Worst Restaurant Ever !

By Sonia B |

I decided to pick this spot for my husbands birthday, and called a week in advance to make a reservation for 12 people. We were all very excited and arrived at Mole, only to be told that because it was raining, they have moved all the tables indoors and therefore our reservation has been cancelled. After arguing a lot, we were seated at a tiny table. The server and host were unapologetic and had no regard for my husbands birthday. The waiter yelled at us several times throughout the meal for no purpose, they lost our order and we had to reorder 30 minutes later, and the wrong food came. Finally, when I approached the waiter to bring dessert and a candle for my husband, he said that the kitchen had closed (which they didn't tell us about) and that there was nothing he could do. Unapologetic and horrible. I would never go back here or recommend this place to others. My worst restaurant experience ever.

Great happy hour after late afternoon stroll on the highline

By KHoffmanL |

Good guacamole and margaritas. We had the enchiladas with the mole sauce. Noisy with good energy. Overall, experience and food was enjoyable.

Great Meal

By MsCecile |

Wonderful meal, fresh and abudant plate of wonderful flavors. The service was prompt and gracious. I would definitely return for another meal. I sat outside on a lovely weekend evening. I was lucky to get a table. Also, I found the prices very reasonable considering the amount of food served.

Guacamole and Margaritas

By Polat U |

Definitely a good spot for lunch or brunch... I have tried guacamole, nachos and quesadilla with margaritas of course and left happily on a very cold sunday. Friendly, casual environment and a good service. Worth to try if you are around the area.

YAAAAAAAAAAAY!

By Nick P |

Just perfect, set in the Meatpacking district, lower Manhatten, service was perfect, food was amazing, and generous portions. A lot of eateries in the area were closed, we were looking for a certain steak house at 3.30pm, but it was closed, and thank goodness...I would definitely recommend Móle for a dining experience

Noisy, lively place with upscale, good Mexican food

By jbgshrink |

We live in the area and went early for dinner as they don't take reservations for less than six and this is clearly a popular spot. We first had Margaritas (and were pleased to hear that at six fifteen it was still "happy hour" and that specific drink was half price). With our drinks we had their guacamole, which was delicious. We then had two different entrees chosen from their enormous menu. We had shrimp tacos which were very generous and good and the flounder, which came with olives, capers, and onions. Unfortunately we didn't anticipate it being in a red sauce, which in our opinion detracted from the dish but we enjoyed it anyway. We also ordered a side of sweet plaintains which were super good. We had never been here before and will return to try other treats on their menu. The place was very upbeat in feeling. The service was good and one had a feeling that this place was very well managed. All in all, it was a thumbs up.

Great Mexican

By Ajaxphish |

At he end of the HighLine this place is great. Prices were good for the area and the food was amazing. Fresh Guacamole, amazing chimichangas and taquitos. The margaritas were really nice, though very expensive. Atmosphere was eloquent. We had a great meal.

Delicious

By Melbran |

Fun place. We had a great meal of Shrimp with a garlic sauce, carnitas and guacamole. Happy hour margaritas were good too. Nice area.

Delicious GF Mexican food

By Rossichick |

We ate here as we wanted authentic Mexican food & we weren’t disappointed. The guy who served us was really helpful with GF options and the nachos we shared were delicious. The corn tortillas I had with fajitas were so light and it was nice to be able to eat that dish in a restaurant. The portions are large but the food was tasty, would recommend.

Great Yummy Food

By keshort78 |

This restaurant was very close to our hotel and was easy to walk to. We had the salmon tacos and nachos. The food was delicious and the staff were wonderful.

If nearby & Mexican sounds good, stop here

By travelwhenIcan67 |

Walked by, then back to as looking at the plates of those eating outside looked appealing. Hubby enjoyed happy hour beer, boys loved free chips/salsa & huge burrito & enchilada. My tamal was very good (not may places make because they are labor intensive). Efficient service. So if in the area & hungry, esp for Mexican, stop in.

Ok

By David W |

The food was good, unfortunately the margaritas were mediocre and the service lacked servility ... out seating was nice

¡Muy Bien!

By jeff6 |

Consistently fresh food, gracious service and fairly reasonable prices. My third trip there in the past year, had the grilled shrimp tacos and shared guacamole and chips -- all of the food was outstanding!

Nice!

By Katenka87 |

Fabulous staff: caring and eager to help you out. The food was really great. I took two tacos. It was tasty even if i would have put a little less salt in it! But I had the same pb in Mexico! I definitely recommend.

Amazing Mexican with really cool atmosphere!

By LNT66 |

There are many places to eat Mexican food in NYC, however finding somewhere with the edge on the others is difficult as many of them are good, however this is excellent. The atmosphere is low lighting, comfortable, friendly and efficient. Nice wait staff, cute and polite. The food is plentiful, so consider sharing appetizers, especially the guacamole. Main courses are well presented and of excellent quality. The fish dishes were particularly popular with my fellow guests although the beef dish I had was wonderful, the meat literally melted in my mouth. This is obviously a very popular restaurant, with queues forming outside, so either get there early or late or be prepared to wait on weekends....

The Best Guacamole

By Tess B |

This is a must see on your trip to NYC! They have the best guacamole I've ever had! The taco salad was excellent! We did not order any alcohol, but the ones I saw looked really good. This was my second visit to this restaurant and I will definitely be back!

average

By Heida Bjorg |

I expected better food, it was okay but nothing special. The service was slow and forgot to bring the vine for example. Really absolutely not spicy.

yummy mexican

By B.L. |

excellent Mexican food - from the guacamole, to the tacos, the spinach salad, and the drinks. Can highly recommend it, surpasses other places in town by far. great little lunch place

Nice food, but do not even think about talking you would not hear a thing!!

By Maria R |

This might be a good place to go to on a weekday. You may get better service and you might even be able to talk to the person you're dinning with. I went there on a Friday night, too loud salsa music was playing. I asked repeatedly if the could lower the music. The did for about one song, then we asked again, the said they do it for he atmosphere. I think they don't really want you to hangout longer than you need to eat your meal. So, do not expect to have a nice, quiet and calm meal here.

Great mexican food!

By sondrenorway |

I would really like to recommend this restaurant. They have great food, huge portions, nice service and ok prices. The nachos with two different types of cheese and guacamole is the best I've ever tried!

Must visit!

By Jane Stokes |

This place is like real authentic Mexican food. It’s not fancy but it is very traditional. All of the staff, the food and the drinks were all great! We tried the mojito and caipirinha to drink, then we had nachos (with guacamole), shredded beef enchiladas and chicken fajitas between the two of us. We would 100% go back and both agreed that this is one of the nicest Mexican restaurants we have ever been to. Definitely give this place a try!

Great guacamole!

By Tkaull |

Went here with a few friends. The guacamole and tacos were really good, and they go great washing it down with a margarita!

Perfect night for a Margarita!

By WeeYin24 |

Service was excellent and we took the advice from our waitress on what to order and we were not disappointed. Washed it down with a margarita (or two) and it was perfect. Sat outside watching the world go by. Great little spot, great food.

Best guacamole ever

By Stefan K |

A small christmas pimped Mexican restaurant. We ordered the home made guacamole as a starter and large burritos as main course. Everything was really good and we got loads of food. Next time I will have a small burrito as it’s more than enough.

Fantastic food

By teacheronholiday |

We stumbled upon this place in west village and were very glad we did. The guacamole and tortilla chips were fresh and plentiful and the chicken and vegetarian fajitas absolutely delicious. It's got a laid back vibe and we felt unrushed and welcome. We would definitely go back if we were in the area again, highly recommended. The bill for three with 3 very large sangria and tip was about $140

Just Awful

By dan11md |

The food is a badly executed unimaginative americanized Mexican food. On top of it, loud and cramped.

Great food and drink

By Pam A |

Excellent food and drink. Very reasonable prices for the area. They did lose our reservation (14 people), but moved people around to accommodate us - just had to wait 30 minutes.

Tasty Specials and Painful Jalapeños

By AKGwalt |

Went to Mole during a drinking holiday and was seated very quickly. Drink specials were good and extremely reasonable ($5-$7 margaritas) but the pours were a little weak. Meals were priced as you'd expect for the city ($15 tacos - $24 on the higher end sizzling dishes). We had the fresh made large spicy guacamole as a group and it lasted a fair while between the 5 of us, but you might need two if you want something to munch on during the entree. The meal was topped off by a buddy downing a large Jalapeño ... this wasn't the friendly variety. I don't recommend the peppers to the faint of heart, this restaurant's philosophy doesn't pull punches. These suckers were HOT.

Crowded and noisey

By beachgirl5514 |

It is hard to enjoy dinner when the tables are so close and you can't have a converaation. Having said that, the fajaitas were delicious and so was the guacamole. The beer prices are way too high even compared to other NYC restaurants. I would return only if it was a beautiful evening so I could avoid the crowds inside.

Fabulous tacos and great ambience

By anjarella |

I just love this place - their tacos are fabulous, the barkeepers are very friendly, service is great and the place has a great atmosphere. They do great guacamole and the margaritas are dangerously good. It might be packed and noisy, but for this type of restaurant that just adds to the atmosphere. Could go there every week.

Hip & Fresh Mex!

By Ruth D |

This was a great spot for lunch in the West Village. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed a couple soft tacos (carnitas and the other pork which I can't remember the name). The enchiladas were amazing!

Great place!

By helwel |

A New Yorker recommended this restaurant to us, as his favourite. We started with Margaritas and they were just as Margaritas should be, but better! Then we had Chimmichangas and Quensilladas. The guacamole was the best I ever tasted. It was not grinded to a mass but chopped into small peaces with lots of taste and a little "chunk". Fantastic! Also the salsa sauce was great. I can´t find out anything bad at all so say about the restaurant. The staff was really friendly and nice too. I love to get back to Mole soon but living in Sweden makes it a little difficult.

A little taste of Mexico

By Amber D |

This is a cute spot that is clearly very popular . We shared the guacamole, it was the freshest nicest one we have ever had with a spicy kick. We also had the taco salad with chicken and served in a pasty dish plus a salad with goats cheese croquettes . Plus all washed down with fresh lemonade . Well with a visit.

Great guacamole and tasty tacos!

By Bi-coaster |

We enjoyed a very good lunch here beginning with margaritas and fresh guacamole which we followed with their chicken and pork tacos and a quesadilla. Good choice of fillings for the tacos and portions are ample sized. Waiter was helpful and efficient. Would definitely return.

Good Mexican & drink specials

By Sarah R |

The happy hour drink specials are great and all of the drinks we tried were delicious. The guac and queso appetizers were delicious. All of the tacos that came out were great, my only complaint was on the Chile Rellenos. They were good but a little bland. The sauce had no flavor and the stuffing was also a little bland. They weren't bad but just not what I was expecting, they could have been much better.

Oyy where to begin

By Peter Y |

This place is hilarious, I love Mexican food and especially enchiladas with mole sauce. This place is very basic on the scale of flavor in food and then you get the bill and its ridiculous! enchiladas are like 27 dollars...there are so many other better Mexican spots nearby that you should be going to. That being said the cocktails are great and the service is stellar as is the guacamole. Everything is just heinously priced and management really do not care about your experience.

Fish Tacos Ahoy

By dunmeister |

Love the location, the food and ambiance of the place. One of my favourite restaurants in the West Village.

Satisfying Mexican fare!

By Bi-coaster |

Every time we dine here, we have their guacamole and it remains some of the best i've ever had! This time I also sampled the enchiladas and they were excellent. Their red sauce is deeply flavored and complex, while the green one has high notes and an almost sour echo. I prefer the red. Smartly, the accompanying rice and refried beans were presented on a separate plate and were just fine. Mostly I ignored them since I'd indulged in the guacamole first. Popular place and tables are very close together it being NY.

Good food, disinterested service

By Dave14221 |

We went to this restaurant on a Sunday evening. We were seated right away. The tables are tight, as other reviews have stated. We got the fresh guacamole, and it was tasty. They had enchiladas with either enchilada sauce or mole sauce on the menu. I asked for one of each and was told by our waiter that the kitchen wouldn't do that. Not sure why that was a difficult request, but apparently it was. My companion got the short rib pork soft tacos. They were decent. The wait staff was adequate, but not warm or friendly or welcoming. Our waiter was polite enough, but spent a lot of his time socializing with the rest of the staff in the restaurant, and it really seemed like he was just going through the motions. We got the sense he didn't care whether we had a good experience there or not. We probably won't come back here.

OK Mexican restaurant

By peterandbrenda_10 |

We quiet enjoyed our meal here, but didn't think it was a top notch place. Tables were tiny and it is impossible to avoid hearing every word spoken by the people next to you. Food was ok, service good, but don't expect anything outstanding.

Worst Mexican restaurant in over 20 years

By webberz |

Worst delivery experience in over 20 years in the West Village. $100 for 2 people (one dish we were charged for and didn't order, one dish never arrived). Pork dish tasted like salted cooked rat. As for the mixed grill, hard to tell if it was shoe leather or actual food. Never again. Avoid at all costs.

Best food. EVER

By hihi_11 |

I'm not going to write a long review. I'm just going to say if you want the best mole sauce in NYC go here. I go every single time I visit and it's amazing every time. It has quite a reputation among locals as being some of the best food in the city. It won't disappoint!!!! The owners mother makes the mole sauce, just amazing.

Good place for margarita and mexican food

By SMOKESTACK |

We stopped in here after walking by the small patio and seeing big portions of guacamole on the tables. Service was average and so was the food but we didn't try anything special. The people around us seemed pleased with their tacos and the menu is fairly extensive with burritos, enchiladas etc.. I didn't see anything unrecognizable on the menu which suggested it was pretty standard fare. Nothing wrong with our experience and the place was really busy although it was pride weekend. I'm sure you can do far worse for mexican food in NYC but its a very basic mexican restaurant.

Our appetites were KILLED while dining at Mole on Jane St NYC due to exterior powerwashing and exhaust filled dining rm

By KatRedNJ |

Date of visit: 4/26/24, Time: 12:10pm My husband and I popped in for lunch at the Jane St location. We were seated immediately. Dining room was empty except for a family of 5 who entered just before us. Decor was pleasant and appropriately Mexican in theme, but the music that was playing in the dining room was in conflict with the Mexican theme. We each ordered a glass of wine (wines are not listed on the menu and there is no wine list - you just have to ask your server what they have). We later learned that a glass is $16. I had the Cheese Quesadilla with grilled chicken, and my husband had the Burrito Bowl with additional avocado. We received our food within 15 min of ordering, and everything was going well UNTIL we started smelling a STRONG odor of gasoline. My husband got up from the table to see if he could locate where it was coming from. He said the back door of the kitchen was open and he confirmed the strong odor of gasoline which he thought was car exhaust. Then he walked out the front door of the restaurant and he saw these guys pouring gasoline into a power washer (which they were using on the exterior of the restaurant building). He went back to use the restroom and saw there were water hoses extending outside from a door. The entire area was consumed in petroleum fumes and loud noise. By this time the entire dining room was filled with fumes and I was feeling ill. We asked our server (Pavoo N) to help us move to a table outdoors in front of the restaurant so we could finish our meal because it was such a toxic environment inside. Apparently this must be a regular activity that goes on there because our server didn't make any apology or attempt to stop the power washing. There was also no evidence of a senior manager to take charge of the situation

Overcrowded, loud, and expensive – What fun!

By Michael C |

I’m sorry to disagree with some reviewers here, but I echo some of the complaints of others. I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at Mole, where I went by chance with a couple of female friends. When we arrived, the place was crowded and we were asked to wait for 15 minutes at the bar. As we had a drink and some guacamole, I had to get up several times and actually walk around the corner of the bar so that waiters could bring food to those seated behind me because the tables in this place are extremely close together. When we were finally shown to our table, it was tiny, even for two people, so the three of us opted to eat at the bar. However, the music became so loud that we couldn’t talk. I asked the bartender if he could turn down the volume, and he said “What?” I told him the music was too loud and he agreed, saying “that’s why I’m going deaf in this job.” He said the owner would not let staff turn down the music, even at a customer’s request. Fortunately (or so we thought) a larger table opened up near the front door. When I went to settle the bar tab, I was stunned to pay $75 (incl. tip) for four margaritas and a small guacamole. After being seated and looking at the menu, we tried to place our order. The waitress kept asking us to repeat our orders because the music from a speaker placed over our table was so loud. She denied that the music was too loud, so I asked why she couldn’t hear me even though I was shouting from a foot away. One of my companions just wanted an appetizer, but the waitress convinced her that the portion would be too small and that she should order two. As it turned out, the appetizer was substantially larger than indicated and my guest only ate one. The meal was impossible to enjoy due to the loudness, the constant jostling of people walking past our table, and the burst of cold air that hit me whenever the front door was opened. So we basically ate quickly without talking. I was so upset that I did something I haven’t done in many, many years: not leave a tip. So while I’m sorry that my annoyance got the better of me, I won’t ever return to this place, even though the (oversalted) food was decent.

Great food but a bit costly in the end

By Renee R |

This restaurant has some of the best Mexican in the city, but there are many extra hidden costs that they don't share. For example, I asked if I can have my fajitas mixed with steak + chicken, and it was $8 extra without him telling me. Which doesn't make sense as chicken is cheaper then steak. $5 for chips and salsa which I assumed was included when you sat, $2 for extra sour cream, automatic 20% for 6+ people. Great food but the staff should give notice of these costs when ordering.

Solid

By prodman |

Good Mexican food, though not spectacular especially given the options of authentic home-cooked and/or creative and trendy. Enjoyed the meal though. Good for the price for sure.

So busy, but sitting at the bar gave was entertaining

By Blellum |

After meeting some friends we decided to head back to the hotel, and then realised we needed to eat! So a 5 min walk and we came across this little gem. They managed to squeeze us in as there was just two of us, but we had to sit at the bar - this was great. The bar man/waiter was very funny and kept us entertained throughout the meal and drinks. I would have paid just to listen to his quips! Food is excellent, a huge selection.

Authentic Mexican Food

By MarchAdvisor |

Very nice place with brick walls and pretty tequila bar. But the best comes when you sit down and order: not only the most handsome and kind waiters on all New York City but also the most stunning Mexican food in town! Absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I missed was frozen margarita in a pitcher... but the normal ones it the glass were very good as well.

Excellent Mexican - the real deal

By CulinarySnob |

Wonderful flavor infusions in all the entrees we tried. From tacos to chimichanga to carnitas. tortillas are all a signature blue. Guacamole prepared table-side from fresh ingredients, and to your specification. Margaritas made from scratch, with a lime seasoned salt. Yummy!

The best fajitas I have ever had!

By Katie C |

Loved this spot on Hudson & Jane. We sat outside and were seated quickly. The service was friendly and prompt. We ordered the fajitas to share and asked for combo of steak and chicken. The dish was loaded with both- so plenty for the both of us. The margaritas were yummy too!

Best Mexican ever!

By MRG46 |

We just walked in on a cold night not even know what type of a restaurant it was but had an amazing meal washed down with some really special tequila. Thoroughly recommended

great food and great service

By cat24s04 |

we stumbled across this place and would now deliberately seek it out on our next visit! the food was fresh and really tasty and the atmosphere was great. Mexican food is always a winner but this was some of the best we have had.

Excellent Mole at Mole

By Hassan A |

Good food, amazing mole enchiladas, very friendly service in a cozy corner of one of Manhattan’s most charming neighborhoods

Tequilas galore!

By zvoomb |

The perfect place for a huge choice of tequilas, a fresh margherita and so many Mexican tapas with fresh ingredients, to be consumed ideally on the terrace. Guacamole is not to be missed, it comes into a beautiful black stone bowl. Service is excellent and very friendly.

Hidden Gem

By Firemedic720 |

We stumbled on Mole while venturing to another Mexican restaurant. From the outside it looked authentic and inviting. Perfect size and great staff. Sat at the bar and enjoyed delicious drinks and the most amazing guacamole I have ever had.

Authentic Mexican

By Gatagorda I |

I live in Mexico 6 months out of the year so am particular about my Mexican food. This place was EXCELLENT!

Worth a visit if you like Mexican food.

By aztraveler62 |

This restaurant is on a corner near many activities. We stopped here after visiting the New Whitney Museum (a must see). It is very quaint inside and the bar is so charming that I had to take pictures of it. We went during an off-time, so it was not busy at all. We ordered a variety of things so that we could taste as much as we could since this would be our only visit here. The most memorable items were the guacamole and their fish tacos. If you come with a group of people, order the fish tacos as an appetizer to share. The portions are HUGE and everyone will get to taste it (so delicious). We happened to be their during happy hour and enjoyed a delicious margarita. We were there with someone who lives in Manhattan and they said that this is known as a great "date" spot. They do have tables outside, so if the weather is nice, I would sit outside and eat, drink, and people watch.

Visit the Brooklyn location!

By caro v |

Since we stayed in Williamsburg, we checked out the Mole @ Kent Ave, just off the East River. Friendly staff. Late night. Wonderful food. You might even think you are in Mexico, if you close your eyes. Since I am a "mole"-addict, I have to compare this dish with my previous Mexican tastings. And I must say, the Mole at Mole is excellent! Spicey enough, chocolaty enough.... the chicken soft and tender. Of course I am just speaking of the Brooklyn kitchen since, unfortunately I did not have the chance to compare this with one of the other NYC locations. If you are a Mexican foodie, take a trip to Mole!

Seriously tasty food, really

By tpembert |

Seriously tasty food, really fresh flavours. El Yucateco hot sauce on tap is definitely a plus point! Good atmosphere, staff were really helpful

So good!

By mmcbDenver |

Every meal I have eaten at Mole has been fantastic. Their table side guacamole is exceptional as are all their entrees. It is a lot of food so be prepared to take some home or be stuffed. (good stuffed, though! ) Service is always good, too

Best guacamole!!

By Annie A |

Best guac I've ever had. Margs are pretty good. LOVED the service. It's an adorable area of town to visit. Highly recommend!

Every time I come to New York, I HAVE to eat here

By alvanto |

I was just in New York last week, visiting family, and we went to Mole. Again. We can't help ourselves. People I know who "know" Mexican food in the city always tell me that there are Other Places that have better food, or a better atmosphere - but I always politely smile and nod. I LOOOOVE this restaurant. I love the atmosphere, I love the decor, I love that area of town it is in, I love the outdoor seating - I love in indoor seating!- and of course; I love the FOOD. I personally think the food is outstanding, and my favourite thing is to watch the guys make the guacamole in front of me. For some weird reason, this doesn't happen every time - don't know why - but when it does, it is like a show to me. And don't forget to raise your margarita glass and toast the happiness of enjoying a wonderful taco or fajita or whatever you want to eat... Ole for Mole!

Fun, Good Food!

By Alexandros C |

Fun, easy with really good Mexican food. Huge portions and great drinks. A don't miss when in NYC and looking for a good Mexican with great vibe! Love it!

Best Guacamole

By Food & Fun! |

This amiable restaurant is off-the-beaten path, tucked away in a quiet, very charming neighborhood. The service was great and the food was fantastic. We ordered the Guacamole as an appetizer and it the best I've ever had. I could have eaten just that and been very happy but my main meal was also full of flavor and I would definitely eat here again next time I visit!

Great food good value

By Jbo369 |

We were with our family of six. We had an excellent meal. Don't miss the guacamole. It was amazing! The sangria was good and portions were large.Yum.

Happy hour is very good.

By Silverfox213 |

Very loud, food was very good. Wait staff could be friendlier. Tables a little to closed in.

Outstanding Mexican

By deanosExpress |

Shared a couple of fantastic and memorable meals here when travelling in NYC, a must try in the funky precinct of Greenwich. Really enjoyed the service from staff and their cool attitudes, they also went above and beyond to help us enjoy our meal. I hear its a local favourite and when I head back to NYC this is going to be one of the first restaurants I visit. I very much enjoyed their burritos with rich beef filling I also went with some avocado freshly served and a couple of spicy margaritas! You must try Mole.

My experience

By Coco D |

The food was good but I waited for EVER to get my food , I was honestly about to just leave but other than that it was good 👍🏽

Great

Fabulous food, great surroundings, quick and friendly service. Relaxed atmosphere, amazing margaritas. Will definitely be back, highly recommended.

PÉSIMO SERVICIO

By Karla D |

I’ve tried to have dinner there two times but service is unacceptable, rude and not welcoming so I had to walk out both times. They should train their staff or at least know they don’t seem to care about customers. Specially the bold guy serving

Great Surprise

By Mike S |

We recently spent four days in Chelsea in NCY. On our first day I asked my wife what she wanted to do for dinner and out of no where (we're in NYC for heavans sake) she decides she feels like Mexcican. I pull up Tripadvisor and find reviews for Mole in the East Village. However we are staying at an apartment in Chelsea which is a little north and on the west side of downtown. I notice there are several locations for Mole including one in West Village only four blocks from us, so on a Saturday night at 6:30 we walked over with no reservations. Fantastic experience! We got lucky because the place was busy, but being NYC we must have been a little early for dinner so we were seated immediatly. Twenty minutes later and it would have been a much different seating story. Stephen our, waiter was prompt with both a smile and menus. We both didn't know what we wanted to drink and I'm not a Margerita fan. Stephen suggested the Sangria. We both said yes, and after taking our first sip...WOW! This was not your average Sangria. Delicious and it had a nice kick. (we came back for happy hour two days later just for the Sangria, but that's another fun story) The food was excellent. We both shared the made-to-order guacamole and it was very good. Then I had the Carnitas, pork chunks with pico de gallo and salsa verde and my wife has Carne Asada, marinated and grilled skirt steak with a cheese enchilada. I don't know which dish was better. It do know that the portions were generous and as authentic as anything you will find. This is not american mexican. Yum! I give this restaurant, (can't speak for the other locations) five stars because of the service, drinks, food, ambiance and price point.

Good food and delicious drinks!

By E G |

Some friends and I enjoyed their delicious passion fruit margaritas! I am somewhat of a margarita snob and really enjoyed these because they were well balanced. We also enjoyed their delicious guac and I was definitely satisfied (trust me I grew up with the real stuff in Mexico). I was not extremely hungry so I ordered the quesadillas made with corn tortillas, Oaxaca Cheese and I had one with Huitlacoche (black corn mushroom) and Tinga (shredded pork in a chipotle type sauce). I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful they were. One of my friends ordered the huevos rancheros (it did not look as appealing as my grandmothers) but she said it was okay. My other friend ordered the carne asada tacos and she loved them. This is definitely a fun place to enjoy chips, salsa, guac, and plenty of drinks. It the day is beautiful they do have outdoor seating.

BEST SANGRIA EVER TASTED!

By maren509 |

great food, great service, love the locality of this. But my favorite was the Sangria, best I ever had!

Non-picky Eaters will be pleasantly surprised

By HenryNYC |

Wonderful place! Be flexible and relax, and the food and drink and ambiance will calm you down even in this area of the Manhattan. Foods come in good portion, so it is advisable to order one and share, which makes it more affordable as well. You can try order wines from the menu, but our waiter just brought over something like what we ordered but not "exactly" the same. They go well with the food, so it is what it is.

Okay food, crowded space

By wongwashington |

This spot is fine. Food is ok. Margs are pretty good. Not great value. Outside seating is the best feature.

Great Food, Good for birthdays!

I had the taco salad. Very good!! The corn on the cob also looks fantastic! My friend and I shared their famous cake. Very sweet but tasty!

Popped in on a sunny late march Sunday afternoon and was able to get a table for 4 inside. Loud lively and close cramped tables but no matter - the food and table service are fantastic. Nice varied menu. We started out with the BIG bowl of Guacamole Fresco. The picture doesn't do it justice. Nice spice- not too much not too little, bit chunks of avocado and a touch of lemon. I had the two braised tender citrus pork carnitas soft tacos ($19). Dining companions had the enchiladas. One person had the appetizer Quesadilla with shredded chicken and when it arrived - it looked big enough to be called an entree. Delicious!

Very Complete Menu

Nice place with a Mexican environment, nice decoration and confortable with the Mexican touch of service, you can find food from very different places of Mexico without American food taste, service and attention is timely and friendly, if you don't know about Mexican food, ask Miriam, she will love to recommend something according to your tastes. great tequilas, flautas, mole, quezadillas, everything very clean and delicious.

Weird seating experience

By X375IEelizabethg |

We went here around 5:00 on a Saturday, and there were many open tables. The waitress wouldn't seat us because one person from our party was running late, even though all of the tables were sitting open. Finally we got her to do it - it was just a little weird. Great happy hour deals, good margaritas, food was good.

Average

By Hammaker |

We didn't think that this restaurant was anything special, pretty much an average Mexican. The food was good on the whole though. However, their burritos are huge - too big in our opinion - it was like something from Man vs Food! In contrast, my main course seemed quite limited in comparison. The atmosphere was good though, and it certainly seemed to be a popular restaurant.

Great themed restaurant

By mrchunky |

Great selection of dishes and drinks. Speedy, friendly service. Quiet at 5pm but then quite busy by the time we left. Quirky decor.

Lunch specials

By LoladeTiburon |

Mole can get really crowded at night but for lunch I found many open tables and no one at the bar the day I was there. It was sunny enough to be outside at the small sidewalk seating area out front. I wasn't looking for a big meal and found plenty of smaller plate options on the lunch specials. I saw a lot of people going for the two-taco plate ($12) while I was there. I love Oaxacan food so chose the Oaxacan tamal, which was fresh, moist and perfectly steamed. The salsa that came with it had just enough heat to it. Eating on my own, I chose to sit at the bar instead of a back table, so I had a chance to ask the bartender about their mezcal selection, which was small but had some really good choices. They offer margarita specials at lunch and those also looked to be a popular choice on a sunny Friday afternoon. Their Happy Hour stretches from 12 - 7 for anyone with some time on their hands. I appreciated that the staff didn't rush me, and didn't try to offer me extra food or anything else to pad the bill. With so many overpriced places in the meatpacking district, Mole seems like a good reason to walk a couple blocks south where both quality and value are in good supply.

Superb and tasty food

By Carley P |

The service was spot on and the food was just delicious. Serves are big - two of us ordered fajitas each and could have easily shared one meal. The tacos were great. I had a glass of red and it was a decent amount in the glass. Small restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We happened to score a mild evening last week so we ate outside. Definitely recommend.

Can be pricey but definitely good

By ctrlbru |

If you take care of what you order you shouldn't have surprises. Cocktails are a bit pricey, the place is small and it's better to book in advance. But... I had a great burrito (17$) with good fresh guacamóle on the side (+3$), tip is 20% and automatic. 4 (big) burritos, 1 fajitas, 3 beers, 1 margarita, some tortillas,170$ tip included.

Great Mexican food

By SarahC1321 |

8 different meals and cocktails, all delicious. Something for everyone. The guacamole deserves a special mention. Really busy, good atmosphere, well priced. Try it!

Fantastic Mexican food

By Frank K |

Delicious Mexican food....we had the sizzling fajitas and they were amazing. We also had the speciality pork dish which was also lovely.

Cute spot. Good food

By Maureen H |

Stopped here for lunch and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Pozole on the recommendation of my server. It was delicious. Wait staff were friendly and attentive.

Great cozy Mexican restaurant

We stopped for lunch with the kids. Guacamole is great, had tacos carnitas, very good! The place is super cute and decorated nicely for Christmas. Very cozy! Definitely recommend

Decent Mexican at a reasonable price

By Firenzejo |

The last few times I have been stateside the Mexican food is more texmex - you need 2 hands to lift your enormous margarita, the guacamole has been puréed to within an inch of its life and to borrow from Billy Connelly the rest is the same just folded differently. That's why Molè was a pleasant surprise. I was alone so sampled only the guacamole (delicious and uber fresh) and the Mexican style quesadillas - heavy going but yum w chicken. The margarita wasn't bad either! The music is on, with the beat pumped off and the volume with it - so avoid if you have elderly folk in tow, otherwise you could do a lot worse in my view than have a neighbourhood dinner here. I'd definitely go again

Mole Satisfies My Mexican Craving

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

I've visited Mexico quite a few times but can't claim to be more than an amateur in terms of Mexican cuisine. I do know what tastes good, however, and the food at Mole hits the spot. The menu is extensive. The guacamole is terrific - and really zippy if you order it "hot". My quesadillas and enchiladas were excellent on my most recent visit. The flavors were clear and satisfying. The place was full of people who really seemed to be as happy as we were. If you like Mexican cuisine, which can be all over the place in quality, well, Mole really knows their stuff. Check it out. I think you'll be very glad you did.

Great service and huge portions

By restlessaussie |

We went as a large group for a late lunch and I arrived even later and placed my order when on the run to the restaurant. I looked up the menu and ordered and didn't realise until later that the tacos al pastor were not on the lunch menu - but never mind, the excellent waiter arranged to make them for me anyway. Blue corn tortillas, absolutely stuffed full of pork and with pineapple, cilantro and onion - delicious. It also came with guac and beans which were super tasty but not needed! could have shared the meal between two, it was so large. The other bonus was he kept it warm for me and just put it on the table as soon as I sat down.

Best guac ever

By Lisa O |

Best guacamole ever! And the margaritas were delish! Had a meat dish with a variety of meat including chicken, skirt steak, sausage, pork... Then tortillas, rice and beans.... Outstanding!

Excelente!!!

By junebugsrbig |

My friend and I had dinner here on a Friday night. We were able to get seated right away but the seating is TIGHT! It is NYC so this is to be expected. It just tough because the tables were very small. Once you had drinks, chips and salsa, appetizers and then dinner, we were constantly rearranging stuff on the table. Plus they seating a very large group too big for the table size next to us (8 at a table for 6). Aside from that, the food and the service was on point. Waiters and servers were friendly. Food was delicious. The entree (we had fajitas) had tons of food. Good experience...would definitely come back to try other items.

Best margaritas and great staff

By sonalim |

What a find!! Great margaritas and most important, great customer service! Had one of the best margaritas in the city at this restaurant and the food was awesome! Staff is so friendly that one would definitely want to return to this wonderful restaurant.

Best veggie Mexican food ever (and super service)

By Kirsty2005 |

Myself and my husband came to Mole for a quick lunch ended up staying for a few cocktails. The service was great, the staff were really friendly and helpful giving good and cocktail recommendations. I had the veggie soft tacos which was the best veggie Mexican food I've ever had. We definitely come back one day!

Great Food, Great Margaritas

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

We were hungry for some different food and remembered how good Mole was when we visited several years ago. It still is. We had a perfect Sunday lunch, including superb guacamole and a totally satisfying margarita - it was Sunday after all! Good variety of well-prepared Mexican dishes. So many "Mexican" restaurants in the US specialize in large blobs of undistinguished food. This place offers really good cooking - like what we have had on many trips to Mexico. Check it out. Come hungry. Have a margarita. Chill!

Fabulous food, vibrant venue.

By Robfoolery |

The food is so gorgeous here that it's easy to over eat. The place is lively so don't expect a quiet dinner for two. The food is everything you'd expect from Mexican food; hot, spicy, full of gutsy flavour. The staff are attentive and friendly. We had a great meal.

My wife wanted Guac!

By Sean M |

Four of us went to Mole for my wife's birthday dinner. She wanted fresh guacamole. I'll tell you what, they put the FRESH (and Mole) in GUACAMOLE! It's made right there at your table as soon as you order it. And it's delicious! Two people in our party had the tacos...chick, pork & steak. They loved em. One of us had a burrito. It was huge. Unless you're eating for 4 people yourself I wouldn't suggest getting the Grande Burrito. LOL. I had the chimichanga. I think I was the only person who was a little disappointed. I'm sure it was a typical chimi, but it wasn't anything like the chimis I've had other places. I'm not saying it was bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting. But I still ate it & it was very filling. All in all we enjoyed Mole & would def come back here again the next time we're in NYC. PS...it's not far from Chelsea Market so plan on stopping up there before or after your meal. It's pretty awesome.

This was our plan B for lunch and I'm glad it was

By Pennryan |

Authentic Mexican Cuisine in the heart of New York. Portions were more than generous order less than you normally do. Guacamole is made at table side by the wait staff right on the spot from all fresh ingredients. Highly recommended as it is also extremely reasonable and family-friendly

Not more than tasty guacamole

By Hermanadelviento |

We had very tasty guacamole to start with. Otherwise I only can say that the waiter seemed to want us out of there a soon as possible. Food was OK. Not a friendly place.

service needs improvement, mainly kitchen speed

By susannaa2000 |

found this cute little mexican place while walking around. Food was tasty, prices were high for mexican food(but this is new york city) and the service was mediocre, very tight seating, but this is common in the city as well...i enjoyed my shrimp tacos and my friend enjoyed his enchiladas....not sure i would go back because it was so expensive but i would suggest to anyone in the area who is looking for mexican food

Excellent Mexican food and drink near the High Line

By ron c |

We came off the subway and wanted to stop and grab a bite to eat before walking up the High Line. It was hot in July and we stopped by Mole. Busy outside and some tables inside. Guacamole was awesome. Margarita was good. I had the blue tortilla fish tacos which were excellent. Small inside but the wait staff was ensured we had what we wanted. Definite recommend for friends, couples, business meetings and more!

Who needs Chipotle & Taco Bell, when Mole brings Mexican food to life...

By David_Maywald |

Had a weeknight dinner at Mole, and was very pleasantly surprised... The food was fresh, tasty and creatively put together. Great atmosphere, although a little squeezy (and it was cold/windy by the front door). Called before heading to the restaurant & was told that a table would be available with no booking necessary. Then arrived about half an hour later & had to stand waiting for 15-20 minutes until a table was free... Having seen good reports of the fish tacos, we tried them for starters. They were nice, and were served with two deliciously spicy sauces. The delicate flavours & textures of the fish were a bit lost in the generous salad & stronger flavours of the sauce... However, the lamb tacos (with meat from Australia) were divine!! These little bad boys came with both gravy/chick pea sauce along with some delicate chilli sauce that was a perfect match to the stronger meat flavours. The lamb was a little dry & stringy. Surprisingly the desserts were quite good also, and are a pleasantly sweet chaser to the margaritas.

Lovely atmosphere average food

By Marta C |

Place had a great vibe! Lovely service, cute decor. Food was ok, had grilled fish tacos, nice, but wouldn’t rave about.

High-Priced Mexican in a really crummy atmosphere

By NewYorkerluvsKeyWest |

Went to Mole to celebrate a birthday with a friend. Our party of 6 people were squooshed into a table for 4 in a corner near the kitchen. Is dark and dingy in style? Sheesh. That's one of the good points of this dining experience. I asked the waiter if the salad dressing was spicy, and he said, "mild." I ordered nachos as an appetizer and a salad as my meal, since the selections on the menu were all way to over-spiced, even for Mexican. My friends. all of whom love spicy food, all ordered their dishes "mild," and they all complained about the heat. Our table of 6 ordered 2 appetizers, 5 entrees and one salad. Some of us had drinks, and the tab was over $275. So, in conclusion, if you want no room in-which to eat over-spiced, over-priced Mexican food, try Mole.

Wonderful Time, Good Food and Great Drinks

By Bill B |

My partner and I joined two other friends in New York for a long weekend. We stopped here for lunch and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The server was fantastic. I enjoyed the Camarones a la Mexicana (Mexican style shrimp sautéed with fresh tomatoes, onions, jalapeños and cilantro). One person had the Pollo en “Mole Poblano” (Half chicken smothered in our signature artisanal-homemade “Mole Poblano” sauce) and could not stop raving about the Mole sauce. The other two enjoyed Taco Salads. We also thoroughly enjoyed the freshly made guacamole and warm chips. The margaritas were delicious.

A little small, but very good food

By Matt H |

I'm not sure what authentic Mexican food tastes like, but I know what good food tastes like and this place has very good food. The guacamole was the best I have ever had, and all the other dishes were also very good. The sitting is a bit tight, but it was not disturbingly tight. The service was quick and friendly. My party of three left the restaurant full and satisfied and glad we ate there.

Order their Margaritas!

By 920rebecca |

I feel strange suggesting this, but it's true, order their Margaritas. These mixed drinks are quite good. Also, the guacamole is incredible and comes in a fancy set up with nachos and salsa. I ordered the fish tacos and was not disappointed. We went on there a rainy night, so the place wasn't too packed, however, most nights when I walk past the west village location, there's a line out the door, so reserve ahead.

Disappointing Mexican Lite

By BlueNWashington |

Mole is in the same block of Hudson Street in the West Village with a couple other restaurants we like and we've been wanting to give the Mexican place a try for a while. (They don't seem to be open for lunch). Overall, the place was a big disappointment. You would expect a place called Mole to offer a lot of dishes with that particular sauce. Not the case. Strike One Strike Two -- the chips and salsa--chips are not made in house and they were stale (maybe the cooking oil was rancid) AND the salsa was clearly out of a jar and pretty boring. Strike Three - The entrees. One of us ordered Oaxaca style crepes with mushrooms. Waiter returned 10 minutes after the order to say there were no crepes that night (Monday--the beginning of the week), but they could put filling into a quesadilla. So OK, except that turned out to be two small taco shells stuffed with a bland mix of chopped mushrooms and something else. Dining partner order a small plate tamale that was just okay, but probably the best part of the meal. Strike Four - I ordered a Tecate beer (no Dos Eques) which came in a can, but was brought without a glass. Requested piece of lime was miniscule. We had a friendly waiter, but the place lacked everything else. I don't understand how the place survives in a foodie town like NYC. We would never go back..

Stopped by to escape the meat packing crowds

By FancyFreckedFoo... F |

And glad we did. You know one of the first glorious days of spring when every non city dwellers ventures into city in inappropriate clothing. Well it was one of those days. We wanted a cocktail and nosh - stayed for more. Had their lovely house marguerita and guacamole - then moved on the the pastor tacos for me and fish tacos for hubby. Despite the crowd service was fast and friendly. Btw good was great - and I'm SUPER picky about my Mexican.

Good Food and Huge Portions

By Linda F |

We went to Mole in the West Village (Jane & Hudson Streets; they have other locations). The food is very good and the portions are huge! Our table of 4 started with a double order of guacamole, then 3 appetizers (the guac and nachos are great). My husband had the chicken poblano in mole sauce, very good, and I had the beef fajitas. The slices of beef were cut a bit too big for my preference, but the portion was enough for 2 people. One negative, they do not serve margaritas by the pitcher. All total we had (in addition to the guac): 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, 6 margaritas, 1 glass of wine and 1 beer, tax and tip it came to $300. Pricey, but I did take home a doggie bag for another dinner. Next time, my husband and I will share 1 app and 1 entrée.

Delicious Food

By meli13melo |

I went to visit a friend who lives in NY for Labor Day weekend. She mentioned she was going to take me here because they have the best guac. We went there on Sunday for lunch. We started off with the guac and it was amazing! I ordered the Tamal Oaxaqueño and the Nopales Asados. My friend ordered the Chiles Rellenos and her boyfriend got Carne Asada con Huaraches. Everything was delicious. Service was awesome. All the waiters were great, especially Joshua! He made us feel like old friends. Before we left, they had a special suprise for me. My friend secretly mentioned to the waiters that I was in NY celebrating my birthday. Out of nowhere, they came out with a slice of chocolate cake and sang for me :) Will definitely remember this place and go again on my next visit to NY.

Some very good, a shred of ok

By AmericanAbroadAMS |

I was recommended here by my hotel and I would say very pleased. I was in the mood for Mexican. The waiter was very nice and informative, with recommendations too. Since the name of the place was Mole he recommended one of us get it and we did. His appetizer recommendation as spot on awesome. My plate came out a bit cold but they fixed me right up with a new place of hot, amazing food. Very good tastes all around. We had Mole enchillada & shortrib tacos both were super tasty and delicious.

Good happy hour

By martynsnook |

I went Saturday afternoon. Happy hour(s) are 12-7pm for standard margs and beer. Food is great. Plenty of usual Mexican food choices. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Manager was a HUGE disappointment!

By elaTmkn |

Have a great owner -who does not know us at all but welcomed us each time he was there, always great service and one of the best Mexican food. Every time we visit the city, we eat here at least 4 times a week. The last time we went, we happen to meet the manager for the first time (maybe he has been there for a long time but fortunately we have never seen before). The restaurant was pretty empty and we arrived two persons waiting for our company of 3 more. He said he can't seat us until all parties arrived so we waited. After we were 4 people we asked to sit, he said no way. That's a very small restaurant and we had to stand just in the middle of the restaurant as the bar was full. We had to wait for the fifth, meanwhile my husband put his bag on the chair of a table. Our 5th arrived and while we were being seated, we saw the manager pulling our waiter a side and we literally HEARD him saying "Don't service these people properly, don't make them satisfied"... I told him we heard, there was no apology at all, just a murmuring. We left. I grew up and worked in the hospitality industry for long years and feel really very sorry when unprofessionals ruin the reputation that has been built by the owners and professionals.

Fantastic place!!

By jenjenA |

it's a small place and the atmosphere is great, nice and busy. We have sat at the bar to eat the last couple of times and love it - the barman is very attentive and good fun. The staff work hard and the food is fantastic - definitely order a bowl of guacamole whilst you are looking through the menu. our favourite Mexican in NY and we will keep on going back every time we visit.

Best mexican food and amazing service!

By Knightsam |

We went to Mole to celebrate my birthday and our engagement and had an amazing meal!! Food was plentiful and all tasted delicious! I had the blue prawn and avocado tortilla which was to die for and my boyfriend loved his enchiladas. Delicious margaritas too! Our waiter really made us feel welcome and helped make this meal really memorable for us! He was very helpful and attentive throughout our meal. We thoroughly recommend Mole for a great meal and fab service!

Holy-Mole!

By gabeochoa84 |

This place rocks. Cute, small, trendy Mexican restaurant... would definitely say it does have an “American” twist, but not necessarily a bad thing. Had the mole enchiladas... wow were they good! Well flavored, good portions and presentation was spot on. Did have my meal with a glass of the red sangria, and it was a excellent choice. Overall place, food, drinks and ambiance is A+ across the board. Would recommend and be back.

Very good Mexican food in a nice corner location

By Harold J |

We found this lovely restaurant after walking the High Line and getting off on the South end. A lively location with street fairs going on next to and the next block to the South. Saturday and we had the option of lunch outside or inside next to the front window. We chose inside as the day was warming up quickly. A great place for people watching. We tried the drink special and were pleased with the quality and quantity of the margaritas. Every plate of food we saw was beautiful. Our lunches were much more food than we needed to eat but it was good and we did a good job of cleaning our plates. The service staff was friendly, young and attentive. Next time we are in the area we will again stop in here.

yummmmm!

By coopergoblue |

Great Mexican spot! Its small and without reservations we still only waited about 45 minutes...well worth the wait! We had the chicken sopa's ~ very tasty, the small Parilla which is a mixed grill of yummy meats...don't miss it!!

Great value good Mexican

By Rosie B |

Cocktails are great and happy hour is from 12-7 Monday to Friday . Would highly recommend Chicken fajitas and the guacamole

Worth the Stop

By David K |

I walked in Mole on a whim, and what a pleasant surprise it was. You get a good portion of food for the money, and it tasted great. Very friendly staff. Certainly worth a try when you are in that neighborhood.

Mole is more about quantity vs quality

By SaraDISH |

Food is not fresh, service is friendly, but not accommodating. Not much more to say about this place :-( Not good Mexican.

Mole is just a suburban Mexican resto. Nothing special.

By zobeecat3 |

The only resto mistake we made in NYC. This was just not interesting at all. One molé dish, no daily specials, plasticized boring menu, back to the 70's mall food.

OK but nothing to write home about it

By YoshiDus |

Overall nothing good nor bad, just an average Mexican. You can not go wrong here but do not expect culinary delights. Not cheap, especially for a Mexican restaurant.

Absolutely awful

By Essen10001 |

The food here is tasteless and the drinks are subpar at best. The guacamole was decent but that was where it ended. Chipotle has more flavor than this food. Plus, the music is at an insanely loud volume. Forget about conversing with person next to you with losing your voice.

Tight squeeze but delicious food!

By ElyseVH |

We visited Mole with some friends recently this weekend and had a great experience. The restaurant itself is small and tables close together, so perhaps avoid any private conversations since your neighboring table is an inch away. But besides the size the restaurant itself is great! Decor is funny and cute and staff members were kind and helpful. Food was delicious! We all shared apps; everything came timely and tasted great.

didn't like the mole, my veggie tacos were too salty to eat

By r0b101 |

Enjoyed the margarita but didn't enjoy the mole or the veggie tacos. They were jut too salty to eat. We left without finishing our food.

delicious food but very noisy!

By sunflower_girl_7 |

I went to to Mole on a Friday night. We were told we could have a table for 45 minutes. There were 3 tables that were empty. The hostess then changed her mind and said she would find a table for us. She was very friendly and nice but who wants to be told that they have to give up their table in 45 minutes. The food is well seasoned and they have good portions. There is a fantastic tequila selection and the food is very fresh. The only negative thing is that it is so loud on a Friday night it's hard to hear anything. If they could lower the music -cut the volume in half then perhaps the patrons could enjoy the delicious food.

Great mexican and great margaritas

By Yava1983 |

Small, but cozy Mexican resturant. Good food and great drinks. Staff is friendly and serviceminded. Can absolutely recommend the place. One thing i dont like is the "automatic" gratuity charge of (i think it was 20%). But I noticed that has becoma more common in US during the last year (never experienced this before). Well, anyway, the waitor was well deserved of a 20% tip.

Terrible and overpriced Mexican

By josudore |

Worst mexican I have had in a long time -- wait for table was over an hour and our party of 3 was asked to take a table for two (I'm still wondering where we would have put our plates) -- service was terrible -- had to eat at the bar - bartender too busy to do more than put your plate down -- food was cold and bland - definitely not worth the price!

Excellent - Highly recommend

By nameda |

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel in the Meatpacking District in NYC and I could not recommend it highly enough, delicious. We turned up without a booking and only had a short wait at the bar for a table to be free. This is an intimate restaurant with a fabulous bohemian/chic feel to it and the food was both amazing and enormous in portions. Having been to NYC on numerous occasions - this restaurant I will return to from now on every time I visit this wonderful city. Go, go, go!

Best guacamole around!

By Bi-coaster |

We enjoyed lunch here after an absence of several years. The guacamole served in a huge black urn with radish slices and plenty of chips is as wonderful as ever. And we also happily tucked into the Mexican quesadillas which were small folded corn tortillas filled with cheese and a choice of shredded chicken or spicy shredded pork, etc. Paired with a margarita what could be better---yum!

Best mexican food ever

By Pammonte |

My husband and I took a stroll through the meat packing industry and came across this great gem. Nachos are awesome - shrimp was awesome, service a bit slow but overall real authentic Mexican food

Good food and friendly staff

By A. H |

Great place with good authentic Mexican food. We had taco's and fajita's, both dishes were very good. Not too spicy and the quantity was just right. Drinks were also good and staff was really friendly. Second time I've eaten here and will be going back

Best mole north of pueblo

By Christopher |

This is the best mole I've had outside of the dish's birthplace of Pueblo, Mexico. The setting, service, location, and food are great. It's a bit pricey for Mexican, this 4/5.

Fabulous Mexican food!

By Catherine M |

My son and I ate here for lunch on a Monday afternoon and had a fabulous meal!! The guacamole is unbelievable - worth going just for that! The entrees were perfectly sized (slightly big) for hungry people, and the décor charming. The staff was fantastic.

Seriously Good Everyday Mexican

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

We stopped at Mole on a whim - for a weekend lunch. The day was lovely; they offer outside seating; and there was the lure of "happy hour" for Margaritas at noon, yes noon. Why not? Life is short. The guacamole was freshly made and great. The Margarita(s!) were fine too. The food was excellent - what you would expect in style, but really good in execution. We've spent a lot of time in the real Mexico and Mole satisfied for sure. If you go here, you won't regret it, particularly if you have a yen for Margaritas at noon!
