We live near Oscars but never went there until a friend took us. What a great find! We wound up returning a week later. Everything on the menu sounded good - it was hard to choose. We had the Mac and Cheese and the chicken stew. Both delicious. And we sat in the outdoor area on Hudson Street where, even as the rain came down, it was comfortable and pleasant. A great experience overall. We shall return!

We needed a quick meal before the show at the Cherry Lane Theater around the corner, and Oscar's was convenient. It turned out to be a good choice. It's kind of small and crowded inside, but we enjoyed our meal outside, where most diners sit when the weather is nice. We each ordered chicken with avocado, mozzarella, lettuce and mayo dressing on a Italian bread. We were pleased, it was very tasty. The coffee was a little bitter, but our dining experience was fine.

Wanted a quick brunch and stumbled upon Oscar's Place. Fantastic find although on the small cramped side. This did not put us off and I'm pleased we tried. Coffee delicious, eggs and salmon best I've had in New York. My son had the Strawberry waffle which was demolished and my daughter fruit and toasted ciabatta with Nutella. We all thoroughly enjoyed and received excellent, friendly service. Had the weather been a little warmer, we would have sat outside which we would have enjoyed more as seemed lovely non touristic area.

My nephew Alex found this great spot. Great fresh cod 'Fish 'n Chips'. The food and service was great. Fresh, fresh food and great service. Real chips not french fries. Small place - nothing fancy (former Petite Abeille location) For Seafood lovers there is a lot of choice.

My daughter and I had breakfast there. It’s a small place but you can eat outside weather permitting. We had the berry French toast. Perfect! Crispy outside not soggy in the inside. Great service , great food.

Quaint little place. The proper English breakfast looked great. My husband had the English breakfast omelet and loved it. I had the french toast and it was really tasty.

We were thrilled to have omelets prepared in omelet pans, not on a grill like so many restaurants trying to cut corners. I had a very tasty special omelet of the day with goat cheese and asparagus. My husband enjoyed an omelet with many kinds of meat. These were plates with the mashed potatoes of the day, a creative twist to hash browns. The day we were there the mixture included leeks, and had a very refreshing taste. The bread served was very crusty and very fresh. My husband really enjoyed the coffee. I think it is a terrific diminutive place for brunch, and we reviewed the menus for lunch and dinner and there were entrees ranging from mussels to steak and kidney pie...a melange of cuisines. Give it a try. We saw that there were take out orders, but brunch is really meant for hanging out! One could have a mimosa or wine or beer with the brunch.

This was a great place in Greenwhich Village - where you can enjy a family supper with clams, fih & hips and spaguetti meatballs - Spanis speaking staff and very friedny and helppful - offering from nice wine to Legos - very reasonable price and great relations price/quality!!

My partner and I are travelling from the UK and wanted a full English before a long day of walking around NY. We were not disappointed by the quality of the food and the location; the food was delicious and the location was quaint and charming!

We were treated to a delicious breakfast at Oscar’s. The owner Neil (Oscar’s dad) took great care of us, even happily agreeing to take our photo. Waffles with strawberries & cream. eggs Benedict, delicious hot tea we’re all highlights, along with the service. Should we make our way back to the Village lunch or dinner in the future, we will absolutely return!

Oscar's Place is off the beaten path and not in the middle of the tourist area. Grab an outside table and you won't be bombarded with lots of traffic or pedestrian noise. The mussels are wonderful as is the trout almondine. Great desserts as well. The wine list is small, but reasonably priced.

Laid out with the efficiency of a schooner, Oscars whips up English and Belgian classics. Laid back vibe with I rushed service.

We went for dinner and it being warm inside and no one but staff we sat outside even though rain threatens. Umbrellas have some cover. Took awhile to get our wine and order take. Our neighbor sat for like 20 mins with no order taken. Others had their table uncleared for 40 mins. Later they said something was amiss In the kitchen and after my partner asked they offered two glasses of wine on the house. Eventual bill only had one glass removed. The mussels app were delicious and hot. Half roasted chicken very good fried excellent. It did rain, quite hard but no one came out to offer moving us. Apparently The owner Oscar was not there being July 4th. Perhaps would be different. Inside I saw the kitchen in behind a counter as if this began as a coffee shop. All in all would return with the caveat of service.

First of all a heads up, this place is small, so don't arrive expecting a whole load of room. That being said this is an outstanding British spot for breakfast. Being English I miss a good full English breakfast and this place nails it! An excellent fry up with a mug of PG Tips. Life is really really good. Sausages are like proper English sausages, and they have proper bacon, not the American streaky stuff that they seem to love over here. Mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoe and 2 fried eggs with toast. Good bread! Thick and white and not the sweet American stuff we seem to always have! Seriously this was delicious! The owner (I think) a British guy is probably one of the friendliest of men, he was lovely! If you are English, if you are feeling homesick, hungover, in need of TLC come here!

This little spot has the best soup and half-sandwich combo in the city: fresh hot or chilled homemade soups daily and a yummy chicken-and-avocado-on challah that can’t be beat! Or if spicy tuna’s more your style, that’s here and it rocks, too. You’d do yourself a favor by ordering a side of fries here—they’re superb!

Perfect place for brunch with family and close friend. Tiny place but perfect ! the presentation and the service are fast! please don't remove the salad or the mash potatoes from your brunch ... does are excellent ! I will recommend to my friend ! the home bread is perfect to wait until to food come in!

My fiancé and I are in Manhattan for the week and we stumbled upon this superb restaurant. We absolutely love this place! It's a unique mix of English & Belgian cuisine. The Atlantic omelet, filled with smoked salmon, tomato & sour cream is delicious! The tomatoes seasoned over night in lemon and vinegar are to die for; I plan on trying them myself when I get home to London. The ambiance is great. Neil Smith, who runs the show, made our visit feel unique with his friendly personality and great sense of humour. The pricing of the food is very fair, considering the terrific quality and the location of the restaurant. We will definitely be returning.

Owner/Chef Delicious Fish Chips Lobster Noodles Mules Frites Fish of the Day Red Snapper Tuna Sea Bass... Salads Beef Casserole and Breakfast too! Excellent!

My husband and I walked to the Village from TriBeCa . We were stopping here and there reading menus. Outside Oscar's were two women and a dog . One of them told us that this place was delicious. We took her word for it and went inside. It's not fancy but very cosy. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad, mushroom soup, salmon with red pepper sauce, sautéed vegetables, and mashed potatoes of the day( with leeks). My husband had fish and chips. Our meals were prepared in the small kitchen which is open to the restaurant. There is one pleasant waiter, one cook, one dishwasher/deliveryman, and one bathroom. The place is modest . The food is incredible. Everything is freshly prepared. My husband said his fish and chips were amazing. My salmon was delicious. We would definitely go back

Lovely owner, quick and pleasant service. Great food - best home made Mac and Cheese. Kids friendly, high chair, games, books and food

What a nice restaurant. Enough choice of different types of dishes. We chose 2 English main courses. The service is smooth and helpful. The portions are fine and the food is delicious. We sat inside where it was cozy.

Great neighborhood cafe' for a bite to eat. Traveled the world and one of the best omlets I've had (the "Atlantic") and good service. Very tiny and cramped but the few tables outdoors offer great people watching. Food is very tasty and coffee is what it should be. Been twice and great both times.

We ate at Oscars on our second day in NYC and it was well worth the 20 minute walk from our hotel. The owner was very friendly and we bonded over being Brits! The croiswich with ham and cheese was delicious and my husband and daughter enjoyed their eggs and waffles respectively. Although small the bistro is very clean and has a good ambience. It was busy and deservedly so as service and prices were also very good. We have just put a deposit down on a puppy and wanted to give it a name to reflect our trip. Like the owner we will soon be proud parents to Oscar!!

I like the selection of British beer here. Some dishes are better than others. The mussels are amazing as with other British dishes like fish and chips or bangers. The chicken not too much and overcooked, I would just go for casual food like burgers and such. It’s a really small place so seating may be limited especially during colder months when outside seats are gone.

Went to Oscar's Place for Father's Day brunch, and it was a great experience! The place, on Hudson Street in the West Village, is quite small, with indoor and outdoor tables. We sat inside, but didn't feel cramped. Service was attentive. Although they serve British and Belgian food, we stuck with pretty standard brunch/British fare. Eggs Benedict, a full English breakfast, and coddled eggs were all prepared well, and the mashed potatoes with leeks were a very tasty addition.A great beer menu, offering Boddingtons and Old Crafty Hen, among many others. Want to go back and try the fish and chips. Hop, skip, and a walk to the new Whitney Museum made for a lovely Father's Day.

It's a tiny restaurant on the Hudson st where we had our lunch. It's quite small but with a lot of atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. The freshly squeezed orange juice was one of the best I ever had! The croque tuna melt was lovely. Recommended.

Tiny, cozy, perfection. Oscar's Place is just the kind of charming little place you hope to discover in Greenwich Village. Amongst the menu items you will find here are world-class mussels in white white, a great beef stew and what I consider the best burger in town. Not to mention the amazing authentic Pomme Frites. ( Say no to other places frozen fries ! ). I love their chicken stew and they even offer a burger made with salmon ! Breakfast choices are superb and the waffle with strawberries is heaven on earth. I have been enjoying this little charming "hole-in-the-wall" cafe' for years. It's our favorite go-to place for a quiet dinner and a glass of wine ( or Belgian beer ).

The omelets are marvelous. The waffles were also very good. It is a little hole in the wall but I would highly recommend it. Have a limited selection but each omelet is more than good. You cn also get and egg-white omelet.

All the food is good here, but the grilled calamari is wonderful. Their Belgian Waffles are super, too. It's a small space, but has a charming outdoor seating area. Good variety on the menu.

We always love going here and we love to sit outside because it’s so quaint and has such a nice View. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere. The food is very Good. Plus the daily specials are a nice edition. Good food that is reasonable. The wines are good also! We Love it highly recommend it

I went for a breakfast, there's an English kind and other freshly made light options. Seems like a great place to hang out with friends at the evening, for beer too.

Great little place. Had breakfast there a couple of days, full English then Omelette the next time. Oh PG Tips too made m morning

Our second visit to Oscar’s—once again stopping in for a refreshing soda and some snacks. We first came in 2024, and after returning to New York in October 2025, we knew we had to come back. The place is charming and cozy, and the service truly is the best in town! The owner is always there, and he’s one of the friendliest people you could ever meet. We didn’t have full meals on either visit, but we did have fries both times—and based on those alone, I can say they’re some of the best I’ve ever had! Thank you for the wonderful work you do and for keeping such a lovely place. We’ll definitely be back!

Lunch of Hudson Omelet, Fish & Chips, Purist Waffle w/side of Bacon. Coffee. All truly OUTSTANDING! Great friendly service, neat ambiance and prime location. Highly recommend!

Oscar's Place is little more than a hole-in-the-wall; cramped and cluttered, and none too clean. Average food is served at inflated prices.

Our children are the pickiest in Earth and when she tried Oscar’s place fried chicken and waffles she said -“ …this is the best food in the whole trip.”

Stopped off here for breakfast. Fantastic service, friendly and quick. Food was fantastic and good value.

My friend and I stumbled upon this tiny restaurant on our way to lunch. So glad we stopped in. The food was delicious and fresh and the service was wonderful. We voted it our new favorite lunch spot. The place is tiny so getting a table might be a challenge but worth the wait,

This is EXACTLY what is missing in the collapse of the West Village. This is a delicious neighborhood restaurant. Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Literally everything is delicious. Insanely good mussels, beef stew, salads, omelettes, Mac & cheese, French onion soup, English breakfast with REAL Cumberland sausages, HP Sauce etc. The owner, Neil, a Brit expat, is a delight, as are Trinidad & the chef ( who's name I forget ) working dinner are lovely. We'd be lost in this corporate and overly fussy neighborhood without Oscars. Support your individually owned businesses. So important. We love this place and have gone here for years. We'd have to move if they closed.

It is easy to pass by this tiny restaurant on Hudson Street in the Village, but if you did, you would miss an interesting experience. Not a diner, not a bistro, it's hard to characterize the menu. Some English food, some Belgian food, some others as well. If you are in the neighborhood, you will find it to be a cozy neighborhood cafe with tasty food--nothing special, but nothing bad either.

We stumbled across this place having not booked dinner. We weren't sure it looked too promising but we're very hungry and decided to give it a go. We were well rewarded as the food was the best we had in NYC. A fairly limited menu of classics but absolutely delicious and good value too. A nice atmosphere and attentive staff.

My wife and I stumbled upon this little place as we walked from the 9/11 memorial to the High Line. We first noticed outside, it sold Tetley tea, and as it was a really cold day, couldn't resist it. Upon entering, could not believe how many tables could fit in a such a small area. We looked at menu and both decided on the potato and leek soup which came with 4 massive chunks of bread. Was delicious. lovely friendly atmosphere, great menu, for such a small place, had a nice chat with the owner/ waiter, and all other jobs he did, about new york, 9/11 which he witnessed. If you are ever in the area, give this little place a look, you wont be disappointed

Oscar is the son of Neil, the owner of this charming, homey and very reasonably-priced boite in the West Village. Crave home-cooking? Every appetizer and entree here is cooked to order and comfort food. The burgers and chicken pie are great, but super-sweet mussels offered three ways and the fries they come with are superb. In the winter, it’s cozy; in warmer weather it’s lovely to dine streetside and watch the neighbors and visitors stroll by. Relax and enjoy.

Stumbled upon this cozy restaurant on July 4th. The place is tiny inside so my friend opted to dine al fresco. Ordered the Eggs Benedict which came with a side of mashed potatoes and green salad. Tasty and hardy. My friend had no issues with her classic English breakfast. Service was quick and efficient. Would love to come back to try the fish and chips and chicken pie.

My husband and I went there for an early dinner (before 6PM) and the place was empty except for another couple. We had delicious mac & cheese and chicken pot pie with a bottle of wine. Service was fast and food wonderful. The inside is very small, but there are tables outside in nice weather. Hudson St. is not as noisy and crowded with pedestrian and vehicular traffic as other Village streets, so eating outside is pleasant. Try the mussels also! We'll definitely go back.
Great lunch!
Had a great experience here - stopped for lunch whilst on a walking tour. Service was very attentive, food was very tasty and they accommodated our three children's needs very well. Was quite small and it was a very hot day so we sat inside! Would thoroughly recommend.
