vegetables. Sheesh. So they don't understand what Pad Thai is. Atmosphere and service are very good. Price is reasonable, especially for the location.

Excellent Chinese food with lots of GF options

By s209travel |

We picked this restaurant for dinner specifically because it accommodates gluten free diners. When a local friend gave it two thumbs up, we knew we'd made the right choice. And after we tried the spring roll appetizer, it was cemented. My kids -- who have celiac -- have never had a spring roll, or even crispy sesame chicken. We loved everything. Even my son, who doesn't like Asian food, ate his food! We wish we had a Lilli & Loo in our hometown!

Good Asian food, reasonable prices, celiac friendly

By Davidqwerty |

Four couples met for dinner. Impressed with tasty food, friendly service, relaxed armosphere. And (rare for a mostly Chinese restaurant), they cater quite well to a diner with celiac disease--top rate gluten-free options without compromising quality.

Great food with vegetarian options

By RP_traveller_2013 |

I've eaten at Lilli and Loo for lunch and dinner a few times now. The food is very good and prices are quite reasonable for NYC. They have a lunch special for $14.95 which includes a soup or salad, appetizer, entrée, and rice / noodles. I really enjoyed the Kung Pao tofu with stir fried noodles and their Vegetarian Mee Goreng with tofu is excellent. The food is a bit oily but tastes great! The service is often slow, even when the restaurant is not busy - although the food comes promptly, it takes a while for the waiter to initially take your order, or fill your water, or to get the bill at the end. Having said that, the food is delicious and well priced and it is conveniently located between the 59th and 63rd St subway stations on Lexington.

Date night

By Stacy M |

My husband and I like to go here on date night The food is good It is reasonable priced Depends on the waiter on how good the service is

Excellent gluten free options

By canada514 |

One of the ladies we were traveling with is allergic to gluten. This place had a gluten free menu and the food was delicious. Hostess was very knowledgable and helpful as well.

Gfree meal

By Leanne H |

Having such an entire menu to choose from was a novelty as a coeliac. I went with the spring rolls to start with which were delicious and the sizzling chicken. The latter was a little underwhelming and defo not sizzling. An average meal would probably not return

Great Gluten Free Option!

By Bose2 |

This is a must for Celiac people, it has a wide selection of gluten free dishes. Chinese food is rarely gluten free, so this is a treat indeed. The General Tso Chicken is very good and portions are large, you can have your dishes with or without gluten so everyone will be happy in your party. I've been to NYC a couple of times and always get my gluten free chinese food fix here. Prices are not that high for Manhattan, but this is no fancy restaurant by any means, so it's priced right. The only thing lackluster is the service, it's rather cold and hurried, I will return for the food, not the service!

Pleasant lunch

By PSGumby |

This restaurant is perfect if you are shopping near Bloomingdale's or anywhere on the east side in the low 60s. The food is quite good, the ambience is Pleasant and the service is fast. It's name is strange, but the food is Asian fusion - with a little bit of Chinese, a little Thai and some Japanese and sushi. I have eaten there many times and never had anything I didn't like. And on top of all this, the prices are very reasonable.

Really good food

By Chris R |

Stopped here for a quick lunch - craving Asian food. The food was great! If you go, make sure to try the Beef Lo Mein.

Finally...Tempura for Celiacs!

By natalie r |

Great Sushi/Asian food option for Celiacs and GF folks. They are also very serious about cross-contamination thankfully. This is the only place in NYC I have found to comfortably eat dumplings and tempura safely as a Celiac and it's certainly a treat. The chef specialty rolls and Thai-food offerings are delicious as well. Go for the Dragon Roll with the purple basil. Also the $6 beer/wine/cocktail happy hour is weekdays before 7pm!

Gluten Free meal in NYC

By SuzeHJ |

Have eaten here during each visit to NYC - specifically ate here due to their gluten free menu. Food was great, never had a problem. Gluten free beer is also available which is a real treat!

Dinner

By Stacy M |

We eat here almost every week We love the food and the service It is clean and the service can be slow depending on the waiter or waitress but it has nice atmosphere

Fresh, tasty food, low fat and gluten free options and big portions

By Neil R |

I visited for the 2nd time in 18 months today and again found the food to be delicious and fresh and with a great range of pan-Asian flavours and dishes. Big portions makes Lilli and Loo great value. Service is efficient and helpful and the restaurant is bright and modern. I will be back again.

GF menu up!!

By Nora Martí |

Many options for gluten free "diet", it was my first restaurant of my NYC trip, and probably one of the best (due to the gluten free / budget), it is really good, plenty of choice, good tasty food, close to Central Park... Will come back, for sure.

great great

By stephen l |

Lilli and loo is a great sushi noodle place right on 792 lexington ave... cannot recommend it enough...

Love this place

By MES113 |

have been here for business lunch, personal dinner and by myself. The quality and price of the food is great. Good service as well.

Refreshing

By 2griff |

Really like this very personal spot. They coffees tea and snacks. The chai tea is great, a few juices, coffee to take home as well. Charming and yummy!!

Worth the visit.

By TravelR |

Worth the visit. The food and service is very good. It has a nice vibe with people from different tables all chatting to eachother. It felt very homely.

very good choice for vegetarians

By namanniy |

scallion pancakes, and loads of tofu and vegetable dishes to choose from, papaya salad and other popular choices, the best thing was not the slightest hint of fish or seafood, very vegetarian friendly. loved it

Go here, get short-changed

By MicheleWGF |

I picked up a take-out order today and Lili's short-changed me. After I gave her a $20, the phone rang and another customer came in after she took my money and before she gave me my change and when I asked her again for my change she said she'd given it to me. I showed her my wallet which clearly did not have the $12 they owed me. I asked them if they really wanted to lose a customer over $12 and they still refused to give me my change. This is a BAD way to run a business and they have lost mine -as someone with celiac disease who has few other Chinese food options.

Nirvana; Gluten free, yummy Chinese Food!!

By Bethand3girls |

At both its locations, Lilli and Loo makes (for in restaurant, pick up or delivery) safely gluten free Chinese food... including pork dumplings and dishes like sesame chicken! The GF food is so good, you "can't tell" it's gluten free... I order the non-gluten free dumplings spicy so we don't mix them up. My kids with celiac disease are so happy to have Chinese food other than what I make.

Well prepared food and nice ambiance

By Silasroy |

Came here to meet a friend for lunch. Varied menu with good vegetarian and vegan options. Pleasant service. Nice decor. Has additional seating on second level. Noise level pretty good. You can have a conversation.

A pleasant surprise on the UES

By LazyPoint |

Excellent place on Lexington...stones throw from Bloomingdale's. Had the sushi..very nice ($23) Also had a cocktail for $6 (before 7PM). And please ignore some of the reviews. The prices are reasonable and perhaps they don't have enough gluten free items. Drink a gluten free beer and stop whining. Enjoy.

Great Chinese food

By 213Traveller87 |

A whole menu of gluten free options was the biggest plus for me for this restaurant. We had been recommended this by the staff at PIPs bakery (another must visit if you have a gluten allergy!) and they were not wrong - a great selection of food, the portion sizes were massive (I got so excited at tall the gluten free options I think we took more home with us than we ate there!) and most of all it tasted great!

HORRIBLE

By Alr26 |

Absolutely terrible experience. After 2 hours of waiting for delivery, yes 2 HOURS the delivery man calls and says he’s in the lobby. I do not see him in the lobby so I call back and he completely ignores me. I call back again and he just keeps saying hello? Hello? I then hang up and after waiting 5 minutes in the lobby I call again and he says he is 30 BLOCKS away from my house. He went to the completely wrong address, not even anything close which makes 0 sense to me. This is insane, 2 and a half hours waiting for over priced food that is cold when it arrives. Never again.

Great for gluten free and everyone else

By faz |

Extensive gluten free menu. Amazing food. Staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. Finding gluten free Chinese food is one thing but when it’s also delicious you know it’s a great day. Go to Lilli and Loo. You will love it

NOT GLUTEN FREE

By Matt |

We saw this restaurant had a gluten free menu and therefore really keen to have a meal there. My girlfriend has coeliac so obviously it’s important that the food is completely clear of any gluten related foods. We did notice on one review that someone else had had an issue but due to other reviews thought it was a one off. What happens next is my girlfriend has the worst reaction she’s had in years and ruined the whole holiday. We were assured it was completely clear of cross contamination “200% sure” the lady said. They were also very rude but that’s another issue. Bottom line is, food was okay enough to eat but if you’re going there due to the gluten free — stay clear. Don’t make our mistake.

Awesome and delicious

By Eve C |

A friend suggested this restaurant. We started with the steamed pork dumplings. For the entree, we ordered the bento box special and the Pad Thai. Food was fresh and tasty. Very delicate in taste. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Very Good Value

By Unclepips |

We visited this restaurant on a cold and wet day after visiting Central Park. Having looked on the tripadvisor app for a restaurant that served Gluten Free food we found this was only a few blocks away. The food was excellent and gave us the opportunity to dry off and get warm. We are visiting New York again for Thanksgiving and will definitely be re-visiting this restaurant.

Don't believe the online posted menu

By MiniRoadWarrior |

We came here because we looked at the menu that was posted on TripAdviser and found bento boxes at reasonable prices. When we came here, you can imagine my disappointment that for the most part, the online menu bares only glancing similarities to the actual menu. And when we entered the restaurant, M-F lunch specials were posted, but those were not available today because of the Labor day holiday. The food was good, but the waiter was slow to fill our water. I think my experience was colored by the incorrect advertising, and I don't know how much input the restaurant has with TripAdvisor.

Very nice experience.

By lakethoreaubreezes |

Fresh and tasty. Service was pleasant, made for a nice business lunch experience. Though some nicer chopsticks would've added a classy touch.

Great Chinese food - but avoid the lunch sushi specials

By Leo M |

Lilli and Loo serves very good Chinese food and sushi ranging from acceptable to good. But really the best features of the restaurant are the location, the drinks, and (for a restaurant next to Bloomingdale's) the prices. This visit I was in the neighborhood around lunchtime and in the mood for sushi. Unfortunately, the Sushi and Sashimi lunch combo was definitely NOT up to their usual standards. Will I eat at Lilli and Loo's again...absolutely. But if it is lunchtime I will order one of the Asian lunch specials - NOT the sushi.

Outstanding Asian Food

By Harry B |

I'm typically only in New York City once a year or two, so before spending the day there with my adult children, I spent some time looking for a good Asian restaurant near the area we were visiting. I was a little hesitant, because most of the reviews on TripAdvisor centered around the gluten-free aspect, while this was not an issue for us. In short, every dish we tried was outstanding. We shared the Pom-Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box, Thai Basil Chicken, and Kalbi Beef. All very spicy, tangy, tasteful, and simply excellent. The service was great, and the atmosphere cozy and friendly. While there are hundreds of restaurants in NYC, I would consider coming back to this one again! It was that good.

Best Gluten Free Chinese food

By Eric H |

Had an amazing dinner here. My wife has to eat gluten free for medical purposes, and this restaurant has an extensive and dedicated gluten free menu. We both ordered off of it and everything was fantastic. GF steamed dumplings, Saichwan Beef, and Shrimp&Walnuts. Will definitely be going back again. The food was so good, I forgot to pause to take some pictures!!

A Gluten Free dreaming

By Richard F |

Amazing. Such a wide gluten free menu. Visiting from the UK it was well worth the short trip on the tube. The tables either side of us both ordered gluten free as well and I was salivating at just the thought of our food coming (I'm starting to again now just remembering it!). First time I'd ever had dumplings and I see what the fuss is about! The crispy sesame beef was delicious too. I'd love to go back right now. I wish there was somewhere in the UK that was as good as this. I hope New Yorkers know how good they've got it. Would highly recommended for locals and visitors (even if they're not coeliacs).

Not great

By LC |

Visited after searching for an Asian restaurant near Barneys and were disappointed with the food. Servings were huge but the taste just wasn't there for me.

Cheap Asian food

By sdee101 |

This was a comfortable place to eat. Not noisy and the tables were a reasonable distance apart. However it was chilly ad it was 32F outside so I don't understand why they didn't have the heating on- I sat in my winter coat for 30 minutes! The food my husband and I had was ordinary. Singapore noodles which didn't have nearly enough of he toppings- mainly a lot of noodles. By the way they were advertised as spicy but they were not spicy to our palate. The thin noodles were cooked well We also had steamed pork dumplings. The reasons I have rated it this highly is because others had the General Tso chicken and the beef with orange and both were delicious. Also it was very cheap. We will go back and try others things on the menu

Great food and service!!

By IslandzGirl |

We were frozen and hungry when we arrived and Tina did a great job of feeding us and thawing us out. They have a huge gluten free menu!! We enjoyed the gluten free spring rolls and pork dumplings. Hubby's General Tso's chicken was great and so was my house fried rice which is soy sauce free!!

Super Chinese Diner for GF Dishes

By Paul H |

We went here as they have a good gluten free menu and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant wasn't too busy and we were shown to a table straight away. The waitress brought over the menus and a gluten free one for my wife. The menu was comprehensive and we all chose something different. I had the sezchaun beef and it was delicious, my wife had the gluten free satay chicken followed by the sizzling beef, pork and prawns dish. She said it was great, really tasty. There was a good selection of beers and soft drinks. The sevice was good and the staff made us feel welcome. I would recommend eating here if you have a gluten free diet or just want a good Chinese meal. Good value aswell.

not very special

By Hans_10 |

We had dinner here once. We had a box dinner. The food was not very special, though not expensive. The service is reasonable.

So yummy!!!

By Hellyb123red |

Massive portions of wonderfully tasty food! Absolutely loved it! If I lived in NY I would definitely be a regular!

The gluten free menu!

By Tessa - Abroad With Allergies |

We stopped here for lunch and were ecstatic with the decision! From entering the door the service was spectacular. They were friendly, attentive, and the food came so quickly! The size of the gluten free menu was astonishing... Really amazing. I ate here with confidence and enjoyed every single bite! The prices are also incredibly reasonable. Highly recommend you try it out!

Sizzling Tofu and Quinoa Dishes

By Alberto H |

Been there a couple of times, but last week tried the above dishes and they caught my attention for different reasons: the generous portion of bean curd with veggies were amazingly tasty (I asked for spicy) with brown rice; the other time was the veggie quinoa dish, a beautiful plate that also included wild rice, avocado, cabbage, and a tangy brown sauce. As usual had my Thai Tea and Green Tea ice cream both excellent.

Great restaurant for Gluten free option

By Sean O |

We visited as a family of 4 for my girlfriends birthday. We needed a gluten free option and I found this restaurant on line. We were welcomed and treated very well on our arrival. There is a good choice of meals on both the gluten free and normal menus. We ordered starters, main and drinks. The food was lovely and the portions good. Total bill $110 which for NYC was good. Definitely worth a visit

Tasty asian cuisine, with a wide variety of gluten-free meals

By ronald-wiesbaden |

We ate at the Lilli and Loo for Dinner and were positively surprised. Our daughter is zoeliacic, so we are quite limited in selecting the right restaurant. the options of GF meals are numerous and they were delicious. We had the boneless ribs, the spring rolls and the tempura shrimps as a starter, all was very good. In hindsight two starters would have been enough for a party of three. Main course was sushi, grilled salmon and the pineapple curry. The sushi was extremely fresh, the salmon was very tasty and the curry was spicy, but not too hot. The staff was attentive and helpful. Overall, we would love to dine in again!

Gluten Free!!!

By Annissa U |

Finally I was able to eat a fried spring roll and General Tso's chicken without worry of cross contamination! I ordered delivery to the Cassa hotel and was delivered in about 20 minutes and all labeled gluten free. The fried dumplings, spring rolls (not available for delivery) and General Tso's chicken were my favorite and delicious! Knowledgable staff on properly preparing gluten free.

nice restaurant

By 1happykat |

After spending the day in the city, we were hoping to sit back and enjoy a great meal. The food was very good, but it took them a long time to get us seated even though there were open tables. Otherwise, it was tasty food and decently priced. The gluten free menu was very extensive which really helped us in our choices.

Shockingly bland!

By Anne C |

We came for dinner one night recently in search of some delicious comforting Asian food while staying in this area of the Upper East Side (it's on Lexington between 61st and 62nd Sts.). The two-story place looks modern and inviting, with a huge, beautiful bright red etched open wall delineating the kitchen. There are dark wood elements throughout with beige walls and white tablecloths. We were seated fairly quickly by the window. The staff were pleasant. However, things got disappointing after that. We ordered kung pao tofu and shrimp chow fun. When they first brought the food we had to send one dish back because they brought lo mein instead of chow fun. The kung pao tofu (supposed to be spicy) was flavorless and then, when the actual shrimp chow fun arrived it, too, was unbelievably tasteless. Truly, if my eyes were closed I wouldn't have known what I was eating. Hubby got a lychee pearl tapioca tea of some sort and I forgot to ask him how he liked that. New York has such great food in all price points that it always just befuddles me how one can have this sort of dining experience. I've read so many reviewers who seem to like this place. Perhaps our experience was an anomaly or perhaps people just have different tastes, but either way we most certainly would not return.

Has a big gluten-free menu

By Andrew K |

And that menu was why my wife and I recently had an early dinner here -- I'm a gluten-free pescatarian, and am pretty tired of being served exactly the same gluten-free penne at every Italian restaurant in New York City. I came in hoping to get some sort of gluten-free noodles, but wound up sharing the GF spring rolls ($8.95) with my wife: they were mediocre, with a tough wrapping that smacked of numerous re-fries. My wife wound up getting Beef Chow Fun ($13.95) on the regular menu, which was light on the beef, and very ordinary. I went for the GF Thai Basil Shrimp ($19.95), which came with loads of shrimp and was very good. So: meh, so-so, and pretty good. Three Sauvignon Blancs at $10 each were worthwhile. Not worth a special trip, even for me, but maybe if we're in the area again.

Gluten Free Chinese Food

By canadianchick2015 |

We ate off of their gluten free menu, not out of choice but because of my daughter's celiac. We tried several of their dishes as we went there twice during our 7 day stay in NYC. We especially enjoyed their pork dumplings, crispy spring rolls and crispy sesame shrimp (all were surprisingly gluten free.) The staff are friendly and very efficient. The food was amazing. Very tasty and served very hot. The main floor of the restaurant is small and the woman's washroom has a full length mirror in it which kind of creaped me out but the food made up for any discomfort that the washroom may have caused.

Asian cuisine

By yossy0223 |

Not so many chinese, you can get major Asian food at lilli. Not original food, it is arranged.

Great Chinese with a good gluten free menu

By Rupertruth |

Visited Lilli and Loos yesterday. My wife is coeliac so has to have GF. Chinese restaurants are really hard for coeliacs so finding a Chinese restaurant with an extensive GF menu was amazing. We shared a GF dumpling starter and then I had the spicy noodles with shrimp and my wife had a GF Kung Pao chicken. All absolutely delicious. Service was great too. An absolute gem if you are GF and miss Chinese food. So good we are going back again today.

Eating Easy

By Virginia K P |

Lilli and Loo feels like my secret oasis on the run. Eat alone or with friends this solid Asian cuisine (especially the soups!) for very little on the pocketbook while sitting at a cloth covered table in a room with a hip vibe and watchthe world go by.

Last meal in NY

By Carl H |

Discovered this restaurant on our last night in NY. Great food. Pleasant decor and service. We had Roti Canai, Dumplings and Scallion pancakes for appetizers and they were all very good. Main courses, we had Mongolian Beef, Masaman Chicken curry and a noodle dish. All of these were well presented and nice size portions. If we had been staying for a few extra nights, we would have eaten here again.

Good Value for NYC

By Iambic |

We're surprised by the less-than-positive reviews. We had a perfectly decent experience and enjoyed a meal that wasn't priced at a premium just because in NYC. The menu offers a broad (if not bold) range of Asian dishes: Japanese, Chinese, Thai. The main dishes were fine. We particularly enjoyed an appetizer of a kind of egg pancake. Friendly service. Cheap drinks at happy hour.

Very good Asian food

By Amke C |

I ordered a meal in this restaurant for take away. The menu offers a wide variety for a low price. Also the restaurant itself looked a nice place to have dinner, there was a band playing music. And most important, I had a delicious menu with noodles, chicken and shrimp.

GF-tastic

By LondonJPB |

We popped in for a super-quick lunch before heading for the airport. Just a couple of blocks up from Bloomingdale's. Great service, delicious food with great gluten-free options. Will definitely be heading back next time we're in NYC.

Gluten-Free was rubbish

By Jill M |

I was so excited at the prospect of having G-F Chinese food as it is always contaminated with Gluten in the West so I went to Lilli and Loo with an open heart and an empty belly only to be totally disappointed. The food took five minutes to make which is always alarming, even in a wok culture and the meat was quite obviously the frozen reconstituted garbage that most Chinese restaurants use when serving naive tourists. Don't eat here if you want to avoid indigestion and a hole in your pocket when over charged for poor quality G-F food.

Loved the vegetarian rolls!

By Hypatia18 |

I had not had a decent asian style "egg roll" in over ten years. These were top notch and with the Pad Thai I was sad that I had no space left to finish every last bite.

Unfriendly waiter in a rush

By Sambachica |

We went to Lilli and Loo for lunch because of their gluten free menu and ended up with a waiter who was extremely rushed and had a bad attitude about our questions regarding the gluten free choices and our questions about cross contamination in the kitchen. The food was fresh and good but it was ruined by the attitude of this waiter. A little more patience would have gone a long way and earned him a very big tip; which he did not get.

Great Delicious Food!

By Ir Voyager |

Really good, flavourful, delicious food. This place is always busy when we visit so make sure you book in advance, they also do walk ins if you don’t mind waiting! The staff are really friendly and the food & service is quick!

Best gluten free general tsao chicken! Gluten free menu!!! Safe for celiacs!

By naima z |

I am so happy they just reopened!!! They have the best best gluten free menu!!! I am obsessed with the gluten Free general Tao chicken!! It’s so so good! The best Asian gluten free!!

Excellent for gluten allergy folks!

By Christine G |

They are incredible especially for anyone with food allergies. They are extremely conscientious and when I order with a coworker who does not have food allergies they always point out which items are not GF to make sure they are not for me. We are out of their delivery area and pay a small fee - they are always so speedy and the food arrives hot. I adore them and will continue to order from them for years to come! My faves are the GF thai spring rolls, pork dumplings when I used to eat meat, gf thai fried rice, gf egg drop soup, and the ginger tofu veggie dish with rice is great when looking for an extra healthy option :)

Fair Chinese food but I do not care for the dimly lit place to eat.

By Allan S |

The food is okay but it is dark in there and the service in languid at best. his was my second shot here and I still do not care for it and will not return. Food is okay however and maybe it is me.

Amazing for celiac

By Ellyn F |

My daughter was so excited to have gluten-free Chinese food. The sesame chicken was amazing. She also had gf lo mein. We got sushi and a veggie dish. Everything was amazing. Highly recommend

Very good food

By garifl |

6 of us went out to dinner, no one had anything other than something good to say. A wide variety of dishes, and each one was tasty. Staff attentive. Would definitely go again when in the area.

AMAZING GLUTEN FREE!!!!!

By Marie |

Every single time I visit NYC (which is at least once a month), I need to have lunch or dinner at Lilli and Loo!!! The BEST gluten free asian restaurant I have EVER been to! Gluten free menu is very extensive and the staff is VERY careful to prevent cross contamination----I have celiac disease and am extremely sensitive to gluten and never once have I had a problem!! The dumplings are fantastic--YES they have gluten free dumplings!!! and you can get gluten free breaded chicken--so say hello to your favorite crispy chicken dishes. Will be returning for every trip! Can't recommend enough!!! Fast service, fantastic atmosphere, and great for people with allergies (even shellfish-free and vegetarian options!)

Remarkable and Gluten Free

By Paul G |

This is the only place I know where you can get General Tso's chicken GF. It is well prepared and tasty. Similarly, the Singapore noodles are GF and spectacular . Peking duck is also very good but not GF obviously. They make a good margarita at cocktail hour. The price point harmonizes with the high quality.

Gluten-free dumplings!

By Firbette |

They have an entire gluten-free menu available. And it's good food. So if you have been missing dumplings, or general tso's, or kung pao, or even sweet and sour, this is your place.

Great gluten free Thai and sushi on Upper East Side

By AdrienneGraves |

As a gf girl on a girls weekend in NYC, I planned our restaurants around gf searches on the web and learned of Lilli and Loo. The atmosphere was perfect with live music and a beautiful red lacquered wall, small tables, and a helpful staff. Best of all, the gluten free menu was so extensive, it was difficult to choose because of all the delicious options. If you head there, hands down, get the Hard Rock roll and the Tuna Lover...beautifully done and so yummy!

Economical Pan Asian on Lex

By Hugh |

This is a good bet for Japanese & Thai on Lexington. I had a Bento box. Ublike many paces they don't charge for the cup of green tea.

Good gluten free chinese food

By MS87 |

The good part of this restaurant is the tasty gluten free food they have. I tried the spring rolls and the house fried rice but they have a whole gluten free menu. The food was good and its not everywhere you can find gluten free spring rolls but the prices are too high for chinese food. 2 mini spring rolls are about 9USD and thats ridiculous. the fried rice was a huge portion for an acceptable price. They say they delivery between 20block but I was only 8 blocks down and they call me canceling the online order saying it was too far. after I decided to go there and the charged me more then what it was when you order online. I didn't left with a good impression.

Very happy pescetarian wife and gluten free husband!

By reedprev |

With our food preferences, eating out together can be a challenge. But not at Lilli and Loo! Great atmosphere and delicious food made for a great evening! First, Black Angel Roll (Rock shrimp tempura with lots of avocado topped w/ spicy tuna and purple basil...delicious! Entrees. ...Sizzling Platter Tofu cooked beautifully (just the right texture) and wonderful flavor. And Crispy General T'so chicken... amazing, spicy and delicious. And of course, gluten free soy sauce. Ready to return and try something new soon!

Many Gluten Free Choices

By KCFreedie |

Rarely do restaurants offer more than one, very plain, entree (if that) for gluten free diners. This restaurant has an entire menu dedicated to gluten free options. I had a chicken curry dish that was wonderful, and my husband and I loved the coconut sorbet for dessert. For New York City, this place is a bargain. Highly recommended.

Fantastic fresh flavours and a great mix of Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese flavours

By Neil R |

Flavours from all over Asia, fresh and refreshing, beautifully cooked and some really different dishes - meaning you can mix things up and have a selection of tasty dishes from all over Asia in one meal. The venue is popular (I was here on a Monday night and downstairs was full and upstairs was 1/4 full) and rightly so - just along from Bloomingdales and a lovely place to eat.

Great GLUTEN-FREE!!

By Chris G |

We were so excited to find Lilli and Loo! Wonderful Gluten-free options and the staff is very well educated in dealing with gluten-free. We had the Kalbi beef, dumplings and orange chicken--ALL gluten-free!! Great place!!

Great food!

By Beth E |

We loved this place! The food was excellent and fast! Great gluten free menu as well! Comfortable seating and good service!

Tasty gluten free

By Foxtrotx |

Amazing variety of gluten free menu items to choose from. When I had to stop eating gluten for medical reasons, I never thought I'd be able to have things like crispy honey shrimp ever again. But they have that and all the asian-american favorites gluten free! My "go to" is the chicken lettuce wraps. I'm so happy this place is here and that they understand the importance of dietary restrictions and allergies. If you aren't gluten free, they have an even wider menu selection. This is my favorite takeaway lunch spot or its fun to get together here with a small group of friends for dinner.

Gluten Free Asian cuisine to die for

I am so head over heels in love with this place. I have been to one other gluten free "Chinese" restaurant near where I live in the "burbs" and then there is PF Changs. But nothing compares to the extensive and delicious food at Lilli and Loo. Not only is the food wonderful, the atmosphere is just delightful, a really upbeat comfortable place that was great for people of all ages. There were several babies and young children who were all so well behaved I didn't know they were there. It was Sat night and there was live music as well around 6 pm. It is just so fantastic to have a meal like this in NYC or anywhere for that matter. It is hop skip and jump to Bloomingdales. Another impressive thing was the rest room. It was immaculate and very attractive. I shared my meal with a friend who doesn't need to eat gluten free but did so we could share. She loved the food as much as I did. Enough said. This place is a gem.

Wide selection of gluten-free options

By David P |

Very wide selection of gluten-free dining options. Best selection I've seen in an asian restaurant. Only issue that I had were the pork dumplings tasted like the frozen dumplings from "Feel Good Foods" - which have a very gummy texture.

Hoped for better

By OmanRob |

Finding an Asian place with good reviews that does gluten free meant high expectations and hopes, unfortunately not met - fried rice was cold and oily - sesame beef was fairly tasteless - peking duck was chewy and plum sauce not great + pepper beef was really top notch Bill was amongst the priciest of meals here so not cheap either but I guess its UES ? Extensive gluten free menu

By Laura W |

We ate at Lilli and Loos on Xmas day and were not disappointed! I had my first Chinese meal since being diagnosed with coeliac disease and couldn't have enjoyed it more! I had a rice noodle nice which was fresh and with just the right amount of spice. they served gluten free beers too, which was the icing on the cake!

Great place for an affordable lunch

By Kenneth M |

Great affordable tasty lunch. Many options. Plenty food on the plates despite a whole day sightseeing, we hardly couldnt eat everything. The food was served quickly. Quiet place.

Great Gluten free options and regular Asian food

By 3LilCritters |

We were there beginning of June. Dined in the first time we ate there. Nice atmosphere but our waitress wasn't very pleasant, no facial expressions and seemed annoyed. A male served our food and was more accommodating. In our party of 5, 2 ordered GF and other 3 regular. I thought GF sesame chicken was great, also had some of my daughters GF orange chicken and it was good. My family who ordered regular said it was good. I did order myself GF take out the next day from here. Carryout was quick.

Delicious Asian food and nice atmosphere

By Ellen B |

This was the perfect place for lunch on the East Side of Manhattan. The restaurant is very bright during daytime hours, and has two levels for dining. We ate upstairs. Really good food! I had the Saigon rolls (wrapped in rice paper and served fresh, not fried, stuffed with cool cucumber, jicama, avocado, mango, soba, herbs, nori, spicy mint dip)), side salad with a delicious tangy dressing, and the Pom Teriyaki Grilled Chicken (chicken over steamed vegetables with pomegranate teriyaki). The lunch menu specials are an excellent value. If you enjoy Asian cuisine and are near the 59th Street and Lexington Avenue area, this is a great choice.

Great Asian Food

Great for all needs and tastes including Gluten Free. Presented nicely with friendly staff. Will be back!

NYC Eats - Delish and Priced Right!

By Tanders25 |

Worried about where to eat in NYC that won't break the bank? Lilli & Loo is the place for you! It rhymes. That must be a sign that this is THE place! Upper East Side, Asian cuisine. How well did we like it? We ate there twice in 5 days. Crisp, fresh, made-to-order and the cost was very un-NYC-like....paid in the $30 range for the two of us. Them's Midwest prices!! The service was very nice and the food equally delicious both nights so don't risk big money on what may be an equally good meal elsewhere. Trust me. Isn't that a movie line? Really, it's a place to which we will return on our next trip to NYC. Lilli & Loo......WooHoo!

Fun, varied menu with tasty offerings

By William L |

Quick visit but delicious prawn tempura and decent green papaya salad. Wide range of choice on the menu and friendly staff. Will definitely return to try more.

THEY ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE

By Claudia |

They assure that they cook everything separate and that they use gluten free soy sauce, but they use the same soy sauce ( no gluten free) for every body therefore I cannot trust them anymore. If you are celiac please thing well before going in. By the way pecan pie is not any good.

Meh

By BadBadDog |

Not terrible, not great. As with most “ pan Asian” restaurants there is no specialty hence nothing outstanding. They DO have a gluten free menu if anyone in your party cares. Do not go there for the sushi, it is grocery store quality. The upstairs is overheated in winter.

Catastrophic

By Christine de Loë |

My hotel placed the order. Over and a hour and a half waiting for the food. Order arrives cold and total mess up in plates ordered . When you call the restaurant they don't understand what u say and the noise is killer your ears. Awful never again!!!!!

Delightful quality Asain Dining in small intimate setting

By UWLAW68 |

Located a round the corner we peeked in and decided to try it. Great food and service. Terrific selection of food. Nice wine and beer selections . Was so good first night in NYC that I returned for take-out two nights later when they were packed on a Saturday night.

Gluten Free and super tasty!

By Clara D |

Being a celiac gluten free Chinese food is not something I come across often. This was a great find! I ordered the sesame crispy chicken with Thai spring rolls and it was delicious! Would 100% recommend for any celiac who isn’t usually able to treat themselves to food like this! My partner ordered off of the regular menu, getting Singapore noodles and hot and sour soup; he said this was also super tasty!

AMAZING GLUTEN FREE!

By JMKinSC |

We ate here specifically because of the gluten free items and they were so, SO amazing. We were dying because it tasted so good. Being celiac I have not had good Asian cuisine in many, many years. I had the General Tso's chicken and it was heaven. A+++ we will be back this summer and I have already put it on our To do list. I ight have to eat here very day of my trip!

Disappointing pan fried noodles

By travelmystique |

The place is clean but I was very disappointed with its pan fried noodles. There were not enough crispy fried noodles and it was very, very salty. No happy smiley service people here. But because of its location, which is near the subway station on 63rd, I might go back and try again.

Made GF Daughter's Trip

By LaniesRents |

I traveled to NYC with my GF daughter for her birthday. Found Lili and Loo's searching for GF options. Daughter is a picky eater. She doesn't like textured foods or foods mixing. She also doesn't like spicy food, so I wasn't sure how this would go. She loved Lili and Loo's, especially General Tsao's Chicken. She normally cannot have that dish because always made with gluten. I liked the GF dishes also, and thought the General Tsao's sauce was a unique; sweet upon first taste with a spicy-ish aftertaste. Prices were higher than asian food at home, but more than reasonable by NYC standards. Lili and Loo's was the hit of her trip. We came back to NYC six months later for family vacation, and she begged to go back. We did and even my son, who wanted to go to Wendy's instead, and who is not GF, loved it. Highly recommend it for any GF or non GF travelers.

Comfort Food

By Amrita241 |

It was the best comfort food I had in New York. Well priced and delicious. Portions were satisfactory. Take away order was convenient.

LOVE THIS PLACE!

By Alexandluciesmom |

We struggle to find gluten free restaurants when we travel, and this restaurant was a real find. Love it so much. Today, when we went for lunch, my daughter and I both ordered gluten free meals (even though I'm not gluten free) so that we could share. We ordered general tso's chicken and kung pao chicken. I have to say, the general tsp's ranked up there with the best I've ever had. So good! Absolutely perfect all white meat chicken on the inside with the perfect sauce. The kung pao was also good, but the general tso's was my favorite. This wasn't our first time in this restaurant (went there two years ago on our last NYC trip), and it won't be our last.

Most amazing gluten free menu ever!

By glenbluecat |

I have never been given such an extensive choice of gluten free food and especially not Asian cuisine. I had a whole menu book to myself with pages of different dishes. Also gluten free beer available. Absolutely the highlight of my holiday and I would go back to New York just to visit this restaurant. Spicy rice noodles with pork, chicken and prawn was to die for.

Very good

By Andrew G |

My family and I visited last night. It was fantastic. We used Trip Advisor to search a Chinese restaurant in the area and came up with Lilli and Loo. Thanks again for the help :-) Our meal was excellent and so was the service. It was also priced right. It was good to see lots of locals in there, and a Beverly busy take out service. All makes you think it wasn't a once off with the service and quality we received.

If you are looking for Gluten Free Chinese in NYC, look no further!

By Lisa GS |

I had looked up this restaurant before traveling to NYC for my birthday and ended up eating here twice because being able to have dumplings and sesame chicken that are gluten free is such a rare treat! The service was honestly just so-so (we had a waitress upstairs who wasn't very friendly, especially when my order was wrong and I had to send it back - she told me I had ordered the wrong thing instead of accepting she may have put in the wrong order and then rolled her eyes when she had to take it back), but honestly, the food was so great I'd still go back again. If you are looking for Gluten Free Chinese in NYC, look no further!

Nom nom

By jenjenbobdog |

Run, don't walk! Extensive gluten free menu. We had pork dumplings, chicken fried rice, general Tsao's chicken, ginger salad and spring rolls. We wanted to lick our plates. Soooooo good!

Great food, drinks, and prices (at least for the area)

By Leo M |

Lillo and Loo is our 'goto' restaurant in the area around Bloomingdale's when we're in the mood for Chinese food as the prices and quality are excellent as are the mixed drinks. But overall our experience has been that the other Asian cuisines (e.g. Japanese, Malay, Thai, etc.) are hit or miss and the sushi is best avoided. But on our last visit - dinner with a Grandma keen on Thai and my son bent on Sushi - was a very pleasant surprise. The Thai was tasty and the fish in the sushi fresh and delicious. So my new advice is that - for dinner if perhaps not for the lunch specials - you can happily order anything on the menu. For those keeping tabs on such things, service was excellent though not exemplary and the decor at Lilli & Loo continues to be it's own modern-ish, Asian-ish self.

Average Food, Service a Bit Lacking

By Ken H |

Took my family there for an early dinner. My daughter ordered sesame chicken which was quite tasty but lukewarm, and it arrived approximately 15 minutes before my wife's and my sushi rolls did. The dragon and salmon rolls were ok, but not great. I ordered green tea which was exceptional; however, it came in a cup with no handle and nearly burned my hand. I had to ask for a spoon to stir the sweetener. Also, two of the plates had to be returned because they weren't clean. I'm not trying to be picky, but these are the little things that if diligence is applied, make the difference in a good or lackluster dining experience. I must add that the servers were pleasant.

Reliable fast Asian near Bloomingdales UES

By Kafpro |

It doesn't have to be the best or most authentic (it's not), but sometimes just showing up is enough. And Lilli and Loo absolutely shows up in a neighborhood where having a fast, table-set Asian is more than convenient. I eat there more than I intend, but without high expectations, my expectations are met, and at a fair price in a clean and comfortable room.

GLUTEN FREE & NON GLUTEN FREE WERE DISAPPOINTING

By Harvey M |

This restaurant serves both gluten free food as well as non-gluten free food. If you want gluten free ASK FOR the gluten free menu, otherwise you will get the regular menu only. From the regular menu I ordered BBQ Boneless Ribs appetizer which were tough but had a nice flavor. From the gluten free menu I ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. Based on the Shrimp's total lack of taste, I would say that they were pre-cooked and mixed in with a lobster sauce that also had no taste to it.

Awesome Gluten Free Asian Food in NYC

By Cat V |

It is hard to find Celiac-friendly chinese or thai restaurants. This restaurant on Lex was awesome -- my kids were in heave with beef & broccoli, wide noodles, Chicken Satay, and more. We are from Austin and really need a place like this. The GF menus is huge. The normal menu is extensive too, and the Chow Fun noodles are a treat. White table cloth and extensive drink list, modern upscale dining. The tables are a bit tight, kind of close together, hard to have a private conversation but this is New York City. The wait staff was super friendly. We had a reservation but on a weeknight, not too busy. Menu is affordable, huge portions. I wish you were in Austin!!! Thank you for a great dinner and night out.

Good food, good service, relaxing atmosphere

By CaptLex |

I've been to this restaurant several times with a friend who really likes it because of the gluten-free options on their menu (which he needs). It's near my job and whenever he's in the area we meet up there and have a meal together. Last week we shared a plate of GF fried pork dumplings and then he ordered the General Tso dish and I tried the pork chow fun. It was delicious and filling - I even had leftovers for lunch the next day. The servers are friendly and attentive (never let your glass run out of water) and the price is very reasonable. I definitely recommend it.

Great g-free menu...and great non g-free menu

By Alexandluciesmom |

My family of five went for dinner because my nine year old has celiac and needs gluten free food. This place came up on my g-free restaurant app, so we thought we'd give it a try. First, I LOVE it when restaurants have extensive g-free menus. Sadly, many restaurants SAY they have a g-free menu, then it's like two items. My daughter ordered the mongolian beef and ate ALL OF IT. My other two kids, who aren't g-free, ordered general tso's chicken. They loved it too - but they should have shared because it was very large. I ordered a shrimp noodle dish that was on their specialty menu and it was yummy. Overall, it was reasonably priced and wonderful food. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in the city - whether my daughter is with me or not. You probably need a reservation though. We called about an hour before we wanted to go and were able to get in, but it was crowded. It's not a very big place, so I would be safe and call ahead.

BEST GLUTEN FREE ASIAN FOOD!!!!!!!!!!

By maria |

I have a gluten and dairy allergy and with that comes the lack of delicious Asian food options in my home town. When visiting friends and family in New York City, I was pleased to see that Lilli and Loo offered an entirely gluten-free menu. I have never seen any Asian restaurant be so inclusive with their gluten-free offerings. I ordered the gluten-free spring rolls and the gluten-free General Tso's chicken. I was in HEAVEN! I haven't tasted such amazing since before the diagnosis of my allergies. Now every time I visit NYC, I order Lilli and Loo take out before I drive back home! I recommend this to anyone who has a gluten sensitivity or allergy. I never had a reaction after eating here and I find it to be the safest gluten-free Asian restaurant in New York City.

If you are looking for gluten-free Asian food this is your place...

By K8yorr |

...but don't expect it to be the across-the-board the best Asian food you've ever eaten. We had gluten-free Pad Thai, and it tasted more like ketchup than anything else. The lettuce wraps were fantastic, and also GF. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and service was pleasant and efficient. There were tons of options, which probably means you'll be able to find something you like. The location is large, and they take reservations, and I would definitely go back (though probably I would skip the Pad Thai this time...). My dining partners were also happy to see that there were also many sushi options.

Bland, blah takeout

By prospero50 |

Extremely mediocre food. "Fried" rice is bland, blah white rice, cooked but with no sizzle, minimal seasoning and weird strips of processed "white meat chicken". Chow fun just gelatinous noodles with minimal seasoning. Not greasy, not grisly, just tasteless. Extremely disappointing.

First choice for family birthdays, celebrations, treats

By holly c |

I am writing this review from the perspective of a celiac family. We have only tasted the gluten free food at L&L. However...........that alone can keep you busy. Although it is relatively easy to adapt Asian food to be gluten free, it requires a commitment, and Lilli & Loo has stepped up and made that commitment. In doing so, they've given us a huge giant step towards inclusion. Until L&L, my children had never tasted Chinese food. Very difficult since there are Chinese restaurants on every block here in NYC. But Lilli & Loo stands alone, with or without their gluten friendly status. Their food is tasty and well curated. They don't have a menu a mile long with Chiang Kei Shek's former chef cooking it (seriously, HOW MANY NYC restaurants claim to have been Chiang kai Shek's chef??), but they have plenty of items. Something for everyone...meats, seafood, noodles, and vegetarian dishes. One standout is the Saigon rolls. The dipping sauce is absolutely amazing. When asked, they refused to give me so much as a hint as to what's in that sauce. Well, we know it's not gluten. It's just amazing, minty and tangy. It's also very nice to be able to order dumplings, shrimp tempura, Kung Po chicken, all the big things that most people are fans of. The quality is very good...it's a few notches higher than a corner neighborhood restaurant, and so are the prices. As celiacs, we don't get a choice, but the quality of the food does merit the pricing. Service in house is....pretty good. Not phenomenal but not horrible. We usually get take away. The restaurant is pretty tight and I don't think they take reservations. Additionally, it's right near Bloomingdales so lots of tourist and foot traffic near there. You could wait a while for a table if it's busy. When we have our family, and we want to sit down for a meal, we usually make sure we hit it on the early side of dinner. Being able to have tasty, spicy, interesting Chinese food like normal people is such a treat. Almost everyone in our family chooses L&L for their birthday or celebration food.

Delicious food from a varied menu

By Jo C |

On a block of Lexington where there seem to be numerous Asian-themed restaurants, Lilli and Loo is a fine option. Their menu is varied and diverse with sushi options as well as noodles and rice dishes. Servers were pleasant, service was quick, food was fresh and tasty. Adequate wine and cocktail list as well. There's live music on Friday evenings as well.

Mixed review

By Audrey Q |

The food was good but the waitress was unfriendly and rude. I have food allergies other than just gluten and when I attempted to ask for help with ingredients over the phone and in person, the lady I talked with wasn't willing to be very accomodating which did cause me to have health issues after my visit. Because of her rudeness, I'd never go back there.

Mean service decent food

By Catherine1309 |

Don't go for the service. The food is pretty solid. Not expensive and good choice for a fast lunch. Don't like that no one greets you nicely. Customer service is non existent.

Excellent Thai and Chinese Eatery!! Loved It!!

By Shaked007 |

Sometimes these chance discoveries are the best.... I was strolling along Lexington Avenue in the evening looking for a place to eat, when I ran into this pretty, clean and inviting little place - Lilli and Loo. The fact that there were many people seated inside was another encouraging feature......So in I went. Good decision!! Since I was alone, I couldn't sample many dishes, but from what I saw on other tables, whatever people ordered looked beautiful, and the servings are very generous indeed. I started off with a large bowl of my favourite hot & sour soup, which was wonderful. This was followed by spicy mandarin beef, which was excellent. That's all (I told you.....). However, since the place I usually stay at in NY is nearby, I shall most definitely return to Lilli and Loo's!!! Don't Miss It!!

Love this place!

By Alexandluciesmom |

We never miss a visit to Lilli and Loo when we're in NYC. My daughter has celiac, so our choices of restaurants are limited. Even if I didn't have to worry about her food, I'd love this restaurant. It's high quality asian food - think General Tso's chicken with all white meat. Not necessarily AUTHENTIC asian food, but yummy nonetheless. And the fact that it's safe for my daughter is a bonus.

Gluten free heaven!!

By Karen V |

I have not had true Chinese food in 6 years due to a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I found this gem by searching for gluten free restaurants in NYC. They have a full gluten free menu, including dessert. I ordered the sesame chicken and could eat that every day of my life! I will visit this rests risen as often as I can!!

Hmm..

By myholidays12 |

The restaurant has a nice interior but the food was very average and the staff without the smile. Go to Ginza next door instead.

Fantastic gluten free food

By Scott G |

My wife and sons have Celiac disease, and this is by far the best gluten free asian food they've ever had, especially the spring rolls. They are highly sensitive to gluten contamination and we've eaten here twice with no ill effects, so they are doing it right. Great non gluten free food, too, and a nicely decorated restaurant.

Yummy Un-Saucy Asian Food

Love ordering out from here! Great Cold Sesame Noodles and Chicken Satay. Food is reasonable and comes in 1/2 an hour.

No starter

By Elena D |

Good only the seconds . No good the starter but economic. If u are near central park u can try go to this restaurant only 7 min wark. Not bad

Gluten free Chinese! All on the normal menu !!!

By howard p |

Fabulous - a real New York Chinese restaurant, absolutely packed with locals rather than tourists. Outstanding quality. Great range. Everything offered gluten free. Very reasonable cost. Best night of our trip.

Blah, blah,blah

By Marilyn A |

Asian fusion for the seniors. I was truly surprised at the lack of seasoning until i looked around at the age of most of the diners. The restaurant is clean so a plus. I would not go back

Gluten Free Options

By Kevin B |

I have dined here multiple times as it offers a nice Gluten Free menu. Not too many restaurants offer an exclusive GF menu, but this one does. Even when you order take out the cartons are labeled with a "GF" sticker to show you that you are dining Gluten Free. And YES, there is a separate GF take out menu as well. Skip the "fried rice" dishes (not very flavorful) but the Thai Basil Chicken and Kalbi Style Beef are really good. Miss eating pork dumplings?! They have 'em Gluten Free. From appetizers, to entrees, to desserts (Blueberry Pound Cake!!!), you have so many options from which to choose. If you're in NYC and want to dine on Gluten Free Asian food, you can't go wrong here.

YUM! Gluten free too?!

By R M |

Delicious food, with many gluten free options. The crispy and delicious spicy tangerine beef was the best thing I've tasted in a while.

Good

By thefoodchannel |

if you are near by is definetly a good spot! If you want some glutenfree tasty thai or chinese food this place is safe!! Huge portions amazing fresh beverages at a very good price.

Excellent restaurant

By Dave H |

Reccomend by a family member, and can't thank them enough. A busy restaurant where the staff take time to aid, and serve you, and has a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended for gluten free, with a separate menu, but most dishes can be made GF upon request, those that can't be are advised so upon ordering. The pricing is good for the location, and I'd honestly happily have paid more.

Great food, loved the gluten-free options!

By LSS13 |

They had an extensive gluten-free menu, with appetizers and entrees that tasted amazing! You couldn't tell they were gluten-free! We were very pleased with the cozy ambiance, the knowledge of the staff, and the delicious bubble-tea!

Wonderful food whether gluten intolerant or not

By AreWeThereYetNowThen |

The food here is delicious, full stop. The flavours are balanced very well and everything is cooked to perfection (except the satay chicken starter which was a bit of a disappointment). The selection has classics and less usual options depending on how adventurous you want to be. The drink selection also can be out of the ordinary with tea flavoured cold milky drinks with tapioca pearls at the bottom if you desire (lovely). I love Chinese food but since my wife and I became gluten intolerant it's one area of food you're dicing with death with due to both the lack of understanding about gluten and the language barrier. No worries on either count here. The gluten free menu had plentiful options and everyone spoke very good English. There is very low chance of cross-contamination either as they even go as far as serving g/f food on square plates rather than the normal ones. Went here twice for our evening meal on a 5 day hol and both times we were very happy with our selections and really enjoyed it. The décor is nice and the feel of the place is pleasant. The staff are nice except the person who greeted us both times (who was crabby on each occasion but did remember us the 2nd time as being gf before us having to say). One word of warning, the food is very rich. After two nights in a row we needed something more bland after. This is not a criticism, just a comment, the food was delightful!

Amazing GF menu selection

By Lori B |

Traveling in NYC with our daughter who has Celiac Disease was a challenge. We spoke with the chefs at Lilli and Loo before our vacation and they assured us they were gluten free and Celiac friendly (which can be 2 very different things). My daughter got to enjoy her first egg roll since being diagnosed with CD and was beyond happy! I must admit, my daughter was a bit skeptical upon ordering due to a slight language barrier but because we spoke with the restaurant ahead of time, we felt safe. So happy we took our time to locate this restaurant and enjoy a wonderful meal out with our daughter. Highly recommended for many reasons!

Gluten Free Wonder!

By DGulbin |

I had done a fair amount of research on where best to eat in NY given that I have to eat Gluten free and was a little nervous about eating at Lilli and Loo. How can a restaurant live up to such glowing reviews? It turns out very easily! The most extensive gluten free menu I encountered and such great tasting food. We ended up eating here multiple times during our visit and could see why the restaurant is always bursting with diners. Would not hesitate to recommend and can't wait to return.
