A little slice of Bavaria in down town New York with great draft beer and a menu hybrid of German American food. A bit expensive for the area, and you may want to check the order placed is the order delivered but overall a venue of quality.

Great find. Loreley is a great bar and restaurant which has a heavy nod to the bierkeller heritage of the area without being a gimmick. Bar staff are great ( particularly David - thank you) and there is a great patio out the back. Great happy hour with steins at dangerously low prices!

it would be great if it wasn't packed with a bunch of tourists.

Loreley has lots of events, although many of those are at their Williamsburg location. I have attended a tasting dinner at the Manhattan location, and they almost had to wheel me out on a cart - so many courses of such good German beer, with pairings of German sausages and sauerkraut and such.

another great beer hall. chicken paprikash is good, as are the potato pancakes. basic and spot-on.

I visited Loreley just about two weeks ago. I must say definitely enjoyed it! Great selection of German beers, but they also serve liquor and bourbon as well. They also have a sit down area as well, but you have to order food. They have tvs at the bar so you can catch any local sports event.

Beautiful covered heated garden patio area. Beer was good, espresso martini was better. Had the Beyond burger and it was solid. Service was slow but we were there to hang out. Would return. Great ambience.

Loreley is a great low key option in the LES. It’s particularly nice to sit outside in the beer garden. We recently visited with a large group of friends and they let us reserve a table in advance (although not one of the ones outside). There are plenty of German food options and the bratwurst is particularly tasty. Of course, the main point is the delicious German beer – which is served in all size glasses! The service is not great, but it’s hard to have high expectations, particularly on a busy Friday night.

I am so proud of myself for finding this place. I feel like I am usually the second or third person I know to go to the new cool place, but I was the first person I know to go here. The "Rose Festival" is such a cute and fun summer event, and definitely drew me to stop by, what made me stay was the great ambiance they created with the tent, the flower back drop and of course all the fun rose themed drinks on the menu. I can't wait to see what else they might do throughout the year.

There is no sound absorption - they need to do something about it. I was a group of 6 friends who only get together 2 or 3 times/year, so we all wanted beer, good food and to talk. The beer and food was decent, but we were unable to talk - was so crowded and noisy that you had to shout at the person next to you to be heard. And forget about talking to someone across the table. The din just got worse and worse as time went by as everyone at their tables had to shout to compete with other tables. The backyard Biergarten is small and fills up fast, so we didn’t even make it out there. Sorry to say I won’t be back. Auf Wiedersehen! Yes food was decent but it’s not compelling enough to put up with the assault on the ears. My friends and I couldn’t wait to leave. Sorry that many German places are disappearing - RIP Lederhosen, and the Paulaner place nearby didn’t last long. And RIP Hallo Berlin.

EXTREMELY LOUD! So beware! Despite the German name do not expect a german feel. No German music either. We attended a friend's wedding reception in a small gathering space below the main restaurant and bar? We arrived early and had a bite to eat in the restaurant. We had the buffalo wings, fries, and a bratwurst plate. Food was yummy. It was crazy busy but the service was still good. At the reception downstairs ... there was a small bar that was perfect for the space, and you could order from the same menu upstairs and they would bring the food down to you. Did I mention it was loud? Overall it was good and fun to gather with our friends for their reception.

Diverse selection of beers to choose from. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Ate in the courtyard. Juan from Brazil was a delight to talk with.

This bar restaurant is amazing!!! I love visiting in each season because it always has great decorations. The food is delicious and the service is excellent

The beer is good at this place, but we did not care for the food and the server was rude. When the meals arrived at our table, one of the meals was incorrect. The waiter was a bit angry about this -- like we should have just taken it. The rest of the group was about finished eating and the meal still had not arrived. We asked the waiter and he just started laughing about it with another co-worker. NOT GOOD. The meal finally arrived, but this event left a bad taste in our mouth.

pretty chill for a biergarten. also has a good selection of fancy cocktails and the food is pretty decent.

I will start off by noting I'm really picky about German food--I was spoiled by a really good German butcher shop in Rochester, NY, and so far nothing I've found has managed to outclass that place in quality or price. I had high hopes for Loreley because it's a favorite of my brother, and ended up being disappointed. I'll start with the good: the beer prices were great for happy hour in NYC. Getting a liter of Köstritzer for $12 anywhere is pretty good. The location is lovely, and their back biergarten is a really nice place to sit even in August due to the shade from the walls of the surrounding buildings. Also, the food was good, solidly good for the prices, which are middling for NYC. The problem is that the food is just not really German. German-inspired American is more like it. The potato pancakes were too smooth, and I don't think they had any onion mixed in. The jager schnitzel was okay--in particular, it was nice and tender--but the breading was really bland, which meant it really needed the mushroom gravy to keep it from being blah. Honestly, I wanted a salt shaker for it, but since things were pretty busy, I didn't ask (our waitress, who was *really* nice, was already being run off her feet). Potato salad is regular old American potato salad, not hot bacon-and-vinegar spiked kartoffelsalat. And fries. Two of the three entrees we had in our group came with fries that couldn't be substituted out. They were good fries (beer battered and super-crispy, yum), but again, this just wasn't something that really fit with my knowledge of German food. The one exception was the sausages--one member of our party had the Wurstteller entree, and the sausages were what they were supposed to be. It was a good meal, and I walked away happy, but much of the food just did not line up with what I know as German. So don't go expecting the most authentic German food you've ever had. But if you're just looking for good, less-expensive food and beer on a shady patio with cheerful people, it's a great place to go.

This is a really cool place. It's basically a beer garden. We had the brat sampler plate and it was really good. The beers are huge and they're not cheap if you order at the tables. One very dislike I had and i hope the restaurant reads this is the $5 charge for asking for some extra sauerkraut. Considering what it costs and especially since they don't give you much with a plate full of about 6 brats,I'm not very happy about that as a consumer. Everything else was great from the service to the food and the atmosphere. It is a busy but casual palce and cool to hang out in.

Love the beirgarden in the summer for happy hour or early brunch!

The service was not just bad, it was very bad, the worst. Be warned! NYC has so many other great options where hospitality is taken seriously. Take those other options! There are only 2 restrooms for a bar and restaurant which may be legal, but not enough. The food was in no way authentic German fare, but good enough as pub food. The beer was good. The Autumn decorations were quite festive and some tables had pumpkins tapped like beer kegs. We saw a rat run under people's feet outside in their street dining shed. The restaurant's garbage was stacked right next to the shed, no wonder. The negatives outweighed the positives. We wish we had known all this before we went. We will not return.

Definitely liked the 1L mimosa! ;) The food, the energy, the service, the company -- it was all great! I'd go back.

Delicious German Food, with good selection of Imported German beers. Their biergarten is just The perfect venue to relax and enjoy a few cold beers with friends.

By new era I mean, not dark paneled and musty like most German bars. We stopped in on a Monday afternoon after a long bike ride. The bar was not crowded. I ordered a Kolsch which was served in the correct kind of glass. I was happy to see that. The red haired bartender (didn't catch her name) seemed like a cool person. She was friendly and gave us good service the time we were there. The backyard area had many heavy wooden picnic tables with a huge tent covering the space. It looked like an awesome place to hang out with friends and drink the afternoon or night away. We only ordered the pretzels but they were excellent. I highly recommend checking Loreley out. After Rudy's on 9th ave this was my next favorite bar.

We stumbled upon Lorely while heading to the New Museum. After walking around the city, we needed refreshment. Found the Loreley, had a few beers before heading to the museum. Good selection of German beers, and the menu looked great, although we didn't try the food. The back outdoor patio was packed, and we sat at the bar in front, having the place to ourselves. We thought about returning after having gone to the New Museum around the corner, but found the place packed at that time. Good beer and friendly staff, but busy at certain times. Would recommend to anyone looking for authentic German beer and food.

Over from the uk , stumbled on this total gem. Service was out of this world, drinks great, atmosphere buzzing - just a great place to be. If you are near, call in - its brilliant :)

Good Köln bar smack int he middle of LES. The beer here is fantastic.....you're welcome to get any number of German beers in full steins or the traditional kranz of kölsch. All tasting fresh. Food here while I can't say is amazing in terms of NYC's options, is never bad and definitely worth the price. Currywurst, Weisswurst, Leberwurst are all extremely tasty along with their main entress. So with that said it's more of a 4 star place but their special events should bring it to 6. A true Karneval party in Feb along with Elfter Elfter are some of the best times to be had in NYC. Come in costume ready to drink and you won't be disappointed. The beer tastings that happen every other month are an exceptional deal and a great way to learn about the beer. Schnitzel & Sausage fests and May Day again, a great time. And as far as private events the restaraunt does a great job of securing the downstairs for you and your group with relative ease. I've had my party there almost every year. All this and the option of outdoor biergarten seating makes it a great place to eat & drink.

After a long and exhausting day of sightseeing I really had my heart (and stomach) set on some German. I've sampled many German restaurants all over the place and have relatively high standards. I found Loreley on TripAdvisor which worked great because it was within close proximity to my hotel on Bowery. It was a slow night and I wasn't acknowledged right away by the hostess/bartender/servers who were texting and chatting amongst themselves. Not a huge deal. I ordered the sauerbraten and added potato salad with a pint of Spaten. Food came out relatively quick which was nice. I knew, however, from my first few bites that this was going to be an underwhelming dinner. The meat was a bit rubbery and had absolutely no flavor at all. I don't know what cut of beef was used but it definitely didn't taste like authentic German sauerbraten that was marinated for several days. It somewhat resembled cheap hanger steak that was covered in gravy. I kept adding salt to get some kind of flavor. The red cabbage and dumplings were OK as was the beer which was the savior of my meal. The biggest disgrace, however, was the potato salad which tasted like something on sale at Kroger for $2.99. No bacon, vinegar, or hot mustard here.......oh no... this was American style mayo based slop that was topped with carrot shavings of all things. Maybe the sausage platter would be a better pick? Anyway I paid the almost $40 bill when I was done with my beer and then walked across the street for some really good noodles. Will definitely not return.

Loreley is one of my favorite places to grab a beer and a bite to eat. They serve up a full menu of German staples and the mandatory 1 liter mugs of several delicious brews. All of the food is quite good but I always find myself picking something from their long list of 'bar munchies' (fresh pretzels, meat & cheese platters, etc.) so I can save more room in my stomach for beer! Oh, and they also have a covered outdoor patio in the back which is great on a nice day.

Love Loreley for a fun Saturday or Sunday afternoon beer! It's never overly crowded and the vibe is pretty relaxed. Doesn't hurt that they serve delicious German/Austrian cuisine!

I am German and I gie this place a thumb's up. While the food choices are limited to just a couple traditional German dishes, those select few are very well made. Great Spätzle, great sausage platter. The Hunter's Schnitzel was very disappointing though by German standards (Guys it has to be far creamier than that and needs more sauce). Nice terrace

Visited this establishment today after reading mixed reviews. Straight off the bat, poor attitude from the bar staff, a man possibly who should have found his vocation in life by now, in ill fitting lederhosen, giving me unfounded vibes and utterly unhelpful. Why? I’m paying your rent and for your dated Trent Reznor haircut. Ok beer, 🍺 ok vibes but left disappointed. New York entitlement? Not really, get some happy staff who appreciate your customers

I obviously love this place...so many birthday parties, good bye parties, fourth of July...too much fun to be had here.

I had purchased a lunch Groupon for this restaurant, and we got a lot for what we originally paid. My schnitzel was okay, and the beers were great. Servers were a little slow but all were very friendly. The outside biergarten area was quaint and comfortable. I enjoyed our lunch here.

Recommended online as a fun venue for St Patrick’s Day. It’s a really prettily decorated space & really is beautiful with lots of fake flowers, vines, twinkly lights & candles. I would say it’s definitely a hangout for a younger crowd; the music is too loud to have conversation, to the point we were conversing via WhatsApp. Also it was too dark to see our bill (all praise the iPhone flashlight). The service was good considering the crowd impeding their progress. Our drinks arrived fast, as did our food which was excellent. We were driven out by the sheer volume of the music pumping from the speaker above our table, the bathroom line & sadly the all-pervading stench of the bathrooms which reached to the tables by the rear beer garden.

Stopped here on a food tour and decided to stay longer. Food was good. Pretzels were fresh, beer was good.

I went there during their rose festival and I admit the decor is very nice and instagrammable. We sat outside, not in the rose garden, and I thought it was still nice. I got the pretty in pink martini and it was okay. Didn't taste as good as I expected. My husband got a draft beer and he seemed to enjoy it. We also got the guacamole and chips. I was nicely surprised by the guacamole, it was actually fresh, and well seasoned. I also liked the chips, they were crispy and the right amount of salty. The service was average. Even though they were really busy, someone was there to check in on us but just not as frequently. At some point, when the night got busier, our service got worse and I know we would've ordered more drinks and food if someone was checking in on us more often. Note: In the bar area, the floors are sticky and it feels like a dingy bar but if you're outside or in the garden it's really nice.

Mmmmm... the spatzle here is delish! The patrons on the obnoxious side so, don't go here if you want a quite dinner.

I was incredibly disappointed with the service and food at Loreley. My table ordered an appetizer pretzel and it took 45 mins to arrive!!!! When asked about the pretzel we were told it was delivered to another table! Which is fine, but after that it still took 15 mins to get another pretzel. While my party was sitting at the table our waiter only checked on us one time and that was because we complained to the manager because our "time" was up. The reason we discussed the time with the manager was because someone in our party ordered a steak medium and the steak arrived well done! The wait staff did take the steak back and offered a side of fries to eat while waiting for a new steak and instead of bringing a side of fries, they brought the same plate back minus the incorrectly cooked steam...which is unacceptable! I've never had that happen at a restaurant(not even at a fast food chain). When the new steak arrived, it was still not cooked correctly but at this point there was no fixing the issue.

Walking around this neighborhood we found this place and decided to enter for a couple beers ., they have this amazing patio and a great selection of beer, that type of space is over the top for NYC standards :) beers al Fresco what's not to like ! Try the potato soup it was really good. I will coming back soon.

A nice beer garden but very loud. Fun, and where the locals go, but not a place for a relaxing quiet drink. They have cocktails as well as beer and wine.

We stumbled across this bar whilst having a wander on our recent trip to New York and are so glad we did. Were made to feel so welcome. We had something to eat and it was fresh and very tasty. Try this place you won't be disappointed.

The place itself is not too bad. Was there last night with my wife and a friend. Now, this is where the place lost me. So my wife and her friend order the same kind of beer, and they felt that it was a bit flat, and were contemplating telling the waitress. I had to go to the bathroom, and since there was only TWO unisex bathroom for the whole place! - I was waiting in line which happen to be right in front of the bar. So I see our waitress returning to the bar with the two beers from our table. So I figured they were going to give a new pour. BUT NO! What they did was took a straw and vigorously stirred the same beer until they managed to get a head on the beer and took it back to the table. UNBELIEVABLE! This tells me they have absolutely total disrespect for the customers who walk in to their establishment. When I walk into a restaurant, I EXPECT a certain level of trust. What else do they do in this place? To the food when they go back to the kitchen and such? Makes you wonder. STAY AWAY!

We stopped here as part of a tour and enjoyed hot pretzels and great beer while relaxing. A fun place to stop and enjoy!

Small delicious brauhaus. Delicious food, excellent spätzle, good selection of beers on tap. We'll be back.

German restaurants in Manhattan are a rarity so I was particularly interested in trying this one, even though it was a little bit "off the beaten path" for me. The Loreley claims to be one of few German restaurants here that caters to the "under-fifty crowd". I presume this is to more clearly differentiate itself from some of the last remaining "original" German restaurants in the Yorkville section of Manhattan, around 86th Street. Those restaurants, many of which have closed their doors in recent years, met the culinary needs of German-speaking Manhattanites for many decades. The Loreley is a simple, attractive, contemporary restaurant. It features brick walls and has little or no decoration of any sort. I think the restaurant might benefit from some visual embellishment on the interior walls, perhaps contemporary photos of Germany ... at least something. Otherwise it's just too "neutral" for me and, after all, it's German not Swiss! There is a bar area in the front, seating in the front and back, and a small outdoor garden area with tables beyond that which fufills the "Biergarten" portion of the description. I headed over here for a quick lunch while running about town on business. I was the first person in the restaurant, for an early lunch. I tried the Weisswurst platter and a potato pancake. The Weisswurst was served traditional style and with sweet mustard. The potato pancake or Kartoffelpuffer (just one) was served with applesauce on the side. Both were good, although I would probably try the currywurst or one of their more elaborate meals such as a Wiener Schnitzel on a return visit. The single potato pancake was very good, although a bit pricey, I thought, at $4.00. The service (just one person during this early lunch time frame) was easygoing and friendly. There was some music coming from the font of the restaurant, although in the back, where I was seated, I could only hear the radio from (I presume) the kitchen. It was tuned to a Spanish-language station. The small outdoor garden in the back was sunny and pleasant during my visit, although still a bit chilly on a windy March day. I think this could be a fun place to visit with friends.

Spectacular German food. Went with family and friends, great beer (and I am not much of a beer drinker), wiener schnitzel, sausages, käsespaetzle (delicious!). Was not expecting such a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!!!

We had excellent service here & revisited after having pretzels on our food tour. Dinner was good, portions were large, pretzels are delicious, sausages are good, but not the best we've had. We preferred kielbasa at the deli across the street from Little Poland restaurant. Price was very good, though, especially for NYC!

Stumbled across this pace by accident , looking for somewhere to have a beer and a sandwich on the long walk back from Brooklyn to Times Square! Hubby was getting grouchy so I pulled him into the nearest bar where we found a delightful beer garden in the sunshine at the back. Great service from Anya , a couple of pints of refreshing bier and some very strange but delicious sausages soon revived him! A great spot if you want some authentic Bavarian beer and food in NYC .

Like many other reviewers, we stopped here as part of our food and culture walking tour. Nice looking place. Good service. Beer and pretzels were tasty. Probably a fun place in the evening.

And I was not disappointed.. very cool LES local drinking hole. Very cool vibe with a great beer and drink menu. We sat in the outside berg garden where we enjoyed a wonder beer and my wife enjoyed the rose sangria. Very chill place for a drink and some bar snacks.

Could be a great spot except beers are $9. and up. Menu items like two poached eggs on potato pancakes with smoked salmon at $22.? Two tiny pancakes with slivers of smoked salmon with two poached eggs and hollandaise. To the kitchen, less vinegar in the poaching water, make the potato pancakes much larger, yours now are hidden under the eggs! Add a nice slice of salmon and dish would be nice. $22.? Nope

We came here quite frequently to watch the games during the 2014 World Cup. A selection of German beers and food. Nice little "Biergarten" in the back for warmer days.

As a result of an online search of Yelp for interesting restaurants near my hotel in the Bowery, I discovered the Loreley which was within easy walking distance from the Best Western Bowery where I was staying. I am familiar with German cuisine and after looking at the menu displayed outside the restaurant I decided to give it a try. With only 1 exception - it was a very good decision. First off they had a very impressive list of excellent German beers on tap. I like Spaten very much and was delighted to discover that they had Spaten Marzen on tap which I promptly ordered. But for anyone who appreciates a wide variety of excellent German beers, this place is terrific. Looking at the menu I decided to go traditional with their offering of 3 different German sausages. The sausages were accompanied by 2 different German mustards, plus potato salad and sauerkraut. I know sauerkraut is very German, but I find it too bitter for my taste. I asked if they had red cabbage (or Rot Kohl in German) which is also a very traditional side dish. The waiter said yes and so I asked for the substitution. The meal arrived shortly and I was delighted. A beef wiener, a bratwurst and veal based weisswurst. All 3 tasted great. The potato salad was excellent and happily for my taste, not too sharp and tangy. However there was clearly a mis-communication about the red cabbage. What I was served was sliced raw red cabbage. Not the cooked (boiled actually) German red cabbage that is traditional there. Ah well - two out of 3 is not bad plus the 2 mustards were terrific. So I happily devoured the 3 sausages liberally splashed with the mustards and accompanied by the wonderful potato salad and washed down with Spaten Marzen. The environment is very pub like with a big bar on the left as you enter and then wooden tables both inside and outside in the adjoining patio behind the restaurant. This would be an ideal place for a group of beer aficiados who also like sausages. If the weather is warm, sitting outside would only make the experience better. Strongly recommend if you like the German cuisine.

This is a true german bar. I came on a thursday night and the person behind the bar with the beard was so amazing. He suggested me a lot of beer. For a bartender to go out of way and help me out, I felt appreciated. I tasted some lager and pilsner and even though I did not like it, he was patient enough. He gave me a nice beer and I still regret I did not ask the name of the beer or mainly that bartender's name. I am leaving the city tomorrow and I feel regret not knowing both. At the same time, when I told him I am visiting NYC and my family is away; he suggested museums and farmer's market. I went to 2 farmer's market he told about and I enjoyed both of them. I hope he is working again when I bring my family. Even though they have 2 restrooms, service and atmosphere makes anyone forget that.

Came with a group of friends for Oktoberfest, and it was so much fun! We sat inside, but I wish we sat on the covered backyard patio - be sure to sit there when you go. The whole place was decorated festive for Oktoberfest. The service was a little slow, but we had a big group so I actually think it was very good. Overall great time to celebrate Oktoberfest!

We met our son and two of his friends here for a pre-comedy club dinner. It was probably 6:00 when we were here but we had no issues with noise. I was surprised to read other reviews. Maybe we beat the party crowd?? We sat on the patio on a cool evening but the heaters made it perfect! The German food (schnitzel, sausages, pretzel) was fantastic and the German beers were even better! We'll be back!

My schnitzel was perfect, the beer was great and our waiter was super nice! Had a wonderful experience there with my husband and my cousin, would definitely recommend the place!

Anything that's German in NYC seems to be more Bavarian than cover the breadth of Germans entire culture. This place has a very Bavarian feel to it as does the menu. They serve pretzels too. Long wooden tables remind you of Oktoberfest. They are known for their beers and less for their food.

This was a stop on our food and culture tour. We were provided warm soft pretzels that were the small dark kind and were yummy! We also enjoyed a good German beer. Nick was very friendly!

We were a bit sceptical when we came in to see the place empty and the people not looking german, but after tasting the beer and the food, we can claim we had a true authentic german experience in NYC (and I can attest that my girlfriend is German). The currywurst was delicious, the fries crispy and the curry sauce perfect. The beer was good too, with german foam ;) and quite cheap for an imported beer (thank you happy hour!). The place could look more germanized but I came there more for the food and drink than the atmosphere so I didn't mind.

Great beer by the liter. The pretzels are always perfectly baked. Food is a bit expensive and I always leave hungry and broke.

Fresh food all my friends eat meat and were very happy, I'm a vegetarian and was able to find yummy red kraut, potato pancakes and cucumber salad... the beer is fantastic and the ambiance is great. We love this place!

We had excellent sausages and even better beers, in a really happy ambiance. A bit loud, but refreshingly different place. Will go back.

A great, authentic modern German vibe and fantastic beer make this a great spot to hang out with at night. Grab one of the tables on the back patio early as they fill up quickly in warm weather. Friendly staff brings drinks very quickly. Fantastic German beer selection beyond the typical HB and Franziskaner for all tastes. Try a small to see what you like, then move up to a full liter for the night. Very good German food and snacks as well.

I ordered the curry wurst and it was delicious, as was the house-made saurkraut. I had a wonderful server and the other staff seemed great as well.

Great outdoor bar

Went to Loreley to have a few beers with colleagues during the week and I was quite pleased. We arrived early (4PM) so the place was pretty empty but it started to get busy a bit later. In addition to the beer we had hot pretzels with mustard and a Sausage plate. The food was good but I would recommend the place for the beer. Our waiter had an excellent knowledge of both the beer and the food. As a beer drinker, I find nothing worse than going to a place serving unique beers and having the server be clueless. That definitely was not the case here. I will be back!

Excellent beer garden and good German food.

Lorelei is a cute restaurant. I came in for lunch and chose lunch style entrees. The wait staff is pleasant. The beer is cold. My observation is that the wrist menu is sparse for a German restaurant. And the wrist seems like something from Hillshire Farms. Real German bratwurst is larger and served with a roll. The bread was good. The Potato soup was yummy. The Schnitzel was good. But very thin and sparse. I would recommend the restaurant overall. Good place for friends to meet. Or watch European soccer. The Outside Beer Garden is serene. A good experience. But are there real German butchers anymore?

Offends my german roots

We sat on the patio for lunch and enjoyed all the flowers on the walls. The atmosphere here is great and the food is wonderful. The beer cheese and pretzels was a great way to start the meal. The drinks are really good and the service was excellent!

Very nice place with a nice selection of German beers and a less impressive food menu (for those who have eaten in Germany). Everything done right and carefully with high sanitary standards. Only low point is the semi-imposition of tipping rates. Tipping rates lower than 15% "have to be discussed with the manager", which makes the experience slightly awkward (we tipped just below at 13.8% in rounded USD). Tipping rates reflect the quality of service and should be decided by the customer.

This is a must try brunch spot if you’re in the city. The food was absolutely amazing!!! We had the Pumpkin Sangria and it was delicious and I’m not a pumpkin person. The decor is super pretty. The outdoor heating is very warm and you feel the heat. I highly recommend dining here on your next brunch outing.

It can be hard to find outdoor drinking locations in Manhattan, but this venue in the LES is a great find! The sausages and mash are great but they lose a star as their beers are unnecessarily expensive.

We ducked in here for 'just a quick drink' after dinner on our way back to our hotel next door. Three hours later..... We didn't eat here, but the menu looked interesting. Our varied beverage tastes (beer/wine/spirits) were all catered for. The bar staff were charming and great fun, and the bar tab made us question whether we were actually in NYC (i.e. very reasonable). It wasn't playing obnoxiously loud music, so the noise was just convivial chatter. A nice spot.

Who knew this biergarten ever existed on the Lower East Side? I came here with some friends that came from out of town visiting. Their other friend had been to this place a few times before. Overall it was a great experience sitting outside in the back on the benches. Definitely a great place to catch up with friends and have a few beers. The beers are a little pricey but I understand for German beer. You dont always get to have German beer on a regular day basis. It is different from the norm. I tried the schnitzel fingers, they were excellent. I will definitely reccomend this place and bring my friends for a nice night out whenever they come into town.

I gave this a 4 because overall it was very good. They ran out of my first 2 menu choices...almost pushed my rating to a 3, but they compensated by providing excellent service and a fantastic hearty meal. Meatball app had a fantastic dipping sauce. Entrée-had the goulash w/ spatzlel. My wife the pork schnitzel w/ mushroom sauce. Both very good. Excellent beer list. They have a front bar. Bartender forgot my order and gave me my beer on the house. Overall a very good experience, recommended. I will return.

BAR REVIEW ONLY. Came here Sunday evening for a drink and to check out their holiday decor—it was really pretty! There’s tons of Christmas decoration throughout the bar. My friend and I each ordered a drink—Strawberry Frosé ($20) and Peppermint Nitro Martini ($22)—a bit expensive for drinks that weren’t really that good. The place is definitely photo worthy and great for pictures.

The friendliest staff ever, Great Food and fantastic little garden bar out the back. Right next door to our apartment and were even prepared to stay open for us to have a drink after we had arrived.

Looking forward to Carneval

Nice and chill spot to grab a drink with a few friends and munch on the delicious fries - the service was great and they were very accommodating for our large group, letting us put tables together to seat everyone. A great neighborhood spot in my view.

This was our second visit to Loreley and I am extremely surprised by the lack of service that we experienced this time around. During our first visit, we received speedy, courteous service. This time around, not so much. After being seated (we had reservations), we immediately noticed that there were two large birthday parties in the inside room, but there was extensive wait staff presence and we weren't too concerned. After looking over our menus, we placed them on the table (a sign that we are ready to order) and made eye contact with various members of the staff, who continued to walk by without acknowledging us. After 15-20 minutes passed, we decided to leave. Only when we were getting up to leave did a staff member approach us to take drink orders. We informed him that we were leaving and walked out. Large parties or not, it would have been nice to be informed ahead of time that there may be extended wait times. Again, more than enough wait staff was present, so it wouldn't have been too much to ask for them to at least acknowledge our presence. I will consider giving this place another shot, but definitely won't go out of my way. It's a shame, too, because I remember the food being excellent.

Stayed next door during a business trip and ate and drank here a few times during the stay. Great atmosphere food and of course the beer.

Visited here after a tour at the Tenement Museum (we were learning about German immigrants and craved German food afterwards). Great beers, delicious food & cute/fun atmosphere! Plus, our waiter (I think his name was Dan) was a lot of fun and very accommodating!

The Good: Cute Beer Garden, pleasant spot on a summer evening, and a very nice selection of beers on tap. The Not So Good: The food we ordered was overall very mediocre. The Potato pancakes seemed to be made of mashed, not grated potatoes and had very little flavor. They didn't seem at all fresh, The Wiener Schnitzel came to the table in record speed, and didn't seem freshly made. The coating on the schnitzel was separated from the meat by a good half inch. The Nuernburger sausages were okay. Have had much better German food at Lederhosen in the Village.

The last few years, we've taken our staff here for an end of summer event. This past Friday was a beautiful day and sitting outside in the back was just one of those special NYC days. Big steins of beer and friends, what else could you ask for. The only downfall is that the food is nothing special to write-home about. Not bad but not more than average. Our cold cut and cheese platter appy came without cheese, and the curry wurst was smothered in a sauce that made tasting the wurst itself somewhat impossible. It could have been a brat smothered in a curry based sauce for all I knew. Would we go back? Of course, it's more about the beer and the atmosphere than the food. As long as those are special, it's worth a visit.

Great German spot in the Lower East Side. My son who lives across the street had always mentioned that you can eat one of the best burgers in town. He was absolutely right. The bar and beer selection are one of kind. If you are looking for an informal, but great place to have some drinks and eat a great hamburgers, Schnitzel and sausages, don't look any Farther.

This place was on my bucket list because Ive seen it in a video for cheesiest foods in NYC. First of all, the prices are too high for their appetizers sizes. I ordered the Beer Bacon Dip and the Schnitzel fingers. The dip was okay, I barely tasted the bacon and the taste was bad, McDonalds Chicken Tenders would have fill me up more and taste way better.

Sat outside in the beer garden outside. Service was friendly and quick. Ordered a liter of the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier and the Currywurst. They have a great selection of food and beer. Food and beer was delivered quickly and everything tasted great. Definitely would recommend sitting out back on a nice day. They also have pretty good happy hour specials. It's a really cool spot!

rating is really just for the beer and fries.

Best German in the city. The best (but smallest) outdoor biergarten.
