Cool atmosphere after work.

I saw the bar's sign from the 5th Ave coming back from the UN HQ on my way back to my hotel, and just couldn't resist an Irish Pub at this late time of the night for a quick bite. I was not disappointed and couldn't resist a Guinness. The staff are friendly, it was not a big crowd, but one could tell, most were regulars - this is generally a good sign in a big city. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent. I wish I had stopped earlier in my stay in NY, as I would have come back.

The best welcome ever!

Stumbled on this place on our last afternoon in New York and so glad we did. The bar girl Molly was fantastic, she made us so welcome, just a lovely Irish girl. She was so funny and nice, she introduced us to locals, recommended a great restaurant we were only in there about an hour but felt like we had known her all our life. Everyone in New York was fantastic service was exceptional everywhere we went, but Molly topped them all! We will definitely return to see her next year, she made our holiday. A great bar great drinks great atmosphere.

Reasonably Priced Drinks and Bring Your Own Food

My spouse and I visited Peter Dillon’s Pub for happy hour on a Sunday afternoon in mid-January 2016. The pub is open daily from 11:00 am until late. The original outlet of Peter Dillon’s is located on East 40th Street and Lexington Avenue. The Peter Dillon’s East 36th Street location opened in its Midtown West/Murray Hill neighborhood in 2013. It offers an Irish pub atmosphere. You must descend a few concrete steps from the sidewalk to access the bar, so it is not handicap-friendly. Numerous TVs broadcast sporting events, and sports memorabilia is displayed on the walls and in a glass case. The pub offers seating at the bar, or at tables and counters with stools (both high and low) on the opposite side of the room. The room is spacious, clean, and bright despite its slightly-below-street-level location. Peter Dillon’s offers draft and bottled beers, wine, and cocktails. Regrettably, the pub does not serve food (we were looking for a bite to eat to accompany our drinks), but you are welcome to bring your own. Happy hour specials are available on weekdays. Peter Dillon’s fit our drinking needs, but we still needed to stop elsewhere for a snack.

Evening meal

By Lorraine P |

Went for dinner here ,thought we would start with French onion soup, this was reasonable, we were about half way through the soup when they brought our main meal,I should have asked them to take it back, instead we left the soup and had our main meal.We should have stuck to the soup,as it tasted better than the meal

Great yet again

Returned to this place to see Molly but it was her day off! Gutted! Apart from the absence of Molly pleased to say this bar is still fab, great service, nice beer, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended !

Great decor

An impressive pub that has loads to admire in the decor and has a beautiful and historic vibe. Unfortunately the staff weren’t the friendliest on the evening I visited but there’s plenty of seating and TV screens throughout. For a more unique setting I’d recommend.

Hidden away treasure

Loved this place. Low key pub with amazing service. Since this place doesn’t have food, we had food delivered. The bartender, John, was amazing and so personable. Will definitely go back on our next trip.

Basic Manhattan Irish bar

By Billfr0mSc0tland |

Had a pleasant enough drink in here, but when I was in little or no atmosphere, drinks about normal for Manhattan (expensive). It's an Irish bar so you get what you expect.

My local in NY -Quality Staff, great atmosphere

By JamzyW |

I've been to NY 5 times now & this pub has become my local when in town. The staff, especially Sean, is a top guy. friendly to everyone and helpful too. Prices are reasonable for centre of midtown, and the atmosphere in here is great, there music nights are amazing too.

Great Pub

By Adrienne_sail |

What a great welcoming pub, was staying nearby and found it early in the trip and returned due to the hospitality and warm efficient service, cosy friendly fun environment to stop and have an ale in busy NYC 36th street. It is a few dollars cheaper per pint than surrounding bars. Lots of US and UK sports and the home of NY supporters of Toon army! Visit - it’s worth it.

Love the bar and beer

The bar is awesome. Nice setting, several TVs showing channels. The Guinness is so nice. The atmosphere with the right ambience, definitely a great place to drink and hang out with friends.

Great little find on 36th street and fifth.

We stopped by on a trip from the Empire State Building, on our way to dinner. Sean was great! Even served us some ‘Irish Champagne’ to celebrate! Cute place, cold beer.

Went into peter dillons for a drink before heading back to our hotel to get ready for a restaurant we had booked. 4 drinks later still in there had such a good time. Not sure the barman name was but top bloke rushed off his feet but still had time for a chat. Also thanks the drinks. Tracey and Paul from luton

Peter Dillons 36th is THE BEST!!!!

By Nina D |

What an amazing place! The bartender was brilliant and attentive and so much fun! We sat in the corner with our new friends who came to celebrate Adam (the bartender) because it was his birthday. We sang and laughed, and I will definitely go back the next time I am in NYC. I recommend this bar to anyone who wants a comfortable, reasonable, and FUN atmosphere to enjoy a pint.

Friendly bar always and a great place to watch Newcastle United games!

Friendly bar with great beer and a welcoming host. During the football (soccer) season this is the best place to watch Newcastle United games.

Great Irish Pub

By BabaluTheGood |

This is a quintessential Irish pub. They have a great happy hour and good music. They do not serve food, but are fine if you bring your own. We met people from all over the world here, as well as local New Yorkers. I would go back to Peter Dillon's.

Great all over

Fantastic service, very friendly and efficient, plus very cheap considering where it was in relation to Manhatten. Had 5 screens all showing different sports (seemed you could request to watch something specific) and hours are very diverse for any kind of person. Would return here if I ever came back to NYC.

Up for the Craic

Great pub, with a good selection of draught beers, live sports shown, including premiership games. Quaintly decorated, don't do food but you can take your own. The barmaid was very friendly and a laugh a minute too. Great way to spend a few hours, will defiantly go there again on our next visit to New York.

Fast service

And good beer selection, reasonably priced bar compared to what's around. Clean and unpretentious. Very friendly bartender and bar-back. Quiet if you want to have a conversation it's a great bar to be in

Great Newcastle/Irish Bar - Best in New York

By Pete C |

Came a few days early before the match to make sure "pub" was open early for the game. (I say pub because it feels more like and pub than a bar). Stayed for several beers as warm and welcoming as the local office people were finishing work, great atmosphere. Then came here for the Newcastle Utd game on the Sunday, Great place to watch it. Full of ex pats and local American "Toon Fans" place was bouncing, great atmosphere. Beer and Guinness is very very good, reasonably priced for NY and our hosts Sean and Ashleigh, (sorry if spelt wrong), where excellent warm and friendly. Game day or not it's a must visit for a few relaxing beers to rest the legs
