Right near the heart of everything Theater related. Close to 42nd Street, Times Square, and other tourist locations. Extensive Italian choices all scratch made and just wonderful. I had the Soup de jour which was a barley based hearty soup that was just ideal. Shared a very tasty and perfectly prepared pizza that was just enough to save room for dessert. The apple tart with cinnamon ice cream was a real treat, I chose the chocolate mousse with fresh blackberries and it was amazing. If your time permits this is a “special place”. They do serve pre-show dinners and after show hours as well. Very enjoyable.🍷👏

Nice restaurant with good Italian food a short distance from Broadway theaters. Pasta and chicken dishes were well prepared. A good option for theater goers.

First class family Italian restaurant with excellent service and modestly priced bottles of wine. Venetian inspired menu superbly executed. We will return when in theatre district for the authentic atmosphere and great food. Well managed, great vibe. It’s a keeper.

My wife are investors in Dogecoin and are avid fans of the doge memes. We went to this restaurant and there were no doges. Not one Shibe. Not even a friggin poster of it on the wall. Instead we got Italian food, and it was bloody expensive. We could have saved the time and ordered it on GrubHub if we weren't going to get the doges.. But GrubHub sucks.

A wonderful Italian restaurant in the theatre district of NYC. The setting is cozy with comfortable seating and a warm decor. The service is excellent and the food was delicious. Our waiter inquired about theatre tickets and thus ensured that we could enjoy both a leisurely dinner and be out in time for the show.

Service was quick and friendly. Wait staff very informative. Food was a small portion but filling and tasty. Drinks were good, little overpriced but what do you expect for Manhattan. Overall, very nice experience before we watched a broadway show. Place is well decorated as well.

A nice Italian restaurant in Times Square. Very pleasant and attentive service. Good dishes and desserts. It's worth seeing.

To avoid sandwiches and the usual super calorie things we decide to go to this place that was referred to as very good... Entering the door opens with difficulty and the staff does not even deign to help... no one speaks Italian but you can not expect this being abroad rightly... we are served in a bit 'hasty and abrupt, asking for information is answered badly and as if the waiter did not have time to listen to my question! Pizza and fried squid good nothing to say but when paying the bill I decide not to leave tips because the service had not been up to any percentage of tip... I pay and the waiter who had responded badly chases me and FORCES ME TO LEAVE HIM THE TIP... I know that we Italians are seen badly for tips but if I feel good I leave it gladly.... BAD BEHAVIOUR

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. The local is perfect for dinner before or after a show. Food is excellent and the service was great even though our waiter was very perfunctory. ( he was all business and was adequate but not friendly).

Have been here, many, many, many times, people who work there are all great anf the food and drinks are wonderful!!!!!

I had a pre-matinee lunch here with a friend - and it was the easily best Italian food I have had in NYC! We shared the Fritto Misto as a starter and then one of us had the Veal Scalopini and the other the Lemon Sole - both divine. Cooked to perfection. The service was impeccble - and a special thanks to our waiter Tiago, who was on top of everything, and a delight to talk with - we felt very seen and special! Also we were greeted by the owner with warmth and a great smile! Would highly recommend this restaurant, and we will be going back many more times!!

This restaurant was just one block form our hotel and found it just walking by . We stopped and asked if we could make reservations for that evening and the host was gracious and said no problem . When we returned for our reservation the host remembered us and took us directly to our table . Our first time to this very comforting restaurant, the decor is very Italian . The server did not rush us and was very pleasant with all our questions. The food was excellent , on the menu was Burrata with Beets and we asked if we could have fresh tomatoes instead of beets . Ohhh it was delicious , but we could have had more tomatoes they were that good . The salad was beautiful , the pasta with Italian sausage and broccoli was very good and very filling, the ravioli delicious and the pasta in red sauce was so good my dinner mate loved it . The choice of white wine was excellent and the server was so impressive . Very lively atmosphere .

Well, it's a mixed bag. Close to theatre district, and quick service, make it a solid choice when you're on a schedule with a show involved. The food was mixed though. Apps I was pleased with: Calamari fritti was pretty good, and prosciutto and Mozz was very good too. Mains, not as good. Teens had pizza, and, well, we're spoiled I guess with good pizza parlors near us. I think the lesson is don't order pizza in an Italian restaurant that doesn't have a real pizza oven. Ends up tasting like frozen one reheated. The chicken dishes we had (Special and the one with Lemon from the menu) were both good, albeit a tad on the bland side. Dessert (chocolate Lava cake) was very good, with real good Cinnamon ice cream, but $14 seems out of line.

Beautiful restaurant and amazing food that was very fresh. Service was very friendly. Highly recommended !

I was in the city on business, so I dined alone at the bar. The bartender was friendly and conversational without being overly chatty. I felt very welcome as a solo diner. My pasta dish was amazing! I ate every morsel and thoroughly enjoyed it! Atmosphere was lovely and it seemed to be filled with local couples out for a mid-week meal with friends. Highly recommend!

The service was great...the food okay...but "barely warm" pasta is not what we enjoy. A bit disappointing.

We had dinner after a Friday night show at the Belasco Theater across the street. We were seated immediately, the staff was very professional and informative about the menu and the food was excellent. Try the Franciacorta on the menu. A great brut sparkling wine that paired well with the .seafood appetizer ( grilled octopus) and the linguine with clams and garlic wine sauce and salmon ravioli entrees. It is a small ,authentic Northern Italian restaurant and it was not at all noisy for an after -theater dinner.

This has become our go- to choice for pre-theatre dining. It is an attractive, well-run restaurant that will see to it that you make your curtain time. We reserved for 6:00 PM so that we wouldn't have to rush through dinner. My daughter and I both ordered the soup of the day. It was chickpea soup, and it was outstanding! We enjoyed our selections from the wonderful bread basket, which had five different kinds to choose from. My daughter ordered the shrimp risotto, and I had the spaghetti with clams. She tried the creme brulee for dessert. Our waiter was so efficient. The food came out quickly. Empty dishes were removed immediately. It really operates like a well- oiled machine. It is an attractive space, with pretty light fixtures and candles on the table. We were greeted by just about everyone who works there, from the hostess to the Maitre d'to the other waiters. It does get noisy in the busy pre-theatre period. This is a great find that I heartily recommend!

This was our first trip back to New York for 5 years. We have eaten at Osteria Al Doge several times and always find it to be reliable. It is open all day, serving good Italian food. On this occasion we ate around pre-theatre time, so it was particularly busy, but still very good.

It’s never easy to find a place to have an enjoyable good dining experience in the theater district where meals are often expensive, tasteless, and service rushed. West of Broadway the most reliable and pleasant meal you will have is at Osteria al doge. The other night five of us went before theater and we had the expected very good meal at a reasonable price with choices for all my picky friends. Best of all, was the way we were treated by staff— all the waiters, the bartender, and the manager on duty. We had misjudged the time of our show, and had to return to wait at a time when the restaurant was humming. No problem at all! They found us a place at the bar, served us the dessert we had eyed but thought we had not had time for, and made sure we were comfortable for an hour. This just doesn’t happen in NY, especially in the theater district. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Great place as always In Theatre district and good place to watch other diners Busy but friendly, cognizant of theatre reservations Food and service outstanding Balcony rail best seating

Spontaneously discovered and not disappointed! 4 1/2 stars I would have wanted to give for a really good, authentic Italian in close proximity to Time Square. Even fresh Parmesan and a black pepper grinder were offered unsolicited. We ate quite well orecchiette with saltimbocca and a very good lasagne. Previously an impeccable caprese. The open wines on the menu could probably do with a little more quality, I did not find them and therefore did not order one.

Happened upon this gem and was glad we did! Warm, welcoming atmosphere combined with delicious food. Trust your server's advice....Andrew knew the menu and specials well and was able to make suggestions with aplomb. My companions lobster ravioli was a hit as was the tagliatelle bolognese I ordered. Service was efficient and courteous. This is well worth the visit!

We had dinner here between the 2 Harry Potter Plays. The service was outstanding, the food very good. When we indicated we had to be out in time for the theater, it was clear that they were used to that kind of request, and there was no problem there. New York City is a wonderful place for good Italian food and this Osteria is no exception!

This place was excellent!!!! Christian our waiter looked after us so from arrival to when we left. Explained the menu went through the specials and the food was perfect. Really reasonable priced as well. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyable evening in a bustling space near Times Square. Lots of tourists due to the location, but it didn’t feel quite as fake as some traps in Little Italy. The app special was zucchini blossoms — I was hooked from first bites. I tried the entree special of stewed rabbit on pasta just out of curiosity. It was different and tasty, but I wouldn’t get it again. I was jealous of my colleague’s lamb bolognese. Servers were charming and busy.

We were looking for a place to have an early dinner after a matinee. We tired Carmines and the wait was hours, so we looked for an alternative. One block west and we found this restaurant. We walked in and were seated immediately. The food was good (my Spaghetti ai Vongole was loaded with nice, tasty clams), the service was friendly and the atmosphere was congenial. A definite addition to our New York dining list.

We dined here prior to seeing Aladdin on Broadway. It's obvious that service is a priority for this restaurant. I watched the servers and the manager interact with customers and they were always friendly and attentive to specific needs. Our group had risotto, mussels and clams and sauteed chicken. Each of these dishes was done perfectly. Listening to other diners, I don't think there was any displeasure in the restaurant. Best of all, it was a 2 minute walk to our theater after our meal. Highly recommend this place

My husband and I dined here after an early show. Our reservation was for 8 pm, but we were seated immediately when we arrived at 740. We had the daily specials (lobster ravioli, sausage and mushroom risotto) and they were good--not extraordinary but fine. Service was efficient and the price was good considering the location in the heart of the theater district.

Great restaurant (took Trip Advisor’s rating). We were looking for Italian close to NYC’s theater district, this was great! Casey place, great service, and excellent food. Definite recommendation in NYC.

The food was wonderful, and the staff was extremely attentive. We ate before seeing a Broadway show, and the service was excellent - no worries about finishing dinner in time. This was the best Italian restaurant dinner that I have had in a long time ! Very good value for the money (which was not a lot). Everyone in our group of four commented how good the food and service was.

The place is packed and buzzing with pre-theater and other diners, all enjoying outstanding Italian food. The servers know the menu, are happy to make recommendations and are friendly and professional. Full bar, we enjoyed an excellent martini and huge wine list. Large menu with starters, soups, salads, pastas, meat and fish, definitely something for everyone. When you are seated olives, bread sticks and bread are served with a fruity olive oil. The fresh mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer was delicious - the mozz creamy and sweet and a good portion. My husband had the beef ravioli - the night's special. They were so savory and special. I loved the tagliatelle with ragu - so satisfying with perfectly cooked noodles and flavorful sauce. The tiramisu is served in a little cup, so it's not too large to enjoy at the end of your meal. It was sweet, creamy and delicious. I can't wait to return

We found this to be a very good pre theater restaurant. Food was very good and an adequate wine list. We would return.

Cozy and low lit. Nice first dinner when you have just gotten in and want a quick bite. Short but sweet wine list. Good selection.

Splendid Italian restaurant in a very touristy area but has all the best of an Italian restaurant. Recommended food, service and atmosphere

Amazing evening - delicious cuisine, toothsome wine, excellent attention from staff. Suggested to arrive earlier during prime dining times. Not to be missed if you are looking for a bite before a Broadway show.

Great atmosphere. Pizza tastes good, prices are ok for the area. A drink would be billed, but not brought, that's not possible. The bruschetta was a bit unimaginative. We ordered similar items this year on holiday in Rome, which was worlds better.

We were visiting the city and taking a friend for a birthday dinner here. This is a great choice for theatregoers, as it is close to many theatres, but it also has a pleasant, elegant atmosphere. Even though it was quite full when we arrived, it does not feel like one of those overcrowded, packed restaurants near theatre where you get the feeling they're trying to make as much money as possible by cramming in as many people as possible and you're lucky to ever get a server's attention. We were not going to a show that night, so it was pleasant to be able to relax and take our time and enjoy as the crowd thinned out by 8 p.m. Considering how busy they were, we were very impressed by how well managed the service was. Our waiter and a crew of bus staff made sure everyone was well served. We never had to ask to have a water glass refilled or our plates to be taken away. Some restaurants use the excuse that they are busy to give you less than great service, but this restaurant does it well. Although the upper level, where we would have preferred to sit, was full, they gave us a lovely table for six that was tucked away and separated from the rest of the room by a large flower arrangement next to our table, so we felt like we had a little separation from the rest of the crowd. Everyone loved their food, beautifully prepared and presented. The birthday guest had salmon ravioli, and found the quantity a little lacking. He might have still been hungry if he had eaten only that, but we all gave him samples of our mains, including my lemon chicken, which was delicious. Our waiter kindly put a candle in the birthday guest's chocolate cake. My friend and I shared the superb apple tart with ice cream. I highly recommend that dessert. It really highlighted the apple, without too much pastry, so it was delicious and refreshing rather than heavy. Our trip was dampened by two days of straight pouring rain, but at least we had a memorable and delicious meal here that we will recall fondly. Thank you so much to the great staff and management here. We were very impressed.

I have been here twice and both times were great service and the food was very good. Recommend making a reservation. I will go back when I'm in NY!

My friend and I had dinner after seeing the Broadway show Oklahoma. He ordered the LINGUINE AI FRUTTI DI MARE and I had the LASAGNA. They were both pretty good, but not the best either of us have ever had. I still would recommend it for decent Italian food near Times Sq. Not that expensive considering how NYC can be.

Very nice restaurant. My wife had the Pesto Pasta and I had the steak. Both were very good. The service was excellent. I would eat here again.

My son and I had dinner at Osteria Al Doge last night, and wow — what an incredible experience from start to finish! We stumbled in after a busy day in Midtown, and this place completely blew us away. The ambiance was perfect — cozy and elegant without feeling stuffy. The soft lighting, rustic Italian charm, and low buzz of happy diners made it feel like we’d escaped the chaos of Times Square, even though it’s literally right outside the door. Our server was fantastic! And the food… absolutely outstanding. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, like something you’d find in a tucked-away trattoria in Venice. It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails it on every level…the food, service, atmosphere, and location - but Osteria Al Doge absolutely does. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back. If you’re anywhere near Times Square, don’t miss this place!!!

This Italian restaurant was near my hotel in NYC so it was a convenient place to have a meal. It’s not a big restaurant and quite popular, so best to make a reservation. Great service and excellent food! Pizza is Italian-style, meaning not so many toppings…but excellent taste! Pasta was also very good! I’d most certainly visit this restaurant again on my next visit to NYC. 👍

We had a fabulous dinner here. It was recommended by our local friends who suggested it had great food and it wasn’t touristy and they are right. I had a very nice glass of Pinot Grigio to go with my rabbit ragu pasta (the special) which was absolutely delicious. The table is served a bread basket to start so we didn’t need a starter. Our waiter Paul was great and very helpful. We also had a dessert - apple and cinnamon ‘cake’ with cinnamon gelato - really yummy. This was a great find and I’d highly recommend!!!

We've eaten here for well over a decade, a favorite when we are are in the theater district. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation (630 pm a we had an 8 pm show literally across the street). They offered us a seat at the bar until our table was ready. Where to sit: Toward the front of the restaurant, where the ceilings are higher, or upstairs, will give you the biggest chance of hearing your companions. If you're toward the back on the first floor, you'll be right under lower ceilings, and it can get screaming loud. We also prefer a table that's not along the wall, as you'll end up, in classic NY style, having to shimmy your way in and out past others' plates. To eat: Caesar plus ravioli. Add some wine and we're happy campers. To know: They will always ask if you're seeing a show to make sure you get out on time. To know, theater-style: leftovers are generally a no-no. So, bring a food purse or a large shopping bag if you plan to carry any of those raviolis home — but also risk losing them to theater security. Price: We feel that the food is 100% worth it---and isn't just some overpriced theatre-district fare.

Just terrible. Nobody speaks Italian. No respect for the times. They bring you first and second together. Expensive and terrible for what you eat. Makes you regret the worst autogrill in Salerno Reggio Calabria. Where the structure is equally obscene but at least you eat well. To be avoided

One of my favorite restaurants. Great for Broadway (if your theater is in the mid to low 40’s). My son is a professional chef, and he summed up it best; "For what it’s trying to do, it’s perfect." I would put it this way — on a scale of 1 to 10 it’s an 8 out of 8. No multi-course tasting menus with tiny plates of exotic ingredients. Simply high quality food, well prepared, with a well-trained and experienced wait staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and we took a chance as no reservation and it was super busy! Excellent service and a great basket of complimentary bread which we nibble whilst waiting for our main courses. Great food, lasagne and spaghetti bolognaise this time, busy but no sense of rushing us out. Noticed a couple of people eating at the bar which looked nice and casual too.

I was at this restaurant with a group of friends, after being recommended to go there, was a great experience, good service and great food, the risotto gamberi and rúcula was just fantastic We will be back.

We met here for lunch before a matinee ( Broadway Show) - we had visited years ago and remembered how nice and tasty it was - and were so pleased with our food and service. Tiago was our server, efficient, friendly, fun and gave us great personal reccommendations. We were happy with our food and loved the bread service especially.

First time back after reopening. Lovely and fresh decor. Post theatre dinner. Good wine list, including reasonably priced reds from Tuscany. The spinach ravioli was excellent. The veal scaloppini with mushrooms was superb. Everything was cooked on the spot and served graciously. The tiramisu is always good here.

We dined late here. We just stumbled upon this excellent Italian restaurant experience. Everything was authentic and delicious. Service was great as well. Highly recommendable!

Restaurant which doesn't look much from the outside but crowded and apparently with regulars. Right in Times Square theater district. The $33 lunch menu is very good with a main course and coffee, otherwise the menu is varied

First of all, the food is really good. As Europeans we live close to Italy and even have family living there, so we probably can evaluate Italian food somewhat... and we must say, very good, qualitative and fresh food. Even the pasta is freshly made. But location and good fresh food comes with a price off course. Everything goes so fast and we really had the feeling that they want to earn as much money as possible in an as short time as possible. They ask upfront if you have booked a broadway show or not, because in that case you get priority in the kitchen to make it on time for the show. Which is good, but if you have no show booked it really feels like they want you out before the next shift starts. After an hour, we were doubting to get some desserts or not, and suddenly the waiter comes and puts the bill on the table and says that we can take it easy but then the bill is already here if we want to pay... which obviously felt a bit strange and as a result we didn't had any desserts anymore and just paid and went out. It was an abrupt and strange end of a good restaurant meal for us.

Reserved here for convenient dinner between the two parts of the Harry Potter play, but came away very impressed by our food. We both had the ravioli special which had a beet-based filling (which we had never seen before) in a butter-lemon sauce and slivered almonds. My wife sometimes makes her own ravioli from scratch, and it is really good, but we agreed these were another level. It was a special so I don't know how often its offered, but we're guessing the rest of the menu would be high quality too. Plus our waitress was excellent - personable and efficient.

A good restaurant with a nice ambience. The food was well prepared and tasty. It was delicious My only concern was really the price of the food, three of us ate with one of us being a child who just had Pizza and juice and the bill was $200+ and thats without ordering a bottle of wine :) It is on times Square however so you kinda expect it.

One of my favorite nyc places. Great, reliable Italian food served in a more upscale, but still casual, setting. Service wasn't great on our last visit, but perhaps the waiter was having an off night. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back.

Food was tasty and our waiter was lovey however front of house (maitre d’) was moody and had absolutely no manners or sense of customer service at all!!

Very disappointed ! We ordered a White wine bottle and after 2 glasses our bottle has been served to another table …. And also 2 mistakes on the bill !

Great menu, delicious food. Especially loved the grilled octopus and lasagna. Great atmosphere and service was fantastic.

The atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner after a Broadway show. The food was well prepared and staff was helpful. I found our specific waiter to be a bit gruff. We also made reservations online and indicated we were celebrating a birthday - but no one asked about it when we arrived and we were disappointed that it wasn't sufficient to provide this information in the online reservation (through the restaurant website).

Ossetia al doge is the restaurant I tend to use most on my quarterly trips to New York. The food is a consistently high quality. The restaurant has a warm friendly buzz for its atmosphere. Whether you want a quick, pre-theatre meal, or a more leisurely dinner, they will oblige. Service is quick and helpful and the choice of menu extensive If you are looking for comfort food on the first night of a transatlantic trip - eating early and not wanting to be overly fussed over at a sensible price - then this is just the ticket!

We almost had a night already had dinner. Since we were staying 4 blocks away we came back and we really ate 10 very good food Excellent fried squid and prawns then grilled pasta and chicken dishes, very good and abundant. Recommended if you are staying x the area!!

We got an early reservation here in anticipation of a 7 p.m. curtain, but were not worried about the time since the location of this place is ideal, in the heart of the Broadway district and in fact right across the street from the show we were planning to see. The menu of Osteria al Doge is ultra-traditional Italian fare, at least as Americans understand it, but there's absolutely no downside to sticking to what you do well, and this place does traditional Italian very well. We all enjoyed our pasta and grilled fish dishes, flavorful and perfectly done, as well as the desserts. As the place filled up (and it got very full, attesting to its popularity) the noise level rose and service (courteous without being excessively friendly) slowed down noticeably. Still, overall I would rate this dining experience pretty high.

I have been here several times over the past 10 years we always go when we’re in the area or going to the theater. Every time we’ve been there it’s been a very nice experience . The food is always consistently excellent, well prepared and and reasonably priced. There’s a good selection of wine and drinks and the wait staff is always very attentive and not overly solicitous. last night, Jamie waited on us and served us a lovely meal. We had plenty of time before we needed to be at the theater, so Jamie is very cooperative and served us at a perfect pace, allowing us to have a nice leisurely meal without feeling, rushed, and yet had arrived at the theater with plenty of time The ambience is pretty good making the whole experience very worthwhile I highly recommend this place You won’t be disappointed

We were seated at the far end of the restaurant in the corner. There was an air con unit above us, blowing cold air out. It was ~20°c outside with wind chill, so we were looking forward to warming up inside. Most of the restaurant was warm, just not this corner. We were told by the waiter that people had been complaining all night, but they couldn’t do anything about it. Other guests around us were asking if we were cold too. Tables are crammed in, to the point that the waiter told us and the table next to us about the specials at the same time. There’s a feel of rushing to turn tables over, and the service reflects that. All of our food was absolutely average, and not worth the cost. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, there must be much better options!

Right across the street from the Hudson Theater, the location is perfect for an after show (or pre show) repast. Good Italian food and great service. Good wine selection too. Short walk to Grand Central if you need a train.

The service, atmosphere, and food will not disappoint. The fish and pasta and shrimp dish were simply fantastic! A great place to go before the theatre or just anytime.

Not pretentious, not arrogant, serving always very fresh and tasty Italian food at a very fair price. I have been eating in this restaurant for more than 15 years and each time I come to NY I pay them a visit Great for pre or post Theater, great for families, I strongly recommend

The food was quite nice, not exceptional but good. The service was disappointingly rushed and overbearing. We were seated at a very cramped table. The restaurant itself looks really nice downstairs. In hindsight not a place to pick for a special occasion, but should not be put off going either.

Almost hate to do this unbelievably positive review in fear that this place will become so overwhelmingly popular that I will not be able to get in as easily. It is amazing… the food, the people and the service is off the charts. Thank you again for completing the unbelievable trip to NYC.

A lovely Italian near Times Square, good menu and lots of choice. It is £££. Had a lovely seat in the window - would happily go again.

We had a good meal, the food was good, service was ok, prices are ok for NY, but we had better experiences. Was good, not excellent.

Good homemade pasta, with a nice combination of traditional favorites and some inventive adaptations. Excellent service even though it was packed.

First and foremost, we had exceptional service from Ersin. He took care of all our needs! Secondly the food was delicious 😋. I had the burrata & beet salad and the melt in your mouth braised short ribs ! Mom had a Caesar salad and a pasta with fresh veggies. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. To top it off the restaurant, close the theater district, is charming and quiet enough for an intimate dinner.

I was roaming around Manhattan, thinking about dinner, pasta in particular, and stumbled onto this restaurant in Times Square. Loved the atmosphere, the service, and the meal. I had a bowl of minestrone soup — full of vegetables — and the tagliatelle bolognese — both were great. This restaurant is now on my short list for return visits on future trips to NYC. Highly recommended!

Hit this restaurant every time we are in town. Never disappointed. Got the lamb shank. Massive piece of super tender meat with a great sauce. Mushroom bruschetta was good but could use a little balsamic. Wife keeps getting the ravioli and is always happy. Will be back again.

Good location for the theater and service is fast. We had dinner within an hour before our show. Food is ok - grilled vegetables were nice, maybe a little underdone but tasty. Entrees were just ok - pizza crust was nice and crisp, and shrimp were very good, but the little bit of sauce was very bland - almost no seasoning. Pasta with shrimp, tomatoes and arugula had similar issues - shrimp was good, but overall very little flavor. We asked the waitress for some oregano, but she never brought it. Probably would try another restaurant next time I go to the theater.

We recently stayed in Manhattan and ate at this restaurant a couple of times due to its proximity to our hotel. I must say that everytime I come to New York I eat at this restaurant as it is a short walk from my hotel and the food does not disappoint every time. Whether you are eating pasta, fish or meat, every dish is extremely delicious. Being of Italian descent, I know my Italian food! The first evening we ate here, we were given the first table by the front window and were served by a wonderful server who was very knowledgeable, chatty and even gave us some recommendations of things to see in New York. A+ service and we were very generous with our tip. Our last night in New York we decided to go back to the restaurant and this time the service was absolutely terrible yet the restaurant has the same number of patrons as the other time. We were given a table around the back of the restaurant and we were surrounded by other diners. It's as if they totally forgot us. I had to ask several staff members (bus boys, other waitors not servicing our area, waitors who bring the food but don't do the order taking) for a menu. Once we got the menu, they forgot to take our order. I had to repeat the same thing and ask several staff to send us our waitor. They never brought our appetizers but only our main course which we prompty returned to the kitchen as we wanted to start with our appetizers. They also never brought their lovely bread basket with grissini, olive oil and olives which they are known for. And at the end of our meal, we had to wait yet again to get our check. Unfortunately this time around they got only a 5% tip for the kitchen staff but nothing for the wait staff. Just so disappointing. It's now for you to decide!

Attentive and good service. Great food and a nice setting. Once been for dinner and a kee4 lunch. Everything was delicious!

From the entrance to the meal the authentic feel of the restaurant was fantastic. Food choices were great and service and attention of staff was top flight. It was apparent that this was a favorite of the locals.

The atmosphere is nice, too. This restaurant is a theater district special: restaurants you choose so that you’ll be on time for the play, not for the quality of the dinner. The Hudson Theater is right across the street. My daughter had just okay pasta, and I ordered what turned out to be tough, inedible pork roast. Kindly, they took it off the bill.

Super nice, fast and relaxed. Very good pasta (papardelle with lamb, spaghetti vongole or paccheri). Grilled calamari with salad Wine, coffee,... Lots of people before the Broadway shows. Totally OK price-wise. We've been there 3 times already. We'll be back!

walking in the big apple, looking for dinner, I explored tripadvisor to look for support. the italian name struck me as the reviews. basically a nice place, varied menu, high prices as in almost all NY with a quality of food not really Italian but tending to the USA.

Recommended by our hotel and in the theater district. Gluten free options are available (all gluten free pasta dishes use penne pasta)...The mushroom risotto is excellent. Gluten free desserts (lava cake with ice cream) are also available. Good atmosphere, great selection of wines. Waitstaff was helpful, courteous and not intrusive. Totally recommend this restaurant.

The quality to price ratio at this restaurant was great. Larger portions (appetizers very shareable) and the seafood was super fresh. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. However, they forgot to bring our appetizer, so I asked for it to be canceled. They apologized and said they would bring it with no charge. I said that wasn’t necessary, that we had our entrees at this point and it wasn’t needed. They brought it anyway (we couldn’t finish it) and then charged us for it. Serving Vin Santo (and a good one at that) without cantucci is somewhat sacrilegious!

Had an early dinner before theatre that never happened because of the NYC blackout. At least our experience at Osteria al Doge saved the evening. This restaurant is our favorite before or after a play. The service is always attentive and professional and the food is well prepared and fresh. We had the pork tenderloin in a sage sauce. The waiter asked if we wanted it ‘well done’ probably because a lot of people think pork has to be over cooked. Better to ask to have it done the way the chef likes to prepare it. We also had the monkfish special, which was perfectly pan fried, with little potatoes and white asparagus. An excellent meal followed by tiramisu and an espresso that would pass muster in Italy.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the theater district. It is always my choice if we are looking for Italian food. The green pappardelle with lamb and rosemary is my favorite dish.

Osteria Al Doge is charming. Excellent Italian entrees. Warm ambiance. Our waiter, who's name I didn't write down but he was Puerto Rican, was incredibly personable and welcoming. Our party ordered branzino, and I had veal scallopini. Wine list was reasonable for NYC. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience.

If you want to go to Italy without leaving New York, this restaurant would be a good choice. It has the cozy, busy atmosphere of a typical Italian restaurant. The food is delicious - we had pollo al limone and branzino al forno. Both were very good but the chicken could have had more lemon sauce. We enjoyed a lovely, light tiramisu for dessert.

The food was terrible. Tried to get us to order entire meal when we sat down. Was not looking for them to turn over table when we we’re paying top dollar for meal. Had a couple of drinks and appetizers and left before becoming more disappointed. Meatball special tough. Fried calamari and shrimp overly breaded so you couldn’t taste calamari or shrimp. Last time we frequent this restaurant

The food is amazing, the staff is amazing, and it's location is fantastic. You can pop in for a bite before a show or after, but try to make reservations if you are on a time crunch because they are always busy (because the food is delish!!!)

Lovely atmosphere, welcoming host, thoughtful menu. However……..you can’t eat words. Let’s start with Appetizer of Fritto Misto UD$23 since no arancini balls were on menu. Fried Calamari were INEDIBLE. I couldn’t cut through. And I tried. Totally rubbery. Fried Shrimp still had tails and we had to spit out shells. The advertised zucchini and carrots were missing. Only the tomato sauce was warm and tasty. I was worried for the rest of the meal. The 2 Mains of Braised Lamb Shank US$41 and Lasagna with Bechamel and Bolognese sauce US$29 were satisfactory. But by that time the memory of the bad appetizer still overshadowed.

Excellent dinner after theatre across the street. The Risotto Al Fungi was delicious. The spinach ravioli with sage butter sauce was great. The Rosso Veronese by the glass was recommended and perfect. The Tiramisu was excellent.

We went here before going to theater across the street. Nice atmosphere. I made a reservation which we were seated promptly, even though we were waiting for others who were joking us. (Many places will NOT seat you until you full party is there.) Nice menu, homemade pastas are good but our salads were bland. I ordered beet salad which was cubed beets, spinach etc. but I would have preferred sliced beets. Service was good. Not a bad choice if you need a restaurant in the theatre district.

Pre-matinee lunch was delicious and efficient. Pleasant staff. As the space filled it became quite loud but still a convenient and good spot in the theater district.

Made a reservation here and thoroughly enjoyed the food we had!! Fresh pasta and great risotto. And the service was fantastic!! Would definitely go back. Only thing we didn’t like was a table stuck way up in the corner, but oh well. Everything else was great!

Easy to get reservations. Great staff. The manager was professional and polite. He definitely keeps his eye on the details. He made it feel more like a neighborhood restaurant and not a tourist trap. I felt like I was in an Osteria in Italy. Nice interior, beautiful decor. The food was reasonably priced and very delicious. The shrimp risotto and the branzino were cooked perfectly. The rest of my meal was equally yummy. The presentation was attractive and appealing. Will definitely come back next time I am in NYC.

European-style portions, well-executed Italian classics: vongole spaghetti not bathed in oil, a very good risotto, good wine, red and white (what the guide told us, made sense: you French, when you have a drink in New York, you feel like you are drinking a bottle. Actually, he was talking about the price, $25 a glass, excluding free tax, and that's $33 a glass. The service is to be improved for example 'give a plate to put empty vongoles ...' Great location near Times Square.

From start to finish, this was our best dining experience for Italian cooking in our visit. The service was outstanding, we were unhurried, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would highly recommend this to visitors in the Times Square area.

Had reservations and arrived early. Upon checking in, the host was unfriendly and basically said wait. We expected that but not the manner in which it was given. We sat at the bar and as our time [approached saw op[en tables bu were not seated. A few minutes after our reservation time I approached a different host at the door and he appeared surprised we were there but sat us immediately. We both had the specials for appetizers and dinner. All was good. Not great but good, although the prices were high in my opinion for the quality of the service and food etc... The ambiance of the place is really nice and it is in a great location. Bartender was very friendly and provided excellent service.

Busy, but got us a table. Service and food was excellent. Started with prosciutto and soft cheese, then had chicken Parmesan. Great wine list as well.

You can usually find something vegan at an Italian restaurant, but I was really impressed by the options here. First of all, the food was fantastic, from the appetizers to soups and salads to main courses, with include meat and seafood. And speaking of soup, all 3 of the options when we visited were vegan-friendly. Often, minestrone and pasta fagioli are cooked with cheese, and I would expect a roasted pepper and tomato soup to include butter or cream, but not here. We tried all 3 and they were all excellent! The non-vegan enjoyed linquini with seafood in a light broth. And we also enjoyed the complimentary bread, which was authentic Italian. The restaurant is in an older space, but it's been redecorated and was quite attractive and interesting. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely visit again.

We visited here during our intermission from our show at the local theater and it was absolutely wonderful! Food was delicious particularly their ny strip steak and mushrooms and the pasta alla bolognese and the butternut squash ravioli all the way down to the tiramisu for dessert!! And the waiters and hostess were very nice and accomdating

Quality food, attentive and friendly service. Price in line with the type of product offered and for the location. Deceive the wait for the main course with focaccia, croutons and slices of bread accompanied by olive oil, added value. Must try absolutely. Only flaw: dimly lit, like most restaurants in the States

Booked a dinner reservation for 6 pm prior to seeing Some Like It Hot at the Shubert Theater. We were 20 min. early at the restaurant, and as it was raining went inside. We were seated right away. The wait staff throughout the dinner was just as accommodating and considerate. The food we ordered was excellent, decor and ambiance just lovely. Highly recommend Osteria for pre or post-theatre dinner.

Food was really good. Friendly service at host and bar. Table service was mediocre. Server was clearly pissed off that we ordered a bottle of wine at the bar while we waited; we arrived ~20 minutes early for our reservation. We overheard him comment, negatively, to the host after seating us. Jerk.

I booked the table months in advance to our planned visit and it was worth it. Service was great and the food was fresh and very tasty indeed. We had complementary Bread and Olives at start and had no time limit set of stay. The prices are mid priced only down side is that we sat close to the door so kept getting the draft when opened. Would definitely go back for a second bit of the risotto :-)

We chose this place based on a Trip Advisor recommendation and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed right from the time we opened the door. Service was wonderful, wait staff, bus people, and we think the manager, checked on us regularly to ensure we were taken care of. The food was wonderful and the location was walkable from our hotel. All in all, a wonderful New York dining experience.

The four of us (2 adults, 2 college-age kids) had dinner here on Friday night before a show. Although it was crowded and a bit on the loud side, the service was efficient and the food was delicious. We had a really good bottle of wine, recommended by the server. Two of us had the Caesar, I had the mixed green salad, my son had the focaccia. All were good. Then the kids had the spinach ravioli, which they liked. I had a pasta special with porcini mushrooms which was really good. My husband had a bolognese. Then for dessert we had a tarte tatin and a chocolate cake special. It wasn't inexpensive, but it certainly wasn't outrageous for the area. I'd definitely go back there pre-theater. Otherwise, I would wait until 7:45 so that all of the theater-goers are gone.

The restaurant was recommended to us for a good Italian for our trip to NYC and didn’t disappoint. We had been told earlier in the day not to eat near Times Square as restaurants in Greenwich Village etc were better priced and more authentic but this place must be an exception. Excellent friendly service with delicious homemade food. Our waiter recommended a delicious red which we had with some of the specials including meatballs and linguine which was excellent. Would recommend and will be back next time we’re in NYC.

This restaurant has a nice classic NY Italian restaurant feel to it. The menu is also north Italian classic, it has what you are looking for in NY Italian restaurants. The location is great for those working midtown or planning for a broadway show. Very busy just before the snows , kind of empty after that. Food is average, the pasta and fish are ok, but the taste is off. I ate at the bar, avoid that. One of the employees would just sit there and listen to videos on his phone, how unprofessional. The barman made sure to put my used silverware back on the placemat. Who would want to use new silverware for the entree right? Maybe there is an extra charge for that?

I liked it! I didn't come by indication, I came through my own research. We made a Reservation, but there was no need, as there were tables available. We were well served, we liked the food, fresh and quality food, we were satisfied with the quantity! We found the price OK for the standard New York. I left the values in the pictures.

Had beef carpaccio, very well presented, variety of breads was good, service was excellent. Had the branzino fish, excellent presentation in a heated casserole.

I have been here twice for a pre- theatre dinner. The food, service, and location can't be beat. This time, I was just in town for the day, and had lunch before a matinee. I came with three new friends that I had just met on the trip up. The atmosphere was more relaxed at lunch midweek than on a busy weekend night. They have a Lunch Express menu that provides two courses and coffee for $35. I had the butternut squash soup and the cheese-stuffed ravioli with shrimp sauce. The ravioli might be the best thing I have ordered here. So flavorful! One of my companions had the lemon chicken, which was also on the Express menu, and the portion was so huge that she could only manage about half of it. The other choice for a starter was a salad, and a third choice of main dish was a grilled salmon. The other orders in our group were a large salad with shrimp, and a penne pasta dish. The four of us shared a bottle of Sancerre. We also shared an order of profiteroles. When I confessed to it being my birthday, the waiter served dessert with a candle, and the whole place sang Happy Birthday. It was such a nice little celebration! This remains a great choice for wonderful food and attentive service in the Theatre District. I plan to return anytime that I am in town.

The food was delicious! Great spot for a pre show dinner and they were very attentive to our time limitations. The waitress asked if we were going to a show and timed everything perfectly. Location is great.

To us Italians after a few days abroad, after trying local food (for a matter of appearance and experience) we miss our Italian cuisine. I must say that today I made myself happy and left the restaurant with a huge smile. Perfect food, friendly service and not intrusive and certainly up to a refined and sociable and not binding. Excellent staff. My fillet was medium to blood, just as requested, abundant side dish and for my son tagliatelle Bolognese sauce (I could say something about it, but since my son ate almost all "large portion" took the words out of my mouth. Almost certainly will stay again! Leo

We were staying at The Chatwal just up the road and ate here two nights during our week in New York. The first time was a Saturday and the atmosphere was amazing - so lively and buzzing. The food is authentic Italian. The second time we went was a rainy Monday. It was much quieter, but there was still a steady stream of customers. Excellent service, delicious food, great atmosphere and decor. If I lived locally, I’d go frequently. Loved it!

New Year's Eve 2023 dinner dedicated to frozen foods. We go to this restaurant near Times Square for dinner on December 31, 2023 and then celebrate the arrival of 2024 as close as possible to the ball drop. At the time of booking, via open table (October 2023), we are contacted by email with a request for a deposit of €50 per person. Furthermore, we are sent the obligatory menu for that night of €125 per person excluding drinks, taxes and services. We proceed with the payment and wait for the NYE to arrive. Once December 31st arrived, we went to the restaurant with quite a bit of difficulty, the pass issued by them was only valid for 44 St 7 Ave and consequently we walked around and traveled several kilometers before we could get to the right gate. Once we arrived we were seated and we chose our dishes from the fixed menu sent via email. As appetizers we take fried fish (frozen, supermarket bag quality) and a soup based on lobster bisque with prawns and burrata (terrible, the bisque was practically melted garlic and nothing of lobster or prawns could be glimpsed in the dish). As the first course, a homemade pacchero with seafood is chosen, well if that was homemade pasta something needs to be reviewed, seafood coming from the same frozen bag as the previous frying, this time of even worse quality. For dessert, a microwave-heated panettone with vanilla ice cream is served. Impeccable service, super waiters who are always attentive. It's a shame that at the time of the bill a mandatory service charge of 20% is imposed without the possibility of choice. At the moment of payment the worst scene occurs, the waitress who had done nothing wrong up to that moment, does not take the deposit into account when paying the bill and the first amount paid via POS is incorrect by a good €60 more. Before paying the second fee we point it out to you; at this moment the panic in the girl herself and in the owner. Our request was simple: in the second installment the €60 included in the first payment is deducted, this request completely threw the restaurant staff into overdrive who kept us blocked for 30 minutes in an attempt to proceed with the second payment (yes, that's right 30 minutes, crazy even to believe it) we spent the new year countdown waiting for payment. I add that they were not even able to make a sum using a calculator. The rock bottom was reached when the waitress who had made a mistake with the payment claimed to have then canceled it!! Well after 30 minutes of sums, tests, attempts, pure madness we managed to pay the second fee and at the time the time was 00:15 (the countdown was now almost over) I add that the bill was not touched even one iota, : total €435.39 I suggest something else!

Randomly picked this restaurant off Times Square for a quick dinner prior to the theatre. Ambience, host and service were all inviting. My friend and I both ordered the specials: lobster pasta and a chicken scallopini. The food was delicious. The wine list was reasonable. The meal totally exceeded our expectations.

Makes you wonder what else goes on in the kitchen after you find plastic in your food. Staff were friendly though.

There are many ex Ellen’s Italian restaurants in the city and this one should be included on your list to try. Conveniently located with excellent choices on the menu. Food was well presented excellent quality with good service

in the neighborhood — and what a nice surprise! The cuisine is really excellent, full of flavors, with homemade dishes. The staff is very friendly, smiling and attentive. The setting is pleasant, warm and welcoming. A real beautiful discovery that we had not planned, but that we recommend without hesitation!

We visited this restaurant last week. The food was lovely, fresh, tasty and fab service too. We both had the chicken which was perfectly cooked, as we're the vegetables. The place was packed, which is also a good sign, and people waiting to get in. We felt lucky after woods, as we were just passing and saw it. Try it, you'll like it a lot.

Every time I go to see a show, I book dinner here-- not just because of the location, which is incredibly convenient to Broadway, but because the food & service have never let me down.

I asked for the Thanksgiving menu, fix price, entree, main and dessert for 50 dollars. No drinks. And suprisingly, the total to pay: $64,44. After I showed the waiter the “mistake”, he told me that maybe someone thought the salad was not in the fix menu, apologized and came with another sum, $50 and the tip would be included as I’d chose. apologizes taken, signed the new and correct total. Checking my account balance, there it was: Osteria $64,44. This was not honest! I only give more than 1 star if the establishment respect the client.

It happened by chance the penultimate dinner in America after 2 weeks on the road! From the outside it looked like "home"! Great food! It really felt like being in a restaurant in Italy! Affordable prices. Very courteous and helpful staff. Highly Recommendation!

On arrival met with friendly greeting. Waiter was very attentive. Good touch to ask if if we’re going to theatre. Wanted to take our order quickly but not ready so was happy to come back. Throughout service wine and water topped up. Food was very good and could tell it was cooked to order. The specials sounded awesome but opted for risotto which was very good. Would love to come back.

Busy but accommodating, Rex, our waiter was great! The lamb ragu on pappardelle was amazing. Directly across the Hudson theater was convenient.

What a brilliant restaurant to eat, pre show, after show or just because you want to. Firstly the decor, it reminded me of a gentle flower market in Venice. Huge glorious baskets of flowers, perfectly hung ornamental fish platters. Show posters all displayed set tastefully and just enough. To be honest that is how the food is, top quality, beautifully presented by cheerful well turned out servers. The bar area is most attractive. We shared a A delightful beef carpaccio followed salmon trout in a lemon sauce and mash, a fillet of salmon which they cook to your liking and salad, lemon tart and apple tart with cinnamon ice cream. It was leisurely and wonderful. A must in NYC

This restaurant jams table guests on top of each other, no private conversation. The food was not worth the $$--I got seafood Frutti Di Mare, yup seafood-- well it cost about $31 and the portion was very small, it only covered the small bowl base of the plate, I think I got 2- sliced Bay Scallops-not even whole, 3 small bite size shrimp, a few mini clams and Oysters and calamari. I am not sure what the cook is doing in the kitchen, this entre was not even close of being fulling. The cook needs to know that the average Frutti plate consists of jumbo shrimp, sea scallops and large clams with a much bigger portion. A total rip off and poor entre. Don rt waste your money.

It takes great skill to get a packed house well fed and get them to the theater on time. An experienced and attentive staff well well. They have a solid menu. The prosciutto with black figs was a welcome starter. Risotto with sweet sausage was fair but not too filling. The lasagna was very good. While we were late in arriving the staff made sure we were comfortable and would easily make the curtain call. Good find in the theater district.

A Real Italian restaurants for locals and non stupid tourists, great food, great service, a great location! Really everything is what I expect from a Italian New-York restaurant. Not cheap, but decent prices!

Very nice home. Varied menu with fresh produce. Good address and very good value for money for the area! We went there twice during our stay.

Typical Italian atmosphere, very tasty food 10/10!! The staff was the most attentive in all of NYC so far! A really good restaurant that we can highly recommend! The prices are OK for NY.

Second time at this restaurant - both times we were seated beside a woman “working” a more senior manager/partner. The close proximity of the tables made this a particularly unpleasant way to have an otherwise very good meal. Maybe a bit more volume on the background music - I’m not sure what could make this better. As for food - had bruschetta and the artichoke/potato soup as appys - very good. Main course was lasagna and Andouille sausage ravioli. Both very good. Homemade pasta was very light. Dessert was chocolate mousse with fresh blackberries and chocolate sauce. Excellent. Overall service and food were very good. Unfortunately the couple at the next table ruined our meal.

Mainly chosen for its proximity to our hotel, we were ultimately disappointed by this restaurant. Even though the menu was attractive and the setting rather welcoming, we ultimately found ourselves in one of those (too many) New York restaurants that target tourists and whose only objective is to leave big bills at the end of the meal. So, if like us, you don't order enough in their eyes, the tone changes very quickly and becomes much less welcoming than when we arrived at this establishment. In summary, NYC is big enough to find other Italian restaurants where the food and, above all, the welcome will be there. (Don't hesitate to check out my other comments: you will find a very good trattoria address in Little Italy and another pizzeria near Wall Street :-))

We had the special ravioli and a standard menu item - both dishes absolutely superb. And left room for a wonderful dessert. Great service also.

I had been here before and highly rated. The owner or greeter is still as miserable as last time. My server was good and tried very hard. The lemon chicken main was dry and overcooked.. with so many places to choose from I wouldn’t return.

This restaurant is in the theater district for those who want a wonderful dinner or late night meal. The food selection was large, as was their wine. Cynthia was a great server and she was very attentive but not obtrusive. The best find of the night was Brunello by the glass! A very nice accompaniment-to my meal.

A great find in the theater district. Although the place was very busy we never felt rushed and were able to have a lovely dinner before the theater. Nice wine list, lots of choice for dinner and excellent dessert menu. We had the fritto misto as an appetizer and it was huge! Pastas were delicious grilled calamari was great as well.

This is a delightful restaurant. When we arrived quite early in the evening it was very busy with pre-show diners (brilliant location for Broadway and surrounding theatres.) We were lucky they could squeeze the two of us in. So I would definitely advise booking! Despite being so busy we were looked after extremely well. Attentive but not intrusive service. Araque Alexander in particular. All the staff are very professional and it was good to see a place so well staffed in both numbers and quality. The food is very good (we had the lasagne and risotto but looking around at everyone else’s plates (as you do!) it all looked delicious. A good wine list too. For ambiance, décor, service and food I could not recommend this place too highly.

Nice restaurant to go to before a play. The food was good, service was fast, drinks were very reasonable in price and well served although the food was under salted. Portions are not big in the pasta if you are a big eater. The pasta dishes were good, the salmon was ok, the chicken was a 7.

This was the greatest find of our trip and it was right across the street from our hotel! even though we had stayed there before we had not seen the restaurant. The food was so good we ate there twice in four nights! It’s a really nice vibe, good service, and fast enough to see an evening broadway show. I can’t say enough about the food. We shared a salad and entree both times: arugula and parm salad with lemony dressing; shrimp risotto; watermelon, cucumber tomatoes arugula salad; lasagna. Delish bread basket too. We made early 5-5:45 reservations both times and the place filled up while we were eating.

Went here at the recommendation of a local for a pre-theatre supper. Buzzy atmosphere, fast and friendly service, great food. Loved it.

5 stars for all of the pastas we tried -- in particular the spinach-ricotta ravioli in a butter sage sauce was a stand-out. My husband loved the braised lamb shank with vegetable caponata & roast potatoes. Roasted beets were a revelation here. I wish we had had room for dessert but a neighboring table told us the tiramisu and the crème brulée were equally divine. We were a large group, which included two young children -- warm reception by the entire waitstaff was deeply appreciated.

We stumbled in for a late night bite after our Broadway show. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Service was spot on. Varied Italian choices. We ordered risotto, pasta with Alfredo type sauce and seafood in red sauce. All were delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommendable!

Osteria al Doge is BEAUTIFUL. We LOVED the tables made of wood, the chandeliers, the ambiance of Osteria is amazing. We ordered a speciality pizza, grilled veggies plate, spinach/goat cheese and beet salad and another salad with shrimp. There were two disappointments here - the spinach salad had two slices of goat cheese on either side...look liked they took a tube and sliced it. The grilled veggies cooked perfectly and the shrimp had a nice kick to them....all well prepared. The pizza - UGH. My friend looks at the speciality pizza and called it a Deli Meat Pizza....if you look at the picture, the ham looks like they sliced it like they would at the supermarket. Very disappointing. The crust was on the chewy side, however, still tasty. Although I wouldn’t ever order a pizza there, I would definitely return. Great little find. It has made the MRL (Maria’s Return List)! Happy Travels!

Great Italian restaurant. We were a group of four, the service was top, the food is authentic, go for the risotto fruti di mar, fantastic choice. Good wine selection, great experience.

This is a well located restaurant, just steps east of Times Sq. It was an excellent choice for a restaurant before the theater. The service was fast, and the food was very good. We had a 5:15 reservation for a 7:00PM show and had plenty of time.

We discovered this place in the restaurant section on the Playbill and we went there after watching "Ain't Too Proud". The location of the restaurant is perfect and is near most Broadway theaters. We went there rather early - around 6pm - and it wasn't crowded, and the place is very charming and comfortable, with dimmered lights and candles on the tables. Upon arrival, the waiter asks if you have a show to watch on Broadway, if so, they arrange the service in a way it avoids making you late for theater. I ordered the risotto gamberi and my boyfriend ordered the pasta bolognese, both really really good.

Great spot to dine before a show without the touristy rush. Accommodating menu and charming dining room. Go as heavy or as light as you please and all was delicious. Dont miss sharing a portion of Bolognese

Went here before a play. We had arrived at 5:30, for a 7pm show. Appetizers came and they were ok. Entrees never came, at 6:45 we were told our order never went in. Went to the play hungry and very angry. Never again!!

Beautiful food, service, the whole package. Went here for early dinner before NYE celebrations and so glad we did ! Highly recommended! The Xmas / NYE declarations looked so lovely

The proximity of this Venetian Italian restaurant to the Shubert Theater, and the availability of gluten-free pasta, was what led my wife and me to try this for lunch before a matinee musical. We were happy we did: the shared Burrata and Beets, and the seafood pastas, both normal and gluten-free, were excellent. Many wines by the glass, and OK Cappucinos. Service was fast, and even the forgotten side dish came reasonably quickly. This place, like many other restaurants, needs hand-held electronic order-taking devices.

We came upon this restaurant by chance and it was a wonderful experience! The good was great and the service (our waiter was Omar) was excellent!

Okay....now listen to me. Following two attempts to enjoy a decent Italian dinner in New York City this past week ( Il Postino and Patsy's.... both very disappointing! ) , my wife and I tried L'Osteria al Doge on W 44th, a block from Times Square. Probably the finest Italian dining experience I've enjoyed outside of Venice. Truthfully. Anna, our server, was terrific. I spilled half a glass of the best white wine ( Sancerre... unbelievable ) on our table cloth and she re-set it graciously ( and unnecessarily ) in less than a minute. My dinner: Appetizer: Grilled Octopus in a light pesto sauve w/tomatoes, capers, etc. Entree: Brodetto Di Pesce. Probably the finest seafood and shellfish in a light herb tomato broth I've ever had. Truly a masterpiece. Outrageous. All this in a wonderfully decorated dining room with quiet Italian background music. Forget all the others. This place is truly the best in the city. Jerry B

Went to Osteria al Doge after a Broadway play on a Sunday night. Glad we did.......our meals and server were great!

Our concierge sent us here for pre theater dining. Food was delicious and menu amazing. Very easy to walk to theater from here. Service a bit rushed because they know you want to get to theater - we all enjoyed our meals.

This was our first visit to Osteria al Doge. We will be back for sure. My wife and I had dinner with 3 friends. My wife started with Chardonnay, I had Tanqueray on rocks with a splash of water. Both were generous pours. We shared a tasty caesar salad, which was plenty large enough to split for two. My wife had the Vongole. She did request more sauce because it seemed dry. No problem. The waiter brought a full pitcher of sauce. My Taglioatelle All Bolognese was perfect. It was a generous portion, so I could not finish it all. Our good a drinks - two each - totally $109. Very reasonable for great food and service. Our water, Rex, was excellent: professional, attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend Osteria al Doge

Bad dinner we ordered only one dish each pasta spinach and sausage ... hot and tasty tagliatelle with ragu' bad and ultrascotte and ingredients of bad quality... an offense to Italian cuisine! The only decent dish was roasted meat with a side of green beans Out of proportion prices !total bill 4 first 1 second 2 glasses of wine 1 beer water 390€ absurd robbery Italians recommend staying away from this restaurant!!!

meal was good and service was okay too. Restaurant opposite our hotel, so very convenient for us. found all restaurants in New York expensive, as the £ dollar rate not to our advantage. Also don't like the huge service charge expected.

Osteria al Doge is one of my favorite lunch spots in the City. The menu is imaginative, and has something for everyone -- all the old favorites (which are delicious, by the way), and some newer items (ditto). The grilled octopus is incredible; the shrimp risotto is delicious, and the service is just right. And of course, they're smack dab in the middle of the Theater District, which makes them a great spot for pre-theater lunch on matinee days, or a post-theater drink (on matinee days), or a pre-theater dinner. The wait staff is sensitive to curtain times, so there's never a worry about finishing a meal on time. Highly recommended!

We were greeted warmly upon arrival and immediately asked if we were seeing a show, so we didn't have to worry about rushing out. (Five p.m. reservation for a 7:00 show.) All of the specials (grilled octopus, artichoke ravioli, and branzino filet) were delicious. Panna cotta for dessert was the perfect touch. The space is larger than it looks, with a small seating area upstairs. It was packed by the time we left. The walk took the theater took 7 minutes.
A Culinary Journey through Italy: Unforgettable Dining Experience
The pasta dishes are nothing short of extraordinary. Each pasta is perfectly cooked to al dente, with rich and flavorful sauces that complement the dish flawlessly. But it doesn't stop there. The selection of entrees are equally impressive. From mouthwatering meat dishes to delicate seafood creations, there is something to satisfy every palate.
