Entertaining staff serving great food

By Sam F |

I went with people who knew the owner and it was fun from the moment we arrived. The owner's son served and was charming and very good at his job. The menu has excellent food on it in variety and not your standard fare. I had the veal kidneys in a cream sauce which was fabulous.

Really good Italian

By MCSCarmel |

Lovely old line UES Italian restaurant. Always know that the meal will be good. We had a plate of fried zucchini (how do you resist) a first of great grilled artichokes followed by perfectly pan roasted orata, one of my favorite fishes that you don't usually see in America. Beautiful dinner.

A most consistent Italian restaurant

Lusardi's is always very good. A neighborhood restaurant on the Upper Eastside, it consistently offers fine food and service time after time. It is always packed because along with quality, it offers fine value and service. Highly recommended.

Consistently Fine

By Mark S |

We have been going to this restaurant when we visit New York for over ten years. The space is comfortable and the food is great. Old school Italian done right. Pasta is fresh. The waiters are experienced, friendly and efficient. The owner walks around to make sure things are going well. What's not to like?

Like a Trip to Rome

By Judy W |

This is a VERY Italian restaurant. It reminded me of so many while I was in Rome! The staff all seems to speak Italian, for some at least their native language. The menu is diverse - a good selection of meat, fish, and pasta. We both had pasta and both dishes were exceptional. Our salads were also delicately seasoned. My husband chose a salad with fennel and artichoke hearts called a 'white' salad. My could have been called 'red' as it had both beets and tomatoes. My husband had a penne pasta with pomidoro sauce that he thought outstanding. I chose ravioli stuffed with spinach and wild mushrooms with a white truffle sauce. It too was outstanding. For dessert we shared a delicate lemon creme brulee. Service was attentive but not rushed. Our taxi was delayed in traffic and we called to say we would be late. We were told we had the table for two hours - appropriate timing for a Saturday night. The restaurant was pleasantly filled. it was obvious there many regulars - a good sign.

Elegant Italian

Service was excellent and food quite good in the Northern Italian style. The setting is beautiful and serene. Excellent help with the wine list. Staff seems mostly Italian, which added to the ambiance.

restored my faith in honor and integrity

It was a typical NYC day until we stepped into Lusardi's and found we had been swept by a magic carpet to Italy, into someone's home and warmly greeted by a family we had never met. We were there to celebrate friends' 46th anniversary. We got there early so we could order a bottle of champagne to toast them. Several minutes later, the wine steward came to tell my husband very apologetically, he was out of that particular bottle of wine, but he had ordered another one that would not disappoint. In his quiet way he indicated it was double the price, but he would be giving it to us at the same price as the one my husband had selected. When does this ever happen ? He insisted it was only right since he was the wine steward and it was his job to ensure the stock offered on the menu was available. His choice was exquisite. The food was exquisite. It was a most wonderful evening. It was so lovely that in a world gone haywire, there is still a place that values doing the right thing. They have made two new customers for the rest of our lives. Thank you Restaurant Lusardi.

Just amazing!

By Eddie NYC |

My wife and I have been dying to come here. We finally made it today. It is absolutely amazing! The food was perfect. In general, the restaurant looks like it doesn’t hold back in any area - it is high end all around not cutting any corners. But to me, where that matters the most is in the food quality, and my goodness this place didn’t let down. We had two apps and two entrees, and I rarely say this, but neither of us had one bad thing to say. That’s seriously rare, and the reason for the five stars. My wife had the veal that was just so tender and mixed unbelievably well with the creamy mix is it cooked in. There must have been 40-50 things going on in that mix, and everything was so subtle where nothing was overpowering. I had the rabbit, and I thought it was phenomenal. This place is just fantastic, and we cannot wait to go back.

Small neighorhood jewel

By Oakleaf1950 |

A friend who lives in the area recommended Lusardi's and even though the temperature was a frigid 16 degrees, we journeyed 20 blocks uptown to this special Northern Italian restaurant. The service was attentive; the food was perfectly seasoned and presented. Luis selected a rich red wine to accompany my salmon and pasta. My only suggestion is to spread the the tables out a bit. They were so close together that we could hear the entire conversation of the three people sitting right next to us.

Delectable Italian fare on the UES!

By Bi-coaster |

This old world Italian is an oasis of delicious food. My spouse and I shared the cacio pepe which had the lovely addition of zucchini strips on top. Superb! I also loved my John Dory crusted in almonds over sautéed spinach, while my spouse enjoyed the chicken breast with black truffle sauce. It was a lovely meal!

Excellent in Every Way

A friend recommended this restaurant to us and I am so glad we decided to go there. The service and food were outstanding in every way. I will go back next time I am in NYC.

Good tipical Americanized Italian. Tasty, good portions, homey feel, good welcoming and attentive service.

Great Find on the Upper East Side

By Michael |

Had dinner with a client here and I have to say, it was fantastic! This isn’t a tourist attraction, but it was full of locals so you know it had to be decent. The service is excellent. The drinks are great. The appetizers and main dishes were all well prepared and presented nicely. You could tell the pasta is fresh. The dessert menu is more than ample and the atmosphere is charming. Great place to eat! It’s a couple minutes north of midtown by cab, but well worth it if you’re in Manhattan (78th and 2nd).

Gets better every time

By JB5445 |

This restaurant has become one of my favorites in Manhattan. Delivers excellent food, great service and NY vibe. We split the Linguini All’ Ammeriraglia and the San Pietro fish dish with John Dory fish. Both of these dishes were terrific and our Server Dino had them beautifully split and presented for us. On each of my trips to NY I try to have dinner there at least once.

Great Restaurant with no tourists.

I have been to Lusardi's on several occasions and it just gets better every time.

Old standby where quality food never disappoints and many older regulars reign

By sgottlieb51 |

We like the one in Larchmont better but take family in NY to the NYC one. Typically the service is great but on this Saturday we were laden with a server who was in a word, "lost". He never even returned to our table once to pour the wine, which was chilling about 4 ft. from our table. I had to ask the Maître D and another waiter that we hailed. It was still very tasty and well prepared but tainted the over all experience..

What A Crowd!!

By Yorkiemom520 |

Took my friend out for her birthday. Have never eaten at Luscardi's but have passed it so many times. We were sated mmediately and wait staff were very helpful. We both ordered wine and bread was brought to our table. Waiter went over the many specials and asked if we had any questions. (We had none)My friend ordered the caprese salad and the veal special . (Roasted veal with potatoes) I ordered the burrata special and my main entree was sautéed calf's liver. My calf's liver was cooked to perfection but this is the first Tme I have ever had the liver cut in small pieces. We also were serve zucchini in a tomatoe sauce very tasty. My friend enjoyed her veal and it was not over cooked. Restaurant became very crowded and noise level was high. We finished our meal with coffee and ic cream. Be prepared to spend approximately $80.00-$100.00 per person if you are ordering drinks, appetizer, main entree and dessert. This does not include tip. Dining experience was very lovely and I will be back. Be prepared for a crowd and reservations are a must.

Dinner with Kate and Erik

Excellent food and service. I had possibly the best piece of fish I have ever eaten. A little on the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion

A True Evergreen

By Mel_Paris |

A true evergreen … great food; highly professional service; extensive, but reasonable wine list. My wife was early so had a glass of wine at the bar. The bartender was delightful. Our 8:00 PM reservation was honored within 10-minutes when we were shown to a nice table toward the rear of the restaurant. A very nice dark bread and a very tasty oil were served shortly after we were seated. The waiter arrived shortly thereafter with menus and a wine list. He recited the specials and gave us time to consider our choices. Two of us ordered the special appetizer appetizers: thinly sliced Italian sausage on a bed of fresh vegetables; a creamy buratta cheese over a bed of tomatoes. The others ordered from the menu: Insalata Bianca, a fresh salad of endive, fennel, mushrooms, artichokes and hearts of palm, shaved parmigiano cheese and lemon dressing; and, Insalata Piemontese, a salad of fresh greens, fresh pear, walnuts, truffle oil, lemon, and truffle cheese. For our principal plates were varied our choices: a Bronzini (Mediterranean sea bass) served on a bed of greens; a special for the evening, gnocchi stuffed with butternut squash; spaghetti with clams; and, Coniglio Alla Cacciatora, chunks of rabbit cooked with white wine, tomato sauce, fresh herbs, pearl onions and chanterelle mushrooms, served with fresh polenta. Each diner was impressed with the quality of the food and with its preparation. Don’t look for the exquisite three-dimensional presentations of the trendier restaurant. Lusardi’s depends on its cooking and the quality of it ingredients. Desserts were shared: cream caramel and tiramisu. Almost more than four spoons could handle. Our Argentinian waiter was attentive and professional. One of the owners recommended a very appropriate Sicilian wine, Nero d’Avola. The price was so reasonable that we had two bottles. While the restaurant was full, there was no cacophonous, tunga-tunga music assaulting the diners… only the sound of mature customers enjoying a lovely dinner. The pace held at a lovely rate with no pressure from bus persons attempting to pick up plates before all diners at the table had completed their dish. If you are an adult looking for a lovely Italian restaurant, don’t miss Lusardi’s. Trendy yuppies looking for the next "in" trendy restaurant, should search elsewhere.

Best meal in NYC

By JudesLuxuryTravel |

I was worried when I could not reserve on "Open Table" and had to call the restaurant (so old school!). I shouldn't have been. I even changed the reservation the night before and they were ready on time when we arrived. The service here is attentive and efficient. Every diner had perfectly prepared food, exactly what they ordered and described on the menu. I had lamb shanks that were tender and delicious. Nothing was over salted. My favorite was the Carciofi Alla Romana (grilled artichokes). They were made with lemon, olive oil and rosemary. My only regret is they open at 4 pm today and I can't have them for breakfast. Cannot wait to return. #HaveAyummyDay

Pleasant but not much more

By Oliver S |

On the way back from the Met, we cross East all the way to Second avenue, headed for Mediterraneo, a preferred Italian spot of ours. The weather being very pleasant, we are walking and run into Lusardi's. The ivory colored linen tablecloths and shining tableware catch our attention and we decide to give it a try for a very late lunch/early diner. Lunch starts pleasantly enough with the opening of a chilled bottle of Prosecco Cogneliano ($40) and a shared Caprese. I have serious doubts that the mozzarella lives up to the "Bufala" the menu describes, but I let it go. Basil is missing as well. I wish that Chefs describe their dishes more in detail on the menu, especially when they are using names everybody knows and associates with something (like, Caprese, is fresh tomatoes, mozzarella di Bufala, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil). Notice, there is no mention of the sweet glazed concoction surround my Caprese today. For main course we get spaghetti with seafood (sauce too heavy, butter/cream and flour I guess) and tagliateli integralli (whole wheat) cooked with fresh tomatoes and delicious. They have Tartuffo, one of the rare sweets (ice cream in chocolate) that can get me to have dessert and it arrives with complimentary biscotti accompanied by a cherry liquor dip. Our waiter is personified attention and courtesy, but his sub manages to poor some bubbly atop the bread. We should have gone to Mediterraneo.

Excellent, traditional Italian restaurant with exceptional service and value

By Bill J |

Exceptional service with large wait and support staff. Clearly white linen establishment with exclusively male waiters. Broad menu done very well over the 5 meals we had. Broad menu selection with some rare Italian wines available. Especially liked the Paccheri in salsa affunicata as a vegetarian. Other vegetarian dishes though this is not a vegetarian restaurant by any means. Tartufo dessert was also notable.

An Amazing Upper East Side Restaurant

By Maureen H |

We can not say enough wonderful things about this Italian restaurant. The restaurant is small in size but feels spacious and comfortable. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for many years. It is truly a special neighborhood gem. The food is always near perfect. Pasta with clam sauce is probably the best anywhere. When veal is on the menu it is sublime. The service is efficient and very friendly. The owners and manager are usually there to greet everyone. The desserts, if you have room left and you should, are always special.

Traditional New York neighborhood restaurant

By Richard L |

When you walk in your warmly greeted by both staff and the very traditional setting. It all feels very comfortable and relaxing, raising your spirits for the evening. Although small with tables close, the acoustics are perfect and dinner conversation can be heard by all. The menu also is classic Italian and prepared perfectly. Our table of 4 all had different dishes which were excellent. Service very good.

Save the airfare...authentic Italian on the Upper East Side

By mikey48 |

We chose Lusardi's more on location than any other factor although reviews on Open Table were generally positive. It was a family get together of seven people. Our reservation was for 6PM but NYC traffic on Veteran's Day had us straggling in by 6:15. Just a few tables occupied at that time and we were seated immediately. The menu is extensive with a few off menu specials (including a white truffle pasta...appetizer $75, entree $105). The waiter made a point of informing us of the price. In short the food was spectacular, the service excellent and a very complete selection of wines at all price points. My coniglio (braised rabbit) was superb, pasta dishes perfectly al dente, excellent John Dory and veal parm. Appetizers varied including a wonderful roasted artichoke, buratta salad and many more. Dessert was simply the best ricotta cheesecake I have ever had. The restaurant filled up during the course of our meal but at no time did we feel rushed. The crowd appeared to be a fair cross section of the UES...generally older and well dressed. The space itself is a bit tight when crowded but that only adds to the ambience. In a word...authentic. Not unlike dozens of restaurants I've been to in Italy. Save the airfare...but definitely worth a taxi ride.

Wonderful experience

By ceedah59 |

We met friends from Arizona at Lusardi's. A friend of mine told me about the restaurant because her son lives in the area and highly recommended them. Our party of 5 was graciously received and, because we arrived early, we were able to also enjoy the excellent service at the bar up front while we waited for our table. Every staff member we encountered was ready with a warm greeting and a ready smile and carried on conversations with us as time permitted. We never felt rushed or unwelcome in any way. The food was amazing and cooked as we requested it to be done. They even provided a dish of Fettucini Alfredo for our friends' son, even though it was not on the menu. He declared it was the best he had ever had! The waitstaff was extremely attentive but we never felt that they were hovering over us. Thank you all for a very wonderful evening.

Great Italian food in a friendly atmosphere

By Jeff E |

The food here is wonderful. My dinner companions has the beet salad and said it was delicious. At the next table, the fried calamari was crisp without being oily. The softshell crabs were a special and consisted of two large crabs done very well. My wife said her branzino was delicious and I had a chicken dish with garlic, artichoke hearts, mushrooms and rosemary in a light sage sauce; also very good. I also had a side portion of linguini with red sauce. The service was great and the owners made it a point to say hello to all the patrons. Definitely will return.

Authentic Food, Calm Atmosphere

By Scott D |

Portions sizes are really good. A great menu lineup, and calm and comforting atmosphere. The service was excellent and I never had to ask for a refill. This is more for the "older crowd", and the trendy type may find it old fashioned, but I really enjoyed it here.

East side eatery

By char1scott |

We were there on Valentine's day so it was very busy. Overall the food was good. Pricey specials. Did not receive wine ordered with dinner and we were a bit ignored for part of the service but the food matters most.

Good Italian

Visited with a friend that lives nearby. Nice atmosphere and good service. Dishes we had were good not great. Nice neighborhood restaurant in convenient location. They also have smaller portions available of certain dishes which is a plus.

An excellent Italian restaurant

another restaurant recommended by a nationally known surgeon; not as large a room as Nino's but more intimate; excellent food and service. This is also a top-rated restau- rant.

An Italian Favorite for More than 25 years

By Carl S |

Always a Lusardi on hand to be certain that the service, atmosphere and food are at the highest level near perfection. One of many on the Upper East Side managed by these brothers that please the palate and always smile when you arrive to dine. A constant pleasure worth your visit.

Excellent East Side Italian

By Andiell |

I enjoyed Lusardi's. Good, hearty Italian food in a cozy atmosphere. We started with the appetizer special - sautéed artichokes. Outstanding. We then split the Dover Sole entrée. It was moist and delicate, with a simple butter and wine sauce. We will return.

An excellent Italian experience

By Jack F |

8 of us dined at a round table for dinner. The wait staff is excellent and the food is outstanding. The decor is like so many Italian restaurants in the city. It is frequented by regulars who live in the surrounding area. I have been here before but would not hesitate to return again and again.

One of the best for a family dinner

By Bobo3107 |

This family owned restaurant is near our daughter and has become our favorite in NYC. Daniel and Bouland are great, but Lusardi's has that something that only a neighborhood upscale restaurant can offer. Try the angel hair pasta with truffles- you will order it every time you come back.

One of my favorite old upper east side Italian's

By SwitzerNYC |

Typical, upper east side fine Italian dining. I come here whenever in town as it's in my old neighborhood and has consistently good food. Love the Veal Milanese.

Great Meal

By Paul B |

Grabbed a quick dinner after a train ride to Larchmont. Wonderful meal, service and atmosphere. Will certainly visit again.

Top home cooking

By Sandra D |

We were lucky , their dishes of the day were fegato a la veneziana , and veal kidneys , a challenge to find , and both were delicious ,supplemented by a most unusual white wine from Calabria Timpa : I think it would satisfy those who only swear by Chardonnay and those who swear by sauvignon blanc

Excellent food and very good value

By ianjrose1 |

Pasta very good by New York standards Pistachio Tart excellent as was the baked Artichoke. Staff and service also good.

Best Italian on the Upper Eastside?

By robcurtross |

Many regulars seem to think so, and we certainly enjoyed an excellent meal here. My homemade ravioli filled with wild mushrooms, spinach and fontina cheese, in a light truffle sauce was excellent, and a lightly braised barzino was perfectly cooked. Service was very proper; effusion seems to be reserved for true regulars. The interior room is beautifully designed and decorated, and there are a number of tables outside, also very well arranged. The wine list is quite good and not too expensive by New York City standards. The premises are clean, including the men's room. My guess is coming more regularly would enhance the dining experience as the wait staff began to recognize you.

As good as ever for excellent Northern Italian food on the Upper East Side

By Paul C |

We had another great dinner at Lusardi's a few days ago. One of us had their famous veal martini which is always a favorite and I had the rack of lamb. The lamb was as good as the best I have had, tender and perfectly cooked medium rare. We had a bottle of a super tuscan wine recommended by the maitre de which did not disappoint. One of the nice touches at Lusardi's is that they are always happy to help recommend a good wine but their suggestions always represent good value, not the most expensive items on the list. We really appreciate that.

Fabulous Italian on the upper East Side

By parisbt |

What a great restaurant. The food was excellent. Full of people and the staff were very nice. We had the Veal Martini which was pan fried veal with a lemon sauce that was incredible! The pasta was excellent as well. I highly recommend it if you are up on the upper East side!

They never get it wrong

By Jack G |

I have to admit up front, I love this place. No, it will never be the best restaurant in New York City and maybe not even the Upper East Side but it is my favorite place to go with friends and family for a celebration or just a night out. It is consistent and if it is a celebration they never forget the celebration. They are just right every time. The food is very good and listen for the specials because they are oftentimes great. Yes, menu may seem limited compared to some places but don't hold that against them as they are a good restaurant, not a diner with lots of selections that are at best average in quality. Go and enjoy.

Fine Traditional Italian

By BunkyVA |

Our last visit to Lusardi's was about 20 years ago. It's still great. A real buzz to this place. It was packed and everyone was having a great time. Older crowd when we got there and younger when we left. Pastas, salads, bread, veal dishes and seafood - all excellent. Wait staff very friendly & accommodating. Wine list is good and moderately priced for NYC. A Morrelino for $45 was excellent. This place has figured it out and you can't go wrong here.

Overpriced, overcooked, - DO NOT BOTHER!!!

By Jan |

Appetizers and main courses were awful ALL the dishes were overcooked, dried out and buried in sauce

The mozzarella cheese is to die for!!!

By Passion222 |

This place is very quaint and staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is of very good quality and flavor. The Mozzarella with avocado was heavenly...their pasta is so fresh. The portions are on the small side but taste made up for that. A little pricy for amount you get but again..quality. Our Sauvignon Blanc was excellent. The lemon brûlée was a little too sweet for me but was tasty. At the end of our meal the service got slow and our waiter took forever to get back to us. He was a very nice man though. Made our experience a good one besides that part. Highly recommend if you like good Italian food

Lovely Meal

By MagsE |

Six of us dined at Lusardi's recently; it is not a very big restaurant so our table was a tight fit. The menu was interesting and the food very good - as was the attentive service. It helped that the friends we were with were so much fun!

Excellent Northern Italian on UES

By Paul C |

Lusardi's never disappoints. One of the very best Northern Italian restaurants in NYC. The owners are always on hand to greet you and even remember where you like to sit if you are a regular. The wait staff is polished yet very friendly. They know the food and are ready to make recommendations of food and wine. The service is the best all around of any Italian on the UES. The food is reliably excellent. You should always consider the specials but if you cannot make up your mind, the veal martini is their iconic dish.

Hurry Up

By I just sorta know |

If based on food alone this would be a 4 star - but service was weak - asked for water several times never came - pacing of courses very off - waiters were buzzing around but not efficient - reception was weak - tried to hurry us through meal

Highly Recommend

By DEG365 |

First time here. Among the best American-Italian dining experiences I've had. Cozy, warm, (it was freezing out) attentive service, nice menu, plenty of specials, no attitude, good lighting,...Real neighborhood joint. I had the special soup, Potato with Porcini, because it was so cold out. Normally, I wouldn't order soup at an Italian restaurant. It was delicious. Ordered the special Spaghetti with Meatballs. It was one of the best I've had. Perfectly cooked pasta. Not too much sauce. Excellent, light meatballs. I tried everyone else's food. All delicious. The broccoli rabe was too god. Not salty or, bitter. The Cacio e Pepe was O-K...could have been better. Can't wait to go back.

BORING!

By Ann608 |

We lost interest inner dinner early on. Nothing special, nothing new, nothing inventive. I could cook this at home!

Good Food, Great Service - Classic New York Still Rocks

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

Lusardi's serves really good Italian food. You want truffles (in season)? They got truffles. It's a reliable place that way. They also are what might be called "old school." The waiters are real waiters not college students temping for the summer. No waiters in jeans. Instead, black pants and white jackets. The way things should be. Nothing formal, just classy. Classy and warmly welcoming. You had the feeling that the staff had been waiting all week just for you to arrive. The dining room is comfortable and relaxing. On the night we visited, the restaurant was full - and I mean totally full - of happy diners, from romantic young couples to families to business partners to a classic older couple in the corner, presumably at the same table they have enjoyed for years and years. Lusardi's is that kind of place. Simply put, it's Old New York in the very best ways. We will be back soon. After all, they are waiting for us and we get hungry for good food regularly.

Old World Italian Charm

By Victoria T |

From start to finish a great experience. Food was excellent and the staff are very helpful and recommended really good food and wines. At the end of the night, we realized we were the only party left, and we were told not to rush, everything was fine! Would definitely go back!

Always good!

By Jack F |

We dined here once again as it has become one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants in the city. The food is typical Italian and it was served by Italian waiters, who could not have been more expert in their service.

as advertised!

By william w |

Early dinner. Welcoming and attentive staff. Good Italian menu, terrific Italian wine list. Location is convenient to walking if staying on Upper Eastside. Quality was just OK; portions good size. Would return again!

Charming in every way!

By dinnerand |

We met a friend for dinner and it was so wonderful. (I had already made reservations for Christmas Eve for our family gathering) but wanted to check it out...absolutely enjoyed every minute. The service is spectacular and the food is divine. Very low-key, old world ambiance and we're looking forward to the next visit.

TRUFFLES FRESHLY SHAVEN

By Gina A |

This is one of my favorite restaurants and I'm a food snob so please. Take me seriously when I advise to make a reservation for a special night or just a regular night where you're feeling particularly ravenous for decadence and quality, old school Italian food, music, ambiance and staff... who, by the way, always made me feel like the most special guest any and every night I showed up for dinner.

Loved this restaurant!!

By JB5445 |

First time dining experience. Loved everything about it. Food was great. Service was superb and we will be back! Recommend it highly

Very Good Italian

By Rockrolex |

Very good Italian. The Caprese was very good as an appetizer, as was the Vitello alla Parmigiana as the main. The pasta with truffes looked wonderful. Next time I may want to try the Fegato alla Veneziana. The room is nice looking and comfortable. The tables re nicely spaced, allowing for comfortable table conversation.

excellent traditional italian

By annbury |

We have been to Lusardi's several times, often with friends or relatives. The food is fresh and well prepared, although somewhat traditional. This is a popular spot with the moneyed classes of the upper east side, so one needs a reservation and the prices are not low. The service is excellent.I would have whatever specials are available, especially the pastas.

Old School UES Italian

By moschofilero |

Elegant host, room buzzing with staff, full on a rainy Saturday night in the middle of summer. We had lovely San Daniele prosciutto with figs, a delicious interpretation of Cacio Pepe with zucchini and copious warming yet subtle pepper; homemade pasta had the welcome al dente bite. Then a fresh and bright John Dory & Vittelo Milanese. They added a plate of zucchini - a nice touch when a resto gives you something unexpected from the kitchen. The food was lovely, the wine list good and not over priced. Didn't love the tartuffo dessert, but really didn't need dessert either!

Great Value and excellent food......dont be put off by location if you are not a New Yorker

By Out on the tiles. |

Excellent all round professionally cooked Italian food. As good as you'll get in NYC for the price.Well managed...well presented and tasty food. I ate the venison that was as good an Italian dish as I have had.

Amazing food and ambience and service

By MasonNeckTraveler |

We were trying to go to Rao's but had no luck getting in. Just as well. This restaurant had such bether ambience and the staff was friendly and the food and drinks were amazing. So glad we did our resarch.

Best of the rest...

By NYCJake |

You can go downtown, uptown, midtown or Brooklyn and you won't find any better Italian food in the big apple. The neighbors know it too, so be sure to make a reservation and prepare for a crowd and once in a while a short wait. Come for the food and the lively atmosphere and the friendly, but efficient service. The waiters, bus boys, maitre d's and bar statt all pitch in. Typical of the best Italian food, it is seasonal, fresh and nicely presented. Some portions are generous enough to share, but the waiter will confirm. If you decide to share, they will divide the portions -- without being asked -- a nice touch, and less frequent these days. At Lusardi's, they will even divide the second glass of wine and since it's a generous pour of good quality wine, you will want that second glass. Listen carefully to the specials and consider them. They represent the best of the season. If you want a quieter meal, just go early. Otherwise prepare for the noise that comes with a friendly, cheerful crowd of all ages, enjoying a night out.

An Upper Eastside delight and permanently on our 'List.'

By Augusthelmsman |

We always go to NYC in late November, which is probably a challenging time for restaurants and hotels, because the city is crowded and there's a sense of impatience underlying the holiday cheer. But then, in all the madness, you have the good fortune to discover a place like Lusardi's, where you are obviously welcome, caringly attended and deliciously provided for. Speaking as tourists, but ones who travel to NYC annually in part for the Italian fare, everything was delicious, generous, warm and served completely for the course. The standout for my wife was the Tortelli Tartufala (sp?), whic was like a ravioli filled with mushrooms, spinach and a mild creamy cheese. For me, the killer was the 'Caciccio de Pesce' which is Lusardis claim as an Italian 'bouillabase.' DELICIOUS... like a 'cioppino or frutti di mare' but with a tantalizing broth that you want to have every day for the rest of your life. All in All... thanks Lusardi's & see you next November!

Excellent

By ajricca |

No words can describe how great the food is here. All I can say is my wife and I taste buds were in heaven.

Italian perfection on UES

By thepickytourist |

Lusardi's is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. From the super friendly host to the impeccable service to the amazing food- everything was great. The salad was perfect- which is hard to get anywhere in the winter, and the homemade wild mushroom, spinach and fontina cheese ravioli in a light truffle sauce are literally to die for. The wine list is fantastic and the martinis from the bar are delicious. If you're in the mood for Italian and anywhere near the UES this is the BEST place!

End of year dinner

By Olga S |

This is a cozy beautiful place! the food was amazing! from the appetizers to coffee and dessert. It was 20 of us including a toddler and the service was immaculate. Staff was attentive and pleasant. You need a reservation. There is plenty of street parking and they also have a parking lot across the street. I would deffenitely will visit this resturant if I am in town again

Great first-timer

By Tom A |

I've had many, many really good Italian meals and this was one of them. It started with what was singularly THE BEST salad I have ever eaten. Great pasta dishes (I am a vegetarian, so I know pasta!). Just OK bread. Good to very good desserts. Good espresso. One of NY's most reasonable wine lists with no shortage of good wines under $50. Staff was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and Italian speaking is always nice to hear. Highly recommended.

Back in Italy!

By disneybabes |

From the first taste of the bread in the olive oil (the freshest I've had stateside) my taste buds were transported back to our trip to Italy 5 years earlier. We had been told this was an authentic restaurant, and indeed it was! The host and wait staff were incredibly attentive and although I read reviews of slow service, we found it leisurely and we we in no hurry for it to end. They have a good wine selection and the Almond crusted fish was divine, pasta amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the special treat, biscotti and "holy water". We had lemoncello to too things off. This will surely be a repeat visit when we come back to the city!

Business dinner with long time client

By dashdoggy |

Had dinner here for the first time with a client that lives on the UES of Manhattan. Great Italian food and wine. The whole wheat tagliatelle was home made and delicious served in a simple tomato ragu. I went old school and had the veal parm. The menu had many more choices- classics like chick scarpiello as well as venison and rabbit dishes. House Barolo was great too as was service. Very good dining experience. Would return.

Good food. Good service. Reasonably priced What else could u ask for. And they don't try to push u out for the turnover.

Great food had the lamb chops , delicious Pasta dishes , very attentively staff , amazing service love it. Small and cozy atmosphere definitely I will ve back . Highly recommend it

Disappointing

By savedave |

I was looking forward to going to Lusardi's because of the great things I'd read, and Zagat had given it a 25, so I was excited. Well, talk about your dashed hopes. Who thinks this stuff tastes good? The food had so little flavor I could barely taste it and the service was rude. Our little waiter actually frowned and looked pissed when one of us ordered an appetizer instead of an entree. And thank god she did, because the dishes had all the flavor of dorm food. You'll find better food at Mediterraneo on 66th and 2nd...and a much more festive ambiance.

Expensive but to be expected for a restaurant of this standard in NYC

By PlanesTrainsAutos09 |

Really enjoyed a wonderful meal with family and friends in this wonderful restaurant recently. Quite expensive but this is only to be expected in NYC in a restaurant of this standard. It came recommended by family who live close by and who dine here more frequently than I would .... it is a favourite of theirs so I was really looking forward to it ... certainly lived up to the recommendation. Staff excellent and the food is also - I loved it

Neighborhood restaurant can compete wit the very finest

By bukfenc |

Lusardi's is an upper east side institution, favored by an older, very sophisticated clientele. The guests tend to be world travelers who are both knowledgeable and demanding. Include my wife and me as belonging to this discerning club. It is therefor with the highest standards in mind that we recommend this always reliable, always friendly and always wonderful restaurant. The food is superb and spans the tastes of grandparents as well as grandchildren. The wines and service are excellent, though the tables can be a bit crowded - a sure sign of success. The owners not only greet the guests at the door but oversee every course-any concerns are immediately addressed; any requests are sure to be filled. In a city where wonderful new restaurants are announced weekly (and often closed before yearend), this reliable and superb restaurant remains a treasure. Go try it. You will go home with smiles and stories.

Excellent

By Mark S |

Excellent experience from cocktails through dessert. The service was perfect; attentive but not fussy. The server made a great recommendation for wine which was delicious and reasonably priced by New York standards. We ended up getting a second bottle to split among the 4 of us. The food also was first rate. Great flavors, authentic dishes. Seafood with pasta, sausage with spinach and fingerling potatoes, veal piccata and linguine vongale were all outstanding. We rarely have dessert but tartufo and pistachio tart were all delicious. We can't wait to go back.

Great Food

By Virtus |

My sisters and I dined at Lusardi's last weekend. It was really crowded and we had about a 30 minute wait for our table in spite of having a reservation, but it was worth the wait. We all loved our entrees! The only negative comment is that we noticed that a group who sat down after we were seated were waited on first and got their food before we did. We felt this was rude but again, the food was top notch!

Best ravioli anywhere!

By John Goodman |

Outstanding Italian, with the best ravioli I've ever had - original, sophisticated, exciting! Don't miss this.

Wonderful Evening

By jdsbiz98 |

this was her first visit to the saris as we were meeting friends at New York City and they recommended this place. They have a little bar area as you walk in to have a quick drink before your seated. The dining area is tight and it is noisy, but that's part of the appeal of the Lusardis. The food that I ordered was outstanding. I had the Tartufella alla Piastra which is seared truffled goat cheese on a bed of baby arugola. shaved pears, seedless grapes and toasted almond flakes in lemon truffle dressing. My meal was Vitello Martini - Veal encrusted in parmigiano, sautéed with white wine and lemon. It was by far the best Veal I've ever had in my life. Finished off the evening with the raspberry tart for dessert and swore that I would be going back to Lusardi's as soon as I could.

Gracious Owner

By Bus Stopper J |

There are Italian restaurants then there are superb Italian restaurants and this is the latter. We split a salad of seared goat cheese sprinkled with truffle oil over Arugala with almonds and poached pears. I had veal encrusted with Parmesan cheese and my wife had ravioli in a light trufflesauce. We split a pear tart for desert. This wasn't a spaghetti and meatball joint. The flavors are of the Emila Romana region of Italy. The wait staff were professional and I liked the fact that they gave prices of the specials for the evening. Mr Lucardi came to the table and we chatted about my father's home town in Italy. There were so many interesting items on the menu a return trip is in the future. Can't go wrong in this place!

Absolutely amazing!

By kkmhotelie |

Mauro and Texan are the most charming hosts, Claudio is an uber-talented chef and the staff are all wonderful. The buzz is always electrifying and visits magical and memorable!

UES Gem For Pasta Lovers

By mookie61 |

Old school in the best sense of the phrase. Impeccable service and very good food at this east side institution. Don’t ignore the daily specials, though they do tend to be higher priced that the regular entrees. Wines are well chosen but not extensive. This is a bustling place- so know ahead of time that while the food is top notch, it may be difficult to hear your companions.

Great Italian Food and well known restaurant

By Y8707YBdavid |

We spent a week in New York and covered a big area for site seeing and eating. Our first evening with friends we were invited to Lusardi's and the food was great Italian like Alvaro did in London at La Famiglia in Chelsea. The bar and restaurant was full as always and a reservation is necessary. Highly recommended

Sophisticated Italian Restaurant on the Upper East Side

By Eileen C |

We had a great dining experience at this small Italian restaurant. The veal martini was amazing. Very tender lightly breaded veal in a lemon sauce. I was tempted to lick the plate. My husband's salmon was superb. My appetizer with goat cheese, arugula, pears and almonds was beautifully prepared and delicious. Service was warm and helpful.

Warm intimate dinner on a blustery cold night

By Kathy P |

We were a table of six there for a birthday celebration. Cocktails first at the table and weren't rushed to order...the service was impeccable. Our appetizers ranged from soup, salad, pasta, calamari, all delicious. I had the pan sautéed chunks of chicken with fresh artichokes and peppers. Mushrooms were also part of the dish but I asked for it without, which was no problem at all. It was sooooooo delicious that I didn't stop eating, though I was full (portions are generous). There is a nice wine list and we were happy with the duck Horn Merlot and Sonoma Chardonnay ordered which were priced reasonably. Overall, it was a delightful evening made even more special by being here.

Please, just go, don’t hesitate.

By Cici R |

No matter what you have to make some time to go and have one of the best culinary experiences you’ll get. It’s not just the uber delicious food…the place, the people…they make you feel like you’re just sitting in one of your best friends home and then you have the most amazing dinner ever, again amongst friends. We just got there on time and in a few minutes the place was packed and we could hear the phone continuosly ringing and the very polite manager declining the reservations of an already full agenda. We loved it and truly enjoyed our evening. Thanks a lot for this service, the food and the experience. For sure coming soon.

A nice location there is a lot to be improved.

By Yosef L |

one of many italian restaurants in newyork .food very average in reality everything is fresh but it does not taste as any thing italian it's missing the right seasoning .the price is reasonable but as we say you get what you pay and for than very expansive.

Always a must visit when in NYC: elegant Italian

I never tire of Lusardi’s. Great staff and my favorite dishes are always available. Classic NYC fine Italian eatery. Older crowd and crowded, but worth it.

Wonderful

Ate here Saturday night with 8 people. Everyone loved their food. I had the veal martini which is the signature dish...as good as they say... Most people had branzino or calamari...everyone walked away happy. Great service

Very good northern Italian food and excellent friendly service. Fun and delicious, definitely recommend... they honor reservations !

Excellent Italian in an Old World setting

By nutrinut |

We had the most delicious lunch in a delightful cozy setting. Our appetizers were delicious- the prosciutto arugula truffle salad is to die for. The lobster bisque was rich and thick, the Dory with almond was cooked to perfection. We'd go back again!

Nice little place on the upper east side.

By mark j |

Very good, but a little pricey for what you get. I would return though, to try other dishes. Service was excellent, But they could have spared more bread, it was only four slices for two people, and I like to sweep up the sauce from my pasta.

My Favorite Surprise whenever I'm inNYC

By dennis g |

I have gone to Lusardi's with a friend of mine whenever I make it back to NYC. Took a trip to NYC & wanted to eat at Lusardi's. Jimmy was our server & it could not have been a better meal.Started with the eggplant Parm. This is done in a way that I have not had anywhere else taste amazing. The POLLO SCARPARIELLO is something that my friend made me taste after me arguing why. I get it every time now. My wife was the same as me. Than after tasting it she wanted to make reservations for New Years even though we were booked somewhere else. I highly recommend Lusardi's.

The best for a relaxing dinner with friends

By Bobo3107 |

Terrific ambiance and service. The truffle pasta is memorable. The staff go out of their way to please. This is our "go to" place on the upper east side.

Really Good Italian in Upper East Side

By PSGumby |

Lusardi's is one of those restaurants that you can easily pass by. It is long and narrow so that it has small exposure on Second Avenue. It has been there for years, so for New Yorkers it is easy to ignore. But it is a treat and should not be missed. Lusardi's has great food, really nice ambience and is a great place for an evening with friends - tables are placed far enough apart to be conducive to good conversation while eating excellent food. The menu is creative and the service is excellent. Appetizers are excellent - love their grilled artichokes and their salads. Pastas are light and delicious. I love the ravioli filled with wild mushrooms, spinach and fontina cheese; it has a light truffle sauce that I cannot get enough of. Salmon and other fish are first rate and meats are fine. It is the kind of restaurant where if you don't see what you want they will try to make it for you. There is a nice, reasonably priced wine list and desserts are good. It is not inexpensive, but I like to take good friends and clients there because it is comfortable, relatively quiet and very grown up.

White table cloth service for lovely Italian fare!

By Bi-coaster |

With white tablecloths, dark furnishings, and skilled waiters, Lusardi’s delivers fine Italian cuisine at a price. We especially enjoyed the rigatoni pasta to start lightly and delicately sauced followed by lemon sole with saffron mashed potatoes and the veal Martini. Sliced zucchini with a bit of tomato paste was the accompanying veggie. The menu has many tempting items and we look forward to a return visit.

Disappointing

By Rubyrex |

I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past but on a recent visit the seafood dish I had was tasteless and I should have returned it, and the service was mediocre. We had to try to flag down the waiter because he rarely came by and no one else did either.

Quiet, comfortable Italian on Upper East Side

By petlady1 |

When we're in NYC, we always take my elderly cousin out for dinner one night. She is in her 80's and lives uptown, so we try to find a place that isn't too far, is relatively quiet and low key, but with good food that isn't too experimental. After checking with Zagat's, Yelp, and here, we made reservation at Lusardi's for a Fri. night at 7PM. We needn't have bothered, since we were the only ones there at that time. And, by the time we left, 2 hrs. later, there was only one other table occupied. Service was fine, although our waiter's charming Italian accent did make some of what he said hard to understand. The decor is old-fashioned Italian restaurant, a couple of steps up from plastic grapes on the wall. For firsts, we had the Grilled Calamari, and Insalata Bianca. Unfortunately, the calamari was tough and not very flavorful. The salad, however, was amazing. Tender, delicious, pretty to look at, and perfectly dressed. Then I had the Tortelli in Salsa Tartufata. I'm a fan of al dente, but the ravioli did seem undercooked to me, I couldn't really taste any mushroom in the pasta or truffle in the sauce. Cuz had the Veal Parmesan, which was very good, and DH had the Rigatoni Cipullo, which he said was also good, but he ate it too fast for me to get a taste. Two kinds of bread were served during the meal with flavored olive oil, a white Italian and a whole-grained type of bread. I tasted both breads without the oil, and they were just OK. Desserts were Torta Al Pistachio (excellent), Torta di Ricotta (excellent), and Cupola di Cioccolata (average). Coffee was very good, as was the glass of wine I had, their Pinot Grigio by the glass, which I initially thought was unavailable, since the wine list only goes down to half-bottles. But I asked about wines by-the-glass, and they do have a limited assortment. I would consider going back, but would probably look for an alternative next time we take our cousin out for dinner. There are too many choices to return to one which, for the money, didn't wow us.

Wow. EVERYthing was great.

By JimWB54 |

Wow. Everything was great. My wife, an extraordinary cook herself, and I headed out for our “last supper” after 8 weeks in the big apple. Trip Advisor helped way more than Yelp, and we found our target. The salad fried goat cheese on Aruluga with excellent dressing and sliced pears and some grapes was a good start. Homemade ravioli with Parmesan and a cream sauce was perfectly done. Then, sole with crazy good sauce and a surprising side of eggplant with tomato and zucchini. Followed by 2 desserts: tiramisu and pistachio tort, and cappuccino. The best meal in 2 months, when we dined our at least a couple evenings a week. Bon appetite!

Great food, great place, traditional service for UES well healed locals but at what price?

By Seabassnow |

So no doubt this is a solid place. Maybe it is just me but I don't really like to go out and spend a lot on food I feel I can cook myself. I realize not every can do that but I can so I just hate spending the money on that. That said, if you are in the mood for wonderful Italian food and want to eat like an UES local - go a head, you can't go wrong.

High End Cuisine, Wait Staff, Ambiance Clientelle

By Mark G |

One of the best UES Italian restaurants, and there are many to choose from. Better than five star. Mixologist please note. Vodka gimlets could have been better shaken, to make them colder. We loved the special appetizer, shaved beef, arugula, figs, thin parmesan cheese. I had the Veal Martini, my partner had the Bronzino, both wonderful. Pear tart for desert was terrific. Decor was up to date and struck a nice balance amongst color and texture. Many UES restaurants don't reinvest in their interior design, looking old and stuffy, just like they did decades ago. Wait staff is highly attentive. Our waiter said goodnight again on the sidewalk outside as his shift ended, as we were hailing a cab. Fun to have a celebrity in the house. A well known and handsome former Today Show host dined there with his attractive wife.

Excellent!

By JMBOR |

My husband, son and I celebrated a birthday at lusardis this past Tuesday evening. It was our first time here. The food was delicious. We had the veal martini, and veal parmigiana. Cooked to perfection, as were the pasta, with garlic and olive oil and the veggies. The bread and zucchini in marinara sauce was a nice touch. The place was full by 7:30, but service was terrific (very attentive staff ) and surprisingly the noise level was not bad. A manager came over at the end of our meal and asked us if we enjoyed the dinner. We will definitely be back.

A fine neighborhood restaurant

By MARK M |

Ate here for the first time earlier this summer. The food was excellent - in my case two large and sumptuous soft-shell crabs and a tasty squash soup. The service was very friendly and professional and the price was in line with similar upper east side restaurants. Recommended with no significant reservations.

small Italian charming

By cbmfse_123 |

This restaurant is small but cosy and very attentive servers. Menu varied and prices vary so if you want a medium priced menu for lunch and dinner it is available. Food excellent and portions just the right size. Small bar area as you enter the restaurant and would say about 30+ more or less tables. Not so close that you can hear the next patron's conversation, but close. I had the Veal Martini and superb. Staff all speak Italian and very friendly and anxious to please

past its prime

By worldview123 |

Old school italian with a loyal clientale that was medicore at best. First they kept us waiting 30 min despite the fact we had a reservation. then dinner was like "waiting for godot". the waiters were either too busy or just not interested. The prices are high and the portions are small. the sound level is high and the serice is poor.just giving you the facts.

Un bel giorno

By paul t |

Its always a good day when I go to Lusardis'. This flagship establishment is the creation of Parma brothers, Mauro and Luigi. They have given NYC a special gift. Great food and better service.

Great atmosphere

By gatechmom |

Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff, and good food! We will definitely retur. On our next trip to Manhattan.

Always delightful

By Commoncritic |

This is our "go to" restaurant when visiting our adult children in the city. We discovered it a couple of years ago and now count it as one of our favorites restaurants in NYC. The maitre'd welcomes us like friends and even if we don't have a reservation, he does his best to fit us in. The food is always excellent. I tend to order the duck each time but I need to venue out! Everyone else is always happy with their choices. They have outdoor seating when the weather permits but the inside is warm and welcoming. We feel at home here! And! They always bring special goodies before and after the meal! Such a fun surprise every time!

Used to be better

By trip |

Vegetables were cold. They reheated. Salmon cold. They put under the broiler and then it was then overcooked. Wouldn’t go back!!!

A pleasure

By Henry L |

My wife and I have been regularly going to this neighborhood restaurant for years (we do not live far). Always a pleasure to dine at this restaurant. The specials are well, special! And so are most of the appetizers. This time we had mussels (they were superb) and for the main dish we tried the dover sole. Not inexpensive (brought in by air from the U.K.) but so well prepared and tasty... The staff is helpful and respectful and the ambiance pleasant. A place we want to come back again and again.

Neighborhood Restaurant, Great Food!

By LakeladyB |

The mussels are amazing. Some of the best I've ever eaten. We were a party of four. Service was impeccable. Food equally interesting and Excellent. Pasta's were all homemade with sauces to match. Totally enjoyable evening.

Excellent local Italian restaurant

By drl_smit-may |

Our friends took us to one of their favorite local neighborhood restaurants. Very good Northern Italian food and a very good wine list. We had the calamari, braised rabbit, Carpaccio, veal tenderloin and ravioli stuffed with sausage. All the dishes were cooked perfectly and flavorful. The best dessert was the pistachio tart with white chocolate ice cream. The bill with ta, tip and a bottle of wine was $550 for four people. They let us sit and talk with our friends for more than three hours. Very friendly staff no pressure.

Highly Recommend Lusardi's Restaurant

By Cindy B |

After reading reviews on trip advisor for restaurants near our son's new apartment on the upper East side of the city we chose Ludardi based on the positive comments and weren't disappointed. Our reservations were earlier than requested because it was such a booked night. At 5:15 we were the only ones seated and by the time we left the place was full. Service was first rate, the wine list offered many options and all of our food, appetizers to dessert, was great! There were many menu choices and the presentation as well as the flavors were top notch. It was a great place to share a meal with our two adult children. It's obvious that it's a favorite of many of the locals. We are frequent visitors to the city and will definitely return.

Old world charm coupled with wonderful food!

By Bi-coaster |

The dining room is elegant, the waiters are formally dressed (no jeans here!), the tables are laid with white cloths, and the service is professional. If you want a more casual atmosphere, you can dine outside at one of the sidewalk tables. We were inside and warmly greeted by the maitre d' and every waiter we passed. Our meal was superb! Artichokes and a salad to start followed by exquisite pasta with shaved black truffle and then veal martini (veal cutlet in a lemony sauce accompanied by thin coins of zucchini). The waiter easily accommodated our request to share both the special pasta dish and the veal entree and they were served already divided! My only slight quibble is that they asked to present both the pasta and the veal at the same time--odd since they were two courses. Not sure why exactly. In any case, we will delightedly return for another meal!

Lusardi's is Excellent

By Ralph P |

The food was excellent - especially he truffles. The service and atmosphere was fine. It may be a little out of the way from midtown but it is certainly worth the extra few minutes to get there.

Always a wonderful experience

Even though my daughter has moved away from NYC, Lusardi's is considered a must visit whenever we return. Wonderful management, staff and food!

We celebrated a miracle today. We eat here often for lLunch and it's marvelous. It's nice For Dinner- but Lunch time is much nicer. It's quiet, civilized and the food is exceptional. Traditional Italian Food. It couldn't be better than this!

Lovely Italian

Neighborhood Dining with Style

By P8490RJjamesh |

If you're looking for outstanding classic Italian fine dining on the east side in the 70s, this is it. A great spot with lots of old school style, outstanding service and wonderful food, this is it. It's a small place so get your reservation well in advance. The waiters have been there forever and they know how to treat customers well.

Classic

By Victor S |

Growing up in the 60s and 70s there were many great Italian restaurants on the Upper East Side like Lusardi's. Many have closed and others have become tired. Not Lusardi's. Come here for top notch ingredients perfectly prepared and served by a professional staff. It is not at all stuffy though the tablecloths are starched and the silverware changes with each course. The wine list is better than solid (drank a delicious Kerner, $45) and well-valued. Great place for families, young and old. I also thought the value was terrific, especially when compared to other top Italian restaurants.

Great Surprise, delicious food

By Aybike S |

Lusardi's was just round the corner of the flat I rented during my stay in NYC. General tendency is to "go" somewhere to eat good food. We were so tired that evening and wanted to eat nearby. without reading / knowing anything about this restaurant, luckily we found a table and had our dinner. It was a great surprise finding this gem unexpectedly. The food is great. People are great. We enjoyed all the food we tasted ( couldn't decide on the entrees and ordered several and shared). Lamb ribs was delicious. Don't miss the deserts:)

it had been many years since I had been to Lusardi's, it is great to see that the quality of the food and the service is intact. The food was absolute perfection, again.

An old friend that still delivers

By MCSCarmel |

Visited after many years away. If anything, food is better than ever. My veal Martini was scrumptious, and I don't use that word lightly (or often). Menu, aside from pasta dishes, has a number of fish and veal dishes and they all sounded wonderful. I can't wait to go back.

Varied menu… Tables are really close to each other… Noisy… But fun… Lots of birthdays celebrated there… Expensive… Very good pasta… And Fish… Something for everyone… This is not a place for a quiet romantic dinner… It’s a place for family fun and friend fun

Great food!

By NDPittClub |

Still getting use to NYC prices, but I have to say we were very pleased with our meal for 4 adults. Our pastas were each FANTASTIC (tortelli in salsa tartufata, gnocchi & rigatoni cipullo)! Shared appetizers and desserts were very good. We skipped the wine, and our bill was only $200. I think that was pretty good for excellent food in NYC. Would definitely recommend to others. And will return on next trip to NYC.

Understated, elegant!

By Neeraiyer |

What a lovely gem of a place, hidden in plain view! I’ve lived in the UES for over 6 years and, yet didn’t venture into this place. But I’m so grateful I did. The place is quite and elegant, the service is friendly and attentive and oh-so Italian! Excellent food- I loved the Cacio-e-Pepe and the burrata was delectable. Imma vegetarian but I was told that the branzino was delicious. Make sure to leave room for the dessert: the house-made tiramisu and the pear tarte were to die for. Finish off with refreshing cappuccino or better, the complimentary digestif, a lovely raspberry eau de vie, with biscotti.

I Can't Say Job Well Done, Because They Cooked My Order Until It Was Well Done

By Harvey M |

I started the meal off with lobster bisque soup. It had almost no noticeable flavor of lobster. Instead It had alcoholic flavor, perhaps that of cognac. It tasted good and had no alcoholic affect on me, but I ordered it because I wanted a dominant taste of lobster in my soup. For my main course I ordered the calf's liver medium rare. The waiter assured me that the kitchen could cook it to that degree. When the waiter brought it out to me it was cooked to the well done level. I complained to the waiter about that but he did not offer to take it back and re-do it. Instead, he made an excuse about how thin the liver is and how hard it would be to get it medium rare. I have had liver that was "that thin" (it was really not very thin) and had it served to me medium rare.

Protocol

By Lisa K |

It was first time dining indoors since the Omnicrom explosion. Was not happy owner/ and our waiter not wearing masks. They did check my vax card…but I don’t get to check theirs…thus my discomfort when you expect compliance in an established NYC restaurant. Business meeting was spent talking a lot about this. Not necessary to be uncomfortable. Going back inside. Don’t need this-I can cook.

Ravioli was amazing!

By kathy l |

Our waiter was charming, both meals were perfect and the cappuccino after dinner was just right! Only reason I didn't give Lusardi's a 5--tables were too close together.
