A good basic Irish pub for a pint and burger. The burgers were quite good, cooked perfectly medium rare with grilled onions. P.J. Carney's is a loud boisterous bar with very attentive bartenders. A good place for a quick pint and a burger before a performance or when shopping in the area.

Nice place to drop by, eat at the bar or get a table. Reasonable. Irish pub feel. TVs. Bartenders are from Ireland which makes for interesting conversations and warmth

I don't know if its the fact that both me and my wife have Irish grandparents, but it seems we always end up in an Irish bar. I think we visited this places for drinks on almost every day of our trip to New York. The staff were really nice and friendly and they had a great selection of beers on draught. The prices aren't too bad although beer prices in New York are so much higher that other places we visited in the US. I would definitely recommend and if I'm ever near Central Park I will be in here for a pint again

Great place to stop for a drink or bite Reasonably priced Close to the Central Park, hotels and subway The Bartenders and staff are friendly and efficient especially Filomena and Geraldine the bartenders The decor maybe a bit dated but its clean Try the wings they are very good

Good food, good beverages, excellent service, waitresses are really friendly. If you are into sports you can watch any game or event while eating.

Great Irish Pub built in the 1920's located next to Central Park. Irish staff was friendly. Great food - hamburgers, turkey club and chicken fingers were all awesome. Great break from walking and sightseeing. I would return again. Prices were reasonable considering you are in NYC.

Great Irish food between Central Park and Times Square. Good brunch until 4M on Sundays. Large selection of beers on tap.

Stopped today for a drink and appetizers around 2 o'clock - we were given menus and sat for nearly 10 minutes until they came to take our order (it was not busy, our waitress was just more interested in checking her phone). More waiting until plates were removed and check brought... With so many other options, definitely not going back.

We stopped in here for a beer and watch some college football. Great little spot with awesome bartenders.

Highly recommend Carneys 7th Ave, great atmosphere, a decent pint and lovely food, staff are friendly and efficient

Having visited on a previous visit to New York and had a great time we decided to go again, big mistake, I have never been so insulted by the extremely rude guy behind the bar, firstly he totalled ignored my husband and I and then when he did look at us he shouted at my husband to sit down, which we were going too, we started talking to a lovely young man having a drink at the bar, and he said the guy could be quite curt and then went on to ask where we were from. The guy behind the bar exploded with this young man and told him to get out, as he slammed his bill on the bar, poor guy all he did was chat to us. It was appalling behaviour and a case of “welcome to New York”, needless to say we won’t be back and certainly will not recommend it.

Great bar food and very friendly service! Good place to watch sports. My favorite bar food were the buffalo wings. Soups were also good!

Great bar with staff that are friendly and welcoming. Location close to Central Park makes it a good place to stop for some beers. We stopped by for a couple of beers late in the evening. Some chatter with a friendly bartender and some good beers. Thats a good bar imo.

Loved the food hear sampled the steak sandwich cottage pie and the steak all very tasty and tender meat. Staff are lovely Kate especially welcoming. This became our temporary local in uptown Manhattan. If you gave a small appetite share a meal as portions are generous.

Great Irish- America Bar/Restaurant.The staff behind the bar are amazing and have been there for over 20 years. The atmosphere is 1970s Irish Bar and is a gem! A classic Cheeseburger with extra- crispy fries was awesome! Great for locals and tourists near Central Park or Carnegie Hall. Very casual and unhurried venue.

Friendly staff, nice beer and food. Came here especially for the Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas on tap! Awesome beers and no Brazilian arround (kidding, I'm one ov'em).

Used to be a great neighborhood gem...but.... Rude staff. Questionable food...seriously how do you mess up chicken tenders...by trying to make them faux-fancy. Also, if you aren't Irish be prepared to take a back seat and wait for you drinks as the bartenders chat up their friends and country men, leaving you to wonder if this is New York or some local pub across the atlantic, where this might be charming. Bathrooms are filthy. Lights too bright. Music is non-existent. TVs are mute and not high quality. Frankly, you can spend hours nursing your drink wondering why you are in this place when there are so many better spots just a few steps away. Or you could just opt for those better spots.

Been going here for great pub grub for 20 years. The bartenders and waitresses are attentive and the food, especially the burger and fries, are outstanding. Food and drink are a good value. Usually go for lunch or late afternoon before or after a visit to Central Park or 57th Street Venue. As expected, the atmosphere is typical pub in mid-town.

A great little bar with yummy chicken wings and good beers - perfect for a quick stop on the way home from a long walk round Central Park!

I wandered into here after enjoying a walk in Central Park. Small, cozy, dark, and a bit worn at the edges, it reminded me of pubs in Europe. A rather extensive beer list, actually more impressive than the food menu. They did have some dinner specials, but I chose fish & chips and a small garden salad and was not disappointed. The fish was lightly battered, the crust was crispy, and the fish moist and tasty. Fries were in abundance so I left about a third if them. Pretty good place for a lunch or inexpensive dinner.

We stopped by here for a quick drink after walking round the park, and ended up staying for the afternoon. The service was great, so welcoming, we really felt at home. The drinks were plentiful and the food great as well, we'll be back for sure.

great location, by carnegie hall and central park. well priced, kid friendly, good food, rnging from fish an dchips to very good burgers. even has some mexican items

Only visited for a drink. Sat around the huge bar in the middle; great for people watching. Nothing special or particular about the bar!

I just happened by the pub on s Sunday search for brunch options. The sign out front advertised a whiskey soup of some kind. That alone drew me in. They served $5 brunch drinks such as mimosas and Bloody Mary's. I also ordered French toast served with strawberries. The special cream on the top was wonderful too. I would have liked friendlier service, but still all in all was a great outing.

Nice midtown irish pub. Mix of locals and out of town visitors. Very good menu. Service was excellent. Kate did a great job. Sunday is trivia night and was a hit. Pub type food. Burgers, sandwhiches, empanadas. Stesk sandwhich was particularly excellent and large portions.

Regular Irish bar, a bit out of place (not to be in such location), you can get regular food, regular drinks, nothing special about it.

My partner and I recently went here whilst on a visit to New York. It’s great and well worth a visit. Very good macaroni cheese and the nachos are also very good. Good measures of whiskey too 😊. My partner said his Guinness was also great. Very welcoming staff and very reasonable prices. If we ever go to New York again we will definitely revisit. My only suggestion would be maybe a little Irish music playing occasionally and this would give true Irish pub feeling. 😊

A nice bar with happy hour I think between 5 and 7 so worth a visit. Nice cosy pub with a nice bar to sit at. We didn't eat here but saw the food coming out it looked really good and big portions. Worth a visit even if it's for a quick pit stop.

Having beverages and resting our legs for a bit. Cute little spot to get a classic pub drink. The menu looks to have classic pub faire: shepherds pie, fish and chips, burgers, chicken wings, etc. It's also a good spot to people watch while you drink.

I enjoy stopping into this small, friendly pub for a quick and delicious burger and beverage from time to time. The wait staff is extremely friendly and professional. It has become a "go to" place to meet friends on our way home from work during baseball's post season. Tonight, P.J. Carney's was a lively and respectful venue for World Series game one viewing. Although it is small and can get noisy on such nights, the crowd has always been friendly and respectful. I always feel comfortable here.

And I do mean "little". It has a dozen tables and maybe fifteen to twenty seats at the bar but the service is great, the food is delicious, and the smiles are friendly. You'll feel at home from the first time you go in there.

Such a great find we enjoyed having a few beers and even stayed for the happy hour the girls behind the bar are amazing the French fries are fab thank you for a great time

Loved the bar scene, Really good wings - which I wasn't expecting. Cozy atmosphere. I will definitely return. A great mix of women and men from all walks of life.

Besides the shamrocks the only thing that made this bar Irish was the staff but the staff were great and the food decent

Guys this is a no brainer! We had a fantastic burger with beer at only $14. The happy hour time is even better. We are just by Central Park and the location is spectacular! The price and the staff here is even better. Nice intimate pub ;-) we really loved it! The service so fast even in pick hrs. Thanks guys, you're awesome ;-)

We stumbled across this bar on the way back from Central Park on our first day in NYC, really glad we did because we visited a few times during our short stay. We were made to feel very welcome, we travelled as a family of 3, me, the wife and our young daughter. There was no problem with our daughter coming in whatever time of day we visited. The staff were all helpful, the beers selection good and the food also good and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our time in this bar, the interior could not be described as spacious but it's more than made up for by the atmosphere.

I love old bars that are worn a bit on the edges. PJ's fits that description. Half a block from Carnegie means that I can have a quick one before the show starts. The food is not inspiring but did you really come here to eat?? The bartenders know their stuff and that is what counts.

Pulled in for a quick bite before taking a carriage ride in central park, lucky the rides go into the night because lunch took a far while to arrive

Pros Good location by Central Park Friendly Irish staff Beer and food good Cons Somewhat crowded but that added to the occasion Not enough toilets

We were staying just along 7th Avenue while on holiday in New York and this became our home from home - the place we'd often retreat to at the end of the day. It's a cosy and unpretentious little bar with really friendly staff, good service and great, simple food. The beer's not cheap, mind, because this is midtown Manhattan, but you can get their decent IPA for $7 a pint, which isn't bad.

This place is a great casual place to hang out. Friendly bartenders and great conversation at the bar.

Went here a few times on our recent trip to NYC and it was super friendly and good value each time....highly recommended.

We were asked to visit here as the brother in law is a Carney and when he visited some years ago he wasn't 21 so couldn't go inside... ha! Fab little atmosphere and staff really chatty. First place we stopped having been traveling for 20 odd hours so we looked like the walking dead. Beautiful cocktails and awesome choice on the menu. Quick snack of nachos which were a little different to back home. Certainly would recommend and visit again!

Ordered a "dark and stormy". Surprised by the size of the glass (pint glass) and that we were given the bottle of alcoholic ginger beer. Great drink for $15.00 which seems to be the average in Manhattan. Had the reuben wraps and they were very good!

After walking through the cold central park decided to stop for lunch with my family. Our choice was not the PC first, had three other restaurants in the same corner. However, reading the menu of the day and look people in there that looked so well and eating what appeared to be so tasty, we decided to risk it. To my surprise I tasted one of the best hamburgers, the food came very well served, the hamburgue was giant, chips and salad. It looked like a homemade food, I was feeling very well there, comfortable and the service was also fantastic. My sister who was suffering from bronchitis because of the cold, received attentive service throughout the waitress, who promptly gave water to her and all the time bothered to remove the ice from her drink and check if everything was alright. We do not feel the time pass because we were very comfortable. Take one table next to the window, you can enjoy NY and still indulge in a great meal.

Bit annoyed we found this on the last day! Small bar, very friendly crowd/ atmosphere, middle of the theatre district, and service was fast/ beer good! Not tacky like a lot of the other Irish pubs in this area.

Very good pint of Stella. Friendly staff, who made me feel welcome, nice atmosphere. Love the jukebox, great selection of older music

Located across the street from Lincoln Center. Very busy for pre-opera lunch. We sat at the bar with the same regular menu. Reasonably priced. The service was excellent. No complaints with the food. Fish and chips and chile were both good. We don't know about the rest of the menu but based this one visit, we'll return if in the area. We wouldn't make a special trip.

Nice little pub up from Times Square and just before Central Park. Well priced beer and lager. I enjoyed the beef burger and chips from the menu, I'm a fussy eater so that is quite a compliment. We stopped and called in for a drink and something to eat after visiting Central Park and sometimes after an evening walk. Worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.

Wings were very good. Chicken wrap and fries were very good as well. Cosmo was very tasty and the beer on tap was good! Close to our hotel and the interior was very interesting and clean.

Great food and atmosphere. We had an early dinner before the Yankee’s game loved the buffalo chicken nacho’s. This was our second visit here went August 2017. Loved it then so we went back. Great line of beer on tap. Only complaint our dinner came literally like 2 minutes into our appetizer. The waitress was great and friendly.

Visited PJ Carneys on a recent Saturday afternoon with my wife. Great service and food was awesome. Prices are very reasonable for being in the heart of the city.Came in here over twenty years ago with my late Dad and I can still remember him saying how it was what a tavern was supposed to be. Well, the owners have renovated over the years but they have done a great job at keeping the traditional tavern feel and atmosphere. Don't miss this gem in the city.

We loved it here!!!!! I’m going to miss it when we go home! A perfect mix of laid back and lively! Maureen was a great bar tender and a fun regular crowd. Cheap drinks during happy hour. Fries were yummy as well. Ended up ordering a second plate. Definitely check them out if you are in town!

1920's irish pub near central park on 7th is a lot of fun. Great burgers, very nice brunches. rarely overcrowded, except happy hour. Brunches are great for families. LKot of menu selectrions

Stopped in here to get lunch, it was a little busy but we were able to get a table. Waitress was attentive and friendly. My dad ordered some kind of fish (which he loved) and I ordered chicken nuggets. I was expecting frozen nuggets but thats not what i got, these were hand breaded chicken breasts. So good! The waitress didn't rush us at all and we had a great experience. We tried to return a second time but they were so busy! We will return in the future.

We were strolling in the area and decided it was time for a bite and a drink. We noticed this establishment from across the street and decided to go and check it's menu. We entered and saw some open tables. I indicated to one of the wait staff if we could take one of the open tables and received a positive response. She promptly brought us menus, specials menu and greeted us. She was back shortly and we ordered beers and wings. When she returned with our wings we ordered a burger to share. She asked if we would like it cut in half to share and we said yes. That is nice customer service! We thoroughly enjoyed all of our food and beers. The atmosphere was pleasant and there was constant churn of people, but it never felt uncomfortable. I couldn't tell you my servers name, but she was great. A very enjoyable visit and we will likely be back when visiting the area.

We've suffered through the service many times over the past year and unfortunately it's always the same waitress. So Sunday (against my will) we went to get a bite to eat and a cold beer after walking around the park. Sweaty and starving, we walked in to a less than half full, less than air conditioned Carney's. We sat at a table (not the bar) and s l o w l y the waitress with the glasses came over and took our beer order. I purposely told my husband not to ask for a menu, just to see if she would offer us one or ask if we wanted to eat. She returned with the beers and walked away. We waited and waited. My beer tasted like soap and no menus were ever provided. We paid the bill, got up and left -- beers still in the glass. My husband finally agreed that this was the last visit.

We used this pub as a base during our visit. After the third night we were given a free round by the staff, which i thought was good. Food was also good, staff were excellent always attentive and friendly, bit noisy, but what do you expect if it is full with people.! On our last day we were again given a free round

Extremely rude, confrontational and aggressive barmaid who I think was the Manager. It’s really interesting how on one of the photos on the google review site, there is a written sign displayed in the bar that “Grouchy people will be charged $10”. I think this plays to my point it’s actually this one member of staff who likes to cause arguments, not the customers! I have never, ever, been verbally attacked EVER for only asking for my wine to be changed to the wine I had previously, to then the barmaid coming back over to the table with attitude saying ‘can we be adults’. That is such poor customer service, you do not do that, I only wanted my wine changing because it was the wrong one and asked politely. Her colleague made a mistake with the wine order, just admit it, don’t start being aggressive with the customers. Very poor service, you should be ashamed and embarrassed the way you carried on.

Enjoyable break from walking around. 2 for 1 Happy Hour is always nice, too. The bartenders were friendly and poured a nice, strong drink. Looked like a lot of locals that day. Enjoyable place to go.

Visited for a drink and snacks during a recent visit to NYC. Great location and reasonable priced for drinks and snacks.

The real deal when it comes to Irish Pubs and very centrally located in midtown. Worth a visit when in midtown. The Smithwicks was fresh and the Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner was equally delicious. Having visited Ireland over a dozen times visiting family, it was a memorable evening for me, especially having an authentic Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner on St Patricks Day 2023

We would eat here very often if not for the noise level. Best deal in town and food is delicious. Fish and chips, hamburgers terrific. Beers, ales, etc among the most varied in NY. I like the half and half.

It was my birthday and us brits needed a pub The waitress was so friendly and lovely the bathroom was clean and free to use and its right by central park Its lovely for a birthday Prosecco

Visited this pub back in February while visiting the city. Well, while visiting last month we knew we had to go back! Luckily our hotel was within walking distance. We went 2 nights in a row! Small but great vibe! Shane the bartender is the best!! Can’t wait to visit again!

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and a Guinness and we came across this delight of a pub. The rare sirloin steak sandwich was outstanding (albeit a bit salty) and the Guinness was smooth and delicious.

Called in here for a few scoops last night. Fiona from Mayo served us. All round, it was a great night but the Guinness is not up to scratch. I switched to the Blue Moon!

Our favourite pub duribg our stay at th Wellington. Super fast free Wi Fi. Friendly servixe, good beer! What more to say!?

Sad reflection on Irish Culture & a poor reflection on the owners of this establishment. Plastic glasses & cheaply dressed barmaids with loud so called Irish music. Not my idea of a place to visit on such an occasion or any other time for that matter. What a dump!!

We had lunch at this bar and thoroughly enjoyed all 4 meals. We enjoyed the food so much that we returned the next evening for dinner. The fish and chips are very good. Actually we tried several items on the menu and all were very good. Good portions of food were served. Prices were reasonable and service was good.

This hotel is located right of Central Park. We stayed at the JW Marriott and we walked over three times for drinks and food. It is an Irish-style bar, small but lots of fun. The prices for the area for drinks and food cannot be beat. If you are looking for a stuffy, expensive place for drinks by Central Park, this is not your place. If you are looking for a fun place with a great vibe, good bar food, great drinks and fun bartenders then stop in! Lisa Marie waited on us as a bartender and waitress and she was so much fun and made outstanding drinks and food suggestions. Ask for her.

You always hear that New York is the city that never sleeps, but at times I still find it hard to find a decent restaurant in the wee hours, well if you are near the park some night after midnight and still need something to eat you will be well served and pleased with PJ Carneys, and probably entertained, It's small, noisy and quite a bit of fun.

This bar was just steps from our hotel, so VERY convenient. We actually went 3 times! Philomena, Fiona & Amy are so friendly & such a joy to chat with. They are so welcoming! The first time we had food & then other 2 times we just sat at the bar for beers. Lots of fun!!! Keep it up ladies!! Hope to see you again SOON!!

Just had drinks w/family, and enjoyed the close and friendly atmosphere. Built in '27, i'm sure it hasn't changed much over the years. Bartender's are hard working and enjoying it as much as we were.

Spent a while here whilst waiting for our horse & carriage ride through Central Park. The bar is located on 7th Avenue just a few minutes walk from Central Park South. Didn't eat so unable to comment on the food but the drinks were good, toilets clean & staff friendly Try & sit in the window & watch the people of New York City

Dropped in for a drink on our way back from an expedition to Macy's - it was the first thing we saw when we exited the subway at 57th street. Friendly Irish welcome with a good vibe and a mix of local and tourist clientele. A couple of drinks turned into lunch and food came quickly and was hearty fare. Dark wood lined walls make it small and cosy. Great staff! Recommended if you're in the neighbourhood.

We were walking back from Central Park late one afternoon and literally stumbled upon this place. It looked busy with mostly the "after work " crowd and some tourists. We went in and were lucky enough to get a window table looking onto 7th Ave, as we love to people watch especially when on holiday. We got nachos to go with our wine and it was Delish! The waitress was very busy, but attentive and friendly and this place was hopping for the entire time we there. The pub type food that everyone else was eating looked pretty good too, and if we had been hungry would've been ordering a full meal. As it happened we had only planned on drinks but when we saw the nachos, we had to try them for ourselves!

My favourite bar in NYC. This bar has the most charming atmosphere in all of NewYork. Good old school bar. Not many of its kind left. Amazing windows for people watching whilst you enjoy beautiful French Martinis. Close proximity to Central Park. Bartenders are an amazing group of people! Food is basic pub grub but hits the spot every time. I look forward to returning hopefully in the near future.

We found this bar just up the road from our hotel and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and a nice selection of beers, and a long happy hour! The wings are delicious and the regulars were good guys! Pop in for a drink....

This is a fantastic small pub just south of Central Park, the prices are extremely reasonable and the welcome was superb. 4 of us 2 adults and 2 kids stopped in here for a drink and some food there was a wide menu but we just had snacks and I loved the cheese and bacon fries! Fully recommend this pub for a warm welcome and great food and very reasonable prices

You want honest, decent food next Carnegie Hall, Central Park and Columbus Circle, this is the place. Generous drinks, amazing shopping nearby, the >real< New York... this is the place. And, oh yes: that's me in painting, in the sunglasses.

I have a soft spot for Irish bars: they are virtually the only ones left that don't cheat you on drinks nowadays. This one is no exception: Johnny Walker Black neat ($11) and a Malbec ($10) both come in decent sizes and moderate prices. The warm wooden panels on the wall and the custom-painted framed cartoons are an additional incentive to visit.

My fiancee and I had spent the morning walking through Central Park and needed to find some where to sit down for a while as well as use the restroom. We usually tried to find a place that didn't charge an arm and a leg to have a beer at but, after walking all day I didn't care! We were going in even if it cost 10 bucks for a beer!!! We were pleasantly surprised....Coors light and PBR were only 4.00 all day every day so we stayed for several!!! After beer number 2 we decided to order something to eat and the food was quick and good. The atmosphere was small but good home town bar. Service was just ok, but than again all of the more reasonable places we visited the service wasn't what we are use to at home in Wisconsin. Wasn't the worst in New York but wasn't the best either. We would go back again if ever in the area!

We just called in for lunch and the lovely waitress called Geraldine served us up th most lovely blt sandwich you could ask for worth a visit

great Irish pub, great staff, always good service. It is a nice break from the fancy restaurants . Great menu, best cheeseburger and shepherd pie i have ever had.

We actually wanted to go to Angelo's pizza a couple blocks away, but they happened to be closed on Thanksgiving so we stumbled here for lunch. Got a table next to the window and it was fun people watching. Average food, ok service, somewhat loud atmosphere. Nothing great, nothing bad.

Had drinks with a friend and was very disappointed with level of service by blonde female server. Could not get her attention as she was always looking at her phone or messing with her hair, if not doing this then chatting to her colleagues. I also find chewing gum disgusting while talking to customers The management need to make changes and quickly

If you don't mind eating without hearing yourself, but enjoy fresh tasty food (most of it fried), good drinks and modern music, put this place on your list. I will definitely return!

Only just got to NYC and ordered drinks in happy hour, then ordered some food. Food was ok, burger and a Caesar salad, nothing special. When the bill came the drinks were charged at full price. We pointed this out to the waitress who started arguing with us, and was very rude. Don't bother going, lots better places in NYC.

Visited Carneys twice on a step away from the madness basis whilst in NYC for a week. The welcome was warm on both occasions. Great selection of beers and spirits. Didn't eat here but food looked great. Definitely recommend anyone popping in here for a breather. Met some great locals at the bar for a chat too.

We went here on New Years Eve, had some good beers and a good laugh, made to feel really welcome. Went back a few days later for great steak and chips (proper chips) Nice people, nice place.

6 days in New York vacation with my son, 5 optimal dinner. Hamburger, french onion soup, sirloin steak, with potatoes or salad, chicken wings. All perfectly cooked and served. A great, fresh red beer. Nice and kind staff. It did our holidays like we should be at home. Beh, the other side is the wonderful New York. A very fine voyage.

Not far from Central Park PJ Carneys is a good stop for a beer - friendly service and a nice atmosphere - worth a stop. The female members of our group both had soup which went down well on a chilly day.

Great service with deliciously fresh fish and chips. Super casual with a local dive bar feel. The prices were very reasonable.

Staying across the road at the Wellington Hotel and called in for a quick drink after visiting Central Park. Was Happy about when we arrived so stayed there for a few hours! Returned later the same evening for food & had 6 buffalo wings which were amazing, Nachos - again amazing & the BEST Mac n Cheese ever!!!!!! Highly recommended & well worth a visit.

Chicken wings were great, the Jamesons was even better! Great prices, friendly service. Small, but fun. Was a good choice on a late night stroll.

Origionally I was turned on to this bar via the "AMI Jukebox App", used to remotely pay and select songs via the Bar's digital jukebox. This bar is definitely not the biggest (nor the smallest, as I have come to learn) but the bartenders were very friendly, drinks were priced under the average NYC premium, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend their pulled pork and their wings.

Amazing wings... not what you expect to be one of the most popular foods in an Irish Pub, but they are

Went here before Jeff Dunham show at cargengie hall. It's small so I almost walked past it. Order a sangria pitcher, Buffalo chicken nachos and Shepard pie. The wife order a avocado LT. The prices are the best your going to get in this area . The waitress was responsive and knew her job. Very happy and would go again

We went to this Irish bar a few times while stay at the Salisbury Hotel in 27Th W Street. We enjoyed the service and also the opportunity to meet locals.

Great location for lunch prior to an event at Carnegie Hall. Significant portions - great for sharing. Small and quaint - perfect NYC rest stop! Friendly hard-working staff - they never seemed to stop, and they provided excellent service.

A nice bar with friendly staff and lots of screens if you're catching up on sport news. Good location also.

What a great find! This Pub offers a nice happy hour special, a variety of good eats for a reasonable price. I ordered the delicious smoked Turkey & bacon club sandwich on pumpernickel bread and a huge order of sweet potato fries to go with for $16. I had the Pumpkin beer.

A very nice pub to drop in at and have a few drinks. Fun as always to mix with relaxed and friendly locals combined with good service and nice prices

Good little pub to rest your feet and grab a drink after a day of sighting seeing and shopping. There seemed to be quite a few locals in having a drink after work and all where very nice to chat to at the bar.

Nice people watching out the window! Very tight high top table seating. Average Ceasar salad, and French Onion soup. Not overly priced for lunch in Manhattan.

Small but quaint. The food was delicious. However, two people can share a plate. Servings are large. A couple of blocks from Central Park for a nice walk afterwards.

We stayed just around the corner from this pub and what a wee gem it was. Staff friendly and courteous but not over the top. Can appear a bit dark and not very welcoming when you first enter but that was far from the truth. Two of the times we visited we are and the food was home cooked and delicious. If you're in the area of Central Park this pub is a must.

We stayed close by and this became our local for the last drink (or two!!!) of the night. Staff were great, good mix of friendly locals and holidaymakers. Drinks reasonable and the food was very good, the buffalo wings were better than the 'original' buffalo wings in Buffalo,( tried them on trip to Niagara.) Good little juke box not too intrusive. Really nice vibe.

Excellent few pints of the black stuff in good Irish bar. 1 min from central park. Find it behind roadworks.

One of our favourite pubs in New York. The girls behind the bar are super friendly and the pub has a great vibe

I was the only one who got food and it was good pub food. Prices were really good on beer. BUT music was horrible. U2 to Bob Marley. Nothing keltic (irish). Owner needs to make a play list because songs were being cut off by staff making their own play lists. Some songs were way too loud, some were quite. The staff needs to play to the type of the bar not to what they want to hear

We were looking for a place for lunch in this neighborhood and some lass minute trip advisor research brought us here. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30. Tables were full but we grabbed a seat at the bar for lunch. We both had the fish and chips. They were outstanding! Huge portion and really delicious and also at an amazing NYC price point! We also had the house wine special. It was the perfect lunch! Can’t wait to bring my husband here next time I’m in the city!

First went in this bar 8 years ago on my first trip to New York loved it then love it now great staff so friendly and lovely food great location sure I'll be back. Try it you will love it

PJ Carney's has been my go-to spot for years for pre-Carnegie Hall food and drinks, or for after work get-togethers. The food is the standard Irish fair but very nicely prepared and served. The service is always friendly, too, but the real draw for me is the large rectangular bar that occupies the center of the restaurant. You can usually find a seat and the music isn't too loud so it's possible to have a conversation (Not so in many NYC bars) Definitely worth a visit for a pint and and few appetizers. A nice relaxed vibe especially considering the busy intersection right outside.

Its very simple to get the best out of this bar; sit at the bar, order a beer and get talking to one of the bar ladies - theres no better Irish bar in NYC; Fiona, Geralidine and Phil will look after you big time. Well done ladies

Wow, what a great little surprise! walked past it on our way to Central Park. My sister had to get off her feet and had to eat so she darted in and the other seven of us followed. Wish I remembered the servers name. She did great and didn't write down our orders, yet got them all correct. Food was delicious!!!! all eight of us thoroughly enjoyed everything! my pulled pork was amazing and my husband said his burger was one of he best he's ever eaten! we came the Saturday during M.L.K. weekend and the city was really busy. A great oasis from the cold and the crowds!

Found this little gem while strolling back to our hotel from Central Park. My kids and I had the daily special and sandwiches. Everyone thought it was great. Went back the next day for dinner with the hubby. We visit NY every couple of months for business and this place is on our "places to eat in NY" list.

We happened upon this pub when a restaurant where we planned to eat was closed. It is somewhat noisy with a lively young, but not rowdy, crowd at the bar. We sat right by the big front window, so it felt like eating outside, but warm and dry on a rainy April evening. My husband had the lamb special with browned potatoes and asparagus; he ate every speck on the plate! I had the shepherd's pie which was very good; the portion was much more than I could eat. Very reasonable prices. We had a pleasant waitress straight from Ireland. A nice meal in a nice pub on a not so nice night.

Went there for dinner. The food we ate was very good. No issues. Two minor things to note: 1) The menu on the web site was not the same as the one once we got there; 2) The service was average.

We came here to rest our weary feet and have a snack and drink. The service was very good and staff were pleasant and helpful. We had small Caesar Salad and Buffalo wings both were excellent and the wings were so good we returned another day. Clean and friendly bar.

Great value and real Irish American pub, close to Central Park on 7th Avenue. Good food and great pint in an area that can easily see you overcharged. Highly recommend for good wholesome food and a variety of fraught beers.

Wherever you go there's an Irish bar and NYC is no exception. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, the drinks were on the expensive side, as expected! I would recommend a meal here .

So good we went everyday of our trip to enjoy a great bar. The staff, food, music, and of course beer - no - the best was the atmosphere and warmth, everybody enjoyed being there. Next time in N.Y. this will be our watering hole - thank you all..

Reasonably price menu items for quick lunch near the Time Warner-AOL Bldg area. Highly recommended, friendly staff.

Stopped here on the way to Times Square. Had a few ice cold beers and me and fiancé had steak sandwiches. They were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Great little stop!

We had a tremendous meal here on a cold, blustery NYC day. The food was delicious, the service was adequate and it seemed to be a well-run establishment. There was a large bar area which dominated the interior of the restaurant, televisions and tables and chairs for dining. Our waitress was Irish and she brought our food and drinks very quickly. The prices were appropriate and the location was great for our purposes. We would gladly return if in the area again.

Went here for a few beers and a bite to eat. Great chicken wings and the beers were really good....would definitely recommend.

We stumbled across this bar whilst on holiday and glad we did. We were given such a friendly welcome and even made friends with some of the locals. Landlady is from Galway, Ireland. Guinness and Angry Orchard on draft so👌for us. The bar had a really lovely atmosphere - so much so that we returned and had a brilliant evening.

What a great location on 57 and 7th, and walking distance to a lot of hotels. After walking all day and seeing the sights, you couldn't ask for more. My wife and I went to PJ's several times on our vacation due to the great food, cold beer and excellent service. A big thank you to Fiona, Geraldine and Kate for making our visit special. Do go during happy hour for the inexpensive beer and great wings! Try the fish sandwich with jalapeno coleslaw as well. We will be back.

Great Irish Pub! Noisey, alive, packed, good beer, good food, great people and staff. If you don't like the sound of people having fun and drinking, pick another spot. But we went both before and after the show we saw at Carnegie Hall (David Crosby & Friends and Snarky Puppy, 60's protest music), just steps from here.

Irish pubs are a dime a dozen in NYC...this one is worth skipping for a better experience...which can be had basically anywhere else.

Dropped in here on first night in NYC, Phil , our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was tasty and very good value. We will be back for more. Thanks Phil😘. Michelle and Karl

We had a couple of drinks here on thanksgiving and loved it. Two very friendly Irish girls behind the bar and a lovely Pinot Noir. Definitely recommend

My husband and I enjoyed a nice lunch here. It's a little crowded with the tables sitting so tight together. The Shrimp Carbonara was delicious. It was on the lunch specials. My husband enjoyed the seafood chowder and BLT. Everyone was very friendly!

Dropped in for some drinks. Decent selection of beers. Little atmosphere. Place looks and feels a bit tired

Good food for a great price in New York. You can't turn a corner in Manhattan without running into an Irish restaurant and we've eaten at a few but this one wins. We had beer battered onion rings for an appetizer, a pulled pork sandwich, a burger and a few glasses of wine and got out for under $50. The bar itself was full and most appeared to be locals. It's always good to eat where the locals go!

We were meeting a business colleague in that area for a casual drink and light fare. None of us wanted anything fancy,(We did consider the Plaza) so our hotel concierge recommended it as an Irish Pub that the locals went. That was fine with us, since we wanted a place to sit and chat. The place is small, and a bit noisy(which you get used to easily ...you can still have conversation) with bar in middle and about 4-6 tables on each side. We were lucky to get the last table available for 4 in the corner. They had a pleasant assortment of microbrews (and Extremely well priced beers for NY ) and an even more interesting specials (quite unexpected in a tavern/pub atmosphere). in addition to their pub fare menu The waitresses never rushed us and allowed us to sit and chat as long as we liked over meals. The soups were homemade and delicious. Nachos were piled high with great guacamole . The special salad of the day was a spinach, arugula combo which was delicious. Go figure in a pub !! Grilled Chicken sandwich with tomato tapenade, and arugla and bacon on a brioche bun was what one of the men ordered (fab) and Gaelic Burger and Fries stuffed with Garlic and onions for another. We spent nigh on 2 hours in the Pub without being rushed. Just a nice local find. We would go back. I gave it 4 stars not to compare it to a four star restaurant, but gave it a 4* over 3* rating for this "Irish Pub fare " being well above the average find with both staff and fare.

Grabbed a beer here with family. Nice place, even though it's quite cramped. Good selection of beer and nice waiter!

Looking for lunch spot with good menu variety. As the UN assembly is in this week, everything turns into a gong show with people and traffic. The menu had lots of choices for the four of us. The Pub was busy but we got prompt service and we all enjoyed our meals. Price was great compared to other restaurants in the area so great value, food, location and service give it 5 stars

Loved the atmosphere very friendly pub.great food especially the wings Nice friendly staff always chatty and giving advice recommendations about where to go and visit etc.l can't see any reasons at all why people wouldn't enjoy a visit there. THANK YOU

Great little find on the way from Central Park to Time Square.. great beer, chat & nice food. Defiantly worth a visit and made to feel very welcome in deed. Will be back.

Chicken wings is superb !!! I’m a local here and every time that I go… it’s just the chicken wings sauce on the side and an IPA. Can’t go wrong with that!

PJ Carney’s is one of many Irish-themed bar/restaurants in downtown New York, right on 7th avenue just north of Times Square. I went in for lunch. It is a compact place with a bar and some tables. The menu is typical bar food. It has some Irish components such as the bowl of chowder that I ordered ($6). It was quite good, and nice on a coolish winter day. But the chicken quesadillas ($15) were definitely not Irish. That being said, that were a good choice for lunch, filling but not too heavy. I added a Sam Adams draft beer ($8.50) to round things off. So, overall, a nice atmosphere, solid basic bar food, a New York Irish ambiance, and I got to listen to some locals opining on a range of subjects. PJ Carney’s is a convenient choice for informal eating in downtown New York.

The food was good and for NYC it didn't break the bank. Getting the food itself didn't take long, but don't expect the waitresses to go out of their way to check on you....we had to seek ours out to get the bill (never asked if we didn't refills, etc). Kind of loud but it is NYC so that is to be expected.....if you want quiet don't go there. All in all, would go back.

Without a doubt - one of the very best Irish Bars in Manhattan. Was one of my locals when I lived in NYC ten years ago and the bar is still run by Philomena and Geraldine. Huge choice of beers and spirits - and great bar food. The place is always buzzing and is full of both locals and visitors. Try it! - you won't be disappointed.

I discovered to my dismay that my favorite bar in the area is gone and so took a chance on PJ Carneys. Nothing fancy, but the burger was served rare as requested and the pint of Guinness was properly poured. Extra kudos for the waitress who was very busy yet quite attentive. Happy hour was a disappointment since I neither wanted bland beer nor had a hankering for chicken wings. But even at 'full price' I'd come back again.

This place is amazing, fantastic staff atmosphere great pub food. Visited a nearby Irish Bar called Coliseum on 2nd night which was quite the opposite so went to this place 4 out of 5 nights.

Loved this place, went there a few times, great staff, and they served a Magners too at $6.50. Not bad menu either but WiFi

Visited in a group of 6 friends. Bar was really busy, staff made a table up for us..... we stayed for about 3 hours. They never let the glasses go dry, really good steaks, burgers and steak salad. 80's/ 90's music. Thanks for a great night.

We went here on Saturday night to wind down after some issues with our accommodation and it was great, exactly what we needed. Great cocktails, great service and great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back

We visited several times, mostly for drinks. Service was always good, we did try the food, chicken wings were great, and the quesadilla was very tasty.

This was a great little bar to sit at and watch the people go by or get together with friends. Wonderful friendly staff, great drinks and food. We went there every night of our stay in NYC and will be back next time.

We were in this great little pub 5 years ago (2018) with friends and had a great time, we were again in New York on September 18th 2023 and re visited, this is the only place I know who can make the greatest Key Lime Martini cocktail I know! My husband and I travel a lot but no one can match how the bar makes this cocktail, Its not on their menu I just asked for it, thank you so much PJ Carney's you made my day.

We had a good lunch on St Patty's day. We were lucky to get a table, extremely busy (as expected). Shepherds Pie was good and the Leak soup was excellent. Beer was a bit pricey with lots of choices on tap

Just up the road from our hotel this bar became our local. We usually found a seat in the window which was great for people watching. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the pulled pork nachos were to die for. The prices were pretty reasonable for New York.

Called in to watch USA v England. Arrived about 20 minutes before KO expecting to find the place mobbed out. The pub was still filling up & never got packed & the atmosphere a little mute (compared to home). Good friendly (& polite) crowd - but did empty very quickly after the match was over. That said, the ladies behind the bar were excellent. As you will notice from other reviews the chicken wings & burgers were very good.

We have often followed a concert at Carnegie Hall by dropping into this Irish bar for a drink and a snack. But last night we ordered Jack Daniels on the rocks and got a drink so tiny it should have been embarrassing to serve it. Even the ice cubes were tiny--and the bartender could have made the drink look better by filling the glass with ice. We asked the server why the drink was so small, and he replied, "Our rent was raised, so we have to make back the money." The fried calimari was tough and chewy as well. Too bad, another place crossed off our go-to list.

A full on sports bar, with fanatic , we arrived late I was worried we would be to late to eat they assured they serve food until3 am brilliant . We had A few drinks and orders a mixture of food which amazing . One mistake we ordered garlic bread they must have thought we said for everybody In the bar I’ve never seen so much bread , but we had only ordered 2 portions . Well worth dropping I for beer and food great value.

Visited for dinner during our trip to nyc. Food was terrible, ordered fish & chips which was inedible. Pointed out to server when she eventually returned & she decided to argue over our complaint. Very rude member of staff & we would never visit there again

Its happy hour is cheap for New York, but the customer service is terrible. The waitresses seem to enjoy ignoring you and get your request wrong, almost on purpose.

We russhed into this place from the Met Opera across the road and were delighted by the service and the superb (rare) burgers. Quite possibly the best ever!

The arrogance and condescending attitude of the bartenders will kill any buzz you might otherwise have gotten from the somewhat overpriced drinks...

New York in the rain on a Sunday evening and we happened upon this bar. On 57th at 7th it's definitely worth seeking out. A great informal vibe, friendly staff and good comfort food. Nice to be served hot food here as we've had so many dishes that soon go cold with the relentless aircon in NYC! Good music adds to the atmosphere where everyone seems at ease. The bar is about to close for renovation for a little while. Hope it retains it's easy going charm when it reopens. Recommended.
NYC Christmas
Wife and kids had burgers and fries. I had the fish and chips. All 3 of them loved the burgers. The fish was heavily battered and the fries just ok. I was actually able to pull the fish out of the batter an just eat it that way. Much better. Service was ok. Not what I would consider a great Irish Pub in a city with so many options.
