Great food. Awesome atmosphere and vibe.

By Nick H |

Found this little gem whilst walking around. Freshly made pasta and great tasting food. The atmosphere inside is spot on with chill vibes and even had live music playing. The pasta is made fresh and you can even watch it be made in front of you. The food is reasonably priced for NYC and I’d recommend it.

Authentic Italian Restaurant

By andreacca |

Really a nice find, just a nice restaurant. Great service and quality typical Italian products. Homemade pasta, made well and cooked properly. Excellent fried cake with cutting board of ham and burrata.

Like eating in Italy

By Peter V |

Found the place by coincidence. Fantastic ambient with great original Parma area food. Simply fantastic!! I have travelled a lot in Italy, and the food was just like beeing back in Italy. Great interior and well designed. Pasta was very tasty and perfect al-dente (a must-try is their stuffed pasta with truffels! and their lasagne). All original ingredienses and super wines at good prices (remember to try their chilled red lambrosco (yes red). Staff was very friendly and some even Italian. Great chef and fantastic food. Surely a MUST-visit when in this area!! I will be back - that’s for sure.

Italian near Washington Square

By Kimitaka Sho |

Pasta is as good as the name suggests at this Italian restaurant near Washington Square. This area is a battleground for restaurants, so if the taste is not good, you can't survive. The interior is well-lit, wood-grained, and it's easy to get in without a reservation.

Maestro Pasta is a great place value for money is excellent for being in New York. Here you eat real Italian pasta .. just like at home. The staff is very kind and attentive, especially with my six-year-old .. who was greeted with a smile since our arrival. Special thanks to the owner for the courtesy and hospitality. The best pasta and atmosphere

By RL89 |

The best meal we had in NYC!! Great service, cosy atmosphere and absolutely delicious food!! I started with a negroni which was to notch quality, then went on to share the cheese board and had a pasta dish each. The menu isn’t huge but there is something for everyone and a few veggie dishes. Every mouthful was a delight- the pasta cooked perfectly and delicious sauce was packed with flavour. Highly recommend this place

Lovely food and service

Came across this restaurant while walking and searching for somewhere to eat, the atmosphere was really cool, the decor was great and also had live music. The service was super friendly and helpful and the food was beautiful, definitely worth a visit.

Good but pricey

By Nathan S |

The décor is nice but very expensive.Charging 26 $+ taxi for pasta ,that hardly cost a few bucks to make,is unreasable.I know its NY( WE from Europe).16 $ for a glass of Lambrusco also too pricey

An Italian dinner in New York that we will not forget

Handmade pasta and all the sympathy of Emilia

By Fiorella C |

True Italian cuisine with Emilian flavors. The pasta is handmade by the Emilian owner. Staff, very friendly. The place is original, quiet and welcoming and the prices are appropriate to a Greenwich place. I really enjoyed the open kitchen, enclosed by windows. Unlike most NYC restaurants where we've been where the kitchen is hidden and doesn't let you imagine who knows what hygiene... If you want a break from all Asian cuisines I highly recommend it.

Zero Stars

By Momo F |

I would give this place 0 stars if was an option. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Where to even begin? The space is ok, but very amateur feeing in concept. Seating is wonky. Booths have a traditional bench on one side of the table and swings suspended from the ceiling on the other. We were seated at a high top with the surface of the tabletop pitched toward us at a maybe a 30 degree angle. We had to play defense with our water glasses to keep them from sliding onto our laps. Above the open kitchen hung laminated photos of the dishes on the menu. Again, who is this for? The evening’s live music was a guy at a keyboard and a woman singing. They were good, BUT the woman’s mic was turned up to a deafening level. I mean it quite literally. I was so taken aback by the shear volume, I actually added a decibel measuring app to my phone as I waited for my order, and her voice registered at a level equal to that of a chainsaw. Nobody wants to a Gloria Gaynor number screamed at them while they wait for their not-great ravioli. If we hadn’t been desperately hungry, we actually would have left before our food was served. The food was inauthentic despite the pasta itself being clearly house made. The cacio a pepe was goopy and sticky and served in a gimmicky fake pan. The picture menu should have been a tip-off from the very beginning. Do not go here. I think all the other reviews have to be friends and family.

Wonderful place ( visiting from Ireland )

By Martha E |

Beautiful fresh pasta , wonderful service and amazing wine would highly recommend this place , cool interior with swing seats at some tables. The Pinot Grigio was excellent will definitely purchase again .

Warm welcome, good food, noisy.

By Dorothy P |

I went with a small group of friends for post-concert drink and light food. Staff were extremely warm and welcoming. The focaccias were delicious and good for sharing. Although the place was crowded, service was good. Our only complaint: the music was so loud it was almost impossible to have conversation. Otherwise, I'd certainly go back another time for a larger meal. Maybe mid-day would be better.

Typical Italian cuisine of high standard

By Nicola M |

I spent a week of vacation in New York with my family and came across this amazing restaurant near New York University. The restaurant offers typical Italian cuisine with strong specialization on handmade pasta. The service managed by Elisa is precise and fast, the owner Alessandro is always present and attentive to details and customer needs. Excellent cold cuts accompanied by impeccable fried cake. The pastas are all exceptional but I recommend the linguine with pesto. A must try when you are in New York.

Mega disappointment

By BD34786 |

Great neighborhood, restaurant has a very good vibe. That's where the good ends. The pasta was average. fresh pasta, although it had an off flavor as though it was stored in a refrigerator and picked up some flavors. Cacio pepe was a fail. Not much flavor. The meatball appetizer was particularly disappointing. The actual meatball tasted like a ball of beef. The "sauce" that they were in was chopped onions, some red stuff drowning in oil. The onions overwhelmed and the grease slick they were in added nothing to the dish. Service left a lot to be desired. Best described as indifferent.

Excellent experience

Great experience, very kind Alessandro and great food. We took 4 different pasta dishes and they were all very good. Very nice place, if you are in New York I recommend it.

Best pasta in NYC!

By Nicola P |

Best pasta in NYC! The service is really good, we had some salads and focaccia as starters and then tried the fresh made pasta. If you want a taste of how pasta is made in italy you must come to eat here!

A beautiful evening in a very Italian venue

By Valerio M |

Very nice place, Alessandro the owner is very friendly and welcoming, as are the guys who serve, very attentive to customers. The handmade pastas served are very fresh and good, as are the cold cuts platters. The typical Emilian fried gnocco.....in short it feels like being in Italy!! I highly recommend it for a nice, proper meal. Well done Alessandro and his staff!!👏

Atmosphere and Food that Soothed Our Souls on a Hot Day

By mmm10 |

We happened upon this restaurant after a very long day visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was hot and took way too long to get a ferry back to Manhattan. We ended up looking for food in Greenwich Village long after being hungry and thirsty. Maestro was open and empty at the time (it was around 4 pm). The atmosphere was beautiful and it was cool inside. We had excellent, personable service and had a wonderful, late lunch/ early dinner that soothed our hungry and parched souls. What a lovely restaurant and menu. As we ate we watched the pasta being made by hand. As we left the restaurant began to fill up. What a lovely surprise to have happened upon such a quaint, beautiful restaurant!

Emilian dinner in New York!

By Emanuele A |

Dined with friends during New York week at this restaurant in Greenwich run by Italians (Emilians from Parma) who cook handmade pasta. After a good fried dumpling with raw Parma I ate a great cheese and pepper proposed in the classic pan. Elisa (manager) then entertained us on various aspects of the life of the Big Apple and in the end, after a taste of tiramisu, we came out satisfied and satisfied. Prices in line with the city.

Authentic Italian & amazing homemade pasta in w. vill

By blackcard2 |

Went for dinner and sat at bar - front row seats to open kitchen and bar. This place is legit - real authentic italian and real homemade pasta. Chatted with owner who is from Parma, Italy. Highly recommend any of the pasta dishes, all homemade in front of you - also the prosciutto is sliced fresh in front of you. Carpaccio and fried artichokes were great light apps too. Also nice selection of Italian wines and negronis/cocktails. Will be back 100%. Atmosphere is great for friends or date or a few drinks at bar.

First Negroni

By db2boogie |

My first Negroni....I have nothing to compare it to, but it was delicious. The staff was friendly and warm. The pasta is made fresh and all ingredients are fresh. I will return.

Italian restaurant in the center of Greenwich Village. Excellent food and excellent wine list. Elisa took care of us throughout dinner, pampering us and offering us advice on NY and the Big Apple in general. Super Recommended

Maestro Pasta, an up and down experience in the heart of NY

By Mario |

Visiting Maestro Pasta with my family was a gastronomic experience with points in favor and details to improve. Since our arrival, the lack of reception was evident, as no one welcomed us. With my daughter in her baby car, I had to approach the waitress to request a table for three and a child chair. A first detail that makes a difference in hospitality. The menu, accessible only by QR code, is concise, but the prices are not exactly economical. To begin with, we ordered a caprese focaccia, which turned out to be a refined flavorless bread, which was far from the texture and fluffy characteristic of a good focaccia. We also tasted the fried polenta sticks with a burrata dressing, a simple appetizer and no great surprises, although pleasant tasting. For the main courses, we opted for two pastas: a bolognese for my wife and an aglio e olio e peperoncino for me. The Bolognese was well achieved, with a rich and balanced sauce that respected the essence of the classic recipe. However, the star of the night was aglio e olio, with perfect al dente cooking and a balance of flavors that really stood out. As for the drinks, my choice was a Negroni, which unfortunately left much to be desired. The cocktail, in addition to being diluted, did not have the exact proportions, the Campari predominating over the other spirits, which overshadowed the characteristic balance of this classic. For $19, I expected a more precise execution. My wife, meanwhile, asked for a Coke, without further comment. The service had its highs and lows. The waitress served us water at first, but overall the attention was slow and without adequate follow-up to the table. On the plus side, the decor of the place is nice and the bathrooms were clean and well organized, something that always adds points in the overall experience. Conclusion: Maestro Pasta has potential and an attractive proposition, but details like the initial hospitality, execution of some dishes and quality of service can make the difference between a memorable experience and a simply acceptable one. I would return to try other options, hoping that they will improve in those key areas. 📌 Rating: 3.5/5
