Ate here for breakfast on a recent NYC trip. Thought the place was quaint and sat at the bar. Service was fast and friendly, food hot and plentiful. They gave me enough potatoes to feed several people! Nice for a quick, hot meal. Would go back.

We really liked the atmosphere of this diner which serves an extensive breakfast menu. The staff are all very attentive and the breakfast service was speedy given the fact that on each occassion we visited, the place was full. They have lovely little booths available which make it perfect for a private conversation. The quantity of food on each plate was huge and it was very good value for money. We left the place having had breakfast and not needing to eat again until dinner.

Horrible Horrible Horrible The Caesar salad was awful and the chicken stank burnt. it took over 15 minutes. the waiter is ridiculously rude - My husband's order came wrong because he (the waiter) didn't have the patience to explain and understand. I never hope to step into such an ugly place again.

On est 57th, nice old fashioned dinner. wide selection of very good food and sumptuous deserts. The spanokopitika and burgers were both very good

This diner’s advantage is the hours open snd location. I have eaten here and find it a good meeting place on Lexington and 57 th street. The food is okay and the service is pretty good. Tge city a number if better fibers food wise but this us just cinvebient gur ne

Another place visited that was a trip down memory lane for my wife and the first time for me. Very busy, and yet seemed so very homely. We visited twice, both times for breakfast the first being served by an older gentleman, welcoming, friendly and good customer service, the second time it was a Sunday and the service by other servers was rather more perfunctory. Excellent choice of items, the Nova Scotia Lox with garnish was amazing. The portion size enormous, the first time I have been beaten by 'salad'.

Stopped in here for breakfast on Labor Day and again a few day later. Amazing breakfast, huge portions and good value. My husband had sausage and pancakes, while I had a Belgian waffle with bacon, we both had coffees. You get a glass of ice water given to you as soon as you sit down. A nice touch considering it was a heatwave during our visit. The staff are friendly and efficient. Our first breakfast cost $31. On the second visit my husband had the same again, I had scrambled eggs with bacon which also comes with potatoes. The eggs were a cross between scrambled and an omelette to be fair, but they were tasty. We both had coffee again. This time it was $26. Both visits were good and kept us full well into the afternoon. Would recommend.

A good choice for breakfast but not worth eating at for lunch or dinner. Frequented by a lot for the reasonable prices but most food I have tried is terribly greasy.

This is a great place for an all American breakfast. We had French toast and the pancakes. Exactly what we were looking for. Good coffee too.

There is nothing exceptional about this restaurant but overall you get what you paid for and the service is fast. I chose a turkey wrap and had the sauce separately for some reason. The food was ok. I didn't try the handful of crips thrown on the side. The location is good and it is easy to find.

Visit it at New Year night. This experience practically ruined my day! Food there was practically uneatable and the personnel seems perfectly aware about it and don't care. They are definitely preying on the tourists who will never come again anyway. Take someone there whom you hate, and it'll be very effective way to spoil his evening. Disgusting!

Very lovely authentic American diner! Reasonable price, welcoming staff and an amazing Gluten Free Waffle.. definitely recommend!

It's fine. Nothing to write home about. Service was efficient but not very friendly. Food was just ok. Wouldn't rush back to be honest.

Nice restaurant. Tables separated by a small thin partition that allows more than tranquility and space.American and "French" cuisine. Professional and friendly server. We recommend salads. we've been there five times. prices more than reasonable for New York. Quality quantity and cleanliness.

We were greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff who seated us upstairs. The restaurant was busy with lunch trade and seemed to be occupied mainly by locals which tells you a lot. The food was of a good standard and we were all happy with our meals. Service was quick and it was also reasonably priced.

I had a Basil, Spinach, Tomato, Mozzarella Panini that was super incredible! Service was expedient and pleasant.

We were looking for a small diner where you can have a decent breakfast and found this. It's small, but you get plenty of food, the price-performance ratio is great, you get your breakfast quickly, the coffee is refillable and the staff is very nice :).

The neighborhood tends toward pricey spots so this is good to keep in mind if you are looking for a quick meal. Our burgers were excellent and our server was above average, We were happy to see that this spot has an "A" rating from NYC and it is attractive for the genre.

Found the Palace while searching for breakfast in midtown on a weekday. We were seated immediately at a clean, cozy table. Service was pleasant and attentive. The menu was broad, the portions more than ample, and the prices very reasonable. Opted for simple fare, and our bagels, muffins and sides were hot and properly cooked. Would gladly return.

Varied menu, pricey enough, friendly team, busy which says a lot. Pancakes are big and heavy - syrup only (no Nutella for kids but apparently that’s not a NYC thing).

Visiting from Toronto and was excited to review this restaurant and menu which had plenty of gluten free options. They did not disappoint. Food was outstanding. We had GF waffles, GF french toast, GF pasta, GF grilled cheese and ham sandwich along with a GF cheesburger (Family of 4 ) All of it was amazing. Was very surprised as it exceeded my expectations. Rarely do you see a GF Menu that is this extensive. Service was also very good. Love the diner atmosphere. Prices were also reasonable in comparison to other options. Hope to come back here again in the future. Wish we had this place in Toronto!

You will be able to find something on the menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I stayed in the hotel next door and popped down for a quick dinner. The pasta with meat sauce was very good and way too much food. The prices are right and you can have a very good meal for about $20. While I didn't have dessert, they did look good.

A truly typical place Great food The real American breakfast The staff always very kind Every day we tried a new dish and from salty to sweet it's all really good The cheesecake is great

Palace omelette is great. Challah French toast is good too. Service was very friendly and prompt. Traditional style diner worth going to.

What can I say ! Was always felt welcome, food fabulous, had the gluten free pancakes excellent ! Can’t wait for my next visit x

The granddaughter with celiac was in love with the gluten free menu. It gave her lots of choices. She got the gluten free waffle with strawberries. She also ordered two desserts to go because I never get to have desserts. I got scrambled eggs and traded with the granddaughter who got egg salad sandwich. On our second visit the granddaughter with celiac disease got waffles with strawberries again. My other granddaughter and grandson got pancakes. I got the chicken salad plate. Obviously we liked it enough to return there twice on our 4 day stay in NYC.

Remember when NYC had tons and tons of great coffee shops? Time to take a wonderful time travel trip to The Palace on East 57th Street. Great wait staff who are super accommodating. HUGE portions (splitting is okay with them, no extra charge). Very reasonable prices. Downstairs is a typical coffee shop. Upstairs is quiet and has great views of 57th Street. This is such a treasure in midtown New York where it's either chain food or super pricey. Why not eat here and cross Lexington Avenue for a coffee at Juan Valdez Coffee House? Steps from Bloomingdale's,so park your Big Brown Bag here after a morning of shopping.

A definite touch of class on what might be described as a diner. The place is well looked after, and after placing my order I received same bruschetta while my order was prepared. I ordered the English Burger, which was huge and way too much food for me, but was cooked exactly as requested, and was very tasty.

We came across the Palace on our first day in New York and returned each day of our 5 day stay for breakfast because of the friendly, quick service, the food, the menu choice and the general ambience. The Palace is an authentic local diner, not a chain restaurant and judging by the amount of local New Yorkers who were coming and going, it's a popular spot for them too. Do yourself a favour and seek it out.

Food ok, service was weak. I went there twice in 2 days, once for breakfast and once for lunch - on both occasions only your waiter will serve you - the others will ignore you or if you ask them something directly, they go and get your waiter. At breakfast, there were less than 6 people eating, and as many waiters. I needed my tab in a hurry and there was a waiter (not mine) standing right behind me leaning against a wall playing with his phone - I asked for the tab and without moving said "its coming" and carried on with his phone - unless the waiters are physic he simply said that to fob me off and couldn't be bothered to do anything about it. Eventually I got up to walk out at which point my waiter appeared. Food ok, but such service would preclude me from returning.

Popped by here yesterday for some brunch after the doorman at our hotel nearby (Four Seasons) recommended it to us. What a great find in a city full of so many overpriced eateries. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and food service was really fast. Nothing was too much trouble. Wish we had found it on the first day of our NYC rather than the last, but will definitely go back on our next visit.

This was a great find. Had dinner and breakfast here and both times were great. Attentive service, great coffee and constant refills! Fab pancakes too. A true American experience I felt.

After an appointment in NYC, was looking for a place to eat that wasn't pricey. The service was good and the food (chicken souvlaki and a burger) was plentiful and tasty. Would definitely recommend.

We had breakfast here and throught the food was excellent (with very large portions). It was expensive for breakfast, but should last you 'til dinner.

Good place for breakfast!! Service was fast, staff is following pandemic protocols. Portion was fantastic. Food was tasty. Decent ambience.

New York used to be filled with diners, places where you could have a well-priced breakfast, lunch or dinner with ample servings. Few remain. This one has been around for a long time in a neighborhood that is changing fast. It's huge menu gives you plenty of choices. Servings are a good size and tasty. This is not fine dining but the place to go for a really good breakfast, a fun lunch, or a very casual dinner. Located near many tourist attractions, it is great place to get a good meal without spending a lot of money in a high-priced restaurant part of NYC. I especially recommend it for breakfast

We stay in the Hotel Renaissance 57 right by this little typical american restaurant — we went there every morning for breakfast - be there before 9am if you dont want to wait for a table .. very popular place indeed specially among the locals living in the neighborhood !! Always full !! Great staff ! The menu has a plenty of choices .... excellent atmosphere and nice to be in a typical local place, the kind of places you will see in american films !!!

Overpriced rude cashier demanding over 20% tip terrible place food mediocre but staff needs training ripping off customers

Great to find a place that does gluten free pancakes! Old fashioned restaurant with good service. Lots of choice. Large portions, we could have shared the pancakes and ordered extra fruit.

Truly a gem! Homestyle comfort food for a good price. I was in NYC for 5 days with friends and the Palace became our breakfast place. The food, service and staff are absolutely wonderful! We did dinner there one night, portions are big, bring your appetite. I will go back when ever in NYC, highly recommend!

Found this restaurant while walking around New York checked the menu and decided to give it a try we received excellent service at value for money prices great if on a budget food was good and freshly cooked would certainly visit again

I ate at this restaurant a few years ago, but I had forgotten the location. I lucked out this trip and found it. Great breakfasts! The food is great, the service is also good. I watched the breakfasts and lunches that other customers were eating and they all looked very good. I will be back.

If you have a "Greek diner" that you like to eat at this would be the same only difference is its in NYC. The price was very good, the service was excellent and the food was great. The portion was more then I would have expected. I would return there in a second. I arrived on a Friday evening about 8PM was not crowded .

Had a late lunch here around 4.30pm Was served by Juan(Mr).. his services are great. He explained to us some of the dishes and even offered to change a soup if we dont like it. Excellent services. Took a pic with him. Food are great and good quantity.

Dishes are big (to share) and there are a variety of food to choose. However, waiter's attention is horrible. They did not make any effort in the service, and the waiter tried to cheat us telling that the tip was mandatory minimum 20%. Because we are foreigners, they think that we don't know how it works. Not recommended

The early dinner options on the Madison Ave. block between 56th and 57th are either fast food takeout -- with maybe a few tables each, or slow artisanal food, where a family with two children labored over sandwich choices for so long, with the single person offering pre-made sandwiches behind a counter, that I was ready to give up and go home on rush-hour trains. Then I spied the Palace Restaurant, just west of Madison on 57th, and I was hopeful: the menu was upscale diner, the booths were comfortable, and the prices reasonable. After enjoying some pickles that greet every guest, I ordered a glass of merlot, and a veggie burger deluxe with cheddar cheese. The wine and food came out fast, piping hot, and delicious. I'll remember this place next time I'm in midtown looking for a comfortable, reasonable and delicious meal.

This place has been in business for 41 years and follows a great business model.....simple food, well prepared at decent prices in a "break the bank" part. of NYC, The restaurant is clean, with a decent although dated decor. Try it for lunch and brunch and especially the omelettes. Service was good for a diner type restaurant.

Family visited this place at a lunch time on a Sunday. Plenty of people about. Nice to go upstairs and have a good meal from a wide selection of items including a gluten free menu in relative calm. Worth an adventure. PS the place was busy but was a calming experience

Great service and very nice egg white omelet, enough hash browns to feed a crowd, great coffee, and airy waffles.

We dropped in whilst walking, were seated upstairs straight away and service was impeccable. We had a simple, but delicious lunch which was really reasonably priced. This is a great place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Meeting up with a friend in central New York should mean it’s easy to find somewhere good to eat and as The Palace was her regular go-to place for breakfast when she’s in NY, we thought this was a pretty safe bet for lunch. How wrong we were! Starter (to share) - Greek spinach pie (a favourite wherever we are in the world). It was a generous portion, but then it was over $11 and was acceptable, if a little salty. Came with grilled vegetables which were pretty tasteless. Main courses - here we go! Feta cheese burger - greasy, with feta cheese and more of the tasteless grilled vegetables on top. Soggy bun and fries. I was hungry, I ate it. Linguine pasta with chicken & mushrooms - tasteless chicken, rubbery mushrooms and an overall burnt flavour. Pretty disappointing! Pork Souvlaki - the pork was obviously re-heated as one side of each piece was burnt making the meat dry and ...... burnt! The fries were dry and the pita bread was stale and chewy. This was so inedible that we insisted they take it off the bill which they did. For desert we wanted to try a Cannoli as we’d never had one before. Should the cheese cream filling be warm? Shouldn’t the shell be crispy? Not impressed (I’m sure The Cake Boss does them better!) $75.62 for three of us (with one meal taken off the bill!) including coffee, tea & hot chocolate. Maybe this place is ok for breakfast but anything over & above eggs, bacon and pancakes is obviously out of their capabilities. Probably best to avoid as there are much better places around.

The hotel we were staying in suggested this place to us for breakfast. We enjoyed a mimosa and a bloody mary with our breakfasts. The breakfast plates are huge! We did not enjoy the hotel restaurant so we ate here most mornings and one time for lunch. The food was always good. The staff was a bit hurried however we never went without. I enjoyed "create your own omelette" on two occasions and had the Athena chicken for lunch one day. The waffles were good too and plenty to share. The restaurant was very clean.

Only found this place on our last day but was a great spot. Great choice on offer and food was super... so much so that we went back to eat here before we left the city

A very good, small diner - portions were large, service was fast and prices were reasonable. They do take out as well as sit-down and are usually nicely busy. Very friendly people, too.

Small restaurant all along. We went there for lunch. We eat very well The staff is friendly. I recommend

Diners are a dime a dozen in NYC. This is a well run place with good food. I love a good waffle and bacon - I was not disappointed. Belgian waffle was fresh and hot and the bacon was crispy and tasty. Coffee was hot. I was not rushed despite the place being busy! Well done.

When staying in fitzpatricks around the corner , we have always gone to the Palace for breakfast. Super breakfast, good coffee, great atmosphere and service. Guaranteed not to leave hungry !

Best American breakfast/ brunch in NYC. Amazing location on 57th street and Lexington this family diner is my favorite breakfast place in the world. Top quality pancakes and French toast to die for but make sure to ask for 100% maple for extra money. The staff is most amazing and friendly and if you want to have an amusing conversation with a new Yorker ask for Peter I think he was born in the restaurant, I love this guy as he is part of the wonderful dinning experience. In short when in NYC make sure to have breakfast there you will not regret it and say hi to Peter for me please

Cozy place where we had breakfast throughout our time in New York. Nice waiters and generous portions, especially good. I will never forget their ny cheesecake!

Highly recommended breakfast! We ate here several times in this very American restaurant. Friendly service and good location to central park. Coffee is permanently poured and everything very fresh and tasty prepared. friendly service.

Wow what an amazing choice for breakfast. Food was fabulous and staff very friendly. A special thanks toBilly who looked after us so well.

We had a dinner there. It was nice that we were served the small appetizers before the main dish. The main dish (chicken/fish and fries) was not tasty, but it was very simple(mb someone likes that). The portions was huge, we barely finished the half. The price was not low as I expected. ~20$ for a plate + tips.

My wife and I went for a late weekday morning breakfast and loved it. Nice waiter and good meal. No wait, no rush. Good spot for a good meal.

Breakfast is my favorite meal. I can eat breakfast morning noon and night. As someone on a gluten-free diet, breakfast also tends to be a fairly easy meal to find while traveling although it generally means eating more eggs than I usually do in one week. So, to find breakfast fare other than eggs over easy or an omelette is always a delight. The Palace not only had my favorite (gluten-free French toast) but my wheat-allergic husband and I had a choice of the aforementioned French toast, pancakes, waffles and the usual eggs any style or omelette. As we had just eaten the most fabulous GF pancakes the day before (see my review on Friedman's), so we opted to split an order of the French toast and an order of the waffles. Both came with a choice of breakfast meat or fruit and we both selected bacon. The French toast was very good but the waffle was incredible! More like a Belgian waffle, it was light and crispy on the outside yet moist with a little chew inside. The bacon was crisp as requested. The tea was Lipton's, not my favorite but if was decaf. The cost of both breakfasts was quite reasonable (and about half of what we'd spent the day before). The Palace is not fancy or trendy but you'll get decent service, a good meal with ample but not outrageously huge servings and a pretty typical -- yet clean -- New York coffee shop (the diner kind of coffee shop, not the Starbucks kind) experience all at a very reasonable price. The menu included a nice variety of gluten-free offerings for lunch and dinner as well. We absolutely plan on returning on our next trip -- and maybe we'll skip the French toast and stick with the waffles!

We were looking for a sit-down breakfast place and just happened to see Palace Restaurant from Lexington Ave. Walked over, walked in, and were glad we did. Nice interior and excellent food and service.

Good food at reasonable prices. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Portions were big and food tasted good. They're were a lot of choice too which was a bonus. Definitely recommend.

Excellent diner with separate GF menu. Offers wide selection of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For those with a sweet tooth, there are several GF dessert items to choose. Staff was very knowledgable about GF. Great service at diner prices. I had GF bread, sausage, homefries and eggs. A tasty treat! Other GF breakfast options included French toast, pancakes and English muffin. A must to consider if your diet restrictions include GF!

Being Seinfeld fans we love eating in the old school New York diners and this looked like it fit the bill. Counter seating and booths, breakfast all day. Not cheap and you must like salt I mean really really like salt.

I just had dinner there, as I was staying at Hotel 57 next door. Large menu, I think it leans toward Greek food. I had an excellent gin and tonic. I ordered chicken piccata. It came with rice, I would have preferred pasta, and a huge salad. The main serving was enough for 2-3 people. The piccata was very tasty, with just enough lemon and butter. I will return. I guess the prices, which seemed high to me, were average for mid-town Manhattan.

Great little restaurant tucked away around the back of the hotel we were staying in. Huge portions - my chicken wrap and chips would easily have fed the two of us. The waiters were attentive and service was quick. You get great food and has the feel of an authentic diner si makes a change to the same old chain restaurants. We enjoyed it so much we ate breakfast here every day. Highly recommended

Had breakfast- bacon, pancakes and sunny side up eggs. Bacon was undercooked and needed to be sent back to get it crispy. Other than that it was a diner - nothing great. Nothing terrible.

A tricky place to review. Basically it’s an old fashioned American diner serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing fancy or young and trendy about it. Basic tables and layout. Service is quick and efficient, though. The menu is quite extensive but the drinks list is small. We had the house white where we were given a choice. The Pinot Grigio we had was ok with glasses filled to the brim. We gave our order and were asked if we wanted soup or salad with the meal as it was included. We went with the salad and chose our respective dressings. It arrived quite quickly. Not before we had been asked if we wanted bread, though. We said yes and very soon a small bruschetta arrived for each of us. Very tasty. Then the bread arrived! Four rolls, butter packs, savoury biscuits etc.. We weren't charged for the bruschetta or bread. My wife's spanakopita was very tasty although she said it had been microwaved rather than heated in an oven. It came with nicely grilled vegetables. My moussaka also came with grilled vegetables but was somehow just off taste-wise. Maybe missing seasoning. A bit of ketchup helped. Service was very good. Food good. Prices ok. Good extras which helped it get a four star review.

Surrounded by high end hotels and restaurants, Palace is a godsend for anyone who wants to spen less than $20 on a meal. I had a light breakfast here, consisting of corned beef hash (canned, I think), and a bran muffin. The muftin was great. Coffee is a little weak, but acceptable by American standards.

Popped in for breakfast on our last day in NYC before heading to Bloomingdales for some shopping. Recommended to us by the doorman at the Four Seasons, and we are so glad we went. Service was spot on, coffee on tap and delicious omelettes. All served in a distinctly timeless environment, felt very much a place the locals go, and as such great value. Thank you! We will be recommending you to friends and family.

Recently enjoyed breakfast here. Eggs were good and turkey bacon was excellent. Potatoes were ok, they had peppers in them which seems to be an NYC thing. Service was accommodating. Prices for breakfast were reasonable.

Ate here with husband and daughter. Couldn't believe amount of food at prices which rivaled our hometown bob Evans! Husband got two egg breakfast with pastrami and was expecting about 3 slices of pastrami and it came with 10+! I got challah French toast which was well done (not slimy like at some restaurants). Picky daughter got turkey club and no complaints! She ordered lemonade and came with frothed head on it. Interesting and tasted good! Saved about a $100 when we decided to have breakfast here instead of our hotel (Waldorf) which was $41 a head!

The restaurant is simple and friendly. I have been there for breakfast and the waffle was just perfect, with a lot of fresh strawberries. When for dinner I had a huge squash and ginger soup, delicious and light, no cream only vegetable, just want I wanted, and they were about to close, despite that, they have been very kind to let me have dinner in zero waiting time. I will definitely visit again when back in New York.

The Palace restaurant is a traditional American diner, with a wide menu. I went for dinner alone on a business trip to New York when I wanted something simple, but more than just fast food/street food. The service was friendly, the portions were very large, the quality was OK but not great. If Tripadvisor had a rating of "good" Palace would probably deserve it, but faced with a choice of "average" or "very good" the food on my visit just wasn't good enough for four stars. Chicken noodle soup had obviously been kept hot a long while with the noodles in, so they had turned to mush. My entree was OK but notable for the portion size rather than the quality. I was there late evening, the restaurant was closing as I left but lots of pastries were still out - presumably left for breakfast the next day, when they would no longer be very fresh.

In New York and looking for great gluten free options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Search no more. Many options with good prices. Great service! Great upstairs seating with views of the street. Average interior

Wandering in search of breakfast near central park, we kept finding places either closed or with long lines. Finally asked a hotel doorman for a tip and he sent us here (rather than inside to his hotel's very expensive breakfast). Said this is where he goes for breakfast and it was reasonably priced. He was right! Menu was EXTENSIVE and prices were just a tad higher than what I'd expect to pay where I live in the suburbs of Virginia. No crazy ingredients here - just all american breakfast choices (eggs, pancakes, bagels etc) and lunch choices. Wish we had discovered this place the first day we landed in NYC rather than the last. Went from $125 for breakfast for three at the other places we dined, down to $40 at the Palace. If you're looking for standard american breakfast fare, go to the Palace. You will not be disappointed!

It's not a large place, and not a place for large groups. However, the food is good, and the prices not bad. A nice break from fast food.

Delicious gluten free food! Came here for gf waffles, had with bacon and maple syrup and it was delicious. We have already decided we will probably eat breakfast here for the rest of our trip as they offer gf French toast, pancakes etc 🤤

This place is a diner and we sought our diners on our recent trip as we were a group of six and were generally good value for money. Went to this place once and enjoyed the food so went back the next morning. We ate, all OK, paid the bill and prepared to leave. On departure, the waiter, who did nothing in doing his job to generate anything outstanding in the way of higher tip, stood at the door waiting for me waving the bill. "you not pay enough, you not pay enough" he growled. "You're tip is supposed to be at least twice tax" he advised in an angry tone, to which I asked if the rate of tip is legislated and mandated. I advised him that we gave what we thought his service and the meal was worth. When he could see that he wasn't going to get another more he walked off. Suffice to say that his conduct lead us not to darken this establishment's doorstep again on our trip.

We were also prompted to visit here by our hotel concierge. What a great find! Great food, huge variety of food and if you have to eat gluten free as I do, you will be so thankful for your visit here. One of the most extensive gluten free menus I have encountered, with a great selection for any time of day. Plus, they really understand what it means to have to eat gluten free. Great wait staff and chefs. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend.

This diner is located right next to the Renaissance hotel. It was always busy so we decided to try. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast and my family also ordered pancakes. Food was ok, and service was fast and friendly.

Visited the Palace Restaurant on our second morning in NYC and went back every day for the week we were there. Polite helpful staff amazing food and all at a very reasonable price. Will be going back on our next visit to NYC

If you are solo and in a bit of a hurry, sit at the bar. The service will be quick, attentive and the food is plentiful and delicious. I had 2 scrambled eggs, bacon (5 slices was a pleasant surprise), hash browns and a cup of tea. Not a challenging order, but it was perfect and seemed to only take 5 minutes. Yeah, the bacon and hash browns were probably pre-cooked - so what. That is actually preferred when I don't have a lot of time.

This little gem was next door to the hotel we stayed at. We stopped for dinner and everything was very good! The staff was friendly, portions were large! Fast, friendly, and reasonable.

Have eaten at the Palace many times on my frequent trips to New York. The last visit, for breakfast, included ordering their multigrain pancakes. First platter arrived and the pancakes were raw batter on the inside...inedible. They went back to the kitchen and the second batch was less thoroughly cooked than the first. Second complaint...this is how the batter cooks. No offer to make something else or remove the food from the bill. Will no longer eat at this establishment, as I will no longer pay for a plate of undercooked, inedible pancakes.

This was a great place for breakfast. Food was good and reasonable for NY prices.Great service. We ate breakfast there twice. They also serve lunch and dinner but we were in other areas of Manhattan for that.

Nice and simple diner. The portions are huge, good quality products, very reasonable prices. We enjoyed the Christmas Day brunch and Sunday brunch here in May 2022. Will most probably be back once visiting NYC again. Highly recommend for pleasant comfy casual american diner style meals :)

Filthy and dingy. Counters are not wiped down after patrons leave, I did not observe any masks etc. The food was below average and the service was slow. Would not recommend it.

There is an extensive menu on a par with the best diners in the city. Good to very good cleanliness although the mens room is dated and needs refurbishing. The food is standard diner fare, well prepared and pretty much in tune with American versions of the ethnic dishes. Friendly service -- and one of the few diners in Midtown.

Quaint little dinner with great prices. Went there for breakfast after staying at an adjacent hotel. Food came out quick and plentiful They do serve lunch and dinner. Servers are extremely nice as well.

Place on 57 th street near Lex has pretty good food and service but appears to be a bit rundown. Have Not been here fir a bit but it needs some refurbishing. Breakfasts and lunch are good deals here and probably dinner but have not been there. They do good corned beef hash well done. And prices are okay fir the ar a.

Great food! Gluten Free Menu a plenty! Great and friendly staff! The food was great. The gluten free menu booklet shocked us. Usually you will find a few things to order, or substitutions. My wife and I were shocked to see that it had breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The food was delicious and the coffee was just right. The prices are very reasonable. They also offer Uber Eats.

I went here on my last morning in New York in search of pancakes and had the reviews of the pancakes from previous reviews. The pancakes were ok but I do think it's cheeky to charge extra to have maple syrup. Obviously you don't have to pay extra for corn syrup! All in all this was ok but it didn't blow my mind! The service from Billy the waiter was AMAZING. He's chatty and charming and for that alone you should go here.

Found this by chance walking around looking for somewhere for breakfast and so glad we did. Our first few days we ate in fancy restaurants, and at fancy prices. Then we stumbled upon the Palace. Seeing on the menu all of what we had eaten the previous day's at less than half the price. Thinking maybe smaller portions, what a surprise when our extra large plates and portions came out....Service was efficient, staff friendly. We enjoyed it so much we went the next day too, and the waiter remembered us.

We ate dinner here on a Sunday evening. The service was pleasant and fast, and the food was very good. (I had the pasta puttanesca). The portions were large, and after a tiring day of walking, that was most welcome. The prices were a bit high, though.

Great little diner with the classic dinner counter and booths downstairs, and more seating with tables and chairs upstairs. Clean restaurant and nice staff. Great choice for breakfast, and a decent choice for soup or a sandwich for lunch or dinner after a long day of walking around the city (we did both breakfast and dinner due to convenience/proximity to our hotel.) .

My son and I had breakfast at Palace on Thanksgiving day. The pancakes were very good, and so was the other foodwe had. Highly recommended.

Had breakfast with my family there, as we were staying at the Renaissance 57 which is right next door. The Eggs Benedict with lox was great. Service was very good. It is a diner with American type food.

The Palace restaurant was like my very own diner just like OCD Melvin Udall's favorite hang out in the famous movie 'As Good As It Gets'. I am over the top and OCD when it comes to cleanliness and a delicious cup of coffee. The food is homemade; the breakfast potatoes are delicious without any grease or flavor of oil. The eggs are farm fresh eggs and over medium means over medium - Yes ma 'am it sure does! The bacon is very good quality, thin and crispy with flavor. Let's move on to the pancakes.... I ate at the highly rated (even by Martha Stewart) 'Clinton Street Baking company and restaurant' and they couldn't touch the Palace's pancakes (order real maple syrup separately.) The blueberry with a light dusting of powdered sugar, plain old fashioned and Banana... oh but this must be heaven - they were outstanding! Delicious homemade pancakes not to thin or thick, with an amazing homemade batter piping hot with an aroma so sweet, these pancakes are among the best I've ever had. Cleanliness, fresh delicious coffee, wonderful customer service, quality fresh food with a chef who knows how to prepare it, a local favorite and an exceptional breakfast, who could ask for anything more.... do I hear the theme song to the movie 'Moonlight' playing by any chance?

We’ve been to New York twice in two years and everyday of our holiday we went here for breakfast can not fault it food great and service friendly and helpful. To me it’s a must visit can’t wait till next year.

Always stop in for breakfast or lunch - they never disappoint. Love the Challah French Toast and the coffee. The cheeseburgers are good, too. The service is friendly and prompt.

So much more than coffee. Excellent brunch. Large portions, fast service and reasonable prices! Will return for breakfast.

We went to several different places in New York for breakfast. For an American breakfast this is tough to beat. The menu is more varied than other places for a start. Very helpful if you have children and also helps if you plan going back more than once. The service was excellent both times, very accommodating if we wanted to mix and match the menu items a little. Good location on 57th and reasonably priced. A winner for us.

This place was recommended by my hotel next door since their restaurants are closed for renovation. I went here for breakfast and ordered a bacon omelette with cheddar cheese at the Take-out counter. When I arrived back to my room, it didn't look appetizing and appeared to be dry. I don't know what kind of cheddar cheese they use but I broke off a piece of omelette with my fork and could stretch the cheese quite a bit without the cheese even breaking. Had it not been frigid, I would have taken it back.

Always friendly fast service with fresh ingredients for reliable breakfast eggs, lunch sandwich, or dinner salad.

Excellent for coeliacs. Separate GF menu - Amazing GF waffles and great non GF food too. Ace milkshakes! Good value & good service

Breakfast was just ok with poor service, average food, and higher prices. This is not the best choice in the area by any means.

This is an old time NY breakfast place of ours. Around the corner from our Hotel(LOMBARDY) and a few door from BLT -for Dinner-Which I have just reviewed. Nothing fancy-but consistent.

This deli-style coffee shop on East 57th served full and varied breakfasts in an old style ambience. Could be in LA, St. Louis, or Baltimore. Solid food, reasonable prices, and convenient to the nearly hotels of Lex and 57th.

A year after our last trip to NYC we stopped by for an afternoon cake stop having enjoyed breakfasts here previously. The service was as we remembered, friendly and efficient and the coffee and cakes excellent. So good in fact that we deliberately navigated our way back here the following day for a lunch and cake stop again. Good location just down from Central Park a comfy diner with all you need food wise at any time of the day. Very obliging and we all enjoyed the experience again.

We stopped in for breakfast as we were staying next door at the Hotel 57. This place offers good food at a bargain price for NY. You won't go wrong eating here if you're looking for coffee house food while in NYC

Right around corner from our hotel so swing by after checking in for lunch. Excellent. Good menu with lots of choices. Classic Greek style NYC diner food. Lots of gluten free options on separate menu for my wife. Going back for breakfast today.

I am reluctant to review this because I think it is such a sleeper and don't want it to get crowded. This is my favorite breakfast place. They have the best cheese blintzes anywhere in the world. You just can't get it anywhere like this. Packed with cheese, so delicious flavor. They also have gluten free food. When I come to NY, this is the first place I visit.

A diner atmosphere with booths and a counter. Seems to be busy every time we have visited. Had Western omelette for breakfast. Served with home fried potatoes and toast. A good choice. My wife had Eggs Benedict which she enjoyed. Coffee was good. Good service and friendly environment. Would recommend for breakfast or lunch.

nice neighborhood upscale cozy been going here for years. everything is good. service great people nice, the deserts in the windows look amaze!

We tried this after finding out they had a gluten free menu available and loved it. Ended up going all 3 mornings of our stay in NYC for breakfast. Also took away some gorgeous cheesecake. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Excellent breakfasts, we ate there several times. Thankfully they served a great range of gluten free products which were excellent. Great service and good value

Dining in New York was a delight and finding restaurants that had gluten free food was a bonus. Three of us dined at Palace Restaurant and we all enjoyed our meal; we were looked after beautifully. Having Coeliac Disease it is essential to eat Gluten Free and I was able to find many options of gluten free meals here. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and the house wine delicious.

Went there this morning with my girlfriend and was seated right away in a good booth. Was greeted by a smiling waiter who first took our order for coffee, tea and fresh sqeezed juice. After that we made an order of our own choices and they have a lot to offer :-) My girlfriend ordered from their gluten free menu and also had a lot to choose from. Everything tasted wonderful and we got what was left, in a doggy bag. Prices are very reasonable and you're not walking away hungry. My highest recommendations!

What a nice place. The owner and the waiters are so lovely. The food is very good Coffee a Shop food. Very good eggs and very good grilled cheese sandwich. Also the daily soups are good. Not inexpensive but great value for the neighborhood. Always such a pleasant experience.

Decent American fare diner breakfast. Would probably go again for convenience to Hotel 57 but in a city with so many other options, recommend exploring other options if you're willing to walk or cab it.

Found this gem as was near Central Park, fantastic gluten free options and Avery extensive menu. The pancakes were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Just round the corner from our hotel, I found this restaurant via trip advisor and the reviews looked good. It certainly lived up to expectations and the food quality and service were great. The staff were very accommodating and delivered 1 pancake separately to make a slightly smaller portion for our youngest. Huge portions so make sure you are hungry. The eggs benedict was great as was the bagel with egg and bacon. Pancakes did not disappoint. Well worth venturing out in the rain for.

This is basically a no nonsense diner service is very quick bustling night and day very generous portions extensive menu great for breakfast _ 57th st between park and lex

Was walking to the subway on Lexington Avenue. Unfortunately, I was going the wrong way. However, fortunately I happened upon this restaurant. It was clean, bright and interesting. The large menu is typical coffee shop/ dinner. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was here for breakfast. I ordered the nova lox and onion omelette. It came out perfect and was a huge omelet with a big side of home fries and rye toast. I was very pleased. The coffee was good as well. Considering the size of the portions, it is reasonable. I will definitely return. Service although professional could be a bit more friendly.

Rude service in the extreme. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable behavior toward a solo diner. Avoid this place at all costs.

Great traditional NYC diner - large selection of dishes, big portions and excellent service. Important to point out that this was the only restaurant we went to that didn't have plugged in gratuity, and left it up to us to decide. We went there 3 times during out stay, and every time it was excellent. Highly recommend, if you're in the area.

Spent a week in NYC and ate breakfast and lunch here several times. Really great GF food! Very friendly staff!! Reasonable prices. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you have to eat GF.

While using the term Restaurant in the name this is really a diner. If you order dinner in a restaurant after the entree the server asks if you care for dessert. Here they bring the check before clearing the entree away. Good for breakfast, and an afternoon snack, dinner can have it's pitfalls. The Chicken Pot Pie for instance has lots of chicken, the crust is ruined by being microwaved into a chewy substance and the usual vegetables you might expect it to contain, peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower celery and potato become red, green, yellow peppers and carrots. Heavy on the peppers.

They call it a Restaurant, but it's just a simple diner with a big ego.I had less than an hour before my show so I kept my meal choice simple. I ordered lentil soup and poached eggs on an English muffin. Prices were a bit higher than a NJ diner. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the soup was good.

Great staff and service. Smiley and friendly. Fantastic choice of breakfast items including all the usual items and really good value especially considering the location. I've paid more in less salubrious locations. Would definitely recommend.

Visited New York from Scotland with family. Our daughter is gluten free so finding this restaurant was great, especially as they had lots of gluten free choices. Her waffles and sausages were delicious. The regular waffles were equally as good as were the pancakes and omelettes. Staff looked after us well.

We eat here every time we visit New York - great food - lots of it but have never been told that we hadn’t left enough tip until served by the waiter from Nepal who didn’t think it enough of an insult to bore us ( and other tables ) with his life story but had the nerve to say our tip was insufficient! Never again.

Invariably when we visit NYC The Palace makes our radar for breakfast. Eggs, waffles, smoked salmon and bagels are consistently good, delivered with a smile and great value. Tonight we stepped in for a bite at 9:00pm not realizing that the kitchen closes at 9:30pm. The staff were terrific even though it was the end of the day. We enjoyed our generously appointed sandwiches were delivered with a smile and the same sunny disposition as our breakfast usually is! The diner is a classic and the food is good but it's caring and competent staff that keeps us coming back.

This restaurant was convenient to our hotel. I liked that it w Our food was just OK. I hate the little plastic containers of butter and syrup for the pancakes. Why can't people serve whipped butter and a container of syrup? Such a tedious job opening all of it. My husband's omelet was just Ok, a little too well done. Coffee mediocre with plastic H & H containers. Prices were on par with the other places we tried. $40.00 plus tip. We did not return even though we were in NY for 1 week.

We decided to stop here for breakfast, ready for a long day walking around the city. My husband and I ordered Eggs Benedict which came with a large portion of fried potatoes. My son had the breakfast bagel and my daughter ordered the pancakes. The portions are huge, so perfect if your very hungry. All very tasty and super quick service.

The Palace I have been dining at for over 30 years. It's that late night spot where you can find your burgers, omelettes, salad and home made cooked Greek dishes among an extensive menu. I took my partner here and the diner did not disappoint. A cheese burger, a bagel for my partner were exactly what you would expect from a midtown diner. True, prices have gone up, but the staples remain the same+ additional upstairs seating if you need more privacy!

Excellent food, goods portions, excellent service, happy staff and great value. What more can I say. Returned many times for excellent breakfasts and brunches during my trip. Highly recommended.

Expansive menu with attentive waitstaff. Breakfast was what I was looking for a good home made sit down meal. It seemed there were a lot of regulars which was certainly a good sign. Very reasonable.

We ate here a couple times because--gf pancakes and waffles and whatever else you want. And it was all yummy! Plus lots of coffee--always refilling just how I like it. Great service. Good pricing. So much better than the slow, expensive hotel breakfast. Thank you from our family of 5!

We had breakfast here yesterday. We were staying in a hotel nearby and was planning to head further afield but it was raining so we opted for the more convenient option of the Palace and I'm glad we did. Very good diner breakfast in a restaurant that was busy with with what looked like a pretty regular local crowd. Its good value for what they charge and i found the service to be excellent.

First meal in New York and we made the obvious choice of a burger bar. This is a gem. New York through and through. Burgers were beautifully cooked and the fries were by far the best we had anywhere in the city. Great beer and a great meal.

Reasonably priced breakfast in an old style cafe. Staff friendly. Little wait despite it being busy. The bagel was great. All very enjoyable

Excellent restaurant, you can eat anything Breakfast at the top, delicious pancakes Dinner, very good, varied menus, very fresh ingredients, Very friendly and courageous staff Very clean

Had breakfast here during a business trip. It's a true NY diner. Food was great, and I was just bummed that I couldn't try the sweets and pastries. I'd have no hesitation of stopping back in if I'm in the area again.

We were only sorry we didn't find this place sooner. Amazing food and friendly staff. We will definitely be back again

Just had breakfast. Quick in and out…clean and fast service…had the palace omelette which was yummy….only suggestion would be to have some good spicy sauce options other than Tabasco. would recommend it.

Classic American breakfast eggs pancakes bacon, fresh squeezed orangejouice and coffee. A bit expensive but worth it. Very friendly staff! One minute from Hotel Lux Urban57

Reasonably priced (well priced for NYC!), great service, delicious food. Yes, it is a diner. But my family enjoyed breakfast here, we all had different dishes, everyone was happy.

My friend has eaten here on many occasions for breakfast, so took us there for lunch - mistake! Sadly it’s a case of far too many dishes on the menu and very few done very well. I had a tasteless chicken pasta with mushrooms .... it was quite unpleasant. My friend sent her meal back as it was burnt, dry and tasteless. My partner ate his but only because he was hungry. I suggest they strip back the menu and focus on fewer dishes cooked to a high standard. The service was ok.

Googled some places nearby our tour pick up that morning that could offer gluten free pancakes... Found the palace and thought it sounded worth a try! We were so happy we found this place, full gluten free menu with so many yummy things on offer all day. I was one excited coeliac because they did waffles!!! We both were served by lovely waiters who attended to us very well and gave us service with a smile, the waffles arrived and my friend had pancakes- we were both very happy with the taste and cost of our breakfast. This little gem is worth a stop- looks very basic and is easily passable! Make sure you visit as it will not disappoint!

Perfect spot to eat in this area. We enjoyed so much the first visit that we made it a routine stop next 2 days. We even stopped by and ordered take out. The menu has many options and food is delicious and reasonably priced! Highly recommend. Service is tops!!

I ate breakfasts here. Great spinach omelette with feta cheese came with lyonnaise potatoes. Service was very fast. They serve a nice Celestial Seasonings Earl Gray tea. The fresh fruit and pastries looked great but I did not try them. The only thing I didn't like is that they make singles sit at the counter.

My family of 7 and I ate breakfast at the Palace over July 4th weekend in 2016. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Although it was busy, the server was able to keep up with our needs and kept the coffee coming! Personal quirks - The tables are very small and the plates are very oversized. The combination was complete clutter and lack of space. The food was hot and good and there was a good variety of usual suspects of breakfast items: eggs, pancakes, bagels, etc. The coffee was tasty, which is important in the morning. We enjoyed our breakfast and would recommend this restaurant for a tasty breakfast.

My daughter and I were shopping and walking on Black Friday at lunchtime and we looking for a place to eat that wouldn't be too expensive. After looking at the menu we decided to try the Palace. We got seated upstairs and our orders were taken promptly. I ordered the bison burger which came with cheddar cheese, half an avocado and grilled onions as well as fries. My daughter got her go to..chicken Caesar wrap which came with chips. Both were delicious! The service was good and the bill, even with the tax was $30. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Good breakfast. Not awesome but good. Waffle eggs bacon and fruit. Coffee was decent. OJ was fresh. Would give them another chance.

We last came here just before lockdown in 2020 and it was a joy to return. My husband and I breakfasted at The Palace every morning and it really is the perfect diner. Great omelettes (mine had mozzarella, basil and mushroom in it) with scrummy (and naughty) fried potatoes on the side. We also tried the bagel with schmear (cream cheese) and lox (smoked salmon) - lovely bagels with just the right 'chew' and a very generous portion of lox. The coffee is decent and topped up regularly, and the staff gave us a warm welcome. Thank you Billy - we can't wait to return.

We chose this place because we were close and they delivered. I must say we only had waffles but they were very tasty. In fact we liked it quite a bit and ate there 3 times during the week we were there. I especially adored the gentleman who came to my hotel to deliver the food, He had the biggest smile each time I ordered in, I was pleasantly surprised to see hime arrive at the speed of light!! Thank you

Came for breakfast and friendly feelings started - both greeting & seating but after that I wish I hadn't stopped here. Why? -The booths were tight (no I'm not big, wide etc) and stiff upright! -Table was small; too small for the plates and cups. -Then I ordered an omelette, and it came hot but it was flat; thinner then a pencil! The ingredients were too few. Service came by with coffee. Not for me.

It was pouring and we had just had our haircuts and couln't get an Uber home and down the block my wife spotted a dinner on East 57 Street between Park Ave and Lexington. "Let's have dinner there." Ugh no! "I'm tied of standing in the rain." So we walk the 30 paces and went in. What a marvelous dinner. The best pea sour I have in years.
Great casual omelet
Great service and very good breakfast. We had palace omelet and turkey wrap. Would definitely visit again. The waiters were really nice and service was fast.
