We stopped in to Maggie's for lunch with the hopes of a traditional Irish meal. When our server introduced herself with that Irish accent, I knew things would be good. A half and half and fish and chips hit the spot! Don't miss this landmark!

Great little restaurant. Food was very good and lots of beer selections. Server was very friendly. Very laid back atmosphere.

I strolled in after noticing the burger and beer special, just ten bucks. While the beer was only 8 ounces and the brand was designated by the restaurant, it required two hands to eat the 1+ inch thick burger. (Helpful hint: Order your burger one temperature grade lower than you would normally order it.) I could not finish the fries. A pint costs $7 which is average for the neighborhood but high during off-peak hours. However, the regular menu price for a burger is $15. The bartender was awesome. And, there are plenty of televisions to watch sports. Even if you do not plan to stay a while, the special is worth going out of your way for.

This is my top choice near Grand Central for fast food. Service is excellent and quite friendly. I love their burgers and the price is perfect. The beer is on the expensive side at 7.00 but it is NYC. The French fries are just Ok.. not sure what is missing there. The bar is fun, in particular after work.

Stopped here for a quick bite & drinks, what a relaxing quiet bar. The bartender was very attentive, poured a perfect Guinness & very knowledgable. A must stop if your near the area!

Went to Maggie's Place for late lunch. A bit crowded when we got there, but the place thinned out. They were highly regarded by a number of reviews. Ordered shepherd's pie. I make a better one. Food was so-so, but service was horrendous. Rude and obnoxious server practically dropped the plates of food on the table. Never returned to ask if we wanted more drinks. My companion asked for napkins-never got them. I went to the bar myself for napkins. I asked for water. It was brought 20 minutes later. The server's attitude put a huge damper on the place. Her tip reflected our dissatisfaction. The bathroom was absolutely filthy! And there were no paper towels to dry hands.

The sidewalks were packed on the 23rd of December & we were looking for a place to rest our feet, get warm, quench our thirst and quell our hunger pangs. Our first impression of Maggie’s Place was positive with its warm inviting interior and festive Christmas decorations. We waited for at least 5 minutes before we were acknowledged by the bar tender. He said they were short-staffed and someone would be with us shortly. We were led upstairs to the dining room. The ground floor had the typical Irish pub look and atmosphere. Our waitress did not seem happy to see us at first but turned her attitude around. The dining room was not very full and our orders were taken and filled in an appropriate amount of time. The lightly breaded calamari was excellent. The lamb stew was perfect after a day spent outside in the cold. It was not the best but certainly up to most Irish pub standards that I have visited. Everyone enjoyed their choices to include the chicken fingers and the shrimp and pasta. Our food arrived hot. The plates were warmed. The dining room was attractively decorated in Yuletide garlands. The menu was full of typical pub choices. The staff could have been more cordial and welcoming. It was a good refuge from the crowds and the cold.

Okish food but left very quickly after seeing a huge cockroach on the floor near the bar. Told the waitress as we were leaving but she already knew about it. Definitely won’t be returning.

Dined here for dinner earlier this week (Mat 2015). I had the Shepard's pie for dinner and it was very good. The beer selection was fairly broad with a nice sampling from all-over. Service was also good. The place is fairly small, so the noise level is a bit high but it was on a sport playoff night.

We have visited MP over the past 20 years during occasional visits to NYC, and again enjoyed the service and comfortable surroundings.

Did not really expect to much when we sort of "fell" into this restaurant, but the food was great and the place hat lots of atmosphere! Busy place!

Solid food, fish and chips and shepards pie a hit, burgers were also tasty. A much better choice than the big chains in NYC and a relaxing environment. Very reasobably priced for this part of town!

I called Maggie’s to make a reservation for 20 people for a team happy hour after work for Drinks & food. They said sure we can accommodate and booked the reservation. When I showed up after a handful of people and walked back to where our area was “reserved” I found they put us in a cramped corner with no table or chairs that could barely fit 10ppl! I went to the host and said we made a reservation and thought we would have tables reserved to put food/drink on with space to accommodate 20ppl, this is not sufficient. She said, well you only said drinks and food. I told her she should have explained the accommodations we were getting because this is not at all adequate. It is was a joke! I immediately went across the street to Connolly’s Irish pub and they were able to pull together proper accommodations for 20+ people with tables, chairs and adequate space. Made it happen in 5minutes by the time our crew walked across the street from Maggie’s. We all had a great time at Connolly’s! Drank & ate nearly $3000 worth of food & drink that Maggie’s missed out on. Skip Maggie’s go to Connolly’s instead. They are lovely and happy to have you.

After a mad days shopping we arrived at Maggies exhausted! it was not busy at first and we ate upstairs, service was great until the girl got rushed off her feet! food was good..we'd definately return!

I think the most reliable thing on the menu is the burger. I enjoy interacting with some of the Coleen's who work as servers. Most of them are very good. Can be a very loud place for lunch! The beers are good, but the specials are slight. You have to walk towards 3rd or 2nd for Happy Hours and lunch specials. If this review is helpful please hit the button. Thanks!

Lovely friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend if visiting New York. Great welcome. Thanks we have been here several times during our trip.

We came across maggies just walking past to get off the busy streets. Gorgeously decorates inside with Christmas lights which made it look so warm and cosy with the dark mahogany panels on the walls. I ordered the special which was tandoori salmon , spinach & citrus quionoa bowl with avocado and goats cheese. It was absolutely stunning. Salmon cooked perfectly, really tasty and a great sized portion. My husband had the burger ... he wasn’t that impressed but we didn’t come for former food. It was good there was no fault to it just said the meat didn’t taste that good quality. The service was great, the atmosphere fab.. although it was pretty much full it really didn’t feel it. Really reasonable prices. I’d definitely return.

One of the best meals so far in NYC. We both had the steak with mashed potatoes. It was well prepared, and we didn't wait very long. Only minus was that the meal was not very warm when it arrived at the the table. Since it both is a bar and a restaurant you have to expect some noise. I would go again.

Awful food and poor service. What a dreadful place. Massively overpriced. Noisy and dirty. If I could give it zero stars I would. And as for the toilets - beyond disgusting. Eat anywhere but this.

We stumbled upon Maggies Place whilst shopping in NYC. The BBQ baby back ribs were just fall-off-the-bone melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The place had a great atmosphere even on a Monday lunchtime. Food was just amazing and we had a great meal. Service wasn't particularly good, lack of attention but food made up for it!

While walking from Bryant Park and Grand Central, my wife and I were looking to have lunch. We stopped at Maggie's Place. Maggie's is a cozy and warm Irish pub with a full bar, bar seating and a variety of beers on tap. We shared the sliders and the kale and brussels sprouts Caesar salad. Both were very good. There were 3 sliders to the order which was great for sharing and the salad was very fresh and dressed nicely. The menu has many options from appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads, entrees and traditional Irish fare. Maggie's was a good choice for lunch.

To feel NY is a good place You will meet a local people during and after work Good pub food, good service and atmosphere

This is a great local place to have a comfort food lunch, especially when it's freezing outside. I had the streak and mushroom pie and my wife had the potato and leek soup with a beafsteak tomato salad. The pie was delicious with guinness. We got there just before the lunch crowd and the place got busy. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. A nice change from the high dollar restaurants in the area. Larry & Kelly

A great place for a few beers with work colleagues before heading off to JFK for the Red Eye back to Heathrow. A truly great Irish bar with fantastic atmosphere and great burgers. Can get very busy but that adds to the atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended.

My wife and I went here for dinner our first night in NYC (day before Thanksgiving) November 2022. The atmosphere was really good, the food well prepared and delicious. The waitress was very polite and professional...overall great experience for our first dining experience in NYC!

ok, decent place for business lunch

We ate around lunchtime, two chicken burgers, a chicken salad and a reuben. Not spectacular but adequate, however my reuben didn’t taste like a reuben should (it was like a rubber brick). Service was good if a little surly and the surroundings weren’t what was expected, a little dated upstairs but then again, it was clean.

time 6.45pm after another day walking the streets of NYC stopped off here for a bite to eat & a drink with my family was served by Alison ..well done !!!all the food was hot very nice not over priced i would eat here again give it a try we liked it !

New York may be full of Irish bars but you would be hard pushed to find any better or more welcoming than Maggie's Place. Good food and excellent service . A special mention to both Brendan and Keira whom though extremely busy behind the bar , still had the time to make our visit pleasant and welcoming. Next time we're in the Big Apple this will be the first bar on our list THANKS BRENDA'S and KEIRA Steve and Julie

We stumbled on this restaurant, and we will definitely make a point to go back there!! Great Nyc lunch spot ; assorted menu; staff very nice; great service

Happened upon this gem while walking from Grand Central to Radio City. We didn’t have a lot of time to spend on lunch & the place was busy. The staff, especially Pauline, was super about accommodating us. And to top it off the food was great. I had THEE BEST lamb burger - tasted like fresh ground lamb & cooked to perfection. Our party of four all enjoyed our meals & look forward to visiting them again on our next visit - but for dinner next time. Looks like it’d be a fun time on a Saturday nite. Thank you Pauline & the rest of the crew!!!

It is a nice restaurant with good food. My daughter had the shepherd's pie and loved it. I had steak and it was good. The service was good.

My husband and I had lunch at Maggie's and paid $50 for a small pizza bread, lamb stew and a beer and tip. Totally not worth the price despite the totally delighful colleen who waited on us. The pizza bread had a good sausage on it, but otherwise not memorable. The lamb stew was a disaster. The "lamb" could have been horsemeat for all the taste it had. The beer was the best part of the meal. Go to Maggie's for a beer--not the food.

Recommended to us by someone who works in the area, we had lunch at this jovial pub before attending a matinee performance on Broadway. We got there a little before the lunch crowd arrived and were served before the place got crowded. We ordered a martini and a Guinness, both were excellent. The wife had roast pork with red cabbage and mashed potatoes, I had the shepherds pie. It was a cold rainy day and something simple and hearty sounded good, and it was. The roast pork was tender, juicy and fork tender. The shepherds pie was very good. Mostly ground beef, it was seasoned nicely, the mashed potatoes were real, as they should be, in a decent restaurant, and cooked to a light brown on the high points. It was all I could do to finish it, but I did. Service was excellent, the servers were all pleasant and the atmosphere was just what I want in a pub. Our friend told us it's a very fun and friendly place at cocktail hour and I would believe it. For a lunch, it was a little pricey for folks from Indiana, ($60 with drinks & tip) but apparently not for Manhattan.

Stopped by on my way from the theatre for a alternative to unappealing expensive room service, great staff super friendly - to go order made quickly and was excellent.

Seated quickly with no reservation. Friendly and very efficient staff. The food was fantastic. Had lamb stew, Maggie burger and Sheppard's pie... Can't wait to go back!

Maggie's Place has the typical pub/bar food selection and the food is average quality. But the prices are high for the type of food. With the selection of restaurants in the area, we will choose other places in the future.

been here many times. i have 2 girls and a wife, if you are like me....they shop. american girl store is located 2 blocks from here, need to run away...this place is perfect. low key, but not "dead" excellent "burger and beer" special. food is above average, good wings and a really nice cheese burger. beer selection deserves high praise as well. come with friends, clients or family, they have an upstairs dining room. location is everything, so if you are visiting nyc, shopping along fifth ave, need a place to eat, that is not too pricey and good food....i would definitly suggest maggie's

Awesome Irish Pub. Stopped there for lunch (unplanned) and we are so glad we did. My husband RAVED about the Shepherd's Pie and I has the salmon sandwich which was very tasty. Good eats, great history to the place and good service. Happy to have found this hidden gem!

Traditional Irish atmosphere, attentive service, good meals at a reasonable price. The waiter was very nice, like a family place.

In town visiting family for a long weekend and found this place on OT. After reading the reviews on on TA we enjoyed a good meal on Friday night. Definitely a place where the locals meet after work, the ground floor was packed with folks meeting up before the weekend. The staff was gracious and helped us because we had one guest in a wheelchair. The menu offers Irish pub fare. Served promptly and hot. I enjoyed the avocado toast and fish n chips. Al lot of fun, but not for a quiet meal.

I️ met a friend for dinner with no reservation. We picked an upstairs table as the first floor was pretty loud and packed. The beer came out fast and the food was solid. They have fish and chips, Shepard’s pie, etc. I️ chose a flatbread with twice baked potatoes, green onions, and bacon. It was wonderful. And healthy. Maybe. The service was good and everything was clean. Good menu.

Had a few drinks in here, the Guinness wasn't as good as Connolly's over the road but the service and staff were much better. Very attentive.

When we finally stopped exploring we needed food and a drink on the fly, and saw Maggie's. It's a warm and comfortable environment. The staff was amazing and fast. The food was OUTSTANDING!!! I had tomato crusted salmon on top of mushroom ravioli with succulent sauce. My husband had a lamb buger that was also delish. Go there if you have a chance...you won't be sorry. I love Maggie's!!!! Can't wait until next time!!!! Thank you Maggie's for a great meal and service.

This is the perfect little Irish pub to meet a few friends for a pint or two. Busy enough but not over crowded. Six of us went about 5:30 on a Wednesday. We got a table in the back. Server was very attentive.

Having visited on a day it was closed, we went back for late lunch and were not disappointed. We sat upstairs, very quiet but it was the time of day, Noisy in the bar area. Food was well cooked and enjoyable as was the Brooklyn beer.

Being in NY for a business trip I went there for a dinner on my own. The place was almost empty, also because it was quite late, so I experienced a very relaxed environment, and enjoyed the nice dark-wood furniture that gives the place a typically irish look. I didn't expect much from the place, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover that the food was really good (The crab pie worth a try) as well as the overall service. Recommended if you're looking for a non-expensive dinnner with a good quality level. Great value for money.

Found restaurant by chance and had an excellent meal. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. Food was great but as usual was too much. I would recommend all to this restaurant for the lively atmosphere and great company.

Maggies Place claim to offer "Friendliness and Warmth" The waitress barked her script at us at high speed, showing no interest in us whatsoever. The menu said "Ask us about our seasonal beers" .. I asked if they had any other beers, and was told "They're on there" in a tone that implied I was an idiot. (nice start!) The shepherds pie was very nice, but the burger, requested 'medium' was served somewhere between raw and rare. We paid up and left, saying "thanks" to another waitress, who ignored us completely and kept staring at her phone. A reasonable watering hole, but don't expect the warm welcome you'd expect from a real Irish pub.

we stopped by for drinks, reasonable prices and good service, visited at 5 pm so a bit noisy and crowded with after work singles

If you are looking for good food, great selection of beers, drinks, and atmosphere, this is the place for you. It is a very fun spot!

Even though it was supposed to be a "nice" dinner out, I couldn't help but test their claim to have one of the best burgers in New York. It was very, very good. My dining companion had the steak and he enjoyed it very much. The bathrooms were clean and the staff were great. Nice ambiance - looks just like the pictures.

Amazing service, atmosphere and food right in the middle of the city. We were looking for a quiet retreat after a crazy day and everything about our visit was exactly what we needed.

We ate here two nights in a row with our three boys - and they loved the flatbread pizza, shepherd's pie and calamari. Mum and dad relaxed too, with some nice food and beverages. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Stopped in for a quiet meal on Black Friday, service was excellent, as was the food and drinks.I had the goat cheese and wild mushroom flat bread, amazing flavors. There was a special cocktail for the holidays, don't remember the name, but again lovely blend of flavors. Others in my party were just as satisfied with their meals. And the prices, especially for NYC, were very reasonable.

Maggie's bar is a lovely looking bar-pub......inside it is very much like a pub in Britain and all the staff are very nice.... Give it a try as you will be very pleased with the amount of choice of drinks they have on their shelves.

This is one of the nicer Irish bars in Midtown. The bar is very woody and the bartender is very friendly. The white wine by the glass here is horrific but the french fries are good as is the shrimp cocktail.

Food was delicious, specially the fried cheese sticks. Drinks were good also. Amazing Christmas decoration and vibe, great location.

Cut thru the clutter and stop by this neighborhood bar for good food and a clean dining experience. Family/kid friendly, or meet friends here after work and saddle up to the bar.

We visited for wats at 7:00 on a Saturday evening, we were the only table and we seemed to be putting the waitress out by not ordering quick enough! She actually said "do you want to just start with a water " when I was still looking at the draft beer list for an extra couple of minutes. As a result we stayed for one drink and an appetizer. With which we had to find out own silverware. A few tables came in after us and one actually was told that they were closing soon ! What happened to The city that never sleeps ???

I was greeted with a smile and seated promptly at the time of my reservation. I started off with the Jonah Crab Cake ($15) which was very good. In fancier and more expensive restaurants I have had crab cakes that were not as flavorful as the one served here. My main course was the Lamb Stew which included flavorful Lamb and its flavorful broth with carrots and potatoes.

We visited from an area of Florida where there are virtually NO authentic Irish Pubs. We really enjoyed Maggies Place. Great bartender with energetic personality, and comforting, delicious food on a cold rainy day.

Made a reservation online and we were seated right away even though they were very busy. Our food was delicious but service was very slow on drink refills and getting our final bill. The itself was so adorable. Our window seats had views of the street for people watching.

Have consistently enjoyed this midtown bar and Irish restaurant, both lunch and dinner, and, on occasion, with larger groups. I always check out the specials, generally reasonably priced. Ale-battered fresh (cod) Fish & Chips, $17, is consistently good, as are the salads. Wide assortment of quality brews on tap, including Sierra Nevada Pale Ale , Goose Island, and Guinness. Tip: Back room, first floor, is quietest area.

Maggie's had typical pub food and does it all well. Burgers and shepherd's pie are tops. Fish and chips are good, although slightly rubbery. Salads are good as well. It can get crowded at lunchtime, so call ahead if you can. Usually, you can walk right in anyway.

Met up with an old friend who is a regular here. This is a great place in mid-town to have a couple of beers - friendly staff, and good choice of beers & gin. Pop in and saw hello to Trevor!

My wife and I were seated on the second floor. First floor is the bar and on friday evening very lively. We both had the Steak-Dinner (25US$). The service was friendly and accurate. The steak was very good and very well seasoned. We can recommend this place.

We stopped in here after visiting a pub across the street the night before. This little pub was a nice, quiet delight! The fries were fabulous, the drinks were cold AND hot! The local beer selection was fairly vast and they made sure we got our Irish Coffee to warm us up and keep us going despite closing early for New Year's Eve. If we had been in town longer, we definitely would have visited again to try out more on the menu.

Visited on 9th April on our first night in New York. This was our first experience of the New York pub scene. On arrival it was very busy with after work drinkers and we did not know if we would get a table to eat but were shown upstairs to the dining area. We were seated on the main floor but the girl seating us saw a better table that needed clearing. She sat us down and said she would clear the table and move us. We were brought water and bread and butter straight away and our drink order was taken. The other table was cleared and we were moved over need to the window over looking the street. We ordered food and enjoyed our drinks watching the world go by. I had fish and chips, which was very good and filling. The staff (3 young women) were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great! We came away very happy and wanted to return on Sunday evening but were very disappointed when we found it closed. Would definitely return and have already recommended it to others.

Had lunch with the family on a Saturday and the atmosphere was really nice in the pub. The menu has the normal things for an Irish pub/restaurant. We had fish n chips and they were really good. They had a kids menu and it was ok. The beer list was also good.

I would eat there again. Loved the Bangers and Mash. They had the Lagavulin 16 in their selection of Islay Scotch so I was happy.

We stop in here because of the pub style atmosphere. A very narrow restuarant like many in NYC, so t it is a little tight on the inside. If you need a quick, good meal and don' t want eat at the usual tourist spots, then stop here. Restuarant is upstairs with the bar and some tables on the first floor. Can get busy at lunctime during the week. Great place to stop in to get away from the Fifth avenue crowds. Close to Grand Central.

Went for dinner. No reservations and were seated right away. Food was excellent, especially the Shepard's pie. Very flavorful and veggies were fresh and crisp.Very relaxed atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Would go back again.

Was here for dinner on a recent shopping excursion to New York. Looked like a quaint Irish Pub, so we thought we would try it. Was not very busy when we got there, were ushed to a table near the door and provided menu's. We waited about 10 minutes and a girl other than the one that seated us came along, asked if anyone had taken our drink order we replied no and she did. Another server brought our drinks and took our food order. We waited about 30 minutes for our dinners to arrive. Needless to say when the food arrived it was cold. The "chips"/fries looked like they had been cooked over and over, and were brown in colour. We sent two dinners back because the chips were cold, we waited about 10 minutes for it to return....chips were still cold and brown. Not the nicest place to eat....would'nt recommend it.

Went here are passing the place and it looked nice, majority of the reviews were very good. Prices were reasonable and the menu looked good. My wife ordered fish with fries which was nice if lacking in portion size. I ordered the steak with mash and seasonal vegetables, it arrive with 3 heads of asparagus and the mash. I tried the mash first which was stone cold, therefore I tried the rest to find it all cold, the actual plate was freezing. I complained to the waitress and she apologised. She arrived with a replacement which was warmer but still not hot, again the plate was freezing cold. Maybe they need to heat the plates before plating up the food. I was very hungry so ate it anyway, at this point my wife had finished her food therefore I wasn’t waiting any longer. The plan had been to stay for a few drinks but by this point I just wanted to go somewhere else. I was given an $8 discount but at that point it was irrelevant. Personally I’d find somewhere else to eat if I was on here now looking at the reviews.

My son and I were in NYC sightseeing and we popped into Maggie's Place on our last night in town. It was a great find. The service was swift and friendly. The food was good and the upstairs room wasn't crowded. The meny was fair as were the prices. The stew was very good and my son enjoyed the burger. For a fair price we had a good meal.

This is midtown's oldest family owned Irish restaurant (since 1974). Our waitress was from Ireland and had a lovely accent and desire to treat us as if we were family. Great fish and chips and bangers and mash. Perfect spot to stop after theatre. Reasonable price and a nice Irish pub vibe.

I stumbled upon Maggie's while looking for place to have dinner before boarding a bus to return home (E.46th & Madison). There was a sign for their Sat. night burger special. that grabbed my attention. Coincidentally it was the night of the Kentucky Derby. Considering how crowded the restaurant was, I was immediately seated in the 1st level bar area which was close to tv. The bartender; Branden, couldn't have provided more personalized service until Amanda (the server) was able to equally accommodate me. The burger special is the best value meal I've ever had. That includes having burgers in several different States. I'll definitely go there again while visiting NYC.

This is a locals restaurant and bar that has an awesome burger, great Irish fare and great atmosphere. Located midtown.

Dined here without a reservation prior to a show on a February Saturday night. We’re seated immediately. Server was nice and attentive offering good advice on the menu. Food was cooked to our specifications and no problem making the show on time. That’s a winner!

We fell upon this place for a late lunch. Attractive inside and quite busy downstairs with people who I guesses left work early friday for an after work drink. In fact that is probably what it is good for rather than a more serious meal. We sent back one main course and my ribs were very average

A nice Irish pub that's close to the no the entrance of grand Central. Good selection of draft beers and Irish Whiskeys and a nice menu.

Genuine Irish staff in a typical pub/restaurant. Steak was delicious as was Irish stew ( well you have to , don't you?), and service was friendly and efficient. We went on a Saturday evening, fairly quiet but good atmosphere.

Excellent and friendly staff, we ordered the pretzels (overcooked), Steak (undercooked), and Steak Mushroom Pie (undercooked crust).

Nice Irish Pub close to Grand Central. A 2 level establishment with dark wooden interior, very warm and cozy. Stopped in to meet a friend for drinks & food. Good selection of import draft beer and domestic as well. Had both a Guinness and a Harp and they were perfect pours! Had the Maggie burger which was cooked perfectly medium rare and was cooked and served to me in under 10 minutes! Friendly bartender with an Irish brogue. It was a balmy evening so the front of the restaurant folding doors were open to the street. Overall a nice experience and I will be back.

Excellent food in an authentic Irish Pub. The food was delishius and generously portioned. I would recomment the fish and chips and the rigitoni with short ribs. Their Irish coffees are delicious, though a little expensive.

Excellen food, excellent service and price was quite reasonable. And they sell Magnas, so I was happy! Mum even managed a boddingtons!! and she doesnt drink. Lovely atmosphere, almost walked past as it looked too busy, but the staff were very accomodating. Highly recommended

I stopped in here to have a glass of wine and some snacks with a friend after work, it's kind of dark but I like that. The wings were great, the staff was very attentive and polite. It has that sports bar type feel to it, with TVs etc, hi top tables, and regular tables. I enjoyed my visit and it was not too noisy or too crowded.

Went for drinks after work. Really good food, friendly service and a nice beer selection. Everyone was very nice and the place was very fun.

Met friends here on Monday night for drinks and then had dinner upstairs.. Food was excellent. Our server James was amazing. Very professional and attentive.

The server's keep the tables turning...but your meal will be well prepared and your drink cold and refreshing.

Hot food on a cold day! Good shepard's pie and coffee! Not room for larger then 4 on main floor but cozy atmosphere. Great fish and chips!

We stopped in on a busy Friday during the Christmas rush. Great drink specials - 12 dollar specials. Food was excellent. We had shepards pie and steak and mushroom pie. Good size portions but not so big. I would go back. We were able to get a table right away and didn't have to wait for long for our dinner.

Nice place for after work beverages. It's generally quite crowded, which is always a good sign. The bartender and wait staff are quite friendly and service is pretty good. Have tried many of the bar sharing plates such as sliders, nachos, wings etc. and it's been quite good everytime. Haven't sat down for dinner but have seen quite a few folks dine there too so must be decent. NY City standard pricing..ie pricier than other cities.

Maggie's Place is a typical Irish pub restaurant. Food was good along with the service. Convenient location.

This is your classic Irish pub with good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks. Not sure if we were there on a slow night, though e sat upstairs and were able to have a conversation without shouting. Not easy to find in New York.

After we have read the reviews on TripAdvisor,We went there looking forward for a nice dinner. We were greeted by (assuming Maggie or the pub owner) a lady with false smile welcoming us to the place. The the time was approx 8:30pm. She tried to rush us to order our food so we did politely. We ordered fish and fries. I have ordered myself a pint of beer. 20 mins later , The food has arrived , it was cold, half cooked and badly presented. The fries was one of the worst I have ever eaten. Almost halfway to pint, the lady came again asking whether I want another pint, I said yes. The pint came in. Before I have finished my 1st pint , she came to our table saying that they are closing. It was a real shock to us as she could've said that before we have ordered our food. We ended up paying the bill but leaving our food and drink halfway and left the place. Sometime you gut feel tells a lot about people, I have sensed her attitude from the moment we were in but obviously I decided to ignore my gut feel. My advice to you is to avoid this one and find out another pup where people are more honest with you.

Great location and food was good but cold. Service on the other hand was bad. We had three different girls who took care of us and none of them were polite and said welcome or asked us how the food tasted. As tourists from Europe we found the service really bad; they also had the nerve to put a tip/gratitude on the check. Since we found the service being so bad we definitely didn't felt for tipping - so we didn't.

Popped our heads into to a couple of bars but didn't stay because they weren't exactly what we were looking for. Maggie's was. Criteria was somewhere that didn't look tired, good atmosphere, great service and OK beer selection. Obviously.

Went after the theater for dinner. Was off the theater district so less crowded. Nice bar but we wanted a table. Only 4 tables but not an overcrowded area. 1 waitress and 1 bartender but they seemed to have it all under control. Ordered the ribs and switched out fries for mashed potatoes. Best ribs I have had in a long time. They fell right off the bone. Not covered in texas bbq sauce so you could really taste the meat. Did not have dessert. Would definitely go back, great find in nyc. 60.00 in total for 2 with drinks.

We visited for drinks only and sat at the bar, the bar man was great and quick to serve, the drinks were nice and well priced! The place also had a nice feel to it & was friendly.

Went there with my coworkers and had the grilled steak salad and it was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and let us sit there a long time during busy lunch.

My wife and I walked into this bar at 10:15pm as it was pretty quiet and looked to be a nice bar. There were very few people in the bar and we stood near the beer pumps to be served. There were two members of staff on duty. One was writing at the end of the bar as though she was balancing her till and the other walked behind us and went round the other side of the bar. Both members of staff looked up and saw us and I thought they would come over and serve us, however we were not acknowledged by either of them and neither came to serve us even though we were the only people that needed serving. We therefore walked out of the bar and took our custom elsewhere. So, I would not return to Maggie's Place again and would not recommend it as it was not welcoming and there was no customer service.

Delicious salad and shepherd's pie...excellent ground meat and potatoes! Cheerfully served by Irish lasses.

Popped into Maggie's Place as we were passing and decided to stop for dinner. The barman was a really nice guy and all the waitresses were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, beer great and the service was brilliant. Great value too, well worth a stop and I'd recommend the steak and mushroom pie....delicious!

These are definitely the most tender and "fall-off-the-bone" ribs I've tasted. One only has to shake the plate, and the meat is separated from the bone. The pub setting lends itself to a fun atmosphere and a great night.

Food - delicious especially for the value Atmosphere- terrific beautiful at Christmas perfectly appointed! Service - 10/5!! We came in at 6:00 & said can we get 5 meals by 6:30 to get to Top of Rock 7:10 appointment & we’re given front table (as tourists). Left 6:50 got 3 blocks & wife says left iPhone in their bathroom! Ugh! Me fat out of shape asthma from FL running 4 blocks at 25 degree temp get to host stand start to explain & he smiles hands me the phone - run back & get to Rock at 7:14 & get in!!

Good local bar busy during the week. due to banks nearby but quieter at weekends. I had a lovely Irish Stew here and it was great. The staff (Brendon) are great and a nice local atmosphere.

It was a very cold day in NYC and the food in this place was great. I had the shepherd's pie and it was very good. The service was also good and attentive. The place is clean and comfortable. I recommend this restaurant.

The service was worse than the soured wine they tried to serve me. It took over ten minutes just to get a menu, an other 15 minutes for her to come back and take our order, and an other 15 minutes to get our drink order. There are so many amazing restaurants in NYC, don't waste your time here.

Food is average, servers are very nice, and the prices are reasonable for the neighborhood.

Our first time in NYC, staff were friendly, good beer on tap. Place was buzzing with locals and the buffalo wings were so good we went back again!!!

staff recommended the hamburger as a dish for lunch. The quality was below average: hamburger was not tasty, mushrooms burned and unions were cold. Staff was very friendly and location is nice. Not a place I will visit again

There are Irish pubs in every corner of the earth and Maggie's Place is, and has been, one of my favorites for the last 30-plus years. Great drinks and solid pub fare. Great hamburges but I prefer the fish and chips and shepherd's pie.

Popped in for a quick bit to eat, food was awesome and I can be picky. I had the pork and mash potatoes with cabbag, not my usual pick but very good. My husband had the hamburger loved it. Great service.

Pub's don't last in nyc if they don't treat you right. This pub has been around for as long as I can remember. The food and service are solid. A classic Irish pub in NYC. You can't go wrong. PS I work right around the corner from Maggie's.

We absolutely loved Maggies!Great buzzy atmosphere and fabulous food and drinks. Not very big but as soon as you walk through the door you feel comfortable and welcome.Fabulous staff too and background music mixed and eclectic.Great!

We fell in here on a Saturday evening after a day walking our feet off in Manhattan. It was around 7.30pm and what we didn't realise was that this restaurant closes at 8pm on a Saturday night. Maybe this should have told us it wasn't going to be amazing. The atmosphere was good, friendly and welcoming but quiet. The quiet was actually quite a nice relief in a city that never sleeps or knows how to be quiet. Our waitress was a delight, so pleasant and helpful. ordering was easy and quick. My Husband and Son ordered burgers and as a vegetarian there were really only two choices on the menu for me to order from. I ended up having to order the Nachos with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Not great for a main Saturday night meal but there was little choice so be aware of this if you too are a veggie. The cold Guinness was good, my Angry Orchard cider ( discovered two years ago in New England ) was absolutley wonderful. The food was disappointing with the burgers being only ok and in a city where burgers are fairly common place this was a real shame. The Nachos were not at all good and I had to send them back. They were originally warm with melted cheese on top but then freeing cold lumps of salsa, sour cream and guacamole had been piled on top making it miserable to eat. I sent it back and explained why and they sent it back out again with just the Nachos and cheese on the plate with the other items in small pots on the side....but they were still freezing cold. Why don't restaurants bring foods to room temperature before serving it, there is no taste when food is that cold and its not nice to eat it that way either. They did take it off the bill which was good of them but I had a miserable meal and ended up hungry. Sorry Maggie's.

Stopped in for the lunch special, which changes daily. Dined at the bar. Bartender was excellent and the beers were great! Food is awesome! Draws a regular crowd.

Have been several times to Maggie's. Food is much better than most Midtown Irish style pubs, and the service is better too. Of course they do Fish & Chips very well ! But there is so much else and for lunch I usually order one of the specials of the day, usually no pricier than the regular menu and usually done better. I give the chef credit for trying to do more than the usual Irish pub fare. Yet, the beer menu is fairly broad, so all in all in a good experience of casual setting, decent food, and a variety of drink choices ( assuming you are not an oenophile, which is not why you would go here in the first place). Be Aware - at lunchtime it gets very loud! Which is in keeping with the Irish pub style. Do yourself a favor, book a reservation.

My brother and I celebrated his graduation from college by having dinner and drinks here one Friday night after meeting up at Grand Central Station. The places around Grand Central get so crowded and noisy on Friday nights. Maggie's first floor bar was no exception but they have a charming, quiet second floor perfect for sit-down dinners. We actually ate on the mezzanine level though, which was small but contained at least 3-4 tables. It was perfect because it was quiet but we were not too far away from the action. This is an ideal pub to grab a drink and/or get dinner. The food was great! My brother got the meatball lollipops which he devoured. I got both the Bavarian pretzel and the three cheese nachos -both were fantastic. The services blew me away though, as the waitresses and hostess were so incredibly attentive, even with how busy the place was. I was truly impressed. They were so accommodating and solicitous -probably the best service of any place near Grand Central, as that neighborhood can be a zoo. If you need a spot near Grand Central that fits the Irish pub feel but is not too pricey and also cozy and fun, Maggie's is the place for you!

I go here a few times a year and have always had a good experience. The services is quick but they don't rush you. It's upscale pub food and quite good at that. The fish options and daily specials are very good as are the salads. It's nicer than an everyday lunch place but not a budget buster if you're getting together with friends.

Nothing fancy, just a good selection of beer, nice atmosphere and decent pub grub. For me, the shepherd's pie beats the fish and chips, but reasonable people can disagree.

Friendly bar staff.... Excellent food available upstairs. Tuna steak was very tasty... I would go back

We went to Maggie's Place for dinner on a Saturday night. We got in right away with our reservation which was nice. The main thing I remember about this meal was the service. It took about 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table. Then it took around 30 minutes for us to get our food orders in and that was after we stopped a waitress. Once we placed our order it was around 40 minutes for the food to come out. All that was ordered were wings, two burgers and fish & chips. Any time we asked for another drink or wanted to order something getting a waitress was like pulling teeth, then dealing with the attitude was even more frustrating. I think in the upstairs portion there were only 2 waiters, not nearly enough for a Saturday night. Once we got our food it was really enjoyable. The wings were spicy, but not unbearable, the burgers were tender and the fish and chips had good fillets. Overall, I would suggest this restaurant if you have time to kill and have at least two hours to eat.

We stumbled upon Maggie's, thought it looked cute, and decided to give it a try. We're glad we did. Nice menu of the type of food you'd expect from an Irish pub, plus some surprises. My salmon burger was delicious and so were the big fat chips (French fries). Maggie's has a genuine, neighborhood feel to it. The staff were all quite friendly. Very enjoyable.

we walked into this place off the street and all in all was a good experience. an effective service, they forgot our battered fish dish but took it off the bill. good burgers and decent baby back ribs.

Me , my Wife and my son stop there for drinks Monday January 6 2020. we ordered little burgers for snacks. After come back to hotel I start first throw up after me, my son and my wife. We all have very bed food poisoning. We are sick for week. Never go and eat there again.

Went twice , great steak and good price for NY. Nice lively place and but not as noisey as others, which was much better

We ate lunch at this restaurant after stumbling across it during shopping. It is a lovely building and the food was outstanding. Well presented and large portions giving excellent value for money. The food was lovely and I'm sorry that we didn't find this little gem sooner than our last day! Would definitely recommend.

Really lovely gem of a restaurant amongst loads of shops Good solid food, reasonable value and friendly service. Above all, just a great place to get away from Manhattan and take a breath. Certainly would go back.

Wow. The single most rude “maitre de type host”, I use the term incredibly loosely, that my wife and I have ever come across. Abrasive, ignorant and cannot be bothered to explain where one can sit, shrugs shoulders and then proceeds to move us in a manner more akin to herding cattle after we had bought drinks and sat down. Disgraceful customer service. Owners might want to take note of how their front of house staff portray the Maggie’s brand. Low grade stuff.

My husband and went for lunch and enjoyed it. We had just arrived in the city after an early flight and were very hungry. Our waitress was lovely, quick and attentive. We got beer while we looked over the menu. We decided on pub grub. Shepard's pie for me and chicken pot pie for the hubs. Both were authentic and delish. Hubs got another beer and thought $6.00 was a lil steep for Bud Light draft. Oh well it's NYC and vacay so we were ok with it. I loved he crowd. Lots of locals in for lunch. You can tell by the snipets of conversation and the lack of maps! When I visit a place, I like to be able to be in places where real people go about their daily business. I would certainly return and recommend it!

We stumbled upon Maggies whilst in NYC. It has the old wooden rustic feel and as it was very hot it has amble air conditioning. I would recommend the salmon burger it was also reasons my priced at $18. The hubby got the steak as it was recommended to him he didn't have any complaints it came cooked as requested and was a thick chunky steak. We would return again. The staff were very friendly and also gave us the free WiFi.

I like this bar/restaurant after it was highly recommended. I had the Shepard Pie and I can’t complain one bit. However, as an outcome of limitations on space in New York City, this place suffers a little by being very rectangular in its overall space. Groups larger than 3 will likely be more elbow to elbow.

We went to this pub as we had previously eaten there and liked the food. This time the meal was very disappointing the chips were over cooked and my salmon burger was burnt. No one asked how was our food, but seeing how much we left they probably knew.

We had a meal in the upstairs restaurant area on Friday evening. Food and service was pretty good but not outstanding. We were a party of 6 and the mussels to start and ribs for main were the most popular dishes. However, just as we were finishing our drinks after the meal an almighty fight broke out in the downstairs bar, shouting and screaming and tables/bottles being thrown. We did not investigate as it sounded quite scary. The commotion did die down and we were about to leave when the fight/screaming started up again, but this time from the kitchen area on the upper floor near us (the people involved, who included the staff, must have gone up by a back staircase). Needless to say we exited quickly (running). This is not something I expect from a $300 meal. I recommend avoiding at all costs.

I've eaten here twice in the last few months. Its a good place to meet people. It is a large space, larger than it looks from the outside, and they have several larger tables/booths. Decor is typical new york city Irish pub, with the brown wood and lots of televisions set to sporting events. It is busy in the after work hours but not so loud that you cant hear people speak. Prices are reasonable for midtown and food is typical irish pub offerings. Both times I visited I got the fish and chips and my friend got a burger. Fish and chips are good, fries are really good. Service is attentive and friendly. There's nothing to really rave about but everything is done well and I have no complaints.

Loved the place, loved the atmosphere. They still had a X-mas decorations and it was magical. I had a lamb burger. It was nice but I would choose different in the future ;)

Service was great and the burger was very good. Rapid service for lunch time which is appreciated. Overall good experience!

This place is buzzing with atmosphere especially at happy hour The food is good and the service good too.If a table is not available ask to sit at the bar (if you are lucky)such friendly staff and mostly irish who have such charm. open til late most nights

This was our first visit to Maggie's and we won't hesitate to go back. Sitting between Madison Ave and 5th, it's about a half mile walk from Times Square, so not bad if you're going to a show. The menu features Pub fare, with an Irish slant. My wife enjoyed Bangers and Mash while I had the Fish 'n' Chips with Maggie's own hand-cut fries. Ciara took good care of us. Considering it was Saturday night on Veteran's day weekend, she was the only waitress working the floor. But no problem. The bar was pretty much filled upon our arrival, but we were surprised that the noise level was not what you would expect from a Pub. We're not sure if that was unusual or the norm, but whatever the case, it was a welcome surprise. Beverage choices were numerous, with a number of beers on tap or by the bottle. There were also a decent number of wine selections. There were a number of appetizer selections, but we didn't partake as we were having an early meal after having a mid-afternoon snack. Have to admit, the Uber Pretzel looked interesting! Next time! We'll be back.

I have eaten at Maggies Place probably about 10 times in the past few years as it is close to Grand Central Station where I catch the train home. I was there, again, this past Saturday, March 5th, and was not disappointed. I ordered the "steak dinner" which included a decent size steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked as ordered and have good flavor. The only complaint, and I know better for next time, the entire plate was covered with a sauce, while good, I would have preferred it on the side rather than on the plate. In the past I have enjoyed the burgers and almost went that route again, however, glad I ordered the steak but next time no sauce

We went there because my name is Maggie and it was close to our hotel - but it turns out the burgers were EXCELLENT. We met up with a friend of mine from high school the next day and he said that he used to go there for lunch all the time for the same reason. Sounds like its a hidden gem!

My wife and I wanted to find some good Irish pub food for a cold night in NYC. Maggie's was not to far from our hotel and had good reviews on TA. We were able to get quick reservations via Open Table. The two story pub and restaurant was crowded. The first floor pub was loud but the dinning room upstairs was quieter but the music was fairly loud over the speakers and would have been better if turned down a notch or two. The food and service was great. We ordered the chicken pot pie and a New York strip steak. Both were excellently prepared and the prices were very reasonable.

The place looks nice but that's about it. Rock bottom service. Didn't get to try the food since no one came to the table to take the order. We watched a number of people come in and eventually walk out, especially at the bar, for lack of service. Eventually we left also. There was another place across the street we went to, saw a number of people which walked out of Maggie's end up there as well.

A friend told me about Maggie's Place and I stumbled upon it during a shopping spree on 5th Avenue. And it was time for a break and a bite to eat. It's a good place to go by yourself or with friends. The food is good and the they have a big menu selection. If you're lucky you might even get a table on the little balcony on the first floor. Really cozy.

As a Brit I would normally avoid any kind of pub but couldn't resist 'beer and a burger $10'. Inside was beautifully done out and the atmosphere was great. Best burger of my trip. Not sure where the ten bucks deal came from but it was good value nevertheless. Good range of beers and the inevitable TVs pumping out sport. Ideal if you are solo as tables are in long thin rows. Felt more American than Irish but who cares? Well worth popping in to take the weight off your feet if you are shopping and dropping.

Great looking Irish bar and grill in the midtown area. We were just strolling by with friends and dropped in for a drink. The waitress told us about their burger and brew special and we all jumped at it. The burgers were top drawer. They have an outstanding selection of Irish beers and I treated myself to a Smithwick’s Irish Ale. everyone enjoyed the food and the brews. I recommend this great bar for a casual meal or just to taste a brew that you never did before.

I visited Maggie's Place today. As soon I walked in I was greeted with a smile from Mattie (you can't miss her, she is the one with the big smile, big heart and kind face). I was then met with a genuine welcome and warmth from Danielle who kindly came over to me when she heard my late mam was called Maggie. She gave me a tee-shirt for my Dad and he is delighted. Danielle spent time chatting, telling me about her life and me about mine, what a real experience and a real pleasure to see an Irish woman leading professionally with passion and compassion x BTW, the fish and chips were delicious! Given it was founded in 1974 by Teddy and Maggie Whelan, who immigrated from Dublin, as a true Dublin it felt like home. Maureen x

Enjoyable steaks in New York.Good dinner for a reasonable price.Tables a bit cramped though.Ate upstairs as downstairs in the bar very noisy and busy.
Fab pub!
We were quite tired after walking what seemed like the whole of NYC and came across this place. We just wanted a drink somewhere that wasn't jam packed and noisy!! It was early Saturday evening and we expected it to be heaving but it was lovely and peaceful. Apparently this place gets very busy in the week but is quieter at weekends so if you're after a place for a drink that's quiet and the staff are lovely and welcoming, this is the place.
