Wonderful

By DrewGeneva |

On Wednesday the 25th of May 2022, I hosted a dinner for 12 people here. Everyone who attended raved about the food. We had a set menu from which my guests could have the choice of 4 starters, 5 main courses and 4 desserts. The variety was much appreciated by everyone. Everyone commented on how good the food was. Most of my guests were from NYC but none had been to Match 65 before. They all stated they would come back. The wine list was excellent and well balanced. Without a doubt I will be returning the next time I am in NYC. Working wiht the staff to arrange the event was great. they were responsive and attentive while we were there. Definitely worth checking out!

Not wowed but the experience and food was okay

By Scott H |

In my opinion the food was above average for French restaurants. I had trout amandine, and my guest had a salad with tuna sashimi. The presentation was very very good. The fish was rather Bland, that is to say it wasn't spiced up to my taste. The plate was served on the warm side, and I would have liked it a little hotter. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and my friend like her salad. I'm not a salad person so I'll have to go by what she said. The service was average. Not overly friendly, and support staff was rather friendly. We are outside, and with some people watching, but not like the cafes the Mediterranean. The only aspect I didn't like and I understand why business is business is a fact that the minute you placed your order they turned this object on the table that said 1 1/2 hours. Next time I'm in New York City I'll try other French restaurants.

Upper east side gem

By Chris M |

We had dinner at the brasserie on the 26th April. Upon arriving, we were very warmly greeted by the restaurant staff, and were immediately struck by the authenticity and ambience of this cracking French bistro. We were there to celebrate my partners birthday, and the quality of the food, wine menu, and service we received was excellent. We will certainly be back, and would highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor to New York. Thanks again for making us feel so welcome.

Wonderful brunch!

By CTgirl77 |

We ate brunch at Match 65 after visiting the Frick. We loved our experience! I had the eggs Norwegian and my husband had the avocado toast with smoked salmon. Both were delicious, especially with their Sancerre!

Delicious French Bistro Food

By David F |

French bistro food is the kind of food that you will find in most bars around Paris. The menu is usually not very long, but it’s filling and delicious. This describes Match 65 exactly. Their menu has a well selected variety of dishes on one side, which includes their daily specials, with an equally well selected wine and beer list in the other side. Tables are tiny and covered with paper which adds to the ambience. Service is professional and prompt. I will definitely be back, suggest you try it too.

Not to be missed

By Elisa L |

Perfect both for an informal occasion with friends and for a business meeting. Excellent food and service

Damn!

By Hockeylover59 |

Damn this place is good! From The Amazing fogra appetizer and the perfect escargot right to the very end, there was nothing they did that was less than authentic and delicious. The sea bass special accompanied by a brussel sprouts and Chestnut and bacon was off the chart delicious. But I think my light and Airy mushroom ravioli was the best of all. And we topped it off with an amazing apple tart with hazelnut ice cream! This place is a keeper! And Carole our server couldn't have been better. We will certainly be back

4 star

By deecastro2017 |

French bistro with decent food. 4 star because of the service and the ambience. The Irish waitress so Lovely, made us feel very welcome. Excellent crab cake and foiegras. Perfect pit stop from.the hustle of Madison avenue.

Delicious!

Excellent restaurant! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely visit this restaurant again on my next visit to NYC!

Classic brasserie in midtown Manhattan

By Barbara K |

Need a nice place for a business dinner meeting nearby, so Match 65 Brasserie hit the spot. It is a cosy French brasserie, with outdoor seating in nice weather, rather compact inside, so cheek to jowl seating, but, since we arrived at 5:30, it was quiet enough for a conversation. I ordered mussels and frites. The frites were perfect, the mussels ample but, as mussels go, they were tiny and dry, not succulent, as they should be. I did see a table of robust men at the next table devouring what looked to be a nice steak, so that might have been a better choice. My companions went for salads, so to give this restaurant a proper rating, I would need to explore the menu in greater depth. I would be willing to give it another try.

Total disaster

By Juan Pablo T |

The food I must say was excellent. The policy of the rest is terrible. We sat down for dinner at 8:30 p.m. with a prior reservation and before the first course arrived they asked us if we wanted dessert because the kitchen was about to close. Then we finished dinner and couldn't have coffee because the machine was already turned off. Total madness. Paying a bill with two long zeros to receive poor service is not for me. Everything good that comes out of the kitchen is ruined by the people who serve it.

One of the best meals in NYC

By 10C_R_M |

We were in NYC for a week and this was our favorite meal. We started with some truffle parm fries and then we had the mushroom ravioli, salmon and crème brulee. Everything was amazing! I would go back again for sure.

Service was excellent. Food was mixed.

By Jeffrey P |

Great service. Buffalo Mozzarella, French Onion soup and Skirt Steak were top notch. Chicken Paillarde and Steak and Eggs were OK but not great.

Good bistro fare at a reasonable price

By Revlucky |

My wife and I dined here for the second time in as many years. We went during a slow time of day, which suited us because the tables are close and without a huge crowd, the place is reasonably quiet. We got the impression that this establishment is largely frequented by locals. This is a French-style bistro. There is a full bar and daily specials in addition to a dinner selection of approximately 12 main dinner items, in addition to appetizers, salads, etc. I enjoyed the trout almondine, which was perfectly prepared, and also tried their french fries, which were excellent. My wife had the chicken paillard, which is a grilled chicken breast with a large salad on top. She reported that it was good and cleanly prepared. No fancy sauces. We shared a tart tartine, which was tasty but on the small side, particularly for sharing. If you want a good meal in a cute setting without paying the equivalent of a mortgage payment, we can certainly recommend Match 65.

Great Place with a great staff !

Great spot with a wonderful staff. Always welcoming and kind. The are great at their jobs. The food is spot on as is the atmosphere .

This is a lovely place to eat, quality food, well prepared excellent service reasonable price for NYC I would recommend this establishment

Simple food, terrible service

By L K |

It is a nice restaurant, the food is quite simple. The worst is the service: italian lady Ana is just the incarnation of rudeness. I am wondered if this is the concept of the place...

Wonderful visit to a Parisian bistro....in Manhattan!

By teeare |

We made a reservation for for dinner based on reviews we had read on Trip Advisor and elsewhere, all of which touted its authentic charms and ambiance. They were all correct and we felt as if we'd stepped in off 65th street to a neighborhood bistro in Paris. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly and enjoyed attentive and friendly service. Tables are close together (I told you it was authentic) and we ended up having a great conversation with some neighborhood regulars at the next table.

Average - inconsistent

By DavidWashingtonDC |

Cramped and often noisy - standard bistro fare - some offerings are well below average and to add insult to injury at a price point that really good restaurants charge. Wine offerings are not much better value. The daily special was not bad but still overpriced. You can do way better nearby

Food was excellent, service was a little slow

By Nardiesally |

This place makes you feel like you are in Paris. Lots of locals which is always a good sign Lot of take out too. Tables are really close together. I didn't find anyone who spoke friend, but that didn't take away from the food. Well worth a visit. Was a warm break on a very cold day.

Lovely Bistro with excellent food and service

By flabrit |

We ate hear prior to attending a play at the Park Avenue Armoury, which is just around the corner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in the manner of a Paris brasserie. In the same way, the tables are close to each other and quite a loud ”buzz” develops once the restaurant is full. The hostess and waiters could not have been more friendly or attentive. All of the food was excellent. I especially recommend the escargots and steak frites. The crepes Suzette is also very good. We will definitely come back here.

Lunch with a flare

By thomas p |

Elegant clientele Very nice pace of service A total win even with tight tables and a smallish place arrived @ 12:15 and done by 1:30. Very broad menu

Crowded and Pricey, but Delicious and Worth It

By Steven B |

We had a great meal at Match 65 -- great appetizers, excellent bronzino and Salad Nicoise, and a wonderful bottle of Gigondas. The waiter and chef managed our requests for adjustments on the dishes without a hitch, and it was all delicious. (It was a little pricey, but we expected that.) The only thing I might change -- and I would -- is that the tables are super crowded close together. Granted, that felt very "French bistro," so maybe it goes with the territory. But it did mean I had to work hard to focus on my conversation and tune out the conversations that were going on two feet away on either side. But we managed, and we had a great time.

Good food, very slow service

By theoneandonlyArnold |

Was there recently again, this time for an early lunch with my son. Restaurant is very nice, and it was almost empty. We ordered quickly with starters arriving in reasonable times. Main course took at least 40min from the order and we saw one table (arriving after us) being served before us. The waiter saw our surprised looks and told us …your food is coming now …. But it still took a bit. No apology… In summary, really nice place, pretty good food - but very slow service, despite half empty. Wonder how they do if the place is full.

a french style lunch in manhattan

very average french style, but having lived in paris for 25 years .....in addition very very tight tables , not very confortable. it has changed hands , i understand a few times, do not need to go back

French Onion Soup - French Friends Would Approve

By Blondie |

Match was booked solid on the night before Easter. Friend and I stopped to see if we could have a glass of wine and soup after our Frick visit. Staff is terrific, and they seated us outside. Soup was great. Thank you. Such a nice late afternoon in New York City!

Best authentic French bistro

By polci |

Beautiful location. Authentic French food. Awesome service. And also great people watching. We loved everything about this restaurant and would definitely recommend it.

They made an order for my aunt that was not on the menu! Hard to beat that.

By Dede A |

We had a lunch reservation for my brother, aunt and I. It was a trip for two us from L.I. We reserved close parking and reserved for lunch. The service was great and even checked the lost and found box for a vest my SIL thought she left there. They were so nice to really look. I ordered the octopus and it was great. My brother ordered a salad that they were able to take off and item. He devoured it. My aunt was able to get an omelette which she chose with mushrooms. She ate it all. It came with fries that were perfect.

Excelent European food

By adam_petr |

We were there for a lunch and it was terrific. Great salads, tasty octopus and realy nice soup, all mixed with original French wine. Perfect combination. Service was also on the best-quality-level. Simply excelent.

AUTHENTIC FRENCH!!

By Jimlockard |

We were on the last day of a 3 week trip to the US and Canada before returning home to Lyon, France, where we are expats, and we needed some French food! Since we were going to visit the Frick Collection on our last day, we looked for French restaurants on the Upper East Side and found this gem. It feels more like Paris than Lyon (probably no accident), and we had a meal reminiscent of being at home. The atmosphere is welcoming, a bit old fashioned, and very French. The food is French cuisine for an American palate - done very well by a skilled kitchen. Of course, the wine list is sufficient as are the selections by the glass. It got very crowded, was very convivial, and a good time was had by all, as far as I could tell. Highly recommend. If you are thinking of moving to France as we have, check my blog at JimLockardOnWine.com

French Bistro in Midtown

By DadMD |

We once ate here regularly but the overall atmosphere changed and the food wasn't great. This meal was excellent, but expensive. The fois gras terine was lovely, as was the lobster plat du jour. But they were more expensive than one would expect. Worth the price, but expensive. The service was excellent. Glad to find out they are back to the quality we loved.

Not what their website promises

By ScoopTraveler |

I studied tripadvisor to find a reasonably priced restaurant near the Frick Collection. Came up with this loser! The website prices are 25% out of date, so we could have chosen a better place for the money. This is bait and switch and ought to be illegal! They also did not have the shrimp salad and other dishes listed in the online menu. Then the wait person tried to tell me that gluten free is just a fad and I should give it up! Really, do I need to deal with this in NYC? What rock has this person been sleeping under? This was so stressful. The service was lousy and I would not go back. The food was just o.k., not what we paid for!

So good I went twice in one week

By David F |

The title of this review says it all, I like this place so much I went for dinner once with my son and a second time with a friend of mine in the same week. As this is my second review of Match 65 Brasserie on trip advisor I won’t repeat myself, but instead would like to add that in addition to delicious, well prepared French bistro dishes they are consistently good over time so I’ve added an additional star(circle) to my review. To me, there are lots of good restaurateurs but for whatever reason, the quality of the food and service varies over time, which for me affects how I rate the place. The best compliment I can offer is that I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

good UES bistro -- really!

By PRSpero |

Side of New York with good service, food, and wine, falls in degree of difficulty somewhere between the search for a Sasquatch and finding the lost chord. One must be careful before saying out loud that you've found Sasquatch, but I think maybe we have. Dishes such as the house pate, a Nicoise salad, crepes au Nutella (no kidding), accompanied by a nice cold Manhattan and a modest Trimbach Alsatian Riesling to split (under $50) -- well done! Okay, sometimes you think thoughts like that after a first visit, but wonder what you were thinking on your second. We shall certainly find out.

Excellent Food / Excellent Service

By GeorgeH-LI_NY-ExPat |

We visited this restaurant in August, sorry for the late review. We started by sharing a wonderful bowl of French Onion Soup, it had a slightly different flavor from many other French Onion Soups, I really liked its unique flavor. I had the Trout Amandine which was cooked perfectly & was delicious. My wife had the Steak Frites which she totally enjoyed, the Steak was perfect. Our shared dessert was very sweet, but very good. Our server Melanie, was excellent & helped us with our selections of both entrees and wine. The owner also came over several times to check on us and to chat about his other restaurant in Charlotte, NC. We look forward to visiting that restaurant in the future and will definitely go back here when in NY on our next trip.

Excellent

By Nedcc |

We came for our last night in NY and we were not disappointed. We had drinks at the bar to start and the bar woman was very attentive and cheerful. The whole place really reminded me of Paris. The food was excellent - steak frites, rack of lamb and chicken - all good as was the fois gras to start. It’s not cheap but frankly this time round I didn’t find eating and drinking in NY cheap at all - the exchange rate is killing us brits. Loved it and would return on my next trip.

Everything deserves a second chance.

By markkX6690EX |

I recently met a client for lunch at Match 65 and found my first experience here somewhat disappointing. Having recently vowed to eat healthy, I ordered the La Salade Poulet Organic, and it may have just been me, but I found very little chicken, and found it to be wanting in flavor. My client seemed to enjoy his salad, and the dessert and service were very good, I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I would like to come back and try it again.

Great French Atmosphere in the middle of Madison NYC

By lacibeles_77 |

Authentic French Neighborhood restaurant. GREAT for Sunday Brunch. Attentive personnel. Location is Supreme. Good food and drinks

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant

By EinKC |

We were in NY in May and went to Match 65 for the first time; we were back in NY in Aug and returned to this charming little place with fabulous French cuisine. Everything is delicious, from the tuna tartare to the salade nicoise to the lamb. We will be back soon!

Brought me back to France!

By Florian H |

Great cozy spot in the middle of the UES... somehow got a feel of my native France! staff was very professional and attentive, great vibe and food was delish! The place was bustling...We order a bunch of apps, Steak tartare, escargot, onion soup followed by the Trout Amandine, steak frites and mussels; all perfectly executed . mWill def come back and recommend .

A wonderful French Bistro

By mimiPrinceton_NJ |

This was a surprise find that we truly enjoyed. The foie gras and the tartare were excellent and the mussels, chicken and steak frites did not disappoint. The service was well above what one would expect from a small bistro such as this. I highly recommend it.

Ambiance and delicious food on my birthday.

By Nicha Paratore |

We love Match 65. My husband and I celebrated my birthday here on January 28th. The Margaux wine was recommended, and it’s excellent. We had tuna tartare, foie gras, rack of lamb, and mussels in a white wine reduction. My dessert was a chocolate cake with a dark molten chocolate center, and my husband had the apple tart. Everything was awesome; and unlike other French restaurants in big cities everywhere, we had American-sized portions. There is one major problem: we won’t be dining here every day! On second thought, maybe we will. Match 65 stands alone & on top. The management and the staff are delightful. Enjoy your meal :-)

Excellent Everything!

By HiLoHa |

Just arrived in town for 4 days and picked this little restaurant based on good reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Even after I messed up the reservation by modifying my original Open table reservation to the wrong day they accommodated us. Very cozy seating but everyone is lost in their own conversations so if you do the same you won't notice how close The service was excellent. Caesar salad was excellent and the Dover sole special was cooked perfectly. The crab cake appetizer is one of the best crab cakes I have ever had. Highly recommended!

As good as last time … If not Better !!

By Cecilia’s High Point Cafe |

Our new favorite NYC restaurant

By SimplytheBestFoodie |

We spent a day visiting art museums and found this authentic French bistro to have lunch. And what a lunch. Excellent food, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. The bill came to $180 for a two course meal before tip. If you’re in the area this is the place to eat. We will return.

French Classics Well Prepared

By Manhattan T |

This place is in the same category as Balthazar and Cafe Luxembourg--standard bistro menu in a French-style brasserie--but I think Match 65 is the best of the three. At $80-100 pp for a two course meal with drinks, the quality of the food should be excellent and Match 65 delivers. Rack of lamb at two different doneness orders arrived correctly, escargots and octopus were delicious and soup and bread were very good. The table for four in the back is the roomiest, others are rather squeezed together. In this part of town, Match 65 is definitely one of the better choices. Recommended!

Nice out of the way bistro

By Barry M |

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. The restaurant is located just off Madison Ave. I had the Steak Frites and my wife had the Healthy Salad. Both entrees were great! My steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were crispy on the outside and tender within. The highlight of our meal was dessert! We shared a creme brulee and it was amazing! The staff is friendly. Service is great. The food was incredible. Highly recommended if you are on the East side.

Cozy with authentic French flavors.

By Borish |

Match 65 Brasserie is a small pearl on the Upper East Side. Perfect atmosphere for a Parisian style lunch or dinner. Friendly service, great wine and really nice outdoor tables. A perfect stop for those who love French cuisine with New York charm.

Good food, Terrible Management/Supervision

By Jose F |

After calling and making a short notice reservation (even though it wasn’t needed as restaurant was empty) for our 11th Anniversary we were seated and everything went normal. Restaurant was pricy but whatever, it was a special occasion. As I go pay my overpriced check of almost $300, (again, this was fine as it was a special occasion) I leave a tip (even though it wasn’t mandatory) but nothing was done special for us, nothing above and beyond, and service was “OK” it wasn’t bad, but it was normal. We did spend almost $100 just in drinks. This dude out of nowhere approaches me and harangues me for leaving such a measly tip ($20 for clarity purpose) immediately starts shouting and calling me out in front of my family and other guests, he then leaves, and comes back to do it again, after I politely told him I understood, he leaves again, to come back a third time to keep hammering this out in everyone’s view. What a disappointing experience to an excellent meal. The food was great (even thought the panna cota was a little runny), the drinks were nice although over priced as well, but the whole evening was left with a massive bad taste. Go for good pricy food, avoid for management.

A warm welcome !

By Gianpiero |

Extremely nice staff, they accomodated me on a very busy evening, signature dish is the tuna tartare, definitely a place to go

Good food, bad wine

By The Etruscan |

I had the trout which was delicious and memorably prepared. I ordered a glass of Bordeaux blanc to accompany this meal, but it was totally uninspiring and insipid. It tasted as if it had been watered down (diluted)! The waiter offered to replace it for me with another wine, so I ordered a Chardonnay which was only slightly better. I am not a wine connoisseur but I know what good wine tastes like and for $17 a glass I was not expecting bad (cheap?) wine!

Rude Arrogant Hostess

By ServiceDog2014 |

This is a quiet neighborhood bistro with decent food and ambiance except a rude hostess ruined our evening. She was unfamiliar with the ADA law with respect to medical service dogs and refused to listen or read the Federal policy on the internet. She kept saying that the health dept would close them down. She was ignorant about the questions she was permitted to ask legally and instead escalated an unnecessary situation by demanding medical documents and asking us to leave. We had already ordered wine and since it was frigid temps, we refused to leave. The dog was a legit service animal and well-behaved. She made discriminatory remarks. Certainly will not return.

The place is very charming,

By Antonio Rafael Almeida |

The place is very charming, there’s a shadow ambiente. The Staff people is very receptive and help you to choose your dish. The food is very good. Its tasty and the flavour inherent a familiar place.they have good wine but in my opinion the restaurant isn’t as cheaper as others visitors had said.I can say is it a good value for money.

Pleasant staff, mediocre food.

By Aristippe77 |

Convenient location, nice staff, ok food. One of the things I look forward to at a French bistro is the bread - a nice crisp baguette that is fluffy inside. We did not get bread until we asked for it, and it was heavy, not a great texture. The crabcake was okay, but used inexpensive crab- all fragments, no lump crabmeat. The moules mariniere was okay, but the broth tasted as though the wine they used was bit old and had already started to sour.

How fortunate to find this little gem...

By Suki G |

I arrived in NYC a week ago and on my first evening I found this little gem of a restaurant just a short walk from my new home. The food and service has been outstanding but the friendliness of the staff is what makes this restaurant such a special place. Sincere thanks to the welcome and generous spirit of Malika and Carole you made me feel at home. I will visit you often and thank you .... Suki x

Sunday brunch

By Joyce T |

I enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch with my 14 year old daughter and her best friend on our way to the Frick Collection. Excellent service, wonderful food, authentic Parisian ambience. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday spring morning in the city!

Wonderful dinning experience

By Isabelle K |

We have been to Match 65 last Friday. We had a wonderful experience from the appetizer to main course and desert all was fresh, tasty.. The atmosphere is warm and the staff is courteous and professional. We have been a party of ten and all was well coordinated. The wine list is impressive and we have been well advised. We enjoyed our evening and will come back I definetely recommend the place

Perfect location for Central Park

By DJMXX |

We really enjoyed the delicious food and outdoor seating. It was quite cold so they were able to accommodate us in the heated outdoor space which made a huge difference (v. the non heated outdoor tables). We had the French onion soup which was fantastic (the cauliflower fennel soup was a bit bland). The grilled octopus and Brussels with lardons and chestnuts were fantastic. Chicken paillard and moules frites were very good. I had a lovely gin cucumber cocktail (not sweet) and the red wine was pleasant. The molten lava cake was very good but the creme brûlée wasn’t the best I’ve had (not served warm). I would go back if in the area but wouldn’t go too far out of the way.

Family spot!

By Sabine L |

Since we are in in NYC, we are celebrating every single achievement at Match 65. This place is the best place for lunch and diner. The menu is sensational and Flavia, the owner, is welcoming you every single time with such a warm "so nice to see you again". The staff is so attentive and conscientious, that you feel so privileged.

I love this place!

By daniela g |

Delicious place, great food, perfect service and great staff! I will definitely stay there again. The owner is very nice and knows how to entertain guests making them feel at home:)

Cute place, ok food, ridiculously expensive

By MattClaire097 |

The title says it all: this place is warm and welcoming, service is friendly and professional, and food is ok, albeit not great, especially if you are familiar with French bistros. For two glasses of (mediocre) wine, two appetizers, a meat dish and a salad, the check (including tip) was 180 $. Would not go back.

Cozy and welcoming

By macorzo2016 |

Located in a small space, coy and welcoming, this 65th East Side Brasserie serves wonderful and tasty French specialties. Service is courteous and the noise level is moderate. A wonderful setting for a nice dinner with friends. The wines are on the expensive side but the house wines are affordable and good. Reservation is a must.

Delicious food

By Lisabarbi |

Very good food and service although a little bit expensive. Good option if you are close to the Central park and are not tight on the budget.

Best place in NY

By Laura F |

Every time that we come to NY this is our place to eat the Tuna Tartar and everything that you want to enjoy 😊

match65 NEVER disappoints

By maurizio bussolari |

i had many lunches and dinners at MATCH65 and each time the experience was perfect! this time was a friday lunch by myself: as the day was gorgeous there were no tables outside so i decided to take a small one right in front of the very cool and intimate bar! while tasting a fantastic tuna tartare and grilled octopus and enjoying a fresh glass of sancerre, i chatted with both the charming owner flavia and very nice manager super cool vibe, warm atmosphere, great quality/price value, very kind and professional staff: i felt like being at a parisian brasserie! i recommend MATCH65 with all my ❤️

Authentic Parisian Bistro in NY

By AsterixTheCat |

The only things about this bistro which were unlike Paris were (1) they speak English (they also speak French), and (2) they are relatively friendly (though still a bit stiff like in a Parisian restaurant). The food was great; my steak was amazingly tasty. The food was delicious; the service was good, and the ambiance was perfect. It's expensive, but it is the same everywhere in this area of Manhattan...

Excellent

By jbr701 |

We stopped in for a late lunch. It was great and will not disappoint!! The service and cozy atmosphere along with the food were excellent. The trout amandine was one of the best we have had. Would surely recommend!

Feels authentic

By Ian G |

You do feel that you have walked into a little bit of Paris when you come to this restaurant. You are greeted by a young lady from Lyon who makes you feel welcome. The menu has good choices and an excellent wine list. The food is well prepared and the staff are charming.

Loved it!

By Bacon1976 |

A cozy restaurant with an authentic French feel, the meal and service were quite good. I started with an Aperol Spritz, tasty, and the house made pate. I liked the kick of peppercorn on the top of the pate--it gave it a nick kick. For my main course I had the trout amandine with haricot verts--it was a lovely portion, just perfect after a generous starter. The trout had excellent flavor and was presented fashionably. Skipped dessert. It was busy while I was there with seating both inside and out. I was seated near the front door which offered a nice breeze at my table. I'd absolutely return.

Take out

By MKC |

The take out method of enjoying this restaurant just doesn’t do it justice. My recent order of Amish chicken salad basically presented me with a ‘moment of silence’ where chicken should have filled the void. Your takeout customers are most often your loyal locals so please remember to deliver us your best.

Loved my dinner

By GLOKRIFIO |

We went yeaterday night and had an amazing experience. The patè was to die for and so was the octopus salad. My son's steak frites was great and I loved my tuna tartare. I highly recommend the mojito. The pace was vibrant and cheeful. Fantastic dinner.

Felt SO MUCH at home

By JoeJack |

I stumbled on Match 65 as I was walking towards Daniel's. It was lunch time...so we went in. Thank the Lord we did. Maria greeted us and took care of us with the rest of the team. The experience was out of this world. I was back in France. The food is creative and prepared to perfection, the staff is fast, effective but mainly extremely kind and attentionate. Everything was on point. Even Tik, the manager is the utmost charming and helpful when you call back to congratulate the team. Really kudos to all from the bar, to the dining room till the kitchen Felicitations

Quaint little Bistro between Madison and park

By Deanna D |

Quaint and upscale French bistro with charming interior and staff. Has a few tables outside so we were able to eat outside. Their bread is amazing and with the Escargots de Bourgogne you need it to soak up all the butter and garlic. The Nicoise Salade was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. The Tuna was cooked to perfection. I have to say the couple next to us was enjoying the Le Spaghetti "CARBO", with Bacon Lardons, Egg Yolk, Parmesan Cream. OMG it looked divine.

Paris in the Upper East Side

By Marinite2 |

We popped in here for a drink of water (so of course had to order some wine, I mean really). Had a rosé and a too-warm red as one does in Paris and ordered th fabulous Parmesan-truffle fries. PERFECT. Ordered the kale-with-everything salad to go because lord knows what Alaskan Airlines will give you even in 1st class. Very nice, accommodating server.

Country Pate would order again!

By Lillian M |

Our two couples enjoyed attentive service and delicious lunch food. The best item we ordered was the homemade country pate. The salads and burger were very good.

I never write reviews! This is an exception.

Insufferably hot. Insufficient air conditioning. Deafening noise level. Just passable food with warm white wine. Stay away.

Wonderful authentic French bistro

By Allan S |

Lovely small bistro with a great feeling on 65 th Street. D curated to the teeth with normal stuff and very d cent food. All the usual suspects done nicely fir French taste. Service was pkay and the prices a bit high as you in prime area

Love the bar

By Tom P |

We enjoyed our visit immensely. Frances was our bartender and she had us in stitches the entire visit. She was engaging and makes a kick-butt old fashioned.

Maybe we ordered the wrong things!

By Yorkiemom520 |

My friends and I had dinner here the other night. Two of us ordered the French onion soup and I ordered the grilled octopus. The appetizers were nothing special. For our main dishes two of us ordered the steak and my other friend ordered the chicken. My steak was extremely hard to cut and hard to chew. In hindsight I should have sent it back to the kitchen. My other dining companion had no complaints about his steak. My other dining companion chicken was somewhat dry but she like me did not send it back. The restaurant has outdoor seating so on a warm night it would be nice to sit outside. We opted for indoor seating. Hostess and wait staff were pleasant and service was very good. I will give Match another try in the upcoming months.

Dinner with a friend

By GLOKRIFIO |

I had a great dinner. The atmosphere was perfect: great music, nice drinks … food was delicious. I had tuna tartare and polyp … both 🔝quality. The wine was excellent

A perfect lunch!

It really does feel like you’ve been exported to Paris. The food was delicious and our welcome was so warm. Prices are high but not unrealistic for New York. I can’t wait to return!

Good Choice

By Mary W |

We were here on a busy Saturday with our daughter-in-law and grandsons. The restaurant was very accommodating. The boys loved their steaks, Eggs Benedict was a hit, my burger was very good and my husband's omlet was so big he couldn't finish it. Nice atmosphere.

Excellent UES French/Needs To Add Less Expensive Wines

By StevensAve |

A pattern of UES mid-priced restaurants seems to be emerging: 1) fantastic food at excellent prix-quality, 2) exorbitant prices for wines by the glass ($15++), and, 3) few if any bottles of wine < $50. Match 65 is no exception to this rule. First, we dined on a Friday, and the three of us had the bouillabaisse daily special ($42). Delicious, delicious and delicious. Full of fish and seafood and imo a bargain. The two apps we had were good: tuna tartare with an under layer of mild guacamole; and the warm goat cheese salad. Both tasty and workmanlike. Wine, fortunately one of the wines under $50 was an excellent muscadet sèvre et maine an excellent white wine appellation from the Loire Valley which pairs beautifully with all manner of seafood. It was delicious and a good value at $45, especially since the price for white wines by the glass was in the high teens. If I was by myself or with someone not drinking, I would have skipped wine completely due to the wine pricing. How many people dining at Match 65 make this same choice to forego wine? Surely, some less expensive options could capture a good percentage of these folks and pad the restaurant’s bottom line without sacrificing the wine markup margin. Service was good only because it was not very busy. Our server, very sweet, was harried and often mia towards the end of the meal as the restaurant got busier. Not her fault but the restaurant for not having an adequate number of wait staff. This combined with the wine issue merits a one point deduction from the 5* food.

one of the best restaurant in nyc

By mikycapo |

top in nyc!!!!! everything was perfect. excellent food very kind and helpful staff ! highly recommended !it was a happy discovery

Loved everything about this French Gem!

By jtt37 |

We stopped in for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our food, the ambiance and the service. The croque monsieur was delicious and the gazpacho was even better. Nice mix of local families and visitors to town. Clean bathrooms, too.

A Lovely Authentic French Bistrot

By jamesgoren |

We had a great dinner at Match 65. The Steak Tartare was excellent, the escargot as good as in Paris. Finally the Tarte Tatin and the Creppe Suzette au Grand Marnier are second to none. The service is very friendly and the wine list is pretty complete even if obviously mostly French. I highly recommend this Bistrot.

Cozy neighborhood bistro

By PG-NY |

What a nice evening! I had a taste for steak frites at a cozy little bistro. This was the perfect answer! The setting was warm and friendly, the waitstaff was attentive yet let us just sit and chat. The hanger steak was juicy, cooked to perfection, and a generous portion. Skip the crepes Suzette which were a bit of a let down after the steak. The tuna tartar appetizer was good but a small portion for $19. Overall, enjoyed ourselves and would go back.

My fav place in Upper East

By Giulia Maria B |

A must place to go every time You are in NYC! It’s excellent for brunch lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is what I like the most. The staff is amazing and so is the owner, a beautiful Italian blonde lady who is always there supervise and entertain! Strongly recommend place to go

A memorable time!

Today was the final of the World Cup. This was the best place for experiencing this event with friends from all over NYC. Phenomenal host with excellent food as always❤️⚽️👯‍♂️👯‍♂️😋Thank you Flavia for your warm welcome!

Mandatory 5 star review

By marco b |

I haven't published reviews for a while, but dinner in this restaurant in NY, in the Upper East Side area, made me want to write again. An evening to meet up with some friends has in fact become a real celebration thanks to the environment and the vibrant energy of the place and above all to the quality of the food: I suggest tasting the delicious starters, the truly exquisite meat and finally the desserts, which are one spectacle aside, the profiteroles and crepes suzette with Grand Marnier in particular. The wine list is superb. The quality/price ratio is also excellent for a restaurant in NY.

Good French Restaurant

By John |

Really good French Restaurant, tasty food, variety of wines and cocktails, service was nice near Central Park. Take a shot with the pâté - really good, organic chicken and fantastic trout

I’ve always loved Match 65!

By Joe P |

I’d love this little French restaurant ever since it opened. Some of the best onion soup I’ve ever had with the cheese crisp on the top, really delicious french fries. Today I opted for the chicken paillard. we couldn’t resist the Apple tart! Everyone working there is always so friendly and accommodating. It was a great brunch starting off with delicious French croissants!

Unprofessional, rude .only care about money. Covid hazard!!!

By Herman G |

We made reservation for outside which was not honored. Owner manager extremely rude and totally unprofessional. Basically could not care about clients concerns. Major attitude. Place should be shut down!

Rip off

By Ritz1165 |

I really want to like this small, busy, welcoming restaurant. The noise level is extremely high. The wine glasses are tiny. Order a Chablis and you get no more than 3 ounces. At $19 a pop. And the food is only average to good. Not to mention the fact that if you are not sporting your A game you may pale bu comparison to the Euro, poseur and actual stars frequenting this local hot spot. The lovely blond hostess does a great job of being inclusive and finessing the self important.

Great service, food, and atmosphere!!

By Debra S |

I came here with my mom, kind of a last minute reservation and we were not disappointed!! We had a reservation for 5:00. Not busy, and the friendly staff sat us at a table far enough away from other people so we had privacy, but weren’t isolated. We ordered the Calamari was appetizer and it was perfection. Our waitress was very helpful and did not rush us at all between meals. I would come back in a heartbeat. Overall great service, great food, great atmosphere!

Very nice

Our NYC favorite!

By Mr B |

We have been spoiled by the great staff and chefs at Match 65 on two separate occasions (2018 & 2021) when we’ve had the opportunity to visit NYC. Intimate space, outstanding authentic French food, yet warm and inviting. We’ll be back!

Good spot

Excellent chicken Milan. Good wine selection. Pleasant and helpful service. Loved the old time Paris bistro layout. Recommended.

Extraordinary

By RK160 |

We were a large party on Thanksgiving. We have been to other places on a busy holiday evening before and were ready to make allowances for the situation. Match 65 exceeded all of our expectations. The food was extraordinary and the service was excellent. Every member of our group was very pleased with their choice. There was quite a debate on who got the best main.

Excellent food

By Gareth W |

This was our first visit to Match, we saw the bistro on our way to Central Park. They have a few tables outside which is great bearing mind we had our dog. The staff were very dog friendly and brought out some water for him immediately. I ordered the roast Amish chicken with mushroom sauce: the chicken flavor was superb, moist with a hint of germs. The mushroom sauce was also excellent. The service was also excellent and our server gave us good recommendations. We will definitely make Match a ‘go to’ place when visiting Central Park.

Love the daily specials

By B S |

Small local spot. Decent food. Need to know what to order. Can be expensive. Gets an eclectic crowd including tourists.

About as close to a Paris Brasserie as you can find in NYC!

By Dave J |

Great place in excellent location in midtown. Excellent menu, food and service. Ambiance is totally Parisienne. A bit off the beaten path, but even makes it better. Worth the effort. Small, so reservation is highly recommended, especially on weekends. Sense this is a favorite with the local East Side crowd - for good reason.

A fantastic "Golden oldie" in Manhattan

By elgdxb |

We made a prebooking for an after theatre dine 22.00. On arrival we were met with smiles an all were set. Chilld water in the glasses and wine in the coolers. Our Doverv Sole was served OFF the bone and was PERFECT for ALL the 12 of us. The fish was EXCELLENT!! A five out of five!!

Decent for brunch but way too many tables - 3.5 stars

By traveltime841 |

Went with friends for brunch - overall the food was pretty good. My croque madame had the appropriate crunch with the egg cooked properly, and I appreciated the option to have a side salad instead of fries. Of the other items ordered, my friends said the trout was quite good while the egg dishes were more "average". The biggest issue here is how many tables are stacked next to each other. You will hear several different conversations other than your own - and if someone in the restaurant is sick, two dozen people will be infected. Would eat here again for the good food, but will wait to see if they have the outdoor tables this summer rather than deal with all the noise inside this winter

Great French Bistro

By Gold Filp Flops |

My husband and I enjoyed this lovely restaurant on a rainy Sunday afternoon! Fabulous cocktail and food. You will not be disappointed.

Lunch, dinner, drinks…doesn’t matter. This place is great!

By jsenkbei |

Wife and I were visiting for US Open and this was our first stop for lunch. The crab cakes, pâté and drinks were fantastic. Service was awesome and outdoor patio in front of restaurant has a great scene and view of Madison ave. We ended up coming back for drinks the same evening and had an even better time. One of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had.

Nice French.

By saturdaydiner |

While visiting The Frick Collection we were going to lunch there. They couldn't accommodate our five but the hostess recommended Match 65 for lunch. Made a reservation for 2:00 and had an excellent lunch! Ironically, when we walked there from The Frick we realized as we entered that we had actually been to Match about four years ago for a drink and liked the coolness if it then. We had rather expensive tap beers and wines but you are in NYC. Lunch was very good! Excellent croquet monsieurs, lamb sausages and good but a little overpounded chicken milanese. Very nice service and a real good vibe.

A bit underwhelming....

By MagnoliaL1005 |

I have to say, the food was rather underwhelming. But the wine list quite amazing. The steak was great, the cut of meat excellent, the fries and all that went with the steak....not so much. The chicken Paillarde was burnt heavily on the edges, and the salad on top was very unexceptional, something you can easily get at Panera for the fraction of the price. The Pate of duck foie gras was tasty but it was supposed to come with "crostini" and it came with toasted white bread, I wondered if it was Wonderbread. The bread basket served at the beginning was also a little strange. It was not a French bread, it was something you can get at Eastern European Markets, a cross between sourdough and rye bread. It was served with butter so firmly chilled that this soft bread was disintegrating during the spreading of butter. I know those are small things and I wouldn't even mention them if it wasn't for the fact that this was supposed to be upscale place. Perhaps we went with too high expectations? The meal was saved by the most delicious crepe flambé with Grand Marnier. Delicious! One appetizer, two entrées, carafe of wine (half a bottle) and dessert, over $200. We had a great lady waiting on us but, just like everywhere these days, the tables are so close to each other I can hear the person at the table next to me better that the one sitting across from me (my partner). Not a very intimate experience.

Relaxed Dinner with Friends

By Somnolet |

We needed an Upper East Side restaurant within walking distance from the French Consulate. Match 65 was east to get to and to find, and we had a great dinner. A bit pricey, but the food was really good, and the wine selection was terrific. Our waitress had a wonderful attitude, and the staff was well organized. There was a mistake on one of our Entrees, but they fixed it within 10 minutes.

Lovely Authentic Paris Bistro Experience in NYC

By klen0821 |

Great cocktails, terrific food and great service in a location ideal for shopping break from Madison avenue boutiques. We had a wonderful experience and will return sometime soon.

Very nice place!

By Francesca G |

Very nice place, attention to detail, excellent food and service. Prices are high but in line with those of New York. Highly recommended!

Bof

By globalthierry |

In French “Bof” can translate as so-so. The decor inside is pleasant and somewhat French. The outside is ok in a rather busy cross street. The waiting staff does its job without passion, without that extra touch which makes you relax and happy to be there. The menu is balanced. The food is ok. Onion soup was good. French fries with the tartare were undercooked and mushy. The chocolate sauce on the profiteroles comes out of a bottle. The apple on the tarte tatin was raw and hard. And, for a French restaurant… no bread was offered. All this is average. Nothing really bad, nothing to make you happy. Maybe a touch of supervision by a stakeholder would bring it up to top. Excellent separation between each table inside.

I loved this place! It’s authentic Parisian bistro in the heart of Manhattan. Great service and great food. Lively atmosphere in a cozy setting.

Authentic French bistro with lovely atmosphere

Walked by and stepped in accidentally and because the restaurant was open today. It’s a nice authentic French brasserie. Quality of food is very good.

Absolute gem

Very busy and people waiting; I know why. The service was friendly and efficient, the wine was good and the food was outstanding. Good portion sizes and very good value.

Nothing too fancy but just right. Wonderful owner, wonderful service and the food was fantastic. I really enjoyed everything about it!

Nice Little Hidden Gem

By Dan F |

Was staying at a hotel on 63rd and the concierge recommended this place and I was very pleased with everything. They were packed with it being Restaurant Week. It is a very long and narrow dining room. Really enjoyed the Pate and the salmon dish was very flavorful. The wine list is not overly extensive but they do have some 1st growth selections. Service was friendly and timely.

Amazing Lobster!

By shannyn s |

Went to this small restaurant in upper east side... great night out.food delicious, service attentive. Would highly recommend this place!! Thursday night is lobster night... done to perfection.. melts in your mouth!!

Charming French Brasserie in Midtown

By JBentraveler |

We stopped for lunch and for a shopping break on Madison. This cute French place has nice outdoor seating and is a hot spot. It wasn't that crowded and we thought we could grab a quick meal, but it turned out that things took much longer than expected. But the food was very good. We had the chef special vegetable soup and the omelettes campagnarde. The brie, bacon and fingerling potatoes was very good. The soup was parried and also good. It is not the cheapest place, but it is off Madison. Had the service been better, we would rate it a 4.

Lovely

By L H |

Cute Paris bistro style place with a nice little bar area with good champagne by glass. Marta is such a friendly and personable bartender!

Parisian Paradise

By Carol H |

We were in from Chicago for a NYC wedding and my son and I happened on this gem of a spot very close to our hotel. What a lovely bistro. Every detail is lovely. Atmosphere, food, service was incredible! A new favorite among many.

Neighborhood gem

Super yummy food and the staff is very welcoming. This restaurant has all right ingredients for both residents and visitors. I will go again and again! It is an NYC gem on the UES.

I’ve French bistro

By Niv T |

A very nice cozy place - the soup of the day was excellent and the steak was tasty. Nice feel all round and good service. I’d come back.

Excellent French bistro

By jfnnyc |

Really enjoyed this authentic cozy French bistro. We made reservations at the last minute. It was the height of the holiday season. They gave us the first booth past the captains table. They couldn’t have been nicer. The food was excellent. The family sitting next to us struck up a conversation with us and it turned out that they became engaged at our table some years ago! Go figure.

Great Dinner in NYC

By Rebecca |

First dinner here on a long weekend in NYC. We had eaten here several years before and were looking forward to returning. Once again we really enjoyed our experience. It’s not a large restaurant so the tables are very close and it gets very noisy but the service and food are excellent! We started with several appetizers including the French Onion soup, steak tartare, tuna tartare and a salad. The steak tartare was fabulous! For entrees our group had the salmon, the pork chop, the poulet roti, and the branzino. All were good choices. We shared the crepes suzettte for dessert and were very pleased with our choice. Will definitely return again.

Very good French restaurant

By TennesseeDomer |

Excellent ambience and delicious food. I had the croque monsieur, mom had the chicken paillarde. Both were great! Also had a side of green beans and apple tart for dessert. Everything was delicious. Service was good.

Super!

By Stefano T |

Alle Super! Tutto buono! Everything very good! The dishes in general are very good: I suggest the meat - I tryed it several times - and the onion soup. Reservation recommended, usually it’s full.

Bien sur

By Bmerkle2005 |

We closed out celebrating our anniversary weekend in the city here. For a Saturday night we were thrilled to find a space that was not crowded, it appeared to be regulars as the staff knew them. The staff treated us the same. Salad Nicoise and Poulet Roti were our choices. Delicious! We shared warmed chocolate cake and coffee. Comfortable seating and we could hear each other without raising our voices...loved the space and hope to return on our next visit.

Great restaurant if you’re craving Paris!

By TravFoodDrin |

Very authentic little French Restaurant. Service was prompt, food was excellent and as expected, and the ambiance was perfect.

Wonderful service terrific food PARIS at Its Best.

By Nana B |

I cannot say enough about the staff at Match 65 Brasserie. Julia was very calm when I called running late for a reservation. Flavia, Julia and Santiago made my experience feel like being in Paris. All of the food I had was delicious and pretty. There was no pressure to hurry between courses. Being on my own, I was especially seated in a corner so I could be private and yet observe the coming and going of people. Santiago was most helpful with the menu, and Flavia stopped to talk. I would come here every week,if I lived here. Isle flotante is the only item missing. Five stars for everything.

Late night dinner after theater

By PhiladelphiaPhillip |

Was a little bit dubious about this spot in spite of the pretty good reviews on trip-advisor. Nonetheless I decided to give it a try after seeing the theater, and getting there before it closed. The country pate was just phenomenal, and the chicken Palliard was as good as any I have had in France. Topped off with the most wonderful tarte Tatain with vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream. Perfect summer night dinner. And the service was just impeccable.

Lunch on a freezing day

By 4nonni |

Like stepping into a Paris bistro. Very crowded neighborhood gem. Onion soup was very popular choice. The pate was delicious as well. Couple glasses of wine & we were ready to face the cold again.

Perfect Sunday Brunch Before Museum-Hopping

By Chancy K |

This tiny bistro just east of Central Park gave us the perfect prelude to an afternoon at the Frick. The decor, the music, the service, the surroundings and most of all the food took us back to Paris. And yes, you can get alcohol in NYC before noon on Sunday—we had been misinformed (yay). We would come back in a heartbeat.(Try the truite au pesto!)

Great brunch experience for special Father’s Day and birthday celebration

By jennymosk |

The service, the food, the atmosphere, the location right near Central Park - all added up for a wonderful experience celebrating our family’s fathers day and our great aunt’s special birthday! Highly recommend - the manager named Tik was so gracious to work with - she compiled a delicious prix fixe menu for us which organized our meal choices and helped us manage costs - The service was perfectly timed - our party of 8 always had what we needed and we never felt rushed We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! - thank you Match65 ! Definitely recommend for a fun festive delicious time!

Used to be My Favorite

By Jacqueline Qz |

My company orders from here often for lunches or we go in for dinner. It used to be one of my favorite places in the UES, because of their delicious French Onion Soup and Mussels Marinières, and of course other delicious plates. Within the last months I have noticed a change within my food, specifically my French Onion Soup, not sure what they have done to change it, but it's not a good one! There has definitely been a change in seasoning or style of preparation. I am sad to let this place go, but others within my company have noticed the change in food as well.

Paris in style and substance on 65th at Match65.

By Crctrip |

Creating a French Bistro experience is a challenge for a Restraunt and Match 65 has done so exceptionally well. Speaking with our waitress, who has worked there for 16 years, their passion for meeting the highest standard of this classic style of cuisine is palpable. And the atmosphere is electric. Pure left bank. What to choose? We began with Steak Tartar and Escargot. Parsley butter boiled around the Escargot in the classic escargot dish. Seemingly making a comeback in many establishments , the presentation of the humble snail was succulent. It’s flavouring enhanced by the heavy use of parsley. A classic bistro dish, Steak Tartar is becoming more widespread in North America cuisine. Unfortunately, it often has the flavour profile of a Costco hamburger. Match65 brings a spiced masterpiece. A quail egg, presented in its half open shell (one must admire the Sous chef who carefully exposes the the egg while preserving the shells - a most perfect vessel). Gently turning the fragile shell, the egg flows into the Tartar to be quickly mixed with the meat. Such promise in presentation does not disappoint. Spiced and bound with the egg the flavours stand out and dance on the palate. The mains must be Les Moules. These are presented in a classic pot. And they are large, meaty and delicious. My companion, did register an objection. There were too many to easily reach the sauce! Crepe Suzette ought not be missed, if only for the waiter lighting the dish with a flick of a bic, at the table in a shallow dish. The crepe itself was basic, not equal to Le Continental in Quebec City. They are different beasts one highly formal the other a Bistro. The espresso is excellent. So the next day we returned again! My companion returned to the escargot. I chose the French Onion Soup, which was excellent but needed more wine to flavour the broth. Coq au Vin and Steak Frits came next. Both classics. While the soup lacked the needed wine, the Coq was full flavoured and moist. Though not a fan of the oft overcooked, tough and undersized Steak many places offer up, I trusted here the quality would be upheld. I requested rare. The risk! And what a reward. The Angus cut was generous and perfectly rare. Tenderness worthy on a tenderloin. The Frits held up the standards. A word about the wine list. It is extensive. I chose by the glass the Cote de Rhone was solid with the Moules. I heartily recommend the Pomerol with the steak. It was full bodied, Heaven on the pallet and a touch tannic. My companion enjoyed Pinot Grigio and the Sauvignon Blanc. Alas, one can only say there were as intended! In a city with too many indifferent Italian, and oft over priced, Italian offering cross Madison and meet your Match on 65th.

Classic Parisian ambience and very good brunch

By Adrienne C |

The ambience here is like stepping into a quintessential Parisian brasserie. Everything from the lighting to the wall accents to the flooring is down to a tee. As a hardcore Francophile, this is definitely my kind of spot. I’d say my omelette was very good, but nothing life-changing. That being said, I’d definitely go back for the lovely atmosphere.

Loved it and came twice

By bax52 |

We both loved this bistro on a cold snowy weekend and came twice. Nice wines and it was lovely to enjoy the excellent French Onion Soup on a cold winters day. Servers super nice and ambience excellent. We would return if looking for drinks and food in Madison Av. area again

Amazing place

By Francisco Mendes |

Very good food, reasonable price, excellent crew. My best meal in NYC. We reached the place 30 minutes after our reservation, but the staff made everything to put us in a table in less than 5 minutes. We ordered 3 different plates, all of them very good. A place to go more often.

French onion soup yummy

By Zariel2003 |

I am sooo happy and sad that I hadn’t tried it sooner , to have found this little gem . One of my sons wanted French onion soup another one wanted steak , what else can you get that mash up unless you go to a French restaurant. I finallly find the best NYC French ionic soup and this is it!! Along with yummy food service was true quality and attentiveness which is hard to find in NYC . Fact the manager Julie was kind enough to give my son a take home mouse which he enjoyed . Will rerun and make a reservation, small yet gets packed quickly .

Good service and good food.

By Rocky S |

Good service and good food. Unfortunately they abandoned outdoor eating because they say their heaters don’t work. That’s strange because the pandemic is not over.

Tasty French food

By henriknurnberg |

We chanced upon this French gem for lunch after a museum and a walk in central park. There were 3 of us who got a delicious tartar with bread croutons and a good glass of Pinot noir and the others got a nice Croque Monsieur with fries.

Lovely, friendly bar!

By bennyt100 |

We were in the midst of a blizzard and by chance happened upon match 65. We were might be the friendliest staff and the nicest drinks, English tea to Irish whiskey and a Stella and a hoegarden to boot. Never caught her name but the Irish bar lady gave us loads of recommendations which we took up and enjoyed immensely!! So if you're reading this, thank you :-)

Awesome service! Cozy nice place, delicious food, we had calamari, stake and salad it was delicious and desserts yummm Will come back in out next visit to NY.

Cute Cafe

By Ashely Fang |

The ambiance is nice and quiet, but based on my prior French cuisine experience, I did not find the food particularly authentic. Given the prices and the quantity we were served, I'd argue this restaurant is really only worth it if you like large helpings of French fries in addition to a normal-sized portion of food. Had the prices been lower I would have been a bigger fan.

Not French

By Zanotti-A-broad |

Disappointed. Perhaps it is my fault for assuming that a restaurant with "Brasserie" in its name would be a French-food-serving establishment. Beyond the 'steak frites' there was not much French. There were several pasta dishes and even mozzarella. Ummmmm...... No. Oh, and my 'branzino' tasted like shampoo.

good food in a room with a buzz

By stephen m |

The food is excellent, and with the dearth of good restaurants in this area, it always seems busy. That may be a mixed blessing, but if you like a restaurant with a buzz and consistently good food this is a good choice.

Brunch pre-cruise

By B7837LWjimj |

NYC almost Paree. Spending a few days in the City before cruising the Northeastern Coastline ending in Montreal. So Why Not start off with a bit of Paris on the sidewalks of NewYork? French wines by the glass, house made cocktails, Eggs Benedict and Steak Tartare with truffles pomme frites. And to finish...au pain chocolate made with French flour and chocolate. Qué Magnifiqué! The service even better. Friendly New York...imagine that.

New York prices, but excellent food and atmosphere

By Matthew |

Fantastic little find. Chose here because we were meeting people who had dogs for lunch, and this place has nice little outdoor patio/sidewalk seating suitable for some leashed and well-behaved doggos, as well as being right off of Madison on our route between Times Square and Central Park / Met museum. In addition to the great location and atmosphere, the food is quite good... not cheap, but also not bad by NYC standards. Got the Nicoise Salad and it was very... Nice. (ha! get it? but seriously... it was excellent) Apparently good enough for celebrities, anyway... walked in to use the restroom, and looked left to see Andrew Garfield by himself at a table, casually having lunch.

Good and tasty food

By PaulS |

Nice French bistro, with good food. It is a little bit small, but that is good for the atmosphere. We eat there because of my 60th birthday and they give me a great evening. The tables are a little bit small, so if you are with a group of four, keep this in mind.

Almost excellent

By Andrew K |

Our party of three was looking forward to French Bistro food near the NY Armory, and we were not disappointed -- after all, it's a bistro, even if the prices are not bistro-like, but high-class. $17 for a Manhattan cocktail is not bistro, and neither is $16 each for two 5 oz Sauvignon Blancs. The Pate de Campagne ($17) was fine; The Crispy Calamari ($18) was limp, not crispy. The Amish Chicken ($34) was a hit, as was the Mushroom Ravioli ($28), and the Trout Amandine ($32) was perfect, as were the Truffle Fries ($12). Tea, coffee and Cappuccinos filled out the meal, and the filled-out tab of $225 before tip for three at dinner. $87 each, including tip, was the final tally.

We found this beautiful brasserie on our way back from a walk in Central Park and we stopped for a late lunch (FYI they don't close between lunch and dinner like most restaurants in the city do!). We were expecting the typical upper east side attitude given the location but, au contraire, everybody was very friendly and professional. Tuna Tartare and trout are amazing.

Rude service, poor experience

Mediocre food, crowded, extremely rude manager. Had good expectations but this was a big disappointment.

Wonderful French feeling in Upper East side

This was a nice experience, fresh ingredientes and modern french cuisine. The wine list is a bit limited below US$70 per bottle. Recommended.

Birthday Lunch!!

We happened on this place as it was near the hotel and what gem!! This place is right out of Paris!! I loved it!

Excellent Bistro

On a very rainy weekend in New York we were welcomed in and seated quickly. This bistro has boards featuring their specials for the evening. Authentic food with good service. A quite extensive wine list with wines by the glass too. Features all the familiar dishes one would expect in France.

Lovely food, ambience and service - cosy and fun

This was a terrific find, recommended by concierge at The Pierre. My daughter and I had a short trip to NYC and this was a memorable part of it. Fabulous, warm and friendly service - the gorgeous hostess, Faye, from Paris, was incredibly welcoming and came back to check on us a couple of times during our dinner. The food was delicious! The onion soup is a must, the steak frites very very good. Luke the manager was charming and attentive and helpful with the wine list. We would certainly go back again - a beautiful little piece of Paris in the heart of Manhattan.

Good place to get lunch in the Upper East Side

I went here for lunch with a friend and really love this location. Its easy to get to and is in the middle of all the best places to shop on Madison ave. I ordered the great healthy salad and thought it was good. Iced latte was really good. The service was amazing, everyone who works there is super nice and attentive. The outdoor seating is perfect on a nice summer day. @traveleen_gurl
