This is my new favorite place for brunch. Food is delicious, drinks are great, they have shakes with alcohol!!

Mermaid Inn chef's new place. Cool mid century vibe on the decor. Good hearty plates with classic recipes that are made even better with creative chef passion Deviled Eggs are probably the best I have ever had. Other standouts. Ahi Tuna, burger, onion rings, trout and meatloaf. Desserts are simple but good. Cheesecake and butterscotch pie are the way to go Will I Go Back? Absolutely. So many other items on the menu we want to try!

What an extraordinary place! Unique menu from an experienced chef, super retro decor and very attentive service staff. Reservations are a must, since the reviews since recent opening have been so good the place is always full for dinner! Loved the octopus! Full bar service. Will be a big hit and super addition for Chelsea.

Sat outside on a beautiful summer evening and loved the vibe, ambiance, and great service. Www as underwhelmed by the mixed green salad and deviled eggs. My friend did like her salmon. Desserts were pretty tasty, though.

I visited here with my mother and my uncle. It was a nice location and all of the servers were extremely nice. The problem was mostly that the menu lacked any kind of variety. I ended having what was called breakfast fried rice because most everything else involved eggs as the base. If this restaurant was Eggs R Us, mission accomplished. If you like huevos rancheros this is your place.

From start to finish Motel Morris was a delight. We visited on the second opening night, but everything was flawless. Decor is comfortably snug while feeling airy and open. Food was perfect, fresh, full of flavour, paired with crisp, elegant wines and finished with perfect and attentive but never obtrusive service. Do yourself a favor and go. Bravo.

LOVE this place!!! Such a great addition to Chelsea. Very kitschy & cool vibe. Meant to feel like a 1950’s motel vibe. The decor is really cool, hip, retro, amazing, fun. The food, drinks, & staff are great! I HIGHLY recommend!

Met friends for Sunday brunch. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Staff was excellent. Interesting menu with something for everyone. Yummy. Would go back in a heartbeat.

This is a RESTAURANT and not a motel! Hands down, best restaurant in Chelsea! From the delicious and well-curated menu, to the cool vibe, to the warm and ready-to-please staff...this is my "go to" restaurant. Best kept secret...GREAT for a pre theatre meal (an easy and direct walk up 7th Avenue or a quick hop on the #1 subway right there). The other best kept secret... if you can't garner a dinner or brunch reservation (best brunch in the city!), go for lunch where you will be treated like family or even royalty! And if you are into seeing an understated celebrity, you may have a siting. I have had several awesome ones.

The first time we went here it was not great, but this time it was much, much better. Food was good and bar manager was really nice. Amy Karidis stop reading my reviews, please.

We visited Motel Morris on a busy Friday evening. We sat in their outside heated area… which was very warm on a cold night Atmosphere was lively, more so inside though. The Fish and Chips special was decent, the Mushroom Bolognese was delicious. Would return though for another of their amazing cocktails- do try the “Plums in the Icebox” !!!!

Food was great, server was friendly, efficient (and cute!), interesting decor. I was starving and the portion satisfied me.

This is our second time at Motel Morris. Spectacular variety of elegant comfort food in a great setting. Perfect outdoor seating weather permitting. We enjoyed the best meatloaf we’d ever had, followed by delicious Huevos Rancheros.

Just had a fantastic dinner at this hip new restaurant in Chelsea. The food was really good. The service was excellent. The Decor is lovely. The bathrooms are decorated in a cool 1960s vibe with 60s music playing. It's not cheap, but not especially pricey especially considering New York City prices. I highly recommend it.

The inside of this restaurant reminds me of the old motels down the Jersey Shore. Nice look to it. We hit the place at the "in-between" time but they had bar food including hamburgers which was perfect. The hamburgers were made to perfection with a small salad on the side. The wine was excellent and my brother had a beer which was local. The waiter was not pushy. I would go there again.

Went here the other night with my daughter and wife and another friend. We had drinks and an assortment of their specials and menu items and to be honest we were not disappointed with any of them. They were well presented and we all enjoyed them. It’s a very upbeat place and it was really fun that Ben Stiller was sitting 8 feet away from us. My daughter Jessica has great taste and she lives this place

Pleasant place, fast and pleasant service -- and delicious food! I had the crispy chicken thigh sandwich -- one of the many very creative items on the menu -- followed by the special Arlene's dessert -- absolutely delicious cheesecake!! Even though there were quite a few folks eating there, it was not noisy -- could easily converse with my friend. Be sure to check out the charming and "retro" rest rooms while there!

I picked this restaurant because it was close to our hotel. It was an attractive space with a good selection of items for brunch. The service was good, and the food was quite tasty. Good choice from Open Table.

Really vibrant restaurant with a great vibe.., Food was delicious and the margaritas perfect. Great friendly service but a bit pricey at $170 for two... if the Irish coffee’s were authentic I’d give them 5 stars 🌟!

Right when we walked in the door we were greeted by Sam the owner and it was a great experience so much so that we decided this day! Our server Kevin did a great job the food was so delicious as you can see from the pictures do you are well experience was great very clean facility open kitchen my wife really enjoyed it and will stop in again and again when we’re in New York visiting our daughter

It’s a beautiful space with a small but wonderfully curated menu. I found the staff super helpful and friendly, our waitress helped steer me to an amazing dinner (though I’m sure either of the ones I was picking between would have been great). It was chicken with a charred corn risotto and jalapeño pesto. Absolutely wonderful. Finished off with a basil gelato with olive oil, unexpected and delicious. I was also impressed that they had a few zero-proof options on the menu.

On a gorgeous Saturday, we sat outside and had a great lunch. My companion had the huevos rancheros with avocado and I had the shrimp and grits. We were both well pleased with the dishes, although we each would have liked a bit more spice. The grits were creamy and delicious, albeit a bit overpowered by the red sauce. We split a butterscotch banana pudding pie which we both enjoyed. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. I noted they had water dishes for outdoor dinners with dogs.

We were at Motel Morris last night. The place was packed yet not too loud to have a conversation. Staff were friendly, drinks were perfectly made. Highly recommend the quail, pork and finish it off with the chocolate pudding!!!!!

Interesting, and different weekday lunch menu, we were in the mood for soup/sandwich however this didn't really offer that...instead I got the chili which was topped with spicy chips. Very good. Enjoyed a "bourbon" drink, called the "winter sweater", perfect for a cold day.Dining companion got the sweet potato served over a yogurt/oil base, a side salad and a house wine. The sweet potato was two generous slices, cooked perfectly. Nice cozy atmosphere.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with amazing service that we really appreciated and what a burger that our son enjoyed and often speaks about, it just has that comfort feeling and is a great addition to this neighborhood, we will be back soon..

Motel Morris is a cute brunch spot in Chelsea. Easy to make a reservation. Not a large place. Food options were good and the staff was friendly.

Friends of ours who live in NYC recommended that we meet at Motel Morris for brunch on Saturday. Interestingly, Motel Morris apparently didn't open until 11 AM, which is okay for brunch but a bit later than we have experienced for brunch locations. From what I could see, it looks like a great place for a dinner, but that's not when we were there. Despite its name, it is not a motel, or at least not now. I guess it was a motel/hotel back in the day, but it appeared to be condos or apartments now with the restaurant called Motel Morris on the ground level. I will say that I really like the pandemic-driven sidewalk (or rather, outside street lane) dining that is now very common at many NYC restaurants and bars. I'm sure it will be uncomfortable in the winter, but for a lovely day in early September it was quite nice to sit out there with the window pulled open getting a nice breeze. The service was prompt, professional and pleasant (the three p's) and was never pushy or rushed. I had the huevos rancheros which was quite good for a NYC version of a classic southwestern dish. The tortillas are crunchy corn tortillas in this version, but it was still good with just enough spice to keep me interested. Hubby had the breakfast friend rice with kimchi that was also very good. The Bloody Mary was nice, not stellar but not at all bad. This was a reliable place for a decent brunch that allowed us to reconnect with our friends and enjoy the beautiful fall weather at the same time. I recommend it and will hope to dine there again some day.

Motel Morris brings some favorite older style dishes to life with a twist of current cuisine in a fun dining room. A new addition to the Chelsea area, across the street from Barney's and the Rubin Museum, Motel Morris has a sense of humor: the bathroom is a must visit, especially the pink one! The cocktail menu is fun and adventurous. I was partial to the Smoke and Mirrors, a journey from the Manhattan to something new and delicious. The skate was exceptional, the crudite salad a healthy and interesting crispy alternative to a regular salad, the onion rings are a must. I liked the everything bagel tuna, too, because there is never anything called too much seasoning for me. I brought a crew to Motel Morris on Monday night so that I could taste the lobster pot pie. Worth the visit! As are the pieroggies in a cream lobster sauce. And don't miss out on the desserts. This is a neighborhood gem.

Very rarely do I write a disquariging review for a restaurant. After reading other reviews which indicated Morris was a quality place in Chelsea we decided to give it a try over some of our regular haunts.. Those reviews must have been written by friends and family members that have no tastebuds or knowledge of good service. The food was overpriced and the overall taste was underwelming. The broiled salmon tasted like it was boiled and soggy with the natural flavor washed out. The chicken was equally dead tasting. Our waiter was friendly but lacked good waitress skills and was more interested in socializing than serving and seeing if we were ok. We asked for a tea with honey and got a cheap supermarket brand tea. The honey was diluted with water. When ask the waitress, she said that's what we use at the bar...what she gave us was simple syrup made from honey and sugar....seriously....a restaurant that doesn't have honey. The busing staff was VG and made up for the bad waitress.. If you're going to eat in the area try Le Singe a few blocks north. It's light years better food and service at the same price point.

We sat in an outside cabana. We had good service but in a totally drab box—no decoration whatsoever ever. Service was adequate. The food was very good. What impressed us the most was the ambience indoors. A well decorated environment that was packed with diners in lively interaction. Can’t wait to return.

This area on Seventh Ave in the teens never really had anything interesting food wise until now. Small comfortable space with funky seating area and blue bar that is also very accommodating. Never feel crowded even though it's a small space. Salad and spicy tuna to start were excellent as well as chicken and buttermilk fried pork chop. Banana cake for desert was really good. Service was excellent all around and best espresso martini for nightcap.

While staying in Chelsea, we decided to go south for our dinner with colleagues. We tried Motel Morris on the strength of local Chelsea restaurant reviews. It turned out we agreed! I really loved the chic casual energy of the restaurant, despite it being a little loud and definitely feeling crowded. We had a great booth near the entrance, and I loved it. Service was prompt and friendly, though slow a little here and there. Food was excellent and varied. Desserts were really delicious. Drinks were great. I’d return with pleasure.

Excellent service. Vibrant crowd after 6:00. Good casual place for dinner and drinks or just drinks. Has outdoor seating. Wine was excellent. The malt vinegar dusted fries are amazing and we had to place another order-very tasty and addicting. Salads, meat and fish were good. Suggest making reservation. With wine, salad and entree about $50pp.

We shared the Curry Mussels, which were delicious with just the right amount of seasoning! The pimento deviled eggs delivered. The mustard crusted trout was excellent, the skirt steak very tasty. Our chicken lover enjoyed it and the pork chop was also said to be very tasty. Being a small restaurant, we had to wait a little bit for our table to be available despite our reservation, but I liked that no one was rushed, even if it delayed us just a bit.

Haven't been to Motel Morris since pre-pandemic and I'm glad to see that they are still doing well and the level of service and food is still great. I booked online a table for 2, which is always easy, for an indoor table. They have lovely outdoor heated sheds, as well. The hostess was lovely and gave us a corner round top booth to ensure my comfort bc I recently had Achilles surgery and arrived in a boot & cane. The waiter was lovely, personable, professional, and most of all patient bc my girlfriend and I had a drunk kiki brunch and were there for like 3.5hrs. Food & drinks came out great as always! This place is super cute & kitschy and NEVER disappoints! I highly recommend a fun, delicious meal here!

We had a very nice dinner at Motel Morris, a new and reliable favorite for our family dinners. The menu is varied and everything we had, from the deviled eggs and kale salad to the fish dishes (golden snapper and hake) and soba noodles was well prepared. The staff was Berg friendly and helpful and the decor is cozy and creative with bathrooms befitting a Wes Anderson movie.
great neighborhood spot
I enjoyed the trout dinner I had a few months ago- the service was terrific. I got to meet the owner another time and he couldnt be nicer. a true mom and pop business- I didnt have dessert but I hear his mom makes some of it in the restaurant
