Beyond godness

By Benjamin |

What an experience! I had to wait for a while which wasnt bad as the store itself is already worth to be seen. The sandwich was just not out of this world. I would have given even more stars! Best and freshest thing i ate in nyc! Go there!

Hidden gem on Upper East Side

By OxfamKate |

We found this place a few blocks from Guggenheim and the Met while looking for a nice place to buy sandwiches. The shop is stocked with amazing mouth-watering deli foods, from salads to sandwiches, meats and cheeses, and plenty of drink options. So would be great for a picnic. We had the meatball hot sandwich, and a Milano special - both delicious. A hidden gem just off museum mile.

Ordered Sammie’s for a Memorial day picnic with the pups in Central Park. Chechen Cesar wrap with avocado, bacon, olive, roasted peppers, basil, lettuce, tomato and mixed greens. Lamb sandwich with artichoke. Milano Supremo Sandwich number # 2 with basil, lettuce and tomato.

Excellent sandwiches for lunch

Great place close to Columbia to grab a sandwich. Sandwiches are huge and delicious. Ate it at the nearby park.

Nice little market for prepared foods and bakery items

By Dagny33028 |

Milano Market was in the neighborhood where we were staying on the UES. It was a great place to pick up snacks, prepared foods and coffee in the morning.

Many possibilities. Delicious.

If you want to take out very good and delicious food we can go to Milano Market and choose between fresh and well presented meals. Exquisite and palatable.

Reselling food?

By Sharon S |

Bought eggplant parm ( I thought) and heated for dinner only to discover it was some kind of meat (I’m a vegetarian). Took it back the next day for a refund and they accused me of eating some of it and would not give me a refund. I had to take another portion but I was hesitant as they also claimed if I had brought it back whole (I had cut into it which is how I discovered the meat), they could have sold it to someone else! Don’t think the health dept would love that idea.

This place is not okay

By Cinzia B |

I have been going to Milano Market for ages to buy Italian prosciutto cotto, San Daniele prosciutto crudo , Plasmon biscuits, taralli, pasta and other Italian items. I have to say that aside of few employees some are completely clueless. They do not serve the clients properly, they do not know how to cut prosciutto. Not to mention the ladies at the cashier, always talking between themselves in Spanish. They are rude. I usually pay more than $100 and the receipt is not even itemized. I do not even know what I pay for each item. After many year I felt I should write a review because this is not ok. I work next to Eataly and this is a much better option in terms of quality, treatment and price. Or Citarella 75th and 3rd. I am Italian, I know how food should be served, this place is really taking advantage of people.

WORLD CLASS: Integrity, Quality, Fantastico!

O boy....I used to live at 89th & Lex....now I’m in the hinterlands at 86th & York. I don’t get, sadly, to Milano market often enough. Today was a bonanza: fresh baked ham, homemade egg salad, long stem artichokes, fresh cooked shrimp....madness....does not get better! Quality, consistency, pride, freshness, beauty....an eatery heaven on earth! Anthony drives in from Commack, out East, every morning....the spectacular girlz come in, I believe, from the Borough of Richmond: Alasandra & Salina! OMG....does not get better.... Penultimate foodie professionals to the max! For me it is an honor to shop at Milano Market....I’ve had the good fortune to travel on six continents with my sons....Antartica awaits....lol Thank you Milano Market....you are genuine, authentic with purity and integrity across the board. I love the homemade pastas and exotic olive oils for sale

By Allison K |

Milano is amazing for finding exotic olive oils and balsamic that are reasonably priced. They also have an extensive sandwich menu. It takes a long time for them to make the sandwiches, but it's because they take pride in doing everything a specific way. My husband loves their sandwiches and they are HUGE. I also recommend the rosemary bread and the home made pastas and sauces - they are incredible and make me feel like I'm in Italy again. Try to go on an off time to avoid lines. If you come on a Saturday at lunch time, you could be standing in line for an hour to get your sandwich.

Denied service with my Service Dog

By Kylia1 |

I was denied service for having my service dog with me. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the city. Expect to be discriminated against if you shop here.

Continues to be great

By robcurtross |

I found Milano Market last fall searching for Italian cookies, and was delighted at the range of Italian specialties on offer. Last week it was just as inviting and rewarding -- a vast range of Italian foods of high quality, a very helpful and attentive staff, and very good cleanliness.

Here’s a recent review...still FABULOUS!

By Pastrychef_10 |

So good we went twice during a recent visit...called ahead and sandwiches were ready in 20 minutes. Such a great selection, you can’t go wrong with any of the sandwiches but my favorite is the one with soppresatta and broccoli rabe. And do try a dessert...both the cannoli and the baba au rum were great.

A great neighborhood gourmet deli

By Ed Yoo |

A great neighborhood gourmet deli. In my humble opinion one of the best sandwich shops in Manhattan. The only pitfall is there is no seating in the restaurant which is unfortunate. However, if your going into the park grab a sandwich to go. Terrific prepared foods too!

Struck out but ...

By robcurtross |

What a wonderful specialty Italian market. I was looking for amaretti cookies, the version with the hollow inside, but they only have the thick type. But oh my goodness how many other wonderful foods are on offer here. I will certainly be back.

authentic italian products

Great for sausage/cheese/prepared Italian food on Upper East Side

By PliniusCaecilius |

If you're on the upper east side (98th & 3rd) this is a great deli for getting wonderfully pre-prepared Italian take-out, plus sausage and cheese - for one of the nights when you want to eat well, but don't want to go out. Not expensive for what it offers.

Love this place

By prohatyn |

Whenever I am in New York, I make a special detour up to the Milano Market for their Italian Hero, by far the best I have found in town. Overstuffed with the finest ingredients, any combination you want. The folks could not be friendlier. If the Italian Hero is not your thing, the rest of the sandwiches on offer are just as mouth-watering. You simply cannot go wrong here.

Surprisingly Good

By Harvey M |

Take out food from delis is not where I expect restaurant quality in its prepared foods. The Eggplant Parmigiana purchased here changed my mind. The tomato sauce that they have for it is also quite good.

Do not shop here!! Unsanitary and bad rude cooks.

By Lula A |

I asked for broccoli they charged me for potatoes, I went to return unopened crackers and they asked me why I was back and was rude about me returning it. The food is tasteless and bad, it also has a nasty wet rag unsanitary smell in the deli overall. This place is dirty, the people are rude, do not shop here. Over priced not even close to authentic Italian food. They are terrible cooks.

Busy and justly popular deli

By Hera38 |

I live nearby and this is my go-to place for takeout and for basic Italian groceries. It's a deli, with a long display counter and no seating. There is a big selection of prepared foods and the turnover is rapid so everything is always fresh. Most of it is tasty if not ultra-sophisticated- its roots are red-sauce Italian. The place is popular with all locals, from construction workers attracted by the huge sandwiches to thin Upper East Side ladies looking for salads and minuscule portions of grilled chicken breast. The quality is good considering the reasonable prices. Staff, many of them long-term, can be gruff but are basically hard-working and friendly.

Fantastic wrap and Sandwich

By brad pits stuntman |

Came to this establishment on a recommendation. Ordered a prime sandwich and a chicken Caesar wrap. Big portions, a meal within itself , ideal for lunch. The quality and selection of food in the establishment is exceptional. A must visit. Friendly helpful staff. Note this the east side shop.

Huge selection of meats, cheeses, desserts, antipasto, Italian foods, and subs/salads. Our family recommended this place, and it did not disappoint. We grabbed 2 amazing subs and some antipasto, which was filled with tons of Italian meats and cheeses and marinated veggies. Best I've ever had! The desserts are amazing - good luck choosing :-) Great locally owned deli!

Great salad and sandwiches in NY

By Laurie B |

This place was recommended and it was a great meal for my son and myself. He had a NY style deli sandwich and I had a salad. The service was fast.

always the "go to" place for a quick and delicious taste of Italy,

By billcarroll289 |

We often visit friends on the UES and have always found Milano's an excellent late night source for great sandwiches as well as a great variety of all things Italian at reasonable NYC prices.

Love!

This is great little market for prepared foods and other necessities. Love the artichokes (and everything else).

From Milan to Manhattan

By robertomN124LH |

This corner shop is the best Italian specialty carry-out food venue in the neighborhood. Upper Eastsiders as we are, we stop in for cheese, prosciutto, breads, panettoni, and rice about once a week. The prepared foods are scrumptious. The counter guys are invariably pleasant. At times the shop is claustrophobic, and customers may have to wait to check out. But the quality of the food is there with prices on the premium side.

Best Italian Deli

By newenglandny |

Decided to get 4 sandwiches to go. Each one different and each one very good. Friendly service, very clean, homemade salads, soda, beer, etc. Also make green salads. Everything was very fresh, delicious! Very friendly with good service. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.

OMG!!!!!

By Sallyc0226 |

What a place!!! An Italian food lover’s dream-come-true. I didn’t find this place til I moved within a few blocks from it. Previously I went to Agata and Valentino’s, but no more. This place is SO far superior!! The meats and prepared food are so varied and so delicious. The selection of breads alone could choke a horse. The sauces, the cheeses, the soups, the desserts, it just goes on and on. Size wise it’s small, but cram jam packed with just about any Italian thing you can think of. Try it. You’ll LOVE it!!

Lovely shop!

By kiran3000 |

I love Milano Market! They have a large variety of prepared foods which varies. I have bought Italian meatballs, Brazilian chicken, spinach Stromboli, rice cooked with vegetables etc. They also have a deli section where you can find salami, ham, cheese and they make huge sandwiches with whatever you want. Their soups, they have four? Selections daily. One can also buy fresh pasta, sauces, cheese, bread, cookies, sodas and even get a carton of milk. So handy and delicious.

Authentic excellent food!

Great, friendly fun service. Hidden gem in New York. Awesome & authentic Italian food & specialties.

Too much to choose from

By dorlucie |

When in need of food to go this is a MUST. All food categories and something for anyone's dietary needs or not. We love penne vodka and linguine with clams. Great desserts and assortment of chocolates. Coffee is great and that has a lot of competition from surrounding coffee stores.

Very upscale and nice sandwiches

By seasonedvisitor |

The sandwiches are made to perfection and you are not taking of the standard sandwich but make very well. It also has salads and pasta as well as a deli store. Personnel are very friendly

Delicious and tasty Italian food!

By Tony C |

This is a gourmet deli-market offering prepared sandwiches and other prepared dishes specializing in Italian foods along with market-like groceries featuring Italian products, pasta and speciality italian desserts. The display and menu was varied and looked very appetizing. We purchased delicious Italian sandwiches. Very tasty and fresh. No seating and table service available. Employees very helpful and accommodating. If I’m in that area of the city again, it will be a definite stop for lunch! Try it, I think will be pleased!

Disappointed

Some of the workers in this market are horrible. Very rude, uncordial, downright disrespectful. Will not ever go in again! Shame on this MoM&PoP shop!!!!

250$ for 20$ shopping

By sahsine c |

I had the worst experience with this store. I was overcharged by $200 for a simple pasta and sauce purchase, and despite trying to resolve the issue multiple times, they refused to take responsibility. Their customer service is appalling—they turned me away when I visited the store, and even the manager gave me false promises. In the end, they refused to refund my money, and my bank couldn’t help because it was an in-person transaction. This business has no respect for its customers and absolutely no accountability. Avoid at all costs and double-check your receipts because they will overcharge you and won’t care at all. I would give zero stars if I could!

Fantastic sandwich and experience!

By Patty L |

Stopped in with my son to pick up a sandwich. Absolutely amazing! They were very busy but incredibly quick. I tried the Milano and my son one of the roast beef sandwiches. Highly recommend this place.

Awful experience

By SR76 |

Awful customer service – the bearded employee at the counter was rude and dismissive. The owner should reconsider hiring someone like him, especially given the high prices. First-class customer service is expected when paying premium, but sadly, I don't recommend this place.
