Friendly bar, good pizza

By lauradds |

We didn't eat in the restaurant but went to the bar a few times ahead of seeing Sleep No More across the road. Friendly staff, good music and a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails. They also lay on complementary appetisers (including pizza) for patrons of the bar area. I probably wouldn't make a special effort to go, but if you're in the area it's worth a look.

Cozy place with good food

By Petrus61 |

Although from the outside, this restaurant does not look like much, it is indeed a very cozy and quiet place. The food was very good too. Service was timely and courteous.

Amazing food and service excellent.

By Bjarni J |

The best pizza in NY. Service friendly and on top. Love the menu and quality is very good. Also very nice bar and they have signature cocktails as well as others. Espresso Martini that I got was one perfect. Looking forward to my next visit

Great little Italian place!

By MimiG |

The west side is rampant with new construction projects spanning several blocks and in the middle of it is a great little Italian restaurant called Ovest. My business partners found it and we enjoyed a light lunch of calamari and octopus appetizers and I had the ravioli with spinach (delightful). I also enjoyed the Belgian style beer they were offering that day - Ama. The staff was very nice and helpful. Great little gem on the West Side!

Fantastisc Meals & Service

Pizza with awesome company

By omoariera |

Cute little bar with fun games and great music! Pizza tasted great, oven cooked thin crust, just awesome! My boyfriend cousin and I stumbled upon this pizza bar while in NYC, we lived it. It was so nice and great ambiance! Like a 5 minute ride to Washington Square park!

Trendy Pizza Restaurant Near High Line

By Andres C |

We wanted some really good pizza to end our weekend in NYC so we took to TA to find the one with the best rating near us. We landed on Ovest. The pizza is Naples style: more sauce than cheese, thinner, and a soft and airy crust. We ordered just a plain cheese and a Piccante Pizza. The Piccante lacked much of the “kick” you’d want when ordering something that’s supposed to be spicy. The taste was a little underwhelming in general; good, but underwhelming. The pizza is certainly saved by the crust. It’s done to perfection. The service was ok. At times we thought they might’ve forgotten about us. The staff was friendly otherwise, but be sure to get their attention if you want/need something. The pricing wasn’t bad for a sit down pizza restaurant that has a stylish looking bar with signature cocktails.

Best Chelsea Resto

By Pamela A |

Frequent this place because of the isolated location and it is great! Best pizza, sandwiches and salad. Try the Martha named after Martha Stewart, a local in the area. The staff is super friendly and nice. Celeb sightings are not rare in this area. Lovely place!

Excellent price-value

By Wannes_VdA |

My wife and I had a very nice dinner here. Good atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff and the food was just really good. I had a great plate of pasta, real Italian food, not the so called kind you often get served... Nothing fancy, just a nice place for a good meal. On weekdays there is Aperitivo between 5 and 8 pm and according to my host it is very good. We went on sunday, so I can't judge that myself.

Pretty ok... nothing special

By Andrea S |

Went here after a work event round the corner. Grabbed a bite to eat. It was perfectly ok, menu very comprehensive and the food was good. You will have a fine meal here, not sure it is more than average though. Wine was good!

Really good neapolitan pizza

By Hugo |

Really good pizzas, nice place ! Large choice of drinks, If you like Neapolitan Pizzas, and want to find this traditional taste, you can go without any hesitation !

Great food, Casual vibe

By Bradt255 |

Located right by the High Line and across the street from the McKittrick Hotel. Nice and casual in a trendy area with real good food and good cocktails. We actually walked the High Line then headed here for a couple drinks and dinner before going to Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel. It was a nice day/night so they had the folding front glass doors open bringing in some fresh air and making it feel more open. The waitress was really nice, fully answered our questions, and recommended a couple of good cocktails. We had pizza and salads...salad was good and the pizza was great. The food comes pretty quickly but you don't feel rushed. It's not really cheap but nothing good is in NYC. Was not disappointed and will go back if in the area.

great service, great thin-crust pizza, best negroni in NY

By Simon M |

the ovest team go out of their way to provide outstanding service and make you feel at home. the pasta and pizza is authentic and fresh. last but not least they make/offer superb mixed drinks, with the negroni the standout.

I always go there for the pizza

By Enrico2309 |

That s it... If you like the pizza, the real one, you should try this place.. Good gnocchi too. Price is fair Highly recommended

Excellent pizza

By champ50 |

We are staying in midtown manhattan so we wanted to find a pizzeria to walk to. This place is all alone with not much around it. The food was delicious, the salad and pizza very tasty. Good wine selection also. It is a thin crust pizza , crispy edges and a little softer towards the middle. I would recommend to eat at this pizzeria.

Awesome pizza, great ambience!

By Todd H |

After you check out the High Line park, you should check out this pizza place. The food is excellent and the ambience is great.

Pizzeria sympa

By Fabien K |

Restaurant with a good choice of pizza, good. Friendly staff, Speed of Service. Warm decor. Have a good time with friends

Great Happy Hour

By shakespeare4me |

Cute little place! I just stopped in for a drink during happy hour but did get a chance to see their appetizer bar. It looked delicious and the women next to me said it was very good. My drink was served up strong. I wish I had had more time to enjoy the happy hour or have dinner. I would return for more than the bar.

One of the best pizza on this side of the Atlantic

By mpotok |

Small, quiet, and coy place, located just at the bottom of the Skywalk, this place serves one of the best pizzas I had on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. It is simple, but delicious, perfectly juicy and crispy. Staff is professional and understanding. Our food was quickly delivered and we made it on time to McKittrick Hotel Sleep No More performance. Highly recommended!

WOW! JUST AMAZING!

By tony186411 |

If you want to eat real Italian food you can't miss this spot! it's like being in Italy..the food is so delicious, the pizza is great and they have top selections of Italian wines! the staff is so kind and helpful!

Perfect dinner before Sleep No More

By Courthardgrave |

We found this place on Google because we wanted to eat near the McKittrick Hotel before Sleep No More. So glad we did! Food, wine & atmosphere were great! Service was good. Was busy but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Across the street from our show. Can't wait to go back again. Great way to start our NYC trip.

Pizza love

By DJ_wanders_11 |

Great tasting 12” pizza and Italian food in an unpretentious setting. Service was attentive and friendly. Nice ambiance, even with every table filled the noise level was very low. The simple bufala pizza and eggplant parmigiana were fantastic, even better with some of their home made infused olive oils.

Great Find in Manhattan

By DanSamJAX |

The drinks were awesome the staff did a wonderful job and accommodated us very well. Great service. The Pizza is some of the best we have had in NYC great place to meet and have drinks.

Our worst experience

By Glenn M |

Our friend picked this restaurant because it was close to Penn Station and we have no idea why. The wrong dessert was brought twice to An 11 year old with us, the waiter constantly disappeared popping up to insist that of course he remembered we'd ordered a glass of wine, the food was mediocre at best and the unisex toilet was filthy with urine on the seat and floor.

Ovest Pizzoteca is a really good Italian oven-brick pizza joint.

By Hawaiian555 |

Ovest Pizzoteca is a really good Italian oven-brick pizza restaurant cafe that has a good pizza and antipasta. Our family enjoyed the pizza after walking the High Line. The Naples style atmosphere gives it a warm feeling and they have a good selection of Italian wines.

A n Authentic Find

By ROBERT I |

More than Pizza. The other reviews rave about the pizza so you should read their feedback. I had a panini and a salad for lunch. Very nice environment (cause, comfortable, tables in a brick walled space. The food was very good--warm and rasetully combined. I would recommend this and I will return.

Delicious but expensive

By Tansy C |

Went here after a show. They are very expensive but they have really good cocktails. The pizza was delicious as well. Space was small (cosy) but it wasn't very crowded on a Monday night which was pleasant. Was a nice splurge but I don't know if I would go again.

Hot spot for genuine pizza’s

By Stephan |

Great place, bit crowdy but good service, food an atmosphere.Would definitely come back next time especially for the Tiramisu.

NYC Pizza 2.0

By David Z |

As I am a typical New Yorker, I would say the pizza in NYC is the best on the planet. Well this place out did themselves and brought that traditional Italian pizza flare and created NYC Nuevo Pizza experience. The staff seems to be entirely from Italy. The food is un-freaking-balievable,even though the space seems cramped at first, the staff does a great job in there small foot print. I have been there twice now and they keep impressing me. The cost is more than your typical NYC walk up Pizza shop. But it's well worth the up tick in $$$ for the quality of the eats at this restaurant.

Best Pizza in NYC !

By Bob T |

Simply the best pizza I've had in NYC in four years! Grrat location near hi-line and Hotel Americano.

A real Italian corner in the most international and vibrant city of the world

By Pietro-Amati |

In the west part of the big apple just under the "high line" in a fantastic corner with the entrance almost not visible there is this restaurant with a long tradition or pure Roman cucine with all the experience cumulated in almost 3000 year of history. An experience that must be taken at any possible occasion

Exceptional pie in Chelsea

By Dennis C |

During a recent weekend stay near MSG, we decided to have some pizza at Ovest. It was highly recommended to me and I was definitely not disappointed. Artichoke tips, salad, and specialty coal fired pizza were all exceptional...as was the house wine. Claudio, our young Italian waiter, was charming and a good server. Felt like we were in Italy. A bit pricey, but definitely deserves a repeat visit.

Great Pizza and Drinks!

By Chad P |

We stopped in for food here after drinks at the Gallow Green Rooftop, the Pizza was amazing, being cooked right infront of you in their wood burning oven. On top of that the drinks were top notch and made in the mixoligist fashion, I had the Six AM martini and my wife a ginger drink that was awesome!

Excellent NY Style Pizza with a few extras

By DeVere K |

This restaurant was recommended by the reception desk at the Hotel Americano across the street. We were looking for a quick lunch, and Ovest didn't disappoint. The pizza is thin-crust, NY-style, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The wine and beer selection was also quite good, and the service during the mid-afternoon was prompt & professional. Great for a quiet, non-pretentious and reasonably priced meal.

Wish we found this place earlier

By FlyAtNight |

It was our last night of our visit and we were just looking for somewhere to go for our last New York dinner. Ovest was close to our hotel and had a menu with so many choices. We settled on a couple of pizzas, the picante was awesome.

Good spot for aperitivo

By Spinoza22 |

We have been there before the Sleep No More performance. We tasted a series of starters from friend calamari to arancini and aubergines. Food was good but nothing great and we could taste that the calamari were not the freshest. The place is nicely decorated, the pre dinner cocktails were good therefore i would recommend this place as pre theatre drink spot.

Great Pizza and nice staff

By salvax239 |

I stayed in the hotel infront for 4 nights , I spent 3 of my dinners in this restaurant Pizza is really good and staff is super friendly.

Great Pizza!

By AJC473 |

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The pizzas are amazing, and the fried artichoke appetizer is definitely worth trying. The meal was also nicely complimented by a great wine list

Great lunch with good atmosphere.

By Gibbo_z |

On a rainy day in Manhattan we headed to Ovest having seen the positive reviews on here. The restaurant front was open, the pizza oven visible in the back and every wall was full of bottles of wine, presenting a welcoming and rustic feel. The waiters were polite and attentive, the pizza was delicious and good value. I would certainly go back.

Very good pizza next to the High Line

By PrinceConsort |

This is a casual, unpretentious place with very good pizza, right next to the High Line. Service is friendly and good. We were looking for a light lunch and split an Arugula pizza, which was enough for us and very good. Hard to beat.

Very good pizzas, good quality!

By Suzana DR |

Very good, pizza with good products! We can say for this pizzeria that we eat a real pizza unlike other restaurants calling themselves Italian which only have Italian in the title!! Cozy and warm atmosphere, I recommend, you can go there with your eyes closed!

Authentic Italian-American pizza

By Pshrink |

Me and my partner spent six days in New York in January and stayed in this part of Chelsea partly because of its proximity to a theatre event we planned on attending. The Ovest Pizzoteca happened to be across the road from our hotel so, naturally, we decided to drop in and try it... and ended up returning again and again. It became our go-to eating place during our trip. Why? Well, the front of the place serves killer cocktails - deliciously lethal - and the back serves amazing pizza, fresh and steaming hot, from an authentic pizza oven, crisp of base and perfectly flavoured with great quality ingredients. That, along with excellent service from what seemed an almost entirely Italian staff, is the basis of the place's appeal. Also worth noting if, like us, you were eating before going on elsewhere: the staff are expert at taking orders and serving courses in double-quick time, meaning we never felt we were rushing our food. Ovest Pizzateca was a pleasure to come back to and, when we're in NY again in June, we'll undoubtedly pay it a return visit. Or three.

A hidden Easter Egg under the High Line!

By Ethernaut05 |

Our AirBnB host recommended this find and we used nav to reach it as it appears to literally be in an alley! But upon entering it's warm and welcoming! The stone oven pizzas come out fast and are crisp and absolutely delicious with perfect crunch and toppings! The speciality cocktails are fantastic as well! Don't discount this surprise find in a city with many over exaggerated pizza joints Ovest will give you a true Italian feel and taste!

Awesome Pizza

By OhioTexican |

This is the perfect place to go to before "Sleep No More". Small and intimate. You can watch your pizza cooking in the oven. the drinks were very good and the pizza was very fresh and tasty. A perfect spot for a Peroni or a glass of wine and a quality pizza. You can see the line for "Sleep No More" from across the street. Love this little joint. I will be back in the summer to sit outside, Vote as helpful below

Great italian pizza but not cheap

By nirbenz |

Pizza and apetizers were all great. We were a large group and each had a different pizza from the menu, and all were really great. The beer selection is also nice with some italian beers I hadn't known before. The location is nice if you're walking around chelsea/Highline. We watched a show in the area so the location was perfect. The pizzas aren't cheap, though (although they are pretty big, I'd say 2 hungry people can share one). Recommended, especially if you want an italian pizza rather than those big, thick american pizzas you can get at most other places in the city :-)

Nice ambiance, but far

By fiawn |

The food was tasty (pizza + great salad) and the service cozy. The ambiance is really nice for dinner (low lights, fine music) and i guess that wine lovers enjoyed more than us. It's just the place is far in Chelsea, far from metro :( Beside this, really nice dinner

Amazing Pizza

By Traveler |

I had the Margerita with bufala and was very good.. The restaurant is very cosy and it is perfect for a date and also to have drinks with friends

Nutella pizza...need I say more?

By USCKaboom |

This is one of my favorite local spots. After dinner I wanted to take family out for dessert. Nutella pizza at Ovest came to mind. We grabbed a table and had a plain pizza, which was very nice, and a Nutella, which was oh so perfect. It’s a fun spot. Their pizza crust is excellent.

Strange behavior

By Tomekwolf |

This is our second time in NY. First time we stayed in greenwich and this time we tried chelsea. My wife and I stayed at the Americano Hotel and as this pizza place is just in front we bumped in for a glass of wine on our way back after strolling around the area. It ended up me ordering a bottle of a Valpolicella and my wife a pizza. The place was half full at top. the wine was good and the pizza pretty decent so that was no problem so far but when we asked for the bill it came with 37 dollars of added 'Automatic Gratitude'. When confronted the manager looked really aggressively at me kind yeah that's how we do it, if the stupid tourists don't check the bill they get what they deserve. He repeated 3,4 times asking me 'so you want to take that away' - no explanation, no nothing. Yes in deed was my answer. Afterwards this time the waiter came out with the bill claiming that it was his fault and not the managers and that he had upon our arrival registered a table for six and bla bla bla something I still don't get but well a rip off is a rip off. Well you can say that this experience became memorable :). a late glass of wine and a small bite at a pizzeria that would have been forgotten in a weeks time will now be a part of our New York experience.

Wonderful appetizers. Artichokes

By gregd0wns |

Wonderful appetizers. Artichokes and eggplant along with square pizza with anchovies!! Pasta matti avians was perfect! Nice bottle of wine with excellent service

Honest food

By MBLaval |

Not fancy, not too pricey and good for lunch. Reasonable all the way although a bit hard to find. Worth the detour if you are on Highline.

Good dinner in a nice place.

By GABRIEL U |

Very good place, with a pleasant bar atmosphere, and although it was dinner time there were also families. The dinner was very good, we ordered pasta and the gnocchi dish was excellent. Nice music. Carlos' attention was outstanding.

Ave Ovest!

By Hikingrrrl |

Stumbled onto this place just around the block from one of the High Line entry points. It felt like we had walked into Italy. The pasta was perfectly prepared, pizza as good as or better than any I've had in Italy. Wait staff friendly and upbeat. Only negative was high prices for wine by the glass for not great wine. Oh well, just drown it out with more yummy pasta and pizza!

comfort

By Joe babs |

in the neighbor hood and passed by this pizza place. stopped in and got a table service was quick. small place but well worth the stop. you can watch the fire in the oven along with the pizza. the sliced tuna to start was tender and of course raw. i had the square pizza thin thin thin and to die for she had just a round which also was delicius. would recommened the stop

Neapolitan Pizza

By Gabriele N |

Incredible Pizza at Ovest Pizzoteca , almost close to the real Neapolitan Pizza . Best pizza i had in NYC , way beyond everyone else. I highly recommend it.

Best pizza in the world

By Jonas E |

Just go there! This is the best pizza I have ever tasted. Their truffle pizza is to die for. Service is super fast and the personell are very good and serviceminded.

The place looks better from the outside than what it really is.

By carlosacosta.mx |

I stayed for a week right across the street at the Hotel Americano. Every night I came back I looked at this little very nice looking restaurant and thought I should dine there one day. So I did. The place is average; the pizza is OK but nothing to brag about and the wine -by the glass- I had was also average. I can't say I had a bad dinner experience but I wouldn't go back either.

High line area

By Nicola L |

Great dinner. Pizza with wood oven, delicate squid fry, good arancini and tasty porcini mushroom chicken. Food prepared well and affordable prices. To recommend and return. Cute environment

Great Atmosphere Tasty Food

By kgmalc |

Great Pizza and cool atmosphere. Close to “The Edge” just a short walk on the Highline from Hudson yards. Unfortunately no draft beer though☹️

Good food, fair prices, friendly staff

By r l |

We also ate here before seeing "Sleep No More". Our friend had as great pizza- said it was truly excellent and we had the sea bass special. We were greeted and seated promptly. The fried artichoke appetizer was excellent and the bread was freshly baked and delicious. Though we though the wait for the special was a bit longer than normal and the server did check on the delay and it came out shortly thereafter it was worth the wait- the fish melted in your mouth and had a nice mix of savory ( with the broccoli rabe) and sweet (the tomatoes and cauliflower). Though the broccoli had excess oil for my preference, the flavor and texture were still fine. This is a nice neighborhood place with decent seating, fair prices, and an attentive staff so you can't go wrong here. If we're back in the area, which is likely, we'd be happy to eat here again and can recommend it strongly.

Good but not great

By Jeremy W |

This busy little bar and restaurant close to the galleries of Chelsea. The front of the restaurant is a noisy hip bar and the rear the restaurant. Large selection of pizzas as well as lots of choice for those not in a pizza mood. My friend had an excellent sirloin steak, large and juicy $27. My pizza was very average, thick dough that needed a lot of salt and pepper to bring out the tastes. Quite forgettable $20. The pizza arrived well before the steak so there was a wait whilst one dish got colder before the other arrived. Average service. Too many other places to eat in New York to go back to this restaurant. Noisy as well.

good service and great pizza

By anorth52 |

Lively and busy, friendly and efficient service, good cold beer and excellent pizza, worth a visit. Also very close to High Line.

Great Pizza!

By tylerdurden99 |

This place is has a beautiful wood fired grill that they use expertly to create some great pizza. The pizza I got was the spicy salami. Nice and thin with great ingredients. The atmosphere was hipster with "club" ish music going. Decent bar scene and the wine I had with my pizza worked well. I'd got back for sure.

Walked by here alot, doesn't look like much from the outside.

By theduke44330 |

Walked by here alot, doesn't look like much from the outside, finally went in. Excellent martini's, really good calamari and pizza. Pizza would probably make my top 10 list. Great service.

delicious pizza

By graceandnature |

called in on my last day in NY with my son. We were staying opposite in Hotel Americano and in our 3 days in the city hadn't had any pizza so thought we should call in for our last meal. It is very relaxed and classic italian. we ordered and played the table football outside for a while, as we waited. My son had a salami pizza and I had the gnocchi which came with warm flat bread. Really friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and a cool corner away from the heat of the day. A great way to end our trip.

Nice food!

By 1marx |

Its a nice little place in chelsea. It has a brick oven. We has a salad that was quite good, ragu pasta which had a great potential bur was served lukewarm and a pizza. Everything was ok. Service was very attentive. The music was a little repetitive to my taste.

Frozen pizza

By Monique1970 |

Before seeing the Sleep no More show we wantend to have a quick meal. We had a reservation and when we came in at 6pm the restaurant was empty. However, for some reason, even though the restaurant confirmed our reservation, we were not on the reservationlist. The grumpy and indifferent gay who was responsible for the seating had difficulies handling this. He did not bother to make us feel welcome at all! His collegue took over and we got our table. The waiter was really nice. We had a shared plate with mixed starters to share. Calamari were good. Meatballs were hot outside and cold inside. To our surprise one of the 4 pizza's which we ordered as main dish was served together with the starter. Very odd! We live in Europe in visit Italy very offen for Holidays. I wonder if someone in this so called Italian restaurant, except for our waiter, knows what (Italian) hospitality means! The pizza was frozen and come straight out of the freezer. They were put in a wood fired oven but they were served lukewarm. Double espresso was served in a cappuccino cup, huh?? Never again!

Great Sicilian pizza

By Betty S |

Near theatre we were attending. Found this gem of a p,ac with large ovens, making authentic pizzas of all kinds. Enjoyed veggie Sicilian pizza.

Hard to Find But Find It

By SigEpGov |

A very small place, but very good menu selections, with a number of Italian options along with pizza. Tables are a little small, but the dining area and the bar are small. Not much from the outside, but go ahead and go in. They have great happy hour. If I lived in the area, the would be a regular place for me.

Delicious Pizza Before A Show

By TinyTawnty |

A great place to stop for a meal before going to the Sleep No More show a few doors down. Had the Diavola pizza and Ovest pizza. The spicy salami had the perfect about of spice without being overpowering. Paired with the chili oil, it was amazing. Wine was good too. Don’t remember what kind I got but it was good. Service was fast and friendly. All the staff members were very friendly which is always an added bonus. Will definitely be back!

Very good pizza

By Stan |

Genuenly original and delicious. My friends, however, had me prepared for the best pizza of my life. It was good and I would recommend it to everyone, but don't have insane expectations.

Delicious and relaxing

By Silasroy |

We popped into this place in early afternoon following several hours of Chelsea gallery hopping. Was glad we did. The individual pizzas (I had arugula and parmesan and my date had hot peppers) had a thin, crispy crust, a touch of cheese and just enough sauce to make it all blend together. The beer and wine selection was good and the service was friendly and efficient. Nice place if you're in the neighborhood.

Incredible pizza and gnocci

By Caroline L |

The arugula and bufala pizzas are so good, as is the 4 cheese gnocchi. Amazing cappuccino. Amazing atmosphere. 10/10 recommend by yourself or with a group.

You need to eat here!

By Chris D |

An awesome place to eat…..we stumbled on this place looking for our last meal in NY before leaving and it was superb. Food was excellent; my son was a little picky…..and they catered for him……and the service was superb!! So glad we went here rather then one of the big chain places.

Not nearly as delicious as we hoped - yet a convenient, place near the galleries

By OutdoorsAdventurer |

Happily for us, there are many great pizza places in NYC. And we liked Ovest - but for the location and ambiance, not the pizza or the service. The quality of the ingredients are good, but not the best. The arugula pizza would better if the greens were lightly dressed. The crust is crusty enough, but not as tasty as one would hope for in such a nice place. Very comfortable atmosphere. Ordering and serving was at the right pace, but then it took forever for us to get the check.

Great for italian food

By Ståle K |

Who would think a garage that looks like it´s turned into a bar, really hides an excellent restaurant? We were out for a late meal and went over the street from our hotel to Ovest. We didn´t have high expectations but we where highly surprised. If you have the craving for Italian food in Chelsea go here. We both had pizzas and a starter of fried artichoke. Accomplished with some really good white wine. The service was top notch. The waiter new how to do his stuff. Even poring wine from the right side of the guest. I am totally impressed whit this place. It´s an rustic, intimate restaurant whit a young clientele. The only thing to kick on was the noise level. But I think that that's a part of the hole setup (and maybe its us getting old).

THE Pizza Experience

By Lucas C |

First off, Ovest Pizoteca is located at one of the coolest spots in New York City: under The High Line. Secondly, having one of the best pizzas in town comes with one of the most pleasent experiences in restaurants as well. I mean, on top of a crispy, delicious dough they add all those traditional Italian pizza ingredients PLUS exceptional service, great soundtrack, comfortable environment, perfect lighting, and beautiful people - both the clientele and the staff. What else could you want when enjoying Naples-style pizza?

Pizza Perfection

By Tony K |

Had a family meal here on a Sunday night in Dec prior to a hockey game at MSG. The pizza was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. It is not necessarily a cheap restaurant, but the atmosphere is great and well worth visiting if you like good pizza.

Woohoo!

By Brian J |

I had no idea this little gem was here. We found it and thought we'd check it out. The arancini was so delicious and creamy with a crunchy outer shell. We also shared a pizza and a pasta. Loved everything. And the service was top notch!

Lively and fun--great if you are seeing Sleep No More

By leslie06 |

We chose this restaurant primarily because it was across the street from the venue for "Sleep No More." We were lucky to get a table because this place was hopping and our service staff was very responsive to our needs to be done and paid in 45 minutes. The food was very good. Delicious brick oven pizza and a delightful salad was more than enough for us.

Great pizza/pasta under high line

By WRNL |

Great family dinner on first night in NYC. Nestled under the High Line in Chelsea, place has a cool vibe. Both pizza and pasta dishes were outstanding and service was excellent.

Wide choice of personal pizza

By Jacquie B |

Ovest Pizzoteca lives up to its reputation. We had three of the vegetarian pizzas and they did not disappoint. Easily fed five people with three pizzas. The restaurant only offers personal sized (~12") pizzas. We also shared a couple house salads. The only downside was that they did not have any beer on draft.

Absolutely delicious, highly recommended

By KBSNY |

Atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Staff lovely. Meatball appetizer out of this world and pizza absolutely delicious.

Good pizza however not a blow

By World traveler |

It is a nice pizza place with a good wine list and OK service. The pizzas are nice but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

I went there with my wife. The pizzas were tasty and the atmosphere added to it. My only criticism is the price of the alcohol but this is unsurprising given the location. I would recommend it for the food. The atmosphere was energetic.

Treated like family with amazing food

By Kevin L |

Visited on 12/8 while visting NYC. In June 2012, my wife and I stumbled on another Luzzo pizzeria, Da Mikele. We loved the pizza and the experience. We could have stayed all day. Treated like family with amazing food. During this visit to NYC, we wanted to try another Luzzo restaurant and decided on Ovest. Could not be more pleased. Roberto treated us like family. Our arancini was excellent, complimented by amazing fresh bread and oil, followed by an amazing pizza. We had margaritas for drinks and they were perfect. It is not an inexpensive experience but certainly not unreasonable.I think the Luzzo group restaurants will become part of our routine trips to NYC. Thank you again for helping to make our visit great.

Great pre-theater or anytime restaurant

By diploconcierge |

We dropped by before catching Sleep No More, across the street. Food was delicious. We had the cappriciosa pizza and arugula salad. Service was friendly and prompt.

Expectations not met

I thought that I was in for a great meal when I first walked in . The room was very warm and pleasant with an authentic wood fired oven in the back. I reminded me of wonderful places I had been in Italy. Unfortunately both pizzas we ordered were quite forgettable. Although the prices are very reasonable for the area I would not return.

Tough to find, but a cute spot.

We're not native New Yorkers and had been visiting over the weekend. We made a reservation on Open Table, which was great. We decided to walk from the theater district out to Ovest using GoogleMaps. I had on walking directions and for some reason, Google told us to climb the steps of the High Line and that our restaurant would be on the right. Turns out, it was to the right and DOWN on the street and there was no simple way to get there. There must be new construction going on because we could not find a side street to cut down, so we ended up late to our reservation but they held our table. We had to walk quite a while to find the entrance. We all ordered a variety of dishes - one came out wrong, but the rest were correct. I, personally, had the spinach ravioli. It was good. Not wildly filling, but tasty. My mom had something with sausage and broccoli rabe and she got sick later in the evening. There was some confusion over our bill in the end and our waiter wasn't the most pleasant. We also got blasted with cold air constantly every time the door opened. All in all, a nice enough place but I don't think we'll be back.

Great pizza!

By David G |

We wanted a quick dinner before crossing the road to the theatre each evening and we always had that. Great pizza and also, I discovered on my last couple of visits, excellent pasta dishes too. Such excellent service from the young Italian men who work there too. I tried to recreate their polpette for dinner tonight because they were so good!

Amazing Pizza!

By SarahScipio |

My family if 5 ate here last night with a friend that highly recommended it! She was absolutely right! Located right under the High Line, it's a great find! The hostess was very sweet, our server was excellent and the food...oh em gee...the food! We ordered the Bufala, The Martha (pictured below) and the Diabla. They were all excellent! The Martha was a white pizza that had an amazing balsamic reduction drizzled over it. Perfect balance of savory and sweet. The dough was chewy, lightly charred and a hint of salty-perfection! We also ordered the arancini and calamari for appetizers and both disappeared in 2 minutes! 😂 My only regret is that I didn't order a side of the fresh mozzarella....the table next to us ordered it and as the server passed our table I contemplated snatching it and just paying the consequence later...haha! It's not a huge restaurant so probably wouldn't recommend large parties of 10 or more but a great local spot for the family or to meet friends! Brava!

Brilliant evening from Ireland

Visiting NYC for a few bball games in MSG and decided to eat a little bit away from the main tourist areas. Ovest is around 10th Ave and feels like it’s more for the locals. Awesome vibe - a bit dark but really cool. Appetisers, Pizza, desert (deep fried crunchy pizza dough with Nutella) were all really excellent. The best way to prepare for LeBron in MSG!!! Grazie Ovest!!

Delicious

By MVO1989 |

Traditionally go to UCB for a show and then taxi over to Ovest for dinner. They never fail to serve up something that is delicious. Wines are the big reds from Italia.

Cozy little place

By feddyaroundtheglobe |

Located near the high line, it's a cozy little place. Pizzas were average, i had higher expectations. On the positive, we could eat without having made reservations.

Can’t ask for more

By Steve B |

Popped in here unannounced for a quick dinner. Manager and staff very accommodating, great pizza, great pasta. Perhaps a little difficult to talk over the sounds but great atmosphere all the same.

Out of the way location, but worth the trip

By JB10001 |

Unless you're looking for a bite to eat in a casual atmosphere before heading for Scores, it's not likely you'd end up here. It is worth going out of the way for and is only around the corner from an entrance/exit to the Highline. The place is small and the decor is an industrial (in keeping with its surroundings), casual chic. Enough about the location, the food is what makes this place special. The starters of polpetti and polpo (separate dishes) got us off to a great start. The pizza (Diavola, Martha and Bufala) were all off the charts delicious. The tagliatelle and paccheri were devoured quickly. The bar is tiny but the bartender was eager to please and crafted a custom cocktail with our input. The waitstaff was friendly and offered suggestions that were spot on, but they could have been more attentive.

Ovest a hidden gem

By Great Expectations |

Off the beaten track for tourists but worth the walk. Great atmosphere great attentive service and fabulous food. The Pinot noir was excellent. Cannot recommend enough.

Great pizza & atmosphere!

By Tourist5337 |

We were looking for a restaurant to rest our feet after a long day seeing the sights and we luckily stumbled upon this great restaurant! Right off the High Line / close to Hudson Yard. Delicious pizza, great atmosphere, friendly service. Definitely recommend!

A good place to hang if you’re in the hood

By jessehendon |

Our first day in our new home and what do we discover but this little gem around the corner! We had a Piccante pizza, which was nice. It was a solid pie and one I’d recommend if you enjoy Napoletana pie with sausage! The ambiance was nice, would be a great spot for after work drinks with friends. I don’t know if I’d go out of my way for the experience, but if you’re in the neighborhood, it’s worth checking out.

Not so great

By annalackey |

As we were waiting for a show, we got there at 5 pm and ordered sangrias and we were told they were out because only one pitcher was made and the other table ordered it, although they made a point to advertise their sangria special. We also ordered a fruit and cheese plate and the cheese was hard, there were grapes and a quarter of an apple, not worth the price! Waste of good money!

Good salads and pizza

By Wanderlust777 |

We had lunch at Ovest to escape the crowds at Hudson Yards. It turned out to be an excellent choice, with good service and good food and very fairly priced for the quality of the food. Very quiet on a Saturday afternoon. I especially recommend the kale salad.

Oven fired pizza in High line area

By CPBGal |

Love this pizza place. Nice ambience and reasonable prices. We had the Amertticiana pasta and Diavoloz pizza. But any wood fired pizza is good! We had dinner here first then walk up to High line , the next block over.

Nothing great, nothing terrible

By theFussyFoodie |

Maybe even 3.5 stars. We went for a Saturday lunch around 2 pm. Super bizarre location, I'm surprised anyone was even there, but a few tables were full. It actually got a lot fuller as the afternoon went on, but I'm assuming that's really because they were showing the World Cup game and everyone was glued. Server was very nice and amenable to customization. I got the Bufala, except I switched out mozzarella for blue cheese, so it wasn't really a Bufala after all. I also added fresh garlic. My boyfriend got the Ovest (ricotta, mozz, tomato sauce, spicy salame, black pepper, and basil). We both asked for it lightly done. They were both good for sure, but mine was not lightly done at all. It was charred and stiff and the dough was hard. I tried his dough, which was a lot better, but definitely not top quality dough. Nonetheless, the pizzas were good. The Italian blue cheese I got was mild, which was nice. Not too pungent. The spicy salame (sopressata) on the Ovest was also much milder than most, so didn't overpower the taste. Ricotta cheese was a good addition, too. Also, the pizzas are so so small and it doesn't make sense to get the larger size because it's only 2 inches more in diameter, but price wise proportionally way more expensive. You cannot get full off of the 10 inch, that's for sure. It was good, but I wouldn't actively go back given the small size, the inconvenient location, and the just good quality of the food. Wouldn't put up a fight if someone really wanted to go there, though.

Great wood fired classics

We had a group of six visit tonight. Most had pizza, but two had pasta + all we're thrilled with what came out!

Fun place to escape the rain

By Pierre B |

Enjoyed a personal pizza with friends while waiting out a rainstorm. The menu is quite varied and the pies were delicious. A stone’s throw from the trendy downtown Hudson yard complex and thus very popular. Also across from the Americano hotel so quite busy but worth the wait.

Great aperatif

By calvinwei |

Nice drink before dinner. We didn't have pizza there but the aperatif is nice to hang out with friends.

Great pizza if you are in the area

By tms215 |

This is a very cool space. Excellent food, especially known for it’s pizza. The pies are small so you can sample multiple offerings. Also, a nice pasta selection. Good wine list and a full bar (there is a small bar with seats in the back). Very good service. The only knock is the location. It is a little sketchy and you wouldn’t travel to eat here. At a business meeting or in a hotel nearby? Live in the neighborhood? An excellent choice for your pizza “fix”

One of the best restos in thr West side

The service is always amazing. It is not a big place but it is great for lunch/dinner. I love the pizzas and the golosa salad is amazing! Highly recommend this place for anyone in the area.

Authentic pizza in NYC

By hutchy013 |

Amazing Pizza, very authentic. Dough is proved perfectly and worked with beautifully. Leading to a great texture and tasty base. Topping are fresh and lovely. The atmosphere in the Reastraunt is wonderful and we could have stayed all night.

Superb!

By CFS16 |

We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with some family. My brother raved about this place and had to take us there. Unreal pizza! Here is the good and the bad: Good- Amazing pizza Fantastic menu selection from pizza to sandwiches to salads The Arancini are mouth watering Impeccable and attentive service Fantastic wait staff Really quaint and inviting ambiance, very rustic and warm feel Great décor and layout The front of the pizzeria opens during the summer for outdoor seating Did I mention amazing pizza? Prepared as you wait Fresh and delicious ingredients, the prosciutto was perfect The taste of everything we ordered was beyond expectation Great wine and drink selection Clean and I mean clean Great value for great quality (pricey but beyond worth it) Bad- Parking, but that is anywhere in NYC The fact that I don't live across the street and can't visit daily Our waiter spoke Italian with us, which made the experience even better. Hard to impress a pure Italian with food, but they did. Fantastic all around, I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Trendy. Menu was rather limited. I was surprised. Cocktail was tasty. Comfortable. Well priced. Burrata pizza with sweet imported tomatoes. Yum.

Great food and service

By Lara B |

What a hidden gem! We were heading to Sleep No More and looking for a place nearby, and I found Ovest online. We weren't quite sure what to expect but it was fabulous! Four of us dined and ordered a pizza as an appetizer to share, and then each had pasta. We had trouble deciding which dish was best! Everything we tasted was delicious. The service was polite and prompt, and our server was very honest about what drinks and wines he would recommend and those he would NOT recommend. We had a fantastic dinner and would certainly recommend Ovest to anyone in the area!

Great Pizza

This place is a hidden little gem in the city. The pizza is amazing, great service, nice wine list. Had a great salad to start. Everything we ordered was great. Definitely worth a stop in. Casual.

Authentic Neopolitan Pizza

By rcw923 |

My sister and I ate here prior to going to Sleep No More because it is right across the street. We split a pizza, cheese balls, and salad. Everything was delicious! It was just like the pizza I had when I went to Naples, Italy. The servers were really nice too! I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something a little different than the typical NYC-style pizza.

Such a nice little spot

By BridgetF |

Such wonderful Neapolitan-style pizza and delicious appetizers. This place truly exceeded our expectations for a little neighborhood joint.

Great food

By 60004Kathy |

This was our 3rd visit to Ovest over a 5 year period. I was surprised at how nonbusy they were, but it was a Tuesday before Thanksgiving and it was pouring rain. The cocktails were ok. I had a memorable old fashioned there a couple of years ago, but this time wasn't so good. Clams, calamari, mixed green salad, gnocchi with 3 sauces, capriccioso pizza, campana pizza, and sausage pasta dish. All of the food we ordered was delicious. My husband and I were in Italy this fall, and Ovest's calamari was prepared better than the 3 times we ordered it in Italy.

Excellent pizza!

By Cappuccione |

I discovered this place near the High Line walk in New York. I wanted to eat an Italian meal and I was not disappointed! We had a pepperoni pizza cooked in a wood oven and a risotto with prawns and courgettes. Both good and cooked to perfection! Good job, guys!

Favourite Italian in NYC 🍕

By K14K |

Highly recommend Ovest. We came here twice during our short stay in NYC because their true Italian pizzas are the best we’ve ever tasted (outside of Italy). The burrata starter is a must, and if you have room the apple tart is unbelievable. The waiter who served us has worked at various pizza restaurants in London in the past, so was able to make some excellent recommendations and provide 10/10 service. We don’t often leave reviews, but when we find a restaurant as good as this we always make sure to share our experience.

Industrial architecture hides great pizza restaurant

By Mike P |

Close by an entrance to the Highline walkway. Small, bustling restaurant with fast friendly service, Serves great pizza and salads. Good value for money. Has that authentic atmosphere that the chains can never replicate

Delicious pizza close to High Line

By la7171 |

We were looking for a good pizza place after we had enjoyed a walk on the Hugh Line. The pizza was close to perfect. It tasted just like we were living in Italy again! They even had my favorite infused spicy olive oil. The caprese salad was also delicious although I wish they had sprinkled a little more of their perfect balsamic vinegar in it. My only complaint is out plates were taken up a little too quickly.

Great Drinks

By Ashley N |

My boyfriend and I stopped into Ovest for drinks before we went to Sleep No More. One thing you must know about me, when a bartender tells me that they blue cheese stuffed olives I AM SOLD YOU ARE MY MOST FAVORITE PLACE EVER AND I AM COMING BACK FOR MORE. We did not eat here, but we're interested in stopping in again for more drinks and food next time.

Rude staff and cockroaches

By Alexa S |

I booked a large group lunch at Ovest. The food was good, no complaints there. However, the service was seriously lacking. We ordered a bunch of pizzas to share. When they came out, I asked the waiter where one of the types I ordered were. He insisted he remembered what I said and I did not order any of that type. Instead, all of our pizzas had pork products on it which I most definitely did not order since half of the people there do not eat pork/meat at all. Three other people in my party spoke up and said they hard me order it correctly, the waiter insisted he remembered (even though he wrote nothing down). He said I could order and pay for the additional pizzas if I wanted it. After lunch, we ordered coffees. One of the other individuals at the table grab a packet of sugar. When she did that, not one but THREE cockroaches run out out of the bowl and went under our table. The staff didn't offer to move us, did not try to remove the bugs but just put the sugar from the bowl onto a plate and give it back to us... There were no apologies, no offer to take the coffees off the bill, no nothing. Very disappointed as I picked this restaurant for my group of 13.

More than Pizza is Served Here

By Tim O |

We were early for a show across the street and this was the closest place for a meal, so we came in, liked what we saw and the three of us decided to stay and eat. Two of us had the lasagna and one had a pizza. We all agreed it was all good. Service was friendly, but I had to keep raising and waving my arm to get his attention. The food here is a bit pricey for what you get and the wine list is not that good. A good thing we double checked our bill, we were charged for two bottles of wine instead of one. I hailed him down and he said something like oops, let me fix that and he did. I would like to think it was an honest mistake, but we all walked out of there feeling that it wasn't. Which is a lesson we all need to learn. ALWAYS double check your bill, no matter where you are. We almost let this one slip by.

Cozy and delicious

By justblu |

This eatery is great for date night or just hanging out w your friends/family. It can get a little loud but that's what happens when you're in close quarters and having a good time! Appetizers we enjoyed were the baby octopus in plum tomato/garlic sauce, the fried artichokes and the pork/veal/spinach meatballs in tomato sauce. The entree we were Martha pizza which my friend loved. I had the Broccoli and shrimp in garlic and pepper flakes. The hostess is friendly and attentive. The waiters are nice.

Great pizza

By BurbsGuy |

Excellent pizza and great prices given the location. Service was prompt and friendly. Wine options very solid

Best Pizza in Town

By 68berndl |

Ovest Pizzoteca is right off the High Line along the reemerging W 27th Street, close to Hudson Yard this is the destination for Napolitan-style dining. Delicious wood brick oven made pizza, great warm Italian atmosphere, friendly impeccable service. We had the recommended Pizza Special with Mozarella, Prociutto San Danielle, Arugula, Burrata and Truffel Pate – a delicious dream. This restaurant is a hidden treasure - definitely recommend!

No disappointments!

By 60004Kathy |

I am hard to please. I usually have at least one item that disappoints me. It was all yum and more yum. The drinks are dangerous. They don't taste as strong as they really are. We had the Autumn old fashioned and The mexican. Both were perfectly made and not sweet. For an appetizer we (well my daughter hoarded most of it) had the tuna tartare and the Contadita salad. For our main dishes we ordered the Campana pizza, the Bocatini, the Picante pizza, the Margarita pizza, and tri-Gnocchi plate. The pizzas are wood fired and have that doughy and crispy crust. All the sauces were flavorful and beautifully paired with the pasta.

We had a lovely lunch, will go back

By Leanne_NYNewYork |

Not perfect, but pretty close as we had a lovely lunch on Columbus Day. We were able to eat at a table at the sidewalk on this nice warm fall day, and a great big white friendly dog was at the table next to us (really--technically on the sidewalk, don't want to get anyone in trouble). It was a perfect location for a relaxed lunch before we headed for the High Line. The service is laid back but attentive. The pizza was very very good. The wine selection is also nice. The street is quiet so if you have the good fortune of eating here on a warm day, you can eat practically outside without dying of truck fumes. My only criticism would be that we stood for longer than usual waiting to be seated, not because it was crowded (there were plenty of tables) but because the guy who was supposed to be seating us was chatting. We had a nice time chatting with the waiter (my friend is native Italian and I speak Italian), and it was a very positive experience. I definitely recommend it.

Great pizza

This one was a little bit off the beaten track, we wouldnt have found it if not for Tripadvisor. Great place to stop for lunch if your walking the high lane. The pizzas was very good and seemed really genuine.

Amazing Italian pizza

By IAmABerliner |

I happened to eat here after a show in the McKittrick hotel opposite. The pizza was real Italian style, baked in a wood oven and absolutely delicious. It turned out that the owner is actually from Naples - I could taste that, I believe. Really good, thumbs up!

Family dinner pizza salads full bar desserts all delicious. We had the Margarita pizza and a few others.Warm inviting atmosphere.

Great find across from the Hotel Americano

By Gregor G |

We were in New York to see our son and on our last night we were tired from sightseeing so wanted to find a restaurant close to our hotel. We ended up at Ovest Pizzoteca which we found looking out of our hotel room window. It's a bit of a hole-in-the wall but once inside it had a great vibe, terrific food and excellent service. We wanted a lighter meal so the three of us shared the Bietole Salad, and two pizzas - La Quadrala - Marinara and Pizza Napoletana - Arugala and they were both excellent. We didn't drink that night but the restaurant seemed to have a good wine list and the total before tax and tip was under $50.00.

Aioli and the Calamari were delicious!

By JoseBido |

Loved the pizza and calamari with aioli sauce! The waitress provided good service, and the place was not so crowded at the time i went (5pm)

Delicious

By Lily D |

Lovely place for dinner, cozy interior and amazing food! The service was friendly, quick and super efficient. Would definitely recommend.

delizioso!!

By Pamlalaland |

We loved everything about this place. It is a classic Italian pizzeria with a brick oven that delivers a thin and crispy crust, they top it off with a light tomato sauce and great quality toppings. The ambiance is absolutely lovely and its located one block from high line park.

Best Happy Hour ever!

By deborah g |

They have a happy hour i think from about 4-7. You just have to buy a drink and they have a free little buffet of italian antipasti & pizza. Delicious good quality eats not cheap filler food. Everyone that works there speaks Italian so gave it a cool authentic vibe in the heart of Chelsea. They were also super cool about not having to get alcoholic drinks for happy hour. Which is a good thing for me since I'm allergic to alcohol. Drinks were reasonably priced and they didn't try to push you to order more drinks even though we lingered at our table for quite a long time. Will definitely go back when I'm back in N.Y.

Nice little Italian restaurant in Chelsea

By D. Aaronson |

Tucked away near Chelsea Park, this was an enjoyable experience. Had a pizza, a pasta and the pan fried artichoke appetizer and enjoyed all three. Ate outside along the street where there are several tables so I'm not even sure what the interior is like.

Best Pizza I’ve ever had.

Excellent pizza, better service. Hands-down the best crust I’ve ever had. You won’t be disappointed.

Favorite Place to Order Pizza

This is by far our favorite local place to order a quick pizza. It is always there in about a half hour. Fresh ingredients and always hot. We keep going back.

Feeling back to Italy

By CodaQ |

I haven't tried other pizzerias in New York City but this one definitely deserves a try! You may feel a bit confused at the beginning, as you find a big cocktail bar and disco music at the entrance, but then you will get amazed by the freshness of ingredients and the warmth by the owners. Trust an Italian! ;)

Excellent

By Tom P |

I highly recommend Ovest. Their menu is quite good. Their cocktails are innovative and the service is attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere is lively and fun. Probably a bit noisy for kids...

Fantastic find!

By mkd_travelmania |

A pizza restaurant in true Italian tradition (not a watered down american version). Pasta is homemade, pizza is wood oven baked, light and crispy. The pizza quadratta burratta is perfect. Try the pappardelle with pancetta and green peas: not a trace of cream still delicious. All yummy. very child friendly: They have a foosball table outside!

Awesome food and upbeat atmosphere

By Curtis Y |

We made our reservations on Open Table and were promptly seated. Although we sat at a small table next to the wait station we had friendly service and a great meal. The restaurant is loud, maybe the Pizzoteca name should have given that away. :) But not too loud, after dinner we grabbed a seat at the small bar and enjoyed an after dinner cocktail. We both ordered a pizza, 12" in size and just enough if you are hungry. Both of them were delicious. I would definitely return to this place!

Amazing food and atmosphere!

By Alice |

Went here for food and drinks for a family birthday called in without a booking and they easily accommodated 6 of us without a reservation. This cosy little Italian offers wood fired pizzas which are amazing so so fresh and tasty. This hidden Gem is very close to The Edge which is what we were doing previously before we decided that we were really hungry. We were celebrating a birthday and they happily did a cake with a candle in for us, which was such a lovely added touch. I took the mountain portion of pasta with me in a doggy bag and ate it this morning reheated. If your looking for tasty Italian food with a hip atmosphere and some delicious wine this is the spot to try.

Lovely and warm environment!

By Eener A |

The pizza is exuisite and the salad was plentirful. AND you are NOT rushed!!! Some tasty appetizers and rounded off with great servcie! Worth a visit, and especially good for a convenient local near the High Line.

Fantastic Pizza

Looking for great pizza when in NYC? This is the place. I love their Bufalo Margarita. Tastes like the pizza I ate in Italy. Place is small and cozy and the servers are friendly and efficient. My nephew lives in Manhattan and when I visit, our first stop is Ovest.

Hidden gem, delicious food

By BuffyLou |

Wow - where to start? We met up with friends at Hudson Yards, and decided to head here for lunch based on TA ratings and photos. Arrived around 12:45pm on a Friday, and it was crowded but they had a six-top available - Fate knew we were going there. Marvelous food, great ambience, perfect lunch experience. We ordered wine and beer to drink. Hubby had coffee, declared it amazing. Bufala and Arugola pizzas; Polipetti Alla Luciana, Millefoglie Di Melanzane, Insalate Ricca and I can't remember the rest. We shared some of the dishes. Sadly did not get photos of all. I had the eggplant, and it was so very good. Service was impeccable. We relaxed, took our time, talked and laughed and ate. This was the perfect spot for all of that. Looking forward to returning on my next trip to NYC.

Dinner and a Show

By Sommersby74 |

Walked in for dinner before seeing "Sleep No More" across the street. Fresh, quick pizza and house Pinot. Specialty pizzas on menu but we built our own. Delicious! Very good service. $50 for two.

Fast, a lot, tasty

By Dens_MAC1 |

Fast, plentiful, delicious. Very tasty pizza on a live fire. We ordered pasta with seafood, there was a lot of seafood very tasty

Overpriced disgusting meal.

By Martin K |

It is a great looking place with a nice atmosphere but the food is disgusting. The pasta was badly cooked and tasted terrible. The pasta with meatballs was disgusting. The meatballs were still cold. I felt that it was a store bought frozen meal that was heated in the microwave. Service was so so. Prices were high. I will NOT go there again.

Trip with family and friends

Pizza & ambience are great! Our favorite place to get pizza when in Chelsea area! 2 pizza are good for a party of 4. Crust is amazing.

Perfect food; very loud

By tedjerome |

The location below the current north end of the High Line and favorable Yelp reviews drew us here for dinner. It has a cosy and warm atmosphere with a brick oven in the back. The food we ordered was prepared and cooked to perfection-- the best we've eaten in a long time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the (house) music, though pleasant, was TOO LOUD! I measured it, and it was as loud as a recent front row rock concert I had attended, although I knew to use earplugs for that!

It's just not.... GREAT PIZZA..there's more to it

By JoeP2794 |

This is a fun wonderful great restaurant that serves excellent pizza too. Rustic feel and just wonderful great atmosphere to be in. I could eat here once a week and LOVE every experience. Great Italian wines too, by the glass and full bottles.

Proper wood fired pizza

By jack64 |

Located right next to the High Line. Good starters and good pizza (wood fired oven). Italian beers. No desert. Bad coffee (but we weren't charged for it). Nice interior but noisy (poor acoustics & loud music). Service was efficient but a bit cool/perfunctory.

Unexpected Gem

By Abdulkader T |

We didn't expect this hole in the wall to be amazing. But, gently coated calamari, lightly fried artichokes, melt in your mouth ravioli, we lingered on every bite in order to savor it completely. Then, we asked our waiter ivan for a dessert recommendation and he only enhanced our pleasure with tariff gelato, a walnut chocolate covered expresso gelato concealing vanilla gelato. The price was reasonable and we look forward to our next visit to test their marquee pizzas.

Great Location, Reasonably Priced, Decent Food

By El_Pelicano |

We stopped here last Friday for dinner before the Sleep No More performance, which is directly across the street. It was a great choice for dinner, in the perfect location with a fun and warm atmosphere, and it was reasonably priced. The food was just average, but average was good enough for us on this night. We ordered three dishes: --Beet salad, a tasty heap of cubed beets in a vinaigrette dressing. Very good it not particularly memorable. --Tagliatelle with peas and pancetta. The best thing we ordered. Fresh pasta in olive oil, not cream. Very good. --Brutta Ma Buona pizza, with sausage and olives. We were hoping for an amazing pizza, and while this was good, it was neither memorable or amazing. Kind of average. We also ordered glasses of supertuscan chianti, which tasted like a decent but not superlative house wine. Total for three people: $100. Ovest Pizzoteca: It's in a great location, reasonably priced, and it serves good food. What more do you want?

Amazing Dining Experience!

We had a great dinner here before the play "Sleep No More." Attentive service and delicious food added to our amazing night. Try the carpaccio appetizer, it's really good.

Great for groups, lots of flavorful pies

By SimeyTravels |

This little restaurant was perfectly situated for our needs. Our work event was just down the block, and we'd promised lunch to our guests who'd traveled into town to attend. Turns out, there were two lunches: one smaller group that consisted of mostly teenaged kids and their chaperones (which I started at, but did not attend) and another with nine of our other guests, mostly adult with a few teenaged students included. The hostess didn't even blink an eye when we came walking through asking for a table (or at seeing me asking for a table to accommodate a group less than an hour after my first visit doing the same thing, haha.) We were shown to a large table towards the back and huddled around the menu to figure out what to order. We went with a number of different pizzas and some individual entrees for the vegan and some of the younger attendees. In total, we got: the diavola ($21), the capricciosa ($21), the bufala ($18), the arugula ($22), two orders of the tagliatelle fredo with shrimp ($16 each), the martha ($22), a bucatini alla matriciana ($23), a ravioli ($22) a kale salad ($17) and a Cesare salad ($15). Quite a bit of food, but the group was large. Everything was delicious, though I did only have a couple slices of some of the different pies that were plopped in front of me. I didn't eat much because I was still full from the previous night's dinner, but I did enjoy the flavors of the slices I ate. The consensus around the table was that the food was delicious and I'm glad the restaurant made me look good for the group, ha.

Enjoyed, would go again

Took two 14yos here for dinner - we were on the High Line and getting hungry, and it was close and rated well. It was earlyish (maybe 5:45?) for dinner on a Saturday, otherwise we might not have been seated immediately. It’s not a large place. But we were, and we each ordered a pizza - bufala for the girls and the one with eggplant and mushrooms for me. It was brought quite quickly and was fresh and tasty. Came to about $60 with a soft drink but before the tip, but we did bring home a few leftover slices, and for NYC I didn’t think that price was at all unusual. Decor, in case anyone cares, is kind of funky industrial. Next time I will try a pasta dish.
