Steak, Frites, & Prohibition

By jazzlo |

Lucky Strike offers an outstanding combo of delicious food, good beer, great NY value, and a comfortable atmosphere for a solo traveler to belly up.

Good spot to end the day.

By sidrat1963 |

Pro: * Friendly staff. * Reasonably priced & nice portions of food. * Nice atmosphere; cool/casual vibe (bar/restaurant set-up). * Take out available. Con: * If you are having a meal and are seated near the front the tables may feel a bit uncomfortably small. See if you can go to the back.

Okay food at NYC prices

By fennelouski |

We stopped here for lunch after the first place we checked out had a line out the door. Lucky Strike wasn't a block away and had absolutely no wait for our group. We were all rather hungry and ready to eat at this point so sitting down quickly was a big plus to us. Once we sat down, it took a few minutes before a waiter made it to our table. After filling up our water glasses, the waiter went to go get menus which took a few minutes longer than expected (especially considering how few people were in the restaurant). This delay diminished over time and by the time the bill came, the waiter was prompt and speedy. The food was hit or miss amongst the group. The burger I had was good, but not great. In New York, there's a certain premium price that's expected and Lucky Strike was no exception. But it didn't feel like the food was consistently worth the added cost over a faster option.

Great little place for dinner

By jenghis77 |

We had dinner at this place as we were at the Soho Grand and wanted something handy. It was lovely little place with a bar area at the front and seating for dinner at the rear. The tables were really cosey and intimate. There was good music playing too. I had a salad whilst my boyfriend had a burger both were excellent. The menu had good choice and with the ability to add and change some if the salads it provided good choice. We had a main and dessert each, a bottle of wine and soft drink and it came to $100 including tip. Would definitely recommend.

An old favourite

By ATY_58 |

This has been here for years virtually unchanged. The decor is French cafe style and the food Is American with a French angle. It has a nice atmosphere. Nothing to set the world alight but it does a reliable job. We had lunch there because it was near our hotel and we had visited Before. We were well served.

like an old pair of shoes..

comfortable, casual and always fun. However, some of the DJ's they recruit should not quit their day jobs. Food, drink and company are always good!

I love it!

By flypiggy |

Very special French cuisine restaurant! Great for friends and family! The French Onion soup is the one mush try. The home bread is delicious!

Not What I Expected, But Better

By CCRTN |

Lucky Strike has an old world quality that instantly translates to "dive", but I was pleasantly surprised once the food came. The restaurant has embraced its history in keeping with a saloon-ish vibe, but the menu and service were impressive. Great casual escape in the middle of Soho.

Good vibe and good steaks.

By Harriett G |

Lucky Strike has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant that has been there forever which seems to be the style of the owner Frank McNally. The wait staff were very friendly and accomodating. We had a bit of a wait and they gave us complimentary appetizers. We all had the steak au poivre and it was delicious.

Lucky 2nd choice

By VoyagerJC |

Planned to brunch with friends somewhere else on NYD but place was closed so made the short walk to Lucky Strike. Turned out to be a good 2nd choice in the end. I opted for the '1 lucky pig' - scrambled egg over pulled pork, accompanied by pomegranate and ginger lemonade (must try). Very enjoyable and very good service. Decor somewhat reminiscent of a French bistro.

Good music and Kronenbourg

Been here several times, wether for a beer, a bite or a cocktail, it’s an institution that I pay my respects to every time in NYC. Don’t plan to go there, just make sure you end up there at some point.

Perfect Grilled Chicken Sandwich

By Emily |

We found this place through Google - it didn’t pop up when we search nearby on TripAdvisor! However, we were so glad we found it and took a chance. It is surrounded by much posher places and if we hadn’t read the reviews, we probably would have just walked straight past as it doesn’t look that nice from the outside. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and got a window seat. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was just perfect and my friend had macaroni cheese, which again was delicious. There is also an interesting cocktail menu. Highly recommend this place and definitely an example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

I love this place

By jrpard0 |

This is my go-to place in New York. Great food and atmosphere. The jalepeno margaritas and the bar steak and fries are awesome

Good ambient and good meat

A true place in soho where to eat good meat in a good and familiar atmosphere. No draft beers, but is not really a problem!

Old-fashioned AND hip

By jrh825 |

A delightful casual restaurant on the edge of Soho. I sat at the bar for lunch. Friendly bartender (Tristan) and fast service. Ordered a delicious and satisfying Croque Madame sandwich -- menu was also very brunch friendly. 1990s alternative rock track perfectly complemented the meal had me nostalgically reflecting on my high school days. If I lived in the area I would definitely return here.

Service, food & space - very good

By johnny-XRay |

Sadly I was staying at the Sheraton TriBeCa but around the corner was Lucky Strike. Small, with good sounds and friendly service it's a comfortable space to enjoy a glass of wine and a limited but nice menu. Not much of a beer selection so beer lovers beware. Good but basic choices were available, wine and full bar options seemed more the choice. I sat at the bar as a solo diner, any small tables were busy with drinkers and diners-a really nice scene. Steak Frite was excellent and friendly the bar tender was providing good service while directing the staff quietly. This was a good find. Hope you find it.

Great food, busy place, ok service

By tawnyaluna |

The salad I got was amazing. The service was ok. It's a busy place.

Cool place

By M. R. |

Good food and very gracious service. The venue is not too big but rather crowded with a cool crowd of people. Surely a place to go back to!

Great Casual Spot

By Advourner |

Great spot to drop in for a quick casual meal. I enjoyed an arugula salad with goat cheese and toasted almonds. Polenta with wild mushrooms was good, but a little too much for one - plan to share this dish.

A Classic

By Michael M |

Haven't been to Lucky Strike in years but decided to go on a recent visit to the city, having gone from time to time in my many years of living in New York. Seemed like nothing had changed in the very best sense. Great crowd, lively energy and good food--nothing fancy.

Best happy hour!

By Nicky Meredith |

Great vibe, yummy food (with vegan options) & nice selection of cocktails. There is a specific menu available during happy hour, which runs from 4pm -7pm. Lucky Strike is quite popular during this time, so we were very fortunate to get a table of 4. Despite how busy it was, the service was great and we didn’t wait long at all for either our food or drinks.

Excellent Margarita + very good burger!

By Philippe P |

Each time I visit NYC I stop there for burger and margarita. Margarita is classic and excellent. Burger is served on English Muffin and French fries are great. Good value and nice location in SOHO

Excellent American/French Bistro

By J B |

Great atmosphere - vibrant, fun. We didn't have a booking around 8pm on a Thursday (and the bar was really busy and lively!) but managed to get a table for 3 quite easily. The martinis are superb. Turkey burgers are fantastic, and the steak frites was delicious too (great fries!!). Location is awesome as well for drinks before or after. Service very attentive and helpful. Oh and the Flight of The Conchord actors were there too - which was exciting, but shows you how this place is lo-key but classy! Definitely recommend it.

cross between a Parisian cafe and a NY diner

By Sidji |

At its heart lucky strike is a cross between a Parisian cafe and a NY diner. Food is decent brasserie cooking serving the classics. Service is chilled but efficient. You won’t leave disappointed.

Trendy Bowling & Bar

By TinyTuff |

We stumbled across Lucky Strike-Manhattan on a rainy cold December afternoon after finishing a cruise around Manhattan. We were pleasantly surprised by the trendy fun atmosphere and thoroughly impressed with the food we received. Two thumbs up for a unexpected delicious reprieve from the rain.

Nice time

By B B |

We stopped in for lunch and ate in the bar area. The atmosphere is old New York and very charming. We were lucky to be served by Josh. He gave us excellent service and was friendly and helpful. The burger and salad were very good. We loved the SoHo area and enjoyed this restaurant very much!

restaurent in NYC ( Grant Street)

By gringoNewYork |

This place is becoming worse. We had dinner yesterday, the bread was old, not even heated, the drink were not good, we order their cosmo - with passion fruit..-, forget it, the one I make at home are better, I think they did not have a real bartender, a waiter ( on my way out I saw one of the waiters bartending). Next to us, there were some gay girls kissing, and we were almost in the same space (remember the tables are so small that they you have barely enough spcace for the plates and glasses, and the tables are so close together that you are part of those discussion or activities whether you like it or not). We ordered the Steake au poivre, it was very salty ( the sauce), the steak are much smaller than what they used to be and much more money. If you like noisy, crowded, below average food, this place is for you. I will never go back, we are licky there are so many good places. Sorry to see such an a great place goes doen to the pits, especially the food!

Very nice small restaurant 'sans chichi'

By Olivier F |

Good food at nearly reasonable price (in Soho) Good atmosphere, good service Nothing else needed to be happy on my sunday brunch :-)

Average

By Airmarshll |

Perfect for 20-30 something's, though there were some older folks late 40's like me and 50's but crowd was younger on average (that's fine BTW). Jammed by 8:30. Food was completely average in my opinion. Place is probably shabby-chic for the locals, to me it was a little dingy/divey. Tables very close together and noisy which is fine as long as that's what you're looking for. Our waitress was a cutie-pie and very good. Not my kind of place but clearly popular with others.

We struck lucky with Lucky Strike!

By YGKinghorn |

This was our first night out eating in New York on this trip and we found a recommendation for Lucky Strike from Mena Suvari on a Soho 'happening' site. She was right. This place has a municipal type setting but with warm friendly and efficient staff, and great British music in the background, you have the perfect setting for a relaxed and inexpensive tasty meal. I had the spinach, feta and pesto ravioli which was delicious and the portion was not the usual massive ones you get in the States (pity) :) My parnter had a sausage and pepper pizza which he loved. We watched the staff accommodate a Spanish party of two kids and around 6 adults seated round a very small table because they didn't want to eat separately. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. If we had time, we would have gone back again... Next time.

Awesome Night of Fun!

By TFab326 |

I hosted a party with friends at Lucky Strike in both November '14 and August '15 and we all absolutely loved it! We did the largest party package so we had 2 hours of drinks and appetizers in 2 reserved lanes. I had 8 different appetizers and they were all absolutely delicious! My favorite apps were the chipolte quesadillas and the pretzel dippers. The waitresses were great and kept our drinks coming. After our 2 hours in the lanes are up, we head over to the bar area for more drinks. There are also skiball, ping pong and pool tables. Another thing I loved about Lucky Strike was the music, they play everything from freestyle to hip hop. Yes, it is on the expensive side, but don't feel it's crazy since it is NYC. I would definitely recommend people to go, it's always a great time! Considering taking my kids back one weekend during the day, think they would love it!

Great Croque Monsieur

By Classicsmjr |

A friend and I went to Lucky Strike during a weekend visit to NYC and loved it. It is a little hole in the wallish but the food was great. I had the croque monsieur and he had the croque madame. The béchamel on both were wonderful. I had the salad on as my side but the fries were killer. The drinks were also wonderful and the staff fun. It was on the early side for lunch and the place not busy at all but people should really check it out.

French but not French!

By WatfordPete |

Great meal; great wine; nice price. However French you want to make a place with decoration, if you play 80s pop music you do not get a French vibe! Which was fine by me.....

Excellent food, great atmosphere, good music

By Sara C |

Traveling with 6 other people from work, all with very different tastes- Raving reviews from all. Everyone had wonderful meals, from steak, chicken, mussels and salmon. The drinks were pretty yummy as well. Service is good as well. Second time visiting Lucky Strike and it was a knock out both times!

nice atmosphere, good food, quick service

By Kathi N |

we were filling in time between tours and went here the food choices also included some unique items and we were served promptly they weren't great about coming back to the table but thankfully we werent there very long so didnt need to worry about drink refills, etc would go again and hope to stay longer

Great simple meal in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere

By Joanne K |

If you are in Soho and want a good simple meal that is not fussy and is away from the busy streets I highly recommend this restaurant. It is relaxed and the staff is super friendly. A perfect respite from busy Soho.

Great soho braserrie

By DGutkind |

My favorite downtown restaurant Great service and atmosphere The house wine, lentil salad and steak poivre are the perfect combination

Good food but bad service

By nigelpat |

The meal was lovely but a shame to be challenged as we left as to why we hadn't left a big enough tip!! Not a nice end to the evening.

Cool vibe

By RickLee0288 |

Small bar and restaurant with cool vibe. Music playing in the background and easily good American selections, burgers, etc. Good drink selections. Moderate pricing.

Hit & miss place in Soho

By GracieAmsterdam |

I had a lovely first experience here. Everything was perfect. It had charm, it's cosy, good mix of people, the waitresses were lovely and I really enjoyed my pasta. It felt like one of those restaurants where I could become a regular so I went back a couple of days later. The staff were surly, my Salad Nicoise was just wrong. Served in a bowl that I couldn't really get to the 2 handfuls of lettuce and not much else with a side of cold, under cooked fries. It was a shame. If you are caught in the rain right outside, then I guess it is worth popping in, but it's no destination restaurant, there are plenty of those in New York.

Used to be a favourite when

By Tommyd70 |

Used to be a favourite when we lived here, just returned with the family and had terrible service from a waitress that really couldn’t be less interested or helpful - a shame so won’t be returning.

Crappy, crappy service. Oh, and dishonest.

By Paolo G |

I joined a party of almost 20 people whose individual bill was above $50 (thus the table consumed about $1000). And yet we were poorly treated by the waiters, including a clueless guy who claimed to be the manager. After the payment was settled, including a 20% tip which we should have never paid in the first place, the "manager" rushed out of the restaurant to reach us and mumbled disrespectfully that we were $60 short -- which we were not, as we checked the money more than twice before handing it to him. At first, he agreed with us and went inside. To our surprise, he came back and accused us again of not paying the whole amount due, which obviously made us furious. We again argued, without success. Result: we deducted the "missing amount" from that "gratuity" that they did not deserve in the first place. Boo hoo. Lucky Strike, 1) chose your employees better, 2) do never put your clients in this position, especially publicly, and 3) I am never coming back to your joint, neither any other person who was involved in this incident.

Still a Favorite

By courtney9384 |

Used to live in the neighborhood and loved coming here for good French bistro fare. I was in town for a trip and decided to come back; glad I did! Food was as good as always and the ambience was just as charming. Prices are very reasonable, as well. Love it!

Loved it for lunch. Still has it.

By Barbara M |

Just delicious comfort food. While we had an anomalously long wait (even the waiter agreed), and had to catch a plane so were a bit antsy, this old fav still delivers. I had a great salad that had Brussels sprouts grilled to perfection and my fellow dinner the Niçoise. It's been a while since I went to Lucky, but I've bookmarked it in my head to go back again. Great Arnold Palmers too, which is a new tee totaling standard I'm applying to all my favs.

Famous but not in food sense

By MarkKenty |

I visited this olace in May.. I heard only great stories about this joint.. I came for linch.. Lunch menu ks very short, too short for my taste.. All prices are very very high. Service is pretty good.. We tried burger with goat cheese which was ok, even moor, very very good and sendwich which was tasty and small..

What to do when you miss the boat...

By tkelly7 |

We missed our afternoon Circle Line boat tour by five minutes and needed something to do to kill time for two hours. Fortunately for us, right across the street from Pier 83 is the Lucky Strike bowling alley. With two tired kids (13/11), we went inside, bowled a couple of games, had cheeseburgers, and relaxed. When it was time to go back to the pier, we were in a much better mood than we would have been had we tried to kill two hours in a coffee shop or by just sitting around at the pier! The one thing to keep in mind if you have children is that after 5:30 pm, there is a 21+ age policy. The service there was truly excellent. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer. It was certainly the most expensive bowling I'll ever do, but given the circumstances, it was well worth it.

Very cool

By amitra1 |

We went for an office pool party on a weekday. There were 14 of us and we had a great time. The decor is amazing and very loungy with neon lights. I was told its busier in the winter and look forward to returning soon.

Great Gem

By 66JJ |

So close to the grand Soho we went there a few times and loved it - make sure you ask for the specials - had some exceptional seared scallops with a glass of Shiraz!!

Classic Italian on Grand with that local feel

By A_Gunnarsson |

Second time at Lucky Strike I still feel this is worth coming back a third time. Genuine Italian food with a good personal service adding that local feeling that makes you feel you could be a local, although home is on the other side of the Atlantic pond. Go there and have a real decent Italian meal, instead of going to Little Italy and be disappointed.

Dive bar with great food

By SAMD_10 |

Kind of a dive, but food was fairly good. Brooch French toast was yummy. Salads good too. Benches along the wall we're uncomfortable so we sat at a table with 4 chairs. Don got for the ambiance but good neighborhood place for brunch.

Still Good fun and good service

By maria s |

I have loved Lucky strike for 20 years and it still does not disappoint. Great steak frites, friendly service, good cocktails, charming interior, delicious desserts. Your kids will love it or you can go for a well priced date. watch football in the bar whilst eating alone or relax with friends in the back room.

Such spot

By caryn1958 |

Great Saturday lunch before strolling the neighborhood shops. Best crab cake ever and the grilled tuna sandwich was not to be missed

Late Night Dinner

By Kirsten S |

I had dinner here after arriving in town late on a business trip. The place is charming and cozy and the staff was very friendly. The food is totally average though. There was nothing at all special about the caesar salad or the spring rolls (which seemed like frozen food out of a box). Perhaps there are better menu choices, but I found the food disappointing.

Great SoHo hang

By rodbruce |

Super friendly staff, excellent prices. Great to spend some time here, either for a pre-dinner drink or as a destination in its own right

Great NoHo Bistro

By GMBG |

Old style bistro in NoHo. Simple and satisfying menu. Simple preparations but tasty and good. NoHo Service (ultra hip and understaffed but working hard to cover as many tables as possible). We would definitely recommend and plan to return soon.

Great bar, great music

By Lorraine S |

Had a really fun evening here. The music was brilliant and had me dancing. Good food, great staff, great ambience. Definitely recommend it.

Great hangover food!

By Tiffany W |

Good selection! Get the steak and frites or a burger! Everyone in my family of 7 found something they liked!

Love this place

By gulfem k |

I Ve been coming in since many years. The burgers and fries (yesyes I know it is common:) are great. The crowd is cool, Brunch is a must there. They renovated the place but I liked the atmosphere more before. It is great to have a lunch after W. Broadyway hang out on Sundays.

My last lunch in NYC couldn't have been better!

By sharless |

Was wandering around West Broadway on my last day in New York and spotted this place. Was standing outside and a customer walking in said "Food's really good!" so took his suggestion and went in. Couldn't have been more pleased. The 80's music playing was making me very nostalgic over my glass of wine and lunch was awesome. This will be my go to place for every visit from now on...

Steak Frites perfectly cooked (not that it is that hard), but the french fries were nicely done and not all...

By Apoena J |

Steak Frites perfectly cooked (not that it is that hard), but the french fries were nicely done and not all "oily". The atmosphere is good, they could improve their wine list and it's over-priced.

Good food and service, loved it

By Lim0r |

I got caught in the rain and decided to go in for drinks with a bunch of friends, but we all ended up eating because it was lunch time and we kept seeing the tables around us being served with food that looked so tasty..... :-) well. we were right, the food was excellent. the burgers and fries were just great, nice cocktails, cool atmosphere - highly recommended!

Food is simple and good enough, service was very average

By DiverDanSydney |

I liked the food and it was pretty obvious what you were getting for your money. Like the range of beers to have with your food as well and price was about right. One night the service was fine...not sharp but fine. I went back a second time on a Sunday evening and even though it was not busy the service was dreadful. Maybe an off night make your own mind up.

Great food and cocktails and friendly service

By fnqtraveller00 |

Really enjoyed this little restaurant, great atmosphere and the staff were really attentive. Highly recommend the Steak Frites and the cocktails were fantastic. Located in the heart of Soho, just around the corner from the Soho Grand.

Good cool/casual spot in SOHO

By Irene E |

A good friend who lines in NYC recommended this place for lunch. The atmosphere is very Paris bistro, we enjoyed it very much. The service was friendly. But not fast. That's ok though, we were not in a rush. This is not a fast food diner. If that's what you want, keep walking. However if you want really good food, in a cool , laid back restaurant you will love it. We did!

Great service and good quality food

By Mr-Poisson |

We visited Lucky Strike at lunch time. It was quiet, so service was excellent. Great quality food. Interesting beer - but sadly no beer on draft. Pleasant environment and would recommend.

Great lighting but loud

By Eli S |

I met up with a group of friends following an art opening. Great scene, beautiful lighting, deep menu, but loud---not from the background music, but from dinner conversations & ambient restaurant noise. After seeing the neighboring table's meals arrive, we had to order the fries for starters.

An old favorite

By bhtpa |

Returned for lunch when shopping in in Soho. It's still great after all these years. Simple, perfectly cooked French-ish food. They serve a nearly perfect Salad Nicoise as if you ordered it in Nice. Would be 100% on point if they had dijon vinaigrette instead of balsamic.

Food was amazing...but the service!

By Henry C |

This restaurant has the makings of being something great. The food was amazing the onion soup to the perfectly made salmon with mash, all that mixed in with a great atmosphere was fantastic, but the service was (to give them the benefit of the doubt) AWFUL... Coming from working in a restaurant I understand you got a small a restaurant and you want turnover, or maybe you have a booking but rushing us from having our soup straight through to paying the bill? At the beginning we thought they were very courteous but then when they just picked up our soups whilst I was halfway finished that is when we realised they wanted us out as soon as possible. This kept on happening over and over again until we decided to up and leave. Maybe we got their at the wrong time but neither the less I won't be wasting anymore of my time going back as they didn't treat me like a paying customer, truly disappointing.

Good little find

By Richard B |

Really friendly atmosphere, great service with really welcoming staff, good beer and excellent food. Nothing not to like here folks

Yum. Looks like a bar from the outside but has a Bistro slant

By MagKap |

Loved this place. Had lunch here on a Friday. It looks like a bar from the outside but once you enter you get that Bistro vibe, which I loved. Very tight in the front with tables on left and bar/stools on right. Sit in the back if you can get it. Not sure how the wait staff can be disinterested but attentive at the same time. Very French ;) Service was quick even though it was pretty busy. You get water, bread while you wait. The French Onion soup was positively delicious, and I don't typically like it. This is more than just a burger and fries kinda place. I had the Brooklyn Lager (local) which was nice to see. My husband and I both got the Steak Au Poivre, which was a fantastic cut of steak in a delicious cream-based sauce with capers and awesome matchstick french fries. Delicious and HUGE portion. Got my 26.50 worth of food! Wouldn't hesitate to dine here again and even grab a drink at night.

Nice place, strange mix of American and French but good and fun

By Dobsokar |

Great building. Great service. Weird personality confusion between French and American food and latin music. I think it should choose one or the other. BUT the food was good, I had seared tuna and wasabi sauce. Very good. Waiters were fun and really helpful.

Great Place for Lunch

By jlopez2266 |

My wife and I have been going here for years whenever we are visiting NVC. It reminds us of a small out of the way old time French Bistro. We go for lunch. I had the burger and fries and my wife had the mussels and fries. With a glass of wine each,we felt like we were on a date. Service is good and friendly. Definitely a place to go at least once if visiting and want something a bit different.

Not like it used to be...

By Jetlag79 |

The service was not very efficient, and the waiter told us that the veggie burger was frozen... The skinny French fries were boring, and they don't serve wine in proper wine glasses, which is a bit ridiculous for a place that's supposed to be a French bistrot. This place used to be nice, but it seems like it has lost its charm.

Old school

By Nahi |

Been going for years - still exactly the same. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it - they took it literally.

Friends Christmas

By Lizzy C |

A few of my friends and i went to lucky strike fro our little christmas gathering. The actual spot was super cute and had a great atmosphere. The service was sub par. Our waiter got never checked on our drinks. We also watched him poor a soup we ordered out of a plastic container and into a bowl. For the price we paid for this meal i was not really pleased. Unfortunate because i had high hopes for it.

mwah...

By hansamsterdam24 |

on a chilly Sunday, not too busy, I ordered steak frites, and I now know why this place is not crowded. Service good, food so so...

Not worth the money

By Rik W |

We went here for a dinner with our family of 5 with 3 teenage children. The portions of the macaroni were too small. The steak was overdone. The iced tea was undrinkable. Atmosphere and interior however are nice.

Sit in the bar!

By HerrDrE |

If you are downtown, this is a good place for a lunch. I like the spicy calamaris and/or the salads. Sometimes good music in the bar...

Good casual dining

By AS-reviewer |

This restaurant was two minutes from our hotel so very convenient. It is extremely noisy so not the place for an intimate/romantic meal. The American twist to a French Bistro menu is just what we were looking for. I had excellent crab cakes as a starter with more crab in them than many I have had elsewhere. My chicken/bacon sandwich was tasty and hit the spot. The wine is served in think, small glasses, adding authenticity to the French Bistro theme. The music was fun and created a lively atmosphere. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back if in this area.

Best Burger.

By pythagoras2014 |

Was recommended Lucky Strike and was not disappointed. It's more of a bar than restaurant but don't let that put you off. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and it's easy to strike up a conversation with strangers. Had the burger and chips. Delicious. They make a mean martini too. Check it out.

Great Burger!!!

By Neil-John R |

Quirky restaurant - amazing burger and fries. Definitely recommending this one!!! Service was really good and great to get the window seat!!

Not so hole in the wall in soho

By Lylah |

A local friend frequents this restaurant and brought my daughter and me there while we were visiting NYC. The place set the bar high for all the other restaurants we would visit on our trip. My daughter and I shared a chicken sandwich (we were not feeling fancy that night) and the nightly special of kale salad. Both were amazing. The place was very busy when we went in for dinner, around 8pm, but it was worth our wait (approx. 20 minutes) We went back a couple times more to the bar and I would recommend the Stormy Mule. It was fabulous. The staff is very kind and fun.

Good Food - Nice Change

By fgcook |

This place was a recommendation of our doorman and it fit the bill. Just around the corner, it was a nice walk. Got right in and had a small table in the middle of everything. We just had a beverage and a started and both were great. Table was on the small side to fit everything on and it was quite loud, but enjoyable.

A great venue with great steak

By Michael K |

We were staying at The James Hotel just a few doors down Grand Street and wanted a good simple meal with little fuss. Lucky Strike was everything we were looking for. The menu is limited but our steaks were perfect. The staff were very welcoming and got us a seat and a drink very quickly and without much fuss. We were there mid-week and while it wasn't full it certainly was not empty.

Lucky...to get your food

By Rich J |

About a half hour after placing my lunch order and wondering where it might be, I approached the waiter and asked him if he had ever placed it? Answer, "computer error", meaning no, he hadn't. The restaurant wasn't crowded at the time(not hard to understand why noe), so it was merely a matter of incompetence. I then spoke with the manager, who was as insensitive to my plight as had been the waiter. One would think they might offer to do something to make up for their error, which pretty much killed my afternoon. But, they didn't. My advice...stay away from this place.

Very mediocre food and atmosphere

By Henning R |

We were a group of 25 people who ate here one workdays evening. Although located nicely in a cozy neighbourhood don't expect any high Cousine in here. The food is mediocre - factory french fries and a quite boring burger that you probably don't even want to finish if you're accustomed to better eating. It's not directly bad - just nothing out of the ordinary. Would try other places before going here for eating.

Neighborhood Stand-By - Always Delicious

By Jonny L |

This casual restaurant has been here forever, and it's always good. The menu is simple yet fresh and filling, and the service is excellent. A great place to grab a burger while taking a break from shopping.

Still good after all these years

By thomasr888 |

I lived in NYC for 15 years, and I remember Lucky Strike as a buzzy, hard-to-get-into place in the early 90s...known for its late night dining and frequent celebrity sightings. There are several places (like La Jumelle that used to be next door) that have not passed the test of time, but Lucky Strike (like Balthazar) has found a way to reinvent itself and prosper. I have eaten here dozens of times over the years, and it was fun to go back and check it out. The French bistro setting, with its timeless menu-items-written-on-mirrors and worn wooden floors is part of the draw, and the food is consistently good.

Nice, relaxed athmosphere, lovely service & great happy hour deals! (4-7pm)

By mlleracine |

Just deopped in by chance & had a nice glass of wine during happy hour. the waiter was very friendly & helpful & we enjoyed our short stay there..

I always come to Lucky Strike when I am in New York.

By vincefaro |

Every time I visit the city, I go to Lucky Strike , If you need some good food that is not fancy especially late , this is a solid choice. The cocktails are great the music is good ,and the food is solid. What else do you need?

Atmosphere :) Food :(

By tommyandnaterule |

Service & atmosphere were good - atmosphere was dark and cozy and the waitress was nice enough (not overly friendly) and kept our glasses full of tap water & the busboy was QUICK! My husband ordered a burger w/fries and I a flat pizza - serving size was large but we did NOT like the food we ordered! Beer was reasonable (about $7 a bottle) but a glass of white wine was $8 for a juice glass full. Bottom line - if you want atmosphere try here but if you want yummy food - try somewhere else...

A New York classic

By Sanibel_Frank |

The neighborhood joint you want in your neighborhood. Lucky Strike is a NY institution and it is simply great. Good food and great drinks. Nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to be fancy.

Love it!

Tipically american food. Service OK. Perfect french fries !!! Love the atmosphere. Great for drinks with friends.

Great food, great service at Lucky Strike

By StephanieA5025 |

We loved everything about this place. Simple atmosphere. Excellent service and the food was great. We ordered the croque monsieur, bar steak with fries and jack manhattans. All were very good but especially the croque monsieur!

Grand Little Gem

By DownunderBob |

To find a favorite in Pastis has closed was disappointing . Staying in Soho we stumbled on this McNally opened restaurant around the corner . A small casual bistro with a great atmosphere and a simple but delicious menu . Great service . This place is a cracker

Good lunch

Fun place. Been around a long time but do it well. Food is good. Drinks are better. Last trip the service was a bit cold but efficient.

Great Vibe

By MancLoner |

Great food great service great atmosphere. A real neighbourhood bar, so good went back twice. A real flavour of New York.

Excellent eats in a place with a great vibe!

By Jacqui |

Great atmosphere and attentive service! The ravioli were perfectly done - cooked through but the pasta pocket still al dente served in an aromatic flavor-filled sauce. The grilled polenta was served with fresh mushrooms; perfect for the small but perfect wine selection. The staff was on pointe - attentive and friendly and not in your space the entire time. Groovy vibe - which makes sense as the same ownership of Balthazaar. I adored being on the bench side of the small tables up front facing the bar - they generously and graciously allowed us to take two tables and sit side by side which was nice to relax and enjoy the scene.

Great bar

By Bart_361969 |

I always visit this bar that is located here for many years, which is a good sign. Nice beer menu and although it is a bar, the food they serve is good. And, great perk is that you can watch European soccer games like the champions league games.

NY average

By NiniEat |

Maybe we collided with Sat night blues. Food was served very fast, but steak frites and salmon overdone. Friendly staff, packed out restaurant, great vibe. NY attitude, but food was disappointing.

Great burgers with vegetarian option and nice staff

By anikawhatever |

Went there a couple of years ago for dinner and came back again and enjoyed it just as much. The staff is very nice but not annoyingly overfriendly. We ordered burgers, I had the black bean and quinoa one which was a very tasty vegetarian option. The fries were rather thin, so not the regular ones, which is a good thing. You can get different sides such as spinach, mp,... with your burger. Portion size was just perfect for me. Location is pub style, very nice and perfect place for a july 4 dinner. Would go back any time.

Fun, casual dinner

By CherylGLBoston |

This restaurant was a few blocks from our hotel and although we are frequently in NYC, neither of us had eaten here before. We liked the casual atmosphere and varied menu. My steak frites was delicious. My husband had the salmon, which he liked, but felt it was a little bland. Service was great, very attentive.

Good Burgers in Lower Manhattan

By bfg1953 |

We had an excellent lunch at this place on our last visit to NYC. The burgers were cooked perfectly to specification, and the fries were properly done, which means crispy. We ate at the bar which was not crowded and had a good time. The place presents as a bit of a dive but it isn't and the bar was well stocked with quality liquors.

More than just a bowling alley

By Ruffles212 |

I was invited to a "Happy Party" at Lucky Strike and decided it sounded like fun, even though I don't bowl. The party involved an all-you-can-drink premium bar with a waitress to bring you your spirits, and platters of food, which were delicious. Tip: Try the Mac & Cheese bites. They come with sauce but don't need them. We also had pizza, Buffalo Chicken bites, some sort of chicken skewers, and absolutely delicious sliders. There were billiards tables and ping pong tables and a large bar and lounge area. The music wasn't too loud, nor was the sound of the bowling going on all around us. I had a great time and would recommend it even to a non-bowler such as myself, although probably not if you're going just for the purpose of drinking or having a good time, but definitely if you are invited out bowling with a group. The only real down side is that the location is not great. The entrance to the Circle Line is directly across the street, which means you are right on the Hudson River, which for anyone that knows NYC, knows that there isn't a whole lot to do around there, and cabs are hard to come by.

Bistro with Perfectly Cooked Simple Food

By 321Deb32123 |

We have been so pleased with restaurateur Keith McNally's Manhattan restaurants, that we decided to try them all. We entered Lucky Strike in SOHO on a surprisingly cold March night with a reservation. We were greeted and were immediately offered the best available table, a round corner wooden table. We had mussels, roast chicken and Brussels sprouts. The plump, fresh mussels were just the size we like - medium. The garlicky white wine broth was a delicate rose color from a touch of tomato. It was a good thing they provided plenty of bread to sop up this delicious broth. The roast chicken was half of a chicken, cooked all the way through, but still moist. It was on top of a reduced au jus or chicken stock and came with some potatoes and other vegetables. The side of Brussels sprouts was roast simply, with a little char. All of the food was cooked perfectly, delicious and reasonably priced. The surprise of the evening was the pricing of the wine which was far lower than we expected for a bistro of this quality. From the very small list we selected a nice Italian Montepulciano bottle for $28. We will certainly return to Lucky Strike. There must be a story behind this name, we'll have to ask when we go back.

Not very special

Recommended by the owner of the house we stayed in during our holiday. Its a nice looking place, food (hamburger with fries) is good, but not excellent

Strike Gold!!!

By Milehighclub |

A delightfully lovely cafe/restaurant, serving delicious, warm hearty meals in the SoHo area. I work a stones throw away and try to get to Lucky Strike at least once a week. Located on the West side of Grand street just a short walk from the hub bub of the crazy SoHo shoppers and tourist, but near enough to continue your shopping on West Broadway, for the shopaholic amongst us ( you know who you are!) Lucky Strike reminds me of a small French bistro, with it's casual tables and warm service. A great place to chill and have a nice meal as well. The menu is not your regular Burger and Fries fare, but serves dishes like their amazingly hearty lentil salad, Croque Monsieur or the Croque Madame, home made Pizza as well as a delicious mushroom polenta drizzled with gravy. Save room for Dessert that could be served a'la Mode!!!

Turkey Burgers - best in town!

By Kristy D |

Best turkey burger and fries I've ever had. Came recommended by the neighborhood and it didn't disappoint. Loved the feel of the place. Awesome service and total value for a drink! Would go back next time in SoHo!

Excellent food, Ambiance and Attitude

By Iwanttotravelnow_11 |

I first look for ambiance and service then the quality of the food. My husband the reverse! After a long day of walking we were stumbling around looking for a restaurant comfortable to rest our weary feet and for some food. The ambiance of the restaurant had caught my eye earlier in the day and the restaurant was close to our hotel. We (myself, husband and 16 year old daughter) were seated promptly (we went in off peak dining hours) in the restaurant portion of Lucky Strike in a very charming bistro environment. Our server was friendly, prompt and courteous. He highlighted the specials of the day, one of which was the sea bass. I was not really wanting to spend $25 on an entree but decided to forgo a cocktail and splurge on the sea bass. I am glad I did. This was not a meal this was a fine dining taste experience. Truly one of the best meals I have EVER had. My daughter and husband had the pasta which they throughly enjoyed. On our way out we were asked about our experience and when I shared my love of the entree we were introduced to the adorable talented chef. It doesn't get much better than this, excellent food, ambiance and a caring attitude. Thank you Lucky Strike for our most memorable meal in NYC. We will be back on our next visit.

Tasty casual dining

Visited Lucky Strike for dinner and although it doesn’t look much from the outside, it’s really nice inside with a good vibe and very friendly. Plenty of choice on the menu and the food was delicious. We enjoyed our night here.

Great food and atmosphere

Happy to blow in here on a cold, wet night and we were tired and hungry. Good basic fare in moody lighting, very pleasant evening

Lovin' the tunes

By Lizzy_bach |

Stumbled on this place during our last night in NY.. If you like the Byrds, Queen,Muddy Waters and everything else from '63 to '83, you will love it. The music was an education, the drink was flowing and atmosphere cool yet unpretentious. We will be back

One of my favorites in NYC

By Travellinggirl71 |

It is sort of a tradition for me and my husband to eat here on the last day of our visit to New York. We have done this often. It is not a fancy place, has a "bar" feeling to it and the interior is a bit dated. But the food is great! I recommend the burger, the portobello sandwich, and the pasta.

Good Dive-y Bar

Ok but needs a little more

We stopped by for a drink after a long day. Drink was ok but all a bit tired and lacing that something extra. Maybe we hit a bad time but I think it needed something better on tap

New York classic

By LSKDevon |

Even on a quiet midweek lunchtime in SOHO this place has a really warm vibe. Relaxed and friendly staff, cool, laidback clientele and great food. I understand it has been there forever and maybe that's why it doesn't have that 'in your face', trying too hard thing going on that can be exhausting after a few days in New York. It's got the feel of a local community restaurant that consistently delivers great food and an enjoyable atmosphere - a place with heart as well as laidback style. I would go back again and again.

Solid!

By Nahi |

Every time I've gone to NYC (not as often as I'd like) I end up at some point at this place, whether for a bite or a beer, it's usually unplanned and just due to its convenient location (near my hotel) and both my wife and I agree that we love it. Food is good, nothing special but good, and service is honestly one of the best. Very casual and unpretentious, but this was the only place in the city, where when I asked the gentleman serving our table if he would like my credit card as we had already had some drinks and wanted to step out for a cigarette, told me there was no need! I was in shock that there was still someone out there who has faith in humanity. Good place, if you're in the area, go there, even if it's just for a beer.

Lunch was fantastic

Very welcoming staff who are very attentive to your needs. Good and cheap menu. Would recommend to anyone staying in lower manhattan

noisy in the extreme

By wywyno |

It was not our first time at this restaurant - which has a charming bistro style ambiance and good food - or it used to be good food, this time I don't know. On a busy Friday night, they were cranking the music so loud that we could not hear ourselves (we were a party of 5) and the waitress could not hear our orders. Menu is also bistro - steak frites, salads, mini pizzas, etc. We ordered, and then waited for about an hour - during which time we noticed that none of the diners around us had food either. Desperate flagging to the busboy brought our server around for a second round of drinks. She was nice, but not there much of the time. Food FINALLY arrived - and she had misheard our order (did I mention the blaring music?) so I did not get anything, but managed to nibble on the other 4 people's plates - Steak and frites were fine, but the other dishes were pretty bland and tasteless - pizza, crabcakes, spinach, and their special salad. They had a good bread pudding for dessert, and I was ready for anything after no meal. Kind of disappointing. In Manhattan, you expect a degree of loud ambient noise, but they made it worse by blaring the music - to the detriment of just about everything else.

great food

Has good gluten free options including the calamari! Great atmosphere, but it was a bit busy so service & slightly lacking.

Easy going

By Theetiquettorialist |

Just an easy going place to go for a fast lunch, kids friendly. Service is friendly and location is great should you be shopping around Mercer St. Low key and pub-like atmosphere. Nothing fabulous but burger is not bad.

moules frites

By hgssmith |

This is a great French bistro type place tucked in behind West Broadway in Soho. The steak au poive and the moules frites are great.

Tasty-but-Pricy Food, Terrible Service

By LaurenTravels |

Food was good but portions were very small. We waited for a server to approach the table we chose for 10 minutes and no one came. We decided we'd have more luck at the bar since the bartenders are right there. It was 5 minutes until we were acknowledged and got sporadic service for the duration of our visit. One of the bartenders was completely unfriendly and make us feel unwelcome.

Friendly atmosphere great food

By Saskia M |

Went here a couple of times during our New York visit and were impressed by the quality of the food in particular. We though it was good value and we found sitting at the bar was great for meeting people. Lively and fun atmosphere.

perfect place for lunch

We ducked into this restaurant while shopping in Soho. What a wonderful find, we will return. It is small and charming and the service was great. I had the steak frites and my husband had the tuna sandwich. The frites were perfect! We will be returning soon.

Best margaritas and fries

By 4boysdad412 |

We discovered this place about 8 years ago when we stopped by for lunch. We tried the jalapeño margarita and it became our favorite drink! The food is good too, particularly the fries. We make it a point to stop by for lunch almost every time we visit New York. I had the burger and fries this time and they was amazing. We love the feel and ambiance too. It is definitely worth the visit.
