We loved Pardon My French ! Staff is friendly and cool! Drinks are also amazing ! It’s a cozy place to go on dates !

Lovely French restaurant on the Lower East Side - don't miss the outdoor patio!

By tavg |

A friend organized a celebratory dinner at Pardon My French and we had a great experience. We sat outside in the wonderful patio (in the back, don't miss it!), the food was delicious, lots of wines and beers (and other beverages) to choose from. Service was very friendly.

A perfect evening!

By prekteacher1214 |

We had an amazing dinner sitting outside in the garden area! Our evening began with tequila drinks, all well prepared and generous with the liquor. The weather was perfect so that certainly enhanced our experience. I had the whole Bronzino, a special for the night, and it was probably one of the best fish dishes I have had. The fish was perfectly prepared and seasoned. My other guests had the salmon and mussels which were equally enjoyed. The calamari and bursts salad were excellent choices for shared appetizers and we concluded our meal with a savory apple tart. The waiter was attentive and we never felt rushed. In fact, we were there for almost four hours! This restaurant is really a gem!

excellent croque madame and the bloody marys flowed like the Hudson river

By David S |

My wife and I happened across this place while we were browsing the lower East side of New York. The offer of bottomless bloody marys and mimosas was to enticing to pass up. When we entered the room, we were quickly met by a cheerful staffer, who sat us at the bar where we could also dine. The place was packed and the secret patio outback was filled with people revelling in the sun. The atmosphere inside was loud and fun, we knew we were in for a good time. Fashionistas were omnipresent and the music catered to the room. I opted for good traditional french food and highly recommend the croque madame. Our waiter was a seasoned Parisan, who obliged us by writing down hot spots that we might enjoy later in the day when we flew to Paris. My wife went with the eggs Benedict that she has mentioned many times since that she really enjoyed. We both washed all the food down with multiple drinks and left Pardon my French, buzzed and ready to fly to Paris. Great spot, great staff, great food. Bien!

Quiet midweek dinner

By nininnineye |

We had a very enjoyable time here. The food was delicious - French small plates and unique cocktails. The waitstaff was helpful and friendly. The atmosphere on a Wednesday night was pretty sparse, but it suit us great since we were able to sit there for awhile to chat.

East village French bistro

By Dogra11 |

Great spot with a backyard and excellent but simple food menu. Must try dishes are Brussel Sprouts, Escartefigu salad, Steak Tartare and the Burger. Good wine list and will recommend bottle if you are two and up. Will swing by soon and has a great vibe with house music -

Lovely East Village Garden Restaurant

By annmelissa |

A friend and I met here for a late supper. The wine list was quite nice. I enjoyed a Pinot Noir as did my friend the Malbec. There was a small imbalance in the Abel as often happens in cafes, and eventually a gentleman came to correct this. When he discovered that my friend had already torn up part of her Pardon My French placemat to repair the wobble he smiled graciously and replaced hers with a fresh one. It was one of those charming moments that only occurs with well run restaurants. I had the mussels and I was not entirely pleased. I thought that were a little small and lacked the garlic and herbs I had been expecting. However the garden itself is quite charming and the wait staff was impeccable.

Unlimited boozy brunch!

By FrecklesMcghee |

We visited in November last year and keep meaning to write a review as it was brilliant. We had the unlimited bloody mary/mimosa brunch. The food was great, I would recommend the Croque Madame and they were generous with the jugs of mimosas. The price was really reasonable for New York, I think it was about $35 all in. The atmosphere was really relaxed and the music was really good. Service was great, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I'd definitely recommend this place for brunch and will be going back next time I'm in New York.

Nice ambiance, poor service

By Renato L |

While we were still eating, staff constantly came over asking if we were done and removing plates and glasses. Their hands were already on the plates before we could even respond, making us feel unnecessarily rushed. We didn’t complain as we didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere for our son’s birthday (and even when we noted the occasion, the staff didn’t even acknowledge it.) Overall, it really wasn’t their French they should ask Pardon for.

Sunday brunch is a treat

By John D |

Definitely recommend this place for a Sunday morning treat. Breakfast/brunch dishes washed down with bottomless Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Try the Tunisian Eggs.

Very reliable atmospheric French restaurant with garden

By Ngreig |

For some reason this French bistro in East Village has become our go to place for dinner on really hot summer days . Formerly known as Casimir , they have renovated ( a little) , updated menu and hired a new chef. If food was decent before now it is very good . I have the fish of the day every time I come and it is always fresh and delicious . Last visit was salmon on bed of lentils with mustard sauce . Their steak frites and moules mariniere are excellent . Wine list is rather limited - owner please note !! but at least they have Sancerre by bottle and by glass as well as decent tasting Bordeaux ( though I have never heard of any of the chateaus.) Very French with mostly French waiters ( though one sweet New Zealand waitress on last two visits) . Nice garden . Highly recommend .

Great night!

By Stefan M |

We had an amazing time here. Nice little trendy spot in the heart of East Village. Low light, candle light, cool/chill ambience. Loungy deep house playing in the background. You can really feel the french euro vibe...I love it. Food was incredible, from the meat to the fish. I absolutely loved the beef tartare appetizer. The cocktails are also delicious. Some very interesting ways of mixing many different liquors. Great date spot. Your girl will appreciate you bringing her here. :) Would definitely go again!

Very good

Amazing brunch!

By Melissa M |

My family and I had an amazing brunch outside at Pardon my French. Food was delicious - eggs Benedict as well as croquet monsieur with bottomless mimosas! Our server, Brian, was attentive and courteous! Definitely a hidden gem in NYC!!

Good food and service

By Daniel L |

I came here with a group of friends for dinner on a Saturday. I'd recommend making reservations in advance. The table setting is somewhat small but intimate. I ordered the pork belly appetizer and duck breast entree. Both were cooked just right and very flavorful. Service was attentive and friendly. I've heard good things about their weekend brunch offerings, so I will be sure to check that out some time as well. Would recommend!

Exquisite!

By LilyWanderingGypsy |

This place was absolutely magical! We had a large party and the accommodated our every wish. Appetizers were absolutely delicious as was the New York Strip Steak for my entree. I also highly recommend the cocktails, they were all so perfect!

is this St Tropez in the East Village, is everyone here Alain Delon or Brigitte Bardot well revised for the millenia

By PascalPicks |

A French Riviera Bistro in the south of France ? oh Pardon my French ...in the East Village.. It is filled with youth champagne cigarettes sidewalk and "mini juppes a la Bardot! Well the young and French waiters are right out of the nouvelle vague generation , a mix of Alain Delon with the Bad Boy tatoos look of Belmondo , so You have guessed it , the scenery is almost everything here but make no mistake the Bistro fares under the skilled hands of Chef Ghuilerme Barreto will make your eyes wander back from the scenery and delight your palate . Try his 65 degrees egg crab separation , It is cooked to perfection and is a refreshing egg dish for Brunch, the mussles are a favorite and the specials poisson are exquisitely prepared Mideterraneen style. Let the Champagne flow and jin the youth you'll fit right in trust me... Pascalpicks

Great tapas and plates

By Vanessa A |

Loved this little place, very cozy and dim lighting so make sure you bring your reading glasses! The list of carefully crafted cocktails are really yummy and the attention of the staff was incredible. Always refilling your glass, taking your plates away, hung up your jacket as the place is a little small to maneuver in the winter with heavy coats. We ordered the pork belly in a smashed carrot puree - OMG! Totally worth it. We also ordered the salad special with burata, 18 yr (yes, you read this right) Parmesan and like a 24 yr aged prosciutto (or some ridiculous aging number) which was crack to my taste buds. For entrees we had the Oxtail (fall off the bone and into your mouth) which was fantastic and my husband's strip steak was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) which he really appreciated. You might as well have a cappuccino once you're done - totally worth it. We'll be coming back for their bottomless brunch on the weekends!

We were very impressed

By daddioSeattle |

Group of six - graduation dinner - sat in back patio which was charming but interior also very cool - dark but hip lighting with great French club music at perfect low volume - we tried a lot of things and every item we ordered was excellent - house cocktails delicious - wait staff was good - owner/manager Anton was very impressive and (rare for French?) quickly realized my wife was the sommelier/food industry vet and dealt directly and respectfully with her - we had a great dinner - have eaten all over the world and would happily go back to this restaurant!

Girls Brunch w/ the PMF Boyz

By Cheryl A |

Omg! This place was amazing! Cute waiters with amazing personalities and the food is to die for! We ordered the waffles, pancakes, and salmon Benedict with the bottomless mimosas and they were all great. The decor is something to be seen as well! Make reservations on a Sunday afternoon, you won’t regret it!

I wish I could give zero stars

By Umang S |

Worst Experience Ever! Went there for a Sunday brunch. Made a reservation but still had to wait for an hour! Took the drinks+food option and as the drinks came, the server poured and took the pitcher away. We had to ask again and again to refill our glasses. The food was terrible. French Toast was not available so they offered Steak Sandwich instead. The sandwich was cold and unappetizing. Felt like I was biting through ice. I asked the server if I could order something else from the brunch menu instead and he said sure. I ordered an omelette because there were not many options available. The omelette was the same, terribly cold and tasteless. When the check came, I was shocked to see the omelette on there and that too for $25! I will never ever go there again even for a snack let alone a Sunday afternoon. Terrible ambiance and rude servers with little to no options. Most of the reviews here are paid or by the food bloggers who get free meals.

Good Food!!!

By Roz |

I was there for a date, and the ambience was only OK while the food was very very good. I had first the calamari and where fabulous, then the duck that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Wine also was a good choice, is not cheap but also is not expensive, service is friendly and the manager was very aware of what is going on. At the very entrance they have a very Chic bar where you can hang out with friends and have a very good selection of alcoholic beverages. I recommend that if you go, take your time to enjoy the food, the bread and even the butter. Ask for the fries and have a lovely time.

Delicious!

By tahirina k |

This restaurant has some super delicious food and drinks! I recommend trying the bone marrow, it is succulent beyond belief. We had a few drinks and those were delicious as well. I give it a 4 instead of 5 because the service was sub-par.

Unique Experience

By Leona B |

What a neat experience of French ambiance and simple French food. My husband loved the bone marrow as an appetizer. The mussels were sweet and tender but seasoning could have been better. Our waiter was a doll and very helpful. This was a enjoyable time to chat with family.

SUNDAY BRUNCH

By dmc79 |

Very nice ambient, music and people. Worth the experience. The plates are basics, but very well done!!!

Bottomless brunch? Um HELL YESS

By Lara G |

I was so glad this place did not disappoint after recommending it for a close friends birthday brunch. It is a great deal for brunch since it is one price for both an entree and bottomless mimosas. AND BOY did the staff do great job keeping the pitchers of mimosas coming for the full 2 hours, we were never left without a drink. The food was also fantastic, between the group we probably all ordered something different and were all happy with our meals :)

A French Delight

By MissMem |

This neighborhood restaurant has some of everything.....outdoor dining, good food, personable waiters and an easy welcoming atmosphere. We arrived early in the evening and the place filled up quickly. We enjoyed our meal and will certainly return.

Wonderful addition to the East Village

By Mike594 |

It's always tough to set up a restaurant or bar in the trendy East Village. The variety and quality is quite amazing. PMF has managed to do this with an excellent offering. The space is pretty large (by NY standards) and they have a great communal table at the front with lovely "subway" tiles instead of the usual wood. The space at the back has plenty of tables - as is usual in this part of the world, they are too close together and when we first went on a Friday night we actually had to ask to be moved as we could not hear ourselves think! The maitre d' was very charming and took us to a small table in the bar, which was perfect. This is on the left hand side as you walk in and we had a couple of delicious cocktails there. Apparently it only gets busy after 10pm, which is good to know. We went back the following Tuesday and had a much quieter but just as enjoyable evening. Between the two visits we tried the oxtail, bone marrow, steak, sea bass and a few other top quality dishes. We will be back!

Best french restaurant in New York

By Muriel V |

One of the best french restaurant in Manhattan, the meat is very testy , the dessers is great like in France , my favorite so far

Food was ok ... but VERY OVERPRICED

By JetSetJessa |

Visited pardon my French for a quick drink and bite . The drink was good until a found a hair in it . Beyond disgusting . Had the chicken entree - I found it very good but the price was ridiculous . Should have been like $19 but it was $28 . What a joke . The place is in my neighborhood so I wanted to try it ..probably won't be back .

Disappointing - incorrect charges

By LeoNYtravel |

Food was good but was charged for someone else’s bill ($125) and have yet to get reimbursed after several emails. Was told it would be done and it’s one month later. How can you trust a place that behaves this way? I’ll never go back here.

Nice ambience........

By MinnieG53 |

This restaurant had so much potential, but the service we had was way below par compared to most we experienced in Manhattan. Waiter was very slow and took 20 minutes to get our first drinks and the part of restaurant he was looking after was not busy. We had already had to ask for him to come and take our order. Food was mediocre and steak had to be sent back has was ordered medium and came out very rare. We are not particularly fussy dinners either. With the thousands of restaurants to choose from in Manhattan wouldn't visit Pardon My French again.

Nice and cozy but terrible service

By Michail Y |

Cozy interior with bar-like table and garden in the back. Food is ok but Brussel sprouts are delicious. The main issue relates to service or to be more accurate to absence of it. Dirty plates are NOT being removed at all, waiter never showed up again to find out if everything was at least alright or to take an additional order. When we were eventually able to get him - he forgot to serve a half of what we've ordered. I understand this can happen on a busy night but that relates to the time when restaurant was dead and there were more waiters than customers. Eventually manager came over and tried to do something (he gave us 2 free glasses of wine). To say the truth - if service will improve then I'll come back.

Tres Magnifique

By Cathy_OConnor |

We stumbled across this amazing restaurant whilst walking through the East Village. We are very glad we did. Some of the best food I have eaten in a very long time. An amazing wine list and some desserts to die for. The atmosphere and staff are amazing, helpful and very sweet. I will be returning on my next visit to NYC.

Really good cocktails, very nice vibe

By dcolins |

This si a narrow cocktail bar connected to a French restaurant (the menu looked great). We only tried the cocktail bar, repeatedly. There is a kind of high table with stools looking out onto the street, a constantly changing, interesting vista! You can also sit at the bar or at the couple of tables at the back if you're feeling like being incognito or intimate. The staff are friendly and chatty, and let us try one liquour we hadn't heard of. Lovely cocktails

French tapas and fine mixology drinks

By marylovelltx |

A small place in the LES where there are lots of creative dining / drink options. Specialty drinks are a highlight. Dining options are creative and French - inspired: seared scallops and the escargot along with charcuterie among our favorites

Affordable French: Who Knew?

By John R |

We stumbled across this little wonder in Alphabet City quite by accident. I had not visited a French restaurant in a long time since they always seem to be stiff and overpriced. At a glance, this place, with its exposed brick walls and dark but well lit, interior seemed welcoming and bit more bohemian than most French restaurants. I assumed that was in keeping with the neighborhood. It proved to be not only welcoming and comfortable, but the food was spectacular beyond my wildest expectations. Valentin, who was actually French, I believe, (or at least had French accent) greeted us enthusiastically and seated us immediately. The wine list was exclusively French, of course, and it even included an affordable bottle of Gevrey Chambertin, which we promptly ordered. The menu is not huge, but covers all the bases. I ordered a sirloin with a blue cheese crust. It was perhaps the most tender, flavorful meat dish I have ever eaten...and I have been to a lot of the most famous steak joints in the country. (NOTE: This is NOT a steak joint. That was the only beef on the menu, as far as I can remember.) Bottom line: the service was informal but completely attentive (Valentin is great!!!). The environment is comfortable and ambiance inviting. And the food.... OMG... the FOOD was nothing short of spectacular and amazingly reasonable in its prices (my dish was $26, I believe). I almost hesitate to post this for fear this undiscovered gem will be overrun and their prices will skyrocket. However, Pardon My French deserves the recognition. It is a great little place and will hopefully remain just that.

Constant Craving

By Marcellas R |

This is my 3rd time at PMF. It's lovely. The gentleman who runs the door is amazing. He's good looking, greets you with a smile, remembers you and can even take your order. He's fun to watch as he's in constant motion greeting & seating customers, talking to the wait staff, getting drinks and even clearing tables. The mostly male staff is a real presence on the floor. You never feel like you can't immediately get whatever you need be it a drink, water or more sauce for your fries! And speaking of the fries no matter what you order, get a side of frites! They are the best in NY. I've had everything here from fish, to duck to my fave steak and it is always wonderful. It's become my go to restaurant to dine with a group of pals. It's super conducive to good food, strong drinks and great conversation.

Romantic restaurant with outstanding food

This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC!!!! We were transported to one of sensual, quaint little places we have been to in Paris! The Chefs creativity at this restaurant is beyond words. The owner is so hospitable and kind. The service is beyond belief.

BRUNCH

By bdedeaux |

Met up with a friend for Saturday brunch. I didn't know about this place but was not all that surprised that there was a line out the door to get in, its unlimited mimosa brunch and Saturday after all. We went straight in and sat at the bar which is first come first serve, plus only two of us so NBD. Food was great and drinks were plenty. Over all very nice place to grab brunch but if you have a group larger than 2 or you want to sit at a table I'd try to get a reservation. Would recommend stopping by.

Must have mussels

By Jeremy B |

Popped into here on a sultry Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. Got a bar spot on the corner with the windows open behind us and knew it would be good. Started with the grilled octopus and squid in a piquant (?) sauce (spicy tomato). Wow, fresh and so tasty. Next we had the mussels with bacon and porcini mushroom sauce. Ample serving for the two of us, crusty bread, loads of broth. Heaven. Finished with the green almond panna cotta. Creamy and rich with slivers of almonds and fresh cream. I long to revisit.

Very good food but never again

By aaw926 |

Cool trendy spot in the heart of the gentrifying East Village. Attractive venue. Very good food and surprisingly attentive service. Interesting carte de vin. Mais....it was so incredibly noisy in such close quarters that we couldn't hear the conversation from our friends across the table. That on top of the piped-in music. All of which reverberated off the tin ceiling from another era.

East Village meets French Chef....Great spot.

By NYC-TRAVEL-10001 |

Surprised that this little restaurant with casual tables and East Village coolness...had amazing food. Rich and interesting food, good wine, and kind and attentive service. Went for a business dinner and was a little worried it was not stuffy enough....but it wound up being very good. Only suggestion is to have lower music or have it spread out via multiple speakers. Our table was right under 1 of 2 speakers and we had a hard time having conversation. Would go again with friends.

Enjoyable brunch

This is such a buzzy and young restaurant. I highly recommend coming for brunch as the music is pumping and you feel your Saturday night continues onto the Sunday morning!

Decided to stop by Pardon My French last Sunday around 4pm, at first we were just going to have a drink by the bar and go elsewhere for dinner but then decided to stay. The bar here is as good as any for date night or a solo dinner, while the rear garden is one of the city’s most under-the-radar outdoor dining spaces modern riffs on French bistro classics. Very cute patio!! We were seated by the end of the bar and all waiters decided to stand around there to argue about who is staying after brunch. There was 3 or four servers standing there with a stack of cash ready to start counting and telling each other “Im not closing brunch” or “who will be on the floor?”. After what felt like a very long time someone was forced to “close brunch”. Seems like peace was restored so we asked if we could move to a table to have food (and also move away from where seems to be the waiters HQ). We were informed there was no food till 6pm when the kitchen reopens for dinner. Alright, another drink it is then! Finally 6pm comes around and we can order dinner…the anticipation was making me even hungrier. I guess not hungry enough to look passed the bland food. I had the confit duck and it was OK but nothing even near OMG THIS IS VERY DELICIOUS kinda duck. My friend had the burger and said was ok but come guys it’s a BURGER!! If you mess up a burger than we are in trouble right?! Many bars and restaurants on the East Village have familiar elements: model-like bartenders in possibly ripped jeans, waiters with stylish looks (some trying way to hard!), a drink list that features some kind of “exotic homemade” cocktail, I get it, you’re cool! PMF is exactly that, “cool”…maybe too cool to even pay attention to its customers or God forbid try harder with their food.

outstanding french fare

this is very good french fare. excellent wine list. good service. background music was too loud. it’s popular so make sure to book your table

Birthday Celebration

By wingling22 |

First off all, hands down one of the best french brunch spots that I've been to in so long. I dont remember our servers name short blond hair black glasses, but he was soo awesome!!!!. I hope that things get flowing with you and soul cycle chick (inside joke) Aside from that, I was tipsy on my third mimosa 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 the french toast was soooooo yummy the fries were crunchy and just right, and my friends and I had such an amazing time. Thank you PMF it was worth it.

Great brunch with bottomless mimosa

By OP-Critic |

Best deal in NYC! The food, atmosphere & staff are awesome! Our waiter Baltlazar was so friendly! Great service & fantastic food! The brunch deal with bottomless bloody Mary’s or mimosas is the best deal going. The menu for brunch is not extensive, but we all had really great meals. A definite must & we will be going back. I had the spinach & tomato omelet. The French toast was amazing & 2 of my friends had the steak sandwich which they said was awesome too!

Enjoyable brunch, but the music is far too loud and the food quite average

By Wahaca |

Loud music, slow service during brunch hours, disappointing vegan options. For some reason I was charged more for a vegan main even though my dish was a slab of cauliflower with pine nuts (low cost, when compared to a steak sandwich). The food was distinctly average. I won't be back in a rush. Agave is a much better brunch experience.

we went twice

We recommend this place to everybody...The food is awesome. The Beef tar tar was exceptional....Don't go if you are insecure because every waiter there is a 10

Great dining experience. Attentive waitstaff, cool ambience, yummy food and fair prices. This pick was a hit. The butternut squash soup, burrata and chicken under a brick were all delicious. The music mix was a bit eclectic but groovy.

Wonderful

By Courtney W |

Came here for brunch during Memorial Day weekend and the food was amazing. The waitress staff was friendly but a little slow to bring out glasses for the mimosas and the Bloody Mary pitchers would be warm after sitting in the sun for awhile. Other than that the food was amazing and a great find.

Great food, Lovely back garden

By FinnishFlower |

We really enjoyed our dinner at their lovely back garden - we had tartar steak, pork belly, mussels and the duck. All really tasty and perfectly cooked. Also the inside area seemed very inviting. All in all a charming place, only minus comes from the slightly long time it took to get our table ready and be seated.

Great food and ambience

By bfloxng69 |

Went here for brunch and had four of us at the bar for price-fixed menu (with mimosas). Server was very attentive and the food was fabulous. Great hidden NYC gem.

Great cocktail. Best duck !

By Jean-Yves Girard |

Went for dinner last Saturday. Cocktails are quite interesting and delicious. We tried the squid/calamari salad as well as the duck magret and tarte tatin. The food was really excellent. The magret was perfectly cooked. Rutabagas were so tender. Wine was okay for a French restaurant, I was expecting a more interesting wine list/selection. Overall it was a great experience!

New NYC Favourite

One of my favourite dining experiences in 2016. Food and service were excellent as were the cocktails. Loved the ambiance of the outdoor courtyard. Definitely keep on my list for when we return to NYC.

Sunday Brunch

By erinxs |

What a beautiful experience! Everything about the day was wonderful. The staff were fantastic and attentive, also adored how the men were dressed with braces! We sat outside in the garden, a quirky little gem with some fantastically weird decor. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent and the staff were excellent.
