Best to book at weekends

By jeremy s |

Lively atmosphere and quick service. Chicken good and sides excellent. Macaroni cheese a good dish. Felt like a San Francisco version of Nando's.

This branch is not listed yet for this city. Food is great and service excellent. Need to make reservation for dinner or wait.

Super good food, super busy place

We met up with a friend here and the place was super busy. It was pride weekend, so it was expected to be busy. The food was amazing and the service was superb. I would recommend this place.

Delicious and Flavorful Peruvian Food at SFO Airport!

By Parviz M |

We had a rather long layover at San Francisco International Airport going to Munich. My daughter suggested lunch at Limon Rotisserie in Terminal 3. She had a nice experience at a Limon Rotisserie restaurant in San Francisco earlier. It is a Peruvian cuisine and serves delicious marinated rotisserie chicken with a variety of excellent Peruvian sauces. We ordered quarter white chicken with their famous Aji Amarillo Huacatay sauce and with two sides of Camote fries (sweet potato) and Jasmine Rice. It was simply a delightful lunch and we all enjoyed it very much. The chicken is so tasty and has a lot of flavor. We really liked the sauce and asked for extra. The Camote fries was also very good. It is really great to have very good food options at major airports these days. I highly recommend the Limon Rotisserie and will go there again when in SF or at SFO Airport. The best rotisserie chicken

By Nativityscene |

We eat at Limon periodically, but not nearly often enough. Their chicken is perfectly cooked, deliciously seasoned (lots of garlic and lime), and the accompanying sides are perfectly paired with the centerpiece chicken. I was particularly impressed this time with the side order of vegetables. They were also delicious, succulent, and wonderfully seasoned. I was not aware that mac and cheese is a Peruvian favorite, but their truffled mac and cheese is superb. We tried it for the first time, and will be coming back for more. The mac is just the right texture (not gooey) with distinctive shape still allowed of the elbows, and the sauce is the right level of cheese and richness with a touch of truffle oil. The whole meal comes with a reasonable price tag, a noisy and festive atmosphere, and enthusiastic shaken cocktails. I highly recommend this spot.

Fabulous meal

By Tara J |

Wow! That was the best food, hands down. The atmosphere was wonderful, but a little loud. The waitress was pleasant and the rest of the staff was friendly. We had the half chicken with green beans and rice. It's flavor was amazing. I would definitely be interested in trying that next time we are in town.

Food is delicious

Though it could be noisy, eating at Limón is a wonderful experience. Roasted chicken is unforgettable, the same as seafood. A place to recommend and come back.

Wonderful Peruvian food in the Mission

By Ken B |

This highly rated Peruvian white tablecloth restaurant lives up to its reputation. Went for brunch, wonderful Peruvian drinks and menu. Very friendly service too. Make a reservation for sure. Explore the menu, many items you might not recognize, but you will love.

it was okay till i went to the bathroom

By marcus |

This is one of the worst experience i ever had. we wanted to check this place out because it just opened here in Burlingame and its a small town so people are willing to try the new kid on the block. The portions where horrible, the food very average, the service just bad and then i went to the bathroom.. i was shockt!! never, i mean.. never saw a toilet so dirty! overflowing garbage and right by the kitchen!! I had to do a number 2 and when i was ready i was searching for the 'on button' to get the water to come out of the faucet. Then somebody knocks on my door, i was in there for 3 minutes trying to get out there as fast as possible. i opened the door and the kitchen help stared in my face... if i could hurry up!! i said the faucet is not working and he said o you have to push this button and we both looked under the sink and and he wiggled the faucet and the water came out!! how could somebody ever know this! do the cooks wash there hands? the customers cant that's for sure.

Great Tasting Roti Chicken and Sides!

By Harry W |

I visited here with my wife and daughter on a Sunday evening -- it was quiet and the place was about 30% full. The food was really good -- to the point where we ordered more roti-chicken "for dessert". They had an excellent stir fried green bean dish which was very flavorful. My wife and daughter both ordered salads and they too were spectacular. The service was good and the food delivery was pleasantly quick! I love roti-chicken that's well done, so I will be returning!

Hidden Gem in Mission District of San Francisco

By Jebteal |

Food unique and delicious! The flank steak was awesome, the ceviche the best in town. Service was friendly and prompt.

You have to try this place!

By DRR |

Great food and great atmosphere. Arrived 30 minutes early for reservation and they gave us a table immediately, even though they had an hour wait for people without reservations....so reservations highly recommended. We tried the Carne and Pollo Empanadas and both were excellent. The Arroz con Mariscos was good but not great. The ceviche was excellent! We had the Ceviche de Pescado y Camaron and Leche Tigre Cocktail. If you like a stronger lemon/citrus taste, I'd recommend the lather but again both were great. Yuca fries were alright, but a little bland.

So yummy! Friendly staff!

By gqjustin |

Limon! So good. I just can’t wait for my next visit! I visit San Francisco often for work and end up in a lot of the same restaurants as I tend to hang out in the Castro and Mission. My friend Aaron decided to take our group to Limon on Van Ness for dinner and drinks. I was excited as I am not that familiar with Peruvian cuisine. He easily made a reservation over the phone for our group of 10. Upon arriving we let the host know that we had two cancelations due to a rainstorm that was attacking the bay area. The rain was needed… but it was a doozey! The hosts seemed unfazed and quickly rearranged the table. As our group arrived one by one… we ordered drinks that were quickly delivered. After everyone was seated, our server was there to take our orders. As we chatted and sipped our drinks, the food surprised as it arrived so promptly! It was all yummy! Everyone loved their meal. The décor was modern, clean, and pleasant. The bar area was handsome. It appeared that there was a private dining room in the back for groups, but I can’t be sure. The server continued to check on us and friendly bussers came by frequently to remove empty glasses and dinnerware. When we requested a group photo, the server was very accommodating. She took the multiple photos and worked hard to get a good shot. I can’t wait for my next visit to Limon!

Does NOT disappoint!

By Alex L |

Whether you go to the Valencia or the South Van Ness location you will not be disappointed! This is also true with the food, there was a large group of us, a total of 6 and they were able to accommodate us with no problem. We ordered a little bit of everything, the Tuna Tartare was to die for! The chicken, sides, empanadas, and cocktails are spot on! Everything was delicious and satisfying. The service was good too! Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the Mission District.

Cocktails

By MoMo808 |

Recommended by a client. He wasn't wrong when he said it was "Great spot to stop for a fabulous cocktail". The bartender is very accommodating to make my drink not tooo sweet. Stop by, you'll enjoy it!

Great Casual Peruvian

By Tod G |

Come here for the food and friendly service. The rotisserie chicken is a must. Very flavorful and its in the place's name. I look forward to returning.

Great intro into Peruvian Cuisine

By T L |

Pico Sour was yummy. The Beef tongue was to die for. It was perfectly cooked and leaves me wanting to go back just for those two items alone. The place has some wonderful Peruvian flavors, I will be back!

All about the chicken

By Draggie |

Very busy - thankful we reserved a table but still had to wait 15 minutes. The chicken is fantastic - so much so that we ordered more after abandoning the veggie dish (not to our palette). The seafood dish was also good but not great. Go there for the chicken and the atmosphere.

Fantastic food

By seamsplitter |

First the bad news--don't go here if you're in a hurry or want a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, don't confuse this with their sister restaurant on Valencia. The good news--the food is fabulous!! As stated in other reviews, the chicken is absolutely delicious--moist, seasoned perfectly. At $24 for a whole chicken (8 pieces), actually not that expensive. We had the ceviche mixto--very nice flavor and all of the seafood was fresh. As good as anything we tasted in Peru. The seafood and rice was very satisfying and full of flavor. To be honest, we didn't expect much with the dessert, but the chocolate cake was outstanding (served with coffee gelato). Cost $9.50, but definitely rich enough to split. Oh, and the pitcher that everyone is ordering is the sangria--and yes, there's a reason why everyone orders it--tasty and pairs perfectly with the food. We'll definitely be coming back to try more....

Group Dinner In San Fransico

By Travelcouple15801 |

We recently had a family group dinner at Limon. Upon our arrival Limon was quite busy, but we had made a reservation and we seated fairly quickly. We found the food to be good quality, well prepared, and the service was good considering how busy they were when we arrived. It was very noisy but most likely expected for the number of people dining. Try the Tacu-Tacu it was very good.

Delish!

By Sherry S |

We ate lunch at the Valencia St. address & loved everything about it. First, service was excellent, with utensils being replaced after each course. That's always a plus for me. Hubby & I shared trio of ceviches. I'm not sure what they were, but they were beautifully presented and terrific. Next we shared the lomo Saltado, a traditional Peruvian dish of beef cubes, onions, peppers, and I think thin cuts of potatoes served with the most delicious rice. Outstanding! I ordered a mojada to drink, a traditional yummy non alcoholic Peruvian drink, not too sweet, that was so very satisfying. Hubby had a glass of sangria which was quite good. Go to this restaurant! You will not be disappointed.

It hit the spot !

By Rick L |

Made reservations, got seated. Attentive service and funny observation - all male servers. No big deal, they were excellent. The food was all food but the portions are pretty small. The sangria is quite potent. Overall good experience.

Chicken is best!!

By Nati |

You definitely have to check out this chicken!! Its delicious and not overrated. The ceviche is pretty good too! Make sure to get a reservation before had because the wait can be long.

Best Peruvian in SF

By Meghan B |

After eating at multiple Peruvian places in SF, this is my favorite hands down. Fresh ceviche, delicious cocktails and mouthwatering eats- the grilled octopus is a must! I would definitely recommend going with a many people so you can taste and share most of the menu.

Excellent Peruvian Food!

By Stu Y |

It was our first time having Peruvian food and we enjoyed it very much. The pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken) was moist and tasty, though it would have been even better it the skin were crispy. We chose the sides of Yucca frieas and vegetables which complemented the meal nicely. We also shared the lomo saltado which was a unique beef stir fry with onions and french fries. Our servers were very pleasant though our place settings lacked knives and they forgot to serve the aji sauces with the chicken. Not a big deal as they were quick to respond when we asked. We will return again!

Solid Peruvian food

By Helmut |

Indeed, the ceviche was excellent and the lomo saltado looked to die for (except I do not eat meat). The place was a bit loud, the chair hard and service spotty. What did irk me, however, was the nice verse on the front of the dessert menu mentioning picarones. The back, however, did not have picarones. That bait & switch will cost Limon a point, especially because the tres leches was far from the best I have had elsewhere...

Wow. Great food prepared quickly

By TMandTM |

Stopped on our way to airport to catch a flight home on a Monday night. Arrived at 6:45 and got lucky as we were able to get seated without a reservation. (It got very crowded at 7:00.) Food was excellent and service was very fast for a restaurant of this quality. Kitchen is open to the dining room so you can see and smell the wonderful combinations of ingredients. We weren't rushed by them but had a bit of a self imposed time constraint. We were in and out in 45 minutes. (No time for dessert)

Great Food, Nice Place for dinner

By Luckyis |

Saw Limon Rotisserie during my second visit to San Francisco and put it on my to do list for my third visit. I'm glad to have tried it this past week. Food was tasty, atmosphere was good. The restaurant was busy, servers were very good. The only drawback was the noise level. Was too loud to carry on a conversation comfortably but the patrons seemed to be having a good time. Nice choice of crafted cocktails.

Worth the mission to visit this chicken!

By rosie419 |

First time at this restaurant since we went to see 'hair' at the Victoria theatre a few blocks away. The Paella was wonderful but enough for one person ..not enough for sharing unless you had a very big breakfast. The salad was good as well but not particularly generous.

Limon Restaurant at 21st St & South Van Ness

By wellTravelledPapa |

Best rotisserie Chicken I have ever tasted in San Francisco. Excellent Mac N Cheese, very good sweet potato fries, good mixed green salad. Dynamite Pisco Sour drink from the bar. Quality has been outstanding every time I have visited. Cerviche is also excellent.

Even for a vegetarian

By MTmaven |

I was a little skeptical going to a Peruvian spot as a vegetarian but this place's food blew me away. The empanadas were delectable and the yuca fries were fabulous but the beet salad should not be missed. The entire meal was a huge hit with the meat eaters and vegetarians alike... oh and don't forget to order the mac and cheese. We can also vouch for every dessert being marvelous. We ordered ALL of them. Everyone had a different favorite and all of them had at least two votes so I'd say, whatever sounds good to you, will not disappoint!

Latin America Fun

By pyulis |

The vibe was fun and the service was in a way sufficient and happy. Pisco( the local Peruvian alcohol drink) is great for cocktails and generally the cocktails were very good. Ceviche was one of the best, Lomo Saltado was very tasty and the chicken the same. Desserts were good also. You feel like dancing a little bit of salsa, leaving the restaurant.

Good Tasting Chicken

By Denisse K |

we went on a Monday evening, the place is definitely lively! very busy fortunately, we got a spot at the bar. bartender was friendly, quick service. being a native Spanish speaker, I was able to hear the banter going on between the servers. they were extremely crude and did not care at all about the customer hearing them. but, back to the food.... stick to the chicken it's very tasty!! expensive but decent.

Excellent ceviche and great ambience

By rggKaneohe |

Wow. Everythingis amazing. Go for the triple ceviche platter and fried yuca chips. The homemade traditional Peruvian beverage was outstanding.

Very tasty food

By Palladinette |

Very good food at this restaurant. Their chicken wa excellent, and so was the steak. The food was so good that I ate here a couple of times. Expect to spend $20 to $30 for an entree.

If you're in the mood for chicken, look no further.

By J van H |

Great place for a group of friends to hang out while enjoying some of the best chicken in town. The staff are friendly, quick and efficient. The food was great. We ordered empanadas (queso and veggie), polli-papas and half a chicken (pollo a la brasa) with two sides of chips (French fries) and vegetables. The chicken was perfectly cooked. For drinks we had some beer, sangria (delicious) and lemonade (exquisite). All in all I have no complaint about the food. The only thing that would have made the experience perfect is if the place was a little bigger. Many tables seems to be a little too close to each other especially if you're in a couple you may not feel entirely comfortable but for a group of friends it should be fine. I would recommend to call and book your table as early as possible as it tends to get crowded quickly after 18:00. Great place! Must try it!

You need to order the Octopus!!!

By Alex S |

We came here on a visit to San Fran from London. We walked around the bustling Mission district from restaurant to restaurant, looking for somewhere to eat. After a couple of failures, we stumbled upon this gem. The restaurant was busy but service was speedy and not overbearing - as it oft can be the States. We got a selection of dishes and the standout was Octopus. It was rich, delicious and beautifully presented. We had a couple of desserts - the milk cake and chocolate option. Both delicious. Meal inc. drinks and service came to about $90 for two - a fair price for an excellent meal, although one could easily spend more here if wine or cocktails were ordered. All in all, excellent. Highly recommended.

Unlucky?

By Jessica R |

We arrived at the restaurant at about 8.30 hoping for a take away chicken and salad. At 8.40 we were told it would be 30 minutes so left my phone number and returned to B&B few yards down the road. They didn't phone so returned 9.20 to be told they had 'run out of chicken' although it was still being served to customers seated at tables. We did not feel able to wait the suggested 'about another 15 minutes' so settled for just chips and salad so we at least had something to eat! This arrived in about 5 minutes and to be fair, they did not charge. However we still had to do without the chicken to which we had been very much looking forward. Very disappointing!

Excellent roasted chicken

By R2Regina |

Our family had a couple of roast chickens along with a variety of sauces. There were also some tasty side dishes. The service and location were good for us.

Good bang for your buck and taste buds

By JACKIE |

Absolutely loved this place even though it was crowded and we were stuck at the corner of the bar. It was fun watching the bartender make pisco sours and the people call him by first name basis. We ordered the trio ceviche and some yucca fries; both did not disappoint. Although we've had better and various in flavor in Peru, the fish portions were hefty. The yucca fries weren't overly greasy and chunky in size. Busy night so I'd suggest making a reservation even on a weeknight. Street parking (usually free after 6pm I believe).

Nice Peruvian lunch

By cstocker |

I stayed in the neighborhood and the bed & breakfast staff recommended Limon Rotisserie. The location on S Van Ness is small but quaint. I sat at the bar and the bartender recommended the Chicha Morada since I don't drink alcoholic drinks. It had a distinct taste and yummy. For food, I had the delicious classic ceviche mixto and pollo empanada. I really liked the restaurant because of the food and friendly service.

A taste of Peru...

By Brian E |

It was our first time here and recommended by a friend from Peru. Food, drinks and service were perfect for a late afternoon sampler.

Amazing

By Analuosl |

Order ceviche y jalea....awesome food! Small portions, great personnel...I had no wifi and I don't know the city, they helped me to call a taxi. The only thing I didn't like was that they had wifi.

Try the empanadas

By IfJanetRanIt |

Tasty empanadas and a good pisco sour. The paella wasn't anything special. The place was busy and lively for early on a Tuesday.

You can't go wrong at Limon

By Kevin D |

There were 4 of us dining at Limon tonight. My wife & I gave been here a few times. Our friends having never dined at Limon. They let us order. When the food arrived at our table. Their was nothing but silence. We ordered chicken, rice & beans, yuca, civeche & veggie empanadas. We didn't leave anything on our plates. If you have never had Peruvian food, this is the place to try it. You will not be disappointed.

Not just the best Peruvian food I've ever eaten

By Scott |

Food at this restaurant is absolutely amazing. This is not just the best Peruvian food I've ever eaten, it might be some of the best tasting food I've ever eaten. Beef is perfect-- cooked to perfection, seasoned to perfection. Ceviche is perfect-- served on a platter instead of pressed together in a tall narrow glass. Chicken is cooked and seasoned to perfection. Parking is on the street and could be challenging, but it's well worth the effort. Neighborhood might be a little iffy at night, but just walk in small groups and you'll be fine.

late dinner - amazing chicken and veg

By Tanja T |

We found it after a late round of minigolf. We looked at it from the outside and thought it looked cool and inviting. We didn't get disappointed, the whole chicken with the different sauces was amazing. But the best thing was the mixed vegetables served in a little hot pan blew us away! So much that we ordered another portion. Friendly staff, highly recommended.

Great drinks and genuine food

By Arne B |

This is a true favorite in San Francisco. Place itself is quite simple, but the service is very friendly, and the Peruvian food is just great. A wide choice of ceviches and grilled meats, served with a variety of drinks. Superb sangria and margaritas (by the pitcher - keep them coming!)

Very good food

By Kevin D |

It had been a while since we ate at Limon. There were 4 of us dining. One person had never been. He was more then satisfied w / the food. Two of the dishes that stood out were the whole chicken & the shrimp & octopus civeche. I have had octopus 1 time before. It was good. But the octopus at Limon was much better. The chicken is always outstanding. We also ordered a paella dish. That was excellent as well. The staff are always helpful & attentive.

Tasty and fun

By Andrew F |

The atmosphere in this Tapas-style restaurant is a blend of casual and old world elegance. We ate steak and paella main courses that were good value and tasty. The chicken dishes look like their specialty. As always in Tapas places the small plates are small. But good.

Peruvian Fusion

By lavonnemy |

Came here with friends who live in the area. While I thought it might be totally Peruvian, it was not. However, the food was wonderful, especially the Pisco Sours! We had ceviche and tapas. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend reservations. We were there on a Tuesday night and it was packed.

Great buzz, great food, great find1

By DougalWestWales |

Had to return, our meal was a food adventure, never tasted Peruvian cooking but oh was the chicken tasty.... enjoyed the whole buzz of the place, couples, families, lovely. The Sangria was delicious and well priced, well...just go!

Came here by chance and loved it

By Vladimir_pr |

We were walking in the area and decided to dine and this place was recommended by locals - we came in and loved it: very friendly and fast service. Delicious Peruvian food, tasty and fresh sangria. The interior is not posh but nice.

Simply delicious!

By Bird |

Our very large group was well accommodated with a pre fixed dinner. Everything we had was delicious... the ceviche, sides and chicken. The sangria was refreshing and potent. Wait staff made us all feel welcome despite our many requests. The cost of our dinner was surprisingly low. The restaurant is no frills, no fuss, simple but efficient. we hung out at the bar after dinner. Bar tender was fun and entertaining. I look forward to dining there again.

Random selection of place to eat that turned out to be a gem

By Natalya A |

We were attending an event a couple of blocks away and wanted to have a light dinner locally. So, Limon was picked with no recommendations, just by glancing at the menu. Boy, we have been pleased big time! When Red snapper ceviche came in sashimi style arrangement sprinkled with the house marinade, we understood we are in the right place! "Lengua a la Parilla" - grilled beef tongue - was next. I love beef tongue. Not many places serve and often overcook it. Not here: tender than the best filet mignon, with a light smokey note from the grill, it was a delight for ... my tongue. Continued with "Puplo a la Parrilla" - grilled octopus". Yet another delight. And although usually ignored or hardly touched, mashed potatoes, that accompanied both dishes, have been almost inhaled. No tap beers but good selection of bottles. I had Lychee Chilcano. If not going back to the event, I would definitely get the second helping of it. Bottom line: if in the area, do bother to make a reservation (place became very busy after 6pm with a long wait line) and come here for a fast served, excellently cooked and presented meal.

Nice food nice place right price

By Pollett |

I come here to have a skirt steak, but unfortunately was taken off from the menu. Anyway I orders the Limon marinated NY strip. The food was good also the sweet fries and the bread pudding was amazing. The only thing was that the steak was little overcooked and it was kind strange cut for my strip. Anyway was juicy and tender. Recommended.

Very tasty

By Apu15 |

The food here is really good and well served. The chicken is well cooked and presented in very nice way. The empanadas are a bit pricey, but very well made. The cocktails are amazing!

Fantastic little restaurant

By Dawn N |

We popped in here while killing time before going to Urban Putt. We were only having drinks initially but having read the menu decided to eat too. There was a slight mix up with our order so my husband’s meal arrived about 20 mins before mine. My order had not gone through. The waitress did apologise & as the staff in there were so lovely & friendly I have still given them the full 5 stars. The cocktail I had was absolutely delicious. The food was great too & I would definitely return.

A hopping place!

By Sherman C |

Went there with a bunch of people from work. The food was good. Ordered the Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian style paella). It was good, but I should have ordered the pollo a la brasa (the rotisserie chicken), it looks pretty good and it smells pretty good too. A few of my coworkers ordered it and they said it's moist and tasty. Also, try their Pulpo a la Parilla (grilled octopus). It is tender and tasty

Two thumbs up

By Angelica R |

If you happen to be in the neighborhood, give it a try. I ordered the Maracuya Pisco and the tigre de leche cebiche and loved them. My husband devoured the arroz con mariscos.

The worst experience I’ve

By rafael n |

The Pollo ha la brasa was very dry and it was not fresh. It was re-heated. The chifa vegetables had zukini only and was over cooked. The waiter argue that we have to eat it anyways because we ordered. He said the customer complaint is old and does not applied anymore. On top of that after we paid. It appears &10 extra in our bill. What a waste of time and money. If you want to experience real Peruvian food! DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!

It's all about the chicken

By Steve G |

Their rotisserie chicken is the dish to get there I have a chicken for two people his plenty of food and it's a deal and delicious.

Flavorful variety of Peruvian dishes

By napergal |

My first taste of Peruvian, and I'm impressed! We had the chicken (highly recommended to us and glad we chose it!), sweet potato fries, and the truffle mac & cheese (to-die-for!). Casual atmosphere, lots of noisy conversation, but friendly, helpful staff, and great margaritas!

rotisserie chicken with a Peruvian kick

By kurtdismas1 |

chicken is fabulous. the ceviche is great, too. I have eaten in, taken out, and catered a new years eve party from here. the sangria is terrific, too.

Delightful lunch with my husband

By Bruce B |

How can we say no to rotisserie chicken with its own special sauce and 2 sides for $19.00. Good deal.

Ah-maze-zing!

By MTmaven |

This place was incredible. The vibe is strong and the music is loud but regardless whether you like that or not the food was incredible. Every single thing we ordered from Octopus to empanadas to yuca fries was off the chart. We ordered one of everything on the dessert menu and I can safely say that they're all excellent but if you have to choose one - go with the bread pudding. Or the tres leches. Oh just order both! And don't skip the beet salad either. That's incredible.

Squealing dinner

By Dan B |

Great Peruvian food. High pitched almost constant sound that we were told was coming from one of the pieces of equipment in open kitchen. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do about it". Really? You can't replace it or fix it. Throughout our dinner a recurring high pitched sound. Not going back until we're told it's fixed. Going to miss the chicken and Chicarrones.

The $29 also came with two generous portions of sides, which we got some veggies and the perfectly blended Tacu Tacu of rice and beans. This is enough food for 2 people, or 4 children, or 4 anorexic models. We also got the carne empenadas($11 for 3), very tasty and unique. The place gets busy on weekends, so make a reservation on that Yelp App. Its a loud restaurant, and its even painfully louder downstairs, but luckily the friendly manager was able to put is in a quieter section. No leftovers. Yes, the wife and I were in a food coma afterwards. Yes, I will definitely be eating this chicken again on my next San Fran trip. Peruvians...thank you for inventing Peruvian food!

Moderate All the Way

By NORNORKEN |

Dinner was mostly good. Not pricey. Having had plenty of Peruvian food in Peru leaves me a bit more judgmental. Sides tasty (especially green beans), but chicken a bit tough, dry. Seafood dish nice. Not exciting overall. Other choices might have been better. Might try again—maybe.

Place you cant forget

One of My Favorite Restaurants

By Jose J |

We have been to Limon many times and we love it. We’ve never had a dish that we didn’t like. The food is delicious and the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend it!

Amazing food and excellent service!

By Heather H |

Lovely gem in the Mission District! We had an early dinner with our teenagers and my husband had Pescado a lo macho which he's not stopped raving about since! All of our food was superb but the highlight for me was the dessert. We tried the chocolate lava cake, tres leches, and a smooth flan-like dessert with mango sauce. To top it all off, the service was warm, informative, and friendly. Highly recommend Limon!

Delicious!

By Millich1957 |

We had several of the small plates and loved everyone of them. When you go, be sure you try the seafood small plate as well as the green beans. Heaven!

Loud but yummie

Extremely loud, but good atmosphere and really good food! Portions are huge as anywhere in the states but the quality is really good. We had the trio of ceviche, which extremely fresh and tasteful. Al the aroz de marisco, a paella type of dish and of course the roasted chicken. Make sure to book in advance, it gets very busy,

Great Food ! & service

By Katheryne D |

Limon is one of my favorite peruvian restaurants to visit , their ceviche is really good , el pollo a la brasa con arronz y yuca ban muy bien juntos , the service is great ! the server is always looking up to you if you need anything else . highly recommended😁

Unique

By phyrman21 |

Unique to me at least. Visited here for a little something different and because it looked so good. It was. Definitely delicious. With a group of 4 and we all shared and sampled each others different dishes. Spendy, but also very tasty. Nice ambiance. Convenient setting.

Great Peruvian chicken

By rbradb |

This is a surprisingly large restaurant where the emphasis, deservedly, is on their excellent Peruvian roast chicken. A great place for couples or families and very fairly priced. The ceviches are recommended of appetizers

Must go

By Andrew H |

Peruvian roast chicken is seriously good. But dont stop there, the side dishes are a treat too. Also ask for the specials, had the salmon pasta which was special for the day, Its just injustice not to try their dishes there

Super food exoerience

By Gloria E |

Wow, I was in empanada heaven. I ordered the Pollo Empanada with chicken and cheese and the dough was so light and tasty. We also had the tuna ceviche that was delicious as an appetizer. My son ordered this steak dish with rice and vegetables. We enjoyed all of our food including the Yucca fries. The server was exceptional and helped us choose certain entrees. Nice bar items with good sangria and cocktails. We will return.

If you have a large group, AVOID IT!

By Douek |

We came to this place in a group of 20 people. The restaurant gave us a fixed menu with 3 option and ask us to chose only one of the options, which would be served to everyone on the table. This is insane. Never see anything like that. They really think there will be a consensus on a table of 20???

Not much veg options

By mahakag21 |

I came here for team lunch. Being a vegetarian, I found very few options on the menu for vegetarians. Some of my teammates do not like Mushrooms so they were left with even fewer choices. I went for Tacu Tacu and a mushroom hot plate, which were not so great. Empanadas were awesome but the serving was too small. This may be a great place for chicken lovers but definitely not for me !

Awesome food, u need to go there!

By docfish7 |

We had a blast! The food was awesome, well prepared and tasty! U need to reserve a table, very crowded! Enjoy!

Friendly service and tasty food

By BERWOLF |

We had a very enjoyable meal: we were seven, had the yucca bites and ceviche appetizers. Then the “ rice and seafood” Dish: a bit spicy. The tres leches desert was nice. Service fast and friendly.

Delicious flavours

By 326barbs |

Met a few friends for lunch and shared plates of quinoa salad, beef empanada, dark quarter with yucca and string beans, loom saltado and tres leches cake for dessert. The quinoa salad contained very fresh salad greens and really just a sprinkle of quinoa. The loma saltado was flavorful. The empanada was very flaky, not much meat inside. I enjoyed the dark quarter chicken. The serving of yucca was 3 fries, not much. The string beans were tasty. The highlight of the meal was the dessert; sponge cake soaked in a sweet milk with fresh fruit. I would go again although I think the servings could be more hearty.

Very noisy, close quarters

By sjansenavon |

Ok dinner. Others in my group loved their dinners, mine was so-so. Chicken was a bit dry, appetizer was good. It’s extremely close quarters with other diners, and very noisy place, we sat close to the exposed kitchen area so we got a lot of noise. Not for a comfortable dining experience.

Perfect dinner in the Mission district

By flip007 |

Limon Rotisserie explains why everyone is crazy about Peruvian cuisine: great drinks and amazing food, served in an eclectic location. We recommend the Lomo Saltado and the octopus.

Mixed review

By Howard S |

Limon is a pleasant spot with nice service. Our waiter suggested a cocktail which after tasting neither of us could stand the taste of. We sent it back. We shared the house special cerviche which featured in addition to the regular cerviche, two whole tiny bay scallops. The plate was pleasant tasting, but the sauce was overbearing. A few hours after eating their cerviche, my stomach started to hurt and churn. A couple of tums helped, but did not settle my stomach. My partner fared worse and became violently ill.

Delicious

By JaynieC |

We chose this place while walking the Mission District looking for a restaurant. Boy did we get lucky. My brother had the mixed ceviche, my dad had mixed fried seafood small plate, and I had the fish of the day. Not only was the food beautifully presented, it was delicious! To boot, it was reasonably priced. Would highly recommend whether you go for the chicken, which also looked awesome, or one of the other menu items.

Excellent option on Valencia

By FairallBaltimore |

Great food, service reasonably priced - highly recommend. The drink menu was outstanding as well. We visited twice during a 3 day trip last month.

Excellent but noisy

By Michael M |

Peruvian cuisine is a favorite and this restaurant did not disappoint. From the pisco sours and ceviche (we did the three types) through to the lomo saltado, everything was delicious. Two complaints: the restaurant is very noisy; we practically had to shout, and the wine list is terrible. No Chilean wines in a Peruvian restaurant? Crazy!

Looking for a small dinner?

By Jim M |

We had had a late lunch so we were looking for an option that would let us get a smaller meal and Limon was perfect. High energy on a Sunday night, good service, and an interesting selection of small plates.

Best chicken ever

By DrDadrwp |

My wife and I ate there with our son and daughter-in-law. They had brunch specials, which they declared "delicious." My wife and I had the quarter rotisserie chicken, white meat. It was tender and juicy and the skin is worth fighting for with its spicy goodness. The fries are excellent, the salad tasty and the beans a rice delicious. This is a must try restaurant!

Excellent chicken!

By Lyn w |

I had lunch here and the good was of a high quality, with a great variety if sauces including fresh chimmi churri and a hot chilli sauce. The chicken was delicious and was so perfectly cooked it fell off the bone. Washed down with a fine Californian Sauvignon Blanc made for a great lunch time dining experience. The service was also first class.

Modern Peruvian cuisine

By Charet G |

A friend brought us to this restaurant and we were glad to experience this modern Peruvian restaurant. Make a reservation as it is a popular place. The staff are friendly and efficient. We had the tuna for appetiser and we were really happy of the choice, loved the yuca, but the paella was too salty.

Good food but the rest needs tuning

By Drastic |

The menu is limited, but what they offer tastes excellent and prices are fair. The restaurant is small, very noisy (i.e. not designed to dampen the racket of many people talking), and service is only average. We arrived for an early dinner and the waitress rushed us from start to finish. Not quite fine dining, not quite fast food either, they need to figure it out.

Delicious; Piscos a must

By Marius M |

We had the ceviche which was delicious and the lemon roast chicken, which is sensational. Also; you cannot miss the Pisco sours, the best I've had!

Great Peruvian food

By Silvita |

The simple place offers a small variety of Peruvian food, from ceviche to tacu tacu. The leche de tigre cup with fish was really nice and spicy. The yuca with aji was really delicious. the tres leches cake was a little on the dry side, but good. Service was attentive, prices acceptable.

Alright restaurant

By Michelle J |

Service was great. Portions are small. We got the seafood paella (not good, barely any seafood) and the chicken. Best part was the sides we got- the string beans and the sweet potato fries.

Succulent chicken

By Chinthurst18 |

Recommended by our hotel as a good place to eat nearby, this popular restaurant serves easy food. Well worth a visit!

Excellent Roast Chicken

By Ono O |

I came here due to the excellent reviews about their roast chicken, and I was disappointed. The bird was cooked to perfection with crispy skin and very moist meat. Nice spices, but not 'hot'. The entree came with a selection of two sides. I selected a salad (marginal) and roast vegetables (good). Other choices included french fries and other carb-loaded treats. I also tried the ceviche sampler of three different offerings. all of the different ceviches were really good and authentic, and reminded me of the ones I had in Peru. Minus a star for the lack of parking. I could not find a metered spot on the street, so had to fork out $$ at a parking garage a block away.

Favorite

By Gigi |

I have a group of friends whenever there is a birthday to celebrate. This is where we go either the Limon in Valencia Street or this Limon at South Van Ness. But I prefer this Limon for it is more laid back and a little quiter than the other. Usual orders are Tuna Tartare (an excellent choice), Ceviche mixto, yuca fries, pulpo a la parilla (octopus a favorite), chicharron de pollo, Arroz Con Mariscos (Peruvian paella) and a pitcher of sangria for sure. End it with panna cota and warm chocolate cake. Best to share so you can try as many dishes as you want.

Great Peruvian Food

By AlsatianJim |

They serve great food and were very close to our B & B. Wish they were open later than 10pm, though.

Delicious food

By Kristi B |

I came here with a group of about 15. Two of us were vegetarian. Our workshop leader started us off with sangria. What was great: The sangria The two types of salads I had The marinated mushrooms and onions that the other vegetarian ordered and gave me half. The empanadas, freshly made with potatoes and peas, I could have eaten three more. What could have been better: We were seated upstairs and it felt super noisy and it was challenging to hold a conversation. Although as a big eater, I left feeling satiated but I was super grateful the other vegetarian ordered that plate of mushrooms and onions. I wish dessert was included in the prix fixed option. I would go back for a glass of sangria and it is a place my omnivore family would like.

Peruvian on Valencia

By Sharlene L |

We decided to explore the Mission District and arrived about noon just as this restaurant was opening. We were the only ones there for a while, but we were very impressed with the service. The waiter helpe us pick out some items and the beet salad was just outstanding along with the paella and empanadas. We didn't try the rotisseries, but heard it was great. Very clean place and the dining room opens into the kitchen so you can see your food being made.

Yummy

Food is very very good but seating is not so comfortable. Parking is not too bad but need to walk a short distance in so so neighborhood.

Wine Lovers Just Forget it!

By mauigold |

Wine Lovers Just Forget it! Take your wine some place else!!! Celebrating my daughter’s 30 birthday. We called ahead (from San Jose) to check the corkage fee. We were told $15 a bottle. We took 2 bottles of Champagne (80. & 100. A bottle), 2 bottles of sparkling wine ($25.00 a bottle), three bottles of Cab ($45-50 a bottle) and a Chardonnay from our wine locker for the celebration. Upon arrive we were advised that the corkage FOR THE FIRST TWO BOTTLES WAS $15, $25 for anything over that!! We had 7 bottles! The manager refused to honor the $15.00 corkage quote! I would not have taken our wine all the way there if they were going to charge me $25 to open a $25-45-50 bottle of wine!! There is a big difference between. $15 versus a $25 corkage fee on which wine you bring and the food/ place you are serving it! We had 8 people and spent over $550.00 for dinner and they still refused to budge on the wine! We purchased a round of cocktails when we first arrived (before the corkage news) so we spent money on the bar! If your staff makes a mistake (which you didn’t deny happened) then do the right thing and stand behind their mistake to the benefit of your guests.., especially where it’s something like a corkage fee which isn’t requiring you to lose money you already spent.,

Fabulous pisco sour and Peruvian food

By Casanovawinner19 |

We had lunch by chance at the Rotisserie, searching for an adequate late lunch place with our kids. This place was a lucky find, not only did they prepare an amazing pisco sour, but furthermore had a fresh Ceviche selection and great roasted chicken. Service was attentive and charming, food of an outstanding quality and finally great value for money. Our cheapest bill ever. Highly recommendable!

Outstanding Peruvian food

By Meredith A |

This busy, noisy, bustling, restaurant was one of the best meals I had on my California trip! You may have to shout to be heard - and definitely book in advance, it was packed on a Wednesday - but it's totally worth it for delicious Peruvian food! Oh, the tartara de tuna. One of the most glorious seafood dishes ever! The delicious, crispy empanadas (we had the one with sirloin, onions, egg, olives, raisins) were such a great blend of flavors, every bite was wonderful. Then my husband and I shared a juicy half chicken, which I ravenously dipped in the wonderful chimichurri sauce, while munching on fresh grilled vegetables and crispy yucca fries. The Tres Leches cake was an absolutely gorgeous finale, though we shared it between four of us, we were so full. Service was a little slow, but the food was so good, I was happy to linger over it. Would come back here anytime I'm in San Francisco!

Great selection

By madbuss |

Went here with work colleagues. Tried some different ceviche dishes, my favourite was the tuna. All were tasty. For the mains I had the paella which was also good. Good gluten free options.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

By Mauro1990 |

This restaurant was loud and full of customers enjoying their meals and time together. Please make reservations as we did and you will be seated within minutes. We had a large group of 8, celebrating our daughters 29th Birthday!!! We were seated at table 10A and Francisco G. was our server. We ordered a variety of dishes from empanadas, yuca fries, etc…. All the dishes were cooked to perfection. The dishes ( 14 of them to be exact) came within minutes from each other and Francisco and his team mates were on top of it, making sure our drinks, pitchers of margaritas to sours were served properly along with our meals. Thank you to the CASTILLO BROTHERS and their TEAM for making our daughters birthday, surrounded by friends and family, A VERY SPECIAL TIME TOGETHER enjoying traditional Peruvian cuisine.❤️❤️❤️

Peruvian Rotisserie - Expecting More...

By Monica L |

Base on all the reviews, I was expecting more. We didn't make a reservation therefore not expected to get seated immediately. However, the hostess offered us a tall table by the entrance to the kitchen. With all the hustle and bustle, we decided to give up the table for something less noisy instead we ended up at the bar. Clearly, there were many tables available yet they chose to place us at the bar where there were non ending commotions since this was the area to do take out orders as well. Anyway, placing a order at the bar was a pain since there were no one assigned to the area. We waited for quite a while before putting in our orders. On to the food - I really believe this could be better done. Being a foodie, I know I can be quite critical but the quarter chicken dark meat was clearly overcooked therefore it was dry and stringy. As well, it lacked flavor even doused with the sauces served on the side. The two sides I ordered were nothing special (arroz and salteado veggies). This could be a very trendy spot but I find the management needed to pay attention to details. I will give this place a skip next time I'm in the area.

Ceviche, Empanadas, and Aji Amarillo

By Dave P |

All of the food was very good, Ceviche Classico was excellent, as were the beef empanadas and cheese empanadas, highly recommend the pisco sour and Chilcanos for drinks.

Fun and exciting food to share; interesting seasonings and preparations

By Sharon A |

We were a party of six having Peruvian food for the first time. All were looking forward to new food experiences and hopeful that the restaurant would deliver. We were somewhat skeptical because it is a (small) chain restaurant and we were hopeful that it would not be based on recipes to please all palates. Well, we all happily surprised. The preparations, combination of ingredients, and flavors produced six happy (and full) diners. We ordered a variety of dishes to try as much as possible and we only had a couple of pieces of chicken and about a cup of the Arroz left over to take home for one lucky person's lunch. Octopus was one of the dishes we were all looking forward so two were ordered; the preparation and seasoning were so delicious. Also had the Jalea (fried calamari, sole & shrimp), Chicharon a la Parilla (marinated and fried chicken, which reminded us of Japanese Chicken Karaage), Tartare de Tuna (poke) , Lomo Saltado (sautéed beef with fries), Carne a la Parrilla (Rib Eye steak with the same sauce served with the fried chicken), 1/2 Rotisserie Chicen with the Tacu Tacu (side dish of sautéed rice and beans), and the Arroz con Marisco.(seafood paella). Not only were the main ingredients on the plate well seasoned but their accompaniments were perfectly selected and prepared.. A lot of food, but so good that we managed to eat almost it all. AND, we ordered three different desserts. Again, a great surprise because the quality of these sweet endings were all nicely done. We had the Mango Panna Cotta, the Chocolate Bandido (flourless chocolate cake) and the Tres Leches cake. All three were gone in seconds; even after that large meal. All six of us have said that we would definitely return. At the South Van Ness location, seating on the first floor is limited, so we were downstairs (sound reverberates and was noisy, however there is a full bar with a large screen TV so it was also a fun environment). Initially we were placed at a very, very small table which did seat 6, but would definitely not hold the food plates that we were anticipating. Because we were there at 6pm and the room was not full, we asked and were moved to another larger 6-place table. Don't think that our experience would have been as enjoyable if we would have remained at the junior table. Highly recommend this restaurant as an entry into Peruvian food; assuming that the prep was authentic; but if not, still definitely tasty and enjoyable. We had a wide variety of good food with desserts, and no alcohol; for about $50 including tax, fees and tip.

Good food in a bustling ambiance

By corkpop |

Hopping place for Peruvian plates, spicy and hot copiously washed down with beers margaritas or Piscoe sours. Great gateway into this country’s cuisine which is imposing its gastronomic presence in a rapid way. Great service in a fun atmosphere.

Waw is the Restaurant !!!!!!!

By rcavazosh |

Is an EXCELLENT Restaurant the food is very very very good, the service is pretty good but the food is awesome, tray the Leche de Tigre, the chicken, the ceviche (fish and shrimp),I'll have this restaurant in my city is one of my favorite in all the USA.

Nice place for a fun dinner with friends

By StevenG615 |

Gathered here with my wife and two old friends on a Saturday evening, to celebrate one of their birthdays. We had a reservation and were seated pretty quickly. I had heard that downstairs (basement level) can be kind of loud, so I was glad we were seated upstairs, where it was plenty lively and loud, but not so much that you couldn't hear your friends at your table. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, and took our drink order right away. I had the Boo Koo IPA, which came in a can and was quite good. Others had cocktails, which they enjoyed. My wife and I spit the half rotisserie chicken (cut into 4 pieces), and got it with salad and wok fried green beans. All was very tasty, We also got a couple of orders of large taro chips, which are good with the spicy dipping sauce they serve them with. For dessert we had some kind of chocolate truffle cakes with ice cream, served with a candle while a number of staff gathered to sing Happy Birthday. It was nice that a number of them all gathered to sing with gusto. Fun place for a gathering with good food and drinks. Prices are not "cheap", but also not bad by San Francisco standards.

Empanadas

By Jason M |

Terrific chicken but we loved the empanadas. Son had the fried shrimp and calamari, which led to a geography lesson about Peru being a coastal country. Fun and tasty dinner that would have been perfect had the server not had an attitude because it was after 10 and we wanted food not booze

A memorable Peruivan experience

By Alan G |

Limon Rotisserie in San Francisco has three locations, but we chose their restaurant on Van Ness Avenue. After walking around the Mission Neighborhood and viewing the street murals we headed for Limon. If you've never experienced Peruvian cuisine try this much acclaimed restaurant. The atmosphere is colorful, the food creative and the selection of Peruvian dishes is extensive. For lunch I opted for "Lomito" Saltado , a traditional Peruvian dish of stir-fried sirloin strips, onions, tomato, soy sauce and french fries, accompanied by Sangria. For desert--Flan-- is not to be missed. If you are looking for something a little different in food, Limon is a must.

Girls’ night out

By Jessica V |

You definitely need a reservation, cause it’s so good it gets crowded pretty fast. I had the lomo salteado and the sangria. It was amazing. The beef super soft and tasty; I didn’t even share anything with my friends!

Excellent gourmet Peruvian food

By eafalendysz |

Let me start by saying that Lima has one of the best cuisines in the world, so if you have not tried Peruvian food, do try it! Limon was an excellent version of my Limeno favorites, in a fun hip San Francisco neighborhood. We had pollo al la brasa (rotisserie chicken) and pulpo a la parilla (grilled octopus). Both were delicious, gourmet versions of these Peruvian classics. I would definitely recommend this place to those visiting the mission!

Fantastic chicken

By Rufus123 |

Limon's rotisserie chicken is the best! Very moist with great flavor! We ordered the whole chicken with 3 sides, and were very satisfied! Yuca fries were excellent. We will be back.

Authentic Peruvian food, high noise level

By Jonas M |

For lovers of Peruvian food is this the place to be! Everything tasty from pisco, ceviche to lomos saltado. Noise level can be very high depending on the seat.

Great Peruvian food in SFO

By Michele P |

The best ceviche and amazing empanadas and octopus. Highly recommended for a special dinner in San Francisco.

Nothing special

By SG |

Very noisy downstairs, service slow and indifferent. Chicken ok, but really nothing special. Overall pretty average.

Too little food and expensive!

By Eduberega |

Great food! Ceviche to die for. BUT expensive! AND too little food. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Don't go too hungry.

Best ceviche I've had

By dorkage |

The salad and ceviche was soooo good. This place was recommended by a business contact. I definitely will go back.

Delicious modern Peruvian

By Michele M |

Maybe not the most authentic (as others have noted), but definitely delicious nonetheless. Also, this is a great place to take people who are picky eaters. The menu consists of relative basic items (like rotisserie chicken) but taken to the next level. Worth making a reservation or if you are walking in, go on the early side. This place is very busy on weekend evenings.

A great night

By Gordon D |

Our first night in San Francisco and lucky enough to book a table for the four of us. Although we sat downstairs the atmosphere was of people enjoying themselves. Started of with ceviche which is my favourite way to begin a meal and I was not disappointed with my choice. Two of us had the rotisserie chicken which was moist and flavoursome while the other two chose the lamb chops which they thoroughly enjoyed. One bottle of Sauvignon and one of Shiraz made for a great evening. A great way to begin our four days in San Francisco,if in the Mission district you should go.

One of my favorites

By Lisa M |

Limon is one of my favorite places for many reasons. The food is amazing- I love taking my friends and family -even clients to this restaurant. There are so many favorite dishes- the ceviche mosto, truffle mac and cheese and veggie empanadas are just a few. The Sangria and drinks are at the top of the list too. I visited 2 locations last week- one for a client meeting and the other for a birthday party.

Food is good but service needs improving

By SSandy777 |

We had a selection of dishes to share which were nice. However, l wouldn't really call it Peruvian. The service wasn't great though. The waiter seemed quite disinterested and we had to ask for things twice.

Delicious Food

By pochlm |

Very good food at a great price. Get the sweet potato fries- they literally melt in your mouth. Highly recommend!

Awesome Food one Caveat

By Jose C |

Love the food, considering the bill was about $250 I was a bit out off when the staff informed us of another reservation and that we would need to leave shortly. Maybe this is the standard in San Fran, but I've never seen this remark made. Considering we were nothing shy of generous with the tip and we're ordering food and drinks constantly, I see this being shortsighted to say the least. Our friends had 3 babies and to rush them out the door feels like they were shaming us and not very friendly.

Perfect Roasted Chicken!

By Richard H |

This is Peruvian restaurant is one of our most recent discoveries in San Franciso. Fantastic service and restaurant. Like most locations in SF, parking is an adventure. The food is more than fantastic. I am still thinking about the rotisserie chicken--moist, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Lots of other good food options and sides. You cannot find a better chicken dinner.

Dinner at S. Van Ness - yummy

By Beth D |

The front desk clerk at our B&B suggested it, as it was half a block away on South Van Ness Ave. and we had evening plans and needed to eat quickly. I have never had Peruvian food, so I can't say how it compares that way, but it was delicious. Our server Gerardo answered our many questions very professionally. It seemed that he loved working there. We shared an order of the special "Tallarines Verdes Con Carne". It was delicious steak with pesto pasta. Then we had bread pudding, which was the best I've ever had. Our bill was under $40. If we had been starving, we would have each had an order, but it was filling. The wait staff was very attentive and the restaurant was very clean.

peruvian heaven on a plate

By ahmad d |

A Peruvian delight that was well worth the visit, even though it was busy and there was a waiting time we were well taken care of by the proprietor and soon seated, there was a wonderful atmosphere the service was good and i loved every dish i had the only down side was i visited this place on my last night before heading back to England.i would love to return though i would definately recommend in booking in advance... Thank you for a lovely evening

What a gem....fabulous food!

By Trevor |

Whilst ambling around the Mission District, soaking up the atmosphere we stumbled across this little gem. The ‘meet and greet’ was warm and welcoming and the guidance through the menu was much appreciated and very helpful, eventually we choose Limon Loco Wrap and we were not disappointed. Great experience. If it wasn’t so far from home we would definitely call again.

Visit the bar downstairs!

By JoannaMelhado |

Totally worth going downstairs! There's a bar with great drinks and food service. If you want a latin american meal, I recommend the peruvian ceviche; small but delightful taste. A bit pricey but you are in SF so nothing's cheap out there. I highly recommend going with your friends on a weeknight or weekend! It's super fun, great mood, and a great bar to hang out at!

Great, Great Peruvian Cuisine

By JetGypsy_11 |

Celebrated my Wife's Birthday with our kids and their SO's and had a great time and enjoyed the food immensely. We arrived about 15 mins early and spent some time at the bar and enjoyed Passion Fruit Pisco Sours while we waited for the rest of our party. The drinks where awesome and I tried the Chicha Morada, a soft drink made from purple corn juice. I really like it and recommend it straight or with Pisco. For starters we tried the Ceviche Mixto and all the Empanada varieties. To me the chicken where the best but the beef where great too. We have tried Empanada all over Latin America and these where some of the best we have had. We ordered Yuca Frita as well and it came out perfect. The house specialty is Rotisserie Chicken and it is a must. Great chicken is one on my favorite things and Limon made it great. The seasoning was not too salty and the spices where not too much either. Every piece looked like it was cooked enough and not over done which is one of the things I like about rotisserie in the first place. We ordered 1.5 chickens for 6 people which was a little too much. There are a great verity or hot and cold small plates and we tried a bunch of different things. The Lomito and Jelea where both fantastic and we enjoyed the Tacu-Tacu. One note, the service was a little off. Having never been there before, I will not get too worked up but they sure wanted us out the door as fast as they could. It was kind of weird since there where empty tables and it was after 9:00 but they acted like they really needed the table. My Wife was very happy with everything and that was the goal in the first place. The food was excellent and even though the service was kind of goofy we will be back and I am giving Limon 5/5.

Good chicken, good fun

By Jonathan B |

This is a fun neighborhood place with delicious food and a lively atmosphere. We had tigre de leche ceviche, roast chicken, lomo salteado, and mango lemonade, all of which were yum. Recommended.

If By Yourself, They Will Forget About You

By eduardocali |

I recently visited San Francisco and gave this place a try. The surrounding area doesn't seem that great. I thought by now all the techies would've gentrified every impoverished area of San Francisco. I was quickly allowed to sit down. The place doesn't seem very big at all. They would probably benefit from it being a bigger place since some people were standing. When I sat down, I realized the sun would be hitting me directly in the face so I moved. I ordered a Lomo Saltado meal. The food tasted good, but the portion was on the smaller side. They brought me my Mexican Coke, but I never got a straw. The people sitting next to me seemed to be getting plenty of help, whereas I was basically ignored. I also had to deal with the waiters constantly brushing past me and some placing their rear ends right next to me. Then I asked for some hot sauce, and they billed me $1.50 for it. I know it's San Francisco and they need to find a way to milk the customer as much as they could, but a condiment should be free. Overall the food was good but small. The service could be improved.

Chicken and Octoput Nicely Done

By dlim38 |

Food is good at Limon Rotisserie. Octopus was tender and grilled to perfection. Rotisserie chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend these two dishes. I was disappointed in the Sangria. The sangria did not taste fruity and not enough time was allowed for the fruit flavors to permeate through the wine. Restaurant is noisy during dinner and people had to speak up to be heard.

Normal

By Lorenzo V |

Food normal. Chicken is roasted, good taste, but nothing to highlight. Normal ceviches, I don't understand why people talk so good about this place, nothing to say, except for the horrible noise! music too loud! It's not a restaurant, I believe thats a bar.

$27 for rotisserie chicken?!

By 74Lia |

Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely delicious, but $27 for a rotisserie chicken it's way to much. If the budget is not an issue for you, well, go for it. I really enjoy the meal. We had the chicken with chimichurri sauce, yuca fritters, tuku tuku ( rice and beans) and we also had the polli papa and the empanadas for appetizer. The three of us, had all that and we're not heavy eaters. All the portions were very small for the price. There were still space for desert but I didn't want to pay $10 for desert. I really liked the place, and the food but too pricey for such simple meal.

Dinner for 4 mid-week (!)

By ArikP |

Always make reservations in advance. The place is small and packed. Very good food and fast service. Even what they call small plates are actually quite filling. The food is well made and delicious and is really meant for sharing - which you should do. It is also not what I think of as pricey as some other reviewers noted. We spent about $120 for a group of 4 including a pitcher of very nice red Sangria. The place is small, tables are very close to each other and the space is noisy so I don't think it is suitable for groups larger than about 6. That is the reason for a 4 and a 5.

Unique taste

This is my first time eat Persian food. It's unique. We are lucky not in long queing because usually this place have a long queing. The shrimp is fresh and the waiters is very helpful and friendly.

Reckonin' on Rotisserie Chicken

By Dessertarian44 |

This popular local restaurant known for their rotisserie chicken fills up rapidly. It is family friendly and the food is very good. The portions are generous and the sides that come with the chicken are very tasty, especially the melange of sauteed vegetables. The chicken is flavorful but the white meat quarter can be a bit dry. However, it would not preclude me from ordering it again. For dessert, the panna cotta with mango sauce is the best panna cotta I've ever had, including ones in Italy. While noisy, it did not hinder conversation. The service was attentive and prompt.

Terrible

By Nick |

The food was terrible. The yuka fries weren't soft. I ordered "Pulpo a la Parilla" - "Grilled Octopus". It was extremely salty. The fries on the side weren't fresh and were very greasy. I only liked the cocktail - Traditional Chilicano as it was prepared well. Definitely will not come back.

Pricy but tasty

We ordered for takeout and enjoyed chicken, ceviche, vegetables, and truffle mac and cheese. The food was tasty but prices were high.

Lovely rotisserie chicken

By TPWEsq |

We ordered a whole chicken (which comes with the two sides - recommend the chilfa green bee a) and the cerviche mixte to share between two which was the perfect amount. The chicken was so flavoursome and we both really enjoyed it. The cerviche was okay but nothing outstanding. The two mains plus 3 beers came to about $75 excluding tip.

Great food, great looking staff.

It is a Peruvian place. And it is amazing. We just had appetizers, but it was the best food ever. We also had a pitcher of sangria. Oh and this man bought me another pitcher, it was hilarious.

Excellent food at reasonable prices in the neighborhood

By nesitachiquita |

Great Peruvian food for the novice or experienced gourmet, as well as for the native Peruvian. The specialty is the rotisserie chicken which can be seen cooking on the spit in the restaurant. The atmosphere is neighborly and welcoming to a party of 1 or to a couple, as well as to a family and/or large group. The small bar also offers seating and one can often catch a soccer match on screen. One of my favorite places to eat in San Francisco!

Smallish portions...

By Helmut |

I had to come back for a good ceviche and it did not disappoint. However, the octopus dish was rather modest in size for the price. On the flip side, the bread pudding was delicious. Just don't claim it comes with gelato when it is simple vanilla ice cream... Service was average, the prices high. For example, $2 for a side of sauce to dip the fried yucca in. Really? Will seek other ceviche sources next time.

Oh so delicious - get the chicken

By Aaron A |

They specialize in Peruvian cuisine, which is more diverse than you think. From veggies to protein, there's plenty of options for everyone. The food is fresh, flavorful and oh-so-tasty. We started with the chips, and then a half chicken, with green beans and rice. Added the spicy sauce - the combination was lick-the-plate good. Highly recommended, great service to boot.

Great Food Great atmosphere

Loved this place although on the night we were there the air con was broken and the place got a bit stuffy. Awesome ceviche's, really good food and great service.

Sunday dinner

By Dream10605024676 |

We had made an reservation from Sweden and took a cab from the hotel. The food was great. We had an empanada to share (2 people) and a main course (quarter of a chicken) each. It was great. But, at 9.30 pm (our reservation was at 8.30 pm) the staff started cleaning the kitchen with a strong clearing detergent that smelled A LOT. Not so very nice smell when we were still eating. They also started to collecting all the chairs and so on, it felt like the wanted us to leave, came with the bill even though we hadn’t asked for it yet. But the worse was the smell from the detergent. So, we recommend this place if you have an early reservation.

Mindblowing ceviche and carne a la parilla

By Federico P |

If you think you had Peruvian food in the US, think again and come here (or of course, go to Peru!).The ceviche mixto, the pollo empanadas and the carne a la parilla are delicious! Each dish is well presented and the chef takes his time to prepare the food, which is always a good sign!

Gourmet Fare in SFO Terminal 3

By Angela3950 |

Had a couple hour layover in SFO between Tucson and home so I wandered the food court in search of something warm and comforting. Settled on Limón Rotisserie (Peruvian fare) cause empanadas would perfectly hit the spot. Pretty reasonable pricing-three good sized empanadas for $9.95. They had meat & veggie options so I opted for one of each. I waited a bit as they were cooked as people ordered, not pre-cooked and reheated. WORTH the wait-Whoa!!! They were so good, hot and flavorful paired with the mustard-like dipping sauce. It SO hit the spot. If you like spicy mixtures wrapped in flaky pastry, this is a must try! You won’t be disappointed.

Very nice experience

We ate here with our two children. Started off with crispy chicken and shrimp and octopus chiveche . Both were OUTSTANDING. The empanadas are some of the best we had and the drinks are inovative

Excellent

We stumbled upon this place whilst trying to find somewhere for dinner one evening it was fantastic, amazing food & cocktails. Please open one in Houston! Only thing was it was so loud we could barely talk, but that was mainly a couple of larger tables shouting & laughing loudly etc. Another couple complained & the staff turned the music down which helped but it was still pretty noisy.

Will Go To Again...Thank You Open Table

By KnickerbockerJones |

This restaurant was absolutely delicious. My husband and I started out with the ceviche mixto. Peru has one of the best ceviches in the world and I have tried many from different countries. We followed that with a chicharron de pollo; again it was delicious. My husband ordered the cheese empanadas. He loved them. I found them a little too cheesy. I then ordered octopus over potatoes. I must say that was the weakest dish we had but it was still delicious. Every dish was so packed with flavour that it made the octupus dish hard to compete. For desert we had a panacotta de mango. Again delicious. I had a maracuya sour. That is a passion fruit drink and again wow.

Solid meal

Ceviche trio was very delicious. Enjoyed the empanadas. The rotisserie chicken and yucca fries were good. Tres leches was good as well.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. SMALL & SMELLY & DIRTY (btw, I'm Peruvian and I don't think you should go)

By George A |

I went with my family (we're all Hispanics. I'm Peruvian). The place is tiny, and uncomfortable to walk between tables. Incredibly smelly. The bathroom is dirty. I made a reservation for 4 pm; they said I had to wait another 50 minutes. They asked if we wanted a table outside--even though it was cold and windy, we accepted. The table was dirty with stains of sauces and cigarette butts. The waiter came out 15 minutes later to try to clean all the dirt. The table was still dirty, yet the waiter returned to ask us to order. We walked out.

Nice dinner in SF

By quangfremont |

This location is not exactly desirable and the table is small for our family. Aside from that, food is good, especially the rotisserie chicken which is very savory and delicious. The beef tongue and ceviche are good as well. Peruvian food is a new experience for us and we really enjoyed it.
