Wanted to love it… didn’t.

By Salliestone123 |

Beautiful space, warm and inviting. Food is okay but I got zero service. I was basically ignored and there were plenty of staff. They were chatting amongst themselves most of the time. I wasn’t offered water and sat there with empty glass all night. Had to ask to order. Crazy considering the speech I got on arrival that I had to be out in 2 hours… hard to do that when no one serves you. Shame because the atmosphere is lovely but service and just ok food doesn’t cut it.

Interesting ambiance, nice food

By Traveldog813 |

I really enjoyed my meal here. Food was very nice, ambiance was unique, funky, warm, pretty, and crowd wasn’t boring. Would definitely go back.

Best Hookah in NYC

By Ryan P |

If you want a combination of classy, open, modern, great food and hookah...this is the place to be. I love the vibe of this place. Sexy people, good food and good hookah. Get the double apple mint or the blue mist and then pick anything from the food menu.

Best Shisha in town!

By rahuljaju96 |

Pergola is probably the go-to place for shisha lovers in NYC. It has a great ambience and wide variety of shisha flavours that you can also top with fruit bases like pineapple and apple base. Price range would be a little on the higher side, but the overall experience will not put you down. The only drawback is the location, sometimes difficult to find. Otherwise, every visit to Pergola is worth it. If you're in NYC, do not miss Pergola for shisha. About 8-10 minutes walk from Macy's 34th St.

Horrible customer service and communication

By Rafael M |

We have made several attempts by calling the staff at Pergola (5 times to be exact) for a surprise 30th birthday and setup a reservation for about 18-20 people. As we would all be coming from Connecticut I expected some kind of customer service. I have been there several times, and I mentioned this to the other guests on our plans, but then we got nothing but horrible customer service. 2 of us have left a combined 5 voicemails without any returned calls. This has really put a bad taste in my mouth on how you don’t care about your customers. Unfortunately it looks like I’ll never be visiting here again. 👎👋

Nice food-interesting environment

By beerbrewer2015 |

Went there because of a good Open table standing and proximity to our hotel. Impressive food, although some of the service was a bit obnoxious and the amount of waterpipes were a bit over the top. I think it would do Pergola good to tell on the internet or some other place that the whole site is about waterpipes.

Good hookah place

By architamodi1 |

Very good place with amazing ambience. Very good hoohak (though service was very slow for hookah, good drinks and good food as well (less options for vegetarians but good). Make sure you make a reservation before going

Overpriced and rude!

By cruiserguy2324 |

The website was done beautifully and I had great first impression. First visit. When reached the location and it looked great from outside. The decor was very cozy and the layout was very well done. As we went in with a group of four friends, the staff attending our table suggested everyone must buy at least two drinks otherwise we would have to leave. From there everything went downhill. This was absolutely shocking to me. We were indirectly forced to buy 8 very poor quality cocktails, very mild at best. Hookah menu is just fine, nothing very fancy or special. Note: They do take reservations but whether they will honor it or not depends on the crowd, time and who you are. If you know the door staff you will be better off, if not they will simply deny the reservation. Second Visit. This time I did not have have high expectations. But then came the biggest shock that I could think. The door staff suggested my jacket was not classy enough and since my name was not on their guest list I could not enter. There are other great Hookah places in Manhattan with better menus and price values. But this one is highly not recommended.

Birthday Celebration

By Nadia B |

if you like to be around snooty staff then this is the place to be. The bouncer didn’t even look at my ID and told me I can’t wear flats and come in when I had a dinner reservation booked months in advance. I been there before with no such dress code. We booked reservations for $80 per person for 4 people but, the table only had 3 seats. We asked for another chair and they gave us attitude about it. They would take one person drink order and not the whole table. They didn’t even give us 4 menus. We had empty water glasses and had to ask for some water. The service was absolutely terrible. Not worth the money spent.

Gay Pride Day fun

By Salchat |

Had a ball here. Drank shots with new friends, tried the coconut Hookah and ate meatballs and chicken wings. Very enjoyable couple of hours.

Intimate atmosphere and excellent food

By Rossana K |

This restaurant was very close to our hotel. We decided to have a late lunch and found a chance to enjoy a beautiful atmosphere along with an interesting variety of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern including yummy bread. Their lentil soup is amazing and the burgers leave you a happy customer. The service is friendly and the prices quite reasonable. Ideal for solo meals, a romantic date, business chat or just to enjoy a different side of busy NYC. Not recommended for families with small kids. Excellent option for drinks and bites.

Good vibes

By Jackman |

Good vibes, menu needs improvement and waiters need to be a little sharp responding to guests requests, lighting is too low to my liking but overall a good night out.

Cute place in the heart of New York

By PKS519 |

This is a hookah place full on Indians/Pakistanis/Iranians.Slow but courteous service.Good salads.Hummus.Can spend time chilling there.

Friends

By Delilah N |

Jennifer makes amazing drinks. Kate was our waitress and she is so nice!!!! Always smiling. The manager Azizu was so accomodating.

Great also for drinks and music

By Peter R |

We had recently our evening out in Manhattan and my friend recommended “Pergola“ which I did not know! And to be honest I had not been anymore in for food, but I spontaneously liked the atmosphere, the crowd and the music. We decided to stay and had a great night. As standing around the bar was tight we met new people and had a few very good cocktails. The music is smashing. So a great night out in New York! Only: the shisha fumes a bit irritated my lungs.

Bad disaster experience

By Yehezkel E |

It was horrible, we had the worst time of our lives, even though we wanted to relax, if one day you want to get past your worst times, go for it!!! Very disappointing on their part, very slow and poor quality service, very bad experience.

Good food, mediocre service

By BeeGee_67 |

We had dinner at Pergola. We liked the setting and the food. However both waitresses was really uninterested in us. They delivered at most a minimum of service. We noticed that all customers really had to work for their attention. We had in mind to give minimum tip to show our opinion, but to our surprise a 2o% to was included on the bill. Actually maybe not a surprise, it may explain the minimal interest to serve customers. We would rate the food 4 and service 2. Thus the average 3 as rating.

Good food and great service

By Lazonia |

We stumbled upon this restaurant which was near our hotel, and we're glad we did. We were in the city for a wedding and would have gone back to Pergola if we had not had other commitments. One of us had salmon which was so good and the other had prawns which were excellent. We had hummus for an appetizer and it was very good. We're picky about middle eastern food as we have good friends who are Lebanese, and live in a Greek neighborhood halfway between an orthodox Synagogue and the Greek cathedral. The food at Pergola gave us a little taste of home.

Delicious variety

By Fontamama |

Ambience is inviting, food was delicious and great variety, wait staff was attentive and professional and prices were appropriate. Will def revisit!

Nice shisha lounge

By Turki A |

The food looks good but I didn't try it but the service and the shisha is very nice. not bad ambiance and decorations. Sure if I had a chance i will come back.

Love

By Achint |

This is the best hookah place around town. Sometimes snooty but the food, drinks and sheesha is very good.

Gr8 4 Groups Chelsea Hip Eclectic Hot spot

By Patrick T |

This hookah eclectic Chelsea hot spot is best with a group of friends and or co workers. Small plates, entrees, pizzas and salads. It is also open very late, serving Mediterranean dishes. The service is excellent. The international lounge pop mix is a bit loud but keeps the energy up. The drinks were delicious. Order the hummus with meat if you are not with a vegetarian. lol We split the Pergola sliders (2) and the chicken shawarma tacos (2)both melted in our mouths. The sliders had a slight lick to them.

Great place

By Mirna E |

This place is great! They have very good cocktails and a light food menu. The decoration is very nice and cozy.

Great service

By Tehaul S |

Awesome local spot. Great drinks and bartenders are the best. Happy hour appetizers are bomb. Hookah is one of the best.

Racist and horrible doorman

By Charlene C |

The doorman was super rude and racist. It was one of the worst experiences I've had in NYC considering I've lived here for 5 years now. He was very pretentious and just down right rude.

Food tasty for a Hookah Bar

By Chris M |

The upside is the food is pretty tasty, but unless you are going for Hookah, it is just too noisy and Smokey for a casual dinner. If you are looking for a Hookah bar with full dinner options, then this is for you. The lamb chops were exceptional and Swarma was a good portion.

Never again

By Paola B |

We went to this place last night to celebrate my friend bday came from Londonand the first impression was so bad they treat us like a Sh!t was the first time been there we made the reservation 2 weeks in advance They gave us the worst table and a guy with glasses I don’t know if he was the manager but he so rude with us he came to us to many times saying things that we can’t do, but with the other ppl he was dancing and give a good service… if you aren’t regular customer or famous ppl please don’t go to that place We spent a one thousand in 2 hours and don’t worth and the worst think they took the id and the credit card of my friend and the never give it back … he have to come back the next day to pick up his id and the credit card and we didn’t know if the take the info of the card or want NEVER AGAIN… racist and discrimination

😷

By Aziz |

Very noisy lounge and not good for those who want to have hookah.. The security guy was rude and kept me waiting outside for 5 minutes since I was wearing sweatpants before he allowed me to get in that place!

Terrible experience

By Pamela Matias |

Came here on a Saturday night at 11pm with no reservation and “Alex” the security guard. Bald headed with glasses on was upset that my partner took the parking spot that he put cones in. It’s NYC. It’s a public space. Anyone can park there. And didn’t permit us to go in because it’s “reservations only”. It’s not my first time going here. I’ve been to pergola for happy hour, work outings and late night weekends. This has never been the case. Completely ruined my night simply because he wanted the parking space that didn’t even belong to him.

Credit Card Fraud

By Mo_K83 |

I visited this place during my four day stay in NYC just before Xmas. I went with two local friends who left shortly after we went in due to their planned commitments. I stayed with my friend for a shisha and two drinks. The waiter who served us was very arrogant and had a very bad attitude towards us. Not sure why?! When the bill came I obviously paid with my card and chose not to leave a tip because the attitude of the waitress. I remember it so well, because My friend and I are T-Total. We don’t drink. You will be able to see from the receipt the mojitos ordered were also virgin. However, two days later after checking the statement, I saw the amount charged on my card is more by $10 dollars on the top of the actual bill. Even though I crossed the tips part on the bill and put the total amount, I was still subject to fraud by this place and they charged me an extra $10 for a tip. I never authorised that. I am not sure if this from the waiter who served us or the restaurant themselves. You will be able to see from the photo the actual receipt I received from the restaurant after paying and the actual payment that went out of my card. Please be aware of the fraud in this place. Specially if you drink and you may not notice it. They will add whatever tip they want on the bill, which in my view is Fraud. This is now being investigated by Amex and I will also report it to the authorities in the US. I have the proof for it and it’s on here for everyone to see it. Stay away from this place.

Pergola Night

By Jan R |

Good vibes , music is good, food is alright but the waiters just stand there you have to constantly be calling them to order something. Hookah was good. lights are dimmed nice. overall cool place to visit.

Cool hookah spot

By Jaime S |

The space and the decor are very cool. Seems like a trendy spot. Went for a hookah and some drinks and had a very good time. Friendly staff.

No Value

By JFK |

After booking a table for a Party of 4 we had to vacate after 1.5hours because they double booked. $375 bill and I couldn’t even finish my Hookah. They wouldn’t even move our hookah to the bar. We had to buy another one and start a new bill at the bar. Disgraceful service. Waiters and management are arrogant and rude. Would never visit again or recommend.

Great Drinks - Great Vibe

By Marcia P |

We unfortunately didn't get to eat or try the hookah due to the long wait for a table on a Saturday night. We ended up having a few drinks at the bar - the Moscow Mules were on point! Bartender even offered us a free round of shots for the wait. The atmosphere and vibe was great - nice decor with a chill yet upbeat bar scene. I will definitely visit again to get the full effect.

Awesome environment!

By Michelle C |

This place has amazing food and great environment. It is a bit on the pricy side but it is just a great place! Must try the chicken kabob!

Good, but not great

By Kin G |

This is more of an upmarket hookah bar / lounge. It's comfortable, a little bit pricy but worth it, except for the music tunes. When we visited there was a group of clearly drunk girls who were controlling the music playlist. This included them stopping songs midway through to change to a new song they liked and turning up the volume of music to a level where i couldn't even hear my partner talking a metre away! It was irritating other customers too and definitely not professional. Apart from that it was good. The hookahs were great and the service was good. If it wasn't for the drunk girls who ruined the music we would had frequented this place every night we were in town. Hope management doesn't let that happen again. Worth checking out if you want a quality hookah, drink and meal.

Amazing Space & Cuisine; Unorganized & Terrible Service

By e_rizzz |

I was extremely impressed by the ambiance of the venue. We ordered a bunch of apps to split, a variety of cocktails & guava hookah- all was amazing. Now for the negatives- the host told us it would be a 20 minute wait which is not a problem for me at all. However, 45 minutes passed & we were still waiting. When we asked the host if the table was available they scrambled and sat us immediately. Didn't see a server for another 15 minutes & then never again. Saw our buss boy more frequently & had to ask him to send over our server so we could order more cocktails. Would return again, just really hope they get their stuff together by then.

Very good place

Good place with good music food was ok not bad and the drinks was good and atmosphere was amazing loved it

Good Egyptian Food

By Charles W |

We had just arrived in NYC. We decided to eat an early dinner. We started with the Hummus and pita bread. We had the short ribs with mashed potatos which was excellent. There were a lot of people smoking Hookahs but we were able to have a table far from the smokers. Service was very good. I would eat here again.

Amazing food

By Lily S |

We did not realize it was a hookah bar when we made reservations and almost but I'm so glad we stayed. Yes, it's a hookah bar and most people were smoking but it did not effect us. The place was very loud but the acoustics were great and we were able to enjoy our conversation. There was a fabulous live musician playing. Our server seemed a little confused about the items on the menu and we were a little concerned about our order but once the food arrived all was forgotten. We had meatballs for an appetizer and these had to be the tastiest meatballs I've ever had. The place was also large enough for all 4 of us to have more then one. For dinner we had, lamb chops, mac and cheese and short ribs. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly. They just melted in my mouth. My friends had the other dishes and they all raved about theirs as well.

Awesome dinner!

By td1208 |

Stayed at hotel close by, and ordered take-out for two. Host service was excellent. Salads and entrees were awesome! Will eat-in next visit.

Excellent Hookah, Good Food, and Gipsy Kings

By SINYC718 |

We went for a reunion with some of my friends. The music out outstanding, front and center were the Gypsy Kings. Hooked was great, espresso was excellent and the chicken and meat skewers were pretty good.

Great place for solo dining, people watching, and live music.

By hunterpm |

I can't even characterize this restaurant properly. It was close to my hotel and had a table for one near the bar. The scene is young and lively, and the live music (Spanish) was very good and not too loud for a nice dinner. I had a great salad of figs and a very fine burrata mozzarella with tossed greens. The chicken wing appetizer was excellent (not buffalo, very tasty and crisp). A pleasant surprise for a solo business gal just looking for a quick and tasty meal.

Tasty and fresh Mediterranean food

By Paty77 |

Very nice, tasty, spiced to perfection. Waiters were very nice and polite. Very well priced and generous portions. We will be back.

Great Spot for Music, Drinks & Hookah!

By Prettie G |

This was a great spot for music, drinks and hookah. We had a great time. The staff however were not very attentive. We had to constantly ask them to get our waiter.

Great staff, Good food, excellent ambiance. Special Shoutout to Fatima!

By Mahni H |

My experience at Pergola was great. We came in for a Friendsgiving on Thanksgiving Day and they were very accommodating. We made reservations that same morning and they allowed us to stay for like 3 hours from 6pm to 9pm. The ambiance is great, the lowlighting does make it hard to take pictures but that's not really an issue. The cocktail menu is bomb, try the sugar daddy (strong) and the Uva Bombom (refreshing). Our server, Fatima, suggested all the best things on the menu and the hookah flavor, Pergola Dragon, she suggested was A1. I would definitely return, it was great.

Trendy with a Mediterranean flair

By Phil A |

Favorite Hookah spot in the city. Friendly staff, good food , and nice clientele. Must try: Bubble gum, mint and orange mix hookah with a glass of champagne.

Great hooka great service

By Casey A |

Best flavor is the house specialty. The service was phenomenal. The server Goran solved a problem we had and made sure our experience was a memorable one.

Awesome Hideout Best Hookah Really Bad Food

By gsaurabh84 |

Ambiance = 5/5 Hookha = 5/5 Service = 5/5 Location - 5/5 Food = 1/5 If you are there, go with any Hookah, they have specials too - you can't go wrong with that.. Maybe order drinks and snacks but don't order Food.. They aren't good with that :-)

Amazing

By architamodi1 |

The best hookah spot around. Amazing drinks, and the pita bread with hummus is sooo good. The sangria is so fresh and good. Good service and nice people. Amazing vibe

Cool spot for hookahs and a drink

By Tina D / Ohmtina |

A cool vibe with small dishes, drinks and hookah in many different flavors. The staff is not very pleasant but the music and ambiance are cool.

Tasty food but beware of hookahs

By freckles00 |

Nice food. Not being a shisha user, the sudden appearance of hookahs and clouds of smoke next to us as we dined was unsettling. The smell wasn't too bad, but customers should know that there is no location within the restaurant free of hookah smokers.

No Blacks Allowed

By Keith M |

Don't bother visiting this place if you're black. I personally witnessed the doorman turn away black people claiming they were dressed too casually. Never mind there we're white people presently in the restaurant wearing the same kind of outfits. I now find out that this restaurant is being sued for this exact behavior by other black patrons!! This is unacceptable and this place should suffer the consequences!! Never visit this place!!

Rushed

By John E |

Food was average. Was still working on a lentil soup and the main entree came. Felt rushed to finish the soup so the main Lamb entree would not get cold

Nice hookah

By Mohamed H |

Didnt expect to have this really nice hookah out of my home country..food is tasty and place is cozy and nice..arabic music is played sometimes..spent a really nice time there

Full of hookah vapor and loud music

By lunamoonModesto |

This was represented to us by our concierge as an organic Mediterranean restaurant. It was full of hookah odor with hookahs on the tables and very loud hip hop music. Bad scene if you are interested in dining on clean food with a nice atmosphere.

Used to be better

By Maryam N |

So when this place first opened, it was great. Qualification: the service, i.e. the waitresses and the hostesses (which are always good looking women), are rude. They say things like "I can't keep moving you" and roll their eyes at you. The busier they get, the worse it gets. The food was good as of 2 months ago. Lamb burgers are amazing, so is the octopus and falafel. Hookah is great, the best bar none. Having said that, not sure I will be visiting any time time soon, because of the service.

Good Food - Service was OK- would go back for happy hour

By Jrsygrl62 |

The place is nice - the atmosphere great. However there was a group of us there and the lacked on the service. The food was pretty good.

Cool place, decent shisha

By CRV711 |

This is a cool place, prefer upstairs to downstairs. The shisha is not bad, one of the better options in New York that I've been to, it's not exceptional. Staff can be a bit of hard work which is disappointing but generally they are okay. I always visit when I'm in town.

Apps & Hookah Garden Paradise

By Eman A |

Normally, hookah lounges are dark, dingy and filthy but you go to them with that in mind; Pergola, is quite the opposite. The building has a wide garage door that rolls up into the ceiling. There is a lot to appreciate while sitting in here enjoying your hookah. The flowers and branches that are all over the place make it feel like you're outside when you're indoors, out of the heat. I had a fruit hookah which was great. Some mango juice because I personally am unable to drink and smoke at the same time. Their version of a Moscow mule I heard was quite refreshing. I would have stayed for appetizers but I went somewhere else. Either way, this is place is great. It's beautiful, priced well and I hear Saturday nights are crazy!

Favorite restaurant/lounge!

By Heba A |

Hands down the best food, service, vibes and music. I’ve been going to pergola for 5 years now! The energy is always good and the staff is extremely nice. Forever my favorite nyc spot 💃🏻

Poor Service... good food

By Mechelle O |

Food was good. People there can be quite loud, unruly and staff is very happy to join in especially at the bar. My waitress never came back to check on me. I had to ask for my re-fill of water.

best hookah spot in nyc

By Iva M |

I've been in Pergola many times in past years and it has never disappointed me. Except the hostess at the front on Saturdays when they are rude...other than that service is excellent, music on Sundays is awesome and crowd as well.. Food is great too..Always big fan of your Chicken Kebab and Kale Salad.. On top of that hookah is excellent, plus you can get ice pop for hookah for 10 dollars extra. I've never had issues getting a table, but I think it is also because I am there all the time..I do recommend reserving table in advance for Friday's and Saturdays. Music on Saturdays is chill and house, on Sundays mix of old and new hip hop rnb..p.s. Try their Sangria..

Great vibe..! Great Shisha..!

By Lee N |

This is the place to be in New York if you're looking for great shisha in a very cool ambience.. Trendy and stylish local New Yorkers as clientele, one of a kind personnel as their staff.. Service is attentive, the day shift bearded bartender is top notch.. And Goran in particular, during the evenings, is just simply awesome.. Food was really good, try their Lamb burgers.. Their hosts are selective and professional when it comes to who they let in, but that's the whole idea, that's who they are.. Keep it up guys..

New flavors

By ChandlerPriebe |

We had a very good time at this restaurant. The service was friendly and the meals served somewhat quickly. Staff explained the menu which is why we chose this new cuisine. The greek salad was a fun blend of flavors as was my macaroni bechamel.

Love this place

By Maryam N |

It's a great place to relax. I am a huge fan of Hookah and this place delivers in that department. They have some amazing flavors, try the specials menu, it's not cheap but work it. The food is awesome too. Everything I've tried was delicious. Try the lamb burgers. The only minus is that some of the waitresses can be snooty and a little off putting. Other than that, great place.

Ambience and Food hit the spot

By MzGrenada |

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We had reservations and was seated right away but we sat very close to the door, which was very disappointing initially. Once we got our drinks and food I forgot how much I hated our seats. The food and drinks are all amazing, we had the pergola Mule and Jalisco Rose for our drinks, pergola wings and octopus for appetizers, and for our main dish we had chicken kebab and the pergola mixed grill. Did I say already how amazing the food was? Seasoned well and just delicious. Was it crowded? Yes. Do you need reservations? Definitely. Is it expensive? Well for 3 drinks, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees we spent about $180, so depends on what you define as expensive for us this was a treat that we do once in awhile. Overall we really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back. We didn't partake in the hookahs but mostly everyone did and the smell didn't bother us. It's a small place that can get noisy and crowded and it's on the expensive side but well worth it.

Wonderful.

I was searching for a perfect shisha lounge for me and my friend and I was so lucky I found this one. I fell in love with its rustic interior I would say. The hookah was great! We ordered wild berries, apple and blue mist. I also appreciate attentiveness and kidness of the stuff. I highly recommend Pergola for hanging out with friends!
