Best pizza in America!

By travels4jen |

Recently enjoyed North Beach Pizza on Grant Street during a weekend trip to San Francisco. We ordered a pepperoni on thin crust....that's AMORE!! I travel to Italy frequently and have had the best pizza on the planet there. I must say, this pizza at North Beach was the closest to authentic Italian pizza as we've ever had in the U.S.!! The crust was thin and chewy, the sauce was flavorable, and the ingredients were fresh. Prices are great too. Highly recommend!!

Possibly the best pizza I've ever had

By Nick H |

Off the beaten track and family run for over 30 years - well worth seeking out. The pizzas were large and tasty - definitely recommended.

Good value, good food

By TravelJennkie |

This was a great find with very good food. Many of the restaurants in SF are very expensive as expected but this was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely go back. The Pizza Margherita was excellent.

Good pizza

By travelingnonrev |

We had the Coit Tower medium pizza and it was very good tasting and a salad to split. Although the waiter never came back to our table to ask us how everything was. We could have used pepper on our salad but to no avail. It was a warm night in San Francisco and this place didn't have air conditioning and it was really stuffy and warm eating inside. They have no sidewalk seating like many other restaurants in the area. 8/15/15

PIZZA!!!

By stoofdawg |

Good value, very nice (award winning) Pizza. We had the Pepperoni and Sausage a slice each and it was large enough to fill us and very tasty. Would recommend this for something quick if you are heading to or have been to Coit Tower.

Returned after 19 years!

By suzy252016 |

For nineteen years the pizza eaten at this restaurant has been one of my husband's all time favourite meals. On our return to San Fran it was a top priority. The restaurant has moved across the road but the pizza is still good (although not as large as we remember). We also remember having to chalk your name on a board and queue. No need for this now as the restaurant was far from full. Worth a visit.

Great pizza classic flavors

By B-P |

I've been coming to North Beach Pizza for 28 years and it's consistently great. Strange it's so quiet since they moved across the street but great pizza at a reasonable price. Pasta dishes are also a good value.

Great Crust

By Thsnitch |

A very fine pizza with perfectly blistered crust in a chariming place. Full of families having lunch with their kids just before the Thanskgiving holiday. We had the North Beach special with good sausage and nice peppers. One drawback = no coffee. I would have loved a double espresso after lunch but all that was availble was hot tea. Folks - buy a coffee machine

Best Average Pizza in SF

By senorq |

Many reviews on the internet called Noth Beach Pizza the best in San Francisco...when it's really just average. Not bad pizza, but definitely not the best. The prices are fair, the service is ok. I don't think you'll have a bad experience here, but you won't have the most mind blowing pizza either.

Yum!

By mdgipsy |

Stopped in for a quick slice and a drink as walking from Coit Tower to our hotel. Fast and friendly, enjoyed sitting at the table tops facing out the windows to watch the people walk by.

Still the best pizza in S.F.

By t14174 |

We have been going to North Beach Pizza for years when we visit San Francisco. I still miss the original cramped spot across the street from it's current location. Big bonus this time; they now have BEER ON TAP!!!! The bottles were getting old. The pizza is as good today as it was 20 years ago. Limited selection on the pastas compared to their neighbors, but still tasty. When the place down the street says 1 hour wait, walk the block and enjoy a great pizza here.

Better Than You Might Think

By Yog-Sothoth |

Stopped in late at night on the way home for a slice - not so good. Went and picked up some pies during the Super Bowl - much better. As you know, I have recused myself from the great "best pizza in San Francisco" debate, because the best pizza is in New York - still, this is not a bad choice. Doughy crust and super salty. Tony's is better for this kind of thing, but as you may also know, you won't be eating there unless you have a much greater tolerance for waiting in line to eat than your author.

Good food

By Stuart O |

This is a nice place. We really enjoyed our visit, so much so we had dinner delivered to our hotel later that week.

Great Oven Baked Pizza!

By The World is My Oyster |

Went there for lunch with a group of people today and was not disappointed. The service was extremely fast and efficient. We ordered four different types of pizza; cheese, peperoni, Hawaiian and vegetarian. All of them equally good. The atmosphere and decor was great right in the heart of little Italy. Great place for lunch or dinner.

2nd Best Pizza in San Fransisco!!

By CuriousTraveller5678 |

I thought it would just be an ordinary pizza joint out of the many Italian pizza restaurants in this area of the city until I actually tasted the defining difference. You can tell from the ingredients they used which are fresh. Nothing is frozen! The smallest pizza costs around $18 but can easily fill 2 startling travelers at 8 slices per order :) The servers and chefs are Italian. Apparently, they won an award last year so you will defensively get your money's worth. This joint competes with Tony's Pizza for the reputation but if you're with the 2nd best, then by all means - indulge!

Best pizza ever

By bwbwbwbw |

Nothing compares to the quality of their pizza. The fresh dough, tasty sauce, plentiful cheese and amazing variety of toppings (my fave being sausage & artichoke hearts) are absolutely to die for always. Not cheap but way better than any other pizzeria ever. Dine in, take out or free delivery. This place rules!

Great service

By Anikabella |

We stopped here on our way to the coit tower and it did not disappoint. We had a lasagna and fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. Both were good - and i appreciated the side of veggies that came with the lasagna. The server was very attentive and friendly.

Great Food

By TLKotter |

One of the best pizzas I have recently had. Ordered it to be delivered to our hotel room and it arrived still hot. Great pizza at a good price!

As good as the day they opened

By Pat P |

We used to live down the block when the original North Beach pizza opened and indulged way too often. It was great to return and find that it's as good as ever in the new location across the street. Maybe even better. The crust is sturdy but not too bready and the toppings are plentiful. Definitely a classic.

Deliteful Surprise!

By CSPark |

My husband and daughter have been in SF for several days and wanted a good pizza. After looking over several places and the reviews we chose North Beach Pizza. When we walked up there were only 2 customers. Normally that is a bad sign. I remembered all the good reviews so we took a chance. The gentleman came immediately to help us and asked if we had any questions. He was very friendly. We ordered pizza and cheese sticks. Everything was amazing. We were glad we took the chance. Turns out the NBA game keeps people home and they order pizza to be delivered. Although there was a huge TV there so we had the pizza and game too. Would definitely go back if we are ever in the area. Oh and the beer was cold!!!

Simple and well

By Miguel Quintanilla |

I went with my wife and one year old daughter, the waiters were attentive and patient with her, although the restaurant was half empty, so suddenly they disappeared a long time. The food is good, although I think there may be better places in Little Italy.

Great pizza

By always_Itchy_feet27 |

Don't bother with the touristy crowd down the road. Top class pizza and pasta here, without the crowds.

Not What it Used to Be!

By GarryOwenBrain |

Returned to North Beach Pizza (in its new location) after 15 years and was sorely disappointed. North Beach Pizza used to serve mind blowingly good food, but now it's just average. Far from the. best pizza around, and the homemade lasagna was not very good at all. Won't go out of my way to return here on my next trip to the city.

Make a stop!

By DjAnderson |

This was an amazing place to stop! Food was excellent.. order enough for snacks later. Service was prompt and efficient. Again food was amazing!

NY Good!

By blukreuz |

We always make a point to get pizza from here when visiting the bay area. Reminds me of good NY pizza back in the day. Wish this was in Southern California!

Best pizza ever

By DVPA |

We tried North Beach pizza for lunch and had the most amazing pizzas ever. They have awards for their pizza on the walls and I can see why. They were superb, full of fillings and excellent flavour. We had the Coit Tower pizza and wow, it's the best I have eaten in a long time. As it's only a few minutes from the tower, what could be better. I was so impressed I went and thanked the chef.

More than just terrific pizza, and fast service with a smile -- always!

By HMKanthem |

I'm a pizza fanatic and I visit North Beach at least once a month though a live an hour drive away. A wide assortment of toppings and fresh ingredients make this deep dish pizza superior. But the menu also includes equally delicious pasta. And if the food doesn't have you smiling, the friendly service will.

More than just pizza!

By HKG2301 |

We stumbled across this place by chance. Looking for a late Italian lunch in North Beach (the Little Italy of SF), we found most places closed between 3 & 5 PM. So we were happy to find NBP open, if empty! The place looks the part, but is actually Greek owned, and staffed by Chinese - very cosmopolitan, but this is San Francisco! Regardless, the kitchen staff seemed authentic (you can view the kitchens from the restaurant) and the food was good and reasonably priced: a calamari starter, chunky minestrone soup, garlic bread, garden salad, tortellini carbonara, lasagne (a bit dry this - lots of pasta & cheese, but not enough meat sauce), topped off with a middle-range bottle of Chianti came to $62. The usual US-sized generous portions, too. The place was filling as we left at 5 PM.

Great thin crust pizza

By zicanman |

Have been here twice the last couple of years visiting from utah and we love the thin crust pies and the pasta. Location is just up from the main down town Italy area so it's not crazy busy but the food is great and worth the trip up the hill. We will definitely be back

MY FAVORITE PIZZA

By Corinne L |

My ultimate favorite pizza in the whole world! It was over 20yrs ago and it still is today!! Love the tasty tomato base, fresh ingredients and the mozzarella cheese is the best I’ve ever tasted!! — also ordered The three mushroom ravioli , it was absolutely divine!! Tomato sauce very thick, rich and tasty, ravioli pillows full of mushrooms and perfectly cooked al dente. So delicious definitely coming back here!! ❤️

Delivery

By JulM297 |

We ordered from this restaurant twice while at a hotel. After realizing we could not get into any restaurant without reservations (unless willing to wait well over an hour), we called for delivery. We had pizza one night, it was fantastic. The next time we ordered hamburgers, fries, lasagna and salad. Everything was so good. Highly recommended!

Classic and generous, the place is an icon in North beach and beyond!

By Heather Dawson Schrock |

We have been going here for 30 years and it never disappoints. Great for family, friends or just yourself! In the urban neighborhood, and lots of stores too enjoy after you food.

Great crust!

By Matt4321 |

We ordered a north beach large with all the toppings to be delivered to our hotel with our concierges recommendation. The delivery was prompt and arrived hot. The pizza was very good and the crust was excellent. Had a unique taste that I would do over again. The only way I could describe the taste is if you mixed papa johns, Pizza Hut and dominoes.

Awesome pizza, great pasta

By Kelly D |

My two sons and I decided to get North Beach Pizza after a tour of Alcatraz. It is a quick drive from the Embarcadero and we found street parking right in front. It was late in the afternoon, so their were only a few people in the restaurant. We were seated promptly and our order was taken quickly. We had the North Beach Special Pizza and Spaghetti. Everything was great.

Great pizza and service

By DivaNic1975 |

We called in to North Beach early on a Saturday evening, and it did not disappoint. I had the gluten free pizza, and my husband the normal pizza. Both delicious. Good selection of wine/beer/drinks.

Great meatball pizza!

By George H |

My girlfriend and stopped in for lunch and loved it! Shared a great Caesar salad and had a terrific meatball pizza! Highly recommend!

Great restaurant in nice neighborhood!

By Dick-Terri |

What a find! The restaurant was very nice and clean, good atmosphere. We dined for lunch one day and dinner another. We all had pizza and it was great. My son said it was the best he has had. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Simply the best!

By Mark B |

With 2 teens in tow, we tried pizza restaurants throughout California on our road trip and this was without doubt, THE best! The restaurant doesn't look much from the outside, tucked away in Little Italy..sorry, North Beach. Inside is fairly basic, but when 4 of you can fill up on the most delicious pizza, who cares. The teens shared a medium pizza, my wife and I a small following the waitresses' recommendation as she hates to see waste!. Both were gorgeous. Huge, thick deep pan base with loads of toppings. Absolutely delicious and incredible value. Unanimously voted best pizza on our trip.

Absolutely the Best Pizza Experience

By robertshea |

This is one of those places that got good at one thing and took it to the level of mastery. I lived in San Francisco in the mid-90's, and used to order from here frequently. On a recent return trip, we made two visits within one week, and loved it each time. We had the Margarita pizza with added feta, and both times it was exquisite. I don't know about their other dishes, and frankly with the huge selection of Italian food in the area, I would go elsewhere, but for pizza, this is THE PLACE!

Real Pizza!

By Sheila F |

Let me start off by stating that I'm a big NY pizza snob. I am especially picky about the sauce. Most places just dont know how to make a good, spicy sauce North Beach pizza is the reall thing! The sauce and the cheese are perfection. If you don't want pizza, they also make great hero sandwiches. This is an inexpensive and great place to eat.

OPEN

By Linda035 |

I was in Little Italy and like others who reviewed this restaurant..I stumbled upon it searching for somewhere to eat because most places were closed. I had pizza, thin crust delicious and some wine. I was very happy.

Good pizza handy to Fisherman’s Wharf

By wellycaro |

Very nice pizza late at night. We had the Hawaiian and it was just what we needed. Service was pretty good. It was a bit on the pricey side, though.

Good Italiaqn Eats

By Ed K |

My wife and I stopped here for a slice of pizza and some spaghetti. Service was excellent and the pizza very good. The spaghetti was not as spicy as we are used to but still good.

Tasty pizza

By Michelle O |

There are two sides to this restaurant (which we found out after the fact) - the eat-in side and and pizza-by-the-slice side. We sat in the eat-in side and were treated to very good pizza. It was quite a walk up several hills to get there (near Coit Tower) but worth the climb.

BEST pizza!

By Katie M |

Loved this place sooo much we went three times in our trip! The pizza was the best I’ve ever had and service was excellent 😊

Decent and reasonably priced

By jaben713 |

We stopped here for lunch on a walk from Coit Tower to Lombard Street. Found the prices to be quite reasonable for SF (about $25). We shared a small pizza - 3 toppings, basic but good - and found it was more than enough to fill us up.

excellent food

By Moose1422 |

We just happened by North Beach while out walking. We liked that it was off the beaten path so a little quieter. The lasagna was fantastic. Portions were well sized. Wines were reasonably priced.

Awesome, as always!

By MrsKBatley_WestYorks |

Our trips to SF always have to include at least one trip to North Beach Pizza. It's 3 years since our last visit but I'm pleased to say it's as good as ever!

Great Pizza n food

By NGF |

Well.. To be honest, Its my first time ever when I tried a veggie pizza, I used to have pizza w any kind of meat. So I was just a bit hesitant to try something different with my buddy. I went there just to have an adventure trying a totally new thing for me. For my surprise, it came out delicious, hot and I loved their pizza. We also got an extra slice (yes they sell by the slice as NYC.- so cool) which I really loved because I had a Cable Car slice, simply amazing creamy garlic sauce instead of tomato. So deliciussss. Over all, It was a good experience and I'd recommend to everyone to try NBP at least once if you don't live in the city as me. Thanks all front liners who helped us providing a nice meal with a safe place to trust and enjoy it.

First stop in San Francisco -that is to dine out.

By Let's make Astoria's restaurants better! |

We were told about this pizzeria when we arrived last May. North Beach Pizzeria has a wonderful old-world charm and delicious pies stuffed with cheese and mushrooms to boot. A solid choice if you are in this part of town

Hit the spot

By Randy F |

I get a bad cold on day 3 of our 7 day vacation. To sick to go to dinner. Ordered 2 pies for the family. The kids was perfect, they loved it. Mine was a tad burnt on the crust, but still tasty. I do recommend this place.

Fast Delivery of Great Pizza

By J R |

Arrived late at night and needed something delivered to the hotel for dinner. The front desk recommended North Beach Pizza. We order a simple pepperoni pizza, toasted ravioli since we're from St Louis, and a meatball sub. The order at rivaled in around a half hour hot and delicious. The ravioli was a little different than what we're used to. Good but what we would consider grilled cheese. I would recommend this place to anyone. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Best Pizza Anywhere

By Reginald H |

We discovered North Beach Pizza when we lived in San Francisco in late 1980's. Every year we go back to the city in October for our annual pilgrimages to Golden Gate Park for "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass" Concert. The first thing we do is order a "North Beach Pizza" It's absolutely the best in the City.

The best pizza.......Period

By TJP1967 |

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge. Not knowing any better we tried it. I am here to tell you, that on the sourdough base, with tangy tomato sauce and the best toppings I have ever had, this is the best pizza I have ever had, anywhere in the world. Try it...you will be back...

YUM! Best PIZZA EVER!

By GraceMountain |

This menu was in our room after a long day of travelling for Valentine's Weekend, all the restaurants were busy and no longer taking reservations, so we ordered in and the food was excellent! It was delivered fast and hot and the taste was extraordinary! Would highly recommend!

was good what happened

By Dominic C |

every time in San Fran had to have a minimum of two pizza's owners were awesome, food was terrific. The best Pizza in the world. I think they sold it. It tasted different. Not enough to travel around the world to have anymore sorry

What a find!

By KathC22 |

Had an alternative restaurant guide book and this was listed in it. When we arrived after walking for most of the day, my husband I were disappointed. It doesn't look anything from the outside. the pizza is absolutely stunning tho! The best we have ever had and half the price of the main stream/tourist pizza restaurants. Basic decor, basic service as most of it is home delivery for the North Beach area (its very busy, we counted at least 4 drivers whilst the time we were there), I was loathed to give it this review as we will be back but hope it doesn't change with more custom!

To the Moon and back!

By MARK H |

Server named Nello was great and extremely helpful. Visited on MLK Day. Pizza by the slice was great. I ate 1/2 a meatball sandwich and 1/2 serving of seafood spaghetti with marinara sauce. The bread on sandwich tasted excellent. Loved the spaghetti. Would travel half way to the moon and back. Will recommend as a must stop place to eat.

Still good after 20 years!

By Chris C |

I've been going to get pizza at this pizzeria on and off for over 20 years and still feel that they serve a great pie! I also like the fact that you can get pizza by the slice and that the price remains reasonable. Great for take-out or sit in while visiting SF.

Great Pizza and Pasta

By FuninMexico50 |

Stayed at Fisherman's Wharf and ordered North Beach for hotel Delivery. All I can say is "Delicious" Pasta and Pizza delivered timely. I highly recommend after a long day.

The best Pizza ever

By Martin O |

Delicious pizza, better then in Italy and many other places I have visited. I tasted only 2 pieces of it if had a walk through Telegraph Hill streets accidentally.

Great Pizza in a nice and simple place

By Porterricks |

Slightly off the beaten track, this simply decorated restaurant on the corner of Grant and Union. The service is somewhat unstructured, but is friendly and eager to please the guests as good as possible. The ordered pizza with 3 toppings and a thin crust was excellent. The prices are moderate.

Good pizza, fresh ingredients

By MV_Trotamundos |

North each is a known for Italian restaurant and good Pizza. North Beach Pizza continues to be a great place. They use fresh ingredients and the dough its great too. It is not a big place but they are the right place for a slice or a whole pizza. Enjoy

Best pizza

By Linda L |

We visit North Beach Pizza every time we go to San Francisco. The pizza is incredible --- our favorite place to find pizza. The atmosphere is more utiliitarian and staff are efficient but not all that friendly. in past years, the staff were more friendly and made the visit a great time....now we just go for the pizza.

Awesome Local Pizza

By Michael M |

This place has a nice environment but best of all they have some awesome local pizza that you cant get anywhere else. The staff was really nice and friendly

The food was delicious

By sgomez121486 |

My wife and I enjoyed our pizza tremendously and our friends also loved their pizza. The service was okay, the waiter was sweet but we had to ask him for a few things but he was sweet.

Very good and got in on a Saturday night!

By Bailey2004 |

We stumbled upon this place after trying to get in on a few others with out a reservation...SURPRISE! We got one of the last tables. Very busy, typical pizza joint. Service was quick, food was even quicker and they were turning tables efficiently. Pizza was good, a little crusty for me but good. My salad was plentiful and tasty. We walked out of there for under $50 for the three of us.

Delighted meal, don't pass it up!

By Corina D |

We had chicken Alfredo, Buffalo wings, and a half pizza of Cart pizza substitute the garlic for pesto and the other half coy tower... everything was so delish! We were the only people in the restaurant and it was a beautiful meal. Down the way there is very busy pizzerias in front of the church but we are glad we didn't have to wait to be seated and food did not disappoint! I do recommend. The only tip I have... I regret finding parking wayyy up top on Montgomery Street. A steep walk is not pleasant after a full stomach meal. Find parking that won't hurt your knees or walk there.

Better than expected

By Kathryn M |

We had a small pizza and a chicken parm sub. Both were excellent. They delivered free to our hotel. Would recommend if you are looking for some delivery on a down day.

Exellent pizza

By Tobi H |

North Beach is fantastic. The service was wonderful and the pizza was delicious - a lot of food for the price. When I'm back in San Fran, I will definitely come back.

San Francisco Favorite

By Tommy L |

Had a delicious pizza last night with my buddy, a regular at this restaurant. Had the chicken wings and a garlic clam pizza. Both were exceptional. Highly recommended.

From near Buffalo, NY. NOT EVEN CLOSE BY COMPARISON!!!

By Becky C |

YUCK!!! I'm so sorry, California. Your pizza is terrible. We had no idea how hungry we would be for actual pizza until we left California and returned home. It was like we had to go through detox. You're wings were no more than frozen TYSON nuggets we put in our oven and would serve a four year old. They were soft, mushy, bone hardly attached and more like a fast food nugget. Pizza is cardboard, lack of any flavor (basil, oregano, garlic not tasted at all). After over an hour wait and a call to the pizzeria to find out where it was, delivery and pizza/wings were $32. Only ate due to severe hunger. We were told that's how Cali pizza is and to expect it everywhere. Edible but not good.

Nice food and reasonably priced

By tonywilson77 |

was stumbling round little italy looking for somewhere to eat with our young son and struggled to find a tabel anywhere (guess you need to book escpecially on a Friday night!). anyway..decided to go off the beaten track and find somewhere and this was the first place we found To be fair it looks like its mainly a takeway restaurant but our tired legs needed a table so in we went. nice friendly service and laid back inside. food was fair and good portions of pasta. not fantastic but for price in san fran couldnt moan. would recommend for a quick bite but if a nice sit down meal i'd book a table elsewhere :-)

Disgusting!

By Englishguy85 |

Just had this pizza and chicken wings delivered to my hotel but had one bite of each had to throw the rest out - it was disgusting! And cost 33$ what a rip off! Do not recommend!

best pizza ever

By darryl b |

I've got to eat pizza from all around the country and this is by far the best pizza ever. If you ever go to SF by all means get a pizza from here you won't be disappointed!!

Don't know what happened

By Joe F |

This place used to be the bomb for awesome pizza. Something has happen? It still good, but there are many good pizza places nearby. Too bad, like I said, used to be the bomb.

Bread! Bread! Bread!

By Lisa L |

This place is good (from what I remember!). It's in a great location and I took advantage of pre-dinner drink spots being so close. The one thing I definitely remember is good food, and the bread basket just wouldn't stop coming!

Pizza heaven

By kate m |

Spotted this little street from the 39 bus and hunted it out in the evening and soooo glad we did. Compared to the "main street" this is good value. We ordered a medium pizza at $25 but they let you "half and half" it. So split between Coit Tower (Sausage, Salami, Pepperoni) and a Golden Gate (Chicken, Pesto, Garlic, Onions). Absolutely gorgeous. Lots of local eating here which is always a good sign.

Great pizza in SF

By 1jjarecki |

Had the pleasure of eating at NBP when my client took me there for lunch. It was excellent and very popular with the locals...give it a try!

YUM!!!!

By hisons |

Walked in here after long walk up to & around Coit Tower and we were so hungry we just bought a few slices of pizza to eat right then. WOW!!! SO SO GOOD!! The sausage was the best part...we had pepperoni w/sausage and a pesto sausage piece. We ended up buying all kinds of other slices too, it was just so good. Definitely coming here every time we pass through the city!!!!!

Delivered a Perfect Pie!

By Stewart E |

On our last night in SF, we were tired of the weekend crowds and just wanted to crash in our room with a pizza. The desk staff at Best Western Plus - The Tuscan recommended North Beach Pizza. We followed the recomendation and 45 minutes later had a "di Carne di Maiale" pie delivered to our door. It was the perfect balance of meats, cheese and crust...a great local pizza!

Decent Pizza

By wetcoastrabbit |

Tried to get in to Don Pisto on a saturday night without a reservation, Doh! Not wanting to wait 90 minutes we walked up the street to North Beach Pizza. Food was excellent, the group we were in had 4 different pizzas and a pasta. All were excellent and prices were reasonable. Worth the visit if you are in the area.

Pizza Pie...That's Amore!

By robin w |

This SF classic pizza restaurant is our favorite! Delicious crust, a hint of flavor you can't quite put your finger on in the crust! Service is quick and efficient, warm pies are placed right on the table and our boys loved the ravioli! We hadn't been there in awhile and they had moved from one side of the street to the other to update their store. Yummy pizza! When you're done, it's a short "uphill" walk to Coit Tower or a 15 min. walk to Fisherman's Wharf. This pizza restaurant is right in North Beach so if you don't feel like leaving the area, you can check out all of the little shops along the way. Mangia!

Absolute Best Pizza Ever!

By THA |

I enjoyed NB Pizza when I lived in the city in the early 1990s. I was afraid that time would have gilded my recollection, but, if anything, it has only gotten better. Ordered in room service while staying at the BW Tuscan by Fisherman's Wharf and it was EXCELLENT. They don't skimp on any of the ingredients...sufficient cheese, sauce, and toppings. The crust is perfect...not too crisp and not doughy. Salads are large and packed to the gills. It's on the pricier side and, if you are ordering delivery, ensure that you read the receipt because there is an automatic gratuity included plus the delivery charge. As a disclaimer, I try and avoid pizza, but this is worth it for a cheat day! ROCK SOLID!

Great pizza

By JustAnotherTraveler1 |

Our group had a veggie pizza, and pesto pizza, and a pizza with meat. All were delicious with great crust. (I need to remember to always ask for half the mozzarella cheese; they are generous with the cheese ... too much so for my desire.) The service was good, but only one server for the dining area for lunch Saturday; would have been better to have had two servers.

Good North Beach Pizza

By Ed K |

My wife and I got some single slices from this place for lunch. The pizza was very good and the crust was excellent. I would highly recommend trying this place out if in the north Beach area. Service was vey good.

Pizza...anytime!

By Sherry M |

We had strolled Chinatown and moved on to the North Beach area...and voila...a pizza place. It was mid afternoon when we stopped in, not too busy so it was a break from the hustle and bustle. Super great pizza and a cold beer. Exactly what was needed.

Lunch

By Larry W |

These patrol officers wanted pizza for lunch. I suggested North Beach Pizza. The crust was crunchy and the ingredients was flavorful but the middle of the pizza was watery. Some of you may or may not like it. Otherwise, a great large pizza to fill us up.

Average Italian

By Nederlander in AZ |

If you are looking for average Italian (pizza and pasta) that is what you will get. Probably a common "fall-back" for folks not willing to wait to eat at Tony's down the street.

Meh

By tahoegal09 |

I used to go to this place years ago. First of all, the pizza is fine - not great, not terrible. The Caesar Salad I ordered was DRENCHED in dressing. Just gross. I went alone with my young son. They had no kids menu and charged me $11 for a plate of plain buttered spaghetti. What a rip off. I asked is they would cut me a break, being that it was maybe .50¢ worth of ingredients and they flat out refused. I will NEVER go back there. So one plain, small pizza, one plate of spaghetti, small salad and the least expensive wine and the bill was $44. Never again.

Great Food

By Jersey_Taurus |

We stumbled upon this place while looking for someplace to eat on a rainy afternoon. My dad had pizza with sausage and pepperoni and enjoyed it. My sister had chicken parm and enjoyed that, and I have pasta bolognese and enjoyed it as well. It was a good lunch that took us out of the rain; the sun even came out while we were there.

Great place. Skip the others.

By R20007 |

Stopped for pizza after a day of site seeing. Awesome food - pasta, salad, and pizza. We skipped the long and annoying waits at Tony's and Sotto Mare and came here instead. Very good meal and fast service.

Great pizza

We went here for a pizza after visiting the North Beach area of San Fran, wanting a good genuine pizza. We weren't disappointed. We had a small Coit Tower between 2 of us and it was ample. It's a nice restaurant and the service was fast and friendly. The pizza was really good, really fresh dough and full of flavour. Highly recommend going here.

Great Meal, Recommended by a Local

On a streetcar I had the opportunity to talk to a local about different San Fran locations not necessarily on the tourist radar. He strongly recommended North Beach Pizza. Good call. The Coit Tower pizza is all the rage on Yelp, and we were not disappointed. The crust was extraordinary, and the large salad was more than our whole table could get around. Good service and no crowds on a Thursday in peak dinner time.

Very good pizza, very cheesy. Nice thick crust and plenty of toppings. Great value. Staff friendly. Take-out available as well.

Great pizza, great service

Had been to this restaurant in the late 80's and was glad to see it was still there! Enjoyed great pizza/salad and great service, even with every table full. Good times!

Very good

Very friendly welcome. We shared a very nice and excellent pizza at 4 , to finish with a chocolate/strawberry pizza that I recommend.

Sparse toppings

I ordered a pizza and salad and got what seemed like dough and spinach. The toppings on both were very sparse.

Best pizza I have had in SF

This is really good pizza, after having so many so, so pizzas, this is the place for pizza. Ordered the North Beach Special, which has pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, mushrooms, onions and black olives. It was amazing and the crust was thin crust, with just the perfect color and taste. Not one bit soggy and perfect to the last bite. Also when I called they said it would be 1 hour, 35 minutes later, I had hot pizza in my hands. I love places the under promise and over deliver. I will be back :)

Great pizza! Great dough!

The dough was excellent. The sauce was really good. The service was prompt. Loved it very much! Although it was weird to see all Spanish-speaking staff at an Italian joint :-)

Great Pizza

This place was right around the corner from our condo we rented for the week. Yummy pizza, fresh toppings and decent price. We ate here 3 times during our week stay just didn't wanna spend a ton of money of restaurants each night so this was a nice alternative since you can also get pizza by the slice.

Yumm!

We went here for a group outing for a work dinner. The service was good. The pizza was delicious! They also had great appetizers. Cheesy garlic bread and calamari. I would definitely go back.

You can’t go wrong with North Beach Pizza. The fried raviolis are the bomb!! We always make it a point to have some pizza at North Beach Pizza.

Worst Pizza EVER!

By OregonDelight |

Seriously, how can one not make good pizza?? Simply put, North Beach can NOT! Sauce out of a can, old meat and molding cheese?? Yes, that is correct - MOLD on the cheese. Overpriced and unfriendly service makes this establishment a place which I will never frequent again. Sorry North Beach, but you rate on the lowest of lows for most all categories in my book!

Some of the Best in the West

Although I'm from NY originally, North Beach Pizza is very delicious for the pizza you can find out West. Fresh made dough and great ingredients, even though it's a thicker crust than NY.
