Quite Good from an Italian point of view

By AlessandroPascone |

We've been here for lunch and tried tomato soup with "stracciatella", the internal part of the so called Burrata. However, what they really delivered to us, was a quite bad tomato sauce and a small cup of ground mozzarella instead of real stracciatella. We told waiter we were Italian and knew very well what stracciatella is, but he persisted saying it was the real one. We finished the lunch and the waiter apologized afterwards. Overall, a quite good lunch, but pretty far from authentic Italian cuisine.

Nice environment for a coffee break

By Serge D |

If you looking for a nice environment for a good coffee with something sweet, well than you are here on the Wright place. Quite and vary open space in this hall.

Disappointing...

By shamrock123 |

Having eaten at the Toronto location several time (and loving it) I was really looking forward to lunch here with a friend. Wow, so disappointed...... Their lunch menu is extremely small, lacking most of the items available for dinner - you couldn't even order one of their amazingly delicious pizzas, something the Toronto location always has on their lunch menu. Our waiter thought he was being fast and efficient, but was actually curt and annoyed. The buratta was really good (which saves this review from being a 1 star), but the butternut squash soup was meh at best. Both were overpriced. We ate as quickly as we good, gulped at the sticker shock of our final bill and left. Won't be going back.

Late light lunch

By P M |

Stopped in to get a salad after waking around midtown. The salad was served quickly and a large portion of spinach with sun died tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and chicken. Was prefect for the light quick lunch I was hoping. The service was friendly. I sat at the bar watching the chefs and cooks work away. Would definitely stop in again if the similar quick lunch is needed.

Horrible.

By Le p’tit Schtroumpfs |

The server does not come repeatedly!!! Frankly in New York there are other nicer places!!! Long and no atmosphere!!! Do not do!!!!!

That's a Panini?

By Alan M |

Stopped by this restaurant in the Flat Iron section for lunch with a friend. His pizza with proscuitto looked much better than my panini. How do you make a panini without grille marks? Very forgettable to say the least. Nice atmosphere and good service but unimpressed by the food.

Whimsical concept but some tasty mozzarella

By Ian L |

Not much to eat on the menu that doesn't involve mozzarella and I felt a little guilty not ordering the just plain mozzarella taster. The value isn't great and the service only mediocre. Probably won't be returning.

Where were the chips!?

By Bwatsweeds |

Being in an IBM building I would have expected some chips but these were not forthcoming. Meanwhile the waitress's attempt to speak the Italian equivalent of Spanglish (lets call it Itanglish) badly was slightly embarrassing. Lastly, the walk to the toilets (restrooms in Americanglish) was very long, resembling the long walk to freedom! That said, the service was particularly good, there was a freshness to the food and it was a nice and original concept. I would come again.

Excellent Food and Ambience

By Susan P |

I have passed this restaurant many times, but this is the first time I have dined there. It will not be the last. In a city with many outstanding restaurants, this one compares favorably. The restaurant is inside a public atrium, but you will feel like you are in a fine restaurant with windows on all sides and a superb view of city life. There is a table where you can sit face to face with your dining companion and have a conversation, as well as, a great meal. The service was excellent and the server made a fine suggestion of wine to go well with the food. This is wonderful Italian food with fresh ingredients, good service, an interesting view and good acoustics if you would like to hear the conversation as you eat.

great find

By ccarvale |

Spent weekend in New York and came across Obika while window shopping on Madison Avenue. What a great find! It feels like you are eating outside without the heat and exhaust fumes. Staff is super friendly but the best part is the food. Best lasagna I have ever eaten even in Italy. Waiter says it is the Buffalo mozzarella. I think the sauce is outstanding as well. Good value for the money.

Keep walking, don't waste your time!

We were wandering the mid-town area and wanted a light lunch. The hubby remembered "That Mozzarella Bar" he wanted to try. Not being one to say no to fresh mozzarella cheese, I said Sure!! We ate at the counter of the mozzarella bar. Seating was tight as I was right next to the cash register, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had: Butternut Squash Soup with Goat Cheese - it was served lukewarm (not sure if that was intentional) and relatively flavorless. The hubby and I added balsamic vinegar to pump up the flavor - we failed miserably Mozzarella Sampler - one piece of fresh mozzarella - needed salt but was tasty; and smoked mozzarella - tasted okay if a bit too salty Eggplant Caponata - I really enjoyed this, it had the right mix of tang and salt. The hubby didn't like that there were beans in it - he is a bit of a caponata snob. They were also out of burrata which was disappointing. For a mozzarella bar, we expected better mozzarella.

LOVE THIS PLACE -

By Jim M |

Obika mozzarella bar. Service was excellent, food was excellent, price not too bad for Manhattan - great choice for lunch or dinner. IBM Building Atrium - so you had a feeling of eating outdoors when you are really inside. Very friendly staff and clean surroundings.

Obica mozzarella in NYC

Restaurant suitable for a quick lunch. It is located on Madison Avenue in an excellent central location. You eat lunch in a large indoor space, but the presence of shrubs and chirping birds gives the impression of being in a garden. All dishes ordered were tasty. We have come to this restaurant many times for lunch and always return with pleasure. The only negative point is the absence of toilets, you have to go to Trump Tower. Give it a try

By MAloysioM |

Italian restaurant, with reasonable selection of fresh Italian products in a nice an relaxing setting near Central Park. I have been here for a business lunch with my boss. Eventually I found the place very relaxing; definitely good for a casual lunch. We ordered some Italian appetizers, some pasta and mozzarella. Execution was above average for Italian standards, although the pasta al pesto was a little overcooked. I definitely recommend this place to Americans looking for a relatively authentic modern Italian diner (although those looking for Italo-American food might be disappointed). If you come from Italy I’d rather try another place, as this is no different from food you can find in many restaurants in Italy. Burrata was unexpectedly good. Give it a try

Quick business lunch in style with Italian delicacies

By GioMilano76 |

This outpost abroad of the Italian chain Obika serves very well the lunch purposes of businesses around Madison Avenue. Insalata Italian style (salads), salami and fresh mozzarella from Italy bring you to Italy for a lunch getaway. The restaurant is located within a building with glass structure therefore there is a feeling of "internal garden" very pleasant to discover. Prices in line with Nyc standards

Great Coffee!

By Katy B |

We stopped here while shopping for a quick drink of coffee, and it was excellent and priced well! Try the honey latte!

Simple, fast and good

By edotami81 |

Fresh salads are made fast and very good... the mozzarella is excellent and adds a good taste to all the dishes

Calm and quiet in the middle of Madison Ave

By Maxtango |

My son and I stopped for a very late lunch, so the office crowd had finished and it was serene and quiet in the hustle and bustle of Madison Avenue. We had White bean and Spinach Soup, an Antipasto Platter and Cooked Ham Salad w mozzarella, walnuts, berries and parmesan. Portions are ample and well presented; meats and cheeses in the Platter were delicious and accompanied with bread and a large artichoke heart, great for sharing. Unfortunately, since we were so late for lunch they had run out of the burrata, but then it's a toss-up between a calm ambience if you come late, or the clearly popular burrata if you're there earlier! Friendly, efficient and pleasant service, for which here I must make special mention of our server Brigitt.

EXCELLENT! Unusual and delicious

By thedeb W |

We were looking for a place to eat lunch on a Sunday in Midtown. We ran into this place, which we thought must be Asian by its name. It turned out to be a wonderful cafe that served Buffalo Mozzarella cheese that you could pair with various items as a tasting type of menu. We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of red wine and some creamy Buffalo Mozzarella and onion spread and prosciutto. They keep the rustic bread coming as long as you ask and the service was very attentive. I would never have thought of such an idea for a restaurant. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone!

Quick stop for morning coffee

By karina r |

The staff on Monday was so polite and professional! They made my day, they knew how to handle a grumpy costumer perfectly! Coffee made perfect, pastry beautiful!

A sophisiticated beautiful stop for lunch

By RShereff |

In the beautiful atrium behind Trump towers is this quirky mozzarella bar with great service and authentic Italian ingredients. The salads are superb, mozzarella tastings are interesting, wine and beer offerings adequate and the quality of the olive oil and other offerings impeccable. The caponata is absolutely addictive and the espresso authentic. Ambience cannot be excelled--we are very glad that we walked by and decided to look in...

Good food, nonchalant service

By H B |

Had lunch with my son, he had a good pasta dish and I took the large cheese and meat cuts platter, both of excellent quality and well prepared. Waiter service does not match the quality of the setting though since we had to ask twice for a drink at the start of the meal and then he left for his lunchbreak himself leaving it to a collegue for us to pay the bill; sloppy.

Nice food / Service very bad

By Francesco A |

I was at the obica mozzarella bar in Madison with my girl friend. The food (mozzarella/prosciutto) was good but not expectional. The service level offered to the customer is bad (waiters are slow/forget my salad/ store manager was screaming disturbing all customers). Overall good location, nice food with some areas of improvements, store manager and some waiter needs to be trained and/or to be changed immediately).

Mozzarella...yes please!

By iwannag0there |

Hard to resist cheese! We accidentally found this one, and enjoyed a mid-day cheese and beer break! It's inside one of the Trump properties, in an atrium so it was warm and protected but sunny. Italian beer & food, though the name seems more Asian (?)We had a nice snack and had fun sampling the different varieties of mozzarella- who knew?! Restroom is a walk down into the building, but clean once you get there!

Average at best

By Karsten Hillmann |

Ok buffalo mozarella but far from the best you can get, caprese with Herloim tomatoes with absolutly no taste at all, pasta pesto portion size so small it left a 10 year old hungry. Nice setting and cold beer pulled up the score to 2 of 5.

Fresh everything.

By hoteikeeper |

Flatiron district. Pasta , pizza and mozzarella. Great sampler appetizer with 3 meats, nitrates and another mozzarella. All pasta made on premises. Creative sauces and toppings. Inventive drink menu and good wine list. A bit noisy overall but very noisy at bar area. Ask for a table in the back. Superior service.

Nice Place and great service

By superlumidee |

I just came back from NY and I have been twice to OBICA and it was just a great place to stay with very good service and great food. I had the Chicken Breast stuffed with truffels etc and Pasta and the quality is perfect. I would come here everyday if it wasn't so far from Hamburg, Germany ;)

Feels like you are in Rome

By Susanna_Sm2 |

A great find in midtown for lunch. The burrata is flown in from italy weekly. Want to feel like you are in italy during your lunch break, enjoy a platter of the mozzarellas, salamis or a pasta. In a rush, sandwiches are a sure bet.

Great Place for Mozzarella!

By Andrew B |

We have been coming to Obica (8 or 10 times a year) for several years and it is a favorite place for us. The mozzarella is fresh and tasty and the selection of salumi is always good. We enjoy the staff which is polite and professional. We are especially appreciative of Kimberly who has assisted us many times. She is extremely friendly, and what we particularly enjoy, is that she remembers our preferences and is quick to ask if she can assist us by providing our favorite wine or mozzarella while also identifying specials and new items on the menu. With great food and great service, what is there not to enjoy.

Cheese lovers unite

By Samuel Sydney J |

Stumbled across this cheese bar during a rain storm. So happy we did!! Jay was our server and he made the difference. We were going to garb a sandwich to share on the go but after a little conversation we chose to sit and order some share plates. Very good service :)

regular

By cto1 |

good place beautiful bar, next to the niketown, but the food regular, the waiters clean the dishes beside the table very noise and disgusting to see it,regular price,a little disapointed .

Second visit and last

By Steve T |

Was introduced to Obica last week by some friends We had a wonderful dinner and service It was early and not too crowded Went back tonight and what a change Busy with no seats at the bar As it was just me I never like taking a table and the bar is usually better Asked the hostess if I could seat at the second bar Was rudely informed no So I left Could it be this place is just "too cool" to be concerned about customer service? Lost a happy customer

Very friendly place

By Andrea K |

I spent a solo weekend in New York and one afternoon I came across this place feeling extremely hungry. I ate a lasagna, which was really yummy but the best thing about this restaurant was the friendly good looking waiters :-))) thank you guys!!

Great food at Obica

By WandaL5 |

I enjoyed my first time at Obica. Luca and his staff provided excellent customer service. The food is fresh. They have a lunch prix fixe lunch menu for $19 that is great. They have wine glasses for $ 6 so for NYC this is fantastic! Go to Obica and enjoy.

Obica at Madison

By Betty S |

I stopped in the atrium at Madison to have a coffee and get warm after a very cold morning in New York City. At Obica, the waitress was very slow and indifferent. I paid for an expensive cup of coffee and when I got to my table I discovered that the coffee was cold and stale. A great disappointment. I don’t recommend stopping for coffee at the Obica stand.

LOVE this place

By ahebs |

After a day of shopping and crazy crowds at Christmas time, we stumbled upon this while heading down Madison. It was mid afternoon and we had 2 mozzarella balls (traditional buffalo and burrata) with fresh tomatoes and basil pesto and a glass of red wine. It was the perfect amount for two and hit the spot. Yes, the seats are close and it is somewhat noisy due to the atrium but it was a great spot to sit, relax & people watch all while enjoying great food. Will definitely return!

Best Mozzarella in New York

By Bulent A |

This is a nice place to taste nice Italian dishes during your stay in New York. It is very close to 5 th ave. Burrata Tartufo and prosciotto crudo parma were excellent with a Chardonnay. You would probably find the best buffolo mozzarellas here. The prices are moderate (app. 15 $ per dish). It worths to stop and have a break there.

Nothing great

By FRDR |

Very average food and service. The only thing nice is the location where it is (inside a glass patio). Not worth it in my opinion.

Very Tasty

By Marc M |

The bride and I went back for a second time to see if the first was a fluke. To our satisfaction the food was great again. Had the Palma with melon and brochette as appetizers and loved them. The melon is sweet as can be! Main was the Lasagna again but this time with the spinach side. The plate looked very empty without a side on the first try. The service tonight was only acceptable. The waitress was pre-occupied with conversation with her fellow employees. The bus boys were of greater service. Do NOT sit at the bar! When the doors open you will freeze. The music is not necessary it just makes for more noise and no atmosphere. The food will carry this restaurant and I am Glad we live so close so we can go often

Delicious mozzarella and pasta

By R C |

This "mozzarella bar" in the patio at 56th and Madison, serves mozzarella-based light fare, salads and pasta in a nice indoor garden setting surrounded by trees. The highlight is the mozzarella tasting menu: try the Burrata which is excellent! Pasta dishes are also very good: Trofie with pesto, Beef lasagna with ample parmigiana ... The only low point is the dessert: tiramisu is not what you expect from an Italian restaurant... Overall a very nice choice for a business lunch or lunch out with friends. Can be very crowded at lunchtime!

Excellent!

By NLDS72 |

fresh ingredients, great food and very good service! What else can you ask for? We will go back in our next visit to NYC

Great drinks and Nibbles!

By CamillaTurner |

Lovely stop whilst sight seeing around NYC! Had drinks and Small Plates at the bar which was delicious. Alex the bartender was lovely and give us some great places to visit on our trip! Can't wait to try Obica in London! Thank you

Nice... but.

By Guillermo L |

Great cheese, but be careful with portions can be to share. Great mozzarella fumatto, normal and creamy one. Tomato side orders wired serve in separate plate. Great idea, definitively its´s a GO!

Simply the best Italian experience outside of Italy

By lisacakesgreen |

Stumbled upon this place feeling hungry. Greeted and shown to a table very quickly. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. We ordered starters and mains, the bruschetta was delightful and burrata amazing. Duck rage with rosemary pappardelle was delicious and my spinach and ricotta fiorelli was too good. Since it was so good we had tiramisu and Italian chocolate cake to share afterwards. Great service, great food and one of the special places we shall remember as one of the best meals we have ever eaten on holiday.

Great Concept

By sccrref |

7 of us, some local some visitors escaped the insanity of Eataly and tried this place for the first time. Great idea. Besides wine we got a couple different Mozzarella selections (buffalo and smoked) and 2 pizzas. Superb. Fresh, cooked just right. Not very crowded but I think that's going to change. Attentive service. All 7 of us enjoyed it

Nice lunch!

By Sharon M |

Lovely mozzarella tasting lunch! A few different mozzarellas, alongside roasted vegetables with pesto, made a beautiful lunch. Very different and refreshing!

Cute spot fir drink and a light bite

By Allan S |

Some very nice. Small plates with veggies, pizza and pasta. Available to go with some wine. They do have nice Italian desserts and the prices are acceptable for this part the of town. Conveniently located near the subway and 2017-09-20-VIDEO-00000027.mp4.movmakes good meeting spot.

Good Italian food and great bufala cheeses.

By donnie1011 |

Found by luck and really hit the spot. Went with two people from Rome. Wait staff spoke Italian to them and made them feel at home. we ate dinner in little Italy last night and this was much better.

unique mozzarella bar with wonderful food

By Louis G |

located in IBM building, this bar has amazing mozzarella dishes, salads and sandwiches and a wonderful archetectual setting. The wines are good, the deserts yummy. the cominations with salamis, pastas etc make it a very different place to stop

Delizioso!

By Terri M |

My husband and I had a simple but memorable lunch at Obika on a Wednesday afternoon. The eatery's mid-town location in the IBM building's 4-story atrium was unexpectedly serene, with it's open-air but cozy garden-like ambiance created by planter (living) walls, unusual tropical plants, and magnificent bamboo plantings. We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait for a table, but the wait was well worth the panoramic view of the extended atrium area we had while we dined. Our food choices were the Grand Tasting of Mozzarelle di Bufala and the Selezione di Salumi, both of which amused our tastebuds--squisito! And, the service was, well, superb for a bistrot--not rushed while being attentative without being intrusive, which how we like it. My husband and I agreed that we 100% would dine at Obika again and tell others about our most favorable dining experience.

Exactly what we were looking for.

By Donny A |

We just got in from our flight and there were still a few hours before dinner. We were looking for something fresh and delicious. This hit the spot perfectly.

Excellent service great food but a little bit different if a menu

By PIA |

I was here for lunch and the service could not have been better every one was friendly and helpful but especially my server. No pressures to order move along etc. Took time to explain the various items on the menu. Everything I had was just wonderful. Full of flavor and very fresh. It looked to be the same with the orders of everyone else. I would definitely recommend and will be coming back. FYI atmosphere is a little bit open because the restaurant is located in the atrium of a large building but you are covered in greenery so not that bad but did want to Ashley you to the atmosphere.

Trouble on the horizon

By Heini_Freiherr_von_Haplitz |

Its a GREAT PLACE, excellent pasta, tasty vegetables, semi-good Olive Oil, not the new 2016 harvest yet, but give it a months or so. OIL got so cheap in Italy, that they should be ready to import the best, and the oil that lasts longer than 6 months. (Tuscany had the nasty fly inject offspring into 30% of the olives this summer). Anyhow, bakery stuff is good, much better than in most places in Italy. Burrata is the topist, creamy fatty version of Mozzarella, and the one to have. Access problems to the joint arose from nearness to THE GREAT DONALD inside TRUMP Tower, and access is pure harassment. At least it easier to get a table when you show up.

nice ambiance in middle of town

By Aydin Y |

one of the best mozzarella bar I have been, nice and friendly.. dont expect an italian concept but it is worth visiting.. I wish they also serve grissini..! this is my regular lunch destination in my every NYC visit! there is no restrooms anywhere near! high security of trump tower cause hassle if you need to go restroom! nearest I can find is inside of Nike town just before the security check to tower...

underwhelming to say the least

By diveydivey |

Pannini sandwiches without enough chicken to taste, one so dry they must have forgotten the mayo and the other with almost no cheese. Totally disappointing, especially considering the price. I do not recommend this place!

Chef Boyardee

By jbutterco |

The burrata al tartufo lacked personality and I'd definitely be surprised if it was served with real truffles. The pasta was straight from Chef Boyardee. And the wine list was very pedestrian and not at all anything to write home about. It's a complete waste of time to go here with so many *real* Italian options within a few blocks, notably Eataly.

real italian corner in NY!!!!!!!!!!!!

By sandro c |

the right place, for a delicious Mozzarella|||||||||||||||| good also tipical Napoli style pizza and all the appetizer in menu. very professional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obika - Nice Spot for Lunch in Midtown

By Dave A |

We love this place for lunch. It's a 'mozzarella bar', inspired by the sushi bar concept. Besides mozzarella, they have pastas, pizza, plates of roasted vegetables, excellent salumi and salads. We usually order mozzarella tasting, which is two ro three mozzarellas along with salumi and grilled vegetables with basil pesto. The mozzarella is from specific areas of Italy and each with its own special characteristics. We especially love their creamy burrata and their delicaltely flavored smoked mozzarella. Obika is located in a bright atrium in the IBM building on Madison Avenue, right behind (and connected to) Trump Tower. We always go here for lunch and we usually arrive between 11:30 and noon and never have a problem getting seated. It can be a little drafty sitting near the door in cold weather when there is a lot of foot traffic through the atrium, but otherwise, a nice setting for a casual lunch not far from Rockefeller Center and Central Park.

Service was pretty slow, order was forgotten and it was super expensive

By Tom E |

Biggest letdown in NYC. We've been to the Obica in Rome and it was amazing but this one was a pure ripoff. The waiter was super slow as well and forgot our order two times...I mean, come on. Avoid this at all costs.

Amazing sandwiches

By Steph_K_11 |

Manhattan is pretty expensive, and for a sandwich shop, this is on the high end - $10 for a sandwich, on a ciabata. However, the food is fresh, delicious, and a nice change from your average sandwich place. Coffee is just average, but it's really about the sandwiches, the salads, and the soup. They catered an event for us, and it was absolutely some of the best sandwiches I've eaten - a great pastrami on an egg bun, with cheese, which is a must try.

Great area but poor food and drinks

By purpletravelat |

This place is in Niketown which is adjacent to Trump Tower. The setting is very good as it is an oasis of tranquility with trees in an air conditioned area. The drinks are OK although the hot chocolate was one of the worst that I have tasted in New York. If you want somewhere to go and sit this is a good place to go but avoid the drinks. You can sit there without having to buy anything. Some locals where taking their own food to the tables with no problems.

Very simple, but very good

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

Been to Obica NYC a hand full of times and it`s always great. Simple food items, but always fresh and tasty. Recently took the mozarella di bufala tasting and the pesto pasta, excellent. Great place to get away from the crowds on 5th Ave. Watch out for the birds swooping above!

Decent food, but issues with the service

By MrMrsHill |

We have visited Obika restaurants in Florence and Los Angeles and the food in this New York branch was up to the same high standards, with fantastic buffalo mozzarella. Sadly, the service was not so good: when we were waiting in line to be allocated a table, a staff member tried to serve a couple who had arrived after us, then we were told there was no table for two available and would have to sit on high chairs at the bar (the only free table apparently being reserved for a party of six). We wouldn't have minded, but two people were then shown to that table - meaning that it clearly wasn't reserved for a party of six! It took a long time to get our order taken, though the waiter who did serve us was very friendly and helpful. However, the female staff member who had fobbed us off about the table, presumably a manager or supervisor, was quite snappy and critical towards other staff within earshot of customers and this detracted a bit from our experience. This was a shame as the food itself was excellent.

Just like the ones in Italy

By KelekeWahine |

We have dined at Obika in Milan and Florence, so we were familiar with the menu and offerings when we spotted the Obika inside a glass atrium on Madison Ave. It was a perfect place for an early lunch. It was quiet and uncrowded, almost like an oasis in the heart of Manhattan. We love to split the two Mozzarella balls, one of them being the smoked "affumicato" version. It has a totally different flavor than the regular buffalo mozzarella. This is a special treat to be savored and enjoyed over conversation. Don't expect a heavy meal at Obika, expect delicacy and flavor!!

Almost as good as the one in Rome

By Anna68ca |

We had late lunch at Obica. The service was a bit slow, but the food was worth the wait. We ordered three different mozzarella types to try, antipasto and prosciutto. I am a picky mozzarella lover and Obica is a place to go for people like myself. Try it!

Went here twice in four days

By cathdav |

This is a fantastic place. The mozzarella is super fresh. We had a tasting both days and loved it. Had the burrata both times and it is not to be missed

Located in a peaceful atrium. The coffee could have been better.

By Bill R |

Located in the peaceful atrium at 590 Madison. The cinnamon sticky bun was crispy and fresh. I definitely enjoyed it. I ordered a latte with caramel and it doesn’t look like they were very experienced with gourmet coffee. It was a decent roast but the milk was not steamed enough and the cup was not filled up very much.

Wiw! What a fleecing!

By Travel2030 |

Obica has great potential! Just watch every transaction as you'll be surprised by the totals on your bill. Nothing worth the trouble exists here. Our 6 person group had a 32 drink total. We challenged it and miraculously the total changed. Watch every transaction as they over charged us and gave back $60 when we flagged their game. Mediocre overall. Subprimal in terms of food/drink extortion. Watch your transactions. Expect nothing.

Best Bufalo Mozzarella in NY

By Gazoz13 |

we had lunch here on 3 different occasions and all 3 were sublime , Fresh simple and so tasty , the food is very quick and fresh, service is very good , but the star here is the Mozzarella Bufala, if you want to try the closest thing to Italy then this place is perfect, i would strongly recommend eating here, as if you are visiting NY this can be a lunch stopover , you ll see what i mean

Authentic and wonderful

By Julie G |

The food was beautiful and was similar to what you would get in Italy. I highly recommend the ravioli. Everything was cooked to the right consistency and the service from our Italian waiter was superb.

Odd location but great food

By Dan P |

Went here for a business lunch with a client at their request. It is located inside a public atrium and almost blends in with the public space, so it is hard to tell the boundaries of the restaurant. I had the tuna salad with the buffalo mozzarella pieces, the whole menu theme is mozzarella. The salad and mozzarella were excellent.

Nice atrium setting - great spot for a quick lunch

By SDTraveler01 |

Nice location in atrium w/ view of the sky and trees. Came here for lunch on my last two trips to NY. Tried the chicken Panini and a mini sampler of 2 mozarellas – one was smoky; very tasty. Next time, might try one of their salads, which looked really good.

Great food, excellent service

By Clodi L |

We have returned again and again to Obika. Food is fresh, great salads, burratas are out of the ordinary. Service was excellent, and each time we try it, we promise to come back.

Delicious Mozzarella Meal!

By Thomas M |

I was walking in New York and saw "Mozzarella Bar". Me being a huge fan of mozzarella and curious of seeing what a mozzarella bar was, I went into the restaurant and looked at the menu. I instantly knew that I was going to have dinner there. I sat down and ordered my meal and within 3-5 minutes, it was ready! I tried the buffalo mozzarella, the regular mozzarella, and the smoked mozzarella and they were all delicious. The buffalo was definitely my favorite and the other two were also very good. I was definitely not expecting to love this place when I walked in and I regret thinking that. The service was very good and the staff was very nice. I will come back to this place whenever I am back in the city and I can't wait to eat at the mozzarella bar again!

I got a Sfilatino con Speck Panini -- error

By O'Bryonville A |

We should have taken a table "inside" Obika where the menu that most people are reviewing looked pretty interesting. I goofed. Everyone sitting at an atrium table in the IBM building was on lunch break. All the tables were filled. It looked pretty nice, and so did the sandwiches available for "carry-out" to the atrium, so I ordered a panini. Once pressed and flattened, I could barely find the meat on my sandwich and the greens were only a bitter, green memory. For $9, perhaps the thinnest "Sfilatino con Speck" Panini I had ever seen.

Easy breakfast !

Visited Obica just as they were opening for the day. So the Atrium area inside the building was wide open for a quiet spot to relax. Coffee was hot and the range of fresh breakfast foods was impressive. All served with with a smile .. and fast too. Easy breakfast !

Best food I had in NYC

By Laure B |

This restaurant is not only very well located, the food is fantastic. It makes you feel like you're outside when you actually are inside, listening to birds instead of cars. The staff was friendly and helpful. Best mozzarella I ever had, even in Europe. It can get expensive really quickly though. Desert, bread, coffee, everything is excellent but a little too expensive for my taste.

A serendipitous find

By VNSaroja |

After roaming around on the 5 th Avenue, my friend and I entered the trump tower, with no expectations. Loved the atrium and spied the restaurant in the corner. Loved the ambiance, the bread, the cheese and loved the desserts we ordered - chocolate and almond cake and ricotta cheese with honey and orange.

welcoming faces, great italian cheeses

It was my shopping day . I was just ready to have a break and have a cup of coffee. Obika's green athmosphere behind the windows attracted me to go in . The symphatic greeter young lady placed me to the bar. My order was burrata and mixed italian salamis. I enjoyed that bar very much , becouse : 1- All serving people were so nice and concerned about you , or they are very professional they make you feel they really concerned about you.Greetings from here especially to Antonio , he was a great guy . 2- I love Burrata , ofcource finding my favorite cheese made me happy.(To find Burrata is not easy , even in Italy) 3- Surrounded by trees in a closed building gives you fresh feeling. 4- The manager lady has eyes on every detail , I watched her moves during my lunch , she is a real professional. 5- I gave a high tip by willing , you know why ? In NewYork I hate waitresses asking and forcing blinks as soon as you sit on a table. Here in Obika , all serve so kindly , you dont feel that pressure.

"Delicous fresh quality food"

By Julie J |

We flew in from a NZ winter and saw Obica as walking up Madison Ave and decided to partook in a 'bit of summer" Upon the expert advice of the waiter who principally recommended our meal we enjoyed delicious fresh mozarella and proscitto and olives and ....... washed down with sparkling water [too early for vino for me]. Meal was devine and we didnt leave hungry. Other diners meals looked wholesome and delicious also. Highly recommended and will return again one day [next year hopefully]

Not Japanese

By LauraBelle92 |

My boyfriend and I dined on a quiet Monday. We ordered a bottle of rose, a a taste of two mozzarellas (regular and smoked) with a side of three dips (excellent), and orders of pesto pasta. The pesto was very good. We thought that the smoked mozzarella was too strong and must be an acquired taste. The dining area was pleasant and perfect for a casual meal. The only drawback is the restroom location, which is far from the dining area.

Charming spot for a light lunch

By lchan289 |

If you are wanting something different from the usual heavier American style Italian options, Obica is a great place for lunch. It's located in the internal courtyard of the IBM building and therefore benefits from air-conditioning and the natural light you get from dining al fresco. The menu features their delicious artisanal mozzarella but also more regular items like antipasti platters, big salads, panini and a few pasta dishes. It's perfect if you want to pick at several things rather than have a big meal. We had the fresh tomato platter (which was served with fresh basil, olives and a really nice pesto), the pasta with light tomato sauce and mozzarella and the salento salad with lemon dressing and roasted almonds. All the dishes were tasty. Our meal including 2 glasses of wine came up to USD60 (excluding the tip).

Wonderful venue

The atrium of the IBM building is one of the nicest of many excellent atriums in New York City. For some reason, it always cheers me up when I come inside. Breakfast at Obica is quick, delicious and served with great good humor -- the coffee is especially good. Lunch and dinner feature the "mozzarella bar" serves mozzarella-based light fare, salads and pasta. My favorite is the Burrata; other favorites from a group I hosted included Trofie with pesto and Beef lasagna. Overall a very nice choice for a business lunch or lunch out with friends.

Lovely food & cocktails

By Annie C |

Visited with another couple after recommendation. Lively atmosphere, really nice, authentic Italian food and particularly the shared platter starter was good value for 4 of us and gave the opportunity to try lots of the starters. All the mains we ordered we very good. A nice selection of cocktails and reasonably priced. Only criticism is that the acoustics make it quite noisy. That said I’ll definitely be heading back here on my next visit to NYC.

Good food

By Luv2Travel |

If you are look for mozzarella tjis is the place. Great service, very good food. We ordered to go, the building had no air and ut was hot in there.

Just délicious !

I have eaten on 20th nov 13 At this amazing place where you can meet nice people and Mozarella is simply délicious ! Florence/Paris

Great wine, pasta - mozzarella bar underwhelming

By MLB7629 |

Wonderful fresh pasta and great wines. They open a few special bottles each night that you can order by the glass. A relatively large space for NY so very comfortable. Knowledgable and helpful waiter.

Big improvement on our last visit

By MrMrsHill |

We visited Obica when we last came to New York in 2014 and were disappointed with our experience at that time. However, this visit was a totally different experience and we really enjoyed the food and had excellent, attentive service. I had made a reservation on the day that we arrived in New York but due to traffic we were delayed. We made contact with Obica to let them know we were running last and they were really helpful and it was no trouble at all to push the reservation back. When we arrived we received really good service. The food was excellent. We went for the 3 types of Mozzarella to share with salmon and salad. Really good and nice ambience to the restaurant.

Good food, some of the food on the manu was not available

By Francesca N |

I had a half a sandwich CIABATTA POLLO and half a sandwich CIABATTA CAPRESE. Then I asked for lemon caprese tart and homemade crostata t but they didn't have any left. The food was good (the one available)

Excellent lunch spot

By Gearoid9 |

I enjoyed a great Italian lunch at Obica. Excellent service, excellent mozzarella, excellent coffee. All for under $15. I'll be back.

The real deal

By Ben |

Stumbled into this place today while walking back to our hotel in the lower east side. The restaurant looks great and the staff were very friendly. We ordered with some advice from staff. The mozzarella was incredible and my pasta was by far the best I have ever eaten. I would definitely return.

Poor quality of service

By Mavi B |

We were initially greeted by a trainee waitress. We asked for information about the menu, which she was unable to answer. So the most experienced waitress came to us for the explanation. Then we ordered, but after 40 minutes we had not yet been served. We urged the "expert" waitress who, after a brief check, replied that the "chef" had lost our order! And so we had to wait another 15 minutes, while all the other tables occupied after us were served earlier. And both waitresses seemed bothered by our requests to speed up what had to be a quick lunch! In conclusion, the quality of the food is good, but the service is very bad. There are so many other options in the area ...

Best Italian in the US

By Eausalee |

Came with my 14 years son. Was the best Italian restaurant we tried after 3 years in the US. The mozzarellas are imported from Rome and are so tasty. The pizza con porcini was just amazing. The tiramisu excellent. Great atmosphere. Can not wait to go back!

Warm welcome

By Thirdage |

We've visited Obica a couple of times now and intend to go again. It's located in a rather frenzied area so it's great to find somewhere to relax. The food is quite light and tasty. We were served by Jay who is very professional as were his colleagues. We would definitely recommend it

Causal Italian with good service and food

By Andrew C |

After you sit down and order all food--looking around and you feel you are on Tuscany--without the rowing green. You are in Manhattan. Then, this internationally successful restaurant formula do so well for a great reason. Good variety of menu choices, plus decent wine list--all make a meal to be an experience to share good Italian good--the larger the family--the better! Not to worry about the pizza crumbs drop by young kids--treat the place as your very own Tuscan farm house. Then, more shopping and museum visits at the Big Apple, or Milan, or Tokyo....

Wonderful Lunch

We went to the Flatiron location of Obica for lunch a few weeks ago and had a really delicious meal. The salads and sandwiches were wonderful and I can't wait to go back!

Mozzarella

By PMGpmg |

Mozzarella is the star at this restaurant in the atrium of the IBM building. You get the feel of a sidewalk cafe without having to sit outside in the heat. In the winter it can get a little cold if you sit by the windows, however. The service is OK. The other day I ordered an arugula salad that had some very old arugula, otherwise, everything was fine. Coffee is good, too. the clientele is very attractive - ladies who lunch types as well as business people and a few tourists. You might want to make a reservation for lunch. They also have bar seating. They can get you in and out pretty quickly.

Classy, suave NYC eaterie

Fantastic service, brilliant food and very affordable prices. The cocktail menu is also a must try! Would recommend whether just going for a drink or wanting to try some of the delicious food on offer.

Wow. Mozzarella in NYC!

By lud2006 |

Tripped across this fantastic restaurant that looks like a Sushi bar only it's mozzarella. You look at the mozzarella while you're seated at the bar. Table and chairs plus a long table and bar stools make for plenty of seating. I had a caprese salad and a side of prosciutto that made for a great lunch along with sparkling water and several kinds of bread in a basket.

Great service and freshly prepared food

By Kevin S |

Happened upon this centrally located little restaurant for lunch on Easter weekend. It’s a great spot to rest your feet, chill out, have a glass of wine, and refuel. Staff includes Frank and Carlos—both could not have been better even though they were busy. Excellent soups, very good caprese salad, fresh bread, and good red wine choices. The large open space offers a pleasant break from the bustle and noise of the streets, too. We will be back!

well known italy mozzarella in NYC...

By AngusRodrigo |

our friend from Rome introduced us to this place that had opened up locations in NYC - amazing if you love mozzarella - don't cheap out and just get the 3 ball sampler - the buretta, smokey, and normal cheese are amazing. add a glass of wine and you're good to go. we were with two kids - we split a sandwich for them and got a large salad and the cheese sampler and we were very happy people.

Great sandwiches, with limited offerings during our visit

By SWVA_Traveler |

My daughter and I had a couple sandwiches there on Sunday, July1. We ordered before noon, and they did not have the sandwiches we wanted. We then ordered a prosciutto sandwich and a bruschetta sandwich, and these were very good. The service was acceptable and friendly enough. I would recommend if you like sandwiches with fresh mozzarella. Yes, we did enjoy sitting in the atrium-like seating area adjacent to Trump Tower.

A great find- delicious salads & mozzarella

By Quimbey |

A surprise find in the courtyard of Trump Tower. Delicious salads with pesto and different mozzarella selection. Add their Italian spritz and it made for a great late lunch.

Great place for a drink or quick meal

By BobStamford |

Very Italian, great staff, we just called in for a drink, but they were friendly and helpful. We were not hungry but the food looked good. Near the Flat Iron building and better than other eating/drinking places we have found near there.

Attractive atmosphere but mediocre food

By Bucky6478 |

Obica has a number of positive attributes - namely decor, atmosphere, and service. However, the food teally missed the mark and was fairly disappointing. While you can appreciate the attempt to serve authentic Italian fare and have high quality and varied cheese and wine selection, several items we tried were surprisingly bland. Specifically, the eggplant parmigiano appitizer and the Porcini pizza were completely forgettable and the latter was relatively undercooked and the wheat dough really doesn't work. However, the Branzino was delicious and sizable portion. Will not be going back.

Mozzarella Paradise

By Dan G |

Obika is stellar. It's also a good deal, compared to the prices of its counterparts in Italy and Asia. Few places offer this quality of tangy, rich, creamy buffalo mozzarella that oozes bliss. The closure of this block of 56th street, which Obika's building shares with Trump Tower, means that even foot traffic to Obika has thinned. Result: much easier to score a table or seat at the bar for a sublime lunch.

Dropped in to escape the cold, discovered a real treasure

By Sally K |

Last December (2016), we were very cold from walking around looking at the department stores' beautifully decorated holiday windows. We spotted the Obica Mozzarella Bar on Madison and decided to check it out. It was warm and cozy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a marvelous squash soup garnished with burrito mozzarella, and the caprese salad was delicious. Check out the website; they have quite a few locations.

Obica

By Kathy M |

We happened to come across this restaurant when the one we were going to was closed. Great atmosphere and service. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto. So delicious! We had the special of the day which was the gnocchi with shrimp, also delicious! I thought the serving portion was great but my husband was a tad hungry still afterwards. He enjoyed it just the same. Would definitely go back!

Perfect mid-morning coffees and nibbles

By AnneOD |

In the heart of mid-town, Obicà Mozzarella Bar is located in the bright and airy atrium of a mid-town building on Madison Avenue. We enjoyed some excellent coffees, juices and small nibbles/pastries mid-morning and found the counter service to be friendly and prompt. Great spot to take a break from shopping, sightseeing or meetings - while watching the world go by.

"Here it is!' A little magic from Naples, Italy

By Mjwinkusa |

There is much to like and savor in this warm and welcoming spot - a fact that will have you coming back again and again. From small plate specialties like Carponata alla Siciliana, Bruschette with creamy burrata and delicious bufala mozzarella - to a selection of mouth watering entrees. Finish off with a house favorite, Crocca Semifredo - you will thank me. Inventive cocktails, a robust wine list and a service staff second to none make this a must visit for food lovers the world over. Bon appetite!

Convenient location, very friendly service

By pieroinusa |

A hidden treasure, this place is perfect for a quick bite (they have a good selection of great sandwiches, perfect coffee, good sweet treats). Sit down area is a bit challenging, in the bar or in the covered plaza, as it gets very crowded. But it is worth the wait. Service is excellent; fast, welcoming, friendly (and with Italian greetings).

great place for IBMers

if you need to relax after a busy day, you can go to Obica and try delicious italian-style sandwiches, delicious!

A calm oasis at the back of Trump Tower

By John G |

We popped in to this calm oasis at the back of Trump Tower following a busy morning exploring the Upper East Side and Midtown areas of Manhattan. I'd never been to a mozzarella bar before and wasn't too sure what to expect. My mozzarella loving vegetarian fiance was keen so we gave it a try! I was pleasantly surprised - a huge selection of (you've guessed it) mozzarella and accompanying dishes to choose from, I went for a thinly sliced beef and smoked mozzarella pairing which was delicious. The staff were fun and friendly and the food was excellent value. We could have stayed here for a while enjoying a beer and calmly watching the world go by through the window.

Great Service

By Looness33 |

Quaint beautiful little spot with the best Burrata. The owner was wonderful and the service was very personable.

TO DIE FOR

By Paige R |

Great great place! The staff was really nice and suggested some good dishes. The burrata was incredible as was the prosciutto and the lasagna. The tiramisu and truffle pizza were also good. Already thinking about returning!
