Don’t even think about it

By noah |

This place is only getting two stars because of the quality of food. The wait staff is slow and careless. The management is arrogant and rude. Take their time and don’t care about customer service. I’ve been multiple times and each time my dood took at least and hour for a couple d sushi rolls at 25-50 percent capacity. The waitress I had last time was extremely rude and had the biggest attitude I’ve ever encountered and for no reason. They treat you like you’re not good enough to walk in and eat among them. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, have been there. And I’ve eaten a hundreds of places across 26 countries. Don’t come here.

Mediocre at best

By jluspo |

This place is way overrated. It is very expensive but you don't get the quality and taste you expect from restaurants charging this much. The food is mediocre at best. I will not go back.

Grand Opening Night: Grand Slam

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

My wife & dined for the first dinner service at 6p on Friday, June 1st and it was a wonderful experience. While I was initially met with disappointment in that they were not offering their Omakase, my wife & I simply decided to concoct our own Omakase in what turned out to be a 3-hour dinner. The service was A+, the ambiance was chic and lively, the food was marvelous, and the overall experience worthwhile. My first Nobu dinner service was in the Bahamas a few months back and I can honestly say that I love our Nobu here in Houston much better; the restaurant itself pays better homage to a traditional sushi dojo that’s been brushed over with contemporary flare. I’m eager to see the success this restaurant will have.

Palate blowing “ experience.

Go with what you know

By ttrosc2 |

We’ve eaten at 5 different NOBU restaurants we always get the rock shrimp, cod and a couple rolls. This time we got the tasing menu and were disappointed. Next time we go with what we know.

Expensive

By easytraveler |

This is a luxury restaurant, very expensive but with high quality food. Is pretty dark but comfortable. I liked better the Nobu Las Vegas....this restaurant is ok.

Good food service missing

By Crazyfoodlover |

Was so excited that we got a booking here, even though it was 9pm! When we arrived we ordered drinks which came at different times and one was wrong. We then got menus and started to order. Our server was very pushy trying to up sell, it felt like shopping for a car rather than an amazing restaurant. We ordered the hamachi which was fantastic, could have eaten that all day. Followed by wasabi octopus which was awesome- this was my favorite. Then we had the fried shrimp, the images on other reviews looked great but this was disappointing too much mayonnaise taste.then a range or roles which were all great, the soft shell crap was yummy. To finish we had a cooked white fish very delicious tasting desert like. Overall the food was good, not sure I would not go back in a hurry. One time our plate was taken before we had finished, which is one of my pet annoyances. When paying this much I did expect to have quality service

PAY WITH CASH NOT CREDT CARD

By SB |

PAY CASH, DON'T USE YOUR CREDIT CARD!! 1. I was in Houston on business and to treat my team, we came to Nobu. The hostess was neither polite nor inviting, informed us there are no tables available, and dismissed us. (Think Pretty Woman in the scene when she enters the shop to buy new clothes). The hostess and her non-memborable colleague didn't even offer the bar as an alternative dining option. This was a first, since usually Nobu staff are top notch and having dined at almost every Nobu from London to Malibu, I just assumed it's a staffing issue per the current climate, and we just seated ourselves at a bar table near the bar. I wasn't going to let her ruin our dinner. 2. We had an amazing meal, per usual at Nobu.. and left our server over a 20% tip because she was excellent. We were in and out fast, so we spent a decent amount for a quick bite. Everyone was happy. Why the 1 star? I only used my card here during my entire trip.. and the next day my credit card started being illegally charged all over Houston. I had to cancel my credit card, and now will have to cancel the multitude of Autopays that it's connected to. Such a hassle! Management, please background check your staff. This meal wasn't worth me now having to contact 50,60,100 or however many autopay businesses I'm connected to, in order to cancel the credit card and connect my new credit card. PS. I tried calling Nobu several times to discuss this prior to posting this review, but no one answers the phone.

Best sushi

By RMS |

Honestly, one of the best sushi’s I’ve ever tried. The place looked packed but still managed to serve us and bring us our food just in time. Would definitely come back!

You pay for the name

By BKK2525 |

I went in for dinner on a Sunday and the atmosphere was good. The restaurant was not too busy. The food was good but overpriced for what it is. You can get good Japanese food at other mid level Japanese restaurant. We were really let down by the the 2 ladies maitre d at the desk, not friendly at all and gave out the impressions that they really didn't want us there nor do they wanted to be there. Our waitress was really attentive and friendly tho which was good because otherwise we would've just walked out after that first impression.

4 Star Sushi / 3 Star Value

By Richard S |

I had heard of this restaurant in other locations in the US. When Nobu came to Houston, I had avoided going because of the reputation of rather steep pricing. I’m not opposed to spending extravagantly on a dining experience. I’ve been known to spend stupid money in restaurants like Le Taillevent, Daniel, Enoteca Pinchiorri, Le Comptoir Robuchon, etc. However, although the post-covid world has left the whole restaurant industry reeling and inflation has skyrocketed the price of seafood, Nobu set a new bar for overpricing their dining experience. Their staff was extremely knowledgeable about the Menu du jour, but very mechanical in their presentation. We had a 7-top and chose the Feed-Me option and was served family style. The only alcohol we consumed were two bottles of Sake. We were served 8 courses consisting of very, very thin slices of wonderful fish, mollusk, crustaceans and wagu beef accompanied by outstanding sauces and marinades. The presentation on the plates were worthy of a Michelin Star. The staff’s level of training and enthusiasm was not. In my opinion (especially when hosting a dinner), $282.00 per head for ultra small, artistic portions is not a good value unless it is supported by a stellar performance by the staff. I gave this restaurant 4 stars on the quality of food and the kitchen’s imagination. This was as advertised in any word of mouth promotion that I’ve heard. Unfortunately, so was the reputation for being overpriced.

Unbelievable experience

By Becky H |

This place will become a regular for me! The Waygu tataki was the most amazing thing I have ever eaten. The manager, Jamie, was gracious and kind and our waitress Kacey was wonderful ! The Saki was delicious, I honestly can’t find anything to critique about this place. Simply perfection!

Nobu ranks as one of the very best for food and experience!

By Kankead8 |

Decor was exquisite! The experience was perfect for friends who haven’t seen each other in years! Yellowtail jalapeño was perfect. The seared salmon with Karashi Su Miso was wonderfully fresh. Everyone enjoyed the fabulous Black Cod Miso as well! The desserts were outstanding...I loved the pistachio ice cream dish! The Edamame was so very good as well! We had the spicy version with hazelnuts!

Grand opening heat

By Trinh V |

Ahh! My husband surprised me with dinner plans to Nobu!! I was so excited!! Grand opening weekend was almost as absolute success but what gave Nobu 4/5 stars is that the restaurant was very humid. My husband and I were sweating because it was very warm. The restaurant was not correctly ventilated and they still had some kinks they had to fix. Can you imagine how hot it would be in there during lunch hours? Holy heat. It's Texas. Please get this fixed Nobu. It's a new restaurant so we completely understood that it still had some flaws, plus it was opening weekend so granted everything wasn't going to be perfect. What was also disappointing is that Nobu is known all over the world and only one location serves foie gras? Which is the Honolulu location. I was pretty upset about this but what can you do. Maybe in the future they can add this to their menu. The moment you enter you walk to the right and there is a hostess stand where you give them your name and they walk you to your table. The moment you sit down they shout out in Japanese I assume that you're here? It was cool but I couldn't understand what they said. The ambiance is romantic and dark. The restaurant is very spacious and they have an outside patio. Parking: We parked valet at Saks and it is $11 right next to Fig and Olive. Service (5/5): Stephanie was truly amazing! She greeted us and made our experience rememberable. She did start off by apologizing if certain items on the menu were going to take longer than expected because the kitchen/bar were still working out some kinks. She was attentive and she had worked at the Miami location then moved to Houston. Drinks: -Lychee Martini (5/5): OMG this has to be the best Lychee Martini I have ever tasted! I thought Uptown's crushed ice lychee was amazing but NOBU's is orgasmic! Their lychee isn't Clear like most lychee martinis. Magically delicious! Food: The chef recommends you start off with cold appetizers first so that's what we did and then we went on a frenzy and ordered a bunch of items! -Yellowtail Sashimi Jalapeño (5/5): You would think from the picture it looks like every typical yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño but I kid you not it was the best yellowtail sashimi jalapeño we both have ever had! The chef recommends you to eat it with the cilantro in the middle. The cilantro adds a nice zesty taste and it truly makes this dish unique. -Oyster Shooter (3.5/5): I thought this shooter would go down a lot smoother but it was very tangy. -Lobster Ceviche on Butter lettuce (4/5): Mm they recommended you eat this appetizer as a taco! Yum! Explosion of flavors! -Rock Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce (4/5): You can either get this appetizer with butter ponzu or creamy spicy and my husband and I chose creamy spicy! Great decision on my part because it was delicious. -A5 Wagyu Tataki (5/5): Amazing! Highly recommend this dish. -A5 Wagyu Smoking Pot (5/5): Can I give this fish a 10? My god, it was so tasteful. It's pretty smoky so careful when it comes out. Best thing we had on the menu. -Boneless Prime Ribeye Yuzu Truffle Butter, Crispy Onions (4.5/5): Delicious! -Lobster Sushi Maki (1/5): Meh this was not our favorite at all. I would never order this again. The outer layer of it made it taste funny. We didn't even finish it. -Negi Toro Sushi Maki (3/5): It was ok, not my fav Toro. We both realized that maybe Nobu isn't the best for sushi but other than that everything else was perfect. Absolutely blessed that I got to experience the grand opening with my husband! Can't wait to come back. Hopefully when we come back we get to have Stephanie again and the air conditioning issue is resolved!

Cool restaurant nice food

First visit

By Robert M |

Went here shortly after it opened and had a good experience. Restaurant was trendy and loud. It was hard to have a conversation with table companions. Ordered sushi and sashimi which was all of the highest quality and the salmon melted in your mouth. Ordered the baby artichoke salad which was one of the best bites of food all night. Also had the Black Miso Cod which was exceptional and we had a ribeye with anticucho which was served medium rare and was extremely good. The server was great at recommending items since a person in our party had gluten allergies. The meal was expensive, but was extremely good and of the highest quality. Sometimes we forgot the time effort that goes into preparing a meal like this.

Go to Uchi instead

By acobble |

Two caveats; the food and drinks at Nobu Houston are great, and it is still new so some of my complaints might be just early kinks they will work out over time. That being said, this place costs a fortune (twice as much as the competition) and the service and overall experience is just not on par with the price point. You're better off going to Uchi for a better experience and half the bill. A few specifics: Our waiter either couldn't or wouldn't tell us what was on the tasting menus. When we asked, his response was, "some sashimi, and things like that..." Uh, ok. He steered us to a waiter led course selection, which we were Ok with, but then he seemed to ignore what we wanted. He literally wouldn't take our order for some cut rolls at first. When we asked for them, he said he had to go and put the rest of the order in to get some plates on the table. An hour later, he suggested another cold dish, and we had to twist his arm to let us order the rolls. He wouldn't answer any questions about them. Clearly, he was aiming at the most expensive dishes on the menu and those were fairly reasonably priced. Ridiculous... Oh, and for 4 of us they only gave us 2 menus. We're friends, we can share, but these are small printed out menus. Print more of them! The drinks were great, but a bit slow. No major complaint there. The other guy and I had a variety of cocktails and my wife and her friend ordered wine. They were going to get a bottle, but then saw the bottle was somehow an extra $40 compared to ordering 4 individual glasses. That was a new one for us. Finally, what really killed it for me and earned the 2-stars, was at the end when we were paying the bill. The waiter came up and said their credit card machine was having trouble and we needed to verbally tell him what percentage we wanted to tip. This is the waiter who was serving us all night, telling us we had to verbally tell him his tip. Not a manager, and there was no offer to write it down or some other more elegant solution. First, it's silly that a place this expensive doesn't have a working credit card machine (assuming that excuse was true and not a way to gin up higher tips), and second, it was incredibly awkward and sort of crazy to me they can't come up with a better solution than you telling your waiter to his face what you'll tip him. Again, at this price, that is awkwardness you shouldn't have to deal with. So, overall, while we really enjoyed each item we ordered, but the overall experience was hampered by the oddness of the service and the difficulty getting what we wanted. I could overlook it at Red Lobster, but not at Nobu. If they want to charge twice what Uchi does, then the service had better be spectacular, and it's nowhere near there right now.

Exceptional Sushi and Asian Fusion

By davemh333 |

Great addition to the city. Our dinner was spectacular. Each course was inventive, with vivid, balanced flavors. The freshness practically was bursting forth. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. One of the most expensive in the city, but worth it.

Outstanding Dinner - Too Expensive

By Keith C |

The cuisine was outstanding. We enjoyed several of the classic cold and hot dishes. The Star was the seared Wagu flambe. It just melted in the mouth like butter. Service was great. My issue was that even for higher end cuisine, this was just way too expensive. I was the dinner guest, and I felt really guilty about ordering dishes. The host had been there one time before, and it was his choice so no regrets, but my conscience just can not justify the price.

The name says it all

Unforgettable

By Ronaldo Martins |

The sophisticated Nobu of Houston makes his fame. Stylish setting, different menu from traditional Japanese restaurants, spectacular food and huge wine chart. Prices are high, but experience is worth every penny.

Not like the others.... Needs much improvement!

By Lentara71 |

I am quite familiar with this restaurant concept. I have visited locations in Dallas, TX; Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas; and Malibu, CA. I was disappointed. Waited years for Nobu to come to Houston. This location had been open six weeks before my visit. The taste of the Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi was spot on. Tried three maki rolls. The only notable was the House Special Roll. All three rolls came wrapped in daikon, and fell apart when you picked them up. No need for daikon, really. If the rolls were done right, the seaweed wrap is all you need. Atmosphere was too quiet. There was upbeat music playing in the background, but not enough to notice. Nobu's are usually dressy casual, but had it's share of shorts and tees from mall-goers. Service was alright. Nothing spectacular. This place is pricey, pricey, pricey. Know that. The experience is NOT worth the price at this time. I have no doubt this location with last, since Nobu restaurants have strong presence. The standards need to be raised in order to live up to it's sister restaurants. I will not be back for some time. Perhaps I will give it another try in 12 months.

Great Food

By Denise C |

We were staying at the Westin Galleria so Nobu was super convenient! We were a little apprehensive about dining at Nobu in light of several comments indicating that it was overpriced compared to other options. However, I assumed those comments might have been in relation to the sushi, so decided to give it a try anyway. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent! For appetizers we had the tiradito (flounder) and crispy rice with spicy tuna. Then for main courses, the rib eye and black cod miso. We shared dessert- cremeux with chocolate hazelnut and raspberry. All absolutely delicious especially the black cod and the crispy rice. Our waiter was slightly impersonal but very efficient, and I felt the price was in line with other fine dining restaurants. I did not really like the seating for couples- the tables in a line so you are right beside the couple next to you, and everyone can hear everyone else's conversations. However, this seems to be a trend in many restaurants. I suppose we could have asked to be seated on the patio which seemed to have just individual tables. However, was a very good dining experience. Loved how the hostess called out and the chefs answered each time a guest arrived. I think they were saying welcome.

Not Worth It

By pschaeffer |

My wife went to Nobu a few days ago. After she came home, she shared her observations with me. Overall, she said that it was top notch only in price. Everything else was sub-par. The food wasn't great. The service wasn't great. The location wasn't great. Houston was some truly stellar Asian restaurants and some truly outstanding Sushi places. This one can be skipped.

Total disappointment.

By islandtraveler89 |

My husband and I are huge sushi fans and have been looking forward to the opportunity to try the Houston location of nobu. What a waste of time and money. There are many more sushi restaurants in Houston with far better atmospheres, food and definitely prices. After having 5 pieces of salty sashimi and each of us having one glass of overpriced wine our bill was $85. Ridiculous. We left and went to finish our sushi dinner at Blue Fish sushi which we knew to be good and a far better value. The prices are astronomical at nobu and totally not worth it. The sashimi we had was tiny in portion size and the soy sauce offered on the table was ridiculously salty. The atmosphere was cold and sparse and although it was empty when we went (7 pm Saturday night ?!) the seating was crowded and much of it was a community bench with tables and chairs crammed together. I would strongly recommend checking out the many good sushi restaurants in Houston instead of this one. We are frequent guests of Masa Sushi in Friendswood which is the best sushi we have ever had and totally puts nobu to shame.

Expensive and unlike the others

By TheDude1974 |

I dropped by for a quick dinner, and was underwhelmed. Being on my own I sat at the bar but had a look around the restaurant. The restaurant part is just a large open area, no pony walls, plants, dividers or much of anything, really just kind of boring. Background music was not loud or uplifting enough to get any vibe going. The bar was cool enough, but nothing special. I had one mixed drink, rock shrimp with spicy ponzu (a Nobu classic) and wagyu gyoza. The rock shrimp was on point, but not enough sauce on it. The wagyu gyoza was tasty as well, I’ve had it before and it was also on point. Service was solid, but not great... when Nobu first started they would take your plate away at every new offering, but not anymore... Two small plates and a drink cost $73USD... that’s way too much for Houston, even if it’s the Galleria area. There’s a lot of really good restaurants within a 10 minute drive in any direction... and none of them are that expensive. Nobu needs to revisit their price point, especially as the novelty of the name wears off.

Not bad, just not memorable for the price

By LANewt |

We have eaten sushi all over Houston from fusion, to traditional, to mom and pop, to upscale. There are places we would revisit. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Pros: Wait staff was great, they were knowledgeable about dietary restrictions, and the sashimi was delicious. Cons: the sashimi was overpriced. While the maki were tasty, they were extremely repetitive. We ordered three and stopped because of this. The green tea was watery. The matcha was weak. The eggplant miso - the eggplant was well prepared, but the taste profile was disappointing. The dessert bento - the flourless cake was fluffy but tasteless. We usually order a large variety of sushi, but we stopped because nothing inspired us on the menu. Again, quality of ingredients and the staff were great. But we left feeling full, but less than satisfied, which we never do on our sushi outings. For the price tag, we don't see ourselves going back.

Dinner at Nobu

Excellent place with amazing food and great service, highly recommended. The miso black cod and dumplings were superb.

Interesting, but not a 5

By David C |

3 of us stopped for lunch at opening, on a Saturday late morning. Nice decor, walking up the stairs into an open dining area with light coming in from outside, you think - this is going to be great. And some of it was: Surprisingly, fish & chips - excellent. For me, the litmus test, Toro Tuna - I can get a sinewy free cut in Clear Lake, for less. Spicy Seafood Soup - very good. Japanese Fresh Water Eel - excellent. Tuna Tartare with Cavier - very good. The food was always brought out fresh & hit by one of the staff. Our primary server seemed a little uninspired - but she did run down the stairs to bring me a doggy bag that I had forgotten.

Whow

By AUSAGUY007 |

All I can say is yaaaaaa. This place sucks lol its an LA wanna be... The salad dressing sucks... Aka sushi is cheaper and better lol

Noisy, overpriced, with poor service

By Gabriel H |

This somewhat presumptuous restaurant is terribly noisy. The background music is very monotonous and at least twice as loud as it should be. Very hard to conduct a civilized conversation. The food is excellent, but the service is amazingly slow. We were there when the place was about two-thirds empty and we still waited 30 to 45 minutes between courses. Our main dish ended up being delivered to another table, so an hour later we were told it had to be prepared again and it would be some additional time. We arrived around 6:45: we had an order of sushi/sashimi, then we ordered some more. For the main dish, our fish was still not delivered at 9:30, when we decided to leave. For a place that charges $6 to $20 per piece of sushi, that is unforgivable. We will never set foot in this place again.

Sushi pit stop AWESOME

Very nice high-end Japanese restaurant, nice appetizer, cool cocktails and very good service, if you have 45 minutes and want a drink this is the place.

It was cool untill

It's was good untill I ordered the......................................................... Salad lol. Not much dressing or flavor also ordered the sushi was OK but not the best

Extremely expensive for a sub-par service

By elbrujo_ve |

We have been at the Nobu and Nobu Next Door in New York so we are familiar with the exorbitant prices at the Nobu, however you take the hit because the food is excellent, different, as well as the experience. Well, not in Nobu Houston, where the service is just horrible. Our second time here and same problem repeats. They are use to serve the orders on how they want it, not how the customer wants it. Appetizers were coming in waves, so this is perfect if you are sharing, but if not, every guest eats alone. Same with the Entrees. We were four and between the first entree and the last one, we counted 40 minutes difference... What??? When we complained, yes, "very sorry" but that's it. Unacceptable for such a ultra expensive and exclusive place like this. Our last time at Nobu Houston.

Great Japanese food well served

By Robert d |

Visited Nobu for a dinner with colleagues and chose the Omakase signature tasting menu to get a good taste of the menu. The dishes keep coming and the next one is better than the last one. This choice offers a great way to taste the best of Nobu.

Never Again.

By BigBoy |

I’m being kind by giving a 2 rather than 1 star as it was a truly awful experience. The food was more than lackluster and generally unacceptable for the price point. The appetizers tasted like they were out from under a heat lamp for an hour, the entrees were uninspired and bland, and the nigiri was something that you’d pick up in a market fridge. All for truly outrageous prices, which I’d gladly pay for a desirable experience. The service was also poor, both the interactions with staff and theit speed/performance. I don’t understand the hype but I believe this place is only able to charge such a premium because of that hype. I’ll never return and I hope others don’t visit as well. Please visit Kata Robata, MF, and Roka Akor if looking for a premium experience that continuously exceeds expectations. Visit those, have an Omakase, and enjoy your dinner - something that won’t be said of an experience at Nobu.

Fancy I say!

By Wetravel4u614 |

My wife has always wanted to visit a Nobu restaurant and we were in Houston so it was only right. I was a bit stressed about the dress code as I am not a huge fan of dressing up, but I made it work. Our waitress was amazing. I need to do a better job of name dropping great waiters/waitresses. She was very informative, humorous, and helpful as it relates to our dinner decisions. As my photos show, we had a bit of everything! Great dishes! We both love sushi so that was necessary. Everything was prepared as described and plated nicely. I couldn't get enough so I felt like we just kept ordering different things to try (make sure you have your coins together because it will cost ya). We both also have a couple drinks. FYI they make a mean Old Fashioned. If I had any complaints they would be some of the patrons TOTALLY dressed down after I stressed over what to wear (petty but true). I would also advise you to look at the menu before visiting as there is not a ton of versatility as this is more of a specialized restaurant. Great atmosphere for conversation, a romantic night out, quality food and drink. Excellent choice by my wife. Enjoy and happy travels!

EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE AND EXPENSIVE!

By KitKat |

Oh, did I mention EXPENSIVE. I’m no cheapo! I like fine dining and I will spend the money for good food. I also recognize Japanese food in general is on the pricey side. However, this was like Alain Dugasse prices for maybe a step above Kroger quality sushi. I was very disappointed with the food and portions. My prediction is that Nobu will not make it in Houston. They will be out of business once the curious crowds disappear. It’s too bad because I was really looking forward to having another Japanese restaurant in Houston.😦

Typical Nobu - high quality

By TWASS66 |

We had a nice dinner and the quality was as expected. Nobu offers a lot of dishes that you find in all the Nobu restaurants, so we were not "surprised" to find our favourit dishes. Quality of service was a bit fast and without the personal touch you expect at this level.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent food!

By Ricardo D |

Restaurant was beautifully decorated, the hostess said a phrase, and the rest of the staff would repeat! I found this really fun! The food was scrumptious, and the drinks too!

great

By RedKO_13 |

location is great, right at the Galleria. my first time to Nobu and wow! the food was amazing. fresh and prepared well. the spicy edamame was addicting and the rolls were so great! for dessert they had a pineapple sorbet and oh wow it was good. not the place to go if you’re on a limited budget, but great service, ambiance and food!

Excellent Food and Service

By glennmathews3 |

We went with reservations on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not too crowded and we were sat right away. The service was excellent with management checking on us regularly. The food was at the highest level and we tried a number of dishes. The signature yellowtail miso was the highlight of the meal.

Restraunt

Would've been 5 Stars, IF the AC worked!!

By Kelley B |

Would've been 5 stars except it was SO HOT in there, I asked a couple of NOBU employees what was going on with the AC, they didnt know. The wait staff was fantastic, our waiter gave us great recommendations! The food is expensive, but fantastic. Hey NOBU management, fix the AC!! If I am going to spend $400 for dinner, I dont want to sweat while eating. Thank you, we'll be back.

Wow

By Agostino C |

I just have one word: wow. Expansive, but great. Try oyster trio, new sashimi and nobu maki. All along with Pinot Grigio (sorry I am Italian lol). Grandi!

Great food, but expected better ambiance

By franco g |

The food was amazing, the place is well located but still I expected something fancier or with better ambiance, we wanted to get drinks after a long day at the mall but it ended quickly. Yet the food was delicious

As wonderful as expected!!

By N S |

First time here. Been to the one in Caesars Palace a couple of times before. Great to see the quality is just as consistent here as in Vegas. Came with colleagues and we shared: Shishito peppers, yellowtail jalapeño, butter lettuce salad, black cod miso, tiger shrimp with spicy garlic and vegetable tempura. Everything was delicious, visually appealing and the butter lettuce salad was an awesome surprise by how delicious it was as we had no idea it came with black truffles - who would have thought truffles went with salad?!?! Loved it!

Disappointing

By Federico R |

Walked in into the restaurant and it was very hot and humid, after several minutes we told the waitress that it felt like A/C was off. She assured us it was not- dismissed us-but would relate to manager. Five to 10 minutes later manager came by and told us breaker had tripped and the AC was now working again. We were amazed that management hadn’t noticed, as it was very uncomfortable for 15-20 min + For an upscale restaurant it is hard to accept or comprehend. We ordered 2 cold dishes one hot dish and some rolls. The yellowtail was small but ok, the octopus was tough, -undercooked-. The shrimp was soft -overcooked-. And the yellowtaill scallion rolls were average, with poor presentation. Food was 3/10. Very disappointed. The waiter was nice, but the service was bad, slow and inattentive. (She would disappear for a good Length of time, had to ask for water refills and had to ask twice to get a beer) We have been lucky to eat in many good restaurants in the US and abroad and I can easily say this experience is ranks as the worst value proposition by far( what you get for what you pay). We wanted to talk to the manager as we left but couldn’t see him and felt like wouldn’t even care. If you want mediocre setting, where management doesn’t realize A/C is off, mediocre food and mediocre service for top dollar, this is your place. For me, is a 2 out of 10.

Great experience

By Nikkihem |

I had the Black Cod Mimosa and it was excellent. No complaints. Service was wonderful and the presentation of food was great. The quality of the food was amazing. I also had the Edamame. Those were great as well. Kind of hard to find if you don't park valet and you park in the garage. The server was nice and helpful too. The hostess and management was so kind.

Nobu is incredibly overrated and ridiculously expensive

By DonLoverich |

For some time I have been hearing mixed reviews about Nobu, a very high end Japanese restaurant chain with roots in Vegas and NY. Some friends of our were visiting Houston and they really wanted todat at Nobu. Here is my take. The atmosphere is lovely and the table service was good. However, in terms of value, it is absurdly overpriced. For example, bottles of wine are marked up 4.5 times what you would purchase it overthe counter. I always think 3 times is fair. The food is good but as a traveler to Japan it is not great in comparison to how expensive it is. If you go there, be prepared to take out a small business loan and judging that only half the tables were seated, I would observe even people with business accounts believe, as I do, that you can get better quality as much lower price at dozen medium to high end places in Houston offering this cuisine. For me Nobu is a NoGo.

Sensational food, albeit expensive, but please fix the malodour

I've visited Nobu several times in London and New York and have always enjoyed the experience. The food is amazing, the service incredible and the ambience wonderful. The Houston Nobu has all of this, not least the gulp when the bill arrives. It's an expensive place to eat, but you get what you pay for. The only bum note was the whiff of fish on arrival. The restaurant, of course, has cleanliness of the highest quality, but the slight reek of sushi made it feel as if the carpet needed cleaning. I'll be back, of course, be it here, or anywhere else on the globe, but because of that, I'd rate London, New York and even Vegas ahead of the Houston one. The location inside an average mall doesn't help either. Even so, this is a positive review, I had an amazing night otherwise.

Extraordinary 54th anniversary dinner

By Jacques L |

My wife eats only crude stuff, and myself only cooked items. We both tremendously enjoyed our food, specially the king crab tempura, the small cubes of fried rice. My wife loved her yellowtail jalapeño, all with some cold pinot grigio, ending with strawberry semifredo. The whole experience was made very special with the extremely good service of our waiter ALEXA, very professional, very knowledgeable about the menu.

Exquisite

Great atmosphere, fun upscale area/people. All three things we tried were wonderful. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Will DEF be back!

Overpriced, underwhelming

By Peter N |

We went here for our wedding anniversary dinner. Nobu has worldwide cachet but this is the second that we have been to, in quick succession, that left us distinctly underwhelmed. The first was Nobu Malibu. Only the lobster cerviche here was outstanding from the many dishes we tried. The seared scallops were passable. The rest, including the sushi we tried, were average at best. The ambience is also a bit flat despite the restaurant being full. The interior decor is cheap, evoking a campus canteen rather than a high-priced restaurant. At least, make the restaurant look expensive for those prices. The staff are nice but can't make up for the unimpressive interior and cuisine. The American Nobus seem a far cry from the quite posh one on London Park Lane which we've been to as well.

Bugs flying in our food the entire evening

By David A |

I have been enjoying Naboo for many years, in Houston, Las Vegas and Dallas. While the sushi was fantastic, what was unforgivable was the bug problem. We told our waitress 30min into the meal and she simply said, “I’m sorry”. That was the last time we saw her until the very end when she brought the check. The sushi chefs could see there was a problem and tried to overcompensate with conversation. The bill was paid and a healthy tip was left and as we left the sushi bar and waited for our bags from the coat check, the manager of the restaurant asked our our $1,000+ meal was and I told the manager that while the seafood was fantastic, the bugs needed to be taken care of. I then showed him the videos of the bugs flying in and on my food and the numerous dead ones that I was able to kill. His response, “ so sorry about that” Nothing else…no explanation…no empathy In Houston, with our amazing restaurant scene where there are 20 other sushi restaurants at the same quality and price point, this was a major let down. I don’t know what I was looking for but I know I wasn’t expected to be treated in such a dismissive manner. As a result of the response to the reaction, or lack thereof, to the numerous videos and photos I shared, I can only think of one way to let others have a better level of expectation when visiting this establishment. Shame on you Nobu - shame on you!

Maybe it was just too soon?

I had heard that Nobu was opening up in Houston. I had visited several of the other locations including Miami, Vegas, and of course the original in Tribeca as well as other locations. I have to say, in Houston it’s tough competition nowadays with the other fantastic sushi places in town. We had a rather early reservation and the restaurant was already quite crowded. I have to say that obviously it’s a bit of a people watching scene which makes it interesting for people watching. However, they chose to sit us in the secluded booth at the back end of the restaurant and then tried to move us near the water station. I asked the waitress to move us to a better location which actually was quite surprising. I’m not sure how well-trained the hostesses were. In short, the food was very good. But I have to say that was nothing memorable about the sushi that I can recall. The one advantage to this restaurant is they have many hot dishes as well as appetizers available to people that may not be that interested in standard sushi, sashimi, and maki. Overall, it is above average. I have to admit I didn’t see a single sushi chef that looked Japanese behind the counter. I will likely return. I want them to do well. I’m just glad to see sushi as a regular option for Houstonians. But for true sushi lovers, the original Nobu in TriBeCa was incredible and Nippon (truly Japanese), Uchi, and my fave, MF Sushi are tough HOUSTON competitors.

Awesome

I had lunch with family at Nobu and very impressed with food and service. This place has some wonderful Japanese whiskey. Desert was epic.

Delicious Japanese Gastronomy 🍱🍣😋

The menu is varied and offers a wide selection of sushi, sashimi and traditional dishes prepared with fresh and excellent quality ingredients. Service is attentive, friendly and fast, which perfectly complements the culinary experience. It is an ideal place both for a special meal and to enjoy with family or friends. Also its unbeatable location as it is located in the mall Galleries Houston. I definitely recommend it 💯

Poor Service and Out of Many Things

By Sabrina S |

We visited Nobu Houston with friends. First of all, when we ordered cocktails, they had run out of olives for a dirty martini. When we were ordering, they "were out of" mushroom salad, which was on the menu and one other appetizer. When one of us ordered another martini, they were "out of" martini glasses! Is this a fine restaurant that had prepared for dinera coming? We go to Nobu in NYC often but have never experienced anything like this. Also, the dishes came out one at a time with long intervals in between. We were starving. Also, for example, for main dishes, we had ordered cod and sea bass with vegetables. The vegetables came out, but the fish thirty minutes later! The sushi came out even later than that. One of us asked for club soda, and that took thirty minutes also. When they were taking the dishes from the table, we asked them to please wipe the table. The waiter never came back to do so, nor the two other waiters we asked. Finally, when we asked a third time, someone wiped the table after our meal. Although the food is consistent with Nobu in other locations, this restaurant has serious problems and service issues.

Happy Hour Delight

By A3572SHrobertb |

Very nice looking restaurant. 2 huge sushi bars. Went for happy hour. Happy hour menu is fairly limited. Sushi was good. Want to go back for dinner to select from the entire menu. Happy hour prices were reasonable. We went before 6pm after work on a Thursday. Crowds were just beginning to show up which made our visit more laid back without the noise etc. We will definitely go again.

Not as Good as Other Nobus But still Excellent

By davemh333 |

The sushi here is at another level. I’ve been told that almost every sushi restaurant in Houston gets their fish from the same supplier. Nobu must be the exception; the quality is amazing. Preparation is at the same level. While no longer as inventive as it seemed a decade ago, with so many newer competitors, the dishes are still both interesting and delicious. Service was also superb.
