a nice mix of convenience and healthy food options.

By sekratzer |

I asked the concierge of the hotel at which I stayed (The Westin New York Central) for health-oriented food options and she suggested the place next door - Pax Wholesome Foods. This was a great recommendation - right next door, lots of healthy food from which to choose, fast service.

Good food, good price

By Raúl Juárez |

I really liked this place. They have good food and cheap prices, Since, you're time is tight while in Manhattan, I recommend taking an Omelet to go, it's well served and will satisfy the hunger for longer.

quick meal

By Naoky T |

Inexpensive, quick service but mediocre food. It is a place for quick bite. Do not expect tasty food. Convenient.

Reliable good food. Great breakfast on the go

By Travelr101 |

Visited the Pax near the Helmsley at 3rd and E 42nd. Well organized and efficiently run. Lots of pre-made salads, bakery goods, fruit drinks, and assorted grab and go foods, all good. Helpful and friendly staff. Good choice if you want healthy fast food.

Great sandwich and soup. Reasonably priced, quick.

By Rhapsodyinblue |

Nice to find a healthy, fairly inexpensive eating option right next to the Helmsley. Large assortment of baked goods, and pre made sandwiches, mine was very fresh. Tomato and avocade on a good sprout whole grain bread. Nice selection of soups, including two which were vegetarian. Great for breakfast or lunch, and the pastries looked great!

DELICIOUS BUT A BIT PRICEY

By mike47TelAviv_Israel |

This is a good place to have breakfast, lunch or a snack. A bit expensive for what they offer, but it all tastes good.

Healthy Food

By Susan B |

Located right next to the Westin Grand Central, this deli is open all day long. The staff is friendly, the service is good, and the variety of food is great.

I had high hopes

By Andi C |

I really had high hopes for this healthy looking cafe. It reminded me of a pret a manger which I had visited in the UK. It was not as good. (Pret a manger are now in the US whoo hoo) The staff were not welcoming or helpful as it was my husband's and my first time there. The salad was average and the soup actually made me sick. Seating was uncomfortable and obviously made so you won't stay very long. It seems fresh on the surface but when you look a little closer, it's really not. It was also a bit expensive. I'm not saying i wouldn't go back but it's not as good as Pret a Manger.

Daily favorite

By Lori H |

Had breakfast and lunch here daily during my business trip. The best food and the best cold pressed juices. Hated to leave and connected with the staff. They were so great!!

Good Quick Food

By MomToBTP |

Wanted something simple and quick to eat and this fit the bill. They have many different types of soup, sandwiches, salads and pizza along with pastries. They have awesome lemonade! My son got a salad (you pick ingredients and they make it) and it was huge for $5. You can eat inside, take it to go or take it across the street to Bryant Park and people watch!

Good and Cheap

By soon2bRN |

In the middle of 42nd Time Square. Good quick service and cheap prices for NY/Time Square standards. Food here was cheaper than the restaurants near our hotel in Hell's Kitchen. $8.14 total for bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes, toast and small coffee. $5.95 for a stack of 3 buttermilk pancakes. This place is a kind of a hidden gem and can be missed if you're not looking for it.

Healthy takeaway and different to other offerings

By Srobbie |

Its often difficult to find healthy food that is well priced and is not the usual pick your own salad option, in the centre of NYC. A chain to be found around the city is Pax. It offers the usual salads, but with many more choices, also quinoa or brown rice plates to which you make additions of your choice. Healthy soups as well. There is something for everyone here, desserts and yogurts, smoothies etc.

Good for a quick meal

By RWandSW |

A nice cheap place to have lunch or snacks while around Times Square; they have tables at the back, we ate here three times during our eight day stop in Manhattan and sat down each time. The shop was busy all three times but most people take-away. They have pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, salads, quiches, bakery items, drinks (hot and cold) and have a breakfast menu too. They do have a small selection of Halal and Kosher sandwiches, which you need to ask about; however, none of the pizzas are Halal or Kosher. You get what you pay for and it is a good stop for lunch; we had tried the pizzas, sandwiches and bakery items.

Great place to Eat!

By Dwayne |

This is a simply a great place to eat. Has a wide array of sandwiches, soups and pasta to satisfy any and all palates. Service was good and the prices very reasonable.

Blech

By ToryY |

We at here because of the location - right next to the Westin. We should have walked a little more. The bread on my daughter's egg salad sandwich was so stale, you would have thought it was toast. I wouldn't let her eat it because I was worried about the safety of the egg salad since the bread was so old. The rest of the food was just plain bad. It looks good in the case, but once you got a closer look, it lost it's appeal. Even though we were hungry, most of the pricey food just went into the trash. Judging what I saw in the trash can, other patrons had the same opinion about the food - just throw it out.

Breakfast

By kar313 |

Quick and friendly. I feel like they were reasonably priced for NYC. Coffee was good, portions were fine.

Nice place to have a quick bite

By ssarraf |

Right opposite to Madam tussauds, This is good place to have quick bite, Good Pizza collection, Great Salad options. Amazing collection for sandwiches. This place offers good options for vegetarians and offer sitting as well.

Great breakfasts

By Mike353632 |

This restaurant is right next door to the Westin New York Grand Central Hotel, The food is prepared to order by a very friendly staff. We had breakfast here on both mornings we were in the City.

The best place to eat breakfast

By MindyTampere |

If you are staying in a nearby hotel then this is the place to eat breakfast. Far more better breakfast than eating at McDonalds or Applebee's - tried them both as well. This restaurant does not look inviting from outside but it is definetely a very good place to eat. They serve several kinds of breakfast: yoghurt&muesli, omelettes, sandwiches, bacon&egg etc. Orange juice tastes freshly pressed. Service is good and friendly and especially the breakfast cook is amazingly friendly and decent guy. They serve pizza, salad and soup for lunch. We ate several kinds of pizza and it was tasty although spinach pizza was a bit too spicy for me. Can highly recommend this place for nice and delicious eating.

Excellent For Quick Bite

By dhen |

Stopped into a Pax and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of foods. We had a wrap, soup, made while you wait omelette, baked goods and drinks and everything was fresh and tasty. Quite a bit of table space and it was a fairly clean environment. Lots of sandwiches to chose from. Had a turkey wrap that delicious. Soups were home made and also were healthy tasting. One of our better "quick eat" choices this trip.

Good selection, Quick

By Murry S |

Near our hotel, good place to stop for quality foods. Strong selection, fast service, hot coffee, quality everywhere.

So-So Could be Much More

By Emil F |

While staying at the Hilton on Times Square we decided to grab a bite at Pax Wholesome Foods - we had heard many great things. The staff was cold, rude and uncaring, I was shocked. The food looked appetizing; however, it seemed a bit of trouble to order and be served. These people do not like their jobs. Going back.........don't think so.

Place is average

By duke o |

The food is average and a little high for what you get. You can find better sandwiches at other locations for the same price or cheaper.

Lots of options

By Sarah_0108 |

Cheaper than hotel prices and lots to choose from. Mainly went here for breakfast as it was next door to our hotel. They do offer breakfast items and lunch.

Average food on the way to Port Authority

By marcian |

The location is on the way to Port Authority, where the mass of people rushing to get to the buses (line to enter the BB King Club next to PAX was much bigger, then the line inside PAX). Prices are also NY like, a small soup for $4.25, small pre-order salad ($3.25) was expended with other ingredients for an extra $5. Unisex bathroom is a mess, we would not eat here again.

Always a smile

By julie f |

These guys work so hard. Are really helpful and nothings to much trouble. Thanks guys you made my stay in the big Apple enjoyable.

Good Healthy Food

By Mm145 |

Freshly made pasta, with your choice of addition and sauces and served hot and tasty - a rarity in any large town. Located very close to Macy's it is a great place to order good fresh food such as salads and sandwiches. Better than all these carts and vendors on the streets. The basil pesto sauce has a little too much oil in it - so avoid that if you are watching calories!

Great for breakfast

By MaggsK1910 |

Excellent deli for breakfast/ lunch. Lovely soup and salad, great porridge and fruit, bagels etc. as well as pancakes etc. Very good prices too!

Great for breakfast

By CharlieAntrim |

Great quick service with quality food at very reasonable prices and very friendly staff. We went to the one on East 42nd right next door to the Westin New York Grand Central hotel every morning during our 6 day New York stay. Highly recommend.

Good food, many choices

By Sharon H |

This place is great food, great prices, easy for everyone to select what they want. Right on the middle of Time Sq. Across from McDonald's more or less. They have breakfast lunch and dinner.

Good Breakfast and Inexpensive

By MaryBeth050 |

We spent much time looking for affordable meals in New York. This place had good food and it didn't break the bank.

Weekend Birthday Trip to NYC

By Cinderelly80 |

This little place was very convenient to our hotel, had a little bit of everything to choose from, both food and drink wise. We were celebrating a friends birthday so we got some cupcakes - they look great but weren't the best tasting. The sprinkled cupcake was way to sweet and the carrot cupcake was on the dry side. We got some cookies that were pretty good though.

YUMMY!

By TravelingLamas91717 |

I'm honestly not sure if this is the exact address, but they have so many locations, I assume they'd all have the same food. This was delicious, & fresh, and the soup was so good for a cold freezing day. Veggie Soup & Chicken Noodle is what we had, and they were really tasty. Service was OKAY- but I went for food lol

good value

By Victoria R |

My husband bougth breakfast for us everyday and brought it back to the hotel. Well-priced and wholesome

Great fresh salad, choose your own ingredients

By TipperNC |

Stopped here twice for lunch and got the salad to go both times. Ingredients were very fresh and healthy. Dressing was tangy and delicious. Limited seating but plenty of places outside to eat. Highly recommended for health conscious eaters and salad lovers. Very good.

Interesting food

By Nick P |

Right next to the Westin Grand Central the sandwiches were interesting and tasty. The prices were a little high for the value but this is New York.

Great place for a quick breakfast or lunch

By amjs13501 |

From made to order breakfast wraps to quick grab-and-go sandwiches at lunch, this was a repeat stop on a recent trip to NYC. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable for good food - fast.

Ok it's cheap and cheerful so what do you expect?

By Jemark38 |

Had an okay experience the food was not up to much, but the staff and service more than compensated, cheap about half the price of alternative venues but you know about it, would not go back again.

Great breakfast for the price

By zipidydoodah |

Everything was fresh and a much better option than the LCL in the Westin. Needs free wifi like the aroma bar had

Not bad

By FlushingJoe |

Very crowded but it is new york..salads..quesadillas..pasta..bakery products. Reasonable but ordering is a bit challenging as you need to pick from item 1 and then 2 and two choice from somewhere else..good if you like to make your own dish but rather have a set menu.

great on the go

By Luv2Travel26 |

Excellent place to grab a quick snack or light lunch while exploring the city. Had breakfast there almost every morning during our stay in NY and it was just fine! Good alternative to starbucks.

Very Good, not great

By Howard K |

I frequent this Pax establisment approximately once a week. Their salads are made fresh to order and are quite good. The sandwiches, however, are just okay as they are pre-made and the bread tends to get hard.

Fresh tasty food for sit down, or to go

By Ina_31 |

We enjoyed the choice of fresh sandwiches, wraps, salads and pizza varieties. The food was tasty and we enjoyed a quick dinner late in the evening after a long day visiting New York.

good and afordable breakfast!!!!

By Glory S |

it was next door to the hotel, so we tried it for breakfast. It was very good, nice price. You paid about $6.oo for eggs, toast, ham and potatoes. The selection of fruits are very ggod and fresh. My daugther had a package of cut orange every day. the peacan pie very good. I love the greek yogurt, with fruits, granola and honey. We stayed 7 days in New York and had breakfast 5 of them. the other two days we end up paying $ 14 for the same breakfast. I prefer to save my money for a good dinner not for breakfast.

Love it!

By christpost |

We have our breakfast routine, when visiting New York City: Bagel with cream cheese and a coffee. Always delicious at Pax! The salads are great too.

Great eats

By shuggs30 |

What a fantastic find! Great bakery, had to drag my wife out of there. The pizza is phenomenal! Good prices on the various items. Only con is it so good it is busy and has limited seating.

Breakfast fit for a queen

By Nisty_13 |

Wanted to get take out and eat at my hotel. Saw this place behind scaffolding and sidewalk renovation just outside my hotel. Weather was not conducive to walking around, so I went in, saw the menu and ordered an omelette. It was made to order. Spinach, mushrooms, red onions 2 types of cheese and fresh eggs. Omelette came with home fries and a meat. They packaged it so it would stay warm and travel a little way to my hotel. I added a coffee in my room and it hit the spot. Staff was friendly.

Good for quick bites

By Amer K |

Decent prices. Consistent fresh and healthy food. If you eat cleanly and need a quick bite. This is the place for you.

Breakfast for two for under $25

By FuhrerFamily |

We were staying in Time Square, and didn't want to pay $18 each for a Continental breakfast at the hotel, so the Front Desk told us about PAX. We found it and they made the BIG Omelettes to order. The flavor was good, the homemade toast was AMAZING! And we didn't leave hungry! For less than $25!!!

Fast Real Food - Pre Made Deli

By Shusha50 |

When time is short and you don't want a burger and fries. Most things are pre-made, but if you want an omelet at 10 PM. This is a good alternative. Eat at the restaurant or packed to go.

Great Food

By YNP4Us |

Lovely modern clean restaurant. Great breakfast food, made to order, fresh juices n fruits. Muffins. Lunch foods as well and all the foods are "different", not your boring traditional breakfast and lunch fare, which is a refreshing change.

Nice salads, make it as you like it!!!

By travelmtlgirl |

I really love this fast food place, because you can make up your own salad... order a sandwich, pizza or soup... it has it's healthy option that you can choose according to your type of diet....

Food ok, prices good for ny! Not as clean as could be!

By longball4 |

ate there for breakfast twice and lunch once. Right next to our hotel. I don't like when they throw my breakfast sandwich. The catcher squishes it! lol

(Sisters from holland)

By Maxime N |

Very kind staff, lovely food, everything is prepared fresh! We came back 5 times in a row! I would definitely recommend to go there! (Salads are amazing!)

Quick Breakfast

By Peerli |

A bit mad until we understood what we were doing! Easily sorted, plenty to choose from, great prices, fast service, quality fast food. Could "grab and go" or sit in the restaurant area but was all self service. We went to several different ones of these and received the same service in both

Fast Breakfast next to Westin

By cwm0812 |

The prices are much better than ordering room service and they open at 6am. I would suggest the combo #1 or a bagel and fruit cup.

Easy eats, healthy, good prices!

By RNtra |

I am so sad I didn't find this place until a day before we left. Healthy fast food, lots of great healthy options to go or to stay. Salads, yogurts, paninis, american bkfst. Delcious, clean well organized.

Cook freshly pasta when you order

By LaylaM |

After we’d been to Empire State Building, we’re looking for a restaurant to sit and get warm at the same time, most of chain restaurants are full. This restaurant was empty, which is really good for me and my fiancé, I’ve ordered Linguini Alfredo, he ordered Meat Lover Spaghetti. We also shared one slice of cheese cake, that is really really good taste. It was cook fresh and it is very nice taste. So you know it is safe to eat it. They also serving salads , sandwiches and certain snacks. It has second floor, that more tables and chair, but we decided to sit next to the door. Prices are reasonable, not too expensive.

AMAZING

By Katekeeprunning |

OMG this place doesn't look great from the outside but the food is outstanding - don't miss it when going to New York

not your standard chain

By tripopinonsw |

Fast, friendly, fresh, quality and great value. excellent choice of options and located right next to Westin

Just okay....

By Mai H |

Pax was just okay. Handy for the hotels around Grand Central, but very much a 'take-out' deli, though there are seats. The special breakfasts were disappointing as quite greasy, with all foods lumped into one polystyrene tray. The salads, however, we excellent, as was the fresh fruits.

Fantastic food, great service!

By FlyingDutchman32 |

This place is awesome and has a great selection of food and drinks. Wraps, sandwiches and fresh made pasta! The service is excellent and the prices are decent for New York. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch AND dinner at PAX!

Good quick and reasonable

By cavedog117 |

This was a good find, right to and much cheaper than the hotel light fare restaurant. Service was fast, polite, and with a smile. The process are as good or better than other breakfast places on the area.

NY breakfast

By Andy M |

This eatery is dead opposite Madam Tussauds on 42nd street. We used this place for breakfast 12 years ago and we again used it last week so that should be a good recommendation as you don't go back if you weren't impressed. From the outside it looks old and basic, but the menu is exactly the same as when we used 12 years ago, so it must work. If you over easy eggs, fried potatoes and crispy bacon with toast and coffee before a long day and all for about 8 dollars this is the place to go. We will use it again in the future.

After Aladdin on broadway

By cnanrw |

Stopped by after seeing "Aladdin" (great show, by the way), it was nearby and quick. Very large selections of pizza, sandwiches, soup and salads. Two of us got a pizza slice (typically large NY size) and one got a sandwich. Steak and cheese pressata (sandwich) was very tasty and not dried out as all the sandwiches sit in a refrigerated display case. They toast it before serving. Not a bad place. We almost went again but another place caught our eye. And we always try to go to different places when we travel.

Good cheap food

By Ryan M |

I stayed at the Westin hotel which is next door to this cafe. I never once ate anything at the hotel. This cafe is great, cheap food that is tasty. The place is very well run, they have an army of workers behind the counter that get you food ready in no time. I had breakfast here everyday, the omelettes is lethal. You can chose 3 toppings and it comes with toast and fried potatoes, all for under $8. I also ate here for lunch some days if I was around the hotel and even in the evenings if I got hungry. The staff are polite and friendly. As I went here everyday I seen the same staff, one night I was out at a bar and I came across one the staff. We had a quick chat and I think she is a lovely girl. Anyway, this place is fantastic!

Nice variety for vegetarians!

By Meodie1313 |

The tomato basil soup is delicious and penne with pesto and almonds was delicious! Lots of seating. Friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

good food and prices

By Siby C |

the service is good and the food is satisfying... a great diner like experience , the restaurant is clean and there is a wide assortment of choices on the menu

Great options!

By Courtney D |

We hit this place a couple times during our stay. They have A build your salad bar with fresh ingredients, yummy sandwiches, and several different pizza options. Right on 42nd St., it's located right in the heart of Times Square.

Choices

By Dizymaus |

Great pizza, very fresh, easy to get to. They had many offerings, we got mushrooms and they were overflowing on the pizza. Great place to stop and eat to get off the treadmill!!!!

Perfect all-round healthy food joint.

By Kare L |

Perfect all-round healthy food joint. Open until late and serves a great variety of breakfast, lunch and even late night lighter meals. Great sandwiches and salad bar.

Quick service, great location....

By DWG1971 |

Ate breakfast there everyday of our stay, very reasonable by NYC standards and food was fresh and tasty.

Good for purpose

By RonWamberal |

Good food for a quick snack, enjoyed the chicken pressata as a take out, excellent value at only $8.95

Fabulous restaurant for on the go or sit down!

By 4Maranda |

We recently visited nyc for the first time, stayed at the Westin at grand central and we ate at Pax every morning. The food was fabulous. Service was fast and efficient and we also loved that they stayed open till 1:00am for those late night cheesecake cravings. Cannot say enough about this place, really top notch! Never ate lunch here but, their salad/salad toppings looked amazing too.

Average lunch

By Norwaybound2012 |

We had visited Pax two years ago and were so impressed with the fresh ingredients, and varied menu. This time we were there around noon on a Sunday, so breakfast was still being offered, instead of quinoa bowls and pasta. We were a bit disappointed, but went for paninis instead. I had the Eggplant Parm which was bland, with too much hots on it. I was not expecting a spicy sandwich. My daughter had chicken noodle soup, which she thought was very good. Next time we will be sure to go during pasta time!

Good for a slice

By Rob B |

We had a slice and cold drinks here after spending several hours in the sun. Pizza was good, drinks were cold and service was friendly. There's not really a lot more to say about the place.

Quick and yummy

By Sashad14 |

Small and hidden spot, great for a quick bite. Came here twice this wkend, had the lobster wrap with the garlic mayonnaise and tomato couscous soup... it was both so good. Big chunks of fresh lobster in the wrap and the tomato soup was really nice and creamy. Before we left the city we stopped by for the cilantro chicken pressed sandwich which was also great. Staff is also quite friendly.

The Pizza is wonderful!

By Miss Val Ruth |

My Mom and I enjoy the Big Tomato, & Mozzerella Pizza it is very good and filling. Sometimes we share a slice or if we're really hungry we eat whole one slice. Stop by and try a slice of this delicious Pizza it is worth the price!

Fresh fast healthy food!

By Meg C |

Fresh ingredients made quickly to order in front of you! Fast and efficient staff! Nice sitting area or can take out to your room , immed next to Westin and across from Hyatt

Convenient Quick

By Rbl525 |

Food is good. As fast as fast food, but its pretty real food. And the cakes are yum. They open early, so its really great for breakfast. And like fast food, you know what they have, so no surprises. Except, again, its real food.

Ummm, salad is good.

By Timothy K |

Pax attempts to do a whole lot of things being that it is a food service place in New York City. You can get your salad tossed after picking out all the different ingredients. You can get a decent stir fry with brown rice, quinoa, or other ingredients. You can also pick from a variety of freshly made sandwiches, salads, and drinks that includes some alcoholic beverages. But on Sundays, you probably cannot get all of that. I walked into the restaurant hungry, after a four hour bus ride that took six and a half hours. Service was pleasant, but limited. I approached the salad station, where I was helped after a woman on a phone walked off after being informed that her ingredients she requested were not available. The woman, ungraciously, walked away. Please be polite for the sake of the employees, but I digress. I asked for some ingredients, namely quinoa and brown rice. I was informed that these ingredients are limited on the weekend because they are refilled only on the weekdays. It was a Sunday. Other ingredients, including bacon, chicken, beets, balsamic vinaigrette, brussels sprouts, chopped tomatoes, and some other vegetables were available. The employee vigorously tossed what was consisting of a largely untossed salad. I also bought a bag of chips, and a liter of water. The total added up to close to $20.00 U.S. Bathrooms were somewhat clean. NYC is always good people watching. The restaurant seems like a step above fast food, but somehow, I just felt confused by the process and the diversity of food choices, combined with the price. But I guess that is what you gotta do to pay the NYC rent...

The Deli Next Door to Westin

By KingsRogue |

Clean; wide range of choices. Food and service was very good morning noon and night. Cup cakes were especially good.

Great location next to the Westin for fresh healthy options

By Beachman727 |

Ate here a few time staying at the nearby Westin. They have fresh made to order pasta with varying options of type, sauce, vegetables - soups, sandwiches etc. We had a breakfast here where everyone got what they wanted made to order as well with eggs, fruit, juices etc. I'd pass on the yogurt/granola which was soggy though. Fast service. Would recommend.

Very handy

By travelmama15 |

Right next door to our hotel. Very handy for a quick snack. Clean, friendly, well-stocked.

Really good food

By 782victoriam |

We went here on our first night in NY as it was close our hotel and we just wanted something quick. Everything we had was delicious. I cannot comment on the eat in service as we took out.

Reliable Overpriced Breakfast

By Tryitoutnow |

I have been coming here for about four years while staying at the Helmsley (now Westin) Hotel next door. They serve a reliable breakfast, overpriced for what you get, but the food is straightforward and acceptable.

Convienant

By carol s |

Great little shop to run into for a quick meal. Location was great. I went in there twice for a snack to take back to room. Small space but lots of everything.

Great place for breakfast or a quick lunch

By Helen W |

We had breakfast twice & ate in, but all the food can be taken away too. Just a warning, stay away from the chorizo breakfast burrito if you don't like very spicy food. I thought I could handle it, but I was wrong!

GOOD FOOD QUALITY PRICE

By Shirley B |

Good and fast service ,Good price, you can also pick up your food and eat it in a park somewhere good prlce to go when you need to eat fast and not too expensive

Tasty, Affordable Choice in Mid-Town

By mcadoo11 |

Looking for an alternative for an over-priced hotel buffet breakfast nearby, we stumbled onto Pax Wholesome Foods. We were pleased to find personalized omelettes in the $8 - $10 range. Pax can accommodate many types of tastes and requirements, with bountiful choices presented when ordering omelettes and other breakfast or lunch items. The sleek Nordic interior, with wood floors and spare table and chairs, with most seating on the upper level, made Pax seem chic as well.

Fantastic healthy quality food

By Mari Brothers |

We loved that Pax was located right next door to our hotel (The Westin New York Grand Central), and we frequented the restaurant during our 5 day stay. They offer a great home-cooked pasta. You put your own pasta meal together by choosing the ingredients from a wide choice. Loved my alfredo pasta with fresh green peas. Breakfast was also a great treat as they offered fresh smoothies and healthy breakfast options i.e. yogurt, muesli and honey. My daughter is vegan and one of her favourite meals of our visit to NYC was the quinoa and chickpea wrap she had at PAX.

Buy food here, take it to Bryant Park & enjoy!

By LizbethMeg |

Choose from fresh fruit salads, delicious home-style soups, wraps and sandwiches. Buy your drinks and desserts if you like, then take it right across the street to Bryant Park and enjoy an affordable, healthy and filling picnic lunch! You can't beat the people watching. Pax is consistent, offers a great variety and for NYC, is fairly affordable. We had lunch for two for under $20.

Bad Employee

By Robbin V |

We stopped in here for a light snack. They have a large variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and pizza. We decided on pizza and sat at one of their tables to wait on them to warm it up. One of the employees from the salad side came over and put something into the warning oven. I could help but notice he had a large bottle of prescription medication in his hands and wonder what was wrong with him. It soon became obvious that he was preparing himself something to eat. He went back over to the salads where he proceeded to grab toppings with his bare hands. I'm not talking about delicately grabbing something with his fingertips, I'm talking about an open handed fistful of toppings. His lack of proper etiquette ruined what would have been a decent experience. I tried to get his name, but he wasn't wearing a tag.

food was good, juice expensive

By lizza13 |

If your looking for a quick breakfast, this will work. Egg and Bacon wraps, sandwiches, omelets, ect. Decent prices too.. We paid under 10$

huge salad varieties!

By Keenan |

Great place to grab lunch on the run with lots of healthy alternatives - made to order salads with every topping imaginable!

Good choice for salads and sandwiches

By Trup |

When I am in Midtown and need to get lunch, I have often turned to Pax Wholesome Foods on 42nd just E. of Third. Almost always I go the salad route -- the ingredients are fresh and tasty; the service is quick and the pricing is reasonable. While not what I would call "outstanding," this place is reliably good!

Good choice for breakfast

By James P |

This is the restaurant that is 2 doors from the Westin Grand Central hotel. The breakfast we had has hot, fast and fresh, and inexpensive compared to the hotel restaurant. Very convenient on 42nd St, just a block east of Grand Central.

Fresh egg sandwiches a bargain

By Muralmakerinnewark |

Husband grabbed a couple of double scrambled egg and cheese sandwiches on a hard roll for $2.75 ea. A great bargain for NYC.

Good for breakfast

By SeaDBoat |

I stopped here twice for a latte and breakfast sandwich. You can custom order a hot breakfast or choose from some ready-made items in the case.

Expensive

By Keith T |

Good selection of items to choose from but ver expensive. Attraction was proximity to hotel we stayed at as it was next door. Lot of other diners nearby that serve same food at half the cost.

Amazing Variety

By amyhass |

I was shocked and almost overwhelmed by the choices!! The salad bar is no average salad bar and was amazing!!! The pizza was perfect! The crust wasn't to thick and the sauce was not overwhelming. Not a very friendly atmosphere, but amazing food! I would definitely go back. My husband also had the raspberry cheesecake and loved it!

Great choice!

By Freaky1954 |

There are a lot of Pax cafes in Manhattan, and we have probably been in most! As vegetarians, my daughter and I are always amazed by the variety of available choices. From soup to sandwiches and salads, everything is tasty. Try the Quinoa or rice bowls... Fantastic and filling!

Delicious find

My friends and I were going to see On The Town (fun show) and stopped in to grab a bite to eat before the show. My friends had sandwiches and they were $8 + tax each. Two friends shared one sandwich and they said that was enough for them. Being gluten free I opted for the make your own salad. You choose your greens, then toppings (I chose veggies @ 50 cents each), then dressing. Great value @ $6.25 + tax and it was very filling and delicious. I didn't eat the roll that came with the salad but it looked fresh and tasty.

Fav breakfast joint

By Mary B |

Clean comfortable. Fast accurate service. Seating at back. Great bagels. Very receptive to food allergies. Very reasonable for breakfast. Great place to pick up snack on way back to Westin after busy day in NYC.

It is simple but good

By atesakinci |

We noticed this places a couple years ago when we were looking a place to eat low calorie lunch. The salad bar is very good. Since then my wife and I go there once or twice every year, i.e. whenever we visit New York. My favorite is spinach salad and I strongly recommend it, You can choose all the add ups yourself, which gives you a creative touch. Have a try.

Solid NYC breakfast

By Jim A |

Pax is a take-out joint, but we were looking for a good bagel and this place has them. Good prices, in and out quickly, its across the street from Macy's. There is a park close by too and that's where we ate.

Good for quick bite to eat

By PARunner30 |

Needed a quick place to stop on the way to a show and decided to stop here. It offered a nice variety to our group -- pizza, sandwiches, salads. I got the turkey with brie, toasted. Nothing to really rave about but not terrible either. The sandwich, bag of chips and fountain soda cost me $14.03 with tax.

Hidden gem

By Lynne B |

This deli is very unassuming from the outside but the food is amazing. Great selection of sandwiches and the flat breads are absolutely delicious, try the steak & cheese or the chicken parmesan. Great pizza popular with our kids. Big selection of cakes too - lovely choc chip muffins! Very reasonably priced, do visit if you are nearby!

Tasty breakfast roll

By SisPerth |

Wandering about and looking for a quick and simple breakfast, Pax looked clean and the foods on display appeared fresh and appetizing. It's counter service, with food served in disposable containers, even when you eat in, but the coffee was decent enough (not always the case in New York City!!) and the egg & cheese roll with bacon, served in a wrapping of al-foil, was actually rather tasty. We later learned this is a chain but it didn't feel that way. The pastries, sandwiches and salads all looked good too and prices were very reasonable.

So much Choice

By Caroline S |

Yes, when you just need something fine...lots of choice, hot or cold. Take a while to take in everything you can have and to be honest just too much choice......

Amazing Cheesecake

By mscowboys |

I have been all over the US and definately the best cheesecake I have ever had. I wish there was one where I live.

A decent choice for a quick fast-food sandwich or salad

By 216LNS |

We needed a bite to eat before getting on a train, and ended up here after deciding we didn't want a more formal restaurant. There are tons of choices--we got paninis they warmed up for us, but you can get salads, pasta, quinoa bowls, quesadillas, etc. Nice healthy choices! The food was just ok, but it was better than a slice of pizza or a burger.

Great Quick Eats

By Max G |

Very good for breakfast and lunch. They do indeed serve wholesome food, some cooked to order. Everyone in the staff is friendly. We had breakfast here on a number of occasions. The quality is consistently good.

Very good and easy

By l0uisea14 |

We really enjoyed a quick lunch here. Great salad, delicious soups and sandwiches. It is right next to the Westin where we were staying and was a staple while we were in the city.

Good food freshly prepared

By Janet H |

Had a couple of breakfast here. Cooked to order. Very pleasant. Also a lunch. Lots of choice including pasta, salads and sandwiches. Very busy at peak times but always found a seat. Shared tables.

One of my favorite places

By T B |

Delicious healthy food from an organization that gives back to society. Breakfast, salads, sandwiches--all delicious. I've never had anything from Pax that I didn't really enjoy. Super nice staff.

Juices are not fresh

By emj713 |

Juices are premade. Very annoying when it takes 20 minutes for nutrients to be lost in a juice/shake Very expensive for what it is

Great Place to Grab Quick Breakfast

By BetterThanRTDTravel |

We stayed at the Westin right next door and this place is great because it's always open and a great spot to grab breakfast. They make all the breakfast right to order: bagels, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, oatmeal etc. They are also open late at night and their pasta bar is great as well. This is a great place to grab something good on the go. I give it 4 out of 5 because the prices are a little high for what you get and the service can be better and more personable. It's like herding cattle during breakfast.

Nice cheesecake, bad service

By nascot |

We grabbed a couple of coffees and a slice of cheescake to have in Bryant Park. The coffee was OK but a little understrength while the cheesecake was very good and was a huge slice. However the service was poor. We had to interrupt the conversation of the 2 girls behind the counter so that we could be served. I then asked if they had forks and was given a sharp reply that they were 'well they're next to the door!' and given a look of disdain. Considering I had never stepped in the place before it wasn't obvious to me.

Great sandwich

By UpstateNYer_10 |

We stopped for food before getting on the bus to head home. The food is fresh and tasty. My friends have been here before and enjoyed it.

Should have looked for a better NY Pizza place.

By Tim C |

This place was across the street from our hotel. We probably should have chose the sandwiches. The pizza was disappointing. This can not be a good representation of NYC pizza. If anyone can tell of a better place in Manhattan let me know.

Amazingly Fast and Friendly Service

By Erin |

These people have a system! I ordered a bagel and a coffee and it was an assembly line of greatness to watch this come to fruition. The food was also delish.

Lovely range of healthy foods any time of day

By LadyRoughDiamond |

Went here three times over 3 days, breakfast here one day and a fresh pasta dish cooked and taken as take-out and also to get a fresh juice. Very clean place, excellent choice of foods very well presented. Only negative would be that some of the staff (not all) were not welcoming, quite sour faced and I felt rushed into making a choice. This seems to be the case in a number of places in NY so I don't know if smiles come at a premium.

Good option for a quick bite on the go

By Sigrid K |

I really like their sandwiches and wraps! They are great and reasonably healthy ;-) Not a cosy place to sit but good service and great for take out.

Convenient and good food

By TanteSam |

Eat-in or take away - good choice of salads, sandwiches and soups. Decent prices and friendly staff. Their pastries and juices are really nice too. On the down side, an effort on the bathroom would be welcome. Not very clean, and no paper.

Awesome food for great prices

By PopeRoman |

Pax is just 50 feet from the Westin Grand Central and offers terrific breakfast food for great prices. I highly recommend the breakfast quiches. You can't go wrong.

Good for a quick bite

By LBskis |

While staying at Westin we had bfast one day and bagels and smoothies another day. Clean, tasty and quick. Would definitely go back.

Good location, inexpensive

By singinggigi |

Recommended by an hotel employee, Pax is very easy to find. Located on 42ND street, Pax offers inexpensive grab and go lunches and breakfast. I ordered the breakfast muffin with sausage and a cup of coffee and ate it in the dining room. It was not bad considering the price of other breakfast places in New York. Breads came out front the oven very early. If you can get in early to avoid the rush. They also offer sausage with eggs and omelet cooked to order.

good choice for breakfast or lunch

By Sporthead |

There was one of these next to our hotel and became our morning breakfast spot. Good food at good prices. Much more selection than was available at the hotel restaurant.

great

By ChrisA721 |

great alternative for an overprized breakfast at the hotel. crowded, but good place and good food that provides a good start for the day. reasonable prizes

Food was poor

By Andrew G |

Excited to try after seeing it on trip advisor and walking past. The coffee was poor and we bought some croissants which were stale and old, definitely not fresh that day. Dissapointed and finding it hard to go back now.

Great food at a decent price

By Vegatarian |

After visiting Madame Toussaud's across the street, we decided to stop in at Pax because it was close and we were starving. Inside, there was a wide selection of food - pizza, wraps, pastries, calzones, sandwiches, breads, and make your own salad. We had two make your own salads, and two stuffed pizzas. Overall, delicious, but be careful with the make your own salad because the price adds up quickly. Would definitely visit again.

Pizza

By Miss Bonafide |

This spot offers freshly made Pizza, Salads, Sandwiches, Fruit & Yogurt etc I was recommended the Cheese pizza and it was good, the slices were big and filling. Next time I'll try a Salad, they looked scrumptious!

Nice place

By WellsM0m |

We had late breakfast here. The food was great, I had an omelette, my daughter had a chicken sandwich. I would recommend Pax and got coffee the next day there. Staff is friendly and efficient.

Eat the Pizza

By Allison S |

I know, I know... It's a "wholesale foods" store. But we stopped in and grabbed a couple of slices of pizza to take back to our hotel and oh my goodness, it was delicious! You won't be disappointed.

Cheesecake

By WhitneyHs |

Great, quick stop for cheesecake on our way out of town. I suggest the chocolate cheesecake! Quick and cheap!

just your average chain

By Marta N |

Had breakfast, was ok, nothing special about it. A little overpriced for what they offer.$5 for o0ne greek yogurt? breakfast sandwich was average

Great, inexpensive breakfasts near Grand Central

By JO'May |

You can great a full breakfast, with a bagel, juice and coffee for under $10.

Quick and easy

By katie856714 |

My cousin and I stayed at the Westin so Pax was right next store and very convenient. Prices were ok and they have all the basics (sandwiches, salads, juices, coffee, hot breakfast options etc). You order then walk down to the cash to pay and they bring it over to that end when it's done. You can sit in or take to go. I thought the omelette breakfast combo was a particularly good deal and delicious. Most employees very nice and service was always pretty quick. Open pretty late but food options are limited later in the evening.

Bad food!

By Timber L |

Really nice people, really bad food. Unless you like junk food, stay away. Very few healthy items. NOTHING for a vegetarian - the salads looked like they'd come out of a box. A few days ago.

Needed the bathroom more than the food

By Diam0nd00 |

We ate pizza here. It was ok. Bathroom was not particularly clean, but it was NYC. I have had much better pizza at the mall food court.

Just right

By travelcat164 |

we wanted to see the sights of NYC, not go broke eating out. Pax was clean, reasonably priced, quick, and had a wide variety of food either to go or to eat there. Just what we needed.

Great for a fast meal

By ronco0807 |

On 42nd Street next to the American Airlines Theater. Large, clean and bright, one orders what they want at the counters and take their food to a table. Portions were ample and prices are reasonable. There is a great variety of pastries and deserts.

Great find!

By Stone236 |

we were waiting for our show to start and ducked in to Pax to get out of the rain/snow mix that was falling. My wife and I shared a cup of their soup, it was great! The folks allowed us to stay even after our soup was finished and they were swamped. We will eat here again our next trip to NYC.

Great food! Great service! Excellent!

By streifen |

Was wandering around Times Square and chanced upon this eatery! Great food can be had here at great prices! The Beef Pastrami Sandwich and Broccoli & Spinach Quiche were great! The dessert, especially the Apple Crumb Bar, are must-tries! Fast service too! Great for takeaway!

Quick

By Traveler2AM |

We needed a quick place to eat and this fit the bill. There are plenty of choices of sandwiches, soups, and salads. The food was good and pleasantly displayed from behind the cafeteria style serving area. The staff was very nice, although at times it was difficult to understand some of what was said. The seating area, both downstairs and upstairs, is very plain or I would have given the place a 3 1/2.

Good for quick pit stops

By AJC2426 |

Breakfast excellent, sesame bagels are the best in New York in my opinion. Fresh orange juice is delicious, cakes and salads are superb. Sandwiches are tasty but if you want it fresh you need to be in there early, think they're only made once a day. Very good prices for the location. Part of a chain with Europa café times square, same food but Europa gets very crowded in a morning especially.

Delicious, healthy food, fast and easy!

By Jennifer S |

Came here for a quick lunch, what's not to like? Delectable pizza bar, salad you chose the greens and toppings, they mix it up for you, beautiful pastry cabinet filled with brownies that scream "yum!" They even have scrumptious paninis and sandwiches, cold drinks, etc. Wish they had this chain in the Midwest!

Wide variety of mediocre food

By Westtripster |

Daughter had breakfast wrap which was mostly wrap. My oatmeal was dry. Convenient to NY Helmsley Hotel. Good prices for NYC.

breakfast

By pard76 |

coffee and freshly made eggs for breakfast...quick and easy..next to the westin hotel on 42 street. plenty of options in the area, but very convenient, and not very costly...

Great little restaurant

By mtrlgrl |

Fresh, quick and cheap! What more could you want? Right next door to the Helmsley hotel - no reason to pay 20$ for breakfast at the hotel when this gem is right next door!

Great variety of food

By SporadicVacationer |

Great food, great variety at a great price. Stopped in for a slice and was pleased with the selection and quality.

A good choice and convenient to Bryant Park and Broadway

By Lewis M |

We ate here twice on a Saturday, before and after a matinee. Food was fresh and tasty. Servers were pleasant and accommodating. Check out the wraps--loaded with meat and reasonable. Only suggestion: Unlock the rest room door.

Nice breakfasts, nice lunchs or whatever what you eating

By Marc C |

Simple, fast and friendly people work there. many variety of salads that you could complement whith fruits, nuts and vegetables.

Good for a quick bite

By Gregory S |

I was staying in Time Square and found this place not too far from my restaurant and they had a good mix of foods from sandwiches and wraps to a large variety of pizza by the slice that they would throw back into the pizza oven to heat it up for you so it would be nice and hot. I thought the pizza by the slice was a good price for quite large slices of pizza, but the wraps and coffee beverages were not as much worth the price, but they were tasty none the less.

great choice

By manc59 |

breakfast/ lunch loads of choice for both. hot and cold items salad bar, sandwiches, bread and cakes all to choose from

Very good!

By christpost |

Pax is sold one of our favorite breakfast places in NYC. The one on 42nd is the biggest one with the biggest selection of different foods. Everything is freshly made. We love the bagels in the morning. Prices are decent! Always a good alternative. As well the salads are very nice!

quick, good breakfast

By Belmarmom |

Pax gets your order ready quickly, correctly and with a friendly smile. We stayed at the Westin next door and liked stopping in for a quick breakfast before hitting the city for sightseeing.

Great Bagels

By BSW1999 |

The bagels bacon and hash browns are really good! It is in a prime location, couple minute walk from theheart of time square.

Great food

By Sarah M |

We visit pax every time we travel to New York...service is good and accommodate my fussy family. Breakfast bagels are delicious!

Convenient

By Ukdesi |

Like some of the reviewers here, I stayed at the New York Helmsley on 42nd Street and Pax is right next door. The price is reasonable for Manhattan and a lot cheaper than the hotels. they have a good selection for veggies like me.

Good sandwiches and wraps

By operalover939 |

This is a no-nonsense kind of place that serves unexpectedly good food. Had we had more time I would have tried the pizza, but we had a curtain in ten minutes and so bought sandwiches, wraps and coffee. The food is very good; the prices are right.

Good choice to avoid expensive chains

By surferjoy1 |

Lots of sandwich selections and nice bakery items. However, there is only one bathroom for men and woman to share and Pepsi products are stored outside the bathroom door. Tables and floor a bit dirty but the food prep areas are clean. I would return.

Value for grub

By worldwander1 |

Healthy, wholesome, filling, easy on the pocket and tasty sandwiches. Leaves you feeling light and not that yucky, I am about to burst feeling.

Quick breakfast, friendly service

By Mike G |

Enjoyed breakfast and coffee on two days. Great place to grab a quick bite. The omelette special with home fries and toast was a good value and tasty.
