Pleasant discovery in NY

By SimoneMa80 |

A little place found somewhat by chance while walking around on a Saturday evening looking for a restaurant. We were welcomed by Alessandro with whom we had a pleasant chat during dinner. Fine cuisine that truly tastes of Italy in a cool and refined location.

Cool Spot ✨

Group of 6 of us dined here last night. Really cool funky spot. Great, cocktails & wine menu. Liam was such a great host. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend!

The Friendliest Wine!

By drheath2015 |

A business colleague and I stopped by Misirizzi after a meeting at NYU to talk about a presentation and just had a glass of wine. However, during that time, we spread out our presentation on the bar and the staff cheerfully accommodated us- which shows how welcoming the restaurant is! The wine was excellent, the service perfect, and while we didn't eat, their were patrons around us enjoying fine-looking meals. Misirizzi is truly a gem!

Nice Italian Restaurant

This restaurant is small but good. We were seated toward the back as there was a party in the back room. The service was friendly and efficient as we had an event to attend. Everyone was very attentive, especially when we asked about food contents because of allergies. Food was excellent.

Solid italian food in a nice atmosphere

After show at the blue man group. 4 minutes away. The past was excellent even offering gluten free options. We loved the service and the location in an old garage type setting but with bar and fire place. Definitely a keeper

Great luncheon and service

What can you say when everything comes together? We fenjoyed a nice red wine with our appetizer. Our main dishes were excellent. Service was perfect. Very small reservation suggested.

Great food and very friendly service

By time2goout |

Great food and very friendly service at this family run small italian restaurant in the east village. We asked to share three dishes as antipasti, primi and secondi. Portions are pretty large and for to adults, we had plenty of food. All dishes were well prepared, well presented and indeed very delicious. We had a couple of interesting drinks - for example the Capriola - and the wine list is, while limited, adequate. We will enjoy to come back!

Perfect

Came down here for the first time after a show on Broadway, we were lucky to have a table given that we were six of us. The pasta was impeccably cooked, handmade, and the ambience and the restaurant was fantastic. Small place lovely atmosphere. Alessandro came by to introduce himself. Had a great meal. Thank you.

Good, but working hard to be very good

Misirizzi is a work in progress. Certainly, it's a good find---reservations are recommended. Its cozy and the service is welcoming and favorably attentive. My strascinati was good, though not memorable. The Risotto Frutti Mare was rated as first class. The Brazino, only so-so. It is essentially right around the corner from the Public, so there's clearly an incentive to do better--which judging from their enthusiasm, I'm convinced the will.

Italian Gem near Public Theatre

By Karen L |

It's hard to break out the best part of our dinner here, but the tone was set by our waiter who was also the bartender. Instead of describing the "by the glass" wines, he brought over the bottles for a tasting so we could select the best wine for our dinner. And of course, each new tasting got its own fresh glass. Our party of four enjoyed the olives and bread and our delicious pastas. The new owners then came over to introduce themselves and we had a lovely chat about Italy. We come to the Public Theatre often and this is now our "go to" place.

A sweet Italian find

By ChefAnnMt_Laurel_NJ |

Was happy to come across this charming Italian restaurant yesterday. Had a Piadina for lunch, mozzarella and tomato flatbread sandwich. Piadina is a word for street food from the Rimini region (where one of the owners is from). Service was excellent, sandwich was very good, prices fair, ambiance lovely. If it were in N.J., I would visit often! Talk to the co-owner if you can, Alessandro, who is there October-May, he is delightful, warm and welcoming.

Perfect End to a Perfect Day

By John A |

A beautiful Fall day in NYC was wonderfully complimented with dinner in this quaint, quiet Italian bistro. The staff were personable, warm, and helpful. In town for a long weekend, when we return, this place will be a ‘must’ on our list of places to eat.

A nice find

By JoeHouston52 |

A true winner. Great food. Large menu. Pastas were their strong suite. Great service - and they have to schlep the food up from the basement. Cozy and small space. Eclectic - mainly Italian - wine selection. Our party of 7 had a swell time for $450 including tip. Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Value 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 3/5 - tight space so a bit noisy

A Gem of a Restaurant - best value place I’ve been to in 5 weeks!

By Mark D |

Came here for a late dinner after work as it was recommended and it was great. A little entrance and long and thin place, full of customers. Lovely staff who were very helpful and a great atmosphere. We had the most expensive items on the menu - scallops and then a ‘special’ veal with a bottle of wine, which were beautiful but it did become quite expensive @$70 per person. I think it would have been much cheaper if you had ‘normal’ choices! Anyhow - great find and I will certainly return!!

A new favorite for real Italian...

By Stephen O |

Great neighborhood restaurant. Authentic Italian cooking in modern, eclectic space. Wonderful service. We enjoyed a delicious dinner last night, branzino- beautifully prepared; a special seafood risotto- rich and tasty. Cheese plate was excellent and with the freshly made, warm Piada bread- divine!

A great local find

By scott sitner |

We looked for an italian place around NYU and just randomly found this one. Very happy, First, if you want veal pam, alfredo and a caesar salad, don't come here. This is not mass market italian. It's more of a casual foodie place. The owners are on site which is great. Small menu, maybe five pastas, three entrees, a few specials, and apps. Since most italian places in the city veer awards large, loud and average, this was great. The food was all fresh and different, clearly homemade, and different, Pasta with swordfish, pasta with pesto and buffalo cream, great scallops. and small, maybe 10-12 tables. A very nice unexpected find that we will come back to often.

Tiny Treasure in NYU Territory

By Carmen R |

If you are in the area of the east 4th Street after spending your day roaming around lower the lower East Side and are looking for a cozy Italian restaurant with reasonably priced good food, this is a find. If the dinning room is full, the noise level is high, but early or late are perfect times to enjoy the great service by very gracious service people and time to explore the interesting wine selections. This is a welcome addition to a neighborhood full of same food eateries.

Excellent food and charming service

By Kate V |

Our party of seven including children had a wonderful experience. The service was attentive and charming. The food was outstanding, and we felt transported to Italy, where we have been many times. The wine was also delicious and reasonably priced. This is place is a true gem.

A gift to the neighborhood

By joandark68 |

Misirizzi is a pleasure. The food is delicious and imaginative, but not crazy. Service is lovely. Prices are reasonable. Wine list is huge. And it's quiet enough to talk to the person you're with. Note: the actual dining room isn't quite visible from the street, so it can look empty when it isn't. Also, there's a nice big room downstairs for groups.

Great surprise!

After a show at the Public, we tried this new gem. We all had something different, and each dish was delicious, fresh ingredients and expertly presented. The service was warm and friendly and all in all, we had a great meal and experience.

Best Italian

By Laura S |

The food here is so delicious, excellent service. The downstairs private room is the best, but upstairs is lovely also. Stumbled upon this place by accident a few years ago and continue to come back. Amazing food thank you!!!

I went with the best friend of my oldest son (this friend chose this restaurant and now lives in New York), during a 4-day visit to New York. We shared parmigiana di Zucchine for starters, which was excellent He then chose Strascinati pasta while I took Oxtall Gnocchi for our meals. Phenomenal! I then took a raspberry cheese cake while he chose a bread pudding. This was ridiculously good! Probably, the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten in the U.S.! I did not regret a single second to have paid about 100 dollars for this delicious dinner. The restaurant by itself has a nice vibe and the service was excellent. Please keep up the phenomenal work!

Quiet, very good food

By wocaplel |

After visiting the Merchants House Museum across the street we decided to try this restaurant. We're in the area quite a bit and we wanted to try a new restaurant. Misirizzi was very quiet, not very many people eating here, although we were early so that may be it. It should be packed considering the food and service are so good. They give you plenty, the ingredients are fresh and it's not very expensive. We will be back..

Fantastic

By FarAway96937 |

I love Italian food. I have had it in most countries I have visited. I love seafood. This was the best Frutti di mare I have ever had. Before that we had a wonderful plate of cold cuts and some really nice drinks. The Barolo was excellent as was the friendly service with a genuine will to make our visit to this small gem rememberable. I will never go back to NYC without visiting this lovely, small, personal and very beautiful decorated authentic Italian restaurant again. Thank you for having us!

Great food

By Trish A |

A tiny place with so much atmosphere. Great choices for entrees and our waiter was wonderful recommending dishes and wine. We weren't sure on the wine so he had us taste 3 different ones. Great choices . He also highly recommended an appetizer that was artichokes and the 3 of us really aren't fond them but decided to try under his recommendation. So glad we did, it was fabulous. This is a small cozy restaurant but would highly recommend it.

Lovely small Italian place

By Seneca1201 |

This is just the type of place you hope to stumble upon while wandering the streets. We were able to walk in on a Saturday night about 6:45pm without a reservation. Lovely atmosphere - long and narrow and pretty. Food was delicious and the rose wine was fab! My pasta primi dish was somewhat small compared to my dinner mate's, but tasted SO good! She had gluten free pasta and I couldn't even tell.

Burnout Gusto

I can only reiterate what the other reviews have already said. We take friends here when they come to visit as well as venture out on our own. Came here many times before the new owners and they have certainly maintained the quality in every way.

Little gem

By Andy |

We stumbled across this little gem whilst in our vacation in New York. Based in The East Village area, it is easy to walk passed this unassuming restaurant without even noticing it. We looked it up on Trip Advisor and liked the reviews so thought we’d give it a go. We were very impressed by the friendly welcome we got as we walked through the door. We had no booking but they had a table available so showed us through the narrow bar area to the rear restaurant space. It is small with only space for about 20-25 people. We ordered some olives and a bottle of prosecco to kick start the evening. They kept the wine in an ice bucket and kept us topped up. We both ordered the spaghetti for primo course and the steak for secondi. Both courses were excellently cooked, pasta was aldente and the steak cooked medium rare as requested. The service was light hearted and pleasant all the way through. The ambience was very cosy but when all tables filled later on, the room did become noisy. Overall we were really impressed with the service and food. Whilst the setting was lovely, the noise of all the chatter slightly overshadowed the ambience hence the 4 stars.

Inventive cocktails

By TracyOfOxford |

We stopped in four drinks before a show we were saying at Joe’s pub. The space looked very inviting. The drinks were very inventive and delicious. I will certainly be stopping back in here on my next trip into New York City!
