Best steak experience of my life!

By DMA3384 |

Literally no restaurant will compare in steak that this steakhouse. First of all had lovely wine selection and huge chips portions. I highly recommend the New York Pepper Steak! Unbelievable flavours, with truffle mushroom and onions on the side made a perfect dish. The waiters were very accomodating of my allergies and were a delight.

Good Times.Modern and Fun.

By Julian T |

We had pre booked. Arrived early and sat at the bar and made to feel welcome. The live piano was great, made for a lively but easy night. The food was great! The NY Strip was tasty and prepared perfectly. The sides for 2 were enough for a family!! Would recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately Mastro’s is ruined

By Brusdad |

Maestro’s used to be my favorite restaurant. Because of the pandemic etc. I had not visited in a while. I had read that they were purchased by Landry’s I was a bit concerned if the Mastro’s experience has changed. Unfortunately the answer was yes, starting with the poor service attitude, the fact that the service staff, including our waiter barely spoke english. Obviously, the well trained properly compensated staff of the past do not exist. The menu changes took away some of my favorites and screwed up some others (who ever heard of a “chopped wedge” salad. The steak was improperly cooked but no one ever checked to make sure things were perfect like they used to do. Clearly there are far better steakhouses in New York. Skip Mastro’s.

That Butter Cake.......

By Aydril |

Dining here will result in smiles all round. These come from the great service, amazing food and all round enjoyment you get from dining at a place like this. Steaks were amazing, which I guess you would expect from a steakhouse, but its all the added extras that really give it a point of difference. And THAT Butter cake.......if you haven't tried it, you should, it is AH-MAZ-ING.

Mastro's the Magnificent in Midtown

By 360 MAGAZINE |

In midtown Manhattan, Maestro's Steakhouse is a fine dining institution that is nicely tucked away. Reservations are recommended as this is a popular venue for celebratory events like birthdays, engagements, and graduations. The overall impression is of beautifully decorated surroundings with a dinner service that is dimly lit. The front of house is impeccable and the majority of the menu items were delicious. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. Their handcrafted cocktails and preferred wine list complement each other well. We would like to express our gratitude to our server Ronnie and the newly hired assistant management (young lady with braids).

Disappointing - much better choices for steak elsewhere in NYC

By Stan C |

We ordered the Porterhouse steak which was average in quality and could not tell which side was sirloin which was filet. Sides from spinach to french fries were either flavorless to too salty. Large wine list but very over priced. Feels like a “chain” with zero charm.

Fantastic pre graduation dinner with family and friends

By EWMIMIKE |

This was our first trip to Mastro’s and will not be the last!!! Great experience with reservations... I did make them 2 weeks in advance since we were a party of 10... the atmosphere was fun... a bit loud but very fun... our server had a fantastic personal touch... we had two seafood towers with delicious fresh seafood ... steaks were unbelievable! I had a blackened rare bone in rib eye Pittsburgh style... they nailed it! Very very good! A definite New York City destination!

The best steaks

By GrzegorzA |

I went to a mastro steakhouse with my wife for Valentine's Day. I visit this restaurant every time I'm in New York. They have great steaks here. Our favorite is New York Peper Steak. The "Chef's Cut" Ribeye Chop and Bon-In Ribeye is also excellent. For each visit the waiter welcomes us with a basket of excellent fresh bread. They also have a great selection of wines. Most often we choose a Cabernet Sauvignion from California, which suits the steaks perfectly. For dessert, we rarely have enough space. We recently tasted Warm Butter Cake. It was delicious! I recommend this restaurant!

Average for a good steakhouse in DC

By Ann G |

We’ve eaten in many steak houses and it was on par with others such as capital grill & Ruth Chris. Good food but it’s what I would expect for a steakhouse in DC. Thought the prices were rather high. The ambiance was nice but would have been nicer as there was very loud music when we entered which was coming from the bar area. Unfortunately they had speakers throughout the restaurant so you could hear the music all over which minimized the atmosphere; although the sound was not as loud towards the rear of the restaurant. We ate at the Plume the night before which was superior in comparison in every way. I only gave it 3 stars because the Plume was 5 stars to me in every way.

Great meal

By bigedrose |

Seated us early. Dinner was awesome. It is a $$$$$ place but that's what we were looking for!! Will dine again!!

Disappointing

By linda |

When we got there they were rude from the start. It was mad busy, big parties going on. We were seated by the toilet in the down stairs area with a picture on the wall to look at. We had lobster and shrimp cocktail which was presented nicely and steak rib on bone and a petit filet 6oz, and it was petite! We were given the signature butter cake without asking which we assumed was complementary and when finished presented with the bill, again without asking or if we were finished, to find we had been charged for the butter cake! When we left we had to ask for door man to get our coats as the cloakroom lady had disappeared. Disappointing considering the price. There are far superior restaurants in NY

Terrible attitude!

By Anne P |

Went to eat a good steak before a show and couldn’t even be seated. They had a terrible attitude and told my child that their “athletic wear” wasn’t up to the restaurants standards. Do yourself a favor and do not go to this tourist trap.

Do your homework, go elsewhere

By William M |

Service: was good, our waitress was polite and knowledgeable. Came to the table often and when something needed to be replaced it was quickly Food: I had an overpriced 22 oz Ribeye with the bone. When it arrived, it looked like a 12 oz shriveled up worn out piece of meat. For the cost, way too much fat. The sides were decent, had garlic potatoes, and sautéed Spinach. Dress Code: From their website, they want you to believe that they have a dress code. While I was there, everything they say they would not tolerate, they allowed in. That might sound snobbish, but when you take the time to dress according to their requirements and it is 95 degrees outside, I would have loved to have worn shorts as the other patrons. The stars they get for my review are strictly for the service. I will not go to this place again.

Not bad at all

By Russ F |

If your in the Hilton Midtown area this is not a bad place for dinner. Yes, its a loud NYC midtown steakhouse. But, the food is good. No, its not a Peter Lugar or a Keen's but its a good steakhouse in a good location. The service is not bad at all for a busy restaurant. It has a unique character that I enjoyed. Outside NYC this would be a very good steakhouse but judging by those standards I consider it average.

Great Steak

By Scott982 |

Went for lunch and had filet, Mastro's mashed potatoes (with bacon and cheese), and snow peas. Delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly. Tender. Seasoned well. Great steakhouse. Not busy but we went for a late lunch.

Perfect Saturday evening

By Gary M |

Atmosphere , food, staff and music made for a perfect Saturday evening. Steaks were some of the best we've had. Service was prompt. Great atmosphere for anyone looking for a Romantic evening. It's got a great vibe going all around.

Lunch special is fantastic.

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I came here once for dinner and I could not have been more pleased with the service and the food. Paulo was one of the best waiters I have ever experienced. This time I came for lunch and sat at the bar. The wonderful bartender, Sabastion, noticed that my hand was bleeding. He immediately rushed downstairs to get me a medicine kit. While I cleaned the wound and bandaged it, he made me a drink and served it with a smile and concern. The wonderful fixed price lunch with several choices was only $29.00 I had a delicious stake sandwich and lobster bisque. This was not an ordinary steak but a large slice of steak that melted in my mouth. As I left, I was so pleased that I knew that I would return someday. That someday was two days later because the doctor called me and told me to return two days later to have a cancer removed from my arm. Once again I stopped to eat at this wonderful restaurant. This time a beautiful young lady named Keri waited on me. She was as nice and efficient as she was beautiful. We laughed about the fact that I had left my charge card two days before and I called and told the manager to destroy it because I would not be back in NYC for few months. Here I was, two days later siting at the same bar using a different charge card. Anyway, I ordered the great lobster bisque and deviated from the lunch menu to enjoy the most delicious oysters Rockefeller I had ever tasted. I also enjoyed two very well made and very large absolute and club sodas.I have always heard that this restaurant was ultra expensive. The bill came to a little over 50 Dollars which was well worth the price. I know one thing. I will return to Mastros again and again.

Anniversary dinner

By Scott C |

My wife and I visited NYC for Thanksgiving to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We made reservations at Mastro's for Sunday evening before going to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table right away. One of the first questions our server asked was if we were going to a show so he could make sure we were out in time. From that very first impression until we walked out, the experience was perfect! The food was spectacular; she had the filet and I had salmon. We split the mac & cheese and finished the meal with their famous butter cake, which you must eat when you dine there! They even brought us a nice piece of chocolate cake for our anniversary, which they boxed up for us. The music was excellent and we didn't feel that it was too loud as some have commented. Looking back on our trip, this was our favorite meal! Well done, Mastro's!

Top Quality NYC Steakhouse

By Buck G |

Expensive, but worth it. Comfortable table accommodations; prompt. knowledgeable service staff. Highest quality steaks and seafood; very well prepared and served on a hot plate. Creamed corn and mashed potato side dishes were delicious. Very good wine list.

Food is good, atmosphere is awful

By jpsfl1 |

This restaurant can only be termed as odd. On the one hand, the service is quite good. The food is only average for a NYC steakhouse. Not bad, but inconsistent. Two of our party had steaks. They were good, not great. One had salmon- it was tough and chewy. The sides were alternately great- and awful. My baked potato had a cold center- ice cold. What was really off putting was the environment. It was beyond loud- to the point you had to almost yell to be heard across the table, or have the waiter cup his hand to your ear. Part of this is the live entertainment. The piano/singer were good- but blasted at a volume better for bar band, not a steak house. Add to that the frat party groups of obnoxious, drunk, loud guys- and I am a guy who loves a good party! However, when I go to a "luxury steakhouse" I don't expect to sit next to a table of 12 idiots who are way beyond hammered, breaking glasses, pounding the table and screaming F bombs at each other, like some group of 16 year old this is our first time drinking fools. And management did nothing. Go to the restroom downstairs- same scene. Tables of 2 to 4 people out for a nice dinner, with tables of 8-16 drunken clowns out for a bachelor party or guys night out, cursing and acting like morons. While management just lets it all happen. This place needs to decide what it is- a guys night out, no holds barred party spot, or an upscale steakhouse for families and people wanting a good meal and a night out. You cannot be both.

Definitely worth it!

By Ivan GF |

Beautiful decorated place, great vibe and atmosphere, live music and great service. Food was perfectly cooked and great outstanding flavor, raw entrees were amazing and meat cooked on point. Dessert was everything you could hope for.

Back at Mastro’s with first Timers!!!

By msdet1529 |

We’re back at Mastro’s and this time we brought friends who love beef, from Long Island, and met them while vacationing in Aruba!!! A great table on Saturday night near the stage was a comfy high top. Assigned to wait on us was the lovely ANGELICA, who was charming, polite, and was aces on her service and smile. A bottle of 2016 Stag’s Leap Karia, Chardonnay started our night. Followed by a custom ordered, multi level seafood tower with shrimps, oysters, crab legs, and lobster. Oh so fresh, nice size portions, cold on ice, smoking and delish!!! A few ice cold and delish salads followed with a lettuce wedge, bacon spinach salad, and a mixed green... no greens for me!!! For the main course, one Filet Mignon for my love, a nice sized rib eye, for our lovely friend, a Filet Mignon and lobster tail for her man and my buddy Big Mike, and for the first time, I had the Lamb Chops. All four meat entrees were grilled perfectly to a medium rare for the beef and my lamb chops were a nice Medium, that’s my taste, my beef is usually medium rare, for the lamb, I think medium is the best way to go... 9 beautiful lamb chops full of flavor, nice display, and delish!!! And for the sides... our fav creamed corn, steamed broccoli, gnocchi, and mashed potatoes. Way too much food!!! Lol!!! And of course there’s room for dessert and we had to have the world famous butter cake!!! Sweet, moist, flavorful, with vanilla ice cream and hitting the spot!!! We splurged and also ordered the chocolate Butter cake. With a generous scoop of chocolate ice cream, we all agreed that the original butter cake takes the cake!!! But you should be the judge!!! Overall, we ate like it was our last meal, and we made two new fans of Mastro’s!!! The service by Angelica was top notch perfect!!! Can’t beat the steaks and the seafood tower!!! We will be back this summer!!! I hope Someone from Landry’s read this... Especially Mr TF!!! Enjoy!!! 🥩🥩🥩🍽🍽🍽

You need to visit this restaurant.

I wanted to take the time to post this review of Mastro’s Steakhouse in Manhattan. This restaurant never disappoints. Greg the General Manager and his team of Daisy, and Q make sure they run the restaurant fabulously. You definitely notice that everyone feels satisfied and comfortable. The food is always cooked to perfection, and there is live music every night. You’re never rushed—you can relax and truly enjoy the fabulous ambiance. It’s my favorite place in all of New York City. I can’t say enough about the food, drinks, and the music. Because of Greg, Daisy, and Q, we find ourselves coming back often. Thank you, Mastro’s, for having such an incredible team.

Lovely Steak Meal

By Lenny M |

We visited here for an early birthday meal for my wife. Family are Steak fans so was an obvious choice. Service was excellent, drinks were lovely and the Meatballs and Calamari staters weee amazing. Then came the fillet steaks and those were special… great sides also with fries and creamed corn… all in all a very enjoyable meal. Price is on the higher side, but worth it for the food and service.

Best Steak!

By venisonking |

A friend of ours suggested this place, so we met her there. We got there first and found it to be pricey. I ordered a lemon drop and I thought it was $20 for a little martini glass, but in fact they leave you the whole shaker and it comes with dry ice...it was sooo good! We also ordered other drinks...all good. My husband and I decided to share a few things, caesar salad, steak, mac/cheese and we tried our friends scallops and creamy spinach...all very good. The steak was delicious...best steak we've had in a long time and worth the money! We would go back!

Yessss!

By Wild Radek |

Service, ambiance and food at its finest. Hands down the best steak house with a signature upscale vibe. Masterful fillets, lobster mash potatoes and any place that has iceberg wedges will get my vote. Across from Radio City. Like everything else in town…. Reserve early. We’ll be back:)

Fantastic

RESTAURANT - NEW YORK ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Situated on 6th Avenue, this was a great recommendation ! The restaurant is very elegant, set on two levels, we sat downstairs, the service is very friendly, with a buzzing atmosphere, a very busy restaurant. The food was superb, lobster cocktail starter was next level, and the ribeye steaks were perfect. If you are in New York and you like a nice a steak, then this is a must.

Amazing

This was one of the best places I have ever eaten. The Tower Seafood appetizer was outstanding. The quality of the seafood was all so good. My husband had the Bone in Ribeye and said it was one of the best he had ever had. Recommend this place!!!!

MEAT!

This is a high end steakhouse that never disappoints. Service is impeccable. Food is delicious. Lively ambiance. Reservations are a wise choice. Prepare to be pampered.

Hostess

By TYLER G |

Good evening, I went to Mastro’s tonight around 7pm for a night out in the town with my lover on 6th ave & we were super excited to eat there. However, that is not how the night ended. I am not too sure of the hostess name but she has semi short red curly hair. She was highly disrespectful in her delivery when speaking with us. We were dealing with a male hostess and she inserted herself in the conversation. Her immediate insert wasn’t pleasing, her demeanor wasn’t friendly and her tone was disrespectful. At one point she found herself going back and forth with me. I had to remind her I was the customer. But she continued to be rude and it resulted in me leaving out the restaurant.

The best Steak ever

By ManagerKaren01 |

Wow, the best steak we have ever had, and we have been to some of the best restaurants in the world including steakhouses and other restaurants in Atlantis Dubai and Bellagio Las Vegas. Good food, outstanding service from staff. Located not far from 5th Avenue, so pleased we found it. Highly recommend a visit.

Excellent

You get what you pay for. Crab cocktail ... fantastic. Kansas bone in ... Cooked great. Lobster mashed potato awesome. John the bartender downstairs... awesome. Expensive.. yes. But like I said ... worth it.

Very Good

By Scott H |

On our first night of five in the big city, my son and I dined here. It definitely has the big city vibe of the great steakhouses. The lighting at our table was a notch or two below dim--definitely needed my phone's flashlight to see the menu (though I could see other tables nearer to light fixtures had it better on this front). Drinks are big and good, including the gin martini I ordered. The bread basket had many treats in it, including the pretzel rolls my son devoured. Both of our steaks--a filet for my son, a bone-in ribeye for me--were cooked wonderfully and deeply seasoned, served with a nice melted butter sauce. My side dish of gratin potatoes was passable but not a standout. The other side dish of shoestring potatoes were very good, although 6 people could have gotten their fill from the huge sleeve of taters they brought us. Desserts were good though not overly memorable. So overall, if you want to burn though some cash (as you always do at steakhouses), Mastro will provide a good experience.

Amazing steaks!

By tvmtc |

I've been to Mastro's steakhouse 3 times. I used to be a Del Frisco's fan, but not anymore. I highly recommend Mastros!

Best dessert, had to go back again the next night!

By ashleynb d |

Great restaurant! Very nice atmosphere. The food was great, from the Sushi to the steak to the sides. Best parts - Lobster Sushi Shoe string fries BUTTER CAKE The butter cake was absolutely to die for. It was so good that we came the next night after dinner just to have Butter Cake again at Mastro's. You have to try it!

Great place for high priced dining

By STIGuy1 |

The service was very good and the food was excellent. The steak was good, the asparagus was cooked to perfection, their chocolate cake was awesome. This was a fun evening on the town! Our waiter was very good.

No three strikes for me!

By MrsLuv2trvl |

Let me start by saying that Mastro's has been my family's favorite restaurant in NYC for years! We celebrated many milestones at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it in the PAST. I have had two bad experiences back to back now and I am not sure I am ready to give it another try any time soon. The last experience was so poor with six people at dinner that I wrote an email to the manager. I figured I would politely let them know that the service was far from the norm and never heard back from anyone. Visited again this past Saturday night only to have a waitress who could care less about us being there (we sat in the bar area,) She barely paid attention to us. We had to ask for bread FOUR times and she brought it after our dinner had been served and finished... She advised us that she could not fill one of the drink requests as they didn't have one of the ingredients and proceeded to bring everyone else's drink and then came back after 15 minutes or more to see what the one guest chose in place of the first drink. I honestly do not know what is going on at Mastro's but the service has gone down hill for the caliber of restaurant that it is definitely two strikes and you are out for a long time in my book!

Disappointing Service....

By ERiley828 |

My sister and I dined at this location this evening celebrating our last vacation day in NYC. While the ambience of the restaurant was nice the service was horrible. We were seated right next to the singer in which the music was overbearing. The lamp on the table was not lit. We had to use the flashlight from our iPhones to read the menu. The waitress' attire was questionable. The front of the dress was extremely low cut... a lot of cleavage on display. Possibly, a nice form of entertainment for some patrons. Yet, for us it was annoying. Ironically, earlier in day we received a voicemail message confirming our reservation and informing us that the restaurant's dress code is business casual. The restaurant should remind the female staff of the dress code. The waitress did not check in to see how everything was going. Though she did run over to ask if I wanted another drink. Actually, I would like to sit in a less noisy area of the restaurant, have adequate lighting at my table and have a waitress who was genuinely concerned about my dining experience. For the price you pay to dine at this restaurant we were expecting exceptional service to compliment the food creating a memorable experience. Not tonight...

Good dinner but not perfect

By Summersnuggles |

Went with Kathy for dinner. We had a pretty good meal. We had Palo as a waiter who was excellent. I had the caesar salad and lobster tails. Excellent size and tasty Kathy had the Crab cocktail. It was wonderful. Kathy had the sea bass and that was not good. It was extremely fishy. Really nice restaurant.

Exceptional, great menu, staff, ambience

By Ralph Wilhelm |

We feel that this is one of the best restaurants in NYC….on a par with Aquavit in our opinion. This is one of about twenty Mastro’s across the US in about eight states, but does not feel like a chain. Plenty of seating in the NYC location, upstairs and down stairs. We sat downstairs and found it very quiet and comfortable. Excellent waiter (Sean) and wonderful food served hot and exactly as we would expect. We had drinks then appetizers (lobster bisque) and then a full salad and a six ounce filet…all done very well and excellent. Location to find this is a bit confusing as the 1285 Avenue of the Americas was great to find the general area, but in the collection of buildings and operations with the 1285 address on Sixth Avenue, Mastro’s is the north-most building…facing south of Sixth Avenue. Unless you are particularly “flush”, you will find Mastro’s to be on the high side of expensive….but in our opinion, very well worth it. Hope you give it a try for a special evening. You won’t regret it.

Outstanding Restaurant!!!

By NRMEdgmont |

We were here for a private event that had butlered hors d'oeuvres, seafood table, carving station, etc..... Everything was terrific! The seafood table had lobster tails that were delicious, large shrimp that were nicely cooked and seasoned, yummy raw oysters, lobster claws, king crab claws, seafood heaven! It was beautifully presented and tasted great! The carving station had prime filet, and it was prime! I had an extremely rare piece and it was tender and flavorful. My husband wanted the crunchy end, which is always tasty, BUT, the rare slice I had was much better!! Also, we were fortunate in that they were butlering some mini desserts. O M G.. the mini butter cake was absolutely delicious. There was also a little cherry crunch something that ranked way up there also!! The staff at the restaurant were exceedingly attentive, polite, friendly, and delivered great service! The bartenders were also very good an dservice oriented. We greatly enjoyed our visit!

Great experience

By Carlton B |

My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary and had an amazing experience. The food was amazing, albeit a little expensive, with a good choice of wines. The service was also great from our waiter, Christian. The other great part of the evening was that there was a live band playing who were also really good which added to the experience. Overall fabulous.

My daughter and I showed up there around mid-afternoon to eat lunch. We were not dressed appropriately and were told so. The person at the host stand did seat us but wanted us to know we needed to scram before the supper crowd came in. Good food.

Excellent steakhouse with traditional dishes. An asset is the friendly and proffesional stuff. We really enjoy the meal.

Outrageously Wonderful

By I8025IKdonnal |

From the moment Vicky called to confirm, to the minute she greeted us when we arrived--Mastro's lived up to the recommendation we received from the American Express Concerige. In fact, FAR EXCEEDED! Mark was our server/waiter and he was a PURE DELIGHT; and a master/pro. His wine recommendation complemented our meal wonderfully well. We took his recommendation of starting with their calamari that was served hot, crisp and just delicious. When it came time to order dinner; after a large brunch -- we again listened and went with small plates of crab cakes and scallops! OMG! Pure crab meat and the sweetest and best scallops ever; complimented with their wild mushrooms. These courses served by Bryce; masterful in his technique and a nice compliment to our charming and delightful Mark. And what could have better but, the sweet touch of Mastro's recognizing our birthdays with their exceptional sponge cake AND chocolate cake with homemade whipped cream. Manager Brian stopped by to check on us and wish us a Happy Birthday; such a wonderful touch. Freshly brewed coffee ended our perfect meal before heading out for second show of the day. Mastro's is a fine tuned and well run restaurant with team members like Mark who take exceptional pride in his work; Bryce, Vicky and Brian. With a kitchen who turns out amazing food to have us planning our next NYC adventure with a return trip to Mastro's! The management team has every good reason to be proud! This is a class act; and a wonderful location! Don't miss it!

Excellent food - but not much else positive to say

By S M |

The food was outstanding. The roast chicken and fillet steak were prepared beautifully; delicious. The crab cake and french onion soup for starters were excellent. The kitchen standard is first class. However, would not return. The noise from a band was booming far too loud throughout the restaurant; not what was expected. Lost the waiting staff for most of the meal. After the starters, the dirty dishes sat on the table for 10 to 15 minutes, with no sign of the waiting staff. Sat with empty glasses for 10 to 15 minutes at a time through the meal; had to find another waiting staff member to see if they could find our bottle of wine or even just water to get something to drink with the food. That is, we needed to drink something during the main meal. Similarly, waited such a long while for main meal dirty dishes to be cleared. Still no sign of our waitress and had to look for someone else to ask for dessert menus. In terms of atmosphere, I was not expecting to see so many diners in jeans, sweatshirts and trainers for an evening meal in the main restaurant downstairs. Whilst not the restaurant’s fault, the table beside us was so incredibly loud, with two men yelling at top of their voices for length of the whole meal. Overall, fantastic food - but the meal was spoiled by poor service and dreadful noise. Dined Friday 8th November 2019.

Medium Rare isn’t Well Done

By DonNY845 |

Most of the food was good but missing something. The Brussels sprouts are amazing but when you receive a nice cut steak and ask for it medium rare, it’s a miss when it’s well done. Unfortunately after waiting too long I decided to eat. Disappointing meal due to my meal being way over cooked!

Nice meal but average service

By PMHiggins |

We arrived a few minutes early for our dinner and were told to wait for our table to be ready. We waited for over 10 minutes and it seemed they'd forgotten about us. We were then shown to our table. Upstairs it was very loud and more of a party atmosphere. Downstairs was quieter. My fillet steak was tender and cooked correctly. The sides were too salty though. The service at the table was good but not exceptional.

It was OK

By Manuela S |

We arrived and there was confusion on where to seat us. We were offered a table in the lower level, away from live music and action. When asked if we could stay in the main restaurant, they offered us a high table in the middle of the room where the very cold air condition was blowing at us. Only after asking for a regular table, we could sit near a window. The food was OK. A bit overpriced for the quality and experience.

Fancy diner in a trendy location.

By Gaia_Ldn |

Book in advance to get a table, else you will eat at the bar. Expect to spend quiet a bit for the occasion! Dress out to go to this restaurant, though you will be allowed in if you aren't dressed because you have been sightseeing all day and stopped by without any booking. If you do not have any booking, you might get a seat but it is get booked up advance with Fridays and Saturdays being the most popular evenings. The steak portions are big so order 1 meat dish for two. Sides are large too, so two are enough if you are two and hungry. The mac and cheese was good and so was the mushroom dish. The bread basket served as a starter is nice and large too, so have a bit on the pretzel bread and keep the rest to go with your main.

One of the best steak houses in New York

By Alex S |

We had a great experience here. My sister-in-law and her husband needed to catch the flight after the dinner and we asked for a super fast service. It was super fast and at the same time we had enough time to enjoy the food. Every dish was cooked to perfection and every person who served us was super nice. New York has plenty of steak houses. Mastro’s is definitely one of the top ones. We will definitely come back here.

Excellent

Excellent food and service. The best of the best here. You will not be disappointed. Steak, lobster, fish, soup, salad, dessert, it was all great. Atmosphere was fun.

Generous portions

By Sixtys0methings |

We were in New York to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and had a special evening meal here. We were served by Sean who was very friendly and welcoming, and took a little time to chat to us. Our prawn cocktail was served in style with dry ice billowing over the table, and my lobster bisque soup was delicious! The steak was juicy and tender served with the biggest basket of french fries (which we barely dented) and delicious sautéed asparagus. We shared a dessert which was delightfully presented with a candle and 'Happy Anniversary" greetings, all in all a lovely evening.

Food amazing service Mason

Food amazing service Mason bartender was a breath of fresh air so friendly and accommodating. Then Sam the manager was also wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. Bareback Ivan, was very nice and helpful. They all made our evening special. Of course the waterfall and fire pits are gorgeous and music is topping on the whole experience thank you Mastro’s! ♥️

Plates full of great flavor

By M.M.M. |

We had a large party and everyone we ordered a variety of appetizers. Not great sharing portions but amazing flavor. Entrees we’re single portion good size and sides are al e carte but large enough to share between 5-6 people, so we ordered 4 for the table which was perfect. Steak was cooked perfectly, fish selection is amazing and everything tasted amazing. Dessert portions are huge and delicious! Highly recommend. Keep in mind it’s expensive.

Top Notch with prices to match.

By joelwildman |

Dined there twice. I enjoyed the live trio at the piano bar. Dinner will run nearl $100 per person. I did love the veal chop One evening with a side was about $85 plus tip and no drink. Second night shared a rack of lams, filet on the bone and two sides. More than enough for three. Check was about $200. I highly recommend the food. Service excellent but beverage service prepare for a mortgage payment. Not just here but cannot stand high end eateries who serve you a 10 ounce bottle of soda and obviously no refills. When you spend $100 for a meal, just my humble onion, a Diet Coke shouldn’t be more than five dollars. Again not just here. The food worth money but order a glass of water with a lemon😁,

Excellent service and great meal

By Shawn |

Our server, Sean, was attentive, fun, and professional. He made sure we were well taken care of as we were celebrating birthdays. We were a party of 4 and the steaks were all done to perfection with delicious side dishes to share. We did not leave there hungry. Prior to our seating, we enjoyed 2 cocktails at the bar and were very pleased. We would return for another meal.

Disappointing birthday

By Ttb |

Let me start by saying that I truly understand that the pandemic is taking its toll on all restaurants and I try to adjust my expectations accordingly, however, there is no excuse for a lack of attentiveness. My birthday dinner was a huge disappointment. We chose to eat outside thinking that Mastro’s would do their best to try and create a great experience for their outside diners. Instead we were treated as an afterthought. Stuck outside in what could only be described as someone’s backyard furniture covered with a table cloth. No lighting, no music, no staff, no heater’s and not one manager outside the whole evening. So many Mom and Pop restaurants around the city are doing more with less. We have eaten here several times and knew what we wanted to order however our waiter could barely spend time outside long enough to take our order. No specials, nothing but constant upsellling. He sold us bechamel sauce for our steak only to bring it with truffle butter instead saying they didn’t have bechamel. No apology no attempt to assist. He was upset when we didn’t order sides and when the steak was removed it took 15 min to come back to the table. We ordered oysters as and appetizer and four of the dozen came with little to no meat. Just not what you would expect for a nearly $400 meal. Apparently our waiter doesn’t need the money or we just didn’t spend enough to make it worthwhile. The table next to us who were friends with the busboy got great service. We thought we were doing a great thing supporting one of our favorites. It doesn’t seem to matter to them. If you want to stay open be appreciative of those braving the cold to support you.

Good food

Awesome food , great service. The drinks are very flavorful. I would highly recommend. Exquisite steaks. Make a reservation

Pass....they don't live up to their name

By Campbell V |

THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN NYC! We arrived 30 minutes to have drinks at the bar, which we were told the bar was closed for an event. Absurd seeing they called to confirm reservation and could have told us this, after a moment of back and force, they let us go to the bar....WITH HUGE STARES FROM THE STAFF. Then they sat us, banished to the corner in the basement, next to the elevator that they were using to take "racks" of glasses up and down in the elevator, a musical used it to brings his drums down and knocked over a glass on our table and we had the pleasure of watching them carry tables down the stairs that were part of the party. Absolutely horrible horrible experience for a fine dining restaurant in NYC.

Too unreliable for delivery

By Alexandra Leighton |

While the food is good, too often, the restaurant sits on a delivery order for a half hour to an hour then cancels. You’re left with a lost hour and back at the beginning, searching for a steakhouse if one is still open while you starve. Very unreliable restaurant and not better than the reliable options in midtown.

Best steak and live music

By Charlotte H |

Excellent meal from start to finish. We had a drink at the bar as we arrived a bit early for our reservation (although we were told we could be seated straight away if we wanted) and enjoyed the cocktails and brilliant live music. Then we went to our table which initially was upstairs, we requested to sit downstairs where it was a bit quieter, we'd really enjoyed the live music with cocktails but as we'd just got engaged we wanted a little more quiet during dinner so we could talk comfortably. Moving tables was catered for happily. The food was heaven, especially the butter cake (which we shared between us as it is large!). Would go back without hesitation next time we're in NY.

Great Food and Service

By David V |

We had a large party of eight and they couldn't have done a better job getting the orders correct, and being attentive. I had an 8oz. fillet with twice baked potato (the potato was large enough for both myself and my wife). Yes, it is very pricey but we felt the value was there.

Should have given a 1

By Mlleron |

Really disappointed. My partner took he trainer for a festive Christmas celebration. We ordered 3 steaks, and a swordfish. We ordered 2 of the steaks rare and one black and blue. The waiter was sort of mocking when he asked if my partner knew what black and blue was. She has run a trading floor for the last 20 years- she knows what black and blue is at an NYC steakhouse. We we're sadly disappointed to see all of them cooked till they looked gray. The swordfish was a total disaster, mealy cooked through, tasteless except for bad texture. I specifically ordered it rare, pink in the middle. The waiter was surprised anyone would eat it this way (hasn't he eaten at many of the fine restaurants in NYC which do fish to perfection?) Wont be back. As I said, there are some great steakhouses in the general area, go to them don't waste your money at MAstro's.

40th birthday

By LPGC-79 |

My husband took me here for my 40th birthday meal while visiting NYC from Scotland and I have to say our meal was fantastic, we shared the portabello steak which was cooked perfectly to our liking, ordered sides of lobster mash, onion rings and creamed spinach which were all really tasty but far to big for us to finish which is by no means a complaint we just ordered to much, drinks list was great too, all in all a great restaurant with great food and top notch service and if we are ever in NYC again we will be sure to reserve a table here again!

Disinterested staff and poor quality !

By Lord_Dawson |

Not being acknowledged by the bar tender should have been a clue ... I’m sure he is a nice chap really BUT as the face of thee establishment - this chap needs re training ! he didn’t face me / us ... hardly spoke ! The reception staff were also somewhat ‘mute’ and the manager seems ineffective ! I asked for prawn cocktail ! Apparently you had to buy each prawn ... I get it now but the waiter didn’t really help explain the concept ... when it did arrive it was like a science experiment! Fun but cheesy ! The steak ! I’ve been travelling to the USA for 36 years and this was my low point ! The chef’s cut ! Cut from what I ask !!! I’ve enclosed a photo ! Either the chef needs training or the steak suppler needs firing ! I’ve shown a photo ! On a positive note ... the manager did step in at the end ... im never keen on receiving a discount on my meal - it’s not the point ... But he insisted !!! and as they got the steaks so badly wrong - I accepted his offer - I guess his attempt to redeem the situation- which is fair play! I won’t go back ...

Great food with friendly staff

By Sivan M |

The restaurant has plenty of good meats and cut to choose from alongside the sides. Their crab cakes are solid and I also recommend trying their seafood. The desserts were also amazing and the buttercake was delicious with their ice cream.

Service with a terrible attitude. Too loud. Food so-so. Worst Mastros I have ever been too.

By David C |

Food (3/5): The char on my steak was excellent, but it came out more medium than the medium-rare I ordered. Not bad enough to return, but definitely below the Mastro’s standard. The sushi, however, was flat-out terrible — I would strongly suggest no one orders it. Service (1/5): Unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the experience. Our server, Julian, had a bit of an attitude and didn’t make much of an effort to accommodate us. The restaurant was very loud, yet instead of adjusting for that, I actually found myself standing up to catch what he was saying. On top of that, my fork was dirty when it was set on the table — not what I’d expect from a restaurant of this level. The one bright spot was the bell staff, who were excellent and ended up providing more attentive service than Julian. Ambiance: Typical Mastro’s look and feel, but tables were tightly packed and the noise level was so high we had to raise our voices to talk. Overall: The steak had good flavor, but between the disappointing sushi, subpar service (dirty silverware included), and a cramped, overly loud atmosphere, this location falls well short of other Mastro’s I’ve visited.

Not bad aside from chewing gum under table

By Nick Batty |

The waiter was excellent, the water kept flowing well, the steak (filet mignon) was cooked perfectly. The pianist was excellent the the table we asked for was all ready. All in all the meal was excellent, the only reason I didn’t give this 5* was because the underside of the table was riddled with disposed of chewing gum, which was disgusting and disappointing that these small things are not checked by the table service folks prior to sitting guest down.

Great steakhouse with one small hiccup

By DrMikeinNJ |

I have been to several other Mastro’s locations, but never New York. Decided to give it a try Pre Theater with my family of six. The location is good, just a short walk from Times Square. We were promptly seated at 5 PM. There was only one other table dining at the moment. Restaurant got busier by 7 PM. We had excellent service. We ordered several appetizers, including oysters, salads, and a wagyu steak tartare, which was phenomenal. I ordered the chefs cut ribeye, which was perfectly cooked. My kids all had the filet mignon. Steaks came out on time, with sides (lobster mash, mushrooms). Everyone had perfectly cooked steaks. My only complaint was at the end— waiter knew we had a 7PM show, and when we asked for the check at 6:30, it took 15 minutes for him to come back with it. Im not sure what the delay was, but we ended up being late for our show. Annoying. In the end we had a great meal and will likely be back.

great food, good service, perfect place for a business lunch

By Francesca N |

I had a French onion soup (really very good), a burger and the signature dessert (butter cake with vanilla ice cream) which serves for at least 2 people. Everything was very good.

Dinner with Co-Workers

By Sonja C |

When you initally walk in it is very dark. Actually you cannot even see the food that you are eating. The restaruant was very busy and they had someone playing the piano and singing as well. Could not even really hear the music as it is very loud in the restaurant. I had the filet mignon which was like butter. Along with sweet potato fries and brussel sprouts. It would be better if it was abit brighter.

Cant wait to return

By Nycjaclyn |

Met with friends and had dinner and drinks at the bar. They had a live singer she was singing 90s r&b. We had an excellent meal and staff was amazing. I will be back soon!

Steak, cake and bake!

By Melanie C |

My second visit to Maestro’s was another scrumptious meal! We started off with the baked king crab truffle gnocchi - out of this world! A must. The steak is like butter, it just melts in your mouth. Which brings me to the butter cake which is insane! One of my favorite steakhouses in NYC! Service was superb as usual (thanks Ronnie!).

Raheem to the rescue

By Rachel C |

In town for business with my wife and decided to check this location out as we a frequent patrons of their Fort Lauderdale location. Needless to say, the food didn't disappoint. Arrived for dinner, however the restaurant was packed and there were no reservations available. Two front hostesses we very rude and not accommodating. Looked at us like "oh well", and proceeded to help people behind us. We then walked past those two toward the bar where we found two seats next to a pleasant woman sitting alone who invited us to sit next to her. The reason we are giving this location five stars is because we were finally greeted by Raheem a bartender at the front bar. He rolled out the red carpet. Very personable and pleasant, seems as if he really enjoyed being there. The drinks he made were amazing and made sure we didn't need for anything. The two girls at the front should take a page from Raheem's script. We will be back to sit at the bar and kick it with Raheem soon.

Not worth it

By e4d5 |

The service is adequte, but not great. The noise level is very high. Perhaps others like the “buzz,” but I was there for a dinner meeting and had difficulty hearing. The wait staff kept bumping into my chair because the tables are too close together. The coat check and greeters don’t actually seem to know what they are supposed to do. The steak, however, was good.

Best steak everywhere !

By Rosa P |

Had gone to this steakhouse in Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago, various times but never to the New York one. As always this trumps any other good steakhouses you may go to. The quality of the meat, the perfect cooking, lobster mashed potatoes, you just cannot do any better. Service is good and atmosphere is nice too.

Just.... don't.

By MichaelsFood |

Right off the bat.... this restaurant is NOT fine dining, even though their price point would lead you to believe it is. Secondly, the restaurant is literally two steak houses in one. The main dining room is excessively loud, especially with the live singer and pianist apparently thinking this was a concert venue. The lower level is cozy and quiet, and apart from there being no windows, you'd never know you're in the basement. I don't know if my family knew about the lower floor, but if you want to have ANY kind of conversation book your reservation downstairs. Food and drinks: Six people at our table and the drinks came out one at a time over a ten minute period. Not acceptable. The food.... it didn't even remotely live up to expectations or their price point. Steaks were decent but nowhere near Next Level as described. Brussels sprouts were inedible due to oversalting. The replacement was a bit less salty but still over.... like amateur hour at the Garnish Station. Our server was.... okay. She had more tables than she should have, so i blame her inattentiveness on management. We will never go back.

Old school Steak

By RiSiBl |

Wow - what a superb place to eat, drink, socialize, see and be seen! Our party of 8 sat downstairs and were immediately greeted by the very knowledgeable and helpful waiter - first order of cocktails and a peruse of the menu. No question, it’s a premium steakhouse, so steak is required. I had bone in filet - I like a red almost uncooked inside, but a nice charred outside. It arrived perfectly formed, as did the meat of my companions - Ribeye, NY Strip and one Tuna - which by the way was apparently superb also. The side orders that accompanied the meat arrived with a stream of waiters and waitresses - all plated out for us. Nice. It’s worth noting the staff here - all look like they play jazz club on the weekends! Very cool in white linen jackets! The meal was superb, and finished with of course something sweet - cherry pie of course! Last note - the gentlemen’s bathroom - old school again - helpful attendant, lotion and towels. Impeccable service! Thanks Mastro’s!

Sunday evening top shelf food service and entertainment

Another top flight meal. Excellent service with every courtesy offered by management. Food always the best coupled with great live entertainment

Top 3 meals I have ever had!

By jonatmcdermott |

I have enjoyed many high end steak houses in cities around the country (NYC, Chicago, Omaha, Nashville, Dallas...etc) and from beginning to end this was the best experience and meal I have ever had! We decided to go there just an hour before arrival. I called and made the reservation. No problem. We were first seated downstairs, however we both wanted to dine upstairs and enjoy upstaris atmosphere. No problem. We were moved to a high top table in a perfect location. A few minutes later, a manager (Brian) asked us to move again becuase they placed us at a reserved table. He sincerely apologized and bought us drinks. All is great, he was very gracious. We were then seated next to the bar. Perfect. Not too far from everything, and not too near the live music where we could have a conversation. We were introduced to our server (Debra) who was fantastic. We ordered the bacon for our appetizer, the porterhouse for two as the main course with sides of sauteed asparagus and the lobster mashed potatoes. For desert, the warm butter cake. Everything, and I mean everything was perfection! Even the bread was outrageous. Like I've said in reviews before. You get what you pay for. By no means is this an inexpensive experience, however it is an experience that is well worth the price. For me, I live to eat and not eat to live.

Best lamb in the world

By Andy |

I’ve eaten all over the world, and I can honestly say the rack of lamb ribs are the best I’ve ever had. Deliciously tender and an incredible flavour these are just amazing. Deserts are outstanding, not that you need them as the main course portions are huge! Atmosphere is very modern and “cool” which creates a great dining experience . By far this is my favourite restaurant in NYC, although don’t dine here if you are on a budget!

1st time

By kcolton |

Decided to go here as it is a famous steakhouse in Orange County. My wife and I both had falaise though hers was bone and mine was not we shared scalloped potatoes tomato onion salad and spinnage fantastic service and food Would definitely go back

Nice Lunch!

By NoraExplorer |

I was invited to a luncheon event and the company picked this nice steakhouse. I heard about this steakhouse but I put it on the list to dine with Hubby one day. The event was downstairs and the dining area could accommodate 30-40 people. I sat with a group of people I never met and I ate well like everybody else. They offered a 3-course meal, so I got to pick each one. I did the mesclun greens, filet mignon (medium rare) and a cheesecake. The room's PA system was very good. I sat at the back because the front area seemed too close. I was closer to the bar area. Yes, there's a bar downstairs. I must admit that the steak was one of the best. Even the salad and cheesecake didn't disappoint. I didn't get the juice that I asked for, perhaps they were too busy running around serving others. I told Hubby about the steak and we plan to come here for dinner one night. The restaurant looked amazing, just like most steakhouses in the city.

Best Steak I have had in New York.

By ianjrose1 |

The restaurant is very dark but the Steaks are fantastic and even a good choice for my Wife who is Vegetarian.

Nothing Special

By jesjas |

What's up with restaurants being so dark you can't even read the menu. Also, while I appreciate a well poured drink, the martini was about 24 oz - why does it need to be that big - not classy. Food was good but nothing special for the price. They brought dessert to our table that we didn't order then tried charging us for it and later we found they double charged us tip on our bill which they have yet to reimburse us for.

Night club not a restaurant.

By Scott G |

Rude receptionist. Set up like a trashy club instead of a restaurant. I’m a regular in the restaurants in LA/OC. Completely different restaurant, completely different vibe. If you want a nice restaurant, don’t go here.

Great restaurant and a great new years eve!

By Sina S |

We have spend new years eve at Mastro's and it was just perfect! The staff is very attentively and made this evening to be one of the best new years evenings ever. As we arrived we were assignes to a table downstairs, which was not our favourit, but just one questions from us and the manager changed us to a table upstairs next to the band and bar - awesome! The steaks are very good, also the Tuna tartar and for sure the wine and champagne. The had a live band and some lovely silver/glitter decoration for that evening. Long story short - we loved it!

You better be hungry

By Dean B |

I made the mistake of going here only half hungry. In fact, I ordered the 6 pz petit filet. The steak was excellent! My problem was the salad and sides. The three of us ordered a wedge salad to split. We should have split it with the next table. This thing was huge and must have had 1/2 of bacon on it! And our mac and cheese! Even with the waiter scooping out a generous portion for each of us, there was more than half a dish left! And the dessert! The butter cake in no way resembled a slice - it was a complete cake with a giant scoop if ice cream on it and a whole separate bowl of whipped cream! I implore you - if you're doing here, starve yourself for 3 days beforehand or you will never finish the portions! Along with the amazing piano player and impeccable service, this place is a five star restaurant!!

Upscale Steak House

By intmed11 |

Food was good and service was friendly and efficient. Outstanding live music but a little loud. Steak was tender but not especially flavorful. Scallops were great. Swordfish was bland. Baked potatoes were excellent.

New York's best steakhouse

By theatregirl2015 |

Great Food, wonderful atmosphere, superb service! Our first time there..... Recommended by the concierge at the Baccarat, it was walking distance from pretty much anywhere in Midtown. Very romantic....we sat downstairs, I would have preferred the upstairs dining room, but this was a last minute reservation, so understandably it wasn't their best table. . The Butter Cake for dessert was to die for!! The lobster tail was the best I've ever had in a steak house!! I would say the whole experience was excellent!!

Amazing food but huge portions

By Holidaysandfood |

This is a lovely restaurant, request a table upstairs as it has all the atmosphere. We went on a Sunday night and they had amazing singer and piano player in there. A man and lady and they were both fab! The food here was so good, amazing steaks and sides but the portions were huge. We shared a steak and 3 sides between 2 of us and couldn’t even make a dent. There is a nice bar area for after dinner where we sat and enjoyed the music. Large wine menu and cocktails too. Lovely atmosphere and would definately go back.

Steak, seafood and dessert

By bladesofgrass |

A company dinner in the downstairs backroom, which was definitely quieter than the main restaurant. The fixed menu started with a seafood tower appetizer. Dining companions agreed the shrimp, lobster and king crab legs were excellent; oysters only fair. The salads were of moderate size, lettuce and other ingredients were fresh, with flavorful dressing. The main courses at the table were a filet Mignon, New York strip, lamb chops, and a beef tenderloin. All were cooked as requested, and were all tasty. The desserts served on a single large platter included a butter cake (average), a chocolate tort (decent), an apple crumble (okay) and some cheese cake (good). Beverages included diner's choice of cocktails, several beers, wines, etc. all of which were acceptable, but not outstanding. The service was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, an excellent dining experience.

So disappointed!!!

By danielw87hy |

The food is always amazing. We often come with our very good friends who love your restaurant. I must say we had the worst service with Thomas who could care less whether we were enjoying or not. I had to ask 3 times for a wine list which shows he could not even care. It is a shame as we love the food the energy and the night was a complete disappointment. I had a friend / colleague from Europe that we were entertaining and thought I selected a nice Venue. I made a mistake coming here. Should have gone with Ocean Prime or even Capital Grille would have been an upgrade. Remember, your staff is a reflection of your establishment and shocked to see that this level of service exists here. Once again, Food incredible and energy beautiful, our server destroyed it. You get poor because your staff can make it or break it! I will leave it there.

Salt, Salt, Salt. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MASTRO'S

By builderofall |

I have been to Mastro's 5 times in the pass years. Every time with 10 - 12 person party. The first time they had just opened, food was good, expensive. the last time i was there the food was a bit too salty, and I told them so and was give some excuse, There should be No Excuses. So this time knowing that they are salt heavy I asked for there Not to be any salt added. WHAT! it came out even More salty. I told my waiter that again the food was over salted, the waiters said" I'm Sorry" and continued to remove the plates. This 5th time will be my last time . I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MASTRO'S

Amazing meal and cocktails

By Aimee H |

Food was amazing! Be prepared to spend a good amount! Sides are really big so you can share. Carlos at the bar was really nice and made us excellent cocktails all night

Very Good Meal

By NYMike929 |

My girlfriend and I are here on 3/9/19. For appetizers, we had raw oysters and the bacon slice( that’s not listed on the menu so you have to ask for it). Both were delicious. For our main course she had the petite filet mignon and I had the porterhouse. Both were cooked perfectly. My porterhouse was loaded with flavor. For sides we had Gorgonzola mac and cheese and cream spinach...both very good. This place is pricey, as one would expect. Although we were stuffed, we somehow managed to share Key Lime pie for desert. Again, very good. We decided to eat at the bar as there was a college basketball game we wanted to see. The service was unbelievably good, as the bartenders were quite attentive. My only complaint was the music. They had what seemed to be a DJ as well as someone singing. A little too loud for our taste. All in all, a very good dining experience and I would definitely go back.

A steakhouse that stands out

By Deltraveller2013 |

There is no shortage of high quality steakhouses in midtown Manhattan, but Mastro's is perhaps a cut above. It is stylish, and has great ambience. The food is of course done to perfection, and it was so wonderful to be looked after by Rachel, who was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. A great evening and meal. Mastro's will be a must visit on every trip to New York.

Steak experience

By 15harris |

The steak at this place was wonderful, best I have had in USA. However the lighting is way too dark, you need a flash light to read the menu. Such a shame although I have noticed most places in NY appear to be dark, the hotels and restaurants, whats up with you all put on some lighting lol

Mastro’s Steakhouse - New York City

By Coco |

I am very glad that I chose this restaurant for my family’s Christmas Day dinner as it was not what I expected at all due to past reviews. We entered the very loud first floor of the restaurant, but were then escorted downstairs to a calmer environment and our table for four. Our waiter, George, was incredibly friendly and guided us through the menu whilst providing his recommendations. The food was indescribably good. I had the Clear Lobster Roll and the Maguro Lime Roll, and both were flavourful, authentic, and left me wanting another serve (especially the Clear Lobster Roll)! Unfortunately, I have to mention the negatives. My companions ordered cocktails and wine at the beginning of our visit, and the cocktails were brought to our table at what I estimate to be 25 minutes after we had ordered them, and the wine was brought to our table as we were eating our dinner. If the slow service at the beginning had not have taken place, Mastro’s NYC would have earned a 5/5 from me! Despite the negative, if in New York, give this place a try!

Great steak but spotty service

By ElExigente |

Mastro's NYC was highly recommended to me and the food did not disappoint, It's nice to find a restaurant that does steak and sushi well and kept everyone in our party happy. My rib eye was excellent at the perfect temperature and seasoning and others in our party had the Porterhouse for two, bone in filet and sushi tuna which everyone pleased everyone. The warm buttercake as a desert to share was outstanding Now for the negative. For an upscale NYC steakhouse the service was spotty at best. The waitress saw our party of five, dropped of two menus and then disappeared, when she returned she was rushed and brief on descriptions of cocktails and menu items. What was described as a Skinny Margarita tasted like Pepper juice and gin and was undrinkable, which for me is quite a feat. The food items where haphazardly brought to the table. We had a nice window table but the restaurant is loud enough that you could barely hear your dining companions or what the server was saying. On top of this, the restaurant had live music adding to the noise level. If I go back I would try to go when the noise level was less and the server more attentive.

Bad Service & Bad Dress Code

By donald g |

I have been at Mastro's over a dozen times and even hosted several parties there. The night before I was there, and the Vice President of my company had dinner there and told me the service was horrible... I didnt think much of it but when I went there Sunday 2-4-2024 not only did we have 6:30 reservations and still waited an hour until finally 7:37 walking out but the staff acted like it was no big deal that we were waiting or leaving.... Also, we were dressed per the dress code and half the place looked like it was gang night out in NYC.... No way ever giving them business again!!!!!

Business dinner

By SansaTikka |

Business dinner with 14 colleagues. Very smart and cozy place in Midtown. Exelent service. I had prawn cocktail as starter. Prawns were super fresh and tasty. Then Ribeye steak. The biggest I ever had. So tasty and well prepared. Nor a cheap restaurant, but worth to spend an evening there

Don't bother

By CatherineMcB |

Had dinner at this Mastro's location on October 25/19. Food was good, atmosphere terrible! Extremely loud to start with, factor in a live band and 4 TVs with different sporting events on each one and it was unbearable. Impossible to have a conversation here, so much so that we ate dinner as fast as possible and went elsewhere for dessert and drinks. We've been to other Mastro's and had much better experiences. Definitely had more of an Outback Steakhouse vibe about it.

Best gin martini ... ever!

By hereandthereandthere |

We were blown away by the service, the scallops, beautiful live music, and a gin martini we will never forget. An exceptional experience.

Mastro's Midtown location a total disappointment

By chadharlan18 |

We went to Mastro's as a family to celebrate my wife's birthday while visiting NYC around Christmastime. We were seated in the main dining room. Service was not attentive from the start. When I asked server for assistance in choosing a bottle of moderately priced Burgundy, the server pretended to have expertise in this area, then randomly recommended two bottles (but was clearly unsure of himself) only to finally admit that the wine director was on vacation and that he didn't really know what he was talking about. There was Christmas music playing over the speakers which was fine but then the live piano player/singer started performing with background drums/bass and it was deafening throughout the restaurant. I could not hear the person next to me. The server even said he could "not hear himself think". I complained to the server and the hostesses and nothing happened until the 3rd set when they finally turned this guy down. Which at this point was 2 hours after we had been seated. Management seemed totally clueless as to how disruptive it was to the overall experience. Food was fine but served in a poor cadence - apps came out in 2 minutes, and then waited an hour for mains. Total waste of money in my opinion. Would never go back.

Fantastic experience

By destined2travel |

We went to Mastro's after seeing the Rockettes and to celebrate my birthday. We did not wait at all we were taken right to our table. Our waiter Bryce was fantastic. He was charming, knowledgeable about the menu, and very attentive. The appetizers were great, as were all of our meals. We didn't feel rushed (as so many restaurants do). I would highly recommend Mastro's. The prices coincide with NY restaurant prices. It has now become one of my favorite restaurants. Thank you, Bryce, for an excellent dining experience. We will be back.

Great food and ambiance

Dropped in here late for a "snack" and were surprised they sat us down at a restaurant table, rather than the bar area. The menu was very attractive, and while we were not that hungry, we ordered the seafood platter (comes with smoking bowl of dry ice) with oysters, srip, crab, and lobster. We shared some other dishes. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was also busy at this time. The men's room was downstairs and I was surprised to see how large the restaurant was, many tables and areas. We were lucky to find such a fine restaurant with great service and food!

What a steak!👍

By HC Stockholm Christensen |

A magnificent meal in nice surroundings. Remembee to bring a jacket and a touch. The aircon is working very we'll, and they have turned down the light so much, that even waiters are carrying torches... But the food! Flabbergasting! Avoid the French fries and jump directly to the garlic mash. Enjoy.

Horrible service from the host

By Safari64891892821 |

Horrible 😣 service I reserve on the app an they still call me to confirm my reservation didn’t tell me anything about the dress code I even came in early in person to drop a gift for when we arrive to give it to the birthday person an still didn’t advice me of the dress code we drive a hour to come eat here an still told the host is his birthday we drive a whole hour here an the host Still dismissed us… mad disrespectful.. specially from the host an we still ask to speak to a supervisor manager an she actually ask us concerning what an that they are too busy to speak to us

Awful experience Greg.

By Michael B |

We have been to Mastro’s many times in Newport Beach and a couple of times in New York. Today we have had Christmas Day in the New York restaurant and to be frank the service was dreadful. Greg the manager thought it was OK to circle the table to get us to move (despite continuing to clock up over $3200) and when questioned he admitted he wanted rid of us and to make things worse he defended his waiters secretly taking 3/4 of a bottle of champagne and 1/3 of Paul Hobbs Chardonnay away to push us off the table. When questioned they brought it back straight away (the staff knew exactly when asked). Greg said he didn’t have anything to apologise for, wanted the table back and just walked off without any further discussion. I have spent so long positively talking about this brand and now I find a culture which is so very bad. They have lost such a loyal customer and there is no doubt t it will not matter. Sad!!!!!

Delightful surprise

By Katkev23 |

Loved the restaurant. Service was welcoming and not overly attentive. The lobster roll was delicious. Portions were shareable. Steaks were cooked perfectly. We took goody bags home and everything was delicious the next day too. An added surprise was the live music which we throughly enjoyed.

Disappointing

By AuntieMRA |

Went during the winter holidays with a large family group. They put us near the door. It was soooo dark no one could read the menu. It was so loud my voice was hoarse when I got home. Service was surprisingly sparse. Waitress got our order wrong. She recommended too many sides that were very expensive. They did not get eaten. Meat was good but every other aspect was disappointing. Will not go back.

Best steak in New York

By alexandru91 |

Staff: very friendly and helpful. Food: they can make from nothing a masterpiece. I ate steak, it’s my number 1 ever!!!

Fantastic food!

By JessicaE07 |

My husband and I had the bone in filet, lobster mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, and ceasar salad. All incredibly good, except the salad. Too expensive for such a plain, dry salad. Would go back though!

Delicious food, good atmosphere and friendly staff

By Natali |

Delicious food, friendly staff, good atmosphere. This place is good for business dinners as well. The experience was really good

Dissappointing

By Andreea A |

My husband and my parents visited for Christmas dinner. I will start off by saying I went to the location in Scottsdale and the food and service was unreal. When we planned to come to New York for Christmas I raved about the experience I had at the Scottsdale location so we decided to come for our Christmas dinner. Big mistake!!!!! The server we had was a bar server not a steakhouse server. My husband and I ordered espresso martinis. when they were poured into our glasses the server poured them too quickly and spilled the drinks on the table and on my husbands hands. We also ordered a bottle of Moët and our champagne flutes were over poured and champagne spilled on the table. No menu knowledge!!! We ordered two carpaccio but it would have been nice if our server suggested we order only one as the portion was huge and four of us could have easily shared one order. The carpaccio was good and we also ordered the foie gras which was tasty as well. My dad had the ribeye which he enjoyed and my husband and I had the filet which was extremely salty. Crab gnocchi was soggy and bland. Our table maintenance was just ok. My moms drink never arrived. For being a high end steakhouse, the food quality and service does not meet expectations. It was extremely disappointing since it was our Christmas dinner. Our server was nice but she should be serving at a bar not a steakhouse. Needless to say but when we return to New York we will not come back. There are a thousand other amazing places in New York!

Hands Down, the Best Restaurant in Houston

By DDDSSS123 |

Mastro’s is absolutely fabulous. The food is amazing, especially the streaks. The wine list binder is as big as a novel it has so many pages. The butter cake was out of this world! Make sure you have reservations because the restaurant and bar are extremely popular and in high demand.

Poor Service

By Niall030598 |

I visited this place after reading such good reviews. I can honestly say the service I received was dreadful. Myself and husband visited this restaurant before we went to the theatre. Firstly they tried to sit us next to the kitchen. Which we refused. The lighting is terrible to the point I had to pull out my phone to view the menu it was that dark in the place. Waiter were more interested in moving chairs and cutlery by centimetres rather than being attentive to the customers. We waited nearly 35 minutes for our starters. We both ordered the onion soup and it was covered in thick cheese. We were not advised this prio to orderding. At this point we were still waiting for our drinks to arrive. Which I had to ask the waiter where were they? He gave us some flippant answer. Then we explained we had a theatre to go too so we needed to be out of the restaurant by a certain time. I to,d the waiter I couldn’t eat the onion soup as I had a allergy to cheese and he replied ‘Too Bad’. I believe he was too interested in the bigger tables maybe because of the tip he would get. Needless to say we didn’t order a dessert. We just couldn’t wait to get out of the place. In my opinion this place is overcharged and the ambience is not something that is inviting. The best service we received was the lady in the restrooms. She was very polite and courteous. This is a restaurant that I won’t bevisting again.

Love this place!

By Joseph L |

Great steaks & Great atmosphere. This place has it all. Service was phenomenal and they didn't rush us at all. It was my wife and I and we can't wait to come back. I had the Tomahawk Steak and it was awesome. For dessert don't pass up the butter cake!

Good but not great...

By Jorge M |

Booked this place through a Concierge Service as it was highly recommended. We went for an after broadway show dinner. Place was not packed and they gave us a table right away near the entrance. Ambience is good but not great for families with kids. Service was very good and our waiter was formal yet friendly and warm. We had Steaks Filet and Ribeye. Meat was cooked to perfection and good flavour. I know is NY but $70 for a 12 oz steak - not a good value for money proposition. I think there are a lot of other better value and similar quality options in NY. Wife ordered French onion soup - too salty and a Ceasar Salad which was average. Sides were good recommend mashed potatoes with lobster. Overall - Nice food but not good quality/price balance. My son forgot his power bank and went looking for it the next day, The lady in the front did a quick check and dismissively told us that it wasnt there. It seemed almost that she did not believe my son was telling the truth. Disappointing. Would not return.

Never disappoints

Never had a bad meal. Love Mastros anywhere we go. Place is lively. Service is great. Food is always consistently good. No complaints.

Nice steakhouse in 6th Avenue

By Sergio GR |

Very nice spot for a steak or lobster tail in a convenient atmosphere, mixing casual with fancy style. Semi dark room, low sound at live adequate music and a beautiful bar. The food and attendance were close to perfect! Should try!

Disappointing

By marshallsmom |

We arrived on time for our reservation- we were told the table was not ready and headed to the bar where there was no place to stand without being in the way of waiters coming through with hot food constantly-odd set up. When seated downstairs, there were many empty tables so not sure why we had to wait in the over crowded bar. We were given the menu- no descriptions of the steaks etc. from our highly disinterested waiter. The appetizers were delicious; tuna, scallops and burrata cheese-all well done. The A-5 steaks were good- but not great. The sea bass was terrible-tasted really fishy and everything was absolutely overloaded with salt.

Mastros delivers again

By Bob N |

Top notch service and food at the Mastros in Palm Desert Ca. Bone Marrow is incredible. Our server was knowledgeable and very efficient. We started in bar with an incredible martini.

Great steak house

By Michael Y |

If you are looking for a steak house in midtown Manhattan then you found the right place. Few blocks away from Times Square, Broadway district, radio city and Carnegie Hall you are in the middle of it all. From the minute we walk in we felt welcomed. The seatings is great upstairs or downstairs. The food is cooked to perfection regardless what meat cut you like you will love it. I ordered the bone in ribeye 22 oz. it was delicious at first I thought it wouldn’t be enough for me but it was more than enough. Joe our host was on point and did a great job. Make sure you make a reservation, we went on a Monday and the place was full. I will definitely go back again very soon.

Best steak in New York

By Amir |

This steakhouse was the best place I’ve visited in the entire state of New York. The food was perfect and I couldn’t get enough.

Mastros did not disappoint!

By sdaj1993 |

We have been to several Mastros locations over the years and have always had a great meal. This time we were in NYC celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Food was fabulous. My husband had the bone in filet and I had the sea bass. Everything, including the sides of Brussel sprouts, garlic mashed and Mac and cheese were delicious! Yup, way too much food! Also started with mussels on the half shell. The only reason I did not give 5 stqrs is the waiter could have been more attentive which I have seen as a regular complaint at this location.

Perfect for cocktails and appetizers

By Apicozzi |

Visited Mastro's twice in the past week, both times for cocktails and appetizers. Cocktails were great. Thoroughly enjoyed the Seared Tuna appetizer. Pork Belly "Bacon" appetizer was too fatty to be enjoyed. Atmosphere is great, with low lighting and live music. My one complaint is that the restrooms have "attendants" who expect tips - I don't expect that in a restaurant like this.

What a steak! Rainy and cold

By Yon S |

What a steak! Rainy and cold evening just cross the street after a frustrated tentative to antecipate a reservation at Ocean Prime. The 16oz NY Strip medium little well came absolutely as ordered with a beautiful pink color inside and juice. Service quick and polite. Music could be little lower but did not take the bright of the night. Well done!

Horrible customer service for paying top dollar

By jessica w |

I went to the steakhouse on Sunday for Dinner. I heard good things so I was looking forward to going. When I ordered my $61 veal chop I asked for no salt. I was told that the rub was pre packaged and the only spice I could get was pepper. Since I went with other people I was forced to stay and have a horrible pepper steak. No manager was around during our visit. When I called elena who I was told was the manager I asked was it true if you order a low sodium steak she said yes just pepper. When I asked her about garlic she started to school me that Garlic was a vegetable not a spice . I asked if they could have added anyway and she simple said "no". Honestly for a 4 star restaurant I think they should have ATTEMPTED to make some accommodation. You can get the same steak at 30 restaurants in the city for cheaper. I, my Wife, our friends, and my daughters and their friends will share this lack of empathy on all forms of social media

Top flight business meal

By sss0712 |

Returned to Mastros bringing a client in for his first meal there. We were given great service with consideration to our business purpose. Food was top flight and showed our client that we believed they should have the best.

Experience 5 Stars

By Flss Wie |

The service, food and atmosphere earned a perfect 5 star rating. The complimentary bread basket was delicious. In addition, lobster bisque, lamb chops and mashed potatoes were perfectly prepared.

Fabulous Christmas Day meal!

By LizzieS606 |

We went on Christmas Day and had an amazing time. We were seated downstairs which we were pleased about as it was a little quieter. Our waitress was really nice and explained the menu well. The food was delicious, my husband and daughter said the steaks were to die for. My other daughter loved the lamb and my salmon was beautifully cooked. Lovely champagne, wine and deserts. Would definitely recommend for a special dinner

Planners In The City

By Rea O |

We decided to end our final night in NYC with a wonderful steak dinner. What better place to do it at. The extra dirty martini with Belvedere was smooth. Rockefeller Oysters I could have had more. Lobster Tail, 8 oz Bone-In, Gouda Mac-N-Cheese, Asparagus, Garlic Mash, and Sauté Mushroom n Onions.

If you are steak fan - avoid this venue.

By turist_from_NYC |

We visited on Friday night. Surprisingly it was not completely full. Waiter wasn't paying attention (on couple occasions he just walked away). From the appetizer: Tuna was good. Beacon was very salty and charcoal. The biggest disappointment was steak. My friends complained about overcooked meat. Mine porterhouse was undercooked. However, meat wasn't a good quality (hard to chew). Therefore, it is not a place to have a good steak. For sides: I would recommend mushrooms. For $330 per couple - you can definitely find better steaks in NYC.

Amazing meal to end our trip

By Marieismeca |

We picked this restaurant after reading online reviews, and because it was close to our hotel, we were not disappointed. We were shown right to our table, and the service was wonderful from beginning to end. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever had. I am not the biggest red meat fan, but the waiter was able to recommend a steak that could be cooked well-done, and not ruined, and it was cooked perfectly (for me), and not at all dry. The lobster macaroni & cheese side dish was full of hugh chunks of lobster, and could easily have been a meal for 1 or 2 people. The asparagus was crisp & delicious. The butter cake the table next to us had looked & smelled amazing, but we were too full to even think about dessert. We will have to save that for next time.

Small portion

By Yenij22 |

Went here with my husband. The ambience is great. Life music. The food was presented very well however i dont think it was worth the price. The food portion is small.

Awesome Dinner with my dear Friend

By Chilli-Bite |

Had an awesome dinner with my friend at this resturant on my recent visit to NYC. Waiters Sebastian and Bryce were amazing. Look out for them. They attended to us as though we were the merchants of Venice. The starters were to die for and the mains mouth-watering. Had Sea-bass while my friend had tel he Ribeye Steak. We left the plate clean. The service was impeccable and the whole experience heavenly. You must try this resturant when U visit NYC. It’s one place that will make your stay in NYC memorable. The best steak resturant in NYC by far. Will be coming back again and again. Try it out! You won’t regret it.

Drinks & Appetizers At The Bar

By Patty B |

This place is wonderful. We had a late lunch and decided to just get appetizers and drinks. We had walked by Mastro's and it looked good so we gave it a try. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great. So professional and courteous. They made a delicious chocolate martini that was so large, like have 2. We shared a shrimp cocktail, presented with the dry ice billowing from the dish. The bread was out of this world. My husband adored the pretzel bread. He keeps talking about it so I know we will be back next time for dinner. They also had live music another nice touch.

Christmas Day lunch

By Graham S |

5 star. Would give 6 stars if we could. Absolutely amazing. Surprised if this can be beaten anywhere, not just in NYC. Expensive but worth every penny/cent. Service and food exceptional

Dinner with my son and his administraative director.

By O1471YScharlesb |

My son Scott took me to this restaurant which he referred to as " The best Stake house in NY." He was correct. The place was lively to say the least. It as also packed. We had a drink at the bar and were seated immediately after finishing our drink. The waiter Paulo was fantastic. .For an appetiser, we share a gigntic lobster mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious. For the main courst we shared a gigantic filet mignoon with the bone in. The plate was so hot that smoke was rising almost to the ceiling. I was so impressed with the Lobster mac and cheese that I duplicated it at my family dinner on Christmas eve. I will return to Mastro's again and again. It is truly the best stake house in NY

ED/DEB 33rd Anniversary @ Mastro's

By Ed N |

A soon as you walk in you know this is going to be good. We started with an Absolut to start a pefect evening. Large & icy. For an appetizer we had the shrimp which came out on a smoking tray. Icy cold & large. For Dinner the menu is very extensive. We chose to split the Wagu Filet & Lobster Mac & Cheese. Great choice. One of the best steaks ever. Our server was always by us, delivering great service. Had a little cake to finish a perfect evening. Oh, upon leaving we discovered that a Power Outage knocked out Power accross the Street and many other NY area's.

Nice food, but awful restrictions. When we arrived, I was told that I cant enter with my hoodie???? Why?

By Äli R |

No hoodie allowed. What? I was not wearing it. No very welcome from the beginning. Otherwise - barmen understood us and was kind, but…

Mastro’s is pricey but fabulous! They do an excellent job. Just make sure you leave room for butter cake!

Perfect Late Meal

By JanaliSydney |

Having seen a Broadway Show we stumbled upon this great steakhouse late Friday night for a great meal, cool ambience with live music and super service. The lobster Mac&Cheese was decadent side dish to our perfectly cooked steaks.

Make sure you visit this restaurant

By Donna B |

This isn’t my first review of this restaurant, but I just have to say — they’re *always* consistent! 🙌 Not just with the delicious food 🍽️ but with their amazing staff too. Greg and Daisy run such a wonderful team. We’ve been coming here long enough to know Daisy’s sister, Gladys, who’s just as kind and now works in management 👏. Daisy is always so welcoming and accommodating — it truly makes every visit feel special 💕. And of course, the food never disappoints — always tasty and satisfying! 😋

Never Again

By Ronald B |

Very disappointed, wanted to celebrate my grandson's birthday. Ordered the tomahawk steak. The steak was excessively fatty, parts you could not eat. I complained to the Matre de and all he said is that he would tell the chef. It was a lot of money for some fat.

Finally got to use Christmas gift certificate

By Ken P |

We've been big fans of Mastro's ever since trying one in Old Town Scottsdale over 10 years ago. With all the high end steakhouses in Manhattan it's always tough to have a favorite but Mastro's has become one of our favorites since opening in Manhattan. The service is always top notch and our server Aaron didn't disappoint this time. The drinks, with the women drinking Cosmos, were delicious as always. For appetizers we ordered both of the tuna options and I have to say the seared tuna was one of the best pieces of tuna I've ever had. Our steaks, Ribeye, Filet Mignon and Chateaubriand, were all cooked to perfection. The sides never disappoint but nothing is better than the dessert, the amazing butter cake.

Good Food, Good Atmosphere for a Couples Night Out

By Russ B |

My wife and I went to Maestro’s for dinner in New York City. This was a night out for the two of us. We had eaten at the Maestro’s in Vegas and wanted to try this one. Making and confirming reservations was easy as we got a table for two. There are two floors, the upstairs is louder and darker. If you want a little quieter dinner, ask them for a table downstairs. They have an extensive drink menu and use dry ice in some of their drinks to give the dry ice effect. Good options for beers also. We had a waiter Sean who spent time going through the menu, the options and what would be enough or too much. We got the lobster bisque and salad as appetizers and both were excellent. Dinner options included sushi, steak and fish primarily. The food was excellent and don’t be afraid to ask for smaller portions, they will oblige and lower the cost as well. We didn’t have dessert as we were full. I loved it and I’ll go back.

extremely subpar

By LarryD |

$30 shrimp cocktail had a cardboard texture. frozen? artificial? who knows. porkchop was overcooked and dry. ruined in fact. waiter Terrell MIA most of the meal. had to get up to find pepper for my wedge salad. 2 couples with children seated next to us, the kids at their own table, screaming, parents ignoring them. like a kindergarten except IIRC kindergarten teachers ATTEMPT to discipline the kids. two employees outside men's room griping about work using vulgar words within earshot of guests. this restaurant is poorly run, there are such better options in Manhattan.

An unexpected pleasure

By Robert R |

Maestros steakhouse was an unexpected stop while visiting NYC. It turned out to be worth it. While a little on the pricey side the staff and ambience were excellent. The meal was cooked to our liking and was delicious. It was definitely worth the detour.

As good as ever

By Matthew W |

We have been before when we visited NY and this time was just as good. We went twice and each time was fantastic. I don’t think there is a better steak to be had in the city. Love the bar, love the ambience, we will be back for sure

Mortgage Your House To Pay For Dinner

By Linda P |

We knew this was going to be an extravagant meal pre theatre, we were all prepared for that but we were not prepared for a $740.00 bill for 4, not including tip. Okay we didn't skimp on things but come on even for NYC this was outrageous! Guess in the long run we should have paid more attention to what we were ordering instead of going all in! With that said, Mastro's is a very nice restaurant, good vibe with live music which enhanced your dining experience. I think what put us over the top price wise is the seafood tower, amazing presentation and all seafood was excellent. You basically design your own, well on ours was shrimp, lobster, crab legs, and oysters, overflowing with all. Coming out with the dry ice and servers with mini flashlights shining on it is quite the show! Presentation A+. Everyone loved it, if you order just be aware of how much you are spending as you add to it. Ours alone was $190.00! The steaks are pricey, probably standard for NYC. They were melt in your mouth, cooked to perfection. The lone salmon dish was a problem. My girlfriend said it was undercooked so we sent it back, they brought it back and it basically became inedible, felt sorry her meal was a total bust. She said it was the worst salmon she's ever had! The sides were good, mashed potatoes and creamed corn. A very good meal except the salmon dish but probably wouldn't go back because of the price point, unless we were very conscious of what we were ordering. Also, on another note at one point during our meal the lighting was turned down, way too dark for a restaurant. People had to use flashlights on their phones to read the menu and who wants to eat in the dark?

1 day in NYC

Great service

By darren h |

Landed in nyc on 22nd December for the Christmas. We all wanted a nice steak and a drink! We was pointed to mastro’s by the doorman at our hotel. We wasn’t disappointed. Steaks ran in $60 each, obviously more expensive ones. But ours tasted amazing. When ordering side, please please share! They are massive portions. We sat at the bar as it was very busy, and what a great choice to as our bartender jimmy was amazing! Thanks jimmy you made it a very special, enjoyable dinner. Staff are very friendly and a clean restaurant. I recommend the lobster mash potato as a side. Once again, jimmy thanks you. You bosses should keep you sir.

Delicious

By Sara E |

We really enjoyed the food; everything we ordered was delicious. Oh, and the butter cake... excellent. Service good too, Aaron was very helpful and really nice. The only thing with this place is that it's so noisy. But I notice it's not a problem for lots of other people...

Dinner with Friends

Mastro's never fails to deliver , the food was perfect, the experience as always delightful, wee ordered the filet for two and was cooked to perfection, medium rare with a heavy char, the side dishes were varied and plentiful due to the size of our party, greta evening
