We could see this rooftop bar from our hotel and were able to secure a reservation for 11:15 pm on Friday evening. It was a happening place with a good drink selection and small plates available until 12 midnight. Offered great views of the city.

The PHD Terrace rooftop in New York city seemed like a great idea for summer outing. I am a photographer and I carry my photo camera around, obviously New York City is a great place to photograph, and one does not want to miss an opportunity. However, the security at the PHD rooftop stopped me because of my professional camera and did not want to let me in, unless I gave my camera to them until I am at the terrace. Every professional photographer would know better than to give their camera away. Not only, they could just tell me not to use it, but they wanted to confiscate my camera while I am there. Strange rule for insignificant venue. Even the Louvre in Paris don't confiscate cameras. This is a message to all who carry their photo cameras with them, before you go to this roof top, leave your camera at home. I didn't sit at this rooftop bar, neither my friends. Obviously, they are losing business this way too.

Are you kidding? ALL the good reviews and mainly the great photos are completely misleading. I read many reviews stating PhD Terrace as a fabulous Christmas cocktail bar… Do not believe these reviews or photos. It is a very small bar. No craft high end cocktails. Slow service. And overall bad vibe. Wasted my reservation

Nice drinks, nice bar, nice view, nice people! I‘ll visit again! When it‘s nice weather you can sit outside.

Really nice rooftop, awesome view outside. Not too expensive for being close to BroadWay on a rooftop. We Will definetly come back! Thank you Annmarie for the service!

upon recommendation from our hotel (Hilton Midtown) we stopped into the PHD Terrace for a glass of wine and appetizer. Location is great, environment is nice, outside area is great. Unfortunately, the service really needs help. servers by passed us a couple of times, we flagged one down and got an order in to the kitchen for sliders and fries. No attention paid by the server: no water, no utensils, no napkins. Missed our order for a second round of drinks. Overall, disappointing.

Pre-anniversary dinner drinks with friends were amazing. Lovely cocktails, wonderful friends and beautiful views! We have recommended to others visiting the city and look forward to returning!

It is usually a difficult place to go into but with the help of Adam, the promoter, me and my friend were able to get in easily last Friday. Place was full. Everybody dancing, DJs doing an amazing job. We initially planned just to get some drinks but ended up enjoying dancing that night. Loved the place. Adam also invited us to a private modeling event happening next week. Glad to have some connections around the city. Give Adam a call, he can get you in the guest list. (609)9484732.

Misleading about dream flowers in the summer for cocktails. The flowers were plastic from the dollar store. Really a waste of time.

Such a great place to unwind after a busy day in the city. Typical NYC expensive drinks but the views are totally worth it.

My sister and I checked out PHD on a Sunday night, so the rooftop had plenty of seating and we could talk without raising our voices. Bartender (blonde female), when we explained that we were trying out several places, offered a few suggestions for additional stops. A glass of sauv blanc was pretty pricey at $16, but it's a rooftop hotel bar in NYC, so not surprising.

You need to check in at the entrance and get a wrist band as an entry ticket. Take an elevator up and then take some stairs up again to reach to a bar space with great views of Manhattans through large windows. If you like to have a 360 view you need to go up another floor to the top of the building. Good foods and excellent services are promised. Please enjoy!

Near Times Square it's nice place to hang out with a Times Square view . Open terrace is small area but it's nice Interiors is average not extra ordinary.. Bar area is nice and nice selections of cocktails and drinks

Rooftop bar that overlooks times square. Spacious enough although not sure if enough space for weekend business. Nice atsmopher with music but not too loud that you can't speak with your friends.

Title should explain, but service was awful, 8% “admin fee” added to each bill, and I had to go to the bar to get service despite the fact our section had a server.

Loved PHD Rooftop. I personally think it’s a better vibe than 230 Fifth. It’s less crowded and noisy. The views are absolutely breathe taking. The food is delicious. We had the coconut shrimp, calamari, truffle fries and chicken empanadas and enjoyed all of it. The drinks are on the pricey side but worth it if you’re looking for a nice rooftop that isn’t overly crowded and just want to hangout and have a good time. Wild berry is a must try!!! The staffs are very friendly.

Situated at the top of Dream Hotel this terrace has amazing (evening) views of Times square and district. Cool place, very popular with the young and trendy locals who queue down the street to get in on busy nights (such as Saturday). If you are resident in the hotel you are of course not expected to queue. Prices a little higher than a regular bar but worth it for the views and experience. Drinks range from a $17 cocktail to a $1,650 bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild Bordeaux. I had a cocktail!

Got thrown out, literally, just with the explanation that the manager felled hurrased, but didn’t want to talk to us. Apparently PHD at its best.

The PhD Terrace was the right amount of bougie. Plus, the customer service was outstanding. We popped a squat at the rooftop bar, which is winterized btw. It provided the perfect ambiance to stare loving into each other's eyes lol. It also gave me the chance to do it for the gram! If you're looking to catch some photos, THIS IS IT! The rooftop level is a great space for a date night or a girls night out. There is also space on the second floor, which is where the DJ is set up. We didn't get a chance to check it out, because I was getting hangry. Just know the music was jumping!

Could not agree more with the other reviewer who complained about cocktails that taste like water at $17. They are a joke. I mentioned it and was basically told in more polite terms that they are as bad as I was saying ("made to go down smoothly", "well hidden" and insulting nonsense like that). I also asked for a refill for my ginger ale at $6 which was a tiny glass with more ice than drink. Found $12 on the bill for that part of the joke. Food was very slow but good actually, otherwise I would have given 1 star.

Checked here out after dinner with friends and really enjoyed the beautiful views of Time Square and the cityscape. The drinks were great although the service was a bit slow. The music and overall vibe was great as well and helped end the night on a high!

We were staying in the hotel and booked a table for 2 for after our show. On going up we were brought up to a table and provided a credit card to start a tab. The bar had a nice atmosphere with good music and considering the location it was reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and attentive and provided a great service we really enjoyed our visit.

Rooftop with a starry sky where excellent cocktails are served in a lounge atmosphere quite young. Very nice bar with a small restaurant to share to accompany cocktails. We had a very good evening!

Very cool hip place. It was amazing! Views are unbelievable and the music is really great.I really recommend partying here.

Nice place with nice view. A lot of young people but still nice atmosphere. Ok prices although, nothing special.

Fun bar, nice crowed and views of the city. We stayed at the Dream hotel so we had privilege to get in (no wait in line) which was a plus. There are several bars so you won't wait long for a drink. Drinks $15 average, bottle service around $2,500. When we went it was decorated with a lovely floral passage way, nice for photo op.

First you wait in line outside and have your ID checked before you enter. Again you are checked to make sure you're legal before going up the tiny elevator to the top two floors. The elevator stops on the top floor where all the young gorgeous 20 something's are dancing to heart pounding music. The next floor up is more quiet with a beautiful view of the city with access to an outdoor roof patio section. Our server Miky Bostic was very sweet and attentive. Expect to spend over $100 for a party of four on one round of drinks. Dress up and have fun. Also known as The Bar at Dream or The Dream Bar.

Enjoyed a cocktail and the view one evening while staying at Dream hotel Midtown. Love this place!!!!!!

Ok we really liked the bartender. He was nice and our drinks were good. Our main issue lies with the bouncer. My friend and I are both 22 years old and have vertical ID’s. The bouncer couldn’t even look us in the eye he just shook his head denying us after he using his blue light (pretending to do his job correctly). Clearly can’t tell the difference between a real or fake ID. I understand being strict in the city but isn’t it literally your job to be able to tell a real from a fake. My only piece of advice for this place is to HIRE A NEW BOUNCER!

We were staying at the Dream Hotel below PHD and were frequent visitors. Service was quick and there were plenty of seats. Also security was very good without being over the top. Not cheap, but drinks were generous and well made.

Exclusive clientele needing big wallets for the prices. However a must do for a cocktail with a view of Broadway

10/10 food for taste (big rip off but that’s expected) 10/10 atmosphere 6/10 service Table/ seating is meh for big groups Small food portions Bathroom is weirdly small Great for pictures Workers brought out the bottles with sparklers and b day sign which was great Have your ID ready before taking the elevator upstairs Got Hampton Water wine, Veuve champagne which all tastes good but not worth 50x the actual price Would go back but just for drinks

It was my pre-birthday and couldn't be more amazing. We had food (the Mac n cheese little balls are to die for) and cocktails (order the sunflower girl if you like them sweet). Music is great, especially if you like latin music with a little mix. View is beautiful and the sunflower tunnel is just the cutest. Remember to book with anticipation and cancel with time, otherwise they'll charge you.

A great spot to hang out and grab some views... cozy and classy décor. Friendly Staff. Although the drinks and appies that we had where pricey... even for NYC!

Exploring the streets and avenues of New York we happened upon the PhD Terrace at Dream Downtown. It was early for dinner and we settled for Happy Hour on the rooftop. It was just at the beginning of the specials and we were pleased we stopped in when we did. Shortly, the rooftop began to fill to capacity. Many appeared to be return guests and we now know it was because of the food atmosphere and staff. It was marvelous! It was comfortable and elegant.

Attended a professional organization gathering to stunning views, florals everywhere, small but cozy bar, great bar tender, sorry didn't get name to give shout out!

Nice venue up on 14th floor rooftop of Dream Hotel. More suitable for cocktails and fun gatherings than for food. Nevertheless, food was excellent, quality and taste added to quick and responsive service. A bit pricey for the setting but worth it.

I had one of my best party time at PhD. Very good drinks, dance floor and rooftop view of the city! Thanks to the promoter Adam Cohen. He really made my night awesome. We’d not able to get in so fast if not because of Adam have us on his VIP list! He gave us free drinks throughout the night too. Contact this awesome guy for a fun night, his number is 9293547877!

The PHD Terrace has a great view of the city and Broadway. This is well worth the visit as the view is great. It is a very nice atmosphere to meet friends or as a couple. This is well worth the visit and we will be back.

I made a Thursday night reservation for my fiancé’s birthday (even confirmed the day before) and arrived a few minutes early only to be told that they cannot seat us due to “overbooking”. The guy at the door flat out told me “I know you made a reservation, but we can’t accommodate you.” Completely unprofessional with their “IDGAF” pretentious attitude as if it was my fault they overbooked. They didn’t even call me beforehand to let me know; completely wasted my time. Needless to say I will never be going there again nor will I ever recommend. There are so many better managed, beautiful, and awesome rooftops in the city, don’t waste your time with this place.

My friend and I grabbed a table and were ignored. Every other person/group was constantly checked on and had their orders taken except us. We were well dressed and ready to spend the ridiculous amount on cocktails however we walked out after waiting 30 mins to be even offered a menu.

Service is lousy, took the waitress 3 tries to bring out the correct order for 8 people... Getting a pitcher of water was even more hilarious, after 4 tries they came out with the correct amount of glasses, ice and didn't spill half of it on the table... At 8 bucks for a bottle of Heineken you would expect more, imagine if we had ordered the 50000 dollar bottle of champagne on the drink menu..... Atmosphere was like being at a wake...we were afraid to laugh.View was great.

A very nice rooftop bar, very cosy and a good selection of drinks. We went there 2 days in a row, first time before sunset and second late evening. It gets quite busy late on, but this makes for a better atmosphere.

The bar mail suggested a nice rose, since they don't carry pinot grigio. Good enough. Let us borrow her phone to read the menus! We didn't order food, but there were some interesting choices.

PhD is the go-to place for me and my friends when we want to go out and not make the trek downtown. It’s in a super convenient location, and pretty easy to get a reservation. The sweeping rooftop views of Midtown Manhattan are absolutely incredible. The cocktails and drinks are pretty good too, but the real star of the show is the view.

This place has some amazing views as your on the terrace it’s especially beautiful at night as its all lit up. The decor is very modern and nice with a good DJ set to really get your night going! A great selection of cocktails. Though I can’t say the same about the bar staff as the girl that served us was so miserable and not polite at all, it was like she didn’t wanna be there and she had a lot of issues with some customers regarding their drinks and she was arguing with them. Not very professional at all, other than that though we still had a great night with lovely views.

We went to PHD Terrace last night to party and celebrate with a friend who was in town visiting from France. The rooftop was lovely and we ordered several small plates of food which were really quite delicious. Our group however likes a strong drink... and at $17 a pop any New Yorker would expect nothing less! I ordered a Belvedere vodka cocktail with fresh berries. First sip I felt as though I was drinking water and ice with a splash of cranberry juice. I was utterly disappointed and then my friends also remarked that their drinks tasted like straight fruit juice. We voiced our dismay to the waitress and she introduced us to the manager. The manager let us know it was their policy to measure out their pours. I have drank cocktails all over Manhattan at high end establishments and I have never experienced measured pours anywhere other than maybe at TGI Fridays!!! When you are paying $17 a pop you don't want to drink watered down cranberry juice. The manager did make an effort to accommodate us and lighten up our experience. He made sure to supervise our first two rounds and make sure they were poured strong. By rounds 3,4, and 5 we had to send back every single drink order to get stronger drinks. It was very frustrating as we had to sometimes wait over 30 minutes just to get proper drinks. It was a total buzzkill. The manager sensed our frustrations and stepped in again sending us over a complementary appetizer...and then suggesting we move up to a higher rooftop area with better views. Without his supervision though in the second room, we went through the same process all night long of having to send back weak drinks. The waitress did take some of the drinks off of our bill which was very nice of them...but when you have a friend in town for a short visit it's all about giving them the ultimate NYC experience...and that experience was compromised by the fact that they measure out their pours giving you one lousy shot of vodka (if they even gave you that!) for $17. I am giving one star for the great food and for the manager who tried to keep an eye on us for the the first leg of our evening. I am not someone who normally posts ANY negative reviews... but this experience had to be shared.

This is a nice place to have a drink and take in the view of midtown for three different directions. The atmosphere here is amazing with a very diverse crowd. Drinks are but on the pricey side but definitely a fun spot.

Fun place to hang out for the evening. Food was actually surprisingly good. Our part was not overly crowded, but other parts of the terrace seemed too noisy (for me) and crowded. The view is ok, not spectacular. Would go again.

We loved visiting PHD Terrace. The staff were friendly and the whole location was cool with incredible views.

I went upto to PHD Terrace with a group of friends and had a fantastic night on the rooftop overlooking this fantastic city. The doorstaff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome and gave us access to the rooftop and the nightclub part of the club. Barstaff were fast and efficient and I really liked the design of the Terrace rooftop area - really was ideal for our group. To make things even better I ended up talking to a host for PHD Terrace and he hooked us up with our own area and bottle of vodka. I'd recommend PHD Terrace for any Summer parties and group gatherings etc. Also Feel free to contact me if you want the host's information - Very professional guy that appreciated our business

PHD was our choice for an afternoon pre dinner cocktail hour. The wait staff was very pleasant and the cocktails well prepared. The weather was amazing and the views of the city fantastic. The crowd when we were there was young professionals. For us, it was a great place to begin an evening of dinner and theater.
Rooftop
The Dream Hotels rooftop terrace and bar is PH-D. It has beautiful sweeping views of the city in a posh setting. The drinks are Instagram ready. It’s the place to see and be seen.
