We met here with family visiting from Europe so were cautious in our choice of dining. 5 out of the 6 at the table cook and entertain actively, one had professional qualifications. Our food was different, delightful and matched the descriptions of the menu/ specials. The ambience is pleasant, and it's easy to have a conversation across a table of 6. Professional courteous and friendly staff who are clearly knowledgeable made for a comfortable evening. I would give 10 extra points for the fact that they did not have staff hovering to drop or collect check, we felt like genuine guests, and that is what hospitality is all about.

Met with friends, first time to this Restaurant. Did not know what to expect. Food was great, service impeccable, decor was beautiful and relaxing. Had a great time, recommend. Will definitely go again.

We had a really jerky server. I think he looked down on out of town visitors like us even though we are hardly tourists as we often visit family in the city. Aside from our server himself, we actually had timely and attentive service for delivery of food and filling water glasses. The wine list is impressive. I enjoyed the pear and gorgonzola salad to start. The lasagna looked a little simple but it actually was spot on with the ingredients. It was very tasty.

Had the Orecchiette with sweet sausage and broccoli which was delicious. Only had 4 scotches available but as an Italian restaurant I wouldn't hold it against them. Would recommend eating here price was appropriate

Hold the salt please, on the risotto. Last minute substitution was a disappointment (no shrimp), but service and ambience are real pluses. Appetizers and salads were great (beets). Noise level a bit high. Yes, we'll return.

Banal food, incompetent service, a kitchen that explains a 45 minute wait for food by having the waiting say "well, we are having a problem with our computer," which as an ex-waiter I can tell you is another way of saying, "We forgot to put in your order." An hour later after we asked for the check, the food came with no apology and total surprise that we rejected it. Still no apology from management. Will never return and will tell everyone I know to do the same

Checked into my hotel late and was starving so I walked around Tribeca looking for a place that looked inviting for a solo diner like me. This place had plenty of seating, but I eyed the nice bar that looked more comfortable for me to sit on my own. The staff was nice and inviting, the lighting low, but not dark and there was also some nice music playing. I had a very nice bartender who served my my meal of chicken parmigiana and a side of asparagus, along with a couple of glasses of an excellent Italian red wine from the Piedmont region. They have full bottles available, but also serve a wide variety by the quartino. The quality of ingredients was excellent, but the chicken was a little overcooked, so dry. I should point out that this is a very nice place and had a lot of interesting things on the menu. I don't want to give the impression by what I ordered that it's a meat and red sauce joint. Chicken parm is one of my childhood favorites and I haven't had it in twenty years, so I couldn't resist. I will definitely return to try other menu items.

Nice atmosphere though a bit cramped. Two notes: Carbonara good but extremely salty, they linguini were overcooked

great local.. superb wine at very air prices... great place for a light snack and a bottle after unwinding from a long flight.. If you are in Tribeca it is most definitely worth a visit!!

Very good casual Italian in Tribeca. We had a burrata w/Tomato app that was very good. Burrata is always good but this time of year tomatoes are rarely this good. Wife had tuna with a Penne. Very tasty and very fresh tuna. I had tuna steak seared with sesame seeds. Also was excellent. Service was good, owners are there all the time and they are really, really nice folks. Certainly will be back

First night in nyc following long flight staying in the roxy went to restaurant as was straight across the road for some pasta, was fairly quiet food was ok nothing great service was interesting !!

This is a block away from our office and it never fails to please. Amazing pasta, specials of the day, good wine list and fantastic service.

Looking for some authentic Italian while on a business trip in NY I was so happy I took a chance on Petrarca. The calamari was fresh, not at all greasy (as it so often is elsewhere!) and the marinara sauce with it was perfect. However, the amazing lasagne really took centre stage. It was really a true home style 'Mama's' recipe. I even have to admit that it beats my own which is tough to say!! I find it strange that someone else thought the waiters were rude as they were really nice to me, full of smiles, not at all pushy but very helpful. Definitely going back again.

sat outside for quick bite in tribeca - service and food were both above average - didn't go inside restaurant, but small patio was very nice

Absolutely fantastic dining experience. The most authentic lasagna I have had in the United States. The dessert was to die for. I cannot express what a great dining experience I had at this restaurant.

We were highly disappointed with the owner of this restaurant. Our table of 4 all ordered pre dinner cocktails, appetizers and main courses. My father in law ordered a nice bottle of red wine for dinner. The server, who was great all night, brought the wine and my father in law tasted it. He has had this wine before and he stated that it didn't taste right, but the owner came over and assured him once it opened, in 10 minutes it would be fine. More than that time, it hadn't opened up anymore and the owner pretty much laughed about it as my father in law said he didn't want to drink it but would pay for it. The owner took over half the bottle of wine away & still said it tasked fine, as my father in law ordered another bottle of something different. In the end, the owner still CHARGED my father in law the bottle he took away and had the bartenders drink while we sat there. We will not be going back there.

We had a nice dinner, in a beautiful and cozy restaurante. We eat pasta, and it was great ! Very wide wine options. We enjoy a lot!!! Very recommendable !!!

stopped in for beer and wine and had the brushetta and it was delicious.....had outdoor covered seating on the sidewalk it was great

Cucina e Vino was a delight. Very extensive wine list. Nice menu with very good choice of specials. Good service and atmosphere.

Had dinner there with a couple of friends and liked this place a lot. It is modern and simple and provides an impressive selection of wines which are displayed on the walls. I had a chicken caesar salad which was just perfect and reasonably priced at $14.00. We just had water, no wine so cannot comment on the latter. The service was good, not great although the couple of owners are watching in a not so pleasant manner as a matter of fact... [Not sure whether we picked the wrong night but the owner seemed to be constantly checking on waiters and putting them aside, which kind of made me feel uncomfortable.] Anyway I would go there again.

We made a reservation for a Friday evening for my wife's birthday with our teenagers and her sister and niece. Everyone was a bit tired and hungry when we arrived and we were seated right away. Our servers were very attentive and helpful with the menu. My normally picky kids thoroughly enjoyed the gnocchi and pizza while the adults sipped some great wine and ooh'ed and ahh'ed over the specials which were spectacular: a mushroom soup followed by a butternut squash ravioli w a sage butter sauce, a bolognese pappardelle w duck and a chicken dish my wife loved. Our service was top notch and the wine was on point as well and reasonably priced. In short, we had a great time and were able to sit, relax and enjoy ourselves for a couple of hours in NYC!

Made a reservation for my wife's Birthday with my 12 and 9 year old children whilst staying at the Sheraton Tribeca. The environment was extremely pleasant and the service excellent. Food was excellent quality and we certainly had no complaints. Extremely reasonable and somewhere we would definitely return.

No, you probably wont travel around town to get to Petrarca. But for a nice italian lunch with some italian wine its more than enough. The tuna tartar rocks.

The food is excellent. I had the cannelloni and my husband had the lasagna. The noodles were very light and homemade and not doughy. The only thing, everything is ala carte so no salad came with it. I had the homemade sangria which was very good.

We quite enjoyed this lively restaurant for a casual business lunch. The diners ranged from a group of 20 something’s celebrating a birthday to folks in the area for the art fair and gallery hopping. Between the three of us, we had five different dishes, all very good. The delicious Italian style bread was served with quality olive oil, the sign of a restaurant that cares. Give this a try.

Noticed this place from our hotel across the street. Stopped in for a few drinks and appetizers on a Thursday night. Sat at the bar and the bartender grunted at us and handed us a menu. Someone had a questions about their beer and it was a bother to answer. Didn't bother asking about food because we didn't want to stay. Too many great bars/restaurants in NYC to deal with the attitudes.

Came out of the Baths, on a sunny Sunday, hungry and in need of something good and close by. Thankfully the online menu looked ideal. After a 1 minute walk, we were seated inside at the perfect window corner table. The bread and olive oil were delicious! We both randomly selected the BLT which included an organic salad. Could not have had a more perfect lunch. Totally hit the spot! Will happily return after our next visit here. Kudos!

Visited on 17th with family. My 16yr old needs gluten free and they prepared a nice carbonara and gluten free pasta. Starters and mains were both full of flavour, and the mozzarella was excellent. All good!

I simply felt at home...(Italy) !! Spaghetti Carbonara were super tasty, must in NYC! Plenty of desserts to choose from! Owners are such nice people!

Our favorite trattoria closed, so we had to find another. This place is a great neighborhood restaurant. We've eaten here many times in the past year and we're always happy with the food, service and atmosphere. The salmon is great, as is the gnocchi. The wine list is terrific. Whether you're eating indoors, or out, this is the place to go.

We stumbled on this restaurant as it was close to our hotel.... and we are delighted we did. The meal we had was easily the best meal we had while in NY. From the minute the artisan table bread arrived, we knew that it was going to be a great quality tasty meal.... and can i just say, the tiramisu was bowl lickably good! Additionally, the staff were attentive and friendly but never intrusive.

This was our first night in New York and after a stroll around the Financial district we fell upon this place. It was very busy but they were able to squeeze us in. An extensive (and expensive) wine list - we opted for a very good Chilean wine which complement the rich main courses very well. Very salty sauces though. The waiters were obviously clamouring for the service charge which explains a lot. But overall a pleasant experience and I would make a repeat visit.

If you are studying Italian wines this is a great place to study. There is a huge wines by the glass list. We only ate salad and an app- but they were yummy and all the food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing and smelled even better.

This is a nicely designed restaurant in lower Manhattan that is worth the trip! Friendly servers, lots of sun pouring in, a fun Italian feel, and delicious food..... including Gluten Free options!

This place looked good and the reviews were good, so we gave it a try. First of all, the tables are so close together that the waiters bumped into me at least a dozen times as they walked by. When water was filled, the server leaned physically on me. I could deal with that if the food was ok. The pizza was very small but tasty. My chicken park was quite bad. It was oily and the oil tasted rancid. The pasta was strange tasting. My wife's pasta was fair. Overall, I would not return to this place - it was an uncomfortable evening with crappy food. There are 20,000 restaurants in Manhattan...try those first.

Fourth night in NY and I felt like i was eating dinner at my mother-in-laws back in Canberra, Australia! Loved the warm Italian bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette vinegar and my dish along with the other 3 my daughter and friends had were all superb! Highly recommend!

I was looking for a relaxed place to get dinner and drinks with a few friends that I hadn't seen in a while and Petrarca was the perfect spot. It was quiet, has a very attentive staff, adorable decor, an accessible location, is not pretentious, and has a nice wine list. I ordered the bolognese with homemade fettuccine and it was better than I expected. I finished my entire plate! The cheese platter was also delicious and served the perfect amount so that we weren't too full for our entrees. Finding a place like this in the City in the summer is sometimes hard after work because everyone is out and most places can get really loud and obnoxious. This was a great place to hang out, drink, get a good meal, and catch up with friends. I would definitely come back here again.

We were there twice this week. Both meals were superb. I had the pappardelle with pancetta -- homemade pasta and a delicate pink light sauce. Simply the best pasta I have ever had, here or in Italy. Accompanying the dish is their rustic crusty bread and an olive oil so light that its buttery smoothness was close to sinful. We ended the evening with a decadent plate of zabaglione with beautifully ripe berries. With a wine list of a dozen or more pages and flawless service, this venue is one not to be missed. Five stars both nights.

Ah, the fortuity of life smiled upon me! I stumbled on this small Italian restaurant during a recent trip to NYC for business and am both hugely glad I did, and looking forward to going back on purpose! This is a smallish place, wonderful decor, quiet atmosphere, and friendly and attentive staff. I was enjoying a New York moment just relishing the surroundings - and then the food came. Everything was delicious! I had a tomato and mozzarella with fresh and minty basil, a mixed greens salad with avocado and tomato (and I had saved some mozzarella to mix in) and the pasta carbonara. Each dish was one of the best I have had - lightly season, tantalizing with flavor, pasta just right..mmmm. I can still close my eyes and remember the meal and I start planning my return.

This Restaurant was very near our hotel. The pasta selection is fantastic. The Staff is extremely friendly and cordial We liked this Restaurant, and went back the second night. You may need reservations depending on the time and day for dinner.

Went here as a 'drop in' at last minute and what a fantastic meal we had. Celebrating 21st birthday with a group of 6. Fabulous, attentive and helpful service. Food was fantastic and zero complaints from anyone in our group. Suggestions were made by the wait staff and very informative and educated suggestions. Thanks Petrarca! Highly recommend this little gem!

We walked by a few times since it was really close to where we were staying and always saw cool people in the evening. On our last day in town we stepped in for late lunch and we did not regret. Perfect shrimp risotto, fresh home made (marvelous) Carbonara and rucola salad with Pecorino made our day, with honest rates and good service. I recommend for casual or low profile situations.

The pizza was amazing as was the tiramisu. Our waiter, Jose, was so great and recommended a wonderful wine which paired beautifully with my dinner. I'll be back!

We saw this restaurant in Tribeca during a walk in the neighbourhood. It seemed to be a nice address but… if we could give you one advice : do not stop there !!! Booking was easy on the website but it was the only thing which was good about this restaurant. The waiters are really rude, always wanting you to order the dish of the day. They insisted again and again ! It was a shame !! Off course, they were angry and no smile anymore after we finally said "NO" for the dish of the day. Prices are really too high for the quality of the food you get in your plate… The food is not fresh and the cookers are not italian at all ! The wine list is very (and too !) expensive. And obviously, the "cheapest" wines (60$ minimum…) are not available anymore when you want to order one of them… We decided to skip the desert and left just after the main course. The maximum service rate is added to your bill : you have no choice ! DO NOT COME INSIDE ! Go anywhere you want but not here !!

Someone who works in the area originally suggested that we try this restaurant. We were immediately taken. It's wine list is excellent and the food authentic. One of our favorite dishes is Vitello Tonnato. We had been having problems finding any restaurant in New York which could prepare this dish properly. They did and continue to do it wonderfully. The rest of the menu from listed items to daily specials are winners.

Walking down Chambers street at New York City's Tribeca area, we stopped at the Roxy Hotel. There at the entrance, a young couple was posing for pictures before the marriage ceremony. Looking right towards White Street, I have spotted an Italian restaurant, Petrarca, (A 14th century Italian poet and philosopher). We crossed the street into this tastefully decorated restaurant. The huge jars with pickled vegetables and rows after rows of Italalian wine bottles, promised an adventure. We were not diasppointed. The traditional bread sticks were served with olive oil at the side. The oil's smell was divine. I inhaled, closed my eyes, and imagined sitting at Alimentari Uffizi restaurant in Florence, after crossing the Ponte Vechio bridge. The herbal tomato soup served was delicate and has tasted like we have just picked the vegetables fresh at the garden. After tasting the Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Portobello Mushrooms, the Eggplant Parmesan, the Gnocchi alla Padovana, with Tomato & Herbs, the Fettucine Alla Bolognese, and the Scaloppine di Vitello,(Veal Scaloppine with a Lemon & White Wine Sauce), we all sat back and enjoyed the wonderfull feeling of satisfaction. The double espresso was kind and rich. Excellent. Meraviglioso!! We left happy.

I ordered a Gnocchi plate for dinner and I have to say that it was truly the best I've ever had. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the red sauce they used was sublime. They also add fresh herbs that make the gnocchi taste simple amazing. Would definitely go back again

Outstanding laid back restaurant that has fresh fresh cuisine that is made with love. Service is very good and truthful. This place is a great neighborhood find and we all shared 6 dishes and it was fantastic.

Very relaxing with helpfull staff. Good wine en excellent food in a good athmospfeer. There was no hurry and Theo explane the menu. I even got something witch was not on the menu.

Staying at the Roxy hotel it was an easy decision to cross the street to Petrarca Cucina. And it turned to be a very wise decision. We had the Parmesan eggplant that wad delicious, fabulous home made pasta and a great bottle of Barolo wine. The atmosphere was joyful since there was a large group having good time sitting next to our table. The service was professional, though our waiter did not try to be friendly. Overall, a great evening.

After a day walking all over downtown, Not being familiar with this establishment, We took a chance and stopped here for a late lunch. It was divine intervention. Service was impeccable, and the food was out of this world. The homemade pasta made my sister almost cry with joy and the mushroom pizza made me want to go kiss the chef. Do not hesitate, go and enjoy!!

Very Italian! I would suggest that they explain better the content of their dish. Love the wine though.

We were interested in having dinner at a Mexican restaurant just two blocks away but found out they were having a private party. We had to find someplace in a hurry so we walked down the block and luckily found this place. Small but very cozy. Plenty of different wines to choose from if your into wines. Menu list is quite large with plenty to choose from. The choices we made for dinner were very good. I had the baby chicken dinner which was very tender with great flavor. Would be a place to go if I’m ever back in New York.

This is a great little place: excellent wine list, terrific food, and quiet enough that you can have an actual conversation without shouting. The Carbonara was outstanding, with no skimping on the bacon. And the burrata was heavenly!

We had a lovely dinner in this nice and cosy italian restaurant just opposite our hotel the Roxy Tribeca. The charming owner and his son offer some very nice italian dishes. Especially the homemade pasta by the owner was delicious as well as the homemade Tiramisu. A good selection of nice but inexpensive wine made this dinner a very joyful experience.

Very nice decor, superb antipasti, bread is out of this world, olive oil second to none. Owner constantly worried with your general wellbeing. A must see if you are looking for an italian restaurant in Tribeca.

The food was average, the wine was terrible. I was told this is owned by a true Italian, which left me surprised by the below average quality.

We returned to Petrarch yesterday recalling some fine meals there several years ago but were unfortunately disappointed. Although a wild mushroom soup was fine, a mussel appetizer was lukewarm and the broth, usually the best part of this dish, tasted only of lemon juice and had no mussel flavor. Still worse was the linguine seppie with seafood. While the fresh noodles were hot and tasty, the seafood-- including the squid as well as shrimp and mussels -- was barely warm and obviously had been precooked. The manager acknowledged this, without any apology, when we gave him our feedback. As another reviewer said recently, there are many better other options available in the area considering the relatively high prices at Petrarca.

This is about the 4th time we have frequented this place. We brought some out of town friends for dinner. It has always been good and this time did not disappoint. We shared a special salad and a pasta dish of Gnocchi for appetizers. Both were excellent. For dinner my husband and I both had fish specials. The Branzino for him and Yellow Fin tuna for me. Both cooked just right so as to not dry out the fish. Our guests were happy with their veal dish as well. Located downtown in Tribeca close to subways if you are staying uptown and want a downtown experience.

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Great prosciutto pizza and selection of wines. Will definetly stop in again.

Friendly welcome, good food and reasonable prices. Lovely fresh bread. Monsieur took a seafood linguini which he said was the best he has ever had and my pollo spinaci e ricotta was beautifully seasoned and served with fresh vegetables. All washed down with a rather nice Primitivo. Gorgeous!

Decided to drop in for a glass of wine and an appetizer as the outside had a nice Old World feeling to it. Was not disappointed. The Bartender was very helpful in the wine selection (a chilled Chardonay from Chile-$16/glass) which was brought in its own individual carafe (nice touch). Ingredients in the Bruschette appetizer ($8) were all fresh and very tasty. This is a small (50-75 seating tops) establishment, bright and warmly decorated. There is a small bar and some outdoor seating. From where I sat, the service provided by the waitstaff seemed very attentive to the customers. Will definately consider visiting again for a full meal.

My fiance and I have been coming to Petrarca consistently for years! It is such a fabulous Italian restaurant. The quality of the food and service is always impeccable! Truly a Tribeca neighborhood gem! A wonderful outdoor people watching scene in the summer, with tables to dine al fresco while the ambiance during the cold months is delightfully cozy and warm. A great place to bring parents/grandparents, as you are able to easily hear people inside... some restaurants in NYC can get so loud in the evenings.

We were met at door and were told we could sit anywhere with a finger. This was at about 730, and did notice it was not busy. We were given a menu without any welcoming, we reviewed It and finally had to ask the waiter for the specials. The Wine was insanely overpriced. We ordered an appetizer of Tuscan beans with olive oil with fresh rosemary. Instead it was cold beans in cogolated oil with cold shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Lame. The silverware was not replaced. The pasta served was not homemade and so overcoked, where's the sausage? Could go on! Oh, busboys were reliving the world cup soccer matches, The bottom line don't waste your time and money ! Too many good places to it in NYC.

We enjoyed our visit and our meals.... it is a favorite of the son of one of my travel mates so we met him there and had a fabulous dinner.

We were please to arrive at the nicely appointed Petrarca for a Saturday night out. The high point was walking in. From that point it was downhill. Pre-cooked appetizers submerged in a tasteless tomato sauce, dreadful dry lasagna with little or no bechamel, fruit in zabaglione that had virtually no marsala! Pizza not edible! Completely unacceptable for even a mediocre Italian restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad night, but customers pay the same for a bad night as for a good one. A polite and helpful staff couldn't overcome the failings of the kitchen.

My husband and I love this restaurant The people are always so friendly and inviting. You feel like you are a part of a big Italian family immediately. I love all the pasta dishes and the pizzas. I got the fish special this time and it was superb

This is one of our favorites in the big Apple. Consistently excellent small spot in Tribecca. We never mind it when we are in the city. A must visit!

My wife and I had a great lunch here where we shared a cheese platter, had some burrata with prosciutto, and split a brick oven bar pie. My wife tried two different wines and I had a glass of sangria. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines and food. Nice gem of a local place.

I think the title says it all. Good service. Great food. Dog friendly outdoor sitting. Went for diner on Saturday and again for lunch the next day!

Wandered by here one evening with a friend during our visit to NYC, and decided to grab a bite. Quiet, unpretentious and great service. The special that night was homemade spaghetti alla carbonara which was the absolute best Italian food I've ever eaten, and that includes the meals I've had in Italy. Very likely to find my way here again on the next visit.

We have eaten at Petrarca many times with our New York family. We are from Denver so authentic Italian food is few and far. I have never had a bad entree here. Last nights butternut squash ravioli did not disappoint. Also had some carbonara which was very good as was the red wine risotto. A treat for is when we visit! Last night our waiter however was not attentive, and was constantly sucked into his mobile phone, not great service as usual.

I’ve been here a bunch of times and every meal has been amazing. Unbelievable, delicious fresh dishes. The gnocchi is about the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was the owner’s son. Great kid. highly, highly recommend this restaurant

Ivano, we can’t express how much we feel at home when we step through your doors. That is an uncommon experience these days. We look forward to having another five star experience. It would be acceptable in my eyes to visit at least a couple times a week! Thank you again.

A joy! i had the nicest drink here when my friend and i could not have asked for a better place! glad i made the right decision!

We found this excellent restaurant just up the road from our hotel. the food and service were great. The waitress was interested in us and we had a good chat. All in all a good experience.

That's so not true! I thought there was nowhere to go as I was waiting for my daughter who was at a party. Well I found a gem! The food was excellent. I had spagetti pesto special.. it was just like in Genova. I also had sangria. You can't forget there desserts they atr worth all the calorries.Profiteroles with grest whipped cream, vsnilla ice cream and the best chocolate sauce. The girl next to me had chocolate bread pudding she also said it was amazing and finished entirely! It is definatly a family owned restaurant. You can feel that in the atmosphere I highly reccomend going here.

I was in need of a light relaxing meal while in New York and Petrarca appealed as it was near my hotel, Italian and looked inviting. I ordered the plate of salami/ham and a small carafe of wine (Taurisi). Everything came quickly and was fine, but nothing was outstanding. Maybe it was early evening and the establishment lacked atmosphere, but despite the décor it did not feel “Italian” in any way (welcome, staff, ambience etc.) I am not sure that I would return

What a lovely restaurant - great service - genuine people - reasonably prices and pasta was perfectly al dente (and not too large!!!) Will definitely return.

The first time we came here was over 10 years ago and we had such a bad experience, we figured it’s been long enough and let’s give it another shot. Outside of the grumpy old man who greeted you, who I think is the same one that was there 10 years ago, the service was very pleasant and friendly. The bread is absolutely delicious and the olive oil is good. That’s about it. The Caesar salad is drenched in oil, not even sure what that was. The pizza tasted like microwavable pizza with a fried crust. The Broto with tortellini was average, perfectly OK and definitely needed the extra Parmesan and pepper added to it. The it was good, but definitely tasted more like mac & cheese. The Bronzino was fine, unfortunately they do not debone the fish so that was a fun challenge. The wine was perfectly fine as well. It was a very average and underwhelming experience. The tables are right next to each other so you have about 6 inches of space between you and the person at the next table, which unfortunately standard for some NYC restaurants. I certainly will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant. It wasn’t a horrible experience. It was just very average and I believe it is a popular place because it is relatively inexpensive compared to other NYC restaurants. But you get what you pay for.

After walking the Brooklin bridge, we stooped at Petrarca. What a hidden gem! This restaurant serves authentic Italian food at a reasonable price. Wine list is also very good. Service is amazing. We ate a Linguine Di Sepia and a Orecchiette Broccoli e Salsiccia. Banana split for desert.

We walked in without reservation but that was no problem and they gave us a table. The service was good and the food was with a real Italian touch. Wine list gives you good choice from good till expensive. We had a nice evening and liked the ambiance. Some plates are a litte overpriced. No problem to go back there.

We came here for a meal as every time we passed by it had a regular clientele. I opted for a vegetarian option of the truffle risotto. Much to the horror of the staff I did add pepper and cheese - but there is a difference when you say hold the meat stock - sorry! That said it was a very good risotto, husband's food was excellent as was the carafe of wine. This is definitely worth the visit - starters are excellent.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. My husband had the bolognese and I had the gnocchi. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was not very busy while we were there which was nice as it's very cozy and the tables are close together.

We were lucky to get a table without a booking on a busy Saturday night. There was a cancellation and we were so pleased. This was a great find. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and the selection of wines also gave us plenty of choices. The decor is fun and I would certainly return if back in NYC.

Excellent dishes of true Italian cuisine. It is located in the Tribeca area and is a great choice for enjoying a tasty lunch while touring the art galleries there in the area. Council as a right closing of lunch, the dessert of eggnog and berries. Very courteous staff.

Average food in a ok location...the waiter very busy to chat with the barista and the busboy, tables not clean and overpriced...you can find much better in NYC..

Our group of 12 ate dinner at Petrarca last weekend. The hotel concierge recommended we try something close, as it was pouring down rain. The place is great, the food is good, however, our waiter didn't ask if we wanted anything from the bar. After looking at the wine list and no one taking an order, I settled for a glass of water and wine back at the hotel. I tried the miso salad, which was delicious and shared a pizza. The pizza was good, but could have been warmer. I'd always wondered about this restaurant each time I visited Tribeca and know I can say I've eaten here.

We had a good dinner + wine and service was friendly but the evening ended in a disappointing mode. When presented with the bill, gratuity was already filled in. 18%!!! and not just over the food bill but over everything including sales tax. This was the third evening in a row that this happened while it only happened to me twice in the past twenty years or so. I know I am not a US citizin but I have been over 50 times in this country during the last 20 years or so and know how tipping works over here. I simply hate it when being treated as a tourist and not as a guest. You've spoiled a good night out. Big mistake!

My wife and I were staying across the street at the Roxy Hotel. We said, "why not" and walked across the street. The dinning is very neighborhood and intimate. We were give a table for two between two other local couples who introduced themselves as regulars and told us about their favorite dishes. The menu is quite extensive and the waiter told us about the many different specials that evening. My wife ordered a light meal of tuna tartar and poached pear salad. I ordered a minestrone soup (soup of the day) and fettuccini bolognese. All dishes were excellent. My wife was particularly taken with the tuna. Overall we had a cozy, intimate evening with great food.

What to say aside from go. Amazing food, friendly and attentive service which was never intrusive. Had lamb ragout over fettuccine, delicious and wonderfully paired with an awesome recommendation from the great sommelier. Reasonable prices, relaxed yet elegant setting makes this a neighborhood winner. Have already been back twice. Superb.

We ended up here after the concierge at our hotel insisted it was a better option than our standing reservation at another italian restaurant. We dined @ 9:30pm - restaurant closed @ 11pm. I will say that the food was very good. Gnocchi and Seafood choices were well cooked and quite delicious. Wine was fine - my first selection was not available, so a recommended alternative was suggested...it wasn't quite the same, but very drinkable. My only issue with the place was that the whole meal felt rushed - like we were an inconvenience. We were one of four tables that dined until close and the waiters did not seem like they were very excited to be serving until that time. Around 10:45pm the check was dropped on our table and the other remaining table and the non-verbals were clear that we were being asked to leave. Too bad, the food was good and the ambience was interesting....

I have never had Italian food as good as this. The service was fantastic. If you want a good meal in NY go there you wont be disappointed.

After a full day, settling in at this restaurant was the best! A cold vodka tonic ordered and served with lemon! (Not the customary lime no matter what.) A comfortable seat, very inviting room and quick service. Outstanding salad, kept finding “one more” piece of avocado. Delish pasta, generous glass of wine. And a very friendly and helpful staff. Just what I wanted! Friends were extremely happy as well.

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant after getting some documents at the courthouse. We showed up a few minutes before they were officially opened and we were welcomed warmly in. I have a few allergies and found a great dish I could eat! Very happy about that. The scramble with zucchini and onions was perfectly paired with potatoes and a salad! It was fresh and yummy! My dining companion had a broth with tortellini in it followed by a pasta with Bolognese which he thoroughly enjoyed. There was a good beer for companion and I have a lovely tea. The service was lovely the wait staff was exuberant and helpful. I found the service very warm and friendly. I'd highly recommend this spot for an array of meals with an array of people.

I've eaten in many Italian restaurants in NYC and in Europe and our meal was up there. The Fettuccini bolognese was the tastiest and the cold avadocado soup was superb on a hot summer night. Bread was terrific as was the oil oil. Be sure to try the generous sized white sangria! We found no fault with our waiter who made excellent suggestions and was unobtrusive.

We are fortunate to have such a consistently excellent restaurant a block away from our home. The food is excellent without being fussy, the service is extremely friendly and the wine list is extensive but manageable. Petrarca is very well run and we've never been disappointed. TIP: Grab a seat near the large windows for people watching or a seat at the bar so you may engage with the excellent bar staff.

Very enjoyable place with good food, excellent wine collection, pleasant decor and service. Italian cuisine at its best. Try their buffalo mozzarella as your starter. Bruschetta is delicious too. You will enjoy variety of pasta, meat and seafood dishes while sitting among shelves displaying various wines. There is an option to sit outdoors and do some people watching while eating on a pleasant day. Good experience.

This establishment is owned by locals and in that respect is in the Mom and Pop type of establishment that is favored by locals and every day there are many dining here. There is not a tremendous amount of seating so reservations are recommended. Not being a chain, and having their own high standards, pasta is fresh, the gnocchi for example is excellent. Portions are not huge but are filling. Fish dishes are excellent and there are many wines to choose from. Can be extremely loud, a mater of confined space and happy diners!

Had a casual dinner here with my husband. Nice menu. Good wine selection. Service was good. Food was good but not outstanding.

Popped on for a drink as it was near our hotel and went back for dinner the following evening. Professional, warm friendly staff, fabulous fresh generous sangria, good food.

After a meeting in Tribeca I just wanted to solo and have a nice lunch. Walking the streets I saw the restaurant Petrarca and stumbled in. Was not crowded. Place is nicely decorated. Ordered a Pinot Grigio (Trentino, Italy) and the daily risotto. Perfect risotto, cooked as it has to be, very tasty. Portion not too big, and not too small. Wine was nice. Very good espresso. Overall a very good Italian lunch experience. Friendly service. English and Italian. Fair pricing. Well done! Ordered a Pinot Grigio ( from Tretino) and the daily risotto.

Absolutely the best lasagna ever. Gnocchi was amazing. Coffee crème brûlée is a must and the Tuna tartar was on point. All was deserving of five stars!!!

This was the second time my wife and I ate here -- the first time, it was just the closest place to a gallery, we were dead tired, and it looked quiet. This time, we were early for a nearby theater performance, looking for a place to have dinner. We remembered Cucina e Vino, but thought we'd look at other nearby restaurant menus. None had the combination of interesting dishes, full wine list and bright, airy location, with sidewalk tables if we wanted them. We ate here again, and the food -- we both had pasta dishes -- and wine, were superb, as was the service. We won't waste time looking around for something else next time we're in the area.

My wife and I went here for a pre-theatre meal since we sere seeing a show at Soho Rep. The vibe is very casual and local friendly. We started with the Toscana, White Beans & Flavorful Rosemary Pecorino Bruschetta. I could have had 3 more plates of it it was so tasty. I then had the Tortellini in Brodo, Chicken stuffed Tortellini in Broth which was a little salty as these dishes tend to be I find, but enjoyable nonetheless. For our mains we had Pappardelle Al Petrarca, Wide Pasta with Peas, Proscuitto in a Pink Sauce and the Fettuccine Alla Bolognese, Homemade Fettucini in a Meat Sauce. The pastas were incredible and the Bolognese hearty. The only drawback of the Pappardelly is that I would have liked the bits of Proscuitto to be a little less chewy. Overall it was a very nice meal and I would certainly go back.

There are innumerevoli Italian restaurants in Lower Manhattan. Several of those become highly regarded, richly recommended. Some feature easily visible locations in famed neighborhoods. Here's one you might not have heard about... Petrarca Cucina e Vino on White Street. On the corner of White and Church, the spacious windows, simple message chalkboard, the bold PETRARCA name emblazoned on the awnings, all this beckons one. The dining room is Edward Hopper style uncomplicated. One enters, scans and selects a table. The view is easy. Go for window side. The servers are friendly and unobtrusive. We split the Linguine Di Seppia--succulent and not over seasoned. For our green, we enjoyed the sauteed spinach. The crusty bread is just out of the oven. I can't take credit for finding this Italian epicurean delight. I'll leave that for you.

We had dinner at Petrarca because it was close to our Hotel. The staff is nice and the atmosphere is cozy. It was a very cold night and the restaurant would get pretty chilly every time someone opened the door. Very low lightening and noisy. The food varies in quality, depending on your choices: the seared tuna was very good, the black pasta with shrimps was not so good, pizza was ok. Price was too high for what we ate.

On our way to a little theatre across the street (Flea), stopped for a glass of wine. Two of us sat at at the bar and sipped while tasting an appetizer... Was good enough for us to recommend returning with a large group after the show... Service was fabulous, food and wine also wonderful. Would easily return if in the neighborhood.

Met up with some family for a Friday night dinner in the city. What a great choice. The food was wonderful, the wine was smooth, and the noise level was manageable. Even the bill didn't disappoint.

A very good choice when staying at the Roxy. Great atmosphere. Very quick friendly and efficient service. Food excellent. Best lasagna ever! Calamari also cooked to perfection. Yes the prices are still eye watering, but are reasonable for this neck of the woods!

We live in 10013 zip code (Tribeca) and we have gone here a number of times. The service is great and attentive, just like Italy. Leo the owner is from Italy and has a rich knowledge of wine. The wine list is extensive or you can ask for advice and they are glad to help. In the summertime you can sit outside and they have home made sangria, I have never had a bad meal here. I love simple dishes like pesto or pasta with tomato sauce. My wife has fish and loves it. I have seen many people from the neighborhood as well as VIPs. It is right across from the Tribeca Grand and so you see a few hotel guests. There is a friendly atmosphere and it is not uncommon to strike up a conversation with the people next to you. I read some bad reviews and I am surprised. I have never see the staff act in a unfriendly way. Most people are so well treated when they go out of their way to say good by. Go here with a friendly attitude and you will love it. I

After walking for 6 hours we were trying to find a Japanese place, but being so tired and hungry we decided to stop here and I am so glad we did. The service was great, food was delicious, cheese plate was awesome and the sangria was phenomenal

Without a doubt one of the best restaurant experiences we have had. The food was delicious and the neighborhood vibe was so welcoming. Bruno our server, and Yvano, part of the dedicated family owners, made our evening thoroughly enjoyable. We shared the pear and Gorgonzola salad to start. It was a great salad. Then we had the veal limone and the beef tartare. Both were a huge hit. We followed up with tiramisu and some biscotti, accompanied by Vin Santo. Yvano sat and chatted with us, it truly was like being in Italy without getting on a plane. Don’t miss a chance at eating here.

I only popped in here to have a drink. Cute little restaurant, corner location. Amazing wine options! Very friendly, helpful staff. It was not busy mid-day on a week day, so we kind of owned the place. Just ordered a salad at the bar and wine/beer. Delicious though! And yummy bread and olive oil served along with. Perfect pit stop. If I am in the city again, I will certainly consider eating here.

Stumbled across this restaurant right across from Roxy hotel for a late lunch. Restaurant was quiet so we were served quickly. Food was exceptional: the staff made a spaghetti arrabiata vegetarian and the chicken caesar salad was fresh with a delicious subtle smokey flavour The desserts are exquisite: one of the best tiramisus and affogato (as per many reviews their coffee is amazing) Atmosphere complete with firey charismatic manager who was singing along to the tunes and going mad about a staff member being sick! Truly Italian!

Kind of average place. Quite pricey for very ordinary food and wine. The burrata was very nice though.

The best Gnocchi and Carpaccio in Manhattan. Cool, low-key, delicious! I love to go for a bite or a big meal. Staff knows how to get you the best paired wines and the chic but relaxed atmosphere is great for friend, lovers, low key holiday, etc. Last week in the OMG hot weather I popped over to relax and eat well before heading out for the later night. Also it's a place that is owned and operated by the former owners of Restaurante Arqua (awesome high end northern Italian that was across the street!)

We had a great meal. Pappadelle was excellent. Boulognese was great. Nice atmosphere, small neighborhood restaurant. Great bread. May go back again tomorrow.

We chose it because it was close to our hotel (the Roxy, across the street) and the theater we were going to at the corner of White St and Broadway. It was a good choice. The Caesar salad was one of the best I have ever had. The key to a good Caesar is that it has to be stinky, and this one reeked of garlic and anchovies. That's what I like. Better yet, the anchovy was blended into the dressing, so you never got an actual anchovy in your mouth, requiring you then to figure out what to do with it. Salmon came with an attractive sauce; cannelloni could have been passed up.

've gone here many times for lunch or dinner. Always consistent. The food is great and so is the service. Highly recommend.

The place is nice, lots of windows and nice decor. The fresh pasta - both the spaghetti and the sage nhoque - were delish (main dish). We order the beef carpaccio and it was not good at all - the meat had no flavor and was not tender. We also ordered the arugula salad with shrimp (salad was good but the shrimp was among the worst I ever had, not seasoned properly, no flavor at all!). The cheese platter was good and the desert (profiteroles with ice cream) was a total hit!

It wasn't until I attempted to write a review of an August dinner with friends that Tripadvisor reminded me that I had eaten here before, for the second time -- in 2013! My review from then said that, while there are many restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, this one had the most interesting menu, and turned out to have great ambiance, food and wine. It still does, with the added attraction of offering gluten-free spaghetti or penne. My wife and I won't wait another nine years to return, and our friends have become believers, too.

Had dinner and with so many great Italian restaurants this is not one of them. Ordered a cheese plate and it tasted like the cheeses had sat out for days. They give you grape jam with it that tastes like Welches. Pastas were both just ok...lacked salt and flavor. Service very nice but food needs major work.

I enjoyed good service and a tasty fish soup at this restaurant. Also a nice wine selection. The menu includes seafood as well as pizza.

Found this place in the neighborhood of theater we were going to that evening. Place was empty- it was 5:30. Good menu, great options for dining, lovely space. Could hardly get a waiter to take order, deliver food, or see if we were fine during the service. Please note there were only 8 people ( 3 tables) eating in the restaurant. Waiter was busy outside on his cell and manager chose to ignore us. Certainly would not go back- too bad as food was tasty but who wishes to be invisible when paying good money to have a nice dinner. .

Sat in the corner by the window (hint: best sea in the House!) and enjoyed a perfect evening out: food was fantastic, well done, great service, good wine selection. Loved it. The wild mushroom soup was very tasty and perfect for a winter night. The tortellini in brodo was satisfying. The chicken sausage and polenta special was just that: special. Such a good find. Will go back!

We stopped here hoping to get a nice glass of wine and an assortment of cheeses, as we did on a previous visit. Unfortunately cheese assortments are no longer offered. Although the place was practically empty, service was slow and the bartender just seemed totally disinterested and bored. Used to be a nice place but is not the same.

We were only in New York City for a long weekend, but after eating at this place once, we couldn't stop going back. The service was wonderful, the pasta was amazingly fresh, the location was perfect. We ate at a couple of other Italian restaurants during our short stay, but none were as good as Petrarca.

The food is not very tasty for italian food lovers, just average, the service was nice, the atmosphere is the best of it

Staying at The Roxy and wanted to eat close by. Fancied Italian and saw this was rated quite highly on here. Hubby went for the pasta with turkey meatballs. Nothing special. Pasta stuck together and meatballs bland. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. Dry, hardly any sauce and no flavour. Left most of it. Hubby ate his only because he was ravenous. Ordered the biscotti to follow and this was the best part of the meal, however, would not return and would not recommend.

We visited on the last night of our stay; it was close to our hotel, previous reviews were good & it looked nice from outside. Initial impressions were good. Then when we picked up the wine list the waiter rushed over and offered his recommendation. Despite declining his offer we got it anyway, needless to say we did not follow his recommendation as having travelled in Italy on a number of occasions we chose something we knew and liked. The restaurant was cool to say the least and draughty; to be fair when we pointed this out they did adjust the settings and the temperature improved marginally. Appetizers were good, no complaints. Main courses - my lamb shank was okay. My wife's steak came with "McDonalds" fries and a portion of tomatoe sauce, no salad etc. Given the up-market image they portray this was a very poor effort. Also the plates were stone cold, never a good sign. To follow we ordered profiteroles to share and coffee. The coffee came immediately, even though we were still fininshing our wine. The profiteroles came some minutes later. Obviously on the evening in question the restaurant had some general issues with heating as the profiteroles were still frozen in the middle! Service - a bit too attentive. Plates were whisked away with the cutlery barely on the plate & while food was still being chewed. We had some very good restaurant experiences in the previous days of our visit. This was easily the worst and in addition was the most expensive. I should have read between the lines of a previous review where it was stated that service was included! If it had not been our last night we would have just shrugged our shoulders, put it down to experience and I would not have written this review. Beware!

This small, attractive corner restaurant in Tribecca is one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to anywhere in the world (including Italy). The staff is attentive. The wine list is huge, featuring italian wines we were not familiar with, but which were superb (a bit expensive). They had many specials, one of which was the grilled artichoke and toasted suchini, and ti was fantastic. My spinach and ricotta cannelloni was the best pasta I can remember. We highly recommend a trip downtown to visit this place.

Wonderful Italian food and huge selection of wine. Quiet atmosphere (we were there for Sunday lunch / brunch) which is perfect for conversation over a delicious meal...........

Had dinner here with a group of friends. Waiter was very attentive, wine selection was excellent. The food was good, but not amazing. The vegetarian pasta/entree choices were more limited than at most Italian restaurants. The prices were a bit higher than on the on-line menu, which was a bit of a surprise.

Came to Petrarca after walking around looking for a place to grab a bite. Walked in and were given a table without problem. Waiter was friendly, not pushy. Love the bread. Really good crunchy crust, very impressed. We ordered fish, which was fresh and perfectly cooked. Chicken with filling was also good. Fennel salad I would have put less dressing on it, and with more volume, but otherwise tasty and a good side. Had a good meal and ended up coming back a couple of nights later as we wandered around, sitting outside this time - good option for a nice breezy evening.

My friends and I were looking for a place to stop for a cocktail after a trip to Ground Zero and a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. We opted to sit at the bar and enjoy the air conditioning instead of sitting outside, and I am so glad we did! We all had the fresh sangria (red and white) which was fantastic without being too sweet. We also decided to have a snack and chose some assorted meats and cheeses which were fresh and artfully arranged. Our bartender attended to us like we were the only ones in the restaurant (which we weren't), and the other wait staff took the time to greet us as they passed. Another restaurant employee took the time to give us suggestions for live music for the evening. I will definitely return the next time I visit NYC!

Petrarca is a real expression of the Italian Food. In front of The Roxy Hotel in SOHO it is a very nice place attended, among several waiters, by the owners. Starting from the bread and going through the Melanzana al Parmigiano and any of the Pasta dishes combined with the souce you like, or Pizza and finishing with a nice dessert and coffe. Good wine selection from Italy. If you are nearby, don’t hesitate go and enjoy!!

I took customers for a holiday lunch and had the minestrone soup, veal saltimbocca with risotto and it was fantastic. We also shared a couple of desserts. This is my second time there and both times it totally impressed me.

Very nice place with a big choice of wine (especially red). Fantastic tuna tartar - must have. Delicious gnocchi!

This place wasn't far from our hotel. It ended up being one of the best dinners of our trip. Fabulous pasta. Fresh and delicious. Friendly service.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with loads of wine bottles displayed on the walls and sieved lights, the place is a bit cramped, I think that a few less table will made the place more enjoyable. I had a minestrone and the house lasagna, the portion where reasonable and the food tasted good, if nothing special. Two slightly negative points for me: - The service was too "present" for my taste, we had 3-4 different waiters coming every 5 minutes to ask if we wanted more drinks. Its always nice to feel considered by the personal, but that was a bit too much. - They have a really good choice of wines, but the waiter kept asking if we wanted "a really good wine" and went obviously for the more expensive ones, we made our own choice and were not disappointed Overall the food was OK, the service a bit insisting and the overall price was a bit overrated. Tips: - Be careful with the wine advice, they tend to go for the expensive wines

Family an friends visited , a party of six. Very obliging hostess and a great waiter, knowledgable on wine. We had some bruschetta and calamari fir the team to start with a selection of pasta dishes all being hearty and flavour sum. Extensive wine list, a little to big for us but then again some like to browse. Over all a good meal , clean rest rooms and great staff.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to try Petrarca for a light fare, which included the calamari fritti, octopus salad and wine. Both appetizers were excellent! The decor, rustic & unpretentious. The calamari was very tender and not overly breaded, just perfect. And the octopus was just as tender as the calamari, served on a pea & potato salad. Simply delicious!

Petrarca delivered on all fronts for me as it has great food and wine and nice atmosphere at reasonable (by the neighbourhood standards) prices and the service was very good- not overly fussy, just right. We wanted a nice low key dinner as we are staying in a hotel nearby and both of us ordered the pasta only, so that's all I can review food wise but it was very good. Will try to get back again whilst we are here in NY

We arrived without a reservation and they sat us at the bar. Very nice pasta and delicious wine - recommend the Dolcetto Alba. Delicious ly fresh rocket parmesan sald. Barman very friendly. Atmosphere is lively and bustling.

We came across this restaurant/ wine bar by chance and were pleasantly surprised. Being New Years Eve they were very busy bu5 still managed to fit us in. They have a great selection of wine and food is fresh and tasty, Having over indulged in the warm frshly baked bread before our Marin course we were unable to fit in a dessert. We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned the next day! Seafood linguine is delightful and the chicken in breadcrumbs with spaghetti is very filling,we would recommend this restaurant/ wine bar
Awful, abusive
**Review for Petrarca Cucina E Vino** I recently had an incredibly abusive experience at Petrarca Cucina E Vino that I feel compelled to share. I dined alone, enjoying a book, and ordered two glasses of wine, a salad, and a pasta dish. Unfortunately, the food was not to my liking, and instead of complaining, I simply motioned for the waiter to ask for a menu so I could consider ordering a piece of fish. What happened next was shocking. Rather than assisting me, the waiter screamed at me, saying, "the food is probably garbage by now. You sit and read and read while you eat. You piece of garbage." I was taken aback by his abusive demeanor, especially considering I had already spent $145 and was prepared to order another $100 worth of food. It was disheartening to be verbally attacked simply for enjoying my meal while reading. The fact that the waiter felt the need to verbally abuse a well-dressed, attractive female is unacceptable. I was not looking to return my food but was genuinely interested in ordering more. I would strongly advise anyone who values kindness and respect to avoid this restaurant.
