So Incredibly Good!!!!

By djviajera |

My husband and I went there for the first time a few days ago while visiting from out of state. We had no idea we were adding a "must go" place to our list. This was most likely the best Mediterranean food we have had in years, and the service was very good too. My husband had the mix grill platter with fries and chickpea mixed with spinach. I had the chicken shawarma platter with fries and the greek salad, both platters come with warm pita bread. We were honestly impressed by the quality of the food, portions and the great mix of flavors. They also served us two pieces of complementary freshly baked baklava...to die for. We'll definitely be back :)

Great food and great value!

We just had dinner at Omar’s and I have to say, it was just fantastic! Our server offered us a complimentary plate of eggplant and a basket of fresh pita as a starter before our meal was served. I ordered fhe chicken schwarma and our party ordered chicken kabobs. All entrees came with a choice of 2 side dishes and a small salad. The food was absolutely delicious! If you are searching for great Mediterranean food at great value, be sure to visit Omar’s!

Good

We stumbled upon the place when we went for Juma prayers to the mosque which is on top of this restaurant. It was lunch time and there was a long queue outside. We had the doner kebab from here and it was good.

Great find in Midtown

I had to double-check if I had the right restaurant when I read the negative reviews. There were four of us that thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. And to top it all the bill came which was very reasonable for New York City.

Great Mediterranean in mid town Manhattan

Amazing chicken Schwarma and hummus. Super quick. I was surprised that you order as soon as you enter but servers were quite helpful.

What a GREAT SURPRISE

By Thomas I |

I'm not a fan of Mediterranean cuisine but Omar's is next to the hotel where I was staying and I needed a quick bite before the theater. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! The food was fresh and tasty and excellent. The staff could not have been more friendly. What a surprise!! I will definitely go back again, and again.

Yumazing

My first visit and I am hooked. The food had such good flavor and very generous portions. We shared a specialty selection - Omar’s Signature Dish Mixed Grill Meat Kebob, served with Rice & Eggplant Turkish Salad -delish

Horrible Place! Please stay away

By Kashif C |

Went with family, Order several dishes - chicken adana kabab, Lamb Adana, Shuarama and few other dishes, Food was horrible! and over priced. If you take a bite from an other serving , say from your friend, wife, you ordered on table they charge $5!! Yes it is true and extremely unprofessional. Highly recommend to stay away from this place! Totally disappointed and Rip off!

Great shawarma place

By hermwinningham |

I routinely pass by this place when on business travel in the area, and this has become a go-to takeout stop when I need lunch on the run. Chicken shawarma is fantastic, and the small piece of baklava they provide is buttery and delicious. On the down side, I would stay away from the "fries"--they are more like soggy home fries, and came cold the one time I ordered them.

Just Ehhhhh

If you need Mediterranean and are nearby, it's fine. I am nearby and on occasion I get this. kebab and Shawarma are regularly overcooked and not fresh. can be moderately disappointing at times. There is one regular server on the quick service counter that is extraordinarily unpleasant. Hummas and other sides are fine.

Great Place for lunch or dinner

By nara501 |

Absolutely delicious food. And the service was excellent. The quantities served were humongous and lasted the two us for two meals! I would rate this as excellent value for money given New York costs. Highly recommended.

Omar's

My first thought upon entry was "wow Anthony Bourdain would've loved this place," and I don't know if I can give a higher compliment. I can literally visualize and episode of Parts Unknown being filmed in here. Just quality Mediterranean food without doing too much and without all the extra fluff. The quality of food, the engaging staff and just the interior make me feel like I am having a home cooked meal. I got the Lamb Adana platter with rice and mixed greens because I am an elite level athlete and need to treat my body as such. The BEST fast casual option for food when in Midtown East. Very good taste of Mediterranean served by rude waitress

By Softaildeluxestu4ever |

The food was very good but waitress seems to be bother by everyones needs. We were there at 12:45ish, their hummus and baba were excellent. Tabouli was a bit old but the flavor was there. When you eat Mediterranean you need plenty o water but seem to the very difficult to get.

Delicious- perfect for a local meal; party of 9; Location on 55th

By Cyndi-Ryan |

We always see lots of locals going in and out - mostly for take out. We have been dying to try it and it did not disappoint. They seated our party of 9 immediately and we all ate a variety of food with generous portions. The server was managing several table alone, but she did so with ease and politeness. She even gave us complimentary baklava. We really enjoyed our dinner and can't wait to order take-out next time we are in town. The greek salad was probably the best I've ever had. Some of our party thought the falafel was slightly spicy for them... everything was delicious!

Fantastic!

I could have eaten a bowl of the hummus alone. Food was tasty and authentic and waitstaff was excellent. Skip the tourist traps and go here instead ... not too off the beaten path and definitely worth the trip!

Best Chicken Shwarma ever.

By steve w |

Wow. Amazing Chicken Shawarma plate. Hummus and everything beyond great! I had the salad, hummus and chicken shawarma. Can't go wrong with any of them.

This is a tough one

By adelZman |

I want to be fair to the place. We had lunch here. The wait staff were very friendly and pleasant. The menu is focused with your choice being between 3 types of meet presented with little variation. Presentation looked good. If you’re a casual consumer of Mediterranean food then you will like the taste and enjoy everything. On the other hand if you grew up with this food you’re going to be disappointed. Minor issue is the place’s split identity. The menu names suggest Turkish but the music playing was Arabic but let’s not split hairs.

Absolutely yum yum yum

By Elyse M |

Me and my brother stopped in for lunch. I quick service line set up where you pick what you'd like and your toppings and then sit down and enjoy. It is not the same feel as a Chipotle line or something like that. You can see the meats slow cooking right in front of you. The food was amazing! I would seriously eat this every single day! I will definitely be returning next time I'm in NYC

Delicious, flavorful and quick!!!

Delicious, flavorful and quick!!! That's one wonderful combination you rarely come across. The limited menu helped the quick service and there were enough number of staff to make it quick enough! A must try place of you live Mediterranean food!!

Forget this place

By 94DavidC |

At lunch, the restaurant was busy. It was very cold. I asked the waiter if they could turn on some heat. He said they did, but nothing changed. I finally put my overcoat and scarf back on. Other patrons did the same. Service was S-L-O-W. We asked several times where was our food. Finally it arrived, and it was C-O-L-D. I told the waitress and she said she would being some hot food. That never arrived. My friend offered to buy lunch, because he said he knew if I paid I wouldn't leave a tip. He was right. Forget this place. Arrogant, bad service + cold food = don't go.

Our first night in New York I felt like Mediterranean food. After much deliberation we agreed on this restaurant we were welcomed in a very friendly manner. Service was quick food was excellent no regrets. We enjoyed our medal here tremendously and would nog hesitate to return. The down side it closes at 8.00 pm we were lucky we got there at 6.30 pm

Good value and walking distance to Summit One

Great portions and flavours. The mixed grill / chicken shawarma was amazing. Staff were super accommodating to the dietary requirements we had.

Great Mediterranean Arabic food

By Talal A |

I was happy to find such restaurant in NYC. The restaurant serves good choice of salads and starters (mezas). The grills and shawarma are very delicious and comes with various side dishes. Great value for money.

Delicious middle eastern food

By Dubaidude |

Quick, efficient service with delicious food. The kafta kabobs were amazing and the hummus is better than 90% of the places I have eaten at.

Halal! Delicious!!

By TravelwithLadyblush |

Huge portion at a reasonable price. Excellent location for halal food lovers. Nice ambience, the waitress was polite and clean the tables fast.

Excellent spot

Terrific spot (went to E 55 location). Shawarma was excellent. Added eggplant which was likewise great. Some places are popular for a reason - this is one of those places.

Split an Order?

By Mark M |

Portions for college football players. They have enough experience that they already have pricing for sharing a meal. The food is terrific. You’ll be pleased you spit the meal and left room for dessert. Very comfortable for take out or for dining in.

Solo

It was a very pleasant dinner, the food is so good and the plater’s portion was more than enough. I advice every NY visitor to try it.

Freshly prepared. Reasonable

By miles28 |

Freshly prepared. Reasonable price by NY standards. They are Halaal and right next to a mosque. Friendly staff.

Terrible experience !!

By sonalim |

Went to get a take away for lunch - ordered the chicken adana kabab (close to $16 which is quite expensive for a lunch) but when I got back to my office, I found out that the chicken was under cooked. Under no circumstances am I going to eat chicken that is not fully cooked and ended up trashing the entire lunch. The next time I went back to pick up a salad, I mentioned my experience to the person behind the serving counter. Someone who looked like he could be one of the chefs came out and spoke to me in a derogatory manner. Later that afternoon I called the manager, Marek - he wasn't half interested in what I had to say. I guess business is good for Omar's or else they would have certainly tried to realize that feeding a customer under cooked chicken or being rude is totally unacceptable. No apologies whatsoever. Well, that's it for Omar's for me !!

Worth the walk!

The Barbecue chicken platter is so good! Portions are large bring your appetite! Wait staff was attentive and added a nice touch to the good food.

Food that brings back memories!

By MNM1011 |

We were quickly greeted and seated and seemingly in no time we had our meal: a Kaufta Kabob platter which we split. It came with two sides which we chose: hummus and a greek salad. There were three perfectly seasoned kabobs tasting like kabobs we used to get in Istanbul. The Greek salad was full of fresh ingredients and oh so tasty! The hummus was perfect...easily the best we've had in years! What an incredible meal! Our server was Krissy and she was excellent! We can't wait to return for more!

Delicious!

We stopped in for lunch and everything was delicious! I highly recommend the chicken sharwarma pita and the hummus!

Perfect late afternoon takeout

By Flyer89223 |

We just got into town and looked for a light mid-afternoon bite. As we love Mediterranean food, Omar’s caught our attention. We ordered a veggie combo platter to go for the two of us to share and were pleasantly impressed and delighted. It comprised falafels, baba ganoush, tabouli, hummus, two small pitas, tahini, a super tangy hot sauce, and a little piece of sweet pastry - all freshly prepared and quickly packaged. With a smile.

Great food and service

By Jeff R |

By far one of the best places we ate at during the trip. I highly recommend the chicken shawarma there. It was so great. A must see place.

Disgusting 🤢 food. Don't try it

By Ahmad B |

To start with. We ordered 8 meals. None of us ate the food. Simply it was Cold Uncooked well Spices where not cooked Rice bad Potato was cheap kind disgusting Chicken kabobs was not well cooked Salads was addressed with cooking oil instead of olive oil ( because it's a cheaper) I paid $30 plus tips for for food which I hardly ate two spoons. It was the worst food I have ever had in my life. Please do go there. Mac KFC or even the small Vans parked in the new York city there food still way better and cheaper.
