Stopped in for a business dinner on a recent trip to New York. The food was very good, but the service was disappointing and the pricing was on the higher side.

I fancy myself a competent Greek cook, and I confess I was blown away by the excellence of the dishes we ordered. I loved that the moussaka was served in individual casseroles and was loaded with meat instead of potatoes and other filler. The "rolled" baklava was also excellent--I will try this technique next time I make it, as it keeps the pastry from being drowned in the honey syrup. The avgolemeno was very tasty but I prefer it thicker and missed the rice that they intentionally omitted in order to keep it light. And the wines were elevated as well--best retsina I've ever had. To top it off, I've seldom been served by anyone as pleasant and competent as Stavros. Definitely go here for the finest of Greek cuisine.

This place was an overall amazing dining experience. The most important aspect that made this place special was the owner. He was working the restaurant the entire time. You could tell he cared deeply about the restaurant and the customers enjoying the experience. The second most important thing was the food was incredible. Delicious Mediterranean food. A good sign that everything was good was the fact that we had 4 of us at the table sharing all the food and with each course every person had different favorite dishes. We argued which dishes were better the entire meal. It was very enjoyable experience. Atmosphere was quaint but not too stuffy. Felt very comfortable.

In search of a pre-theater dinner with a Mediterranean menu, my husband and I discovered this delightful gem. After a friendly welcome, we were seated at a window table and reflected on the relaxing, calm atmosphere of the dining room. We split the crisp Marouli salad with a fresh lemon vinaigrette. My husband loved the roasted leg of lamb wrap while I savored the baby lamb chops. We will definitely return when we have time to sample one of the promising desserts. What a wonderful find.

Really poor service experiences. Not very expensive but poor value for money. Ordered pancakes then they came and said it wasn’t coming out as expected and as opposed to asking what we would like instead decided to push the French toast on us. The meat in the gyros sliders was overcooked and the eggs in the Alexander the Great breakfast were undercooked despite specifically asking for well done. To top it all off there is a MANDATORY gratuity applied!!! Will never go back!

Stayed around the corner for a weeks visit and decided to have a look at the menu while trying a cocktail at the bar. None of the staff made a effort to seat us or to find out if we came to have tea or just drinks. After making it out to the bar by ourselves and sat down in front of the bar the staff (blond girl) totally ignored us while we sat in front of her. After 10 minutes she finally decided to stop ignoring us and we had to ask for a cocktail /drinks menu. Got the two cocktails and finished them as fast we could as if she really hates her job with an vengeance. After waiting for at least another 10 minutes to get my change back I made up my mind to not tip this delight of a woman. I don’t know if she had a bad day but Im skipping this restaurant. I doubt they care.

Recently a group of us visited this highly rated Greek restaurant for lunch and it did not disappoint. Service, selection of lunch items were all perfect and the prices were moderate. Would certainly go again.

Perfectly grilled, flavorful, and so fresh. My sister and I loved it. First time to be here and we'll definitely go back :)

was pleasantly surprised although I do agree the staff could be a little more welcoming and attentive. The portions we had whilst not huge, were adequate and it wouldn't stop us from returning.

It is wonderful to a return to a restaurant that you thought was good a few years ago and has now become terrific. From the spreads to the salads to the excellent grilled fish, this place will give Milos a run and at much lower prices! We had a pretheater table for 4 in a quiet corner of a large refurbished restaurant. Service was efficient and friendly. Our waiter was busy so another waiter took our order and pointed us towards some excellent Greek wines. I had the Grilled Pepper and Pureed Beet Spread with feta. Very smooth and full of flavor. The taramasalata (eggplant) was even better, rich and hard to stop eating complemented by some well grilled bread. The salads came next and they were both excellent according to my dining companions who praised the traditional Greek salad as well prepared. However the main course of freshly grilled branzino was spectacular, cooked in lemon and butter and filleted. This was enough for two people unless you are very hungry. The roast chicken was well liked but the best was the crispy Pacific cod atop a bed of fresh beets with a delicious skordalia (a traditional Greek dip made with a potato base, lots of garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, and salt.) All ingredients came together perfectly, one of the best Greek dishes I have ever had. The creamy cherry rice pudding topped off a wonderful meal at about half of the price of Milos around the corner. Those who have not been here recently are in for a treat. I look forward to coming back for an encore.

Great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere for dine in. Must try if you are in the area and will definitely coming back!

Four of us for lunch on a Saturday at Molyvos provided a quiet escape from nearby Times Square. We had a noon reservation, not sure we needed it. We had to wait for them to unlock the door. Oddly, the room remained quiet and not so busy. That makes it a great place to do some good talking while enjoying great food. The menu is very nice. Two of us had the octopus salad which was delicious but the greens were very minced, almost too much so, great flavor but nothing to chew into. One had the octopus appetizer for entree and it looked nicer. I would like to try a return visit for dinner. As always, check out their menu on line before going that way you will know what to expect for selection and prices.

Waiter played a nasty trick on me. My limit is one glass of wine. He opened a bottle of wine and brought it to the table. My first date ended up taking the bottle home. Epic date fail. Epic restaurant fail. Never returning.

It’s a tradition for us to stop in for a glass of prosecco, a martini and the grilled octopus. We always just sit at the bar and love it! Service is so great! Not cheap but so amazing!

Our arrival set the tone for our visit, sadly. Even though we were first to enter the door--and were acknowledged by the hostess--she went ahead and seated two groups who came right after us, even though we had reservations. It was like we suddenly became invisible and it was then our fault for waiting. The food was good--we shared a collection of plates--but waitress was curt in taking our orders and similarly in presenting the food and bill. Seems, from other reviews, that the staff needs some courtesy training.

We had a wonderful early dinner, Molyvos is perfectly located for pre-or post theater visits. It was a beautiful warm late October day, so we were able to be seated outside. The outdoor area is absolutely lovely, there are heaters and shade coverings in case it is a hot summer day. The service and food were top-notch. we especially appreciated the friendly and thoughtful service. It was attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely return!

Tried their Galaktobouriko Baklava and it didn’t disappoint! A must-try — packed with flavour and beautifully presented.

If there is a better tomato and feta salad on earth, please let me know. Until then, I'm sticking with Molyvos' version. The only problem is that with the prix fixe pre-theater dinner (a reasonable $48), one can't also have the legendary chicken soup instead of dessert. The Atlantic salmon was excellent, though the bed of lentils detracted from the dish. The various ouzos are all marvelous, as are the Greek wines. Coffee is superb. Service is attentive and unrushed. Molyvos is one of the most consistently excellent restaurants in the theater district. Always a good meal.

Molyvos is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is very good, and the restaurant is very lovely. Service was good, I'd recommend this restaurant if you're in the neighborhood. You won't be disappointed.

We have eaten here many times over the years and aren’t disappointed. We had 3 dips/spreads to start, along with the Greek salad. All were excellent. For mains we had striped bass, scallops, lamb chops and a lamb shank. All but the lamb shank were excellent. The lamb shank wasn’t as tender as we expected. For wine we had a bottle of assyrtiko from Santorini and 2 glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon. Both were delicious. Service could have been better, as we waited a long time to get a wine list.

This place is very nice and feels cozy. It's cold in NY right now and it's good to be in a nice and warm place. The music is perfect and the ambience is inviting. Overall, good place. We ordered the Prix Fixed menu, which you can see in my pictures. I got to say that the soup is so good, tastes like homemade soup. The tomato salad was great, too. Between the orecchietti and the chicken, I'll go with the chicken. The pasta was not cooked appropriately. The rest was very good. I'll come back without a problem.

Delicious food and great service. So authentically Greek. I could not recommend it more highly.also very convenient to Carnegie Hall and midtown.

We love Greek food and we were staying nearby so gave it a shot. The food was pretty good though I’ve had better. The restaurant is nice and it is pretty fancy; with a price tag to match. It has Greek decor which is nice but I think something smaller, taverna style, would have been more enjoyable. We had a selection of small plates, to remind us of our time in Greece and , though not bad, even home cooked food at a local Greek church whose festival we attend once a year is better. This place is very big and the staff weren’t particularly friendly so next time I think we will try one of the other Greek options nearby.

We had an authentic Greek gastronomic feast! Excellent, tasty appetizers, main courses , even a nice Greek craft ale. Very friendly staff! Reasonable prices. I strongly recommend!

Another stellar dining experience at molyvos! Never disappoints! Top favorites the flaming halloumi saganaki with that dreamy lemon sauce, grilled octopus and of course the juicy top notch lamb chops! Patio was lovely felt like I was in a taverna in Greece! The all Greek wine list is one of a kind! Lovely attentive not intrusive service! Thank you molyvos!

I've been here twice for work celebrations, and the food has been good twice. My first Greek experience. While I never saw a menu since we had finger foods prepared for us, I really enjoyed the caviar mousse spread as well as something empanada-like. It's lighter (color and weight) than an empanada and a different shape, but is filled with spinach and cheese. Delicious. One coworker had kalamari and another had steak. They were happy with their choices. They have some vegan options too.

What a beautiful restaurant, stunning food and quality service. Could not fault this meal at all would highly recommend to anyone. Greek salad was beautiful. Chicken and potatoes were so delicious.

We’ve spent many NYE dinners here. The food is always good. The fish dishes are delicious. The Greek salad is great. We were a little disappointed this year that the didn’t decorate.

Roasted chicken is very good. Service was good. Not crowded on a Wednesday night. Very upscale dining area. Should have ordered a salad. Did not order dessert. Will return. It is worth the walk. One block South of Central Park.

we went to this restaurant for dinner. Had a great meal. Fabulous food and nice service. Will certainly go back

Before attending a performance at the Metropolitan Opera I decided to eat at Molyvos. I have been there before and knew what I wanted. Moussaka. I started with the avgolemono soup (chicken soup with egg and lemon and dill). It is very good and different from the avgolemono my mother used to make. The moussaka is delicious and quite different from what you might have in other Greek restaurants. Molyvos is a city on Lesvos so seafood is abundant on the menu. This ain't a Greek diner so the price is up there but I think worth it. Great service. There is the bar, the table cloth section of the restaurant and the taverna style section overlooking 7th Avenue.

We have enjoyed eating here many times with friends or just the two of us. But this time the restaurant looked shabby, food had little seasoning, and we didn't get our drinks until we were already eating. With so many restaurants nearby I'd hesitate to return.

We stopped in with our family during our vacation to New York City. We have never had such amazing Greek food before in our lives. Outside from the food, the staff, decor and music were so delightful. This was our favorite restaurant during our holiday. Thank you Molyvos!

Great little restaurant not far from Times Square, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The food was delicious, no complaints from us! Probably more than I would like to have paid, however guessing that’s New York Prices!

Our hotel concierge (Marriott Pulse) recommended Molyvos to us and we are glad she did! We had reservation and were quickly greeted and seated. The menu had so many tempting choices but we finally settled on grilled octopus, mitilini meatballs and skordalia (a garlicy potato spread for pita bread. The octopus was the best we have had since we visited Greece! The meatballs were excellent, too. This was our first time having skordalia but it certainly won't be the last! Love the atmosphere here and we had excellent service from Nawfal. We are looking forward to a return visit.

From the sad employees to mediocre food, this place was very disappointing. Greeted by a woman who looked unhappy to be there, then waited on by a waitress who seemed annoyed she was working. To soggy, greasy calamari, saganaki topped with terrible tasting liquid. 3 of the smallest lamb chops you can find for $48 (photo in trip advisor shows 6) Mediocre presentation. They were so anxious I guess to leave, the food came out so fast and at one time. Nothing here. Very disappointing. I had a rewards program that allowed for 15% discount, they denied it even though it says good for parties up to 6. Tourist Trap. Buyer Beware

Came here with a group of 5 people and had no issue getting seated. They are also listed on opentable so you can double dip rewards if you know how. The place has tons of seating. Definitely a well established restaurant. I only tried the braised beef short ribs. Meat was extremely tender. No bone. Sauce was excellent. The polenta was decent, still felt a little grainy. I think the portion size was slightly on the smaller side. A little bigger piece and it would be perfect. The restaurant is pricey but rightfully so. The service was okay. They were professional about it or at least tried to make it appear that way but the body language and tone was a little off putting. Yes we appeared to look like we're a younger group but still didn't feel a homey environment. I think the dish I had was solid so I'll probably come back here to try other things.

From the wine to the dessert, everything was outstanding! The atmosphere is great and the service perfect. The menu has a nice selection for all tastes. I’ll be remembering this dinner for a long time!

Went to this restaurant because it was accessible from the Wellington Hotel where we were staying. Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout our meal. The food was exceptional and we were glad to have found this restaurant.

I’ve been here before and enjoyed the atmosphere and the food . This time we were seated up front behind the bar, it was a totally different experience. Drinks took a while to arrive, but appetizer was served immediately. Entrees came fairly quickly also. Did I say this is an expensive restaurant? We shared the saganaki which was ok... and very small portion for the price. The mousaka was kind of dry. Well why should I go on? The food used to be worth the price. I came in expecting an upscale restaurant

What a great experience. The drinks were hearty. The food fresh. Best grilled octopus. She prepared salad for table and at dinner the whole fishe black sea bass and branzino. White wine from Cyprus. Dessert best ever. Wish I could share name. Almonds with baklava but not overwhelmed with honey. It isenlisted at the bottom of the dessert menu. Waitress recommended it. It was not cheap meals but I felt appropriate for what we ate and drank.

Had a great time at this Greek spot! We had a few drinks and a delicious greek spread. Warm hospitality and the perfect place to enjoy classic Greek flavors.

Fabulous starters, interesting entrees and always fresh tasting food that is served in what feels like an Athenian dinner house, Service, value, and really good Greek choices...you cannot order enough starters...the lamb Gouvetsi excellent!

I really wanted to love it. But the Greek wine was very weak and underwhelming and the Greek olive oil had no taste. The octopus was just OK.

Was there six months ago with friends and it was outstanding. Last night was a great disappointment. Overcooked grilled swordfish and weak decaf coffee. Prices seemed higher with less food quality. Very good service.

The restaurant is attached to the hotel where I was staying (The Wellington). I had the Crab Cake appetizer which was delightful. There were 6 small Crab Cakes that were excellent. The garnish and accompanying sauce were just right. The Seafood Pilaf was also a treat. There were several large shrimp and mussels. The rice was seasoned long grain rice. The Samos Sangria went well with the meal, although next time I will ask for less ice.

We arrived for our booked table and the lady who was at the front desk seemed to be very deliberate in making out I wasn't making sense and kept asking me to repeat myself. Once we managed to get around her, the rest of the time was fine - really nice food and friendly waiters

We had a great time at this place. The food was so good, I suggest ordering the grilled octopus and the Moussaka. The service was also good, no complaints!

We happened to be standing outside Molyvos when we were deciding to have lunch. It was a real find! It is upscale Greek food, so a little pricey. But the ambiance was lovely. Felt like I was in Greece. And the service excellent. We had the roast chicken, the stuffed peppers and a salad. The bread is lovely and warm!

We choose this eatery for lunch because of the location to our hotel and the TA reviews. I had the Spanakopita, a Greek Salad, and my partner ordered the fixed price lunch with the Winter Salad, Grilled Salmon, and Greek Yogurt dessert. We enjoyed everything and the service was quick and efficient. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because our waiter was in a big hurry, not very talkative, and didn’t take the time to fully answer our questions.

Baklava for dessert was the perfect finish—crispy, sweet, and not too heavy. The roast lamb was melt-in-your-mouth good. Felt like a warm, family-run spot with heart.

We had an early evening reservation, so it wasn’t very busy when we arrived. The wines are Greek, I was more than happy to try something a little different, and I was pleased with what I chose. We both ordered the fillet Mignon skewers with potatoes, cooked to perfection and our individual liking. Puddings were amazing, if you order a sundae, be prepared to share, they are HUGE. Not your everyday sundae, it was made with Greek pastries and ice creams etc. Definitely not the cheapest, $140 including tip, but worth it for a treat.

Although there are many great restaurants in the area, we always find ourselves back here when in the city for an overnight stay. We have never been disappointed with the food or service.

We always look for Molyvos type restaurant on our travels and this place was within walking distance of The Hilton Garden Inn On West 54th. The menu was extensive with fresh tender pita and scrumptious hummus brought gratis to our table. The avgolemono soup was the best I’ve tasted with lots of chicken and lemony flavor. Trying small plates, I chose spanikopita and kephalonia meat pie, both of which were hot, tasty and full of meat, cheese and veggies. My husband enjoyed his Greek Village salad and lamb shank entree which was large and tender. Too full for dessert we declined. Service was efficient but not personal and even though the dining room was almost full, we felt a bit more service was warranted as I was never asked about my dinner and wine which was the only weak part of my dining experience. If you like high end Greek/Mediterranean, Molyvos is a good option

We came in from California for the Macy's Day Parade over Thanksgiving and made an advanced reservation at Molyvos. The reviews are inconsistent but we decided to give them a try. They did not disappoint. Service was on spot. The food was absolutely wonderful. We went with the prix fixe menu for Thanksgiving dinner with wine pairing. Everything was sooooo good! They are an upscale restaurant but some people did not dress for the occasion. We did. There is a lot of scaffolding around the city and it appears that there is a lot of restoration work going on. This did not distract from the ambiance inside. The photos people have posted are just like the interior of the restaurant. Spacious. You don't feel like you are sitting on top of each other. We would definitely give them a try again. Thank you for a great meal and service.

We went there for two couples. My experience in traveling to Athens and having contact with real greek food says this is NOT even close to a good example of it. The food is not well seasoned, neither prepared. It doesn’t taste even closer to Greece experience. The attendants are rude, don’t explain anything and turned the dinner worst. AVOID!!

When I come to New York, I try to get down to 43rd St. to eat at the wonderful outstanding restaurant Molyvos. From the manager to the bus boys, the service is fantastic. But most of all the food is absolutely delicious. I had the lamb shank and it was wonderful. I have a hard time deciding what I’ll get because I also love their scallops, which are second to none. They have the best Bronzino that you can get anywhere. I know people don’t like to walk through Times Square but you can get there just by walking over the ninth Avenue and walking down and it’s right on the corner of ninth Avenue and 43rd and you can avoid Times Square. You won’t wanna leave and that’s a good thing because the desserts are delectable. I had one with almond flour and it was wonderful.

Met a friend here before the theatre. Service was prompt, but not pushy, and we had plenty of time to have a nice visit and still make our curtains. Broad menu and each dish was tasty, if not exceptional. I would return if we were in the neighborhood. Beet mash starter was very good.

This wonderful Greek restaurant was for many years just around the corner from Carnegie Hall and was visited regularly. A year or so ago they moved to 43rd and 9th. Well worth a visit to their “new” neighborhood. I confess i took a chance and went without a reservation. They were completely booked! I must have looked so forlorn that the manager actually moved a small table inside from the patio! Sitting in splendor next to the bar area I witnessed a restaurant running at the peak of perfection. Great service. Wonderful menu. Terrific atmosphere. Extremely kind to a solo diner. I’m always delighted when a favorite restaurant manages to survive and in this case, thrive, in a tough market. Cannot recommend Molyvos more highly. Go. Enjoy!

We have eaten at Molyvos for years and have always enjoyed the food - and still do. We both worked in the theatre district for many years, so we’ve had many lunches and dinners there, largely during the week. We had dinner there last Saturday night before the theatre and were struck by the unfriendliness of the staff at the reservation desk. Is it because they were dismissing us as tourists having a pre-theatre dinner? If so, that is a sad comment on the attitude of the restaurant. Is it because they were new and not properly trained? But, it was almost laughable how they made us feel like they were doing us a favor by honoring our reservation. At first it made us laugh, but it left a bad feeling.

Sat at the bar. The bartender Alexandra was wonderful. Chatted with us and recommended the right dish for dinner. The lamb shank was tender, juicy, perfectly prepared. She brought us a little surprise. Baklava ice cream!

I was initially skeptical at my first glance at Molyvos, too corporate, too sterile etc. But I was wrong, service was friendly & efficient, staff was helpful, and the owner was working the room In a genuinely nice and helpful manner, but most of all, the food was great. Not exactly grandma’s recipes but instead a perfectly executed presentation of Greek favorites and modern European dishes. Pricey? yes but consistent with other NYC offerings. A great overall experience!

Our overall experience of food, service, and environment was terrific. Most of us had the prix fixe menu which was excellent and good value. Every single item tasted good -no misses. Finished in lots of time to enjoy a casual stroll to our play.

My friend and I ate here on our first night as it was opposite our hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. I did order my lamb well done and there was blood all on the plate but they did rectify this as soon as I mentioned it. Food is delicious and restaurant is very nice. Highly recommend.

One of the best greek restaurants I've been too. I went there with my wife and were greeted with a smile and absolutely great service. The food was very delicious. The Mosakaa was great. All beef dishes are great as well.

This is one of my favorite places to dine at when I am attending a performance at Carnegie Hall. I recently even managed to coordinate it with a performance of traditional Greek music! The food is inventive enough to please the most sophisticated palates, while still using Mediterranean ingredients for their Greek inspired dishes. Their pre theater menu is particularly good value.

Arrived at 10 after a concert at Carnegie Hall. Waitress was cheerful and accommodating despite this. She gave m a taste of one one of many Greek wines offered by the glass and was not bothered that I rejected her first recommendation. The food is superb sardines marinated on then toast or tangy and juicy. My husband’s whole grilled fish was cooked to perfection. The grilled bread and dip to start equally fabulous. My only complaint is with the cavernous space and bland decor. I will definitely return.

Delicious Greek food and wines. Very good service. The menu is a bit pricey but that’s to be expected for midtown Manhattan.

Midtown greek Nice service. The roasted Lamb Sandwich its awesome. Very good option. The shrimp hummus

We went with friends and enjoyed our dinner very much. We have eaten their several times and it is always excellent food with excellent staff and service. My husband started with sardines appetizer which was excellent. He also had the lamb kabob which was delicious. It had vegetables with it on a skewer. I had the watermelon salad which was good. Also had the lamb kabob. Had Baklava for desert. It was the best. There Appeltini's were the best. Always want to go to Molyos when in New York. It is reasonably priced and the perfect atmosphere.

I’ve been coming here for years, and after several years away I recently started coming ago. The food is always great, service processnal, everything super fresh. Glad I’m back!

Precooked, tasteless and a pity..The appetizers were good except hummus was overpowered by hot raw garlic..My wife’s food was ok…My chicken was luke warm and my overcooked potatoes were gelatinous .We were rushed …

Fantastic meal, sat at the bar with the most amazing bartender. She was attentive and made sure our food was prepared perfectly to manage allergies/ preferences. She was on top of every detail. Amazing wine selection and best in class octopus. Beautiful setting. Can’t wait to go back!

I always enjoy stopping here when I'm in the city. The bartender is always friendly and mixes a great cocktail. I always get the Octopus because it is consistently delicious. One of my favorite places in the city!

Meals here are always good. Excellent service and traditional Greek dishes. The moussaka and baklava are always a hit! You’ll enjoy whatever you order here. Enjoy!

My complaint with this restaurant is that their preparations are too fancy--attempts to escape from the basics that endear Greek food to me. Too upscale for my idea of Greek favorites. My wife and I returned to this midtown favorite a couple of weeks ago with friends and I ordered the only leg of lamb dish on the menu. I was disappointed when it was unrecognizable by either sight or flavor as it was served wrapped in a white sauce. No lamb flavor. As usual, my wife and the others said they loved what they ordered. Go figure...Prices are high-- this is midtown Manhattan.

Three of us went for an early dinner before a show at City Center. Greek food is not always at the top of my list, but I would come back here! The decor and ambiance are very nice. The servers were attentive and sensitive to our show time. I had a very tasty blood orange martini to start. I wasn’t too hungry, so had two appetizers for dinner: a delicious roasted tomato soup and then grilled marinated shrimp salad. My wife had a fabulous roasted eggplant as an appetizer, and my son had the roasted free range chicken, which was the best dish at the table. Apparently the kitchen knows how to roast! For dessert order the Ravani...mmm-mmm!

We chose Molyvos because we were going to a concert at Carnegie Hall. However, it was so good that even without the proximity to the venue, it's worth going here. Service was cheerful; one of our party ordered a Dewar's and got a bourbon, but they replaced and offered a complimentary drink in addition. Two of our party ordered the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu (lentil soup, keftedes, stuffed cabbage, dessert) and we were very happy with our choices. DH ordered a fish which they deboned, and the coriander potatoes which were delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. The ambiance is very pleasant. The coffered ceiling keeps noise down. I love Periyali but I have to say that Molyvos has the nicer decor,

We came upon Molyvos as we were walking to another restaurant for dinner. They had outdoor seating which was great and we looked at their menu and decided to try it. Everything was delicious and our server Despina did a great job and was a delight. We shared the hummus, my girlfriend had their seafood pilaf & I had their crabcakes salad. I highly recommend this place.

Two members of our party had the 3 course fixed price dinner, and two of us did not. Lahano Dolmads (Stuffed Napa Cabbage with Ground Lamb, Beef & Pork), Lavraki (Sea Bass), Yemista (Stuffed Red Pepper - vegetarian), Spanakopita (Filo pastry with spinach), tasty but you only got 4 small pieces and they were fairly expensive. Everyone enjoyed their meal. It was tasty, overall very good but not the best Greek food. We had ordered a variety of spreads, but our server forgot to bring them. Our dinner was also accompanied with a nice bottle of red wine. The atmosphere was pleasant, not too noisy. The restaurant was not too busy at 6:30 pm. Overall recommended.

My lady and I haven't been here for some time. We come when there is something at Carnegie Hall or City Center. We shared a grilled octopus with artichokes, tomatoes and chickpeas delicious. For mains she had a whole fish Lavraki. I had Tsipoura whole as well both in olive oil lemon and mustard, different. We ordered for sides lemon potatoes and swiss chard, excellent. This is a place for an occasion. It can be very pricey, but worth it.

If you like Greek food, then you don't want to miss this place. Best octopus ever! Very reasonably priced.

conveniently located across the street from the park central hotel, where we were staying, molyvos is a great restaurant for Greek food. seafood and lamb choices were all very tasty, and the grilled octopus melted in our mouths. service was perfect, and the atmosphere was quiet enough to allow for conversation while dining.

We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The food presentation and service is always on target. On our last visit we had Salmon, Seafood Piilaf, Kolonaki and Monemvasta. All great. Looking forward to returning.

I used to love Molyvos, and maybe lunch is a better bet, but we just had dinner with friends and it was surprisingly just okay. The moussaka was tasty but priced quite high ($30) for such a small portion (one little crock,, with no sides). We had to ask repeatedly until our pita bread basket was refilled. The spreads were just ok (taramasalata and eggplant) and the Greek Village Salad ($18) was barely big enough to share small pieces. The servers seemed indifferent at best. Clearly, they've got a great location and lots of business, so perhaps the lack of a welcoming atmosphere doesn't matter to others. It did to us.

Three friends went before a Manhattan Theater play at City Center. Food selection and service much better than I expected for a restaurant on Seventh Avenue. The choice of three dips, for $30, was an excellent appetizer for us. I had stuffed cabbage rolls, another had stuffed peppers and the third a salad. All were good. For me the only negative was they only had Greek wines

We sat at the bar two or 3 night had G & Ts and a Brandy service was ok but not very friendly meaning not looking as if they want to be there. The drinks were fine but typically expensive and still want you to tip for lack of service. We had a meal on the last night of our stay we asked concierge during the afternoon if we needed to book he said no as we were eating after 7pm. When we entered the restaurant the head waiter said we should have booked as if there was a problem with a spare table but he found us one surrounded by at least 12 empty tables and abut 8 diners near us. The waitress did not give good service but the chef that served my Ouzo Flamed Haloumi at the table was different again he had a little bit of banter with us which was lacking with other members of staff he was very pleasant. Would we eat or drink here again NO

My only regret about Molyvos is that we didn't eat there twice during a long NYC weekend. It was excellent all around. Now, it's possible that one of its excellent features--the serene atmosphere--was the product of our showing up at 8:00 on a Saturday, after the music and theater crowd had left. But my guess is that the good (for Manhattan) table spacing and the muted decor would make for a calm experience even at peak times. The cuisine was remarkably good, especially the grilled seafood which is too rarely available and too often ruinously expensive when it is. I had more first-rate grilled sardines than I could eat (and I can eat a LOT of grilled sardines) for a little more than $30--a bargain in that neighborhood. Kudos as well for the grilled vegetable appetizer, a massive platter of five or six different kinds of vegetables with a mound of ricotta cheese and preserved fruit. We'll be back.

Nothing really wrong, but not as good as expected from the many positive reviews. Very fast service. Too fast: 40’ for appetizers and main course. The appetizer were very good, but the main course quite disappointing. Especially the Greek flagship: the moussaka. It was not wrong, but also nothing special. Easier to find better version in a fast food.

Wonderful Greek restaurant in central Manhattan. The food was excellent, the service prompt and helpful, the wine selection the best of any Greek restaurant we have visited. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an upscale Greek restaurant experience.

We have been going here for over 20 some years- always visit when in New York City. The bar is always a great way to start- mixed drinks, Greek wines and beers..then the dinners are fabulous. My family is Greek. We are picky. Molyvos is always consistent and delicious. We were there not long before they were closing in the current location. Looking forward to the next local.

We went here for a late dinner and were not overly hungry so I ordered a couple of apps while my partner had the lamb shank which I had to taste and it was very flavorful without being overpowering allowing the lamb taste to come through - also succulent and tender. But my grilled octopus was the best I've had anywhere including some great restaurants in Greece. Not only tender but artfully spiced with herbs and served on a bed of greens with halved cherry tomatoes. I would go back just for this, anytime. We shared a Molyvos sundae for desert with pistachio ice cream and it was also excellent and a perfect ending to a great experience. Our waitress with newly arrived from Greece and that added additional charm to our meal.

There is nothing to complain about here. The space is pretty, there isn't any obtrusive music, and the service is excellent. The food is not EXACTLY what you might get in a Greek Taverna, but rather an artistic re-visioning of it. So everything we got was beautifully presented and tasted very good. So if you are expecting to spend a lot of money on this sort of thing, it's great. If you are just looking for a simple Greek meal (which is always fine with me; it's a great cuisine) it's an interesting experience but tough on the wallet.

Went here for lunch and ordered off the Prixe Fix menu. The food was delicious, healthy and so much food! The desserts were delicious as well! If you have the chance - go here! I can't wait to go back!

Went to Molyvos with two colleagues at 6.30pm on a Tuesday night having made a reservation a few hours prior. The restaurant was busy on arrival. I went for the calamari to start. It was average, the batter way too heavy. I tasted a bit of colleague’s octopus starter, however, and that was very good indeed. I then ordered the swordfish kebabs for main and some asparagus and some wild greens (basically a bit of cabbage) for the table. The mains were brought out but not the veg. We questioned where they were and they were brought almost as I was finishing my main. They were also way overpriced at $12 each for what was received. I had to ask for some serving cutlery for the veg but the waitress wasn’t listening at first and said, “this is the asparagus, these are the wild greens”. No way! The main was ok, nothing special. I then had the cold rice pudding with cherries for dessert which was very, very tasty. My colleague ordered the mixed baklava but then one very large traditional baklava came. The order was clearly wrong. We then received the original order and received the wrong order on the house. For food, a 3-4 star experience. Service was two stars. With an iced tea each and after leaving a tip despite the poor service, we spent just under $300 for three. Given the experience, unlikely to return. Overall three stars.

Molyvos is an excellent greek restaurant in midtown. We visited for a brunch-time meal with friends. It was a sunday, and the place was close to empty. Perhaps it’s because the front of the building is shrouded in netting and scaffolding. Once inside, the atmosphere is excellent, and unless you choose something close to the street, is quiet and relaxing. The service is excellent, and the menu choices are varied and interesting. The meals were well prepared, even with special instuctions/restrictions. It’s a little pricy, but for midtown, it’s reasonable. It’s a great place for a cozy meal and discussion.

Went here after a Broadway show with high expectations of amazing fare but it was just average. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean/Seafood but wife and I were not wowed by anything. Certainly delicious, but not nearly as fresh or tasty as our go two go-to places in NJ. We went at 5pm on a Sunday (dead in there) so got seated right away. I did like our server; we explained our allergies and things we can't have and she went out of her way to verify that what we ordered would be okay (thank you!). The meal starts with a basket of assorted breads. We ordered vegetables, saganaki, and spinach pies to start. The vegetables were cooked the way we wanted (all sauces on side) but way overpriced, the saganaki prepared normal (delicious!), and the spinach pies were a waste. Four small pieces to share, and its tastes and reminds me of the bulk pack you buy at Costco. There was nothing memorable there, and it wasn't steaming hot. For the main we ordered the Lavraki (which we typically order at any Greek/Mediterranean restaurant) but I didnt find it nearly as fresh or tasty as our local places (at double the price) with no sides. Also ordered the lobster special stuffed with crab and scallops. We enjoyed it but again not wowed. Its probably a 1 1/4lb lobster; they crack the claws and tails so you can easily take out the meat, and there is stuffing in the middle with breadcrumbs on top. I wish they did a better job of cleaning out the "green" stuff in the middle of the lobster before stuffing it. Ordered the lemon garlic potatoes and greens on the side. Greens were salty but tasty, and the potatoes were okay, but way down on my list of best places to buy lemon potatoes. They were mildly garlicky and lemony, but mushy. At $24 we were very underwhelmed. Baklava is just one or two small bites, and very sweet. YMMV if you like that sweet but we dont. The places is very nice inside, but the food quality and preparation we experienced did not warrant the cost. Had high hopes for this place, but cannot recommend it. This is a restaurant that is part of the Livanos group, so if you are looking for a different upscale restaurant, I would recommend going to Ouisa (also in midtown on the west side) instead here.

I met a business colleague at Molyvos for lunch. The decor reminded me of a restaurant I might have visited while in Greece with lots of whites and blues. Even the water came in cobalt blue bottles! My colleague has the Slow Roasted Leg Of Lamb Sandwich with Roasted Bell Peppers, Sumac Onions, Kasseri cheese,Yogurt Garlic Sauce, Onion Sourdough Bread,Spiced Potato Chips, and Greek Slaw - She said it was incredible. I had the Free Range Chicken Burger Salad on Mixed Greens, with Chick Peas, Oven Dried Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives, Lesvos Feta, Pickled Green Tomatoes, Tzatziki & Pita - I absolutely loved it! Everything was so very fresh. The service was also fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant - I know I will return again and again!

We were lucky enough to have a regular patron take us here. We had a feast, sampling all the food. The beet spread, yum. Try the flaming Halumi; it’s delicious cheese toasted in flames, doused with a lemon sauce. We sampled the chicken soup, the halibut, grilled octopus, baklava and ice cream. Left full but not stuffed. Very pleasant restaurant, attentive staff.

Sat at the bar after a stressful doctor visit. Got a good drink and good food. The only problem was the bartender...MISERABLE. I have no problem spending money on food and drinks but please smile and give me a few pleasantries.

We showed up at Molyvos without a reservation and fortunately they were able to accommodate us. We were a table of 6. We didn't want a big meal so we sampled most of the appetizers on their menu and a had a few desserts. The food, atmosphere, environment and the hospitality were great.

The cucumber melon soup was amazing!!! I was intrigued by the "orange " wine, because I like to explore. We also had red snapper and dolmades. The pita and olive oil were deliciously flavored. Dessert of almond orange cake, berries with (real!!) Greek yogurt, speckled with vanilla beans. Outdoor seating was lovely. Service also fantastic! And, did I mention the soup???

There is no better place to dine in New York City. I have been going to Molyvos for years and I always look forward to it this time I had the scallops and the only way I could describe them is perfect. Usually I get octopus and the bronzing but it was close to closing time. I needed something sweet, but with no sugar and there’s strawberry yogurt with pistachios is wonderful. This is very close to the theater district and it’s open till 10 on weekdays. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Even the manager is great and you can’t beat Malyvos for food. Ambience and service. I love it

Even if you know nothing about Greek food. Let your waiter pick (3) cheeses for an outstanding appetizer. Always trust the roasted chicken and the seafood pilaf is to die for.

Nice atmosphere and service was good. Portions were a bit small but all entrees were nicely plated and fresh tasting.

If you love Greek food, and you’re visiting NYC, look no further. The food here was AMAZING, and we were able to get a reservation same-day. Grilled octopus, flaming Haloumi cheese, Taverna salad, lamb shank, grilled salmon, and the best moussaka I’ve ever had. Even the drinks were great. I tried a Blood orange Martini - yummy! End with Greek coffee. A delicious meal in a lovely restaurant, with excellent service. Will definitely return!

Went here for after dinner drinks with a coworker last night. Sat at the bar and the bartender was FANTASTIC! We had wanted a nice dry Cabernet but she suggested a fabulous Greek wine that was a Cabernet Franc. DELISH! Based on the service, the wine and the decor of the restaurant we will be back for sure and highly recommend!

On a recommendation from a dear friend, who happens to be a first generation Greek American, we had lunch at Molyvos on 7th Avenue. In retrospect, it was a great decision; it is a wonderful dining experience. From the moment you enter until you are graciously thanked for dining is an absolute delight. The menu is full of classic Greek cuisine and we found tour choices to be simply wonderful. We are experienced New York City restaurant goers and this place is one of the few on our must return list.

This was an excellent choice for a greek lunch in New York. The food and the service were excellent. We would go back

Beautiful decor and very good food but overpriced. E.g., $17 for 5 single-bite dolmades (smallest I’ve ever seen). We had 1 glass of wine per person, no dessert and bill came to over $100 per person pre-tip. Did not appreciate bus staff pushing bottles of water on us even when we requested tap. If price is a consideration, avoid appetizers, stick with mains and insist on tap water even if staff pretends not to understand.

Warm and enjoyable evening. Enjoyed the Ouzo flamed halloumi and the moussaka. The Greek beers are also nice.

Uninspiring, far from the best Greek food. Stuffed Cabbage was drab, tasteless, and the presentation messy and bleak looking. Ordinary Salmon, nothing Geek. Starter "meat balls", why bother. Difficult to understand what is the attraction. Better options, such as Dafni Greek Taverna,

We LOVE Greek food!!! So we were super excited to find a restaurant that just a minute walking distance from our hotel. My favorite dish is moussaka with lemon potatoes. We ordered that along with the lamb cannelloni. SUPER DELISH!!!! AUTHENTIC! AUTHENTIC! AUTHENTIC! Now I must say the potatoes could have been more "lemony" but still very good. Will definitely return whenever we go back to New York,

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Molyvos. The setting is lovely and the noise level was fine. Service was very good. Most importantly, the food was great. We opted to order a bunch of dishes, including several appetizers, for the four of us to share which worked wonderfully.

Despite what reviews say, moussaka is not what you want to order here. Go for the fish. Swordfish souvlaki was excellent. Let the knowledgeable staff guide you through the Greek wine list - we loved our choice and it fueled 3 hours of conversation!

We were here for a pre-Broadway musical dinner and the place did not disappoint. Great appetizers, great main course (Molyvos Pasticcio and seafood pilaf were both great), and good efficient service. Good for a pre-theater dinner.

Excellent food and service. Really enjoyable experience whilst visiting NYC with family. My only criticism would be that the place is noisy but this is a sign of the fact that it was busy and everyone appeared to be have a great time. Just difficult to hear each other at times.

It would be almost impossible to find a Greek restaurant any better than this. For the very beginning entry and seating to the wonderful service the marvelous decor and the incredible food this tops every Greek restaurant in which I have ever dined. Order the flaming saganake, experiment with the grilled octopus, go Greek when you’re here, it is a Greek restaurant. I have recommended it to friends and have eaten here several times myself. It is the top mid town restaurant for me

The atmosphere was pleasant. The food was good, the salad was great. Our server was pleasant but we were a bit off put. We were seated at a table then asked to move for a VIP (who always sits at that table), we had no problem with that. Then the hostess passed us & mentioned that the VIP chose to sit at a different table, why would we care? Then our server basically disappeared so she could give the VIP all the attention. Just a note- as a business owner, all of our customers/ clients are VIP's, and to suggest otherwise is foolish. We will not return.

The food is amazing, the environment cozy and the service is exceptional. This is clearly run by a family who cares about every aspect of the dining experience.

Molyvos has been serving exceptional Greek food for close to 20 years now. The dishes are exceptionally prepared and portions are quite generous. We chose the fixed price lunch and were not disappointed: for $32 per person, you get an appetizer, an entree and dessert. Service is consistently friendly and efficient--as well as informative. The staff is more than happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations.

Stayed at the wellington (great hotel) thought give the Greek restaurant a try first night, wish I didn’t, what a terrible experience firstly waitress was quite rude, clearly made us feel like we didn’t belong there, secondly the menu doesn’t have prices on so you don’t know what your paying, finally the food was just ok but portion size was tiny, I had Greek salad well just call it tomatoes with feta cheese on then mousaka was just a small portion in a dish nothing else came with it, and finally desert was a chocolate mouse which was just ok nothing special my sister had soup but it didn’t have a flavour , then she had a steak with a bit of mash with it and we both shared a small jug of white wine, total cost was about £160.00 dollars (what a waste of money) save your money go over the street to the 920 restaurant what a contrast great food, great service, and a lot cheaper.

A wonderful range of selections, from appetizers to mains, beautiful presentaitons, perfectly cooked fish, the freshest produce, and very attentive service. And it's relatively quiet -- which is also an attraction. A definite go-t-

We were seated immediately as it was not overly crowded. Water was offered at once as well as bread placed at our table and our menus were brought to the table. The waiter answered a question about wine and we were allowed time to make our selection. To start we selected a Greek salad and Avgolemono chicken soup. Our next plates consisted of Hummus, very tasty, and Spanakorizo Keftedes, which are Crispy Spinach, Rice and Feta Fritters. It didn't take long for these plates to arrive, though meatballs were initially brought instead of the fritters. The Fritters were excellent. If you find your way to Molynos/Molyvos, definitely order the Fritters. We both ordered the same for dinner, Grilled Baby Lamb Chops, done exactly as ordered, Medium and Medium Rare. They were a delicacy! I have been to Molyvos/Molynoz a number times and have always enjoyed a dinner or lunch here.

We were quite disappointed. We met another couple for dinner. We shared spanakopita as our appetizer, and then shared a small order of grape leaves and an order of moussaka as our entrée. The others had salmon and the mixed shellfish platter. We were disappointed in our meal. The spanakopita were very thin (little filling) and were so uniform that they looked like they were factory-made. The moussaka was just OK. But the grape leaves were awful (at least to our taste). It seemed as if the shells were not grape leaves but some sort of dough, and the filling was just very distasteful. The waitress didsuggest a very nice, but pricey, red wine. We were especially disappointed because we chose the restaurant. We won't be back.

Great service! Good wine and small plates made for a great light meal for the three of us! Hummus, spanakopita and lamb pie were awesome!

We had been here 2 years ago & had a great meal. Not so great this time. Two split the Greek salad- $18 and tomatoes were not ripe. Lobster pasta had 4 small bites, all stringy & rubbery. Short ribs were tasty, lean & tender but too sweet. Waitstaff was pleasant & helpful. Best parts of the meal were wine & breads. $151 for the meal was just waaaay too high for below average quality.

We went to the Radio City Christmas Show and saw a wonderful show ... we made reservations at Molyvos, for 5:30 PM. We arrived half an hour early and were warmly welcomed and got great seats in the front room; comfortable, allowing us to it next to each other and keep the happy moments going. Dinner started with a smiling welcome from Margarita, our very capable server who helped Paula choose a nice Greek wine. We ordered the 3 cheese plate and Tzatziki as our appetizers. The cheeses were all delicious (I highly recommend the ladotyrie cheese from Lesvos) and placed out order for dinner. Paula had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection and were tasty. I had the lahano dolmades in avgolemono (stuffed cabbage in an egg lemon sauce) and roast potatoes (my primary reason was to see if the dolmades were as tasty as the ones I make at home, and I hate to say this, they were better!) We finished with a Molyvos Sundae and each of us had a Greek coffee. All in all, a delicious meal, a wonderful server and I can't think of a better way to kick off the holiday season

Great Greek food and excellent service. And great Greek wines. We particularly love the whole fish, the octopus appetizer, and the moussaka, but everything is good.

First, the service was impeccable. Outstanding. Wish I could say the same for the food. My lobster dish was fishy tasting and the broth was bland. Not very flavourful. My wife had the stuffed peppers and they were good, creative ingredients but again bland tasting.

The prefix dinner is wonderful. The portion is not skimpy, The choices are more than sufficient. Our waiter and busing People were very nice. This was a delightful meal. The menu Is very complete.

Our experience was really good, food and service was amazing. It is a great option for this type of food, we had a pleasant dinner.

Apparently this restaurant has won several awards.... and I wonder why. The food was a farce, seemed frozen, thawed, reheated and tasteless to boot. The wine list was so extensive that it was confusing, and the whole experience was extremely disappointing. The service was slightly arrogant. It was mediumly priced, not a good choice.

I loved the food here. I have eaten the dolmas (not rolled with grape leaves, rather cabbage), the Greek lamb burger, and I drank retsina wine each time. Everything was delicious!

My husband and I really enjoy Greek food. We had never heard of this restaurant before, so we took a chance on it. It was average. While the food was fresh, the service left a lot to be desired. We have had much better food at other restaurants. I would not visit there again.

We had the best dining experience at this restaurant. We wanted to have a quintessential New York experience before flying home and this place delivered. While we were tourist it felt like everyone else was local. The food was very good. What excelled was the service, particularly the maître d’. Refik would check on us during the evening. While I’m no expert on maitre d’s, I believe this gentleman has to be one of the top in the industry. Thank you for the great dining experience.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Molyvos. The fig martini started the evening on just the right note. I loved the grilled sardine appetizer. My husband had the most wonderful moussaka. If you enjoy Greek food in a lovely setting -- not too noisy, not too stuffy -- Molyvos is a great choice.

One of my favorite restaurants in New York. The fix price menu--served early and late--is a bargain with appetizer, entree and dessert. Loved the lamb meatballs, the salmon and the rice pudding.

Dinner after walking by the Rock Center Christmas Tree lighting. Excellent selection of Greek dishes. Fresh and tasty.?

Service was very nice, attentive and prompt. Overall the food was good. My lamb chops were definitely not medium rare as requested and the octopus was a bit firmer than desired but, most people enjoyed their meal. The spanakopita was very good and all the food fresh. What really surprised me was the wine cases. They had two large display cases with many bottles of wine and glass doors which seemed to be a piece of attraction and proudly displayed. Each case had 5 exhaust fans within and each one was filthy, disgustingly filthy.

Cant leave a review regarding the food as we didnt stay to eat. As we was staying in the hotel attached (Wellington) we called in with friends to have a drink whilst we waited for our rooms. The 2 waitresses upon arrival were sat having their lunch so were already annoyed that they had to get up and serve us - sorry isnt that your job?! Once she had been rude and slammed our drinks on the bar she went back to sit down and both girls decided to have a full blown argument with one another infront of ourselves and other guests. Glad we had already decided not to eat there, which is a shame considering the excellent reviews regarding the food but first impressions count.

Greek food is back in NYC! We were able enjoy great Greek food during our visit! We had the avgolemono chicken soup and mitilini meatballs to start! The meatballs were full of flavor and the sauce delicious! The soup was good, full of chicken. Then we moved onto the grilled octopus—tender and juicy, accommodated by Santorini fava with tomato, red onion and capers. We love octopus and this was some of the best we have had. We completed our meal with the seafood pilaf with nice tender shrimp and calamari in an orzo, saffron tomato broth with a sprinkle of feta. Besides good food, the service was spot on. Very attentive, no rush and all around excellent service. Can’t wait to return again.

THe last time we visit Molyvos the experience OK this week it was really very good. Our server was prompt, pleasant, and attentive to our varied requests. The restaurant was crowded but seating comfortable and conversation easy. The grilled octopus was delightfully flavored. Its texture was actually meaty and not the occasionally unfortunate rubbery consistency I have experienced elsewhere. Lahano Cabbage had a delightful lemony flavored sauce. The lamb souvlaki was prepared exactly as requested and well seasoned. The accompanying rice was a bit under flavored. The baklava was a before somewhat dry but still an enjoyable finish to the night. These dishes were well worth the visit. Just because a restaurant doesn't hit a home run with every item may simply mean many people have taste preferences and limits. A third visit would be welcome. If only I could remember what I had each of the two prior times. :) :)

We could not have made a better choice for Thanksgiving dinner! The food was fantastic and the staff very hospitable and polite. You definitely have to try it. It does not get better!

I love Molyvos and the Bronzini. The salads are great also. Miguel is a fabulous waiter. The wait staff cannot be more accommodating. I love this restaurant.

My daughter and I had a very enjoyable meal at Molyvos. She had two appetizers, ceviche and beet salad, as an entree and I had the excellent grilled scallops. Dessert was a delicious little chocolate thing. The restaurant service is very efficient and pleasant. Our food arrived together and was good and warm (except for the ceviche and salad, lol). A glass of wine and a cocktail, a dish of olives, two appetizers, one entree and a dessert came to $139, pretty typical for New York. Highly recommended.

we went for restaurant week. the only way we could afford this overpriced, pretentious place. $45 for lamb chops; $24 grilled octopus appy!!! The blood orange martini was delish ($15); the soup was hot and tasty; the salmon on a bed of corn and veggies was under seasoned and was not "greek" High brow greek not for me. No plates on table when bread was served; waiter looked bored and unhappy.

Dined at Molyvos for a business lunch and I chose it since it was close to my clients office. Everyone loved the food. I had chicken paillard over salad and it was a great portion pounded very thin. Others tried the lamb and the pasticchio and had equally good comments The room is pleasant with an old world feel and it has a great atmosphere for a business meeting—no din to shout over! The service was extremely attentive too

12 unrelated persons chosen to sing the Messiah at Carnegie Hall met at this restaurant for dinner on Thanksgiving night. Our table was ready, but even with repeated requests, the waiters absolutely refused to issue separate checks or even a check for every 4 persons at the table (3 checks). They also refused to list all of the food and drink items ordered by one person separately. Although the food was very good, we received the check with all items in no particularly order, with tax and 20% gratuity separate. Since no one was related or even friends other than the fact that they all sang in the choir of one city, it took a good 30 minutes for each person to determine what they thought they owed (food, drinks, tax and gratuity), and at the end of the night, the check was $24 short. In summary, if you are one or two persons and do not mind relatively slow service, this restaurant may be for you. If you are a group and one person is not "treating", then stay away from here.

Really excellent dining experience: the food, both variety and quality, was superb; the service was attentive and helpful; the ambiance was delightful. Excellent wine seletion, much from the mainland of Greece and Crete.

Fabulous, authentic, Greek restaurant. Server was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Best lamb chops we've ever had. Cooked to perfection and the marinade was stellar. The accompanying fingerling potatoes were another best ever. We will be back next time we're in NYC.

I love this place.....a trip to NYC without dinner at Molyvos, is a disappointment. Make your trip great and dinner fantastic at Molyvos. This is a consistent, five-star restaurant. The food is outstanding. They had to move from the previous location. The location. Is more intimate and has a wonderful ambiance,. Though near times square, Molyvos is tucked in at the corner of 43rd St., and ninth Avenue. There is no Bronzino in New York that compares to theirs. The manager runs a smooth, efficient and conscientious staff. I never go to New York without taking a long walk down ninth Avenue to get the wonderful food that Molyvos offers. If you’re going to see a play you can go before or after. You won’t be sorry. This is the best the city has to offer!!!!

Go to Molyvos before a play or for a Sunday brunch or simply for dinner and you will gift yourself a delicious meal along with a wonderful memory! The food is exquisite: you will savor authentic Greek taste in the fine dining version. All dishes are very tasty and beautifully presented! The staff is very hospitable and make a sincere effort to please. The prices are excellent for the quality of the food and the level of service. We are looking forward to going there again!

My husband and I had an early dinner at Molyvos during our April trip to NYC. We both like Greek food and were quite pleased with the menu. And we both enjoyed our entrees. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the waiter intentionally avoids catching your eye? Our waiter was one of those. He took our order, then someone else brought our drinks and food. Then nothing. As he waited on the tables near us, he carefully avoided noticing any of his earlier patrons. It took us twenty minutes of trying to flag him down to even ask for the check. No one ever asked us if we wanted another drink or if we had everything. Meanwhile he kept returning to a table near us that was going to have a more expensive tab. We won't be returning.

A friend took me to Molyvos for my birthday. I have passed by it many times but never stopped in because the exterior wasn't anything eye-catching. However, I got a big surprise when I stepped it. The decor is fabulous. It had the feel of a classy french bistro. The food was excellent and the service was superb. This would be a great place for a romantic evening for two or to impress guests from out of town. Yes, as in most restaurants in NYC, you will be sitting cheek to jaw, but I did not feel anyway claustrophobic. However, I noticed the bar area was quite small, where patrons had to stand in an aisle that leads to the dining area. Its quite popular on a Saturday night, so you must make an reservation!

Brand new renovated location. Fresh delicious extremely fantastic cuisine. Wonderful helpful staff. Quiet and elegant ambiance. Reasonable pricing for quality of food. Amazing Choices of wine from Greece. Overall very impressed. Appetizers were our favourite.

We stayed in the connected hotel - and were disappointed with the service and prices offered for fairly standard Greek-styled menu

My husband and I ate at Molyvos in August and liked our dinners. I had the beet salad and the red snapper. The restaurant is convenient to mid-town West Side hotels. I was also there in February because the friend I was visiting had heard it was good. And it was.

If you are anywhere near Molyvos you have to try it. We had the wine and food tasting menu. Our party ordered different things from each section of the menu. This way we could try different varieties of food. I had the Tuna TarTar it was flawless. The Hamachi was a unique combination of flavor. The scallops melted in my mouth. The Lamb dish was rich with unique flavors. The giant prawn were awesome. The most unique thing about this meal was the spices enhanced the food but did not overpower the natural taste of each dish. Each wine was a perfect choice for each dish. Dessert was equally impressive. Management and service was impeccable. Do not miss this fine dining experience. I have never had better Greek Food.

very good greek food served in a comfortable environment..our waitress was a delight and extremely knowledgeable about the food os Greece..highly recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful food Awesome service! We went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was full. We had Moussaka Striped Bass Scallops Spinach and Broccoli. Every morsel was magnificent. I wanted to lick the plate!

The wait staff are very helpful in choosing Greek wine to pair with the food choices. Everything was delicious!

Very convenient to Carnegie Hall and theaters. The place is beautiful inside and the wait staff is very helpful and friendly. Even the people eating here are friendly. It felt like a family gathering for the whole place. The noise level is up there but did not distract from conversation or pleasant atmosphere. Have been here a few times and will keep coming back. Grilled Octopus outstanding, Beet salad fabulous, all the cheeses and spreads wonderful especially the cheese grilled at the table with a rich lemon sauce. Try anything that strikes your interest and it will be wonderful.

Excellent service and food. Fresh ingredients used to create a variety of mediterranean specialties. Lamb chops were prepared to perfection and those who went with the fish choices were quite pleased.
The most impressive Greek restaurant in NYC
Everything about this Greek restaurant was superb. The delicious Greek cuisine (octopus, calamari, salads, lamb chops, fish, domaldes) and the Greek wine- just exquisite. The decor is so classy and elegant, and the service and management impeccable. We will definitely return and can’t wait!!
