Excellent food, great service (Destiny, our server, was very professional and also attentive to an allergy requirement), very clean, somewhat pricey but that was counterbalanced by their great quality. A favorite of locals.

We had been here a couple of times in the past, food was excellent service was ok. This last time service was AWFUL. The food was just ok, but the service was one of the worst dining experiences Ive had in NYC The maitre was beyond stuck up and rude. Ive left 100s of reviews in my life. I never leave a bad one, assuming restaurants can have an off moment but this experience was beyond terrible.

PROS Excellent food, awesome service and right price. Good place to explore Peruvian Food at high level. Recommended CONS Absolutely nothing Absolutely recommended

The start is often a predictor of how it will continue. We arrived and I ordered a mezcal based cocktail. The bar tender returned saying that they had run out of house mezcal so it would be an extra $3 on a $21 cocktail to use the next one up. I'm sorry but if you run out, its on you to provide what's on the menu, even if it is a slightly more expensive bottle. This is the first time this has happened to me with other venues saying "hey, didn't have house so upgraded you at no cost". Then my husband orders a white beer. What arrives looks like a lager so my husband says "hey, I think this is the wrong beer". Bartender says "no, that's the correct one". So we get online, find a picture of the beer and he then says "uhm oops, yeah, wrong one". So instead of spending 2 hrs and a lot of money on a leisurely long lunch, we split after trying the tuna/watermelon ceviche which was more watermelon than tuna. Can't understand the rave reviews for this place as was pretty much a gong show.

Fabulous food, attentive service and a lovely atmosphere combine for a great dining experience! Don’t forget to try a pisco sour when you’re there.

This Peruvian restaurant truly deserves its Michelin star. The food, drinks, ambiance, and excellent service combined to create the perfect night. They offer local Peruvian beers and quality pisco. The rocoto ceviche was also amazing. I definitely recommend this place!

I visited the restaurant on July 28th – 2023, with my family to celebrate Peru's anniversary. Considering that we do not live in New York, we traveled to the city to spend the weekend and visited the restaurant from which we had received good references. After we were placed at our table, we were in a section of the restaurant very close to the speakers which were at maximum volume and was hardly be heard or talked at the table. Well, because it was the anniversary day, we tried to adapt to the atmosphere of the restaurant. We open the digital menus on the phones and the captain of waiters/servers Raul (from Chile) approaches. In his attempt to explain to the whole table the suggested dishes, no one at the table heard him because of the high volume and my wife asked him if he could please re-explain the dishes recommended by the Chef. And it is when the maitre in a rude and disrespectful way reply: it is not my fault that you do not listen if you are not attentive because you are with the cell phone. In fact, no one heard anything he said because of the noise of the restaurant. At the table we were surprised by the disrespectful and rude way we just heard. We replied to the employee that how was it possible to answer in that way. Everybody had their phones in hand because the menu is digital. When he was reproached for our disagreement, he excused himself by saying that he had had a long day and he has a sore throat (?) at that moment. I told him that he could not answer on that way and that he should take care of his work. Then he left and the other waiters arrived at the table to apologize for the situation. All this happened at the beginning when we had not even ordered. Because it was already past 10:00 pm we stayed in the restaurant, and tried to improve the experience, but was not the same. Finally, when we request the check, we were surprised that at the side table they were also complaining about the attention of the maitre because he was charging dishes that they had not ordered. A night that we thought would be special, being in a beautiful city, ended up being an unpleasant experience with a disrespectful employee. His role as "captain" for the other waiters/servers definitely is not for him.

The place deserves 10 stars only because it allowed us to dance until late at night, taking possession of the iPad with Spotify which played the music inside the club... Jokes aside, Peruvian cuisine of the highest level, with refined dishes, quality ingredients and excellent presentation. Efficient and helpful staff, set in a context that is not particularly spacious but still welcoming and typical. Truly recommended.

Mission Ceviche used to be my favorite restaurant at all times, because of that I proposed to my friend's to go there for NYE. A big mistake. We paid $225 per person, the food was not good. It came to our table cold. The server forgot to bring our dessert and when he finally brought it, the ice cream was completely melted. He never came to our table even to refill the water. They included a 20% tip on top of the $225 we had paid. I had one drink and my friends had 2 and we paid almost $1000 for a horrible service and food. I was so embarrassed because I was the one who suggested to my friends there saying they had amazing food

Excellent food! Great food in impeccable Peruvian tradition. Cannot miss any of the ceviches (that is why you’re there!) but my faves were the tuna tiradito (delicate, silky) and the mixto clásico. The crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer was great: crispy and delicious. The mushroom maitake appetizer was amazing: tender, juicy, tasty. And the crab cake was excellent: moist, full of flavor, crispy outside, soft inside. We were there for lunch so did not have a heavy meal, but will go back for dinner! Oh, And the pizco sour maracujá was great!! Staff was very sweet and attentive. Loved it all.

Food, Service and ambiance makes it an unforgettable experience. Fun place with good vibes and great food! Highly recommend

We didn't want all six the table-only menu, which is why the friendly and competent service recommended a selection of starters and main courses that took us perfectly into the variety of Peruvian flavors. Every dish was very well prepared and tasted excellent. New York prices but you don't regret a dime.

Amazing Peruvian restaurant!! We had dinner and drinks at the bar.. and Jesus, the bartender, is the BEST!!, gave us the best service and he made us our night unforgettable. We will come back!!

We visited Mission Ceviche in the Upper East Side and ordered: Yuca Fries: A+ (crispy and flavorful. Excellent, perhaps the best I’ve ever had) Nikkei Ceviche: A (So fresh and flavorful. The “tiger milk” was top-notch. But the portion was too small!) Halibut A Lo Macho: B+ (the Peruvian Seafood Sauce was the star) Sweet Plantain: B- (decent, comes with goat cheese) Green Salad: A- (fresh) Service: B (efficient yet not communicative) So ultimately, I loved the yuca fries and the ceviche. My one qualm: the entrées are too small… give me more food!!

It's in the name. They do command a pretty high price tag but it's definitely worth it! We ordered the fois gras special (off menu, appetizer) and it just went up from there. The mixto ceviche was superb, as were PULPO AL OLIVO (grilled octopus), the arroz con mariscos (paella), lomo saltado (filet mignon), etc. Even the brussel sprouts side was amazing. They do have small plates - very small. But the dining experience was truly amazing. Would be coming back again!

Amazing flavors, a mix of South American and Asian. Everything we ate was fantastic. Service was great. Maitre D’, Carlos, was very attentive. Loved the great take on tres leches.

We stopped in for just drinks so we bellied up to the bar and selected two different pisco sours, one passion fruit and the other mango I believe. Both were excellent: plenty of pisco sour flavor came through but the added fruit flavor made them even better. Service was very attentive and helpful at the bar, even though the restaurant was bustling with activity and no one had any spare time.

I went back recently with friends and still love it!! The classic pisco sour is perfectly done. Must try: all the ceviche combinations, especially the tiradito, and the pulpo. The crab cake appetizer delicious. The ají de gallina is tender and really yummy. The salmon although more expected was delicate and well executed. The tres leches delicious. we loved it there: good service, fun ambiance. Will go back soon!! :)

Great ambiance, fantastic cocktails and even better food. They succeed in blending Peruvian techniques and flavors with high end ingredients. We had a group of 6 so we shared dishes and while we enjoyed them all the yellowfin tuna tartare, seafood mixto, rock crab cake, octopus anticuchos stood out. By the time the entrees arrived expectations were raised and the limo saltado, arroz con mariscos and special Dover sole delivered. Capped it with a special desert for sharing in a goblet filled with inventive deliciousness. We enjoyed ourselves thanks to @chefjoseluischavez, his kitchen and service staff!

Excellent dining experience. Large table for our group of six with ample room. Delicious cocktails and cocktails. All order the five course tasting menu, with two ceviche courses, octopus, loma saltado, and a soursop mousse. Delicious. The non meat-eater got a delicious fish entree. Service was attentive. Pierre, the sommelier, acted like a captain and did a strong job overseeing our table.

Never having eaten Peruvian, this restaurant was an adventure- we enjoyed the whole experience. The pisco sours were delicious, and all the dishes were tasty. The service was good- the whole team seemed to work together. The only drawback was the noise level- so loud we couldn't communicate. If you want something different and delicious, try Mission Ceviche.

Wow! This is an outstanding restaurant and experience! The Peruvian food is absolutely true to Peruvian flavor, dishes and adds an element of fresh and modern approach. We enjoyed the lomo saltado (filet was perfect!), aji de galina — true to the native dish with panache, and a special fish that was expertly prepared at our table. The yuca fries and the garden tomatoes were amazing! Our server Gio was fantastic and our service was excellent! We will absolutely be back and look forward to dining again at this wonderful restaurant. The flavors … wow!

The best flavors . We could not believe how amazing everything tasted—we pretty much licked our plates clean. We went for lunch and had a great time. Amazing atmosphere

I requested to be seated at the bar by the maitre’d noting we were only there for drinks and appetizers. There were two open seats. The Maitre’d insisted he had a nice table available multiple time although I stated there were two open seats at the bar. We we were led to a table outside. Although there was a heating lamp outside the door was continuously opened by patrons and my companion was dripped on a few times by rain. Also there was one couple seated outside who had a similitude experience vi also witnessed the same happening to a group of four tabard occurred well after we we seated. Also of concern was certain ethnicities or the appearance of such was the norm outside.

Peruvian morsels made with quality products and served in a cozy place whose staff makes every effort to serve diners very professionally. The best ceviche and shusi

Lively restaurant. We did not have reservations on a weeknight, but they were able to find us a table. Typical New York City prices. Great menu with many fusion choices.

Innovative yet classic and delicious! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone planning to visit NY

Amazing food! Fresh and authentic!! Is a definitely a Must! Service excellent, food delicious, welcoming atmosphere

The food was delicious, but the attitude of the owner of the place was very unpleasant, pointing at our table and sending a waiter in a contemptuous manner to tell us to remove a bottle of water from the table. With our family we like to try these types of restaurants where we travel and we had never had this situation, in addition "the owner", a supposed Frenchman, did not have the professionalism to make the request to his client. Of terrible taste.

Wow, this was great food. If you're familiar with Peruvian food (and you should be - it's really the BEST!), these are amazing renditions - the Aji de Gallina and Lomo Saltado were FABULOSO!!! The pisco sours were delicious, and the ceviche, oh, the ceviche.... Perfection. Fresh and simply delicious. Portions were large, and the service great. My husband noted that even when singing happy birthday for customers (there were two such occasions) the staff seemed so enthusiastic he actually thought they were part of the celebrants' families! What a fun time we had. I'm embarrassed to say 3 entire hours passed in the blink of an eye, we were enjoying ourselves so much. The poor waitress could have had another seating, but never made us feel rushed. Sorry for hogging the table! What a great place! Will be back next time I'm visiting my daughter in NYC and both she and the friend we brought along have already made plans to go back - it was so good and so fun, too!

Great place, excellent food, but pricey for what it is. Awesome presentation. The food is really delicious: but is just expensive. I mean to carve $28-31 for a plate of appetizer ceviche at a regular Peruvian place is steep. Also I found the music even during lunch hour yo be too loud. I have been there before and it’s a fun place, great ambiance on a Thursday or Friday night. But please loud music for lunch? Not quite the vibe. Turn it down a notch… read the clientele. And let’s lower the prices on the menu a bit.

I’ve been a few times now but my last visit was a huge disappointment. Food is still good but side indoor dining annex is neglected and unattractive. They threw it together to make more money. Feels like 2 different restaurants. One has a cool bar and open kitchen vibe while the other has visible dishwasher machines in the back and bare white walls with green leaves stapled on them. It was not a nice dining experience. Also watch your bar bills- sketchy up charges when they think no one is looking. It’s too bad— this restaurant still serves good food but they are putting profit over customer experience.

Went to Mission Ceviche from the recommendation of our Peruvian Uber driver. We had the $115 Prix Fixe menu of 6 courses including octopus, tuna, and ceviche. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was perfect. Pierre was very attentive and made the experience even more special for us. Highly recommend!

We had high hopes for the newer restaurant and it was a very disappointing experience. We have been to Peru and Argentina so we’re hopeful the ceviche and asado would be amazing. It was not. The quality of the fish and meat were not great. Sauces had good flavor. Also it felt like a fast food restaurant as the dishes fly out of the kitchen being delivered too quickly to enjoy a nice dinner.

The food was amazing, but I am taking out a point for service. We had to ask 4 times for our drinks which came after we finished with the 2nd of our 5 plate chef’s tasting menu, also very expensive.

Had been waiting to visit this place for months and the chef was kind enough to put together a little tasting menu for me: three of their most popular ceviches (tuna and watermelon with ginger foam and flowers is a MUST), plus the whole roasted branzino for my main course and their superb chocolate mousse for dessert. Started the meal with Cuzquena (Peruvian beer) and then enjoyed the Pisco Sour, both of which were delicious. My server Johnny H was friendly, professional and super attentive without being intrusive and his recommendations were on point. Highly recommend!

Excellent Peruvian food. We ordered the tasting menu, and there was nothing we didn't like, there were 4 dishes and dessert. The perfect service, the cozy atmosphere, very well decorated and the excellent room service. They have bartenders making cocktails, which are amazing. A wonderful place on the Upper East Side

Great food; impeccable service, but also welcoming and friendly; music and fun environment! One of the best nights in New York

I want to begin this comment with the good that happened for my wife’s birthday night, the food was stupendous, cocktails were stunning, no one can doubt about the quality of food and drinks. But, I don’t recommend this place unless you have tons of patience, their reservation platform or system is out of control, we booked a table for 3 people at 9:15pm, after we arrived the host told us that it might be a “slight delay of 20min” we agreed to wait that amount of time, which was converted in 1 hour and 15min of waiting because they were so overbooked that there were no tables available, by the time we tried to leave it was to late to find another spot unless you go to a Mc Donald’s. That long wait diminished the whole experience of looking for a nice time with your partner to a nightmare you don’t want to live again. We appreciate the compliments but that is not all.

Check your Receipt Well before you hand in your payment. And for anyone planning a large party celebration at Mission Ceviche look for a more reputable establishment otherwise, you have a big chance to get swindled by experts !! I had a party of 25 guests (not a small deal) with a fixed cost proposed by the manager (Carlos) at $ 95 per person, plus service and tax. You would think that is already a steep cost just for food in a B-type Restaurant. Well, my surprise came at the time they presented the check with a 40 % increment to our agreement. Mind you that alcohol and drinks were billed separately. Of course, they came with bogus explanations and that’s probably what you will see if they reply. Carlos is not a trustworthy person, unfortunately, he has the blessing of the owners, which says a lot about the way they choose to run their establishment

We had 2 cocktails and 1 dessert that was the size of 2 tablespoons. Cocktails were ok - pisco sour was tiny and average. Dessert was mediocre. Bar tender was pushing the third friend to drink a cocktail rather than soda water until I told him to back off. Bar stools were really uncomfortable. Each cocktail was $18 and dessert $16. Total cost - $70! Definitely not a place to go for a drink or dessert.

I went there with a friend at the bar. We had a gin and soda and it was triple than what it normally is. Not worth it, way too expensive.

Outstanding experience! My friend & I were treated as VIP Guests! I am a traditional New England meat & potatoes girl - not certain this was my kind of place.. Chef Jose Luis Chavez challenged me to enjoy the full flavor of his dishes so I did. My friend and I shared braised leeks, octopus, scallops Capaccio, Aji De Gallena, fried plantains & for Desserts Tres Leches & Mouse Orange Granita.. OMG oh so good! The scallop dish (ceviche style) was my favorite! I can’t wait to go back & share this restaurant with my family the next time we all meet in New York City! Also, you must order the Pisco Sour - I typically don’t order anything with the word “sour” however this signature drink was refreshing and smooth - not sour! SO BE BOLD! STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! COME ENJOY THIS AMZING FOOD! I’m

All my life I have been struggling to develop a liking for food. I was invited to this restaurant by a friend who is a great foodie. After trying the food here about a month ago for the first time, I have been back 5 times and taking family and friends here. Thank you MC team! ♥️ (Ps. Their shrimp tempura is a must try)

We were a group of six family members, our first time together since July 2019. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with excellent food. We did the tasting menu for $95 that included ceviche (outstanding); tuna tartare, scallops, beef and tres leches cake. Everything was delicious and the drinks were also really good. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant but the music volume was insane. It was impossible to have a conversation and I left there with ringing in my ears. It totally spoiled our reunion!

This spot has such cute fish decor! While the menu is small, there is a good variety of offerings and sure to be something for everyone. My filet mignon and potatoes were delicious, even if the amount of "meat" was too little given the amount of rice. My partner also really enjoyed their paella-like dish despite liking mine slightly more and devoured the fossilized corn served as a starter snack. The tres leche was so memorably delicious - the way the dessert was both light n the tongue while bursting with caramel was simply *chef's kiss.* I would love to come again sometime! I'd suggest coming a bit earlier to avoid the dinner rush (around 6 pm) as it tends to get a bit louder and more crowded as the restaurant fills up.
Great vibes and food!
This place has it all! The ambiance, food, and service were all impeccable. The Ceviche was fresh, and their rolls are so unique/fun to try! Definitely coming back
