Wanted to find somewhere for a drink after shopping etc and came across this bar just 40 yards from the centre of Time Square. Whilst the outside makes it look small, inside it has a good-sized bar and seating area. The staff are really attentive and the front of house will do everything possible to get you a seat quickly. Also serve food with good options. Little gem.

We stopped in for dinner & drinks. Service was great! Staff checked on us regularly. Food & drinks were good. The Shepard's Pie is amazing! Everyone enjoyed their dinner.

I am walking around the TIMES SQUARE AREA and needed to have lunch before returning to my hotel. The location is great and the service good and respectful while being timely. Being a pub it has a good selection of brew both on tap as well as canned. My lunch today is one of the daily specials which is filet of flounder stuffed with crabmeat, rice and mixed vegetables. The flounder is well prepared and the vegetables are freshly prepared. For visiting tourists in NYC in the TIMES SQUARE AREA here is a good choice for a reasonable meal. Just a couple tables down a family with a child and also as I was being seated a couple with a little tike were enjoying their lunch,

Went for drinks initially but ended up eating. Hubby had bangers and mash, me a salad. Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Bit cramped but it was really busy so couldn’t really be helped.

Donoghue’s, just off Times Square, was a last-minute pick. Downstairs is an authentic Irish pub; upstairs is a quaint restaurant. Our server happily showed us to a window table, but a few minutes later the hostess came over and told us we couldn’t sit there. When I asked if it was reserved, she demanded to know who had seated us and insisted she was the only one allowed to assign tables - even though two other window tables remained empty throughout our entire meal. We were moved to the middle of the dining room, and those inviting window seats sat unused. The food was wonderful, but the rigid, unfriendly seating policy left us so put-off that we won’t be back

Pre-Broadway show down the street, traveling alone, hungry, some time to kill, I popped into this place to discover great happy hour prices on wine (a glass of the house red was $7 and a generous pour, so I had two) and food options (I chose the chicken pot pie). Though I was solo, I got one of the small tables for two near the door, got everything fast, and found myself to be very happy with everything, including attentive service that was otherwise unobtrusive. Recommended!

We travelled from scotland to NYC in 2022 for my friend and I joint 40th birthday. We discovered O’Donoghues mid way through our vacation. After having dinner there, and a few drinks……. It became out every night regular, and the service was incredible. The staff (including management) were so friendly, helpful, and honestly - just amazing…….. exactly what I am so used to when in Ireland. My friend and I came back again January 2023, and it is amazing to see that they environment, atmosphere and friendly nature of O’Donoghues hasn’t changed. I did read the negative review that has been posted, and to be honest I worried that it may have changed. HOWEVER, having been there - we were welcomed and chatted to and the service was, again, second to none. If you are in Manhattan, you simply MUST go to O’Donoghues - it’s the most warm, welcoming Irish bar, and we will (again) be there every night of our trip! I have to say I had the best birthday night here - thank you to Helen, Fergal & team xoxo

We came here three nights in a row because we loved the atmosphere and the food. So sad that on our last night we gave $100 for a $58 cheque and got $13 change. No apology when we mentioned it. Clearly they thought we were far more drunk than we were.

We just had appetizers and drinks, but very good apps. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Live music was excellent and both bands were audience friendly and interactive. We visit there every time we visit the city. We were staying a few doors down at Hotel Mela.

Was advised to visit this pub and was not disapointed, clean, friendly straff and very good food. Will def go back on my next visit

Popped in for dinner tonight. Great atmosphere and really welcoming staff. A real Irish hospitality welcome. The pub was heaving but the service was amazing Great food - lots of choice - and a lovely place to visit. Highly recommended.

Loved the vibe, the music was great and I tried the Shepard's Pie, it was PERFECT! The Mac & Cheese... so yummy and the Lobster Bisque was a winner too!

Irish bar with nice cosy atmosphere and good food. Service very good and fast. We enjoyed our time here thank you. Will be sure to visit another time

First night we landed in NYC, we were pretty tired and just wanted something cheap and cheerful. We were staying in the hotel across the road, so decided to pop in. Staff were lovely, very friendly and eager to help and food was some of the best food we had over there. Only insight I can give other travellers is that the portions are very large. Ordered a portion of chips that you could share with at least two to three people! We enjoyed it so much, we went back a second time!

Fabulous bar with great food and drinks. Our server really helped us out with choices of drinks and specials on food selection (meghan) bar is spotlessly clean and cosy place to sit back and rest on a busy day out.

Really much enjoyed spending a few hours there watching a few sporting events. The bartending staff was so friendly, and very attentive. I'll definitely be back there again in the near future!

The best meal I had in New York. For us Italians it is difficult to eat well abroad, but in this place we ate an excellent hamburger and, considering that we wanted to try the Mac-n-cheese, seen and relished in the various films shot in America, we ordered them and they were very good. Excellent beer. Recommended stop if you are hungry and are near Times Square.

Very good pub food and often there is Irish music to accompany your dining experience. Good wait staff.

We had a reservation for 4 adults for Xmas day dinner The host who greeted and seated us wearing a suit who was also friendly and gave us wholehearted festive welcome along an Irish accent was just amazing We had the best seat ,down at the back and so comfortable,Xmas music was pleasant ,not loud Food was good and we will go back again sometime ,it’s so difficult to get a traditional Xmas dinner in New York Staff were working so hard to please and look after all their guests ,nothing was a problem Thank you all for your hospitality

Don’t waste your time here - staff very rude and you feel like an inconvenience. Ignored at front desk and blanked during service. A real shame - there are better Irish bars in Times Square.

Stopped here while sightseeing over Memorial Day weekend & it definitely exceeded our expectations. Dinners were great, beer selection is huge & service was excellent. Will be back next time.

As a family group of four, we had completed a bus tour of Downtown New York and had been dropped off near Times Square. It was a lovely warm day and we were all desperate for a sit down and a cool drink in air conditioning. We spotted O'Donoghues Pub up a side street and went to check it out. Thought at first it was only a restaurant as all the tables were laid out for food but it was too early for us to have lunch. Thankfully, when asked, it was fine for us to pop in and enjoy some cool and refreshing drinks. It's a typical looking Irish Pub but very spacious and a nice ambiance. We were made to feel very welcome, the staff being friendly and attentive. A good range of drinks available and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The staff let us enjoy our drinks without harassing us but were attentive enough to spot when we needed refills. This is a lovely Pub to enjoy in New York and we will definitely return!

7 of us spent a couple of evenings in here around the St Patrick's Day weekend, generally paid by credit card, when we got home and checked our card statements, the exchange rate they gave us against the pound was 1-20, whereas the other bars and restaurants was 1-30. This was in addition to a credit card surcharge. Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask

I can say with complete peace of mind that it is lamentable. The wait there is interminable, all the staff seem overwhelmed by the events, the 'boss' orders people to leave the tables if they have spent too much time there according to her and the mamamia kitchen but that she is a disaster of the starter to dessert which is rare enough to underline it, generally there is still something that has been done well but not here. Maybe for a drink it's nice but the cooking is really not that and the prices it's better to buy two pairs of shoes at that price and to take McDonald's it's a thousand times better, it's to say.

Met a college friend here before a show and it was perfect. Good selection of food, drink and nice service.

Great pub for food or drink. Friendly and efficient staff (especially Sharon). The Irish Stew is a must. They should serve it at every meal, including breakfast. Conveniently located on 44th Street near Times Square. One of the best places to go. Sometimes they have really good live music. All of the bar staff are great.

Was visiting my college-aged daughter in NYC and we just happened to get hungry as we were passing by O'Donoghue's. We had a great time, enjoying very tasty food and beer, in a lively atmosphere with perfectly attentive service. I'd typically shy away from places so close to Time Square, but we really enjoyed it. Recommended.

The bartender was of bad temper with clients and was abusive in his language with the ladies while they were having fun. He was rude when asked about the check twice and shouted at the client to wait as he is being busy doing something else. Would never recommend the place as long as he is there

Went here on April 2022, went in for an eveing meal, which wasnt too bad, nothing exceptional though, it was early and very busy, but the pub was very noisy and we couldnt hear each other speak. The server even commented on that saying it was too much as it was early but didnt say anything to the group of drunks. We got up to pay and paid the full amount and added a tip, the sever then complained that the tip was not included with the payment, and took offence at the tip we had left, as far as im concerned the tipping is advisory on the amount. Their minimum is 18%, printed at the bottom of the bill, which actually made the tip more expensive than the beer we had. It was the rudeness of the server that annoyed me, we ended up leaving $10 as a tio, but definately not worth it.Overall i wouldnt recommend this place, there are a lot of other great places to eat and have a drink.

When I go out to eat in a place like New York, I usually read reviews and research where I want to eat at least for a few minutes. I did not do this with O'Donoghue's and was so pleasantly surprised that I came back with friends to eat two nights later. The first time I went I was staying across the street at the Millennium Hotel. There was a horrible thunder storm and I ran across the street into the first restaurant I saw. There was a band playing near the front of the house that was really good. They were loud but not so loud I couldn't hear the waitress. I ordered a French onion soup right away to warm up and was happy that it was honestly the best French onion soup I have ever had. The cheese and crouton on top were perfect. There were a ton of onions small enough to almost sip the soup. I then had the beef stew which was tasty and hearty with vegetables that mixed well with the stew. The potatoes on top were homemade and buttery without oozing the butter. I left some of the soup so I could have bread pudding, also a well made dish and not at all dry as bread pudding can sometimes be. Two nights later, two friends and I were in the area and wanted a place that was open late to eat in. I told them about O'Donoghue's and back we went. We only had appetizers and drinks and the place was a lot busier since it was the weekend but we got the same friendly, top quality service that I'd had before with the same hearty food. Whether alone or with a group, they really know how to treat customers at O'Donoghue's.

Loved this place, if your sick of American fried food then go here, steaks, burgers, fish but best of all Shepard’s pie. It was lush and a great welcome for a change. Fair price, friendly staff, lots of choice on food and drinks.

So, when planning our vacation we chose a hotel next door to this restaurant and I told myself that we would not be going here because it looked like an Irish Friday’s. Boy was I wrong. We went 5 times in during Christmas week for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. It was it convenient, gave 15% discount on our food because we were are that particular hotel, no lines to wait for seating even though it was crazy busy, had authentic solid and good Irish food and drink, didn’t smell of stale beer/alcohol, restrooms were clean with no lines, and most of the staff appeared to be Irish. The ‘bar’ food was at a better standard then all other bar food we ever had across the county. They have stepped it up a notch for sure. The breakfast was good and filling. The only thing I would change is adding more hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict. Other than that, everything was very good and yummy. Get the leek and potato soup! The place was clean. So much so that when we left our hotel at 5am, they had someone outside washing down the side of the building and sidewalk. We would go here over and over again. Wait! We did! Ha

Happened upon this pub and restaurant as we were going to the theatre. Very good atmosphere with friendly and efficient staff. Menu has something for everyone. Husband had ribs, son had veggie burger, other son had chicken tenders and I had chicken pie. All was lovely, good portions and we enjoyed the food and drinks. Recommend this as a great pit stop

We came here to watch a game we couldn't miss and just planned on having drinks. We ended up staying all night here because we had so much fun. We met a lot of people, had great food and drinks. The night ended up being pretty expensive all in all, but it was a great night and well worth it. Staff was accommodating, not overly friendly but did their job good. It was very very busy so obviously they didn't have time to make small talk and be very personable so it was understandable. It was a great spot to go to right across the street from our hotel!

Only given a star as the music / atmosphere was okay. Was told we couldn’t order at the bar and to take a seat for a server to come over. 25 minutes later and no server, even after trying to get their attention about 100 times still no service at all. Tourist trap - avoid

It was a freezing cold day and after wandering around Bryant Park Market for a few hours we were freezing and hungry. We saw the pub and walked it. It was warm and inviting. We warmed up With a delicious hot toddy and fish and chips. Delicious not greasy and hit the spot on a cold November day.

Sat in O’donoghues writing this review with my wife and two friends. Can honestly say that we have visited lots of bars over the the last week and we always gravitate back to this one. They always find a table for you either at the bar or at a table. The selection of drink is excellent and the food is reasonably priced and very tasty. A big thank you to all the staff who take your orders with a smile and are polite with it. You guys have truly made our stay in NYC enjoyable and will defo return when visiting. Massive thanks🥂🇱🇷🍔🍺❤️

Fab night out with great food and great Irish music. We going back to Manchester tomorrow but will miss the Craic 😊😊😊

Nice food let down my an extremely rude member of staff. I was called out infront of the whole bar for not leaving a tip which I'm pretty sure I did, if I didn't its because I was flustered when a guy was seated in the seat I was sitting in (still pretty sure I left a tip though) The service was also pretty slow, I was kept waiting a considerable time for 2 out of the 3 drinks I ordered.

Staff fab, beer good great place. Went in here because next door jimmy s corner rude. So glad they were, cause this place very welcoming

With so much hustle & bustle of Times Square, O'Donoghue's was a welcomed break with their great food & drink menu. We had no wait for a table on Saturday night (around 9:00) though it got busier later. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Drinks were spot-on and the food was delish. We were mainly doing apps and wished we could have stayed for a late supper. While we only get to NYC & Times Square every so often, we will be coming back!

This is one of a selection of good Irish bars in the Times Square area. Nestled just off Times Square on 44th it’s a great spot for watching sports with 9 TVs and a good selection of drafts (21 when I was there), well drinks, a small wine menu, and more than a few top grade whiskeys. Well known for its excellent brunch it’s also a great stop on a pub crawl of the side streets of this vibrant area. Food is pretty good too!

Friendly service, good drink/beer selection and great live music in a superb midtown location. Try the fried calamari. Fun Irish pub!

Lunch in this lovely Irish PUB. The entries are hearty. Very for NY sirmoin with a very good puree and broccoli. Only red wine by the glass is not at the level. Nice atmosphere and good service

Nice wait staff and excellent traditional Irish and non Irish food. My husband left his prescription sunglasses and they were kind enough to hold them for us till we could pick them up the next day.

Great food, great atmosphere and fantastic service. I had fish and chips and a Cosmo. Both were delicious. We will definitely be back.

Visited a couple of times on our trip to NYC from Scotland. This place was amazing, on the Friday night and Saturday night there was live music and both times the musicians were outstanding! The drink selection was vast and prices were reasonable. There was a warm welcome each time we visited and the waitress service was speedy. We didn’t have a full meal, but we did have nachos and they were delicious!

We went here twice, the service was friendly, the drinks were great and the food was decent but not amazing. If you want a friendly place to eat/drink then this is the one.

Great service and great food. The nachos with salsa and guacamole were huge and the best I've ever eaten. Chicken quesadilla also delicious. This became our go to bar every night in New York.

Fantastic place, great atmosphere and had a nice vibe to it. Very happy that all the Christmas decorations were still up, it was beautiful. Food was great, ample portions and drinks very nice. Came here for 3 evenings out of our 5 night stay. Welcoming team and good service given. Definitely worth a visit!

Food looked good but did not try any. Great atmosphere with sports on TV and live Irish music going on. Close to hotel which was a plus.

We visited this pub on the last day of our stay in NYC. When we entered, nobody was there to show us where to sit, so we continued to the back as it looked like there was some staff available there. We were offered a table, but noticed that we would have been located right underneath the airco, so we asked for a different table. Something that seemed a first in the history of pubs, probably this is not done as we could see on the face of the waitress. While we were eating average tasting hamburgers, I noticed somebody of the staff entering the women's toilets, probably for a repair. He was accompanied by another male member of the staff. This was enough for some of the waitresses to shout out very loud to 'Stay out of the women's bathroom!' multiple times. Not very professional in my opinion. The rest of the time, the staff were busy checking their phones, ignoring customers. When we left the restaurant after we payed this was also not noticed by any member of the staff as they were joking behind the bar or checking their phones near the entrance. Never again.

Very Good Welcoming and Service! An excellent pork belly and gourmet lobster ravioli. Congratulations to the teams. An Irish bar at the Top in the heart of Manhathan.

Popped in a few times for a few drinks. Great atmosphere and great service. Although didn't eat here, the food did look very tasty. Not bad price wise either. Great location and friendly, attentive staff. Definitely recommend a visit.

After having had a late lunch, we weren't ready for a large meal before a visit to a nearby theater, so we stopped into O'Donoghues for a bar snack and glass of wine before the show. We shared an order of delicious sliders, which were filling enough to keep us going. The service was prompt and friendly even though the pub was very full and lively.

Forced to stop at this place because no restaurant in New York serves food except bad fast food. On the outside it says that they serve late and when we come back they change the menu with much less choice because supposedly it's too late. And on the menu it says Caesar salad but I'm still looking for the chicken. Prices too expensive for what it is.

Had just landed in NYC and looking for some good quality food. O'Donoghues was sent from Heaven. Staff were really friendly. Food was beautiful. We will be back.......

Staff are very friendly the food is good bar food Atmosphere in the bar is good it’s clean and well managed recommend for a drink or a meal

Visited whilst in Times Square in New York. Friendly staff who could not be faulted. Large selection of food and drinks. Lots of televisions to watch all the sports ⚽️. Great atmosphere 🥳

Loved this place! The atmosphere, staff and food were great and reasonably priced. Very popular and best to book in advance. Weekends are walk in only so be prepared to queue for a while. Strawberry Daquiri was delicious!

We were exhausted from our day of running around and this was close to our hotel. Wow, what a hidden gem. The hostess was the kindest and made us feel right at home. We were seated right away at a very comfortable, window seat and the service was top notch. The server was incredibly attentive, professional and we were extremely happy with how we were treated. The food was amazing! We had traditional Irish beef stew, with the extras and it was so delicious. The meat was tender, the flavor was lovely and it was full of bite sized meat and vegetables. It tasted homemade, like my friend’s Irish grandmother made it. We were too full for dessert but wish we weren’t. The prices were very reasonable, you got a lot of food for the money and it didn’t cost a fortune, like most Time Square restaurants. The tavern, which we stopped at later for a beer was clean, comfortable and had a wide selection of beverages. Overall, a delightful establishment.

We called here after a busy sightseeing day for a quick drink. The atmosphere was good although very loud and the meet and greet waiter friendly and helpful in finding us a seat - we decided after 30 mins to also eat here and were kindly moved to a larger table to accommodate 2 friends. All good so far! After quite a long wait 3 of the 4 meals arrived but sadly 2 of these were cold / Luke warm. We complained and were given replacements, along with the missing dish - again 2 of the four were cold. Although one dish was removed from the bill we left disappointed and still hungry. It would have been a poor mark had the staff not been so nice

went here everyday while in NYC for breakfast. had the Irish breakfast ( sausage bacon eggs beans tomatoes black pudding white pudding mushrooms and toast. we also ordered coffee which was refiled as much as you like.

Traditional Irish bar, enjoyed sitting at the bar, staff were friendly and polite. We went here twice the first time after discovering it by chance after shopping in Times Square and it was then that we discovered it was next door to a restaurant we were to go to the next so w decided to go there for drinks prior to our meal. Manhattan is not short of Irish bars and this one was as good as any others we have been to.

Wanted to sit somewhere out of the way due to a disability but told that area was closed. After waitress took our order she brought over our drinks, took food order but once we had been given our food she never came back to follow up. My husband ordered another drink from a passing waiter but he never got it. Felt rushed and not welcome. Waitress was propped up against the bar watching the TV. Wouldn’t recommend nor will we return.

We were staying at the Millennium Hotel which was across the road from this pub. On our first night we saw that they had a happy hour from 4.00 to 7.00 so gave it a try. What a good choice, it did get a bit loud inside so we asked a member of staff if we could move outside she said no problem. We had a couple of beers each which were nice and cold. We came back the next night after a long walk and was welcomed by the owner who said it was nice to see us back, what a nice touch. We ended coming back most nights as it was so handy for our hotel We did not eat here but all the food looked very good. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended if you want a good pint.

We usually stay in Times Square when in NYC, and we often stop at O'donoghue's. We have never been disappointed, and this time was no different. I was traveling alone and I was pleased to be offered a table, rather than the bar. The atmosphere is pure Irish pub - dark with lots of wood and plenty of TVs and sports paraphernalia. Service is prompt and friendly and the food is dependable. Prices are in line with there area. We have found this to be a dependable option in the chaos of Times Square.

Be careful if you pay by credit card and leave a handwritten tip! This was modified after our visit! The pub gave itself a much higher tip than the one we left!!!

We visited here on recommendation. We were not disappointed. Warm friendly atmosphere with excellent service. Helen was so helpful with ideas on trips. Sue... excellent bar service!! Thank you both

Great ambiance, great cocktails and an excellent draft beer selection! This place was topped of by the sweetest, most friendly, genuinely nice bartender by the name of Sharon! She made the experience for my wife and I and the other people at the bar absolutely delightful!

We stumbled on the bar after Jimmy’s Corner was too packed. The hostess was wonderful but the bartender was less than impressive. We order multiple beers and house fries which were delicious! Throughout this, my party and I wanted water along with the delicious beers. While we got H2O, it seemed to be an issue. Some people care to drink water alongside of beers.. just sayin’. Oh well, cool place but, won’t make an effort to come back.

We went to O’Donaghues in Times Square last night for food and drink. What a great place with great staff and excellent service. Easy to book a table online and as we walked in the Fairytale of New York was playing - just brilliant

Nice pub, good atmosphere we were in to watch the rugby very busy but we got a seat, nice staff and lovely drinks. We also had some snacks which were nice.

Happy hour - Monday to Friday- 4pm to 7pm - selected beers & cocktails Good solid menu, reasonable prices considering it's proximity to Times Square. If you're staying in the area, it's a good option for food/refreshments day or night.

A great bar with very convivial atmosphere and great staff. We went here intending to have drinks on the night we arrived into New York. We ended up having snacks too and this was without doubt, the best bar we visited during out stay in NYC.

This bar and restaurant became our favourite place to eat. You had a lovey welcome and did not have to wait long to be seated for a table. The staff were very friendly and polite and helpful. The food was amazing and very filling. We tried a few various meals over the time we stayed in NY and everyone was just as good as the first. The garlic bread is probably one of the nicest I have ever had and the burgers were could to your liking. The music was good and a variety of channels to watch so you did not miss out on your home football. Definitely would recommend.

A great spot for food drinks and music. Went as a novelty being Irish holidaying for a few days with the surname O Donoghue. Had dinner there before a show, food was lovely, exactly as described on the menu. Went back after the show for a cocktail. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Music was great. Felt like I was in a pub at home. Would highly recommend

As an Irish man very disappointed, barman poor no engagement with punters especially the older gentleman . Overall disappointing hard to say I waited 10 mins at an Irish bar for a pint and it wasn’t even busy . Avoid if you want the Irish experience or go if you want the bad Irish experience 👎😩☘️

Visited a couple of times while staying across the road. First time was lunch and drinks. Very good service and the food quality for a bar was good. Next visit was just for drinks and again service was very good. Tried to book evening dinner but was booked out. I guess due to a band being on. Shame as would like to have tried more of the menu. Although in the tourist trap it didn’t have that feel

We would highly recommend a visit to this great bar right next to Times Square, NYC. We were a group of 8 ladies visiting the city and just happened to find this little gem of an Irish bar. We booked a table for a 21st birthday dinner and drinks and the staff made it the most memorable birthday for the young lady and friends and family. There's a wide selection of meals and snacks on the menu, something for everyone. Everyone enjoyed a wide variety of cocktails and beers. The owner also presented our group with complimentary drinks. The food is great, the bar and toilets clean and the staff are absolutely 1st class. Very welcoming and authentically Irish. What you get here is as Irish as it gets, from the food to the welcome. If you only visit one bar while in New York make it O'Donoghues. Live music some nights is an added bonus. Fergal and Helen are managers here, say hello and tell them where you're from. Lovely people, they treat everyone like VIP's. Tell them the Dublin girls sent you and have a great time.

Great beer selection, good service, food okay too. If you are looking for simple food with an Irish feel then this place is a good. We were warmly greeted at the door but it was the lovely Sarah that made it a true Irish experience. She was lovely, warm and friendly. Good place would go back

Please make sure you know what drinks are included in "Happy Hour" as we were charged the full amount for the same drinks we had had on the previous night, which were charged at half price. When i enqueried why I had been charged full price for drinks bought prior to 19:00 I was told that I hadn't chosen" Happy hour"drinks ,which isn't made clear anywhere in the pub. The server did say they would charge half price for the drinks bought before 19:00 and full price for the ones after, which I was happy with. On checking my credit card statement I have been charged the full amount. "Happy hour " wasn't quite as happy as I had thought it was going to be.

Had a decent lunch here and would have given a better rating but out server was miserable and really didnt give a damn. Shame as on previous occasions service was excellent. completely ignored us on way out while she was eating....nice.. not

Came upon this bar by chance and I’m glad we did, great staff, fab atmosphere and home made cooking, what more can you say and ask, bar was busy due to the holiday season but that didn’t stop us getting our drinks or food as the atmosphere added to the evening, live music too which added to the evening, would recommend a visit and try the food Or just enjoy the Guinness

The hotel that we are staying at across the street was appalling, and this find was a pleasant surprise. The draft beers here were great!

Noisy atmosphere on game days (which is great)Good beer and fast and friendly staff. Very full but it didn’t take too long to get the drinks and the food. Typically Irish interior.

After an over priced and disappointing meal at Petit Boucherie the evening before, O'Donoghue's was warm and wonderful. The ambiance is what you would expect from a pleasing pub. We ordered the Shepherd's pie and Guinness Beef Stew - both were hearty and delicious. My only disappointment was that the helpings were so generous, we had no room for dessert. They also know how to serve a proper serving of wine. The service was excellent! My one beef (pun intended) - I believe the Shepherd's pie was made with ground sirloin, technically a Shepherd's pie should be made with lamb - a pie such as this (made with beef) should be called a Cottage pie. Still - delicious is delicious.

Quaint and fun decorated Irish Pub, right off Times Square. The food was very good. Location is good. It gets crowded easily, so make reservations. It’s also pretty loud, so take that in to consideration

Aside from the owner, Fergal wearing a France coloured top on the day of the world cup semi final (who does that)? This place offered the friendliest of welcomes despite the amount of customers that came through the door Great service, food, drink and always with a smile, fully recommend a visit Thank you Lin Portsmouth

My son and I came here and ate some lunch and had some drink's. the staff was very polite and professional and friendly. They have good music and a nice place to hang and have some drinks with family or friends. This is a must on your list to go visit while in NYC.

Just off of Times Square, this was just perfect for what we needed. We found it by accident after traipsing around trying to get a bite to eat as we’d arrived that evening and all the restaurants we tried had a 40 minute wait. We managed to get a table and we’re served quickly. The food was nice had something for all of my family’s taste. The waitress was nice and attentive even though it was busy, she kept checking we were ok or asking if we needed anything. We ended up going back here for lunch before we left NYC as we’d liked it so much!

Dropped by after a long day out … a little under whelmed by the quality of the food not helped by a healthy bill for very average food (oven chips ?) Nice place for a drink with the “Irish charm” but wouldn’t head back for food … shame no pizza 🍕 ..

We recently returned from our yearly stay in NYC. On our last night we headed up to O'Donoghue's Pub in Times Square, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of Sharon, we ended up staying hours. Sharon's skills as a bar lady was brilliant, she covers some ground. We'll definitely find ye next year, Farewell for now!

Called in for a drink after a hard day sightseeing and stayed for dinner. Love a blended margarita or two after a hard day pounding the pavement. Staff were very friendly and welcoming with lots of Irish accents around. Service was great and food delicious and reasonable. Place was packed when we left but looked like everyone was set for a good night. Handy to Times Square without all the hustle.

Great Bar for a friendly drink. Very clean and well maintained. Management and bar staff friendly and helpful. First stop on any time square trip

Had dinner here with my wife and ate outside. It was a bit chilly but a great experience. The food was awesome will come back....

Came here for some dinner and drinks. I’m giving this a five star review even though our young blonde waitress ended up ditching us throughout service; but thankfully another waitress catered to us. I had the house Chardonnay since happy hour is from 4pm to 7pm; it was delish. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was super delish and my hub’s had the turkey burger and a beer. As he started his next beer I decided to have an Irish coffee and it was really good. We ordered a key lime pie and Oreo cheesecake to go. Our second waitress was super amazing; I wish I had got her name but then I also wish I had our first one as well since she just abandoned us in the middle of the meal. Drinks were good, food was delicious and the vibe was excellent. I would definitely come back.

Been going here for the last 3 years, when on Holiday still great food still great ales still great staff Eddie, Helen,Graham and Katie big Thanks for your welcome

This was by far the BEST Irish bar in NYC. I tried about 10-12 Irish bars on my week long trip. I always went back to O'Donoghue's. The bar tender "Eddie" was just plain amazing. Great drinks, fun atmosphere. It is not a quiet bar, they have great live music that you will love to sing along with.

Tucked away just off Times Square, you could unfortunately miss this little gem. We went in a couple of times this week and loved our experience. A thriving and lively vibe, but also somewhere you feel completely safe and relaxed. Great music and friendly staff are a real bonus. The food is terrific. Last night I went for the special which was beef tenderloin in masala and mushroom sauce, with creamy mashed potato and perfectly cooked seasonal veg. Sooooo good, and plenty of it! Beautifully decorated now for Christmas, done with a real passion. Loved it!

It was our last night in NYC and my wife chose this pub as they have live music on a Friday night at 8pm.We got there around 7pm,were seated and ordered Drinks and Food. Extensive Menu, but food was so so.By 8.30pm no sign or sound of music or anyone setting up,so we left.Very busy, buzzy pub,but a bit Dissapointing.

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch here on Christmas Day. The service was excellent, friendly and food was delicious. Christmas songs playing and all decorated for the big day. Would highly recommend. Great place!! Thank you for a really enjoyable Christmas meal.

Nice friendly atmosphere, simple enough pub grub. No different from any other of the Irish themed pubs.

We visit NYC three to four times a year and try to find at at least one Irish Pub. Having been to Ireland many times, we enjoy the atmosphere, food and drink. Upon entering, we were informed that we should sit anywhere. We did so and the waitress immediately took our drink order. So far, so good. The drinks arrived in a timely manner and the waitress left our table abruptly. We waited for about ten minutes when I left my seat to get a menu. I located our waitress and she politely provided us one menu to share. We waited another period of time and she finally returned to take our order. We both ordered the burger with Irish bacon and cheddar cheese. The burger arrived rather quickly. There was far more roll than burger and the meat was tasteless. We both finished our drinks while eating and she did not return to ask if we wanted a refill. She only did so when we asked for our check. It should be noted that the bar/ restaurant was not busy ( Tuesday night before 6PM) and I could only see two tables that were occupied, including ours.

We visited this pub several times this week while in New York. The food was great, and they have an extensive drinks menu. Happy hour drinks from 4-7pm. The Cosmo and Appletini were lovely, but what made us keep going back were the staff. In particular Sharon and Seamus. Both were very friendly, & despite being busy serving drinks, they still made time to have a chat. We hope to be back again soon. Fiona & Ricky!

We visited O'Donoghe's after along day of sightseeing in NYC. The food and service was outstanding! I had the chicken curry and it was great!! If I ever come back to visit I will surely eat here again!

This became our local during our recent 6 day trip to NYC. Sharon was what you would expect of a real professional barmaid…great service, great craic and great at her job. The live music on the night we were there was very good and the one time we ate dinner it was a nice meal. Huge thanks to the team at o’donoghues for taking care of us…Team Thunder*@*@

Before attending a Broadway play, my wife and I stopped for lunch at O'Donoghue's Pub. It's a traditional Irish pub with a full bar, beers on tap, cocktails and wine. The menu offers soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, entrees and traditional Irish fare. We ordered the cheese burger sliders and the 44th street burger. The burger was topped with blue cheese, frizzled onions, lettuce and tomato and a side of fries. Everything was cooked well, the server was good and they got us to the theatre on time.

Just across 44TH Street from our hotel OD's was a great place for an early evening drink (Happy Hour Mon-Fri 4.00 PM- 7.00PM). After trying it one evening, thanks to the welcome that we received from Sharon we went back on a number of occasions for drinks and dinner. For a pub so close to Times Square the Happy hour drinks, although limited in choice, were good value, $5.00 for a pint of draught Bud Light and a near full glass of very palatable Cabernet for slightly more, everyone in our party were more than happy. Food was great, recommend the ribs. As with many US bars it can get rather noisy inside with the music loud which hindered conversation. Fortunately we were able to drink outside in their temporary (presumably Covid related) structure. If our hotel across the street ever gets its act together and finally renovates, we will be back next time in NYC.

We decided to eat our last lunch here before leaving the hotel. Very friendly staff and Irish to boot :) I had the Irish Stew which was to die for! And mum had a French Onion Soup. Very clean and fast service. Oh and the beer was great too!!

Really enjoyed our time here. Was a really authentic Irish bar which is not easy to find. The food was really good and they even had barrys tea! There was a guy in the bar singing while we were there and he was really good. It actually felt like I was back in Ireland in this bar.

An Irish bar with a much more party vibe, at least on a Wednesday evening anyway! Sitting at the bar got brilliant service with a large range of drinks available, all served very quickly. Although very busy it remained a friendly crowd with a mix of groups and single guests too. A great atmosphere and it was an enjoyable spot.

Attended O’Donoghues whilst visiting New York. Seemed a really good Irish bar with a good atmosphere and very busy when we attended. We were just out for evening drinks but staff seemed more interested if you were having food and were uninterested when we sat at a table just for drinks. Not sure if it’s some sort of scam, but bought a round of drinks at the bar and paid by card. My account seemed to be debited the correct amount on the receipt I had retained but days later I noticed the amount had increased by $5 dollars (added without my authorisation). Kept the transaction receipt to query with bank. I would recommend only paying cash at this location as maybe a tourist scam location.

Absolutely awesome Irish pub in the middle of NYC. The bartender, Brendan was chit chatting with us and couldn't have been nicer. We were in town for a funeral and went in mid morning to get a cup of tea and some beers - it was such a friendly and fun atmosphere. I will totally go back next time I'm in NY. Would be great if you were seeing a show - very convenient to the theaters. Highly recommend.

Stayed across the road. Service was fantastic food was clean and friendly priced and portioned. Great friendly place !

Cool little Irish Pub in the heart of Times Square. Food and drinks were good! My Reuben good have been better and needed more dressing.

Fantastic place to eat. Visited with family for dinner and the food was absolutely amazing. The server was very attentive and made sure drinks etc were always full. The atmosphere was lovely. The prices were also great.

Waiting staff was friendly and quick. Had good cold beer and good wings. I should have really tried more of an authentic Irish meal

We came on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and were seated right away. This is a typical bar/restaurant. The bar was full of people having drinks and bar food. There are high top tables only and the music was going; it was loud, but there were playing some great songs. Food overal was good. Fish and chips was a bit disappointing; fish could have been crispier and I felt the fries were underdone and under-seasoned. Overal, not terrible.

Popped in here a couple of times during our trip, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic food, fantastic service. Will definitely be back if we come back to New York.

We made several visits here during our trip. Great food and service at all times. The chicken wings are amazing.

Good menu, good food, cold beer. The atmosphere is true irish. Live irish music adds to the feel of Ireland (we ate there on a Tuesday)

We got here early for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. The waitstaff was very friendly, especially our server Tracy. She gave us a menu immediately and took our drink order. We had two wines and I ordered the burger sliders off the appetizer menu and my husband got the Reuben sandwich. Boy did we choose good! I had 3 thick beef sliders with cheese. The meat was cooked just right and they were so filling I was only able to eat two. My husband's Reuben was huge and served with a large amount of fries. He said it was once of the best he's ever had and he ate it all! A plus was that they played great music from the 70's at just the right volume. Highly recommend this place.

We visited here on our last night Staff go above and beyond to be helpful Food was excellent, drink was good also. We were seated immediately and the staff were attentive and very prompt. They had time to chat and thanked us when leaving. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting New York

This was opposite where we were staying and became our second home as the food was so nice and the staff so welcoming. There is also live music every night

Really great welcome and felt very at home straight away. Owner came over after five minutes and chatted with us asking us if we wanted the football on the TV as he knew we were English. Great selection of beers and food was really good (and good sized portions). An excellent first night meal in NY ! Thank you O Donaghues !

We nipped in a for a couple after a show and were welcomed at the door and shown to an available seat at the bar. Place was lively and bar staff were really friendly and took the trouble to say thanks and goodbye as we left. Didn't eat here but planning to return for a few drinks before heading home to Ireland

Our meal was delicious, the service was very quick with the host being super efficient. A excellent variety on the menu, I would highly recommend.

We arrived in NYC in the late afternoon and after a long day travelling, we were more than ready for something to eat! We have been to NYC 3 times now and we have always decided to try O'Donoghue's as it is right around the corner from the hotel that we stay in... Only thing is, there's that many places to try in the city that we never got round to it until this time! The Irish charm attracted us to the restaurant in the first place and after reading the menu that has plenty for all kinds of eaters, we were decided that this was the time we were going to go in and we did not regret it! The food and drink was very reasonably priced and the food was very good quality! We were greeted by a server straight away and taken to a table on the side. The place was very, very busy but this did not affect the level of service that we received and our food came out very fast and was piping hot! I would highly recommned this place to anyone and everyone, as I said earlier there is something on the menu that will suit everyone.

Absolutely fantastic bar, well situated, very close to Times Square, great to just chill out and relax, Seamus and Sharon made us feel like we walked in to a bar in Ireland, very nice and welcoming. Great service. Very friendly.

We were visiting the nearby Broadway Museum and decided to stop in for lunch. I had the flatbread and enjoyed it - just wishes there was a bit of sweet balsamic on it to finish off.

Went in for a quick bite to eat as I was staying across the street at the Millennium. The wings were good. So were the chicken tenders.

Visited 3 times. Quality food and drinks at good prices. Great staff. Good location. A great experience so close to times square but good value compared to others xxxx

Great pub vibe at this Irish bar. The bar itself is made from wood and looks amazing. Dozens of whiskey choices and beer and cocktail selections. Food was great and the bar tender was engaging and quick with service. If you like Irish whiskey, Irish beer and Irish food while listening to Irish music, this is THE place. Located just off of Times Square.

Good conversation and great atmosphere... worth the visit. Friendly staff and patrons make it a great place to relax.

Good atmosphere for drinks but the staff behind the bar are really surly and ruin the experience. Won't be back.

Dropped in for a lunch after arriving in NYC and enjoyed the really good food and vibes at this local Irish Pub.

Without doubt the worst Christmas experience we have ever encountered. The romantic dreams of Christmas Day in New York were soon quashed by the appalling lunch in this clearly overrated Irish bar. Whilst we all know Christmas Day is inevitably busy and we need to make allowances for overworked staff I am afraid in this case it was made much worse by the greed of the management and I’ll temper of the manager. It was clear the pub was full to capacity and obviously everyone knows they would need to book on Christmas Day, however the manager tried to squeeze more and more people in, and to rush those who had booked through their meal to increase their turnover. 50:minutes for 3 courses and then pressured to move on. That wasn’t the worst element however. As Christmas 2022 was one of the coldest on record, the management had huge numbers of people hanging around the door waiting for tables, or waiting to see if they could be squeezed in. The draft was terrible. The meals of diners who had booked were freezing, often before they arrived or minutes later. Of course despite booking, we were placed on the table next to the door. NUMEROUS times we had to get up and close the door ourselves or ask people to move in. Even that wasn’t the worse element. On the table next to us a couple and their children sat at a table. They were drinking, not eating. The manager told them they couldn’t sit, which is fair enough as tables were booked. However, why amongst this chaos did they let more people in to drink, with push chairs when there was already no space to move. When the group were standing they were blocking the circulation space, but they were not allowed to sit down. Greed again I guess. Eventually a row broke out between the manager and the father. This escalated when asked to leave, and deteriorated into a physical fight, swearing and screaming. This was this most uncomfortable meal I have ever had anywhere. No apology from the manager at all despite this fight in the middle of our lunch. The food itself was mediocre, the wine absolutely terrible. This was the worst meal ever, and we were not even offered a free drink as compensation. I have no idea how this pub is so highly rated. I am Irish, this quality would not be tolerated at home, and this bar is a disgrace to promote itself as an Irish Pub.

My wife and I stayed in Manhattan from 2nd to 7th October. We visited o donoghues most days. Drink and food prices good for this area. Staff are absolutely brilliant. Special mentions to Dion, Suzanne and Sharon. Can recommend this pub to one and all. If we return to new york, we will definitely be visiting again

Spent 5 days in New York? Made O'Donoghues Times Square our local and loved it, James the barman was an amazing guy, such a great pub, love it, love it, love it

Great welcoming experience, looked after by the staff. Good food and drinks. We liked the fact they didn’t push for the tip on the check, it was clearly at our discretion. We would recommend.

For NYC the prices here give this place the highest rating after some of the othe places we dined. The food and drinks were delicious, delivered quickly and were not overpriced like most places. The restaurant was clean and accommodating. The meals were filling. They offer specials too! I would eat here again.

Over a decade on, every word, each syllable still has a sonorous ring of absolute truth. To Sue, Eddie, Orla, Helen, Joe and all the other members of the band past and present, and in no particular order of magnificence... It was a cold, brisk, astringent mid-winter evening in New York City. As the unforgiving wind took hold and the frigid temperature crept ever lower, a British gentleman in need of solace, sustenance and stay strolled down 44th St. Though he had frequented and patronised many bars in Manhattan over the years, warming many a bar stool along the way, a new light caught his eye this particular evening. 'O'Donoghue's Pub' is where we lay our scene. Having escaped the chill of the night, the warmth of this establishment was most welcoming. Pulling up a bar stool, it soon became evident that the true warmth, however, lay in the welcome afforded by the staff. After a convivial, cordial greeting, a swiftly presented beer and some endearing banter, this Brit knew , without hesitation or cause for amendment, that this was to be his home for the duration of his stay and indeed, a regular haunt on each subsequent visit. (As it turns out, dear reader, I later met my future wife at this very establishment, spent several years living in the city, and was able to make this the most venerated and prized place I have ever had the fortune to call my local) From the charming mahogany bar to the plethora of beers on offer; from the genial bar conversations to the piquant nourishment of the menu; from the unquestionably authentic welcome to the courtesy afforded by all who worked there...this was hospitality of the highest order. For the next six evenings, and oft a quick sojourn for luncheon, O' Donoghue's was his unrivaled establishment of choice. I urge those who may be trawling the unrelenting, invigorating, inspiring yet oft exhausting streets and avenues of this fair city, take pause. When that time comes, traverse to O'Donoghue's. May their earnest welcome sooth your weary soul, their appetizing food refuel your body and the intelligent, charming conversation of the staff be your company. Enjoy and remember, many will imitate but none will replicate. See you next time...

Stopped here for dinner with 2 brothers -- total of 3 of us. We were seated promptly & server came to our table quickly for drink orders. Each of us ordered the Shepherds Pie. Unanimous decision: TERRIBLE! No flavor; no seasoning at all. Price was reasonable (at least by New York city standards) but other than that, can't really find anything good to say. Best advice: go elsewhere if you want a tasty meal.

Came here especially for St Patrick’s day and though the food was amazing (chicken pot pie) I was slightly underwhelmed as I thought there would be some sort of live entertainment being an Irish bar and it being Paddy’s day. However I’m u dear the understanding that as the parade was the day before then everything was lively then. It didn’t spoil our night out. The service was good and the food and drink was fab. Also in a good location

We’re here for my sister’s birthday and visited on our first night. Agreed we needed a second round before the trip was over! Drinks are fabulous! Staff is attentive and helpful with recommendations. The spinach artichoke dip and crab cakes are my two favorites! When we’re back in NYC, we will visit again!

On our first night in New York We called into O'donoghues Bar and Restaurant Great service price and food Nothing to much trouble A great start to our holidays Thanks Dickie :-)

Wanted to try a different restaurant before going to a Broadway show. Made reservations, upon arrival, we said we had reservations, but they didn't ask the name it was under until after we were seated. Placed our order and someone other than our server brought us our food (who was a very friendly gentlemen). After we had finished our food, our server, Emer C asked if we needed anything else to which we responded we didn't. We ended up waiting 30 minutes trying to get our server's attention to get our bill. She was too busy at the bar talking to other servers. When we finally got her attention by shouting, she reprimanded us that we didn't have to shout. It was another server who came to assist us and get our check. Upon leaving we spoke to the manager about the situation who dismissed us. Will not be coming here again.

Of the few Irish bars we visited during our 5 night stay this was our favourite one. On our first visit we had a couple of beers and shared some starters (wings and potato skins). All were excellent as was the table service. We came back another night for a post theatre drink and sat at the bar. Another enjoyable visit.

Nice place with a live band (on Tuesdays and other nights). Nice atmosphere. Warm Irish welcome. Nice food. The craic was good here. Was on holiday/vacation from London but the atmosphere was all Irish. Grand so!

Went there for drinks late one night and enjoyed the fiddle player. Went back for lunch on a Saturday and had so-so fish and chips

Straight up standard irish pub fare. That said, it is solid, no complaints at all when. Solid drink and food menu, in a classic NYC busy-setting in the heart of Times Square, and convenient, whether to NASDAQ and Times Square itself, or to the theatres.

Stopped off here 4 or 5 times for refreshments . Staff had the craic, good selection of beers on draft and the live music at night was fantastic. Worth a visit

What a great find. We visited several times during our stay and made use of the happy hour most evenings!! We’ve had superb lunch on our last day. The place is beautifully decorated for Christmas too 🎄❤️ Thank you for a great time. 10/10 all ways round ✅

Great Mood in this pub for Thursday night live The group was excellent The beer is good the dishes are okay Rates NYC...

Wonderful food, nice friendly staff and brilliant service. Well worth a visit and you can book a table for an evening meal later which is what we did and we aren’t from New York we are from England so no issues with booking when your a holiday maker.

O'Donoghue's, a true American-Irish pub in the heart of Manhattan's theater district, offers a variety of beers and a delicious selection of pub fare and Irish classics. With a lively and relaxed atmosphere, it is a recommendation for an authentic Manhattan experience.

Typical pub atmosphere. Service was very friendly and attentive. The wraps were large as was the chicken sandwich. The waffle fries were delicious. You won't go away hungry.

Brilliant food, drinks and service Wish I had found it the day before as they do a happy hour Monday to Friday 4pm - 6pm with cocktails and wine for only $6

Since we were in town to see a show, we chose this ideally located pub for lunch. First, get a reservation! The pub was typical for a mod town eatery. Small, many tables wedged virtually next to each other. Again, this is typical! Obviously a great bar with a great selection of beers on tap. Small menu priced accordingly for New York City. The Guiness beef stew and the chicken pot pie were our selections. Very satisfied with both. Although packed, we never felt rushed.

Ate here as it was across the street from our hotel. Food was decent, service very meager. Good burger and fries, super loud (but hey its a sports bar of sorts). Mets were playing for the championship so what can you say.

Hit this spot before a show at The Broadhurst Theater. Great Irish pub, excellent food and very reasonable, especially for the theater district. Leave plenty of time for yourself and best to make a reservation.

Stopped for an early dinner after a long day of traveling and walking. The Shepard’ pie was better than the chicken pot pie. I’d go back for the Shepard’ sour.

The food here was amazing. Really big portions, great choice in the menu. And was right opposite our hotel so even better.
Nice friendly staff
A lovely warm welcome. Reasonably priced drinks for the centre of the city and a great selection, good live music too.
