Great spot for dinner

By Anne R |

Great place right outside Grand Central Station. Good food and service. Catered for all tastes including a fussy eaters

Highly recommend

By Vanessa H |

We stumbled across this restaurant while waiting to visit summit one, which it’s right beside. The bougie look caught my eye, we were greeted and sat promptly. Our server was Georgie, he was so professional & friendly, I’ve never experienced service like it in Newyork before. The food was also very nice. The whole experience was fab and I’d recommend it. Even the background music was spot on the whole experience was great and amplified by the professional service by Georgie.

Rip off

By shaun b |

Happy hour 4-6 … not happy at all. No indication ( at all) of what it applied to , but apparently not alot!!!!!!!!!! . Pathetic marketing to rip you off . Be warned ….🤔

Bruce was extremely rude to me

By Natan Edelsburg |

Bruce was extremely rude to me and cited a policy that was never told to me. I made a 9:30am and 10:30am reservation and was kicked out of my table after the first reservation. He told me I could sit in the café but that’s not what I signed up for. He said that’s there policy and when I asked where it says that and why I wasn’t informed he said, “do you want to go there” in a very aggressive and rude tone. Have been coming here for years, never again.

“Corned beef hash” resembles nothing close to real corned-beef hash

By 777clyle |

Terrible corned beef hash. Do not order unless you want 95% corned beef is cooked to the point of shoe leather, mixed in with 5% potatoes (and I’m being generous I poked through looking for potatoes). It’s an abomination to actually call what they served corned beef hash!

Don't bother.

This place came recommended to us for a great breakfast. 1st impressions were of a fantastic location and great building. However, unfortunately, it was mostly downhill from there! The hostess barely broke a smile as we were greeted and shown to our table. The menu was small but we both managed to choose something we wanted to eat. Our server also was unable to smile and seemed to be in a hurry to take our order the minute we sat down. The place was only about a quarter occupied so lots of servers walking around not concealing how bored they were and not otherwise attentive to the customers. We had to call a grumpy looking server over for water and coffee top ups, however, when we had finished eating our plates were quickly whisked away and replaced by the bill. We did not feel at all welcome, I'd definitely not bother going back!

Nice lunch, well located

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Met friends here for lunch. Grand Central was convenient for all of us and this is well regarded so that was the choice. Two of us had the Turkey burger, the other had the pot pie. All were good, not great. Service was good, did have to ask for water.

Must do restaurant NYC

By Raymond B |

We were in the city for four days before visiting family in New Jersey, actuall we had breakfast there for three of the four morings, absolutely amazing the food, service and vibe was incredible, we had the best experience everyone made us welcome and there was a guy there who should be the owner (i wish i could remer his name) We shared lots of stories and he was great highly, highly recommend Pershing Square restaurant, actually we are back in Feb 2026 and definitely our go to breakfast place, may even try an evening meal there ....Fabulous

GREAT Service + GREAT Food = :)

By The Mighty Travelers |

Odd how just a little bit of attention to detail goes a long way, especially in the restaurant business. Pershing Square still offers that. Not to mention the food is just EXCELLENT and the atmosphere WELCOMING!!! The bartender, Mark, seems to always be in a great mood and offers the best recommendations. If he says it's good, it'll be good! I love that!!! Had the house sangria and the chicken wrap sandwich, neither of which I would order normally. DELICIOUS!!! Until next time, I highly recommend a visit. It's directly across from Grand Central Station. You can't miss it. A+++++

Great brunch on a busy thanksgiving

By gillk65 |

Was in this diner 15 years ago and it was good then too. Lovely thanksgiving brunch. Garden omelette for me, steak and eggs for my partner. Neither of us were disappointed. Very busy but good service. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area

Fluffy light pancakes

By lomaro |

Make sure to make a reservation I had the fruit salad and we shared a portion of blue berry pancakes. My husband har 2 eggs, toast, saussage and home style fries. Freshly squeesed OJ, tea and coffee for about 100 dollars. All the food tasted good and the panncakes are very light and very tasty. The restaurants decor is very nice.

One of our Favorite Meals

By BatchFam |

We got hungry and were at GCT. This is a toss the street under the Pershing Bridge. There’s outdoor or indoor seating. Service was great and food was so yummy.

The worst host ever!!!

By Chelsea S |

The older women at the host stand made me extremely uncomfortable and awkward because she got an attitude and tried to have a mug off. I asked to be seated and she told us to wait. I saw tables opened but assumed they didn’t have enough staff, that was until someone else walked in and got seated immediately. I asked how long the wait was after 15 minutes and she stared at me, mocked my voice and made me feel like I was being weird - asking for a table at the host stand. I asked to see the manager (which I never do) and she never showed up so I will be leaving a review everywhere. do not go here!! Also really bad chicken pot pie!!

Nice brunch, excellent service by our waiter!!!

By delfinacuario2000 |

Second time at this restaurant, this time we ate at the main lounge, unlike first time when we were placed in the front where is more cafeteria style. That is something quite strange as this time, although the restaurant was almost empty, still, they tried to seat us in the front part of it, where tables are smaller, no table cloth, and it looks isolated, but when I asked to be seated in the main lounge they did indeed took us there. This is something that does leave a bitter taste as the last time we came, we could understand it as the main lounge was full, but why would you want to seat someone at an isolated area when the main and most beautiful part of the place is empty? It´s just strange but I still wanna give 5 stars as our server was super friendly and the food amazing. We had omelette and salad for brunch and also the best onion soup I ever had. Prices are reasonable. Just make sure you ask to be seated at the main lounge.

Beautiful and tasty

By Katy S |

Had a great burger here and the dining room is beautiful - classic American diner style. Very enjoyable if not cheap but very little is it seems in NY. About $90 for 2 burger meals and 3 beers. Very handy for Grand Central Station too. Recommended.

Avocado salad (light), chicken panini (more filling)

By Bernburgerin1 |

Relatively quick service. Server was so soft spoken and had a heavy Spanish accent that he was hard to understand. Food was good.

A good option close to Grand Station

By Hamilton |

Great food and atmosphere!!!!!!! Price a little expensive. Worth the experience!!!! Very interesting location!!!!!!!!!

Manager could do with some training in customer service

By Louise R |

We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who sorted us out a table. It was absolutely freezing outside so we were glad to get in the warmth. Our hostess was friendly. Food a little expensive for what it was but we enjoyed nonetheless. We all had big coats and no where to put them so my brother placed his neatly behind his head so we had room to eat and relax. We were then approached by a lady who had been sent over by a female manager (black hair, glasses and wearing a black suit) to ask if we could move the coat as it was making the place look untidy! How very rude! Firstly as a manager make sure you have facilities for your PAYING customers who can hang their coats or offer a cloakroom (we do in the UK) secondly you send a member of your staff over when we could clearly see you! Thirdly not once did we see you engaging with any customers. You walked around the place with such an angry face. It actually put us off so we left. I did try to find you so we could have a conversation about your lack of customer service skills but you were no where to be seen. Some constructive feedback for you…smile and talk to your customers, it makes a massive difference to someone’s day! Happy holidays!!!

Great breakfast!

By Penny C |

Delicious! We had a great breakfast here, pancakes, French toast, Eggs & Corn Beef Hash. 5 x clean plates, full tummies and happy we’d finally found a decent breakfast, on our last day in NYC! Great portion sizes too for the price, we were happy. Great service and the place itself has a great atmosphere and looks art decor, with modern twists. Don’t dismiss this place, the frontage may deceive you, don’t let it.

Expensive but excellent food

By Sophie G |

We ate brunch here on a friend's recommendation. We made a reservation and I am glad we did as we couldn't get a table on the following Sunday. I found the food expensive but it was probably of a higher quality than other diner's we had tried and overall we were very happy. Unlike a previous reviewer, we had free coffee refills, which at the cost of a brunch for four of us, I would have expected. Opposite Grand Central Station, so really handy to go see that and then a short walk down to Macy's.

The place to go to for breakfast!

By Dalia E |

Delicious food in a very beautiful setting with super amazing staff. The French Toast is divine and the hot chocolate is a must try!

One of the best breakfasts in New York

By Travelozzy |

Just love this movie location spot which thankfully is more famous for its breakfast. Our second visit and we loved it even more. Fairly well priced for the quality and quantity of food. Service was excellent, quick, friendly and attentive - just what you need with a but day in the city in front of you. I had the Eggs Benedict with Salmon (now we all know that’s called an eggs royale … but not on this menu!) and it was gorgeous - one of the best i have had anywhere. Just perfect. Do book so you’re not disappointed.

I’m sorry for causing you strain by coming!

By Bellamy B |

It’s disappointing to see how the quality of service has declined. When servers feel entitled to behave however they please—ignoring customers, making them wait unnecessarily, and acting as though they’re doing you a favor by simply taking your order—that’s a real problem. What’s worse is having to flag someone down in a nearly empty restaurant, only to be met with visible annoyance. That’s not just bad service—it’s disrespectful.

Great find

By jkdavis9 |

Our hotel recommend this restaurant; it was so good. Right across from Grand Central. Food was very good, we had breakfast. They use locally grown produce and eggs from the Amish. Would definitely recommend.

AVOID!!!!

By thehoust |

Slow, rude, cold food, mains delivered with starters, so sent back as had French onion soup (which we all know is temperature of volcanic lava, so isn’t going quickly) and then given back same food freezing cold, complained (and as you can see from my other reviews, I very rarely do) - AVOID!!!

Wonderful for brunch

By Mick W |

We - two couples - had brunch here four times in a week. Marvellous. The place is buzzy and busy, yet the staff were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food is simple yet tasty and, for four Brits, portions were large! Yet, somehow, we cleared our plates.

Simply brilliant from start to finish

By Steve T |

Just visit, you really won’t be dissatisfied at all, the service was quick, the servers polite and understanding, the food really nice and not expensive. Honestly the best food place we visited in NYC Tip Get in at 8am

Breakfast and lunch diner

By Matt S |

Great breakfast selection, definitely well cooked and presented. Reasonably priced and very spacious restaurant, so not difficult in obtaining a table. Worth a relaxing brunch under the traffic above!

Breakfast too expensive, to avoid

By Lilinparis |

Our hotel did not offer breakfast and indicated this address in front of Grand Central. The place is nice and the servers numerous. Friendly welcome, quick order: pancakes (3) and French toast decorated with a few pieces of banana and strawberries, maple syrup, American coffee and tea = 81 dollars. The most expensive breakfast we had but that left us hungry. New York is very expensive, however, this breakfast really wasn't worth that price, it's overrated and exaggerated. Avoid this place and go elsewhere to enjoy a good breakfast with the feeling of not being fooled.

Bad customer service.

By Explore55201543207 |

Bad customer service! They were all mean with me and my family. At first, they isolated us from the other customers by giving us a table where we didn’t want to then they rejected to let me charge my phone even though they have plugs inside the restaurant. I don’t know if it’s because we’re all Black, but we felt discriminated.

You eat well

By PatriziaPaci |

The room is spacious, the staff very nice, good food, but above all the bathrooms were super clean and fragrant! Price in line with those of NY but not crazy! Typical American brunches available but also salads! My daughter eats gluten-free and they made her a grilled chicken with chips!

Good American breakfast

By A. B. Cl. |

Good a la carte American breakfasts. Ideal location across from Grand Central Terminal and Hyatt Grand Central Station.

Very disappointed. Over priced and staff all glum

By Sean |

This came recommended but fell way short on other diners. The staff all look glum, the food portions very small and way over priced. The bill was 50% more than another diner where the service was much much better. Maybe the location dictates the price but a very disappointing experience from this place that doesn't even have the feel of an authentic diner

Great breakfast

By Gemma D |

Lovely restaurant close by to central station, we ate here as a family of four all had a lovely breakfast each with really good friendly service. I would 100 % recommend coming here for a good honest yummy breakfast.

Best breakfast in NYC don’t miss out

Nothing better in NYC

Simply the best breakfast in New York

Simply the best breakfast in NY! We had a really tasty meal, great service and super atmosphere. Best to book as it was busy!

Rude, unprofessional and racist staff at Pershing Square Cafe. Brings shame to New York City!

By Sightsee22403856726 |

24th February 2023, 3 PM: The two staff members that interacted with us at Pershing Square were downright rude, unprofessional, and RACIST. Reference: On our business visit to New York, my colleague and I visited Pershing Square at lunchtime to meet with senior associates of a prominent NY-based organization. What we faced over the next 1.5 hours from the hostess and our server was just appalling. Details: 1) Upon sitting at our table, we kindly asked the server if any table had a charging port for my laptop. Instead of saying no, he said very rudely, "No, this is a restaurant. We cannot help you with that. What are you ordering?". We were taken aback and told him that we are waiting for our guests and will order once they come (since it would be rude to order beforehand) 2) Our guests arrived after 5 minutes. Soon after, the server interrupted our meeting and told our guests, in a very unfriendly tone, that "my hostess has instructed me to tell you that you cannot keep your winter jackets on the platform behind your table". This was odd because the jackets weren't blocking anything or anyone and we didn't see any jacket-hanging section on our way in. A fair request, but it did not have to be so terribly conveyed! 3) Since our meeting was going to be long, and only the dinner menu was available at 3 PM, we decided to start with coffee. The server came to our table, took the coffee order of our guests, and asked my colleague and me - "so are you guys going to stick just to water". RUDE AND UNNECESSARY! We were ready with our coffee and fries order, and this was sickening! 4) After we placed our order, the server came back to our table - and whispered in the ears of the ONLY white person on the table that we will have to order much more than 4 coffees and fries if we wanted to continue sitting there. Our guest politely explained that we will be ordering mains after the coffee. This was appalling behavior, and downright racist and rude. The restaurant was only 5% occupied. If it was their policy - we respect that but why couldn't they just let all of us know? Why whisper to the only white person in their ears? Our guest was so embarrassed and apologized to us on the server's behalf, recognizing what had just happened. 5) 5 minutes after that - the hostess then came up to our table and VERY rudely said that we will have to shift to the cafe section if we were only going to have coffee. We reiterated the message to her that we would order mains, but just wanted to start with coffee! 6) To stop them from interrupting our meeting again and again, we just placed our order for mains and asked for it to be packed because we didn't want to sit in that racist and unpleasant environment for any longer than we needed to. It's another matter that the vegetarian burger and fries I ate were pretty terrible and not worth its price at all. 7) Throughout our time there, our server treated us terribly, was unpleasant, and had the most disinterested expression on his face. Our guests, who were hosting us, were so embarrassed throughout and kept apologizing to us for even recommending this place. 8) We decided to leave the place. The last straw was on our way out. The 4 of us had to find our jackets on our own. Literally had to go inside the wardrobe, find our jackets, and find someone to give our jacket tickets to. All this while the hostess was casually standing around, looking at us struggling, and not helping at all. I have been to the United States thrice in the last 12 months, across both coasts. Every experience has been warm and welcoming. The people have been incredible and such good representatives of what the country stands for - diversity and inclusion. The two people we interacted with at Pershing Square Cafe belittled us and truly put New York to shame. We will not let them be representative of what the country and the city stand for, but will never visit this restaurant again, nor recommend it to anyone. After reading other reviews on TripAdvisor, I understand that many more people have had a similar experience here. SHAME ON YOU, Pershing Square. There is no place in today's day and age for this behavior.

Appreciate the baggage check

By Choie82 |

1st half of the space is a coffee and pastry shop but keep walking back to the restaurant where it's white cloth. Even though we went for lunch, we still felt taken care of. We both had the greek salad which was great. Would recommend and right by Grand central station.

Good family breakfast

By Dave |

Good experience at this restaurant. Felt like a traditional American diner with a touch of class…although you do pay extra for this. Friendly staff, good food, big portions. We had breakfast and were very satisfied. Would definitely visit again.

Convenient for Summit Experience

By Lauren |

Popped in before going to the Vanderbilt building, the French onion soup was to die for! Staff were friendly & couldn’t be more helpful, service was also very quick!

A must in New York

By Almerinda Paola de Franciscis |

This place, as well as being historic and being in the center of NY, in front of one of the exits of Grand Central Station, has an extraordinary Art Nouveau charm. Every time I'm in NY I can't help but go there at least 3/4 times...lunch, breakfast, dinner, aperitif...it's always extraordinarily clean, welcoming, "affordable", good quality, courtesy, kindness, professionalism and that pinch of familiarity that never hurts. L What can I say further? Quality/price: a nice combination. Don't miss it. Almerinda Paola de Franciscis

Don't do Andrew's Coffee Shop... Go here.

By Mark D'Souza |

MUCH friendlier staff... Awesome food... Majestic ambience and overall, a proper diner experience. The only place on our NYC visit that the kids really begged to return to.

12 years on still as good!

By SFPrior |

Revisited 12 years on and it is still as good. Great location just opposite Grand Central Station so you can amble around that pre or post time at the restaurant. Very busy but great service. Not cheap but great quality and choice of food.

An unexpectedly fabulous lunch

By Curlywurly |

From the outside this place looks like somewhere you might not want to go! But inside it’s amazing. Really friendly staff, interesting menu, fabulous vibe. We had chicken pot pie, and Tina Nicoise. Both were amazing, served quickly with a smile. I would definitely return here.

Great food, but double check your bill!

By David G |

I am giving this restaurant a three...an average of 5 for the good food and 1 for dishonesty. I had been there a year ago, when we visited family in NY and wanted to return as the food was great. This time, as before, the food was excellent. Then we got the bill. We were a party of 5. We asked to have the bill split 50/50. Without telling us, a tip of 30% had been added. In Houston, tips are not automatically added unless the party is 6 or more. In addition, when a tip is automatically added, the bill indicates that fact and includes a line for "additional tip." Not here! Below the total the usual choice of tips was present. No indication that the tip had already been added. The wait-person did not inform us. It was only after we had examined our bills that this was discovered. Maybe this was an error. I will give them the benefit of doubt. To be honest, next time we are in NYC we will probably go back...but remembering to take a few more seconds to double check the bill!

Good option close to Grand Central Station

By caiohenrique83 |

Excellent restaurant for lunch near Grand Central Station. Varied menu, fair price and good service. Good variety of wine options by the glass

Terrible staff

By Eddie S |

Got seated and spent 10 minutes watching 6 employees doing nothing. Never waited on. You can do better! Awful service, why?

At stone throw from Grand Central, great atmosphere

By 369geico |

The place is inviting, located across the street rom Grand Central Terminal, you feel like coming in. As often when places are busy and sought after owing to their location or their atmosphere or their name, staff is not always at the standard. This was the case at Pershing Square where people managing the waiting line and waiters were not at the top for the least that can be said. But breakfast was great in a very fine place thanks to the decorum in a good location

Exceptional food

By Chris Bebs |

We came here for my wifes 40th birthday meal and was worth every dollar. The food was exceptional, Staff really friendly and helpful and a lovely warm quiet environment. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well located, fast service

By Cara T |

Standard American breakfast. Fast and efficient service and easily accessible. The food is okay, but it’s not a place I’d seek out based on the cuisine or quality. Bustling atmosphere.

Great breakfast. Tasty lunch

By Rowena G |

This diner was recommended to us by a friend who had recently visited and by the hotel where we were staying. We had coffee and apple pie the first day we were in New York, breakfast all 4 mornings were were in the city and lunch on our last day. The menu had plenty of choice such as eggs Benedict, omelettes, bacon, pancakes, oatmeal and fruit bowls. At lunch I ate the best steak I had ever had. We had booked the first breakfast before we left the UK but booked the rest of our breakfasts as we realised the diner was so popular. We were lucky to get a table for lunch without booking. This diner is definitely on our ‘must visit’ list for our next visit to NYC.

Awesome customer service.

By Claremont C |

Myself & my friend were both craving desserts on this Tuesday evening & randomly stumbled across this awesome restaurant. Best decision we could’ve made!!! The hosts and our server were all courteous, attentive, knowledgeable & kind. Our order was also presented to us in a timely manner. Prompt service is always a plus! We will surely be back to try more items on the menu. 😊 -

Avocado Toast with a Side of Attentive Service

By Tanya T. |

Here are the corrected sentences: I met two friends from Italy here for breakfast. I loved the variety of foods on the menu because the options were healthy, and there was a nice variety of choices for me (as a vegetarian). I decided on the avocado toast which arrived with a side of spring greens and tomato salad. The avocado was mashed (unlike others that may be served with slices) and was topped with sliced boiled eggs. The food was good, but I was mostly impressed with the service of our waitress. She was quite attentive without being annoying. She promptly took our order, came back to check on us often, cleared our used plates, and brought the check in a timely manner. The atmosphere is inviting, and I don't know how old the restaurant is, but it had a bit of a retro feel with a modern touch. I highly recommend it and would visit again!

Conveniently located across from Grand Central Station.

By Lynnkro1 |

Great location directly across street from Grand Central Station. Cute historical restaurant with friendly wait staff.

Food average at best, crazy prices

By James L |

Overpriced for what it is. Food average at best, $10 for a small glass of juice (not even freshly squeezed), $12 for a slice of carrot cake. New York is expensive, we've been many times before, but this place seems to make the prices up out of thin air. All I'm it cost us $84 for a tea, coffee, juice and cake. It really isn't worth it at all. Yes, it's a cute diner, iconic etc. Stand outside, take a pic then go to Starbucks. Food quality simply out of sync big time with price. Avoid.

Beware if you book brunch

By MiltonKeynesWhoosie |

I had wanted to dine & as my pre birthday treat booked brunch 3 months in advance. As the day approached I was so excited. On the day we were seated and told the brunch menu had finished. I showed the waitress the times on the website and she said the times hadn’t been updated. I asked if I could book for the following day, she said to book at the desk. When I tried this I was told they don’t accept bookings for small parties despite travelling from the UK, waiting 3 months and being disappointed nothing could be done. So crazy after seven years of wanting to go there and this being my first visit since then, to be totally disappointed.

Opposite grand central station - great for drinks / meals during the day

By Molsonfamily |

Great breakfast - service - not the cheapest but worth it .Opposite Grand Central Station / Grand Hyatt hotel

Terrible chicken pot pie

By Theresa |

Restaurant itself was lovely but the chicken pot pie was terrible. Crust was undercooked and pasty. Gravy was consistency of water. Very little inside the pot pie. A few thin short strands of chicken - significantly less than one ounce. There were three largish pearl onions that were too big to put in your mouth and too difficult to cut. Two slices of carrot and a few bites of undercooked potato and a couple of peas. I would have sent it back, but we had plans and there wasn’t time to send it back and order something else. Service poor. Waiter checked on us before we started eating and only on my companion when we were done. He avoided even looking at me. Perhaps he’d had too many complaints already on this dish.

Brilliant

By fowler23 |

Brilliant decor, staff were really friendly, great hidden spot in plain sight of grand central station. Nice food, good atmosphere

Afternoon Refresh!

By Rachael T |

What a great quintessential cafe/bar next to Grand Central NY. It’s table service with plenty of choices of drinks, pastries etc…

Breakfast with a smile

By Paul L |

On our last day in NYC we went here for breakfast. Sat outside on the terrace just across 42nd Street from Grand Central Great food and service with a smile Highly recommended

Great breakfast

By kenrob999 |

Had breakfast here as only a few mins walk from hotel. Probably one of the best breakfasts we had during our stay, wasn’t particularly cheap, but was really nice. Restaurant kind of split in two, if you only want coffee and pastry you are seated at the front but if getting a ‘bigger’ breakfast you are put towards the back half which does have a more open feel as front half under the road. Though if only grabbing pastry and a drink don’t think this should cause anyone any issues at all as it was still nice.

Very nice

By LoveTravel640194 |

Our waiter was very nice , the place was nice and our drinks were good. Very good family experience!

Definetly try this place 👌

By Madgebrand |

This restaurant was absolutely stunning and I would definitely go back. There is also a cafe at the front - both parts were very busy and popular. We were in the cafe and didn’t have food but the drinks were tasty and the service was excellent and very friendly. Thanks for having us!

tasty, convenient

By scbeaches |

tasty (enjoyed the veggie tortilla soup) and comfortable. not rushed but also we weren't there at peak time. across from grand central.

No dinner in the Big Apple n

By Peter M |

This restaurant is supposed to close at 2200. We arrived at 2045 and they had already stopped dinner service. Not impressive.

Decent food, questionable service

By GuyoftheGlobe |

With a convenient location across from the 42nd St. entrance to Grand Central Station, and having both indoor and outdoor dining spaces, this should be an exceptional restaurant. We had a number of dishes, including an excellent tuna appetizer and the famous chicken pot pie. For some reason we had four different servers and nobody seemed to be looking after us properly . We had to ask a number of times for simple things such as side plate and condiments. The manager came to check on us the end of our meal and said the mixups were due to mechanical and staffing issues. There was no apology. Again, the food is good , and hopefully service will improve for individuals visiting in the future. I likely will not return.

Nice cafe

By Sylvia S |

Nice café in a great location and with a nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff. However, in my opinion, the prices are outrageous - we paid $25 for 2 cappuccinos and 2 croissants.

A bad taste in my mouth.

By Stephen P |

After a pleasant enough breakfast I was presented with a bill that had a 20% gratuity added to it. Although unusual, I was fine with the tip and gave my credit card to pay. I was then presented with a bill for the full amount and the request for a further gratuity on top of the previous bill. I am very familiar with the tipping culture in the US and have no particular problem with it. However the automatic addition of a gratuity followed by the possibility of a gratuity on top of that again is ridiculous. It is disingenuous at best and at worst it borders on a scam. Given that this is in a popular tourist location I have taken the time to write this so others will be aware. Will not be back.

If you are sober; don’t visit / Only visit if you are an alcoholic

By fj |

Visited this afternoon for drinks only and was pointed to a table to sit to as only a handful were actually in use, chose to come here as it was quiet looking and had space to sit outside. Upon sitting down Sydnie provided us one menu between all four of us. We ordered 3x Cola & a lemonade only to be told we had to move inside if we weren’t drinking alcohol and as a result we ordered a beer for the table so we could sit outside with a slight breeze. Sure this was a ploy for them to be able to charge $30+ for 5 drinks. Service was non existent too. Would recommend buying a can of soda from a street vendor instead.

Excellent breakfast

By HClaire68 |

Had the most perfect breakfast. I had the smoked salmon bagel which was a very good portion and nicely presented, My daughter had bacon and eggs which too was excellent. Staff could have been a bit friendlier but other than that no complaints.

Treat yourself to a delicious brunch at Pershing Square!

By JillCull |

We met at Grand Central Saturday morning at 10:00. How lucky were we to get a fantastic table ? Our family was coming in all directions..by train and by subway. We had Googled “best places for lunch/ brunch near Grand Central Station” and Pershing Square was at the top of the list. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. There is something for everyone on their menu and the coffee choices were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the Waffles, Egg sandwiches, Pancakes, French Toast, and the delicious salads. It’s a great stop for a family meal on your way in or out of the city.

Perching Square

By Plamena Z |

Amazing breakfast, especially the French Toast. The only negative part is that the staff is quite in polite, other than that all good. Quite pricey as well.

If you leave it behind, it's mine!

I had been here for breakfast a couple of times after business meetings in the area and it was just OK. Not terrible but not great either. This is a touristic location and you should come with low expectations. On Saturday 5/13, as we walked by after buying a charger at the Apple store in Grand Central, we decided to have drinks at the terrace before heading home for dinner. My vodka martini was room temperature (both the glass and drink) so I had to ask for ice. The waitress brought it promptly but never asked if there was a problem with my drink. Again, low expectations and they stayed low... And that's fine because I knew where I was. What I find unacceptable is that I left the Apple store bag on the table. It had a charger and its cable (paid like $41 for it) and realized that I left it there while having dinner at home, so I thought, no big deal.. I'll swing by tomorrow to recover it. Well... that was not the case. I went there in the morning, and the Manager, Corrina, looked everywhere and could not find it. I went again in the afternoon and the hostess told me that probably someone else (I guess she meant a customer) took it. I guess that the mediocrity of their food, drinks and service, also extends to how they deal with the items that don't belong to them. And... I'M NOT GOING BACK EVER!

Tasty Food

By Kavita B |

Excellent spot for food. Attentive waiter and food was delicious. They even stored our luggage for us while we wait. My only gripe is that there is no WIFI. We sat down to plan our journey whilst we ate but could not use our maps to plan the day. The other gripe is that they do not accept Apple Pay, revolut or any contact less type of payment! In this day and age, it is very outdated.

Great venue, great food

By Lisa M |

We found this place on New years Day whilst looking for somewhere to eat breakfast after a big night before! This is a great venue, very traditional, great food, efficient service and friendly staff. Great for breakfast/brunch with great ambience, and we will definitely visit again when we are in town

Breakfast

By Ben M |

Heard about this place before our trip to NYC whilst looking for recommendations of places to go, wasn’t sure where it was but stumbled upon it when we went to see Grand Central Terminal. We ended up visiting twice for Breakfast and wow, what a breakfast this place serves! I had pancakes with choc chips both times, my wife had eggs anyway with bacon and extra sausage the first time and French toast the second time, all really nice and worth the price we paid in our opinion. Staff were really nice and we didn’t have to wait to be seated. One thing to note is that they take card payments using your card’s magstripe and this is disabled on our cards by default, so we had to enable this on our banking app to allow them to take money from our card, but this was the only hiccup and not their fault, just wanted to put a note about it to help others that might be in a similar situation in future.

Sunday brunch

By chr888 |

Great Sunday lunch from the brunch menu. Very prompt service despite being quite busy and it was a good steak and eggs. Definitely worth going to for an informal meal.

Good ambience, should do better on the menu and refills for the amount they charge.

By Steve |

Brunch menu served until 4. I had the Eggs Benedict with a hot coffee, my wife a Cobb salad with iced tea. Restaurant has good ambience. . The food was of mediocre quality and quite expensive for what it is ($25 for two eggs over easy on a muffin with some homestyle potatoes that probably came from a feezer bag. I should have had the Omlette and saved a gew bucks. Also was suprised to learn no refill on the [mediocre] coffee ($5) except Breakfast (what do they think the B in Brunch stands for?). I would think allowing refill would be reasnable. Service was infrequent. No napkins were provided. Had to ask for everything, except the water.

A perfect dining experience!

By Richard Weeks |

Popped-in here without any plan, it being next to Grand Central Station, which we were admiring. Had breakfast. Wonderful, from start to finish! Most accommodating staff, and large portions of perfectly-prepared food. The coffee was a revelation: this is the flavour and strength I'd been searching for throughout my life!

Was ok - but in NY that’s not great

By Odisco |

There are good things - the set up and decor is lovely and the toilets were clean, good location for the station and Summit one. It was mostly empty on a Wednesday night & the service was all over the place - one minute we couldn’t find anyone, the next we had three people in as many minutes. Portions were small for the price - the avocado salad was just an avocado with dressed microgreens and nothing else for >$20. Overall for a family of 4 we spent 20-25% more here than anywhere else we’ve been, without alcohol. It was OK.

Lovely place to chill

By James |

Great location opposite Grand Central. Love sitting at the bar and chatted to the bar staff. Decent food as well if you’re hungry.

Excellent dinner at Pershing Square

By J R |

Outstanding experience. Dinner was excellent. Service was very good. Wait staff experienced and very capable. Temperature was a bit warm, but understandable considering the past few days’ heat.

Could be more filling

By Elsa C. L. |

Centrally located & convenient. Nice atmosphere indoors & outdoors with yellow umbrellas. We would have enjoyed our lunch better had we been given booth seating. Food was served promptly, fresh, tasted good and with nice presentation; however, the portion is not as filling. My Chicken Paillard could have a had more cherry tomatoes and arugula. Our lovely order taker was attentive.

The perfect New York breakfast

By Kay |

I ordered the garden omelette and it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I sat opposite the window watching people exit and enter grand central station and yellow taxis speeding past… it was the perfect New York experience. And last but not least, the charismatic manager (maybe owner) who charmed everyone and welcomed them in with what I can only call “New York” energy! My only complaint is that the Orange juice was $9.50 and not worth a cent of that.

Breakfast at Dinner

By Suss J |

Wanted to experience an American Dinner and I think we got that and the breakfast was very good. Had a nice waiter who turned out to have lived in Sweden many years ago.

Breakfast brilliance

By Travelozzy |

Although it looks basic from the outside, this restaurant has a beautiful interior. Service was excellent and the food was delicious and plentiful without being ridiculously large. Highly recommend the Belgian waffles with berries, they’re fresh and not those awful syrup ones, so just perfect!

excellent welcome

By Julien L |

Super nice waiter. Nice place in front of the station. Very good lemonade. Clean toilet. located under a bridge. cozy and original atmosphere

Abysmal, RUDE customer service

By Aquarius76 |

I last reviewed this place 3 years ago - where I rated it 1 star and I haven’t returned since - until today! I decided to give it another chance but nothing has changed in terms of their customer service. I was told I was not allowed to sit with my teenage daughter in the main restaurant section as I only wanted coffee - my daughter wanted the French toast breakfast. So basically unless both people order a full menu breakfast each you aren’t welcome! The overall attitude of the host was disgusting she made us feel unwelcome from the second she laid eyes on us, I got the impression she felt we should be so grateful to her for allowing us to enter and potentially spend $50 on breakfast!! This place needs to sort itself out - I won’t be back, that’s twice I’ve had had my morning ruined by Pershing square! Train your staff in general etiquette!!

Proper American breakfast

By Anna FB |

We have had breakfast twice during our stay, we are equally satisfied both times. Good food and nice service. Ample portions so you can stand for a long time at breakfast. Nice environment too. Really recommended.

Fab breakfast

By Wardie23 |

Our first visit to NYC and this packed was recommended. It didn’t disappoint. I booked online for breakfast but inky just before we arrived . All of the staff were very attentive, atmosphere was great with lots of business breakfast meetings going on around us. Food was gorgeous, fully recommend the omelette, great coffee. Would visit again in a heartbeat

Disappointing

By Vicqui99 |

We visited for dinner on Sunday evening as we were passing. Got a table straight away which was great but the service was terrible. The waiter we had couldn't have been less interested. The food was not great at all and we were not asked if everything was OK. We sent part of my husbands meal back as it was cold. It was changed quickly but still no one came over to ask if all OK. We were not offered more drinks and had to ask three times for the bill. We paid and left and not one member of staff said goodbye. We will not be returning for breakfast as planned.

Lunch at famous Pershing Square Restaurant

By delfinacuario2000 |

Looking for a place to have lunch close to Grand Central, found this amazing place, upon entering they asked us if we had reservation which we didn´t so they offered a table at the front area, which is more coffee / bar style than restaurant but we did not mind. The back area, more restaurant style was full when we arrived, which gives an idea that the place is good. I had a great chicken sandwich and did not regret at all choosing this place. Hope to come back next time in NY!

Amazing food and service! Did not disappoint, French toast, fresh fruit salad, pancakes, farm fresh eggs any style!brill

By Gillster40 |

Amazing breakfast on both visits, no complaints at all! We’ve been here before but this was my first time back since 2021! Fantastic service, good atmosphere and open on Christmas Day and we’re seated quickly as a family of 6 we thought the food was great quality!

Best breakfast in Midtown

By victoriaew2017 |

This cafe/restaurant is the best. We had breakfast everyday during our vacation and once came for lunch. Food is outstanding service is fantastic and the queue goes down very quickly. Highly recommend 👌

Great Setting but poor food and a waiter who didn't want to be there !!

By CHRIS N |

If you want a great setting then this is the place. We had a lovely greeting after reserving a table for two for breakfast and were shown to a lovely booth. It then went downhill....Our waiter had the personality of a limp lettuce and it would have broken him to smile or even attempt to be helpful. He simply didn't want to be there. He did his job. The food was average; re-warmed lukewarm potatoes, under cooked "gloopy" poached eggs. Nobody asked about our meal, offered extras, refilled coffees etc. The clean up staff seemed obsessed with clearing plates even when I was still chewing.!! The Bill arrived without a mention and the waiter was then only interested in what tip he was left.....to be honest he simply didn't deserve one. This had the potential to be a lovely meal but sadly was our worst in NY. We wont be coming back and if you have a choice go elsewhere there are alot better options out there !!

Crappy Breakfast

By Marco Polo |

This restaurant was full so we thought it would be good. We were wrong. Worst meal of our trip . Both had the eggs toast bacon and homefries. The latter were soggy. There are much better places to eat, such as Madison and Vine, a block away...

Great breakfast

By Aburel |

Was curious for a long time to try this place. Nice location, romantics, nice service and great food. Actually one of the best avocado toasts I have had in many years. Pretty nice menu and great coffees. Nicely done.

Fabulous Breakfast

By DBP55 |

Got quickly seated even without a reservation. Fabulous dishes, mouthwatering presentations, satisfying portions. Clean washrooms, friendly staff, appealing decor. High chairs available. No Wifi but catch next door Starbuck's signal. Well worth coming back to.

Very very good but so espansive

By karlos11torino |

Perhaps the best pancakes ever eaten in NY but certainly the most expensive breakfast ever paid for. 83 dollars for 2 pancakes, 1 waffle and 1 coffee is a lot of money for me. Very courteous service

Better off elsewhere

By Richard J |

Went here for food after an appointment at the Apple Store in Grand Central. The vibe was off because the place was empty, but the lack of customer didn’t stop the service from being slow, or the food from being mediocre and expensive. Would have been better off just eating at the food court in the basement of Grand Central.

Quick lunch

By madda59 |

A nice place in front. the grand station. American cuisine well executed in sandwiches and salads. Pleasant tagliatelle spring. For one course per person, in four, around $150. Exorbitant tips raise the bill

Pretty good

By Samantha E |

We went for breakfast without a reservation. This place is much larger than it looked from the doors of Grand Central so no problem getting a table. Sadly, they do not offer any gluten free bread or toast options. Some 2019 reviews suggested that they used to. So I ordered the eggs with no toast. It was fine. I really didn’t need toast. My partner had the oatmeal which came up as a huge portion. Some orange, a tea and a coffee with service came in at $75. Pretty pricey but nice. Wouldn’t go every day but it was pretty nice, albeit not exceptional.

My favourite breakfast spot in NYC

By airbus346 |

My favourite breakfast spot in NYC. I’m an international airline pilot and have visited NYC over 350 times. Wherever I take family or friends away with me I always treat them to breakfast at Pershing Square, It’s not just the excellent food and unique decor, but the hospitality of the staff is serving to none. We sat at the Owners table this morning and our waiter was John. His level of service was exceptional. Thank you once again Pershing Square for making a special family breakfast even miter special.

Fantastic breakfast

By SLD |

I had the perfect breakfast here - great options on the menu and brilliant service. Great location as well. Will come back!

Best pancakes of my life

By Andrea A |

We had two breakfasts in this wonderful place really close to Grand Central station. The location is amazing, service is very nice but you will want to go there for the pancakes. My girlfriend suggest the banana pancakes (sweeter), I suggest the blueberry ones.

Lousy customer attention.

By Vijay1967 |

This place used to be fantastic, now it's about bad service and no customer attention. We arrive at 11.40 AM. There is a large lighted sign at the entrance saying "breakfast central". We ask for breakfast, the answer is : "Breakfast finishes at 11.45 AM, the kitchen would not have time to prepare your order in 5mn. This is our lunch card". We obviouly left immediately and the manager tells us laughing :" come back earlier tomorrow!".

Tasty and pleasant lunch

By JesseandCrystal |

My husband and I were recommended this restaurant from a friend who lives in Manhattan. We rode the Long Island Rail road straight to Grand Central and this is right across from Grand Central. We were seated right away (no reservation) and I had the pot pie while he had the lobster roll. Service and food were excellent!

Yummy Large Breakfast

By JR_Andover |

We decided to come for breakfast, after walk8 g last the previous days and seeing a queue (at 0830). We arrived not long after opening and were met by a server and seated swiftly. Thankfully we got in ahead of the rush! We both ordered the French Toast with a side of Home Fries an OJ & a coffee. Not only am I glad we arrived early, but glad we came in. Breakfast arrived without too much arrived ice and warm. The French toast, was the best I have ever had, the h9me fires were lovely, having never tried them before, can’t compare them . The portions were large, so arrive hungry and be prepared to leave full. The other food we saw being served also looked look nice, but we didn’t have menu envy. We would go back again, ideal for couples, families or even business meetings given it’s location!

Average

By Kareelas |

Average food. Too expensive for what it is. Otherwise servers are very nice and professional. There was space for a regular evening during the week and no reservations were needed.

Then of this breakfast you dont need more for the rest of your day

By le grand inspector |

Just meters crossing 42 from Grand Central its Pershing Square, with red and with square tablecloths, tiny lamps, woods and lights remembering a past time and: still besides the years of permanence for me the best place to breakfast in New York!!!!. And even though that the managers like to ruin in my opinion a gold mine. Trust me that been more than 30 times in the big apple, doing business, travel with friends, couple or solo always have time to visit and i can tell some friends at the service. Several years ago maybe a line of 200 people or more waited outside with temperatures below zero just to taste delicious meals very well serve. For the owner: get back the politics of the past 3 years; because your managers are scaring loyal customers. For the customers: try eggs royale (the best benedicts eggs with smoke salmon in the earth) but ask them with potato not the renovated plate that's served with green instead potato's.

Highly recommend

By LISA S |

Fabulous food. Nicest we had during our trip to NYC. We had onion soup and Duck Risotto. So tasty. Lovely ambience and welcoming staff

Too expensive

By Simo |

Too expensive for what I eat. 24 $ for four pancake. 10 for a cappuccino. But high quality. Very kind people who serve at the table. Very small choice of menu.

Lovely New Years Day brunch

By Crawley77 |

One of the few restaurants we found in NYC where the server understood food allergies and made good suggestions to help. We both had steak and eggs and shared an extra side of bacon - it was all cooked to perfection and couldn’t fault the service.

Superb all round

By Paul R |

Went for breakfast and the food was excellent and good value for this area of the city. Loved the look and atmosphere of the restaurant and topped by the helpful and friendly staff. So good we went back a couple of days later for another breakfast.

Great Breakfast.

By Anthony 2019 |

Great breafast. Nice service, a little pricey. $90 for 2 no alcohol, no cocktails, 2 cappuccino. Overall good experience.

Very attentive service, decent food, interesting and attractive interior design

By synToronto |

Located across from Grand Central and built into and under some type of overpass, the restaurant itself has an attractive retro design that is visually interesting and feels like an inviting space on a personal level despite its size. The back portion features a combination of medium brown woods, burgundy leather seats with rivet accents, raised booths on the side and assorted table sizers below, it’s a comfortable space that did not feel crowded. The front space is more casual seating - maybe for a quick bite. Service: Very good service. Everyone supports your waiter with water or coffee refills, clearing plates etc. Food: Average stuff. All good but not a standout. Presentation was attractive. Price: Reasonable based on where you are. 5 persons or more is an automatic gratuity. Overall: A good service experience with decent food.

Very very overpriced for less than average food

By Angelo M |

I had breakfast, and then an early dinner on the same day. Even with out tea and coffee.. and no alcohol with dinner i paid around $72. The fried eggs were undercooked and sloppy. The butter is like a watery cream, the jam or jelly..is a fruit compote.. like mashed straberries? Weird..then for dinner i had a burger that was quite revolting. The fries were nice and crispy as per the description. There was some limp lettuce and tomatoe that I was too afraid to eat. The burger was so over cooked and the pickle tasted odd. I overheard the other table aqy their steak was chewy. I think this place is living off past reputations. I would avoid. So overpriced it's almost criminal for the standard of the food and service. Pay a little more and go to a better establishment.

A real restaurant in New York where you are not pushed out as soon as your plate is finished! Great experience

By Eric ( Breizh 56 ) Morbihan |

Great experience in the center of New York, it is far from fast food and junk American. Very friendly and dynamic staff, with little care, the quality of the dishes served is worth the beauty of the place.

Nice terrace next to the central station

By Javier A |

We left to visit the central station and found this restaurant that had a picturesque terrace. We stood at one end because there was a DJ playing in front of us at a brutal volume. We ordered 3 burgers and a tortilla sandwich. Some hamburgers were a little soggy, the rest was good. Correct and friendly service. Expensive prices like everything in the area.

Christmas Day

By KirstyBryce |

Visited on Christmas Day for brunch as a walk in and had a great experience. Mimosas were great, pancakes and waffles were really tasty and the staff were fab. Brilliant place!

Best of New York!

By Charlie L |

Back after five years and still found this place great. Came twice for breakfast and once for dinner in a week. Service is great, best to book if you can, to get the better seats (ask for a booth or to be in the main dining area.) If you turn up without a booking you may have to wait at busy times and may not be in the main restaurant. Servers are very professional and friendly, food is excellent. It's a great spot for people watching in the week as clearly a lot of business people/professionals meet here for breakfast or brunch.

Happy Hour and dinner next to Grand Central

By Txapurcio |

The place is the typical New York place that we see in movies and series, we liked it a lot. You can have a quiet drink in the front or go to dinner at the back. In any case, we went three times and always enjoyed it. The dinner was good, a bit expensive (it goes with the city), and they served us very well and quickly. I seem to remember that it closes quite early, yes.

Best American Breakfast in NY

By Justin B |

If you fancy an exceptional American Breakfast it’s the place to go, we visited 18 years ago and was super impressed then we are just as impressed on our visit today! Undoubtedly the best breakfast we have ever had in NY!

Go for the vibes, food is fine

By Alexandra P |

We, like many, found this spot when arriving at Grand Central. It is absolutely adorable, and the decor inside mimics the structure under the bridge. The service was very good and the ambience fantastic. My only criticism is that the food was just ok. The menu was limited, which is fine, but there didn’t seem to be very much originality in the offerings. We split french toast and an omelette which came with toast and home fries. The food not bad and not great. Breakfast is my favorite meal to dine out and this one was just alright. I’m glad we visited because it truly is so cute and I would have stayed curious but I likely won’t return as there are much better breakfasts for lower prices in the city.

Disappointing lunch

By Leslie Z |

First, let me say that the atmosphere and service was very good, but the food was disappointing. My hamburger was very thin for the price and seemed premade. Plus, the other people in my group said that their food was not hot.

Great place for genuine NY breakfast diner experience.

By Summerloverfromuk |

If you want a genuine NY diner with a real buzz about the place, then this is for you! We had breakfast several times while staying nearby and had great experiences every time. Staff were attentive, the food was great - and plentiful - and we thought it offered great value. It does get busy so either go early or be prepared to wait for a short time for a table. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect for lunch & breakfast

By Jade |

Stunning ! We visited here recently for lunch, and returned the following day for breakfast. Amazingly tasting food, great service & lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning

Nothin Special

By Chris_SA1709VF |

120dollars for 3 breakfasts abit overpriced to say the least and didn’t offer a coffee refill which is an American institution

Awful. Don’t go !

By DKCO |

We were recommended this restaurant for dinner by friends who had been about ten years ago. We wish now we had read recent reviews. This is just a tourist trap. Awful service, average food at best and having had two emails and texts prior to our booking , we should have realised that it’s all about numbers for this place. They forgot the starter of French onion soup and served the main courses , then asked if we wanted the soup after the mains 🤷‍♂️. Did not have two of the eight or so white wines in stock , served the wrong beer and did not have the New York strip steak ….. in New York !!! Waiter whilst pleasant plainly had his mind on other things and was completely ineffective.

Nice place

By stuart w |

Nice find right across from Grand Central Terminal station. Warm and friendly welcome, comfortable table and food was nice and has a good atmosphere

Try somewhere else

By Leisa |

The friendliest service we received was from the lady that was busing the table. The waiter was unfriendly and seemed in a hurry. Maybe he had too many tables (?) The food was average tasting and overpriced.

2 breakfast visits

By Karn O |

Went here twice during our 5 day stay, both times for breakfast. Food is lovely and nice atmosphere. Limited choices for vegans but everyone enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend the waffles.

Disgusting tourist trap

By delphi927 |

Met a friend at Pershing Square for dinner, solely based on convenience/proximity to Grand Central. As NYers, neither of us had high hopes, but we didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was. Service was unfriendly and apathetic, the wine was terrible, and the food was absolutely awful. Overpriced (unsurprisingly), poor service, and inedible food - don’t do it.

great menu , look for the waffles with fruit

By ak2910 |

right outside grand central , could be forgiven for thinking it’s a tourist trap but no it’s business people , families and a few tourists . nice varied breakfast menu and lovely attentive staff , highly recommend the waffles and fresh OJ only downside is cost , an expensive breakfast and a trip treat rather than every day

Poor value for money

By Lucy B |

It was really hot when we visited the city so opted to eat inside. We were taken to a booth at the back of the restaurant that was well away from other diners and it was as hot there as it was outside. I was sweating. I thought the AC must not have been working but when we left, we walked through the restaurant and the AC was working well elsewhere. The food was average, not bad but not great either. However the price tag was eye watering. Service was friendly but slow. They stuck on a 20% tip for a family of 5 (nowhere else did this for a party of 5), then left the tip box free on the credit card receipt. There was no mention of the tip already being included, although other places pointed it out when we were a party of 8 later in the trip. Fortunatley we spotted it because the bill was massive for a one course breakfast. Would not recommend, I'm afraid.

Want customers? Replace hostess!

By FlorinaNewYork |

Trying to have dinner at Pershing Square Restaurant it's a difficult endeavor! 3 outside empty tables, not reserved, the hostess tells us that the waiters are busy and cannot take care of so many tables at once and we should come back in 20 minutes...so we thought to sit down, have a drink and wait for an available waiter. But no, the hostess is against us having a drink outside...she will do us "a favor" inside... Do they know at Pershing Square Restaurant that in Manhattan there are other options?! Or maybe they just don't need customers.

A gem of a place

By Andres72423 |

We arrived early at the train station for our train so we decided to look for a spot to grab a bite to eat. What a gem of a place. We had a wonderful meal and was able to sit and catch our breath after a long day of walking. It was perfect. The restaurant was dimly lit, very romantic and the food was delicious. I had the NY strip with a serving of veggies, it was cooked perfectly. The veggies were delicious, seasoned and cooked well. My girlfriend was in the mood for a burger and she really enjoyed it. The burger came with Gruyère cheese, bacon, avocado and some aioli sauce. Our server was excellent, perfectly attentive and took care of all our needs. I highly recommend this spot.

We love Pershing Square for breakfast!

By BJ_McBluenose |

Having been to NYC before, we headed back to Pershing Square for breakfast on two mornings. First day we didn't have a reservation, but the maitre d got us seated very quickly. Our server Edmundo was great. Friendly and knowledgeable, he gave us help on using the Subway, much appreciated! The food as usual was great, all freshly cooked and piping hot. We asked about booking for the next morning, and the maitre d told us how to book online, which was really easy. Walked in, maitre d remembered us, and seated straight away. Marco our server this time, again friendly, efficient and attentive. Food every bit as good as our last visit. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in NYC, it's right opposite Grand Central Terminal. We'll be back on our next trip!

Interesting

By Paul C |

Service lacks but food looks good. Premier league soccer on TVs so that's a bonus! Service quite quick and it smells good

An absolute treasure

By Pauline Garnett |

Brilliant place for breakfast Lots of traditional NY breakfast options including corned beef hash Lunch and dinner all served. Right outside Grand Central station Good service and reasonable prices for generous portions

Excellent restaurant option

By Bartira B |

Restaurant with very good food and extremely educated waiters and willing to understand the tourist. I recommend for those who want light food.

GCT meetings, anyone?

By Ennio R |

My second favorite work/dine space in the area, first one being the Rose Reading Room at the Public Library, so it does not really qualify! Manager Bruce is the best host, and he manages to make everything happen smoothly around you and your guests, despite the endless busyness of the place. Food is great, and service prompt.

Beware these dishonest cheats!

By Excursion599192 |

ARROGANT DISHONEST THIEVES. Check you bill VERY carefully before leaving. They overcharged me $10 (plus tax & tip). I noticed it when I got home, I called and e-mailed multiple times with details about the overcharge, but never even received a response.

Excellent all round - first visit and will be back!

By PlanesTrainsAutos09 |

Had a most wonderful American brunch experience here and will, most certainly, be back again in the future. Although there was a long queue when we arrived it cleared very quickly. The restaurant itself, decor, atmosphere, surroundings, food, staff, service - all excellent. Wish we had discovered this earlier in our trip, we would certainly have visited more than one. Again, with this restaurant, like all we dined in throughout our stay, coeliacs do not seem to be well catered for in US. That said, the member of our group who is coeliac was looked after. Thank you to all - see you again soon - hopefully!

Epic pancakes!

By Paul C |

Visited on a business trip in Jan 23. Super friendly staff serving good food in an iconic location. Pancakes were particularly good!

Delicious and Cozy.

By Xavier A |

Great place!, very cozy and beautifully decorated. The General Manager, hosts and waiter were extremely polite.

Great breakfast spot

By SHoop |

We were staying close to the Pershing Square and visited twice for breakfast. We all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. We had a mix of french toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, Omelette, eggs benedict and we all enjoyed it. Also if you are travelling from the UK and are in dire need of a cup of tea - great cuppa from here and one of the party said the coffee was great too :) The staff were lovely, attentive (but not in your face) and service was quick. A great way to start the day.

Bad

By Jariel V |

Friend threw up after one bite of foo and manager wouldn’t take meal off the bill over priced and was sat in section of restaurant with mediocre atmosphere

To do!

By Bbear34 |

A superb place, atypical, Service smiling and quality. I tested their signature chicken pie dish, very good! The place is also quiet, pleasantly lit.

Wow! Fabulous breakfast

By Jenny G |

This restaurant is lovely, it has a good menu and the service was great. The home made granola is delicious and was the fruit plate. The portions are large.

Book online or accept a poor table!

By Aquarius76 |

Arrived for breakfast and requested a booth at the window as there were several vacant ones. The waiter explained I could not have a booth unless I pre booked online. I had to accept a crowded middle table and was disappointed that many booths remained completely empty throughout my time at the restaurant. I also checked online and realised I could have booked then and there and requested a booth as they had availability. Poor service as there was no reason why I couldn’t have had a booth. The breakfast was average it took a long time to get the waiters attention for coffee refills and the check. They don’t prioritise customer happiness!

Excellent breakfast at a reasonable price

By Manuela B |

Restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a pleasant climate and decor. The breakfast menu is excellent, the pancakes and granola with yogurt are delicious. A little expensive compared to other restaurants.

Great breakfast

By Geoff C |

This is a very popular place with both tourists and locals. All the breakfast options were good but it’s the pancakes that are the stand out. Portions are generous. Service was friendly and attentive. Get there early. We got there just after it opened and, though it’s a big place, it filled up quickly.

Great service and great food!

Eleazar and the staff at Pershing Square are the best! Eleazar arranged for a dessert for our granddaughter while the staff sang “Happy Birthday” to her. We live in Florida and couldn't be there with her but he helped us feel like we were. Thank you for such great service!

A fabulous place for breakfast

Rude staff member

We were greeted by a friendly host at the door and shown to our table, the waiter came over within a minute and sorted some drinks. After looking at the menu we decided we were going to just stay for a coffee and continue with our day. After informing the waiter, he very rudely said well “you can go to the coffee area then” after then asking why he said “this is for food” and then literally walked off without us knowing where to go and having to carry a hot tea pot. We wouldn’t have minded this at all if told before or if he was polite. We then stood up and we’re awkwardly stood whilst having no idea where we should be going, whilst holding the boiling hot tea pot which actually burnt my finger. Wouldn’t recommended, was a nice coffee but the waiter ruined it.

Two dinners with friends

We stayed at Pershing Square twice as part of a trip with friends. Che idre, the food, the welcome, the attention to detail are just some of the strong points of this place. Also recommended for families, Reservation is suggested (even for after-hours meals, it is often very crowded and required).

We want to return and try more of what they have to offer

We were at Grand Central and this was just across the street and it was time for a drink. So we called in here, knowing nothing about it but now wished we had planned it better. We were greeted by the maitre d' and explained we only wanted a drink and were shown to a table near the window. The service was excellent and despite only wanting a hot drink and cake, we didn't feel we were treated any differently or given any less attention. China teapots, great service and delicious cakes made us wish we had been here for lunch or (what we now know to be) their famous pancakes. The food and pancakes looked delicious and we will certainly return to try the pancakes and/or lunch. The appearance and feel of the restaurant belies it's relatively modern start and it is certainly somewhere we will return to.

1 Star – A Total Tourist Trap Disguised as a NYC Staple

Pershing Square was hands down the worst dining experience we had in New York. From the moment we sat down, the service was chaotic and disorganized — we had no idea who our server even was. Multiple people came by at random, none of them helpful, and no one seemed remotely interested in ensuring a decent experience. Then came the real shock: a $35 charge for a double tall rail with Sprite — a drink that would be $12 anywhere else. That alone set the tone for a wildly overpriced meal, where our total bill ended up being 25% higher than what we paid at a high-end steakhouse restaurant the night before. To add insult to injury, they automatically include gratuity for parties of just five or more, which in this case felt like a tactic to cover for poor service. Make no mistake: this place exists to prey on people who don’t know better. It’s a textbook example of inflated pricing, indifferent service, and a business model built around foot traffic rather than quality or hospitality. Avoid at all costs — there are hundreds of better places in the city.

Delicious and Quick!

Stopped in right before lunch after a tour of Grand Central, ordered the potato gnocchi, and French onion soup, both of which were excellent. The food was piping hot and very quick! Our server was personable and engaged. Overall, our first visit to Pershing Sq, but we’ll be back. Only wish there were some California Zinfandel’s on the wine list.

Walked in off the street in the pissing rain and welcomed by extremely friendly staff. No reservation no problem, just don’t ask for a booth. Latte was good, not extraordinary, maybe it’s the American cows. But the salmon Benedict was as described, salty, succulent with just the right amount of oiliness to but through the lemony hollandaise. Eggs perfect, of course as was the muffin. Service impeccable I just hope the staff are recognised for it. A healthy tip was made and 2 satisfied customers walked back down Park Ave, wet and happy.

No service.

The guides were rude, the servers changed twice, and the other people didn't get the bread we received. :((((
