Everything was amazing!!! Our server Derek was super sweet and he went above and beyond to accommodate us. Management and the whole staff was friendly and welcoming. Food: The glazed cod was my favorite along with the sweet potato ravioli!!! Specialty drinks were on point. Salmon tacos & tuna tartare were so cute and delicious. We also had the sushi which was fantastic and the flaming steak was a beautiful presentation and delicioussssssssss. Will be back soon for sure. Also, make sure to get the Bronuts for dessert!!

Amazing ambience with professional staff. I loved the food and drinks. Thank you again for a great night. My friends loved it too.

Went out for dinner and drinks at Megu last night and had the very best time! Cool atmosphere, amazing service, and great food. Definitely one of my new nyc favs. We’ll be back very soon, Megu!

Had a great date night with my girlfriend at Megu. It was packed with a good looking crowd. Luckily Celia was able to seat us at a fantastic bar table. Tried a few starters, all were tasty: the Crispy Rock Shrimp, Crispy Tuna Tartare and Edamame Lollipops. For entrées, Miso Black Cod and the Ribeye, prepared table-side flambé on hot stone, which was super unique and delicious. Drank a lot of wine and ended by splitting the Matcha Green Tea Cake for dessert. Great place for food and a good time with a hot vibe. Highly recommended especially for a special occasion or groups.

Great food service and ambiance. Everyone was super polite. I had the lobster and my girlfriend had the sashimi. We also shared edamame and soup. Everything was delicious.

Came here thinking I was going to be eating sushi and turns out I ordered 2 steaks after seeing the people next to me order them. Looking forward to coming back here for the sushi .

I was really impressed by the quality of the food. Not only this restaurant is ideally placed in meatpacking for the start of a great night out but also the food tastes really good. I highly recommend but also recommend to book in advance.

Service: everything was good from the moment we walked in. Hostess was very friendly and helpful. Server was great and he was able to give us some recommendations on drinks and food Food: beyond expectations. The appetizers were great and very well presented. The Tina tartar really caught my attention. It's served in small ice cream cones. The octopuses was also very good. The two sushi rolls we had were excellent. And the best part of our evening was the stake. Ambience: good nyc scene crowd. nice decorations. I will definitely come back here for drinks. They have a great tequila drink on the menu

A dark restaurant placed in the basement of Dream Downtown Hotel. Service was excellent, waiters were attentive, wine glasses always full, and the food was good, nothing out of the ordinary, so a bit too expensive. A bit young clientele, which for us (35+) made it not quite the place for us.

You have to get the donuts! They are so good and fluffy! I wasn't expecting the best donuts of my life at such a hip and asian themed restaurant.

I had gone to the Tribeca location countless times in the past. I was disappointed when the restaurant closed, but excited to check out the new space when Megu reopened in the Meatpacking. I called to make a reservation and spoke to Kiki- she had such a lovely personality and disposition, I got a very positive feeling right away. When I arrived at the restaurant I was warmly greeted and went to the bar to have a drink with my girlfriend. The bartender was attentive and the drinks were very satisfying...the great happy hour prices didn't hurt. The manager Eric came right over and introduced himself and made us feel right at home. We ordered several rolls and sashimi and loved every bite. The space is very different than the old Megu, but just as fabulous...we will be returning soon!

The fantastic ambiance and delicious fare lived up to the hype! Will certainly be back as a repeat customer on my next trip, and will recommend Megu to those looking for a stellar dining experience.

Loved this place! Food and drinks were excellent, service was top notch, ambience is perfect for a night out on the town in NYC.. I came here to show friends from oversees a fun NYC night and Megu seemed like a the perfect fun new hotspot to check out. From the moment we walked through the doors into the grand entranceway our expectations were far exceeded! The restaurant did a great job of accommodating our large party and even sent out some of their delicious edamame lollipop appetizers while we waited for our table to be set (they are a MUST TRY). The cocktails were inventive and delicious! Dinner was fantastic! Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. He even adjusted all of our orders to accommodate the entire table. The manager came by to introduce himself and make sure we were enjoying everything (which we absolutely were!). I highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back!!

Megu has the best Japanese cuisine I've ever had. Their sushi is exquisite and delicious! I definitely will return. Great food and great service!

We went during restaurant week. They couldn't turn tables fast enough and get rid of us. The main course arrived while we were finishing the appetizer, dessert arrived during the main course. They tried to charge us more for a bottle of wine than it was supposed to be. And when the check arrived the waitress told us they couldn't take more than 3 credit cards (there were 5 of us). When we told her we didn't have cash she said "why don't you Venmo each other!" And the food wasn't even that great. Portions were ridiculously small. Terrible experience.

Nattily dressed patrons and friendly bar staff making interesting and tasty drinks definitely make this a place to check out. Okay food and sushi that appeared (maybe a little too quickly), give pause as to the quality of the preparation. Try the asparagus, a drink and then grab dinner elsewhere. If you read my reviews, you will know that for sushi or a raw bar, the "Lobster Place" or "Cull and Pistol" (next door to each other) in the Chelsea Market and sure winners.

Best new restaurant in NYC by far! The food and ambiance are incredible. Would recommend going there for any occasion. Service is great too. Favorite drink: Buddha's delight! Favorite dish: Ribeye! Can't wait to go back!

awesome music!!! awesome food!!! awesome people!!! awesome energy!!!! was with my wife and another couple. Had a great time. This place is going to stay popular for atleast the next few years!!

We went there as a big group tonight. The food is not traditional Japanese or Korean. The restaurant tried to make it a bit different. I am not sure if I like it. The Korean rice is okay. The shrimp tempura is okay. The crepe cake is also just okay. The chicken is quite tender. However, nothing is too exciting for me.

Waited 1,5 hours to get OUR BOOKED table... have fun.. didn’t even care about us or anything.. the food is good but weird service.

Went to Megu for my 5th anniversary and had the best night! The drinks were perfect, food was delicious, sushi was fresh, and loved the bronuts dessert!! We had a great time and can't wait to go back and try more stuff on the menu!

The food was delicious! Everything was decadent. The food preperation was nothing like I ever experienced. Very Instagramworthy :-) I would definitely come again!

If you are interested to drink with friends before hang out it is a good place However, the food is quit average there and very expensive Had to leave in an hour as all we took was tasteless and we decided to have a desert in another place

Went for a birthday dinner, they took such great care of our group. The food was delicious, my favorites were the Waygu Steak, the Short Ribs and the Rock Shrimp... Oh and I can't forget the Salmon Nori. It was so fresh Beautiful room, impeccable service and amazing food. 5 Star experience

The walk down the steep stairs throws you off a bit, but once you get in the night begins. You are escorted to a raw oyster bar area which is interesting and different. For some reason it doesn't quite fit in with the restaurant concept. The food was creative and good but for the price we expected more. The most creative dish we found was the sushi roll with gold flakes. It was good, but again we were disappointed. The chocolate dessert though made up for the lack of enthusiasm for some of the dishes. The restaurant has a nightclub vibe when you walk in but there is no ambience to make you want to hang out at the bar. Instead we walked over to Tao.

The most imaginative Japanese menu I have ever experienced... the food stunningly delicious ... presentation superb.. atmosphere very cool and relaxed ... staff extremely courteous...the food leaves you with a delicious taste in your mouth.. our favourite crispy asparagus and edamame lollipops... loved it all

Best new restaurant in Manhattan!!! Staff could not be more accommodating, the decor is beautiful and the fish is fresh!!

The spicy cheese dumplings and crispy brussel sprouts are to die for. Very classy, intimate, and elegant restaurant. Waiters and staff are highly trained, professional, and have great mannerism. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to dine out.

I had a wonderful time and the food was excellent! Great service and awesome vibe, and the DJ was really good too

Best sushi place i've been in a long time! Good service, good food, good location and good atmosphere! Really original plates served in a very special way! Loved it!

Megu is always well prepared and nicely presented, and they provide excellent service in the restaurant, I feel like the sushi here has better portions than other restaurants in the area and it’s always fresh and well-prepared as well as reasonably priced. I have never had a negative interaction with a server and I’ve been here at least a half of dozen times – everybody is friendly and attentive.

I am not a fan of Sushi, but my dinner guests are. We settled on Megu because of their selection of Sushi and cooked options. It was a great choice! My friends loved their Sushi and my Short Ribs were delicious. Excellent service and lovely ambiance. I will be back.

Appropriately located in the "Dream" hotel; I would describe this place as heavenly. The dishes were on point, service was impeccable, and the overall experience was ethereal. Glad I found this gem and I will without a doubt treat it as a second home and invite those close to me to do the same. Very impressed, 5 Stars All Around!!!

Had one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Service was outstanding, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I had a fun time at Megu! We ordered a few beers, the salmon tacos and shared the A5 wage steak. The food was really good. Very cool/hip crowd.

We were sat pre-show without a reservation without an attitude. Cool decor. Fantastic server Anna. Excellent drink menu; we liked Hakatsuru Nigori Saki, Buddha's Delight, Dream and Refresh and the Signature cocktails. Best Miso soup ever! Fun lollipop presentation crispy tuna tartare (hard to eat though). Kobe carpaccio was small but excellent flavor (loved the baby mushrooms). Eggplant Robata Skewer app served on its own grill was nice! Megu Roll, Tuna Avo Roll, Dream Roll and Negitoro all amazing but of those the salmon was epic/best ever! My Seasonal Omakase Sashimi was served in a real hand carved igloo; I loved it!

A wonderful dining experience. The staff was attentive, professional and friendly. The Cod Lettuce Wrap and the Nori Salmon Belly Tacos were outstanding and probably the freshest and flavorful appetizers if had recently. The Kanzuri Shrimp were light crisp and had just the right amount of spice. I am looking forward to my next visit to Megu.

Went to Megu for a friend's birthday party. The food we very tasty. Loved the rock shrimp and a lot of the sushi rolls brought over to the table. they also have an extensive drink menu and will make you something special if you're not sure what you want (my drink had mezcal). The manager came to our table to make sure everything was right on point. The restaurant has a lounge vibe with pulsing (but not overbearing music) playing. Great place to take a large group - it can get packed, but the tables are far enough away that you don't feel you're sitting on top of one another. Cute waitstaff - which makes waiting for a drink a little less painful if it's taking longer than expected.

Fairly cool location and ambience of the the actual restaurant is nice. Food actually decent to good BUT Åse ice was seriously shoddy and average at best - serving food prior to drinks having been provided, no cutlery when food is served, unclean cups, etc., etc. absolutely no class on service which sort kids the whole experience. And on top of it all, had to wait 15 min on ore-booked table and then when finally seated we were told that we had to leave table within 1,5 hours... Seriously cannot recommend this place. If looking for Asian I'd rather recommend Tao, Buddakhan, Hakkasan or similar.

Best food I have eaten in years .. this is what I call good food. And the location is so convenient , it's in the middle of everything new York has to offer. Specially if u like to go out and party . After our dinner we walked right into a club half a block . I definitely recommend Megu.

Must place to go for Japanese cousine when you in NY! I'm very enjoying the decor at atmosphere, food and its presentation

The atmosphere and the waitering staff were faultless. However, the receptionists were not very welcoming, and neither were they particularly polite prior to our departure. We had a reservation as well as an attractive bill at the end of our meal, it was a shame that the front of house service (apart from the stylish gentlemen with long hair) let the whole experience down.

Unlike most guests that dine here, I was in a bit of a hurry one night and was dining by myself. I was able to get a seat at the sushi bar and could watch the magicians at work. The food was top notch, service was good, ambiance was perfect, and location great. I'll definitely be back.

Loved loved loved Megu! Beautiful restaurant, terrific ambiance. Service was attentive and super friendly. The food.. Delicious!! They have the best DJ on the weekends. Going back for the second time in a week.. And recommended it to everyone I know!!

After you have stumbled down the steep steps into the dark, nightclub style restaurant you are quickly parked in an area where you can grab a variety of oysters. It's an interesting concept but I'd rather just get a drink at the bar! We had a mix of appetizers including the Duck gyoza and the tuna tartare .... both good but not outstanding The sushi and rolls are again tasty but far from the best available in the city. Service was a bit mixed. No Japanese beer was available because they were 'upgrading their alcohol program' which seems a bit in incompetent. Wine by the glass is horribly expensive but fortunately the cheapest red wine is good. Prices are high overall and probably a bit beyond the quality of the food. So it's an interesting setup but overly expensive and feels like it's trying too hard to be fabulous and falling short vs the competition

Went here for drinks after walking around the meat packing district. We wish we had not eaten prior to coming because we would have loved to eat here. The drinks were great and looking at the meals and smells of those around us I can only imagine they were good as well. We plan on coming here next time for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and engaging. The staff very accommodating.

The service, location and venue were great. Very friendly staff. Went with a group of friends and it was a cool venue to spend some time before hitting the bars.

I don't write too many reviews, but Megu in NYC deserve one. Coming from Los Angeles, where Japanese style restaurants are plentiful, Megu takes the cake. Starting from the front of the house (cordial and attentive staff), to the bartender (house specialty drinks are a must), the service (impeccable), and the food...jaw dropping. The ambiance is a mixture of koi/katana/nobu, but the food far better than any of the three. I love NYC and now have an excuse to visit more often.

I made reservations at this place a month before my visit. The DAY of our reservation I was left a voicemail stating that the restaurant couldn’t accommodate my reservation any longer. I called back and couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone. Very disappointing.

Megu is fantastically dreamy! Food, service and ambiance is absolutely perfect!! I can't wait to go back!

Aside from the delicious food, the ambiance was stellar and the serve was top notch! Will be back soon!

The ambient of the restaurant was chill and the staff were friendly. It's a good place for celebrating any small-medium size group events. The presentation of food were creative, get the tuna tartar and you'll see. The food was good, but I expected more for the price and the menu was quite misleading. The kani salad's Alaskan king crab had barely any crab on the plate. My main was the wagyu chopped steak, but it's not a steak.....IT'S A PATTY! Don't worry, everything tasted great, but the salad wasn't fulfilling and I wish we had better explanation on the wagyu "steak". I would've ordered something else.

We had heard about this restaurant and this chef by a friend back home. Well, turns out it wasn't just any restaurant and this was no regular Chef. This was Megu and Chef Frances Tariga. We were wowed at the stairwell, before even entering the restaurant. Awesome decor, amazing vibe and super nice staff. We sat down and it all just went uphill from there! Our entire conversation at dinner....was about the dinner! The food was impeccable, creative and oh so delicious, our server Omar was very sweet and took great care of us, and the DJ was just amazing! Will we come back to Megu? Every.single.time.we are in NY.

This place is in a basement. Loud music. Flickering lights on the ceiling. Zero class. The old Megu served fabulous ingredients with deft, interesting flavors in an over-the-top space. This is an adolescent effort. The food consistently tasted like bar food. 'Gimme something dried to keep me satisfied.' We were sooo underwhelmed. The drinks were too sweet. Perhaps this spot just wants to appeal to millennials? This is a place to sop up your drunk, late at night. So disappointing.

Very loud bar, excellent sushi, very expensive. Nothing really exceptional as far as flavors. We did splurge on the Wagyu beef sliced on rice (served like sushi) - don't get it. Found it actually kind of chewy, very disappointing. Saki was great. Seems more a trendy place for the under 35 crowd.

Chef Frances Tariga-Weshnak is amazing, and Megu is absolutely worth a visit. The bar alone is high-end should you only want a cocktail, and the service at the bar was top notch. The menu is inspired and showcases her talent and imagination. Every dish was a hit.

I went to Megu last night with my friends and it was an AMAZING experience. The food there is outstanding and the service is wonderful. I can’t wait to go back!!

Delicious, delightful, divine! Spectacular vibe and ambiance. I highly recommend making this a spot to frequent and or stop along your way while visiting New York City.

Nice place for sushi food in an innovative restaurant. Good wine list and friendly staff. Would surely visit again!

My friends hosted a birthday dinner for me at Megu and all not only were blown away by the quality of food and service but had a fantastic time. I strongly recommend Megu for group dinner occasions be it for business or pleasure.

I'm not one to write reviews but this place is phenomenal! The decor is on point, the service was stellar, and the food blew us all away. The edamame lollipops were unique and delicious, the brussel sprouts were flavorful and crispy and the nori salmon belly tacos were one of my favorites. This place had some of the freshest fish I've ever had- the Megu roll was out of this world and the sea bass was melt in your mouth good. Chef Frances has really outdone herself with this amazing menu! Can't wait to go back.

By far the best new restaurant in NYC ! I came here for a friends birthday and can't wait to go back ! All the steaks were amazing. We came here for sushi but couldn't resist the steaks. Definitely a must visit when in NYC.

The restaurant is beautiful and live music was a great added bonus. The steak was incredible and I will for sure be back to try the sushi! Would especially recommend as a great place to start off a night with friends before going out.

The vibe...we were greeted by the hostess who acted as if they had been waiting all night for our arrival. Warm, welcoming and chic. The vibe , hip. The staff super cool. The decor, sultry and sexy. The food....awesome. Each and every item was outstanding. I love sushi but this is sushi with a twist. Hands down my favorite was the salmon tacos. They were beyond yummy and I'm still dreaming of them. The cocktails...delish. The sake, fabulous. A special shout out to the General Manager, Eric who made us feel like special guests when we arrived and by the time we departed (with reluctance), old friends. The staff is cool, attractive, hip and an outstanding attention to detail. The crowd was equally hip and chic. Thanks to the Eric and his staff for a memorable evening with the most yummy food. We will be back!

Everyone knows in NYC for the last 15 years, if you want above par, premium Asian cuisine you go to Nobu and for the last few years, you go to Megu. But I am here to say, Megu HANDS DOWN beats Nobu in so many facets of quality of food and drink selection. The Diamond Roll with caviar, toro, salmon and black truffle THE BEST roll I have ever eaten. The sticky rice, Wagu beef, cod dish that far surpasses Nobu's. The cocktail list was amazing. The entire table had Manhattans (how appropriate). We also had the top of the list Sake. It was the perfect place to host a business meeting and I will definitely be back with friends. I look forward to checking out their other locations around the world.

Awesome vibe and a fun crowd. Tempura shrimp rolls were on point, must try edamame lollipops. Cant wait to go back!

I came here thinking I was going to have sushi but after watching steal come out for the tables next to us we decided to have some steak and what a steal it was! The apps were delicious too salmon belly tacos were so good we had 2 orders. I use to go to Nobu and Zuma, this is my new spot.

Megu is one of the best places I've probably ever been to. The food is amazing, but what makes the whole experience is the atmosphere and the people. It's really chic and trendy, a place I would highly recommend and would definitely go back to again, and again!

If there's a restaurant in Manhattan worthy of 5 stars, it's this one. Starting with the drinks, the pink lotus was to die for. The Wild ginger was also very solid and garnished with a piece of candied ginger. The tacos are a must have. Crispy and delicious, not the typical tacos you see everywhere else. The Hamachi is also a great dish to try very nice and light. Very happy we ordered the huge shrimp, it was fresh, juicy and flavorful. Exactly what you want. The actual sushi was fantastic, all of the fish was some of the freshest that I've ever tasted. Last but certainly not least THE BRONUT. Try it with vanilla ice cream. Luscious, fudgy orgasm in your mouth. The taste was so powerful, smooth, delicious... The service was some of the best I've ever encountered in the city. Love the vibe !! Definetly recommends this spot and coming back soon !!

I was able to get a last minute reservation despite the restaurant almost being booked to capacity. Host was very accommodating. My wife and I decided on an impromptu date night based on a friend's suggestion and boy were we pleased! The omakase for two was amazing; fish is very fresh and said to be flown in straight from Japan. We also shared some starters, definitely suggest the salmon belly tacos. Vibe was very cool as well, equally a great spot for an evening cocktail or two. Highly recommend!

I heard this place had re-opened and I decided to take some friend with me was not disappointed food is first class, great ambience and friendly staff! Excellent

Excellent food and service. Went on a Saturday night and this place was packed! Even though they were very busy, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Service was attentive and everything tasted delicious. Will be back for sure.

This is going to be a STORY, so get yourself a cup of coffee and make yourself comfy. I have a dear friend who likes to take people out for swell meals in NYC on a regular basis. My friend is a big-spender and he likes to order multiple courses and wine parings. He's an experienced diner and he always gives careful instructions to the waitstaff about how he likes the meal to be served. This is never a problem. Usually the restaurant figures out that they have a big check coming, and they bend over backwards to make him happy. Not at Megu. OMG! I knew we were in trouble when we walked down the stairs into the basement. Repeat: Megu is now in a basement, and it feels like a basement - in the creepiest way possible. It has kind of a seventies Boogie Nights feeling - lots of red decor, thumping bass, and suspicious carpet. You would not want to take your shoes off in this restaurant. The party-girls at the next table were very drunk and one got down on all fours to search under the table for a dropped cell phone. It was only 8pm. The night was long. Our table was directly under an enormous speaker, so I could not hear the waitress or any of my dining companions. Nor could our waitress hear anything we said. Thus, my friend's careful instructions were completely ignored. He asked for a sake recommendation to accompany the appetizers. After a lot of confusion, the waitress offered to call the sommelier. Then the appetizers arrived - before we had even ordered the sake. When the sommelier finally arrived, it turned out that she was the same person as the hostess (?) but then she announced that she was only the wine sommelier and that we needed to wait for the sake sommelier. By this time, at least 45 minutes had passed. The appetizers had to be replaced. Meanwhile, the bass continued to thump. The banquette underneath me actually shook. The sake sommellier finally arrived and suggested a bottle. Then we waited almost 15 minutes for it to be served. When he finally returned, he said loudly, "Perfect Timing!". I can not tell you how unfortunate his choice of phrase was. The night dragged on. Since I couldn't really hear anyone, there was nothing to do while I waited for my food. None of the food came out in a normal way. There was always one person sitting in front of their plate trying to be polite while everyone else waited. The manager was called to the table repeatedly. The poor guy was incredibly nice and kept promising to fix things, but he was powerless. Every time we asked for the music to be turned down, it was turned down and then promptly turned back up again. Someone in our party approached the DJ and asked him what the deal was. He told us "the manager asks me to turn it down, but then the owner comes by and tells me to turn it back up again." Then, after our serving disaster became hard to ignore, the manager offered to comp our food. However, the owner seemed to object and sent a hostess to our table to offer free dessert instead. We just wanted to escape at this point, but we agreed to dessert. The dessert menus never even arrived. We just sat there for another hellish 15 minutes. Then the nice manager turned back up again, and paid for the food. I'm pretty sure he paid with his own money, and if he is reading this, thank you! Get another job! You deserve better! Anyway: I will add that the food was pretty good, but 3 1/2 hours in this place felt like 10 hours and there is nothing that could induce me to return here. On another note: NYC is full of restaurants that try to create an exciting atmosphere. It's a tricky thing to pull off. The ones that work are the ones that are able to offer something genuine and true along with the razzle dazzle. This restaurant felt like a creepy lie. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the positive reviews below are exactly that. The owner of this place would DEFINITELY pay for reviews.

Went to Megu in Tribeca several times before and was happy to hear that they reopened at Dream Hotel in Meatpacking. We made sure to arrive on time since it was a Saturday night. Host team sat us right away and introduced us to the drink list before the server came to explain the menu and the cocktails. We ordered some speciality drinks that the server recommended. Drinks were great! We then ordered our food, a mix of appetizers to share. loved the tuna in the small cones, the croquettes and the skewers with eggplant that came smoking hot on charchole to the table. I had the sweet potato ravioli as my main and my friends has the lobster and the file on hot stone. Everything was cooked perfectly and service was quick to ask for new drinks during the whole dinner. Sushi was served after main course and we shared a few rolls. Beautiful presented and the rice was cooked perfect. Would def recommend the new Megu! Its great for people watching too. Saw some celebs as well.

This was the night's most upbeat stop. Dressy, live, loud, flirty, some excelente food, good cocktails. I would come back for the nightlife package not for the food only. actually, we eat some raw mini-tacos that we're worth going back ;-)

As a New Yorker, I highly recommend dining here. The food, drinks, and staff are amazing! The venue also has a very cool vibe.

I dined solo at Megu toward the end of a business trip. It's a lovely restaurant with great ambiance. The wait staff was very attentive and made me feel welcome as a solo diner. I chose a vegetarian dish that was delicious. Dessert and cocktails were also top-notch. May be a bit pricey for some travelers, but well worth it.

We went to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Coming to this place was perfect, the food and service was beyond great! Definitely we will go back.

The Wagu beef was the best tasting cut of meat I have ever experienced in my life and the asparagus appetizer was incredible from the presentation to the creative way it was put together. It had an upscale, trendy and swanky crowd. Amazing ambiance. I can't wait to come back! Everyone was super friendly and the service was perfect from start to finish! I can't wait to bring friends for my birthday in a few weeks!

We made it through the snow storm with hopes of having a good meal with friends and we're blown away by our time at Megu. Every aspect of our dining experience exceeded all expectations. The Avion Tequila and Elyx Vodka drinks were especially delicious! Chef Frances Tariga-Weshnak did not disappoint with one scrumptious dish after another from appetizers to deserts. The staff was extremely hospitable assisting with our every need and provided recommendations throughout our dining experience. MEGU is a MUST see on your next night out in NYC!

All the Megu specialties prepared to perfection. Miyasaki A5 Rib Eye. New style sashimi. Crispy Rock Shrimp. When ordering Robataya ask for Wagyu and Tsukune. Our waitress helped us find the perfect cocktail that matched our taste. The execution of the food at Megu is always spot on. And I leave happier than when I arrived.

The food & service will exceed any expectations you might have when heading to Megu in NYC! This place is amazing for a nice dinner with family or friends, perfect for a night out, and you will leave feeling beyond satisfied. Highly recommend to anyone in the NYC area!

This is my first visit to the new Megu. I was a regular at the old TriBeCa location. This Megu is smaller but don't let that sway you from visiting. The ambiance is trendy and hip yet cozy. Bar is wonderfully positioned away from the cozy dining area. Bartender makes delicious, strong and well balanced drinks. Server Lisa was friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hostess was also sweet and warm. There is no snobby attitude like in the old Megu. General Manager Eric Otero truly made my friends birthday very special. He satisfied our every whim making it one of the best dining experiences for us. I'm a foodie and get around NYC restaurants and am already placing Megu in my top 10 in NYC. The food menu is outstanding and dishes like salmon tacos, tuna tartare cones, cod fish wraps, vegan dumplings, edamame lollipops, paradise roll and sushi are outstanding. The flavors are delicate, pleasing to the palate and not overwhelmed by heavy, salty sauces as in some other high end restaurants. Complaints about small portions are unwarranted. I'm a huge believer in sharing various appetizers for a tapas experience. Cheers Eric to a job well done. Megu is a must visit when in NYC.

Sushi was fantastic but don't forget to try Chef Frances' hot dishes! She was on Top Chef and you can see why when you try her food. The place is gorgeous. Take a date. You (and they) will not be disappointed!!

Last night I experienced an amazing night at Megu. From start to finish, nothing to fault. The food was absolutely incredible. I mean, wow. Can't wait to go back.

not only is Megu located at dream hotel downtown absolutely delicious but the ambiance and experiences i have had there are beyond beautiful. Hands down one of my favorite places in town! It is not often that i write reviews or give 5 stars but when i tell you i couldn't find one thing wrong with this restaurant i mean it. Amazing menu that doesn't stop amazing me each time i go and order something new, beautiful venue and soooooo much fun!

Congrats to my dear friend Jon Bakhshi.. with his amazing and wonderful re-incarnation of Megu. Both the place itself and the food equally are nothing short of great!!!! You have outdone yourself!!!! Stephan S.

I was at Megu last night for a birthday party and could not have been happier. Super helpful staff prior to the event and during, food and presentation was amazing! I highly recommend the sushi and the fluke. Me and my friends even liked it so much, we booked in another birthday party there in a few weeks.

Visited here for dinner having made a booking at short notice. The reviews suggested we had a real treat in store. Definitely not the case! Firstly the positives, the staff are friendly and the room is buzzy. The negatives, the food is very average and and worse, it is ridiculously overpriced (Note we are familar with NYC pricing and Japanese so have no issue paying for the real deal). I am not sure if they just had a bad night as the amount of ‘amazing’ reviews on this restaurant seem completely out of sync with the reality of what we ate. For starters we had wagyu gyoza, a waste of what should be prime ingredient given the lack of flavour, spicy cheese dumplings which I could manage to eat one of four and nori salmon tacos which were the best part of the starters. For mains we had the worst sashimi we have ever had. Cut like a door step with no finesse, this cannot be a trained sushi chef that respects his ingedients. The sushi rolls were mushy and tasteless, oh and four pieces of toro tuna sushi at $21 per piece! Could never recommend this restaurant.

I came her for my birthday with some friends. We had such a good time! You want to ask to sit in the back area of the restaurant. There is music playing and lights displaying art on the walls. Food, service and drinks are excellent.

Megu is an amazing restaurant. Truly out of this world food cooked expertly by Executive Chef Frances Tariga-Weshnak and her team. I had the sublime rib eye steak with Parmesan truffle shoestring fries which is served on a hot stone and flambéed by the server. Theatrical and fun to watch and so, so enjoyable to eat. My wife had saki braised short ribs they so tender the knife cut into it like a hot knife into butter. The drinks menu is extensive I had a glass of one of three Chardonnay's available and my wife went for the Japanese mojito. To top off a memorable evening we got the chance to meet Frances who was really engaging and even showed us her kitchen. This has to be one of the best restaurants in NYC and I highly recommend you book a table.

Went to Megu on a Saturday night. Service-very slow, so slow that I can't emphasize it enough. The fastest thing They brought us was the check. We had to constantly ask for Our waiter to be called to our table, and once you've placed your order it takes forever to come. By the time food arrives you need another drink. By the time the 2nd drink arrives you need more food. I ordered tequila which simply needed to be poured into a glass and still had to wait nearly 20 minutes. Food-mediocre best. Nothing special especially for what they charge. I am a restauranteur so I go out a lot and try different places. I will never go back to Megu. My suggestion-try Zuma on Madison Ave. It's upscale, classier, food is very good. Waiters are nice. And you don't have to kill half the night waiting for your order to arrive. Even the crowd there is much different that what we've experienced at Megu. Oh before I forget, if you do decide to try Megu make sure you use the restroom at home; they have 2 restrooms and there is a line to get in. HORRIBLE

I went to Megu on a Monday night and they have a fun vibe with a DJ playing 80's & 90's music. This takes place weekly to boost an off night. I've also eaten here on the weekend and it's of course a full house. Before dinner, grab a drink at the bar, where the friendly bartender will make one of the house signature cocktails or customize a drink of his own design. For appetizers, we liked the Crispy Rock Shrimp and Spicy Cheese Dumplings, as well as the Edamame Lollipops (think of an upgraded falafel ball on a stick, but much tastier). The two types of toro were delicious. I loved the filet mignon that is served sizzling on a hot stone. A friend that didn't eat red meat raved about the Kombu Brined Organic Chicken and I must say, it was surprisingly good. Miso Glazed Cod was delicious, but that's usually a good bet at a good Japanese restaurant.

Oddly I will start with the positives, 1.) The venue was lovely 2.) Women were attractive 3.) DJ was simply awesome. I had a 10:15 reservation for 5 people and upon arrival we quickly realized that they were GROSSLY overbooked and understaffed, we had to wait over an hour to be seated and we were not the only ones!!! People were literally furious with the experience and despite being comped some appetizers and drinks by well meaning hosts who I felt bad for the execution was PISS POOR! At 1am we had STILL not received our food after waiting for roughly 3 hours, additionally one of my guests was told that "They were out of what she had ordered from the waiter" NONE of us are in our 20's or early 30's so we understand what a proper experience is supposed to feel like.... Its audacious for a venue to charge $18 for drinks and entree's easily reaching $50 to start YET be so underprepared to serve its clientele ! They only had ONE Bartender which further compounded the issue, I found myself chasing folks around for food, drinks, seating... It really sucks because when I walked in I was VERY happy to see the look of the venue and the folks hanging out... In the future when I want Asian food in Meatpacking I will reserve with the TAO and Buddakhan, Megu needs to really get its act together and think about SERVICE before price point !

Amazing food, amazing ambiance!! But seriously. The food is incredible. A lot of these meatpacking places are just overpriced tourist crap but megu is NOT one of these places!!! I could go on and on about the impecible service, the beautiful decor, etc.. But the star here is really the food.. I have never had a single disappointing item here, literally every thing I have ever ordered has blown my mind and been incredible. Thank you so much megu for accommodating me on my birthday and every other time. You guys rock!

SO excited this place opened! From the second we sat down I knew it was going to be the best experience. Our waitress was so attentive and helpful with anything we needed. She was so knowledgable of the menu and made suggestions based on our food preference. The food was delicious and we enjoyed everything we ordered especially the duck and octopus! Seriously so fresh and the chef paired the flavors of each of the plates so perfectly! The atmosphere is amazing, you almost escape to a different world with the beautiful Kimonos on the ceiling. Cant wait to come back!!

This place is a MUST when your in NYC. If your looking for great Japanese food with a great vibe look no further - everything is incredible from the food to the decor to the atmosphere and the crowd. Our waiter was very well versed and explained the menu for us in detail. We wanted to order everything... But our favorites were the crispy Brussels Sprouts and the edamame lollipops. Be sure to leave room for desert as well, and order a cocktail or two :) Can't say enough good things about this place - already looking forward to going back!!

Megu is probably one of the coolest most underrated sushi spots in NYC. It’s not a spacious attraction like Tao, but it gives off a more private speakeasy vibe. The lighting is dark yet colorful, making you feel like you’ve successfully escaped reality. In terms of food, the fish is very fresh and tastey, along with the cheese dumplings (you must have them). I’m on a mission to make Megu more popular.

This place was a huge disappointment! When I arrived the maitre'd came over and introduced himself, I asked if we could be seated as some of my friends were running late and he quickly told me we had an hour and a half to dine because it was a Saturday and they tripled book - that's not my problem. He did seat us before the rest of the group came. Service was slow and our food took forever to come out of the kitchen. They gave us the check without asking if we wanted dessert. Our waiter seemed annoyed that we wanted dessert and was even more hostile because he got the order wrong and gave someone a cappucino that was not ordered. Finally we were finished and asked for the check. The maitre'd came by and told us that the next table was there and he was bringing our check, very rude, we told him we were waiting on our check. Food sub-par and over priced. The only good thing about this place is the music, the decor and beautiful NYC people Will I return there - NEVER! Too many places in this fab city worth going to than this won't last long establishment!

Fun place to bring clients, a date, or for a big group for a special occasion. The steak was tender and delicious. The sushi was fresh and the special sushi rolls were all amazing. Very impressed by the presentation of each dish as well.

Last night I dined at Megu for a late Galentine's Day dinner with 10 girls and I was extremely impressed with every single experience I had. From the attentive and hospitable service, I received, to the delicious dishes, everything exceeded my already high expectations. I loved my cocktail, Wild Ginger, it was fresh and not too sugary. Dinner was so amazing, I'm still full! We had rock shrimp, Wagyu gyoza, a ton of sushi (with truffles and edible gold), and tons more. Every time something came out, we had a new favorite! Loved it so much we're booking a birthday there for a few weeks from now. Definitely my new go-to restaurant.

From the moment we stepped through the door, our experience was top-notch! The service, food and beverages are unsurpassed. So happy to have Megu back in NYC! The Hamachi Crudo, Nori Salmon Belly Taco, Crispy Rock Shrimp, Kabayaki-Glazed Charred Octopus and Wagyu are all AMAZING!

Visited the restaurant with a friend after work and absolutely enjoyed it! The ambiance, food, service was all excellent. Will be coming back for more cheese dumplings soon :)

I had the best time at Megu! Was invited to a private party in the back room....It was trendy and elegant at the same time. The food was delicious and the drinks outstanding! Looking forward to hosting an event here myself!

I ate here with a large group and loved it. The food is delicious. Definitely get the filet, tuna tacos and sushi. It has that "only in new york" restaurant feel. It is a great idea for a group dinner and where to bring out of town guests.

First off the decor and ambiance of this restaurant is sexy and hot.. The staff is professional and very knowledgeable of wine and cocktails.. The menu is exciting and very creative.. Food was served as described on the menu.. We enjoyed all of our dishes.. The Sake list and Wine list is exceptional.. Try it out and you will satisfied..

Loved Megu for many reasons, the food is delicious with so many options, the room is sexy and the vibe is upbeat.

The food is superb and the service was remarkable! One of NYC's must try places... don't get left out! You will not regret it.

WOW! I'm still floored by our experience last night. Went for my bday and had the best time ever! We walked in, got seated right away. Every single server was so nice and all about making the night pleasant. The ambiance and decor was stupendous!!! Whoever designed that place has a genius mind for art. The place was packed with celebrities everywhere you look. But a nice mix of average people (like us lol) too. The restaurant was big enough that you're not stuffed in but not too big and overwhelming. Food - AMAZING! Must have the edamame falafel balls - they have melted tehina on the inside which bursts in your mouth!!! Salmon belly tacos were heaven in a taco... seriously! The sushi was divine. We had a couple special rolls (dream roll was delish) and a whole bunch of sashimi - everything was perfect. Super fresh, flavorful, amazinggggg!!! The dessert was divine - as it should be!! (Desserts are super important for me) From start to finish everything was perfect and we really had the best evening! Thanks MEGU!

We had a small friend reunion and a few from it if state came to NY so I promised them I would take them to am abashing Japanese cuisine restaurant. They all were very pleased with everything from the food to the staff to the look of the place. Highly recommend going there and as for myself I will be back

The sushi is nothing special, and extremely overpriced. I don't know if this will become a tourist trap, but sushi connoisseurs will not go here more than once.

Was in NYC the week of the election. Myself and 2 others had a bite to eat in MEGU based on a recommendation from the Standard. The sushi was good but not amazing and the bill was outrageous. Service was so so by NY standards. One of my colleagues saw a mouse run by on our exit which was highlighted to the manager who didn't really react at all. All in all 2 out of 10 - Poor

From beginning to end, we had an amazing time. Food was great and the experience was put of this world. There was flaming dishes for there steaks and desserts. And the sushi was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this as a teue new york destination.

Me and my husbands new favorite restaraunt. We were treated like royalty when we walked in the door to the moment we left and the food was absolutely the best quality fish I have ever eaten!!!! If you love good fish and sushi - This place is a must!!!!! Can't wait for next week for a friends birthday when we go back again!

I had higher expectations and unfortunately, Megu did not quite hit the mark. My friend and I made a reservation here for restaurant week dinner and when we arrived, noticed that it wasn't busy. It's located downstairs and the place is pretty dark. We were seated by our host, only to have someone else come over to ask if we had reservations or if we were walk in. Um, what? But, no big deal. Got on to looking at our menu and realized they didn't provide us with the restaurant week menu, so ended up having to ask for that from our waitress. Proceeded to order my drink only to be told a couple of minutes later that they don't have the ingredients to make it. My impression of this place continues to drops, hoping the food will make up for it. I ordered the salmon belly taco, sake braised short rib and matcha crepe cake. I enjoyed the salmon belly taco, but wish I could say the same for the short rib. Sure, it was tender and fell right off the bone, but it was entirely too salty for my liking. The matcha crepe cake was pretty standard. Overall, it's pretty pricey for an average meal.

The sushi good but very expensive and the fusion plates very interesting. The service needs to put their act together. Ordering and communicating is a challenge because the place is very dark and the music very loud. Overall a fun but expensive experience.

Dined here for a girls night out and had some of the most delicious and creative Japanese I've had in a long time. The salmon belly tacos are incredible!!! The miso glazed cod is gorgeous too. Such an amazing vibe and the service was on point. Do yourself a favor and go to Megu this weekend!!!

Thank you guys for the wonderful experience ,Friendly staff and delicious food. Definitely will be back to my favorite place.

Amazing atmosphere and food, from wagyu to sushis! This new Megu located in the dream downtown is a must go. Service is very professional and friendly.

Highly suggest checking this restaurant out! The food and atmosphere were amazing, Especially the rib-eye steak and duck! Can't wait to come back to try more of the menu options as everything looked delicious!

Had the opportunity to be in the area and decided to try as I've heard much about the space. Arriving into the dining area it was quite a cozy and endearing space with low lights and solid beats. I must have came during a few large seatings but was still very well taken care of, even the management staff stayed truly attentive. It is not your typical menu and you should spend some time going through all of the curated options. I started with the classic Shishito Peppers made new by way of glazed truffle kabayaki, each one deliciously doused. Continued with the Naruto Roll with salmon, tuna, and hamachi served in cucumber sheets, each piece literally melting in my mouth. Finished off with the Sake Braised Shortrib so soft the chopsticks were able to slice thru the tender meat. There was so much more on the menu I wanted to work myself thru! Absolutely a place and dining experience worth coming into town for.

Very good location. Amazing food, ambiance and staff. We had a great time. I highly recommend this place

The decor and food is amazing. We had the salmon taco and tomato salad for appetizers. The were delicious. We als haste Meua Roll and the King crab roll. Can't wait to go back.

First time dining at Megu and I was a little bit hesitant of what to order and then the waiter arrived. He really helped us order the perfect amount of food for our group of five. The dishes are inspired, well plated & make you want to go back for more. Every bite was tasteful and had great flavor. Executive Chef Frances personally visited our table to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Be sure to save room and order the flaming dessert! Will be going back to Megu again soon!

Delicious dinner and fabulous staff! Atmosphere was SO fun - great balance for a 47 year old mom and 13 year old daughter. Just enough night life (early in the evening) so mom doesn't feel trying too hard and too much for 13 year old.
Megu is the best!
I recently celebrated my birthday at Megu with my family and absolutely loved it! The service was great and the food was beyond amazing---I would definitely recommend the Edamame lollipops, salmon tacos, and ice cream sandwiches. My twin sister and I felt really special when Jon B and some other employees even came to our table to sing happy birthday to us!
