If you don't like Brussel sprouts now, you will when you leave Motorino. Order the Brussels sprout and Pancetta Pizza. You will be blown away.

We couldn't make it to our favourite, Juliana's, Brooklyn (the real Grimaldi's), so gave Motorino's a try as we were in the area. Cozy, cool, stripped down East Village pizza parlour. Great lunch special of a pie and a salad, more then enough food for two for $14. These are great coal oven pizzas, light, charred dough, a little thicker around the crust, great savoury tomato sauce and the spicy soprasseta special was excellent. Service was quick, but they seem to do a lot of delivery business and I can see why.

This place was on my list for quite a while. Definitely lived up to the expectations. Service was wonderful, one of the best pizzas I've had. So delicious even the condiments oregano etc, were outstanding.

This was our second visit in four years. We wanted real New York/Italian style pizza, and we were very pleased once again. The space is small, the range of drinks and non-pizza items limited, but the pies themselves are fantastic. Hosts were friendly and efficient and service was quick (without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon - still busy). Thin crispy crusts with nice bubbling and some good char, sauce was delicious, and the canned beers were cold. I love this place.

Ranks with the best pizza I ever had. Delicious crust and both regular and unusual pizza toppings. Good appetizers. Try the grilled corn! Have not (yet) had better in NYC.

Legendary pizza that still stands tall after all these years. It is a go to place for pizza...just wish it was bigger so that I would not have to wait in a long line at lunch. Service is fast and good as the wait staff are working at full tilt come lunch and dinner.

Came here because it was close to The Museum of Natural History and what a surprise! Fresh ingredients, great sauce and great taste ! It’s q little pizza place with a wood oven . Taste is amazing, service was amazing, prices were amazing for New York! I don’t know if a big party would fit in the place it’s quite small.... but for a family of 4 or less it’s perfect!

Shaved Fennel Salad had beautifully shaved fennel, but it was swimming in dressing and was soggy, not crisp and vibrant as it should be (and that is easy to get right). Then they forgot the red onion and chili flakes. Octopus salad, probably the best I have ever had, and it tasted like the chef made if just for me. Everything on the plate was perfect. Grilled octopus, capers, warmed potato, red onion, parsley and lemon. Pizza dough and cooking oven was perfect, spectacular. But the Marinara pizza had three times the sauce it needed and the sauce was put - cold - on the raw dough, barely given time to warm up and not even allowing the sliced raw garlic on top to do its thing to release its flavors and oils or soften. The sourced Cherrystone clams for the pizza were the best – ever. Perfect brininess, perfect size, perfectly cooked, but unfortunately the Fior Di Latte, in the style of Italian Mozzarella, which smothered the pie, was absolutely and totally superfluous. The gummy, bland cheese was absent of any flavor, sucked all the life out of what could have been a spectacular pie. It did not even melt right. They forgot the oreganata butter, as well as the garlic. And worse, they did not sprinkle the pie with any fresh parsley. Now, I don’t know if I can trust Grub Street. My clam pie definitely did not look like the pie in their picture, and did not match their description either. Del Popolo red pie, with capers, olives, San Benedetto anchovies and Fior Di Latte cheese, was assembled in correct proportions, cooked perfectly with the cheese melting.... was the best creation of the night. Be careful with their parmesan.... I think it has more salt in it, than Sodium Chloride...it was salty. Motorino deserves a 'poor' rating for tonight, but they really have the potential, so I bumped them up a notch. They’ve got perfect dough, a fabulous pizza oven and all the right ingredients.

On a recommendation we called Motorino for pizza. We had been directed towards the sopressata piccante. So that's what we ordered, along with a cremini mushroom pizza. The food was delivered to our door in double quick time and the pies were excellent and authentic.

Very good pizza and ingenious tiramisu. A bit noisy but very attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Went to Motorino close to midnight and what a find! The pizza were so delicious and friendly vibe. Even though there were only two tables of customers, we still have to wait for quite a bit given there were many take away orders!

love the pizza - a great combination of thin crust with lots of flavor ... perfectly cooked! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yummmmm. Had the special last night. Buffalo mozzarella and other cheeses I can't remember. Excellent flavour. Split it with a friend while my bf had a meaty pizza to himself. Great fast friendly service. My water glass was never empty. Very popular place. Was packed by 8 pm.

In short, friendly staff however not flexible and average pizza. I’m not eating meat and have asked if I can substitute the sausage with some veggie.. the answer was no, you can’t change ingredients. That was quite disappointing. My review would be a 6 our of 10. Pricey for what they have to offer, they would need to review their ingredients.. they don’t seem to be of high quality.

I am from LA, so our pizzas are very different than NY's. I went to Grimaldi's and Lombardi's and honestly this pizza was the best NY pizza I had while in NYC. Amazing toppings, made from scratch - really, really good. I would say that those "by the slice" pizza places in Times Square are better, but if you want to splurge on pizza, Motorino is a great place to do so.

Love the pies at this place! Way better in person vs delivery as you gotta love the crispy crust. The best pizza in my opinion in NY, this place is no joke. Enjoy!

Because of all the great recommendations we went here to have dinner. Nicely crowded but staff a bit automated. Pizza's were OK bur we have surely had better ones. Green salad vert basic. 1 pizza came 5 minutes after the other 4.

We visited in July 2019 after seeing an online review of Motorino and me noticing that they offered a brussel sprout pizza... which was absolutely delicious! Really good food and good value for money as well.

Had a great lunch here yesterday. A great fresh salad followed by a great pizza. Easily big enough for two !

This place has two locations, one in the East Village and the other in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Their pizzas was great, had many choices and you can make your own pizza. Their meatballs was fantastic (or at least I assume so since my daughter ate them all and didn't offer me a bite) The roasted cauliflower was great as well. Totally recommend this place, the waitstaff was very good as well.

worth the trip down to the village, good atmosphere very laid back, great pizza and appetizers. living in the city for ten years now and like this place alot

Was here with friends as I was recommended this place. This was a great meal and the pizza is actually Neapolitan style. Tasty and thick! Avoid little Italy for a good pizza in NYC

I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza. It came with chili flakes all over it, making it absolutely inedible. They offered me 25% of the cost of the pizza as compensation for not being able to eat any of it. If you order from here, be sure to say all the ingredients you don't want on it - that will take a while to do, but worth it if you want what you order.

Don’t let the name fool you. This isn’t a motorcycle shop, or whatever other image you may have conjured up in your mind. No, this is New York City’s best pizza! Period! In their supercool, downtown East Village digs, these guys make the best, Neapolitan style pizza you’ve ever eaten. This isn’t that super thin, limp crust pizza that falls over under the weight of its toppings. No, this crust has chew with a wonderful elasticity, and is as perfectly balanced a crust as you’ll ever find. It’s properly blistered with an authentic wood burnt char. It’s the combination of having both that is so often missing from lesser examples. The toppings here are obscenely good, with sublime meatballs, cured anchovies, arugula, soppressata, Brussels-sprouts with pancetta and more. The trade offs is super tight seating and harried service, with a never ending stream of takeout orders whizzing past your table and out of the front door. All in all, a small price to pay for pizza perfection!

Fantastic pizza is not easy to find on the UWS of Manhattan so Motorino is a welcome addition. What is especially great is that they have real appetizers and vegetables as well as a quality winelist, aspects that are impossible to find even at the best pizzerias. Great clam pizza.

The pie here is delicious. I've been to the location on E 12th and in Williamsburg under the bridge (kinda funny how so many good pizza spots are under bridges in brooklyn given that this collective area is the size of a couple of football fields!) and had an equally pleasant experience at both. It's simply a great spot and deserves a spot in at least the top 10 if not top 5 best pizza joints in NYC and I'm not easily impressed.

Being Italian, I crave pizza at least once a week and this is the place where I go. It has one of the best true Italian (Neapolitan) pizzas in NYC. Highly recommended!

We loved the brussel sprouts pizza, great drinks menu. I would go back there every time I come to New York. Pizzas baked to perfection - felt extremely gourmet. Like the very standard industrial feel decor. Staff were lovely and service was great

Luzzo's, Arturo's, John's on Bleecker ... They're all great but Motorino in the East Village wins my heart. Short wait times even on a Friday night, simple furnishings, then pizza to knock your socks off. The Brussels sprouts number has the town talking and you'll quickly taste why. Cheap red wine in tumblers tasted pretty good too. And the bill was far smaller than expected for such a headline pizza parlour.

Distinguished vibe, food and service. Enjoyed salad and even clams in addition to the main event with many options that we did not try. Good wine selection and reasonably priced. Great service too, all while packed as it should be always.

I ate here with my son who was visiting from the UK, and who wanted to have pizza in NYC. I've lived here for five years, and I am tired of eating at the old school NYC pizza places where the pizzas are enormous, smothered in red sauce, and lack any finesse. Googled for ages before deciding on Motorino, and so glad that I did. We had two appetizers - fennel salad and steamed clams; followed by a Marguerita with olives for him, and Cremini for me. Both were perfect Italian pizzas - I even ate the crust which I don't usually. The pizzas were sized for one person and were absolutely delicious. Each had a glass of white wine and the total including tip was $90 which we both thought was good value for a lovely meal for two.

Pizza like in Italy. Welcome, perfect service. Very good quality pizza. Excellent value for money address. I recommend.

Who chooses the music in this restaurant!?! The pizza is excellent but I could not wait to leave. Loud horrible music. And the same happened the previous time I was there. No wonder the place is almost always empty. Pick some ambient music and allow your patrons to enjoy their meal!!

I convinced my family that it would be worth their walk after a long day of walking around the city. Thank goodness it was true because they were getting hangry! The staff was super - friendly and efficient. We had the meatballs as a starter and then tried 3 different pies, all delicious. The thin and toasty crust is very nice. We also had the chocolate cake and tiramisu. Oh, and they have Mexican cokes - the best! Just a little place, but big on taste!

We were very happy to hear that they were opening in our neighborhood. We had gone several times to the place in the East Village. When we tried the new place today and we felt that it didn't measure up to our memories of the other place. Nevertheless it is better than other places in the neighborhood.

We arrive to Brooklyn especially for Peter Luger steak restaurant which was full and we saw this restaurant, which is in the ather side of the street. The food was perfect very good and precise. Honestly it was one of those mistakes which’s you happy that happened. High recommend!.

I was recommended this place by two locals on my trip to NYC, they both said the brussel sprout pizza was good. I was of course a little unsure but gave it a go anyway - it was so yummy! Brussell sprout and pancetta - who knew? The place isn't large and is busy, we went on a Sunday night, only had to wait 10 minutes. Reasonably priced.

You may or may not have heard but I used to work for a fairly well respected traditional pizza chain back home in England. So I like to think I know a thing or two about pizza. Using all my skills, I picked Motorino based on how good the dough looked on accompanying pictures from an article on the 10 best pizza places in NYC. I'm pleased to say I had my eye in that day as the pizza's taste as good as they look For the gentleman; the prosciutto di Parma. The lady: essentially a marinara with cheese and anchovies. Both were cooked to perfection; brown patches on the base but still soft without being over-doughy. Wash it all down with a can of Sixpoint Bengali IPA or a glass of the house red (depending on your preference) and you're laughing. One of the simplest but most satisfying dining experiences; pizza and booze, done right.

It's worth the taxi ride to this crown jewel that sits in the East Village, a sweet, quiet hideaway with great service and smiles that bring you the best damned pizza ever. AND they have a staff of 15 delivery people at night carting around these heavenly pies to a large area of NYC. Known for their delicious Brussels Sprouts and Pancetta, but try the Sapproseta. Luscious spices and cheesy clouds of comfort. I am just dying for another trip to NY for one. Sigh.

We had the Sopressata Picante Pizza and added onions and mushrooms! It was delicious! We had it delivered to our hotel room near Central Park via the caviar delivery app! One of the best pizzas I have ever had! 😋

occasionally when I feel rich I go here and it is great!....owe just go there and enjoy!.....ok , there is nothing here that won't leave you happy

A very small place in a beautiful neighbourhood. Staff not overly talkative but friendly enough. A small menu which is great. The Brussel sprout pizza which sounds so weird was just so great. It's a white pizza so no tomato base and the Brussel sprouts were more or less uncooked or lightly seared at best. I'd go there again just for that pizza. They are so light and thin with thick crust, so whilst they look big, 1 adult can eat 1 pizza. I'd go so far as to say best pizza I've ever had, yep!! And I've had pizza in Italy!! And my husband said the octopus salad was better than the one he had in Italy which at the time I remember was sensational! $52 for 2 pizzas and a salad. A fair price I think. We just had water to drink.

Well, honestly the food is nice as an Italian food but being served by Mika it makes you feel it’s the best food you have ever had , she sooooooo nice , professional, smiling all the time , managing all our nagging and she has really so nice spirit that makes you come to this place again only to feel her very nice energy .. Thank you MIKA and thank you for make our night wonderful!

Excellent service. The place is very small, but we went around 2pm on a Saturday and had no problem getting a table for four. Our group split the Soppresatta pizza and the Prosciutto pizza and they were both pretty amazing, though the prosciutto was my favorite! Our water glasses were never even close to being empty. This was a perfect start to our few days in the city!

Very small spot but the best pizza I ever had in restaurant. Visited with friends to try this special pizza . Ordered sprouts pizza and regular .. I can eat at this spot everyday ..... A++

Stopped here with daughter, while shopping in the Village. We ordered the roasted pepper appetizer. It came with burrata and capers. The dish needed some salt, and the burrata should have been a little closer to room temperature. After that we split a pizza margherita. It was really good. Good char on the bottom, and a tasty sauce. A little more care with the app and this would have rated 5 stars.

Went to the Motorino restaurant in Manhattan for a earlier dinner. No issue getting a table which I can imagine is a challenge at other times given the small number of tables. We ordered two pizzas (one was brussels sprouts). The pizzas came reasonably quickly. The pizzas were ok at best. The issue was the flavor (muted at best). The service was good but we wanted the pizza to be better.

i am 100% italian and i have some italian friends in new york, for us this is the best pizza in the city, well made, soft and with a lot of ingridients, try the "stracciatella"

Sorry to say as mentioned often in the reviews, soggy pizza. Very surprising. We even sent back the brussel sprouts pizza after seeing it was clearly soggy on the bottom and not remotely crispy. Came back burnt on top and still doughy/soggy on the bottom. They have a problem with the crust apparently. The artichoke appetizer was very tasty though and ambiance was solid.

Had the margherita pizza and it reminded me of the pizza I had in Naples. Fresh tomato, basil and tasty mozzarella. Crust was a little chewy, but flavorful. Pizza s are "12 and on the expensive side. Consider a margherita pizza in southern Italy is around $4, the pizza at motorino is $15. Overall, true italian pizza, but on the expensive side.

The venue is rather simple, not much in the way of ambience. But the pizza is first rate. We enjoyed the Soppressata, with a salad and a glass of wine over lunch. We felt like we were back in Naples, enjoying the real thing.

How on earth can you charge 21 dollars for a Margherita? I am italian and I know how much pizza costs to make. I also know that outside Italy pizza can be very "posh" but this is robbing people. Never again

Great pizza for sure, amongst the best in the city !! We also had the octopus and a salad that were very good as well, Service was also quite good friendly and alert!!

Pizza's really tasty, first time trying pecorino. Payed for arugula as an extra but it was not included in my order.

Small, quaint place. Delicious, brick oven pizza. Waiters are always friendly and welcoming. Love this pizza! It is so worth a visit!

Snagged a take out soppressata pie on soft opening 9/7/11. Server was charming & pizza was delicious.

Ordered the special and another of the menu. Bit limited in options but each looked amazing. We had two between three of us and it was loads. Went there round 6. Finished round 7. Huge queue to get in when we left!

Pizza is a big staple of NY cuisine. You can find it everywhere but it is not that easy to find a decent slice. it is often coated with too much cheap mozzarella, too thick or just bland. At Motorino the pizzas were thin and really tasty, cooked well, and had interesting flavors. I had never heard of brussels sprout pizzas and was quite skeptical about it. but it was really nice. 2pizzas for 3 people should be enough. Lunch special 12$ for a pizza and salad. Great price. service was fast. Nice small restaurant. will go back.

This place smells so good as you walk by, that you just have to stop and have a bite. The restaurant is really, really small, seriously. If you have a part of 5 or more, like I did, be ready to wait for an hour or more, especially at dinner time. So keep that in mind. What I saw was a lot of take outs, which is something that I will do next time, instead of dining in and waiting forever. They just don't have the space, and they don't take reservations or call aheads. Other than that, the staff and hostess were great and friendly. The pizza is done right inside brick oven. I believe one pizza would feed two, but if you're really hungry, then just stick with one all for yourself. The price is decent, compared to other NYC restaurants.

East Village place offers good pizza up until midnight. Dough base is good and thin, marinara is delicious and the pepperoni was also excellent. Definitely not cheap, 12" pizza is 16$ and up, but value is very good for the money.

My fiancee and I went here on a Friday and she wanted to try their pizza with egg on it. Unfortunately this pizza is only cooked on Sunday afternoons. Instead we each ordered our own pies. She ordered the prosciutto di palma while I had the margherita with meatballs. Overall they were both pretty good, but the margherita with meatballs did have a bit more taste. Also in my opinion, the prosciutto was very fatty. We enjoyed our pies, which are a little bit bigger personal pies. Nice little pizza place.

I find it hard to reconcile our experience with the reviews here. We were ushered into a tiny, crowded, noisy room by the friendly staff (the only reason I'm giving it two stars, lovely staff.) We were served some friend bologna type thing for appetizer, a tiny, barren "pizza" with a smear of tomato sauce, I think, hardly any visible cheese, and a few slices of what appeared to be dried up pepperoni (yes, I know they claim it was "sausage.") After gobbling it down, anxious to leave the incredibly loud room, we paid $30 for the privilege and then went home and had dinner. I always look for the bright side of everything, but this was terrible. Never again.

This small pizza-only restaurant has a wonderful selection of pizzas, a little larger than an average personal size- from plain marinara ($11) to one with anchovies and capers or shrimp and numerous other choices. Then you can add additional toppings to it to customize your pie. Add a delicious mixed green salad with zesty dressing for $8. Beer, soda and wine available. It's a great place to hang out with friends over pizza and drinks. Come often and try a different pizza each time.

Before visiting New York City we did a bit of research to find the best pizza places - Motorino came up as 2nd or 3rd, but on Valentine's day we had a bit of spare time, and Motorino was the closest and easiest to get to so we headed down the the quaint little neighbourhood where it was situated for lunch. They served us up heart shaped pizza with the toppings of our choosing and the first bite was all it took to know that this was the best thing I had ever tasted. Highly recommend trying this pizza, not very expensive at all for something so amazing!

We are regulars at the Mid Levels Motorino HK branch and was excited to try the original Motorino pizza. We arrived around 6.30pm and was fortunately seated immediately. Service from beginning to end was ok although no one questioned my clearly burnt pizza or why I only ate 1 slice out of 4. We ordered our usual and I was served a burnt soggy pizza with prosciutto that was so dry that I was unable to chew through it. How you can burn the base, have jerky like prosciutto and still make the rest of the pizza so soggy that watery sauce drips off it as I lift it to eat is actually quite amazing. Fortunately, my husband's white base pizza turned out fine. So I was just unlucky.

Is a classic in New York A very good pizza, the flavours are not really like in Napoli but is ok, because is really nice

We were very excited to try it based on friends/reviews so we went last Saturday night. Staff were very friendly, great service. The wine was good, and the meatball appetizer was also very good. The pizza was very disappointing. Small, essentially individual pizzas, and it was a little soggy with a lot of different flavors going on that didn't really come together.

Motorino is my go-to place for a quick pizza lunch in the East Village / Union Square area. Their lunch special includes a salad and a choice of Neapolitan style pizza. I tried the soppressata as a change to the margherita and it was delicious. the crust is doughy as it should with a little burn from the wood-fire oven, the tomato sauce slightly acidic as I favor and the soppressata added both fire and crunch (think pepperoni but oh-so much better). the mozzarella contrasted heat, flavors and textures - a real treat. the salad was tossed with fresh herbs and served with a side of EVOO-balsamic sauce. Service was friendly and efficient and the lunch prix fix a good value. For an authentic (as in Napoli) and delicious pizza experience in the East Village I recommend Motorino as one of my Top 3 downtown choices.

Ate lunch here and met up with some relatives to enjoy a nice pizza lunch. Service was great and the place was nice and cozy for a nice visit.

We stopped in on a drizzly Sunday evening around 8pm and were seated right away. It's a tiny space but felt perfectly cozy, especially since it wasn't crowded. The service was attentive and friendly, and the pizzas were sublime.

I am a huge pizza lover and this was really good. My gf had been wanting to come for years and we finally made it. The place is small and we got there on a Friday night around 6, but managed to come just in time. The kitchen is open to the diners so you hear the hustle and bustle. Our waitress was very nice. We got the meatballs and soppressata for appetizers. The meatballs were delicious and my gf said they were just as good as her grandmas homemade Sicilian meatballs and that's saying something! The pizza had olives and sausage on it. The crust was nice and thin, but if there's one complaint it would be the crust was a little burnt in spots. Other than that a delicious dinner!

Love the pizza at Motorino. The crust was great, and the ingredients are fresh. Was a big fan of the brussells sprouts pizza and the mushroom pizza. The meatball appetizer was also a win.

Simple small pizza place with fantastic white pizza. The dough is soft and chewy. The clam pizza with a little squeeze or fresh lemon was so satisfying. Creamy, savory, zesty, and flavorful. I found it very interesting how this little humble venue's tables are all real marble.

I visited here with a friend, as we had been wandering around Brooklyn on foot and read some good reviews. It's true that this is one of those smaller places with limited staff, but our server actively ignored us. We sat and stared at empty plates for 20 minutes while she set four or five tables, none of which were filled while we were in the restaurant. We weren't in a hurry, but the amount of time between sitting down and being greeted, receiving menus and ordering, and finishing up and having the table bused were so long that we ran out of things to say and were left watching her chat extensively with other customers, talk on the phone and prepare other tables, wondering if she had forgotten about us entirely. The pizza itself was just okay. I wouldn't go back for the pizza even if the service was decent. I have had great pizza from a wood-fired stove before, but the crust on these was so blackened that the primary taste in our mouths was burned dough. Not sure if this is rare or common, but it was a terrible experience. Go try one of the other hundred pizzerias nearby.

I've always had great pizza here. The Brussel's Sprout pizza and the sopressata pizza are two of my all-time favorite pies.

Terrific place for pizza. Nice service. This restaurant does not take reservation though. Highly recommend this.

Motorino lives up to the authenticity standards with their pizza, and the meatballs were surprisingly excellent.

We walked in here late on a Friday night - passed midnight and were greeted with a smile from the waiter. She sat us down at a table that was near the window and immediately brought us water. There was no one there and had all the attention. My boyfriend loves meatballs and we ordered them as an appetizer and they were delicious and tender - cooked to perfection. We got a pizza to split between the two of us and as well as Tiramisu for dessert. All the food was awesome - and the atmosphere at that time of night was romantic and quaint. We will be back!

Great Neopolitan-style pizza (doughy crust roasted to perfection, San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil) with tasty side options. The individual pies are enough for two, or leftovers taste mighty good. Tables are close together but service is friendly and impeccable.

The crust is outstanding at Motorino. The tomato sauce was light and delicious. My preference is for a little more cheese than they put on the pie but it was adequate for a truly delicious dish.

We did a walk in here and you really need a reservation. After a while they worked us in and service was great once seated We shared a Heirloom Tomato Pizza and it was good, not great, but good. The say they specialize in thin crust pizza's but ours was mostly bread with a little cheese and tomato's on top. The menu doesn't contain many meat pizza options.

We arrived after the lunch crowd so it was pretty much empty. The place smelled heavenly and the service was fast & friendly. We could see the brick oven from our table.....so cool! I had read reviews beforehand and everyone raved about the Brussels Sprout Pizza, so that's what we got, along with a salad. It was enough for my son & I to share, without feeling overly full. The crust was thin & crispy....so delicious! And the lightly charred brussels sprouts with the crispy pancetta, garlic, olive oil and fior de latte was divine! Prices are reasonable too. :)

We went on the recommendation of our B and B owner in Vermont , who used to live in NY. We would not have gone to this part of New York usually, but as the B and B owner was a food fanatic we thought it worth a try and we weren't disappointed. Best pizza ever had and incredibly good value at lunchtime. It's nice inside - feels authentic.

My family considers themselves pizza connoiseurs. We plan trips around which pizza places we can hit. Motorino's did not disappoint! Service was friendly and fast, with a nice selection of drinks and appetizers. The meatballs were amazing!! The crust was cooked perfectly, my favorite was the brussel sprout with the mushroom a close second. Don't miss this spot!

After reading a very good review on timeout we visited Motorino hoping to have some tasty pizzas after a busy day exploring NYC. Sadly, what we experienced did not meet our expectations at all. Whilst the service was friendly, it was at times very intrusive; the young guy whose only job seemed to be to top up diner's water glasses visited our table nearly every 2 minutes, even trying to top up glasses which hadn't been touched since the last time. We found this very annoying and frankly completely unnecessary. (Maybe think about giving him some other jobs to do). Now, to the pizza's themselves, mine was probably the driest pizza I've ever eaten; a barely baked base and no tomato sauce. My boyfriend's was even worse...the base had been baked (just) but then the toppings had just been scattered on top without actually cooking them, so what he was served was pizza dough with some hard chunks of mozzarella on and a few chopped up cherry tomatoes. All in all, one of the lowest culinary points of our trip.

We visited here on our last evening in NYC. We had to wait a while for a table as the restaurant is really small and it was very busy. That being said it was worth the wait. I had the Marinara pizza which had oregano, sea salt and garlic already in it then I added pancetta. The pizzas were a good size and were really delicious.

This place had a great pizza. When a out of Times Square spot is busy and it isn't lunch time. You know it's a pretty good sign. Locals were here another good sign. Pizza was thin but had a good crust. We did opt for the sprout pizza; it was very good for us. Of course, just realize you don't get normal pizza sauce. You get pancetta, sprouts and cheese. The pancetta gives the pizza a wonderful smokey flavor. 12" was enough to share. Definitely different than those who expected a regular red sauce pizza. We saw several sauce pizzas come out and they looked and smelled awesome. Service was fine. While busy; they did come by and check on us. Give them a try if your near NYU / union square area.

We were recommended Motorino by friends and we were happy they did. Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will it blow your mind?? Probably not, you will however leave with a contented smile.

My wife and I had a storm of flavors at this place we stumbled upon by chance. The pizza and salad, as well as the mozzarella, were fantastic. It's a friendly place and I would recommend it to everyone. The prices are reasonable, we spent $100 for two people including a bottle of wine. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Dripping from rain we nipped in here to get dinner. The pies were very nice, slightly charred on a thin base ( how it should be ) and the toppings better than expectations. We are not big eaters so tried a side of meatballs and the brussel sprout pizza. It has a very light flavour but don't expect brussel sprouts as you would normally have them. They are peeled leaf by leaf and scattered across the top of the pizza then cooked just enough to brown them on the edges. No overpowering smell that you might associate with a brussel sprout. The addition of Pancetta really added to the flavours. It is a nice idea, nicely done. Maybe it was the evening we visited but the restaurant wasn't crowded at all and staff were attentive but not overbearing. On our experience, a nice place for couples. Some of the best Pizza we had while in NYC.

This place is tiny, and the small tables makes you feel like you're in Paris! The food is huge so order to share, the two of us had two pizza's, a green salad and a dish of clams, and it was overall good. Arrive early to get a seat as it was packed by about 6:30pm for dinner.

We spent six weeks in Italy last year, and the pizza at Motorino brought back those great memories. The whole family loved the pizza, the atmosphere and the service. The owner also makes his rounds which is always a plus in my books. I absolutely recommend this place!

We went here the first time we moved in and the waiter was lovely from the very beginning and the pizza even better. I know Sauce next door is such a staple for good pizza, but I honestly think Motorino holds its own. Try the specials - they were great! We'll definitely be back for sure!

Don't expect a fine dining experience when you come here. The place is quaint and small. The Pizza is excellent (my favorite is the very spicy sopressata!) - but you should also try the starters which come in very generous portions. I had a marvelous shaved fennel salad - reading the menu I thought it might not be my thing with capers, olives and oranges but boy I surprised how good it was.

Had to queue outside in the cold for a table as this place is tiny. Worth the wait though, enjoyed the pizza which was full of fresh ingredients. One criticism though, who serves red wine in a tumbler!!

Went there solo and recommended by a friend. Went around 3pm so they served me lunch special. I ordered the Brussel Sprout with Pancetta comes with side salad. Service was excellent. But the pizza was dripping with moisture underneath. (As shown in my picture) So I didn't enjoy it. Glass of red house wine $9.

Visited Motorino in East Village based on reviews and "Best Pizza in New York" lists online, but it did not live up to the hype. Authentic atmosphere, small crowded pizzeria with a view of the huge wood-fired stove in the kitchen. Service was nothing special. Tiny glass bottle of diet coke was cute, but overpriced at $3 each. We ordered a margherita pizza in order to make an "apples to apples" comparison with other pizzas we have tried, and also a brussel sprouts pizza because it was so often mentioned in reviews. Both were OK, but certainly nothing to rave about. Crust was good, thin and tasty. Very little sauce on either, and not enough cheese for my taste. Reasonably priced at around $15-$18 per pie. One is enough for two people if you are not big eaters. We would not go back.

Great pizza! Great service! Very good Italian wine selection. Special thanks to Tullio for his special welcome. Luigi

This is a small restaurant that doesn’t really catch your attention from the outside, but we were happily surprised with the napolitain style pizza, thin crust and not greasy at all. The Kale salad was excellent so were the roasted peppers...

Was pretty quiet at lunch today .. Amatriciana pizza was excellent. Wish I'd ordered one whole pizza for myself rather than sharing with my son who agreed it was excellent. Perfect "leopard spots" on the base as you would expect from a proper pizza oven. Also pleased to see a selection of rarer NY beers available .. as we as boring usual international suspects. Would definitely recommend.

This place has it all: friendly waitstaff, fabulous pizza, plus wonderful salads and appetizers. Each of us got our own pizza (which only produced 3 leftover slices) a greens salad, and an artichoke appetizer. Although there were some big groups in the restaurant, it's laid out beautifully, so it is NOT noisy. I loved seeing the pizzas being made and then baked in the wood burning oven.

This place was packed when we visited . It is very small but very quaint and atmospheric . It has a boho feel to it , friendly with great staff. The pizzas are sublime .

The staff were really friendly, the place was buzzing, inside and out (take-outs), it was good value and they gave me a neat packaged up quarter of pizza that I couldn't mange (looking forward to a great linch tomorrow!).

I thought with imported pizza oven to receive crisp pizza instead they serve soft slightly burnt pizza the prosciutto was great pizza itself disappointing not what anticipated. If you are looking for crusted pizza with crunch this is not for you

We initially went to pizaritta for their colzone in pizza but their oven is not working since last 6 months. The girl was nice enough to recommend us to check Motorino and man it was a fabulous experience. Even though only 32 guests can be served, every 5-7 minutes someone was checking on every guest. Every one was patient, welcoming and helpful and that’s what I call service. We ordered eggplant dip and scooped in like 5 minutes as it was irresistible. Loved their margehrita pizza. The other white sauce one was loaded. All in all a wonderful experience. They told us they are international and are going to open in Dubai as well can’t wait.

Wonderful brick oven pizza...great atmosphere...friendly staff. It is a fun, funky place! Food was great and service was quick.

The pizza was great! As a couple, we shared a Soppresata Piccante and it was just the right amount of food if you're not starving. We also tried the Gragnano semi-sparkling wine. It was a very interesting pair with the pizza! My date loved it, I thought it was okay. Certainly different, and probably worth trying!

I come here at least once per month. It is lovely, so romantic! The pizza here is just amazing, it reminds me home, Italy. I recommend this place to everyone, prices are not too high !

Motorino’s pizza is considered one of the best in NYC. We went to the new Upper West Side restaurant to taste those famous pizzas. The menu is the same of the others (East Village and Brooklyn), basically, the traditional Neapolitan pizzas. The restaurant itself is very small and, as they do not take reservations, it is advisable to be prepared for a queue. The service is very attentive and friendly. The most important: the pizza is really – really – good! Worth a visit!

This place is amazing, and it reminds me of Italy. The servers are friendly and very willing to help with ordering. The pizza was so good, and the mozzarella was fresh, and the basel tasted like it was just taken kloff the vine. Will return.

We loved this neapolitan style pizza. Thin crust, crisp with the proper char and wood scent. We enjoyed the Margherita. This is a must for real pizza lovers.

The proscuitto and arugla pizza is beyond compare...well worth the nearly 2800 mile trip. I love GOOD pizza and have tried it across the USA and Europe and so far this is the best !!!

Pizza 🍕 was very good. The store was small and cramped. The service was passable. It is worth a try to judge for yourself.

I walked along 5th avenue (stayed near times square, and decide to explore Manhattan on foot ) to Motorino, based a Singapore famous food blogger. I arrived after lunch hours and thankful there was no queue. Ordered the fresh clam pizza. 1st look, wow how come to pizza is "cho ta" (blacken) and the clams so small and scattered (I was hoping the pizza was filled with clams) It good enough for my taste bud, and I was really hungry, after the long hike. Not the biggest pizza lover so I cant judge, I had margherita when I returned back to Singapore. and its really plain and simple. (remember to pay extra for additional topping)

We ordered a pizza to be delivered. It arrived quickly, hot and delicious. I recommend this spot and look forward to having a pizza in the restaurant

I ate here last week after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor. I had high hopes for the place but I was a bit disappointed. The topping on the pizza were tasty and they even had proper mozzarella which was very nice but the pizza bread was extremely chewy. Also, the pizzas were very expensive, even by New York's standards.

What an amazing little gem is this. Away from all the New York noise is this small little Italian place. The place was empty but vibrant. They had an open kitchen which was awesome. Over the radio were some classic American tunes and the waitress spoiled us with attention. I had the prosciutto pizza... Outstanding! When it got a bit darker outside they dimmed the lights, lit the candles and turned up the music.... it could have been the red wine, or the heat from the oven, but I felt a wave of warmth coming over me.... something that said "I'm feeling pretty relaxed now". This place is on my list next time I'm in the Big Apple.

Came by twice in two days because I was craving their clam pizza after the first visit. So the clam pizzas are amazing, but their margarita is fantastic too. The second time, discovered their lunch special is much better value than ordering a single pizza. They have a few beers available as well.

I’m a pizza nut. I quite counting after having used my 50th, 25 kilo bag of Caputo flour in my house with my home oven. Needless to say, I have ventured deep into the pizza shed. I have a friend who is a professional Piazzalo and he did the recon of all of the great napoletan places in NYC and said Motorino was hands down the best he went to (and he went to them all). Jim was right, the Pizza at Motorino is simple put, exceptional. We arrived for a late lunch at 2pm and the place only had two other tables occupied. Our waitress was super friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable, a great first impression. We grabbed some wine by the glass and a cream soda and were off to the races starting with a Margherita and a Cherrystone Clam white pizza. I’ll start with the dough and crust. Water, salt, flour, yeast are the four ingredients that Napoletan pizza places make their dough from, sometimes a small drop of oil. It’s amazing how much a dough can vary based on ratios, handling, proofing, ferment times, etc. What’s more amazing is how dialed in the fine people at Motorino have dialed in their magical crust. Perfection! Nice humidity, perfect level of salt, great tug and crisp, excellent oven spring, and just enough chew to it to make it perfectly toothsome. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had dough as good as this. The sauce on the Marg was bright, tangy and full of flavor. The flavors of the Cherrystone clam pizza was amazing. The clams were fresh, of high quality with a decent amount of liquor from the clams and lemon juice on top. A wonderfully satisfying white pizza. I couldn’t get out of there with just ordering two pizzas so we asked for another white pizza, the Cremini with mushrooms, fior di latte, sausage, garlic, thyme, pecorino and salt cured olives. We loves all three of these pizzas but for me the winner, this day was the Cherrystone Clam, bright, fresh and delicious with four ingredients, fior di latte, oregano butter, fresh clam and lemon juice. We ordered the mousse cake for dessert and shared it three way because it’s pretty large and by this point we were very well fed. I’d have a hard time leaving anything on the tray even if we over ordered. :) If you’re trying to find a Napoleon pizza place in NYC, this is the ONE to go to. I look forward to my next visit!

Lively, buzzing little place. Great Pizza. Very busy, had to wait outside for a table but well worth the wait. Not ideal for larger groups due to small, narrow room. 5 of us around a table was a bit of a squeeze making it difficult to cut your pizza. Good sized pizza -couldn't finish all mine, but they boxed up the rest and I gave it to a homeless person on the way back to the hotel.

My daughter and I decided to try this place for a different pizza experience. Service was quick, but the pizzas are overpriced. Also, the place was quite noisy and small.

My friend and I tried here first time, and expected much better pizza here... but nooooo:(!!! We ordered a Margarita and Clam pizza's. Both were subpar. Pizza wasn't hot, there're only few pieces of tiny chopped clams. Both were almost $20 a piece. We also wished the crust was thinner. The server was pleasant and he was very cute talking with an Italian accent:) I will not go back.

We loved the wood oven pizzas at Motorino on the Upper West side. Great flavour and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I read in an article that this place was supposed to be in the top 10 pizza places in the world, so when we went to NYC on an anniversary trip, we made the effort to get here. We came at kind of an odd time - a late lunch around 4 p.m. and there were people there, but we easily got a table. It's a very small place, laid back and trendy. We got meatballs to start - delicious! and I got a small side salad (nothing special). We shared a pizza, which was really good - not too doughy, with just the right amount of toppings. We really enjoyed the place and although I wouldn't say it was the most amazing pizza I have ever had, I was happy we went there and experienced it. It's not that expensive either, which is nice!

We had an amazing time there, had a great pizza and salad. Oven style italian pizza Definitely worth a visit

Having myself lived in Italy and consumed a fair amount of pizzas, I can honestly say that this is a true Neapolitan style pizza - and a great one indeed. I will be coming back, I can only recommend this place.

Listed in the top 10 list for whole pizza in NYC and it does not disappoint. We have a buffala that was a special and a simple margher... Both were fantastic. Pizza size is kind of a tweener. Not big enough to share but not small enough for one. My teen daughter and I had two pizzas. I think the best suggestion is 2 pizzas for every 3 people. Maybe add a salad or appetizer to go with.

We hit Motorino on 12th a few days ago and were favorably impressed. The pizza was quite good and the service was prompt. Authentic tomato forward Italian fare which is sure to please. Great find!

Pizza and dough are fresh and crispy. Decent quality and good price quality ratio. Tiramisu was also very good (although too large for me :-) )

Motorino was amazing. We had the burrata tomato salad and the roasted artichoke as appetizers and a marghertia pizza. The burrata was creamy and delicious with such tasteful olive oil and the artichoke was to die for. The pizza is thin crust and so moist keeps you wanting more but isn't heavy. Usually there is a wait but we got lucky on a Friday night and we're able to walk in. Definitely recommend !!

Motorino is a great place to have a great pizza. We were with a group of 10 (2 families) and enjoyed a nice night out. Atmosphere is great, it’s a small place but very cosy. Would really recommend to enjoy your pizza here.

We shared several pizzas that were some of the best we have had. The gentleman who greeted us was delightful & hapoy to have us there. Service was superb & he made sure we were happy. Do not miss Motirino!

The hubs and I brought our two teenage boys here for some lunch, and, although we waited quite a while to score a table, it was SO worth it. We went Margheritas all around, and they did not disappoint.

Tasty, good sized pizza. Nice crispy thin base with a good sized crust. A bit heavy handed with the salt, but would go back for an easy bite.

Went for lunch and ate every bite! Enjoyed the open windows during the afternoon. Ordered the Pre Fixe lunch- green salad and a pizza for $14.99. Not a slice of pizza- A WHOLE PIE! I had Soppresetta Picante and really liked it. Crust was perfect. Pizza was light and delicious.

Everything was excellent! Appetizers were awesome, we asked for focaccia it was amazing! Their pizza excellent nothing left on the plate and tiramisu was also great. Nice place to go have some pizza lunch or dinner, ill be back when visiting NYC. We all enjoyed.

One of the best Pizza's we have eaten . We both chose the vegetarian options and the mushroom and goats cheese was particularly good . The staff were attentive and helpful it is a very small restaurant and it felt like a true New York experience . Would definitely recommend if you are any where near the East village .

Best pizza in NYC! Crust is light and tasty; fior di latte mozzarella, sweet and creamy; sauce just sweet enough; cooked to perfection. Restaurant is small and tight, but definitely worth the visit if you want outstanding Neapolitan pizza. No need for toppings, just get the margherita with the fior di latte mozzarella.

This place? So good. Small place, great staff. Had the Octopus salad which was amazing. A load of octopus, onions, capers, and olive oil. Large and satisfying. Then they had an artichoke special. My wife commented that it was the best artichoke dish she's had outside of Rome. Perfect. And then finished with a meatball pie and a margarita pie. Both chewy, lightly charred and traditional Napoli authentic pies. You can't go wrong.

We visited with another couple on a Tuesday night. Service was quick but without any pressure. Small wine by the glass and beer selection but adequate. We shared two appetizers and two pizzas, and while no one left hungry, we finished everything. We loved the kale pizza, subbing mushrooms for the meat, and a red pizza with anchovies. The restaurant is small but cozy, and the staff was attentive but unobtrusive.

Had lunch "prix fixe", and was not disappointed. They do mostly catering at lunch time, and will not have problem finding a table for sitting (I saw a lot of pizzas sent out while eating). A nice salad and a pizza baked just right.

Waited 2 hours for the wrong order to turn up When it was corrected it turned up cold and soggy Called the restuarant and they could care less !

I chose this restaurant after reading a blog from a new yorker and i really enjoyed my meal. We took the meatball pizza. The meatballs were so tasty and moist. The basil on top make the difference. It was fresh and so good. You must try the "pre fixe" menu serves between 11h am and 16h. You get a good green salad and a pizza for 14$. Ok. Pizza in US are huge so one pizza for two is enough, i think. You must try it.

Start with the burrata, then a salad and any of the pizzas! You won't be disappointed - 2nd time and no complaints - great service - open pizza kitchen - interesting bar area - can't go wrong - one of the best pizzas I've ever had - 1st time with the burrata - what a treat - creamy and delicious - don't miss it.

I believe that Motorino has thee best pizza in New York. I know many people have their opinions and that's great. But for me, Motorino is the best! The crust is simply delicious and the sauce is great. They can make many different varieties, but I like the red peppers the best. The restaurant is small and gets crowded quickly. But it is definitely worth any wait- I love the place. and they have one in Brooklyn as well. Enjoy!

We live in the neighborhood, and were excited to try something new for a quick meal on a weeknight. After ordering, we sat and sat. We had to ask for our beer a 2nd time. 15 minutes later, we got a very overdressed Kale Ceasar Salad- seriously drowning in dressing. We then waited 25 minutes more, and no pizza. Couldn't get anyone's attention. We sat watching countless pizzas get packed up for take out, clearly their priority, while we got zero attention. We finally find out that our order never went in. We were fed up and asked for a check, but the waiter swore it would be only 5 more minutes. We asked to see a manager but one never showed up. No apology, no offer of another drink while we waited. The pizza finally arrived slightly undercooked with a smoky flavor. They should have comped us the pizza, but nothing. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We will not be returning.

I got to the restaurant because it was near from where I was staying. Surprisingly, we had two great pizzas. The crust is perfect. Definitely I'll be back.

This place was on my list of places to visit and then I found myself one day around lunch time in their neighborhood so.... miserable rainy, windy, cold NYC day and the nearest lunch spot was Motorino! Barely empty, 2 tables with 2 customers each and me. 1 waitress and several kitchen staff, phone ringing off the hook, so the young woman was overwhelmed. Barely had time to throw a menu my way and bring a bottle of tap water. I decided to order the lunch special, $15 for salad and pizza - not bad for NYC. Ordered the piccante pizza and the salad- both delicious. Service was a bit harried but efficient, food was superb. The pizza was crusty yet soft and doughy and very flavorful, the salad simple but fresh and tasty. All in all, good deal!

Was at a party at a friend’s house and we decided to order from Motorino. The pizza was fine but nothing special. Held up decently as delivery though.

After all the individuals who talked up Motorino's to me, it certainly fell short of expectations. The crust on my pizza was half burnt, the tomato sauce was so watery that it dripped off my slice to form a soup on my plate, and the cheese was scant. Thanks, but no thanks. This place is too pricey for the product received.

Very good napoletan pizza, service is good and their tiramisu is excellent. The place is very low key, I go every time im in NY.

Superb We went on Sunday at 3:00. Wasn't busy. By the time we left he tables were full. Had the margarita pizza and the mushroom pizza without the bacon/ham. Both were delicious. Waiter was as sweet as can be. Establishment was very clean. Waiter was wiping down the communal spices in between waiting tables. Your order is freshly prepared. Nothing waiting under a warmer. I will be back!

The pizzas looked good so walked in. At a lunch special at $17 for a Pizza of your choice and a salad it was a no brainer. The salad was surprisingly large and flavoursome, the Pizza was really really nice but too big for one person so could only finish 2/3rds so as to have their Tiramisu which moist and full of favour. Must visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

A branch was opened in my neighborhood several months ago, a great addition. Their pizzas look great but I always stick to the Brussels sprout pizza, which is my favorite. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent pizza and tiramisu, good service and very low key place. Food 5/5 Service 4.5/5 Spot 4.5/5 I go every time in NY

We are here on Saturday night. The location is great and a great vibe. The staff are wonderful. We both ordered pizza. Not the best pizza but ok.

This is not a fancy restaurant by any means. It is just an average walk in and sit down dive. BUT the staff were all friendly and attentive. The pie was amazing. We got a neapolitan and a pie with mushrooms and pecorino romano cheese. Both were great but I would suggest the second one if you are only getting one.

This place was one of the most clean places I have ever been to. From top to bottom, this place looked as if there was a pro polisher in there working all the time. I liked the place a lot and I felt that it was very bright and relaxing. I was really interested in the decor they had there. They made me feel like I stepped into somewhere brand new. I knew that I wanted to stay here for a long time just to enjoy the surroundings. I had a great conversation with my wife when I was here and she had a great time too with me. I want to come back here as soon as possible because of the great memories and pizza.

Motorino has a great selection of pizzas amazingly prepared. We started with the grilled octopus and grilled artichoke both were very tasty. Then we had the amatricana and soprassada picante pizzas both were excellent. For desert we had the Tiramisu also very good. Service was excellent. We highly recommend!!

You wont be disappointed with the pizza or the place. One of the best in "new Neapolitan" style pizzas. A blended approach of traditional neopolitan crust and cooking with interesting toppings as options. Try the brussel spout pizza Crust has great flavor, pull and texture. Toppings are fresh and authentic imports. House sparkling Rose wine is a perfect compliment to the pizza.

We tried the Brussel Sprout, Prosciutto and a White pizza, all very very good! Place is small but fits the bill for a great pizzeria! Waitress was polite and attentive! I'll be back!

Cute little East Village location in a great area for going out and getting a drink afterwards or just walking around and exploring. I came to Motorino with a Groupon type deal that included 2 pizzas and bottle of wine, it was a great deal but their regular prices are very reasonable also and a single pie is a good meal for 1 person. Put in your name and walk around for a bit on a busy night, this place can get crowded and it appears they do their best at seating groups. Pizza was superb and wine list was short but sufficient.

My wife and I taxied to Motorino specifically from Midtown as we'd seen a filmed review of it on YouTube. We weren't disappointed. It doesn't look much from the outside but the pizzas were excellent. We went for the lunchtime $12 special - mixed green salad (with separate little jug of EVOO and Balsamic) followed by a Margherita and Soppressata. A really fab tiramisu followed just to round it off. A very worthwhile exercise to make our way to Motorino and a place we'd definitely regular if we lived in NY.

Fantastic Margherita pizza. Crust was perfect, softer than Brooklyn location.......flour or hydration. The pizza was perfectly balanced! Service was great and would go back to this location anytime I'm in the city. Very small place so pick you times wisely or you may have to wait.
fennel Pizza wine guitar
Pizza was awesome! The fennel salad was a recommendation from a friend and spot on! The bonus/surprise was the atmosphere with a guitarst on Monday night! We gobbled up the pizza before I remembered to take a picture.
