Fantastic Meal

By Andrew W |

From our first few minutes--an impromptu drink at the bar--to our final bite--2 light and yummy desserts--everything about Perry St. was delicious and elegantly done. We had six different dishes--tuna tartare, avocado yumminess, lobster, duck, a strawberry and a raspberry dessert--and all of them were fresh, a bit inventive, and utterly delicious. All of the staff were friendly, unassuming, and very helpful. Perhaps the highlight of the evening: we asked that the bar recommend a cocktail to go with the lobster. Instead of simply choosing from the menu, they created a new one for us on the spot--and it was heavenly. A top recommendation for a special occasion.

Delicious Asian tinged inventive American food

By Playaneuron |

The Begum Playaneuron and I, condemned to a board meeting in the West Village decided to rescue the evening by trying Perry St., the filial addition to the Jean-Georges restaurant group, especially since we are Jean-Georges fans. We arrived at 9:30 and the place was packed. It was the second night of restaurant week, the New York tradition to spice up the dog days of summer with a (relatively) inexpensive $45.00 three course prix fixe. The meal started with an amuse bouche of a grapefruit-scented Gazpacho. Yum!. We had one prix fix meal - an amazing salmon sashimi with, among other things, a wasabi sorbet; a roast hake with sweet corn kernels, cherry tomatoes, basil, and a tinge of hot spice, and a very good melted chocolate cake. We supplemented it with a second main of rare lamb chops, bok choi rabe, and piperade. The only thing that was not ecstatically wonderful was the bok choi rabe underneath the perfect lamb chops which was fried and a bit greasy and kale-like. I asked the server about the Sancerre on the wine list, was it nicely mineral, and she said it was really quite fruit-forward and citrusy, and suggested instead a Ligurian white which was very good. I always like it when a server gives an honest description of the wine. The room was brightly noisy but not unbearable and the crowd was young and fashionable. Merite un detour, as the tire guy would say.

Very good food

By Christian C |

Host was kind and warm. Our drinks that we ordered at the bar took a very long t me. Most times the server came over it was at that moment when he had forgotten to take our order, bring out drinks, ask for dessert, etc. We appreciated that he acknowledged the digression in service. Ownership goes a long way in my book - we hope for better service next time around. Food was on point as usual.

Amazing Find

By Lisa M |

Perry St is an upscale, sexy, dining experience. Decor is modern.. A Jean-Georges gift! His food goes beyond words. Presentation is paramount. The flavors meld into tasting experiences you'll remember long after your meal! An absolute MUST!

Food was good but expected more for atmosphere

By Luxury Hotel Lover & Critic |

Always wanted to visit because I expected it was the atmosphere that I like. The design is clean look but I think it needs to be updated. Everything seems a little old to me. The chill tomato soup was really really good. The fried chicken was good as expectation. The chocolate dessert was good but not surprised.

Disappointing food, good service, solid but stale atmosphere

By Carr B |

The food is the starting point. The presentation was consistently good accompanied by very good service. Unfortunately the herb/spice sauce associated with every dish overpowered the carefully prepared protein. e.g., the amazing tuna was overpowered by a scallion sauce, and the scallops by the garlic focused tomato accompaniments. The thyme based sauce also overpowered the lobster (the lobster was also ever so slightly undercooked). The atmosphere was very nice and energy very good. It did however feel like a somewhat cheap effort to make a chique atmosphere.

Decent Lunch

By john23 |

If you're willing to make the trek to this out of the way location, be prepared (if you're not a regular or someone who knows the hostess) to be placed in the back section. If you can brave all that, and the hit or miss service, the prix fixe lunch offers a good deal for some very decent cooking.

Sleek and sopjisticated

By Dick M |

Just like the building it's in, Perry Street is sleep and sophisticated. Even a bit understated, from the signage (small) to the menu (short) and to the food itself (intense flavors in small bites). The staff is friendly and professional. The cuisine as elegant as the surroundings. First class all the way.

Exquisite dining experience

By Dennis S |

Have been wanting to go there for years and finally got the chance. Food, service and decor were all outstanding. Kudos to the attentive staff. Expensive, but we did not leave there feeling we did not get our moneys' worth. Acoustics are also a plus. It was crowded but you were able to have a quiet conversation at your table. Would go back in a flash.

Trendy and inviting Perry st.

By Ori M |

Great food and drinks at the perry st. restaurant. The decor in the place is beautiful and it makes the dinning experience very pleasant. Beautiful crowd and creative dishes. Top notch service.

No longer so quiet

By GManners |

I have been raving about this restaurant to everyone, because next to the impeccable cuisine and rather good "american" service, it's also one of the few restaurants which isn't drowned in noise of music and waiting patrons, until now.... Despite it even being listed on a web site as one of the more quiet restaurants (to New York standards), they obviously changed directions... patrons are waiting in mass at the bar, making a huge amount of noise and standing up till a foot away from our table. We had to raise our voices to speak with each other, asking the waiter to repeat his comments on several occasions. This is an expensive, but very worth while cuisine, but this ruined the experience for us. It was our 4th time in 6 months.... wondering if I should just give it that one more try... A good table should be enjoyed in a minimum of serenity, loud music and entertainment are reserved for those who are insecure wether the quality is enough...

Quiet and elevated, but please pay attention to the details

By Starry |

Pricey but delicious. The burger may be the best I've ever had! The pea soup is also a stand-out, though the butter-poached lobster could have been cooked 30 sec less, as it was a touch over. Small things like making sure the flower arrangement is at its peak and not wilted, and cleaning any stains on the tabletop lampshades, etc (generally paying attention to the small details) would futher justify the price point. Nice quiet dinner away from the crowds in NY.

The best meal I have ever had in my life.

By Lynn G |

Friends took me here. This restaurant does not need my review. It doesn't need a review period. The food is delicious; everything is mouth watering; including the small slice of bread at the beginning of the meal. Even that was special.

A very classy affair

By eatafood |

Seeking to impress? Well this is definitely the place, but a bit pricey. Best to be seated far away from the entrance as wintry blast is telling. Presentation and tastes are unforgettable. Decor: minimalist but chic.

Restaurant Week - Excellent Deal

By Bob C |

Excellent choices and varied menu, and participating in Restaurant week, which I have always found to be a way of introducing amazing dining experiences, which we will then revisit through desire! Food was excellent fine dining, portion size was well calculated and dishes a pleasure to behold, as well as taste. Service was of an equal standard, we were in one of the 'ring booths' which seem perfectly designed to allow servers to reach every cover easily. All in all, a fantastic family dining experience.

Excellent food ruined by porr service

By Mark prior |

Firstly, the food was excellent. However the service, particularly from the matre de was dreadful. Ok it was thanksgiving, but it was no excuse

Outstanding Experience

By Tex |

The food is amazing - but what sets Perry St apart for me is the customer experience. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed with a warm and friendly reception. Service is attentive without being intrusive. There is not an ounce of pretentiousness. I have dined at Perry St twice - loved it both times. I will always have it on my dining agenda when I travel to NYC.

Excellent dinner.

By WorldMap |

We really enjoyed this nice bright restaurant in the West Village. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. I had the crispy artichoke and poached lobster. Both Excellent. We had arrived really early as we were tired of walking and they took us early. Not typical NewYorker dining times, but tired tourist dining times! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Big Prices / Little Food

By Thomas G |

Bottom line is the food is just ok and the prices are outrageous for what you get . If your going to charge a fortune to eat at this sub par restaurant at least put some food on the plates . They are serving portions that can only benefit themselves . Food costs must be low in this high priced foo foo joke restaurant that leaves you leaving very hungry . I went there to eat , apparently they don't understand that . Give the customer something to eat for his money. A lot of money ! Never again

Great Brunch, Great Location

By Sharon I |

My husband and I met up with some friends at Perry Street for brunch. The Crispy French Toast was in one word 'Divine'. The staff was super friendly and we had a great time.

A VERY NICE PLACE TO EAT

By Geoff E |

We went there with our son and daughter in law to celebrate meeting up in New York. Apart from the food being rather excellent, the ambience was amazing. Great attention by the staff at all times and it was nice to be able to chat to each other without a lot of backroom noise. Not cheap but nice all the same.

Great food in a relaxed setting

By Tofu |

Four of us had a wonderful meal here. The duck was outstanding, and the red snapper was perfectly cooked. The service was impeccable.

Disappointed

By Ana K |

We were recommended to come here by our clients. At the end of our lunch they were embarrassed to have brought us here. Service: the hostess girls were snotty and their attitude was as if they didn't want to have anything to do w us. I think one of the girls were training so there were two of them. Unprofessional and kept talking to each other. Food: was really disappointed because apparently the son of a famous chef owns it and is a chef there. I ordered the chicken. Every time I took a bite the chicken was really spicy and the hot temp doesnt help. So that makes it kinda hard to eat. Then I ordered the chocolate dessert (various kinds of choc) it was really bland and tasteless. Service: Bad! The restaurant was Not busy but we had to flag down our server many many times. It was had to get him because we couldn't even see him. So we had to ask the hostess girl which wasn't really helpful. Our food took a very long time to come for all courses!!! Our client asked for a non spicy food and when the food came it was spicy. So she sent it back and waited for her food to come. Our dessert took long and even our check. What was up w that server?

Restaurant week!

By London_foodies |

Upscale restaurant in an unexpected location. Great value with the restaurant week menu. Everything was very tasty, maybe just a bit too salty. We had the tuna tartar to start and the duck as a main. We also tried the braised lamb shank, which was very tender, an explosion of flavors! Chocolate cake was also great.

Probably the best brunch in NYC!

By trip |

The starter salmon sushi was out of this world! The French toast was the best I ever ate. Ambiance is light and airy. Great service.

Surely one of the best

By SuzanneNorthLondon |

OMG this is more like it - elegant, comfortable, fantastic service from super friendly staff - Jean George certainly does it for me. I do believe his brother is chef here and certainly does the family proud! As Londoners who visit New York for family reasons as well as cultural, we look for establishments that are high end, but also QUIET which is nigh on impossible in NYC and this certainly fits the bill. My partner started with Grilled Spanish Octopus that was spot on, so tender and served with Hibiscus Romesco Sauce, Potatoes, Pickled Peppers ... perfect. I opted for Crispy Artichoke served with Roasted Sunchokes, Celeriac and Manchego. This was sublime and I know what is takes to prepare as I have done it myself - absolutely fabulous - certainly an oral orgasm! Mains were Grilled Lamb Chops with Crispy and Silky Artichokes, Black Olives, Lemon that my husband tells me were up there with the best he had ever had. I chose Roasted Crescent Duck with Chanterelles, Bok Choy, Herbal Duck Jus that was almost perfect, save the duck wasn't quite as tender as expected. We shall certainly return ...

yummy and beautiful

just wonderful!

By james c |

We have lunch here regularly and it is always excellent. The space is very pretty and comfortable. The food is delicious and is a fantastic deal for lunch!

Outstanding!

By Kirk47 |

We were there for dinner and it was excellent. The appetizers modest in size and tasty. The main courses were outstanding -- we had beef tenderloin, scallops and sea bass. We had the molten chocolate cake and the blueberry pie and they were a great way to end an outstanding meal.

Far West Side Gem

By Michael P |

This was our second visit to Perry St., the last having taken place around two years ago. Some things have changed and some have remained the same. First, what's the same. The food continues to be excellent, with a range of interesting and delicious dishes for both appetizers and mains. The wine list is also quite interesting, albeit deficient in quality modestly priced offerings. And the service remains professional and friendly. What's changed: Perry Street seems to be aspiring to a hipper vibe, if memory serves -- a little darker, a little more background music, and a little noisier. It's completely understandable, but we kind of liked the older version. Nonetheless, should we have have the opportunity, we'll definitely be back.

Amazing food!

By Xav080578 |

A friend recommended this restaurant to me. Every dish were delicious. We started with the mozzarella with agrumes and the octopus. Both appetizers were greatly executed and tasty. Then the beef and the lamb, again amazing. We finished with the chocolate fondant, really good as well. One of the best restaurant I've been in NYC since I arrived a year ago.

The incredible, inventive, generous, and flavorful cuisine of Cédric Vongerichten

By Marc Levy |

There are several remarkable things about Perry Street: the quality of the welcome, the space, the light, the elegant decor, the comfortable seating, but above all, the incredible, inventive, generous, and flavorful cuisine of Cédric Vongerichten. This isn't my first visit, but I'm surprised every time. The Rice Cracker Crusted Ahi Tuna is perfectly prepared: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, yet light. The black pepper peekytoe crab dumplings are also excellent. The fried green circle chicken is a brilliant reinvention of classic fried chicken. And the surprises continue with the desserts—don't miss the French toast at brunch. A simple dish in appearance, but under Cédric Vongerichten's expert touch, it's a real discovery. The flavor and texture were simply incredible

Amazing from beginning to end!

By LoriH1151 |

I don't often write reviews but I was so impressed with my experience at Perry St. From the moment we walked in the door the service was warm and welcoming. We asked for a romantic table and they accommodated us with a perfect table in the back. The quality of the food did not disappoint... it far exceeded our expectations! We started with the tuna appetizer and squash soup which were both amazing. We went with the recommendation of fried chicken and lobster for our entrees. The chicken was so light and airy with the perfect seasoning and flavor. Best I have ever had! We spent some time taking to Anna about where they source their food and she did not mind the questions in the least- she was happy to chat with us and ensure our experience was top-notch. After dinner we moved to the bar and spent some time with Matt who makes THE best cocktail in NYC and showed us a great time- we loved his upbeat humor. We had other plans but decided to stay here instead since we were having such a great time. We will definitely be back, this place has it all- superior food, service and ambiance!!

Delicious but Expensive

By DrZee |

My wife and I had the tasting menu. Four courses, three of which were incredible. Tuna, beets and dessert. The salmon was good but the texture was weird, very mushy. Not sure how they cooked it. The mistake might have been the wine pairing. We should have asked about the price which was our mistake. If I go back I think I would go to the wine list.

Wonderfully Memorable Birthday Dinner

By Brigitta V |

I had the very good fortune to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday at Perry St. It was a spectacular evening, and a dinner all of us will remember! The staff welcomed us warmly with champagne and a special birthday table. This was my first time experiencing a tasting menu. Chef Cédric prepared one amazing dish after another. They were not only delicious and lovely to behold, but each dish built in complexity and heartiness, from a delicate burrata appetizer, to vegetable treats, to a variety of seafoods, meats, and lobster, and culminating in a small birthday cake and several different charming desserts. Everything was presented in portions and at a tempo that left us delighted and not overly full. The birthday cake made for my daughter was lovely and absolutely delicious, and it was a welcome surprise that it was uniquely designed for her tastes. Each course was accompanied by a wine, again in just the right sized amounts that left me appreciating them without becoming inebriated. Although all the wines were smooth and delicious and very complementary to each course, the sommelier's enthusiasm for the dessert wine was particularly infectious and it was indeed very special. I appreciated his kindness in writing down the name for me. The wait staff was very well coordinated, gracious, informative, and friendly. The combined effect was an absolutely fabulous evening! Many thanks to everyone at Perry St!

Most Delicious Brunch in NYC

By Lisa M |

Perry Street is by far the most delicious brunch in NYC! Strawberry Royal Cocktail to start is a must! Crispy Tuna is out of this world! Yellowfin Tuna Burger was amazing! Salmon Tower to die for! Buratta with fresh raspberries & balsamic glaze melted in our mouths! Asai Bowl nice and cold... All the food here is beyond fabulous! The Tropical Banana Split.... there are not enough words! Caramelized Bananas with fresh chunks of mango & kiwi... 3 sorbets. Dark Chocolate, Mango & Dark Chocolate! Off the charts!!! Just love Perry Street

Birthday dinner

By Ai O |

My friend took me for my birthday. The service was great. I had the Sea Bass and my friend had the lobster ravioli. They were both seasoned well and cooked to perfection!

Great Night Out!

By Jaimee A |

This is our second visit to Perry St and we were not disappointed! The decor is minimalist modern - super open and airy. The service is great, our server was very engaging and friendly. The wine list is great as is their cocktail list. We had: Rice Cracker Tuna - delicious - this is one of their signature dishes Roasted Beets with yogurt - delicious House Made Burrata - very good but the plating was a bit odd. It doesn't look appetizing when served. Caramelized Tenderloin - delicious, cooked perfectly Lamb - delicious Peach Pavlova - very good but very tiny - I don't advise sharing All in all we were very satisfied with our dinner at Perry St. We would definitely recommend and come back.

A+ for the dinner, C- for the ambience

By Stanislaus St. Marks |

One of the better Jean Georges restaurants I've dined at from the perspective of their menus and preparations. The staff was attentive, responsive, professional, but a wee bit too intrusive (table turnover anxiety). My only disappointment, seating was cramped, a la my high school cafeteria, and does not lend itself to privacy/intimacy.

Best relaxed lux lunch

By GrahamandL |

Perry street offers a place for relaxed customers to enjoy thoughtful, carefully prepared food. The lunch menu is very good value. Some friends have complaints bed that the decor is sterile, but it feels spacious and slightly beach to me--like I might be in Sydney.

1st Class all the way!

By Keith L |

From the ambiance, to the background music, to the service, and of course the food, all done 1st class! This owner knows the recipe for success! Always a treat when you find both a creative and well executed menu! And they didn't forget about the presentation! Looks just as amazing on the plate, as it is amazing on your palate! And I can't say how awesome they were holding our reservation for over an hour as we were stuck in traffic behind an accident on a Saturday night none the less! I highly recommend the Watermelon Gazpacho, and Roast Duck, but everything we had from the Scallops to the Butter Poached lobster were amazing!

Favourite place slipping off the list :(

By Ken B |

I have visited New York 4 or 5 times over the last couple of years. A highlight has been a trip to Perry Street - beautiful light airy restaurant with flawless service and fresh dishes presented immaculately. So this was to be a trip highlight The place remains as bright and light and airy as ever. But the service and food were not so good. I am rating 4 out of 5 based on a few top class experiences - but if this had been the only experience it would be much less- maybe 2. For a start the waiting staff were really not on the ball. Pouring water and missing the glass, dripping sauce on the table cloth....not what you expect. And the menu had gone weird - every dish had curry or peppers or something hot and spicey that made me go "I hate food like that". There were 5 of us and we all agreed it was a real disappointment after such excellent experience in the past. I guess the waiting staff can have an off day but the menu needs looking at - and a reminder that not everyone wants hot spices, peppers and the like.

Perry is no Jean Georges but the apple does not fall far

By PascalPicks |

Cedric Vongerichten son of fame chef Jean Georges has a difficult path to follow when it comes to splendid cuisine. None the less young chef Cedric gets thumbs up for trying hard to have his own signature hands on cuisine . On a lunch business visit we tried the meats plates and seafood as well as the deserts .cedric like his father uses spices and flavors to enhance his cuisine although he falls short of the gift JG infuses in his culinary arts. The dining room is pleasant the service is punctual and the deserts are the better parts of the lunch experience. Perry provides a good lunch business experience if you are looking for quiet and satisfying experience. I will return for dinner and try their brunch For the sunset and sun rise views . Bon Appétit Pascalpicks

Very disappointing food

By marycontheroad |

In the 90s I was a Jean-Georges groupie. Vong was our go-to restaurant, and we loved 66. But then he went all corporate on us, closed Vong, his flagship, and his food has never been the same since. Every time I go back to one of his restaurants, I'm disappointed. Our meal last night was utterly forgettable. The fried calamari were tough not tender, and the yuzu dipping sauce is tasteless and insipid. The rice cracker crusted tuna is too big a portion and seemed less than fresh. The fried chicken was unremarkable, while the duck was served in big chunks on a bed of "confit" that had none of the crispy, chewy quality of real confit. It was an off putting presentation. The chocolate pudding is overly sweet and with no intense chocolate flavor, a weakness made worse by the sweet candied violets on top. The cherry pie was according to my companion, "diner-like." The room is very attractive and comfortable and the service was excellent, but the food conveyed no artistry or care.

Could be better

By BARON27 |

After reading reviews we felt that this restaurant will offer at least good experience. Service was trying but with frequent untintentional awkwardness with wrong charges at the end. Drinks were beyond horrible and I would stay away from cocktails at this restaurant. May be wine is a safer choice. Bartender has no clue how to make them. Food was just ok, if you put service, bad drinks and food together this place is 2.5/5. There are no reason to comeback.

Wonderful dinner, excellent service, nice atmosphere

By Chaz B |

We had dinner at Perry St during Restaurant Week and it was truly exceptional. There were two of us and luckily two options each for appetizer, entree, and dessert. So we ordered one of each and shared them. Both appetizers (one melon salad, the other salmon sashimi) had an intriguing blend of flavors ranging from sweet to savory to spicy, none overpowering the others. Both were outstanding. For the entrees we had the Hake and the steak, and again both were beautifully prepared and complemented by subtle sauces that greatly improved the dish. The steak was among the best I've ever had. The deserts were also wonderful, and thankfully not overly sweet so the full flavors were apparent. Also - a note about portions. Although they appear small any more of anything would have been too much, we felt the portions were totally fine and left full and satisfied. And did I mention the service? Our waitress was very attentive but not overbearing, and the other members of the staff were quick to check on our beverages and check in as needed. Overall a fantastic experience, I highly recommend this for any special occasion dinner. We will be back!

A Jean George restaurant not ready for prime time

By michaelRehwaldt |

Jean George is one of the best restauranteurs in new york or anywhere. Jo Jo, Jean George, Nugotine, etc. Perry Street has his son installed as chef. The kid is not ready for prime time

Absolutely Delightful

By KonoTMartiD |

Went here with a bunch of colleagues for a team dinner. The service was perfect as was the food. The chef sent out these corn fritters - they melted in your mouth. We also had several appetizers - tuna, soft shell crab, calamari, heirloom tomatoes, grilled peaches and I know I'm leaving something out... the tomato was the most flavorful I've ever had. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. For dinner, the majority of us ordered the buttered lobster. Simply exquisite. We were simply too full to order dessert, but I've heard that the chocolate pudding is the perfect ending. Pricey place, but worth it if you're trying to impress. As other reviewers commented, the location is notable for the proximity to the water and a nice view of the new WT building from the outside.

A NY classic

By stephan j |

Book in advance, wait really patiently for your table and you won't be disappointed. The food is delicious - try the fried calamari and the Atlantic Salmon. All very fresh and cooked to perfection. You might even spot the odd celebrity. Not impressed by the barmen who was rather boring and uninspiring, but that did not spoil our evening

What a great place!

By aphillips61 |

After reading reviews we decided to visit Perry St. on our week long trip to NYC. We were not disappointed at all. In a very clean crisp setting with excellent service, we had a great meal. Once again, trying to make NYC work less expensively we decided to visit during lunch and had the fixed price menu which was as good as can get. Besides the menu, we share one of their classic dishes in the middle, the crispy rice tuna which was superb. I afterwards had the heirloom tomato salad, great! and then the Lobster Thermidor which was lighter and better than I have had. Food and service were really very good and then we went walking along the river to enjoy the wonderful afternoon. We will be back!

Consistently Good!

By Mark S |

We have been to Perry Street many times over the years and it remains one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service is consistently very good and innovative. I would suggest that the decor could use an update at this point but overall, we love dining here.

Magnificent food spectacular service

By Phillips3675 |

We went with friends last night and both the food and the service blew me away. V attentive but not slurpy service combined with great and varied food. I’m looking forward to going back

A delight to your senses!

By Edgar D |

A more relaxed dining experience in a kind of boutique restaurant setting is what you will find at this venue. The food is excellent, the décor is contemporary and the location is wonderful. The playful way in which food is prepared and the unexpected flavors, aromas and textures are a delight. Great restaurant to have a great dinner and have interesting conversation.

Outstanding Restaurant -service was perfection. Food was tasty, liked the Asian inspired dishes.Dumplings are recommended. Very surprised and happy it was in our neighborhood!

DELICIOUS

By HRH921 |

Lovely service, delicious food. Both the duck and the fried chicken were oustanding. Ditto the Pavlova dessert. My first time, though my husband has been several times already - excellent value.

Great meal and fairly reasonable too!

By Jim R |

Great place! We met friends for dinner and were surprised to find a Jean Georges restaurant that is pretty reasonably priced. The food was excellent with creative presentations and lots of flavors. Many of their dishes are spicy, but they were extremely accommodating for two of our party who do not tolerate spice well - the spicy bits were served on the side so we could enjoy them anyway. Great wine list and creative cocktails round out the menus. And the service was excellent.

Lovely quiet restaurant with excellent fare

Had a fun girls night here, and was really impressed by the quality of service and food! Everything we ate was fabulous.

Dinner celebrating anniversary

By Betsy B |

Excellent food, very attractive presentation. Modern decor but not cold. Actually, it is a friendly place. We went back for lunch in August and found it to be a very busy place then and just as wonderful.

Delicious elegance

By Nesha C |

Perry St is a great mix of fine dining and actually tasty food. Some places have ambiance, some are great for the palate. I had the tasting menu: Tuna Tartarte, White Asparagus, lobster thermidor, duck, and chocolate pudding with violets. My Dad had the most amazing sweet pea soup and the salmon. I had a Cara Cara Derby which I would highly recommend. The Syrah was delicious which is what my Dad had. The service was excellent, my water glass was constantly full and the staff was attentive. All the dishes were bursting with flavor. I would highly recommend.

a lovely night out

By BobC558 |

This restaurant serves good, beautifully presented creative cuisine, in a sleek, modern yet unpretentious space. Service is stellar, and every dish I had was not only wonderful to look at, but tasted incredible. The chocolate pudding is to die for!

Minimalist Restaurant with a creative Chef and secluded from the Bustle of NYC

By RossoDiavel |

The restaurant is an European/Asian fusion restaurant. Most of the dishes are European dishes with an Asian influence/twist which is not strange since the Chef was born in Asia. Besides the great food the bar has a choice of great cocktails and the desserts are always surpisingly good. The interior desgin is very minimalist understated which is refreshing.

Exceptional as always

Exceptional food and service. Have been +6 times and have never been disappointed with diversity of menu, thoughtful preparation or appetizing presentation. Friendly and professional servers in beautiful venue with Hudson River sunsets

Jean-Georges son's restaurant:Should try

By Sankarmukh |

I had a reservation for 4 at 6:45 pm on Friday. This restaurant is in far West Village, next to West Street, It is in relatively secluded part. We were seated right away on arrival. This restaurant is quite modern looking and nicely appointed. I ordered a ginger margarita ($16) and my wife ordered a glass of red wine ($18). For appetizers, we ordered a shashimi, burrata.calamari and soup. All of them were very niceley prepared. The shashimi was one of the best I had. They don't have almost any vegetable dishes. My wife asked for vegetable entree and they obliged with vegetable plate. We had fried chicken, lobster and duck. They were all upto the high standard of JG. I also had an ipa. That is where this restaurant missed. After ordering, it seemed the server forgot. I waited almost 30 mins and then on second request they brought it in. But, this is still minor for me. For desserts, we had 2 molten chocolate cake, one carrot cake, one capuccino and one tea. The check for 4 with tax and tip $375.00. Not exactly cheap, but worth it.

Excellent Food, Better Service

By BroomerParker |

I am a Jean-Georges fan, so when we met a friend from California in NYC, we had to bring her to a few Jean-Georges restaurants. Perry Street has a clean, modern design, without being sterile and alienating. I have recently acquired some troubling food allergies, and the waiter and chef were amazingly accommodating. My dish was just as delicious as my two companions' dishes. My husband was tempted to pick up his dessert plate and lick it, but luckily restrained himself. A gentleman even stopped by and made sure that everything had been perfect as we finished our meal.

Excellent

By PuckPasha |

Excellent food and service! Very attentive to our needs. Dishes are well explained and are delicious. On the high decibel side unfortunately.

Fantastic Food!

What a great dinner we enjoyed here! It was a very pleasant atmosphere and the food was out of this world! Service was very good as well!

Frustrating Experience

By pjpro |

Every time I am in NY I try to go to at least one of Jean George’s restaurants. The main restaurant is my favorite in the world, with an execution level that very few restaurants can match. But my experience at Perry St. last weekend was very frustrating. Two major issues: 1) When we ordered food, we ordered a glass of wine and a juice. The first course came, no drinks served. When we mentioned that drinks had not come yet (at that point we had already eaten half of the first course), the server just nodded. A couple of minutes later she comes back to ask again what the order was. When the drinks finally came, the first course was almost over (and that’s because I ate very slowly in the hope that wine would come). I like to drink wine with food. I selected the wine based on what I would eat. If the wine comes at the end of the first course, part of the pleasure is gone. And there were no apologies, nothing. 2) Second course took around 30min to come (after we had finished the first course). After 20 minutes or so someone came to say food was taking longer but would come soon; after another 10 minutes it finally came. No explanations why it took so long, no action from staff. I know things like this may happen; for us it happened twice in a 1-star restaurant in DC, for example. But on both occasions, they brought an additional appetizer for us to eat while we waited for the main course. That’s good service. Plus one minor issue that would be ok if we hadn’t waited for so long: 3) The glass for my wine came slightly warm. When the wine came, it was at the right temperature for white Bourgogne (I had ordered the chorey-les-beaune), which is good. But: slightly warm glass plus wine at Bourgogne temperature means that, when the second course finally arrived, wine was way too warm. A very frustrating experience, unfortunately. Also: I sent this review to the restaurant on the same night, using the only way to send them messages (as there is no email available): through forms in their website. No news from them after 5 days. Not only the experience was bad, but they don't seem to care at all.

Fried Chicken a la Jean-George

By FL_CH |

In a modern if not cold ambience we enjoyed the company of our friends who recommended this restaurant. It was an experience which did not exceed my expectations compared to J-G other restaurants. My friend had to return her over salted dish and we were all sitting there to wait to eat our food. However, the fried chicken was good. But that’s about all.

Modern classic

By Betsy B |

Perry St is a fabulous restaurant. The food is prepared using the best fresh ingredients. The menu is relatively small and changes with the seasons and availability of produce. The service is excellent. We have been here for both dinner and for lunch and we were equally pleased in every respect each time. We have seen business groups, solo diners and other couples.

Amazing experience!!!

By Jorge C |

We had dinner there last night and it was amazing!! Above and beyond expectations, the staff is super friendly, the server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was truly a delight. We loved this place and will definitely be back. One of the best restaurants we have been to in NYC. Congrats!!!

Fantastic From Start to Finish

By Frank D |

This Jean-Georges West Village gem aptly describes its ambience as "relaxed elegance." We arrived on Sunday, just as the restaurant was opening, intending to have a pre-dinner drink. Our bartender, Derrick, was friendly and warm, engaging us in easy conversation. We tried two of the specialty cocktails, both of which were expertly mixed and presented. Dinner was beautifully prepared and the service was flawless, as one expects, but does not always receive from a fine restaurant in New York. We never felt rushed or bothered by the wait staff, who went out of their way to observe and anticipate our needs. Every dish we sampled was tasty and well prepared. I have eaten in several fine New York restaurants, but few offer this degree of total satisfaction.

High End Food in an Elegant, Spacious Room

By travlngurl |

Our visit a week ago was at least our fifth visit to Perry Street, and we enjoy it a little more each time we go. The ambiance is lovely, sleek, elegant, and minimalist with a good amount of room between tables, a luxury unfortunately not always provided at New York restaurants even at this price level. The food is spectacular. This is chef-made food; these preparations and sauces cannot be replicated at home. These are dishes you will not find elsewhere. On this visit we enjoyed the duck and lamb, but on previous visits, the tuna, the seafood plank, and the sea bass were also delightful. Service is attentive and friendly. And, though we had declined ordering dessert, when our server learned that it was our wedding anniversary, he insisted on treating us to a lovely serving of chocolate pastries and house-made ice cream. Perry Street has become our first choice on special occasions.

Cool space,Great food,Good service!

By Doctor-Robert-56 |

Food was delicious and the space is really great. The service was good, and the price was what you would expect for a NYC restaurant. I will definitely return.

Delicious food in a peaceful setting.

By Sue T |

All four of us had shellfish or fish and each main dish was delicious. The kale salad I had as an entree was also wonderful. The desserts- carrot cake and Rhubarb Frangipane were beautiful to see and to eat.

Impeccable attention to detail

By MichaelMack |

Taking a group of business associates and friends, we had a terrific meal. From the reception from the hostess, to the well crafted cocktails, and very appealing atmosphere, I was almost worried the food would be a let down after a great start, but the food we just as carefully thought out and executed as the rest. All of our seafood choices were excellent, and the fried chicken was a hit with the table. Definitely a favorite in a city full of them.

Nice neighborhood spot

By Jimmy B |

Very nice restaurant on the far west side of the West Village. Modern and airy as well as a fairly quiet spot to have a nice conversation. Food was good and the menu was interesting and appealing. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here but if your in the hood, a certainly worthwhile choice.

Food Perfection

By Lauren H |

Perry St never ceases to amaze us! The food is always delicious- the menu is unique and the flavors are always bold and beautiful. We came here right after our engagement, and came back last week to celebrate the first night of our honeymoon! Perry St holds a special place in our hearts, and we always have a wonderful time. Henry was our sever, and he was so friendly and helped make our night perfect. The Mushroom appetizer was something we will remember forever, and the Chicken dish was so crispy and delicious. My favorite is always the chocolate pudding with candied violets- it's so simple but so lovely. Thank you, Perry St, for always outdoing our expectations for a perfect celebratory dinner!

Great for a date

By Velco F |

Very good food and great service. Went for restaurant week and still spent more than $120 per person but worth it

Good food and service

By Vincent LEE |

We came here for birthday celebration. This place is nicely decorated. Service is excellent. Each dish is outstanding.

Perry St truly delivered for our anniversary and our palates

By 212NYCgal |

Our concierge recommended Perry St as a great choice for a special anniversary dinner. He was exactly right. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We each ordered a cocktail -- he a scotch and me a special house recipe bellini, both great. We each had the Chef's tasting menu and were not disappointed. The courses were well paced, the portions appropriately sized. We each had a glass of wine with dinner -- each a generous pour. The waiter was extremely attentive, but never intrusive. At one point I dropped my napkin and before I realized it, a staff member brought over another one saying he had noticed it fall. My water glass was never empty, in my opinion one of the best indicators of great service. We would definitely visit again.

Wow

By Fiona M |

Well I don't really think Perry Street needs my review, but here goes. We loved this place. Expensive yes, but in my mind well worth it for the exquisite food and service. With reservations hard to secure and our friends being late to arrive, the staff were patient and understanding and while we knew we had to vacate out table at a certain time we never felt rushed. The decor is fabulous, and for someone who struggles to hear the acoustics were pretty good. But it's the food we come for and it didn't let us down. If I could have licked the plate I would have. You must order the tuna for starter! Luckily a friend had told me just that and I was so glad she did. Mind you everything else looked pretty good too. While there's always new place to try in NY, we have added this to our list of places to eat at each visit- a new favorite.

Worth the trip!

By LisaNYU |

Dined here after seeing the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. A bit of a schlep downtown but very much worth it. They take late reservations and at no point did we feel rushed through our meal. The staff were great and the food was tremendous. Would definitely recommend!

It’s a treat place.

By Sidji |

If you are in NY and looking for something a little special for an occasion perhaps, Perry st is an option, a little bit off the beaten path. It’s a cool restaurant with an exciting menu and happy service. Whilst none of the dishes took us on a mystic culinary journey it was all very delicious and memorable especially the fried chicken which is a finesse on the American classic. Yes it’s expensive but then again everyone needs a treat from time to time.

Loved it here

By el04 |

Have been wanting to try but a bit out of way. So glad we made it! A group of 6 --we had a very comfortable booth. It is spacious and you can hear each other so we loved atmosphere. Food awesome. Amazing artichoke app, octopus delucious. Mushroom app amazing, beef tenderloin and Brussels sprouts fabulous. Great service too--its a keeper

Upscale and terrific

By larrylegend28 |

I meet with clients at this restaurant and it never disappoints. The food is terrific and there's a nice vibe in the place - not too stuffy, not too loud. If you're in this part of town, you'll love it.

Relaxed calm place

By DRC |

I often come here solo on my first night when I come into NY from HK or London. It’s a great restaurant to unwind in, have a nice glass of wine and good food in an upscale but causal and calm place. The atmosphere is calm and the decor modern and quite zen-like. Lounge-like if that makes any sense. It’s got life but in a nice calm way. It is perfect for a nice quieter dinner with one’s loved one as well. My wife and I came here during our last visit and it was exactly as above. The food is good and I reiterate what the positive reviewers have said. I would not say this is the top food place in the city but one doesn’t want that every night and definitely not when one has just arrived. Service was fine and we had a great evening. Nothing stood out as being truly exceptional but the overall experience is very good. We had a great relaxed dinner which was exactly what we wanted.

Gotta love Restaurant Week

By 221anny |

We chose the Restaurant Week menu and the food was delicious. For USD$38 you had a courses. The only downside was we didn't have time to breathe between the courses so not sure if it was because it was the Restaurant week menu or it's like that all the time. To compensate the fast service the food was fresh and tasty and it would be good to go back and try the normal menu. Maybe next visit.

Excellent food

By KATHY C |

Food was excellent. We were a table of 8 and they put us in a corner booth and all the service came from behind which was strange and not ideal. We would have preferred a straight table sitting across from one another. Service was decent considering the circumstances. The chef should be commended as the food was excellent but you paid for it, this is a very expensive place.

Special Occasion or Intimate dinner for Two

By ccpark888 |

Some of the most picturesque and fresh dishes to dine on the west side in the beautiful open restaurant. Great service and attentive staff to explain all that is at the plate and such eye candy of delicious fish and colorful dishes to mix and share.

Great food with romantic atmosphere

By Moyashi S |

Very thing was just excellent. The poached lobster is a must try. The calamari with Yuzi is very interesting. Carrot cake is a great choice for dessert.

Best Restaurant

By Michael N |

This was my 8th time dining here at the Perry Street Restaurant and every time the servers and managers treated me like royalty and the food and drinks were above and beyond amazing. The bill is always high but you definitely get what you pay for here. The location is also great with a full view of the Hudson River right out front. I highly recommend this place for anyone willing to pay a bang for their buck ~

Excellent

By NycGeorgen |

My wife and I, with two friends, had a terrific dinner on 8/5/16. There were only two choices per course on the Restaurant Week menu -- but each of them was excellent. We started off with a really good amuse bouche of strawberry gazpacho. The service was in the synchronized form, beautifully done.

Almost fabulous

By Donald G |

This place is hard to find but the food is worth it. A starkish little room with lots of light, our party of six was well taken care of. The food in this place is superb. Appetizers, main courses, desserts, all beautifully prepared with wonderful flavors and a terrific presentation. New York prices (medium to high) served at a moderate pace. However, we hit the wall trying to get a check! It took almost 45 minutes to get our bills, resolve a few minor issues and get out the door. We got there at 12;05 and were not able to leave until after 2. It was a fiasco. It dampened a wonderful meal.

Better than good food

By John C |

This place by Jean George is a great place to dine and socialize. Very creative fare based on some classics like Fried Chicken or a Cheeseburger with that Jean George fare. Prices are not bad for NYC but, then again, it's NYC. Brunch selections are also a must-have.

Good food, good service and quiet--by NYC standards

By Suzanne M |

I was relieved to be able to hear the other people I was having dinner with as most restaurants in NYC are unbearably noisy! But Perry's has a bit of space between the tables and it is carpeted, so the noise is muted and maybe the people that feel they have to shout while they eat go elsewhere! The food was very good as was the service. It is expensive but a very enjoyable place to eat. The portions are very small, though!

Graduation Lunch

By jakesamdad |

We had a preset lunch for our son's graduation. The food was good / great; the service was wonderful and the ambience was very nice. And it is very very quiet even though it is on a very busy road.

Elegant West Village Brunch

By John D |

Located on the ground floor of the Richard Meier Towers (Perry St and West) you get spectacular views of the Hudson River and the sunsets that go with that direction. The food is blend of Asian, French and American. We were there for brunch and started off with several kimchi bloody Mary's and blood orange mimosas that definitely fed the hair of the dog. Jean-Georges and Cedric Vongerichten make sure that this restaurant runs like a Swiss watch (which it did.) We shared a wide variety of foods including tuna tartare sashimi, kale salads, a salmon tower chicken, calamari sundaes, ice cream and one cranberry pavlova. It was all wonderful. If you are looking for a fantastic room with excellent food, then this is the place!

Incredible meal!

By Jesse L |

Everything about this place is perfect. The food was to die for and the service was impeccable. The tuna appetizer was the single best dish I have ever had. While not cheap or even moderate in price, the value for what you are getting is absolutely worth it. It truly is one of the more special meals you can have in New York.

Uneven Modern

By MILOUW |

This restaurant has potential but needs to improve on a number of fronts. In a modern building along the West Side highway, the place offers nice views of the river. With wall to wal windows the acoustics are poor although tables are well spaced out . Very uneven food coming in fairly small portions. My tuna appetizer was sliced and diced in minute cubes, unfortunately spices killed the flavor of the fish. My main of lobster Thermidor came as half of a small lobster smothered in sauce and again too spicy . The dessert of sorbets was quite poor with one of the two sorbets being I believe grapefruit and with a chemical taste. On the other hand, others had asparagus to start and grilled salmon ,both quite good. Expensive wine list. Service appeared inexperienced with some communication issues.Glasses and silver ware would appear and disappear .Water was dispensed well but bread had to be obtained slice by slice. Altogether a rather disappointing mixed bag.

An excellent experience

By Russell860 |

We had an excellent experience with the fixed price menu. All courses were very good with everyone thinking the tuna tartare being outstanding. The wines offered were also very good and covered a very reasonable to expensive price range. At ~170/person was good for the quality and experience. Definitely worth a visit.

Best brunch in Manhattan

By Ryan M |

We've dined here many times for brunch. The Lobster Thermidor is the finest of all time. Stylish space, magnificent waitstaff, and appropriately priced high end gourmet. The crown jewel of the West Village and better than the other Jean-Georges restaurants in our opinion - I believe his son operates this one.

great food ..great service..great view and stylish

By William G |

wonderful place...don't believe some of the complaints about small portions...the amount of food, and more important , the food itself ,was outstanding, as was the service..I'd go back in a heartbeat...

Disappointing end to an evening

By DavidMS1 |

I have a tradition of dining with friends and family on Christmas eve at a nice restaurant in my neighborhood. Having dined at Perry St numerous times in the past, this was the choice for this year. The food was wonderful, as always, and the pace of service was quite leisurely--almost on the slow side--but we didn't mind as we were enjoying our evening together. The moment we finished dessert, however, the bill arrived immediately and was settled quickly. When the Maitre D picked up our signed copies she informed us that they had people waiting for 20 minutes for the table and would appreciate it if we would leave promptly. This kind of rudeness--especially when at a higher end restaurant--is unacceptable. I understand that their service may have been slower that night which caused delays with their table turnover, but that was not our issue, it was theirs. In addition, there were many ways that the situation could have, and should have, been handled without being so rude. Unfortunately, I will not be dining there again anytime soon, will certainly not recommend it (as I have in the past) to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in my neighborhood, and will alert as many friends as possible to the experience. There are many dining choices in NYC. Being treated so rudely--especially for a higher end meal--is unnecessary.

Perry Street Is A Terrific Restaurant

By Dieter K |

Perry Street is a terrific restaurant, where everything is right. The room is modern, but warm in subdued lighting. The service is excellent by very good looking personnel. The sound level is very moderate by NYC standards. My aperol spritz was delicious and I loved the king crab appetizer. For an entrée I ordered a lobster out of the shell, which came in a delicious creamy sauce and to top it off the chocolate mousse was nicely set off by mint ice cream. Perry Street is not cheap, plan to spend just about $ 250.00 for a 3 course dinner for two with drinks, but it is worth it. . It is rare that I give 5 stars to a restaurant, but Perry Street deserves it. I shall be back.

Delicious and not pretentious

By Carlos T |

This place turn out to be a great discovery. The food is delicious and it is not pretentious as other NY spots. From the tuna tartare amuse bouche which was delicious, to their signature entree 'tuna crackers' and their lobster...everything I tried was great! Service is friendly and feels authentic (unrehearsed). Only things to improved: Their cocktails...the only cocktail I tried (perry st colada) was not particularly good. Also a little disappointed by their dessert choices.

good

By jjjoey |

This restaurant was good. It is a bit out of the way if you don't live in the neighborhood. I prefer other restaurants in this restaurant group more. Not a bad choice. But you might find better.

Very good

By Ma-Gri88 |

We loved this restaurant. We come here for dinner and everything was great. The staff very friendly and attentive. The food very good and ambiance was elegant and relaxing. Will return soon.

Average food, below then average service

By RGSOUNDF |

Not sure why Jean-Georges Vongerichten chose to stick his name to this restaurant; sure enough we all care about our children and wish them well, but not to to the degree of compromising one's reputation and brand. We opted for a Perry St Tasting Menu, which features 5 courses including dessert but not including the amuse-bouche. The only good part of the deal is its affordability, $88 pp. That, more or less, puts the end on the 'good stuff'. The dishes, which are constant with one seasonally changing course, are very common. The Lobster Thermidor, supposedly the highlight of the menu, is a classic French brasserie fare with no surprises and no twist. The amuse-bouche was strangely presented on one plate for two people. The rest of the menu was OK, but what is an OK for a start-up restaurant is definitely not OK for an establishment proud to belong to Jean-Georges' network. The Chilled Tuna Tartare and the Roasted Crescent Duck were very decent but, again, not much creativity or fantasy put in. We would even say not that much effort. To be fair the Chocolate Pudding (Lightly Whipped Cream, Crystallized Violets) was delicious. The service was shockingly bad. After showing us the bottle of wine we picked, the server disappeared; the amuse-bouche and the first course followed each other and our wine was still missing. For the price tag of $368 one might do much better in New York.

Horrid Dining Experience

By Speechy53 |

Perry Street Restaurant was possibly the worst Restaurant Week experience ever~there was hardly any food on the plate and horrid, unprofessional customer service by the management ever!! When the portion size was questioned, we were told we could order additional food from the menu if we were unhappy. Do yourself a favor and avoid this overpriced restaurant!!

OMG, the octopus appetizer

By Marla N |

We tried Perry St. because of the Zagat review. It did not disappoint. Loved the octopus appetizer -- so tender and the sauce was amazing. The rice cracker crusted tuna was also very good as was the salad with the green goddess dressing. For entrees, the scallops were awesome and the poached lobster had great flavor but was a bit rubbery. The sommelier, Benjamin, was terrific and attentive.

A Truly Superb Restaurant in NYC

By JeremyPF |

Perry St is probably one of the best restaurants I visited in 2018 - perhaps ever. A little off the beaten track, the restaurant faces Route 9 (West Side Highway) in New York City and overlooks the Hudson River (although the river is obscured for the most part by buildings). However, what makes this restaurant so special is the welcoming staff, totally professional (but not stuffy) waiting staff and the most unbelievable food and menu choices. My family and I enjoyed a scrumptious dinner with guests choosing either the Dover Sole (filleted at our request), steak or salmon. The Calamari starter was so tasty I can honestly say none of us had eaten anything like it before. And our Waiter was so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating it just made the whole evening very special. And a special word of thanks to our very skilled Sommelier who guided me through the wine list and recommended two Pinot Noir choices. I chose the less expensive one of the two and it was outstanding. Highly recommended.

Decent food, bad cost benefit

By namereno |

We had dinner in this place in a friday night... Food had good dishes and not so good ones... Service was not the best and price was above the fair price in our view

Place to visit

By Xrayline |

This is becoming a trendy restaurant on the west side of Manhattan. The room has a pretty zen design. Foods are international and the only Alsace inspiration from the owner can be found in the wine list. This wine list boosts an excellent selection of French wines. The food menu is well balanced with a fish biais, and the sauces are very tasty and enhancing the flavoring. The lobster with potato raviolis is particularly attractive and worth to visit. Service is very efficient, but could be somewhat a little bit more discreet to avoid interfering with guests talks. Price is on the high side but well justified.

Great service, great food, we had a magical time

By Phillips3675 |

From the very first moment we entered the restaurant it was magic. Chelsea the hostess was lovely. Nick our server was the perfect combination of totally knowledgeable and friendly. He helped us choose courses that worked well together. My wife and I were celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of our first date and we had a magical and romantic evening. We will definitely be recommending Perry Street to friends and it has become our go to restaurant when we want to celebrate.

Always enjoyable

By Peter R |

This décor, service and food here are excellent and it's far off the beaten track that you don't have large groups of shrieking people. Love the elegant modernist décor and every dish on the menu is well-executed. Am a particular fan of the steak tartare. Love the fact that they also are open for brunch.

A neighborhood feel on the west side highway.

By erflanagan |

We had a wonderful birthday dinner there the other night. From our fantastic server, Henry, to the bartender there was a very intimate feel to make the evening feel special. Yet, I bet that is how it feels ever night. The menu was manageable and reflected some amazing choices from the “best lobster I have tasted” to the filet. The apps could be a meal by themselves. Tuna was fantastic. Right off the highway but quite a beautiful ambience inside. Very modern feel.

Service is super. Good food. Good experience

By pieroinusa |

If you like to be treated well, this is your place. The young crowd taking care of you executes spotlessly. In addition, easy parking, not too noisy room, nice decor help you enjoy a particularly smooth experience. Food is well presented, tasty, but a little too rich in ingredients, that end up confusing a bit the palate. Both the grilled octopus and the scallops were tender and well prepared but too many other ingredients distracted from the true flavor. In any case, the octopus was one of the most tender I ever had. Menu is rich and intriguing. Wine list is good. Desserts are very good. Overall, a place worth going back to relax and be surprised by their menu.

Excellent!

By Maria G |

I’ve been to several other Jean-Georges restaurants, and this is the best by far. Everyone was so friendly. They greeted us and thanked us for being there. we were there for Sunday brunch, but both had entrées. We had the salmon and the chicken. They were both perfectly cooked and delicious. We were able to substitute sides without a problem. We shared the butternut squash soup as an appetizer, and they spilt it for us. No problem. The cheese, pumpkin seeds and tiny croutons made it extra good. We had the poached pear with ice cream on puff pastry. Delicious!! I had never had a hibiscus poached pear before. I hope I have one again soon. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is worth the price.

Best Restaurant in West Village - Consistently and Over Many Years

By stephrab |

Without a doubt, this is THE Best restaurant in the Far West Village. There is nothing close. 1) Service is excellent. Someone always has an eye on the table. Management checks in regularly. Nothing is left to chance. 2) Food - Yes, a vegetarian CAN get an amazing meal here and yes, so can anyone else. The menu continues to be innovative and creative while at the same time providing filling portions and exquisite combinations. 3) Wine - You can buy wine by the glass at reasonable prices as well as wines by the bottle. You can also splurge if you so desire. If unsure, the wine steward will be glad to assist in a way that does not make someone feel anything other than valued. 4) Desserts - are always worth a mention. SAVE ROOM!! Skip an appetizer so you have room for the dessert.

Wonderful dining experience

By wnjskj |

What a delightful place! The entire staff is so caring in their service and attention. Chef Cedric Vongerichten's passion for creating beautiful and delicious dishes is what would keep me coming back often if I lived in NYC. From the salads to the desserts, each dish was a delight to the eye and palate. Can I just say that the Pea Soup was the most delicious thing I have ever had! This is not your momma's pea soup! Thank you for an amazing experience. There is not a lot of signage on the outside of this place so don't miss it!

Disappointing - poor service and mediocre food

By dgrgcg |

Very disappointing. I came with my mother, 16 year old and 14 year old daughters (dressed for a show). We had a reservation and the restaurant was nearly empty but were placed next to the bathroom in a dark corner (tables hastily pushed together). The server served my daughters before my mother which I found surprising for this type of venue. We all waited over 5 minutes for cheese for the one pasta dish while our meal grew cold. The pasta was tasteless (even with the cheese it wasn’t eaten) and the sauce for the salmon was so salty it ruined the meal. Not a pleasant experience.

Where is the food and wine?

By christinecir |

Have been here with the same group of friends several times. Had always been great but after last visit will not be returning. The only thing tinier than the amount of food served was the wine poured by the glass. The food is very good - fried chicken, molten chocolate - but just skimpy.

Perfect Perry

By BosoxKen |

Went here on New Year's day for dinner and it was stellar. We started with cocktails of the Blood OJ Mimosa and a Negroni. Both were delicious and a perfect way to start our palates. The menu is smallish but fabulous. We started with the calamari appetizer and a sashimi appetizer. Both had great clean flavor with a little bite. Our mains were the lobster and salmon dishes which again were prepared nicely and had wonderful flavors. I paired the lobster with a Pouilly Fume (exquisite) and the salmon with Ponzi pinot noir, wonderful. We tried the 2 chocolate desserts which were decadent and delicious. The space is clean, crisp, not at all cramped and sparse on the decorations imho; love it. Our server was Eileen who was very helpful. My only issue was, while not rushed, a tad slower on the pacing might have made for an even more enjoyable experience.

Always Excellent

By onesuitcase |

I keep coming back to Perry Street because the food is absolutely delicious, the dining room quiet and conducive to conversation and the service impeccable.

Fantastic Meal & Service

By Matthew |

We were welcomed into this beautiful restaurant from such fantastic staff. I've never been at a restaurant with a nice and simplistic atmosphere as here. It's in a nice location. Meals were a little too small of a portion, but you could tell that they used good ingredients. We had gone for brunch. We will definitely return again. Thank you!

Fine Dining in a Beautiful Space

By Judy P |

Perry Street is a culinary gem. The chef is Jean-Georges Vongerichten's son and the food is wonderful. They have a prix fixe three course lunch everyday (not just restaurant week) for $29 that is a bargain. Last week I had a wonderful kale salad, with crunchy kale on top of fresh kale with pecorino and a flavorful dressing. My favorite appetizers are the calamari, which is like none other you've ever had. Almost a tempura fry, with a frothy dipping sauce - well, you have to try it if you are a calamari fan. It is fantastic. They also do a great tartar if you like that. For the main I had the slow cooked salmon with roasted brussel sprouts, which is perfectly cooked and delicious. I've also had the fried chicken, which is delicate and very delicious, with a spicy sauce. One friend who is a fried chicken fan says it is his favorite in the city. (with the possible exception of the fried chicken dinner at Momofuko) On the prix fixe the desserts are either a molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (Jean George is the one who invented it originally I understand) or a carrot cake "sundae" - both delicious. The room itself is modern and beautifully decorated in a minimal style. There are round tables good for large groups, as well as intimate tables for two. It is quiet, which I prefer. The restaurant is on Perry Street and West Street - practically on the Hudson River. The front is a glass window and the view is great. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. Service is excellent, everyone is friendly. Great for a leisurely lunch or a special dinner.

One of the best restaurants anywhere

By dcolins |

This attractive and stylish restaurant is at the end of Perry Street across the road from the river. As you enter, you know you have come to the right place; the hostess who greets you is charming and friendly, and you are escorted to your table. I have dined here perhaps 20 times at lunch and for dinner, and whether the lovely lighting is in use or the large windows are flooding the place with daylight, the atmosphere is always excellent. The food is absolutely perfect. The octopus appetizer is definitely the best octopus I have ever eaten, superb with romesco sauce and tiny potatoes. The crisp sunchoke is also very good, and the squid is superlative, very tender and served with a delicious yuzu foam dipping sauce which complements the crisp squid perfectly. I can never resist the lobster for my main course, it is one of the most delicious dishes obtainable in the world. It is butter-poached and served without the shell on a bed of spinach and accompanied by several potato ravioli (who could imagine that potato ravioli would be as gorgeous and sexy as they are here?) and finished with a coconut and lime leaf sauce poured at the table. Although I couldn't contemplate ordering anything else, I certainly sample companions' dishes; the lamb is beautiful, a perfect dish, the Duck Breast is exquisite and the fried chicken wonderful. All the desserts are excellent, but I usually find myself choosing the molten-middle chocolate cake served with ice cream. The lunches are fantastic value; at $32 for 2 courses (though they usually seem to include a free dessert too!) you can't do better. I would recommend every dish on the lunch menu as I have tried everything. Of special note is the beautifully cooked salmon, and the Gingered Rice Bowl with a crisp coated poached egg. And the staff! What a joy it is to go to a restaurant where the staff have been trained to such a high degree, or perhaps they are employed because they are so very charming and extremely professional. The General Manager is a delightful woman who might welcome you with literally open arms. It has a beautiful vibe, whether it's for a gentle and relaxing lunch or the more exciting but still gentle dinner service. This restaurant, Le Caprice in London and Lanterna Blu in Imperia are the very best places on the planet to enjoy thrillingly good food, a lovely atmosphere and superb service.

great place for a delicious, unhurried meal

By sparkizoid |

Besides the wonderful food and service, this is an excellent spot for a relaxed, quiet meal (especially lunch). You can't go wrong with the prix fixe. The à la carte is great as well. I love to take friends or business colleagues here when you really want to connect in a peaceful, pleasant atmosphere. If there is music, I was hardly aware of it. A rarity these days in NYC.

Simply amazing!

Got Perry St recommended, but didn’t research before hand, just reserved a table. Beside the dimmed light, candles and very cozy interior, this meal was one of the best I’ve had the last years. I ordered the burrata for starters, and it was creamy with great taste accompanied with orange and grape. But the main course - omg - I ordered the butter lobster with potato ravioli and spinach. I’m blown away. And I have to come back.

Exceptional Food and Atmosphere

By Dioc |

I attended a wedding dinner at this restaurant and it was a perfect space for family and friends to gather and celebrate the wedding couple. The service and food was exceptional. The food choices were interesting and creative and the wine paring was outstanding.

Truly wonderful on all levels.

By FineTravellerNewYork |

This was our second visit, and it was even better than the first, which was hard to believe. The setting is beautiful and comfortable . The service was terrific, and not in your face. The food outstanding. Just so nice to relax here. New York fine dining at its best.

Excellent food but hard to get to for dinner

By J p |

We went here for dinner. The food was absolute perfection. I had a blackened sea bass for main and split a calamari for app. There was a thyme lemonade with vodka which was awesome. The staff were very professional and proficient in filling up the water glasses and providing fresh napkins etc. The location was nothing to speak of. Would be better if it was closer to Bleeker St or even a couple of blocks east of where it is. But that is a minor issue.

PRETTY PLACE...PRETTY EXPENSIVE

By Bobsij28 |

Nice ambiance, okay service but downhill from there on...my dish grilled black sea bass was medicre...either over cooked or not really fresh to start. Making matters worse...way too salty. Accompanied by large mushroom. This entree plate not attractively presented either. I did not enjoy the experience. My husband ordered the lamb, not a likely choice since menu is primarily seafood. Lamb chops were small and lacked tenderness. The biggest insult is the total overpricing. In summary...stay away!

Great flavours and cookery!

By Andy T |

Enjoyed a fantastic meal here, food has great flavours and is really well cooked. We shared starters- tuna tartar with puffed rice crust and jonah crab dumplings were sensational. For main I had roasted crescent duck with chanterelles and passionfruit which was a delight, the flavours worked so well- I would have liked a little more passionfruit but otherwise perfect. My only criticism was that I personally found the restaurant lighting just a little too dark.

Will definitely go back

How to write a review without gushing? It's really hard when it comes to describing Perry St. The restaurant has a pleasant vibe to it - modern without being pretentious. Perhaps a little loud, but ask for a table in the back and the decibel level goes down. The waitstaff could not possibly be more attentive. My husband happened to look around just to look at how full the place was, and immediately someone was at his elbow asking if he needed something. Everyone keeps an eye on every table. There is none of the "I can't see you" look that waitstaff sometimes gets. Then there is the food. One word - OUTSTANDING! There wasn't a single thing wrong with anything that we had from the bread, to the appetizers, to the entrees, to the dessert and cappuccino.

Romantic date night.

Such a great experience! Friendly welcome from Hillary to start. Such knowledge from Neiko about anything liquid. It was an amazing presentation. Food was outstanding and fun. Would definitely come back!

Excellent food - never disappoints !

By Benjamin-traveler |

Delicious food in a lovely, modern setting. Perfect service. Lunch menu at $38 is an excellent deal for a taste of chef JG cuisine. Often overlooked, Perry St never disappoints. I am really surprised by the 3-star reviews to be honest. I have visited for lunch regularly over the last 10 years and always enjoyed my experience. Found that itbis always a bargain for high-end cuisine. Brunch offers an additional menu of benedicts / pancake / duck hash / etc. We opted for the French toasts which were also excellent. For dessert: Molten - Lava Chocolate Cake is a must. The same as the michelin-starred JG at Columbus Circle.

Worst restaurant experience I've ever had.

By Amberca1 |

The worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I dined here for lunch while on a business trip. I'm a huge foodie and was really looking forward to it; even though I didn't have anyone to go with I still wanted to try it, and wanted the 'whole experience' so booked a table for one. Unfortunately I left mid meal embarrassed and very dissapointed. 1) took them over 30 mins to seat me (1:45 pm reservation on a Monday). 2) they were out of the caviar dish. No problem, I can deal with the first two as I wasn't in a rush and understand things happen. The next two really put me over the edge... 3) the server (not the main one) didn't have the consideration to serve my appetizer from the front of the table (he literally stretched over the back of a booth from the busy hallway not even in the dining room and literally threw it down. It literally scared the heck out of me. 4) this was the absolute shocker... Mid-bite during my entree, someone (the Somm or the mgr), came up and asked me to move tables because they had to sit a party of three next to me and "had poor planning." First of all, I have never been asked to move tables in a fine dining establishment to accomodate someone else- it's something you'd expect at your local casual bar. Second- I was not taking my time, I was eating very quickly, and was prepared to drop cash (my check would have been the price of a normal two top if they hadn't run out of caviar). I'm certain they wouldn't have asked me to move I was with another person. Lastly, you make me wait to be seated for over 30 mins yet make me move so someone else doesn't have to wait to be seated? I'm literally mid-bite... If you're going to ask which to me is pretty unacceptable), think about your timing. Needless to say I moved tables, blushing, while other diners stared, didn't take another bite, asked for the check without finishing my meal or my $20+ glass of wine, sad and just really embarrassed. Makes me NEVER want to go to a JG establishment again.

Good Eatery with High Ambitions

By Przeglad |

If you drop in to a restaurant and see, on the wine list, a five hundred dollars plus per bottle of wine you might expect white and starchy table clothes on the tables. Not here. The place has a friendly staff, some good choices of appetizers ( i.e. grilled octopus, wild mushrooms) and main courses ( the duck) but that is it. Yes they do offer fix menu at a reasonable price and even a few wine bottles selection at more reasonable prices but the diversion of reality and ambitions is overwhelming. Still a good choice to visit while on the way to new Whitney Museum.

Modern and elegant

By daffido |

The food is creative, with some Asian influence. The prix fixe is reasonably priced with a very good selection to choose from. The tuna tartare, the beef tartare, the mussels, the fried chicken are wonderful and recommended. The lobster Thermidor, however, is a bit too small in terms of portion. The service is pleasant and friendly but a bit on the slow side.

Big Flavors

By pookala |

As with other Jean-Georges restaurants, the highlight here is the food. Big expansive flavors and first rate ingredients served by professional well informed staff. Perry St is a quieter, more restrained environment which provides a real relief from the noisy of-the-moment restaurants where the decibel level can be stratospheric. Our party of eight was belatedly celebrating a birthday and this dinner was the perfect venue. Starting with delightfully refreshing cocktails like the Vodka Thyme Lemonade, Whiskey Buck to their tasty version of an Old Fashioned we knew we were in for a treat. Our party of picky eaters were all pleased with their appetizers and entrees. Highlights included the Butternut Squash soup, the Rice Cracker Encrusted Tuna for starters, the classic Fried chicken, lamb chops, the pan seared Sea Bass and the really incredible caramelized Beef Tenderloin as main courses. The beef is served with comte cheese laden cauliflower -one of the most decadent vegetables I've ever had the pleasure to taste. A rich and satisfying dinner left us with room for just coffee for dessert and a single slice of a scrumptious Raspberry Frangipane Tart served with an ample scoop of Vanilla-raspberry ice cream. Deep sigh. HIghly recommend & can't wait to return.

Not so good

By Dangoandbob |

First off too waiter 15 minutes to take our drink order. Appetizers all came out good. We had two duck entree and lamb and fried chicken. All enter came out Luke warm except the fried chicken. Sent them back came back Luke warm again. We ordered carrot cake dessert. The carrot cake was hard like a hockey puck. They threw two desserts at us to apologize but didn't much care for any of the dessert. Even the home made chocolate with the check was not good. Hate that I paid $300 for this dinner. Beware. Great location. Lots missing

Delicious food, well worth the hype

By Robert L |

Perry Street is small and elegant without being pretentious. From the appetizers through the deserts the foods was subtle and obviously well thought out. Do your self a favor and experience it, you will be glad you did

Thank You Ritz Carlton For The Recommendation

Had a great meal at the place where Cedric Vongerichten – son to the legendary Jean-George’s Vongerichten has this cool modern restaurant. We when for brunch and brought the kids. I had lunch (Caramelized Beef Tenderloin) my kids had the buttermilk pancakes and the wife had the acai bowl. What can I say except we were blown away on how good the food was. This is the reason i love NYC. PS get the Brown Butter Carrot Cake it is to die for.

Outstanding lunch menu

Amazing quality food which has been consistent for the last 10 years. It's each time a pleasure and the lunch menu is just an incredible value for the price.

The restaurant is beautiful. All our dishes were very tasty, innovative enough without going of the deep end and stylishly prepared. We were here for an earlyish (for downtown) dinner and the noise level was comfortable. Cannot vouch for later. Definitely recommended

Came here for brunch and was not disappointed with the service, drinks, food, and desserts. I was very pleased with everything and everyone from the time we walked in to the time we left. Definitely will come again!!!

We went there for Christmas dinner. The food was absolutely phenomenal, the service second-to-none. Some of the diners were quite pretentious, which we didn't particularly care about, but worth pointing it out as it somewhat defines the atmosphere - and I'd say you would want to know that when choosing your outfit!

the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

By Stebella X |

I had unfortunately a terrible experience with this Restaurant. I went there in a business trip with some New Yorkers friends. I’ve been impressed by the wonderful architecture of the building, and the atmosphere of the ambient. During the dinner I had crispy calamari and a lobster. The courses were very tasty, and very good - looking. However immediately after the dinner, on my way back to the hotel, I’ve started to feel bad symptoms of alimentary intoxications, which has been raised up across the night, until daylight… It was the worst experience of my life in a Restaurant. Some of the people who were with me had also Crispi Calamari and other courses, they all enjoyed the dinner that much. NONE HAD LOBSTER BUT ME! This is reason why I think that the alimentary intoxication was given by the lobster. I do not know how did it happen; I just want to let you know that I’ve eat lobster many times in my life, and I’ve never had any problems or allergies with this. So if you absolutely want to visit that restaurant I suggest to avoid lobster!!!

Wonderful

By Jabrd |

Every item on every course hit the mark. Octopus appetizer was perhaps the best octopus prep I've had. Butter poached lobster was fantastic. Sea bass likewise. Dessert, drinks wine likewise. Most highly Recommended

Cuisine Haute couture!!

By Cécile |

We came here for Dinner with friends and had our baby with us. This was no issue and the pram could be next to the table as the restaurant is very spacious. We loved the atmosphere: it was Perfect for friends as well as for a date. Minimalistic interior design with just the Right light for Dinner. Service was one of the best we ever experienced. Last but not least the food! What an experience! Everything we ordered was exquisite (and we travel a lot!). All in all a Great experience; definitely to recommend - we Walked back to 6th avenue down Perry Street after : a plus for a date night ;)

Nicely served lunch!

By Canyc09 |

Lovely place off the buzz of the busiest streets. Modern decor and nice service make this place a great option for a quiet lunch with your partner (or would be great for a business lunch). We've chosen the taste of summer menu and the options were delicious. We tried the sweet pea soup and the steak tartare as appetizer - both nicely done - and the ginger rice bowl and Salmon as main course. Both have chosen for dessert the Pavlova (I think it's the name - merengue with strawberry sorbet). The service was great though slightly slow but we really didn't care as we had plenty of time and we particular don't like when they rush you in a restaurant. Highly recommend this place for a quiet and delicious meal.

Lovely brunch

Bright, casual atmosphere. Went here for brunch and had a lot of interesting options for food. Their menu does change but so far everything I've tried has been very good and plated nicely. (Instagram-ready) Service is very good and food didn't take too long to be served.

Excellent food and very good service. Try the calamari and the chicken. Alternatively, get the pork. The chocolate cake is absolutely incredible. Very upscale but yet modern and fun.

Still the best

I've been coming to Perry Street, usually, around once a month for almost 10 years and it's always such a pleasure. At this point, many of the staff feel like family, and they are there to make sure that you are having the best time and experience. Mack's knowledge of cocktails and wine is unparalleled. He is an astounding resource for anyone wanting to pair their meal. Hillary has been a beacon of light and warmth since my first visit many years ago and continues to provide the best, most elegant hosting that there is. Henry is delightful and ensures everyone feels like family. He's fantastic. The food, the ambiance, the staff-all 10/10. I love PS.

Excellent, confortable yet ekegant restaurant overlooking the Hudson

By UWSJazzLover |

My sister is visiting and we went to Perry St. For lunch. The service was excellent. The waiter could not have been more understanding and accommodating about my sister's restricted diet and my limitations as well. We each found food we could eat, and the chef made a few changes in the dishes for each of us. We were each delighted with what we had. My sister loved the duck, and I loved the beef. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, with subtle flavors that enhanced every bite.

Enjoyed it

Best food and service in town, I highly recommend Perry Street, for lunch, delicious and inventive seasonal food. Try the Portobello appetizer

Amazing, creative and Delicious Lunch

By CW |

Was treated to Perry Street for lunch which is a price fix $29 for three courses. It is a bargain way to experience creative and delicious dining. The presentations where artistic and the flavors were magic. I started with the asparagus which looked like a salad with little flowers on top. The asparagus was clustered at the bottom of a flavorful mixed greens. Main course was the salmon which, I have to admit, I was surprised at the plating which was designed on one half of the plate. But the portion was sufficient and the salmon moist and yummy. Desserts - strawberry shortcake-like with ice cream and sherbet and a warm chocolate cake with ice cream. I don't know which one I liked better. Atmosphere quiet at lunch and a bright and airy space.

Restaurant with Delicious food and reasonable price.

We have business lunch with our family. Delicious food and wine by reasonable price. Meal is beautiful and very delicious- meat, fish, duck, salads, desserts - everything Perry St is a quite, elegant, comfortable restaurant with fantastic service and friendly staff.

Lovely Dining Experience

By CW |

We celebrated an anniversary with dinner at Perry Street and totally enjoyed every aspect of our meal. It started with a amuse Bouche of onion soup and then we shared a grilled octopus as an appetizer. The octopus was perfectly cooked and wonderfully spiced. The appetizer size is perfect to share too. We then had Halibut in broth and the lamb chops. Both were cooked to perfection with the right amount of spice and other ingredients. For dessert we share the crème brûlée and they were kind enough to put a candle in and happy anniversary message on it. Very relaxing pace of service. Very nice service. All in all a perfect evening.

Terrible service

By Foodie |

Service was horrific and completely unapologetic. Despite having more than enough staff we had to ask for wine, ask for water, ask to order and eventually when our food came, the side dishes did not. Instead of apologizing the manager and waiter who eventually brought the side dishes said they wouldn’t Schaffer’s us for them. We didn’t even eat them at that point because we had already eaten our dinner. We just wanted to get the one dessert we ordered and get the hell out of there. They wanted to bring us desserts in the house which we said we didn’t want. They brought them anyway! And we had to stay even longer. They absolutely did not understand that when someone is not enjoying a meal or is frustrated by the service, the last thing you want to do is to stay longer. They should have comped at least half the meal and given a meaningful apology. Even worse, my son left his back pack at the table and when I called to see if I could come and pick it up, the manager who said he was there the night before told me that no back pack was found. It was right next to the table where we ate! Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention the couple who came out of the bathroom together who were obviously having sex in there!! Life is too short to put up with this.

Stylish Restaurant, Creative Cookery

By jmstorm |

Airy, with big windows facing the Hudson River and all done up in shades of white, this place reminds me more of Los Angeles than New York. The effect of food, service and décor is one of modern elegance, and there is nothing to complain about. Superb ingredients prepared to please the palate and the eye. Tough to get out of for less than $75 a person, it's the kind of refined place where a rich person from the neighborhood could eat every night and never be bored. But for the money, it's not really exciting. If you're a visitor to New York, there are many more memorable spots, where you can spend 25 percent more and have a real experience, or 50 percent less and have a better time.

Always a Ten Out if Ten

By Whitney M |

I’ve dined here at least a dozen times between brunch and dinner. There has not been a single course that disappointed. Service is impeccable and every dish a delight. I highly recommend doing the tasting menu to experience it all or at least the lobster thermidor. Despite the high quality and caliber of the owner/chef, prices are reasonable

I love this place

I have been many times at Perry and always the food the service and the drinks were first class. but especially I like that it's still very relaxed and casual. The design is very understated and Chef Cedric takes his craft very seriously.
