omg! If you are a fan of thin coal oven pizza, stop the car, order a pie and eat it in the car.

By Charlie M |

Just great thin crust pizza - crazy inexpensive - order a pie and eat in the car. It was a must stop when bringing my kids back to their mother after they spent the weekend with me in the City. We would buy two pies and eat it in the car - while driving them home. forget atmosphere this is about pizza

A NYC institution

By JBO99999 |

Hands down the best pizza in NYC. I've eaten here dozens of times over the last 30 years and Patsy's on 1 Ave is the real deal. Best crust in the Tri-state, bar none. Make the trip up to Harlem and sit. The way pizza should be.

Great NYC pizza

By VPFLondon |

Found this place by chance on the way back from the Roosevelt Island cable car. The food was delicious, we had the fried zucchini and aubergine for starter followed by pizza. Great service and friendly staff, highly recommended.

Awful

By Lee H |

I really wanted to like this place based on Dave Portnoy’s review but the service was terrible. The person who took our order over the phone was rude and hung up on us multiple times. They only take cash when we come to pick up the pizza. What is this? 1900? Have you heard of Square? Then they messed up our order and gave us a cheese pizza when we ordered a pepperoni/mushroom pizza. Very disappointed.

It's Patsy's

By Sharon B |

The best brick oven pizza? Check. Eventual celebrity sitings? Check!! (I last saw Blake Lively and family there). Bottom line no one beats Patsy's when it comes to brick oven. No one.

The Best Pizza in the world!

By Christina C |

I have had pizza in many places Naples and Rome included. I have to Say Naples had the best, but Patsy's in NYC is just as good if not better. The coal fired brick oven cooks in five minutes and their famous Pizza Margarita comes to the table bubbling. The freshness is not lost from the sauce to the in house made Mozzarella. A large 12 slice pie for $18???? any day....

The best cheese pizza in Manhattan!

By Joshua G |

This is the ORIGINAL Patsy's, the one that Frank Sinatra used to go to, and where Francis Fort Coppola met with Marlon Brando to convince him to be in The Godfather. It's got an authentic old-school coal oven, tremendous old-world ambiance, and a wide and delicious Italian menu. It's also still retained its family restaurant feel despite the changing neighborhood around it. Their cheese pie is ridiculously inexpensive for the quality: the crust, sauce, and cheese are all amazing! If you're a fan of legitimate New York pizza, you must make the trip up here--try the real thing!

Great value old fashioned Italian joint in all of the best ways

By paddingtonNYC_Aurora |

Eggplant parm is incredible great clams excellent service old fashioned vibe my friend loved it so much he ordered multiple entrees to take home for a weeks worth of dinners!

If your in east Harlem

By Kencho2014 |

Patsy's is a neighborhood staple. The pizza is decent for a NYC slice and the pasta ok. The real charm of the place is its history. First ave and 117th was the land of the Italian mob and later Spanish Harlem. The neighborhood has seen an upswing in recent year. Stop by for a meal or a slice and get a side of history.

Great restaurant BUT

By IrisEr5 |

I love this restaurant the Pizza is the best and the pasta is amazing but in this hot day the A/C didn’t work so it was so hot we couldn’t eat. The waitress wasn’t so kind even not nice at all

Super-fresh puzza

By avapawac |

Simple but delicious pizza at this coal-oven pizzeria in East Harlem. Freshest tomato sauce I've ever tasted on pizza. Walk-up $1.75 slices. Excellent crust. Best ingredients.

One of the Finest

By Dudemius |

I've been here a few times over the years and am always knocked out by this amazing pizza. This trip I skipped the table service and fulfilled a long time goal - yes, a trip to the slice window! Queuing up with other slice seekers I soon had my prize, and once it was gone I had to go for another. I was thinking that's enough. But it wasn't. Back in line again and again until I couldn't take any more, and lumbered off to catch the 6 train downtown. If you like a very thin coal oven pizza that's got bubbles & char, Patsy's is a holy grail with a history that speaks for itself.

Great Flavor!

By Monica J |

True NYC pizza is served here. Fast and friendly service was also served. They have a space for pizza to go, a space for dinning in and a bar. All 3 are at the corner, side by side. I will be back for more!

The best pizza!

By Jodi Z |

We go here every year for my mother’s birthday. Today she is 87. Nothing compares to their pizza-thin, crunchy crust. Plain is perfect for me. Others in my family like pepperoni, mushrooms, and whatever else they come up with.

Celebrating a 16th birthday

By Terri H |

We live upstate and only get to NYC a few times a year, our granddaughter has only been there once for her 10th birthday. At the time she would never eat sauce, the waiter teased her and she still wouldn't try it, ate plain pasta. when we left he brought her a jar of sauce to take home. she never forgot. this past Friday we came to NYC for her 16th birthday and she wanted to go to Patsy's and again she got the royal treatment with desert, a candle and the happy birthday ... she now eats sauce. the food was great and the service , as always terrific

Great plain pizza, nothing else.

By DBLOJUNE |

They offer a great tasting, plain, NY style cheese pizza. Their pizza is true to the original recipe from decades ago. If your looking for other styles/ toppings, or any other dish, you'll have to visit their full restaurant next door.

The place for tastiest Pizza !

By kamakshi2015 |

This place offers the tastiest pizza you can eat . The branch located in Dean Street in Brooklyn is I went to eat . The pictures of the famous names of public figures are displated wall . The decor is striking - inviting - patio seating in the rear side is too pleasing ! The service is great , the pizza arrives in less then 10 minutes . The prices are pocket friendly .A large veg. pizza , coke and a glass of wine will cost you under $40. Must try it - only to come back if you like good pizzas .

No place for a lunch meal

By IowaJim2015 |

We traveled up to Harlem to have a hopefully nice lunch at Patsy’s but no go. We got there just before lunch and was told it doesn’t open until 4:30 by a older guy sitting in front of the restaurant. We found the place where you could buy a slice but couldn’t see that there was any seating available. We ordered two cheese slices and sat in found and ate our slice. My slice was nice and hot but very little if any cheese and all I tasted was the sauce. The crust was nice and light and tasty but sitting on a stoop wasn’t my idea of eating a piece of pizza for lunch. Oh well

nice takeaway pizza

By Dec L |

living around the corner from this place for two months. Was recommended and lives up to expectation.

Great Pizza around Harlem

By GavinWongUK |

The restaurant has been here since the 30’s and you definitely feel the charm of the place. Service was good, quick and attentive. The pizzas are great, bases are not too thick and toppings are not overloaded. Nice meal, would recommend if you’re in the area of east Harlem!

Basic!

By kameka |

First....the place gives no real direction where to enter...they have four to five entry points/service windows. For a first timer it moment to stand back and navigate the 150 foot (or more) store front. It became apparent they don't have dine in service until maybe later in the afternoon. We ordered a full pie at the to go area. It was ready fairly fast. A quarter of the pizza had burnt crust which was disappointing. The slices were thin and had a basic pizza taste. ....nothing exciting. A hungry person would have to eat two to three slices to be satisfied. I don't have ant interest in returning here for pizza.

Coal oven Pizza - no frills - no atmosphere - Just the best.

By Charlie M |

Thin crust coal oven pizza - just the best - no atmosphere but worth the trip - stop the car and eat the pie while you drive

Easy Family Lunch

By Patrick L |

Good pizza. We had 2 large pizzas for 6 of us. We also had the family Cesar salad. Nice NYC pizzeria. Not a tourist location. Wait staff was okay. After we ordered we did not see our waitress until we needed to hunt her down for our check. The busboy seemed to do all the work and he was attentive. I would return again if I was in the area.

Outstanding Pizza!

By Laura T |

My husband and I wanted an afternoon snack and glass of wine, so we ducked into the Patsy's on W 23rd. It was ideal! We live in Murray Hill and are now excited to try that location. The pizza was perfect: crust, sauce, cheese, basil. The house wine selection is good too.

THE Pizza!!!

By Marion L |

This is a very casual but so nice place!! Serious food! Very good and specially THE real pizza!! Last time I had such a good pizza was in Naples, Italy... Portions are huge, so if you are small size as me, share the pizza with someone, or take some away with you!!! A rella great place!

Great thin crust pizza and more

By Steve S |

Pizza places are a dime a dozen in NYC but my recent meal here was outstanding. Three of us shared the caprese salad which had large slabs of mozzarella and tomato. The salad had fresh pesto in the center of the salad. The one was plenty for three hungry adults. Next, we had the sausage and mushroom pizza- a large for we three as well. Upon first view the comment was that we would have leftovers but no way, we finished it with nothing to spare. You gotta try this spot when in the neighborhood.

Best NYC pizza

By hytaca |

I love this place! It's so traditional! The pizza is amazing! So light so good they have mora food options at the menu! Nutella pizza is my favorite!

Very fresh Pizza

By Rama M |

We had been to this place for our business lunch meet, Pizza was so fresh and tastes great. It has nice ambiance.

Best pizza ever

By Judy C |

Can't go wrong with pizza from here. One person can easily consume a whole pie by themselves. You won't find any other pizza like this here in NYC

Great classic NY pizza

By Jayonline |

We tried 2 types of pizza but I must say the plain cheese pizza pie was the best. It's just really good NY style pizza. We ended taking a pie home for the rest of the family. They have other items and food but we just stuck with the pizza. Definitely recommend Patsy's not sure why I had not tried it sooner.

Just ok for NY pizza

By 3RedDoxies |

Was so hoping for really good NYC pizza. We grew up in the NY area and the pizza from around here is always so good. Once we moved out we have not been able to find anything comparable to good old fashioned NYC pizza so when we saw Patsy's we thought they had been in business since 1933 (says it on the window) we thought it would be amazing. It's decent pizza, don't get me wrong, just that I think in NYC you can do better. Crust was undercooked and too soft in the center and it was just hard to eat a slice (you know, the "real" NY way where you fold it in half and eat it) - the center point was just so undercooked and moist any toppings on that part just fell off. It's not bad pizza, just not great. I think you can do better in NYC.

Great stop on our bike ride!

By Alexandluciesmom |

My husband and I did a bike tour that started in Harlem, went around central park, and back to Harlem. Our tour guide suggested we stop at Patsy's for an authentic slice of NYC pizza - he said it was the absolute best and he was right. It was really good, although the place is kind of a hole-in-the-wall. Although I think we were at the takeout part, not the actual restaurant, which I never went in so I have no idea if it's nice or not. The pizza was cheap - especially by NYC standards - $1.75/slice. The only possible complaint that I think you could have is that if you buy by the slice, you can't have toppings - only cheese. That didn't bother me one bit though. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the city.

The best pizza in the area, with particularly good crust

By BobGod8 |

There's something about Patsy's crust that gives it definition, makes it stand out. It's multidimensional, more than just a topping carrier like so many pizzas. Just the cheese pizza by the slice, very cheap, is the best in the area. I don't know what they do to it, but it's delicious.

Just so so

By Diner901 |

It took a long time after being seated before we were greeted by the waitress. The service was very slow . I ordered the veal parmigiana and pasta. The sauce was too sweet for my taste and the veal was dry and chewy. On a brighter note, the salads are beautiful and the rolls they offer on the table are light as air on the inside with a lovely crisp crust.

Great, thin-crust pizza

By Navy G |

I normally don't get excited about pizza as it seems to taste pretty much the same wherever you go. Patsy's, along with a few other joints, is a solid exception. Everything from the crust to the sauce to the cheese is amazing (it's not overly cheesy and has the right sauce balance). And at $11 per pie (cheese pie), its a hard deal to beat in NYC these days. Definitely try it out if you can!

Great Italian food in Manhattan

By Dante-Donna |

Great food and Pleasant staff at this restaurant, Nice restaurant all in all. Pizza is really tasty and the quality is very good.

Nice meal

By lovcoffee |

We ordered the large and the small pizza plus the large pizza and slso spaguetti with meatballs. Definitely order the lsrge the small is not good value. Service was pretty good. The spaguetti wss smallish but the meat balls tasted great. Pizza was very good.

Always on point!!!

I love this place!!! I have been going for years now and the food never lets me down. delightfully satisfying! A must go if you are visiting NYC

Great pizza!

By love2travel_wmybabes |

You come here for the pizza and nothing else. They certainly deliver on the pizza. Amazing crust, awesome sauce! One of the best I've had!!! Cash only.

Good old Patsys

By Art800 |

Finally had dinner at Patsy's. I have always only gone to this place for their slices, never sat down in the restaurant part. Very friendly staff, good drinks and good pies. Decided to order the spaghetti fra diavolo. It was tasty but nothing special had better elsewhere and large portions also. However did enjoy the pizza and the pasta. I would stick with getting pies instead of ordering dishes.

A local spot. Heavy Italian. Not for us

By Robert P N |

I am sitting up at 2 am. With a still heavy stomach. Too much cheese and sauce. We went out of our way to get there. Disappointed I would say it is a local Italian pub. Quick food. Most people most likely have their favorites and they stick with that. One and done for us Follow us @nickellfamilytravel

My favorite pizza in New York

By Greg G |

There are entire books written about the New York Pizza world. Through the years I've been to all the biggest contenders, Patsy's, John's, Ray's, Grimaldi's - and I prefer Patsy's. This East Harlem store is the original, and it's a bit less frantic and crowded than the other Patsy's branches, but they're all very good. The service is also better than at the other branches. What I usually order is a thin-crust-pepperoni pizza and Caesar salad. It's always done just right.

A little run down, nice pizza

By Livingcob |

It's kind of hard to find and out of the way. The food was nice and the staff were pretty standard. Prices were fair. Not an amazing experience but worth the money nonetheless.

Waste of time

By 770patricia1125 |

My husband suggested going here because it supposedly had a great reputation. It took us three subway lines to get there. The rigatoni a la vodka was pale and watery. The pizza was fair. The crust was not crisp and the sauce was so-so. They had no beer although it is listed on the menu. The service was not great. We weren't offered bread or water and beverage options were cans of soda. They may have been around for a long time but we won't be back.

The real Patsy’s

By Vc6535 |

We visited here on New Years Day for lunch. We had a great time and the pizza by far was the best we have ever had. A must visit place in New York

Love NY pizza

By Nicki B |

Love Patsy's in the Chelsea neighborhood of NYC. Dine in or take out,it's great NY pizza! When in Chelsea, check out Patsy's. It's a tradition

“Neighborhood Staple”

By Eddie S |

Patsy’s pizza is very good, may not be the best in NYC, but it is definitely worth a trip if you want a piece of NYC history. The take out prices are more than reasonable, especially for Manhattan. $1.75 per slice, $11.00 per pie. Additional toppings $3.00. Finally got to take the family there after passing the place by a number of times. They all loved the pizza. The place can’t be that bad as some say if it’s been there almost 90 years. Next time we may try the restaurant experience, but for now, the take out has never been disappointing.

If you like thin crust pizza, this is the place for you

By Charlie M |

Wonderful Pizza: thin, great sauce, you can eat a pie by yourself. If you don't want to eat in the restaurant, get a pie to go and eat it in the car.

Pure Heaven

By Kelsey R |

So there are a few things that I LOVE about this place. 1. The pizza is to die for. You can taste the family tradition within the sauce, fresh mozzarella, the fresh basil leaves - Everything about this pizza is perfect. I should note that it is thin crust so if you're a thick crust person, this isn't your place. 2. The customer service is top of the line. They're casual, friendly, and make you feel like you got invited to one of momma's dinners. 3. The appetizers...omg their appetizers. I'm literally starting to drool right now. That's how good this place is. 4. It's away from the hussle and bussle of NYC. Cons - 1. Their dessert is meh. The Cannoli was FANTASTIC but the cheesecake was way overdone. The cheesecake part of the desert actually tasted like it had been cooked. 2. It is cash only. However, there is an atm literally right next to the restaurant and the fee is like...a dollar or two. It's not bad if you come unprepared like I did. I've been here 5 times and make this mistake every. single. time. However, I love this place. It's clean, delicious, friendly, and traditional. It also uses the same coal fire over it used 80 years ago when it opened. I miss you, Patsy's. I'll see you in May.

Neighborhood gem

By KKua |

Pizza here is good. It's got the old school charm of tiled floors and checkerboard tablecloth tables. At 9pm on a Friday night, seems like the staff is not interested in working. Midway through our salad, we asked for second beverages. The waiter laughed and said we had the last 2 tumblers of iced tea and walked away. He didn't even seem interested in making a new pot of tea. As for the food, I've never had a bad slice here. There's no individually sold slice, so you'll have to share your entire pizza pie. Here's a good tip: sometimes it's cheaper to modify a pre-selected pizza topping combination than to add individual items.

Great thin crust pizza from a coal oven.

By Michael C |

Of all the pizza parlors in NYC, this is the best in my opinion. Either a quick slice from the takeout window or a sit down dinner in the dining room. In my circle of friends we call it "crack pie" as you can't have one slice or one pie (per person that is). A must if you are in NYC.

Too distracted to really appreciate

By Angie M |

We found this place from online reviews. It was ok. It was in the upper 70s when we in NYC and there was no air in this place. It was so hot I couldn't enjoy anything. My daughter said the pizza was ok but the service was just ok to me.

We didn't choose well...

By TPAnRox |

Stopped for a Thursday lunch. They started us with 4 warm rolls and olive oil. Three of us got lunch specials. The sandwiches were good with a nice salad. One baked ziti order was very generous. Nothing too spectacular. The table next to us ordered better, huge bowls of rich soups with a white pizza with plenty of basil.

Best pizza I ever had in my life

By laura_ville368 |

I haven't been to the restaurant much. I usually just get pizza from the pizzeria section because it is seriously the best pizza I've ever had.

Good, but not Great

By 808DM8 |

We went to Patsy's Pizza at the recommendation of our hotel concierge. Ordered a large pizza, rigatoni bolognese, and a salad. Thought that all of the food was good, though not exceptional. The pizza crust was slightly burnt so we didn't eat a couple of slices. The bolognese was okay, but again not exceptional. Servers were friendly and attentive. Not a bad place to dine, but there are so many other comparable places in the city.

This is the real deal

By JoMamma73 |

NYC pizza at it's finest. I'm a big critic- and I have my favorite Bronx shops. But Patsy's is great. Don't expect fancy decor or crazy dishes, just get a pie and enjoy!

Godfather

By chetnluz |

Patsy's original location in Harlem is one of my favorite pizza spots in the city, besides the delicious thin charred crust pizza the old dining room lined with celebrity pictures actually inspired the famous restaurant scene from the Godfather. Classic NY.

Pizza at its best!

By Xavier M |

our dearest friend who lived in NJ took us to this restaurant, the best pizza ever! we kept going to that restaurant the whole month we were at NYC!

Sunday pizza fest!!! Excellent!!!🍕🍕🍕

By msdet1529 |

Went there Sunday for the first time and it was one of the best!!! Thin crunchy crust, nice sweet sauce and nice mozzarella cheese. A beautiful day to take a ride for awesome pizza. Coal fired oven makes a difference. Highly recommend this place for first timers!!! Enjoy!!!🍕🍕🍕

great NY slice style pizza

By Ron T |

Second stop on a tour of great pizzerias in NYC. Loved the back story about this place. Pizza was authentic "NY style slice" - sorry I did not take a picture of it.

Patsys pizza Harlem

By ogjohnkim |

The most OG pizza in NYC / USA It’s 1 of 2 last Italian holdouts in Harlem. As far as I know Raos is the only other Italian. The pizza is unique because it makes NYC style (shredded mozzarella) in a brick oven. 99% of pizza slices in the city are cooked in a Bari oven usually. It’s a true historic landmark. I can eat a whole pie myself

Excellent calamari

By scjjmm |

The Pizza crust is excellent. On par with the best in Naples. And the calamari is excellent. Lightly breaded calamari rings fried to perfection with lemon. Restaurant is in an early 1900s era building. Floor tiles, bar and restrooms match the era. It is old and somewhat dusty. Service is decent but the food we had was excellent. Makes up for the older decor and decent service.

Pretty bland

By Barry M |

Saw the trip advisor sticker outside so ran in to get a quick slice of pepperoni and peppers. I have to say it was one of the most plain pizzas I've ever tasted. The cheese didn't taste too nice and it was soaked in oil. Also just fell apart when I took a bite. I wont be rushing back here any time soon as.

BEST PIZZA

By Trek320715 |

Regis Philbin said it time and time again, but until you go and experience this place you will never understand the yummy pizza it dishes out. Cash only and an old school vibe - a couple blocks up from the top of Central Park in the East Harlem area - look for the green awning. I only wish they shipped pizzas!!!

Excellent Thin Crust Pizza

By Joseph M |

Excellent Traditional NYC Thin Crust Pizza. Good Service. Good Value. Old school and dripping with pizza history. Off the beaten path. Glad we went out of our way to eat here.

My pizza flashbacks are amazing

By Sueflysby |

I keep wanting to go back here for another pie but that would involve a flight and a few hours. There's a large brick oven with a grungy takeout counter adjacent to the sit-down restaurant and from what I could tell, the place was cash only. Still worth the hassle of waiting in such a small, cramped space.

An Enjoyable Evening

By msa5757 |

Visited Patsy's this weekend before a show at the Barclay Center. With the extreme outside temperature few diners elected to be seated outside which made the wait a little extended. The manager did the best he could kept everyone updated as the evening progressed. Once seated, the wine we selected was delivered at room temperature and we have to wait for it be chilled. The food was extremely enjoyable and the service outstanding considering how busy the place was. Will be stopping by again soon!

If you want Pizza look no further

By paulukRishton |

Yes it is out of the way if you are staying in central Manhattan. BUT if you want to try the perfect New York pizza in an authentic old style Italian restaurant it is worth the trek into Harlem. About 10 mins walk from the nearest subway and on a cold wet November evening we were wondering whether we should have made the journey, but on entering we were met with a warm greeting and on seeing the pics of the number of celebrities that had visited (including Frank Sinatra) we thought that it must be special and it was in every way. Other things on the menu but you come here for the Pizza and it was as good as any i have had anywhere in the world. Large enough to share at a very good price. A very enjoyable evening and will definitely return if in New York.

Very tasty, very historical

By marchenko74 |

Pizza was great, they say they do it on coal!Service was good. The place has 84 years of history and lots of proofs of that on the walls) Loved it!

Class Act in Harlem

By Stan Tecza |

Picked up a pizza with meatballs, onions and ricotta. Pie was great ! Also got a chicken parm with croquettes and sautéed broccoli. Ordered on “Uber Eats” and they gave me a free entree of chicken parm for tomorrow. Ordered a meatballs dish too. Enjoyed. Hospitable inside also. Class Act.

Noot Artisan, but Oldschool in a good way

By Michael U |

Although the debate regarding where to find New York’s best Slice will never end it was a much simpler time when Pasquale Lanceri opened Patsy’s Pizza in East Harlem, the then-Italian neighborhood since labeled “Spanish Harlem” but his iconic Pizzeria still standing and serving what many consider a destination-worthy Pie plus several Red Sauce classics. Opened 1933 in the coal-oven tradition of Lombardi’s, the Pizzeria where Lanceri is said to have learned his trade, the original Patsy’s is located at 2287 1st Avenue and although current owner Frank Brija has expanded the brand across New York most connoisseurs agree there is no comparison between the others and what aged oven can produce. Minimally changed over the course of eighty-five years, a coat of paint plus perhaps some additional photos added over the years, it is upon entry that guests are greeted by servers sporting accents that almost seem put-on, the cash-only policy prominent on doors and menus though lower-than-average prices can easily see most guests sated for less than $15 including tax and tip. Divided across two rooms plus the kitchen, each long and narrow but brimming with history, it is from chilled cases that all Beverages save for Water are produced and although table Bread is apparently offered at dinner there was no evidence of such at noon. Adding a few daily specials to the Italian-American menu, though only one other table had ordered anything but Pizza, it was no more than fifteen minutes after seating that a large Pie arrived with Cheese, Sauce and sliced Meatballs, the ingredient quality certainly not that of newer artisanal joints but char prominent across the bottom and Crust capable of standing up to a fold despite being crisp and cracker thin from edge to center. Surprised to see a light-eating 11 year old ask for a second Slice, though the novelty of “New York Pizza” in New York certainly factors into the experience, it was with only one wedge remaining that two additional plates arrived, the Potato Croquettes finding favor amongst all whether solo or dipped in Tomato Sauce while Penne alla Vodka was a touch overcooked but otherwise enjoyable and more boozy than many for just $10.95.

Good pizza

By jackspades |

Stopped by after a recommendation from a friend. This is a good solid pizza. Nothing mind blowing but nothing you’d turn away from. This is a solid 3.5 stars

Pasta>Pizza

By Malana2523 |

So we went on a low key birthday party on a Tuesday evening (around 7-8pm) and got seated for eight imminently. Being that there were only two staff members service was very slow. We orders a little of everything and the pasta worth the money. The MANICOTII is something worth trying. But overall good food. If you're in a rush I wouldn't recommend it, and they only sell by the pie.

The real Patsy's

By ana carolina f |

Pizza here is so good that a lot of other places started to be named Patsy's. But don't be fooled, this is the real thing. Margherita pizza, yet simple, was delicious! It took a while to be served, to be honest, but it was still very good. The chocolate soufle was also amazing.

IMO, the best pizza in NYV

By Michael C |

If you like pizza, thin crust pizza, coal oven pizza, this is the place for you. Go to the take-out or inside for waiter service, it's the best. I won't let family or friends leave NYC until they've been here!

This place is a trip!

By Mike Hunt |

I went here while visiting my friend in East Harlem upon his recommendation. If you eat on the restaurant side, it is a trip to an era that existed about a 100 years ago when Patsy's was first a restaurant in New York. So dated is the interior, it seems like it is a facade and couldn't be from an actual era 90 or so years ago. I got my pie to go, the meatball. It was excellent and very reasonably priced for NY or any big city. There was a bit of a circus when you pick up to go orders and slices. An unhappy customer got mad at the Patsy's employees, and took her hand to sweep all of the condiments on the counter to the floor. Never a dull moment eating out in NY!

Excellent Pizza by the slice at this New York Institution

By Justin W |

I was taking a walking tour of East Harlem in what was the Italian section of Harlem and went to Patsy's for a quick slice of pizza for a snack. It was excellent. The sauce has so much flavor to it and it is not the usual thick New York slice. It is made in a coal oven and has a thinner crisp bottom and crust to it that is light as a feather. The cheese is a fresh mozzarella, which makes a big difference in the taste and texture than a traditional slice. Overall excellent flavor and consistency. The slices section of the restaurant is not the fanciest and the guys speak mostly Spanish but nothing gets lost in the translation and on a nice day, just take it to go and eat it on the street. It is worth the trip to East Harlem.

Patsy's Pizza in East Harlem

By MSO70 |

Patsy's Pizza has the absolute best coal oven pizza in New York City. We shared a Caprese salad and we truly stuffed ourselves. The service was fast and we didn't have to wait too long. Remember this is a cash only restaurant.

Only whole pizza available

By Nemobabyfish |

We wanted only half pizza but there was no such option. So we ordered a coal oven thin crust with sun dried tomatos and ricotta cheese. Tasted good but the pizza was huge and 2 of us couldn't finish it.

Thin Crust - Very Good Visit

By EastCobbFamily |

We had plans in Harlem to go to the Apollo Theater so it made sense to head uptown early to get a taste of this historic pizza place. We focused on the simple and ordered the Cheese Pie. It was truly thin crusted, perfect balance of sauce to cheese. The wait staff was attentive and engaging. We took the M15 select from midtown and were there in no time at all (117 and 1st Ave). It is out of the way, but that also adds to the adventure. Why go for a copy when you can have the original.

My husband loves this place, I had a salad with chicken l, they have very good vegetarian options, this place is a must go if you are in the New York area!

Overpriced burned pizza

By Community Watcher |

This Pizza place has changed management and staff, so its pizza doesn't taste like before. Sad... Plus all sorts of lawsuits it involved, things are not like before. Ordered pizza twice, every time burned. I don't want to eat cancer loaded pizza so I am not going there anymore. Farewell...

Can't believe I never wrote about this place lol

By hdelacruzbello |

I've been sporadically buying pizza at this place for over 10 years and enjoy these thin crust, slightly burned slices lol. Ordering can get a little tricky if more than 5 people are there to order, since it's quite small area. The staff does seem to be a bit rude sometimes but I still enjoy the pizza.

excellent RESTAURANT (in addition to pizza)

By Maria D |

I'm surprised most of the reviews are only about the pizza (which is excellent, yes). What seems to get less coverage is the restaurant itself, which offers an amazing, old-school NYC Italian-food experience. This is the heart of historical Italian Harlem, and Patsy's (which has been here for over 80 years) is *the* place to come to enjoy this unique genre of cuisine (which is slowly disappearing in NY, being supplanted by Italian-Italian cuisine; the only other place is Rao's, but try getting in...). When you come here, you cannot miss the vongole alla marinara appetizer, or the ravioli (primo). It's all super fresh, and the experience is like going back in time (WAY back). For those of you who shop at nearby Costco, stop in here for lunch beforehand. And it's incredibly cheap for a New York City restaurant, to boot!

Best pasta EVER!

By Misctraveller |

Highly recommend a visit, great for families and really good value for money. They offer family bowls of pasta for the whole family to share which I think really adds to the experience. Meal for 5, $45! Kids loved it.

Just Wasn't Patsy's Night

By Jacksonville Joe |

Well I had to give 2 stars because it smelled pretty good but we didn't even eat. When we walked in it was clear the air conditioning was broken on a hot May night. I get it. Things happen but we were seated and for about 10 minutes no one even came to take our order or tell us they would be right with us. . As we continued to look around the Restaurant it was just old, seem a little dirty, and as the clock ticked on we just felt let's just try another place. We made the right decision. I gave this place two stars only because I have eaten at the Patsy's in midtown and it was great. If this place renovated and got back to its roots it may be able to resurrect its past glory. Maybe. If it doesn't be prepared for an old restaurant that looks old and tired. For now, I bet this place is hit or miss and don't think the atmosphere is going to blow you away. Just trust me. If you want to eat at Patsy's go to the Midtown location. That place is on its game. The penne with vodka sauce was awesome.

margherita pizza

By Willowemoc D |

I am a big fan of their pizza and have enjoyed every bit of it until today. The Basil was not fresh and so bitter. I could not believe it was ok for the worker to make it with an old ingredient. next time I will make sure they have a fresh basil.

Best Pizza in NYC!

By Eric H |

Great little restaurant with a lot of history. Menu is legit Italian; great selections. The pizza is awesome even if you don't like charcoal fired wafer thin pizza! The Pizza takeout is open late and you see quite a few characters including famous and not so famous. One caveat: cash only, so come prepared.

Delicious pizza but take it to go!

By Sarah P |

Oh my gosh…I’ve never had such good food with such terrible service. It was a slow Saturday night with plenty of servers. We ordered a large pizza with Caesar salad and calamari. As soon as we got our food, the server never returned. At one point, all three servers were on their phones in corners of the restaurant. We had to flag down servers for a box and then again for our check. When we received our check, it was the wrong order. Our check had been paid by another table ($5 more than their check) so we paid theirs which was less. Lol, even the discount didn’t make me improve this review. However, the pizza is some of the best I’ve ever eaten! Finally, the restaurant had no working AC so we were uncomfortably hot.

The gold standard!

By Debbie B |

This is how pizza should taste! We came here on a food tour and I’m so glad we did! The chefs surely have mastered the art of pizza making!

A Gem in Harlem

By Emil H |

I had been longing to Visit this Restaurant for the Longest. I was not disillusioned by what I Found. From setting foot into the place the Waiter quickly greeted us and took care of us during the 2 hours We spent there. Being from that area and now vacationing there I know How a Real NYC Pizza tastes like. Well My God the Pizza in this Place Really Made My Day and It's by furthest the Best Pizza I've ever tasted... Will return next Year...

Average But Not Better

By Bob D |

I had a solo dinner at Patsy's around the middle of August while in from out of town. I had pizza at this restaurant once before and maybe I should have ordered it again. Instead, I had the veal parmesan and spaghetti. While the veal was very tasty with lots of cheese, the portion was not very large and the spaghetti sauce was pretty bland (I like a more zesty sauce). The bread was great but the salad was a la carte which drove up the bill. Not bad--just not great.

Fabulous Pizza!

By vgood2 |

We stumbled upon Patsy's by accident after taking our kids to Dylan's Candy Bar down the street. We had been wanting to have our kids try authentic NY style pizza and Patsy's did not disappoint. The pizza was outstanding and the restaurant itself is warm and comfortable. The service was the only downside. While our waitress was sweet, she never came back to our table to refill drinks and we had to keep trying to find her, including asking for the bill. The restaurant was not busy so I am not really sure why she was checking on us. I would highly recumbent Patsy's for the food, and our server was nice just not really good at what she does.

Best Pizza in NYC

By Kristy S |

We always visit Patsy's in Harlem when we go to New York. The pizza is fired in a coal oven, the crust is perfection, the sauce is sublime, the cheese and pepperoni are added with a careful hand. The restaurant seems to usually be slow with only a few tables being taken--but Patsy's deserves to be full all of the time! It may be a little trek from the subway, but totally worth the walk! It truly is the best pizza in New York. Be advised--Patsy's only accepts cash.

Good basic italian

By K3322NTelizabethm |

We had shared a calzone and some fried zucchini. Both were great. I like the way the zucchini was sliced very think and then fried. The calzone was definitely large enough for two and was delicious. It was a relatively busy night but the service was efficient.

Best pizza so far...

By Naida N |

My cousin took us to try the New York style pizza and to see their 80 years old oven. The pizza was amazing!! In the walls they have photos of the original place when they open and all the celebrities or politicians that have gone to Patsy's. The price is also really good for been in New York.

Pretty Good - But We Didn't Get the Pizza!

By Matthew R |

My wife and I popped in for a quick dinner prior to theater on a Friday evening around 5:30. It was located across the street fro the apartment we were staying at at 1st and 70th. Our host highly recommended it. WE did enjoy our dinner. I ordered the chicken parm, but they brought out veal parm instead. Luckily, I also like veal parm and it was very good. Our waitress did offer to correct, but I really didn't care so we passed. My wife's dish was just OK. I think it was Chicken Marsala. The pizza did look really good; which we had tried it. Bread was good. Salad was good. If you're in the area of 70th and 1st, not a bad option; but like many other reviews, agree it's not a destination restaurant!

Very good Margarita Pie.

By Dakota |

Stopped in for lunch and asked our waitress for a recommendation. she suggested the Margarita pie and it was very good. The sauce was excellent and there was just the right amount of cheese. The crust was also good.

Lovely dinner

By katiemox |

Service was very good - our waiter was attentive and brought complimentary fresh bread. Although neither of us had the famous pizza we both enjoyed our dinner despite feeling it a bit pricey for steak with pasta and salmon with potato croquettes and broccoli. Would have liked to have tried the pizza! And the decor was great!

Didn't live up to the hype

By mowt |

Waiting over an hour for a pizza was a rather frustrating experience, heightened by the fact that we had to ask for an explanation of the inordinate delay. We thought that at a minimum some bread would have been brought to the table to keep us from fainting from hunger...that was not to be. When the pizza did arrive, it offered me no more than many other pizzerias...even less.

Pizza history

By Analia G |

This spot in NYC East Harlem has 2 parts, restaurant and classic very old school pizzeria. I've only been to the pizza joint. Each Clive costs 1.75. It's a traditional walk up window. Get your slice or a whole pizza with toppings. It's hot, no wait, you put your toppings on and go. That's NY pizza.

A trip back in time to real thin base Italian pizza and OG ambience

By AADDH |

Fantastic authentic pizza, thin base and great toppings. We also had the fried zucchini, and a tomato & mozzarella salad as appetisers- all were great, and portions were generous. With hindsight, we should only have ordered 1 appetiser and 1 pizza between 2 of us! Service was great- the staff were so friendly and chatty, and two of them came out to apologise at different times when there was a small delay bringing out our pizza (caused by how busy they were for Puerto Rica Day). The only slight thing to bear in mind is that they are cash only, so we had to pop to the atm over the road to pay the bill. But it was not a big deal really, and actually added to the fantastic OG vibe of the place, as did the photos of all celebrities eating there over the decades including Frank Sinatra, Al Pacino & Ryan Reynolds. (And contrary to previous reviews, the ac worked perfectly!) We loved this place & will definitely come back

Great food

By FrankL3333 |

Came to patsy's for a lunch meeting. First impressions was, "a cute little place in mid-town." The pizza was great. Love the crust from the brick oven. Cesar salad was good with great flavor. Unfortunately, the plate was very hot from just being washed, so the salad was not as good as it could have been. The service was a tad bit slow, the waitress finally brought our drinks after our salad had arrive. I am glad the busboy had delivered water. Al in all a good visit. The pizza made up for where the other fell short

Lunch in New York

By Mama H |

Delicious original New York style pizza at its best. Cooked in a coal oven, brought out quickly, piping hot and delicious. Bring cash as no credit cards are taken. Do not expect to zip in and out when eating in the dining room, service is at a relaxed-take your time pace.

Best pizza!

By Chinchitchlud |

We stumbled upon this cosy pizza place this evening. Service and food great we ordered a small pizza which was more than enough for me and my mum (we toom 3 slices home!) Pizza tastes fresh and homemade.. we also ordered the Seafood Linguine which was lovely. Very reasonable too, food and 2 alcoholic drinks was 65 dollar's. Ill be back!

Good

By N Radic |

Nice old atmosphere nice staff and pizza is good not terrific. Good neighborhood spot but would not travel far for it

Love the thin crust pizza

By Dmac825 |

Love the thin crust Margarita style pizza. The sauce was perfect and amount of cheese not overbearing. Pleasant server and nice old school decor.

The Best New York Pizza In Manhattan Bar None

By shadows830 |

There's a lot of controversy on who makes the best pizza in Manhattan in particular and yes there are so many great places to choose from. Most of the old timers (real NY'ers) that I know agree hands down it's Patsy's up in East Harlem.I've been coming here for decades and the the only thing I wish is that they were closer to me,it is a hike to go there, but it's more than worth it. Funny thing is they do serve other food too,but there's an old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and I come here for my pizza fix and always a worthwhile trip and has been for many, many years.

Awful service, a relic of the past

By Nathan B |

Rude, unhelpful service might have been in a thing in the 1950s, in which case Patsy's offers an authentic dining experience. Horrible from start to finish, this establishment clearly trades on its history and ignores the present. Best avoided under all circumstances.

Great NYC Pizza

By no buffet for me |

How can you go wrong when you walk in the joint and there's a picture of Frank Sinatra hanging on the wall. Great brick oven pizza with and expanded menu cash only. I was a NYC Firefighter in Harlem and we use to go to Pasty's all them time. Fast, thin crisp crust and great atmosphere for a true NYC pizza experience

Gross and Disappointed

By travelinggirl85 |

I don't even know where to begin. First, my family and I planned a trip to the city to visit the Natural History Museum. Prior to our trip, I did a lot of research for lunch/pizza places nearby the museum where we could grab a bite to eat that would be quick and easy especially with 2 little kids. After reading plenty of reviews on trip advisor, we decided Patsys was the place...WRONG! It is a very easy walk from the museum, however once inside we were highly disappointed. I don't know if NYC people have lower standards for dining out or even what good pizza and service are, but it was just upsetting we ate here. It's a very small, poorly lit restaurant with very dated decor and it gives you the feeling it just isn't clean. Our waitress was so rude and unprofessional, it's laughable talking about her. If I knew her name, I'd mention it, but we wanted as limited contact with her as possible. She lurked around a lot, standing and chatting with another waitress, laughing as though they were making fun of the customers (that's the vibe we got), but was not attentive at all. We had to reiterate multiple times we all wanted refills on our drinks and she brought our party of 4 one refill...1 cup for 4 people! Either she was high or extremely stupid. Then standing right there by the bar with her fellow waitress just after delivering our pizza, SHE TOOK OFF HER SHOE AND SMELLED IT!!! My husband and I just looked at each other thinking what the heck is wrong with her. Both her and the other waitress just laughed. Then within 30 seconds of putting her shoe back on, she went to deliver another tables food. We each only got 1 napkin even after asking too many times for more. They have 2 separate bathrooms, each with 1 toilet, neither with any soap or hand towels/drying methods. The 1 bathroom had no toilet paper and the other had 3 whopping sheets! Literally right next to the bathrooms was the kitchen, which I've seen McDonald's kitchens cleaner than this and smack dab in the middle of the kitchen was what looked like the entire staff sitting at a large table having a great time laughing and talking loud, certainly not attending to their customers, not to mention it made it extremely uncomfortable to use to bathroom because the doors/walls were very thin. The doors to thr bsthrooms barely locked and were so dirty im surprised they weren't shut down based on that alone. So despite the horrendous service, our pizza was nothing spectacular either. I've had better thin greasy cheesy pizza many other places. If this was an authentic NYC pizza place, it's no wonder why NYC has such a bad reputation.

Pizza Anyone?

By JTreborM |

Great choice of Toppings and sizes. Failsafe pizza eaterie for a new kid on the block. On the day I visited the service was not 100%. My tip mirrored that! Couldn't fault the food though.

Nice Staff-Good Food

By sheilal921 |

We went to Patsy's for a late lunch with a toddler and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The food arrived quickly and they were very cool about the mess left on the floor. The thin crust pizza was delicious but everyone also enjoyed the Baked Ziti. Individual and Family-size portions are available.

Classic, cash only, old New York eating establishment

By KKua |

They won't seat incomplete parties at peak dinner hours, so best to arrive early. Their dining room spans 3 storefront footprints of 3 railroad apartment buildings. Somehow, the pizza from other locations taste different than this original location. The center of the pizza is not as soggy as the downtown locations and the sauce/cheese is spread far to the edge of the crust. As for the patrons, lots of 2nd and 3rd generation Italian-American dine here. They are the staple to their dining scene. If you cannot get a table, order a takeout pizza and eat in the car. In warmer months, you can bring the pizza to community gardens on 117th between 1st and Mt Pleasant Ave and have a lovely picnic.

Good Food - pricey

By LindySavannahGA |

The food was good - not exceptional but the prices were outrageous! It was a nice, cozy atmosphere with great wait staff. Just feel it was overpriced.

Awesome!

By Gunz |

What can you say, this place is a classic. An old favorite of Frank Sinatra. After his last show at Madison Square Garden, he said he's going to Patsy's! Despite all the fame, the pizza and other food really is amazing. They do a great job and have other locations around the city.

The real Italian pizza in the East Harlem

By Acidov |

We came a long way from Manhattan to East Harlem to try this famous pizza. The effort definitely paid off. The main restaurant was closed as we came very early, luckily we were able to buy pizzas to go. All of us ordered just regular margherita which we ate sitting on the bench at the nearby park. The dough was thin and crispy on the bottom with a little bit of chew as it held the ingredients and the richness of the tomatoes paired well with the mozzarella. A truly feast for the palate!

If you want great pizza (And Delivered!)

By 2toots |

Staying at the Waldorf, we just wanted a good, no, a great pizza. We found it in Patsy's. Super good salads, pizza and main dishes. We've ordered delivery from them for the past 4 years and can't wait for out next trip.

Pizza to die for

By Ms_CeCe50 |

When someone says Pizza there is only one place that comes to mind in NYC. Patsy's. Thin crust heavenly sauce and cheese. Its perfection. When I see the Patsys Pizza box I am doing my happy dance in my mind!! Go and be ready for an experience that can not be duplicated.

Best pizza ever!

By SusanHinCaryNC |

Went to the one on 23rd street - was right across the street from an event we attended for the New Yorker Festival. I don't usually like sausage on my pizza, but this was the best I'd ever had. Still thinking about that pizza every time I order Papa John's back at home. Definitely check it out!

Best pizza EVER!

By Gretvaloth |

First time trying pizza in NY & friend said well, then we must go to Patsy’s! But it had to be this original shop, not the one downtown. I wasn’t disappointed; best pizza I have ever had! Sauce just right, not too tangy, slightly chunky, but not too much. Cheese just right, crust perfect, not chewy like pizzas in Florida. Def recommendation to anyone who lives or visits !!!

Excellent pizza slice

By Justin W |

I was at the Dancing of the Giglio on Sunday and after the first two lifts were over, I had to get something to eat and remembered Patsy’s around the corner. The brick oven pizza here is excellent. The pizza is perfectly cooked and the combination of fresh tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella gives it the best taste. The pizza is also reasonable at $2.50 a slice which is pre-COVID pricing is very fair. The place is very old-fashioned and could a splash of paint but that is its charm after all these years. The pizza is still the best.

Trying to fool diners

By P T |

Reasonable good at the cost. Restaurant tries to fool diners by adding gratuity as food line items under Gra. Totaling the gratuity with food, then adding sales tax on top, leaving the tip area blank. I am sure they many diners were fooled into tipping twice.

Just Good

By Elizabeth Dickens |

There was a wait upon arrival, almost an hour. We walked around as its located very close to Times Square. When we returned we were sat quickly. Service was good and food was good. Due to the wait we were expecting something spectacular but it was just ok. I wouldn't suggest waiting an hour. It's good, far from GREAT!

Best Pizza Ever

By killbill47 |

I grew up on this pizza since I was born and raised in the neighborhood from birth to the latter part of my teenage years. And yes, it's safe to say that I am being bias since from the old neighborhood but I've had pizza all over the world to include Italy when I was stationed in Europe and ironically, Patsy's pizza still holds the title. Overall, great sauce on a thin crust which can best describe the consistency of this delicious pizza melting in your mouth like cotton candy.

Classic NY Pie

By StarfishandSeashells |

My daughter and I walked here (20 min) from 125th St Station and then walked to the 116th St Station (10 minutes) when leaving. Service was excellent. The margherita pie was classic NY. We split that and a salad.

Great neighbourhood pizzeria

By Tripster1200 |

Friendly service and fresh pizzas. The place is busy with locals rather than tourists so you're getting an authentic Pizza. Would return of in the neighbourhood.

Massive Pizza!

By Neil P |

Very good food, we shared 2 x 17 inch pizza's between 4 of us which was more than enough, quality was very good but when in New York expect to pay big prices! 2 pizza, an antipasti to share , 3 cokes and a small beer was $130 including tip. Wowzers as inspector gadget used to say!

The best

By rafi p |

The best pizza in town, 86 year old pizza shop, $11 for a whole pie (8 slices), super thin crust, cooked to perfection, in about 3 minutes! Toppings are $3 bucks, 100% recommended!!!!

Nice little restaurant

By ghettogalle |

Been there on the first night of our New York trip. Great pizza for a good price. Service was very good.

yummy pizza and ravioli

By ecladybird |

the service wasn't the friendliest but our son was asleep in the stroller, at first I thought they were going to make us wake him up but they found us a table that the stroller would fit, we were next to other families and it was a little loud but the fact that they let us roll him on in means the world to us so we could sit through the meal... they could work on their people skills but the food was very good and it was walking distance to our hotel. we weren't disappointed.

Classic Pizza

By WilSc |

Travelled across town just to experience Patsy’s pizzas and was not disappointed. Decent sized pies washed down with a bottle of red wine. Well worth the journey

delicious pizza

By livelife h |

Man this place has great tasting it was so good that it doesnt need toppings. You can literally can just eat a cheese pizza

Step Back in Time

By jeff6 |

A fantastic choice if you'd like to be transported back to when the Chairman of the Board ruled the airwaves and a good meal for two could be had in New York for under $50. Nothing fancy -- just excellent pizza, salads and other traditional dishes -- served by a fun, all-knowing wait staff. Also dig the tile floors and old-time photos lining the walls. Cash only.

Great Pizza and setting

By Anguishedbob |

I've eaten here a couple of times on business and pleasure. It's a good place for both. Nice atmosphere to sit as a couple and busy enough to sit alone and not feel out of place. The pizza is excellent, lots of fresh buffalo mozzarella and basil on our pepperoni. The crust was firm in the middle of the pizza which for me was better than some of the soggier thin crusts I have had. Great flavour. Will be back.

Good pizza

By LSBRN |

While on vacation in NYC this past week, my teenage son had one request; to try a lot of different pizza places. So, I did my research online and our first stop was Patsy's on the upper east side. The neighborhood was a bit sketchy walking from the subway to the restaurant, I wouldn't do it at night time. The pizza however was worth the trip to East Harlem. Upon arrival, it appeared there was only one person working in the restaurant other than the cook. We were informed only pizza was available for order, which was fine. We had a Margherita pizza, and loved the crust and simple flavors. The service was great, and kudos to the waiter who was still smiling in spite of being in the middle of a hot mess. I would go back for the pizza, and would like to try some other dishes they serve. Just a tip, they are a cash only business.

Great meal, atmosphere and service

By Realtai |

Wonderful food, delivered quickly and with wonderful service from a lovely guy. Always attentive service with a smile and with free drinks at the end!

The BEST Pizza Ever!!

By Holdensix |

I have been to Patsy's hundreds of times and it is the best pizza, pasta and pasta y fagiol!! Patsy's will be the perfect place for friends, couples, families and solo visits. I crave their pizza and have to get my fix every time I am in the city. GO TO PATSYS!!!

Delicious, and a semi-classic

By Vladimir S |

This is a very cool, older, classic NYC pizza joint. And it's delicious! I'm not entirely sure of the history of the Patsy places... but apparently this is one of the older encarnations before they separated. It's not my favorite pizza in all of NYC, but it is a very solid and consistently delicious one. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Same great pizza

By Rick+Jan |

Have been many times. Still some of the best pizza in the city. Small place and older but still puts out great pizza. Used to be bigger but they gave up one side of the building and the outside tables. They do have an upstairs that have a couple tables by the Windows. Ask for those.

Classic NYC Pizza

By Steve C |

This is the pizza I grew up with. Very thin, crisp crust, real tomatoes, excellent mozzarella, basil, and no toppings. Although I think Nunzios and Joe and Pats on Staten Island are better, if you're on the upper, upper East Side, the pies here are excellent and really indicative of what true NY pizza should be. And the coal ovens used here give it a slightly different and unique flavor that is very tasty, If you're from out of town, you should definitely trek up here for the real deal.

Pizza was good, everything else lacking

By JasperRoma |

We unfortunately came when there was only one waiter. 2 hours for 4 pizzas, one without prosciutto, final one was completely burned. By the way, cash only. Cost of the full pies is already higher than others with comparable quality and so really? Landmark or not, we won't return.

Original NY Home of Thin Crust Pizza

By Giovanni |

I have been going to the original Patsy's Pizza located on First Ave. (bet 117&118 streets)this is the only Patsy's that sells by the slice($2.25)but if it cost more like other so-called Best Pizza slice that would not matter. This is in my opinion the best thin crust slice or pie that ever was made, dating back to 1933 this claims to be the original Neapolitan style Tomato Pie introduced straight from Naples,Italy,The sauce & cheese+secret herbs like basil& oragano cannot be matched,If you want full Italian meals in a waiter service the Patsy's restaurant/bar right next door to this connecting little joint that has served me well for about 50 years!

Great New York Style pizza

By SunshineGirl421 |

Patsy's has really fantastic New York style pizza- better than most of the other places in Manhattan that we've tried. I'd also recommend the fried mozzarella as an appetizer- it's great! If you don't mind venturing up to Harlem, you really won't be disappointed. There are plenty of tables and the atmosphere isn't loud and crowded like so many other places in Manhattan. Very family friendly.

Pizza is one of the best, ambiance possibly the worst

By BillDoctor |

This pizza is 9.5/10. Thin, slightly burnt, very good cheese and sauce, consistent for past 35 years that I have been stopping there. I can't eat less than 4 slices! Neighborhood is a little rough but can double park and eat standing up at the counter. Not the usual generic pizza that you get most other joints.

Paty's at 2nd and 69th

By James P |

Visited Paty's at 2nd and 69th. Pizza and salads were good, but service was horrible. Recommend ordering food to go to avoid that problem

Amazing Pizza

By Keesar |

If based just on the pizza and caprice salad, this place would be a 5. The pizza was of a generous size and the ingredients were fresh. The crust was cooked perfectly. Truly outstanding and I am fussy. The caprice salad was a thing of beauty and very tasty. I went for the lasagna which a good. There was an absence of cheese between layers of pasta. It just seemed there could have been more ingredients between the layers like Mom used to make it. This was definitely home made but was lacking something. Service was excellent and the greeter was very friendly. The staff made us feel like family. They were happy to see us and it was genuine.

Great Old School Place

By rottentalkie |

Patsy’s makes one of the best pizzas in NYC, hands down. Very nice step back in time atmosphere, attentive service (better to be there on an “off hour” to really enjoy it) and aside from the pizza the sides, appetizers and pasta dishes are spot on. The three of us split the clams marinara (great sauce) caprese salad, spaghetti and meatballs and the classic cheese pie and were plenty satisfied. The pie is so good I would be afraid I’d ruin it by putting even one topping on it. The prices are right too. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Harlem.

Burnt.

By amandatavarez6k |

The pizza tasted just the way it looks, burnt. The pizza is usually good here but clearly the workers were too lazy to clean the oven causing the bottom of the pizza to burn.

Classic East Harlem Pizzeria

By SDK_CAN |

Plenty of locals and NYPD eating great Margherita pizzas in this large classic Italian restaurant. The Patsy's is part of NYC pizza history but is a bit of a crosstown hike from the subway but there are lots of cabs available out front.

overrated

By mitan1 |

They are spoiled, the people there. If you're going to a pizza place in NYC with your kids you know this feeling and you're prepared to endure the condescending glances and gestures of the waiters around, always not too happy you don't get four large pizzas or why not five, just to please them and possibly wipe out that thin descending smile from angles of their lips. And my wife made another mistake: she failed to order wine. And I remained with just a beer. Too bad. And I had some problems with the olives: the cheapest hard black olives, precut in the large jars. So it was just another unpleasant experience in a New York cheep restaurant – cheap not because you pay little but because of the manner you've been treated.

Traditional coal oven pizza

By ddpoodle |

Got the 13 inch w prosciutto de parma, it was excellent. Neighboring tables got the family style pasta dishes that looked amazing and certainly looked as though they could feed 4-5 as noted on the menu. Expect a noisier atmosphere during peak times due to close tables.

What terrible place to eat unsanitary pizza with terrible hospitality. Food was good in the 70s now a junkie hang out. Plus fake Italian trying to make food! SMH

Great NY Pizza

By 2-Lane-Traveler |

We were looking for pizza one night, the hotel concierge suggested Patsy's. Turned out to be a good choice (only a 2 block walk). Good NY Pizza and friendly service. The restaurant is a bit run down and could use a remodel. Especially upstairs and restrooms.

Go To Pizza Spot

When ever we are near Patsy's we say let's go to Patsy's. I like their pizza better than their pasta dishes which are decent, but their pizza is always good.

GREAT PIZZA FOR THE PRICE

By F00dG0urmand |

For the price you pay, this is great value. They are very consistent and deliver high quality pizza for an affordable price. My kids love this place.

Great

By maryaling |

We all loved the pizza! Great place with lots of history. I had the chicken piccata with a side of pasta marinara. YUMMY!!! The Della casa salad was also delicious!!! Loved it. If we are ever back I would definitely go back. Very family friendly.

We stumbled upon Patsy's Pizzeria the first night we arrived in NYC. The food was excellent, the service was great, and we really the authenticity of the city by just being in the building. Our hotel was about 2 blocks away and we chose to eat at Patsy's THREE times. With the variety of menu items, the excellent thin crust pizza, and the family friendly prices, we had to go back.

Classic

Just has my first slice ever. After dropping my bacalaito in the street by accident, I searched for a cheap place selling finger food. Patsy's fit the bill. Cooked in a industrial-looking oven, this place is a throwback. Pies for $11 and slices for $1.75, which is a NY deal these days. Thine first notices the slices are smaller than usual. I bought one, gulped it down, then bought another. The thin, soft crust and no-nonsense cheese and tomato sauce is what makes the pie. It's not greasy like most slices. After it went down, I felt satisfied and will definitely go back...maybe with friends...for a pie!

Old School Pizzeria

They accommodated our large party (8 + baby). Waitress was seasoned professional. Pizza was delicious. Prices were reasonable. ($24 for large pizza). Decor is dated but it gives it a classic feel. Place has been around since 1933! Just go!

Great New York thin crust pizza.

There are still a handful of old time classic New York pizza restaurants. Patsy's is among the best. This is the kind of place that made New York famous for pizza.

worth it

being italian I am very picky when you talk about pizza, but -i have to say that this was good. I like the fact that you can come up with your own pizza choosing the ingredients. We went to the place around 9pm and it was about to close, nonetheless it took a while for the pizzas to arrive.

Patsy's is an icon for a reason.

Patsy's in Harlem is an iconic NYC pizza place. Like many old and iconic NYC haunts, the walls are covered with black and white photos of the celebs who have come in over the years. Maybe this is or has become cliché but don't let that turn you off. There is a reason all of the celebs have come in. It is a great place for a casual bite to eat with great food and drink, great service and enough atmosphere to last, hopefully, forever. We reserved the "back room" with a group of friends from all over the country along with a film crew who were making a documentary about what we do together. The staff made us feel like we were at home. They did all we asked while staying out of the way as much as they could. Whether you just need pizza and a drink or you need a place to hang with friends for an evening give Patsy's a go.

Did not take my food allergy seriously

They did not take my food allergy seriously - I very clearly specified my limitations, ordered the safest thing on the menu, and they promised I'd be good to go. The food I got I could not eat and they were very rude about taking it back.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!

THE GOOD: by far THE BEST pizza...EVER! THE BAD: they only take cash. THE UGLY: more round tables...get rid of the square ones.
