Try the Soju flight

By Amanda S |

Located in Chelsea Market, this Korean food stop is a decent stop. We split some of the classic ramen and it was okay. The soju flight was the best thing that we sampled. The grapefruit and pineapple soju were fantastic.

Its a Chelsea Market MUST!

By m00ncynthia |

The Ho' cakes are amazing! Infused Soju made in house! Wings to die for! The staff are also so friendly!

Kimchi Brothy ramen are delicious!

By Denise A |

We visited the Chelsea market and although it wasnt my plan to order ramen, I couldnt resist them. My boyfriend ordered them and when I tried a little bit, I also had to order one bowl for myself. I cant describe the taste, but it tastes so good. We both had the Kimchi Brothy ramen and I can recommend this to everybody. The staff is very friendly, you have free wifi and you dont have too wait long for your food. Perfect place to eat!

Uau! That's excellent

By Cronista-xna |

The food is excellent: We tried ramen and dumplings, both were really, really good. On tuesdays you can drink a tiger for only 2$!!! You can sit there!!! (a great privilege in Chelsea Market). If I were you I wouldn't miss it

Tasty, filling lunch with beer and Soju

By Carl H |

Wandered through Chelsea Market with my partner and checked out most of the food stalls and came back to this as she wanted noodles. Well, they did not disappoint! I had the Kikchi ramen and the meat was tender and flavoursome, the broth was warming and for once I almost finished it. She had the Chicken ramen and loved it, even finishing the broth. I also had Kimchi which was tasty. They do flights of Soju and we tried grapefruit, apple and peach and it was hard to choose a favourite! They also serve beers and wines so all tastes are catered for. Last but not least the server was friendly and polite and the service was very quick.

Amazing! Fresh! Comforting!

By mariaportillo |

I would install myself and eat there every day. Their noodles are uncomparable and the kimchis add the perfect bite to each dish.

Ho cake yummy!!

By MeekaGurl94 |

Hands down the HO cake was amazing. I can't say enough about it. It was crispy on the outside n filled with yummy pork season oh so well.

Great Bulgogi rice bowl

By IzzyEdmonton |

This eatery is located near the back of Chelsea Market, next to the taco place. It serves Korean food. We stopped by here for a late dinner. Shared a rice bowl between the 2 of us, as the portions are very big. The beef was very tasty, flavoured well, the poached egg on top was a nice addition. Beware, the kim chi was very spicy! We enjoyed our quick meal here and would highly recommend it if you like Korean food.

Great kimchee and bibimbap

By Michelle D |

I was in the Chelsea Market with 8 other people and we split up to find something for a quick bite to eat. It wasn´t the cheapest or fastest place in the market but the food was amazing! Once I saw the sign for the best kimchee in NYC of 2015 I couldn´t tear myself away. I am a big fan of Korean food and had planned on squeezing in a Korean meal into our New York trip so this was a perfect opportunity. My 3 year old son sat down at the bar next to me and played with some chipsticks and rice. I was grateful that it wasn´t super busy and the staff were friendly and patient.

Not bad

By Draghignazzo |

Ramen is good. We shared one bowl to keep eating at other places. It's not Japan on flavors, but wasn't bad either.

Delish

By allenfam7304 |

We went to the Chelsea Market just so we could eat here! It did not disappoint! The food is amazing!

Home run!

By Nickeeet12 |

Instead of standing in the long line at Los Tacos, I highly recommend trying this Korean spot next door! We ordered pork dumplings to start (delicious along with the dipping sauce). For our meal we got the Bulgogi ramen (no broth) and the classic ramen with pork belly topper (with broth). Both Meals were incredibly flavorful!!! For beverages we chose Tiger (beer) and an Apple ginger iced tea with soju (a type of saki). Speedy service and top notch food. We were very happy that Lobster Place was closed so we didn't miss out on this meal! Would absolutely eat here again.

Awesome Kimchi

By Carlos C |

Last time I had Kimchi was 10 years ago in Korean airlines. It was not bad for airplane food. Walking round Chesley Market my girl and I decided to try something different. Sat at the very comfortable Mokbar bar. Had a great beer, aqua something, shared a Ho cake, which was delicious, then came the Kimshi, basically my girl and I could not stop eating it, it was orgasmic, imagine baby back ribs melting in your mouth combined with an amazing bacon based broth and noodles. It was just .......freaking good. Definetly going back very soon.

I don't really understand all the hype. Better korean restaurants in NYC.

By Suely K |

Food was ok, served its purpose. I have been going to korean restaurants all my life and I couldn't understand why mokbar grabbed so much attention. So I went to try it out. Food is average, at its best. The soup was ok, I had better kimchi at other palces and the tokbokki was unedible. Been there, tried it, will go to other korean joints next time.

Very good!

By Brian D |

Delicious Korean food at the Chelsea Market. We ate here on our last visit to New York. The food was very good and the staff was great.

Excellent food, interesting flavors

By John O |

The flavors here are big and bold - Japanese food with a Korean kick. The small plates were the standouts to me, some seriously delicious stuff. Kimchi ramen flavor was a little intense for me. A fun place to eat in the Chelsea Market.

Asian Korean Fusion Creations...

By EdwardYYZ |

Want an affordable dining experience while tiring you feet in Chelsea? Look no further and enjoy this A-K fusion for some generous portions of a noodle bowl or creative meal plate.

Classic tourist trap

By Adam S |

I ordered a vegan miso ramen soup. Received industrial noodle soup and taste a typical dish soap. An unpleasant experience at all

The best Brothy Ramen of the world.

By Lucas Andrade |

This is a very good staff in Chelsea Marketplace. In cold days you can pick a korean ramen and you can share with your couple as well...It's very good! Very taste and spice too.

Fantastic

By Jane B |

Mokbar is great. The noodles were really good, but the pork bun is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Do yourself a favor and get one immediately. Highly recommended.

Great food - worth stopping by when you're in the area!

By Robert L |

This was my favorite meal while we were in NYC! I loved the kimchi pork belly ramen! I'd go back in a second and we almost did!

Solidly good

By Phil P |

Three of us went for lunch and sampled a variety of Japanese and Korean dishes (ramen, k-fries, bulgogi buns). All tasty, none exceptional. Reasonable prices, quick service.

Great lunch

By cmatt169 |

We went to Chelsea Market to grab some lunch and to do a little shopping. We ordered Ribeye Bulgogi Ramen. Marinated Ribeye triple seasoned seasonal kimchi poached egg and scallion. This was really amazing. Great flavors.

Delicious Korean Ramen

By frograk |

We have been here over a dozen times. The ramen is very good and is very different than Japanese style ramen. It is based on a soupier thicker broth with more egg. The pork slices are tender and melt in your math. The noodles are al dente and delicious. Several different flavors including a spicier version. The chicken wings have too much flour but are sticky and full of flavor. Ice barley tea is a nice touch. Order the side of kimchi. The dumplings are standard fare but are good

A great little ramen place in Chelsea Market

By Maaritin |

We had the 2 vegan options on the menu, a miso soup and a bibimbap if I remember correctly. Excellent food, and a fun little place. Also very friendly service.

The best ramen I've ever tasted

By HugoQuinteroM |

I came to this place by chance, good care. I ordered a classic ramen with extra pulled pork, which was 10/10 recommend it.

Mokbar is a must for a unique NY experience.

By archerclan |

Mokbar is a place we go to with our NY visits. Chef, Esther Choi, gives a fresh taste to Ramen and Kimchi. Each dish is made to order and each bite has its own unique flavor. Vegan options. Lunch menu.

Good Kimtchi, average ramen

By Binky1111 |

We went specially for the "best kimchi in NYC" which is actualyl pretty good. Ramen (bulgogi and bibimbap) were in big portion but not that tasty and probably overcooked.

Awesome!

By imdeb |

My sister and I were exploring New York City and accidentally stumbled across Chelsea Market. There were so many choices there but we decided to eat at Mokbar. It was packed we had to wait for 20 mins but it was worth it! I ordered the spicy kimchi ramen and it was really really good! It had just the right amount of pulled pork, the kimchi soup was not too spicy and super flavorful! Ramen was cooked to perfection, not too soggy and not under-cooked. I actually hope the soup has a stronger kimchi flavor to it because I love kimchi! But overall, this place is a must try! I am now back at my own country and is still craving for it everyday!

Loved it!

By Naissuag |

Fantastic Asian food place in the Chelsea Market. Super service, friendly and attentive. Delicious food and interesting specials; $1 dumplings on Mondays and $2 Tiger Beer on Tuesdays when purchasing the Ramen dish. We LOVED it and went back for more (pleasantly surprised that the staff remembered us). The really busy and interesting kitchen is clearly visible from the bar. When we are next in New York, we will eat here again.

My foodie dream came true!

By ElvisOnly |

I'd been following Mokbar on Instagram for months, dreaming about the amazing Korean dishes pictured there. Such a widespread social media presence in such a small space -- I never would've guessed. But don't despair -- the food will NOT disappoint! On a busy Sunday afternoon we ordered a Ho'Cake and mixed dumplings (1/2 Vegan and 1/2 Halmoni) to go. So fresh, tasty, and gorgeous! When next in NYC we will be back, and I'm not going to shy away from the kimchi....

Average taste in a place that should have been fantastic

By TangoNY |

I was a bit disappointed with this joint provided this place is owned by Chritine Choi who competed in Iron Chef competition and won against one Iron Chef and then proceeded to “almost” win against four Iron Chefs put together! She was a coupe of points away from “Iron Legend” which is an amazing achievement. So I was excited when I got to this Korean street comfort food spot. It’s tucked away inside the Chelsey Market with all kinds of vendors. I ordered two types of ramen, hand made kimchi made by recipe of Christine’s grandmother. The ramens were well packaged and the placed seemed efficient but the taste… well, nothing to write home about. It’s was not bad but nothing spectacular that one comes to expect from such a talented chef as Ms. Choi. Hey Mok Bar, you got to raise your bar!

Stumbled upon greatness

By Kate I |

We stumbled on this place, we where in line at Los Tacos NO 1 and saw this gem. We ordered a few appetizers. Korean chicken wings, super crispy and the sauce was excellent! My husband is obsessed with bibimbap, so he ordered the bibimboppers. Little arancini balls but with bibimbap inside and lots of spicy sauce. They were excellent, we are still thinking about them. Crispy and full of flavor. I wanna Ted to stay for a poke bowl but we were too full. Next time NYC!!!

Delicious classic ramen

By JohnnyBYorkshire |

The Mokbar ramen classic is a delicious staple. Not spicy and very tasty! You can eat there or they will give you a take away and you can eat it somewhere else in Chelsea Market. Go sligthly outside mealtimes as it can get very busy in Chelsea Market. But it is definitely worth the visit. It is also a very short walk to the Highline walk (an old rail track up in the sky with some great views). Just go out the back of Chelsea Market and turn right and you can walk up the steps or go up in a lift.

Lunch in Chelsea Market

By Ricardo Y |

Bulgogi and Bibimbap were both very good, service was really quick and friendly. Kimchi was fresh and spicy. Recommend you try it.

Wonderful find in Chelsea Market!

By Wildwoodatheart |

This is a terrific little place for lunch! We found it while wandering through Chelsea Market. We were expecting to get take out and to have to go find a place to sit, but they have an area in the back where they will seat you and wait on you. I had the classic ramen. It was delicious! We also tried the cold Miyeok, which sounds strange. It was excellent! I don't know which one we liked better. My daughter had the BBQ chicken. She enjoyed it. The service was fast, and the prices were quite reasonable. This is a great little place!

SQUEEZE this one in....

By K T |

Chelsea Market is filled with foodie opportunities, and you really can't go wrong with a choice there -- but you can definitely go VERY RIGHT by choosing Mokbar. My mom grew up in Seoul, so Korean food has long been my comfort food, but no one does it quite the way these guys do. I'm a sucker for the bibimbap -- the perfect mix of chicken, pickled veggies, and fresh, crisp veggies mounded over beautiful purple rice -- it makes your eyes happy, then your mouth, then your stomach, then your heart. :) I will say it's kind of shoved back into a corner next to los tacos -- and it's a bit odd to be immersed in delicious Korean food while Mexican fiesta music blasts behind you - but it's all worth it the minute you take the first bite.

Darn good, potential to be great.

By tpsnyderca |

Yes, Esther Choi’s establishment. Friendly prompt service. Food was solid 7/10. Good balance of spice, everything pickled was delicious (kimchi etc). Beef in the ramen was stringy. Perfectly runny egg. Note its counter service in a food court, not sit down. All in all a solid meal. Here are what I think are opportunities: The bao used for the three buns did not stand up, make the contents less “ saucy” or get a stronger bun. The bun contents could also be balanced by something crisp and or fresh, maybe some fresh julienned cabbage or some mint, lemon, lime or cilantro. Lose the cheese on the pork bao. Use a proper braised short rib in the ramen. Again it’s a fine meal but small changes could take it to the next level.

Great ramen

By 35WL |

We stopped here after checking out all the restaurants in Chelsea market and we had a craving for ramen. It's a small operation, tucked in the back of the store. It's a bit cramped-you can sit facing the kitchen or facing the windows. We sat facing the kitchen and it was impressive to see how quickly and efficiently the dishes are prepared. The ramen was well prepared, seasoned just right and served quickly. Service was also very friendly-the waiter explained the menu well and gave us great suggestions.

Eat here !!

By a8420626 |

When in Chelsea market seek out this place for a fantastic lunch with great staff and service. Food is fantastic which arrives in no time at all, go for the ginger plum drink option too ... very refreshing.

Good ramen

By Lorenzo-M77 |

We are two monkeys addicted to ramen. And this korean version is good, but be carefull if you don't like the spicy. We waited for about 15 minutes before can sit at the counter and it was the first day of the 2016, so I think it can be more crowdy in the other days.

Not sure if Korean but sure it was good!

By Christophe B |

An open restaurant in Chelsea market building. You can't really refer to the atmosphere since it's squeezed in between other restaurants. That said, the service was good and so was the food. Quickly served, tasty, original, delicious. The ribeye bulgogi and the classic bibimbap with kimchi were excellent.

Wonderful food with a twist

By Davismamawolfe |

We had a nice little lunch at the MokBar - shared the dumpling salad and fries and it was plenty for two. The dumpling salad was outstanding - loved the sweet/sour dressing and the lightly fried veggie dumplings. The fries were good - especially with the bite of kimchee!

Outstanding!!, best Korean ramen I ever had,

By roberto s |

I can only say, thank you for the food, I try the spicy kimchi ramen and the classic with kimchi on a side, I was tired when I get there and the food was so good that I feel new again and with good mood, that's what I love of a good ramen, the service was also amazing for such a small place in chelsea market, thanks again for the experience, best ramen in nyc so far between the top 5 I tried.

Chelsea Market

By C K Trevillyan |

Bowl of epic ramen. Always wanted to try a ramen bar, I was not disappointed. Fast, delicious, savory, and so full of flavor. Shared a bowl of classic noodles with the wife and daughter. Hit the spot on a cold November night.

Won't make it

By craig h |

Good food, decent prices and great location. Worst service you will find in NYC which is quite the badge of honor. They ignore you at the podium, don't write names down and then tell you a group that arrived after you was ahead of you. Bizarre and inefficient. Won't last in Chelsea market.

Perfectly seasoned

By This Ole Mama |

After debating on all the great options in Chelsea Market, my son decided to try the chicken ramen here. Boy, was it good! The broth was perfectly seasoned and the noodles are just the right balance between being soft yet chewy.

Great Place

By Dream1971 |

Delicious soup and friendly service. We had the ramen noodle and the kimchi dish. Noodles were cooked to perfection. Food came quick and we enjoyed every single spoon. Service was friendly and helpful. Fun too watch everybody cook.

Interesting Korean food

By Victoria T |

Very different food, prepared whilst you wait and really delicious. Although it is in Chelsea Market, the service is excellent, and you can see exactly what is going into your food. Quite a variety of ramen dishes too.

fusion Korean food

By mingwingsing |

Easy and general korean food you can experience here. Great Ramen noodle (budae), bibimyun, kbbq bulgogi sliders, tteokboki.. can be spicy but you will find nice dessert place right next it.

Yummy Korean food and drinks

By Joel K |

My wife got the Bibimbap with purple rice, bulgogi. She enjoyed the food, textures, and veggies and rice. We also shared house made ginger plum and strawberry yuzu ice teas.

Simple, tasty Korean lunch

By stephan j |

More like a takeaway with seating serving good street food. It hit the spot for me. Every dish was well spiced and portions decent. No cocktails but good ice cold Singer beer. Maybe a bit pricy

Wished I'd eaten elsewhere

By RicciF1020 |

The market was packed at lunch and some of the better food stops were packed so I decided on this place. The ordering process was a little confusing because I wanted to sit in. I ordered the classic and was not impressed. It was oily and there tons of pieces of pork fat. The entire bottom of the bowl was filled with bean sprouts. Was very meh and regretted my decision.

Yummy Kimchi

By Ivy Y |

More often than not, Mokbar's limited space for seating will be full, but can get their items for takeout and find an alternative places to enjoy your meal. I got the Kimchi Ramen and it was delicious. The perfect amount of spice and flavor. The Miso ramen was also very yummy. We got our order to go and ate up on the Highline.

Late Night Dinner

By OttawaLinda |

We went to many of the restaurants in the Chelsea Market but wanted something quick and this fit the bill. It was our last night in New York and enjoyed a lovely bowl of soup with noodles, pork and an egg. Lovely spices and good service. Enjoyed some flavored sake and relaxed before leaving to pack for our trip home. A beautiful spot in the charming Chelsea Market!

Good, very good Ramen!!!

By Javier Rodriguez |

It is a very good ramen !! excellent service and speed!!! The place are very good and clean!! Good choice if you bring at Chelsea market!!!

Bacon Kimchi!

By KimLGT |

Fantastic ramen in Chelsea Market. We had a vegan and classic ramen and they were both delicious. I was very impressed with the vegan ramen broth, it was incredibly rich and perfectly spiced. Not always easy to do with a vegetarian broth. The classic was incredible and perfect mix of veggies and pork. The star was the bacon kimchi, I could eat it every day. Fantastic service and oh so reasonably priced. Can't wait to return.

Amazing Food

By BETH C |

Surprisingly wonderful food in the busy Chelsea market. People were friendly and service is great. Highly recommended.

delicious

By swatkins98 |

Loved it so much we went back 2 days in a row while visiting NYC. Had cold Kim chi Ramen and hot Kim chi ramen. Both good but the hot was superb. Hubby had classic ramen and didn't want to share. Dumplings with dipping sauce was amazing. We got to watch chef make dumplings and they were excellent. Absolutely recommend.

Great lunch

By cmatt169 |

We had the short rib dumplings. These were amazing, hot and just delicious. The sauce was perfect. I would say to let them cool down before eating them. I however did not but I still enjoyed them and kept eating them.

We stopped by the Chelsea

By since1985together |

We stopped by the Chelsea Marketplace and choose this restaurant from many. It was fabulous and I’d go again! We had Hocake and Bibimboppers—so tasty and Bulgogi was awesome.

Original and inventive!

By FearlessFoodieChick |

Do you want traditional Korean food? DON'T GO HERE...Do you want something different, inventive and an amusement park ride for your taste buds...GO HERE! Must try...disco fries Mokbar style, fries, ramen gravy, kimchi, cheese, nori...yummm! Bulgogi burgers, great little sliders! The ramen is delish with so many choices to add to personalize it and do not leave without grabbing a bottle of bacon kimchi to bring home..yes, bacon & kimchi. Service is great, sit at the counter and you can watch the open kitchen. Truly a gem at the market

Best dinner we had in NYC

By Sabrina B |

We went to Chelsea market on a Friday night to find a place to get some dinner and were extremely surprised by the complete location. In the end we passed Mokbar and decided to ask how long we had to wait before we could get some dinner. The waiter showed us a seat straight away and was enthusiastic about everything on their menu. As in.. he couldn't really recommend us anything as everything was good. We decided to go for a bowl of ramen noodles, Korean fried chicken and some dumplings. Everything was delicious and super fresh and we definitely enjoyed our meal. We would definitely recommend this place when you're in the neighbourhood and need something to eat!

Korean-Japanese Ramen

By Toreadorable |

Two of us dropped by for a late lunch (2:30 or so) on a Friday. Although the Chelsea Market was bustling, as always, we were able to get seated immediately. The shop has around 20 stools at counters, one set facing the kitchen, one looking out picture windows toward the street. Three or four stools were occupied at the kitchen-facing counter when we arrived, none at the window counter where we were seated. We were immediately given menus and a bit of help working through them by the server, and in no time had orders in for iced Strawberry yuzu and Ginger plum teas, both lovely on a hot August afternoon; halmoni dumplings (pork, zucchini, cabbage, tofu, kimchi, garlic chives) which were beautifully cooked with a crunchy fried bottoms, and a lovely garlic chile sauce; a bowl of mokbar classic ramen, and one of spicy tofu ramen. Both ramen bowls were well timed, with nicely chewy noodles, and spiced just enough to leave a comfortable back-of-the-throat burn after a few mouthfuls. The ramen here isn't what you'd expect from a traditional Japanese operation, but takes that tradition as a jumping off point, segueing into very satisfying bowls of Korean flavor. We'll be back.

If the queue at the Mexican place is to long

By Eline H |

...mokbar is a perfectly good substitute. Or even better.. It has chairs. Lovely food, perfect for sharing. Recommend the dumplings and the meat cake that I don't remember the name of..

Lovely ramen and dumplings

By r0b101 |

really nice veggie ramen noodles and dumplings, We got there for happy hour on a monday (3pm - ?pm) so dumplings were $1 each and tiger beer $3. we left satisfied and happy.

Ramen!

By Lackerfollow |

Definitely recommended by my hungry boys who really know and love ramen! Delicious and hearty ramen. Classic and the service was genuine and excellent.

Great Korean street food

By RudyardKipling |

This was one of the highlights of our trip to New York. We had the Kim Chi, Dumplings, followed by noodle broths. This is Korean food executed brilliantly. The portions are very reasonable so be careful not to over order.

My go to for bibimbap

By aptadpamu |

At the time of my last visit, it was outdoor take-out & delivery only. The pulled pork bibimbap is my favorite dish here with the dumplings and Korean chicken wings a close 2nd and third. I've been here at least a dozen times and Mokbar is a stop I always make everytime I'm in Manhattan. I've never been disappointed. The bibimbap is literally explosions of flavors in the mouth. Never had better. However, I found the hocake to be greasy and lacking in the flavor department even with the dipping sauce. The staff has always been helpful and pleasant.

Spicy delicious Ramen!

By M G |

We popped in for Ramen lunch while spending a few hours in Chelsea Market. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was prepared quickly and served piping hot. Because we had our children dining with us, the server recommended having our cucumber salad and spiced scallions served on the side, instead of in the soups. This was a good choice. They were delicious and we could add the spice slowly and as much as we wanted. We greatly enjoyed our lunches and would definitely return!

Skip the Taco line - head to Mokbar

By MaureenFLA |

Excellent ramen & potstickers. You can eat outside at the tables they have on the street. Food is fresh & tasty. Tasted good reheated too. Will return again for sure.

OMG, I want to eat this everyday!

By Sharon G |

Don't think, just go here, order, eat, enjoy! On a friend's rec, I headed here for ramen-- I ordered the classic and everything about it was ammmmmmazzzzzzing. Delicious broth, melt in your mouth pork, perfectly cooked veggies and crunchy bean sprouts. It was such a huge portion that I couldn't finish it. But maybe that is because I also ordered dumpling because the folks next to me had them and they looked so good. Again, OMG, best dumpling, ever. How will I ever eat the sad things served as dumplings at other restaurants?

Mokbar is great

By Zorro397 |

New found Mokbar by accident while visiting Chelsea Market one afternoon. Chelsea Market is a must see in NYC, however it can be fairly crowded around meal time. We found a couple empty seats at the bar and with the recommendation of a friendly hostess, we ordered a Classic Ramen & a Bulbobi Ramen with a Korean beer and some green tea. The food and service was excellent and friendly. Total bill around $50 with tip and we would definitely eat there again.

Best Ramen

By Volleyvic |

While checking out Chelsea Market...came upon this little gem of restaurant. We tried the "classic" ramen bowl and added the poached egg option. Best Ramen bowl ever! Excellent service if you can get a seat.

Amazing Ramen place in Chelsea market..!!

By Raghu Ramakrishna |

My newyorker friend took me to this wonderful place in chelsea market. Food and the service was great. Definitely recommend this when you are in chelsea market.

A good first impression of Korean food

By mapoh64 |

We had never tried Korean food and MokBar made a really good impression for my husband and I. From the beggining the staff was kind and pattiently help us decide. The look of the plave is nice and comfortable. Plus you are able to see when they are cooking wich makes the experience much nicer. We had a ramen soup chicken and another dish wich I cannot remember the name but was really good!! Made with variety of cold vegetabkes little spicy and with a poached egg on top. Located in the Chealse Market. For dessert we went to the ice cream shop at the end of the Market and had an mascarpone ice cream mixed with hot chocolate.

Good ramen for a reasonable price

By Natalie S |

We stopped by this place for lunch after reading good reviews about it. We had the chicken ramen and regular kimchi. The broth and chicken were tasty, and the kimchi was spicy, just the way it's supposed to be. I will definitely come back.

Great Kimchi

By Aalap C |

Great Korean restaurant in Chelsea market. Excellent Kimchi and great cold ramen soups. Their service is quick and on-point and dishes extremely flavorful

Great and fast service

By Camille R |

Very nice lunch ! We didn’t wait long, and everything was good ! We took the bimbimbap with tofu, curry katsu, fried chicken and vegan dumplings. Gochujang is tasty, (for ppl who like spicy I would rate it 3/5 on the spicy scale) overall very good bimbimbap. curry, dumplings and chicken are also amazing. I recommend !

GOOD

Mokbar at Chelsea Market

I stumbled across Mokbar while visiting the Chelsea Market. It's right next to Los Tacos No1. I grabbed take out Kimchi Raman soup - it was delicious.

Korean fusion on another level

Who knew ramen, disco fries, mandu Mondays could be a cool thing to do at the chelsea market. I loved everything about the food. Disco fries out of this world. Soju sampler who knew! !!! Impressed!

Slurp! This food is so delicious!

By TheCulturedPalate |

Chelsea Market has a plethora of great dining choices -- but don't overlook the small Korean ramen shop. The food was so well made and spiced perfectly. It was a treat to eat at the little bar, watching the chefs work their magic and slurp that delicious broth. The staff is friendly and it's full of happy diner. I can't wait to go back....maybe tomorrow....and the next day and the next day.

Great for first timer

By Elizabeth M |

Frist time having Koren, staff was very friendly and helped explain the meal. Recommend the beer and wine combo beverage!

Tasty Korean food

By Erfelisss |

Excellent Korean bar/restaurant located in Chelsea Market. To get a table/chair in busy Chelsea market is not that easy at lunch time but we were lucky enough to find a table and three stools at this Korean/Japanese food place just by accident. It looked good and offer some shelter from the hustle and bustle of fellow tourists and travellers. The food was really delicious, two of us chose the Ribeye bulgogi and it was excellent, we added as extra topping a mouth-watering pork belly, not that cheap but every bite was worth its price. You can get drinks from the same place or get a refreshing drink from the Mexican across if you want to go for the Asian-American combination.

Korean noodles

By Juan Carlos F |

I dont know much of korean food, I just recently discovered and so far I love everything I have tried. This time korean noodles. I had the army noodles and I was surprised about cheese in an asian dish but it was very good. They said it was very spicy, but I think it is mildly spicy. We definitely will be back there again

Very good food!

By Letty0 |

Wanted to try out the food options in the Chelsea market, and since I was eating solo, hoped to find a place with a bar/counter. Mokbar gave me all of these solutions. Had to wait about 15 minutes for a space at the counter. Noticed lots of other people eating solo. Ordered the pan/fried dumplings and the Bulgogi as the main course. Loved watching all the action as the chefs prepared the food right in front of me. The best dumplings ever! Enjoyed the Bulgogi. Would definitely return here for another taste of Korean food!

Perfect and typical

The Good Vegetarian Ramen Options Keep Coming

By DancingCarl |

This recent addition to the Chelsea Market offers a fine Korean Vegan Ramen with a mild miso broth, fried onions, seaweed, scallions, bean sprouts, fried tofu and a nice hot sauce on the side. It is not as good as the wildly popular Totto Ramen, but a close second.

Great Asian Eatery in Chelsea market

I got the bulgogi beef bowl with extra garlic spinach over rice (you can have most combination with either noodles or rice) and even though it was a bit pricey at $23, it was a flavorful and filling bowl. They also have an excellent happy hour with small bites and discounted drinks.

Excellent Ramen and Cool Market Atmosphere

By Steven G. W |

I found this place via Eater's website and YouTube channel so I knew that when I hit up NYC for the Tribeca Film Festival I would have to make a trip here and boy did they not disappoint. First off, the Chelsea Market is a busy, exciting market with a whole host of different places to eat. The Mokbar manages to stand out even amongst such stiff competition. I had the original ramen and I didn't know the etiquette for finishing all of the broth in public. I risked public shaming to get that last drop, it was that good. Five stars don't do this place justice. It deserves six.

Awesome bibimbap

By Jasonleg |

Was visiting Chelsea Market and saw Mokbar at the back of one alley. The staff are super friendly and quickly welcomed and seated us. I am wheat intolerant and they kindly made veggie bibimbap which was so tasty (even better than Korea!). One of those tasty experiences.

A MUST

Placed in the middle of a very hectic Chelsea Market, you expect deliciousness. This however, took it to a whole new level. Again and again, this bowl of ramen is my favourite meal in NYC and worth the wait. Just amazing. Service is not exactly great but you don't even care because the food is so good.

Excellent, very nice Service. Short waiting times, very good price-quality ratio. Highly recommended. Thank you again.

Awesome spicy ramen

By Jack F |

This place is inside of the Chelsea Market, in front of the Tacos truck. There's no much seating space as it's just a bar, so it's not recommended for large parties. But seating in the bar is awesome as you can see the chefs making the ramen and other dishes. They have several types of ramens, I ordered a pork one. You can also add extra ingredients to your ramen; I added extra noodles. The ramen was DELICIOUS, but very big. They have other dishes too that I couldn't try...

Top Choice in Chelsea Market

By James S |

There are dozens of great choices for lunch in the tourist and local infested Chelsea Market, but one of my top choices is Mokbar. This is a ramen and rice bowl place with a Korean theme. Service was good and quick. The the food delicious. The Kimchi was some of the best I’ve had anywhere, including Korea. The dumplings were perfectly cooked and tasty. While I had a rice bowl, my dining partner has the traditional ramen. And his was the best dish. The broth has deep layers of flavor and all the vegetables were perfect and delicious with just enough meat to keep it interesting. We left sated and happy. While there are lots of choices at Chelsea Market. This is mine. I’ll be back.

Delicious as always

The Market was packed so I ordered the Ribeye bulgogi to go. The steak was melt in your mouth tender and went well the the rice noodles and spicy kimchi. I then walked upstairs to The High Line and found a quiet place to enjoy lunch.

Bulgogi!!

By NewTraveler96 |

One of my favorite bulgogi's that I ever had. It's a must try in the chelsea market right across from the taco place. I didn't eat in here as it's too crowded and tight but worth to bring back to your hotel room.

th restaurant is located in a mall thing and its very cramp so its not worth it to bring a big group to this lcation, the sliders are out of this world, even though the place is small and frustrating the food is amazing and you will forget you are in tiny spot.

Delicious find in Chelsea Market

By medatsu |

Happened upon Mokbar through a happy accident and was not disappointed! Great for a very casual dinner. Crispy rice cakes were excellent and so were the dumplings. My Bibimbap was absolutely delicious and actually rather beautiful. So many vibrant colors in one dish. Overall, loved the flavors - just the right amount of heat in each dish. Service was on point and everyone in the kitchen was friendly. Only recommendation is for them to expand the drink/cocktail list. We were not impressed by the Soju drinks.

Cold ramen was good

By FlyAtNight |

This review is for the Chelsea Market location.. I've never even heard of cold ramen before, but Mokbar features it on their summer menu. On a hot and humid August day, it was a refreshing and not too filling lunch / snack. I tried the cold seafood ramen. It was served with shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, cucumbers and kimchi sauce. It was perfect for the day.

Solid modern Korean spot

I really liked Mokbar though the ramen the least. Maybe just didn’t like that particular broth as I wanted more flavor but the pork on top was outstanding. The chicken wings are good. The dumplings solid and loved the rice cakes.

Great food and wonderful ambiance

We stopped into this fantastic food court called The Hugh. My wife found Mokbar. A Korean option. She ordered Bibimap with purple rice and Bulgogi. She also ordered a Housemade Iced Tea Ginger and Plum. Her food was tasty, yummy, not to spicy and good. The tea complemented the food.

Nice way to start on Korean cuisine

By SeanOden |

While visiting the Chelsea Market I decided to try Mokbar (there is a 'breve' accent above the -o-, I didn't take time to find the character in my typeface). It was a tossup between this Korean place and Los Tacos 1 right next door. I almost went for the tacos (which I read good things about) but landed on Mokbar, in part because I know little about Korean food and decided it was time to start learning. The restaurant is in a small space (like most of the establishments in the Market), with barstool seating and some small spaces at the back (I didn't look very closely). The server was very friendly and service was efficient. From the small menu I landed on the ribeye 'bulgogi' ($15). I'm not sure what the significance of the quotation marks is, my understanding is that this dish features marinated beef. It was served with kimchi and a poached egg with scallion. I chose ramen noodle to go with it, but rice is also available. I added a Kloud 100% malt real beer, which I gather is a popular Korean beer. The meal came out quickly. It was an interesting combination of ingredients. It did not seem very hot or spicy. It was very enjoyable and about the right amount for a not too heavy lunch. The cost was reasonable, and I thought this was a good way to get started with Korean cuisine. I'd be very interested to try more Korean dishes. I would recommend Mokbar to anyone interested in good food, and I would gladly go back and try some more items on their menu.

Wasn't a fun

I had the cold beef noodles and I thought it was ok...I thought the beef tasted more like tuna to be honest, the whole thing was rather fishy. Maybe that's normal for this type of noodles, but it was just a bit of a weird combination. Also quite expensive I thought for what I got.

Amazing ramen

So delicious! Located in a back corner of Chelsea Market but worth it. Food and service amazing. Almost didn't write a review to not let the cat out of the bag!

Excelent ramen in strong broth

By marianavahalova |

located inside Chelsea Market, right in the middle. Classic ramen with veggies, mushrooms and meat. For 13USd, you can add anything for 2usd on top - I love the poached egg. No option to place order over phone, but order takes about 5 minuts. Quick and delicious. Very strong and good quality indrediences. They have veggie options and some cold ramen too.
