Nice Italian-US Franchise

By miguelazp |

We decided to go after The MET visit with friends. The restauras has an amazing vibes. All the staff was super nice with us, specially our Chilean friend who works there. We ordered an eggplant fried, was extremely delicious and for me a shirmp pasta, and was amazing too. The meals arrived to our table in around 10-15 minutes and well served. For sure I’ll back when I’ll visit NYC and the amazing upper west side!

Good food, bustly atmosphere

By Emily B |

We were looking for a good family style Italian restaurant on a recent visit to NYC with our two boys (11 and 17). The food was good. We made reservations a few weeks prior to our visit but once we arrived at 8:45 we were told there was going to be an additional 15+ minute wait. Usually not a problem but there is no bar or place to sit. Once we were finally seated it took longer than expected to get our wine and we finally had to ask for bread after our appetizers arrived. I liked the casual/diner type atmosphere, but it was quite loud and bustly. My kids loved the meatballs and the rigatoni, The eggplant parm was slightly above average. In sum, there are some GREAT Italian places in NY and Carmine's is always a reliable option. We would not likely return.

Great heros

By erich s |

Went to parm on columbus. They won best sandwich in america for the meatball parm on Food Network. It was a very good sandwich. Good sesame bread, Fresh mozz., good tasting sauce and soft flavorful meatballs. I wasn't to crazy about the whole leafs of Basil in the sandwich. It can overwhelm the taste of the meatball. If you like the taste of basil you will love this sandwich. When I pulled them out you can taste the pork and beef mixed into the meatball. The veal in the ball was also good. Just really good comfort food. Very good Chicken parm too. If I'm in upper manhattan will stop in again. Waiter provided good service. food came quick and Mozz sticks were a good appetizer.

Very Yummy

By BellaFella82 |

Really just good food. We ordered out so didn't have a dining experience inside. But the delivery was great and we were all very happy with out food.

Delicious Food, Friendly Service

By Karen T |

A friend had recommended Parm to me when I visited New York, knowing that I love Chicken Parmigiana. I was not disappointed. Whilst we had to wait about ten minutes for a table (on a Monday) the Host was friendly and apologetic. When we got seated service was thorough, fast and again friendly. The waiter took the time to talk us through the menu and make personal recommendations. He was also quick to top up drinks when they ran low. The food was just as I hoped - tasty, fresh and hot. I had the Chicken Parm with Buffalo Cucumbers on the side and could easily have taken have of it all home without going hungry! I also tried the breaded mozzarella sticks and the baked ziti - the mozzarella was so good we had to order another portion (we were subsequently told the mozzarella was made on site, which perhaps explains why it was so great). Everyone at the table loved the food. I can't recommend the restaurant highly enough!

What a wonderful dinner we had last night.

By artmuseumgoer |

We shared a platter of chicken parm with spicy rotini. We shared a platter of baked ziti with the add-on of meat sauce (came with a big scoop of ricotta). Shared the spumoni ice cream cake. Everything was delicious. We came in early, before a 7 PM performance at Lincoln Center so we had no wait for a table and the food came out quickly. Servers were very pleasant. We will most definitely be back soon.

Very, Very, Nice!!

By mm__j__ww |

Dropped in for an early Saturday lunch. Staff was friendly and attentive. Great mix of tunes playing at very decent volume. This is an upbeat place, and the Eggplant Parm was perfect. Better than perfect, perhaps! The front patio tables are perfect for enjoying a little people watching as you dine...

A great local pasta place

By Carl_The_Great |

As per headline - a great local pasta place. Nothing flashy, just good food done well. We had the deep fried zucchini, mozzarella and garlic bread for the table to start and followed that with penne scampi and that was delicious. All washed down with some great beer. Very satisfying.

Decent Italian

By Tunaidi |

Parm is a decent Italian spot that takes reservations. Payments are credit card only. Most dishes are good, but I'm not convinced the prices justify the class/quality of the food. Seems more like slightly fancy fast food. Nonetheless, Parm is a good venue for groups.

Parm....heaven

By Bee |

Had early dinner at Parm on weeknight. Started with arugula salad ($14) with figs (dried), almonds (marcona!), and parmesan cheese - dressed to perfection. Great starter. I had the eggplant parm ($18) which is served sans sides - it is a big square (billed as having ten layers) with a splash of red sauce around the edge. This is just divine. I saved half to bring home. I had the eggplant parm sandwich in the past but this is the better way to go - the eggplant is not "diluted" by the bread. Son had the chicken parm dinner served with a side of spicy rotini ($25). He was just so happy with his meal. Great service. Also had coffee. We reluctantly passed on dessert - ice cream cake, cannoli cake (that would have been our choice), a chocolate cake, and a cheesecake (?). Dessert would have put us over the top....next visit.

Expensive and awful

By Fay177 |

Food was awful and expensive. Garlic bread turned out to be deep-fried burger bun (ends)and rock hard! Staff were great and attentive which was the only plus. Ignore the review in the window, it is way out of date!

Went specifically for the baked ziti

By Reesecup56 |

The restaurant was more fast food oriented in my opinion. The baked ziti was good, but the coffee was exceptional. The service was also very good.

Rigatoni Forever

By prkittysd |

I crave the rigatoni fra diavolo. Its pink and creamy sauce has limited spice, and the most perfect amount of sliced onions amongst the perfectly cooked rigatoni. Divine.

Great for lunch !!!

By Frank d |

I needed to have a quick lunch and this place was perfect. Near where I'm staying, great locale, good food, and excellent service. The prices range all over the place but some items are very reasonable !!! By the way the Chicken Parm Sandwich is outstanding !!!

Such great food

By SMills324 |

We ordered take out and was not disappointed. I had the meatball hero sandwich and it was delicious. It was a great sandwich with great flavor. My favorite was the French fries and the dip that came with it.

Exceeded Expectations

By Traveling_priority |

Wether at home or while traveling I’m usually disappointed when dining out. This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! The food was phenomenal! Our server Sam was very polite. We would definitely return here when visiting NYC

Undercooked and overpriced

By NYGirly77 |

This restaurant is way overrated- you would think that with such a limited menu that the items they actually offer would be delicious. Order a meatball parm sandwich for lunch- awful! It was under cooked and still pink on the inside- tasteless, dry and just disgusting. I threw it out because I was afraid to get sick from the raw meat.

$10 sandwich rolls - best delicious value

By nyc2mom |

Have been here twice now - once with our toddler son and another time just with my husband. Pros: Excellent, friendly and accommodating service Everything is truly delicious - there's something about their tomato sauce that is so addictive Lovely front seating area with open windows where you can watch folks walking by (sunny and breezy in the spring/summer). Not as noisy as in the back. Lively atmosphere Good location Husband tried the chicken parm platter with rigatoni (and macaroni another time) - all really good. I had the eggplant parmesan roll for $10 - absolutely delectable! Also, filling and budget friendly. Son who is a toddler and poor eater loved the chicken parmesan! Two folks sitting near us had the Ravioli Classico which looked amazing. Will try that soon. Cons: A bit pricey for what you get Very noisy in the back at night. (My husband and I couldn't hear each other even though we were right across from each other) Tight center tables for two.

Just ok

By 2girlzmomMd |

Went to Parm on a Saturday afternoon around 4:00pm. They just opened the back room and one server was sat with about 5 tables in a row. Needless to say she did the best she could but had a hard time keeping up. Small menu that lacks options. Prices even by NYC standards are ridiculous. I really wanted the food to be amazing but unfortunately it was just ok. Not great and not horrible. Given all the other options for Italian in NYC we probably won't be back to Parm.

Pasta was just OK

By Rhonda284 |

My dish of Linguine Vongole lacked flavor, and the pasta was overcooked. The Caesar salad was good. My husband ordered the Penne Scampi, which was good...so not a total loss!

Delicious and fun

By DSum10 |

Food was amazing and staff was super fun. Its not fancy, but also not meant to be....its just really, really good!

Great value for lunch specials!

By FuzzyBeesMom |

Great lunch specials! Enjoyed salad, sandwich, and dessert for just $25. I must say that the best part was salad mor me. While their marinara sauce is truly awesome and having basil like lettuce in a sandwich is unique and delicious, chewiness of chicken just did not do for me. Willing to try some other menu items though

Exceeds Expectations

By Andrew G |

We just like Parm a lot. Staff is so darn friendly. Menu is simple but in all reality order the Chicken Parm or Meatball Sandwiches and/or Platters, then call it a day! Thanks for being so wonderful on a busy night team, we will be back every time visiting the Upper West Side!

fun but too noisy

By juliegarfield3 |

The parmegiano dishes are good, but the salads are not fresh, stale parmesan cheese from a shaker are awful and the noise is UNBEARABLE and prevents us from returning.

Eat and get out!

By Barry L |

A restaurant named "Parm" and no veal parmigiana on the menu. Limited menu choices. Limited wine choices. Great sauces. Best meatball I've ever eaten in a restaurant! The food we ordered was well cooked with firm pasta cooked just right. Good service. The atmosphere is loud an chaotic. Not the place to have a leisurely meal.

Overpriced!

By WarrenFretwell |

My wife and I were discussing places to eat Italian food on the upper west side during intermission at a Broadway play and a theater-goer sitting behind us volunteered that Pomodoro was a good choice. I did a quick internet search and discovered that Parm was located next door and it received more star reviews. So, we opted for Parm. Should have stuck with Pomodoro. Parm is a more casual place, but, apparently popular enough to bring out the crowds at dinner time. Not sure why because I thought it was too expensive for what was served. We ordered the calamari appetizer and received what amounted to a half-order of calamari and half-order of spicy peppers. Good, not great, and I would have preferred a full-order of calamari. Now, this is an Italian restaurant. You'd think they would serve a crust of bread! Not here! The menu is not large, by any means. I ordered the Fusilli Bolognese. Not much meat in what is supposed to be a meat sauce. My wife ordered the Linguine Vongole (clams). Good. Maybe the sandwiches at lunchtime are better. Another demerit is the ambiance. Although there is a dining room that was empty when we arrived at 5:30, we were seated in the front, near the window area, which appears to be open air during the summer, but, during the winter, it was frigid. You get no points for that! I really don't like to eat in the Arctic! Won't be going back.

Not for me!

By michael f |

A few months ago, we ate w several friends at Parm downtown, and had a very nice evening. Good quality, many choices, terrific service on a busy night. Perhaps a little over the top, but definitely recommendable. Parm on the UWS is another thing altogether, unexpectedly so. Limited menu, more snacks than dinner, mediocre service, overpriced wine, and w a tile floor and a tin ceiling, unbelievably noisy, w loud music thrown in. If that's your cup of tea, go! M

Brilliant little restaurant

By Bikash1958 |

My daughter and I had the eggplant parm and the chicken parmigiana and they were exceptional! Perfect portions perfectly done!

Dinner for 2 under $50

By Lackerfollow |

Tiny neighborhood Italian restaurant with a cozy vibe including retro wallpaper and close knit tables; it feels more like a bistro than a trattoria. Warm environment - menu and restaurant are lean and tidy. Recommended for a hearty entrees under $15 dollars. We liked the meatballs and chicken parm sandwiches better than the hamburger, but the clear standout was the Italian fries. Service was on the slower side, even though restaurant was not busy, but server was polite and helpful.

Late lunch

By vessels4 |

Loved Parm! Recommend having lunch there. Close to Central Park and the Natural History Museum. Cute Italian style restaurant with a fun vibe at the street edge. Food was wonderful! We had the garlic bread, bolognese and spaghetti/meatballs with a glass of rose and a mule. So so good. The kids had burgers and fries with fresh lemonade. Note - burgers and fries are separate items thus the kids food cost more than our individual dishes. The price was a little high for lunch but I would do it again on a special day. DaQuan was our server and he was fantastic. Super awesome with kids and a sweet disposition!

Great Italian Food for Reasonable Prices.

By Eric G |

I have been going hear for years and order the same appetizer and switch between two mains evert time. Arugula Salad with figs almonds and parmesan cheese to start and either the Fusilli Bolognese with ricotta or the Eggplant Parmesan - you can't go wrong. Bon Appetit!

Avoid, avoid , AVOID!!!

By GalwayGirl |

Went for a quick lunch here with family.Waited 30 mins for a couple sandwiches and fries. When we asked our waitress to check when the food might be out and was given a quiet ride answer and told we couldn't expect quick service if there were a certain number of people. Is it our fault the whole family went to lunch??? NO! When the food finally came they forget one order and half of our meals were cold. The actual food left much! to be desired as half as taste and texture go. And to top our lunch of they overcharged for the order they got wrong. Staff was uninterested and frankly miserable. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Not enough food. Portions too small

By Nicole S |

Went here for lunch and had the Meatball Parm hoagie. I was hoping for a side of chips, or fries, or something. The sandwich was good, but wasn't nearly enough food for lunch.

Would go back here

By G-MaJenn |

Great food, good service. Wish there was more sauce and a side of pasta with my eggplant parm but it was delicious. I would definitely go back here when back in NYC.

Parm comes to UWS

By Bee |

This location is more spacious than Soho original. Had window seat (also outdoor seating). We had baked clams ($12), linguine with clams ($17), eggplant parm on a roll ($10), ice cream cake ($10), and brownie ala mode ($10). Starter is complimentary dab of warm mozzarella with two small (1 inch X 2 inch) squares of garlic bread. The warm mozzarella is drizzled with some olive oil. Nice. The garlic bread was very tempting and next time may order a serving ($7) off of the menu. Baked clams have bread crumbs and are served in a puddle of white wine and olive oil - seasoned - five per serving. Very good starter. You'll want to ask for bread because you won't want to less the sauce on the plate. I had the eggplant parm previously in Soho location so I knew to expect some really good eggplant - you can get it on a roll ($10), hero ($14) or a platter ($19) with Sunday salad or spicy pasta side. The roll and hero are served solo. Two varieties of ice cream cake - we had the pistachio, strawberry, chocolate combo which is a BIG serving - recommend sharing unless you really have a lot of room after dinner. The brownie was pretty intense too. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Great spot for dinner!

By Rachel WF |

If's it's a Major Food Group restaurant, I am there. I have been here a couple times, it is a good after-movie, Lincoln Center show, or museum dinner place, as well as an anytime meet-up for groups. My husband says the chicken Parmesan dinner is one of the best he's ever eaten. I always go for the Eggplant Parm--it's not pipping hot. but it's cooked really well and delicious. Make sure you get an appetizer, as they are all good--the BEST is the Garlic Bread--served on sesame bread with parmesan, it's really a treat. Good service, very quick. We will be back again and again

Wanted it to be better than it was

By AmyC723 |

This was my second visit to Parm. My thoughts of this restaurant have not improved. We sat at a good table in the front and had a great waiter. Really liked some of the appetizers- the lightly fried zucchini, the meatballs, garlic bread all very good. If the meal ended there I would have given 5 stars. Entrees were very so so. Had the rigatoni and another pasta dish. Did not love either one. The eggplant Parmesan was good. Didn't love the chicken Parmesan. The cannoli cake dessert was just plain bad. We told the waiter. They didn't offer to remove it from the check. Would have been appropriate if they had. Oh well. But I did love those meatballs.

The Food Is As Passé AsTheMusic

By Joan S |

There is a reason people have left this most basic Italian American food behind. Music from the 1940’s sets the tone, really ,can’t we move on ? I ordered the meatball parm sandwich from the time warp menu. With all the great bread in New York, I was amazed at it being served on a soft sweet hamburger bun.The bottom half was ice cold anyway. Two dry meatballs were warm, but the inedible mozzarella topping was like paper. I sent this insult back, its remade replacement was little better although it included a basil sprig this time. Giving up on the roll, I tried the cheese again. It was like chewing gum! I had to spit it out, it probably would have stuck under the table. I know better, but feel sorry for tourists who have this as a New York experience .Embarrassing.

Welcoming, Not Legendary

By Scott B |

The outside of this restaurant calls you inside, and is open and airy once you have stepped foot in the door. The waiters and waitresses were quick and responsive. We shared a linguine with clams, with a white wine sauce. We would not order that again. And, we also tried the Randy Levine sandwich, which was pretty good, but not something we would seek out again. Spent about $50 for both meals and the drink my wife ordered.

Good food great service

By markKTM |

Sam was a welcoming host and excellent server. I had the (huge) Italian combo sandwich, really delicious, the sauce really has a kick. Highly recommended.

Best Eggplant sandwich in town

By Pat D |

We were down the street at the "Kelly and Michael show", and the staff told us to go to "Parm" 5 blocks away for lunch. A newer place only opened over a year, food for lunch was great. My wife had the "Eggplant Parm on a roll" and I had the baked ziti a house special. The eggplant sandwich was 10 layers, and my wife had to take half of it with us, the baked ziti was a nice sized portion with a scoop of Ricotta cheese. Both meals were excellent. Service/Tony our waiter at the Parm was excellent.

I’d go back for those italian fries

By Jean-Marié N |

We had a delicious lunch here! We had the mozzarella sticks which were delicious! My husband had the chicken parm roll with italian fries - the fries were addictive! And i had the eggplant parm! Also delicious! Well worth it!

Food and Staff amazing!

By Fay L |

The food and staff are amazing here! We needed a place for my friends last minute birthday lunch and Parm did such a great job for us. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server was amazing! He gave us recommendations on what to eat (which everything on the menu sounds delicious) and even had the staff bring over a slice of cake for my friend. The food was hot, fresh, and 100% authentic. The decor and music was fantastic! Great for a group of friends or a cute little romantic date with your love one! Will go back most definitely!

Good food, nice atmospher

By Su Al |

We stopped at Parm for lunch, it was a beautiful day so we decided to eat ouside, but had the opportunity to walk inside and it looked cosy and traditional. The service was good, and so was the food. Some of our party ordered the scampi, some meatnall sandwich and some the spaghetti and meatballs (me included). It was tasty, I just wish they had put more tomato sauce on my dish.

Stick w the sandwich

By KJDbiz1 |

Had high hopes, warm welcome by cheery waitstaff. Stuck in an annoying area that was not particularly pleasant but convenient for staff, while cheery sunlit back area closed off. Baked clams, lots of breading and tons of garlic. At the waitress suggestion I ordered the house special baked ziti with gravy. I was immediately wishing we'd gone next door to pommodoro for my pasta fix. Very underwhelmed. My husbands hero on the other hand was terrific. Heated sesame bun, tasty meats and cheese really good. Would get a delivery on sandwiches, but not likely will go back.

Casual Italian done well

By AirSchis |

Ate dinner there recently with another couple who had been there a number of times. It was a lively place with a positive ambience. The servers were friendly and informative. Lots of choices from their menu for food. Wine, beer and cocktail lists were good as well. The prices were not cheap, but not expensive. The pasta dishes were excellent and the vegetable dishes as well. We were not pushed to leave the place as we stayed for about 2 1/2 hours. Lots of details were looked after like cleaning the table of crumbs after the delicious ice cream cakes for dessert.

Great place for lunch

By Simon E |

We called in for a quick bite of lunch and were very presently surprised by how fantastic thsi place was. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Very highly recommended.

Good Food at a Reasonable (for NYC) Price

By DanLuvs2Travel |

We had dinner here with my son who lives around the corner on 72nd street. There were five of us on a Sunday evening during the first week of December 2015. Lots of chicken parm sandwiches, a little baked ziti and some side dishes. Total bill (no alcohol) was under $100 which is a bit expensive for Midwest (Kansas City) Italian. But as Dorothy said, "We're not in Kansas any more". Seems like a reasonable cost for NYC. Food was good as was the service. One glitch...they seemed to have run out of many dishes. Disappointing but not devastating. What we had was very good.

Nice interiors, very busy, lovely staff members, quick service, food was good but not amazing

By penny_C |

Came here after a long day of travel, the staff were really nice and friendly. The place was absolutely packed. We had mozerella sticks which were delish and a Cesar salad which was also nice. For main we had the Parmesan chicken and vodka pasta which grand. You’d feel a bit terrible after it, I’m from Europe so maybe it’s just the quality of food is different but I wouldn’t be rushing back here again .

Good Red Sauce Italian

By Altina V |

Parm is the perfect go-to when you have a craving for mom's ( or grandma's) Sunday red sauce. The pasta ( or at this homey place we can still call it macaroni) is cooked just right ( that is al dente). The parms, chicken and eggplant are good and good size portions. the linguini and white clam sauce is really garlicky, again, the way it should be. none of this mamby-pamby

Good Italian food

By Ray55 |

Saw the restaurant featured on the Cooking Channel's "Unique Eats". So of course I had to check it out. Went to their U.W.S. location. More extensive menu. Started with the crispy zucchini. Shoe string zucchini fried to perfection. Served with a marinara sauce and a spicy mayo. We then had the baked ziti and eggplant parm sandwich. Both were amazing. You must get the classic ice cream cake for desert, so save some room. There's more than enough for sharing. It's layers of strawberry, vanilla, and pistachio ice cream. Divided by layers of oreo cookie crumble. OMG

Classy place with big service wins.

By MrNoodley |

Yes Parm. Yes! Sleek and modern, without being full of itself, Parm feels like a Vespa transformed into a restaurant and started serving some exceptionally nice food. Meat gravy. All day. The baked Ziti. All day. The ice cream cake. All day. Parm kinda feels hidden on Columbus Ave, but when you get inside, you're hit with a big welcome and outstanding service, from start to finish. Dates, meetings, something to take-away, Parm does it well. One of our highlights on our trip and one we'd definitely revisit. Yes Parm!

Good Food.

By kevinmms1970 |

Good food. Good service. Entree’s should include side of pasta. Still good. would come back. side salad is a little small.

Really good food at great prices

By jeffdaubs |

New Yorkers are jaded when it comes to reviews. This place offers really good food with excellent service at a super reasonable price. We had an array of sides, pasta and fabulous meatballs.

Good food, fantastic service!

By Disneyfayn |

We met a family friend for lunch at Parm on Columbus. The food was very good. The service was amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and worked with me in order to find something my special needs daughter would like to eat.

wha?

By mortyd |

they should have named it 'spor bar' - abbreviatiopn for sporca barzzaletta ('dirty joke) liike 'parm' is supposed to a cute name. whatever the serve here has absolutlely no resemblance to anything served in italy.

stopped in first before going to pomodoro which was next to it

By Phyllis T |

menu awful maybe for snack they had an awful menu would not recommend this at all They first brought water to the table no ice and hot that started it so we left after looking over the menu that 4 people could not even pick a food

Mozzarella Dippers are out of this world

By Bryan_Newell |

The wife had this place in her book to eat at, most notably the mozzarella dippers and the ice cream cake. Dippers were so good, we ordered a second round! Lovely staff, great food.

Expensive. A lot of bread..so much bread

By m_prebble |

After finding that our originally planned dinner place no longer existed, this was a very poor alternative just for getting something to eat. Granted our waitress was friendly, efficient and the food arrived quickly (some might say too quickly)... it was just meh. In both our dinners there was a large amount of bread that was quite dry with no butter. We left the restaurant feeling full but far from satisfied. Beer was unreasonably expensive - $10 for a small glass. I know Manhattan is expensive ... but this wasn't worth the money.

Good food, good value

By jqsteve |

Casual, comfortable family dinner for 5. We all enjoyed traditional Italian dishes and, as you might expect, chicken and eggplant parm were the favorites. Our server was friendly, attentive, and kept our wine glasses full. We'll be back.

Parm pure pleasure!

By kikikrick |

Amazing food. Just incredible. Great value. Family friendly for all ages. Amazing service - completely accommodating. Quality of ingredients very high. Great energy. Chicken parm platter is a ton of food! Caesar salad is very anchovy so you have been warned. Garlic broccoli is very flavorful!

Early Lunch With Mom, Fresh Mozz, and Chicken Parm.

By Marc M |

Meet my mom here for a early Friday morning lunch, I had the chicken parm dinner with spicy rotini pasta and my mom had the prosuite and mozzarella sandwich both were super tasty.. I like this place because it is causal restaurant and sandwich shop,It has a small menu, which means to me that what the do they do right . I also order the house made Fresh Mozz, It was super fresh and very soft great texture. Great lunch spot

Sandwiches worthy of Aziz Ansari's praise

By Jacqueline |

Really good small chain of Italian-American restaurants. Their parm sandwiches were featured in the Master of None Netflix series season 1. Aziz Ansari rightfully so praises their merit. I am vegetarian and loved the eggplant parmesan rolls which did not feel greasy or oily (though I am not fooling myself, I am sure oil was involved before breading). My daughter loved her chicken parm roll. I also loved the decadent "italian" fries - at $8, they should be good.

Not very italian

By Jim H |

Not at all traditional menu. Very limited choices. All Al acarte...bead is $8 extra. Wine is expensive. Chicken prim is excellent. Much better in area and cheaper.

Great local spot for food

By TravelLovers1234 |

I was walking by and stopped for dinner. It was the tail end of happy hour so I picked up a few things from that menu and then a dinner plate of pasta. Everything was super fresh, tasty and yummy. The restaurant was full and all of the people around me sounded happy with all of their items they ordred.

Fun place, good food, watch the meatballs

By Daydreamingtraveler |

We went here for a business dinner. Food was delicious. We had fresh mozzarella and meatballs for appetizers. The meatballs had some spots of raw meat, but everyone ate them and no one got sick. I ordered baked ziti for my meal and it was amazing. We had the most amazing ice cream cake for dessert, to die for! And some delicious Italian wine that i wish i could remember the name of!

Basicly Italian Fast food, like in a Food Court in the Mall

By Fivedanes |

Overall very disappointing experience. My salad was just a small bowl overflowing with lettuce, canned olive and a few tomato and cucumber. Not enough room to toss the dressing in. Dressing very disappointing. Tasted like out of a bottle. Usually places like this, have a special signature dressing. My son in law loved the cucumbers with buffalo sauce and bluechese. To me totally unacceptable mix of flavors. Pasta that came with parm chicken was spicy , but totally generic. My bouglonese didn't have much flavor and pasta was over cooked. The fried zucchini appetizer was fairly good. My advice, go somewhere else. It was basicly like a food court restaurant in a mall, but way too expensive.

Good!

By DocEV |

Limited food choice but definitely worth a try. Vegetarians....not the place for you 😀 I had the baked ziti, which were very good. I would not define this as an Italian restaurant, but rather as American-Italian. Great service, prices are little on the high side but still reasonable

Lunch on arrival

By Liqmetl |

Great food. Enjoyed their meatballs and chicken parm sandwich. Really best sandwich we had on our trip. Nicecasual atmosphere.

Hip diner inspired space

By GoddessofOz |

Great local made pasta, especially with shrimp, calamari and sides. Good wine list and helpful staff. Loud atmosphere but not too loud that you can't talk to each other. Great music.

Definitely Not Worth the Money

By watermarkhomes |

I usually only write a review when I think something was better than anticipated or they went above and beyond - but this is not one of those situations. Was at Brookfield Place ice skating with our two children. It got late and everyone was getting hungry so we opted to stay and eat. Italian sounded good - but sadly Parm was not good. Very disappointing. The kids seemed OK with theirs thats the only reason I gave it two stars. I had the baked ziti and is so overcooked I had to take the top "crust" of burnt cheese off. Maybe that's the way "authentic" Italian ziti is supposed to be, but it wasn't a good thing in my opinion. Then we got the final bill!! I know it's New York and things are expensive, which I don't mind when the quality is good. The bill was over $100 with no drinks or appetizers and definitely was not worth it. I would NOT recommend. The server also seemed very uninterested in being there.

Changeover not a good time to dine here....

By Bee |

I have loved the food here in the past but the time between lunch and dinner is not the best for dining as patrons do not get the attention needed unless they are seated at the counter. We had multiple waiters attending to us when we did receive some attention - most of the staff was busy getting ready for dinner or just arriving or working on the computer...Started off with a cup of coffee that must have been sitting around for a long time so we skipped that. We ordered the excellent arugula salad to start and that arrived fairly quickly. Then we asked for bread for our extended meal wait - we got a small end piece. Maybe no one was around to cut another piece of bread - not sure on that. So yet another waiter came and asked if we needed anything and we did - our meals. He must have sensed my frustration because someone did come over to apologize - something about having to make a fresh batch of pasta. So after 40 minutes our meals did come out. By that time we didn't have a long time to linger....we ordered coffee again and got freshly brewed. I do love the food but my suggestion would be to shut down for the changeover - patrons will be better served and happier with their dining experience. We arrived at 4:25 pm - wait a bit til the dinner crowd arrives.

Great Lunch Spot

By PTrish01 |

Lunch at Parm was very good: we had the Linguine with Clams which was delicious, and we also had the Caesar Salad with Avocado which was also very good. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, and our server was very nice and attentive.

Always a great meal

By secondfloor |

We dash in here for weeknight dinner and also for special occasions and it never disappoints. We love the baked ziti and the eggplant parm -- the edges are always toasty. The meatballs are delicious!

Average at best for an inexpensive red sauce kind of place

By PrinceConsort |

I went here for lunch at about 1pm on a Monday. The place was almost empty...more staff than customers. I ordered a turkey sandwich on a roll and got eggplant parmigiana on a hero instead. It seemed too much trouble to change, so I ate it. The sandwich was very gooey and only OK, although it was pretty cheap. If you like meatballs and eggplant parm kinds of foods, I guess this place is OK. Probably good for kids. Not my taste, though. Don't ask why I ended up here! The waitress was very nice, although she seemed pretty inexperienced. Perhaps that's why my order got mixed up. They don't have expresso, and their coffee machine was broken. An Italian restaurant without expresso?

Chicken parm was as good as they say

By fpathdoc |

Diner-style atmosphere but really good food. We went for the chicken parmesan after searching online for the best chicken parmesan in NYC. This one is rated highly by several sites and was worthy of the high ratings. It is not pounded flat which has its own pluses and minuses. It had the right amount of high quality cheese and was served with a generous portion of pasta. The pasta bolognese was also delicious. I should probably say that the portion was perfect (medium sized serving), but I ended up reaching over and finishing the pasta that came with the chicken, too. Caesar salad was plenty for two people. Prices were reasonable for NYC. Service was excellent—both at the bar and at the table.

Delicious chicken Parm and pasta

By Foodilicious |

Delicious chicken parm and pasta. Pasta is served with a spicy tomato sauce that is just amazing. The portions are very big. We had mozzarella sticks as a starter to share and it was too much. A little pricey: 80$ for two chicken parms and a Diet Coke.

Good casual Italian dining experience. Food is good, portions small. Overpriced

By jafo777 |

Three of us visited the Parm UWS location for dinner. We had a reservation for 6:00 on a weeknight so it wasn't very crowded when we got there, although by the time we left it was packed and very noisy (typical for NYC restaurants). We got seated right away and the server was right there ready to take a drink order. We got the meatball appetizer. 3 good sized meatballs with a decent (not great) marinara sauce. The meatballs were flavorful, but I like things that are mildly spiced. They were a bit underdone for my tastes, but I understand that this is the way they serve them. At $15 for 3 meatballs, I would say that they aren't worth the price. Maybe at $9, they are a good choice. They brought bread and olive oil for the table, but only after we asked for it. 2 of us ordered iced tea, and one of us drank water. No refills were offered on the iced tea. We ordered 3 different entrees and some sides. Rigatoni Fra Diavolo, Shrimp scampi with fusilli, and the Chicken Limone. The portions are smallish for what you pay for. Not skimpy.....enough to fill a person up. More like lunch portions, For the prices they charge, it doesn't seem right. I can see paying alot of money for small portions of fine cuisine, but for this isn't "fine" enough to justify smallish portions. The rigatoni was done nicely. The sauce was very spicy, which the person who ordered it enjoyed. However, it may be too spicy for many people. The scampi was good, but not for $21. Not a whole shrimp in the whole dish. Shrimp pieces only. It's maybe a $14 dish. The chicken limone was very good. It is served in a nice, bright, lemony broth with canneloni beans, mint, and juienned zucchini. Nice dish, but not for $24. Price it at $18 tops. We also ordered a side salad and the broccoli side order. The broccoli came out all chopped up with stems and tops all mixed in. Mostly stems. Not worth $8, and nether was the salad. Mostly a bowl of iceberg with a few olives and red peppers on top. We didn't order any dessert or wine, and we got out of there at $130 including tip. In summary, it's not worth it. Don't get me wrong....the food is good, but it is not "fine" Italian cuisine and it shouldn't be priced as high as it is. It's casual Italian dining...the atmosphere, the food, the service, and the clientele prove that out. It even has an Italian deli counter in front. You pay dinner prices for lunch portions. Slash everything by a third and you've got a good product at a fair price. We probably won't go back.

Good stop for lunch

By podgypig85 |

We stopped here for lunch. It's cute inside and wasn't too busy. We had the meatballs which were really good and both had the chicken parm. Food was delicious. Service was a little slow considering the restaurant was fairly quiet, but the guy serving us was friendly enough. If you're in the area, I would recommend.

Fantastic food

By gensamer |

The restaurant is cute & clean. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. I ordered the Pork Milanese that is served beneath an arugula salad. It was out of this world! We also ordered the Smores Ice Cream Cake which was phenomenal. Food is reasonably priced and the service is great!

Welcome to the Neighborhood

By Ditzyredhead |

The place is always packed, and despite some modest portions if you do take-out, you can never be truly disappointed if you're willing to wait. This is a family, no KID friendly, loud Italian joint. The menu isn't brilliant, but is tasty. The gluten free pasta is a find if you have the misfortune of usually landing at an Italian meal with no wheat free options. Not here, you can do the pasta, the calimari, the salads and most of the vegetables. But listen to your waiter -- they will tell you what's what. And if your kids are already hungry and you don't have a reservation, order in or take away.

Heavy but amazing!

By Tina_Dz |

Absolutely fabulous sandwiches! We came in with our family for dinner, all of us had sandwiches: the signature parm chicken sandwich and the roast beef ones. Plus zucchini tempura and French fries. Seriously heavenly. Heavy but amazing !

Dinner portions small/pricey - lunch sandwiches divine

By constantgardener87 |

We ate at the sandwich Parm in area around Washington Square earlier in the week and loved it. That meal was great - filling and appropriate for price and value. We decided to try the Parm on the upper west side for dinner later in the week. Not a good choice except out waiter allowed my husband to order a meatball sub even though not on dinner menu. I ordered penne with bolognese sauce. Priced around $18. Side of broccoli - $8. The pasta and sauce were ok. The portion was ridiculously small. The broccoli had two regular pieces and the rest looked like shredded tops. Weird. Small bowl. At least with a $12 meatball sub you are stuffed with no regrets. Their dinner menu was average and a rip off for value.

Go-To Neighborhood FAVE Italian

By Diva_Fashionista5 |

Food is always solid and great -- from eating in the restaurant with super friendly service with occasional visits from the manager to take-out/delivery, it's always DELICIOUS food and never gets old. We always order the penne scampi, rigatoni fra diavola, garlic bread and sometimes the pork Milanese. The arugula salad is delicious with almonds and fig as well. And the chicken part is our 8yr old son's favorite - - he literally eats the entire plate himself and it's huge! It might look like a small, simple menu but everything is always great - - you'll never go wrong. This is our neighborhood go-to Italian place on the UWS!

Simple and Tasty Italian at Parm

By Rich C |

Visited my son and daughter in law and they took me to Parm. If you are looking for good food and plenty of it, I suggest Parm. I recommend the Pork Milanese as and entree and the Mozzarella and Prosciutto appetizer. You will be packing a doggy bag after the meal.

Dinner in the city.

By msgluck1981 |

Having a family dinner in New York. My daughter heard this was a good Italian restaurant and wanted to try it. We shared the meatball appetizer and a Caesar Salad, and all of us had the Chicken Parm dinner. The meatballs were very good, the Caesar Salad was okay and the Chicken Parm was also very good. It is not a fancy restaurant and doesn't have a large menu, but overall the food was very good. If you are in the area, Columbus Avenue in the 70's, Parm is a good restaurant to try.

Great food … super fun … family friendly.

By 819andreay |

Great food … super fun … family friendly. A casual version of the Michelin star rated Carbone. This is a great place to bring your family Italian Classics, like meatball Parm, chicken Parm, and the very famous Spicy rigatoni Carbone. It gets crowded so reservations are a must especially on the weekends.

Great American Diner

By Debbie C |

We had only arrived in NYC a couple of hours ago and it was already 8.30pm when we stumbled across this restaurant close to our hotel that looked busy so decided to give it a go. The staff were all very friendly, the decor is bright, clean and cheerful and the music playing was old fashioned classics giving a great upbeat and happy vibe. My husband had meatballs and I had the shrimp and creamy garlic chilli penne and we shared a garlic bread. The food came quickly and was fresh, hot and delicious. We really loved the whole experience and would thoroughly recommend.

Chicken parm at Parm

By Bee |

Our group of three had two orders of chicken parm ($25) and an arugula salad ($14). The chicken parm is served with rotini and both the chicken and the pasta are generously served - a bit too much for my post-Christmas stomach so I opted for the salad. Casual interior. Food served quickly. Next time I'll be in shape to order the eggplant parm!

Lively Italian

By Joe H |

Generous portions of traditional Italian food Lively atmosphere and attentive service Family friendly

Great Italian

By Gunz |

This was an authentic Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is very "old classic" feeling. The chicken Parm was awesome. We ordered a lot of dishes and shared. Not one dish was disappointing. I highly recommend.

Great UWS Italian

By Neal F |

Went here on a weekend that without reservations. No wait involved in this nice busy restaurant with a smart looking bar. The service was good although we had to ask for bread. The wine that was recommended was below average and I believe the stuffed artichoke hearts were initially frozen. The Caesar salad, however, was very good. The croutons alone were amazing. The pasta dish was excellent as well.

More shtick than sauce

By BroadwayBruce |

Anyone who knows good, classic, neighborhood neapolitan fare would ever set foot in this fraud. Yet, if you're on the upper west side and you can't get somewhere else for chicken parm /meatballs etc you can fake it here.

Lots of choices on the menu

By Lynn F |

We went here the other night for dinner. Got there around 5:30pm and no wait for a table of 5. Thank goodness!! There are many choices on the menu, which made it easy for all of us to enjoy dinner. The fresh mozzarella and prosciutto was fabulous!! The cucumber appetizer was a great idea and enjoyable, but somewhat too spicy. The chicken parm was a very good sized portion and enjoyable. Service was attentive also. We'll go back soon.

It's not gourmet, but it's good !

By Ellen F |

This is like a cool Italian cafeteria. Good food, but not your fancy Italian restaurant. It's casual, has a nice atmosphere, service is great, and it's a fun bar and restaurant scene!

Not as good as other Parm restaurants

By noelle1156 |

really looking forward to this restaurant. we eat at the one at Woodbury Commons every time we go to Woodbury Commons. This one was a total miss. First, the menu is slightly different. Some of the best dishes like fusilli pasta and burrata salad were not on the menu. When we walked in the restaurant smelled of fried food (it was 11:00 am. we had the mozzarella sticks which were good. My daughter had the baked ziti which was ok. I had the Caesar salad which was horrible. It was extremely lemony. Not sure if it was supposed to be that way or if it was totally off. We overheard another patron wonder out load why the menu was different then other Parm restaurants. I would not recommend. I will stick to the one in Woodbury Commons.

Good

By Vulcanus |

Ideal to take with you, they deliver too. Salads, pasta, fries hamburger. Although they have a lot of work, they are all very nice and helpful. Prices ok, good quality.

Must try

By Juan G |

Most certainly one of the best chicken parm sandwiches ever !! The bread was so delicious , also the spicy aoli for the fries was one of a kind

Uneven Reviews Tell a Story

By ROBERT I |

There is a casual, cheerful ambiance here. This is almost a family style restaurant for the younger crowd. Groups of friends at small and large tables. The food is credible Italian—quite good, but not enough to pull my rating up. The prices reflect the high Columbus Avenue rent. We will go back for another meal. Convenient location. The wait staff is friendly but disorganized. They try to help each other as a team. Sadly, that didn’t work in our case and the wait time on order fulfillment and the flow of service suffered.

Meatball sandwich heaven!

By tan-skin-girl |

Had a yummy meatball sandwich here for lunch! My colleagues in New York eat here often and brought me out so I could taste it myself and true enough they were correct. I had the hero meatball sandwich - you can choose turkey, eggplant or chicken - and it was amazing!! drizzle some parmesan before your first bite!

good food, nice ambience

By Natalie_K |

it feels like a step back in time, how european tourists imagine it used to be like - e.g. the black and white floor tiling - the food was really good and plenty, the service was great, wasn't our cheapest lunch, but we really enjoyed it

Top 5 best sandwich the randy Levine

By Chefgregscott |

The upper west side location has the randy Levine sandwich . This ranks up there with Katz pastrami sandwich In my mind omg omg omg you just have to try it

Packed on a Saturday evening

By Peter R |

Convenient to our hotel and Lincoln Center, Parm was a fun find. Host could use a bit of training on how to work a line, made everyone wait while seating first table, never asked if any singles or doubles would like to sit at bar. We had the Shrimp with garlic which has too much red pepper for my taste and the eggplant Parmesan that I really enjoyed. No time to linger as we had a curtain to get to.

Stick to the Strong Points: Best for Lunch

By Tom M |

I eat at Parm (UWS) often. It has some strong points, and you’ll enjoy your meal if you limit your choices to a few menu items. Excellent salads, a terrific Italian cold cut sandwich/hero, and decent parm dishes. Pasta and most entrees are mediocre at best, and given its entree weakness, Parm is better for lunch than dinner. Except for its very good bar area, Parm looks like a lunch place. (Parm took over space previously occupied by a diner, and didn’t change much other than bar and furniture.) I do like sitting by the large front windows. Wait staff is young, eager, not all that skilled, but very likable. Also great golden oldies music.

good food, good service!!

By drjeff77 |

Had a nice lunch with family at Parm! The service was very good as was the food, but I wouldn't say it was great! Meatballs very tasty, excellent garlic bread, good salads and drinks! Overall prices were reasonable- definitely worth a try!

Best Chicken Parm!!!

By Cassandra L-S |

This was by far the best chicken parmesan (besides my dads) that I have ever had. Being Italian I am a bit weary of eating in Italian restaurants only because I get the best food at home. I was not disappointed the service is fantastic and the food is OFF THE CHART good.

Go light

By Kitty272727 |

This was an informal quick-bite place with lots of sandwiches. However, we wanted a full meal and had fried calamari, eggplant parmigiana, chicken and rice in lemon sauce, and chicken parmigiana. They were all right and the portions large enough. The accompanying spaghetti was undersauced. The chicken was strongly lemon flavored, although I liked it. The service was good and very attentive. They were willing to turn down the loud music. I would come again alone, but with friends I would the one next door.

Great Italian-American in a deli

By VéroB |

Had dinner for four. Fun, lively roon. Nothing fancy, but the food was excellent. Awesome eggplant parmesan! And pasta cooked al dente. And excellent wines. Great service. Mangia!

Inconsistent

By Spw91 |

Stopped by for a light dinner/ very early dinner on a Sunday with my family of four. We had several apps, a Cesar salad and the rigatoni. The rigatoni was excellent, the fried calamari fine, the Cesar salad only fair. The service was attentive at first and then the server went MIA apologized brought a on the house cocktail and then went MIA again when I wanted to pay. It’s a fairly large restaurant which is unusual in the neighborhood.

Meh…

By Don F |

Great location. Service was good and quick. Food: mozz sticks were very good. Signature vodka penne dish was excellent. Meatball parm sandwich was pretty good. Chicken parm sandwich was a little below average. Spaghetti and meatballs were atrocious. Meatballs were fine, but the spaghetti was probably the worst I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Very similar (identical really) to the canned Chef Boyardee stuff. Just order the penne and you’ll be fine. If you want something else, keep walking.

Nonna food

By Ferrgus19 |

We were pleasantly surprised and delighted by Parm. Although it's a red sauce restaurant, it's the red sauce that your nonna brought over from the Old Country and modified only slightly for her American grandchildren. Plus, nonna never made cucumbers with buffalo wing sauce, which were simply amazing. We also loved the fried zucchini shoestrings, the Fra Diavolo pasta (so velvety!), and the 10-layer eggplant parmesan. Two bottles of excellent Italian vino rosso (Montepulciano and Chianti) went beautifully with everything. The topper, though we barely had room for it, was the cannoli cake -- yes, a cake made out of cannoli filling. Grazie, nonna, and grazie, friendly, knowledgeable wait staff. I would definitely return for more of Parm's fun ambiance (we helped the lady at the neighbouring table sing Happy Birthday to her boyfriend) delightful food.

Great Italian!

By ktrw91 |

My husband had the eggplant parm and I had the baked ziti. Both of us left saying it was the best we had ever eaten. The fresh mozzarella was AMAZING and the big lump of ricotta on top of my ziti was TO DIE FOR!!!!! So glad we decided to stop in during our stay in NYC. We definitely recommend!

I dont get it

By chrnnurse |

I dont get what the hype is about this place. The chicken parm was ok, the portions are ridiculously small, we literally sat on top of other diners and its not cheap! Maybe we went on an off day, i dont get the appeal.....

I went to the one at 250 Vesey

By nycmom22 |

Sort of fun. Good salad. But servers are new and green. They need more training or quieter music so one wants to return

Like being in Nonna's kitchen in the middle of NYC!

By Eliza R |

We were last here in between Christmas and New Year's Eve, on a mid week evening. We always sit at the bar to eat, as the chairs couldn't be more comfy! I can't say enough about the bolognese!!

Almost....

By BigRickyC |

I have only visited Parm once, and was anticipating greatness based on it's popularity in the downtown location. The food was good, not great. The deep fried calamari with long peppers, requested crispy, was not crispy, but tasted OK. It was long on peppers, but short on calamari. The two accompanying sauces were OK. The signature chicken parm sandwich on hero was good as well, but not memorable. The turkey sandwich on a roll was excellent, with real fresh sliced turkey. In the processed food deli world this was a revelation. On a Sunday afternoon the place was packed with young families. The back room has lovely ceiling lights and is welcoming. The staff did its best, but were admittedly short handed, but worked hard. I won't rush back, but will go back.

Disappointing

By Nina S |

Although the waiter was nice, the Baked Ziti I ordered came with the top burned, the bottom hard and the middle still cool - like it had been frozen and not fully warmed when it was put under a broiler. I sent it back (I RARELY do that but it was inedible) and came back more burned, slopped on the plate and overcooked. The waiter forgot to bring cutlery until I asked and had to be asked to bring us some bread while we waited for the ziti to be brought back. Not a good dining experience at all.

Mediocre, Overpriced Food

By SS |

Went here during a resurgent heatwave in NYC in October because it was air conditioned and none of the other restaurants on Columbus were. I shared a Caesar salad with my girlfriend and we each had different pasta dish, but both tasted exactly the same. Very mediocre food that is way overpriced and the place is overcrowded loud, rude people. The reviewer who termed this Italian fast food is right on!

Surprise! Great Inexpensive Italian on the Upper West Side

By PSGumby |

I loved Parm. From reading on-line reviews, I was afraid it was a crowded scene kind of place, but it turned out to be busy, but certainly not a scene. Service is pleasant and accommodating. Portions are large. The Caesar Salad was excellent - in fact better than most - and big enough for two. Pasta portions are also big. But it is nice to see pasta for under $20 in this expensive city. We were too full for dessert, but I will come back.

The worst!

By Lisa M |

Bad bad food. Horrible service. Over cooked pasta. Tasted like canned tomato sauce. Ill never go again! Too many kids. Tacky. Just gross!

Open but not really

By Shelley K |

I made Reservation For New Year’s Day but upon arrival restaurant said they were out of many items since we traveled to visit the restaurant we decided to stay - waitstaff was terrible had to beg red haired waiter to bring water and then begged a busboy to be waited on for food order - food came cold and hard no effort put behind the meal again I had to find a waiter for exchange and they weren’t happy got back the meal and No it wasn’t much better - if this restaurant did not have food why did they open and why wouldn’t they alerted us on our reservation - will never go back

Simply great italian food in a lovely place

By marabel100 |

We shared a salad, vegetables and fish. And it was all great. It's loud especially in the back but it feels festive. The waiters were adorable and very good. The pink and white dessert in the pictures is killer. Definitely going back.

BEST Italian - our family’s go-to!!

By Diva_Fashionista5 |

Always good, hot, delicious food - we are NEVER unhappy whether we eat in the restaurant (super great and friendly service), order delivery or eat leftovers! Yes, we all fight for the leftovers and over-order just to have leftovers. Our fave dishes are the penne scampi, rigatoni fra Diavola (has a little kick/spice), chicken Parm, eggplant Parm, garlic bread, arugula salad and pork Milanese - you’ll never go wrong. The Italian fries are great too but best in the restaurant. Our 2 kids (11 and 8yrs old) love love love this place and have been going since they were babies. We also had the s’mores ice cream cake and it was DELICIOUS. We take our friends and families here when they visit and they are so happy with the fabulous food - even the pickiest most critical one (my DAD who hates almost anything not home cooked). Definitely go - you’ll be sorry if you leave NYC without going here - this is hands down our neighborhood FAVE. It’s casual with a small unassuming menu but you will be AMAZED.

OMG! SO GOOD!!!!

By Lauren P |

Parm is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! I see that someone reviewed this place and said the portion was small and not enough food, that's absurd. Portion sizes were great, food was so good and atmosphere was great. We stated with the handmade mozzarella, which was still warn and was so good, then we had the baked ziti and the chicken parm - both were perfection!!!! We finished it with the ice cream cake of the month, smores!!! it was so good. Can't wait to go back here!

Simple, good and quick

By Antionio10 |

Pharm is a great spot for a simple, but good meal. Lots of "bar specials." Good pasta and chicken parm. Service is quick so, if you are pressed for time, this is a good spot. Great for a crowd. No one will complain.

Delicious Food

By Alexandra H |

Had to wait a little after our reservation time, but the food is delicious. The waiter had an interesting sense of humor and definitely didn't understand my sense of humor. He said that he didn't recommend any of the mixed drinks on the menu because they were just "their" version of something else. We were sat in a booth and the air conditioning vent dripped on my head several times, I had to move to the other side of the table.

What A Sandwich!

By DuffyNC |

Just happened upon this cheerful spot on Columbus Avenue when I was very hungry. Parm came to the rescue in a big way. The huge, cheesy, tomatoey chicken parm sandwich is pure comfort food. You'll need a few napkins to get through it and you won't be hungry again for a long while.

Food is 5/5, shame about the service (the second visit)

By Paige |

We came here twice during our trip to NY as we were staying down the street. On our first visit we just had some drinks at the bar- spicy marg was perfect as was the negroni. The second visit we had food as well as drinks. We stuck with appetisers as it was early evening and honesty all the food far surpassed our expectations. One thing I will say is that the bartender wasn’t the most engaging. On our first visit we had a good chat with our bartender, however on our second visit we almost felt like an inconvenience for sitting at the bar. Attempts as small talk were quickly shut down and dismissed- which was heightened by the fact we were one of the few people in the restaurant it’s not like they were busy serving others. We initially chalked it down to him having an off day, but he seemed far more interested with taking to his coworkers. Usually wouldn’t be an issue, but you’d expect someone working the bar where people are seated to be charaamtic or engaging, especially when being expected to tip 20%+ for service we didn’t receive. In all honesty, if that had been our first visit we probably wouldn’t have come back. Based on our experience with the appetisers I’m sure the rest of the menu is excellent and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for food. Maybe if we came back we’d sit in the restaurant to alleviate any of these issues. Happy hour (both food and drinks) is also great value for money.

Tasty food, but so many mishaps

By Arlene001 |

Our friends ordered sandwiches and vegetables and asked for the vegetables to come with the sandwiches. They came way before the sandwiches, so we asked for them to be warmed up when their sandwiches came. The waitress said, "It will take too long," and walked away. I asked for the salad without certain additions and for more romaine lettuce to replace what was left out. She told me that it would not be possible. She never even gave it a try. The salad was almost all iceberg lettuce. We had to ask more than once for water and coffee. The food was tasty, though the experience made it not worth going back.

Simple, satisying, and fun

By Bucky6478 |

Enjoyed my first visit to Parm which serves a simple menu of Italian classics - however, the food is pricey, portions are small, and some items were a bit bland. The apps were all fairly good - warm mozzarella, spicy rabe, string beans, mozzarella sticks, and beets. would probably order all again other than the string beans. For mains, we got chicken parm and eggplant parm hero - the latter was probably the most disappointing item sampled; really basic and such a small portion. On the other hand, the slice of ice cream cake was superb. highly recommend.

Good place to eats with teens

By jimbelenis |

Solid Italian. Calamari and fried zucchini were a hit. The chop salad was very good, but, the dressing has horseradish in it. If you don’t like that then don’t get. The cCicken Parm dinner was good. A lot of pasta. The eggplant parmigiana was better I thought. Even though we didn’t order any drinks we had great attentive service.

Great food and service.

By mssbosse |

We stopped in at 7:00 p.m. they were starting to get crowded so we sat at the bar. Tony was our server and was very personable. Based on Tony's recommendations we had meatballs, chicken parmigiano, and spicy rigatoni! Fabulous! By the time we left it was standing room only. I recommend you go early.

Don't order for delivery

By rfgcpw |

The food took OVER 2 hours. Arrived cold. The restaurant lied after an hour and said it was on its way. Really really bad!!!!!!! Go elsewhere

melts in your mouth

By Robert R |

Chicken Francese simply melts in your mouth - as good as it can get. Melted mozzarella appetizer scrumptious as well although it comes with slightly too potent garlic slices. And the eggplant parm hero is as fresh and crisp as it could possibly be. Modest sized portions are enough for most people. Ice cream cake and smores desserts are especially yummy. Service is good and if you like retro 50's atmosphere, this place is worth a visit.

Average red sauce

By Edward M |

I had the eggplant parm sandwich. Not much of improvement over local pizza restaurant. Roll very fresh which is welcome but very flat overall flavor. Basil welcome flavor, but the obviously precooked dish ( as of course necessary) lacked bright tomato flavor, seasoning (salt), and had limited mozzarella. Also as tends to occur when you bake tomato sauce dishes, there was a bitter almost burnt flavor to dish. Italian French fries were very good although shoe string fries tend to get cold fast and nasty quickly these seemed to hold up well. Bar staff friendly and attentive.

A+++ meatball sandwich!

By NashvilleTNGuy |

I ate here on January 12, 2022. I ordered the meatball parm sandwich and it was fabulous! They upcharge for the side of fries. The fries are good if you want them but the sandwich is plenty big for a good lunch. I'll be back next time I am in NYC.

Wonderful

By davyd83 |

Was wandering on my way to Central Park and stopped by Parm for dinner. I ordered Spaghetti & Meatballs. The server told me they had run out of Spaghetti noodles and gave me a choice of other pastas. So I went with the Penne and a glass of Pinot Noir. The meal arrived quickly and Kema (server) let me know that since I had to switch pastas, they added extra meat balls. The meal was delicious. It was a gorgeous New York summer’s eve and the service was outstanding. I’d definitely love to come back on my next trip to New York!

Great food and great staff

By David J |

Friendly and welcoming staff with nice humour. The food was delicious and the portions generous. OK, not cheap eats, but you’re only one block back from Central Park and Strawberry Fields, so hardly surprising

Delicious dinner

By LadiesVoices |

I went to a concert at Lincoln Center last night and was looking for a new place to grab a bite.$20 seems expensive for an Italian combo sandwich, but it was a big ass sandwich, and delicious, and the place is cute. Plus you have to consider the neighborhood (the Upper West Side). My server was Kelane, she was wonderful.

Great Chicken Parmesan

By tkeucla |

If you like calamari, you much order it a Park. It is some of the best I have ever eaten. The Chicken and the Eggplant Parmesan are both excellent. The service was fine, as we ate at the bar and the staff as attentive enough. Parm is a great spot that you actually can afford in NYC. I’ll be back.

Just ok

By Quikag54 |

If you like noisy ok Italian this is the place for you. Limited menu, small portions and average prices for average food. Asked for a vodka and tonic and was given gin and tonic. Deserts were the best part of the meal.

I'm never this brief with a review, but I will say that it's a busy place. Good service and pretty good food. Portions are adequate. I would probably give it another try.

Classic Italian on the UWS

By Caroline D |

i went to Parm with my family for the first time this week after catching an early movie at the nearby Loews theater. Overall, I was impressed with the food and the service. The only reason I did not award five stars is because the restaurant had some real noise issues (my family and I had to shout at each other just to be heard) and the menu was somewhat limited. For entrees, we ordered the lemon chicken, two orders of the fusilli bolognese, and the linguine vongole. The lemon chicken was a large portion but totally delicious - juicy and flavorful, served with some garlicky white beans. The fusilli bolognese was also wonderful, served with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. The linguine vongole was the least appreciated dish of the night. While the clams were fresh and the pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was overly garlicky/rich for our personal taste. Also, the complimentary bread they served was remarkably good, served with olive oil, fresh grated parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. The service was average, i'd say. I would go here again to try the eggplant parm, or if I had a craving for some good bolognese.

Wonderful AC and Loud Music at the Restaurant whose Aim is to Please the staff !

By Scott B |

Against my better judgement and only because it was raining this afternoon and Parm is close did I venture back into this joint - my first experience was dreadful. As a major foodie in NYC - it astounds me that the Carbone Group would put their name on this poorly managed dump. First, the entire restaurant ambience (lol) that is a completely facetious remark is designed for the comfort of the staff - Guys, its not the diners fault that you put the kitchen down one entire side of the restaurant and the poor chefs (and that is another facetious remark) are so damn hot that the dopey hostess has the air conditioning on full blast obviously for THEIR comfort. I asked twice for it to be turned off and to no avail - that was after the bartender abruptly said we dont have Heiniken Zero or for that matter any alcohol free beers - seriously guys - and I had to ask him to turn down the music which was on full blast at 2:00 pm in the afternoon. Its raining now and the temp outside is currently 39 degrees as the AC flows across the bar - oh yeah and the food - mozzarella sticks were burned and the parm sandwich was a 6. Some places succeed for reasons unknown - but trust me I will not EVER come back to Parm - “the restaurant whose mission is to make sure the staff is comfortable.”

Old style diner with large helpings of "Italian" specialties

By rwfishermn |

Clean, well lite spacious dining room behind the Italian deli. The host was slow to respond to us even in a mostly empty dining room Meat balls were large and soft, okay for me but others thought them undercooked. The egg plant parma was good with lots of skin. The sauce was very sweet and far from perfect.

Food is good, but ear bleeding loud

By MellynNYC |

We went here before a 7:00 show at Lincoln Center. As a couple, we were seated in the back skylight room with two tables filled with toddlers. There were only three tables taken. While early, it was very, very empty. The kitchen was very busy though with take-out and delivery. I have been here several times for lunch and it is the same problem, loud, loud, LOUD! They play the music too loud (Van Halen during our dinner) and then everyone shouts to be heard over the music. And the very large screen television on CNN in the back room is just obnoxious. Who wants a tv on in a restaurant? It seems they can't decide if they are a loud bar or not. If you are deaf and know sign language this would be a great place to go as they have done the hard part of making really good food. But I won't be returning until they do something to make this a civilized place to dine, instead of a place where you snarf up your food as quickly as possible to escape the volume.

Warmed over

By Rocky S |

A major disappointment. Chicken parm - their specialty- was not fresh cooked. Obviously warmed over. Tough. Not tasty. And side salad had more than its share of brown salad. Too bad.

Great addition to neighborhood

Solid casual Italian. I have been to this restaurant over half a dozen times and everything I have had has been very good. Highly recommended.

Delicious and Great Service

Reservations are a good idea. Go with a group of friends and order one of each sandwich and share. They are all fantastic!

Good Family Option

By Dan G |

The feedback on Parm has been average to poor which is really surprising given how good Carbone and other restaurants by this ownership group are. Let me be clear the this is no Carbone or Sardelle's which are two of my favorite NYC Restaurants. My wife and my parents ate here when it first opened and universally thought it was lousy. Based on that, I avoided going here until this evening. I read a number of reviews and it seems that despite the name Parm, the chicken Parm is just not very good. The reviewers seemed to be favorable on the garlic bread, mozzarella sticks (which are back on the menu), the shrimp scampi and the Chinese ribs. Well the reviewers were right, these dishes are all very good. So maybe they should change the name to Scampi or Chinese Ribs since that is what they do well. I would go back for the ribs and scampi. I would also note this is a very good atmosphere for families.

Very disappointing

By Relax31406429585 |

Disappointing, over-priced food in a VERY loud setting and they wouldn't honor the Happy Hour offer because they claimed the offer was only good in the bar area, saying incorrectly that this is specified on the website, which it is not! The one good thing was that our waitress was helpful when we told her two of our entrees were lukewarm - she brought new, properly heated replacements. The wine was $15 for a half-full glass and my eggplant parmesan hero was skimpy, priced at $17. The same dish served as an entree with a side salad was $23 and much larger, at least. The entire restaurant is hard tiled -- floors, ceiling, and walls, and the noise level is unbelievable. When we left the restaurant, we marveled at how quiet NYC was on a busy evening, even with the sirens and street noise. I usually take photos of food in restaurants, but this was so disappointing, it wasn't worth it. The meatball parmesan hero contained almost no mozzarella and was also skimpy.

Excellent Italian food, Little Italy style

By Elizabeth A |

The decor says it all about parm, it’s decorated with 50’s kitschy kitchen wall paper and booths, to feel like one of the old familiar spots in Little Italy. And the menu reflects the Little Italy location, as it has a few Chinese influenced dishes, since Chinatown is right next to Little Italy. All the food is outstanding.

Fun, upbeat Italian place on the Upper West Side

By WinstonSydney10 |

My family and I really enjoyed our visit to Parm on the Upper West Side. For us, as out of towners, Parm epitomised what you want a New York restaurant to be. Brisk, attentive service is a busy, bustling space. I also thought that the combination of authentic vegetable antipasto dishes worked well with the signature parmigiana sandwiches. I had the meatballs and my son has the Chicken Parm. The pasta was good too and my kids are still talking about the S'mores ice cream cake.

Could be nice, simple menu

By Terry2299 |

We were there recently with two friends visiting. Our friends wanted something simple. The place is noisy making it hard to talk. The tables by the street window might be less noisy but only for two people. The menu listing is simple. The price could be a little high for a dish of Pasta. My dish was a little spicy, but not too much. The bottles of water are room temperature. Avoid the dish that says "For the table, San Gennaro Ribs $25" The ribs did not have much meat on it and were very tough to chew. The service was ok. Nothing special.

Extremely fast service, fresh food

By Ellpett |

First of all, make sure you have a reservation before showing up - this restaurant is extremely busy! The menu was simple but varied. All the food was tasted was fresh and well cooked. We did feel service throughout the meal was quite rushed - definite “table turning” tactics at play here - but this is more of a fast food experience than a fine dining restaurant in which to linger. As stated, this is a very busy place. We were seated by the open kitchen and were intrigued by the continuous stream of takeout orders being prepared in a production line by dedicated staff - an impressive operation although perhaps this could be relocated out of customer view?

First visit

We went here before a movie nearby. As others state, the service is speedy. Anything parmigiana, hence the name Parm, is good. A reservation was helpful. It does get noisy. Little kids are welcome.

Italian Diner

Fantastic food and homemade lemonade and tea! Very good portion sizes, too. One of my favorite bites on our trip! It’s tucked in off the beaten path but very quaint and local feeling.

Consistently Good

By Dennis W |

This cozy Italian restaurant is fast becoming my neighborhood favorite! The wine selection is excellent and the limited menu allows you to pick and continue to enjoy a favorite. Stuffed artichoke can't be beat for an appetizer and all of the pasta dishes are served with just the right spice. Alone or with a friend or family - I highly recommend Parm for a casual night out.

A Little Bit of Jersey in the City

By Susan M |

When you walk in, you'll recognize that this isn't a sophisticated Italian restaurant. But it's a great place for pasta or a sandwich, especially with a red sauce. Cheerful decor, friendly staff, and a good, filling meal make Parm a great place for dinner.

Delicious meal, will be back

Awesome food! The Carbone sauce was creamy and just a touch of zing, I wanted to drink it! Best salad, Sunday salad! delicious meal

Quick stop in the neighborhood

By jphinme |

We made this, by chance, our first stop in our new neighborhood. And we were thrilled. Staff found us a booth and waiters recommended the chopped salad and eggplant parm. Perfect size to share for two and delicious. And at a reasonable price with two glasses of wine.

Great atmosphere, good food

By Chloe7122 |

We went there for an early dinner with family. Staff was polite and gave good service. Food was good -- baked ziti was very rich. Portions are large. We didn't care for the garlic bread -- it was a little overcooked and the bread seemed to be what they used for sandwiches. Lots of room for tables and drinks arrived quickly.

Perfect eggplant

By Linda-Lucky13 |

This is quick traditional Italian food in an okay setting. The location is good. The staff are efficient and prices are reasonable by New York standards. Location on upper West Side is convenient. Would eat there again. Two in our party had sandwiches and said they were tasty as well.

Delicious Traditional Italian Food

We had the Eggplant Parmesan and the Chicken Parmesan, both of which were perfectly prepared and served with a crispy salad. Service was quick and friendly although they were very busy. Great location!
