You cannot go wrong by eating at Peace. The restaurant has it all: excellent, fresh and healthy food, pleasant surroundings, and reasonable prices. To start, the menu has a wide selection of fresh juices. There are several gluten free options on the interesting menu. Our main dishes were the Peace bowl - a central mound of delicious, nutty brown rice surrounded by 3 roasted vegetables from a selection of about eight different choices. I had the Japanese pumpkin, broccoli and cauliflower, all well prepared and tasty. My companion had the same dish with different vegetables, including eggplant. Portion sizes are generous. A basil-oil sauce accompanies the dish for extra flavor. If you like some heat, ask for sriracha sauce on the side. For dessert we shared a gluten-free oatmeal raisin cookie - good but nothing extraordinary - and herbal teas. Service was a little slow but I will make allowances as it was a busy Sunday night. The bill was under $50 for two, a fair price for the excellent quality.

We wanted to eat healthy and we decided to go to this restaurant in Greenwich village. It has a good variety menu, very tasty and light. Also juices are very nice! Service is fast and nice atmosphere !

I always like restaurants that clearly states if something contains gluten, so just by doing that, I am happy. Food is very delicious and juices are too. Do not miss their fresh gingerade or the fantastic desserts. A little noisy and they could have served a couple of more higher end gluten free choices but overall excellent, went there 4 times in 5 days.

Stopped in on a weekday late afternoon at Peacefood after hearing about their banging vegan desserts & the hype is REAL! Very laid back & chill all vegan place in Union Square - they have sit down dining & a decent stocked vegan dessert case with soooo many goodies to pick from. We shared their famous mini vegan brownie bite & a slice of vanilla confetti cake. Both were DELCIOUSSSSS. The vegan confetti cake was super thick, moist & loaded with the best vegan buttercream! A very nice vanilla cake flavor. I loved that the slice was big enough for the two of us to share - with left overs! The desserts were amazing- wish we dined in for a meal but it wasn’t working with our day time wise but still made the visit for the treats- which did NOT disappoint!

Here is the story with vegan food. It either is out of this world delicious or tastes like cat food. Peacefood Cafe Too is one of the most wonderful vegan restaurants I have ever eaten at. I also like their sister place Peacefood on the Upper West Side. Peacefood Cafe is larger and you almost never have to wait. Since all of the food is made fresh you do wait for a little bit but you never feel rushed. I have had a number of dishes here and loved everything. The burger is out of this world, even for die hard carnivores. Reasonably priced and they have separate menus for lunch and dinner. Definitely worth coming to. I will definitely be back soon.

Great find...I only had dessert here but had Carrot Cake, Raspberry Spelt bar, Cookies and Banana Bread. All were very good--nice vegan teas as well. I will return again and again--highly recommended.

Although I am not a vegan I regularly eat at the Peacefood cafe and sometimes order out (their delicious daily soups). The food is invariably delicious with fresh ingredients and they can serve a "vegan" hamburger which has nothing to envy the "real one". Chickpea fries are a must!

By chance, I happened upon Peacefood Cafe on East 11th Street and was very pleased with the quality of the food, the excellent customer service and peaceful ambiance of the surroundings. I had a delicious watermelon gazpacho - seasonal and highly recommended. It a nice place for vegans or for the occasional meatless meal!

Oh my word. Ok, well I've been to Peacefood Cafe too many times, literally I went through a stage of going there every 2nd night and I've tried EVERYTHING. But first lets get the boring stuff out the way first; The aesthetic of the place is super friendly! :) They have super nice staff too, Manuka who I think is the store manager/owner I think is super cool and me and her have an awesome relationship - so overall just a great vibe really.. The place is warm and comfy - great for NY weather! Now, the food. First of all I'm just going to say that the 'Chickpea Fries' are 100% my favourite thing on the menu. It may not be your favourite, but it's definitely mine! They're super crunchy but super soft in the middle, they're not too greasy either which I like alot :) I also really love the pumpkin cashew quiche! Really good tofu base with home-made cashew cheese is to-die-for! GF Too :) Their key lime Pie is a WINNER too, soft and silky filling with a beautifully balanced sweet-tang to it. I love so many more things on the menu like their smoothies, (mango lassi is awesome) and I really like their pizzas too because they're just the right size and you can eat the whole thing without guilt + feel AWESOME after it! Their Baked Japanese Pumpkin is my 2nd fav thing! ;) Peacefood is an awesome place if you're just starting to enter the world of veganism or want to start introducing more plants into your diet. It's also a great place for fellow vegans who have been on the diet for a while too. If you are worried about stretching out a bit too far into the vegan world, you've got your 'unchicken tenders' to keep you company which are really like Chicken! Look, I'm only 16 years old and I loooove vegan food but I'm not such a good food critic. But just... go to peacefood. please. It's so awesome and I know you'll like it - quite a biased view just bc I love it but trust me it's awesome. I also have a vegan instagram account @zakbites - if you need any vegan food inspiration :) - thanks ok bye

I have gone to this location a few times since it opened, I used to go to the upper west side location, which is great as well but the union square location is so much more spacious and the interior decorating is so warm and inviting. I ordered the vegan cheese burger, three bean chili with corn bread, the fluffy quinoa salad, wonton soup, the dumplings, and un-chicken parmesan with pasta.... all were amazing.

Have been there twice and both times i have had a good experience. Calm decor, bright ambience and positively vibrant place. I have tried their chickpea fries , un-chicken parmesan, kale and spinch as side dishes. Food is fresh and the service is fast. I personally love their mini brownies!

What an amazing experience I had in Peacefood Cafe. I wanted to try it for so long.. We finally came here for lunch couple of days ago. Saw the Peace Bowl in their specials and couldn't wait to try it as I've seen it in many reviews before. You get to choose 3 veggies either sauteed or steamed and they bring them along brown rice and a separate ginger oil you can add. I had sauteed broccoli bok choy and the amazing japanese pumpkin that was my favorite part of all. I recommend to add some soy sauce to the whole thing. It was amazing. My friend had the kale salad (from the day specials too) and it was good as well. Amazing vegan desserts that are worth trying. Will be back for sure.

I’ve been ordering from them a couple times for pick up and also dinning in. In the service is really good and the food never disspoints. They have some of the best sweets I’ve had and the staff is friendly. The only negative is sometimes the delivery takes a bit, but overall I love this place. It’s a good place for all vegans, vegetarians and non vegans I’ve gone with them all. They all love it. PFC Un-chicken strips are my fav & the carrot cake.

Fabulous vegan restaurant that we visited during our honeymoon in NYC. Lovely setting and a fantastic menu. My husband who is not a vegan, was also very impressed. Delicious chocolate cake and super green smoothie also.

Excellent helpful and friendly staff Excellent menu with loads of fantastic dishes and juices Ew really loved this place

Had the most delicious meal here. Very interesting menu and lots of tasty veggie and gluten-free options. I had the chickpea fries and the pan-fried veggie dumplings, which came with the best dipping sauce. They also have wonderful desserts and I had the peanut butter cheesecake. It's not a large place but the food was great and the service was excellent. Can't wait to go back!

The best “un-chicken” and waffles I’ve ever had (vegan or not!) All of the food was amazing, but my only regret is that I didn’t save room for what looked like incredible desserts! This menu also had a nice mix of decadent and healthy, so it’s great for everyone. We went with two omnivores, who also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I highly recommend going here for brunch. Next time I’m in town, I can’t wait to return and try another meal!

great atmosphere, delicious food. service friendly and good. we came and we wil come again.. great place

I entered for cupcakes, but left with a smoothie. It was exactly what I needed from the long walk. There were no cupcakes, but I left happy. I'd like to go for lunch next time.

I ordered the other caesar salad, a cronut and a chocolate croissant - all were delicious. I can't wait to go back!!

Great place to grab a healthy and fresh bite to eat, just a couple of blocks away from the craziness of Union Square. The service is attentive, but there is no rush to eat and leave. Good spot to go solo and read a book, or meet up with friends for lunch. The tahini sprouts sandwich is one of my favorites. Also recommend the tempeh avocado sandwich. Very good selection of teas as well.

I can’t give a full review because a friend and I just stopped in for a quick bite. D core is pleasant, service decent, and the menu is varied for a vegan cafe. My friends juice smoothie was good, her soup special okay, but my pizza was pretty poor. I acknowledge that when making a vegan pizza, some compromises are necessary but the crust was more of a burnt, paper thin bread than a pizza crust, the cheese they chose didn’t melt at all, and the tomato sauce was bland with little taste. Avoid the pizza. Also no beer, wine or liquor if that is what you want.

Must-see spot on the Upper West Side on Amsterdam Avenue. Vegetarian and/or vegetarian restaurant very good! For lunch, brunch or dinner. I've been there since 2015. Highly recommended

Excellent food for entire family. Chickpea fries were the perfect appetizer. We had the infused teas and we loved them. Lentil chili, no-chicken Parmesan, and “burger” were all enjoyed. Took strawberry cheesecake and grasshopper cookies to go for later - amazing!!!

One of my go-to vegan spots. Love everything on the menu. You should definitely get the chickpea fries and leave some room for dessert.

They have an amazing menu of vegan options! They also have an amazing bakery! Loved the whoopee pie!

I love this place a lot! Awesome food, cool people, nice prices and VEGAN! Perfect! I love the fact workers are so nice and talk to you and give you lot of free water. This restaurant is my favourite. It is a casual place, but really pretty and chill. The menù has a lot of possibilities.

Fast becoming my favorite restaurant, I have yet to taste any dish that I don't like. The menu has a great selection to choose from for vegans and non-vegans alike, as well as for raw foodists. One of my favorites is the wonton soup which is a meal in itself, but when combined with two side dishes like Japanese pumpkin and sauteed kale, it's so satisfying! Since I tend to go there late at night after our weekly Meditation gatherings, it's perfectly tasty and light. The atmosphere is just the right mix of relaxed and trendy. The prices are also very reasonable and portions are generous.

We came upon this gem as we were walking around downtown. Beautiful atmosphere, many vegan dishes and desserts, great service. The place filled up and when we left there was a line waiting to be seated. I ordered the 'cheeseburger' with avocado and pickles on home-made in-house foccaccia bread and it was absolutely delicious. The gluten-free chocolate chip cookie was great, and there were many desserts to choose from.

All vegan restaurant, where the 'cure the hangover' juice and the waffle & 'unchicken' combo convinced my meatloving husband. Would love to return and try some other dishes!

I absolutely love this place. Whenever I'm in NYC, I have to go. Since tasting a stunning Carrot Cake made by Peacefood for Sri Dharma Mittra, I knew that was the only place that could satisfy that craving.. My all time favorites are: the Won-Ton soup, Raw Lasagne, the 'Chikn Parmesean" and that crazy Carrot Cake with a Chai tea. Can't wait for my next visit to try a few more things on the menu. Keep it up guys! Delish!

If you are looking for a great vegan restaurant with many comfort food options, Peacefood is the perfect spot. I stopped in for a light lunch and everything was excellent. My favorite was the ginger soy latte and they added turmeric for me. Highly recommend!

before moving to NYC, this was my FAVORITE place to visit. And it remains one of the best. I love this place for all meals. I think I've been here a dozen times. Each time I try something new. I've never been disappointed!! Great for families, for solo, any thing. Kind staff every time, and good service, too.

However, avoid sitting at the booths at the back of the place as the occasional smell from the toilets may spoil your otherwise unforgettable experience.

Peacefood is always great - low-key, laid back, unpretentious food. Their spicing, quality of ingredients, and textures are always on.

Took a vegan friend here on a trip to New York. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious! I had a sandwich and fries and she had a burger and we split raw cashew cheesecake. It was truly a delight!

My daughter and I had a delicious raw meal at Peacefood Cafe. We had the watermelon soup, lasagna, pizza, Key Lime pie and a chocolate torte. There were a few other raw choices as well. The menu is mostly non raw and looked and sounded very good too. The atmosphere was lively and casual. We made a second visit for late night dessert.

I have never been in a restaurant where the service is ALWAY bad. But my last venture to the 11th street location took the cake. I expect to be ignored and spend my time waving down a server...This time I waved down someone who might have been the hostess and you would have thought I had called her a horrible name. THAT IS NOT MY JOB she huffed as she walked of.. But the most outrageous service I saw was at the expense of the lovely gentleman sitting next to me. The waitress came over to him and said....I see you walk out of the (blank) yoga center all the time so I know you are a Yogi. That is why I am so shocked that every time you come in here you never leave a tip. I almost fell off my chair. I had left a nice tip and so wanted to take it away but the gentleman requested I dont, afraid she would blame him....Wow Wow and WOW

I recently went to Peacefood Cafe with a vegan friend. I was blown away. The pot pie was incredibly creamy with a flaky crust, the chili was hearty, and the curry was jam packed with complex flavors. I would have never been able to tell the food was vegan because the flavors and textures were so incredible. The raw key lime pie was to die for, and the strawberry shortcake was one of the best I've had. The chocolate cake was just so-so in comparison, however. All the servers were extremely attentive and friendly as well, making Peacefood Cafe a great dinning experience

The Peacefood Cafe offers a large variety of strictly Vegan food and is also Kosher and under Rabbinical supervision. The food is good with all sorts of dishes made with fake cheese or fake meat made from soy. The portions are big and the cost is reasonable. The crowd is mixed in ages but mostly the 20 to 30 year old crowd but with ample customers 50 years and older. Call ahead to reserve a table. If you don’t, the lines are long. Also, there is no air conditioning so be prepared for that. The restaurant is perfect for vegans, vegetarians and the observant kosher consumer. Only good things can be said about the Peacefood Cafe. Have fun!

The desserts are excellent, the place pleasant even if the decor seems to date from a few years ago, on the other hand the dishes are not very good: the pizza for the children is really not good, for me a pumpkin quiche is a little dry too. So go there instead for a drink or a dessert

We've been here numerous times and always a pleasure ! Chick pea fries are delicious and I like the peace bowl. A bit noisy though...

Absolutely loved this place! We shared the pumpkin cashew quiche (that came with a fruit salad), the wonton soup, vegan burger and fries. All delicious and healthy. It was highly difficult to choose a dessert from the interesting offering, they all looked very tasty. Finally, we had picked out two: The strawberry cheesecake (made with tofu cream-cheese) and a raw cacao mousse pie with avocado, heavenly!). The teas and coffee were also very tasty, I definitely recommend it to everyone (no need to be vegan to enjoy this amazing food!)

I had a late lunch here last week and it was overall amazing!!! Not crowded here at all. I had the best chai latte of my life in an enormous mug. I had the Japanese pumpkin sandwich with seitan added. It was also enormous and so SO tasty!! Plus the side of jicama “fries” were fresh and healthy. A great side. I got for takeaway: the mini brownie (ok, nothing great), the frosted cinnamon roll (my husband LOVES it) and the savoury apple and onion scone. VERY tasty and chunky. A verrrryy expensive lunch but so worth it! Will definitely return.

This place delightful to have a great meal of wholesome food to any tired and hungry traveller . I was in the neighbourhood and decided to look into and found it to be amazing . The popular grilled kababs and non fried items were satisfying and wholesome at lunch time . The great location and the good food are the reason to come here .

What a wonderful vegan restaurant. We actually visited this place twice as the first time was so good. I loved the mushroom pasta and the lasagne was excellent. Definitely worth a visit even if you're not vegan

We shared the chick pea fries which were shockingly good. Had the raw pizza which was more like a cracker crust it was different but not my thing. The beet salad was good. the key lime pie was just ok. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. We came to celebrate my friends birthday which is actually today. They gave us a candle for her dessert but shockingly didn't take it off the bill. That is the first time I had to pay for a birthday dessert.

I came here with a group of friends for the first time and had a great experience. I highly recommend the Vegan Buger...it's incredible!!! The chickpea fries and dumplings are also very very good. The dessert is a must, we all ordered different desserts, my favorite was the raw key lime pie. Highly recommend it would definitely go back.

Unlike so many of the organic/vegan restaurants in town (Blossom, Candle Cafe, et al), this one is very reasonably priced. The selections are wide in range and the food is fresh and delicious. I had a cashew quiche, and for dessert, my friend and I shared a coconut chocolate chip cookie. A wonderfully filling meal . . . This restaurant is a great find. Hope the one uptown in my own neighborhood (on Amsterdam, at 82nd Street) is as good!

Though we were only in NYC for one week, we somehow drifted into the Peacefood cafe three times. First, there was the raw chocolate torte and the raw Strawberry Cheesecake. (Please note: we are living life correctly and eating our desserts first.) Second there was the tamale and the tofu scramble. Third, there was the friendly wait staff. And fourth, the light and airy atmosphere. The only thing that prevented us from eating there again--we ran out of time and had to return to the Midwest!

I was a little disappointed on this, my second visit to Peacefood Cafe. The food was not as good and the service seemed slow and unenthusiastic. We were initially seated at a very chilly location owing to the air duct vent just above us and asked to be re-seated, which was promptly accomplished. My main dishes were the pan-seared shanghai-style dumplings and two vegetable sides, the sauteed kale and the roasted Japanese pumpkin. The star of the evening was the pumpkin which was delicious, but a very small portion. The kale was cold and under-cooked, as well as being completely tasteless. The dumplings were heavy-weights with a very thick, glutinous dough surrounding a very tasty filling. However, the ratio of filling to dough was wrong with way too little filling and too much surrounding dough. We had to flag down our server to get the bill. Prices are reasonable. I hope this restaurant will return to its former high standards.

My girlfriend and I went to Peacefood Café this past weekend for lunch. She being the vegan food expert picked where we were to eat. Upon entering the café we had to wait about 5-10 minutes before someone asked us if we were waiting to be seated. Luckily, a table for two was about to open up so the wait was minimal. We ordered the Chickpea Fries as soon as we sat down and they did not disappoint, the dipping sauce works very well with them. The Chickpea Fries aren't even fried, they are baked, which makes them even better, no over grease residue on your fingers I had the Fried Seitan medallion Panini and she had the Pan-Seared French Horn Mushroom Panini. I do have to say that my Panini was excellent, and the cashews, tomatoes, and pesto work well together. I am quickly becoming a believer in Seitan, not that I would ever go full vegan, just as a healthy, non-meat alternative. My bite of the Pan Seared Mushroom Panini was also excellent although the mint & basil pesto could have been left off, I felt it was a bit overpowering and just not to my liking. The décor was nice, the bathrooms were very clean and the bar although small seemed to offer a full range of beverages. Our servers did disappear a bit after we had placed our order so there did not seem to be a sense of urgency in the service, which was noticeable after it took us 10 minutes to track down our server for dessert orders, I decided against it as to not make my servers life more difficult and just asked for the check. Hopefully I will get a chance to come back and sample the rest of the menu.

Good food and good service. Staff was professional and food was well made and presented. . Save room for deserts. Will be back there. There are many varieties and it is not loud.

I googled vegan spots and this one came up. I took the train and walked about a mile to get to this place, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a charming eatery and the options are deliberate and varied; I had a tough time deciding, but I chose the seitan panini. Delectable. As was the potato salad and the acai smoothie. I enjoyed everything. If only there was one in Charlotte! When I return next year for the U.S. Open, I'll definitely be back.

O.K. so I was narrow minded the first time I met a friend here because I expected everything to be somewhat "industrial" in taste and texture. I was wrong. We have now had lunch here at least a dozen times and whatever we order is really good. Their sandwiches are tasty; their dumplings are delicious; their pizza is really super with a nice thin crust; and the list goes on. Once I treated myself to a cookie on the way out and that too was delicious. Welcome to the neighborhood. We're happy to have you.

Since moving to New York, I've been exposed to the most vegan food of my life. I was walking through the neighborhood and discovered Peacefood. I've now been two times. First time I enjoyed the quinoa salad and dumplings (so good!!), second time I went for the tempeh and avocado sandwich with watercress and mushroom soup (sandwich was ok, soup was delish). The restaurant is bright and inviting with friendly staff. Looking forward to trying their enticing looking desserts next. And an added bonus, I met Deepak Chopra who happened to be dining there as well on my first visit!

Great menu, large selection of entrees and specials, attentive staff and excellent ambiance. Had the dumpling appetizer and it was delicious. Decided on a special Chicken cutlet, potatoes, cauliflower and gravy and was amazed by the flavor. My daughter had the pot pie which was so, so very good. The whole family was extremely impressed by this vegan comfort food. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious food and great service. We found this by chance and am so Glad we did. Superb value for money in an expensive city.

We went there for a birthday brunch because a couple of us are vegan and we wanted to try this out. I'm not a vegan, so I was skeptical at first. I tried three different dishes: the nuggets, avocado sandwich and tiramisu. While I enjoyed the different texture and great taste of the nuggets and the huge portion of a filling tiramisu, I had a hard time with the sandwich. Even though there were different ingredients on it, the taste remained the same. The carrots ruined the taste for me, hidding the taste of the avocados. I did enjoy the bread, which had a firm bite. While the food was okay, the staff and restaurant was nice and clean. Very polite, not pushy at all. Giving tips when asked and giving answers to think about. I do recommend going there if you are a vegan! But for those who are not, you will likely not enjoy everything on the menu.

How wonderful to find a kosher vegan restaurant where thought and care has gone into every dish we ordered. Loved it from beginning to end. Don't leave without having the ginger latte.

Loved the chickpea fries...wonderful flavor...must figure out how to make these at home. Ordered off their brunch menu and had the sweet potato quiche it was paired with a greens salad with fruit. A lot of food and very good. The top layer of the quiche was a little hard to cut without making a mess of the whole piece. I also like a little spice and some hot sauce would’ve been good (they had siracha...not my favorite). Other dishes were the waffles and unchicken and the tofu chorizo scramble also delish! Service was good and while we walked in and were the only ones there by the time we left every seat was filled. Only bummed the food was so good and filling, there was no room for dessert, which looked incredible. Next visit we will be back.

Love the raw key lemon pie, the wonton soup, the pumpkin soup, the Brazil nut chai latte, everything really. The staff is super nice too.

We went for dessert and had the carrot cake and cheese cake. Delicious enough to turn any carnivore into a vegan. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Gets busy.

Stopped in for lunch and I had the Peacebowl. It was delicious, could have used a bit more salt, and I didn't ask for any, but it was delicious nonetheless. Hubby had the "chicken"salad plate which was beautiful when presented and it was very tasty. My niece had the Avocado Tempeh sandwich which she says was really good. Oh, the Vanilla Cake was AMAZING! Two of us eat plant based foods all the time and we would all eat here again.

We went for Thanksgiving lunch and it was lovely. Their Orange Apple cider and mint hot chocolate were both lovely. We had a 15-20 min wait but were happy to get a table on thanksgiving day as a walk-in. Staff were friendly and good attentive service, they were all rushed off their feet. A little bit busy and chaotic due to it being overly busy with a ‘vegan meet up’ group and there wasn’t enough tables to seat everyone who kept showing up, so it was a little hard to relax and noise levels were high, but a good overall atmosphere all the same. The thanksgiving ‘unturkey lunch’ was lovely as was their pecan pie. We also took cookies home for later. It was around £100 / $130 for two of us (2x main course, 1 dessert, 2 drinks and 2 cookies (to go).

The smoothies are delicious, chickpea fries addictive, and the raw vegan lasagna amazing. It'd reminded of leftover home made lasagna eaten cold.

I am glad to report that our evening at Peacefood Cafe was very successful! BFF had the unchicken with vegetables and penne pastaI I had the cheeseburger, we ended up sharing each of these entrees and both were very tasty, we brought dessert home as we were too full to eat at the restaurant. Service was excellent and friendly, pleased to mention our water glasses were refilled promptly. We will definitely be returning to sample more of the menu.

Everything I`ve tried in Peacefood was delicious, but I have to highlight that I have never had better deserts in my life. And you don`t even feel guilty knowing that it`s all healthy stuff :)

The fried oyster mushrooms were so delicious! This was a decadent and filling dish, that my meat loving husband said he would go back for again. The other three dishes we had: roasted seasonal squash over mushroom gravy with mashed potatoes, crab cakes with salad and the unchecked were delicious as well. And we were pleasantly surprised at the refreshing homemade ginger ale. The staff was friendly to locals and newbies alike. And they were very attentive. The facility was bright and led to ease, and we stayed for a couple of hours. We will definitely go back.

As a vegan, I'm so used to making do with compromised solutions or limitations to food choices when I'm eating out. We were delighted when we visited here when we visited New York from the UK. The food is amazing! The service is friendly and very helpful. The staff know how to offer good service and they keep your water glass topped up constantly, regardless of what you're drinking or eating. It's a rare thing to have a restaurant where staff will allow you to get on with eating you're food without interruption and this delivers on great service with amazing food

Lunch is served. Have no idea how they made the vegetables so flavorful and cooked to perfection, but they scored big!!! Add sundried tomato pesto on top and basil pesto on the bottom and 🤯. The creamy mushroom soup was velvety and delicious. Peacefood has been a favorite of mine for a long time and continues to be. #nyc #unionsquare #vegan #veganfood #veganfoodie #plantbased #flavorbomb #flavortown

Good variety of food and everything is delicious. Salads, Sandwiches, Pizzas, Hot dinners, soups, raw food and juices, desserts and cakes. We love Peacefood Cafe!

Very delicious vegan food w a bunch of raw options!! They have 3 live desserts and 3 live entrees, as well as salads! I recommend the key lime pie, the cacao mousse pie, and the raw pizza (pesto!) however I am not certain if they are organic. They seem to be..

I walked by this street many times but I missed it because it is on a ramp on a side street. Now that I found it, I will visit it often. We, a party of two, went there on Sunday around 1 pm. We were told that it is about 20 mins wait but got seated in about 15 min. The restaurant is rather large and nicely appointed. Did not look like earlier vegetarian restaurants in NYC. I ordered cappuccino with soy milk and a side order of tempura. The plate was filling but the soy too salty for me. My wife ordered a kale salad and told me that it was excellent. At the end, I ordered key lime pie and was pleasantly surprised. This pie puts all the other pies I tasted in different places before. It is a good find in Union Square Area. The service is also very nice.

My niece is lactose intolerant and I am a vegetarian so a vegan restaurant is a great choice for us. It is just about the only place where we don't have to constantly ask about the ingredients. We took a chance on Peacefood Cafe and it was great! I had a Vegan Pot Pie and it was delicious - flaky crust and a delicious filling. It came with a kale salad which was very tasty as well. My niece had the un chicken parmesan which we both tried. We would highly recommend it. They have a great selection of both hot and cold beverages. Their dessert case is a treasure trove for a person who is lactose intolerant and rarely has such a vast selection to choose from. We shared the strawberry cheese cake and it was so good we took a piece home. There are a large number of tables and the seating is comfortable. There is an especially cozy set of tables in the back next to a lamp and a small table - very homey. I would highly recommend this place whether you're vegan or not. It's well worth the trip.

I was excited to try this place out. We went for breakfast our first day here, where we got a hot chocolate, a Brazil nut chai tea, and an order of scrambled tofu and homefries to share. The drinks were good, though the tea was pretty cinnamon-y. Huge mugs! The food, however, left something to be desired. The "homefries" consisted of a few chunks of potato, the tofu was literally just scrambled up tofu with no added veggies or seasoning that I could see, and the whole plate was covered with a spring mix. If the plate was bigger, we could have stirred it all together. The tofu itself left behind a greenish oil on the plate, which was kinda odd. Overall, I've made way, way better scrambles myself, and spent way less money. I wanted to add salt and pepper to the dish, but there was none on the table. Another thing we thought was kinda weird was when he brought us two waters, with one glass full to the top and the other barely half-full. Okay... While breakfast was underwhelming, we went back that night to get dessert to-go. Vegan tiramisu sounded too good to pass up. We got a piece of the tiramisu, a piece of peanut butter cheesecake, and a grasshopper cookie sandwich. It was all delicious, a complete comeback from breakfast. The mint filling in the cookie sandwich was refreshing and not too sweet, the cheesecake had a lovely consistency and rich nutty flavor, and the tiramisu was moist and tasty. The espresso flavor could have been stronger, but it was still very good. My omnivorous fiancée wanted to go back for seconds! The presentation for the desserts is also lovely; they are a sight for hungry eyes in the display case. Overall, the place has a cool look to it, with a varied menu. I wish we'd tried lunch or dinner, but didn't get the chance. I probably wouldn't go back for breakfast though. The place was basically empty for breakfast but packed for dinner. Maybe that should have been a clue? Service was okay. Employees seemed friendlier toward "regulars" and people they knew, and weren't terribly enthusiastic. I'll go back next time I'm in the area. Try them out if you're vegan or just like healthier food.

I was in the city for four days at the Hyatt Union Square. PC was a stones throw away. I ate there every day because of convenience and the excellent food options. Tried a couple of other places that did not live up to my expectations. The waitstaff are adorable and the service excellent. A special thanks to Hailey!

If you want great vegan food in NY, it's readily available at places like By Chloe and Cinnamon Snail, so I'm honestly not sure how this place stays in business with such bland tasteless food. I ate at the UWS location and had a tempeh sandwich that tasted like cardboard, and their Thanksgiving meal at this 11th street location was just - wow. How do you manage to make bland stuffing? Do you just mix old bread with water and call it a day? Even the cranberry sauce was bland. I could make better at home. Perhaps they've never heard of salt or other seasonings. Last I checked seasonings that go into stuffing like salt, pepper, thyme and sage are vegan - not to mention celery. And for this taste-free fare (dried out vegan 'cutlet', stuffing, cranberry sauce and purple potatoes that - well you might as well eat purple paper I'll leave it at that) I paid over $40. Avoid. And vegans who want to impress your meat eating friends by showing them that vegan food can be tasty - definitely don't bring them here. They will wonder how you survive without being in a constant state of depression.

Try the cheeseburger, it goes beyond imagination how good it is! Also good: the mini brownie. All the taste and only half the guilt. ;) It does have a heated waiting area. Also very friendly staff.

I've been to the one uptown, equally amazing. This one has more posh chic decor but the point is the food is beyond amazing. Will keep coming back. Make sure you have the key lime pie.

I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this food was. I didn't expect such sophisticated flavors, but as a lifetime vegetarian, I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurant meals I've had in a long time. I will definitely be back and highly recommend it. I had the fluffy quinoa salad and my boyfriend had the vegetable tamale. Both were so, so good. I also had an oatmeal raisin cookie to go and it was close to the best I've ever had. If I had to give it one negative, it's that there is nothing to nibble on while you're waiting for your food, which takes a while because it's all freshly made. But that's a very small thing. Go enjoy a delicious healthy meal at Peacefood Cafe Too.

Peacefood has always been a great place for a quick meal solo or with friends/couples. This atmosphere is more modern, cozy, and roomier than their upper west side location. Their menu is the same at both locations, but the home made desserts and weekend specials varies from time to time. Some of my favorites are: PFC, Vegan Cheeseburger, and chickenless chicken salad. Dessert: raw key lime pie, grasshopper (two dark chocolate cookies sandwich between a mint flavored cream - non dairy and vegan friendly). This location is Kosher for certified for anyone is looking for a Vegan / Kosher establishment. But with the vast taste of different foods and spices...it’s hard to tell that’s its Kosher compliant. Great place to eat. My visit was a Saturday afternoon slightly before 4pm and it was at 85% capacity. I was fortunate to see some “A” listers dining there also, but I wouldn’t want to be bothered for autographs if I was eating. Happy dining. You can go wrong with this place. Oh yeah...no breaks between lunch and dinner hours like most Vegan places are. The day I visited the hours were 10am to 10pm. Double check before you go. One last thing...Happy Cow approved.

Light and airy designed restaurant with a chill cabinet full of gluten free, vegan, raw desserts. They also do a lovely mix of soups, salads and mains to cater for all your healthy needs. Good tasty food

Peace food cafe has a very contemporary feel to it. The restaurant is vegan. We really enjoyed the Caesars salad and the potato salad here. Everything is always fresh and service was attentive. Definitely a must for vegans visiting NYC

I've frequented this restaurant a few times since it right around the corner from my work. Every time I come, I'm not disappointed. I usually get the pumpkin quiche, chili, and quinoa fluffy salad. All are delicious! And the desserts are so yummy, too. They have a great assortment of entrees. I can't wait to try more dishes on my next return, especially the chickpea fries and and strawberry shortcake.

Staff is very nice and helpful Relaxed atmosphere You can eat at their restaurant or take away very easily I had Tempeh Avocado Sandwich, Strawberry Cheesecake and Cookies and all were very good for cheap price.

Two weeks ago, Andrea and I met at Peacefood Café located on 11th Street off University Place. This is a smart casual café specializing in vegan cuisine. The large room is spacious with tables thankfully not too close to each other so conversations can be private. A display case with large diner style layer cakes greets customers as they enter. We shared a “cheese” platter served on a platter with sliced cucumbers on one end and slim crackers and red, green and black grapes on the other end. Naturally this was not cheese made with diary but with ground cashew nuts. Andrea had a hot green tea. I had a mango lassi sweetened with agave which was delicious. As we ate, the server gave us extra crackers. By the time we left, the restaurant was filled with lots of diners and the noise level was louder. Two restrooms are located at the back with a beautiful painting separating them above a cabinet.

Lovely swanky place, good service, good choices on menu and very tasty food. Price also reasonable for what we got.

First let me state that I'm not a vegan. I have had, however, my share of vegan burgers in the past, none of which can hold a candle to the vegan burger I just had at this restaurant. The flavors in this meal were exceptional. I highly recommend it.

Food is amazing. Chickpea fries divine however the service is so bad I do not think I will come back. Plenty of other vegan restaurants in NYC, plenty with actually healthy desserts.

The smoothie was ok. The soup wasn’t that great. The salad was very good. We went in hungry and left quite satisfied. The coffee was good.

Peacefood Café is a vegan's paradise! The food here is exceptional, most of it you can't tell is vegan, it's that good. We got a roasted seasonal vegetable pizza, chickpea fries, French toast granola, key lie pie, and macaroons (plain and chocolate), and everything was amazing! I've never had vegan key lie pie and French toast and was craving them for a long time and they were delicious! The chickpea fries were good too, and sort of reminded me of falafel balls. The staff is really friendly and nice, which I've noticed at all vegan joints. It is a mid-range place. They have toilets. There is no parking. The closest subway is 14th Street–Union Square on lines 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W.

Not only is the food good, but it is a very peaceful place. the hostess, very pleasant and kind, explained that it is because there is no animal killing and everyone is happy there. We enjoyed the food, which was well-prepared and tasty. We tried a couple of their varied desserts, chocolate mousse pie, very thick and good and a magic cookie (magical!) Very relaxing place for a meal with good art on the walls and friendly staff.

Excellent service and an inviting environment are made only more stunning by the delivery of completely awesome veg-friendy dishes. The chick'n waffles might just blow your mind (like it did my partner's). I wolfed down one of their veg omelettes. Wow. I really can't wait to go back.

Small menu but sufficient if you rarely go. Friendly staff except one server was observed using restroom then not washing afterwards. A guest of mine refused to eat the food when that particular staff delivered their order moments later. Ruined their experience.

I've been here twice, and everything that I've tried has been absolutely delicious. The raw key lime pie was a perfect ending to a great meal. The atmosphere is relaxed & the wait staff are quick to attend to your needs, questions etc.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian but went with fiends who are. I loved everything we ordered and the “chicken” and waffles were divine! The place is busy but has great service and they don’t rush you like many NY places. Please do yourself a favor and share and try lots of things.

This restaurant provided a wide range of healthy and delicious vegan foods. The highlight for me was the first won-ton soup I've had the pleasure of eating since going vegetarian 14 years ago. Everything was fresh and wholesome, and service was pleasant and quick. It seemed like a good value for New York, but it was a little more expensive than what you'd find in a smaller city. If you're vegan you'll be happy here. I believe they also had some gluten-free options.

So far the only dish I have liked is the Key Lime Pie and that only 1 out of 3 times. The first one was amazing. Smooth, not too tart, not too sweet. The second time the filling was gritty, so not enjoyable. The third try was less gritty, but some of the nuts were rancid. The avocado tempeh sandwich is horrendous. The garbanzo fries are good, but cut too thick to be enjoyable. Friends agreed that the food is unreliable, but some dishes are great, while others are awful. Perhaps I will give the burger a try, as that is supposed to be good. An aside: Food to-go can take a long time to access. It took 1 woman 10 minutes to buy three cookies, meanwhile one of the counter agents was having a cough attack while helping someone else, which was rather unappetizing.

We popped in here for lunch and immediately loved the place. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The food was delicious - large portions and well priced! I was too full for desert so stopped back later in the day for takeaway peanut butter cheesecake which was Devine! Can't wait to go back for dinner!

My friends who are kosher, picked the Peacefood Cafe since they could eat everything on the menu. Having never been there before I was s little adventurous and tried their "crab cakes", which were made without the crabs and while I knew that, I still anticipated that there might be some taste resembling the flavor associated with its name. My friends seemed happier with their choices: steamed dumplings with chives, a side order of Brussel sprouts, a salad and a sandwich! I tried the dumplings and they were surprisingly delicious. Next time, I'll know better.

We had about a 30 minute walk to go here for lunch but it was well worth it. My personal favourite was the Calamari which is something I miss since going vegeterian but I have to say they were excellent. I also had the roast potato pizza which was also amazing. A great plac for vegans, vegeterian and even meat easters would be happy here.

We walked in not knowing what we were getting into. We did not realize it was a vegan restaurant so struggled to find food we wanted. At the same time, if this is what we had been looking for, we would have loved it. The soups were very good but the vegan cheeseburger was cold and tasteless. Breads were excellent as were the chickpea fries and potato salad. Prices were very reasonable.

A vegan kitchen and bakery, reasonably priced, prides itself on respecting the earth and animals with pure foods. I had a bowl of Red Bean Chili served with corn muffin You really need to be hungry to finish the bowl,of chili. My friend had the same but she, too, like me, could not finish the chili...but a hungry man might find it quite satisfying. A very diversified menu, even vegetable tempura. You do not have to be Vegan to enjoy the food here. However, sit in the back, At lunch time the cacophony of diners makes it difficult to hold a conversation. Best time to arrive for lunch is l:30 pm., when some of crowd has cleared out.

The “chicken” and waffles were great. I order a yummy sandwich. I really enjoyed the key lime pie as well. The staff was super friendly.

My boyfriend and I were totally blown away by the quality of the dinner. The food, smoothies, and desserts were wonderful. It was the best vegan spot I've been to around Greenwich Village. Also our server Sandy was a sweetheart, so accommodating. I would recommend to any of my friends (vegan or not!) :-)

WOW. Every positive review for this place is on point. The chickpea fries really are great, the pot pie excellent and the oyster mushrooms delightful. My friend ordered one of the juices and that was amazing also. The staff was very nice also. The atmosphere isn’t exactly like a café; it has a little upscale vibe to it and I love that. This is pretty much my go-to spot after classes now.

Super satisfying lunch with abundant and tasty courses. Prices more than adequate for NYC, friendly and fast staff, there are countless wonderful cakes and cakes and all vegan. We tasted the burger with chips (it is not made with bun bread but with a delicious leavened focaccia) and a sandwich with pumpkin, caramelized onion, cashew cream, salad and tempeh that I added as a protein quota (+2$). Then a discreet espresso is a great double chocolate cookie. After days of American cuisine it was paradise.
Good food but
We enjoyed the food - and the chickpea fries were not overrated It was all bit too precious for us and we didn't like it when we were reminded to leave a tip as we left a good place for yummy mummies
