Groupon Experience - Excellent

By ServiceMatters86 |

I found the restaurant on Groupon. The service was excellent and the choices fantastic. There was something for everyone in my family, even my picky youngest son.

Pleasant surprise

By Brideriz |

We had just arrived to the city and were looking for a place to eat. My husband looked on Groupon and found an offer from Paul's. We called for reservations and they were booked. Ten minutes later I suggested he call and make reservations for the following night and when he did, the hostess recognized him from the earlier call and told him she just a cancellation for this evening and off we went. Service was good, and food was delicious. We ordered fried calamari, pizzas, eggplant with pasta, veal, and I had black linguini with shrimp. Every morsel was delicious! Shrimp was fresh. Sauce was excellent. I left nothing on my plate. Nor did anyone else. As I said earlier we saved money with a Groupon but honestly, if we paid full price the food would have been worth it! Wait staff was pleasant as well. The only thing they could have improved on was the bread before dinner being heated ( it wasn't) but that saved me from eating more than I should have anyway. I would definitely go back again.

Good food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere

By Ken H |

Ate lunch and dinner here. Personal pizza was excellent for $9. My wife said the burger ($8) was one of the best she's had. Liked it so much went back after the show for dinner. Staff was very accommodating when my wife went off the menu to order. They could have used one more person on the wait staff as the waiters doubled as bartenders. Overall an enjoyable experience at both the bar and restaurant.

Meh. Could be much better

By ManayunkMichelle |

We ate here because we were staying at the hotel and were exhausted. It was ok - just ok. Typical NYC expensive but not completely worth it. Service was pretty good but the meal was ho hum.

Convenient and yummy!

By Stacy S |

I usually ignore the hotel restaurant, but we needed to grab a quick meal as we checked out and prepared to head to the airport. The spaghetti and meatballs and the fettuccine alfredo with chicken were yummy and less expensive than comparable meals in Times Square. A nice way to end our stay here. I only wish we had tried them sooner!

Great for pre-theatre eats and drinks!

By Sparky020 |

Went for Happy hour drinks - excellent - and stayed for pre-theatre meal. Just had pizzas and starters to share between 4 and was great. Staff excellent. Reasonable value for New York.

Excellent Food and Service

By NJDels |

Great location for a pre or post show meal. I am selfishly hoping it stays a hidden gem as I plan to return! Our server was sweet, wonderful and efficient and the food was to die for. Best vodka sauce I ever had! Great bar service as well. Only cons are that the portions are small and that the restaurant is difficult to find.

Quick bite for lunch

By Kim R |

I had the personal pizza. It was good, but like everything in NYC, expensive. It was $27 with tax (included a diet coke). The restaurant is nice and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Great Service and good food

By MAMA1255 |

We went for early dinner. Service was great and the food was plenty and delicious. Happy hour is a plus.

Late meal

By 240JoM240 |

My husband and I visited here at 10pm one evening. No reservation but got seated immediately. iPads to order drinks but the restaurant was quiet enough to get waiter service. Italian food, I had mussels for starter which were delicious. Followed by a mushroom pasta dish, again lovely food. Minimal waiting time for food due to time of visit. Very attentive staff, always topping up my wine glass from the bottle we ordered. High quality restaurant and food at a reasonable price.

Great Quiet Restaurant at Garden Inn Hotel

By Bruce A E |

The Hilton Hotels Never Disappoint. We had early Supper 5:30-7pm) at Paul's on Time Square- 42nd St in Manhattan. We were pleasantly surprised, it is on the 4th Floor of the Hilton Gdn Inn. A small intimate, quiet Italian Restaurant with a very small outdoor patio terrace overlooking 42nd St. Was not crowded. They have menus & Ipads to see photos of The menu items. Very easy for Techtards to operate. LOL! Very Good Service & Food. Leisurely dinner with no rush & freshly prepared. We had delicious muscles in White Wine & a Prosciutto Arugula Pizza to start. Entrees: Linguini with Seafood & Blk pasta with Spicey shrimp. Both were excellent & waitress glady substituted Pasta of our choice. Modern Decor, nice Bar & lovely bathroom. Quiet restaurants in the Time Square/Theatre/upper Garment District areas are tough to find. This Ain't no Olive Garden- Casual & much more upscale. Will Definately go Back!

Good option for Midtown

By NewJerseyCarmen |

I was pleasantly surprised. We go to Midtown often and a nice meal for two can be upwards of $200, so I decided to take a chance and purchased a Groupon. This is not your special occasion restaurant, but, it had a nice vibe and decor, good service and good food. Some of the food choices were better than others but, but overall everything was good. Lisa our server was attentive and pleasant as was the rest of the staff. For appetizers we had the Caprese salad and the Margherita pizza. Both were excellent, especially the pizza. For our pasta entrée we had the frutti di mare and the tagletelle with mushrooms. Although, a bit more generic, they were fine. They had Happy Hour house wine for $6 a glass.... not bad for NYC. Bottom line, food and service was good and reasonably priced....

Very good Italian food.

By chopin1981 |

The pasta dishes were very flavorful. I especially recommend frutti di mare. I also had the carpaccio. We were satisfied with the quality of the service. This restaurant runs a Groupon.

In the hotel lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn on 42nd. Street

By Robert G |

Hotel bar and restaurant in the lobby of the Hilton Garden in on 42nd street. From the street take the elevator to the hotel lobby and the bar/restaurant looks over 42nd. Street. Good drinks and decent food with good service.

Outdoor Terrace Dinner Overlooking 42nd St

By Bruce A E |

Paul's Italian Restaurant has a small Terrace overlooking 42nd St & Time Sq. Located on 2nd Floor of Hilton Garden Hotel. Unusually warm so Terrace was open Wkend of Oct 20, 2017. Viewing is not great unless you are Very Tall or stand on a chair. A Bright Fuchsia Hot Pink Billboard lights up the street/Bldgs, quiet/leisurely dinner & Fresh Air. Inside can get crowded & noisy during peak hrs. Had Delicious homemade Arugula/Fig Pizza (extra crispy on rqst) & Garlic/Wine Muscles, & 2 well prepared Pasta Dishes. All very good, but food could have been hotter. Happy Hour: Good $6 Drinks til 7pm. Not sure if it's offered on Wkends. Friendly, chatty hostess & good table service. 2nd time & would go back again. Sometimes on Groupon or Living Social.

Great food

By Eileen M |

What a great place Paul's on Times Square is .The staff is extremely friendly the appetizers are plentiful their Pizza is so good.We have tried quite a few of their entrees and found them all to be plentiful and delicious. There was also no problem substituting sauces on the pasta dishes we give it 5 stars

A Great Groupon Find

By Sandra C |

Two of the women in our party of five had visited the restaurant in the summer and subsequently found the Groupon offer prior to our trip in November. The restaurant is upstairs in the Hilton Garden Inn, so you don't notice it from the street. The service was excellent and our choices available for appetizers and entrees were very good. The restaurant was in a convenient location for the two theaters we were going to that evening.

Great pasta and personal pizza

By drmojo48 |

for pre-theater this is a 42nd street great place to eat. Food and wine wonderful and w/i your budget.

Just OK

By Jakeal82 |

Nothing startling here, with all the competition around you could do much better. The service was pleasant but when it came to getting the bill ( cheque in USA ). It was so confusing being presented with 3 slips of paper and having to have them explained to us, get this sorted out.

Very happy with Paul's!

By Francisco Bernabei |

We met this beautiful restaurant thanks to a Groupon. The dinner was great, but what we liked most was the excellent service of all the staff, who would have to name one by one. I only summarize it in the person of Kejsi, who with his warmth and excellent attitude made us feel at home. The food: spectacular!

What a difference a year makes

By Pablo B |

Last year we ate here and happened to be on the table next to the owner Paul, who not only engaging with us personally but shared some red wine with us, but I feel he would be horrified at our experience this year, so vary cold and robotic, nobody asked at anytime were our meals okay. The waitresses were too busy flirting with the barman. Sorry Paul, these people let you down big time

Tasty Lunch

By BuddhistNYC |

we enjoyed Paul's. we had two pizzas, Prosciutto, and Margherita, mussells, and calamari to start, followed by fruiti di mare, linguine vongole, trinette bologne, and parpardelle tartu. atmosphere was relaxed, service attentive. recommended.

Great Find!

By Poppygen |

Went with the family for lunch on Dec 11th after seeing an early Christmas show. The staff was awesome, food great and price could not be beat. We were steps away from Bryant Park which was next stop on the agenda so location was perfect. My husband and I went back Christmas Eve for a delicious seafood dinner. Almost don't want to post how good this place is because a hidden gem like this would very busy if word gets out. I love that it is hidden inside a hotel so hopefully will remain just as it is !

Great location and very well deserved in the middle of Times Square

By Gladys Di Stefano |

The dinner was superb: the food was delicious and the service first class. We had the Lobster Bisque Soup, Homemade Brioche croutons and the Caprese Salad/ Buffalo Mozzarella/heirloom Sliced Tomatoes and Roasted Peppers which were delicious. Then a Pepper Crusted Prime Filet Mignon with Pepper Crusted Bordelaise Sauce and Roasted Salmon with Cucumber Dill Sauce & Saffron Rice. I generally do not like the Salmon but this one was delicious and melting in your mouth. Desserts: Crème Brulee and Tiramisu which were as good.

After a long day visiting NYC, this place was exactly what we needed!

By Carlo_Laval |

After the NYC sites, we were looking for a NYC Pizza. This place in busy time square had a huge line-up but the wait was only about 20 minutes. The place was very busy and crowded but the serving staff was still polite. This is a no frills restaurant but the pizza was delicious. Lots of options on the menu. A pizza for everybody.

Very pleasant environment and service

By Lygia2013 |

The food surprised me. Tasty, well presented, friendly service. Great fish and varied and cozy vegetables at the right spot. I mean, al dente!

Too Foofy for me, and high priced.

By TonkamanMN |

Its convenient because its connected to the Hilton Garden Inn on Times Square. I wasn't in the mood for anything fancy , just wanted a quick meal. Pizza is gourmet which is about the only thing I would have eaten on the menu. Lots of good reviews on the Brick Oven Pizza. But too overpriced for the benefit

Amazing and fun!

By Thewilsoncrew4 |

Impeccable service. Food was very good. They were willing to make us a dish of chicken Alfredo even though it wasn't on the menu. A nice bottle of Malbec was under $50...a decent price for NYC. We used a #Groupon which gave us 4 appetizers and 4 pasta dishes for under $90...a fantastic deal. Thank you Paul's for a great night of fun with the kids!

Hilton Garden Inn breakfast included package

By Eddieboyspapa |

Beware of the Hilton Garden Inn breakfast included package. The restaurant (Paul's) is the room you go to. It is a Self Service only no menu. You go to the backroom to order your breakfast wait in line for your order. The cooks are great and friendly. But when we were done the manager came over and gave us a check. I explained that we had breakfast included, his reply was that they take the value of the breakfast and charge you a 15% gratuity. I questioned it, his reply was they do not get paid that much, so that's why they do it. I just felt that it was a great scam for them. especially when there is no mention of gratuity on the hotel voucher.

Very pleased

By Jervic3 |

Had a discount coupon that allowed us 2 apps and 2 pasta dinners. Had antipasto and carpaccio, truffle mushroom pappardelle and mixed seafood angel hair marinara. All exceeded our expectations. Service was very friendly and capable. Nice room, modern decor in the Hilton Garden Inn. Must say though, that without the coupon, prices are high and liquor prices outrageous unless you make happy hour.

Good dinning experience

By Mike S |

Paul's on Times is a nice restaurant that was surprisingly not busy but likely due to the 2nd floor location even though it is so close to Times Square. The food was good and service was friendly and quick.

Paul’s Excellence. This bar restaurant is everything with Remy and his cocktails

By Kate O |

I can’t say enough about my experience at Paul’s Time Square. This hidden gem gives flavor, nuance and love into all that they do. After sampling Margherita on the rocks at the Yard, Margheritaville and Planet Hollywood I have found th best margarita full stop at Paul’s. I implore you to take the elevator up to “HL” and escape the chaos and noise of Times Square at rush hour and sit down at this piece of quiet tranquil. The people like Remy and his staff make you feel at ease and want to stay longer. I highly recommend Paul’s but worry that if you don’t know it’s there you might miss a real good thing in Times Square.

Breakfast

By Diane R |

The price at the door on the board says $24.95 per person for Breakfast and when the bill came it said $62.00 for 2 people . Where did It say At the door that I had to pay a service fee and a 15 % Tip for my server who only delivered coffee to me. A waitress walked by my table and broke a coffee cup and it scattered against my table and she just ignored the fact that she did it. She never apologized , she waited for the server to clean up the mess. I feel you definitely need to advertise the true price. False and misleading prices are not OK , I will tip what I wish to tip. Thank you. Diane R

Delicious appetizers

By Olga B |

We have ordered duck pizza and homemade sausages and both appetizers were absolutely delicious! Seafood pasta was okay. We had Groupon so this restaurant really impressed us. Without Groupon it is very expensive.

Great atmosphere

By Jesse O |

Great place and the music in the background is really good. Staff really professional and knows when to ask for more stuff.

Good cocktails

By cedricellis |

Although it took us a bit of time to get service, the cocktails here are good and priced similar to other places in NYC (not inexpensive). The appetizer were ok...nothing to write about nor complain about ...just average. The staff needs to remember that this is a place of business and avoid giving each other massages while they are bored. Nice place to wind down after your day out and about if you are staying at the HGI in Time Square.

Good Italian eatery at the Hilton, Times Square

By Aurora R |

Stayed at the Hilton on 42nd in Midtown Manhattan, and checked out Paul's located on the lobby floor. Ordered the vongole which was very good, with large morsels of clam and the pasta cooked al dente. The wine list is interesting and many options by the glass. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Check this place out!

Excellent service and food!

By Brian0ntheGo |

Located in the Hilton Garden Inn, Paul's on Times Square is in a very convenient spot for so many things. We selected this restaurant based on its location and other reviews and were so glad that we did...our meals were excellent! The portions were very large, and the restaurant itself was very pleasant. While the food alone warranted an excellent review, our servers, Liza E and Mike, made our visit even better. This restaurant exceeded our expectations and we'll be back on a future trip to NYC.

Slow Service and wrong orders

By LPYankee |

We are frequent travelers and My friends and I were very disappointed. Service was slow, very few customers for lunch and it still took over 45 minutes to be served after we ordered. When the meals finally came several of our orders were wrong. Later my wife and I ordered drinks to take to our room (at the Hilton Garden where Paul's is located) and we had to promise to bring the glasses back or we would not be served.

Well without more

By David L |

Nice place and well placed but not much effort to welcome tourists and especially quickly kicked out. Unfavourable price-quality ratio

Simply Amazing!

By Reece1125 |

We found Paul's on Groupon and we are so glad we did! Our waiter Braco (who we later found out was a manager) was THE BEST! His recommendations were spot on and the service he provided was excellent. Our dishes were amazing..large portions and full of flavor. We will definitely dine here on our next visit NYC...no Groupon needed. This place is simply amazing!

Impeccable service, great food

By Kevin S |

We visited with a Groupon offer and were really impressed by the food even with the restricted Groupon menu. Great wine and great service too, probably the best we had in New York during our short stay there.

Amazing servers

By Vacaciones23 |

We went with a Groupon and our waiter explained everything to us, very professional and the other servers were also very attentive. We had the pizza for appetizer and it was great, generous portion at the point that we have to take some to go. The pasta was a little over cooked but with good flavor. We will return and try other dishes.

Italian at it's best

By Ro D |

Happen to see a groupon for four and bought it. Made reservations and then the suprise came. Glass walls looking out to the city just loved the unscale look. Included was four apps. they were great and looked beautiful. The menu prices looked high but this is the city. Try to find the groupon. We had four different pasta's and everyone was happy with thre choice.

NICE BREAKFAST & DINNER OPTION HILTON TIMES SQUARE 42ND ST

By DJMAN5 |

Located up the elevator Hilton next to lobby area. Modern ambiance, NYC murals. Small bar area. Fixed price Breakfast, breads, muffins, cereal, fruit, chef supplied prepared omelets, waffles, meats, home fries- basic, tasty, convenient for hotel guests. Note service charge (tip) is included as a separate item on your bill. Dinner-had a outstanding Groupon value. We had a nice lemon martini, mozz/tomato/pepper appetizer- outstanding, pizzas- duck & margherita pizza. Some nice pasta options also offered in addition to the unique pizzas. Our pizzas were very good, nice crust and hot. Our waitress was overworked, handling too many tables, so ordering service was slow. Dinner- be sure to make reservations. Going to a show, be sure to mention time you need to go.

Great staff, great get-away!

By Karen M |

If you need a bit of a break from the craziness on the street, check out this somewhat overlooked watering hole and restaurant next to lobby of the Hilton Inn on 42nd St.. One big reason for the outstanding rating is the staff. Irina, a young, attractive russian immigrant provides great service as bartender and good conversation with an intriguing accent. Eddie is there to provide back-up when things get more hectic. Give it a try, you won't regret it. .

Paul’s On Times Square

By Joe S |

The best meal of our trip to NYC was dinner at Paul’s On Times Square. Reasonable prices, generous portions and exquisite flavor profiles made this dinner. But wait! Our server Enrike pulled these three elements together with superlative service. His style was attentive yet unobtrusive. Personable but not overbearing. A perfect place for great Italian in Times Square is Paul’s On Times Square.

Wonderful food, wonderful people

By Julia_Bulia67 |

We ate dinner here one evening after arriving at our hotel. This restaurant in the Hilton Garden Inn. The hostess was a charming lady. They were all the nicest people. The food was really good too. They made a custom salad for me and they didn’t have a kids menu but brought out spaghetti and marinara for my 18 month old granddaughter. My daughter enjoyed the margharita pizza. It was a nice relaxing experience after a day of travel. Even though we weren’t the only ones in the restaurant, they made us feel as though we were family. It was wonderful.

Great customer service, very accommodating to our requirements

By EmlaaJane |

The food was great the service was amazing, would definitely return. Myself and my partner do not drink and the bar staff understood our needs and made us nonalcoholic strawberry lemonade cocktails. Traveling from the UK it is often difficult to understand menus and different variations of a dish the waiter however went above and beyond to explain this to us, and made sure we both had something to eat that we like instead of turning us away he catered to our needs and we really appreciated this. We left full, happy and respected. From this experience we will most definitely be returning to NYC.

Great lunch after a nice stay in the hotel

By owlloverNyc |

Had a nice pasta dish (with whole wheat pasta) while my husband had a pizza. Not crowded. Servers were very attentive and pleasant. And we ended our lunch sharing a great piece of cheesecake. Was so nice to check out of the hotel and just go in and get a bit before we hit the road home.

Nice quiet hideaway

By LAFAMILLEG11231 |

Nestled upstairs in the Hilton. Small Italian restaurant with friendly service. Light fare or full meals.

Great pre-show dinner

By Terry F |

We went here with a group-on as a family dinner for six before a concert. The restaurant is located inside the Hilton Garden Inn on 42nd Street and is on the 4th floor. No problems with the reservations. The food was excellent. Fried calamari, salad, bruscetta, baked clams, (the usual appetizers). They have a variety of 9" pizzas which can also be eaten as appetizers. The entrees were just enough food. I had the rigatoni. Others had linguini, bolognese, etc. Very tasty. My group-on took off about 50% of the bill. It also has some tables outside on a balcony overlooking 42nd st.

The Food and Beverage Association of America Celebrates at Paul's on Times Square

By SteveFBAssoc |

Wow...awesome way to kick-off 2018. Class act.. Great Location, terrific view of Time Square & the "Ball" from the dinning room. Outstanding cuisine, excellent & most accommodating service staff. Our dinner reception was a night to remember. From the fabulous lobster bisque, impeccably fresh raw bar & whole roasted salmon w cucumber dill sauce to the pepper crusted prime filet mignon & herb roasted rack of lamb w mint sauce & chimichurri right down to the authentic homemade Italian desserts... all on point. Bravo! Thank you for a memorable evening. Looking forward to returning. Steven V. Gattullo President The Food & Beverage Assoc of America

Get the Groupon

By Maggie H |

We got the Groupon dinner for 2 and it was well worth it! Not sure we'd pay full price though. Sit outside on the tiny patio if you can. Reservations required.

Bad food and service

By Emzg |

Don’t waste your time and money in this Italian restaurant. The food is horrible. It’s really not good at all. We had pasta and couldn’t finish our plates , the sauce was so fat and plenty of a horrible cream that had nothing Italian. We had booked a table but were seated just near an open door to the terrace and the waiters didn’t change our place. We were cold. It felt like a restaurant with a poor organization and no quality at all in the service .

Fantastic pizza

By RickNewY0rk |

The restaurant gets busy because it serves the Broadway crowd. You get a great view of Times Square if you sit in the bar area or on the balcony. The prosciutto with fig jam was an imaginative gem, a great combo of sweet and salty. The pastas were unfortunately not al dente, a atd overcooked. Service was good. It's a tad pricey, but hey, it's near the crossroads of Times Square - Broadway and 42nd Street.

Advertusing works !

By THE TRAVELLER |

I was walking along 42nd street going to Times Square when the Ad outside caught my eye- my name is Paul ! I made a mental not to go back for lunch and was not disappointed. It is on the 4th floor of the Hilton Garden Inn and is the bar/ restaurant for the Hotel. Surprisingly stylish. Efficient and friendly service. Italian menu with a good range of dishes. A la carte menu and a 3 course Price fixe menu too which offers good value- the ceasar salad, penne vodka al salmone and new york cheescake were wonderful.

Nice ambience

By Carlarsen |

This restaurant we found the day before by coincidence as we were looking for a bar close to our hotel. As starters we had bruschetta and as mains we had pizza and penne with salmon in vodka sauce. The food was very good, ambience very nice and the service focused. This restaurant is a big three or a small 4 but very recommendable.

Exceptional dining experience!

By Goran B |

Exceptional dining experience! This restaurant on Times Square combines mouthwatering dishes with flawless presentation. Every bite bursts with flavor, and the menu caters to all tastes. The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel special. A vibrant atmosphere completes the experience. 10/10 – highly recommend!

They Need Some Help

By WORLDTRAVELER239 |

We recently stayed at the HGI and Paul’s is the attached restaurant. One night we stopped for drinks and waited over 20 minutes for a martini. The place was empty but the bartender was busy chatting. Service was also poor during breakfast service. You might wait a while for the buffet service which isn’t really a buffet. There didn’t really seem to be leadership to run the place. On the up side, when you do get your food...it’s pretty decent.

Good Food, but Small Portions

By Laurel B |

We splurged and went to this expensive midtown restaurant with a party of nine. The food was okay, but smaller than average sized portions.

Groupon brought us here

By lacy g |

Our hotel was only 3 blocks away and I noticed a Groupon for this restaurant so I purchased it. I feel like the Groupon was too much food for two people. We probably would have been better off just purchasing 2 entrees. The food was good, but the restaurant was busy and really loud. There was an annoying child sitting next to us that kept crawling next to me so I couldn't enjoy my dinner. The parents wouldn't do anything because they were too busy playing on their phones. If I go to a restaurant like this I want to enjoy a nice quiet dinner.

Loved it!

By annfrma2000 |

Awesome pizza! Try the margarita with goat cheese, so good! Pasta dishes were excellent too! Service was great too! Cute place, will def return!

If you want to eat dinner here on NYE, read this review

By travelgirlie123 |

Paul's on Times Square is in the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. Since we would be in NYC on NYE w/2 teenagers, I wanted to be able to explore during the early part of the day, have dinner at the hotel, and retire to our ball drop room long before midnight. I thought this was a great plan. The good: The food was fine, the proximity to our hotel room was great (the restaurant is inside the Hilton Garden Inn), the restaurant is small & cozy, bar we decorated for NYE. The bad: I made an online reservation for 4 for Dec 31 at 8 pm thru Open Table months in advance of our trip. As I continued my research for this trip (to arguably the busiest place on Earth on NYE), I began to think I should call the restaurant to make sure that our reservation was secure. The person I spoke w/said they would be having a party that evening, but had no details of when it would start, etc. She said she would call me when she got info (never happened). I decided to move our reservation by an hour. Finally, they listed info on the party, I believe in Dec. I emailed the restaurant (to make sure I had all in writing). The person who replied told me that they start decorating for the party around 8, so we would be fine. Then on Dec 13, I received a message that my reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant! I contacted the person I had been in communication w/and was assured of a new reservation time of 6:00. I made back-up reservations elsewhere, and had my husband create an Open Table account and make a 5 pm reservation at this restaurant (just in case). The day we arrived at the hotel, I went straight to the restaurant. I talked to the hostess and saw both of our reservations on their computer screen. To be kind, I cancelled the 5 pm reservation (and my other reservation at a different restaurant) and kept my 6:00 reservation. On the 31st, we went downstairs to the restaurant ready to have a celebratory NYE dinner and found out I had NO RESERVATION! I am not kidding. I am normally a VERY calm person, but I thought I would lose my mind when they told me we had no reservation (nothing on the screen w/my name). After a "little discussion" w/the manager, amazingly, they found us a table. I just wonder if someone else lost their table. But clearly there is an issue w/their reservation system and/or the people who manage it. Luckily, after a while (and a couple of drinks), I was able to enjoy New Year's Eve in NYC w/my family.

Average tasting food

By Joan C |

Only went for the breakfast buffet one morning while staying at the Hilton. The service was good, but the food was marginal and lacked flavor.

Don’t waste your money.

By Batonwaver |

I am staying at the Hilton Garden Times Square - Central for twelve nights. Paul’s is their in-house dining facility. On my first morning (May 12). I went down at 6:00 AM to get a light breakfast of orange juice, coffee and toast. I was the only client in the facility that did not open until 6:15. Finally somebody showed up to take down the not open sign. I was led to a two top and ordered the Orange juice and coffee. When the waiter showed up he indicated I had to order the total buffet for$28.00 to get my request. I asked for the check and left after depositing my $10.00 breakfast voucher for the requested $8.00 tab for the two beverages. Upon leaving I asked the waiter if there was a nearby spot for light breakfasts. He said “no”. The next morning, after five minutes of research on Google Maps I found the Paris Baguette coffee and pastry shop 200 feet away on Broadway. They were happy to see me even though I was 15th in line an did not force me to spend $28.00 on a light breakfast. By the way. I highly recommend this little shop. Fresh pastries were pouring out of the kitchen as I was having my $10.00 repast.

A hidden jewel!

By monica6766 |

Hidden from plain view, we came upon this wonderful Italian restaurant in the heart of Times Square by using a Groupon voucher. Every dish is large enough to share, making the prices much more affordable. From the appetizers to the desserts, every single dish is worth tryingetting. Add to that the excellent, friendly service and the beautiful atmosphere, you will never be disappointed after a visit to Paul's on Times Square!

Excellent food and gluten free pizza available

By Kath506 |

A great choice and good food. Even gluten free pizza which has been hard to come by in New York. Great service and great location A bit pricey but this is NYC and food was worth it.

Nice place inside the Hilton Hotel

By Min Y |

The food was very good and the service was great. We had a slight problem with the mussells we ordered, however, the manager/company tried their best to resolve it. I would come again to this restaurant.... Just remember it's inside the Hilton Hotel in Times Square.

Great prix fixe menu

By John S |

Had dinner here while in NYC on business. Restaurant is upstairs in the Hilton Garden Inn. Easy to get a table with no wait. Had a good prix fixed menu. Salad for starter, great vodka pasta and then good cheesecake for dessert. I'll go back for sure.

Pleasant Surprise

By Lolly’s Look |

We had dinner with friends here at Paul's Times Square before a Broadway show. We found this spot on Groupon. We got an unbelievable deal for 4 appetizer, or salad or pizza and 4 pasta entrees. They were having happy hour drink specials so it was very reasonable. The decor is sleek modern--it was fresh with a clean white look. The service was attentive. The food was excellen! We ordered two burrata pizzas, fried calamari, and a tomato burrata appetizer to share. That was really enough to fill us. The pasta dishes were very large. There were two orders of Ravioli, BPapardelle Con Funghi E Tartufi, and Salmone Alla Cartoccio. We had just come back from Italy and savoured the Black Truffle Norcia. This Truffle cream dish was every bit as good.

Amazing Food

AMAZING FOOD, romantic atmosphere, gorgeous view of the city. this place definitely surpassed my expectations. went in thinking it would be an average place since it is apart of the hotel but WOW!!!

Like a lot of the other reviews, we too were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. After wondering around Times Square, we found Paul's a great place to sit, have a glass of wine & relax. We enjoyed a couple of salads, the Capressee & arugula w/ pear & Gorgonzola. Then split the Chilean Bass entrée. All were fresh and delicious. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful. Nice to get away from the hub bub of Times Square.

Good but hard to find.

By Joe B |

Good little restaurant. I had a lot better food at other restaurants. It’s a little over priced and the view isn’t as good as many other restaurants in the city. I’d say it was just okay.

Good meal!

By dt-2003 |

We stayed at the Garden Inn so very convenient for dinner before theatre. Seafood capellini and clams with linguini were very good. White wine during dinner and drinks late night before were on the warm side. Would definite eat here again next time in NYC.

Food ok, servive average

By FKEU |

After our arrival we were waiting quite a long time for our starters and even longer for our mains. No attention to details, no atmosphere. The food was surprisingly tasty, at least.

Pleasant

By MRM1952 |

The food here is excellent and the location is great for theatre goers. The only thing I want to comment on is the service was a little not up to par. But you can over look this for this establishment.

Worst service

By Mikesgbear1 |

I went there for drinks before dinner because I was staying in the hotel the Hilton Garden Inn. The bartender didn't even acknowledge me for more than five minutes then somebody came up and asked for water and she help them before me. They had happy hour specials 7.00 absolute drinks. I asked for two absolute drinks and she told me she doesn't have any absolute so I said what would you replace it with can I get great goose or kettle one or Tito's. She said the replacement vodka is popov which is the worst tasting vodka you can get. I would not of minded Seagrams but how are you going to advertise a premium vodka and then offer well in replacement. She said if I want a different vodka she has to charge me four dollars more which would've made it 11.oo each. That's certainly not happy hour pricing. She brought the manager over and the manager said the same thing that's what we give and replacement of that, a well vodka. She said you know this is time square. I would never go again and I would certainly recommend nobody else go with service like this. If you look through my reviews this is the first review I've ever given of one star.

Aberage

By Joe B |

The view from here wasn’t that great. The service was good but the serving I got was sooo small for $28.00. I was still hungry. Super hard to find. Google has the address wrong.its upstairs in a hotel. I’d go somewhere else. But the good was good.

Very good food

We went for dinner and the food was delicious, we had mussels, pizza, spaghetti and ravioli, all were excellent, nice atmosphere and the staff was pleasant and attentive

Great Food!

I loved this restaurant. Amazing food and great drinks. I had the black pasta dish, delicious! Would definitely recommend this place!

Tasty food, lovely atmosphere.

We had a Groupon voucher for Paul's and we were very impressed. Lovely decor and atmosphere. The food was very tasty and we left very full. We would never normally eat in a hotel restaurant but very glad we did here.

Hotel Food that is Better than Most!

By kawh |

You can't beat this location. In the heart of Times Square madness, but quiet and modern inside. Everyone was super welcoming, from the guy by the elevator to the busboy. We don't usually eat at hotel restaurants, but a friend suggested we meet there. Prices are reasonable. Happy hour drinks were served at the dining tables. Hubbie really like the pizza starter. I loved my spaghetti bolognaise. I really ordered it because it's hard to mess up.... but it ended up being some of the best I've had... with tons of great brisket-type meat. Cesar salad was an average banquet-type disappointment. It won't be the best meal you've ever had... but if you need something right in the theater district that's peaceful and doesn't break the bank, this could be a good choice.

Delicious Food and Great Drinks

By Shpresa N |

I loved this restaurant! I made a reservation for me and 7 of my friends for my friends birthday and everyone loved the food, drinks and the décor. The staff was super friendly and very professional. The restaurant is conveniently located in the middle of Times Square. I would definitely recommend this place.

The food was good and prices were New York in Manhattan $$$$$$. The portions were reasonable but on the small side! Service was good.

Groupon Visit

By ServiceMatters86 |

Everything was just as promised. Great selection and exceptional service. I would return even without a Groupon.

Nice Small Place, Close to Times Square

By rugby007 |

It’s a floor up inside the Hilton Garden Inn next to the Knickerbocker, entrance on 42d Street. We had a reservation, made easily online. We showed a little early and were immediately seated, after our vax cards were checked. Strangely enough, all of the staff were wearing masks but the front desk hostess was not…not to clear as to why. The menu was a bit limited, but we did just fine. My partner asked for hot tea, and the dirty mug was replaced immediately on our request. I started with the calamari, which was wonderfully crisp, with a big half of lemon to squeeze onto it. I had the chicken marsala, two nice big pieces with a delightful amount of thick and tasty mushroom gravy. The brussels sprouts that came with it had a good taste but were undercooked. A nice addition to this dish would be a nice portion of rice or even noodles to get up all of that wonderful gravy. My partner had a side of asparagus, which she said was quite good. She finished with the cheese cake, which she also liked. Service was good throughout, friendly and attentive. Bottom Line: this is a good place to go right off Times square, easy to get to and responsive. Recommend, and would return.

just ok

By MK330 |

Service was a bit lagging..possibly due to a large group and efficient staff...dining room was ok. Salad and the duck confit pizza were good, but the linguine was way way too soft....

Convenient Location - Good Food

By Dave E |

Was looking for a quick place to grab dinner on a rainy Saturday night. Was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn so I decided to check on this restaurant (located on the 4th floor of the hotel). I was seated right away and the waitstaff was very attentive and helpful with answers to my questions regarding the menu. The Chicken Parm and accompanying side of pasta was large and made for a tasteful and filling meal. Though I didn't sit at the bar, the bar area looks to be a great place to grab a quick drink before exploring the city. Nice restaurant for everyone looking to get away from the hustle of the city

What a surprise!

By luvsthingsgerman |

I had gotten a Groupon offer for the restaurant prior to our trip and I thought it looked very interesting. I made the reservation in advance, so there was no problem with seating. We had a hard time finding the restaurant not knowing it was upstairs in the Hilton Garden Inn where I had stayed on a previous trip to NYC. Had I known, we would have been able to easily find it. Anyway, it was a totally enjoyable evening. Great selection of appetizers and entrees. It was a pretty pricey evening, but with the Groupon, it was quite enjoyable. Excellent service. Our table was very close to another table, and we had a fun time talking to our neighbors.

Our stay in New York

By Nelson N |

This restaurant was excellent food was delicious. Our favorite waiter was James took great care of us. Everybody was very professional.

Good Food; Attentive Staff

By Rey17 |

Our party of two enjoyed an after-matinee dinner. The potential appetizers varied widely in type and number. We shared an artichoke and arugula and personal-sized margharita pizza. The entrees were pasta dishes, fusilli with eggplant, and wide noodles in a cream sauce. Everything was delicious; platters were plentiful. The wait staff is attractive and well-mannered; attentive but not intrusive. We felt well-treated throughout; our Groupon was accepted happily. The setting is well-cared for and scrupulously clean. There is a diminutive exterior dining option, but it was hot and noisy.

HIGHLY recommend you visit!

By Abi S |

We visited for dinner last night after purchasing a Groupon. Wow, what a great buy! It is in the Hilton Garden Inn on Times Sq. Very trendy and elegant restaurant. Staff were fantastic. Food was fantastic and there was lots of it. We were really happy with our meal + would definitely recommend you try here. You can make reservations online too which is really helpful.

Great groupon

Great food, great service and the groupon is a really good deal. The pizzas were very good, specially the Margarita.

Get your Groupon and Go!

By NewHampshire3 |

We got a Groupon for the 4 of us for $88 that got us each an appetizer and and entree. Beef carpaccio was excellent as an app, others had caesar salad, which they said was good. The bolognese was amazing. The atmosphere was very nice. Desserts, which were not included in Groupon, were very good. Good waitstaff, but at the end, it took awhile to get our check and I did have to go and ask for it. Just fyi- people were there in jeans and polo, to dressier. We plan on going back the next time we are in the city.

Adequate but overpriced

By Jennifer B |

We had a dinner at Pauls. The food was very expensive for what it was. The service was lacking and the portions small. I would not go back. I would give it lower than three stars but the meal was tasty overall.

Delicious food.

By Abbigail F |

My husband and I both got a pasta dish and an appetizer. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming. We made friends with the couple next us.

Fantastic Restaurant --Tony's!!!

By AprilBenShel |

Hi. As I happened to luck out past two Sunday's to catch two great Broadway shows which I will review also. I have to write this review about Paul's on Times Square!! In past I used groupons and I happened to see this restaurant. So I taught my friend how to buy on Groupon. Well after the show we walked and walked looking all over for restaurant as we had reservations. Finally found it. It was inside the Hilton !!! Once we walked in the restaurant atmosphere was very tasteful as was there Italian food. What a surprise. I had ordered an appetizer of fresh Italian salami and cheeses etc. There was so much and it was delicious. Then for main entre. I ordered eggplant rigatoni. When our waiter came out to serve. He brought mine and on the plate was a huge fresh eggplant. I looked and asked like what is this and he said they ran out of pasta!! To my surprise it was just the way my order came prepared. The entire eggplant was on top and covered the rigatoni. The service , our waiter. Entire staff were exceptional. I loved the atmosphere and will go back again as I now know it's in the Hilton!!!

Good Choice

By Nabobs |

This is also the hotel restaurant and is located above street level. So it has a good view of 42nd Street from some spots. It is small with an even smaller bar. The food and drinks are good enough to draw a crowd it could not accommodate so it would be a shame for the hotel guests if word gets out. The price is reasonable, especially with the hotel discount and we all had exceptionally good meals. We ended up eating in the restaurant two nights in a row and did not feel disappointed about not venturing out to the New York restaurant scene.

Exceptional Service

By Deborah M |

We visited 2 times during our stay at the Hilton. The service and food were amazing! Such nice and attentive staff. Lobster ravioli…oh my!!

Intimate setting with great food

By Zoe Ansley-Green |

We visited for a cocktail and had the pizza (delicious). This is a small restaurant within a hotel (so not easy to find) with beautiful decor at Christmas. Perfect for a romantic date night although a little overpriced

A Group-On Great

By jmartibOswego_NY |

Before traveling to NYC for a week long vacation, I spotted a Group-On deal for this restaurant. After reading Tripadvisor reviews and noting that the cost was only $45, I believed that this would be a good value. Let me tell you that I was 100% correct. After being seated and told how this meal would work with the group-on, we were able to choose 2 appetizers and then follow with 2 pasta dishes. For my app. I chose the 4 cheese pizza w/ truffle oil. This is at least a 10"-12" thin crust pizza and was delicious. My wife ordered a gorgonzola salad and liked it very much. For our main pasta dishes, I ordered ravioli with sun dried tomato and thyme cream sauce. Again a superb dish. My wife ordered homemade wide ribbon pasta w/ wild mushrooms and truffle cream sauce. She was more than happy with this. This meal was worth $95 but cost only $45 plus the tip. A real bargain. People have asked about any required dress here. The answer is no requirement. Many here were in blue jeans. However none were in shorts or t-shirts. It is advisable to seek reservations here since this appears to be a popular spot A word about the staff here. Our interactions with the hostess and wait staff were very pleasant. We would highly recommend this restaurant on 42nd St. in the heart of Times Square.

In Hotel Bar that is Good!

By Janet C |

We stopped in this December since we were staying at the HGI. Not expecting much for an in hotel restaurant. But we were pleasantly surprised. Only had desserts and drinks but seating was comfortable and warm from the 19 degrees outside. The desserts were beautiful and delicious and drinks were a health pour. Prices in line with other NY restaurants with seating. Service was a bit unattentive but would try it again.

Great pasta

By Rnfox |

We enjoyed an after dinner GROUPON adventure after catching a Saturday afternoon broadway show. We started with the buratta which was served with roasted peppers. We then had a goat and wild mushroom pizza. They were both very good with the pizza crust done crispy. We had the penne vodka ala salmon which was served with perfectly cooked pieces of fresh salmon. We also had the eggplant pasta which was excellent.

Not so good

By lindoIsrael |

I ordered a pasta +chicken and wine It’s was bad!! I told to the waitress , she ask if I won’t something else. In the bill I saw that I was charged with a small discount of 10 Too bad - I will not recommend to my friends The waitress service was good & nice view

Hard To Find

By bkpoud2 |

We were from out of town and staying in the Times Square area. So we could walk to the restaurant. We had made reservations. However no one told us it was on the second floor of a hotel. But it was well worth the trouble to get there,The dinning room was full with lots of big parties. However the service and Italian food were very good.We would like to give a kudos to Marina our server. She was very busy, but went above and beyond in taking care of us.

Great Service

By Ginger F |

Since we were staying at the Garden Inn, Paul's was a great place to eat before going to the theater. The staff was cordial and our waiter was great, gave us extra time to order, was there when we wanted him but not intrusive. I had a terrific Manhattan, better than many that I've had elsewhere. We ate on a little balcony that turned out to be quite nice. Had an appetizer and a Caprese Salad. I'd eat at Paul's again.

Dinner in NYC

Great food, great service from the hostess to the waitstaff!! We were shocked that it was such a great experience and a Groupon offer! We were all pleased and will return again!! The food was awesome and also great for vegetarians

Hidden gem!

By davisgtd |

Went for a casual dinner. Shared a pizza and bottle of wine - very good. But, best part are the employees. Adrian U, our bus boy was terrific. Will go far with a fabulous personality. Had the breakfast buffet daily. Arber kept us in coffee and orange juice - I drink decaf and he got it for me. Nice quiet place!

Very good!

The restaurant is on the second floor of Hilton Hotel. Food was delicious, staff was friendly and nice. We ordered pizza and steak. Both are very good.

Brother’s Birthday

By NY1 |

I was planning a 10 guest dinner for my brothers 60th. I work in the area and just happened to walk into Paul’s. The thing that first impressed me was the staff. They were so professional and friendly. I then worked with the manager Benny to create a special nite for my brother. And he delivered!! From the budget to menu to the bar, the servers. Everything was first rate!! In terms of the food. The Brusetta was incredible as was the salmon and pasta dish. Perfectly cooked and so creamy. The desserts were great. Everyone was happy with the food. But I can’t stress this enough. You can get dinner anywhere in NY. But if you are looking for attentive, first rate and just the nicest staff. Come get the full package of great food and impeccable service at Paul’s Time Square!!!

Dessert before the show

By Katherine L |

Needing a little more than what we had for lunch and and hour before showtime standing in Times Square we looked for a place for some dessert. Well, looking up brought us to Paul's (located inside the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel) where we enjoyed a delicious Tiramosu and cup of cappaccino. Looking at the lunch menu we were almost sorry we'd already eaten. Italian dishes and pizza. Noting that breakfast, lunch and dinner are served we'll be sure to return.

Convenient location and good service

By Karen v |

After a long day walking the streets we decided to eat at the restaurant in our hotel rather than go out again. It was 9pm on a Saturday night so probably a bit late for dinner and the restaurant was quite empty. Service was very good and the staff were friendly. I had the salmon main course which was served steamed in a packet with its vegetables. Unfortunately it was quite bland and thus a bit disappointing. The mushroom pasta chosen by one of the other diners was a much better option and was quite tasty.

A great meal

By nickinhull |

Me and my partner had a meal at this restaurant recently. We booked and were shown to our table. The menu was varied and we ordered a starter to share and two mains the waiter was very friendly and helpful the food was beautiful the restaurant has a great ambiance.

Lcation, Location, Location Plus Good Food

By Leonard K |

Located on 42nd street near 7th avenue, it is ideally located for most broadway shows. Nice view from above the street at the people that make up this area. A combination of New Yorkers and Tourists, but the savvy New Yorkers know a good deal when they have one. Start with the bar that has happy hour from 4 to 7 and then have some really good New York Italian food. I go there bout once a month with just my wife or we meet friends. The service is excellent as well. Must thank "Living Social" for finding them for us.

Surprised!

By Randy P |

Breakfast and Dinner were great! The staff were attentive and the atmosphere filled in the spaces. A small but fun bar is connected.

Nice food and service - ridiculous service charge

By Gülsen Rose Cak... J |

We bought a groupon for 45$ to this restaurant and where fully aware that we needed to pay drinks and tips on top of this. However when we got the bill it was 12$ for the wine (which we expected) and 20$ in something called service charge. This amount is completely ridiculous, it made the groupon in my opinion worthless as the amount we saved was so small. We would never have chosen the place had we known this. It doesn't say anywhere on the groupon and we weren't told (and even if we had been told on the restaurant it would have been to late as we had already bought the groupon). Furthermore the bill had a place to put in gratuity charge ?!?!?!, I would love to know the difference, as I believe I already payed this in abundance via the service charge. I must confess I don't even remember how the food tasted.. It was completely ruined by this bill. The restaurant is a typical hotel restaurant, the price (the normal prices) does not reflect the food but the location.

Disappointing

By FLBFive |

A Groupon is what brought me here. I definitely would have been extremely upset if I had paid full price for the food I had received. The best part of the meal was the warm bread and olive oil dip they place on the table. Had carpaccio (suggestion - don't place it on the bottom of the plate, as it sticks there and you have to scrape it off ruining it) It also lacked enough balsamic dressing. Duck confit pizza, again lacked enough taste. Salmon Pasta and orecchiette pasta with sausage. Both were just okay. Both meats I ate tasted of very low quality, that I removed them from my plate. I felt like it was an American restaurant trying to make Italian food. Not a good mix. . Nice interior, bar-like atmosphere inside hotel. We were here on a Sunday late afternoon and the place was empty. Maybe that should have told me something.

Excellent food and right in our hotel!

By arithecat |

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn where Paul's was located. It was so nice to be able just to go down, have happy hour and then pizza. Our servers were great and the food was very good. The restaurant is open in the morning for breakfast also. It's a buffet with a chef to make eggs and omlets, waffles, pancakes, and all the items a normal buffet has. Paul's was a little more expensive than we would like to pay but, the convenience of having it right there was wonderful!

Restaurant with Great "Pasta-bilities"

By GaryandSteve |

Was very intrigued & interested by the menu I saw for "Paul's on Times Square", an Italian restaurant tucked away on the 4th floor (Hotel Lobby) in the Hilton Garden Hotel. Decided to buy a Group-On & go on Thursday evening after work. The restaurant, though small, was very stylish, with romantic lighting & ambient music. Our waitress was very attentive & efficient. Our orders came out very quickly, & never once did we have to ask for our waters to be refilled. Steve & I started our meal with 2 appetizers: The Mussels, & the Duck Confit Pizza with carmelized onions. We both enjoyed the sweet taste of the cheesy pizza, however, I couldn't detect the duck confit on it. The mussels, unfortunately, had a briny flavor & had a weird texture (not sure if these were fresh or frozen). We both enjoyed our main entrees. Steve got the Ravioli in sun-dried tomato thyme cream sauce. I loved my Pappardele pasta. They tasted homemade & were cooked perfectly. The Porcini wild mushroom cream sauce, with a hint of truffle flavor, that accompanied the silken wide ribbons of pasta, was delectable. I would definitely like to try other items on the menu. All in all - a very nice experience in dining!

Nice restaurant, inside hilton

By Robin D |

This restaurant is on the second floor of the building and is the Hilton restaurant. It offers mainly thin crust pizzas. They are really good. There is no full menu or healthy choices. The bar is quite small and in the back of the restaurant. Quiet and relax. Nice after a day of work at the hotel.

Good meal - Groupon

By Jeff B |

Family of 6 meal on a Saturday night. We were seated right away and service was good all evening. We could hardly get a swallow of water before our cups were filled. We enjoyed 2 salads, 1 calamari, and 1 pizza as appetizers and the. 5 pasta dishes. All food was good although the mixed salad was really just lettuce and tomato. The pasta dishes were adequate as single servings and was “enough” but not overwhelming. The price, after our Groupon, was $43 plus tip. That is on top of the $73 for the Groupon. That made this price a decent visit. The non-discounted price was $216 plus tip which would have been painful for the dinner. All in all I’d say this was a good visit with excellent service that is enhanced if you can get the Groupon.

Hidden gem in middle of New York City

By Jinny038 |

This is a wonderful little restaurant located in the Hilton Garden Inn hotel on 42nd Street between Broadway and 6th Avenue. It is located on the 4th floor, and has an unimpeded view of the ball drop on New Year's Eve. I had occasion to eat there with friends and the food was very good and the service was excellent. In the middle of New York City, but away from the crowds. Tables are spaced so that you can have a conversation with your friends, but still be in the mix.

Very pleasantly surprised...

By Navy Vet |

Sometimes going into a restaurant in a hotel you never know what to expect. Located in the Hilton Garden Inn we were more than pleased with the service and excellent food. Calamari was good, Pizza was delicious and both pasta dishes were also excellent. Service was excellent to round off an excellent meal before heading to see a matinee show. Definitely a place we are looking to come back to eat at again.

“This place has the best pizza on Times Square!

By Edita B |

This place has the best pizza on Times Square! The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is packed with flavor, and the toppings are super fresh. The staff is friendly, and the vibe is just perfect. 10/10 – would definitely come back!

Excellent Restaurant

By Lindy V |

This was the highlight of our dining in NYC. The best bolognaise I have ever had. Salad were also outstanding. We got a Groupon coupon before arriving. Service was great in a very nice setting. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Small place for breakfast

By LaylaM |

We spent 4 days in Hilton Garden Inn, and every morning we need to queue and waited for almost 30 minutes to get our table for breakfast. The restaurant can’t cope with a big number of in-house guests. They have lack selection of food in the buffet, just 3 Different kinda of fruits, few selection of bread, one flavour of yoghurt (which strawberry). You need to queue again to order your fresh eggs and pancakes, and you don’t guarantee that your food will be good as what you wanted, (there’s two chef’s inside the kitchen will do ur eggs, it will take you almost an hour before you can sit down, relax and have breakfast on your table. Waiters and waitresses are busy walking and clearing, but they don’t even notice if they have new guest that needs coffee or tea first on their table. If the breakfast is not included to your room you will pay $25 dollars, do you think the hassle and lack of selection is worth it paying on that price? I don’t think so. I’m not really recommend this place, unless it’s free upon check in to the hotel.

Nice meal

By Ramadama |

We used a Groupon for dinner. We had the Duck Confit pizza...which was delicious. The mussels in white wine sauce was ok...not great. The seafood Cappelli was good as was the mushroom pasta. The restaurant and service was very nice and it is close to all of the theaters. For $32.80 that we paid for the Groupon is was a very nice experience.

Great!

By Hasime Q |

Great foo and service, will definitely go back! Amazing dishes, so hard to chose one. Great selection of appetizers and salads which I love.

Shocked by the excellent quality

By Paul T |

This restaurant is in the Hilton Garden Inn. We stayed there for 3 days and after a long drive we decided to grab some food before going to the theater. Wow. I am shocked by how good this place was. We had a pasta with meat sauce dish and ravioli with seafood. Both were excellent. Staff was attentive. Had drinks here one night on their mini partially glassed in balcony. Drinks were good but inconsistent. Ordered two of the same drinks on two different nights and all 4 tasted different but good. The tiramisu was one of the best I have ever had. It's pricey but it is NYC after all. Enjoy.

Fantastic service with a view

By Michael H |

Totally unexpected and a complete surprise is all that comes to mind as I begin to write about the professional and attentive service and excellent food at Paul's. With thanks to the handsome and personable Henry , our lovely waiter, everything was served piping hot from the kitchen and presented elegantly. The pizza was nice, but the arugula salad was very good. The pasta Bolognese was like Mama made and the pappardelle with wild mushrooms and cream could have been flown in from La Pergola- Rome's best restaurant, also in a Hilton hotel. All this was matched with a delicious though probably very overpriced Italian merlot. If the focaccia was served warm with the fruity olive oil, it would have added to the memorable dinner. But I would return just to enjoy the 5 star service offered by that charming Henry!!!!

good location and service

By M S |

What can you say about the location its in the heart of Times Square. The service was good, but the food was not good the Pizza was the worst we had in New York

Bad service

By Mikesgbear1 |

Hotel advertises happy hour with five dollar sky vodka. When I got there they said they don't have sky vodka choice and what is the replacement can I have absolute and I was told I can only get smeared off which is not equivelant to sky. When I asked him and she is absolutely and I was told regular price and I said well then why don't you take down the sign that's in front of your building saying sky vodka five dollars I was told to bring customers in. Then we explain to them that we don't have it and we offer other choices. Poor business

Surprisingly great resturant

By Jeffrey C |

I only say surprisingly because we had researched so many restaurants in the area and decided to just eat at our hotel one night which is where Paul's is located. Nice elegant atmosphere with a small area open to the outside. Nice staff with assistants to refill drinks and quickly keep table clean. I happen to choose the Ossobuco which I can say was the best I have ever had, perfectly seasoned fall off the bone tender. The orso with brown gravy was awesome, only wished there was a little more as the meat out lasted the orso. Paul's was a nice surprise inside the Hilton Garden Inn on Times Square.

A Very Pleasant Find and Surprise

By HNBISOFF |

Paul’s on Time Square was a very pleasant surprise. We were not expecting the quality of food to be as good as it was. The bruschetta was outstanding. The entrees were excellent and the tiramisu was delicious. I understand how Paul’s was a Circle of Excellence award winner. In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we ate at Paul’s twice during a 5 day stay!

Great Food, Average Service

By gcv77 |

This restaurant is inside the Hilton Garden Inn at Times Squares, however, it is not part of the hotel. I went to this hotel for a business trip and I decided to try Paul's for dinner. The food was delicious and portion was fine. I found prices reasonable. I arrived late and after dinner I decided to take some drinks in the bar before they close the restaurant. So, after several drinks, when I ask for the check, the Russian waitress add the gratitude to the account, about 30%. I guess she thought I would not verify the account because I was drinking maybe too much, but I did. I didn't like it, it felt like she was taking advantage of the situation. I was tired and didn't complaint, after all, the food was really good.

Groupon deal

By Neil H |

Superb!!! Fantastic pizza and pasta in a great location with a few outdoor terrace tables. $45 for two appetisers and entrees. Great service also. Not one fault. Admittedly we did visit at 15:00 so not that busy.

Great evening!

By Joann H |

Groupon offer was just as promised. And, we were there during happy hour...pitcher of sangria for $20. The food was great. We had beef carpaccio, calamari, bolognese, and pasta with cremini mushrooms and creme truffle sauce. We decided to end it with coffee and tirimisu. The food was excellent...as well as the service. We were unrushed...five hours...as we met up with others to end the evening. Nice setting. Would definitely return!

Great food - Poor service

By Christine M |

I visited Paul's with my family of 6. Pizza was phenomenal. Meatball hero was good. However, the waitstaff was busy socializing. We had to ask multiple times for drink refills. It was my niece's birthday, so I approached our waiter and asked if we could surprise her with a cake. He said we could. Next thing we knew, our waiter had changed into street clothes and was walking out the door, never saying a word to us. We thought, maybe he had passed our request to one of the waitresses. Nope. We had to request our bill and left disappointed.

Don't be put off by location

By Ellenmail |

We stayed at the Hilton in which Paul's is located. Upon check -in we received a 20% off coupon which I immediately threw away. I was NOT going to eat at a restaurant in a hotel on Times Square with all those fabulous restaurants in town. Well, circumstances forced us to dine here and am I ever glad we did!! It is a cool, chic spot adjacent the main lobby. The restaurant was packed, we had a reservation and were promptly seated. The service was terrific and attentive. We each had the prosciutto and arugula pizza and shared a Gorgonzola salad. Everything was spot on delicious! We made it to the theater with time to spare. I would eat here again in a heartbeat!

Tasty dishes, big portion!

We were looking for a pre-theater spot in Midtown, and found this spot. It is located inside Hilton Garden Inn. You had to go down the hall to the elevator, and go up to “Paul’s on Time Square”. The inside was not as big as I expected it to be, but nice and cozy. It is kind of a mix of casual and semi-formal from the look of it. Their complimentary bread were sooo good, it disappeared within seconds! We asked for more, and they brought out twice as much for us. Yum! We ordered Calamari Fritti to share. Since one of us is not a fan of anything spicy, they also gave us regular marinara sauce too, thanks! They were plump and huge portion! We all enjoyed them! For main, we had Branzino Di Chile Piccata, Salmone Alla Cartoccio, and Capellini Ai Frutti Di Mare. Branzino was cooked perfectly, Salmon was packed with flavor, but it could’ve come with a bit more veggies… Seafood Pasta was a nice big portion, with a generous amount of seafood. Filling and satisfying. Since we all enjoyed our meal, we decided to get one dessert to share. We ordered Tartufo to share among the four of us. It was a big hit at the table, everyone enjoyed it! We had a nice dinner here. It was relaxing, never rushed yet everything came out in a timely manner. We had plenty of time to get to our Broadway show. The servers were really friendly and polite, we were very well taken care of. I say it is a bit on pricey side, but it is in midtown…

Disappointed

Stayed at hotel and sign outside on sidewalk advertised happy hour. Sign was out all day. Went and then we were charged regular price and told they brought the sign in prior to start of happy hour - very misleading. Have been to Paul's on prior occasions with no issues but this was very upsetting.

An excelllent dining experience surpassing all our expectations.

By David734NewYork |

An excelllent dining experience surpassing all our expectations. We choose Paul’s on a night we had theatre tickets to be close to our show. We were four people and there was enough food to have fed 8. We started with two “standard” appetizers and two individual pizzas. We didn’t realize that was enough food when we ordered. We ordered four entrees as well. Paul’s has a very nice menu. We had no problem selecting dishes. The restaurant ambience is light and airy. There was no problem with noise and we had pleasant conversation. All our food was prepared superbly. Everyone loved what they ordered. Our server, Henry, was excellent. Henry took care of us and we were not rushed. When we left the hostess handed us a business card worth 20% on our next visit which I’m sure we will use. Paul’s is located in The Hilton Garden Hotel on 42nd Street a few feet east of 7th Avenue. You take an elevator to Paul’s Restaurant. The hotel’s greeter pressed the proper button for us.

Good option for dining in Times Square

Who Needs a View When Great Food is Right in Front of You

I purchased a Groupon because I was intrigued why a restaurant in Times Square would want to offer such a price point. Note that it is located in the Hilton east of Times Square on 42nd Street and not the one west of Times Square on 42nd Street. Although promoted as having a view of Times Square it really does not so not be disappointed. I had made a reservation but was available earlier so I appreciated that we were able to be seated in what was an energetic looking dining room. We were started with a small cubes of seasoned bread with some pureed olives in olive oil … really! Our order included: Insalata Mista Organica ($14) – Assorted organic baby greens with grape tomato, lemon olive oil served in a whole tomato. Very good. Carpaccionne Di Manzo ($19.50) – Raw beef w/Arugala and shaved parmesan cheese with a lemon edge. I loved it. Capellini Ai Frutti di Mare ($26.50) - Shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, conch with cherry wine tomato sauce. It was top notch. Penne Vodka Al Salmone ($24) – Pasta with seared smoked salmon with light crème, tomato Rockefeller vodka sauce. Another winning dish. Note that if there is no balance on the bill because of the Groupon so you need to leave a cash tip.

Bar and restaurant at the Hilton Gardens with a terasse overlooking 42nd street

The food was good the servers attentive, and friendly. We had the Caesar salad which was good, chicken noodle soup freshly made, pizza, nothing special aside from the fresh basil and chicken Marsala, which had a distinctive mocked flavor. The hostess should be more welcoming...and smiling as she greets guests. The servers were perfect.

Amazing!

My boyfriend was visiting New York City for the first time so I wanted him to have the experience of eating in/near Times Square. I found this Groupon and it looked perfect... and indeed, it was! We were sat outside with a great view of the center of Times Square. We each ordered an appetizer, main course, and dessert. We also ordered a drink. Though we each ordered different items, everything was delicious. The staff was also very accommodating and attentive, which made the experience even better.

Great St Patrick's Day Trip

By Greg H |

While in NYC to see Broadway plays, go to museums, and watch the St Patrick’s Day parade, we (two of us) stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. While there, we had cocktails and dined at the hotel’s restaurant, Paul’s on Times Square. Paul’s is an excellent hotel restaurant that serves classical New York style pizzas and a variety of appetizers and entrées. Because we were often on our way to a Broadway play, we wanted to eat lightly and so generally choose appetizers that turned out to be amply filling. Among them was a unique bruschetta that featured a toasted-on sheep ricotta beneath the marinated tomato topping. Paul’s yellow squash soup was also delicious. At one meal, we both had shrimp cocktails that boasted a generous multi-set of large shrimp, with avocado-topped cocktail sauce. Unfortunately, Paul’s beer selections lacked good quality, dark, craft beers such as porters and stouts… something that should be added to accompany the pizza. However, we discovered an excellent imported wine, a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Stone Castle Vineyards and Winery in Kosovo. Paul’s liquor selections were also somewhat limited, but that might be currently due to supply-chain issues. Paul’s waiters and bar tenders were friendly, prompt, and efficient. One evening there, we encountered the proprietors and principals themselves dining at the bar. They were also in the process of assisting a distraught restaurant hostess who had just had her cell phone stolen. So, we were able to meet and interact with Paul, Nikko, and Dino who were extremely sociable and were laudably helping a line-staff employee. We learned also of their assistance to first responders during the COVID-19 shutdown and watched them helpfully interact with NYPD officers that came to investigate the phone robbery. Although there are a few shortcomings (beers, hard liquor selections), we give Paul’s high marks for its food quality, staff, and management. We look forward to dining at Paul’s On Times Square on our next trip to NYC.

Groupon Made This Affordable!

By Race2Win |

We came in from the street and went up an elevator to get to this restaurant. I had purchased a Groupon and made a reservation in advance as instructed and we were greeted and seated promptly. We were seated very close to the couples on each side of us, so close that they ended up in our conversations and so close the waiter could not even walk between our tables. I would like to have been spaced out just a little more. Looking at the menu, I was glad I had bought the Groupon because if I hadn't, this would have most certainly put a dent in our dining budget for the remainder of our stay. We ordered appetizers (salads) and pasta meals as instructed by our Groupon. Our arugula salads were excellent and lightly seasoned. While my traveling companion is a full Italian and clearly understood the pasta dishes on the menu, I am not nearly as knowledgeable so it took me a little time to order. I love spicy food so he suggested I order the black linguine scampi with spicy tomato and shrimp. Unfortunately, I honestly believe the chef accidentally forgot to season it because it didn't have much of a taste beyond a very mild tomato sauce. My companion found his entree to be acceptable and suggested I salt mine. That helped a little, but I was disappointed the heat was nowhere to be found. Because I am not one to complain, I just went ahead and ate it as it was served. Overall, the atmosphere of this restaurant was nice and the service we received was excellent, but I am not a regular fine diner and enjoy more casual-style moderate-priced restaurants that give me a little more personal space to eat and socialize.

Bad service, food and drink

By DJ-GalaWestlund |

This were our first restaurant We ate at during our New York trip. We got seated and it took them 15min to even come and ask us What we wanted for drinks, and the place was not full. I ordered the Rib eye and for the price it Did not taste Good at all. Felt like it was prepared before and just heated up. The drink tasted like a quick drink I had when I was a teenager. Would not recommend this place at all.

Good spot for a lunch in the city!

By idatom |

We got a Groupon for $45 for two for lunch. It allowed for each of us to get an appetizer, pizza or salad along with a pasta dish. Since we had never been to Pauls, we decided to give it a try! Located on the 4th floor of The Hilton Garden Inn. They start serving at noon so works well for lunch before the theatre, We were promptly seated and given a menu. Prices were reasonable....however, once the waitress realized we were using a Groupon, she took the menu and returned with a special menu in which prices were pumped up much higher! The offerings were different and some pasta dishes we would have prefered were not available. My wife prefers alfredo sauce over reds, but they would not substitute. I think the higher prices were to inflate the amount of gratuity. In any case, we shared pizza and fried calamari first and they both were excellent and plentiful! A meal in itself. I had the Rigatoni with eggplant and tomato which was very good. My wife had the orichette with sweet italian sausauge and broccoli rabe in garlic oil. It was OK, but flavor was not the best. I would go back without a groupon and eat other selections off the regular priced menu. The restaurant is well located for theatre district. Staff was pleasant, food freshly prepared and we had a nice lunch.

Horrible staff service. Do not recommend especially for the price you pay

Disgusting service we received when my mum and I visited your restaurant on New Year's Eve last week! Firstly when I visited the restaurant on xmas day to make sure my reservation was still booked the woman at the desk was rude and said that a manager will send an email to me with my reservation email that I need to print and bring with me. I did not hear anything for a few days so 2 days before New Years Eve I went back as I was getting worried. The same blonde woman was standing there and was rude saying she tried calling me all day to change the time of the reservation. She showed me the number she dialled and it was her mistake for dialling the wrong number but was rude to me making out it was my fault So on new years eve when we were looking at the menu a waitress named Ardijana came to us after 1 minute of sitting down and was trying to rush us to order and when I said we are not ready yet. She gave me a dirty look and strutted off with an attitude. So we ordered our food after being rushed in to it. I asked her what time the restaurant closes and she said 2am. So whilst we were still eating our mains she came with the bill and asked if we were going to order anything else and we said not sure yet. However she slammed the bill on the table and walked off. To our disgust we stopped eating and drinking and paid the $72.40 bill. I did not tip her as she was so rude to us. She took the bill and came back and said why haven’t you given me a tip. I asked her if it was mandatory or optional and she kept saying optional but demanded the money. I did not understand her just as she did not understand my question so I kept asking her. She was so rude and turned around to me and said “Before coming to new york you need to Google the rule tip” so I snapped back at her and said well actually I have been here many times and in all restaurants it is optional whether I give a tip or not no one can make any customer give a tip!!!! She kept arguing with me but I didn’t back down!!! She then walked off. I was so angry I spoke to another waitress and asked if it is mandatory to give a tip and the waitress said NO. So I am right in every way to not give her a tip with that behaviour. I then requested to speak to a manager who took a few minutes to come over. I then spoke to her and she was making excuses that they were busy and she wouldn’t have meant it etc. she was defending her which I did not appreciate. So after lying they were closing at 2am we got chucked out at 7.15am. The waitress then kept giving me dirty looks when walking up and down We stayed in the Hilton garden inn waiting for the ball to drop for New Year. The owner was sitting there but I didn’t get a chance to speak to him and I didn’t want my mood getting ruined anymore. The manager also received a complaint about staff not allowing them to go inside to use the toilet and the owner went to handle that situation So after receiving this disgusting service, I had food poising for the rest of my trip!!!

So nice

By stacyspringston |

We had breakfast here via the Hilton for 4 mornings. The breakfast is great! We decided to eat here one evening rather than walk another step in manhattan (after covering a lot during the day) and I will say that the evening atmosphere is different than the morning. The staff was great but probably not the best for small kids. Our meal was great! The service was exceptional and the selection is great! Good choice for an (adult/grown up) night out.

Hidden tranquility just off Times Square

By JimboMalibu_CA |

We found Paul's on NYC Restaurant Week and wanted a place we could dine at before a 7pm show. Paul's is located in Hilton Garden Inn (on second floor) so a bit hard to find. It is a modern restaurant with nice size tables and a friendly and attentive staff. We had 3 course pre fixe with wine and it was pleasantly paced over an hour so we could make the show. The chicken Marsala was excellent as was the salmon pasta (not over cooked). Great calamari appetizer to start and tiramisu to finish. This is a good spot in Theatre District.

A nice meal (pricey by midwestern standards)

By HTOTMO |

A group of 6 stayed at the hotel and decided to eat here for a pre-theater dinner. Italian menu had great selections. Service adequate but not spectacular. Portions average. Being from the Midwest, the prices seemed high to us, and we were not used to the stiff sales tax and mandatory gratuity. HOWEVER, every dish we ordered was exceptionally tasty. If cost is a factor, consider splitting a dish. Highly recommend the pasta dishes! Would return.

Nice surprise

I was going to the theater with a friend and we needed to find a restaurant nearby. There was a great Groupon deal on Paul's and I never expect too much from Groupon but in this case I was pleasantly surprised. The location was super convenient. The atmosphere was really pleasant and I really enjoyed the meal. The service was attentive and friendly. Overall this was a nice find and I am sure I'll be back.

Really enjoyed Paul’s. The food was good and also the service. The seafood we had was not that good. Would not recommend anything that has seafood. Would recommend this restaurant.

Delicious Italian in a Modern Setting

By AdventureLass |

I have to agree with other TA reviewers, what a great find. As a guest of HGI, I was pleased to find a decent restaurant and bar located within the property. Paul's is located in the lobby of the hotel. The decor is modern but comfortable. The bar area is primarily high tops or seating along windows that overlook 42nd street. Scoring any of these seats is a neat bonus. The wait staff was some of the finest I've experienced and the manager checked in with me twice. As a solo diner, this doesn't happen often. My calamari and pasta were absolutely delicious. The wine pairing suggested by the waiter was spot on. For me, the lighting was too dark for dinner - I prefer to see what I'm eating - but otherwise I have no complaints. Paul's is open for lunch and dinner and the prices are moderate for NYC by comparison. This space is also where the hotel serves breakfast to its guests. During dinner there were wide ranges of diners from locals, families, business groups, solos, and tourists. I would absolutely welcome the opportunity to dine here again. Or try to snag one of those seats along the windows!

Loved it.

Just came back from eating at Paul's. It was great. The food was excelent and not overprized. A big thanks to Arturo our server. He fulfilled all my wishes. Next year we will return without any doubt. Great restaurant in a great hotel.

Pleasant surprise

By waterandmore |

We arrived at our hotel at 10 pm after traveling from the West Coast. We decided to have a glass of wine and have a small bite. We were very pleasantly surprised by the selection of wines and enjoyed excellent shrimp cocktail served with avocado and very good beef carpaccio. We shared a burger the next day for lunch before going to a show. The burger was very good, cooked perfectly as ordered and french fries were very good. We did not have a chance to try any of the pastas, but did enjoy another wine selection before dinner elsewhere.

Convenient

By Jeff F |

While staying in the hotel we enjoyed dinner a couple of nights being too tired out from appointments and sightseeing. The Margarita pizzas were good albeit missing the actual tomatoes, Nicely tender but crisp crust with good flavor. I also enjoyed the Insalata Di Burrata Caprese and the Salmone Alla Cartoccio which was done perfectly with a crispy skin. One night we tried the Calamari and were very disappointed. It was obviously frozen and not prepared to be crispy at all. Very bland, unappetizing and missing my favorite- tentacles. Service was excellent from the friendly greeting to perfect execution by the attentive servers. The menu has many options that should satisfy most.

Loud

Waiters don’t speak English. I asked if the goat cheese pizza had tomatoes, he said yes. It did not. It was impossible to have a conversation, the acoustics are awful.

Great gluten free pizza but a little expensive

By Dustin S |

Ordered a gluten-free pizza with sausage and pepperoni. It was excellent so I ordered again the next day. It was almost $30 for just the pizza so I can't claim that it's a great value but the taste and service were both excellent.
