Went into Molly,s about 9pm as it was only two block away from hotel. Sat at the bar and called for Guinness .When it arrived after settling I tasted it and thought I was drinking in St James Gate. It was very good. They did not have any Jameson's Crested Ten( found out later the name has been changed to just "Crested") Had a "Paddy" instead then a "Powers " & Guinness.Nice craic with the barman Liverpudlian Irish .Did not eat there. But when I returned the following evening about 5-30 it was crowded with lots of people eating. A good local's pub was my impression

The catch for Molly's is the decor. It's proper dark and gloomy, with a number of booths and pews up front in the traditional Irish style. Having just come back from Ireland, it seems authentic, friendly, and homely. The food was decent enough (we both had the fish and chips), but really nothing special. Unfortunately, we were seated near the back, which can really only be recommended if you need frequent urgent access to the restroom.

They pour a decent Guinness here too! Reasonably priced for New York. Good vibe to the place. Roddy the barman knows what he's doing for sure. Would recommend.

If you like a REAL irish pub not just in name then look no further. Its dark, its small and loud. Just what pub should be! We found this gem by accident and fell in love with it the minute we walked in. We left the streets of New York and walked into what felt like a neighborhood establishment out side of Dublin. The food is cooked fresh (no freezer here) fries are hand cut, the turkey on the club is sliced from a roasted bird on premiss and the shepherds pie is the absolute best i've ever tasted. Corn beef sandwich is awesome and the burger is a must to try here. All at totally reasonable prices excellent service by a pleasant work staff that made us feel like we were regulars here. Made us want to move into the neighborhood. Were from Connecticut and found a new excuse to go to NYC. Mollys Pub& Restaurant, Shebeen its awesome!

Saw this on tripadvisor and as it was close to our Hotel it would have been rude not to give it a go. Very busy and had to wait 30minutes or more for a table , but as the atmosphere was so good it didn't matter. Good ales and plenty of food and not forgetting great staff.

We fancied a trip to an Irish pub during our stay in NYC and Molly's was recommended to us via Trip Advisor. It wasn't to far away from our hotel in the lower east side and it was worth the trip. The food was good and the portions were huge. We were glad we didn't go overboard and order extra sides as it would have been too much. I would recommend the chicken pot pie! Service was good and had we been in the mood for a night of drinking, we could have quite easily stayed here for the rest of the night.

Wonderful visit after visit over many years to NYC. Eating an entire burger on your own is a challenge.

Great visit to Molly’s on New Years Eve. James & Tara gave us a warm welcome. Had a great round table for 6 of us. Enjoyed our dinner. Fish & chips, roast chicken special, wings, burgers with great wines & beers. Good portions & very tasty. They rang in New Year at 19.00 (midnight Irish time) & gave us hats & horns along with bubbles . This was just brilliant for the younger members of our family. Will definitely recommend to other friends & family visiting New York.

This place is fantastic. Great atmosphere, fabulously attentive staff and food to die for. The staff go out of their way to look after you. A definite must if you visit NY, can’t praise it enough.

They do not have a lot of tvs if you want to watch sports (which we did as the Yankees were playing the astros). The beer tasted fine but it was very pricey. Maybe their food would have won me over but I left. There were a lot better options within blocks of this place.

Full of atmosphere and good cheer. Sawdusk on floor and dark wooden booths. True Irish bar with friendly help and excellent food -- burgers as well as salads are generous and delicious. Great place for brunch or just drinking at the bar while watching TV sports and chatting with folks. Great wood burning fireplace in winter.

Irish ancient pub Mollis, with more than a century of history, is one of the most, so to speak "Irish". After all, in New York you can see a lot of pubs with Irish flags, but not all of them can offer you real Irish booze, but I do not say anything about snacks. At Molly's, you can taste delicious Irish dishes, as well as American cuisine, all kinds of alcohol and, most importantly, the atmosphere! Antique furniture, sawdust on the floor, colorful waitresses, among which you can meet both adult ladies and women in position, for example. Prices are more than attractive - for a dinner for two you lay out less than $ 100.

Met a friend here for something to eat on his recommendation. Really nice place. We got a table and ordered drinks. When our friend arrived I went to the bar to order another drink for our table. The barmaid looked a little bit put out by the fact that I had come to her and not the waitress. When the food arrived it was extremely good, great portions and delicious. I got the burger and my friend and wife both had fish and chips. As the waitress hadn't returned to our table, I returned to the bar to order more drinks. The barmaid said snottily 'you do know it's waitress service?' I replied that if the waitress was to make an appearance then I would've asked her. The waitress then came over, put out drinks down and walked away without a word. I was shocked by this attitude as I have not met a person from Ireland that wasn't friendly. Being from Liverpool, I meet Irish people every day ! In conclusion, food excellent, place great, customers friendly but staff need to keep the chips on the plate instead of their shoulders.

This is not our first time here and we also visited The Paris Café earlier in the day which was a MUCH better experience. We were a group of 16 comprised of two parties and arrived within minutes of each other. One group was at a table and my group was at the bar. Although initially we thought the barman to be ok he became rude and downright mean with out reason. We spent a good bit of $ this visit and the one before as well, and a good bit of $ at Paris. We did not find the visit welcoming at all and the food was just okay. Sometimes food quality can be overlooked by great service but not this time

We spent time here on St. Patty's Day after the parade so it was very, very busy. Folks in our party enjoyed the atmosphere, the kind souls who were working, the visitors celebrating the weather and parade and the food that was ordered. Burgers and shepherd's pie. All good. Sawdust on the floor, fun place. Irish hospitality for sure!

In a very nice area of NY. I got a buffalo burger and fries: great taste and super homemade fries! The furniture recall a real irish pub. They have also the Guinness, whereas it is not served in a very irish style. Overall highly suggested.

The staff is very chatty, but the place does get busy. It is definitely a neighborhood hang; I saw couples, families and friends having a leisurely time. This is because nothing is rushed and the music stays in the background. They couldn't care less about being trendy; its a people's place. We all got corned beef and cabbage, but graded our beer consumption from Guinness to a red ale that was light but very flavorful. the food portion was huge, each plate could have served 2....yet we managed to eat it all! The cabbage definitely needed some salt and pepper, but that's a minor quibble. All in all we'd come back again, without at doubt.

Molly's is a classic Irish Pub, and by "Irish", I mean like a pub in Ireland, not the usual generic "Irish" pub that can be found in any city in the U.S. (and yes, I've visited many pubs both here and in Ireland). Really charming atmosphere, wood-burning fireplace, delicious food and drink, friendly service. What more do you need ? Just don't drop your coat or bag on the floor because it's covered in peanut shells and they're a bit of a pain to remove.

Stopped in here on St. Patrick’s Day with a buddy of mine. Was elbow to elbow while we still had a good time. Great atmosphere and we just pushed our way to the front of the bar. Bartenders were busy but very kind and helpful.

Four of us visited one evening, for an evening meal! Fantastic home cooked food, great friendly service with great Banter! Thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend!

I saw the review and had to take a look. I was not disappointed! The moment you walk through the door you are transported back in time. The barman was cool as a cucumber and the 2 Irish waiting staff were attentive, and almost motherly! The food was great - the burger superb. Well worth a visit!

Great beer and great food - we try to get there every time we stay in the city - we are impressed every time

Awful - Worst Guinness in New York City with an unfriendly staff. The Staff was not welcoming and the pint of Guinness tasted like the tap and line had not been cleaned for weeks; although the pub did have an unwelcoming bleach smell to it! We did not stay for lunch as we had planned.

Incredible food - had the hamburger and have to agree that it might just be what the staff claim - the best burger in NYC. Melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Someone in our group also had the Shepherds Pie and thought it was excellent. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Put it on your list of places to visit in New York.

Molly's Pub is a neat little place to grab Irish food in NYC. From the small cozy feeling to the sawdust floors, this is a great little find!

I went to Molly's years ago and loved it. Then, just rediscovered it. Over the past year, I go there every chance I get. It's relaxed, has great draft beer, wonderful real wooden booths, wonderful service. It's burgers and fries are great and they always have their irish standard plates and some specials that are very tasty.

The type of local pub you would expect to walk into in Ireland not New York. From the sawdust on the floor to the Irish Stew and open fire we could not fault Molly's. Great food and good selection of beers.

I love this place. This is my second time here. Came for lunch with a friend. Back again for a quick lunch before my flight home. Feels like you're in Ireland. Food is great. Large portions. The wait staff and bartender is fabulous and friendly. Fun place to just hangout. Great fireplace. This place should be on your list.

After having a drink there earlier, we went back a few days later to eat there. An excellent decision. The regular customers sit at the bar as if they were at home, always a good sign in an (Irish) pub. As it should be, it is not very well lit and with, in the American style, sports on the televisions. Which further enhances the living room feeling. The food was fine (but I don't know too much about that, it quickly tastes (good) to me), including nice service straight from Ireland! You really felt welcome there. What was extra nice was that 2 regular visitors at a table next to us started a chat as only New Yorkers can. These are the experiences in that special city that make you want to come back again and again! And that also applies to this catering establishment.

I was dying for corn beef and cabbage but I didn't want to find a place on the Green Drinking day. I found Molly's sawdust floor bar/restaurant and made a reservation for the day after. It was jammed but they honored are reservation and we had a difficult time with the menu. We wanted it all. As I will note below about the service and food it a all star place.

I found this place by searching on the Internet for the best burger in Manhatten. I found a list on About.com which had this place listed as No. 2, it was a few years old but we decided to take the chance and am I glad we did. Fantastic service from the waitresses and I loved the touches like sawdust on the floor. The food was amazing - I ordered the buffalo burger while my wife had the cheeseburger. All I can say that if this is no. 2 then I can't imagine how good no. 1 is! If you're looking for a good burger and pint then you can't beat this place. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

This is a nice little pub, close to everything. Staff was friendly and attentive. I have to rave about the burger!! It was amazing! Cooked to the right temperature, as requested and delicious! I will definitely go back there to enjoy their burger again....

Awesome joint. Loved how authentic the pub was. Sawdust on the ground to sop up spills. Burger was really good - a little messy but totally worth it. Onion rings were great too. My wife got the corned beef and it was amazing. Huge portions. Some of the smoothest poured Guinness I've ever had! Definitely recommend and will return when back in NYC!!

We met up with some NYC cousins here at their recommendation. The place is small, which made getting all of us around a table a challenge - but they made it work for us! A classic NYC Irish neighborhood joint - sawdust on the floor, the full Irish/English beer selection on tap, football on the telly, and dim and quiet enough inside for good conversation. The food was a really pleasant surprise - ethnic British Isles, but really tasty! I had a lamb stew that was the perfect complement to my Guiness

We ate here based on the reviews and it was good. The hamburger was surprisingly large and was very good. The wait staff and service was prompt. The food was good but we did not find it to be exceptional or stand out in any way other than the burger size. The menu was full of traditional Irish food with onion soup, Reuben, fish and chips.

Searched yelp for best burger and Molly's popped up. As soon as we walked in we knew we found a well loved local watering hole. The vibe was comfortable and friendly. My daughter loved her bacon cheeseburger. I enjoyed the chicken pot pie. There were many great options on the me u and their daily specials made it even more difficult to choose. The service was friendly and we were grateful that we rushed like some places tend to do. Don't miss this place.....even just to stop in for a drink.

Congrats to Molly's on having the distinct honor of the rudest staff in NYC. This includes an employee who pushes patrons. I'll take my money elsewhere.

Fantastic food! Shepherds pie is delicious, fish and chips were light and buttery. The spice bag has a kick but wonderful, as well. Great prices and great food!

My wife had been here many years ago, had a great experience, and looked forward to returning. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. They had what appeared to be an engagement party in the back. This place is WAY too small for the number of people they had crammed in the restaurant. Getting to the restroom was a nightmare. The food was decent, but certainly nothing justifying a special trip. Service was mediocre. I'm sure there are other Irish pubs in NYC with the same authenticity and which offer a far better experience.

I have been going to Molly's for over 30 years and I can telly uo I never had a burger that wasn't terrific. Also worth trying; Shepherds Pie, French Onion Soup and Fish and Chips

Why do people think that dumps like this are Irish Bars? Well over priced - and I mean WELL... Then again thinks me, the service will make up for it - no, just a grumpy little bachle of a woman, ah it must be the crack they're raving about...no too noisy and too busy for that, ooh it must be the food? It must be MUCH better than the 1000 venues within spitting distance. Definitely not. If you want a tiny, pseudo-Irish New York perception pub, served with a scowl then you've found your heaven.

Two had the lamb two the shepherds pie. Combined with great friendly service a great afternoon. Beer was good here.

In NYC for a concert at Gramercy Theater. Found nice pub around the corner. Good food. Friendly service. The red pepper soup is worth trying.

Went in for a late Sunday night dinner. The food was delicious, they had a nice selection of beers, and the service was very good.

As a British couple holidaying in New York, we wanted to try authentic NYC eateries and among that list had to be an Irish bar. Molly's is the place. Warm and friendly atmosphere and staff. Good beers, good food (not for the faint hearted!) and a great place in general.

Go here for the best Irish coffee you have ever had ! Really friendly service, and cozy little pub. Was a great recommendation.

My wife and I took my 87-year-old father here for a special dinner out right after Christmas. Dad is an Irish-American New Yorker who has traveled to Ireland over 30 times, so he has rather high standards for Irish pubs. We were very impressed by the food and hospitality at Molly's. The two waitresses on duty greeted us warmly when we walked in, and seated us immediately despite the pub being fairly crowded. I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was the best I've ever tasted. It took a good ten minutes to cool down enough to eat, but the top crust was flaky, chicken breast was well cooked and chunky, and the filling was creamy with just the right amount of spice (dill and sage). Dad had the shepherd's pie, which he said was also spiced just right and better than any he had ever had in either New York or Ireland. My wife ate the corned beef and cabbage, which was fine but not out of the ordinary. It came with a dill cream sauce. Portion sizes for all three entrees were generous, and prices were reasonable (all less than $20 each). We will definitely be back. Another plus, if you are driving in from outside the city (as we did), there is ample street parking on Third Avenue in this neighborhood. On a Sunday night, we were the only car parked on the entire block--just steps from Molly's front door.

This place used to be a great place for a drink and/or a bite, with a nice steady pub-style buzz to it even when really busy. But it now seems on most nights overrun with bros and their girls, not always their girls, shouting at each other over music that is never loud at all. Lunch is usually better. The food is big and people seem to think that's good, but it can be inconsistent, so you might like something a lot but next time you have it it will be different. Apparently it depends on who is in the kitchen that day. The fireplace is nice in winter but chances are you won't be seated near it because it's in the center of a very long narrow space.. The staff is friendly... if you know how to conduct yourself!

We went to Molly's on a friday night and I guess it wasn't a very busy night cause we didn't have to wait for a table. Since we got there pretty late, they weren't serving food anymore, so we sat on the bar; if you want to have dinner, you have to get there before 11pm. The bartender was nice and he makes a delicious cosmo. It wasn't expensive at all. The subway station was a little bit far from the bar. When we left we took a cab to get us midtown and it was probably like 8 bucks. I will definitely be back!

Chose this place out of convenience after attending an event at the Gramercy Theater. We arrived close to 10PM and were happy that the kitchen was still open at that hour on a Tuesday night. Atmosphere is classic Irish Pub/Dive Bar - sawdust covered floors, decor that looks like it was randomly picked out over the course of decades, weathered furnishings, cool jukebox, etc... Service was efficient, if not overly friendly. Food was excellent. Hanger Steak Sandwich was great, and burger was gigantic and well-prepared. We both simultaneously commented on how good the fries were, too - they had to be fresh-cut fries. Actually tasted like real potatoes, if you know what I mean... Nothing fancy here, but a solid choice for good pub fare and drinks in a cool atmosphere... We would return in an instant.

I have been going to Molly's for over 21 years. The Food, the sawdust on the floor, the tables ( with names etched into them) the homey atmosphere and the friendly down to earth staff have not changed in all this time. I have great memories of Molly's from the early 90's on Sunday nights with my girlfriends when we lived in Gramercy - to my 1st date with my Husband 15 years ago. I continue to bring Family, friends and my Hubby back to this Mainstay! Try a burger with blue cheese and a glass of wine or a Guiness. Omletes are great too. Sit by the fireplace and take in a game or people watch! Than you too will return again again!

Long standing neighborhood pub with the kind of food and ambiance you’d expect in a local favorite. From the sawdust on the floor to the tasty shepherds pie, it’s a little bit of Ireland in Gramercy Park.

We have visited quiet a lot irish pubs while being in the staates.. but Molly's was by far our favourite. The pub isn't really big which gives you the perfect irish pub feeling. Service was nice and fast, food was delicious. We will come back next time we're in NYC.

"Shebeen" derives from the Irish síbín, meaning 'illicit whiskey'. Nothing illicit about this place today, however. Everything is authentic, food made on the premises and genuine Guinness and Irish Whiskey. Even our waiter was originally from Ireland. We were tipped about the place by an Irish-American friend and we are thankful. The atmosphere is very special, dark wood and sawdust on the floor. OK: the sawdust is a little gimmicky today, but it did serve a purpose in it's day. We had a very enjoyable lunch with lots of Guinness, brisket and shepherd's pie. Only small remark: The portions are very copious, almost too big. I finished my shepherd's pie, however, because it is the best I have had in a long time. Molly's is definitely recommendable for atmosphere, food and drink. If you spill your drink the sawdust will suck it up.

We had a high energy lunch with super cute decorations, great service and super food. Loved it. It was very busy, but they still managed to get the food to us quickly and it was really yummy. It is not the place to go for a quiet evening.

What a place for burgers! One night got the mushroom burger with grilled onions..another tried the cheeseburger with onions. Can't go wrong with either if you are a burger fan. Portobellos veggie burger was also outstanding as were the fries. Lots of beer in bottles and on tap. Atmosphere with floor covered with sawdust also gives it a great feel

We saw this on tripadvisor before our visit to New York and decided to take a look based on the positive reviews. We went at 6:30pm and were greeted instantly by the very friendly staff who couldn't have done more for me and my wife whilst we were inside. I chose the Baked Macaroni and my wife had the chicken Caesar salad and both were beautiful. The staff were so friendly and gave my wife a test of some wine to see if she liked it. We would really recommend this place to other travellers

Went twice whilst staying in Gramercy. Both times service was great, really friendly, food well cooked and good value, especially their own burgers. Why not 5 stars? Needs a bigger choice of real ales.

Love this place. Small and friendly. Especially like it in the colder months - really nice white lights all over the ceiling make it feel cozy/holiday feeling. Obviously the Guinness is really good - clean taps! Local haunt for hospitals nearby - met lots of health care workers. Tip the bartenders well and they be good to you. Would recommend it after a nice meal in town!

Visited after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Firstly, that sawdust is just annoying!! We visited around 8:30 pm and had a bit of a wait for a table. The place is on the small side and as such you are almost on first name terms with other diners. Bit too close for my liking. The food was certainly adequate and huge portions but we felt that good as it was, it was on the expensive side for pretty standard stuff. We would probably go back again though.

I love this bar! Always friendly, never so noisy that you can't hear yourself think, and a reasonably varied menu to bring you back on a regular basis. If you like a drop of the Irish, this venue is for you.

Super cosy place with real fire in winter and sawdust on the floor. Good luck finding a quiet time to go! Classic Irish fare and the burgers are amongst the best in the city!

Live in the neighborhood and always have a consistently good experience here for dinner and drinks. Their burgers are among the tastiest i have had in the city. They also often have great fresh grilled fish of some type or other. Fish and chips also a good bet. Nice selection of beers and wines too. This place is dark with attitude - in a good way - with sawdust on the floor and a friendly wait staff. Love this place - give it a try.

Our only mistake was going to Molly's on St. Patrick's day..... Great atmosphere, good food and fun! We had to wait outside and share a table with strangers, but only because of the holiday. We will go again..

Great atmosphere. Stumbled on this place mid afternoon on St Patrick’s Day. Got the only 2 seats available at the bar and had a blast. Friendly people and good atmosphere. Great beer and beef stew.

What great craic! This place almost makes me forget I am in NYC as stepping through the doors transports me back to Dublin. The cosy bar with sawdust on the floor is the place I go to feel a little less homesick for Eire. The bartenders are keen to have a laugh - they can both take and throw back a good slaggin - it's all in good fun. The staff is primarily Irish and their accents will feel like a big comforting hug to those missing the homeland. Best bit...they don't even blink an eye when I ask for a Bulmers as they know exactly what I am talking about. And the food is incredible. I highly recommend the shepherd's pie. My fave place to throw back a pint or two....er or three or four. Only improvements I am hoping for is a bit more trad music and some thick cut wedge chips (if you do go for the chips, be sure to order them with the curry sauce) :)

Delicious burgers and brisket, fun atmosphere, enjoyable server. This is a comfortable spot to visit and have an outstanding burger and beer. Try it!

I had been here in December and just enjoyed finger food and beers, but wanted to come back. It was a good friend's birthday and I suggested this place. It was within walking distance of his home so we went. We arrived on a Saturday evening and were lucky to get seated promptly. The bar was packed. I wasn't surprised from my last experience. The table shared the chicken wings and potato skins. Both were delicious. The servers are all very friendly, informative and cordial. We all had great entrees: Bangers and Mash, Corn Beef & Cabbage and Shepherd's Pie. Not one of us could finish our meal. The portions are very generous. We all enjoyed beers from the tap. I still feel this is the best Guinness Pour in the city. Fresh and delicious. One of us chose the Smithwick's Red Ale. A very enjoyable evening as we were celebrating one friend's birthday and we will surely all be back.

Visited this little gem on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Stumbled across it really as we were looking for respite from the rain and in need of a drink. We ended up staying for about three hours, the girls working there were friendly and helpful, we never had to leave our seats to be fed and watered. There were 11 of us and we shared a few sharing bits from the menu, all well cooked and really tasty. Well worth a look if you want great service from people that smile and make you welcome

There was 6 of us visiting from Scotland and Ireland, we had a great experience in Molly's. It was probably the best meal I had the whole weekend I was in New York. We were over to celebrate my mums 50th and they gave her a free chocolate cake and came out singing happy birthday to her 🍰 definitely worth a visit, most authentic little Irish pub there is in New York ☘️ I 100% recommend the chicken curry for something to eat 👌🏽 xx

I have been coming here for years and years. It is the closest you will get to a real Irish pub in New York City. The food is always grand, the burgers are fantastic, among the best I have ever had. We had Sunday brunch, two of our party had the Irish Breakfast and two the American Breakfast, either version is great. I had the American, two eggs scrambled, light and very buttery, two sausages, three or four pieces of tasty applewood smoked bacon, home fries and toast. The included Mimosas are served in wine glasses and are not tiny little portions in flutes. The bill was about $110 incuding tax and tip. This is a real pub, sawdust on the floor, ancient pictures on the walls and friendly, happy waitresses. The only point I have to note is that they have neither jam nor jelly for your toast, so bring your own!

Visited for dinner while on holiday in NYC. Excellent food and Guinness. Very festive and friendly atmosphere.

I had to think twice about writing a review of Molly's. Why? Because it is so wonderful that I hesitate to send too many people its way. Molly's is a classic Irish pub with tremendous, "the craic", the spirit of friendliness, conversation, and warmth that imbues Irish bars. There are many regulars who frequent this pub, including a very well known American TV star. He is left alone, no one would think of bothering him. There is sawdust on the floor, a beautiful old bar that tilts and festive colored lights. The bartenders and staff all seem to be from Ireland. The atmosphere is easy going, convivial, and fun. Great place to have a jar with friends. There is wonderful bar food-- burgers, salads, and sandwiches. I have been here many times over the years. So, if you are in the Union Square, Gramercy Park, or Madison Square neighborhoods and looking for some comfort and smile, head over to Molly's. God bless ya.

Wait staff seemed to be more interested in gabbing and gossiping than in serving customers. I should point out that there were never more than two occupied tables and 3-5 customers at the bar. The waitress couldn't even be bothered to interrupt her conversation long enough to BRING menus to the table. She just reached around and tossed them on the table and forgot about us for 10 minutes w/o even asking if we wanted drinks. Twice, I saw her take drink refill orders and then forget about them, only to apologize w/a half-hearted "I'm sorry." She NEVER asked us if we wanted refills. The corned beef was delicious and adequately applied to our sandwiches but the fries were soggy and, in some cases, still cold inside. Would I return? NOOOOOOO!!!!

I had to work extremely late and my boyfriend and I wanted to get a good hot meal. Thanks to Yelp and Trip Advisor we discovered this gem! It doesn't seem like much on first look but then you walk in. You feel transported to another location outside of Manhattan. You can sit anywhere at the bar, wooden booths by the bar, or the beautiful tables further in the back. The whole restaurant is dimly lit, with photos and vintage decor around. The food was well made and served quickly and perfectly. We ordered the Shepard pot pie, as well as the corned beef sandwich Reuben style. Absolutely delicious, and couldn't have asked for fresher yet quickly made food. The service was quick and prompt, as well as friendly! If you're in the area and hungry, take the time to stop! You'll appreciate every detail about it!

Went here when we couldn't get into where we planned to go. Had a burger with pulled pork and sauce on top that was out of this world. Nice place, reasonable prices, friendly staff. No complaints, would definitely go back here again.

I had reviewed Molly's while still living in NYC as we lived a block away and it was our home away from home. We ate there weekly and I called it the best Irish Pub in the world not just NYC. On a visit last week my wife and I had the good fortune to get to Molly's again and if anything it is even better than ever though certainly more crowded. Sawdust on the floor and the great Management and server staff greeted us like the old friends we are. We had our favorite giant burgers and potato's our usual bottle of Malbec. As usual both food and service were great and we can't wait to get back to Molly's which we will do in December.

This place was EXACTLY what I wanted. Not a big loud touristy Irish Pub, but an authentic one! Sawdust on the floor. Waitresses from Ireland- Joann is a gem! No frozen food, all made in house, all delicious. I asked for a good Irish whiskey recommendation and they blew my mind. I had never had Redbreast, but now I am on a hunt to find some! It is small, warm, lowly lit, and GREAT.

A classic Irish pub complete with sawdust on the floor, Irish music on the jukebox, and a working fireplace. it's a solid spot to grab a pint just based off atmosphere alone, not to mention the mile-long menu of English and Irish drafts. They also serve one of the best pub burgers around. Burgers are huge and perfect, among the best I have ever had! If you come here for the brunch or for a burger, you will not be disappointed. Sit by the fireplace and take in a game or people watch!

My hubby's has been coming here since the 90s when he lived here so we visit each time we come, usually more than once. The bartenders are friendly and engaging for locals and newcomers alike and greet everyone as if old friends even if they've never been before. They have a killer Bloody Mary and the best Irish coffee. The pints of Guinness are poured as they should be and are very smooth. The burgers are huge and perfect. The Irish stew is out of this world. Hard not to come here for every meal! Highly recommend this place for food or drinks. Forgot to take pictures of the burgers and coffee before they were consumed:)

Great pint of Murphy's great cheese burgers and yes awesome amount of sawdust on the floor. The atmosphere is total country Irish pub. Low ceilings quiet conversations you'd think people were planning a donnybrook. If you need a burger and a pint of the black stuff and fine yourself on the east side this is the spot.

We wanted to get to know this place because of the tradition of Ireland and its food houses in NY It really is a traditional pub, in the purest Irish style Good beer and food according to the Irish people I ate the classic shepherds pie, which was rich and very filling Very friendly atmosphere, correct service and excellent beer Recommended if you are interested in the Irish wave

New York ( and possibly the USA) number one Irish Pub. For years my wife and I lived one block away from Molly's and would eat there at least 3 or 4 times a month. New York City kitchens are mostly small so Molly's became our de facto kitchen. We now split time between NYC and Maryland but each time we are in NYC we never fail to eat at our favorite. Yes we may eat at greats like Bouley, LePerigord, Gramercy Tavern etc but never are we as comfortable as at Molly's. The food is very good and the burgers are the best in NYC bar none, Simply top quality beef cooked just right and in a very large 12oz portion. We stopped in last week with our friendly servers still there. Jimmy Gallagher is NYC's best bartender and Co-Owner Sheila ,(along with Jimmy) wished a warm welcome back. I had a burger done perfectly rare with raw onion and mashed potatoes on the side. My wife enjoyed a cheeseburger with grilled onions and home made potato salad. A bottle of Malbec accented the meal. The one issue here is that the word is out and Molly's is becoming jam packed in the evenings which means you have to get there early.

Molly's might be the last pub in NYC that has Guinness at the proper temperature! Many other pubs have lowered the temp to make it pour more easily and quickly but at Molly's you can expect your Guinness poured properly. Years ago I lived around the corner and would eat here a couple times a week. I enjoy bringing out-of-towners here - it's a must see stop on my NYC walking tour. The food is great (try the burger!) and the atmosphere is always comfortable. Mix in a warm, welcoming and friendly staff and one feels like they are back in the old country.

Great atmosphere in this pub with an old Irish feel. The staff are very friendly and chatty, real Irish charm. We came for breakfast and the food was of a high quality, the French toast was amazing! Would highly recommend

My family of 3 had great cheeseburgers, fish and chips and a beer at this cozy pub. We went in at lunch time and got a table right away. The atmosphere, decor and workers make this place the real deal. Beautiful bar completely full with people drinking beer and eating there favorite dish. This place looks like many locals hang out there. We are from Miami and we would never find a pub like this there. Had a great meal and vacation memories.

Four of us decided on Molly's because of its location to the Gramercy Theater. We all ordered some sort of burger. One vegetable, one bison w/bacon, and two regular w/ bacon. Everyone was very pleased with their large and tasty dinners. The fries were good and the pickle's were delicious. Our waitress didn't seem like she cared too much about our dining experience. We had to get up to go get her to have her get something for us at one point while she just hung out in the back and chatted with other staff. The excellent food more than made up for it. Also, we had a lot of time to kill so we didn't mind just hanging out for a while even though the seats were filling up quickly. It seems like they would have wanted to move us along a little quicker. The sawdust on the floor was an interesting touch and the lights in the place were an interesting conversation piece. I would be more than happy to head back when in town again.

Wonderfully authentic Irish pub. Great ale, terrific atmosphere. Cozy and quaint. We had the potato skins, billed as "killer" by our waitress....good, but definitely nothing special. All in all, a great place for a beer. Would return for the atmosphere, and try different food next time

Turned off by overall rudeness of staff, and amount of cigarette breaks they’re allowed to take. Waited too long for check.

If you want an original Irish “sheebeen” pub with great food and excellent service, this is the spot. Nothing fake, all good!

I went because of the ratings--really? We wanted a good meal before heading home from a weekend in the city. This is a pub--primarily burgers--staff is great, food is barely ok. I make better burgers. Prices are reasonable. If you want food at a bar, this is fine...real, good food can be found elsewhere.

Had a quick dinner here. Buffalo wings were a bit boring to be honest (chicken had be laying around for some time and apparently the kitchen was short on decently sized celery. Burger on the other hand was delicious. Quick and friendly service and seemed like a nice place to hangout with friend and watching a soccer game.

We recently decided to pop in for a drink with our children (15 and 11) we were greeted in a very curious way for a business. We asked to sit and have drinks and got told we weren’t allowed to sit at a table and just have drinks. We then asked where we could sit to have a drink the lady, (rather unhelpful in every way) told us “at the bar” but children aren’t allowed up the bar. So when we again asked where we could sit, she so ever helpfully shrugged her shoulders and left it up to us to realise we were in fact not welcome at all! Not the best policy for business, especially when the place wasn’t busy and we just wanted a quick pit stop. Place must be doing rather well to be turning customers away without a second glance! Hospitality at its best right here!

The food was great. I enjoyed the burger and the overall vibe of the place. Great around the holidays. Service was pretty good as well!!! I’ll be back!!

So awesome , old pics on the wall and sawdust on the floor ! Orange lights in the chandeliers add to the ambiance. True and real Irish pub

Such history.....An old stage coach stop many years ago..... Sawdust on the floor....Best during colder months when there is fire burning....... This is Irish Pub food......Love the Fish & Chips.......Irish Coffee......Staff are terrific !

Went to Molly’s for dinner and drinks on a Monday night. Super busy and fun environment. Highly recommend the corned beef and cabbage. Excellent! Great bar and drinks

Sat at bar while waiting for friends for dinner. Bartender, Tony was very friendly and gave info about food, where to find specific irish food not available at Molly's. Fried calamari was fresh, marinara sauce was fresh & distinctive. Am going to have dinner next and I'm sure will be fabulous!

Was recommended Molly's by a friend so checked it out and had an enjoyable experience. The waiter was friendly and cordial- nothing special there. The food was large portions. I had a turkey sandwich that was supposed to have cranberry mayo but did not. Husband had a burger that was excellent. Fries were average. Overall I'd recommend and return.

This was our first stop one night on a walk to dinner. It was a perfect place to snag a table (near wooden booth!), a couple of beverages and appetizers. Very cool vibe with sawdust on the floor and Irish waitstaff. I'm a stickler for restroom cleanliness and they didn't disappoint! Appetizer of Reuben potato skins should not be missed! Side of veggies was also delish. My only gripe is that nearly all the places near here offer some kind of happy hour drink or food option and this place had nothing. Guess that means they don't need to offer one so good for them!

Great Irish breakfast. Quaint and charming. Friendly staff. Sawdust on the floor does act to the character of this pub.

True hole in the wall pub. Tight fit but so worth it. We had both had bacon chesseburgers fries and onion rings and they it was all amazing!! By far top 3 burgers I have had in NYC. If it is busy trust me you want to wait.

Have reviewed Mollys before on a previous visit. Was disappointed this time. Dined here with family in late August and found the service slow, the food just ok and the general atmosphere dull. In fairness there was just one girl taking the food orders and serving all the tables and it was a busy Sunday evening. She was rushed off her feet and deserves credit. But I would not rush to return here.

We came here for dinner. The place has a lovely decoration. We had burgers, which were the best we had during our visit in NYC. Definitely a place worth paying a visit when you are in NYC!

Place was a just walk in for a bite place.....but were we surprised! the atmosphere was festive as soccer(apparently a championship game) was on and the place was rocking!! No fights or hotty calls either....just yells or groans...loved it...food was great...a little slow so don't expect a quick lunch on a sunday soccer day!! service was spunky also... loved it!!

Nice atmosphere to get a drink. Nice place to get something quick. The service was efficient. The food was good.

We visited Molly's as our last stop on our "New York's Oldest Bars" crawl. Molly's is a nice, clean place, which is very similar to others we visited on our crawl. By the time we got to Molly's, we were pretty worn out and a little tipsy by the time we got to Molly's, but it stood out as a special place. We will return.

Met a business colleague for dinner on a Thursday night with no wait for a booth by the bar at 6:15. By the time we left at 7, it was quite crowded. The atmosphere was very pub like with sawdust on the floor which was great but slippery to walk on with dress shoes and wasn’t kind to my colleague’s wool overcoat when it fell on the ground. I had the Rueben and he had the chicken Cesar salad. Both tasted very good with large portions enough for two people. Plenty of meat on my Reuben and the salad had quite a bit of chicken. The server was very nice and attentive with prompt service and delivered the check as soon as we asked.

We visited Molly’s to celebrate our daughter’s 21st Birthday while on a trip to NYC. We wanted a friendly pub with good food and atmosphere and we weren’t disappointed. The food was traditional, well cooked and tasty and the service really made our night. Ceara was a great host and we had a fantastic evening, we thought the prices were reasonable given there were six of us and quite a lot of drinks were consumed! We paid 2/3 of the cost in an Italian restaurant off Times Square the evening before for one course and one drink each. We were didn’t feel under pressure to eat up/drink up and vacate the table as was our experience in other places. Can’t fault it and would definitely recommend. Thanks for such a memorable experience on a very special day!

I go to Molly's every time I'm in NYC. Great burgers (blue cheese one being my favorite), and of course, accompanied by a cold Guinness. The pub has a nice atmosphere, very friendly staff (in particular barman). I highly recommend, and hope you're not allergic to sawdust.

I began working in the Gramercy Park area in 2007 and soon wandered into Molly's having heard from co-workers that their cheddar burgers are the best! And they are: big, delicious, juicy - get a side of crispy onion rings. I soon became a regular going in after work for other tasty menu items such as the Turkey Club ("off the bird", said Jimmy), the fried calamari and the fabulous Shepards Pie. The bartenders, Jimmy & Tony (RIP) made you feel right at home engaging you in funny and formative conversations. Molly's has its regulars plus the tourists that come in and warm, friendly, interesting conversations always ensued making the dining experience relaxing and fun. Molly's has old world charm with its wood burning fire place and its thousands of tiny, colorful lights hanging from the ceiling at Christmas. I went there for 7 years until my promotion transferred me out of the area. I miss Molly's and think fondly on the memories made there and the people I met there.

On a recent Saturday evening we met with a friend, who is a local, at Molly's for drinks. First time visit for us and we had a great night! Great place with good atmosphere and good drinks. What else did we need! Next time in NYC we will definately be back!

Went here last year great night out felt like home. Found it out again because we liked it so much last year was not disappointed great friendly atmosphere good food and drinks. Staff great friendly and welcoming

Molly's is almost a hole in the wall pub that's easy to miss. The bartender was friendly and the food was outstanding. We enjoyed shepherds pie and a great reuben on rye. Don't miss it.

I went for dinner at Molly's January 16 and loved it. Very friendly staff and a warm, welcoming interior. Seems to do a good trade with regulars and locals (i was from out of town) which is always a good sign. The atmosphere was on the dark and woody side which i like, sets a more intimate feel. They pour a pint of Guinness just right as well :) For meals, I had the corned beef and cabbage and my friend had shepherd's pie.The shepherd's pie was AMAZING!! If you go there, have it! It's a good sized portion, too. Again - you must eat this!! I had the corned beef and cabbage and it was excellently done BUT I need cheap, regular yellow mustard to go with it and they just had the "good" kinds of mustard. In any event, I would go back and will go for the shepherd's pie.

This is probably one of the oldest bars in the city and it is very popular. We stopped in the evening for cocktails after a day of shopping and the place drew a big but very friendly crowd. We had a terrific time chatting with many of the patrons and had a delicious burger.

Stopped here while in NYC as looking for a traditional Irish breakfast and hit the mark. Loved the black and white pudding! Atmosphere was just what you want out of a pub and service was lovely!

I live in the neighborhood and love having this place nearby. Great for nightcap or place to rendezvous for the evening. Sawdust on the floor, dark wood, dimly lit, fireplace/wood burning stove, all around great cozy vibe especially in the wintertime. Makes you feel like you've gone back in time to old New York. Bartenders and servers can be gruff but under that rough outside they're really friendly and attentive. Definitely must stop in here if you're in the area.

We went to Molly's for a Sunday dinner after seeing a Broadway play. The pub was pretty quiet and we had no problem being seated right away. The waitresses were fairly attentive to our table however once the orders had been put on the table it was harder to get their attention. I had the Shepard's pie which I have to say was very good. My son order the the Buffalo burger Medium well. It came out rare. My wife's burger was ordered medium and was charred on the outside and cold pink on the inside. hardly the best burger in New York we were led to believe. I don't think I would ever return to Molly's except maybe for a pint.

I first went to Molly's in January 2018 during my last visit to NYC and popped back again this visit. I hadn't planned to but, being so close, I couldn't not pop in! It's a grand Irish pub and if that's your thing you have to check it out. The bartender was friendly and engaging and very welcoming. We had a grand yarn but he wasn't intrusive. The Guinness was as perfectly poured as I remembered and after a day of museuming was most welcome :) For my meal I had the daily special: pork shank with, I think, pureed parsnip, colcannon and, of course, mashed potatoes. It was all good, so very, very good. For dessert I had carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Definitely finished every bit of THAT! :) Anyhow, if you like to take a load off at a friendly Irish pub with good food, Guinness and friendly staff then pop by Molly's!

Wanting a cozy little pub, I found this place based on the reviews here. The reviews were accurate as I found this place having a great Irish pub atmosphere but also having good food. Now that's a rare combination these days with all the run-of-the-mill pubs around. I ordered a full meal of fish and chips with a side. It was outstanding and worthy of returning with friends and family in the future. The decor is cozy with saw dust on the floor and lots of wood on the walls. It is more authentic than it sounds. If you want to hang out with some beers or Irish drinks in a casual environment, you'll like it.

I was looking for a great Shepard's pie and a pint and I found it here. Good menu with daily specials including home made soups. Sawdust on the floor and a great Guinness. Friendly staff and a good crowd. Chicken pot pie was great too.

Let's put some perspective on what the naysayers have been reporting. My wife and I visited last week and decided we had to try not only the pub, but the grub as well. If you are expecting a fancy NYC boutique burger, this is not going to be it. It's a big, meaty, American style burger without the frills. My wife really like it. I ordered the Bangers and Mash. Better than any I've ever eaten in Ireland. I mean, it LOOKS sort of off-putting when it arrives, but it's nicely flavored and not too salty. Our server was a delightful woman. Would absolutely go back. You should go too.

This is not NYC elegance. It is a middle class workingman/woman's bar with the great tradition of sawdust on the floor, dark pub atmosphere, fine beer and generous portioned bar food. This is in the great tradition of Irish pubs in NYC. If that's what you want this is a great place to go. NYC prices.

Proper Irish bar with proper Irish hospitality and fantastic range of drinks. Sit at the bar for the craic and conviviality. Wonderful place to spend time and while away an afternoon or two !

Went looking for a nice place to eat and we found it in Mollys......busy, busy but we got the last two seats at the counter and this was a stroke of luck as it turned out the barman was from Donegal in Ireland and we had several conversations with him during the evening.......we also had a bite to eat and were happy with everything

Molly's is a classic Irish pub in the Gramercy area of New York City. With sawdust on the floor, Guiness on tap, and a wait staff that makes you feel like you are at home, Molly's turned out to be the perfect place for a drink on Saturday night, and then again for lunch on Sunday. I drank the Lagunitas IPA - my favorite - and for lunch ate the chicken pot pie - delicious with an excellent flaky crust.. Molly's boasts several Irish Pub classics including shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. Portions are large and several in our party took home leftovers (which they reported were better the next day!). If you're in the neighborhood, Molly's would be a great place to stop in.

This place was a treat to discover. Quiet gramercy gem, looks like a pub in Ireland or rural england. The floor has woodchips on the ground, and the walls are filled with vintage photos- pretty cool. Can't speak for the food, but had a lovely glass of wine and friends enjoyed the beers on tap. Great winter spot.

For many years my wife and I lived one block away from Molly's and it was our second kitchen as we ate there weekly. When we return to NYC we always make Molly's our first restaurant stop. Great staff. Great Owners, Great ambiance and Great food including NYC's number one burger, beef or bison. I always rated Molly's tops in the Zagat guide but it really has become a destination since Jimmy Fallon frequents the pub. A fireplace in winter, sawdust on the floor and the prettiest colleens in town serving you. Jimmy Gallagher is a number one bartender and Oneca and the servers are also tops. The one problem is that is may be getting too crowded after 5PM. It's still our favorite and will remain so.

We went to Molly's to warm up after a very cold visit to ground zero. The bar was warm and hospitable, with great service from our knowledgable bar man. We decided to eat there and my husband chose the Irish stew, whilst I opted for the chicken pot pie. When our waitress, Jessie, bought the food we thought we had struck pay dirt, as the food was delicious, full of flavour, meat and vegetables. It was so good we went back again the following day for dinner, and were once again delighted with the atmosphere, warmth and service we received. And did I mention the food, once again wholesome, flavourful, and delicious, and yet again there was plenty of it. It was so good there we cannot wait to get back! A wonderful experience I would heartily recommend to anyone.

I have been coming here for years and years. It is the closest you will get to a real Irish pub in New York City. The food is always grand, the burgers are fantastic, among the best I have ever had. If you do nothing else either come here for the brunch or for a burger, you will not be disappointed. This time we brunched on one Irish Breakfast, two of the American Breakfasts, either version is great and one eggs Benedict. I had the American, two eggs over easy, two Irish sausages, three or four pieces of tasty applewood smoked bacon, home fries and soda bread. The latter is fresh and tasty. We also spilt an order of onion rings, these are great, greasy, thick batter, fresh onion - not the sort of dish to serve to your cardiologist! The included Mimosas are served in wine glasses and are not tiny little portions in flutes. The bill was about $70. This is a real Irish pub, sawdust on the floor, ancient pictures on the walls, black bricks surrounding the fireplaces. The waitresses are prompt, friendly and happy. The joint is a bit noisy but no so much that you can't comfortably carry on a conversation. The only point I have to note is that they have neither jam nor jelly for your toast, so bring your own!

We have been to this place numerous times over many decades. This time, we journeyed from Connecticut to this establishment in Manhattan, New York, specifically for their Sunday Brunch and to meet our friends from Scandinavia. All in our party, except one, were non-American born; originating from far corners of the world. But, we had one thing in common. We are devotee of Irish pub foods. One, in the group, a Korea-born, was accomplished Irish folk singer. This place, Molly's is one of very few traditional Irish pub surviving in metropolitan New York area. Where did all go? We started the morning with doses of Blood Mary. The concoction was perfectly executed by a very charming bar person with noble Irish accent. The man, competent of what he was doing, the best in his business, and gracious. Armed with the medication, we, then, moved to a table in a corner, surrounded by a dark wooden panels. Brunch menu was extensive; contents were bit overwhelming. Every one had different choice. My partner ordered "Irish Breakfast" but skipping Baked Beans and Irish Bacon. Lord, the food looked so wonderful, but it was just too much. The serving staff were marvelous, charming, courteous, competent, .... Oh! Spirit of heave, earth, forest, and ocean, we weep for disappearance of Irish pubs from New York scenes. We are coming back within next few weeks, before they all disappear, to sample their traditional foods, Fish & Chips, Shepherds' Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Lamb Stew, etc., etc., etc., ...

After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to lunch here. The decor is just as described, a dark, windowless place with a claustrophobically low ceiling that really feels like an authentic Irish pub. I would not normally comment on the staff's looks, but given that several restaurant guides tout the attractiveness of the servers as a selling point, let me just say that was not the case the day I went, and leave it at that. There are some small, cramped tables in the back of the pub and a few roomy wooden booths in front next to the bar. I sat in a booth. As other reviewers have noted, the sawdust is annoying because it's everywhere, not just on the floor but on the seats too, so you end up sitting in sawdust. Having heard the burgers are great, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which came with a choice of sides. Since I hate shoestring onion rings, I ask if the onion rings were thick or thin. "They're house-made," my server tells me. "Sorry, does that mean they're thick or thin?" Now the server is clearly annoyed and barks at me, "They're house-made!" Er, okay, but how does the house make them? It's obvious if I press the issue the server will implode, so I decide to roll the dice. The burger that I ordered medium comes so well done that the meat is gray and crumbling. Terrible. N.B., the onion rings are thick (yay) but with a greasy, bland batter (opposite of yay). As other reviewers have noted, portions are large. I was not rushed, even after the bar got crowded. I will note that my server came over half way through my meal to see if I was okay with the onion rings, and at that point explained that "housemade" means the kitchen makes them any which way on a particular day. No clue why I couldn't have been told this when I was ordering. I might give this place another try, but probably just to have a drink at the congenial bar. I would not eat here again.

Good friendly service, excellent fresh food made to order, large selection of drinks, would strongly recommend

Good friends of mine said you have to go to Molly's for a pint of stout and a burger when you go to New York!!! Well they were right as authentic an Irish Pub you could not find from the old fashioned sawdust on the floor, to the fireplace, to the great food, to the excellent Murphy's stout on tap all comfort stuff. The service from the young lady from Ireland was impeccable and a joy to talk to. My wife said the lamb stew was the best she ever had and the fresh ground chuck burger was so immense I am embarrassed to say i couldn't finish it. Will always make a point of going here whenever I return to New York a can't miss.

Went on a Friday, met a friend there since we had time to kill while our daughter went on a 4 hr cruise. We went around 7 and had no wait for a table. We all had Burgers after reading the reviews and I gotta say, they make a great burger. The Fries were great too, but the best was our waitress, I would give her a 5. Very funny and super nice. Want to go back and try some of the other items now.

We go to the city (Connecticut residents) to meet up with family and decided to try an offbeat place where we could have a few drinks, a decent meal without crazy prices, and talk and exchange Christmas Gifts. We were very happy to find Molly's as we had a great time. We (3 of us) sat in a booth and had the fish and chips. The size was amazing as there were three pieces, as shown in the pub literature, with a boat load of fries. Absolutely delicious. Guiness as well as the mixed drinks were great. Service was always nearby but left us alone to talk as we had wanted. We will definitely be back again.

What a great place to go, they've a great selection of drinks and the food is absolutely delicious all in comfortable surroundings

We came here with family that was in town visiting. It has a true tavern feel! The drinks and the staff were great! The food could have been better - a couple of us were disappointed with the corn beef, cabbage and potatoes and the crab cakes were ok. But the place was packed so maybe we were there an off-night.

Walked in off the street looking for a good drink. Great drinks. Great calamari. A very no-nonsense kind of place for a good drink and some good food. Small with very attentive staff.

It was a nice sunny day and we waited in line outside for our chance to get in. The restaurant was very busy, crowded, but the service was great. Very quick to sit, we sat in the back. The decor was very authentic of the pubs in Ireland. We had bangers & mashed and shepherds pie. Both came out piping hot and were quit good. Very busy on this St. Patrick’s it was obvious this is where everyone wanted to be. We were not rushed and took our time to finish our meals. We then sat and enjoyed the ambiance. Definitely recommended.

Great ambience, sawdust on the floor, very cozy. Service is good, servers are very pleasant. We go there for their onion soup and their hamburgers. Other food items are also very good, but those are our favorites.

Cozy little place with a very authentic Irish feel and the best Guinness pour I have had in quite some time (particularly in NYC).

Sawdust on the floor next to the fireplace, lovely colleens to wait on you, New York's best bartender and the absolute best 12 OZ burger in New York. Correction, the USA. Molly's served as our kitchen for the 25 years we lived on the next block in Gramercy Park. We ate there weekly and on this trip managed to get there twice (Once with our family members). It is great seeing Jimmy, Sheila, Pete, Onica, Joanne and the rest of the staff who have been at Molly's for years. At a late lunch we opted for our favorites cheeseburger for my wife and burger for myself. With Onions and Mashed or Fries, a nice bottle of Malbec you will be more than satisfied. Two days later at dinner our family came in as my niece has always loved Molly's cheeseburgers while my nephew really goes for the chicken tenders (made In-house). We also enjoyed wings, tenders, corned beef, cabbage along with the burgers. Molly's is always packed with happy people enjoying great food and drink as well as top service. It is by far the best pub in New York and maybe the country..

Went there on a Sunday night, wasn't too crowded but enough to have a nice atmosphere I had the soup of the day, carrot and ginger, which was very nice, followed by what turned out to be a very good cheeseburger. It's easy to forget how a good burger taste like, but this one was really very good and simple, which I like. The fries were tasty and well cooked, the burger itself was cooked like I like it (rare) which is often difficult to get. I had the Oktoberfest beer, which was a good surprise. Overall a nice experience, thinking of doing it again before I leave NYC!

We were doing our best to visit and number of bars with history in NYC. Molly's appears to have survived the test of time. We were able to get a couple of seats at the bar and ordered some wings with beers. I asked a gentleman who was leaving about a Stout on tap since I noticed he was drinking a dark beer. He told me to order the Guinness. He told me it was the best Guinness in the city. I am a dark beer aficionado, and rarely order Guinness, but I decided to take his advice. By far, it was one of the best Guinness drafts I have ever had. I questioned the bar tender why this was and he informed me that they change that keg over thirty times a week, so is is always fresh. I don't know if I can order Guinness on tap anywhere else now, except maybe Ireland. The wings were crispy, hot and delicious. The atmosphere is what you should expect in an Irish Pub. Delightful visit and we will surely be back.

Molly's is one of the friendliest, most authentic looking Irish pubs in New York, with sawdust on the floor and a fire in the fireplace...very inviting. It looks like a great place to meet for a drink (which it is) but the big surprise is that their food is surprisingly good -- much better than normal pub food. The Irish Stew and Chicken Pot Pie are outstanding, as are their hamburgers and homemade potato salad. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. This is also a great place for brunch on weekends -- featuring a full Irish breakfast as well as eggs benedict, omelettes, and American breakfasts. The staff here is extremely friendly and anxious to make everyone feel welcome.

came across this bar whilst walking around hells kitchen, tried there beef stew it was very nice and reasonably priced for new york, staff very friendly, will return again if in new york

We selected Molly's for dinner on a recent Sat. Night based on our search for most Christmas decorations . There were strings of lights everywhere ! We waited about 20 mins for a table, crammed in by the front door as the bar was full. We were seated in a booth in the back where we could take in the atmosphere . The waitress greeted us promptly , took drink orders and reviewed our menu questions . I didn't get her name but loved her quick wit and banter . Our group of 4 selected Shepard's pie , onion soup and salad , vegetarian sandwich with fresh cut fries and corned beef sandwich. . The food arrived quickly , was hot and delicious . Everything was devoured but half the corned beef , saved for Sunday lunch . Prices were reasonable, service great and food tasty . Oh and the lights were festive !

Had dinner (two adults, one teenager) here mid week night. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was average pub grub and the beer was cold! The interior is older and dark and certainly not over designed or 'trendy'- probably better on a cold winters night than a hot summers eve.

From the intimate, old timey (in a great way) setting, to the bar tender with the thick Irish accent, this place is authentic and made me feel like I was back in Dublin. The food was wonderful. I had the corned beef and cabbage and my wife had the shepherd's pie. Thick sawdust covers the floor. The Guinness is poured just right with the perfect head. I'd highly recommend this as a place to duck-in for a pint, a great meal, and an enjoyable atmosphere.

great locals, great host, great food :) cosy setting. sat at the bar chatting , felt like a proper irish new yorker !

Great authentic Irish atmosphere, obviously it’s not exactly the same as Ireland but if you haven’t been then it feels very realistic. The Irish beers available are very tasty.

Visited Molly's for evening dinner, after reading all the positive reviews! We had high expectations, how wrong we were. The portions were too big and the quality was awful, service wasn't great either! Wouldn't recommend!!!

We visited this American Irish Pub as it was close to our hotel and recommended. A fun bar with a great atmosphere and delicious food. Known for their burgers, we decided on shepherd's pie and chicken pot pie. Delicious! In our book, you can't go wrong with good Irish food!

If you have read any of my previous reviews you know that Molly's is my favorite pub. NO favorite restaurant period. It was my kitchen when we lived a block away and now on every visit we make sure we get to Molly's. All the food is good but their 10 oz Hamburgers and Bison burgers are the best anywhere. The room is charming and the staff great, owners Pete and Sheila O'Connell, bartender Jimmy Gallagher and servers Onica and Joanne among them. Since Jimmy Fallon started hanging out there it has become more than crowded and sometimes if is tough to just get in the place so go early. On our last visit besides a nice bottle of malbec, I had a great burger, mashed on the side and my wife had terrific bison burger with fries. Molly's was voted second in a recent NY Times article on Irish pubs but since McCormicks closed they must now be considered number 1 and in my estimation they have always been number 1.

We found Molly's Pub online and ate there on a weekend trip to NYC. It is so like the pubs in Ireland, cozy, authentic, with sawdust on the floor. The food was great--Shepard's pie, lamb stew, great beer and great service. Highly recommend!

My husband and I were here years ago and wanted to come back with our kids. Ordered some wings, mozzarella sticks and fries to share and we had a couple of drinks and soft drinks for the kids - The price including tip and tax was eye watering for what was basically heated up frozen bar snacks and service was non existent . It has lost its charm and welcoming atmosphere Would never go back ,

I've wanted to eat here ever since I saw a certain late night TV host do a sketch about Molly's. While I'm sure you can't beat this place for St. Patty's Day, we were pretty pleased with our April visit. Because it was finally beautiful outside, most people were eating outside. Lucky for us because Molly's can often have a wait out the door. I highly recommend any of the Irish beers on tap and the corned beef sandwich with Coleman's Mustard. My husband enjoyed the Sheppard's Pie. The fireplace and sawdust on the floor add to the Irish Pub experience.

Great place for a Guinness and food is also served in this small Irish bar. The air of authenticity is enhanced by the sawdust on the floor and service is quick and efficient from the friendly bar staff.

My wife and I were looking for an irish pub to grab a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. We stumbled upon this place by chance and it was fantastic! the most authentic Irish pub I've ever been to. It had friendly bartenders with genuine Irish brogues, delicious food and drinks. I am looking forward to going back again!

Standard Pub fare at a reasonable price for the location. It does get quite busy after 8pm, so time you meal well.

Molly’s Pub and Restaurant is located on Third Avenue. It’s an old Irish style bar and a restaurant down the back. Nice cozy atmosphere.

Im sad to report that the Mollys of yesterday is gone. Once a great pint and famous burger in a quiet spot has been invaded by yuppies. Wildly overcrowded, I asked if I could eat at the bar and the bartender told me yes but Id have to stand. OK, I'm good with most things---but lets think his out a minute----I have to stand and dart between drinkers to grab a fry. Just silly. The she walked away. Unfortunately the quaint local Irish Mollys is no more. But alas, NYC has a way of dealing with those who leave us for the jet set. I knew something was up when I came in the door and was met by a freak in a green suit and a menu. Another NYC icon falls.
Great food and atmosphere
After reading about Mollys Pub and Rest, I decided to pay a visit. Simply put, their hamburgers are the best. When your last bite is still more meat than bun, thats a good sign. For a NYC pub, the place is always busy, but the staff are super friendly and do their best to accomodate you. Our visit was during the Christmas break, so the inside was decorated very nicely with strands of christmas lights (pink/purple in the bar area & green/blue in the dining area ). I can't really review on the bar selection, as we kept ordering the same drink. If our server is reading this...we are the "three coors" people :) Highly recommend this pub and will certainly be returning in the summer. Also love the sawdust on the floor, very cool.
