Mangia is a very solid option for a quick lunch. They have several options: soups, salads, sandwiches. I particularly love the mini chicken salad and basil sandwich up at the front counter- so good. Manga also offers a great option for catering lunch. Also, more expanded menu and dining with service upstairs which I never knew before!

If you want to have q quick lunch with good options on salads, sandwiches, definitely this is a nice option. It is really worth to try.

We've been coming to Mangia for a few years now and they are consistently very good for breakfast and lunch. Prices are pretty good and there is an excellent selection of freshly made and healthy options in addition to the bakery section ...not so healthy, but looks great! ;-) Always seems to be busy, so guess New Yorkers like it too... definitely a recommend...

Very nice sandwich, plenty choice of side dish and vegetables

A pretty big salad bar that we chose from and a whole load of other stuff too. If you want good food and nice and quick then this should work well for you. It did for us.

We went twice to Mangia. Once for lunch and once for brunch. The place was packed for lunch, but we did not go for the buffet which was downstairs and immediately got a table upstairs. We ate Penne vodka with chicken and Capellini Gambieri. Both dishes were great. Our bill was $44.64 including 2 iced teas and tax. We loved the place so much we went for brunch on a saturday. Large portions, quiet and pleasant and delicious food. We left really happy we went back.

First of all, we did not eat here (well anything other than a chocolate chip cookie) so I more specifically writing about the service, which seemed very slow. To be fair it was fairly busy downstairs, but once my two drink order was taken and no one else was at the counter it did seem to take about 20 minutes to get my drinks. We sat upstairs as there was room there and it was nice and spacious. The atmosphere was nice and it did look the food was probably pretty good.

We had lunch here today. Downstairs you can select from a buffet to either takeaway or eat in. Upstairs is waiter service where you can choose from a menu or there is also a set price $18 eat as much as you like buffet. I went for the buffet and there was plenty of choice including curry prawns, smoked salmon, scallops, roast beef, squid, roast vegetables, mozzarella balls, asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and more. It was delicious and along with plenty of iced water, a healthy lunch time meal

Most delicious hot sandwiches, ready in minutes and high quality delivered with excellent service and surprisingly reasonable in a city where things can be quite overpriced. We were utterly impressed and will be heading back again and again.

IF you want to eat something like italian food, here you can find a good tipe of it. A very good price for a very good italian food

Marvellous cold and hot plates to choose from - buffet style, delicious pastries and sandwiches. A perfect place to have lunch or an early dinner.

I really didn't like the mixing of take out patrons who the sit a communal tables, and restaurant diners. When we finished, as dinners people began congregating around the table.

Orange juice and sandwiches are excellent! lovely place for a great breakfast with the best italian coffee!. Loved it!

Visited the upstairs section as there wasn't available seating downstairs. Very limited menu with big prices. The only thing on the menu I would eat was chicken soup, ordered that and it was barely warm. Sent it back, came back out no warmer. Service was very slow. There is a HUGE selection of food choices downstairs, which I will select if I ever return.

This is my go to type of place for lunch in NYC. Well conceived menu with quick savory items presenting a mouth watering variety with just about every offering. The Pipzz Bianca Was terrific, as was the filet mignon wrap sandwich ....rolled like a wrap flatbread. Service was super friendly and efficient. Beautiful bakery items for take away and gift giving (super holiday cookies for sale in lovely pre-packaged gift boxes.

Mangia is a great place for breakfast - the coffee is (probably) the best in NY, the food is excellent and wholesome, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Tables are roomy so you can plan a new business without the table next to you learning too much. Food is fresh and terrific. Wide range of sandwiches, salads and delicious pastries whether you are there for breakfast, a break, lunch or dinner. The place is mostly self serve so can be very quick. Great take out too!

My husband eats here a lot since it's near his office when he travels to NYC. He took me when I came with him and the food was delicious. Feel like you are eating healthy. We had salads, and you watch them create your salad for you, even tossing the dressing thoroughly for you. We actually took ours to go and sat in Central Park to eat ours.

My wife and I had delicious paninis here to escape the torrential downpour outside. What a delight for the senses...Mangia is truly a sight to behold. I wish we could have gone back one more time. Highly recommended!

Everything about this place is great for all day eating except plastic cutlery & paper plates - the food & drink & service is too good for such stuff. Highly recommended otherwise

This restaurant offers a wide variety of food (hot and cold) at a reasonable price. Everything is made on premise. Worth going if you need to grab something that is good.

I have lunched here weekly for years. Fantastic sandwiches (either pre-made or made to order),coffee, baked goods and salad bar. Service is smooth and responsive.

Fantastic place we stumbled upon walking around. My son had a steak sandwich and I had a couple of mini caprese sandwiches on these mini brioche buns. Both weee VERT good! There was quite a selection to choose from: pasta, paninis, salads and sandwiches.

Came here for a coffee and something to snack while waiting for MoMA store to open. The staff was very prompt in getting my order and also made a flatwhite for me. I'm rather particular about the taste of my coffee. To my surprise, the coffee (despite not the usual triple shots I ask for in NZ) is actually quite nice. đđ» Wish I have discovered this place sooner and at the beginning of my trip.

This restaurant is the worst I have ever visited. The food was terrible, as was the service. As I looked around and thought it was very dirty. I don't know what anyone sees in this place but I would not recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of good restaurants around and this is not one of them.

I found Mangia several years ago when in NYC. Delicious eatery LOADED with daily fresh made, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Mangia is a menagerie of great food. You walk through the entire restaurant to view the unique salad bar, fresh sandwich bar, individual handmade pizza bar, and fresh entrees for your choosing.. Sidewalk view tables in the front are charming. Usually the first place I go after I drop my bags to refuel for my first day in NYC. LOVE Mangia. Delicitible desserts as well!

I work midtown NYC on the east side and Mangia is one of my favorite spots for lunch. The Ahi Tuna is delightful and comes with 2 sides, for about $15. Has a nice salad bar and cold food bar too. Crowded at noon, has seating upstairs.

Very convenient for Central Park; open from early; great breakfast; try the Italian filled rolls; the very fresh orange juice; or for the (me especially) bigger appetite, the waffles bacon and maple syrup. Friendly and open service, brisk and business likle, with virtually no waiting - in August when we were there. Write their name in the flyleaf of your Lonely Planet guide or holiday reading novel!

Mangia is usually a high end lunch spot around NYC. It is good food and more important a nice change from the typical lunch fare. But this time we stopped for brunch with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised from the food, service, value and even the venue. We actually aimed at Rue 57 right around the corner and were told there was a 45 minute wait. I cannot wait for food 45 minutes on a Sunday at noon. So we headed towards 5th Ave and saw Mangia. We would not consider to go in, but the guy at the door told us they had "seat-down" brunch on the second floor. So we headed there. The floor was busy but we were seated immediately. A nice waiter gave us the menus and was very pleasant throughout the meal. The deal is $20 for a drink mimosa style (there are three varieties to choose from) an "entre" and coffee. I had the steak and eggs and wife had the Eggs Benedict which she dream off all morning. We both got a tasty food and good size portions. We noticed that other dishes were too big for our liking, especially the "create your own egg" which we thought was humongous. The second floor may need a bit of sprucing up, make it more clean and tidy, paint a wall and check the furniture, but overall great value all around. We paid $40 for 2 (not including tip and tax)

The worst restaurant ever. I came during breakfast time and the staffs wrongly took my order then blamed me for their wrongdoing. I wanted to eat sausage with the omelette, and potato. So I ordered omelette, with sausage and potato on the side. The order came out with ONLY omelette. The manager told me that his staffs said that i didn't order for the sausage and potato, and i didn't pay for it. His cashier said i only paid for the omelette. I asked my money back because of the wrong order, the manager refused because he said that i only paid for the omelette and i received the right order. I insisted to call the staff who took my order. She finally confessed that I DID ASKED for the sausage and potato, but the CASHIER DID NOT PUT them in the system. The staff who took my order did not apologise, nor the cashier. Although clearly there was a miscommunication between the two hence my order came wrong. FINALLY THE MANAGER SAID SORRY after he humiliated me by kept saying "you didn't pay for the sausage and potato". Hello, i definitely wanted to pay for them, i ordered them, but how could i know your cashier didn't put them in the system! I mean, those staffs could apologise when wrong order came out, instead of accusing me. I ended up leaving my omelette without touching it, and did not ask for the refund.

Vibrant lunchtime atmosphere. Stopped off for lunch and was very impressed. Great atmosphere, in very pleasant surroundings. Self service worked really well, with excellent salads.

Went for a quick bite - very large variety of all types - from pre-prepared sandwiches to dishes and make your own sandwich. All seem to be fresh. Had several salads that were good and a tomato eggplant and parmegian that was too heavy

Very loud music so not the most relaxing of places. Doesn't really go with their prices either - a medium hot chocolate for 5 cents short of $5 and admittedly yummy looking cakes, pastries, and savoury food (which I didn't have) had me assume a slightly more upmarket ambiente. My main criticism though is their "if we don't give you a cash receipt do tell the manager and your food is on us" sign. After ordering and paying I waited for the receipt as I thought it might come with my drink. When it didn't, I made the server aware but he outright insisted he had given me my receipt. I was standing by the till the entire time with my wallet out and the CCTV would clearly show that I was at no point offered a receipt. I actually just wanted to make him aware to be more careful next time, and I didn't ask for the manager either but to have that sort of reaction was very irritating and I wish I and insisted on my money back. In short: there's much better places in the city, with tastier and more appropriately-priced hot chocolate too where you won't be made to feel like a cheat. Never coming here again. Shame really; the food looked nice enough.

Our absolute favorite lunch spot. The buffet offerings are always fresh, high quality, and delicious, with a large variety of interesting salads. While itâs especially great for vegetables, their salmon is to die for, and the seafood and chicken salads are wonderful. They also offer custom sandwiches, pizzas, and hot entrees, as well as desserts, espresso, fresh juices, etc., but we always stuff ourselves at the salad bar. Simply the best.

Mangia isn't really a restaurant, it is a fast food bar which 'home produces' fresh food throughout the day.It is almost pre-industrial, and the contrast with airline fast food is staggering. We found it for breakfast and went daily. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and granola could be followed by hot bacon, eggs, pancakes etc., or a range of paninis and sandwiches, all fresh made, no plastic packets here. We also tried lunch which includes an extensive salad bar, sold by weight, with perhaps 30 salads to select from. Again these seem to be all fresh produced and each has a quite distinctive sometimes unusual character. It would take some time to get bored with it. We didn't try the hot grill meals or the pizzas. The service and attention to clearing down and cleaning sides was also excellent. All in all a revelation in mass market fast food from the land of the Kentucky fried chicken.

We went to Mangia twice for breakfast. Both the French toast sandwich and the straight French toast with some fruit were excellent. We saw 2 different sets of staff and both were friendly and helpful adding to the experience. Would be back if I was staying in the same area again

You create your own salad and order a sandwich that is prepared in front of you. It is great for a quick lunch. Asked for a chicken parmigiana warm sandwich and chicken noodle soup with a salad selected by me. It was very good and the price very reasonable.

Mangia is one of those places that delivers healthy, and top quality food including salads, sandwiches, pastas and meat. Aside from this, there is also a juice bar and wide array of beverages to choose from. Given the pricing of the meal is based on weight, I found the cost of the meal to add up quickly. If you are careful and portion properly, you should be fine. Just be cognizant how much more expensive it can be compared to several other options nearby.

Walked past this restaurant and liked the look of it. Decided to go for breakfast there which was excellent...the issue arose when it came to the bill. The cafe offers a fixed price breakfast for $19.95....I ordered the three parts of the fixed price offer but was charged full price for each item. When queried the waiter said "you didn't tell me you were ordering fixed price", when asked to change it he said "I don't know how to work the till to change it" then "you can pay the correct amount but it will come out of my wages"... Ended up paying full amount but the service was appalling

We were recommended this place by our hotel attaché and it was great. We ate in the restaurant upstairs which was great but the deli operation downstairs looked amazing!! Definitely worth a visit if you want something on the go!

Great food at reasonable prices. The staff were superb and with the food this is a must visit when in New York. This was recommended by one of the Tiffany staff. Superb choice.

Couldn't get into Rue57 so decided to give this restaurant a try. Downstairs is limited seating / take away/juice bar etc. We went upstairs for table service and were shown to a table for 2. The waiter brought bread and a small bowl of what looked like tomato soup and glasses of water. Husband ordered burger - which he said was very good. I ordered tuna melt - which was just ok. No cheesecake available- hey this is New York! The place was v v busy, so they must be doing something right - but it was a miss with me.

We stopped in for breakfast on our last day in NYC. 3 of us got the french toast ($6.95), and it was excellent - thick slices of challah bread topped with strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. It hit the spot on a 20 degree morning! They had a case with bacon, eggs, potatoes, bagels, pastries, etc. They were putting out lunch things in various other cases, and it was all really tempting. There are so many choices; everyone can find something they like.

nice to go

Looking for breakfast on our first morning in the Big Apple and happened on Mangia, - excellent pancakes and fruit - unfortunately got given hot milk for my tea (not the last time that happened). Great fun sitting and watching them get ready for the day amazing range of pastries and baguettes etc There seemed to be a restaurant upstairs but not one we got back too.

The lemon meringue cake may have been the best I ever ate (sorry mom). So very moist and the portion was quite large at $7 a slice.

If youâre looking for a delicious and varied lunch experience in Midtown, Mangia on 57th Street is definitely worth a visit. This buffet-style restaurant offers multiple stations with plenty of optionsfrom savoury Italian-inspired dishes to sweet treats that are impossible to resist. Itâs clearly a popular spot during weekday lunchtimes, and for good reason. We tried a mix of both salty and sweet selections, and every single bite was incredibly tasty. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we ended up returning a few days later for more! You can also take your food to go, which is very convenient if youâre short on time. The only thing that could be improved is the restroom situation. There seems to be only one toilet, and on both of our visits, we experienced long waiting times. Adding an additional restroom would make the overall experience even better. Overall, a delightful dining choice with great flavours and a vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

You can get a sandwich/panini, grilled food, fresh salads, and either eat-in or take it to go. Mid-town has a slew of mediocre to terrible lunch stops, which makes Mangia seem like the superstar. The service is a bit surly, but maybe that's because of the customer base. You'll definitely find something to eat here.

You get to choose among a variety of primi pasti, salads, sea food, greens, pasta, rice... you fill your plate or box and then put it on a scale at the cashier and pay. Everything we tried was tasty, freshly prepared. There is not much place to sit down, but it is a great take away to eat in the park.

Great location , great food but overall Mimmo's cappuccino is really the best !! Made with love just like an Italian can do.

Had a carryout lunch here. Sandwiches were pretty good for the money. service was so so.

Breakfast omelettes were superb as were the pancakes with fruit!! The food choice in this place at all times of the day was excellent, we used this place virtually every day and had no complaints. Typical omelette and a coffee for breakfasts about ÂŁ7 great value for money in New York

I used to love this place when I lived in NY in the 90s, but after a recent visit where we saw two cockroaches in the dining area I am afraid we can never go back. I spoke to the staff immediately but they shrugged it off. I wrote the management but they never replied. How many cockroaches is too many in NYC? If the food were great I might reconsider but if the kitchen cleaners are as apathetic as the staff....well, I won't be going back.

Popped in to buy a coffee but came out with a creamy, yummy slice of New York cheesecake. Sat outside and watched the cars hurry by as we tasted a bit of heaven.

I liked the antipasto buffet. A good variety of cold options and salads, ideal for a quick lunch. Upstairs they also serve the desserts that are amazing.

I went with my wife and two teens. We all had the French Toast with fresh fruit ($10), which was excellent. The coffee was also great. Prices were very reasonable for midtown Manhattan. Would most definitely recommend.

For years(over 20) I have eaten food from Mangia and they still do a good job Everything from breakfast, lunch & early dinner, snacks etc, juices, coffee. I usualy have coffee & scones while I read the newspapers while the hot breakfast is wide ranging. I always loved the sandwiches - black forest ham & brie on black bread is my all time favorite. They have all sorts of hot & cold entrees and all fresh. Tourist, locals & business people al enjoying this Euro tasting venue.....

Visited here for breakfast - the upstairs dining was not yet open - so food is ordered downstairs and seating is open. The bagels were not warmed - the food was average.

Was in New York for 3 days visited mangia 3 times. A bargain of fresh quality food at reasonable prices. Variety of inventive salads, good desserts and best capuchins around. Love this place.

We stopped in for a late lunch. We saw that the downstairs seemed to be takeout /order at the counter and wanted to sit down. So we went upstairs. The menu was small with just a few dishes. I got a chicken ceasar salad which was great. Prices seemed normal for New York.

Fast service, Delish Omelettes and French Toast. Friendly Service. Great inexpensive if you are on the move. Coffee is vital to our morning and you can count on great Java here.

This cafe have a large selection of sandwich and cakes. You can sit down inside or outside. We could not find any restroom here? The prices Are in the middle.

We stopped in for a quick lunch. Great little bakery with deli- salads, fruit, pasta salads, Panini. Also can order pizzas & pastas. Nice seating upstairs & a chic little hidden bar that would be great for drinks. Casual but cool little place- very convenient, good service.... I loved my Greek salad with feta & wonderful Panini bread!

Great food of casual sophisticated food, amazingly wide selection from grills to pasta to paninis to soups to salad. It's our favorite place to have lunch - mid town doesn't have a lot of great options. Nice staff too.

We loved the breakfast at Mangia during our week long stay in New York City. Grumpy barista though...seriously dude, chill out.

Mangia is designed to be & known mostly as a take-out restaurant. But it also has a relatively large full service space on the second floor - which includes a large, fairly elaborate (maybe even sumptuous) lunch buffet. It's not expensive considering the quantity & quality of the food.

Mangia has a self service cafe on the ground floor and upstairs there is table service. We had a very nice breakfast upstairs. I had eggs benedict and my husband had an egg white omelette. If you are staying in Mid town near Central Park skip your hotels over priced breakfast and eat here. The service was fast and our server very friendly. They serve lunch and dinner also. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting NY.

They close at 7 so it's more of a lunch spot than dinner. It was just me and one other person sitting down. Had Glass of wine ( not sure of the price), minestrone soup ($6), and Ribeye ($18). The soup and steak totals $24 so my glass of wine was $9. The soup was different from other minestrone that I've had. Good flavor and fresh veggies. The menus said that the steak was peppercorn crusted. I ordered medium rare. Came out without peppercorns and was medium. It was ok - nothing special, but the price.

Self service with lovely food to boast! Desserts were delicious! Salad boxes were charged at $8.99/ 1/2lb which was a little expensive but worthwhile!

My favorite item from this place is the green goddess juice. It's AMAZING and comes in sealed glass containers. I order delivery from here approx 2x/week. I also really like their tomato eggplant soup and salmon. Very fresh and tasty. The one thing I have never liked is their cookies. They need to make them better.

Staff was very nice and courteous. The food was fantastic. I would go back and I highly recommend this place.

We were randomly looking for a place to eat with a group of 9 adults - hard to do in NYC at lunch time. Mangia had an upstairs dining room which quickly accommodated us. The food was good - combo of Italian and American. Service was good.

Whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or pastry this is a great option!! We tried small pastries and coffee which hit the spot!

Lunch after a nice walk. A quality buffet, especially fish and octopus (a bit too spicy) the sandwich with mozzarella meat similar to the Italian sandwiches of the festivals. Great sandwich delicious but the sauce very spicy.

We stumbled upon this place last year and loved the food, staff and variety. We've only tried the lunch options, but they have a great variety. It's not a sit down restaurant, more of a self serve but the selection is great, as is the food. Plenty of places to sit or you can take it to go. Great place for a nice dessert and coffee too!

Came here as we were staying round the corner and it looked nice - also had great reviews on here and the menu online looked good. When we came in we could not sit in the restaurant area - this was either due to nobody being up there or no staff working up there, they were all downstairs instead. We ended up ordering from the cabinet - I had egg and avocado on toast that wasn't made in front of me it was just taken out of the cabinet. With teas and coffee. More of a café than a restaurant as made to look online.

We went here for breakfast after a concert and before visiting the Guggenheim. Since we were walking to the museum, we wanted a hearty meal. I ordered the prix fixe Saturday brunch for $19.95 and chose the mimosa and fruit pancakes. The pancakes were quite good. My disappointment is that the waiter spilled someone's drink on me. He was apologetic and brought some club soda for me to clean the pulp and alcohol out of my coat and scarf. However, there was no offer of dry cleaning reimbursement or a reduced bill for the meal. I suppose I could have asked, but should I really have to? If I went back, I would elect to do the buffet downstairs instead of the upstairs table service.

Awesome sandwiches and fabulous pasties. When you are done salivating, it's diffi to make a choice. But whatever you get is delicious.

We visited this place twice which says a lot as I dislike visiting the same place twice on holiday. The second time we even walked around for 30 minutes trying to find it as I was convinced it was on 56th. We have only visited the restaurant so I cannot comment on the downstairs part. We have tried the tuna puttanesca (tuna fillet on spaghetti), fillet mignon (with goat's cheese on a bed on greens) and Bianca pizza (light tortilla pizza with mozzarella, prosciutto and truffle oil). The food is great and the service friendly and efficient. It is great for both a quick or elaborate lunch. I would definitely recommend!

Get real Mangia. It was just kale, chicken, parmesan cheese, and salad dressing. I hurt my knee and had a co-worker pick something up for me. How can you justify the cost of this? What is the mark up on this salad? At a nice resturant, it is understandable but not for a lunch place.

Flavoursome and buzzy atmosphere at Mangia. Take out a lunch and head to Central Park for a perfect NY day.

Just happened to find this place when returning to our hotel a block or two away. Walked in and found the most amazing salad bar ever. There was a beautiful selection of fresh veggies, variety of different lettuce, chicken, steak, and deli meats. Among the salad bar, there are other stations offering entrees, sandwiches, and deserts. As we ate the restaurant filled up quickly and it was obvious this was a popular place. A lot of people coming in and picking up take out orders. Great for those working close by. For us, it was great as we were checking out and heading to the airport.

but really is not so cheap as some opinions say here. anyway is not a bad option around this area. I can recommend you.

I was very impressed with this eatery my last visit to the city and kept coming back for a great coffee and breakfast as well as salad or sandwich. Their food is fresh and consistent as well as well priced, if you are looking to get a takeout or food to go for breakfast or lunch, I would definitely come here.

Dropped in here for brekky, wasn't sure whether this was a cake shop, a bar or a supermarket - I think it's all of these and more, but all seemed to be very busy. Service was excellent, they were very patient whilst I considered which cheese to have on my omelette (having already had to choose what type of omelette!). The place was getting busy with deliveries and setting up displays.

Mangia, just off 5th Ave is like a giant canteen with fab food. Steaks and/or quesadillas cooked to order. A giant and imaginative salad bar. Perfect for vegetarians. Pay at the till and eat in or take-out. Love it.

After a big lunch, my colleagues and I decided to try this little storefront eatery, thinking that we might be able to find a little light dinner. Well, it was a thought, but if you want to eat at a restaurant where you will not leave completely full, and even with something to take home, Mangia is not the place, for their portions are generous. The menu is varied, with some of the typical Italian fare, though there might be some things that you will need in inquire about. I had veal parmigiana, and that with all the trimmings turned out to be two very substantial meals: the one I ate there and the one that went back to the hotel with me. And the food is good enough that it was something that I wanted to take back. So this is a good New Jersey Italian café and I will certainly keep it in mind for my next visit. A final note: all of the staff there are delightful and friendly, and made us first-timers feel very welcome and comfortable.

Not a bad selection for lunch. Sandwich bread always fresh. Selection is adequate. Prices aren't the greatest, but then again you're on W57, steps away from NOBU. If you're in the area, give it a try, otherwise there are plenty of better options.

I have ordered pasta with mushrooms as well as a chicken sandwich. They were decent, but I have had better pasta. I also ordered creme brulee for dessert. It was completely burnt and I couldn't eat it. I would not recommend this restaurant.

If you are near Central Park and fancy a quick but quality lunch, Mangia is a stop to consider. A stone's throw from the park, it is the ideal place to grab a takeaway and enjoy a picnic surrounded by greenery, with breathtaking views. The place offers the possibility to have express sandwiches prepared with fresh and high quality ingredients, or you can opt for a ready-made selection in the self-service, which includes salads, rice, cold dishes and more. Prices are in line with those in New York: about $13 for a well-stuffed sandwich with premium ingredients. Inside there is also a cafeteria counter, but small co: better to avoid coffee, definitely below average. On the other hand, there is a free water station, very convenient especially in the warmer months. The place is cozy, clean, with a bathroom in good condition (something not always obvious in Manhattan) and a friendly and helpful staff. Conclusion: Perfect for a quick and tasty break before heading into Central Park. High quality products, nice environment and great location. Too bad only for the coffee, but otherwise, a super recommended choice.

Last December in New York at the Le Park Meridien with my whole family: everybody wants to eat different meals and they are always hungry, but not all at the same time. So it's nice to know, there is a place with a wide range of different food, all served as self service on a huge buffet. Everybody could choose whatever he wants in the quantity needed. The food is okay, nice staff - the only downfall is the limited number of seats and tables.

I recently met a friend for coffee and it was the perfect spot for coffee......it was a Saturday in the summer, so not too crowded.....doors were open so there was a lovely breeze and a great communal table in the front. The menu is great; so many things to choose from, whether you want to nibble on something, or have a bigger meal, it's all there. It's clean and I would recommend it highly ! Prices are not outrageous and you can have a glass of wine if you want....great place to meet !!!!

My wife and me had breakfast several times within our stay in NYC and we were perfectly satisfied every time. Very delicious and varied food, from sandwiches to eggs to salads and cakes. And the Coffee tastes excellent. This to a good valuable for money and in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Had omelets, potatoes, and french toast. All were really good. Excellent coffee. Went on a Saturday when it wasn't crowded, so it was a very enjoyable breakfast.

Busy at lunch hours but surprisingly genuine italian food and friendly staff. Great location close to 5th avenue shopping

average fast food or take out that's popular with office workers! surrounded by office bluildings and they take out food mainly for lunch!

I have been here several times and the food is fresh and is well priced. Also they have healthy options. The atmosphere is very buzzing, so don't go here if you want somewhere quiet. For the location near Central Park off 6th/5th it is good value and quick service as many establishments in the vicinity are nearly double the price. Service is casual and efficient as they like to turn around tables.

Fantastic range of salads, soups and sandwiches. The salad bar is amazing - fresh and something to suit all tastes. Easy to eat in or take out. Bustling atmosphere and friendly staff.

We came for coffee and pastries. Selection on pastries was limited. We did choose two but they tasted artificial to us. Not very special with prices on the higher side.

Needing refreshment, and being in the area, we opted to try Mangia. It has an industrial vibe with ample tables at the front and side. Best of all is the coffee and fresh food. Sandwiches are made in the back of the shop; you can't get fresher than that!

Had a great lunch here with family and friends. So much choice for everyone. Food was delicious and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful

I got there by coincidence but I loved it! The place is just perfect. It's lively and people are great. I went for a breakfast and it was one of the best sandwiches in my life. Everything is fresh and good quality. I definitely recommend that place!

They have build-your-own salads too, as do many other places, but what is special for us here are the freshly prepared salads and other combinations that they present each day. The hard part is choosing - there must be 30 or 40 each day and everything we tried was really amazing. There are many vegetarian / vegan options that are great (we loved one with shaved Brussels sprouts) but also ones with lobster, octopus, and other seafoods and meats which were a great deal all for the same price by the pound. Itâs amazing how this place has kept its quality and improved since we first remember coming some 20 years ago. Hard to beat for lunch of this type.

Been going for years even before this location. Started on W 56th in the 80s. Went today and got my favorite sandwich but found the lay out has changed. What was the sandwich bar in back is no grilled food and the sandwiches are on side..hot versions added. Besides sandwich is an amazing salad bar of cool and warm options, many healthy. There are also juices, custom salads and desserts...beautifully displayed. Check out is fast and really, they are a gem.

Stopped in for a light breakfast and discovered they had amazing coffee! My daughter ended up getting pancakes. They were surprisingly good: thick and similar to cake-batter doughnuts in texture. I had a salmon toast that was just what I was hoping for... filling without being heavy. The coffee was the star though. We walked pass several Starbucks before stopping here and were so glad we did.

Along with some friends, we spent a couple of hours doing art gallery tours along upper Madison Avenue. Our docent guide recommended Mangia as a good place for salads and said there was a buffet. When we arrived the buffet looked tempting but it was busy and there were no seats available so we went upstairs where there was table service. We arrived at around 1pm for lunch. We waited almost half an hour to have our order taken although we were served bread and water promptly. The waiter took the order of the table next to us although they arrived 10 minutes after we did. They were served a good 10 minutes before us. Our meal was served a half hour after it was ordered--these were primarily salads and paninos. The food was very average. THe panino had too much thick, dry bread and came with roasted peppers instead of the tomatoes on the menu. The food was expensive. Coffee was $5.00 a cup. We asked for the check as soon as lunch was served but it took another 20 minutes for us to get the check. We were 8 and a 20% gratuity was added. The waiter tried to make ammends by bringing us complementary cookies but it was a bad experience and we all agreed that we would not return.

Off 6th Ave. Great eatery... fresh salads, hot sandwiches, pasta and excellent bakery. Definitely recommend. Full service restaurant upstairs. Limited but adequate seating on first floor. Food feels fresh, along with a good variety. Very reasonably priced.

skip the rip-off French bistro on the corner the omlets are better here. the sandwiches were varied and delicious, the capucino was good.

I work across the street so this place is really convenient. The food is OK but it's fairly expensive, even for 57th St. The food a block away is nearly half the price. The staff is barely friendly unless you speak Russian, I guess.

I wish we had a Mangia place in the uk as it's the perfect place to stop by for lunch for all. We visited the downstairs buffet made to order area and ordered a sandwich and pizza. It was difficult to decide what we wanted as there are such a huge amount of fresh health food options to chose from. Everything looked and shelf great.

This is a decent place. I would consider going back. But, it is not very kid friendly. Not much on the menu for kids. I had a Shrimp and Mango salad that was good but not worth $16.

My request to the concierge was, "I want a place where I can get protein and vegetables - all kinds." This was it! Its 1-2 blocks from Central Park in midtown and everything is served by the pound. You walk in and can choose from salads, sandwiches, the grill, soups, or smoothies. Everything is high quality and a great haven for foodies, vegetarians, or vegans or anyone who just wants a meal with options. My husband especially enjoyed the desserts. Keep in mind this is a place with a lot of hustle and bustle and tons of people moving about - very NY style. It is a bit pricey too!

Take it and have your lunch in Central Park. Best in the Spring!

Mangia is always on my list of must go to lunch spots when I am in NYC. I love their variety of salads and other types of dishes and my husband loves their sandwiches.

Very high-quality food, and very tasty! I was surprised at the quality for the price. Granted, everything in NYC is more expensive, but I thought this place was reasonable. Their desserts are to DIE for! Can't go wrong with anything here!

While out and about in the city, there are sometimes lots of restaurants to eat and other times not so much. We stumbled onto this one and found it to be excellent quality food. Itâs set up buffet style with stations that will customize your choices. The selection was awesome, from soups to salads, pastaâs to sandwiches and made to order paniniâs. The dessert selection is great and you can even get yourself a Beer or Wine with your lunch. Itâs reasonably priced for good food. Itâs really busy at lunchtime as you might imagine, but we found a table quite easily and enjoyed it immensely. You donât have to eat junk food on the go in Manhattan any more!

This place is GREAT! All their food is fresh and tasty! From the hot plate foods, sandwiches, salads and/or juices! I have no complaints, but the only thing I may pick on is the price, although it is NYC... so I would say it's on the higher side when it comes to prices. You get what you pay for though.

I Have been visiting "mangia" on 57th street for 15 yrs now,and never disappointed. always fresh and extremely varied . personal pizzas, gourmet salad bar,hot daily entrees,a fresh squeezed juice,or just a good cup of coffee..this is the place...and they always have an excellent arrangement of fresh botanicals adorning the table on the first floor,. the staff is always cordial, professional and accommodating..Genesis. Recommended by several employees at Tiffany's for true NY style pizza that wouldn't break the bank. It was WONDERFUL! Not only can you get pizza but they have a wonderful salad/pasta/anitpasta bar that has great options PLUS some yummy deserts!

My first thought when I saw the insane salad bar at this place is "this sure beats Whole foods' salad bar." In addition to the regular salad stuff you'd find, there are a ton or protein topping choices as well as prepared sales you can choose from. The bottom of the place is all different stations from pizza to sandwiches to pasta to other hot food. Plus a juice bar. I chose to make my own salad and was very pleased with the choice and quality of product. Every other station looked pretty fresh as well. Lots of drink choices. If you want something sit down and more upscale there is a regular restaurant on the second floor. Only minuses are not too too much seating downstairs and it's pricey (but it is NYC...). I would NOT recommend this place for groups of more than 4 because of the limited seating.

This place was found on our first day as it was very close to our hotel and we used it almost every day for tea and cake and free WiFi to plan our next days activities. The home baking in this place is fantastic, I tried pecan pie, banana cream pie, pumpkin pie and macarons to name a few and they were all spectacular, they also do some of the best hot chocolate in the city!! My sister mentioned that they even managed to get tea right as she was struggling with this in some eateries. Quite a rustic feel but always busy and the staff were very good. Most days we managed to get the same table mid afternoon but lunchtimes etc were always very busy. It was open quite late int he evenings also that meant if we were late back from sightseeing we could still plan the next day without any real problems. Great place for reasonably priced, good food in the heart of the city.

buy it and weigh it! cheapest eats always worth the $$ and vast choice of hot/cold/soup/meats/fish mostly for eat and run. not for a date

Very fresh, very tasty, very yummy! One little problem: if you order for delivery, make sure to do it at least 1h before you want to eat their delicious sandwiches. But it's worth the wait!

Terrific spot for lunch. Staff was very good as was the food. Did not take advantage of the antipasto bar in the back but several others did. Would visit again.

I've been to Mangia more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. The downstairs buffet displays an extraordinary array of choices, always with some new combination of ingredients that I've never tried (like butternut squash with kale). A vegetarian can be happy here, but there are also many meat and fish dishes (roast beef and salmon for example). There are hot dishes available on the far wall, but often I don't have room for any of them, as my plate is usually full of new dishes to try from the cold part of the buffet. There are also tiny (and not so tiny) dessert options at the front, if you only have time for a pastry and a coffee. Yes, the buffet is pricey ($6.25 for half a pound), but the food is so good that one doesn't need to eat a lot to feel satisfied. Every item on the buffet is clearly labeled as to ingredients, which is a good thing for those with food allergies, and anyone who might want to try to duplicate the dish at home.

Stopped here for lunch and pleasantly surprised to find huge veggie/salad bar. They also have a fresh juice station, hot grill, fresh soups, and a sit down restaraunt upstairs. I sat at the bar downstairs and used their free WiFi. The salad bar was excellent. Service was impeccable. For a quick casual meal, this place should be on your list.

Mangia is convenient/quick with lots of options if you want to go with a coworker or solo to bring back to your desk

A favorite stop for lunch when I am in Midtown. Can't go wrong with this place except the price is a little pricey.

Loved this little cafe for a sit down breakfast or take out food. Everything is good there. The coffee or sandwich or muffins. It reminded me of Italy and their little cafes. It was nice to find an oasis in the city to have a little peace and quiet while you enjoy a good coffee and a snack ( and I am a coffee snob).

Huge selection. You can't go wrong with anything from here. Brownies are to die for. Had their veggie sandwich.

We were particularly attracted to the description of Mangia in one of our guide books because of the salad bar, as we were feeling a lack of veggies. The salad bar is truly impressive, with a large variety of salads, with both vegetarian and meat-lovers protein options. The pricing by weight can lead to a pricey lunch, as the consumer can get carried away with the varied offerings and load up his or her take-out container to excess. The house red wine was good. They were closing up for the evening when we were there, so we didn't get to try the pastries, but they looked really good. There was a large selection of fresh fruit available too. My husband tried the hot dishes--had a simple dish of orchiette with Italian sausage and rapini--really good for a buffet (still al denté and served with a bit of tasty chicken broth).

We enjoyed a late lunch at Mangia. Helpful and friendly staff helped us find suitable servings for the kids. They also presented a salat bar and a delicious display of various fruits. I guess this place is crowded around 12:00, but we easily got a table at first floor around 14:00. I would recommend anyone looking for a healthier Italian style lunch to this place.

A nice place for a quick, casual lunch. Terrific salad bar, nice sandwich selection, freshly prepared hot meals and pizza. Searing upstairs and downstairs, but it can be difficult to get a seat at lunch.

Randomly enjoyed Mangia. Food was great. Had the grilled filet salmon which was very good. Also left from the deli area of the restaurant with macaroons and a raspberry tart dessert. Would definitely go back.

Don't come here if you're hungry. The teeny portions are vastly overpriced and not particularly tasty. And at lunch time, expect to be treated like a farm animal. Don't bother!

My daughter and i discovered this wonderful place close to our hotel. We had brunch there every day for a week. The coffee was great and the food delicious. The selection was also very good. Although we didn't have lunch there we were amazed at the presentation of the salads, meat and fish on offer. It was so attractively arranged that I tried to take a photo but they wouldn't let me. I would highly recommend this place to any one visiting Manhattan.

Mangia is more like a food hall than a restaurant. Endless fresh choices; salads, an over the top salad bar, made to order sandwiches, pasta, soups, baked goods. Go from station to station making your choices, pay by the pound, take out or eat in, seating is available upstairs or downstairs. Many excellent vegetarian and vegan choices. I have been eating here for 20 years, they use the best ingredients, and I have never been disappointed. Gourmet food at very moderate prices for midtown Manhattan. Excellent people watching.

Took a business lunch today at this very specious and popular midtown eatery. Nice quality. Pricey. Many people from local offices flock here for lunch break. Nice place.

Mangia is a very sleek lunch and early quick dinner place on 57th. It's clean and has a variety of hot food weighed by the pound and made up sandwiches and wraps which can be heated or toasted. Good choices and surprisingly good cappuccino. Friendly and obliging service as well.

Ambient is good and practical, not fancy. Food is good and not expensive. Very good place for a decent meal if you are near to 57th street.

They are too much in a hurry to prepare a descent quality food. Ordered often messed up, smell inside is pretty bed.

this is the place to stop for quick and delicious breakfast or lunch in midtown. The antipasti are legendary but the juices and baked goods are equally wonderful.

A science - quick and easy in and out! Clean and fresh and they will tailor the choices so you can get exactly what you want!

We visited a couple of these on our trip. The food was good but the shops / toilets were quite dirty. Each time we visited was for breakfast so it wasn't even as if there had been a whole day's trading which would have made the floors dirty. Also many of the staff didn't speak good English so it was difficult to explain what we wanted on some occasions. Would have been nice to have been given proper plates and cutlery when eating in , instead of the takeaway plastic stuff.

When you walk in this unassuming eatery your toughest decision will be how much of everything can you eat. The restaurant seating upstairs has a did decent feel than the grab and go downstairs, but both are excellent

Quality of The food really good and noce environment tupe of like a grab and go environment but with nice seating teables after you pay... Recomended if you are looking for no too formal dine and lunch. Would like to try breakfast....
Great food served fast!
Stopped in for breakfast while walking by. The food was tasty with a good variety of choices. Friendly staff too.
