Beautiful little Italian with old world charm, and a great gluten free menu! I had a pizza that was topped and cooked to perfection and was massive. All the food they brought out looked amazing, my partner had non gf bruschetta and gnocchi that looked delicious too

Perfect for the four of us. Went early. It gets loud inside. Amazing pasta. Nice outside area but a bit chilly from all the walking so we opted to sit inside.

Great food. Convenient to Natural History Museum and outdoor market. Family split pasta w/clams, NY Strip and chicken parm. All very tasty. Chicken parm was outstanding. Everyone happy and didn’t break the bank. Next time family wants to go to Natural History museum I will look forward to eating here after !

On February 19 my husband, my friend and I came to Pappardella for dinner like we had done many times before. It was consistently good. But yesterday something happened. Lamb which we ordered medium came not even well done--it was burnt to death, risotto smelled with chlorine, roasted potato was probably precooked and warmed up in microwave, veal Milanese came sour like they delivered it in lemon juice concentrate, and in addition we had to wait almost an hour. We asked for explanation. They said that their regular chef was on vacation. We assumed that the entire kitchen staf went on vacation and delivery people were cooking. Even this wild assumption couldn't explain the quality of food (food???) they brought to the table. Besides the manager offers us free tea or coffee and desert but after all we were charged for two teas $8. I doubt we will be back soon

This is a friendly neighborhood restaurant with excellent food, a good wine selection, friendly staff. They have the expected chicken parm (very tasty, and a generous portion), and some excellent fish dishes including brazino.

Based on a friend's recommendation, we tried this restaurant before going to a show at the Beacon. Small but cozy restaurant, tables not too close together, service was efficient and food was excellent. Hostess came over several times to see how we were doing, owner? not sure, but she made us feel like this place really cared about what was on the plate and if customers are happy. Pastas are fresh, veal is outstanding. We will be back for sure and highly recommend this restaurant.

Good Italian food, including pizza at this local Italian restaurant near the American Museum of Natural History. Nice menu selections and good desserts.

Edward, the host and manager made our anniversary celebration one we will always remember. From the roomy window table, to the two complimentary surprises: kir royal champagne cocktails, and the final warm chocolate gf brownie topped with Carmel ice cream and a flickering candle, he was so charming and attentive. The restaurant week menu was delicious and a wonderful choice for us. Thank you Edward and staff for a lovely evening!

First night in New York so looked for GF options near where we we’re staying. Husbands sea food dish had plenty of shellfish, but sauce lacked depth of flavour. The GF pasta ( fungi) was tasty but a tad over cooked, about to disintegrate . Service was inattentive, we were invisible. So disappointed after reading other reviews.

Outstanding service and attention, quiet ambiance, real Italian food. Fine attention from the staff and managers.

We stopped there after a day in Central Park. Ordered lobster ravioli and margherita pizza. Ravioli was bad. Pizza nothing special and not salty but still edible. I wouldn’t return there.

The Husband and I were in the wonderful city of NY one Thursday afternoon for a taping of the Match Game and decided to treat ourselves to a tasty late lunch / early dinner (however you choose to look at it) at the wonderful Pappardella Restaurant. Upon entering any NY restaurant you never know what to expect; some are extremely dark and cramped, others open and bright. This one did not disappoint. We were greeted immediately, brought to our table, and then offered water and given the day's specials by our friendly and attentive server, Angelica. If you have been reading these reviews you would know the Husband is about 98% gluten free, whereas I am maybe 80% give or take a few pieces of bread. Well this time we only ordered from the GF menu and I have to say everything was delicious!! First, for "appetizers" we ordered the garlic bread (on ciabatta bread), tomato bruschetta and classic margherita pizza. For our entrees I opted for the pasta bolognese with beef & broccoli and the Husband chose the chicken parmigiana. Both dishes bursting with flavor! We didn't stop there though - for dessert we shared the chocolate torta (or maybe he ate most of it) and each enjoyed a glass of Moscato d Asti. If you are in the NYC area, definitely check out the fantastic Pappardella - the decor, service, food and overall experience is worth it!!

We stopped here for lunch and were seated promptly inside. Our waiter wasn’t the friendliest and he pretty much avoided looking at anyone, so that he could enjoy a chat with the hostess. We waited 40 minutes for a salad and a pizza! The meals were average in taste, not worth the wait at all. Our pizza was tiny and the salad was a total rip of. It’s really not worth the money at all.

Solid choice for a reliable meal. The salmon is particularly delicious. Always packed with locals who enjoy Italian food.

One of the worst lunches ever. I ordered pasta with shrimp. It had absolutely no flavor. Didn't even seem to have salt. No sauce. It was completely tasteless!

Here for Thanksgiving week and stumbled in and a fantastic choice. Great food and service...deserts were amazing. Great sandwiches and salads and all. Cool location and old school atmosphere.

Excellent Italian food and service. Had penne a la vodka sauce and my wife had a Margarita pizza. Both were excellent but the vodka sauce on the pasta was the best I have ever had! The flower less chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream was unusually good. Believe the restaurant was excellent and should be rated higher. Will be back.

Great Italian. Extensive menu. The meals are well made and some of them have a nice twist. For example: sweet & spicy sausage, sweet green peas, sage & vodka sauce - it was very good (Pappardelle Buttera $24). We also enjoyed the intimate and homelike ambiance.

Outstanding experience from the moment we walked in. Our waiter Jose was efficient and helpful with our selections. Food was creative and delicious. Meal pacing was spot on. Asparagus pesto & sauteed calamari to start. Lobster ravs (chunks of lobster meat) & veal scalopine marsala mains. Delicious tiramisu to finish. Friendly and efficient staff. Love the traditional Italian bistro ambience. We WILL be back when on Upper West Side for museums, etc. Note: was a frigid night in NYC and the double doors helped keep the room warm.

New to the neighborhood we went to Pappardella. Beautiful European ambiance, the food tasted authentic italian. I loved the saucy calamari and branzino, while my husband opted for a kale salad and steak. Perfectly cooked we enjoyed everything, and pushed hard to finish this amazing zabayone. Service was attentive, we never felt rushed. Highly recommend.

We had an enjoyable meal in early December. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays with tinsel and greenery. We were seated promptly, and our server arrived with a smile soon after. Asparagus appetizer in pesto sauce was tasty, and the Caesar salad was crisp with good dressing. I had one of the specials, pasta with beef short ribs in a rich ragu sauce. It was delicious, and it was a generous serving. My wife enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana. The bread pudding for dessert was tasty but unusual - a thin layer of bread pudding served on a hot skillet with lots of cream and ice cream. Price was very reasonable for what we received. Pizzas at neighboring tables looked good, too. They can skip the 70s music, but it was not too loud and barely heard when the restaurant was full.

We walked into this restaurant after visiting the National History Museum. It was very late about 2.30pm, we were afraid it wasn’t opened. Staff were helpful, friendly, food were great and the wine was good too. Try the linguine Vongole and also the ravioli with Lobster sauce. We ordered 2 bottles of wine in the end.

After visiting the Natural History Museum, we stopped for a light dinner at Pappardella’s. They offer inside and outside seating. We ate inside and found the ambiance pleasant and comfortable. We split a Caesar salad and Caprino pizza. The Caprino pizza was particularly flavorful and tasty! The wait staff is attentive and friendly. It was the perfect spot for a quick dinner.

Thanks to Edward and the amazing team for accommodating a last minute booking and also our early arrival. Great place work many gluten free options. Pizza was outstanding and the wine was terrific also. We had a corner table so could see everything that was going on including a couple getting engaged! Big cheers and soon applause throughout. Great vibe and not full of tourists either except us!!

I had a lovely dinner at Papparadella, which I discovered just by wandering around the neighborhood when staying in a friend’s apartment. It is a lovely, relatively small and intimate spot with fabulous food, a small but varied menu, and gracious service. It is absolutely charming. Frankly, I could have dined there every night for s week and not tired of it, but alas, my budget did not allow for such repeated indulgence. Which is not to say this is an expensive place - I found the prices very reasonable. I was simply in penny pinching mode. I’ll definitely return here on my next trip to NYC.

Dinner on a February Sunday with the restaurant very busy. Good choices: small plate cheese, linguini Vongole, spaghetti fruitti di mare and wine (Gavi (Piedmont) and Montepulciano D'Abruzzo (Abruzzo). Service efficient and right paced. Mark was just charming! Located in UWS in a safe neighborhood.

A great experience. We are repeat customers. Great staff. Great kitchen. And an especially excellent manager/hostess named Marion.

Anytime we are on the Upper West side we eat here. They always have something new to try. The pizza's are amazing. We love the mushroom. My daughter has Celiac and we always feel confident that they can offer her whatever she asks for!! Kind friendly staff, wonderful service.

Four of us stopped here for an early dinner before walking to Lincoln Center for a show. We were greeted and seated right away, received attentive and friendly service, and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while we perused the menu. We all agreed that the food was great. I had a homemade pasta (wide, flat noodle) with short rib ragout—divine. Friends were equally impressed with their entrees as well. Their tiramisu was a bit of a miss, but that’s probably because they buy their desserts elsewhere. Overall, I would definitely recommend Pappardella, and will return next time I’m in New York.

Always such a pleasure to come here where the wine list is excellent, decor is apt, service personalised and the food delicious..

We found this restaurant when checking Travelzoo for things to do and places to eat while on a weekend getaway to NYC. The reviews on Yelp were good, so we decided to try it and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food delicious. We started with a shared order of mini croissants and jam. The croissants were buttery and flakey, we each ordered a different drink: one mimosa, one bellini and one Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was so-so, but the other two drinks were very good. There was three of and we all ordered different entrees from the brunch menu: a pannini, a frittata and an omelette. We sampled each others and we all agreed that all three were delicious. The food was fresh and hot, portions generous, we finished with a shared dessert of marsala infused zabbaione with fresh strawberries. Yum. We had a table outside on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely brunch.

ordered online 1.5 hours not delivered just cancelled dont bother ordering from this restaraunt. not okay

Last night on a very cold night we ordered to be delivered fettuccine Alfredo with some veggies with a Caesar Salad and it was the best ever. The only home delivery five star rating I have ever given. We have been here before but delivered with this Quality, you can not beat this placed.

There are very few great restaurants left on the Upper West Side. Outdoor dining structures also don't look quite upscale. But after looking around for a late evening dinner place, we found this gem. Great atmosphere, very nice staff, great kitchen. We had mushroom pasta, linguini with clams, Italien beer, cocktail, and Grappa. The service and feeling in the restaurant is such, that after awhile it feels as if we had been a vacation trip. We had service at the bar, but outdoors is just as cozy and private.

We ate here before seeing Seinfeld at the Beacon Theatre which was a block away. The tables are very close together, which is my only complaint. The food was good. Since we were pressed for time, we only had one course. I had grilled salmon with artichokes on a bed of spinach and the other person had the pesto gnocchi. Both were very good. Would love to have had dessert, but had to make our show. In the summer, they put tables out on the sidewalk.

We had a nice al fresco dinner here - fresh salad and some nice pasta dishes. Sitting outside and people watching was great fun on a beautiful warm evening. What really stood out was the staff - the Maître d, server and others were kind, friendly, efficient and they made the evening truly enjoyable.

Amazing food and amazing service! An amazing atmosphere and a must if you're in the Upper West Side. The perfect end to our New York City stay.

Easy going restaurant. Nice wine list. Enjoyed pizza with salad. Large list of food. Nice to see families and couples enjoying time together.

This is about my first visit ever after living a block away for about two and one half years. It was solid. The service was perfect. The quality of everything was good to very good, except the pizza because I didn't care for the crust because it reminded me of a thin english muffin. These are the details: Cavolo (kale) salad, 15 Spaghetti Polpette (meatballs), 21 Pollo Milanese, 22: Very good Margerita Burrata (pizza), 16 Chianti Tizia (250 ml), 14 Gavi (250 ml), quartino, 14.7 Negroni, 11.2 TOTAL, 114 before tax TIP the space to wait inside the restaurant for your table is slight to nothing.

I love everything about this restaurant. The vibe is super cozy and it’s a great place to go with family or friends. The food came out quickly and the staff were all friendly. The food was amazing!! The rigatoni with vodka sauce was some of the best pasta I’ve tried. The margarita pizza was so good, and the cheese on top so fresh. We were celebrating my dad’s birthday and they brought out tiramisu which was so sweet (and yummy).

Outstanding luncheon experience! Wonderful authentic Italian dining. We enjoyed an al fresco experience that included truly authentic homemade gnocchi, delicious pasta with sweet sausage and broccoli, a wonderfully flavorful cheese-filled meatball appetizer large enough for two, classic broccoli rabe, and an amazing baked asparagus appetizer. A wonderful dining experience to compliment a day in Central Park. The last inside dining room is also very classic and charming, A must try experience for Italian food lovers. Most highly recommended!

The pasta was some of the best pasta I have ever tried everyone on the table liked the food. The service was very good our waitress was called Anda but the whole staff at the restaurant were really kind, polite and helpful. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant for dinner or lunch

This is a very well located spot near the Museum of Natural History and the Historical Society. Our servers could not have been nicer and the sandwiches we had were terrific. Dessert was very good too. We didn't have wine but noticed that they are generous when pouring.Note that the restrooms are down a steep flight of stairs.

The food is wonderful here along with the service. I have celiac and have found them to be more than accommodating to my gluten free needs while pleasing the rest of my family and their glutinous ways LOL. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Consistent and reliable. One of my all time favorite restaurants in this neighborhood. Close to Museum of Natural History and New York Historical Society. Great for groups and kids. Pizzas are delicious and fun to share

We were excited to eat at this restaurant tonight. Pretty good reviews. We were very disappointed with both the service and the food. Our server was non existent and forgot many items we ordered. Especially when we ordered a nice bottle of Brunello di montalcino and she forgot. When she suggested the fried burrata with dipping breed and forgot the bred. Another server had to bring once we were already finished. My spaghetti frutti de Mari did not have shrimp as expected. The eggplant Parmesan was bland and cold. Yes. Cold. The gnocchi was average at best. The manager removed the eggplant from the menu and discounted the frutti di mare by 50%. But I did not care as the dinner was uncomfortable with the slow service and mediocre food. There are so many great restaurants in this area of town. I suggest looking elsewhere.

As mentioned in the title average restaurant to stay in New York, a bit long time, courteous staff, average price in NY. If you want pasta it's fine.

loved everything about this Gem.....outstanding food, outstanding wine selection and a staff that makes you feel like home. The Calamari was incredible !!! Don't miss this place.

I am a born New Yorker and have several favorite restaurants that I frequent, one new one that we have walked by hundreds of times, we went to last night for our second delicious dinner. The atmosphere was filled with native New Yorkers - not tourists - lots of people having a good time. I had the prosciutto and melon as a starter, and unlike a trendy restaurant, I got enough prosciutto and a very sweet melon. I am a picky eater and I requested my Chicken Milanese come with just potatoes and all the salad and relish on the side (so my wife could eat it) which Rayna our server did. I know it seems like a small request but at many restaurants they do not listen to me. Just a great experience and now a new favorite that we will go back to with the confidence that we will have a pleasurable experience.

What a disappointment. I’ve been coming to the restaurant for years, but this is my first visit in a while. We used to love the food and service. The place was about 85 degrees inside. The hostess had on a sweater with holes all over it. The wait staff were clearly more interested in talking to each other than serving guests. The bathroom was nasty and had no soap. Food was marginal. I hate to say it, but I won’t be back. Clearly, they just don’t care anymore.

My daughter and I ordered the picnic in the park luncheon. The food was delicious. It came with a nice tablecloth and cutlery. We just had to pick up the bag and find a good spot in the park to enjoy. There was so much food! Except for the fact that there are only 2 waters, 2 apples and 2 cookies, this lunch could easily be shared. The portions of salad, antipasto and the sandwiches are so generous. The restaurant is a short walk to the park.

We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the Natural History Museum, we found this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. Great food, both pizza and fresh pasta and lasagne. Dishes are plentiful with what we drink dessert, only coffee. The maitre and other employees give a very good service.

I rarely if ever write reviews but my experience at Pappardella almost a month later is still bothering me. My husband and I came to New York to visit our adult children and celebrate my husband’s birthday at Pappardella. The wait staff was inattentive so we ended up dealing with whoever was closest to our table. The bill included food we didn’t order. Although we told the restaurant this was a birthday celebration the food took so long to arrive and there was so much confusion we skipped dessert…which was too bad as it was a birthday dinner. The host stood by and watched the confusion…never stepping in to alleviate issues. To top it off the food was not great.

I'm probably prejudiced, being gluten-free and all, but I loved Pappardella's restaurant. They had a great selection of food for the GF as well as for everyone else. The service was at our pace, certainly not rushed (which we preferred), and very professional but friendly. The wine list was, as expected, a great selection of Italian wines with other varieties also available. The restaurant was full but the design of the restaurant gave it a great atmosphere of almost feeling like we were the only ones there. I am already looking forward to our return trip there.

10 of my family members from 15-62 from N.J. and New England visited pre show at Lincoln Center (a 15 minute walk away). We split into 2 tables to fit, and were seated near each other. The management and staff were really friendly and attentive. Food was very reasonably priced and delicious. Something for everyone and we were not rushed at all. Was exactly what we needed. Will definitely keep Pappardella on my recco list to friends visiting NYC.

Autumn and New York: a stroll through the Secret Garden near 5th Avenue and 100th St., and then walking to the north of the Park and then onward via The Great Hill, The Reservoir and The Great Lawn to Bow Bridge and then the ever-so fine "pasta on the cake" was dining at Papardella's! Thank you for hanging in through these difficult times!

As good Italians with children we were looking for a good place to rest after a morning spent at the American Museum of Natural History. The reviews, good, brought me here: for safety I had booked through their website but actually when we showed up (13.30) was occupied only one table despite a very large indoor room and many seats outside (closed with outdoor) and during lunch will be in all 3 tables of diners. The place is nice and, as mentioned, within minutes of the Natural History Museum on foot. The dishes are a bit of a mix of culinary stories and cultures but, both the first (simple spaghetti with tomato sauce for children, with meatballs for me) and the second proved to be excellent and plentiful. 1 appetizer (ham and figs), 1 spaghetti "alla marinara", 1 spaghetti with meatball sauce and 1 cutlet + 1 bottle of water and 2 coffee in total $137 to which we added 20% tip to the waiter for a normal service. I hope it will help for Italian families settling in NY!

A fantastic friendly Italian, with a choice of classic dishes. Outside seating is lovely for a warm evening. Will be coming again !

Visited this old school Italian American neighborhood gem before a show at the Bacon Theater. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was busy and buzzing when we arrived. We asked our server for a few recommendations as we sipped on delicious house specialty cocktails, and we were not disappointed. For starters, we shared a Margarita Pizza made with burrata cheese (unique), and to our surprise, it came out as a flatbread (reminded me of pizzerias in Rome) perfect for an app. We took our server's recommendations and tried the two dishes named after the restaurant, the Pappardelle butter and the Pappardelle Funghi. They were perfectly cooked and delicious. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for dessert but so looking forward to being back and trying so many more dishes on this lovely extensive menu. Grazia for making our experience memorable.

Literally stumbled across this place on our last day in New York and we are very glad we did. Its not on your "mainstream" holiday routes but please go and search this place out. Very friendly greeting, nice waiters, nice wine.In fact they didnt have the wine i chose but offered me a better grape for the same price.Good start. It simply got better after a very nice starter culminating in the best lamb ribs i have ever eaten anywhere. The wife had a ravioli which was superb but had massive food when trying the plentiful lamb

Fantastic restaurant! The food is excellent, the service and friendliness of the German managing director and also the service are simply unique! We stayed there three times during our stay in New York and are thrilled - see you again!

After we came out of the Museum of Natural History, we stopped at this Italian restaurant at 2:00 pm. Good food, reasonable prices and service.

My favorite spot for a special dinner. I have celiac disease and Pappardella's gluten free options do NOT disappoint! My favorite entreé is the pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil. Out of this world. The portions are generous and so is the management. The waitstaff really go out of their way to make patrons feel comfortable. Recommend for out-of-town friends, too. Great atmosphere and delicious food!

We went there for a “family style” experience. An Italian one. We order a Manhattan. Was watery and not good. We order a “Assorted Plate”. Was good. But they didn’t bring any bread until we ask for that and....they brought the Entrees at the same time. Totally off. The plates were Tagliatelle Spinachi (was regular good), Lunch bowl (was bland), and Vitello Parmegianna (overcocked and the spaghetti was cold and undercook). Three people at the table and they add 20% gratuity to the check. Never will be back. Please, don’t go. The service was bad. The food was worse.

There are so many great Italian restaurants in Manhattan. This one feels special for a few reasons. It is not pretentious. It is in a great Upper West Side location - off the tourist path. The food is amazing. The maitre made us feel like special guests. We shared carpaccio and the pesto asparagus - both excellent. We each had a different pasta and we were all very impressed. We will be back when we visit New York again.

Delicious food at this neighborhood Italian restaurant on the UWS. Always busy and quite noisy but there are tables outside. Reservations required

I visited on a Monday night after watching a show at the planetarium, which is a five-minute walk away. The restaurant was about half full, and we were able to get a table by the window. The tables were close to each other, so I had to keep leaning forward to be able to hear my friend. I ordered a meatball spaghetti and a prosciutto pizza. Both dishes are decent; nothing exceeded the expectation. We ordered some cannoli for dessert, which was great. The service was good. For some reason, servers kept adding water every five minutes, which I later learned was common in restaurants in the U.S.A., but I found it stressful. The restaurant seems to have an extensive wine collection, but I didn't feel like drinking on a Monday night. In general, it was average. This is an excellent place to go if you are hungry around the area, but it doesn't worth a second visit.

Paparadello is an acceptable New York Italian restaurant with slow service. So why go there? Very high rents are transforming the stretch of Colombus Avenue in the 70s and 80s into an urban desert. Lots of restaurants have been priced out and those that remain, like Paparadello are obviously struggling to provide good food at affordable prices. Maybe you live in the area, or are visiting the American Museum of Natural History nearby and want someplace to eat a little better than the museum’s cafes and food court. Paparadello will probably serve your needs, but I can’t work up any real enthusiasm for this review. If you have the time and energy to walk over to Amsterdam Avenue you will have more choices.

Not impressed at all. Service was horrid, so slow. Bread was hard and not good at all. The gnocchi was tasty as was the eggplant. Pricey for what you get.

I am ver honest with my reviews, DO NOT waste your money in this restaurant, here is why: First, the food does not taste good at all, there are way more better italian restaurants in the city for less. The prices are ridiculous. I had one of thier pastas, it was around $30, for a cup of pasta. I sware my girlfriend and I finished eating and went outside go get more food. For this kind of price, go to cheescake factory, get your money's worth. The waiter, completely unprofessional. He greeted us with this actitud that we had to hurry and tell him what we wanted to drink. Got our drinks, and he never made sure we had our reffils, I had to ask him three times. Not to mention, we asked for more bread, he said "sure sure" but we were never served what we asked. Time to pay the bill, after the horrible dinner, we asked to split in half , two debit cards, seems easy right? He went ahead and charged my credit card for the whole bill, he claims he voided the transaction. Then went back and charged us for the split bill. So I got charged 3 times what the split bill was! I understand, human error, but he wasn't courtageous enough to let us know about the incident, since everyone knows even if you void the transaction your money is still on hold. That happened saturday June 30, is July 6.. I am still waiting for my money on hold to be back. Not to mention all the back and forth I have to gone through with the restaurant's manager and the bank. Unecessary stress for a customer. The accountant for the restaurant says I need to file a claim with the bank because they do reasure me that they voided the transaction, which I have asked for evidence and they said they are not able go get me one because is not "in there system" Best part was coming back to the restaurant after checking my account and seeing the mistake they have made. The manager was extremely nice, but the waiter was not. He approached his body extremely close to my face trying to intimidate me, touch my arm and said "it didn't got charged you just have to wait". What kind of a waiter does that kind of actitud. As soon as he said that he left and his manager took over. He never apologized. This kind of stress and bad times for a customer is unacceptable. I say it again, do not waste your time and money on the worst italian restaurant I havr ever been to.

I visited Pappardella last night for the first time. Although I am a native of Manhattan and know many restaurants it had never made the list of options before yesterday. I couldn't be happier that I tried this remarkably cozy, friendly "ristorante" with a terrific menu, friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. I would also mention that the number of gluten free ("senza gluten") issues is remarkably varied. I will be back in the future and it has become one of my "go to" places on the Upper West Side. One piece of advice -- the secret is out and this is a popular spot so be sure to book a table in advance.

It was a rainy Thursday night. My partner and I were looking for a place for a decent meal without spending a fortune. We'd been to a party at a near by bar and Pappardella was on the next corner. The place was neither crowded nor empty. We were seated immediately by a very accommodating server. The food, unpretentious and delicious, the wine reasonable and also delicious. And the portions sufficient to provide a second meal. (When you eat out a lot in NYC on a limited budget that's a necessity). And the bill, though not cheap didn't break the bank. In short we loved it.

Dined here for lunch on a Saturday; it was decent but not special; I had a pizza; companion had chicken parmigiana; neither passed muster for a NYC Italian restaurant; I had a glass of Chianti and ordered an Italian Cabernet Sauvignon; both were ordinary; caffe latte and biscotti were likewise only passable; with so many options, I would not pick this one.

I just went here with my husband and this place is absolutely amazing (as always!) The food is spectacular and the service is on point. I can’t speak for anyone who had a bad review but I’ve been here every single time my husband and I visit New York because it is a staple to us. I literally get depressed I would not be able to visit this restaurant. The pappardelle pasta is simply perfect. Try their white sangria and bruschetta too! No matter what you order you cannot go wrong. Make sure next time you’re in New York, especially if you are staying in the upper West side, to do yourself a favor and make this one of your stops.

We picked up our picnic lunch at 12:05. We planned for 12:15, so pat on the back for them. The meal was great. There was a lot and flavor of the antipasto was fresh crisp and fresh. The pesto salad was rich and creamy. The sandwiches had a great balance of meat to toppings. The cookie were soft and chewy, just the way I like them. The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a hearty flavor, with butter. The drink I didn’t care for but the apple was nice for a later snack. It was a lot of food, but liked it very much.

The food is excellent and the service is very good but we asked to share a sandwich and a salad and they came on different plates. We had hoped that the kitchen would split and plate them. But both were excellent.

The food here was incredible. Huge selection of gluten free options, They happily accommodated my meal substitution . I have the amazing veal parm with a side of Parmesan broth and truffle pasta, and my husband had the lobster ravioli. Both were exceptional. Portions were ample.

While visiting the archives at the NY Historical Society, I popped out for lunch and discovered Pappardella. Now admittedly, for $55 (before tip), it ought to have been a fine lunch, and it really WAS! The grilled salmon was about the best that I've had in the city all week. The red sangria is $12 a glass and I enjoyed every drop with the abundant and fresh, flavorful fruit. The service was most excellent. The Sinatra music piped into the outdoor tented area made me smile. Prime people watching site. Charming outdoor decor with live boxwood hedges growing around the outdoor seating tent. This restaurant could definitely turn me into one of those "ladies who lunch."

This place was the best meal we had while visiting the city! It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The best dish was my mushroom pasta dish which was out of this world. We also enjoyed a light fruity arugula salad. We shared a fish dish which was fresh and yummy. The service was great, waitress answered all questions and explained each dish. The ambiance was quiet and made you feel oike you were in Italy as opposed to New York City. We loved tis place and would go back next time.

Fantastic day, fantastic food, lots of choices, fantastic staff.top choice for a relaxing no fuss day, thank you all, for the McDonald family

This busy local Tuscan restaurant on the UWS usually requires reservations for dinner. The Orecchiete Baresi was very good and the Cacio E Pepe good. The house salad was fresh and a good selection with avocado etc. The service was slow and they volunteered to comp all our wine. A very good and affordable meal! Great local place

Don't let the white tablecloths scare you, the restaurant is nice but not formal. It is also within walking distance of Central Park and has some outdoor seating. The ravioli formaggio was delicious. Gnocchi a little think and pizza just okay. Our server was attentive.

Very cosy restaurant, however the pizza was kind of tasteless. The bottom was cooked with cheese and tomato sauce and on top they put a lot of ruccola with a bit of raw ham. Strange combination.

Super disappointing night tonight. We are visiting NYC with our family. One of our daughters has Celiac so when we travel I spend countless hours researching Celiac friendly restaurants with gluten free options. We arrived 10 minutes before our 8:00 reservation and waited until 8:26. We were a party of 6 and the restaurant is small. I understand it may be a bit challenging to seat 6 which is why we made a reservation. After being told multiple times, by the hostess (who i don’t blame), that it’d be just 5 more minutes we could not wait any longer. There’s literally no place to stand so our teenagers kept standing outside in the freezing cold because you could not move in the entrance. I asked to speak with the manager, Perry, who was pretty unfazed that they could not seat us. Did not offer a thing. Now we are out two Uber fares and have six hungry people, one being a Celiac which makes eating out a huge challenge. Ruined our night out in New York. Terrible customer service.

Went because of the proximity to the natural history museum and because they had a GF menu. Good thing was their GF was definitely made right because we had no bad reactions. Service was quick and nice. Food however was just okay I had the black truffle ravioli which basically tasted like a plain cheese ravioli you take out of the freezer.

All plates fantastic, the lamb super; the eggplant parmigiana good; however the tuscany wine is awesome and good price

We split an entree which was okay, but the overall price was quite high for what we purchased. Would look around for another choice in the future.

Our daughter and fiancée took us to this lovely Italian restaurant in Manhattan that was “old school” from start to finish. It is a small place that also has tables out on the sidewalk although the heat really mandated the air-conditioned dining room. There is a quaint and well-stocked bar in the rear of the dining room, and the inside is completely done up in dark wood tones. The menu is filled with great-looking items that are superbly prepared as well as reasonably priced. I had a pasta with seafood dish (frutti de mare), that I really enjoyed. We all had appetizers and desserts as well, and the meals still averaged under $50/person, which was great value for that quality of food and service. I highly recommend this place.

Well positioned near the American Museum of Natural History, the Beacon Theater and the New York Historical Society this restaurant offers comfortable outside and inside eating. We chose the outside since it was very loud inside. There is a good selection of items especially interesting pastas and a fairly wide wine menu. Many cocktails are also offered and we saw some couples choosing to enjoy them. A large pitcher of excellent sangria would serve four.

We came here with a party of six, two that are gluten free including a child. Everyone working here was wonderful and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious and creative. The atmosphere was nice, it was cozy and not too loud at all. We had several appetizers all of which were delicious and so fresh. This with gluten issues in our party said it was the best gluten free pasta they have found. The Cappelini Cacio E Pepe was perfect. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in the area. It was a wonderful meal and evening.

Really great Italian restaurant in NY. They have a special Gluten Free Menu. The food was great and the service too. Top!

Wonderful Flavorful Italian Cooking.. Great Pasta and fantastic Salads with very fresh ingredients. The Veal Marsala was totally fantastic and the deserts wonderful and crunchy...

As someone said in another review, the desserts were the best part of the meal. The food was just ok, nothing I would want to come back for. I had lobster ravioli, but could not taste any lobster inside the ravioli until I found two pieces of claw meat floating in the sauce. Service was fine & we were seated promptly with our reservation. Warning, the restrooms are down some very steep stairs if anyone has problems with steps this will be difficult for them.

Spent the afternoon in Central Park so we decided to try a restaurant in Manhattan for dinner. This was our first experience in a Manhattan restaurant since the pandemic hit and we were very pleasantly surprised. Our car was parked on 75th and Amsterdam and while walking to the park we passed this Italian restaurant Pappardella on 75th and Columbus Avenue. There were quite a few people eating outside so after reading some quick reviews we thought we would come back later and have dinner there. We had a very relaxing dinner outside at a table on the sidewalk. They also had tables wrapped around the corner into the street. My husband had the lamb chops with a side of savory risotto. His lamb chops were cooked medium rare and he said they were perfect. I had a caprese salad and grilled chicken. For dessert we shared three scoops of authentic Italian gelato. My husband is picky about his espresso and he said the espresso was excellent. Food was delicious, service was attentive. The manager/owner? was working his butt off adding more tables/rearranging tables to accommodate people that showed up without reservations. We didn't have reservations either and I would have completely understood if they couldn't accommodate us. They were very welcoming and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would definitely eat there again, felt completely safe and it seemed to be very popular with the locals.

Best pizza in the town! This place is located in pleasent area away from the bustle. You need to try it <3

This is a local restaurant for me. I went in to pick up an Easter bread that was being sold especially for the holiday. I had the worst experience I've ever had with an employee in any business, let alone the hospitality sector. The man, who told me his name was none of my business, was identified to me as the manager. He was not only unable to understand that I was there for the pickup, he immediately verbally agressive. Having a bad day? Just always like that? Who knows. I will never spend a dime in the place again, and will tell my experience to neighbors who go. The owner was not there that day, but I hope to be able to speak to her in the future. This occured on April 8, 2023.

Pappardella restaurant was not known to us and we came upon it by chance. We were looking for a post NY marathon celebration and the restaurant suited us well.

Pappardella has been an Upper West side staple for many years and now I know why...the food is DELICIOUS. Simple, unpretentious, great quality. A good place for a celebration or for an everyday meal. I look forward to my next visit.

This is a wonderful place with a wider range in their menu. They have great drinks and I highly recommend the caprese sandwich. The decor is tasteful and authentic and it feels like a special little touch of Italy in the centre of NYC. The tables are very close together so be aware that you will probably hear the next table talking but overall the quality of the food is worth it.

Called in after visiting the the natural history museum I must say this was a gem of a find, Great service, friendly family atmosphere, food is as good as it gets. I have eaten in a lot of Italian restaurants and this one is up there.

The service was more than up to par and the staff were very pleasant. The dishes are all very attractive. The truffle pasta was very good and refined. The tiramisu was very disappointing, bland

They have desserts, hot chocolate. Nice place. Cozy interrior. Nice place to eat after the Natural history museum

6-27-19 Excellent! Authentic, comfortable and cozy. Granted my party of three went on a Tuesday afternoon at 1pm, only a few people in there at that time. Ask for the LUNCH menus at this hour--we were given the dinner menus at a higher price, but we then asked for the lunch menus. We ranged from chicken parm sandwich, to a full shrimp and rice, etc plate to the "small plates" 3/$15. The small plates by three--good and nicely presented, topped with fresh basil spring--EXCEPT, the roasted red peppers were from a jar, as were the artichoke hearts. Drizzeled some not so quality evoo and they were really just ok, but plenty filling. The bread was excellent. Our waiter, Jose was excellent. Friendly and attentive. Overall a very good meal at a reasonable cost for Manhattan. $113., including tip for three meals and three glasses of wine. Worth the money for sure. Authentic, comfortable and cozy. the food was good, however, i'm almost positive that they forgot to serve our entreés, since we were waiting for around 20 minutes with no food on the table after having our appetizers. when pointing this out, the server got defensive towards us. i honestly did not appreciate this and it rubbed me the wrong way, since i don't think it was crazy for us to ask about our food after we saw tables that were sat after us having their main dishes served and we had been sitting at an empty table for a considerable amount of time. the pasta was good, it was just a shame that the service overshadowed it.

After a disappointing lunch at French luxury cafe @ EastSide we were ready for a low-risk dinner choice. We were well received here. Decent honest food with competent staff. No surprise here. Just an unpretentious solid dinner experience.

My daughter picked out this restaurant and I was disappointed. It should have been good but the food was average. Let's start with the bread. It was terrible... not worth eating. I ordered lobster ravioli. I expect the lobster in the ravioli, I got cheese ravioli with some lobster chunks on the side. The ravioli didn't taste homemade to me. It could have been frozen. The sauce was good. The salad was ok. Chunks of beets were too big. It was underwhelming. The waiter left something ringing in the room. All the diners were talking about going to shut off the noise because it lasted so long. Wait staff did not look me in the eyes to talk with me. They focused on my daughter. It was annoying. Not happy with my experience at this restaurant... especially knowing there is a much better Italian restaurant, Salumeria Rosi, a short walk away.

Pappardella is outstanding. The atmosphere, decor, the service and especially the food. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Reservations strongly encouraged as the restaurant is not big. The authentic decor was wonderful, the service was amazing and the food was timely and beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Just the right portions. The have a mind-blowing gluten-free menu that had a wide range of options...and was delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant. We walked to the Beacon Theatre after dinner and it was an easy couple of blocks.

My husband and I had a reservation this evening and they preceded to seat us in an outdoor area that wreaked of cat urine. I approached the waitress letting her know of the odor and she agreed with us. We then approached the manager/owner letting him know and he simply told us either we can sit there or he cannot honor our reservation. How does a restaurant seat people in an area where the smell is so awful! He was unapologetic that he knowingly booked a reservation that was unsuitable for dining!! How rude! They will NEVER see me or anyone who I know EVER!

There is pleasant outdoor seating where you can watch the world go by. Many people walking their dogs. Lots of young families. Older people with walkers and canes getting their exercise. There is an interesting flea market on Sundays just a block or two further up Columbus Ave. in a school yard. I had pepperoni pizza, which was some of the best. My granddaughter had a more traditional breakfast of French toast. Food is good. Prices are moderate.

This was a perfect spot and we had a fantastic meal service was good not great a bit slow they never poured our wine and had to ask for water. We brought our own bottle corkage was a bit more than their website states but fair for NYC. Food was excellent not the hottest but we were hungry did not want to send meal back. We talked to the owner for a bit super nice people. Will go back again.

Corner restaurant next to the natural history museum and central park in NYC. We ordered pizza that was sensational. Quiet environment Efficient Care High values like everything else in New York. I recommend.

Clueless waiters who forget, forget and forget are ruining this restaurant. Train them. Pay them. Demand some actual standards, but get your act together Pappardella. It's as if there's no one in charge, no manager. No host. Nothing. So sad. Long waits for even the appearance of a waiter. No bread offered on the table, which is a sin in a Tuscan restaurant. Our waiter tonight "forget" our wine, twice. While the kitchen is generally good, tonight the Tuna Steak was dry and overcooked, totally unacceptable. We had guests from overseas and the pathetic service was simply an embarassment.

Tired of walking on a Sunday afternoon, we walked into Pappardella, and were glad we did. Fast, friendly service. Nice brunch menu. My salmon eggs benedict were perfect. Nice wine list.

A cramped eatery with tables too close together (where you feel your rump is in the neighbor's plate when you get up to exit). We could not have been more disappointed in their supposed brick oven pizza! It is a TINY flat almost commercial Naan style/size flatbread looking tasteless pizza. Not one thing special about it and NOTHING to warrant the price! We also had the Caesar salad which had an overwhelming FISHY taste to it! Perhaps anchovy paste but very off tasting and NOTHING you would likely enjoy! Tripadvisor has rarely steered us wrong but we have NO idea how this place has gotten so many good reviews. The good reviews in no way were what we experienced. In NYC, there are far better places to choose to spend your hard earned money!! We would not recommend.

My grandson, Chet and I had a great time at the American Museum of Natural History and were looking to catch lunch. He quickly looked up restaurants in the area, looked at menus and fortunately for us picked Pappardella. We ordered a Cheese board, Garlic bread, a Margerita Burrata Pizza, a Pappardella Cobb Salad, lemonade and an Americano. My grandson ordered gnocchi but they weren't ready yet so he switched to the pizza. Everything was very delicious, made fresh and with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. The service was excellent. Thank you Jose and his helper! There are wonderful photos of Italy on the wall and a beautiful tin ceiling. Chet said, "I wish I could write a review because I really love this place. I loved the food, the way the place looks and the servers are so nice! I'd like to come back here." I said I would include his comments in my review. I, too, would like to eat here again and will.

pan fried buratta 9/10 Crisp on the outside, fresh and gooey cheese on the inside. Coated in rich tomato sauce pappardelle funghi e tartufo 9.9/10 Various kinds of mushrooms and creamy truffle sauce with perfectly al dente pappardelle Tiramisu 8/10 Rich in flavor but light in texture. Chocolate chips throw off the texture.

Fun to be there - it's a local favorite, and ours too! Real menu - real Italian food. Lots to choose from and they are nice enough to make adjustments! Not pretentious - it'll be on your "go to again" list!

Pappardelle was our restaurant of choice for our last evening meal in New York and we weren't disappointed. There's an extensive menu of Italian dishes. I had pappardelle al fungi which was served in a huge portion and was delicious. We also tried the cocktails which were good. The restaurant was busy and seemed to be frequented mostly by local families, always a good sign for a restaurant!

This restaurant comes highly recommended and the packed tables on our arrival for dinner at 7 pm justified our advance booking. We were headed for the Comedy Cellar at 9.30 pm so time was not on our side. The waiters were great fun and attentive to our every need. The menu was extensive and made choice difficult! I had the Grilled Asparagus to begin and Agnello Alla Griglia to follow - or Grilled Rack of Grass Fed Australian Lamb, with caramelised cipollini onions and creamy parmesan polenta. Delicious! And Marylees was charming too!!

Really nice place with great staff and a good ambience. Food, drinks, wine -everything was excellent! Recommehighlyhighhighly!

Great traditional Italian in a beautiful setting staff and cuisine both excellent and the hostess made us feel like regulars

After two visits I can heartily recommend this restaurant! As I am celiak it was a tremendous boon to be given a separate menu with only gluten free alternatives, including bread, pizzas, pastas and more. The food was also of excellent quality in ingredients as well as preparation!

We had an excellent experience with the food and service. We had no reservation on a Tuesday night but were accommodated very well.

We had dinner here on a Friday night while in NYC to visit my brother. We sat inside at a table near the bar and there was a large party next to us, so it was very noisy. However the food was really good and the portions ample without being ridiculous. They have a nice wine list and while we were too full for dessert, the choices sounded wonderful. Would recommend for a good Italian dinner on the UWS.

Our first night ever in NYC and this was where we had dinner. Spaghetti with tomato sauce, spaghetti with meatballs and asparagus. It was all so delicious and felt very authentic. Highly recommend!

On the run the whole day on a cup of yogurt, then getting caught in the rain on the way to a concert. I have walked up and down Columbus Avenue countless times without as much as noticing this place. But when you’re in dire need… I sat down in the bar and got a helluva Gavi from Piedmont and a cheese plate. Plain and simple, no frills. But the Gorgonzola from Piedmont was soft, strong and pungent as was the semi-soft Taleggio from Val D’Aosta. I like cheese that sparks fireworks in my brain. Douse it with a good wine and do it all over again. Couldn't dream up a better hideout from the rain.

The food is really amazing and the people are very gentle! Very cozy place! A real Taverna Italiana'! One of our favourite place in town!

Pappardella is a very friendly place, wonderful waiter took good care of the children at the table with very attentive service. Food very good if simple - we did salads and pastas. Everyone had a good meal. Not noisy. Definitely would return.

This is a great place for a date or a family dinner. The ambiance here is lovely and the food is delicious! I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

We enjoyed a good dinner, pasta and pizza, good Italian wine, and very good location, calm ambient and kids are welcome . Excellent attention and it was always full.

we were a party of 5 couples meeting for dinner on a Monday night in January. The table was waiting for us and we were seated promptly. The service was spot on perfect. Each couple shared a salad which they plated for us individually. The salads were delicious and so fresh. We each ordered and array of dishes, fish, pizza, gnocchi, and chicken. Everything was scrumptious. The wait staff are hardworking and aim to please. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice ambiance. I highly recommend Pappardella. If you are looking for a lovely evening with great food look no further!! I hope you enjoy.

Parpadelle offers two distinct atmospheres: you can choose to sit inside, where the space is warm and romantic, or outside to enjoy some people-watching. The menu is quite extensive. We decided to share the Carpaccio di Manzo, which was good, though not extraordinary. However, the pastas were outstanding: the Carbonara and a Parpadelle with mushrooms and truffle (though it didn’t have much truffle flavor) were both delicious. Highly recommended for a visit with a partner or family. The overall atmosphere is pleasant and inviting.

Great margarita in the hot weather and prosciutto with melon as a starter were perfect together. Veal parm and lobster ravioli with some extra lobster meat for our main courses were piping hot and delicious as always! Waitress was gracious and attentive. One of our favorites on the Upper West Side.

We were looking for a restaurant close to the hotel for our evening meal - a place to suit all six of us. We settled on Pappardella. It was 8.00 on a Thursday evening, but we booked just in case. The menu was on the expensive side and not a great range of choice. There were no starters that anyone fancied, so we went straight for the mains. Three of us had pizzas and the other three pasta dishes. The portions were fine, the pizzas smaller than expected, but al. Was very tasty and we all enjoyed our choices very much. We passed on desserts and took our leave. If you want somewhere that has good food, nice atmosphere, this is well worth a visit.

We stopped for a nightcap on a Friday and the place was lively and the aromas made us want to eat again even though we just left a great steakhouse. So…we came back the following night and had a wonderful experience. I had the Casio e Pepe - simply divine. My husband has the linguine and clam sauce - also marvelous. What a find - friendly welcoming service paired with excellent food in a warm cozy atmosphere.

Forget Thyme & Tonic 8 blocks up Columbus: this Italian restaurant has a full gluten-free menu with loads of appetizers, salads, pastas and desserts that are gluten-free. My wife and I started with the Mozzarella Caprese ($14), and the tomato was tasteful! My wife (not allergic to Gluten) loved her Pollo Milanese, and I loved my gluten-free Funghi e tartufo ($27): wild mushroom ragu, white wine, truffle cream, roasted garlic & basil. The $15 glass of Vermentino was fine. We will definitely be back!

Christmas decorations that look 4 years old and a fire hazard. Food dreadful. Service decent. Beer was ok. Not an eatery really.

My wife and I just got married in New York last week and had our rehearsal dinner at Pappardella--one of our local favorites for some time. It was an amazing experience that rivaled the wedding itself! From the time we started planning in December, Marion treated us with such care and attention that we never doubted it would go smoothly. Her singular goal, as she told us a hundred times, was to make our night perfect. The team accommodated our every request, whether that meant getting creative with the seating arrangements to fit more people or ordering a few extra plates so that we could serve some of our favorite dishes family style. They even invited us in for a tasting ahead of time to make sure we loved everything on our menu. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect--cozy and intimate, but still big enough to fit all 80 of us. The service was amazing--I'm pretty sure they had their entire wait staff working that night, attending to every detail from keeping wine glasses full to turning down the music for each speech. And of course, the food was unbelievable (as you'd expect from this neighborhood favorite). It was a silly amount of food--passed hors d'oeuvres and pizza, a salad course, a family style hot appetizer course, a family style pasta course, and entrees and desserts ordered tableside. At least a dozen people told us over the course of the weekend that it was the best meal they'd ever eaten at a wedding event, and a several counted it among the best dining experiences of their lives. We surely agree with them. Honestly, words can't do justice to our dinner here. It was a very special night to us, and the Pappardella team made sure it lived up to its billing. We can't thank you enough!

Me and my family arrived in this restaurant thinking it was a good example of an italian family restaurant with lovely italian food. We were in for a big surprise. The pizza the kids got you get better in the supermarket. My gnocchi in tomatiosauce were overcooked and the sauce was bitter. My wife had the vongole with few shells and no sauce and undercooked pasta. She got sick during the night. It was indeed awkward sitting there and pretend it was good. We didn't want to complain much because of the kids. We rushed out as fast as we could. On our way to the Hotel we discussed how it was possible for newyorkers to accept this bad cooking. My only theory is that owner has lost all pride in cooking (he may have had) and runs the shop as a moneymachine.

my husband is gluten-free and I am not so this place seemed to work for both of us, as they have a whole gf menu! his gf chicken parm was perfect! the portion was a little on the small side but adequate. the gf pasta and sauce were superb! the pasta came out a little cold and they exchanged it for some piping hot and it was A+. I had a basic margarita pizza and the quality and flavor were excellent. we both LOVED the flourless choc cake with hazelnut gelato. our server was fine and the manager (co-owner?) came over to greet us. it was my birthday and the waitress sang to me. very convenient to AMNH. I don't think you can do better if you have gf folks who want something other than the standard gf offerings.

Pappardella has been in business for many years and there is no doubt that the reason they are still operating in a city where so many family businesses have closed up, is that their food, service and atmosphere is exceptional! When we arrived for our 6:45 Friday night dinner reservation, every table was occupied and there were guests waiting to be seated. We were told, there would be a brief wait and that the table they had planned for us, would be available soon and I’m glad we were patient. A few minutes later our table was ready and we were seated in a quiet section where we could hear each other over our delicious dinner. I’m not going to dissect what we ate, except to say that our salads, hot appetizers and main courses were all delicious. If you’d like to experience great Italian cuisine without going to Italy, make a reservation at Pappardella and savor the experience!

My wife and I visited New York recently and were looking for a good Italian restaurant. We selected Pappardella based on TripAdvisor reviews and its close proximity to the New York Historical Society Museum which we were visiting. Located just a short (~8 min) walk away from the museum at the corner of 75th and Columbus Pappardella is a relatively small restaurant with a very nice ambience. The staff were friendly and helpful; service was prompt. The menu offered a wide variety of options and my wife selected the lobster ravioli while I opted for the Pappardelle Funghi E Tartufo. Both dishes were excellent, as were the teramisu and canolis we had for desert. In short, we heartily concur with the good ratings given to Pappardella!

The welcome and attention to our early arrival was on the money. The restaurant had a pleasant, buzzing atmosphere and the service was as it should be. The food was fine and well presented. We found it a little pricey-but hey!--that's New York in 2019.

The finest Italian food I've had in a very long time. Staff were very friendly & the service was very courteous & efficient. The food was outstanding. We had Tagliatelle Spinachi & Bolognese & both were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant based on my visit & will visit again.

Been to many pizza places in my day and with my wife now gluten-free we've struggled to find a good one. We got the prosciutto and arugula pizza (gluten-free) and it was probably the best I've ever had (gluten-free or not!). The crust was great and chewy, but not too chewy. The cheese and pizza sauce were outstanding. This place has tons of GF options which is nice. Additionally the prices are reasonable. My wife and I shared an appetizer of gluten-free garlic bread and split the GF pizza and we had left overs. For less than $30 it's hard to beat that in NYC

Was going to see a concert at The Beacon Theatre. I was looking for a restaurant that was nearby. What I great choice... if I say so myself. The area is full of bistros and restaurants but Pappardella has been there from the 80’s. It has to be good then. My daughter is gluten free and they have a gf menu. She was in heaven because they had gf bread. Menu also had over 8 gf pasta entrees. She picked one of them and loved it. I had the Salmon Raspighi.. which was very fresh and tasty. Extensive wine list .. pricey Excellent service by Mari and JC I look forward to returning. There

We were exploring the area as tourists and after a quick search of Italian restaurants in the Columbus Avenue area, decided to try Pappardella out. Very authentic neighborhood place, the staff and service was very welcoming and attentive when needed. I had the lobster ravioli, and husband had the chicken parmesan. Both of us really enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere, and am glad we tried them out!

We had a great meal and the restaurant had great atmosphere. It wasn't so loud that we couldn't talk. Hubby had the pappardelle fungi which had a great rich sauce. I had the ravioli which was light and flavorful. Better than the food we has in Little Italy.

I really liked the staff here and I would have loved to have give 4 stars, but the food was just too ordinary and the pace of service was not what New Yorkers expect. The outdoor seating area is nice. The indoor area is somewhat dated. The bathrooms could be enhanced for sure. A lot of room for improvement.

We came here as a special treat while on holiday from New Zealand. The antipasto platter was delicious (although I skipped what I believe was raw veale- just a personal preference.) I ordered a beautiful shellfish dish on spaghetti and my partner ordered sausage on ravioli- excuse my ignorance but I don't know the Italian names. We were impressed with the flavour and quality of ingredients. Everything was perfectly cooked. Delightful Italian experience in NY.

Went here on recommendation of a friend who lives near by. There was a 40 minute wait. After being seated outside the lovely hostess moved us inside. Nice. The food and wine were good A little more than average but none the less I shall return.

Excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ GLUTEN FREE The service was friendly and fast The food arrived quickly and was very delicious! 5 stars everything. The first impression was not very good because it has a slightly worn facade. But everything changes when you enter and eat! I would return whenever I visit NY

Popped in for lunch after the Museum of Natural History, didn't expect much, but we were pleasantly surprised. Great service, fantastic pizza and pasta. Our waiter didn't speak a word of English, but we made it work. :-)

We have just spent a week staying just around the corner from Pappardella and had lunch there three times with friends and family who were visiting us. We had great food, great service and good times. We ate there twice last year and had the same experience. It is a really good neighbourhood Italian restaurant and the food is very good. We have travelled in Italy many times and the food is very authentic.

Fantastic last minute visit with the family. The restaurant was very business on this Sunday evening, but they managed to squeeze us in with minimal wait time. The family had a mixture of pizza and pasta and every dish was fantastic. Simply the best carbonara I have ever had. Service was exceptional and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Would definitely return

We had tickets to show at the Beacon and picked this restaurant after looking at the menu online. It was the start to an incredible night. We had a grest waitress - Angelica. She made great recommendations. I had the Veal Marsala and my husband had the pizza with prosciutto. We finished with tiramisu. The best we ever had. It was home made with chocolate chips. The restaurant was decorated very pretty for Christmas and teally enjoyed our experience. We will be back!

We had 3 different glutenfree pizza, and they were just great. Really great taste. Bun was made of corn. Friendy staff was also very helpfull. They had an entire glutenfree menu to those from.

Excellent friendly service in a warm atmosphere. It is rare to find such a wide selection of gluten free options. Pappardella's is a perfect example of true Italian dining that incorporates attention to fresh ingredients and the understanding that a meal is an event to be cherished. I thought we had to travel to Italy again to have this experience, but it can be found on Columbus Ave in NYC.

I stopped in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was empty. I was a little hesitant to stay, but I am glad I did. I ordered the gnocchi with basil pesto sauce and the broccoli rabe with garlic. Both items were delicious! I am going to try to recreate the gnocchi dish at home. The waiter was helpful. The bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil was tasty, and by the time I left the restaurant, it was about half full, which made me feel better about my choice.

Over salty and sweet pizza ! Really really average pasta. Would never order from there again/I DON’T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

I’ve eaten here several times in the past few years. It signals comfort to me. The decor is warm and inviting. The food is always good and plentiful. The staff is courteous, but efficient and knowledgeable. The wine list compliments the food. It seems like a neighborhood place with everyone here from families to seniors. I’m from out of town, but it always makes me happy.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed. Always a good sign. But our waiter ignored us. He finally acknowledged us and asked if we wanted bottled or tap water. 20 minutes later, I had to ask him if we could order. I requested the prosciutto with goat cheese and fig. I only received the prosciutto on a plate. (?) My husband ordered a goat cheese and beet salad with arugula—amazingly delicious! Then he ordered a pizza—which was good, but my kale salad with goat cheese and grilled shrimp was better—an excellent choice. Granted, the restaurant was busy, but our waiter never came to check on us—we had to ask a bus person for the check—and another waiter delivered it. This seems like a good place, and we had a mediocre waiter...but there are so many other restaurants to try...

We loved the place. After enjoying the visit to the American Museum of Natural History, it is very quick to get there. With an authentic taste of Italian food: Marguerite pizza, chicken parmesan and for dessert a cappuccino coffee and a tiramisu. All delicious

Absolutely fabulous food and hospitality. A must to visit this restaurant which is just around the corner of the museum of national history
Dinner at pappardella
As an ex New Yorker living in the great culinary metropolis of Houston Texas this kind of Italian food like what I had growing up in queens is what I miss.
