Very good experience

By Ural Ü |

Tempuras and Sushis were in line with my expectation great cocktail with sake ( must try) decent service and a great location.

Terrible waste of money and time

By 8503 |

Three of us were seated and ordered entrees. Two were served together and the third (tacos!) did not arrive until 20-minutes later, The place was too loud, patrons were wearing ball caps and T shirt at the dinner hour, the waitress wiped down our table with a wet rag before we paid the bill and the food was mediocre at best. The manager could be replace with a baboon tomorrow and nothing would change. Time to clean house and start over.

Horrible first and last experience

By Linda Y |

The food was terrible and took over two hours to come. My friend and I got there at 8PM and left at almost 11pm. The rib eye yuzu truffle tasted burnt, and the sauce it came with was tasteless. The crispy rice was so salty without using any sauce. The Wagyu dumpling came at the END - after two hours - and was lukewarm. The waiter was great but the food was terrible. Considering I spent $400, this was one of my worst experiences. I would not go back again. My local sushi restaurant tastes better.

SO OVERRATED LEFT STARVING SO DISAPPOINTED

By Trina R |

First of all, the ambience sucks it's really just a regular restaurant, the lighting was just normal, no music, the decor was just...eh. but fine, I mean wo hoplooks filthy but has delicious food right? So when I'm paying $600 for 3 people I am expecting to be fed delicious, existence-defying meals to my fill and satisfaction, WRONG oh God were we so wrong. Each item is enough for 2-3 bites. Taste was fine but really nothing better than any other "Michelin/Zagat/New York Times" rated restaurants. The quality of the sushi was great (as it should be for $50 ! Roll LOL) but I am telling you, go to BONDST sushi, it's the same quality if not better, for half the price. But it's not the price tag that was most offensive- it is the exploitation of patrons' expectations for a certain atmosphere and dining experience for what essentially turns into a bait and switch for something that's overall "good" or "fine". Shame on the Nobu corporation. GO TO BONDST. YOU WILL THANK ME. No seriously, go to BONDST.

Good service, so-so food, noisy place.

By se9834a |

Good service, food just ok - covering the fish with heavy sauces/spices/oils, but the quality of the fish was just so-so. The place is very noisy - impossible to carry a conversation.

Top notch

By feddyaroundtheglobe |

Plenty of tasty choices. We tried shrimp tempura, crispy rice cubes with avocado, spicy tuna rolls, a lobster dish and the prestigious wagyu steak. Good flavours and nice atmosphere. Service can be improved.

There was a hair in my drink at NOBU57 and nobody cared

By NapendaTanz |

Yes, a I pulled a long, wavy hair out of my drink in horror. I then quietly told one of the 12 waiters that was dropping things off at our table and he silently took the drink and eventually replaced it without saying anything. So I told our actual waiter and he gave me a blank look and went about his business. Was anyone sorry that I had a disgusting piece of hair in my drink? It doesn't appear so. I realize that NY waiters pride themselves on not being friendly, but a simple apology goes a long way (so does 'Thank you' at the end of the night but this was also obviously too much to ask). This was our 3rd time to Nobu57. The bill was $300 and we will not be going back.

NOBU WOWS

By Edward W |

The food was amazing and the service could not have been better. Can't wait to return for a repeat performance.

Lives up to the hype!

By Cassie W |

Wow, food or art?? Finally decided to splurge and try it out while in the city after all my friends raved about it. Everything was so good, presented to the nines, and surprisingly okay in the pricing department. Definitely worth the $$$ spent

Overrated

By Abigail |

I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant because of the great things I've heard everywhere. I would say the taste of the food, does not match the price and makes it seem overpriced (it wasn't to me). The ambiance and service was outsianding which made up for it in my opinion. I would definitely dine here again because I love sushi and the Japanese cuisine. I would love to try other items on the menu to justify the high-end pricing. Overall, I would encourage my friends to dine (even if it's just once) to enjoy the experience for themselves.

Sushi with Peruvian Influence

By OliverToffling |

Fine dining for me is a subtle and nuanced experience. Nobu beguiles me like few other restaurants. Nobu has an intimate, slightly surreal feel with a vibrant buzz of activity and the accompaniment of soft trance music. The staff strikes the perfect balance of being attentive without being obtrusive. The cuisine is distinctive based primarily on the unique combination of exotic spices and flavors combined with flawless presentation. Nobu is the sublime nexus of many sensory pleasures.

Nobu back in Style

By alexei1511 |

It was so lovely to return to Nobu-one of my top six restaurants in the world. The service and ambience was just as was expected before the shutdown and the food was sublime.

Fresh and Delicious!

By Innové Travel |

Loved this restaurant! Everything was fresh and delicious with great service and a full bar. We sat upstairs which I believe was a little quieter.

Fantastic dinner

By Luiz_Augusto_Barroso |

Excellent food, Matsuhisa wines are worthy and try the black cod with Miso. If you book in advance you may get a good table !!!

Highly Recommended.

By rogerl251 |

We really didn’t know what to expect at Nobu, but I must say I was impressed. My GF and I went there for dinner and everything was fantastic. The atmosphere is a trending Asian fusion style, and the staff was incredible. We took our cue from our server who made several recommendations; all were perfect. Nobu is now one of our favourite dining experiences. They are known for their Miso-Marinated Black Cod and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended.

In one word: Outstanding!

By Georgios V |

Amazing food and great service. We tried the New Year's Eve menu and we were not disappointed by the variety and food quality. Highly recommended.

No Thanks!

By brad804 |

For the first time in my life we were angrily asked to leave the restaurant before dessert because the manager wanted to turn the table. This restaurant is very popular now, but the economy may turn whereby the manager will regret his attitude. We will never go there again. Further, I put out a memo to my entire staff, that I will not allow expense reimbursement from this restaurant. Even the table next to us were shocked by the manager's attitude. We will tell this story to every person who will listen to it. The funny thing is is that I have been to several Nobu restaurants and have always had a positive dining experience. I guess it is easy to to rude and unapologetic when your restaurant is hot.

Spectacular Dining Experience!

By Kimberly W |

What a spectacular dining experience on Saturday, January 14th!! After seeing Death of a Salesman on Broadway, we arrived a bit early for our dinner reservation for 7 people for my sister's 55th birthday but they wisked us right in. After a round of cocktails, our server advised its best to order multiple dishes to share and started to give his recommendations but he was so charismatic and confident that we asked him to just choose the dishes. And we were so glad we did because a plethora of dishes, each more delicious than the last just kept coming. Some so good that we reordered them! And to top off the meal, some one ordered the House made Sake cocktail and it was so amazing that it was ordered for the whole table, at least 8 rounds! What an extraordinarily unforgettable dining experience!! Highly recommend!!!!

Good but grossly overpriced

By SDW |

Nobu is a great restaurant. Things are just off of his last visit. The oil and scallops are cooked it wasn’t fresh

Meh

By Michael G |

Exorbitantly priced for a meal I feel I could have gotten at Applebee’s. Nothing sourced that exceptionally difficult to find and nothing executed to any degree of skill that I cannot achieve in my own low end applianced residential kitchen. Attended because of the hype and learned our lesson.

Disappointing Return Visit Won’t Rush Back

By marchibald |

I was really looking forward to our dinner at Nobu NYC on the last night of our trip — we’d been in December 2019 and had an incredible experience. Unfortunately, this time it fell well short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, the front-of-house staff made us feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. The host barely acknowledged us, avoided eye contact, and just motioned for us to head upstairs without a word of welcome. Once seated, the service continued on the same cold note. Our waiter barely spoke to us throughout the evening, seemed disinterested, and left us feeling like we were an afterthought. It was a real contrast to the genuinely warm and attentive service we’d received in so many other places on this trip. On a positive note, the food was still very good. The crispy rice with spicy tuna remains a standout dish — perfectly executed and packed with flavor. But when you’re dining somewhere like Nobu, the experience is about more than just the food, and unfortunately, the lack of hospitality really soured the evening for us. To top it off, after tipping (a more than fair 10% considering the poor service), I overheard the waiter making a derogatory comment about it. For context — I happily tipped over 20% in multiple other spots this trip where service was genuinely excellent. Really disappointing from a place of Nobu’s reputation and price point. Won’t be rushing back.

An experience to remember

By I love Pancake |

We went on December 24th, and we couldn’t be happier. Service was outstanding and the food amazing - as always. Our server Rene and the SA Jocelyn made our dinning experience one to remember! I wish I remembered the name of the server who helped us at the bar as she was really gracious as well.

Awesome experience, great ambience and delicious food.

By Kelvin T |

My family and I are frequent visitors. We love Nobu. There is amazing service and great foods. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the city,

Hit and miss

By yaniv s |

The “Asian meets nightclub” concept was perfected in their Las Vegas venue, but here it misses the mark. Mediocre sushi and rather gummy black cod (signature dish elsewhere) seemed like a backdrop for the noisy atmosphere, more fitting for a boys’ night out

Oh boy

By Kitspellman |

I have never even thought about writing a Yelp or a tripadvisor review of all the years it has been around but tonight actually drove me to open an account on both. I had heard of nobu all over there place and decided to give it a try. I got the reservation for 4 and showed up on time. I am a sushi lover so if this is the place to be surely the sushi must be phenomenal. First of all it is not fine dining. I dressed up for the occasion but apparently everyone else in the restaurant must've got the memo that t shirts and sweats is totally fine. Ok forget about the crowd let's move on to the dingy atmosphere. It felt very cafeteria like and seemed to have a weird smell. As we looked around more we realized there while restaurant was filled to the gill with dust balls. I mean everywhere. You look up down left right and you can spot disgusting dust balls everywhere. The table top as soon as we put out elbows down we noticed how sticky it felt. As you can tell we were a already thinking it was gonna be a tough night. So the server comes and asks us if we wanted tap or bottled and we opted bottle to err on the safe side. We ordered several cocktails and for 20 i was thinking they better be spectacular. None of them stood out and i questioned even if they put alcohol in some the cocktails as they were so weak but i was not gonna spend another 20 on another watered down drink. We were finally given menus and my god the prices were ridiculous. So i started to order sushi cause surely the sushi must be the reason for these prices. As i started the server stops me and asks if we have ever dined there. I said no but we were more interested in sushi. Than she just starts going through a spiel of the menu which i guess was her job but afterwards i said we will stick to sushi. She seemed annoyed and left. 5 mins later she finally comes back and i order enough sushi for 4. I guess they were busy cause the sushi took a while but no worries there. All the staff looked depressing and tired. Out of nowhere a bunch of staff roll these huge circle tables around us and start changing table tops in a chaotic way it was rather nerve wracking. So the sushi comes out and i realize it was very average at best. Handrolls are supposed to be crunchy but all of them were soggy. Eek. We were hungry so we ate it all but paying 500 for a plate of sushi is ridiculous. Also they don't mention that a bottle of fiji costs 10$. Oh lord oh lord. Basically we did not see the waitress after the order till she tried to push desserts on us. I just asked for the check. This place needs a major overhaul and also i noticed the waitress giving a lot more attention to guests near us who apparently went with "nobu style of dining". It seems that this place does not care for the middle and lower class people who usually never spend 500 or more on dining normally. Maybe nobu should put that on the description. If you decide to dine anyway make sure you take a good look around. They keep it very dark in there i guess so you can't see how dingy and dirty the place is lol. We went to get pizza after for 20 $ and was much more satisfied. If you want good sushi there are many other places so do some research. Unfortunately i did not and suffered the consequences and a much lighter wallet.

Worth it

By mconnoyer |

Wait staff was great! Very helpful and friendly. Food was AMAZING and it was such a treat. Beautifully decorated and very timely service.

Not impressed

By Alissa G |

We were there on a Tuesday night so it was a light crowd. We arrived at 7:45 and were seated right away. We had a Party of 5 and the waitress handed us 3 menus. We had to ask for 2 more menus for some reason not sure why. A few of us were dining for the first time and the menu was explained to us very quickly and we could barely understand our waitress. We placed an order of 5 items for the table to share and they were brought out before the drinks arrived, we felt very rushed. Half way through the meal we all of a sudden had a new waiter. We did order a few more items, the food was great, It was just a very odd dining experience for a so called upscale restaurant. It felt like they just wanted to get us in and out. Not super impressed after spending $800 for an hour meal.

Not worth the price

By Carlos T |

Flambé wagyu beef very disappointing as well as the tempura king crab. The tiradito and oysters exceptional. Service very good.

Incredible Experience

By Faye F |

Amazing experience. My daughter and I had a fantastic dinner. We were on the fence since we read reviews about the food being bland, but it was completely the opposite. Our server was amazing as well, she made sure the ambiance from our dinner was up to par with expectations.

The best!

By Nigel W |

Wow , my son had been so keen to visit as part of our trip to New York , we were blown away by the quality , taste and experience …. By no means cheap it is worth every penny though an absolute treat , could not improve on any of dishes tried nor the classic old fashioned !

Unique

By Eliana |

A dream come true, Nobu is a paradise for those who love Japanese cuisine in a unique and inimitable environment. After a long wait for booking you will be rewarded by an unforgettable experience.

A Vibe!!!

By KDF |

First experience & I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, quickly prepared & hot. No complaints!!! The Spicy Garlic Shrimp & yellowtail were amazing.

My favorite NYC restaurant

By Alex G |

We love this place and go out of our way to visit whenever we're in Manhattan. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Usually we tell the server what we like and don't like then let them create a menu for us. We've never been disappointed.

Fall of style

By Giacomo Z |

New Year's Eve dinner 2023 with friends, tasting menu: what can I say, very good but very few courses (only 6) for the asking price (over €300 each). Sore point, a truly embarrassing lapse in style at the end of dinner: after paying a bill of over €2000, we were asked if we would like a coffee which two of us accepted and it arrived together with a second receipt for $12 ….

Great outing with friends. Nobu made the night very special ! Nothing was missed.

By IrontPT |

The atmosphere, food and service just can’t be beat. Started at the bar downstairs with the best bartenders. Followed upstairs to the table with an amazing wait staff and culinary masterpieces.

Romantic dinner!

By Dyan T |

Nobu is our very favorite special occasion restaurant! The food is always amazing and atmosphere is perfect! Such a great place for a romantic night!

Nobu 57 th has seating at the bar most nights with full menu

By dtc216 |

Nobu 57 th will not disappoint . A place to be seen or to see the famous ! Do not worry if you can not get a table the bar has pretty much a full menu ! So when in the city it is worth the trip for classic Nobu sushi and other dishes . Bar on first floor with sushi bar up stairs to seat!

First class everything!

By Donna S |

This is truly my absolute favorite restaurant! Food is fantastic, ambiance and service five star! Can’t wait to go back.

Disappointing Dining Experience

By Iris L |

We were really looking forward to dinner here. The food was okay - but certainly nothing special. One fish dish was overcooked, another was a very small portion. Sushi rolls were no better than our regular Japanese restaurant. However, the worst part was the service. Although a weeknight, and not overly crowded, the service was sub-par. Main courses were brought out at different times. Overall - prices are high, portions are on the small side and food is okay, nothing really special. We understand that Covid has made things difficult for restaurants but Nobu did not live up to its reputation.

Great Resturant

By Eran M |

Great food great service Everything was so fresh The sushi and the sashimi was super taste and the fish was so fresh 5*****

Best meal!

By Nicole R |

I saw a lot of reviews about poor service and was a little worried. However, upon arrival we were met with the most amazing servers. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name but our server went through the dishes, helping us decide on what to try, and even asked the chef to prepare a selection of sauces for our meal as we were not sure about spice levels. The food was truly amazing and a week later we are still obsessed! We came all the way from London to celebrate my 21st and Nobu made it super special. If you go on a weekend, I would recommend the lunch set menu, it was amazing value for money. The beef donburi was the best beef we had ever tasted! The staff were even willing to take photos for you. This was the most amazing meal and expereince and we will be back!

Nobu 57 continues to provide

By TonyLovesToDineOut |

Nobu 57 continues to provide a wonderful dining experience. The meal and the service were great. The sashimi was very fresh and prepared perfectly. Highly recommend the lobster tempura - very tasty. Be prepared to pay a premium for this experience

beautiful and exceptional

By Jim D |

the food the wine the dessert all were outstanding, could not find a flaw in anything. we were greeted immediately and brought to our table without delay, everyone said hello and were only to happy to help.

Bad service good food

By Resort33773107229 |

NYC Downtown location : Quality of food was excellent, but service surprised me badly - I will not recomend to bring your guests there.

Almost meets the hype

By HBerke |

Nobu is legendary and I’ve wanted to try it for some time. With much anticipation we booked for an upcoming birthday trip to NYC. There’s a lot of outdoor seating now and we were glad to sit inside. You have to order by scanning the menu on your phone, this was a little disappointing at a fine dining restaurant. Nonetheless, we ordered some great dishes like the sticky rice and avocado, eggplant miso, the famous miso cod (worth it) and lots of sushi. Even the desserts were wonderful — donuts and a caramel, coffee brownie. When you’re paying Nobu money and a glass is accidentally knocked over and it breaks with the drink everywhere, it should be replaced. That’s just a courtesy at a restaurant but it was not offered to us. Otherwise the service was good. We enjoyed our meal and would say it’s definitely a special occasion kind of a place, but, don’t feel the need to dress nicely because plenty of people were wearing T-shirt’s and shorts.

Exceptional!

By stingley23 |

We've been coming here for years, always loved it but hadn't been for quite some time. So we just returned there for lunch and...it was just as awesome as always! We love sitting at the upstairs sushi bar and getting recos from the sushi chefs. This time we were in more of a veggie mode, so only had a couple seafood dishes - the yellowtail jalepeno (our fave), tiradito w/ fluke (lovely w/ a nice spicy kick), rock shrimp tempura (yum), then the hearts of palm salad and warm mushroom salad. Everything was so delicious and the service is outstanding. Go! One note, we like this location 10x better than the other ones in NY.

Ordinary food for extraordinary prices

By Connor |

Phone customer service was practically nonexistent; was on hold for 15 minutes before giving up. Food is okay but far from worth the premium. The waiters drum up stories about some of their "famous" dishes like they're amazing recipes but they were pretty ordinary and didn't taste much better than what I've eaten most elsewhere. Best-tasting dish was yellowtail jalapeños - a few slender bites for $31, so extrapolate that for the much more humdrum courses and decide whether it's worth your time (going back to point 1 - the phone call definitely isn't).

DURING THE VIRUS

By doug100worth |

DURING THE VIRUS dining outdoors is spectacular as the tables are under the building overhang on 57th street and between the buildings between 56th and 57th street. Dinner was terrific, as always. Frankly, being able to eat outdoors on a nice night is a treat

Outstanding food experience

By Hugely |

One of the best eating experiences we have ever had !!! Amazing service and food was great ! Can’t wait to come back and do this again

Daughters Birthday

By KZSNY |

Family favorite. Amazing food and always consistently excellent. Ambience is great, service is first rate. Can’t say enough about this mainstay.

Severe drop in standards

By Cemil G |

My first visit since Covid hit and a disappointment that was. The tuna/salmon tacos were fine, the black cod rubbery and the dessert (caramel brownie thing) tasteless. My lunch partner wasn't too happy with her choices either (mushroom salad and cauliflower) and both her dishes went back half-eaten. Finally, the ticket price has gone up and is certainly unacceptable in view of the (poor) quality of the food. I don't think we will be going back.

Amazing vibrant ambience! Nice food and excellent service ! Good for families too !

By The Sextans Guide |

Nobu is a now a NY Japanese classic! The atmosphere is very vibrant and can accommodate all types of groups from business to friends to families! Excellent food nice cocktails and top notched service !

Nothing special, but very good service.

By Annie B |

My mom and I went for dinner to Nobu 57 on a Monday night. It was absolutely packed. Despite this, service was extremely fast. Our waiter was very nice and polite. A lot of good wine options. Had a Chablis premier cru that was delicious. We ordered the lobster ceviche; a bit disappointing just because of the size (tiny) and was a bit too cold to appreciate the taste. We also ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, and 3 types of makis. Nothing was especially amazing, just ok. I was not disappointed, just underwhelmed. Im happy I went but I wouldnt come back.

birthday dinner

By fnisenfeld |

this was the 2nd time we celebrated our son's birthday at this bustling lively japanese eaterie on our annual xmas long we in nyc.course after course after course caused me to lose track.impossible to decide favorites.they all were so specially great.place is batting 1.000 2 for 2.as expected only downside is cost but.hey.solo viviamo una volta!!!!(we only live once!!!) lol

Great food, poor service.

By davidtate68 |

Our entrees were not served even close to the same time. Two people in our party were done eating by the time the fourth entree was delivered. My wife ordered an Iced Tea, never came (but was on the bill). Our server didn’t stop by once between taking our orders and bringing the check. Overall, the food was very good, but everything else was a bit of a disappointment.

A disappointing trip to a classic staple we have been to many times.

By JeremyDBoyd |

Had a 10pm reservation and as soon as we were sat we had a 20 minute window before the waiter returned. Once that happened we requested a new table as we were buried in an awkward back corner booth. Upon sitting we were told we had about 10 minutes to place our order since the kitchen was shutting down. Long story short we went along with it and were rushed thru our entire dinner plate by plate, were overwhelmed by multiple plates being sent out, no spacing out plates at all, just terrible pressure to EAG and get the hell out. We had 12 plates on our table at one point. We were told several times the bar was closing, the lights were going to come on, we had to close out etc etc. Pretty downright ridiculous for a restaurant to put on the pressure with a 10pm reservation (we were still out by 11:30pm) where I spent $600 bucks on a party of two. I’ve been to 6 Nobu restaurants. Sadly this was my 2nd time at this one. Will be my last. I feel duped out of $600 and a pleasant experience. It’s not about the money it’s about the experience for the money. It wasn’t there with Nobu 57 and the food wasn’t anything great like I had experienced in the past. Disappointed. Not just that - literally pissed. Could have chosen any restaurant in NYC to spend this kind of money at and felt like we were treated like herding sheep.

Excellent food, attractive

By Pamela F |

Excellent food, attractive plating, great service and nice surroundings - hard to beat! We stopped in for an impromptu family lunch at Nobu on 57th after seeing some Christmas sights in the area. Our son ordered (he and his wife are regulars) and everything we had was wonderful. Standouts for me were fluke sashimi, the baby spinach salad, the yellowtail sashimi and the tenderloin. Service was attentive including adding hinges to the kids’ chopsticks and patiently replacing chopsticks that hit the floor. Recommended!

Exquisite Culinary Journey at Nobu 57th: A Fusion of Flavors and Elegance

By Yane C |

Nobu 57th in NYC exceeded our expectations, rivaling the culinary experience we had in London. The flavors and presentation of the dishes were outstanding, living up to Nobu's renowned reputation. However, the entrance was a bit elusive, causing some confusion. Despite that, once inside, the ambiance & service were impeccable. From delectable sushi to inventive fusion dishes, the meal was a memorable journey through flavors

Exceptional.

By RP M |

Simply exceptional - food, service and ambiance. No place better for sushi. It’s pricey and worth every penny.

Bad service

By Ramin Sahami |

Horrible service and over priced food. Please be careful go over your bill I will never go back to this restaurant

Predictable Perfection

By Seema E |

Each and every time I visit Nobu I am always pleased and never disappointed. The quality of food and flavours are always consistent which is why I keep returning each time I visit NYC. With all of the restarant’s to choose from - I always include Nobu in my meal planning. The jalapeño tuna and miso spinach salad are my most favourite. Reservations required if dining on a weekend-

Sushi lover delight

By Lscottie |

Top notch. Wonderful food and a sushi lover delight! Mini tacos and shaved artichoke salad are wonderful starters. Fabulous ambiance and service.

Delightful

By erika2205 |

The restaurant is well designed and atmospheric, and the food is as you expect from a Nobu. Service is easily the best (remember, the waiters work for tips here...) and the cocktails are imaginative and strong. Recommended.

Very average.

By Alto2015 |

Having been to Nobu in Dubai (amazing) I thought I would try the original in New York - wish I hadn't....there are way better restaurants in New York. The decor is dated and the food mediocre. There is a mezzanine floor which leaves the restaurant with a very low roof on the upper level - which exacerbates the feeling of it being overly crowded. The place was absolutely packed which just goes to show that a restaurant can live off its name. Won't be back.

Pleasantly Surprised!

By donnacam2014 |

I was a bit "eh" on coming here, as I've heard it's overated, but our experience was the opposite. Waitstaff were extremely attentive, food was fantastic and they made a great Spicy, Skinny Margarita! Edamame, Shishitos and Crispy Rice with Spicy Avocado were FABULOUS for starters and honestly, the Black Cod w/Miso may have been the best I've ever had! Great Asian food when you don't want to go downtown.

Meh

By Wanderer59572711993 |

Was so excited, but super disappointed.$350 lunch and super average. We left confused by the hype.Probably the worst of the sushi places we have been to.

THE BEST !

By lee p |

Absolutely one of the best ! Service and food impeccable! Best sushi I’ve ever had no question! The drink menu was amazing. Sat at the bar and the service was first rate along with the food .

Always great at Nobu

By Melissaleonard |

It’s always delicious at any Nobu . It’s also very trendy and an in spot to people watch. It’s in a great location on 57th street too.

WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF MY FAVES

By Joaquin R |

Nobu is guaranteed to be the top quality in Japanese food, anywhere you go, it will always be great. This time I went with my whole family and they all loved it. Sushi and starters were great. They also have some inhouse specials you need to try out. Be ready to spend 100+ per person.

Overpriced, Overhyped

By JaWestPalmBeach |

As one of TravelDad.World clients said, this reminds of a Cheesecake Factory with expensive prices. It is definitely good, but not excellent and not innovative. It is overpriced, it is so large that is impersonal, and just does not justify the hype and cost.

Yes… put this on your list

By nan |

A lovely spot, great location, great food and service. Maybe a little too eager to clear away dishes. We shared from cold and hot menu with waitress help as to choices and order of service

Get all the desserts

By 742mesar |

The food was amazing. Our waiter was lackluster but his support, Jake, was absolutely fabulous and made up for the waiters lack of attention to detail and effort. We ordered three desserts because we couldn't choose which to have and they were all amazing. Also, prices are cheaper here than at Nobu Vegas so we got allll the wagyu, yum yum!!

Just Alright

By Kami C |

Service and food were great so were the drinks but portions were extremally small. A few items we wanted to try the place didn't have anymore but other than that it was ok

Birthday Dinner with my Daughter...

By Rashida R |

We were greeted kindly at the door and directed upstairs to the dining area where we were once again greeted kindly. The waiter's and server's were very attentive from filling our glasses with water, to having my napkin refolded when I went to the ladies room, and swiftly removing the plates when we were done. I received a lovely surprise with a platter of chocolates with 1 candle with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. I will definitely return....Thank you for the beautiful experience!

Japa of First Quality

By Silvia L |

Nice environment, very kind waiters and excellent food. The restaurant is expensive, but it's really a differentiated Japanese.

Nobu 57

By Johnny Novo |

I hadn't been to a Nobu in years and my preconceived notion these days is that it has become a chain and sort of lost its luster of being the "it" place when it comes to sushi. I mean a quick google search informed me that Nobu now has over 50 locations worldwide... 50!?!?!?! But that's okay. Nothing lasts forever. All good runs must end at some point... I mean even Kobe had to announce his retirement a month into his final season because he needed to take the heat off of him playing so bad lol. Father time truly is undefeated. Needless to say, I walked in here with low expectations and fe- Wait. Do you hear that...? Oh my god...is that the Undertakers music!?!?! NOBU MADE ME EAT EVERY LAST WORD OF DOUBT, MAKING ME RETHINK IF FATHER TIME STILL HAS THAT 0 NEXT TO HIS RECORD. The quality of ingredients in here was a great reminder that there are levels to this game, and Nobu is on the top level. I won't go into great detail on any one dish because everything was so good, but the must haves are the Toro Tartare with Caviar, Yellowtail Jalapeño, Crispy Rice w Spicy Tuna, and the Black Cod. Okay you know what, I need to go into great detail about the yellowtail jalapeño. It was the best cut of fish I have had outside of Japan, likely because of the sauce. It took every bone in my body to not pick up the plate and drink the remaining sauce from the plate like it was the milk left over in my bowl of fruit loops. I need to shout out my boy Darryl who was SO consistent in refilling my water right as it got to a dangerously low level and for bussing the tables between every course. His timing and precision were insane. Precision beats power and timing beats speed. The attention to detail here is nuts. I will close with a quote from the great Roy Jones Jr: Y'ALL MUST HAVE FORGOT! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Delicious as usual

By Keira Mason |

Love Nobu! Delicious fresh sushi. Love the tempura and rock shrimp appetizer. Broad selection of sake. Large restaurant but still recommend reservations

Not what I expected...

By Toseta |

My first visit of NOBU was in Las Vegas and I was impressed by the quality of food and by the culinary fantazy of the Chef that fo rme NOBU was the best restaurant ever.I came back twice to NOBU in Vegas and always was happy about my experience! On my recent trip to NYC, I have decided to visit NOBU on 57th street. I couldn't make it for dinner, so we decided to go for lunch. The place is great! Service and decor are impeccable! BUt food was a disappointment. Although some of signature dishes were great, like rock shrimpo pop corn and jalpeno yellowtail, but overall I didn't feel that freshness of the food, as I did at NOBU in Vegas. Lobster ceviche was dry, miso seabass was a few days old... I hope to come back again one day and have a chance to try a dinner at NOBU on the 57th.

Nobu Scottsdale - getting a very poor rating for the bad custover service we received last night.

By Juls1975 |

Just not up to par with the quality of the other Nobu locations that I have experienced. We had reservations and it was overbooked and we were offered a table in the lounge. The wait staff that we had was a trainee on a Saturday night???? She was not familiar with the menu. I felt bad as this would fall on managment responsibility to make sure the staff was properly prepared for a Saturday night. It was very disappointing evening due to lack of communicaiton, training, preparedness from the Scottsdale Nobu managment. The food is very good - the customer service was just below standards.

Hand Hygiene is Non-Negotiable

By Amy M |

My husband and I have been loyal Midtown Nobu guests for years, visiting several times annually. What happened during our recent visit genuinely concerns me, and I'm sharing this because I believe the restaurant can address it. After finishing dinner, I stepped into the restroom before leaving. That's when I witnessed an employee exit without washing their hands. When I reported this to the second-floor receptionist, I was met with skepticism rather than concern. He asked what color clothing she wore, as if he doubted my account. I went downstairs, hoping for a different response. The first-floor receptionist informed me that employees aren't permitted to use those restrooms. This raises two important questions: First, on basic humanity: Why aren't employees allowed to use available facilities? We're all human beings with the same needs. Second, on operational standards: If employees aren't using these restrooms, who's monitoring them throughout service? Who ensures supplies are stocked, cleanliness is maintained, and plumbing issues are caught before guests are affected? Here's what matters most: Whether an employee is using the facilities or checking them, hand hygiene is non-negotiable. This is fundamental food safety protocol in any dining establishment, let alone one of Nobu's caliber. I'm disappointed not because I want to criticize, but because I've experienced the excellence this restaurant is capable of delivering. I'm confident the management team would like to know about this gap so they can address it. Has anyone else experienced similar concerns at high-end establishments? How did management respond?

Very gluten free accommodating!

By Daja607 |

Always amazing. Nobu is expensive so just expect it. Amazing food. Really enjoyed the crispy rice cakes. Always get the miso black cod and sea bass. Both cooked to perfection. They changed what they could for gluten free. Even knowledgeable on crispy rice cakes cross contamination when fried. Will always come back.

Good food

By Maria |

Wry tasty food. I don’t know if it’s better than the other location or the Nobu in Miami but it’s was good. I believe the staff may be a little too stiff and should be more accommodating but that’s me.

Excellent

By Mark F |

Excellent service and food I would highly recommend this place very good quality and always on the money

Observant Server

By Emma C |

The atmosphere was energetic and inviting. The action that stands out is how our server made an observation off spicy on 2 dishes. She quickly acted by removing plate, chopsticks , and the dish. Promptly replaced the dish with apologies. Also, charges were removed from the bill. this shows the character, professionalism, and attention fro the server. It is a testimony of the quality of Nobu. it was an absolutely incredible experience.

Son’s Birthday

By Kay Sam B |

Absolute horrible service, tried Nobu New York and Dallas, but the service in Houston is horrendous. Forgot my drink and my sons birthday which was confirmed couple times and was a special occasion. Our waiter was clueless and when complained to the manager he was very rude. Food was not bad but between getting us wrong food, long wait time and worthless service absolutely not worth it. For this price Papas Bros or Vic & Anthony’s is much better choice. My visit date was 10/09/2021 at 9pm.

Don't stop going!

By Waldo Perez |

Expensive but absolutely sensational! You need to reserve. I went with a tasting menu for $225. Excellent. Each round was more delicious and exotic than the other. An explosion of flavors. Também tomamos um Chardonnay de Oregon maravilhoso I highly recommend!

Delicious food and drinks!

By SunSandStyleSports |

I went here with a coworker on a Thursday night - walking in without a reservation. They had an event there that night, so they made sure to let us know the cutoffs for food and drink. The staff was attentive and courteous when letting us know last call, etc. The food was delicious- highly recommend the teriyaki salmon and crispy rice with avocado.

Great Anniversary Dinner

By Zman1972 |

We visited Nobu Fifth Seven last night for our anniversary and we had an incredible dinner!! The place is great for a date and for families. I asked for a table with a view of the chefs and they provided a great spot. We started with the new style martini and sunset spritzer. I loved that they had a piece of sweet pickled ginger in the Martini and my wife loved the spritzer! We started with an order or Toro Tar Tar with caviar. I will say it’s a pricey appetizer, but it is amazing! My wife literally closes her eyes when we get it and has a smile on her face as she chews!! Next was the shishito Den Miso peppers. We have had them with salt but these were fantastic! They seemed to be broiled with the miso and there were a couple that had a good amount of heat, but most of them had a little kick but not too much. They also added a bit of thinly sliced eggplant with miso that was delicious. I would order the eggplant in the future. We had a tuna and king crab taco. The crab was the freshest I have ever tasted and the tuna was as well. There was a chimichurri style herb mix on the top. Then came the star of the show! The black cod with miso. I get this every-time we eat here because it is my favorite. They boil the cod with miso and the ends and the skin gets crispy and delicious! We were so full after all this, that for desert we had a couple pieces of mochi which were sweet and very good!!

Absolutely outstanding

By bbsydney96 |

We had eaten at only one Nobu previously and had loved it very much so had high hopes for a special occasion meal at Fifty Seven. We were not disappointed. Although Fifty Seven is a busy bustling restaurant, service is personalised and staff are top quality. This was an evening we won’t forget and want to particularly thank our waitress (Julie, we think) for her explanation of the dishes, her warmth and kind hospitality. Nobu is a very special dining experience and this lived up to it completely.

Perfect!

By Cla13bdAD |

Pleasant atmosphere, great staff (very professional and giving good advises), and excellent food: essentially Japanese but with an American touch for some dishes. We had a great time!

Delightful experience

By Carrie D |

It was an absolutely delightful dining experience. The service was immaculate and the food was divine. We will be returning!

Top Japanese restaurant in Manhattan

By Luciana Xavier |

It’s a top quality Japanese restaurant. The food and the service are perfect. The environment is beautiful and chic. However, you really pay for it. It’s not a low or medium budget place. It’s an amazing place and one of the best I’ve eaten in life.

I loved every second!

By Amalia G |

Our server Pea was perfection- checking on our table just when we needed her and working with the chef to create a sake pairing experience like no other. And the food was beyond wonderful! So happy with the whole experience.

If you want to pay to $ and freeze this is the restaurant for you

By Laura S |

Was so excited to get back to NYC after a long Covid break. One night called for one special restaurant. Wish we had not picked NOBU. The section of the restaurant we were in was freezing - luckily I had brought my coat but who expects to wear their coat during dinner. The waiter said he tried to fix but acknowledged this was a problem area in the restaurant - the manager said this was the first time he was hearing about the problem - what a joke.

Make sure you review your itemized bill

By Carolb4161 |

I was originally overcharged by $200 + Good thing I reviewed my itemized bill in lieu of what I usually do which is just hand my credit card over. Drink order was wrong, dessert order was wrong and then to be overcharged. The waiter claimed that the table next to us paid cash so their dinner was mistakenly added to our bill. That is truly a lame excuse. I’m sure they were not the first table to ever pay cash. I was also billed for more sashimi than I ordered.

By Y S |

We finally visited this iconic spot. The atmosphere and service were excellent, but the food didn’t live up to the hype. At the sushi bar, they served a variety of fish—many with the skin left on—but some pieces tasted noticeably fishy. The cold dishes were a highlight, especially the Yellowtail Jalapeño and Toro Tartare with Caviar. Unfortunately, the famous miso black cod was overly salty, and for the steep prices, the overall experience was disappointing.

Nobu is a legendary brand

By suresh_chawla |

Nobu is a legendary brand in the culinary world. I have been to Nobu 57 several times. Several times going to the same restaurant in New York City? That is breaking my pledge. I do not visit the same restaurant several times unless it is exceptional. The exceptional are Gallagher Steak House, Jean Georges, Milos, Gramercy Tavern and some more. I made an exception in the case of Nobu because my family likes to visit this establishment. It is a great restaurant, undoubtedly but not worthy of repeated visits and earning 5 Stars on each visit. The novelty wears out and I start comparing the Nobu preparations to those of Momoya on Amsterdam Avenue. On like to like preparations Momoya stacks up on par with Nobu. Nobu 57 is 3 times more expensive than Momoya and that pinches when the memories of DOW dropping almost 4000 points in one week still remain fresh. Yes a visit to to Nobu 57 is a must for an exciting culinary experience but I am not sure if it deserves repeated visits when Momoya offers me a similar experience at one third the price. But then price is not a consideration in this city of hedge fund boys and girls. I ain’t in that category. Cheers and enjoy Nobu 57 Suresh Chawla Toronto, Canada.

Boring experience does not live up to previous visits in other country service was okay but not at the top for the price

By Peter L |

I must admit I was disappointed to have visited several places and last in Dubai and this does not live up to what we have received before from you the fish was not so clean very fat on and our stomachs have been a little pressured we think a single quite tasted a lot of fish

Great as always

By puninskaia |

Nobu 57 is always amazing experience! The food is delicious, my favorite is the special shefs’ crab with truffle, crispy rice tuna is one of the best in town. Definitely recommend trying sashimi, very fresh. For matcha lovers, the gelato is must have.

Nothing special

By Jarle H |

Based on reviews and pictures we were expecting a special place, but we found this quite ordinary; A big open space on the 2nd floor, very crowded and noisy, with average sushi at a high price.

Love Nobu

By Erika G |

I've been to Nobu in Las Vegas and Bahamas as well and they're ll great. This location was hard to find if you're not familiar with NYC. It's a bit hidden and the location on google maps wasn't accurate. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was excellent. I am sad that they changed the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The old version that we used to have in the Bahamas was much better, but this happened at all locations not just this one. I wish this location had the Cucumber Sunomono salad that the Bahamas menus has.

Even Walgreens has better sushi!

By Alessandro B |

Worst sushi I’ve ever eaten. So overrated; even the sushi bar at a grocery shop has better. I had to wait more than 25 min after my reservation for a table and didn’t even receive an apology although if i wouldn’t show up i would be charged $50. The food was extremely overpriced, without taste and the rice dry. Very very very disappointing! Save your money and go to a better place.

Perfect for Lunch

By Travelholic |

This is a great lunch spot for business meetings. Service is great, food is amazing and they keep things moving so it’s not drawn out which I really appreciate when I am short on time and want to limit a business lunch to under one hour and half. Definitely will return also central location.

Very slow service

By THOMAS F |

Service was terrible, very slow. Hostess was rude. Service was terrible, very very slow. Hostess was just plain rude. They acted like they did not want us to come back

Great Sunday brunch spot.

By Olive z |

Service was spot on. Food was succulent. Host team was attentive, friendly and prompt. Drinks were perfectly concocted.

Great place for date night

By daniel |

The Valentine’s Day menu was a wonderful selection of signature dishes. Servers do a great job explaining each dish and how to best enjoy it. All plates are beautifully presented. The environment is also nice.

Dinner after a Show

By Wandering_Freee |

Upstairs dining room opens at 5:30pm you can order stuff at the bar earlier. We got the wagu dumplings they were amazing. Best dumplings I ever had (5 pcs to an order) . We didn't do sushi but 2 hot entrees. Chicken teriyaki and spicy vegetables with tofu. Both were great. Staff was super friendly.

Best Nobu in NYC

By Anthony C |

Excellent food, excellent service, friendly and accommodating staff and servers. The food was made to perfection and served in a timely fashion. Each course was explained in detailed by the experience server and was presented beautifully on the plate.

very fine japanese dining

By 657laurentf |

Nobu 57 is a great experience of fine japanese dining. service is attentive and minute details are taken care of, children are attended to , with non alcoholic cocktails, and the food is divine! miso black cod, spicy shrimp salad and new style sashime are the favourites ! when available, nigiri sushi of soft shell crabs is not to be missed.

Overpriced

By Samuel A |

Over priced. Great service, Fair sushi, great dessert. Especially disappointed by the highly recommended Tempura King crab dish.

Extremely small portion sizes.

By verouscka |

Nobu is a great restaurant. Service was spot on. Food was amazing, but extremely small portions for the price. Before covid I don’t recall the portions being this small, but overall we had a great time.Drinks were perfection. My friends enjoyed it.

NOBU RUNIED MY DAUGHTERS 18TH BIRTHDAY

By KeithJS2014 |

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE We ordered a very special dinner at Nobu for my daughters 18th birthday that was to be delivered the next day between 6:30 and 7pm. The next day, Postmates sent a confirmation email saying the food would arrive at 7pm. I received a text that they charged my card at 6:05pm. At 7:15pm, no food. I check my phone and see an email saying "Your order could not be completed and has been cancelled. Your account has not been charged and we apologize for the inconvenience." No phone number for customer service. I google for number and find one for merchants. I call and find customer service. They say sorry, there was an item that was not available so we canceled the order. I explained that it's my daughters 18th bday and this is a special dinner and to please get it back, without that item. "Sorry, nothing we can do". I call Nobu, speak to Jacklyn, who was super nice and explained that they are out of wagyu but she could get everything delivered, and express it and I said thank you so much. No food at 9pm. I call Nobu, no answer. I bike down there and nobody is there. NO SPECIAL BIRTHDAY DINNER. THANKS POSTMATES. THANKS NOBU.

Great service, great food

By Mark M |

What more can you ask for? Our waiter (regretfully I forgot his name) was outstanding. Never missed a beat. Neither did the chef. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

Good but not great

By Alizeh HR |

We came here with friends who are true sushi lovers and this was their first time at the restaurant. We all got the omakase which was good but not always great - for example the scallops weren't a great texture for sushi etc. Also didn't like feeling a bit rushed at the restaurant - as soon the last person finished their last bite (which didn't take long) the waiters would swoop in half a second later and grab the plate bringing in the next course in under a minute. We felt like we didn't have time to breathe between courses. Given we spent $350 per person with drinks, tip and tax - I would have appreciated better food and a bit more patient service (will say the servers were quite nice - it was more the pace of the whole meal that was the problem).

Fun Date Night

By Maggie |

We thoroughly enjoyed a nice parents night out. We ordered Oceans 12 Chef Selection which was great! Each tasted very different and delicious. We also loved the squid pasta and miso soup. Drinks and dessert were also very good. The service was INCREDIBLE! Very nice and attentive staff who were obviously working very hard. The ambiance, etc made for a very relaxing and fun experience. Expensive, but you know that going in…and you could taste the quality. We left full! The tacos were underwhelming compared to everything else, but still good

COUNT ON IT

By doug100worth |

FAVORITE ASIAN RESTAURANT in New York and have been going since Nobu came to NY 25+ years ago downtown. We've never had a bad meal and service is great. Last night was no different

Nobu 57

By Bernie_C815 |

It’s no surprise that Nobu gets 5 stat ratings. Great ambiance, extensive menu, great customer service, and fine cuisine. There is a price to pay for all that, but it’s quite an experience!

Spectacular

By Carla Torres Pinar |

My partner and I are in love with the Nobu chain. This Nobu in particular is one of the best we have been to. Super centric, right next to central park, amazing cocktails and really great ambience. We had a menu which was outstanding.

All about the money

By Rosalind K |

Nobu. A name with such expectations and a well-publicized story. There are 47 Nobu’s around the world and 47 too many. Perhaps my expectations were too high. But with names like Mr. De Niro, Meir Teper, Drew Nieporent associated with “Chef” Nobu, the business side has overtaken, engulfed and replaced the food side. And it clearly is a business. The "incredible" food experience has been diluted to a level of sad mediocrity. When the “Chef” is no longer involved at an intimate level ( and how can he be if there are 47 Nobu’s around the world) it is understandable. We went to the one on 57th Street in NYC. Prices were extraordinary and the food, average. Should I mention the décor and the toilets? Better not.

Friday night dinner

By Jane131262 |

The restaurant was packed thank god we had a reservation as they were turning people away. Service was very efficient and friendly. The food delivered on all levels probably ordered too much! My particular favourite was the crispy rice with spicy tuna delicious! It’s not cheap approx $350 including drinks and tip.

A must do experience

By Ellen M |

Nobu starts with excellent service, then adds the most amazing flavors on artistic presentations.Nobu makes you feel liklle you deserve the best and they deliver.

Worth a visit

By worldtraveler952015 |

Delicious sushi and more, great service, nice ambience. Trendy place too. I recommend highly. We had a large family reunion here and they treated us well and were very attentive.

Awful

By Marsha S |

So disappointed! Food was tasteless, expensive and sparse. Buyer be aware! Just because it has a reputation doesn’t mean it’s worth the time, and (especially) the money!

Family with teens

By KirklandKW |

Had Dinner here with my family (2 adults, 2 teens age 15 and 17). My son (age 15) wanted to eat here after seeing a youtube video of KSI eating at Nobu las vegas. I did a lot of research before going. I was prepared to do the tasting menu but followed the advice of other reviewers to listen to the servers. Our server did not push the omasake (also, the signature omakase didn't include the wagyu beef which we had to try according to my son and KSI) so I just asked her what to order, and ordered the dishes she recommended. All the dishes were shared. 1. Yellowtale with Jalapenos (1.5x order) 2. New style sashimi 3. salmon tartar with crispy rice 4. rock shrimp tempura 5. cod with miso we added on the - wagyu beef (3oz) - house roll - soft shell crab roll in the end we were not stuffed. but ok. Ordering a la carte costed less than the omakase. The rolls were just ok, and the salmon tartar with crispy rice wasn't anyone's favorite. So I would replace those 3 dishes. The other dishes were very good especially the yellowtail and new style sashimi. The kids didn't like any of the desserts so we just went to the corner store and had some ice cream. In the end it was a very nice dinner with the family.

Kudos to Nobu 57

By Salley J |

I visit Nobu 57 yearly every time I come to NYC for meetings. The sushi is always fantastic and they make a really good salad. Recently on Valentine’s Day three friends and I walked in hoping to eat at the sushi bar before a play. Of course, the place was packed and the hostess was not very encouraging about our ability to get seating in time for the play. She and a nearby waitress saw our obvious disappointment as we told her we always eat at Nobu every year. We were about to leave when she signaled us to wait. She said they would find something. We happily ate our wonderful sushi salad in a space for four by the bar. We were so happy and appreciative. I will always go back but next time will reserve a spot...

Excellent

By Liz C |

The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. The place had a very cool and chill vibe. We will definitely be going back.

NOT going back

By Kshf_C |

Return experience was much less than expectations. Had lunch with wife - it felt like a gourmet fast food joint: From the food, the service, the ambiance, the cleanliness. Our server was too keen on the tip rather than the service. After our recent trip to Japan, the food felt like not fusion, but confusion. In short: NOT GOING BACK.

Excellent food and experience.

By Bruce F |

Everything was good. Service was fast but attentive and he gave us good advice. All of the food was excellent. It’s a huge room with a lot of diners. It’s not a quiet restaurant. I counted 10 cooks behind the counter. But they need them from a crowd that size. Many interesting dishes on the menu. I will definitely go back.

Fabulous food experience

By nanitha |

Colette our very knowledgeable waitress asked us a few key questions and then chose a wonderful array of items. She made the evening very enjoyable. We tried so many amazing pieces, including cocktails. A very memorable 23rd Anniversay!

Very good

By Ruinabeiro |

Good experience. The restaurant is very beautiful and has a friendly staff. Whoever served us helped us choose our dishes and we were right to accept the recommendations as everything was incredible. It's worth a visit if you like Japanese food.

Overpriced, unprofessional staff and seedy atmosphere.

By dvitale2015 |

After we finished our overpriced convenience store quality sushi and tacos we ordered desert to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We let the waiter know we were there to celebrate a birthday and ordered desert. The waiter wrote happy birthday on the plate and added a candle. As we attempted to sing happy birthday, the other waiter bringing the other deserts spoke over us to describe our deserts and reached across the table several times. After looking at my recording, it’s pretty ignorant and completely unacceptable. A place like this isn’t supposed to be this mediocre. On top of the horrible service, the clientele was pretty seedy. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to go, this ain’t it!

Once great Nobu is now ordinary.

By Jason Whitholm |

Have been going to Nobu for more 30 years, originally in Tribeca. It was always great. Of late, however, it is become ordinary. This past week we ate again at Nobu 57. Although the service and setting are great, the food was terrible. The sushi tasted like what you might order at a supermarket. The cod, always a great staple, was so bad we sent it back. I’ve eaten at Nobu from London to Malibu but I’m sad to say, that I’m done. It literally tasted like we were at a TGIF. I’ve felt this way in recent years, but our recent experience confirmed this. Specifically, the sushi was terrible and tasteless, the popcorn shrimp was ok, and the cod was inedible. Feel bad writing this after all these years but there are many more wonderful Japanese/sushi options in New York City that there is no need to go to Nobu, especially at these exorbitant prices. Unless it improves, I’m done. Thanks for the memories.

Rude Hostess

By Beat L |

The unpleasant and rude reception of the hostess was just unbelievable!!! It made me go elsewhere . I have been going to Nobu for the last 10 years and never had such an unpleasant reception

Nice for casual night to hangout with friends or couples

By Talal A |

This spot is great for a casual night food and service was great. the atmosphere is amazing. Make sure you have your reservation.

Meh...

By Sondra W |

I have been to several Nobu, which are usually amazing, but this was just average at best - which is rough as the price is way more than average. No one wanted to wait on you. The fish was fishy, and the hot items were cold. I am hopeful it was just a bad night. This is also not a New York experience what so ever. Very disappointed.

Good sushi!

By dustythoughts |

This place was perfect for delicious sushi in a refined, non-stuffy environment. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, the black cod with miso, the eggplant miso, the broccoli tempura, and the salmon and avocado roll - everything was great! It was very busy when we dined here, so our waiter was friendly but a bit distracted, but we didn't blame him for that.

Nobu Fifty Seven

By jessm531 |

Okay this restaurant is not overrated!!! I love sushi and this was some of the best sushi that I have ever had! Also our waiter was very nice and helpful. Love the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. Lychee martini was amazing!

Too much ado for nothing

By Tom P |

Very expensive food without anything special to justify. Not bad, actually ok good but really no effort to justify the extra cost. Can get exactly the same fare are the corner Asian for a fraction of the hefty price charged by anonymity. Overly overrated. Will not return

Our last meal in NYC had to be special.

By Scott C |

Our last meal in NYC had to be special. We figured we’d have sushi and went to the place my pal Koji was the head chef for multiple locations. The final dish was spectacular - live octopus followed by green tea ice cream. Service was good. The lighting was a bit low for my preference as I like to see my food more than romantic setting. They did not have a non alcoholic beer but the alternative tea was nice.

Very Happy

By Critto 66 |

Living up to it’s reputation, we were not disappointed. Great food, great service. Without doubt the best meal we had in New York. Thanks Nobu 👌

Excellent food and service

Excellent food and service Yellowtail jalapeño espectacular , cappuccino desert delicious, fried rice with tuna

Disappointing

By Annalous |

Disappointing. Food ok but not the best for the price. Booth seating gives a cheap feel and constantly being bumped from the person behind.

We discovered terrific Japanese food

By Ilona R |

The place is nice, more modern looking than usual sushi places. We have several Japanese sushi restaurants in our area, but this restaurant has a different selection. Thus, we discovered terrific Japanese food. The portion was adequate, and the taste was delicious. Their green tea was fantastic to go along with your meal. The ambiance was just fine. Everything, just everything here, was perfect. The service was impeccable. Our server, Sergii, was so lovely and polite. Sergii answered all our questions and was very pleasant. We asked for extra sauce, and he was pleased to accommodate our requests. We were happy to be here and very much appreciate the service and atmosphere of this place.

Over hyped and over priced.

By Rebecca S |

The food is not exceptional. I was very disappointed. I had heard raving reviews but I suspect it was highly over hyped and over priced. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for truly good food. It is not because it’s expensive that it it is good. Here it clearly wasn’t.

Quality Nobu

By jwmb75 |

One thing you can always guarantee from Nobu is very high quality food and that is what you get here. A great venue with great and attentive staff. The sushi is melt in your mouth especially the crispy rice and tuna tartare. The rock shrimp tempura again a delight. The beef tobanyaki phenomenal. I could go on. The venue hasn’t changed in years but also doesn’t need to as the 2 floor venue has a fun bar downstairs with a fine dining upstairs. One I will continue to come back to.

Overall outstanding experience

By HO1964 |

Outstanding top quality food, very creative recipes, incredible combination of flavors. Service was excellent, very courteous and professional. Wonderful ambiance, decoration and music.

What a comedown

By Trepidation1 |

After years enjoying, this place hit rock bottom. Went here to celebrate a birthday with family, and we were seated in a claustrophobic outdoor cubicle on the street with no ventilation, dirty plastic windows, cheap wooden chairs and a sticky table. The service felt like we were in a seaside hotdog stand rather than a pricy high-end restaurant. Waiters were brusque and service slapdash- albeit fast. The food was just average and honestly, not worth the price. With so many great sushi restaurants in NY, if you are not there to enjoy the decor, skip the outdoor "seating" and go to a better place.

We love Nobu

By Tjasa C |

We love Nobu, specially their signature dishes. In Nobu 57th street, waiters are kind, they explain different food and they make some suggestions...prices are ok, not too high for NY

A Not-To-Be Missed Restaurant

By Ken L |

This is a wonderful restaurant. The decor and ambiance are warm and welcoming. Service is outstanding and the food is great. From the minute that we were seated, we were approached about drinks, which arrived quickly and were well made. There is a raw bar and we ordered a selection of oysters as appetizers along with Tarama salad spread, which was scrumptious. For entrees the Chilean Sea Bass was perfectly cooked and served in a red sauce. The tuna was served rare and delightfully seasoned. The wine list has some wonderful choices both in the bottle or by the glass. Finishing up with baklava, served with vanilla ice cream, which was perfectly matched and not cloyingly sweet. This was flawless from start to finish. It is well worth experiencing.

An experience at Nobu

By Toufedali |

A very nice setting but I am disappointed because we do everything so that you can leave and vacate the table quickly. They brought us all our dishes at the same time. Plus the tacos were tiny and bland. Very salty and very fatty fried shrimp. I don't have great memories of it, especially since the bill was steep.

Nobu 57 is GREAT!

Waiter was very attentive and made recommendations that our entire family enjoyed. The quality and flavors of the food were incredible and we left completely satisfied

Very good food

We very much liked the food at Nobu. Would recommend to order multiple small dishes before you order the main. Deserts are OK, not spectacular like the appetizers and main.

We always try to dine at Nobu 57 when visiting NYC. Food is always excellent with fantastic service. Sushi was very fresh and tasty. We dined here twice and ordered a takeout third time during this trip to NYC. Food quality is very consistent and always what we expect - best Sushi in town. Thank you!

Fabulous

Fabulous experience as part of my birthday celebrations. Service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious with the stand out star being the crispy rice with spicy tuna. All perfectly complimented with a bottle of Lusco Albariño.

Excellent ! Not only the food, but also the service. I had made a special request for my partner’s birthday when I booked and they took it into account. Do try the jalapeno makis and I would recommend sitting by the counter :)

Outstanding Japanese Meal and Service

By ppour |

We have dined at Nobu around the US many times. This was our fourth visit to Nobu on 57th, and they did not disappoint! We had outstanding, attentive, and knowledgeable service from Tahir. He was fantastic at guiding us to menu items that were new to us. He made sure we ordered the right amount of food for our party (without over ordering). He was also very attentive and checked on us often, even bringing us a special sauce he felt worked better for a particular dish. He was also very mindful of our ticket time for the Broadway show we were seeing after dinner. The food was amazing as always! Incredibly fresh and innovative; while maintaining a traditional Japanese flavor pallet, Every dish melted in our mouths, was served quick, but not too fast! We wish we lived closer so we could eat there more often! Some people complain about the price…yes it is a bit expensive, but the quality of the food is absolutely top notch! We lived in Japan and have traveled back and forth for 20 years - we would likely pay about the same price for similar food in a small Japanese restaurant, so I do not feel it is out of line for what we ordered. There were 4 of us (our 2 teenagers, my husband and myself) and we all had an amazing meal!

Best in town

Excellent quality of fish and raw materials. The service is no different: you are followed with care and attention throughout the dinner, with a detailed but quick explanation of the dish and its origins. Simple, elegant and of extreme quality! Highly recommended
