Really enjoyed eating here

By Greenbirds01 |

Came here with some friends for brunch and thought it was really great. I will definitely be coming back, the waiters a super chill and the food is yum.

Great fresh food in the East Village

By Stackhaus |

Great spot to grab some delicious food, with great fresh produce...and the coffee is amazing! On a hot day grab the bench out front or chill in the cool yard out back

Great feeling & food, bit expensive

By FinnishFlower |

Had some good brunch/breakfast on Saturday morning (they open early which suited me well). Lovely staff also, and liked the decor.

Good Space

By Richard |

Mudspot is a quaint vegan joint. It’s a cool vibe in here overall and the staff is noticeably attentive to their clientele.

Nice breakfast & atmosphere

By Matieu M |

Very good spot with a nice ambiance! Their hot chocolate is super good (and I am picky when we are speaking about chocolate), their granola yogurt is great and their pancake is huge and awesome! I enjoyed the place ... They just need to be a bit faster when it's about serving!

Brunch for Two

By Rachel C |

Not sure how they accomplish so much with so little space. Delicious brunch! The Huevos Rancheros are 👌. Coffee 😍Mimosas ✔️. All is good at Mud! Definitely is the hangout so if you come with more than two, you could be waiting a while.

Awesome brunch

By Sudneko |

I've stopped by at MUD to have some late breakfast. There is a seating area inside - bar or tables, and there is a nice inner courtyard / terrace. They serve brunch whole day long. Prices are reasonable. The menu is very good - granola with fruits, oatmeal, huevos rancheros, eggs any style, banana pancakes with fruits. I had a plantain cake, and I enjoyed it a lot. Everything was very fresh. MUD coffee is served in huge mugs, so you'll be energized for a day for sure :) Tip for those who want to get a coffee and a quick snack - there is a nice bench outside, so don't forget to bring a newspaper or a book to read.

Charismatic Cozy Oasis in the East Village

By Two-Wheel_Traveler |

I’ve been coming to this coffee house for years. For character and off-beat charm, it’s hard to beat. Certainly you won’t find a Starbucks or Dean & Deluca that can match MUD’s (officially Mudspot, but my friends all call it Mud) quasi-funky ambiance. I’ve spent hours there talking with friends and enjoying coffee, beer, or both. Cozy is a good word to describe the place. There's a space in the back that used to be outdoors, but was later covered with a plexiglass-type roof. I recommend sitting in the back during most of the year. During the winter, inside the restaurant proper is probably cozier. The restaurant got its start as a fleet of coffee trucks that vended their wares about Manhattan. As their popularity grew, the restaurant on East 9th Street was founded. The neighborhood is wonderful, if not quite as colorful and gritty as it was 10 or 15 years ago. There are still plenty of one-off shops and restaurants to explore. The encroachment of fast food and tasteless restaurant chains is less than in other parts of the city. Of course, MUD’s coffee is very good and there’s an unusual selection of local craft beers that never fails to please. Wines are also on the menu, though I’ve not ordered wine except for once, and it was good. The menu is pretty consistent with straight forward but tasty dishes. My favorite is the Huevos Rancheros on their all-day brunch menu. There’s also French toast using sourdough bread encrusted with almond slices that is very good. Prices are reasonable, considering you’re in Manhattan. Service is quick but possibly not the restaurants bright spot – it can be good, but it can also be gruff, particularly if you wear a suit and tie, as I often do. Just be prepared. My trick is to pretend that the waitstaff is French (i.e., non-proactive, at times surly, but reasonably effective when guided) and instantly things go very well. But don’t let the service put you off. I highly recommend this charismatic little gem that is slightly off of the beat tourist path.

Amazing hidden spot

By Beatrice G |

Love their avocado toast and French toast. They have a back room with see through celing filled with natural light. Highly recommended for brunch of breakfast. They serve food at night time. Coffee is delicious. Cash only

Great food

By frednat2 |

We went twice for breakfast and largely avoided the queues by turning up early on weekdays (c 9am). The banana pancake is the best in manhattan we had and we tried most of the top rated places. Huevos rancheros were also light and tasty. The French toast were also amazing and felt healthy: sourdough bread and almonds, a great combination. Love this place.

Great spot for brunch!

By Shirley I |

We met friends at Mudspot on 9th street between 1st and 2nd Ave. They offer delicious coffee and a terrific menu for brunch. Try to be seated on the patio in the back.

One of my favorite New York spots

By Ace Vivendi |

If you like a place you don't have to brag, so I'll keep it simple: very cozy atmosphere, relaxing and calm music, nice service, and above all: hell of a breakfast (the earlier you go the less crowded it'll be). They even have Tompkins original bagels there, which is a double plus!

essential weekend hangover coffee. good brunch. my dog loves their free dog biscuits.

More than Mud

By Sue P |

We love to come to Mudspot when we get to NYC. In the winter it is cozy and in the summer you can sit on the patio and enjoy. The coffee is the best in the city. Luckily, we have always had Little Greg as our waiter. Our breakfast (or lunch) is always incredible. I only enjoy my eggs when they are hot out of the kitchen and Mud never let's me down. This trip was no exception. Every one of our breakfasts was super...where else can that happen but at Mud?

Hits the spot!

By Rymerglass |

Judging by the ambiance, the menu, and the clientele seated at nearby tables, I felt like I hit the mother lode of trendy East Village boîtes. It was delicious. All of it. The owners and staff of Mudspot hit it out of the park on all three counts. My scrambled egg omelet with cheddar cheese and bacon bits (real bacon; big chunks) was truly yummy. The seemingly homemade lemonade was tart and refreshing. But before the food arrived, I was already quite happy. The excellent wait staff had made sure of that by both their attentiveness and politeness. During the short wait for food, I was quite happy to look around and soak in the charming, quirky décor. And Mudspot scores bonus points for exceptional people watching opportunities. (Hint: If the outdoor courtyard at the rear of the restaurant is open, grab a seat there.)

Great Place!

By Shannon M |

We found Mudspot by accident a few years ago and it is now on our list to visit every time we are in NYC. The food is great, the service is always great. Be sure to have a cup of hot chocolate!

Very chill

By Kate D |

This place is super chill, staff is nice and the food is nice. Pretty good selection for brunch. Was friendly for a family with 3 kids and couples on dates.

My go to place for great coffee and breakfast

By verypicky57 |

I discovered this place my first morning on this visit to NY. The coffee and hospitality are outstanding. Breakfast was lovely and they prepared my healthy requests beautifully. This was 1/2 block from my hotel so it was convenient, too. I was happy to have found this lovely spot.

Terrific Brunch Menu and great service

By RestlessInBrookfield |

We had brunch on the 4th of July holiday weekend. The menu had the traditional brunch type items, including yogurt and granola, banana pancakes, omelets, tea, coffee, and mimosas. Portion sizes are filling without being too much food. And the service was great. The back room is large enough to be comfortable for groups of 4-6 at a table. They have a full bar for lunch and dinner visitors.

Hard to find, worth the effort

By funmidwestmom |

Had the avocado toast, with over easy eggs and sausage. Every bite was so delightful. The toast was nutty and delicious, with creamy avocado and sunflower seeds. The eggs were perfect and the sausage had a hint of maple syrup Can’t wait to go back and try something else

Great FUNKY

By Mrs Bartos |

Great Coffee and food, we went there for breakfast on the recommendation of a local friend it was awesome. Funky atmosphere and fun outdoor eating spot out the back!!

Post dinner stop

By verypicky57 |

I love this place for breakfast. Tonight we stopped in for a glass of wine after dinner and for an extended visit with family. Great music and service provided a nice end to the evening.

Great Vibe Coffee Shop

By Ian_Stokoe |

Called into Mudspot (also known as Mud) to meet friends for a coffee whilst over in NYC. This place had a great vibe, as well as friendly and knowledgable staff. I recommend the Mud Mocha, damn nice... The East Village is a cool, happening place. Hell, Jimi Hendrix old apartment is in the same street.... If I am correct, the building which occupies Mud used to be the Beastie Boys record company address. Another great reason to visit.

Best Brunch in NY

Complete magic - my FAVORITE of all NY cafes

By Kendall B |

Love everything about Mud - love the coffee, love the all-day breakfast, love the staff, love the location, love the customers, love the atmosphere, love the tiny bathroom that reads "In Pursuit of Magic." Because, really, this place is complete magic. They have created bliss for solo artists and the romantic couples alike. After one visit, the staff already remembered me, and asked if I wanted the same coffee order. I will say: don't be afraid to try something different at Mud. Their Mug o' Mud is special for a reason. It's the perfect combination of steamed milk and sugar. No one else can replicate their java magic. Also a huge fan of their Plantain Breakfast Cakes. My absolute favorite stop in the city goes to the magic of MUD.

Yum. Coffee.

What's Not to Like!?

By Bill G |

All the good vibes you think the East Village should have are here! Of course, on some days there may be a wait for a table, but it's all very cordial and welcoming. The food is all individually prepared, most if not all of it organic - and very tasty. In other words: not your ordinary coffee shop. In fact, to complement your meal - be it breakfast lunch or dinner - there is also beer and wine. As I said, what's not to like!?

Best coffee and great food in adorable neighborhood

By Darryle |

I used to live a couple blocks away from Mud and found it by accident just walking around, went as often as I could while I lived there and every time I visit NYC I stop by at least once, more if I can. Their coffee is perfection, but my absolute favorite is their chai lattes. I am a chai lover and theirs is the best I've ever had (I try a lot). Their food is very good, I love going for brunch. It's cash only, so keep that in mind, but add it to your list to visit on your next NYC vacation!

Just brilliant!

By terrifreestone |

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. Initially we couldn't find the place as TripAdvisors map pin was misleading, but so glad we persevered! Any place that sells breakfast goods all day, and well in to the evening, has my vote! Delicious, fresh food. The guy serving us was so attentive and helpful, without being pushy or conversely, indifferent. Service was quick and food was obviously fresh. Probably my favourite dining experience whilst in NYC. Highly recommend.

Great breakfast@east village

By theworldismyhomeblog |

This small restaurant, like most in NY, is a great place to have breakfast if you're around east village. There's a covered patio in the back where you can relish on some tasteful options as huevos rancheros, french toast with fruits and plantain cake breakfast with a big cup of coffee. Fair prices and good quality = recommended.

HIDDEN GEM NEAR UKRAINIAN VILLAGE

By M Y |

My wife, daughter and I were meant to meet for breakfast at Velsaka near Ukrainian Village but discovered that the restaurant had closed for the day for renovations. Not certain where to go for breakfast, we stumbled upon MudSpot and decided to try it out. When we first entered Mudspot, a quirky organic restaurant, it was quite dark in the main section but we were taken in a larger naturally bright room where there were more tables and people. My daughter had an egg-white omelette while my wife had the spinach omelette. I had the 'everything' bagel with cream cheese. My daughter and I had bottomless cups of drip coffee. The food and drink were great; service was good as well as the ambience; once we were seated in the more brightly-lit room in the back.

Wow what a great place....

By Imagine |

Walked by Mud ... It looked really cool and came back the next day for lunch.....we ate on their terrace and everything was just great!.....if you are vegetarian you will love it...I had an avacado sandwich and I think it was the best I ever had.....when you walk in you forget you are in NYC ....it feels more like you are in the country.....reminds me of a Woodstock cafe!....if you are in the area stop in you will not be disappointed ....😄

Great All-Day Mexican Breakfast

By T-Africa2000 |

One of the coolest spots in the East Village. Beautifully done with great attention to detail. There are a variety of breakfast options with Mexican elements in a lot of them. I loved my enchilada and my wife loved the breakfast burrito. The cappuccino was seriously good too. Good value for money. Very friendly staff. Awesome place.

Easy to Miss, but Worth the Search

By 1TNtraveler |

Cool place for coffee/breakfast/brunch. You have to know where you're going because the entrance is small and not well-marked. Our group of three enjoyed the avocado toast, granola bowl, and MUD burrito along with coffee and a latte. All was very good and service was fine. Prices are average for NYC ... about $59 plus $12 tip. Would go again.

MUD a gem in the East Village / Healthy food, great service, chilled out spot

By Mr P. |

I visited Mud aka Mudspot on Saturday morning with my two business partners as we were seeking a chilled out place in the East Village for an early breakfast. Upon walking into Mud he immediately get a sense of laid back, healthy, coziness, characteristic of places in the West coast and rare in New York City. The breakfast menu did no disappoint. Plus the coffee was very very good and served in big cups. Some nice healthy variations of classic breakfast dishes - lots of egg, avocado, grapefruit and salmon. Both the grilled chicken citrus salad (sliced grapefruit, navel orange, red onion, avocado, goat cheese, toasted almonds over mixed greens) and the Buttermilk Banana Pancake were delicious. Mud features an outside garden eating area with 6 to 8 tables which are great for a larger group or a sunny morning. While the food took longer than expected to arrive it was worth the wait given the ingredients where freshly cooked. The service was laid back and proactive. Before I would ask, one of waitresses has dropped a spoon in my coffee and handed me a napkin. The only consideration is that Mud is cash only, so make sure you hit the ATM before visiting. Mud also offers a Weekend Brunch for USD 18.50 which includes a Mud Coffee, Tap Beer, Mimosa and a Fresh orange juice plus a main breakfast dish. In short Mud is the perfect spot for breakfast and brunch if you are looking for quality food and a chilled out atmosphere with great service.

Atmosphere is funky hipster.

By Jim |

Not sure why this spot gets such good reviews? It cannot be for the Huevos Rancheros or coffee! Atmosphere is funky hipster, charming. Floor staff is good. Umm…not much else to say. Bottom line: will try someplace else next time.

A real jewel in NYC

By Karl M |

My daughter brought me here because it is one of her favorite places and it is fantastic. Coffee is great. Food is great. Service is excellent. It's small so there aren't many seats but if you want one of the best places in NYC this is it.

Must go

By Gabriele P |

Amazing place for breakfast! Good espresso (from an Italian point of view) amazing Sourdough french toast with almonds.

So good service....

By Mette E |

Even though we arrived with many suitcases and asked for a table for six people, we were seated and the luggage was stoved away. So good food and very good service. Will definetly go there again. Thank you for your help.

Good grungy cafe, but not great

By TerenceAtkinson |

A grungy hangout - indie music, dark inside with music posters and art on the walls. Popped in for brunch. Food was ok - we had the banana waffle with fruit, the omelette and the huevos rancheros. All were fine, nothing great. Service was slow. Coffee was good, again not great. Had to pay extra for a latte over the standard charge for brunch. Overall - good.

Cash only! Great grilled cheese!

By JaxAmerican |

There's an HSBC on 2nd (catty corner from the restaurant) if you need an ATM. We had a light, sparkling rose ($38), a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches (one with tomato soup) and a B.A.T. and we were good to go. Nice relaxing in the very back, unhurried, lovely.

great coffee

By ZoyaKNewYork |

Love the coffee. Hipster quotient is off the chart (East Village style). Pastries are good and I love their t-shirts too.

Quintessential cool

By pbolland |

Went there for brunch on Sunday ... $17.50 included a drink, (great!) coffee and food. I got the special, a chorizo omelette, that totally rocked. It's rustic, so don't go looking for flashy decor, or a fab bathroom, but the food was delicious and the staff friendly. Cash only, and busy on weekends.

Cool Breakfast

By Wayne M |

Lovely little cafe in the East Village. Breakfasts are hearty abd great value. Really great coffee too!

Good Vibes! Excellent Chai Latte!

By EWWSanFrancisco |

Eating in East Village in New York is such a challenge because there are just so many choices! But MudSpot Cafe is one of he best finds! Service is quick and friendly... Breakfast reminds me of breakfasts in and around the San Francisco Bay Area- down home taste, large portions, and great local feel.... My favorite? Their French Toast topped with fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, apples, oranges) and their huge cups of Chai Latte! Prices are reasonable also... A real feel-good no frills place in my book! They have clear bottles of water at every table... Another plus!

Great little spot

By 60004Kathy |

Solid, all around good breakfast. We went on a Monday morning because weekends are a longer wait. We did not have to wait for a table at 11:40. We started with a chocolate croissant and a pecan sticky roll. Both quite tasty. The coffee drinkers were happy with their assortment of morning picked me ups. The Huevos Rancheros were good despite the crispy tortilla--never quite sure how various locals are crispy and others soft. I had a chicken sandwich with arugula, red peppers, and avocado. It was a good flavor combination and a filling meal. One of our group had oatmeal that was topped with very lovely berries and sliced almonds. The waiter was excellent.

Really excellent food, good value and friendly.

By Amanda P |

We visited for brunch on the recommendation of our son who has been studying here. Although fairly tight on space we were comfortable enough to enjoy our excellent brunch. There was a really interesting choice of brunch dishes and a good selection of drinks. For a fixed price you got your meal, a large coffee and a cold drink too - beer, fresh orange juice and maybe other things too. For around 16 dollars this was exceedingly good value, especially considering the size of the portions and quality of the food. I definitely recommend this as a good experience, but do be prepared to wait for a table at busy times.

Lunch to go

By Valeria Rovellini |

First of all, we stopped by for lunch, not brunch, on a Tuesday afternoon. We wanted to go have a picnic at nearby Tompkins square park, so we grabbed something to go. The place is small, but cozy, and all of the employees are young, nice guys. It took me some time to decide because so many items include avocado, and I don't like it. My husband went straigt away for a Chicken salad with orange, goat cheese and... ehm.. avocado. In the end, I chose a salmon bagel. Our total bill accounted for 28,50$, and that's the reason for not giving 4 starts. I mean the food is good but I think 30 bucks for lunch is too expensive. It took some minutes for our lunch to be ready, but I take it as a sing that they make items to order. Our basket was complete with all we needed - cutleries, condiments and tissues. We sat down at a bench in the park to enjoy our meal. My salmon bagel was good, but it had too much salmon (maybe that's the reason why it costs 13,50$), which, when eaten raw, can beome chewy. I discarded some and the bagel was alright. My husband liked his salad, the orange and grapefrui gave it a fresh twist. You can definitely have some fresh, made-to-order food at this place, but if I go there again I'll pick one of the breakfast specialties which everyone here seem to like.

Best coffee in NY

By Nori N |

Love the coffee and the food is delish as well. Small, but full of character. It is a great place to start the day. I highly recommend the caramel cappuccino and the nutella and banana sandwich on sourdough bread.

loved the food and mimosas and coffee

By Mena M |

well my little cousins took me to so many food places and definitely this place was one of my favorites places I would recommended 100%, i had the avocado sandwhicn and mimosas and coffee and it was amazing i didn't even talk for like 10 or 20 minutes, my cousin, her boyfriend and her roommate was hysterical laughing at me, because of it, but i was enjoying my meal :P. would love too go back, the place has a beautiful garden place vibe. loved it

Great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

By sabrinouille |

I've been several times to New York and this is my favorite place for breakfast in east village! They have delicious baggels, muffins and Chai latte. And a terrace at the back quiet and cosy. This is a very nice place to relax. You can also have lunch and dinner.

Best Chai in NYC? Maybe!

By Tricia M |

We googled "best chai latte in Manhattan" and Mudspot came up. And it happened to be right around the corner from our airbnb! IT was DELISH. And the breakfast food was outstanding too. Very charming place with friendly staff.

Great brekky & coffee!

By 896anon |

Being a Melbournian we enjoy good coffee, which was hard to come by in NY, however we found a good batch here and they were generous with their size! Also ate breakfast which was delicious (and also a generous size). Vibe was also great with good service.

Good muffins, good coffee

By Joey613 |

I came here for a latte with almond milk and ended up also getting a cappuccino muffin after the sweet barista/cashier convinced me to get one. I wasn’t disappointed, she was right. Both were very tasty. After paying over 5$ for bite-sized lattes at other places in the area it was refreshing to pay the same whilst getting a normal large-sized one from here

Loved everything about this place!

By Robin H |

My son lives in NYC, and during my visit last week, he insisted we have brunch at Mud. I loved it! Great food! Great vibe! Outstanding service! My son had the avocado toast, and I had the cheddar grilled cheese. Delicious - and so many tempting options. The best part of our experience, however, was definitely the service. The wait staff was exceptional. They were so attentive and so courteous. This is a hidden gem in the East Village. We will definitely make a point of visiting MUD on my next visit. FYI - make sure to have cash!

Not a good value, moderate portions, poor service

By austinana |

We're a fan of the Mud Truck, so we thought we'd try out it's affiliated restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. It was somewhat of a disappointing experience. After a wait, we squeezed through a narrow passageway in front of the bar to be seated at a 2-top right next to another 2-top. We're not from NYC, so we're not used to (and don't like) eating basically with strangers on top of us. Then we ordered with great anticipation, only to have a wait so long for our food that we had to ask the server when we'd be served. She had never stopped at our table beforehand to apologize or keep us informed about when our food would be coming. She also never warmed up our coffee. The food was good, but the portions were so-so (special Presidents Day burrito and french toast). All in all, it was a disappointing experience and we won't be back.

Great brunch!

By Monkeyboy45 |

Our AirBnB host recommended this place, in the fantastic East village, on our first day and we were so thankful to have a decent breakfast being totally jet lagged and unable to think straight! They have a great brunch menu that includes either a mimosa or straight juice and coffee for $19.50. We all chose differently, due to the great selection on offer. I had the Mud Burrito with additional bacon that was so soft, full of flavour and rolled up beautifully with a side salad. We also had the Mud avocado toast with eggs and huevos rancheros that were all delicious and fresh, all served up in a really cool vibe with friendly attentive waiting staff. This and the mimosa's made it a great start to our holiday. Recommended.

Great food, coffee, service and vibe!

By JackBSeattle |

We were staying around the corner and tried Mudspot for brunch - everything was great! Good variety on the menu - I had a homemade biscuit/egg sandwich on their special sheet - amazingly good. Service was quick and pleasant, latte was good, cool music on the sound system... all added up to a great vibe. Highly recommended!

Quirky coffee shop

By TheDivingFoodie |

Visited on a Saturday morning. I wasn't able to have seated brunch because they only offer a set menu (seems the norm in NY), so I sat at the counter. Coffee is ok, not really anything to shout about (a little bland), and I had a massive cherry scone which was lovely, but overall quite pricey. Friendly staff and nice interior.

Great Saturday Brunch!

By Carolyn P |

For $21.95 I had a delicious mimosa served in a cute little Bell jar, strong dark delicious pour-over coffee, greens lightly dressed with a vinaigrette, and a huge burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, avocado, bacon, rice and beans. My friend has multiple food allergies and sensitivities and was easily accommodated. Perfect Saturday brunch!

Hipster but average

By Sam K |

This place is very average for what it is . Was recommended it so we made a special effort to go. My breakfast burrito wasn't anything amazing but it was very filling. Girl friend got the sour dough French toast which was good but way too many almonds. Maybe I am past the age of "hip" locations but I didn't think there was anything special which would make me come here over another brunch place .

Nice brunch spot, great coffee

By Tommy77 |

Mud is tough to find and I missed it even when looking. Great thick serious coffee! Not messing around with that breakfast blend stuff - this Is the real deal. All of the servers were very friendly p. food was good and like I said - we drank a lot of coffee and I ordered some grounds online that I make at home. Sit outside in the back! A+

Nice and cosy place

By koen B |

Good place for lunch, coffee or to chill out. Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere food and drinks. There is a nice terrace at the back!

Delicious for Dawdling

By TallisSisters |

What a fantastic coffee shop! It's tight in the front but the back garden has sweet candles lit, a wait staff that lets you sit for hours, and scrumptious bites to go with your world-famous coffee.

Perfect brunch spot

By ianexn |

We had a great brunch there last Sunday. Its a small place but completely unpretentious. Food is excellent and despite previous comments good value. The staff make it with their friendliness and humour. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for something different .

Great Brunch, with easy pricing

By jb8865 |

We went here after being in NYC for the weekend. Our party of four sat inside and had a great brunch. All had omelets, some had beer, some had mimosas. Overall, the food was excellent, although it gets pretty crowded at breakfast.

Perfect place in east village for a brunch .

By Gargantua |

We came here on Monday because we try to eat here on Sunday for brunch but I was packed … the waiter was very professional and friendly . The music selection is amazing . The decor is like your next door neighbor in NYC ( very arty and cosy ) . The food was delicious and served generously . A must go in east village .

Nice Spot!

By cunningtim |

This place is a hole in the wall, perfect for the younger crowd. Good food and friendly service, and lots of positive energy. Be aware and prepared, cash only.

Great Breakfast Spot!

By misopiso88 |

I was in NYC for work and met two colleagues for breakfast at Mudspot...DELISH! Food and coffee were both terrific! We got a nice table in back and it was quiet enough to talk. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood!

Great for breakfast

By michsally |

Food choices are really unusual but really worth trying! Healthy and tastes good. Recommend the French toast as was the quesadilla! Also try the iced drinks.

Great breakfast place

By Robin S |

We were staying in the East Village for a week and went to Mudspot for breakfast. We enjoyed it so much we chose to go back another time that week. The oatmeal and eggs were well done and the atmosphere intimate. Since it was winter, it was a little cold sitting in the back but they did their best with heat lamps to keep everyone comfortable. Definitely recommend for breakfast if in the area.

Great Brunch Deal!

By pageporter |

Stopped in late Saturday afternoon and requested to be seated inside which we enjoyed more than being outside in the crowded back courtyard. Cool vibe on the inside and staff super friendly and efficient! Was told that they were only serving brunch. Turned out to be a great deal! For $18.50 each we got an awesome cup of coffee (we chose iced), mimosas, I had a goat cheese, caramelized onion mushroom omelette and my friend had the egg and avocado, rice and bean burrito. My entree came with sourdough bread and greens. Both were excellent! Would definitely go back!

Tasty enough but nothing special

By MatthewABC |

I had a tasty banana pancake and some juice. Both were good without being particularly notable. The ambiance was not to my taste but may appeal to some.

Delicious breakfast & coffee

By Clemens D |

Cute hide away to experience East Village breakfast culture. The food was delicious and fresh. You find all the typical menu options. The covert back yard seating was very nice. A great place to start your day!

GREAT VIBE! adorable inside - great staff - excellent food and cappuccino!!

By ColoradoLvr |

We stayed in East Village for 6 days and came to MUD 4 times!!!! Both for just cappuccinos and also for food - DELISH!! Staff is awesome - atmosphere is adorable, cool, cozy - LOVED it!!

Great food, great place

By Kjgaebel |

Went for breakfast and it was delicious. Great service. Out of myself and two friends we all thought it was great and the food was so good!!

Pure joy

By DW |

From the second I walked in, to the time I left I had a nothing but a smile on my face. The vibe, the music and the food was just awesome. Small yes, but bursting with character. The staff is very friendly and the food was very good. I came because I read an article that the had the best chai tea latte in the city; haven’t tried every place in nyc to confirm that, however it’s definitely in the top 1%. Fun fact, they may have the smallest bathroom in the city, which depending on the type of person you are, could either be fun and adventurous or just piss you off, I thought it was pretty funny.

Get down and dirty at Mudspot!!!

By Gooki |

If you are in mid town/ east village you must visit this tiny but awesome place. I have been several time during the day and all menues are fantastic. My favorite is brunch. Try the avocado sandwich w multigrain bread. The juice and coffe are great too. The huevos rancheros are an explosion of flavors. You must get them too. 👍

Fun place with wholesome food

By Jangitak |

Good spot for a variety of brunch options. The coffee is very good but they charge for refills. The cup is big and gets cold during the meal--$2 for a warm up??? The omelette was delicious though and the huge banana pancake was divine!

Feel the Love!

By Caroline W |

I found the Mudspot because I had experienced a grim chai latte at the Standard in the East Village and wanted to restore my faith. Can’t drink coffee so a good chai latte is the next best thing. Oh wow...what a difference! Best ever and I have tried a good few. Breakfast was great too plus relaxed vibe and friendly staff.

What a cute place! If you are going one time, do yourself a favor and get the banana pancake. It's one of the best I've ever had. But remember, CASH ONLY!

You've got to try the chai

I absolutely love all of their lattes and chais. They also have a great brunch deal that comes with a huge entree and a mimosa.

What a great spot to start our NYC trip! Creative & healthy menu, stunning service and solid atmosphere. Coffee was just incredible too! Love the history with Beastie Boys!

Unique coffee and brunch spot!

By Josiah David C |

I went for the classic chai latte served in a orange tin mug, and it was the best I've ever had! But the coffee and tea offerings are only one dimension of MUD. The brunch menu is spectacular, and the cozy seating arrangement creates an intimate, one-of-a-kind feel. On a nice day, grab a table on the patio and you'll be sure to linger. Try MUD for a casual coffee date or a serious foodie brunch. Something for every palate, and an unreal finesse and quality that'll keep you coming back.

Great coffee

Their coffee is excellent and always served at the perfect temperature, which I really appreciate. I love this spot for a late night drink (wine or beer) because they always have great 60's and 70's music.

My girlfriends raved about this place so decided to make this an important stop to meet with family. Very eclectic, staff was friendly and most importantly the food and coffee were great.. Will definitely come again!

Great hole in the wall breakfast and lunch

Have gone here twice this summer while visiting friends in NYC. Got the iced Mud mocha coffee which was some of the best coffee I've ever had, and got the banana pancake, which yes was only one pancake, but was so big and so thick and SO GOOD that I had to take a whole third of it to go. Had some of my friend's French toast and another's avocado sandwich both of which tasted fantastic. Great cosy and lively atmosphere and good service. I plan to come here every time in visit the city.

Never come back again..

By Sabrina T |

.. this was the answer of the waiter (asian) as we left the bar without giving a tip.. We were here 3 days in a row for breakfast because it is a very nice place and good food.. We always paid with cash and left a tip.. But the last day my aunt (she doesn't understand english) paid with her creditcard and didn't knew that she has to put an extra tip into the "payment process", this is not common in Europa.. Instead we were waiting outside of the bar, when the same asian waiter came to me with the bill in his hand and asked again for the tip and said exactly this sentence: "if u don't give me a tip i suggest u to never come back again.. Too bad.. But so we will do that and never come back again!!

just coool !

Loved the way the place looks, loved the waiters, and loved the music ! I had a vegetarian sandwich and a coffee, both good. Above all, a good place to have a seat, relax and take in the good vibes

Cool vibes, great coffee

We came super hungry and ordered way too much food, it was hard to choose from the menu since everything looked so good! We had the black bean nacho as a starter and breakfast burrito after that. The burrito didn't taste much though, but the coffee (soy latte) was really amazing. Cool vibes and great music on the stereo.

Great little cafe!

By Simone M |

This place is always packed but as I was "living" in the building next door, had the chance to find seats during holiday time. Great food, great coffee and hot choc and the breakfast food is just beautiful! Service is always great too, one of the few places I didnt mind tip in NYC!

Grungy breakfast

All day breakfast in a grungy Indy place. Food is good. Sitting in the patio to be recommended. Service is nice. A little overpriced for the quality offered.

Best breakfast in east village

By lisa72768 |

Very small restaurant with a fun and upbeat atmosphere. We had a 30 minute wait to get in, but it was worth it! The french toast with fruit and huevos rancheros were amazing. The coffee and mimosas were also very good. Everyone working was so pleasant and nice. Prices are reasonable and the menu is amazing. A must visit when your in the East Village.
