Stopped in with a group of 15 for brunch/early lunch on a Saturday. Was seated right away upstairs. They have several tables set-up for larger groups. I had a dark chocolate hot chocolate to help shake off the cold. Very tasty. All kinds of add-ins and additional flavors are available. Ordered a BALT, like a BLT but with avocado. Excellent sandwich on some really nice toasted bread. Came with a side of waffle fries; crispy, just right. Several at the table had waffles and more breakfasty items; all were enjoyed, plates were cleaned. Enough on the menu that even picky eaters could find something. Would love to go back for some of the dessert offerings or the fondue.

We were so happy to accidentally find this gem after walking around the city all morning. Portions were a great size, food was amazing, and it was a fun, comfortable atmosphere for a family of 4 to relax and refuel! Dessert was also incredible, as I’m sure most of the sweet options are! Great spot overall!

This is a really cool restaurant with a great vibe and decorations. The service was good. Unfortunately the food was just okay and the fondue was very disappointing. It was cold and just not that tasty. It felt overpriced and not something we will do again.

been there twice. really liked the chocolate, the portions are not too big, not too sweet and really tasty. recommend definitely

thought this place looked fun but rude girl on reception desk dispelled that idea. 2 of us asked for a table of 4 to meet up with the rest of our family. Asked if I had a reservation and were all the party here. When I said no was told they could not seat half a party and to sit over in waiting area. When I asked if us 2 could not go to a table and wait whilst looking at the menu the reception girl leant across the desk saying, 'huh' making out she couldn't understand polite English. When I repeated my request was told bluntly no. Needless to say we walked out.

We recently visited this restaurant after being recommended by a friend, my partner is a chocoholic so it was a great place to bring him. The desert was amazing but was completely let down by the service. Our server didn’t look like they wanted to be their and it felt like we were just an inconvenience to them. It’s a shame that they don’t feel the need to give good service as they know people are going to go there anyways as the deserts and chocolate is so great! We really enjoyed our food but left feeling slightly disappointed.

This place is truly awesome and it’s a must to check in when you are visiting NYC. The food is very good and well priced and the desserts are truly amazing! It is really a great experience :)

Stopped here for lunch. They offer you a chocolate upon entering- now that’s my kinda place! We had the BALT- which was very good and the Mac and cheese. Also the spicy Mexican got chocolate was a favorite. Husband also got a milk shake which he loved. Very enjoyable experience. Also the waitress was excellent, she didn’t even write our order down but memorized it all!

Great waiter who steered us well on the menu. The fondue is a must-do, but our entrees are great, too! Will definitely visit again on our next trip to NYC.

Umm, I don't even know how or where to start. Like this is literally amazing. The chocolate is so delicious I don't actually know how to describe it. You have to go here. They also do have food which is also extremely delicious. The quality of the food and chocolate is crazy good and I just haven't had anything even close to Max Brenner and I doubt I ever will. Service is also really great. Staff is nice and hospitable. You might have a hard time getting a seat and will have to wait in line for a while but let me tell you, it is worth it. Go here.

This place suffers from having a great niche idea and then trying way too hard to expand it beyond their expertise. In short, the desserts, decor, and atmosphere make it worth the trip, but save some money and don't bother with a full meal. The decor is a dizzying display of chocolate and Willy Wonka-esque contraptions that appear to funnel liquid chocolate around the restaurant. It's loud, colorful, and smells terrific. There is some creativity in the regular menu as they have tried to infuse chocolate in some fashion into a few dishes, but none that we had was worth getting again, such as the onion rings with chocolate-ranch dressing. The menu is pretty basic and kid-friendly, but dessert is where this place shines. The hot chocolate selections alone are amazing to just read about, then there are milkshakes, waffles, fondue, crepes, dessert pizzas, and a ton more delectable items. Go for the chocolate!

Delicious chocolate if you got the cravings and the waiters there are amazing and cool. I got the European fondue and man was it good with the milk and dark chocolate. One thing I do recommend though is to share cause the sizes are huge and you’ll get the chocosweats from the chocosweets.

Breakfast was heavenly and the italian thick hot chocolate was LIFE CHANGING. Staff was friendly and efficient.

This place needs updating! The bench seating was completely torn & had stuffing hanging out, & the tables are old, scratched & stained. The dinner was fine, & the fondue platter to share was awesome! We loved roasting marshmallows at our table & dipping strawberries into dark chocolate.

Good chocolate - the kids enjoyed the chocolate fondue and waffle. However the service was absolutely terrible: the room was empty, staff was walking iddlessly, yet it took them 10 mn to bring us water, and we waited 30 mn to receive our order : the staff told us it was because the waffles were made to order however we saw said waffles sitting on the counter for 10 mn before there were served, and our order was wrong and not what We ordered (we asked for the dark and milk chocolate fondue, we received the mild and white chocolate fondue). Our waitress was rude. We will not come back - chocolate fondue is not that special to justify both the prices and the bad service.

Kids enjoyed the novelty of the extensive hot chocolate and dessert menu, but the food was just okay. Most disappointing was the salad - cucumbers and avocado were really borderline and should not have been served at all. Don’t go out of your way to hit this place- we honestly had a better meal for half the price at Shake Shack.

The chocolate here is amazing. Chocolate milk is like drinking creamy melted chocolate, delicious. The (alcoholic) Intoxicake in dark chocolate is the best drink I have ever had, love it. The food is ok to pretty good. We liked the chicken caprese sandwich. Desserts are very very good. Kid friendly. Be prepared to shop after, they sell chocolate to go

We had lunch at Max Brenners. It was recommended to us as a fun restaurant to take children to. It was brilliant. The food was excellent and the desserts were amazing. Try the chocolate pizza for dessert - you can order it by the slice! It is a fun place to visit, with great food and desserts.

Very cute atmosphere at Christmas time. The chocolate was delicious. We enjoyed hot chocolates, mixed cocktails, and sharing fondue. All very cute. The service was lacking though. Drinks were served after an appetizer had been cleared. One ordered item was totally forgotten. Everything took too long compared to other tables around us.

This is a full-fledged sit down restaurant with many delicious entrees such as sandwiches and salads in addition to all the chocolate options.

We were visiting from the suburbs to see the History of Magic exhibit at the NYHS and my youngest child insisted we go here since he had been there with a friend. I wasn't going to drive so far out of my way, but he was insistent we go...so we went. We had a late lunch/early dinner with chocolate for dessert. Our server was very nice but it was very loud and crowded and at one point, they turned down the light and cranked up the music - why? We had burgers with fries and then assorted chocolate desserts. My son and I shared the chocolate fondue and it was very good. I would have liked to try the hot chocolate, but it was a bit warm and muggy outside and I just didn't feel like it was HC weather... I would try it again, but not for a meal and dessert - just the dessert or cups of hot chocolate - we were so full! Luckily, the Strand is nearby, so I was able to walk a bit before heading back to the car. Kudos to my son for the recommendation!

We stopped by this restaurant on our walk back to our hotel. My daughter heard it was nice and it was. My wife, my daughter, and I shared a decadent chocolate and wiped cream desert. It had a little (or a lot) of just about everything I like – chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, caramel, and more. We had a feeding frenzy followed by a sugar high. Even though we were walking that night, I think I would have to walk to Detroit and back to walk over the calories …. but it was worth it!

Spacious arrangement with an upstairs that is cozy. Great Chocolate and the cocktails are superb if you like rich without being just a sugar rush. Either waiters are overworked or they just don't care to sell the concept after the many impressed patrons. It has potential but if waiters just want to get you served and disposed off the whole idea crumbles. Had I got a more relaxed service I would return more than for the novelty of what is offered.

My Mexican hot chocolate was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed his milk & peppermint holiday special hot chocolate. The cups they are served in are really fun and nice to drink from. Our server was so nice and really good. I can’t remember his name but he had one really cool earring. We tried the caramel pecans in the store too which were really good.

We visited Max Brenners twice on our trip to NY, once for dinner and we also wanted to try the fondue to went on our last day. For the first trip I reserved a table online before our trip for the Saturday evening expecting it to be busy and I am glad I did, it was packed! There was an hour and a half wait for walk-ins. We were sat near the back of the restaurant which was good as the front I can imagine gets very cold with the doors, the hostesses seemed really cold - one had her coat on!! Think they need to get one of those porch things for the Winter for sure! I had the mac n cheese for dinner and it was really good, the portion was very large though and I only managed half, definitely something you could share. We had hot chocolates which were amazing so on our second visit we had the same hot chocolates with the traditional chocolate fondue. The fondue was delicious and we really enjoyed it, although the little fire didn't last long to toast the marshmallows so make sure you do that first! Also, our hot chocolates were not massively hot.. we were leaving for the airport though so didn't really have time to say anything. Would definitely say to go here, even if it is just for the hot chocolate - one of the best i've had (when its hot!)

1. Get a reservation 2. Grab a hot chocolate while you wait...they are 8 ounces, but with lots of flavor options. 3. The artichoke and spinach fondue app with the best soft pita bread you’ve ever tasted is a great starter. 4. There’s a menu to look at while you wait, but the dessert and drinks menu on the table is clutch. 5. The crepes were outstanding. We went banana hazelnut! 6. The pancakes were awesome too. 7. We would pass on the caprese chicken sandwich next time. 8. Try to pace yourself...good luck with that!

We chose this restaurant thinking it was still owned by the founder it was named after, Max Brenner. Only after eating there did we look into the history and realize it had been bought out and the current owners have been quite hurtful to Mr. Brenner. That was a disappointment. But the restaurant itself did not disappoint. It was crazy crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but we managed to get seats at the counter (which I recommend – you can watch the food prepped and see how the dishes come together!). We ordered a chocolate, hazelnut, banana crepe and an Italian hot cocoa (both to share). Let me first say – the Italian hot cocoa was amazingly delicious. All of the hot chocolates come in “hug mugs” that ergonomically fit your hands and make you feel like you are hugging something precious (the cups are also for sale in the gift shop). The cocoa was just the right temperature and the hug mug held plenty for both of us. The crepe was also very very tasty. We had the pleasure of watching it made as we sat at the counter, and that added a bit of “special-ness” to it. It was gorgeously presented and gobbled up in no time. The restaurant is quite LOUD. It is a big space and I am not sure if any sound proofing is in place to try and quiet the dining experience or not. And the ladies’ bathroom only has 2 stalls, both of which were quite dirty. A restaurant with as much seating as Max Brenner definitely needs more than 2 women’s stalls. Employees were using the same bathrooms, meaning they had to wait in line, too. One sink was out of SOAP (worrisome in a dining establishment), the other was out of hand towels. The FOOD here gets a 5. But the loudness, dirty bathrooms, and inability to MOVE in the gift shop due to poor layout get 3 s. So overall, I think it deserves a 4.

We’ve been to Max Brenner’s chocolate restaurant in Las Vegas a few times (okay, I admit we went there a few times during one visit to Vegas - it was that good) and once before in New York. Sadly the restaurant in Vegas is gone but fortunately the one in New York is alive and busy. It was around 8:00 on a Thursday night when we wandered in for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation and the place was full. We got out name on the waiting list and because it’s NY had plenty to occupy us as we walked around for about 40 minutes before our table was ready. It was worth the wait. Inspire of the place still being full to capacity, the waiters were all over it; no problem getting anything, cheerful service, food came quickly, and we enjoyed people watching. I could end here but in the spirit of full disclosure I will add that it was all good but the food just wasn’t as tasty as the Vegas restaurant -specifically the chocolate dusted waffle fries tasted like plain ol’ fries. That was the only bummer.

Honestly the food was not the best. The chocolate was not nearly as good as everyone tries to make it seem. The service was great. If you come here don’t waste your time on ordering the chocolate cake it was dry and not good at all. Don’t order the Mac and cheese either it’s average at best. I will say the service was good. My brother enjoyed his burger. Friendly staff

Fabulous place for true chocolate lovers. Beginning with their chocolate based drinks, entree’s and dessert - is a treasure trove for all chocolate lovers! Their pizzas and other main dishes are sumptuous and tasty too. Most enjoyed with truly enthusiastic choco-lovers!

We decided to split a pizza, so we would have more room for chocolate. The milk shake was really rich, but delish. The pizza is thin crust and we really enjoyed it. We got a sampler desert platter that had crepe, waffle, chocolate, fondue with brownies, and fruit. This place is actually pretty reasonably priced for NYC. We couldn't eat it all. It's a cool place to eat if you want something different.

Stopped in for coffee and desserts. Great fun! I am not a chocolate lover but if I lived near here I could become one.

Superb superb superb!! From the ambience to the service to the presentation of food to the taste! Found everything impeccable to the core!! A must for chocolate lovers! Didn’t really know how much to fit into our tummies with such an exotic menu. Every dish that went to another table had us drooling!!! A MUST GO for both chocolate lovers and lovers of simple things made so perfect like a panini

from my favorite places in new york very rich chocolate I went twice in one day for hot chocolate my favorite was peanut butter hot chocolate is delicious what have to try!

Divine chocolate!!! We had a waffle and a peanut butter hot chocolate which was phenomenal. Good quality chocolate and good service.

Crepe was delicious, but the place feels too cramped. You could hardly pull out your chair to sit without bumping person at the next table. They should remove a few tables!

Wonderful Choices for Breakfast. Use the dessert menu to order amazing breakfast items. Recommend the cheesecake crepe and waffle with side of mixed berries. Delicious coffee and chai tea. Max Brenner certainly delivers a decadent chocolate experience! We had wonderful service professionally provided by George. A “born and raised” New Yorker, George serves as a great example of New York hospitality.

Love this! The atmosphere reminds us of Willy Wonka! Quite a few of us ordered the mac & cheese. While good, not quite as good as we remembered. We ordered a fondue dessert to share and it seemed a little smaller. All in all still worth the stop!

I liked this restaurant, the service was great, the food was good, the desserts were good as you would expect from the name. But the noise was just too much, I have never been in a restaurant as noisy as this and it was busy but there was loud music as well. We couldn't speak to each other across the table. It really spoilt it unfortunately, we almost skipped dessert as we couldn't stand it, which was the reason we came in the first place. The waitress got our dessert order wrong, probably because she couldn't hear properly. I wanted to like it more but won't be back because of the noise. It is pretty expensive also

... There will be a second visit... Came here for just the pudding and a smoothie, price was reasonable! I did order the desert because I saw a video on facebook and really wanted to visit.. I wouldn't order that desert again, just because it was a little too sickly for me. I would definitely re-visit for the taste of the hot choc in the snug mug and try the waffles! This restaurant gives you exactly what they advertise. Service, very prompt and the staff that served us was a gentleman! Wish I got his name.. Many thanks

I ordered the Chocolate Waffle topped with chocolate chips and was amazed by the additional touches it came with: warm dark chocolate drizzle, crunchy chocolate dots, fresh strawberries, and a lovely scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was actually two waffles (I had to order another scoop of ice cream) and easily could have been shared, preferably shared! I consumed so much sugar and chocolate that I woke up at 1:20 a.m. with a headache! But I did not regret it; what a delicious experience!

I had visited this place many times before and it was quite good. Came back after 2 years away from the city and I was excited to go back and have a bite there with my wife. So we got reservations and the moment we arrive the nightmare starts. Hostess is on fb and extremely rude. Will not even lift her face from her phone to talk to us. After making us wait while she browses her phone she gets us to a table drops 2 menus and leaves with the same rude behavior. My wife gets seated on the couch and I take the chair which happens to have some liquid on it. I stay standing nearly 5 minutes before a waiter shows up to clean my chair. After that we sit and wait while we flip a menu with pages stuck together with something gooey. I go to the toilet to wash my hands and find that the bathroom is literally a dump!!! Tissues everywhere and overflowing the bin! Someone literally crapped on the seat and around it!!! 15 min later a waitress shows up and asks us what we want to order so I tell her about the experience that we are having and that we are thinking of just leaving having lost our appetite with everything that is going on. instead of apologizing she just tells us ok then leaves. So we stood and walked straight out of this dirty place. To be honest never going back there ever!!! If the front end of this restaurant is this dirty then imagine what is going on in the kitchen!!! So many other clean places in the city who have a much better customer service!!!

Go there for desert only, great place for kids ...the deserts are good but an overload of sugar...too much sugar

We love this restaurant and try to go to it every time we go to a city that has one! The menu items are delicious, I LOVE the macaroni and cheese, and the desserts are to die for! But you need to plan ahead and make reservations!!! The service is always great at every location and the ambiance is clean and fun!

I found this place when searching for something special to do with my 13 year old on our visit. The hot chocolate (I got dark) was exceptionally good, and my daughter loved her milkshake. The four of us also split the fondue with the marshmallows and brownies, etc. So much decadence, but so worth it. The only downside was our waitress, she seemed to be in a miserable mood. It was a downer, and made us want to get out of there as soon as we were done.

This restaurant seemed to be highly thought of, often when you go to a restaurant with high expectations you can sometimes be let down... however we were not! The atmosphere was great, the waiter was fabulous - very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the Brenner Burger and the Berry Salad, both were incredible. I then tried the Key Lime Crepe which was also delicious along with the Hot Chocolate (a little too chocolatey for me though). A 'must go' place if you are staying in New York, but remember to book a table.

We enjoyed the chocolate experience and went back a couple of times. it is pricey but some of the unique offerings make it worthwhile. It does get busy on the weekend, you can always eat at the bar. Fun for kids and adults too. Specialty shakes and fondue were a hit.

THE CUTEST PLACE IN ALL OF NEW YORK! Highly recommend making a reservation. It is Christmas in NY all wrapped up in one. Their environment makes up for the food, haha! We ordered dessert, their fondue, the flavor was lacking (chocolate) and I was disappointed that this was a restaurant known for their dessert and they didnt have an extensive coffee menu. BUT I would still come back again and again. We got a few of their specialty drinks and added graham crackers and raspberry sauce to our order. The music and the decor made it so cozy, we didnt mind that we were inches away from the other tables, ha! Oh and the wait staff was so kind.

My husband and I visited on Christmas Day. I made a reservation an hour before our time through open table. I’m glad I did because when we got there the wait was around a hour. The waiter we had was very attentive. I know he was busy with it being Christmas Day but he did inform us it would be a few minutes until he got our drinks. Several minutes later we placed our whole order. He didn’t write anything down and everything was perfect! We both had burgers which were good. The fries are my favorite now! They tasted like a mix between Chick-fil-A and Checkers! Make sure you eat some fries! We had fondue for dessert. It was pretty good but the chocolate wasn’t very warm. I feel like you should get more dippers for the price. We were in and out in less than a hour. Overall it was a great experience!

Yum. Yum. Yum. The chocolate is good and the food is wow. Tried some new things on this visit. The French toast was REALLY good. The quesadilla was top notch. Kids menu items were ok. The B.A.R.T sandwich which is a BLT with avocado was ok - Nothing special. For dessert the urban s’mores was a nice treat for the kids. Watch out for the fire!

We came here for dinner and dessert. The portions are HUGE so that may have been a mistake to attempt both. I ordered the OMG quesadillas with chicken; they were good enough, but as a Texan I’ve definitely had better quesadillas in my life - about what I expected in NYC. My friend had the max & cheese with fried chicken (she shared a few bites with me) and we both thought it was just incredible. We didn’t eat much because we were saving room for dessert. We ordered the sharing fondue with milk chocolate and the variety of items on the tray turned out to be perfect for us. I loved the crepe, but she preferred the waffle. Toasting marshmallows was fun and the chocolate itself was great. I’m going to have to bring my son here on his first NYC trip next year.

We asked someone where we could eat away from the main restaurants around Times Square and was advised to visit here. We were so glad we did as this is chocolate heaven for anyone. We did have a small starter first which wasn't small and then had chocolate martinis and cookie and ice cream. Very busy restaurant so you need to book but worth a visit.

Max Brenner is the place for all things melty & delicious. I had the mac & cheese with crispy chicken and my son had the kids mac & cheese. I don’t remember what my husband ordered but I remember that he loved it. For dessert we got the classic European fondue with milk & dark chocolate - so fun & so good. I know the fire is for roasting marshmallows, but roast a banana slice just a little then dip in the toffee sauce and thank me later!

We always make a stop here when we’re in the city. A treat every time. This year we had a waitress that was exceptional. They’re all good but this waitress was above all expectations We had Mac and cheese with mushrooms and bacon. WOW! Beet and arugula salad delish Of course we had chocolate drinks. Hot chocolate and martinis. Milkshakes ! Crepe with strawberries and chocolate! Can’t wait to go back!

What a great place! Service was fantastic and, even though it was crowded, we did not have to wait too long for a table. My burger was probably the best burger ever and we had three types of chocolate fondue with fruit, cake and brownie bits for dessert! It's not a quiet place, so if you good with a noisy, fun place, it's a must!

Amazing chocolate lovers restaurant. The Mac n’ cheese with bacon was awesome! This is a MUST! BEST I have ever had. We had the Italian dark hot chocolate to drink…WOW!!! A definite “10”. We also had the the chocolate fondue to share. Loved it! What a fun experience. It was our 4th time to visit. Wonderful place for family dining out & date nights! The fun Christmas Market at Union Square Park is only a 1/2 block away!

I recently visited Max Brenners with my parents and my partner, and whilst the service was not always great, the food was delicious!!! When we walked in, and requested a table, the lady that served us couldn’t have been any colder. She barely acknowledged our existence, and there was no chance of any attempt at even a smile. The restaurant was extremely busy, but we managed to grab the last 4 person table. When our food was originally brought out, everything was cold, but after speaking with our waitress, she quickly had this sorted and was very apologetic. The food was DELICIOUS! All of us absolutely loved everything we ate, the burgers, flatbreads, onion rings, so tasty! Next was the desserts which were equally gorgeous (cookie skillet is a must). You cannot visit Max Brenners without having a hot chocolate, and again it did not disappoint. Easily the tastiest hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Don’t be put off by any negativities here, this place is a great visit for any trip to NY, and our waitress made up for any frosty reception originally received. Tasty food and plenty of chocolate, what is not to love

We stopped in without a reservation the night before Thanksgiving. We had about a 30 minute wait for a table. They were packed and remained so. Our meals were really good. We had churro fondue, which was also very good. Our server was awesome, friendly and attentive, hard given how busy the restaurant was. I recommend setting a reservation if you don't want to wait. Everything was good and fun to be there.

This was one of the must visit places on our trip. Its was crowded and somewhat overpriced for what it was. But the fondue platter was pretty good. Just wish we had better options on what came on it.

thank u so so much. not only was the service great, the food was PERFECT. simple, beautiful flavours, absolutely delicious, and that’s before i get to the chocolate!! everyone who goes to new york needs to come here. it is amazing. our waitress was brittney k and she was wonderful x

Dinner with the family here was a treat. Drinks for the adults and hot chocolate for the kids to start. We sat upstairs and that was less crowded. Dinner was really good and dessert was, well, very much worth it. I would definitely recommend reservations.

My daughter turned 14. More than anything she wanted to go back to Max Brenners like she did on her 12th birthday. Last time, it was just the two of us. This time we were in NY, from Florida, for NY fashion week. She had a long day of 5 fashion shows and was so excited to celebrate her birthday with some of her model friends. There was 10 of us. The food was excellent. Then came time for the bill. We requested 3 separate bills. The server said “I can’t do separate checks. Use your calculator and figure it out yourself!” That was word for word what she said. She argued for at least 20 minutes about that and said we are the first customer in 14 years to ever question this and wanted to know why we can’t just use our calculator and figure it out because that’s what calculators are for. The bill was over $400. We spoke to the manager, he was no help either. The other two groups with us have the server their credit cards and told her how much to charge it. The server then told us that we have to pay the rest. I grabbed my purse to hand her my credit card but the server had left and didn’t come back for over 30 minutes just to be spiteful. When she came back. She passed our table and visited a several tables before coming and taking our card. She didn’t bring it back for a while again. We will never be back! The food was A+. The service was as bad as it gets, F-

Worst lunch experience so far in NYC... We've visited Max Brenner for either breakfast, brunch or lunch many times before but today's going to be our last visit.... 40mins waiting for a lemon herb chicken when other order was waiting to be served so then it didn't arrived as expected, fries were cold. Excuses and apologies but that's about it.

I had been to this Max Brenner ages ago on my first trip into NYC. It used to have a vat of chocolate being stirred in it but that’s gone now, as most locations of this famed chocolate shop are. They still have a chocolate predominant menu. My friends and I ordered the chocolate martini and the mocha madness cocktails. We also ordered the half chocolate pizza with the works. We had previously been eating all day so this was fairly late dessert for us. The service was not that great but we made due. Originally, we had a reservation for 8 people but it dwindled to 4. Unfortunately, when we checked in, there were just 2 and they would not seat us until the entire party was there. Really? But, I digress. Our server was great until she had to go home and was replaced by another girl who wasn’t as stellar. Our other friends showed up and one of them ordered a steak off of the menu. Yes, they serve real food in addition to copious amounts of chocolate. We paid in cash at the table.

For the past ten years, Max Brenner has been one of my fav places to go when in NYC. It is always on my "must" list. This time felt different, though, and I left feeling substantially disappointed. First, we've always enjoyed the food in addition to the dessert. And one of my absolute favorite dishes was the cheesesteak waffle sandwich. It left the menu for quite a while, but they'd brought it back and I was excited! However, they should have left it off - the meat was hardly recognizable as beef (still not completely convinced it was), the waffles too thick for a sandwich, and the cheese sauce a far cry from the past deliciousness. I ate probably 1/3 of it (which was frustrating given the high cost of this sandwich). For dessert, I chose my fav, the banana hazelnut crepe, and prayed it had not changed. Thankfully, it hadn't and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So, I think going forward we'll go only for dessert (and recommend others do so as well) and skip the rest of the meal here. Also, we were really disappointed in our waiter who never made eye contact with us and spoke in a low tone of voice (in a loud restaurant) and seemed as if we were an imposition. But it did not appear that other wait staff was the same (from observation) so we won't hold this against the restaurant as it doesn't seem to be their fault.

A fantastic place to visit if you love chocolate. The Italian thick hot chocolate was especially amazing. The desserts are huge, we had one between 2 and didn’t finish. We sat at the bar and watched the staff make the drinks and desserts which added some theatre too. Only negative would be that the staff weren’t very friendly

We were visiting NYC this last weekend and so excited to try this place that we built a day around getting there. Place was full but we were greeted by staff and told it would be 10m for a table. We opted for counter seating instead since they said it would be faster. We waited 30m and no one came over so we told front staff again who went to get our waiter. We was friendly but to,d us to wait for him and he would be right back. It was another 15m and we gave him our order for chocolate pizza and drinks. Then we waited another hour and still no drinks. We would have walked out BUT my kids wanted to stay so we went in search of our server. He appeared to spend much of his time at the computer placing orders and little at our area or his other tables. A runner bought our pizza and still no drinks. Now we are there almost 2 hrs which is ridiculous. He says he was waiting for my decaf coffee to brew..which doesn’t take an hour and what About bringing the other drinks. Finally we get everything and tell him we want the check since we know it will be a wait. It comes 20m later and then we wait again for him to return to take it. We walk it over to the back of the restaurant where he is still standing. After 40m he brings it but we had noticed a mix up with the check at another tab,d and he is frazzled. We ask if there is an issue with our check and he admits that he rung another tables check and ours withmy credit card. Ok so he credited out the mistaken $100 right?? Well no I’m fact he doesn’t know how and wasn’t going to tell us unless I asked. Now my family has left and gone to get our train which I have missed waiting to pay. I ask him for a manager. Another 10m lasses and I young team lead brings me the credit slip and I explain the long wait. No apology no this is on the house just I’ll tell my ,amateur as the server is new. Drinks were good, chocolate pizza was good but crust tasted prepached or frozen. Def not woth3 hrs of our 48 hrs in NYC, I would go somewhere else!

What a chocolate fix pre theater this is the place! Great hot chocolate! Try the praline and milk chocolate squares. The broadway location.

besides chocolate, the lunch menu is very nice. Burgers, pasta, pizza. all was very tasteful. Staff (Sean) was very friendly and helpful. we finished lunch with crepes with chocolate.

I’m not usually a hot chocolate drinker, but I was so cold and had heard good things about Max Brenner chocolate, so I gave it a try. And it was sooooo good! Most hot chocolates are cloyingly sweet, which is the main reason I don’t like them - I feel like I have a thick coat of sugar on my teeth after drinking them. Not this one! It was perfect - a nice, rich chocolate flavor without the sweetness - and the added marshmallow on top made it a little frothy and fun. Yes, it’s a little pricey, but it is NYC Times Square so you have to expect it. I’ll definitely buy this hot chocolate again!

Excellent hot chocolate, interesting very chocolately tiramisu in a hard to eat from container. The place is loud, attentive waiter. Beverage was served quite a bit before the tiramisu, poor coordination.

superb food and unbelievable dessetrs. we had gone to usa in june 2018 and made sure we would have dinner over there. we went there twice in 5 days.

I was in the city again with my grandkids and they insisted we go here since they ate here the last time and loved it. Well, we all loved it again!!! Food and desserts were great. Service was also good. I'm a chocoholic and this place resolves that issue! My only 'complaint' is that it's a little expensive!

Walking in is any chocolate lovers dream....seeing chocolate churning was just amazing. Our waiter was amazing, the food was great the atmosphere was so relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

There’s always a first and we all ❤️ their hot chocolate and Roberto teaching us the proper way how to hold the mug . Foods and desserts gave them 5. However I gave them 4 because I really like to eat a restaurant who can maintain their restroom clean and sanitary

came here for desert but then saw the menu....I have the philli steak waffles. One of the best things I ate in NY. Also had hot chocolate and a chocolate injection but wish I only picked one as I felt sick afterwards! Service was good and they were friendly.

Went to this restaurant after had ut recommended to me by a really good friend as doing amazing desserts, we were not diaappointed. They were to die for, what did let it down was the service. Waitress appeared rude and service was slow as drinks sat waiting to be brought over for over 5 minutes and it wasnt that busy. She also appeared to be regurgitating a corporate script. No personal touch, which is a shame.

I'm not a chocolate dude, so I was a bit hesitant, but my wife is a chocoholic so we stopped in on a rainy Friday afternoon. What a great treat. Very European looking with really good service. I had a glass of wine and an order of onion rings, with a dark chocolate ranch dipping sauce. Nice!!!! My wife had a Belgian hot chocolate concoction which was absolutely delicious too. We were told that the burgers are excellent. We saw a few of them go by and they certainly looked good. Great place right off Union Square, after a day of shopping at the open air market, TJ's and The Strand.

I always split my meal with whatever friend is with me here so we can have plenty of room for dessert! I'm a chocoholic and love this place! But, I also love their food that I have before dessert! It's all good and we had a great waiter who 'hurried up' our lunch since we were a little rushed for time.

When in New York I visit every time. Be prepared for a short wait. Big bustling place with plenty of seating.Excellent service. Tried the Chocolate Martini earlier. This time the Chocolate Margarita. Great stuff. Dinner get Pasta, Burgers but better save up for the Dessert!!!The Crepes, the Chocolate dishes..pick your poison. This is truly the "Chocolate to die for" place. They sell Chocolate covered pecans, almonds etc. Pick them while you wait to be seated.

Visiting NYC also calls for a visit (or 2) to this fine place. The dishes are so unique and their chocolate is delicious. I think my wife comes to the city just for this place.

We shared a "sharing fondue" when we visited here. It wasn't bad, but not the best fondue I have had. While melted just fine, the chocolate was not warm after dipping our goodies in it to eat. It came with a little marshmellow roasting fire, but the flame on that got a little too big for our comfort, so we sent that away. The chocolate cheesecake crepe was WAYYY too sweet, but the waffle was yummy! My friend had the white chocolate chai and said it was fantastic. I didn't feel like the service was anything special. We had to flag down our waitress because she didn't stop by regularly.

Went there on a request from my boyfriend. Ordered appetizers bbq wings and waffle fries. Wings(most)were raw and the waffle fries were good(can’t really mess up a fried potato). Needless to say no entrees were ordered. Waiter was nice enough to apologize and asked if we would like something else... We both had shakes;he the espresso and I had the Nutella. They were so YUMMY. Although bad experience food wise,I’d still go back for a shake.

Went for my grandsons birthday. The waffle sandwiches were not great. Don’t get the meat one. The salads were decent - $4 extra for a few pieces of chicken was not worth it. The dark chocolate balsamic dressing was good. The salmon dish was fair. Go for dessert, not a meal. Desserts are decent but way over priced. Nice for a one time visit. Would I go again - NO.

Staff was inattentive. Had to wait about 15 minutes for drinks and water refills the food was below average. Our waiter pretty much stopped coming by

Our kids love getting food here, as well as chocolate desserts and frozen lemonade. The frozen lemonade with a dash of passion fruit is amazing!

Within a month I have been there 2 times and both were amazing experiences. Service, food, space, everything is so fine but of course that the star is the hot chocolate, and there are so many option that you can’t even decide which one to order. All of them are delicious.

On a recent visit to Max Brenner’s we had the Mac and cheese and the lemon chicken, both dishes we delicious and well prepared but we went for the dessert! All around us were couples and families enjoying the chocolate fondue. We chose the signature chocolate martini and it was amazing! The food is amazing and the destination is so cool. Of course we had to shop and take some chocolates home. We will be back.

This particular chain of stores is known for the delicious chocolates it offers! We got a hot chocolate in a marshmallow drink and it was really great! Plus the very friendly employee who suggested us points inside the store to take photos with the product. Finally, the price was somewhat stained but for once definitely worth it. I strongly recommend it!

The food is nothing but ordinary, and I was expecting that, but thought the desserts were going to be amazing.., they were not. The service was really bad, the waitress was nowhere to be found when we wanted something else. Also, she brought the wrong dessert, not the one we ordered. We sent it back and asked they didnt make a new one (we were full). She suggested some chocolate dessert for the kids that I thought were going to be on the house for the mistakes, but they were not! Also, she brought the wrong check. At the end, we wanted tk use the restroom, but they were ALL temporarily closed! Really? A restaurant this famous without restrooms for costumers? So dissapointed!!! Will never be back and will never recommend to anyone.

This was a delicious find near Times Square. We came after the 9/11 musuem and needed a pick me up. The food was so good! We started with quesadillas and then had the fondue mix: strawberries, marshmallow, bananas. We also had a sundae. Worth the visit!

First time here and the food was good. Mocha drink was wonderful and the kids loved their desserts. What ruined the experience was the rude hostess/seater who refused our request to sit at a quieter, less crowded table nearby (which remained empty until we left). Our reservation was honored on time, but we were at a table that was so close to the next one that only small children could sit on that side of the table. Such a disappointment to encounter such unaccommodating staff.

I love this place !!! With the cold of New York it is ideal for a hot chocolate with something sweet and delicious to accompany it!! Lots of people although the place is big

This was my second time eating at Max Brenner, the first being a few years ago with my family. Back then, we found it touristy, but still well done with decent food quality, amazing desserts, but worth the high price for a splurge while in NYC. Man have things changed in 2 years. This time I visited with a friend visiting from China who loves chocolate, so I figured this could be a fun touristy choice. Making reservations online is easy, but doesn't mean you'll get seated right away. We had to wait another 15 minutes for our table. This restaurant is LOUD and crowded. Don't go for an intimate dinner. It's more of a spectacle. The food menu is actually basic with burgers, salads, and some meat dishes. My friend and I both had burgers, one meat and one veggie. He had the hot chocolate to drink which he said was tasty but nothing super special. The service was really terrible. Our server was friendly, but once the food came we weren't offered water, checked on, or asked if we needed another cocktail or beer. And flagging someone down was hard. The food was actually so bad that we decided to skip dessert which is the main reason we came there! My veggie burger was soft and tasteless. The side of fries tasted like the bake at home kind. It's such a shame, but I can not recommend this place anymore and will not be coming back. There are much better places in NYC for an amazing dessert so go there and get some better food too!

So glad we stopped in here! I was expecting so-so food with a chocolate "gimmick", but I was so wrong!! The food was fantastic! So good, we came back for brunch. The staff were also very attentive and ...KIND (wait, I thought this was New York City....they were Mid-west nice!) I will be coming here every time I'm in NYC.

The Churro Taco and the Bananas Gone Crazy drinks were the fav in our group. Pricey menu but such a unique place and servers were so friendly. They patiently talked to my daughter about which items could be made without risk of cross contamination. Heaven On Earth!!!

Pretty much a novelty stop. I am thinking if you love a super dessert treat, this is absolutely the place for you. The brunch menu does have a little something for everyone but the meals themselves are pretty gratuitous. The Max Benedict was something I looked forward to when I made the reservation but came out cold and the crispy waffle was honestly just too much. The chocolate milk served in the Alice glass was tasty and the frothed milk served with coffee was a nice touch but I was overall just underwhelmed.

We stopped off for some chocolate cocktails ! We didn’t eat so can’t comment on food . Service was good drinks nice but a bit sickly .

We brought our 9 year old here on her first trip to NYC. We took the 6 train from the Palace hotel and it was a breeze. This place is in Union Square which is not on a super touristy place. So you gotta seek it out. I would not just show up without a reservation. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but the place was busy on a Saturday night before a show. Now to the menu. Kid friendly options and vegetarian friendly as well. If I had one specific recommendation it would be the Max Hattan cocktail. Tasted like magic. The fondue was a blast for kids. All around it was a super meal.

Not that many options in terms of meals, but lots of dessert options. I had the burger and it was actually veryyy good. The waffle fries were great too. They are known for their shakes which I am sure are amazing but I was so full i did not have room for dessert. Next time! It's a little pricey but it's a chain and it's a nice spot.

How can anyone not love it here, hot chocolate to die for, thick italian chocolate has to be the one to go for.

Went here at the request of the youngest member of our group. Made reservations weeks in advance. Glad we did. Restaurant was crowded. Seated on time. Menu was overwhelming. Started our meal with two of the Sharing Fondues for our group of 9. We all enjoyed it. Ordered several different entrees but we all agreed the chocolate cheesecake crepe on the fondue tray was the best.

I went today with my family for dessert after dinner as I have visited the place before and thought it would be an enjoyable experience for the kids. We get there and because there are 5 of us. Now when we walked in, there was a gentleman and a lady hosts, so the lady spoke to us first and then the gentleman was the one who told us to wait, either in the waiting area or by the merch. So we browsed a little bit then sat down waiting. Then I noticed that a large party arrived after us and entered, so I went up to the hostess, Olga, and asked her if there was anything. She said I hadn’t spoken to her in particular, and when I insisted I did, she was somewhat lashing out. Then she seated us and we got our waitress. My only comment about the waitress’ service is that she was a bit reluctant to answer our questions, but in general, the dessert was amazing and the order didn’t take long to get ready. However, and to be honest, the hostess had already ruined the mood, so i went and spoke to her and told her that I didn’t want to keep it in and that I wanted to let her know that I felt that she was rude earlier, and she said that I “came at her” although she was busy on the phone. Let’s say I made a mistake with identifying the hostess, it definitely was not personal and for someone who works in customer service, they have to be mindful that they are representing the place that they are working for and have to focus on the customer experience, the mood of which was totally ruined for me. To make it worse, she did not even apologize for the mix up, as no one paid attention to us or put our name down, and didn’t apologize for the wait. When I said that I felt that she should have apologized, she said that she didn’t, which had only reiterated the rudeness to be honest. Hosts in general are the first thing you see when you walk into a place and having experienced what we did, I am super disappointed. Had the food not been great, the rating would have definitely been lower.

The ambiance was five stars, the food was five stars, the service STUNK. Our waiter was not rude, but didn’t know what the heck was going on. We had to ask him repeatedly for water, silverware, plates for the appetizers. He didn’t return at all, not even once to see if we needed a refill on drinks or if everything was acceptable. The manager was nowhere to be seen The only competent person there was the hostess, a young lady with purple hair and huge platform boots, who commanded her post impeccably I will probably be back, but not on a holiday. Today I didn’t complain, because of the ocasion, and the fact that it was Christmas Eve. On an ordinary day, I’d have requested to speak to the manager

Heaven for chocolate lovers. Stays busy all day. A visual treat for the eyes. A large variety of items to choose from. Try the dark hot chocolate for a warm "hug".

The hot chocolate is worth the trip to Max Brenner :) We will sit at the counter and enjoy. We never had a meal there, but the dishes look appetizing. Lines are looong, though.

This place has the most sweets to satisfy your sweet tooth - from pre-dinner drinks to dessert. The entrees were also great. Definitely recommend stopping in. It is pretty busy so think about making a reservation to decrease your wait time.

It is worth the effort to enjoy the exquisite delight the this place gives your taste buds. Is it off the beaten path? Yeah, it was for us. Do you need reservations or the willingness to stand in line for a while because they are busy? Yup. Is it a bit crazy? Yes. But DO IT!!! Go! We went here specifically for dessert and the Italian Thick Hot Chocolate and were not disappointed. I think we left in a chocolate coma, and were all smiles as we walked out the doors. Get the Italian Thick Hot Chocolate. It is what I think the chocolate river in Willy Wonka would taste like. Like Augustus Gloomp, I could fall into it and keep smiling. I've had the milk and white chocolate versions, and both are great. Do the fondue. We got one of the "sharing" ones with two chocolates and our own little "fire" to roast marshmallows. How fun is that??? More fun than we anticipated. It came with our choice of chocolates, marshmallows, a chocolate crepe, strawberries, chocolate brownie pieces, and some other morsels for dipping. It was a fun experience, and I wish there was a Max Brenner in Chicago so I could do it again sooner. The young ladies seating everyone were awesome and treated people graciously. We had a great waitress who was fun and took great care of us. I was impressed by the young man who brought out a chair and offered it to me to sit on while we were waiting - I must have looked as tired as I felt. The only minus is that they really need to do a better job keeping their restrooms clean; they were rather disgusting and disappointing. Overall, this is one of my favorite places in NYC!!!!

Our friend was touring us around Manhattan and we stopped in here to rest our feet and get a snack. Two us had different kinds of hot chocolate and my wife had a chocolate ganache drink. All were very good and well presented. Lovely chocolate flavour. Your choice of light, dark, or white chocolate.Good service. Pricey but this is Manhattan. They have a full lunch menu as well as dessert/drink menu and also sell chocolates. The desserts looked pricey and we saw some huge ones come out. I bet they are good. What's not to like its everything chocolate. It is quite a large restaurant and we didn't have to wait at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Service was very good as well. Located down by Strand Books on the east side near 14th street. We are glad we stopped in and tried it.

We were in NYC to celebrate my son's 14th birthday and were looking for a unique restaurant experience that would not break the bank. He loves chocolate, so Max Brenner's fit the bill. T We went there for dinner, but the biggest selling point in the the extensive desert menu. We were a relatively large group of nine, so I made a reservation to ensure we did not have have to wait too long. Fortunately, we were seated relatively quickly upon our arrival. Overall. the food is OK but there is nothing special about it. The service was just OK as well. We ordered the chocolate fondue for desert for the table. It included three types of chocolate was enjoyed by all. My son ordered a Churro-Taco waffle which he loved. They put a sparkler on it and sung happy birthday when it arrived. Since this was a special occasion, we may not go back. However, we enjoyed our visit. If you like quiet restaurants, this is not the place for you. It is quite loud.

This is the 5th and last time we will ever come to Max Brenners. We ordered starters to have before our mains, literally within 1 minute of the starters arriving our mains arrived!! The server said “sorry the kitchen are pushing them out tonight”. We had no time to eat our starters so my husband and daughter were rushing their food to try to stop it going cold and in the end could not eat it all. We raised this with the server who said that doesn’t normally happen and apologised. When it came to paying the bill we were shocked to see we were still being charged for the starters. When we raised this with the server he said “ well you’ve eaten lots of it haven’t you”. We spoke to the manager who had the same attitude. In the U.K. this would not have happened you wouldn’t even have to ask to not pay for them they would have said themselves “we are so sorry we will not charge you for those”. The attitude of the manager was not good, he completely missed the point. We are big tippers, we don’t usually even ever complain but this was totally unacceptable and the attitude of the manager just was the icing on the cake. Oh and to add to this the toilets were unclean and had no toilet roll…… Sort out your customer service Max Brenner ….

This place has gone so far down hill it’s embarrassing. Used to go for the amazing food and fun of all the dishes with chocolate on the side, but the state of the food was awful - to the point where we couldn’t even identify some of our plates. And there was no chocolate to be seen. The waffles were pathetic. To be fair our server was very nice and tried his best but seemed overwhelmed at this busy festive time so in general it was painfully slow and lax. Our dishes and drinks were practically thrown at us. Used to be fun and delicious, now just sad and grim. And expensive!

This place serves best hot chocolate in cute cups, delicious chocolate pizza and basically everything with chocolate is very tasty and presentable in this establishment. It was nosy so would not call the place romantic, I would call this place family-friends oriented. Everyone has smiles on their faces and why would not they have after all you eat and drink quality chocolate.

The desserts are amazing and the food isn’t bad either. Went 3 times and service the first time was excellent but unfortunately the next visits had so so service

Went for brunch. Kids loved it, adults also. Nice menu. Plenty of delicious chocolate choices. Wonderful gift shop. Reservations helpful

My friend had come from the west coast and she was really excited about this max Brenner. This is not widely spread throughout the country and in the USA, only NYC-Boston and Phili have this outlet. I live in NJ and come to NYC so often but never heard of this restaurant ( I am not chocolate lover) so plz spare me :P It was the 31st night. We came here for desserts and we realized we should have made our reservation. It was 1.5 hrs. waiting. We were 6 folks and could not get a table. We got the mini table Near to take away counter, but that was not enough. Anyway, we managed somehow to grab seats together. We ordered three types of their famous hot chocolates ( $6 each) Hazelnut Marshmallow And Classic one. And we also ordered Waffle celebration (your choice of 3 waffles from the menu). My friends – they really liked it. Superb… ( me- don’t ask. Why I found the taste same like Dunkin hot chocolate… Hyped?? Sorry folks, plz don’t come after me). I liked Godiva chocolate shakes tastier which is on 5th avenue. They also have merchandise section. I bought their famous hug mug for my wife which was really cute. You can buy coffee power and various other things. They do have lunch and dinner menu but make sure you make a reservation. Its always crowded and there is always waiting

They also have actual food besides chocolate. My wife had the Caprese Chicken Sandwich and I had the Lemon Herb Chicken. We also shared Max's Cocoa Spiced Waffle Fries. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted really good. For dessert, we had the Crystal Churros Fondue. What I really like about them (besides the food and the chocolate) is that they clearly list if something is Vegan or has nuts, something a lot of places do not do. I am REALLY glad we came here.

We rang in the new year while having dinner there. The place was awesome, and the food was spectacular. We have been there numerous times and never a bad meal.

We were recommended Max Brenner by some friends. I thought that its specialty was chocolate and sweets (that were amazing by the way), but was pleasantly surprised by the salty food. We asked for some flat bread pizzas and quesadillas and both were remarkably good. Of course we had to finish the lunch with some very chocolate-sweet treat, that more than exceeded our expectations.

Desserts were amazing. Had the chocolate pizza. Basically a giant smore which tasted amazing. Also had the salted caramel milkshake which was excellent. The only problem was the service was slow, albeit the restaurant was quite crowded. But still they were slow to take our order and slow to deliver the food. Waited a good 20-30 minutes for the dessert.

This is a theme restaurant, so I think folks should manage their expectations. I took my two teenage sons here after a late show - sitting down to dinner around 11PM. When we arrived we were quoted a 45-min wait, and like clockwork, we were sat on time. Our server was efficient and calm, and extremely professional. My older son and I had pasta dishes, and they were perfectly fine. Could. you get better in NY? Sure. But you go to Max's for chocolate. My younger son ordered a milkshake (perfection), half of a dessert pizza (I talked him down from a full size one) and the chocolate dessert. I thought the cake was out of this world, but it was slightly adult for a 15-year old. Go, have fun, and don't take it so serious!

We had a great time! Get the coco! Its a nice sober thing to do! The line can get long, but there are things to do in the area.

We decided to go here even though none of our friends or family had heard of it. It sounded wonderful since I'm a chocoholic! We started out sharing a BBQ chicken flatbread which was just okay. They definitely focus more on their chocolate dishes. We ordered the sharing fondue which was more than the two of us could eat. You had your choice of 2 of 3 chocolates - white, milk or dark. It was fun toasting the marshmallows over the flame and then dipping in chocolate. We also bought some chocolate "marbles" to take home. They had free samples and were really good. This was definitely a fun place to visit!

The pop up shop in Bryant Park for the Holiday season was wonderful. It was crowded but the line moved quickly. The focus was the chocolate, specially the thick hot chocolate with the homemade marshmallow. Delicious!

I had read reviews on this restaurant, however they had a pop up at the Bryant Park Christmas festival. It was the creamest drink I have ever drank. It wasn't too hot. The size was reasonable and the price was on par. However, the long line was annoyinig, but it was so worth the wait. GOOOOOOOOOO try it!

Horrible customer service and experience and we were only 10 minutes in. My wife and I walked in with both of our cellphones with a dead battery…. Since we couldnt scan the QR code for the menu we requested a table with a charger up close. They moved us to a table with wall chargers close, after we sat the manager moved us froM that table saying we were NOT allowed to charge our phones in the restaurants normal power outlets there as per company policy.. we had to use the chargers the place provided/rented to the customers (which is understandable) so they moved us to the front of the restaurant and pointed to the RENTAL CHARGERS…. Yes… they charge $1 per hour to charge your phone, which is ok i get it but to actually pay for the charger you need to SCAN another QR code to release the charger but HOW DO YOU DO THAT WITH 2 Dead phones?! So i told the waiter we couldnt scan to pay for the charger so she said she would again talk to the manager….. a couple of minutes later she returned saying that the manager agreed to let us charge ONLY ONE PHONE (as if it were a priviledge and a favor; not a service to a paying customer) up to the minimal amount so we could THEN scan and rent the in house chargers and THEN we could charge our phones and THEN we could scan the menu QR code… all that just to sit and place our order….. This is BS….. they really wanted us to pay $1 to charge our phones and they made it so burocatric that they lost a $100 dollar tap by trying to force us into a miserable $1 phone charge rental…. Great job from the red haired lady manager…. Lost a $100 dollar table over 2 minutes of letting a customer charge their phones in a normal putlet just by wanting to charge a customer $1 for a BS rental and making it seem like it was a favor…. By the way #saltbae was a lot better dinner that same night and they DID let us charge our phones for free at our table :).

Called in for a late night hot chocolate after show to experience the Max Hug Mug. Just a word of caution - the mugs arrive extremely hot and without a spoon, it would have been some time before you get to drink your hot chocolate. Usual excellent service and a menu which looked delicious and mad me wish I was there for a meal instead.

If You like, if You love the Chocolate, I am afraid that's Max Brenner Is Not a good place for You. The real chocolate comes from Belgium or Switzerland and Is Not a "circus", in my personal Opinión. Sorry. I Will buy a Godiva next Time.

This place is right next to the Renaissance Hotel in Times Square. Talk about chocolate- this place is delicious! Would highly recommend for all those chocolate lovers out there!

Best Hot Chocolate In NYC. Love this place. If you are ever looking to get chocolate wasted this is your place. I had a amazing time here, I would definitely recommend this place. Also the food here is really good.

We had lunch here, it wasn't too busy for a Tuesday lunchtime. We were seated right away. I shared a dish with my Mum as wanted to save space for something chocolatey for dessert! We had the lemon herb chicken which was really nice and was just enough for the two of us. I had Going Bananas cocktail and it was amazing! (see photo), the way it was served was crazy. We had the S'Mores fondue for dessert and it was really good. You get a little fire of your own to toast the marshmallows. Would definitely recommend it and will be coming again on my next visit to NY!

We went to this place after passing by it a few times, and thinking that it looked pretty interesting. Got sat for dinner, server took our order after a long time, even though the restaurant did not appear to be that busy. Ordered a spinach dip to start, and the dip came out after a long time and it was cold. When I brought it up to the server he shrugged and said "well, its not supposed to be very hot, or else you would burn yourself" WHAT? It was room temperature cold. The wings that I ate were also stale and cold, although the flavour was nice. Generally pretty inedible. My mother ordered a quinoa salad, and when it came out, we could not find any quinoa on or in it. She did not like it. My wife got a dessert that was a large chocolate cookie with ice cream, and that was ok, but nothing special that you would not get anywhere else. All in all, this was a complete dud, and I would recommend others do not waste their time here.

You were planning to take advantage of the last minute low price but could not get a ticket to the Broadway Show. Its ok You can always to the Max Brenner Coffee for some delicious chocolate options. The wait may be long. But you are bound to get some free chocolates even as you wait. The chocolate coffee is definitely worth waiting for

We made reservations here for a mid-afternoon snack. However, it wasn’t busy on the Monday afternoon we went, so we wouldn’t been able to walk right in and get a table. We had the Classic European Fondue with strawberries, bananas, marshmallows and chocolate cookies. It was fun to dip our snacks in the various sauces. I did not give this visit five stars because the restroom was a disaster. Aside from that, it was a good visit.

Amazing place. Worth knowing. There are several very interesting desserts. I will come back more often. Traveling is good, right?

We were happy that Max is open late for dinner and dessert. I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was, but everything I had was delicious. The onion rings were a highlight! The fondue too. Maybe because it was late, the staff seemed pretty lax, but our server Jessica was awesome! Attentive and friendly. I'd highly recommend her!

Large and fun restaurant in Union Square area. It's sort of walking into Willy Wonka. Sometimes the wait can be exceedingly long so be sure to make reservations or come during off-hours. Service is usually fast and friendly. I've been a few time and loved the food as well as the deserts. I've had the crepes, burgers and shashuka, which on the spicy side. A the desert are fantastic, especially the chocolate ones. At the front of the restaurant is a small boutique chelate counter for take home or gifts.

Met some girlfriends for dinner. Dinner was delicious though I wish they had chocolate infused or fun twists of cocoa for their dinner menu. Dessert was great. Had a hot chocolate that was so good! My friend ordered one that was a bit too rich but was also tasty. I think I'll go back for dessert for sure!

I stopped by to grab something to drink, and was amazed by the options given for chocolate shakes. So many selections!!

This restaurant is one of the best chocolate restaurants in the world. The waiters are on time and if you need anything they are right on it. The food is excellent especially the dessert. I thought the desserts were the best I have ever had if you like chocolate. I recommend to have a reservation because the lines can be very long.

We came here as I have been to a different branch before. We quickly got seated and our table water arrived. We were given enough time to read through the menu before our order was taken. We got 3 hot chocolates and a sharing fondue. Great size fondue and good service

I live nearby but never went. We were around 8. I had beet goat cheese salad and was delicious. We shared chocolate fondue. They are known for it so it was a must. It was good but I actually prefer the salad. We were downstairs. Nice and quiet on a weekday evening

Max Brenner Chocolate Restaurant in New York is the place to go if you love chocolate. Menu is extremely vast with all sorts of chocolate fondue, waffles, chocolate pasta to creative hot chocolate drinks. The place has also a chocolate store. Indulging experience and well recommended!

As soon as you walk in it smells delicious! We went to the one on Broadway. Unfortunately the hostess was ridiculously rude. We politely asked how long the wait was and she couldn't bother to look up from playing with her nails. She was dismissive and rude. Other than that lol...everything was decadent and delicious!

When this place opened it was probably amazing, and maybe clean. A big turn off was no soap in the bathroom. Yuck! The service was awful and slow and they didnt have things on the menu which is a huge pet peeve for me. If it is a regular everyday menu item it should be in stock. Portions were decent. But not for the price. Hot chocolate was amazing, it was like drinking a chocolate bar. The oreo hot cocoa was so good. Other food was very meh

We had lunch with my family. The food was very good, the desserts amazing, the ambiance in general very nice and hip. What made the real difference was our waiter Jason! Super nice, super polite, super professional and accommodating! We’ll definitely go back and hopefully get or ask for Jason! Ps. My 4 yrs. old grandson loved him!!

My daughter chose to eat at Max Brenners, It was fun! and the food was very good, a little pricey but not bad for NYC. We all agreed that we would return if given the chance

They have a large place, well decorated and pleasant. We ordered a couple of pizzas, a burger and a quinoa salad. All pretty good. Friendly and very attentive camera. Normal prices for the area.

Restaurant, common areas and bathrooms were grotesquely filthy. Afraid to eat. Had the worst quality milkshake. McDonalds better.

For some reason I am always hesitant to come to Max Brenner when the option is floated by a friend or family member because I don't want to get caught up in tourist nonsense. But is never as touristy as I expect. I came here on a Friday night, having hastily made a google reservation and was seated quickly. Having arrived with purpose we order our fondue and it came out within 10 minutes of ordering. After such an easy experience next time I crave chocolate I don't think I will hesitate. I would also like to add that the crepe on our fondue plate with the cheesecake filling might have been one of the best things I have ever eaten.

The name so we decided to give it a try. Menu sounded interesting but when do food came and we tasted it, straight away we knew we will come back again tomorrow! It was just pure sweet pleasure to eat and drink in the place. Christmas music was playing, hot chocolate elevated the mood. The staff was great and fast! Much recommended!

We made a reservation but when we showed up we still needed to wait another 35 mins. Our server was good and the food showed up in a timely manner. It tasted as expected. We only got one dessert which was just ok. I know they are know for their chocolate so maybe we should have ordered something else. All in all it was ok but nothing special.

We stopped for dessert after dinner elsewhere ('though I hear the food here is good too, I cannot comment on that). But skip the meal; just have dessert. If you like anything with chocolate in it, This. Is. The. Place. The hot chocolate is not sweetened milk with a little cocoa powder; it is quite literally hot chocolate. The fondu tower will bowl you over. Chocolate pizza? Yup.

Loved it! So nice and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We was shocked at how big the portion sizes were! Would recommend!

The chocolate pizza was good but too much to handle for our family of 4 - even the kids complained it's too much of chocolate. The pizza base was very good. I enjoyed the white chocolate Chai and the novelty of the brewing cup alone made the visit worthwhile. The service was very slow even though it wasn't a peak time.

Loved everything about the place- right from the amazing food/drinks to the friendly service staff. Highly recommend the hot chocolate and churros with white chocolate dip.

Really unique and delicious desserts. The location is great and lovely atmosphere. If you're a desserts lover like me then you should totally try it out.

We went mainly because we heard about the chocolate but decided to have dinner as well. We split the Pub Steak (to save room for chocolate) and it was one of the best meals we had in NYC. It had a delicious pesto butter on it and the steak was on top of a layer of colored potatoes and it was fantastic! Then on to the chocolate.... We shared the Fondue platter for 2 ( I think it was called the European) and it was perfect! You pick two chocolates and it also has caramel with marshmallows, cookies, brownies, strawberries etc to dip. So good that writing this review makes me want to go back!

It was the best. If you love chocolate, you will go wild about this restaurant. People go to BBQ's for a chaser in their drinks, but when you go to max Brenner you ask for a syringe shot. This syringe shot is good for your drink, or for a pick me up during those late nights or a ( I need a fix)😎. Love it . The best of foods and desserts. Rating A

Really enjoyed our trip to Max Brenner's for lunch. Amazingly, this time was not crowded and we got seated fast! In the past, the lobby area has been packed with people and required long wait to get in. Food was very good! Service was ok. Not thrilled with being seated very close to sick person with awful cold. And server was not very attentive. But we had a good time and will return yet again. I recommend anything chocolate or caramel.

Atmosphere is great, cool vibe. Waiter completely forgot go put our order in. Burgers were just frozen patties, not fresh hamburger. Dessert was great. Waiter couldn't find a box to bring our ticket in. We were there for 2 hours.

My son found this place wandering the city and took us here. He always gets the Italian thick in the hug mug, if you love chocolate you should get that. It was too much for me. The coffee was very good and the chai served with white chocolate was good and the brewing cup interesting. We got the strawberry crepe with Nutella and it was delicious. Service was quick and friendly.

Have heard such good things about Max Brenner’s from my brother i was so excited to eat here for dinner during our 3 night trip to NYC from England, told my husband we were going there and he had no choice :) First off the restaurant is cold, i was cold the entire meal, people were asking to move away from the doors and that still didn’t help, turn the heating on! Made for a very unpleasant meal. We ordered a burger each, was nice but nothing special. The best bit was the waffle fries. Chocolate, the reason i came! The milkshake i ordered was amazing, salted caramel, drank it way too quick - best bit of the meal. Dessert - we ordered the churro fondue, churros were so over cooked they were horrible, hard in the middle and dried out. The chocolate sauce they came with was lovely, but the raspberry sauce didn’t match. I was so annoyed i wasted one of our evenings in NY eating here

A wonderful place for chocolate lovers, with a wide selection of chocolates combined with delectable foods. I tried Mexican spicy hot chocolate, and it's unique. A spicy chocolate drink is a must-try
Great Food, Bad Slow Service
The concept behind the restaurant seemed like a good place to take the kids on our trip to NYC, so I booked a reservation. When we arrived there were not many people so I figured I didn't really need a reservation, but it did get busier. The reason for the aforementioned statement is, the place was not busy and it took forever for our waiter to take our order. I also noticed that they kept trying to deliver food to the incorrect tables (ours included). We were in the restaurant for 2 hours! Now if it wasn't for the food being so awesome I would have given a lower rating. My wife had the Caprese Chicken Sandwich and I had the Brenner burger. They were both excellent. The desert though is the reason to visit. We had the Spectacular Melting Chocolate Smores Sunday and the Chocolate Chunks Pizza. We loved them both including the kiddos. So this place has great food all around, but you may want to just stop for dessert if the service is going to be so slow.
